    Car Shield Customer Service agents are polite and very knowledgeable, that's the only good thing about Car Shield. I owned a Jeep Cherokee, and had car CarShield for 4 months when my Jeep broke down with a service transmission and check engine light at my local Chrysler dealership. When I bought my policy I was informed that I can take my Jeep to any official FCA Dealership to have my vehicle repaired. It turned out after speaking with every Chrysler Dealership in north Metro Detroit, they all informed me that they no longer accept CarShield.

    I called Customer Service they located another shop 5 miles away, but after talking to the shop manager myself, he informed me that he does not do transmission work. I called Customer Service again. They found a transmission shop that was 18 miles away that located in below I-696 and on Gratiot Ave. I am familiar with that area my family used live in that area over 30 years ago, and it's a very impoverished and unsafe part of Metro Detroit even 30 years later. I had to wait over 4 hours to get a tow truck move my car to the transmission shop. I later on learned from a friend that lived in the area and local reviews, that the transmission shop was notorious for jerry rigging vehicles and charging customer's for unneeded repairs. They took over a week to look at my vehicle, they said that nothing was wrong with the transmission but they found a EVAP code for a O2 sensor.

    They informed me that they were solely a Transmission shop which was not the truth, this same shop worked on my friend's car that had needed engine and suspension work. I paid the 75 dollar inspection fee which is not covered by CarShield and the shop informed that my Jeep was drivable. At this point I gave up having my car fixed through CarShield, and I contacted a local mechanic that I trusted to inspect and fix my Jeep.

    I contacted CarShield Roadside Assistance for another tow truck to move my Jeep since I did not want to risk another break down and don't trust the advise of the Transmission shop. Called 11:15 am, I was promised by the Tow Truck Company's dispatch a 1 hour wait, but I was left stranded for almost 8 hours in an unsafe area. I called the tow truck company 8 times with no answer. After 6 hours I called Roadside Assistance to dispatch a different truck. They ended rebooking with same Tow company that left me stranded all this time. At this point contact my family to help me move my Jeep another shop. About 2 hours later my brother, mother, and I limped my Jeep to next shop over 14 miles away. I got my Jeep fixed by my Mechanic which I paid out of pocket.

    From my experience, I can tell you that Car Shield Roadside assistance is unreliable and you are better off using AAA Roadside assistance. Car Shield's Technician network is very limited, especially if you own a Stellantis/Chrysler product in Metro Detroit. There no more Chrysler dealerships with ASE Mechanics in Metro Detroit that will accept CarShield. The very few shops that they have available for covered transmission work in Metro Detroit are either over 3 weeks behind on services or known for poor workmanship. CarShield is not worth the cost, you are honestly better off finding another warranty Company or paying for the repair yourself at a trusted mechanic.

Unfortunately, our claims administrator's Roadside Assistance department is only responsible for locating companies in your area that are able to provide towing services, provide them with your information and send them your way, but if there was an issue with the tow company getting to you, it is their specific tow company that did not provide you with good service, and we are very sorry to hear about that. As far as dealerships not wanting to work with us, unfortunately, it's not usually the reasons you think. Some shops refuse to take any outside coverage because they want to be in charge of their own prices. There is a nationally recognized labor guide that tells repair facilities what to charge for what services and things like that. But it's up to each individual shop whether or not they want to follow it. With coverage like ours, we keep shops from overcharging our customers and shops don't always like that. We’re happy to stand on our record of servicing over 2 million customers and our 17 years in business. Not to mention our claims department pays out over $5 million in claims every month.     I purchased CarShield after a pricey repair ($1600.00+). When it was time for more repairs, I called CarShield and asked what to do prior to bringing my car in. I was instructed to bring the car in to the repair shop and give the person checking me in numbers to reach CarShield and start a claim. I was told by the CarShield representative that would be all I needed to do. This was in the beginning of August (8/8/22). After leaving my car in the repair shop for a few days, I received a call from the shop with estimates on when parts would arrive, and work would be done (late September). I was also told they couldn't get in touch with anyone at CarShield to start a claim and find out what was needed which prompted me to call CarShield for help.

    I was told by CarShield the repair shop needed to send documentation. This is something that should have been communicated between CarShield. I relayed the information to the repair shop who informed me CarShield was not very responsive. Five weeks later, the repair shop called me to say my car was ready however they've not had any communication with CarShield. Again, I called CarShield to see what was holding up the process and was told the repair shop should reach out to the adjustor with a final invoice and after 2 hours, payment would be send. As this was the end of the day, the repair shop and I agreed to speak in the morning. Again, I relayed the information, and the invoice was sent.

    The next day I checked in with the repair shop to see if payment had been received so I could pick up my car and found no payment had been received. Both the repair shop and I called CarShield. I spoke to representatives who said they'd check on it. After getting off the phone with CarShield, I received a phone call from the dealership stating, "I'm so sorry to tell you this but CarShield is saying they aren't paying the claim because the work was not approved. When I asked them why they didn't tell us what they needed, the person on the phone replied, 'It's in her contract'". NO ONE at CarShield mentioned this to the repair shop nor did they tell me when I called (as I shouldn't have had to).

    I immediately called CarShield and received someone who spoke to an adjustor and confirmed the claim was denied because work was done prior to approval. I asked how this could be possible as both the repair shop and I were in communication with CarShield through the entire experience. The reply I received was, "Sorry, it's in your contract". That day I ended my contract with such a SCANDALOUS company. Needless to say, in order to get my car, I had to pay $1900.00

    We do apologize to hear about your situation, however, this is not completely accurate. We show that there were only three communications between you and the claims department before the repairs were performed without authorization. One was the shop calling in to start the claim, where they were asked for a diagnostic and estimate to be sent in. Documents were sent in and uploaded to the file. You called in asking for an update and were advised that the documents were under review. Once they were reviewed, claims spoke one more time with the shop letting them know that the documents they sent in were service records, not a diagnostic and estimate that was originally requested. So, it was requested again. The next time we heard from anyone was halfway through September and the repairs had already been performed on the vehicle. We do apologize, however, it appears that this denial was based on a lack of communication from the shop and them not sending in the proper documentation that was requested the very first time they called in.     This company is horrible and its goal is to collect your premiums without paying claims. My husband took out a policy after we purchased a used vehicle. A few months later, the vehicle broke down and required a new motor. The vehicle was towed to a repair facility using our roadside assistance (luckily) and a claim was initiated. The mileage was questioned and if we hadn't had a receipt for towing with the actual mileage listed, our claim would have been denied right there. After THREE months of constant calls and requests and jumping through hoops, today our claim was denied. You may ask why....well, the contract may cover replacing a motor, but it will only cover if there is actually no reason for the motor to need replacement. The contract doesn't cover hoses, and because one busted and caused the motor to run hot, they won't replace the motor. Do not waste your money.

    I was completely misled when I signed up with a CarShield. A woman on the phone was very insistent on me covering my second vehicle which I really was not interested in. She talked me into it and basically told me that everything would be covered on it even though it’s a 2004 except for the air conditioning. I had some repairs that need to be made that are looking at about $1300 involved in power steering pump, gas pedal and window switch and motor. They are not covering anything on that. They said just transmission and motor. My transmission motor is fine.

So if my car was to break I have documentation but you're making this impossible to prove.     I chose CarShield as my Warranty coverage because I needed the coverage and I liked Ice T! I couldn’t see Ice T promoting anything that was reliable and helpful.. Back in September of 2021, I signed up with CarShield.. I was supposed to be receiving my contact by email but never received it.. I’m a busy person so I don’t dwell on the same things repeatedly unless it’s not correct.. I paid; $99.99 down and $99.99 a month automatic payment draft.. I’m knowing if anything happens I’m good! So, a few months later I started having problems with my my struts and suspension system.. I had nothing to look over to see if was covered so, I called CarShield! They say no it’s not covered that’s like $2,000 to be repaired.. So now again August 24th,2022. My A/C and Radio screen is out. I only take my car to the Cadillac place where I brought it from.

    I called CarShield, they to me to get it diagnosed and have the technician to send them the diagnosis! The Cadillac technician did just that. I paid $250 for the diagnostic fee that day. I called CarShield in asked if they’ve received all they need from the Cadillac technician? I was told that they didn’t have anything on me as part of a claim. I had to start all the way over. This person on the phone now, told me to have the technician to call him and give him the claim number.. I did just that, so now I did just that. An hour later, I get a call from the Cadillac technician, saying that I will need to bring my car back because CarShield has emailed them a thick Pamphlet that has to be filled out and they have to get the codes off the car and re/diagnosis the car again. I drop my car off at the Cadillac place on 8/29/22.

    Ok so I’m catching rides every day to and from work.. I work 40 miles from home, 40 miles going and 40 miles coming that’s 80 miles in a day. On 9/10/22 American AutoShield a joint company with CarShield, lady named Alexis called me to get verification of my vehicle and to get my 1yr of vehicle service which had already been emailed to them on 9/9/22 from the Cadillac place. Between 9/11-9/12/22, someone from the warranty company called in unprofessionally left a message for the Cadillac technician that my vehicle wouldn’t be covered. The technician called me at 8:04am to let me know! I called CarShield to ask and asked why not? They said, they don’t cover outside damage! I asked, "How could it be outside damage when one has worked on my vehicle in that area?" And that’s part of the reason I’m paying monthly fees to them in case of daily natures like this one?

    If you are driving with no accident and something hits your vehicle like a stick or rock going in between your grill and hitting your condenser without you being aware of it, that’s Mother Nature! They still said, it’s not covered.. I asked for a copy of my denial letter! I was told it takes 7 to 10 days before it arrives.. that was on today 9/12/22.. I also asked what was the appeal process? I was told that once the adjuster has denied the claim there’s no reversing it?? Meaning there’s no fair chance at making sure this is in your policy and/or there was nothing misunderstood in the claim report..

    Sorry you’re having trouble finding a local repair shop that accepts our coverage. Some shops refuse to take our coverage, however it is not for the reasons you may think. Some shops refuse to take any outside coverage because they want to be in charge of their own prices. There is a nationally recognized labor guide that tells repair facilities what to charge for what services and things like that. But it's up to each individual shop whether or not they want to follow it. With coverage like ours, we keep shops from overcharging our customers and shops don't always like that. Maybe visiting with them and getting feedback on how soon the vehicle repairs will be completed.     I sent in my car for repairs 2014 GMC Terrain, I purchased the warranty in the event we would need to have it repaired out of warranty. And sure enough the first time using the warranty the claim was denied. I was lied to and fed baloney. I needed the engine variable valve timing intake and exhaust replaced. The part was 89.99 each and the total cost for that repair was 124.94. So you lost a potential life time customer who was in the process of purchasing two more additional plans for my children who are of driving age and have their own vehicles. I feel I was lied to and sold a bogus policy. I feel your company is full of liars. They said anything to sell me a warranty even offered me $20.00 off a month for the two policies so I purchased the plan. But when it came time to collect the claim was denied.

    Your company offered my an additional $20.00 off the price per month for my policy which comes out to $240.00 off my yearly price for the warranty. I was truly taken back because the cost of the repair was $124 plus parts, why would you just approve the claim? I am truly appalled. I am a hard working low wage earner and every penny counts. I am truly disgusted by your company's inability to follow through with the promise they made. SHAME ON YOU. I am truly appalled by your lack of concern for my plight. I even prepaid for one of my warranties for my car. Boy was I a sucker.

    The worst experience so far. My car has been down since this Monday. Customer service is not very helpful towards new customers. The places I have called on the list aren’t in network and or they don’t work on Land Rovers. No car no rentals. Only public transportation for work, which is definitely not good.     Sorry you’re having trouble finding a local repair shop that accepts our coverage. Some shops refuse to take our coverage, however it is not for the reasons you may think. Some shops refuse to take any outside coverage because they want to be in charge of their own prices. There is a nationally recognized labor guide that tells repair facilities what to charge for what services and things like that. But it's up to each individual shop whether or not they want to follow it. With coverage like ours, we keep shops from overcharging our customers and shops don't always like that.     This is the second claim I have had in 2+ years and the second one I'm having to fight for. I have the Gold Powertrain policy with a bad CV axle on our 2011 MKX. They have said that they will NOT cover a penny of it because it started from the boot. Well, DUH, that is where CV axles usually go bad from. They list it's a covered part and that is it. But, when their approved mechanic calls them and tells them this... they say, "NA, IT'S NOT COVERED!" It started from the housing they say. Housing? It's a boot. Their approved mechanic has a jaw-dropping mis-belief of their stance.

    Why am I spending almost $200.00 a month to have coverage when they don't pay for squat? All the things they say they cover... they break down into micromanagement to see how they can get out of it. Then, they make up words that are not properly used to cover themselves. The money leaves my bank account every month and goes into theirs. And, that seems to be the ONLY way they plan to have that work. See you in small claims court!

    When it came to be to get my car fixed was denied because when I first signed up was given wrong information. Was absolutely horrible. Totally do not give you correct information when you sign up and then when it's time to get your car fixed you can't cause they gave you wrong Info in the very beginning. They suck.

Since she probably was just following her training in trying to keep the customer she did a good job. The next time she might win me over.
