    My car has 126,000 on it. If anything major went wrong, I want it covered so I got an extended coverage for it. However, my car has a manual transmission, and reading the policy, it only covers automatic. I’ve asked twice to get cancelation emailed to me and that hasn’t happened yet. It cost me $117 for nothing. I wouldn’t recommend CARCHEX to anybody.

    Thinking that if something happens to my car it wouldn't have to come out of my pocket was the reason I signed up with CARCHEX. But I cancelled it as it's a lot of money paying out every month. I can put $100 away every month and still have the same amount of money if something happened to the car. And I'm a very good driver and take care of my car. It's not necessary for me to have it right now especially that I'm paying 13 bills a month. Until I get everything by next year, I'll call them up.     I had a problem about six years ago with a 2007 Dodge Ram and I did not have extended warranty. Then Carchex came and I wanted to get it and experience it. I heard other people try it but I haven't looked into the actual policy and how the coverage works. My mechanic said he had a bad experience with Carchex as far as time, what was and wasn't covered, and parts they wanted to pay for and not pay for. I've only had my policy for 20 days so I'll have to see if something goes wrong down the road.     When I bought the car, I was not aware that I would have a warranty on it for three years.     Carchex came up when I googled extended warranty and they had a Better Business Bureau rating. I saw some good things, and was convinced. I was shopping around for a while but he was alright and he was very formal and real about the whole situation. He told me what way I was servicing me with, what kind of claims would affect this. All the questions I had, he helped me with very well and explained to me. The main one I had was the maintenance fee because it's very expensive on a BMW X6. There was only one thing I wished would have been good with them-- the free maintenance, but there's none.     Back in July I had a paper in the mail and it said something about vehicle warranty and so I decided to call them back and tell them to leave the warranty since it's a day late and it's probably already cancelled. But the representative said to go ahead, get it and start paying $108 a month. However, I don't know how it works. I hope I get more help from them to tell me how to use it, then I'll go from there.     I've been wanting to get an extended warranty, but most warranties I get were expensive and the last one I got didn't give me the quality of work that I was looking for. I had my car for a while and after I paid it off, things started breaking down. The warranty said they didn't cover this and that. I found out that CARCHEX is fairly affordable and covered more things if it's repairable with them as opposed to another provider.     I just had CARCHEX the other day but I don't know if I'm going to keep it or not because there's nothing wrong with my car and thank God for that. Nothing's pending with it either but they tell me I got to wait either 90 days or 200 miles or 30 days and 1,000 miles. Round trip going to work is three miles. I could even walk to work. I gave a little bit more money down which brought my payment down a little bit. But I'm still going to pay for three months which is the only part that I don't like.

    I don't know if this is going be worth it for me or not because when I was doing the Math, their insurance cost more than what the car is worth. It's a 2000 Honda Accord in mint condition. The car is almost 15 years old with 140,000 miles on it. That insurance is going to cost 2,400. I bought the car for 1,800 and spent another 500 doing the brakes. Other things I did to it was put brand new tires, a tune-up, and put in a new radiator just to get it out of the way because I had some extra income tax money. I got a payment due on the 10th of this month with $91, but I'm having second thoughts. How about if my car breaks down next week, what am I going to do? Anything could happen which is one of the reasons why I bought it.

However, I’m more concerned about them fixing my car when something goes wrong because I had another insurance and they weren’t good at all. And the sad part, I had been with that company for almost nine years. I was just on the computer one day and I saw Carchex and I thought, “No, you might as well don’t even worry about that anymore because they’re probably all the same.” So I didn’t do it that day. Then I told my nephew I was thinking about it. He said, “Well, you really don’t need to do it. You never hardly put it in the shop.     I was supposed to be getting the contract in 7-10 days, but we had to wait too long for it. When I finally got my contract in the mail, I was thinking about cancelling it because I got a better deal from two other warranty companies. CARCHEX offered me two years and 30,000 miles for the money that I'm paying. The BMW warranty company that they go through, on the other hand, offered me five years and 100,000 miles for the same amount of money that I'm paying them monthly.

    Also, when I was trying to get back in contact with the young man who sold me the contract, for some reason, he returned my phone call one time. Then, when I called him back and left a couple of messages on his answering machine, he never called me back anymore. I had to turn around and email a young man who was a very important guy in the company in order to get some of this resolved. It bothered me because the guy also didn't return my phone call. Overall, I don't think I got a good deal with my contract.

    In the report they put together the inspector stated "nice car". I thought that I paid for Carchex to be my eyes for me because I purchased the car from out of state. I am partly disabled so I could not look under the car to find a very obvious oil leak. The inspector stated that there was a 1" paint chip in the front. If he would have looked just a little more closely he would have seen that the front paint has many cracks and scrapes from the bumper riding over parking lot retainer curb.

    If someone were to examine the hood and front passenger side fender they would have seen that it was repainted. The rear hatchback has a slight crease approximately 15" long running across that was not mentioned. The passenger side rear suspension has a damage shock. Do not think that this Carchex Company is going to do a complete inspection for you. What they will do is take your money and tell you that you have a nice car. By the way there is no guarantee. As others have stated, this is a scam.

    The other warranty had run out and I didn’t want to be stuck where I have something expensive to pay for out-of-pocket. I didn’t have the fund in my account when I called, so their rep and I set up for it to come out on that Friday. I liked the idea that I didn’t have to talk with her voice to voice on the phone. She sent an email saying the card was processed and she needed my mileage, and we went from there.

    I'm very happy with CARCHEX. When you have a car that is out of its manufacturer's warranty, you get all these calls from a whole bunch of CD-sounding scumbags who try and convince you that they are some sort of manufacturer's warranty. That they are from the warranty department and they have all these weird stories. They are from one particular provider trying to get you to give them a couple of thousand dollars so they can give you headaches down the road when you try to actually file a claim.

    So I did some research online and found CARCHEX. They had a lot of positive stuff so I called them up. They were an aggregator - they can shop around and find a provider. This is the second time I've used them on the same car. The first time was with another company and I spent $3,000 or $4,000 on a warranty and then I had something go out on my car. They covered it and I had a $100 deductible, so that was great. That was a win. For this second warranty I'm getting the same offer and it was similar to $3,000-$3,200 and they were able to get me a different provider that they said is going to be even easier to work with.     The purchasing experience with CARCHEX was okay. However I had to cancel the policy because my trucks got a plow on it, a straight exhaust, a chip in it and it's the way I bought it. They didn't tell me any of that until I got the documentation telling me that they won't cover anything on the vehicle if it's like that. CARCHEX policy is perfect – excellent deal, but it cost me 5 grand to get my truck back to start and I like the way it is. I’ve got to have the plow on it since I live in Alaska, and we’ve already got two and a half foot of snow up here.

    And they were rude because I wanted to cancel. They emailed me the form and I filled it out. I tried faxing it back like they asked me to do but the fax number wasn’t a valid number. So I called CARCHEX and they told me to email it instead. I bought it at the Excalibur over here in the Tri-Cities and after I bought it, they told me that there was no warranty on it. So I said, "Well, I'm gonna have to figure out some way to get a warranty because I don't want anything to happen." It matters organically because you have to have a technician working on the electronic equipment in these new cars nowadays. So, I got an extended coverage from CARCHEX and I'm very satisfied so far.

    Having a vehicle protection plan is very valuable. Anything can happen, one can never know. I purchased a used car and I don't have monthly payments because I purchased it outright.
