    I’ve used CARCHEX for at least two other vehicles and I’ve been pleased with the product. I wanted to have the car covered for major incidents. The reps explained the benefits and the cost and exactly what I wanted in an efficient manner. The agents answered my questions, were complete but also quick, and I got what I wanted. When we’ve had to use it, it was through a local service group. That was very easy, non-argumentative, just the facts and got the job done. Having a protection plan is very relieving as far as anxiety about what could happen. I know what the coverage is, the price was reasonable and the whole process was very easy. I would highly recommend CARCHEX to a family member or a friend.

    Well they called me every day and answered right away when they wanted me to buy their warranty. I took my truck to Brakes Plus and it needed a sensor that said it was covered in my book. They were on hold for over 2 hours waiting to get the part covered while my truck and I sat there. Customer service is only good until you buy the warranty I guess.

    My experience purchasing the extended warranty from CARCHEX was not very good. I got calls from about four different people all trying to sell me the same thing on the first few days. They were a little too pushy. Most people would like to think about it instead of getting inundated with phone calls time and time again. And then when we got down to it, they didn’t get the right name on my CARCHEX. I called them as soon as I got it, but Ralph had already gone home for the night then. The next day he called me back and I was gone. So, I called him earlier today, and I haven’t heard back from him. So, I’ve been waiting for a callback from Ralph to get that all set up right.

    I originally went with Delta Auto. They were a little bit cheaper and offered more. And they were really pushy. Then the guy from CARCHEX called me back, and I told him that I went with Delta Auto, and he told me to go to their website and look at the bottom. At the bottom, there’s something stated that it was not a real warranty service. The CARCHEX rep filled in all the info about Delta Auto. He told me that for the insurance industry, you need to be registered and you need to be backed. He also said that I would rather not have a warranty than have a warranty with these guys because it was gotta be a waste of money.

    Once I got in and looked at reviews, a lot of people were complaining they weren’t even serviced by Delta Auto. So, I went ahead and went with CARCHEX. They were not as pushy and it seemed like it was a better deal. The rep was really nice and he took time to explain everything. He went into detail about the extra, and that California is not a common state. He was pretty straightforward. The coverage seemed pretty good. It was half the price of what the dealer wanted, and it was more mileage too.

    I got an extended warranty on my car as a precaution and I got one from CARCHEX. It was easy to purchase from them and the rep I dealt with was able to answer my questions. I thought that my warranty had bumper-to-bumper coverage and CARCHEX would fix whatever little thing would be wrong with my car. I also thought they'd help if something was wrong with the car and if I was given a bad one, then I'd get another car or something. But I need to learn some more about this warranty. Lately, I’m supposed to get the brakes changed and I thought I wouldn’t have to pay anything, but I still gotta pay a little something. So I wish they'd could cover my brakes all the way

    When I contacted Carchex for a warranty after countless searches the salesman made me feel assured I made the right choice. The customer service experience from Larry ** was awesome. But that's the extent of good service from them. When it came down to filing a claim, AAMCO, who Carchex recommended had a very hard time reaching an adjuster for approval of repairs, stating a two hold hold time over the phone. Finally he couldn't reach them after submitting a contract. I took my car in for repairs listed as covered prior to that. However, not only did aamco not get through to an adjuster, I called to speak to one after waiting over a week just to get an approval while my car sat in the shop and my rental car payments accumulated that was to be reimbursed to me after all repairs were made.

    I was told prior to that anything listed on my contract was covered but I'd only have to pay for things not covered. Well Carchex adjusters finds ways to deny claims so nothing is covered. Also no coverage of repairs means no reimbursement of rental fees, no labor cost covered, and no diagnostic service needed covered.. I feel I was set up as I was told to just take my car and everything would be covered that I needed repaired except optional parts. That just to have nothing be covered at all because of an optional part that AAMCO needed to know if it was covered. So because of this Carchex wouldn't approve my claim even for the covered part.

    I spent a great deal on this and am out. This company is a total ripoff and scam. I should have known better after seeing them affiliated with AAA, and All State, who is the worse insurance company around. All State is known for such issues and Carchex warranties go them All State for approval of claims. All State is worse than all of their STUPID commercials. THE WORSE COMMERCIALS IN THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY!!!!

    First of all, let me be clear that Carchex is only one of the companies feeling my anger at the moment. I researched an extended warranty for my truck and thought I had chosen a reputable company with them. Boy was I wrong... My contact was sold, and then underwritten with American Auto Shield. I’ll leave it up to you folks to read their reviews (terrible.)

    My truck is at a DEALERSHIP to be fixed, I have already paid for diagnostics and the complete quote is ready. CARCHEX shady partnership company required a “independent” inspection of my vehicle and are now demanding the past 12 months service records. 1. I service my vehicle personally. 2. Demanding records outside of the time period when the contract was instituted and valid is ridiculous. 3. There is NO manufacturer recommended service related to exhaust manifolds, or motor mounts that can be produced.

    I hate to say it but I feel like I have been swindled. I thought I had an upstanding company to count on in the case of vehicle repairs and now all I have is extremely long wait times on the phone, arrogant customer service representatives, demands for things that don’t exist, and an even longer time for my truck to be repaired. I suggest that CARCHEX step up to the plate and do better for their customers!

    According to our records, you purchased your second policy from CARCHEX with both plans being administered by American Auto Shield. This was not hidden from you as you state in your review. After review of your calls with our staff, we confirmed our staff properly disclosed to you that the coverage was administered by American Auto Shield.

    You may recall the vehicle protection specialist summarizing your purchasing including the name of the administrator & finance company for your coverage. During this summary, you were advised of the contract length, expiration date of the coverage, and the amount of miles you were being covered. We advised you we do no cover pre-existing conditions, branded title, or modified vehicles before asking if you agree to the terms and conditions. Upon agreement to the terms, you were advised an electronic copy of your coverage was being emailed to you and a hard copy would arrive via US Mail within 7-10 days. Our representatives properly advised you to read the contract to ensure it meets your needs.

    With regards to your claim, the CARFAX report on your vehicle shows you were in the same repair shop you currently have working on your car on 2/8/2019 with 100,353 miles on the odometer. The CARFAX report shows you were in for AC concerns. Your shop called in repairs including a knock sound from the AC system. With the coverage being purchased 2/13/2019 with 100,501 miles, the administrator is well within their rights in the terms and conditions of your coverage to request this maintenance record especially when the current repairs are for the same concerns documented 5 days prior to purchase. At this time, this record is required to proceed with your claim.

    It's very important to have a warranty, for peace of mind. Acquiring one is a smart thing to do. I looked at four or five other warranty providers, and CARCHEX had a better package.     The warranty on our vehicle was almost up and it’s very valuable for us to have a warranty for this vehicle because we have a lot of electronics in it. We wanna make sure we're covered while we have it. When I did my research, I could see all over that CARCHEX was rated the highest over other providers. They had great customer service and the price was better than what the dealership provided. I got four offers and CARCHEX was just very accommodating and didn't hound me on the phone as other people did. I got some people calling me 20 times a day, CARCHEX didn't try to do that. The rep was willing to listen to us about the particular coverage we're looking for and work within our budget and the timeframe that we needed to get everything done. I was really happy with them.

    I’ve been looking for extended warranty because mine ran out. I called the dealership and they said they weren’t gonna offer anything because my car is seven years old. I was googling and I called Endurance, but they wanted a deposit. I wasn’t gonna do that because I never heard of such a thing of having to put a deposit down. I went back online and I was still googling and I came across CARCHEX. I called them to get a quote and see what they could offer me.

    The lady that I talked to was super nice and she talked about the company itself. I had to give my VIN number for the car and then she told me she could offer me a 100 deductible which is only $50 more for the Titanium coverage plan. And then she gave me some discounts. She gave me two plans, one for 18 months and one for 24 months. And the one for 18 months is like 132, and then the 24 months is about 105. For the Titanium, it covers everything from what she told me and I’m gonna take her word for it. So, for $105, it wasn't too bad a deal for 24 months.

    I've been having some problems with my vehicle. So I wanted to make sure that I was covered. I googled the top extended coverage provider and found the number one; however, they don’t cover California. CARCHEX came up as number two and they cover California. So, I just went with them and they gave me a really good rate. The guy that I spoke to was very helpful, knowledgeable about the plan, and he gave me a sense of security. It covers bumper-to-bumper for all major issues, which is very valuable. Now, I’m able to move on with my life knowing that if my car decides to act up again, it’s covered and I’m covered. You don’t have to worry about paying large sums of money out of your pocket. With only $200 deductible, that’s doable rather than paying a $2,000 out-of-pocket.

    We just bought a new car and the dealership tried to sell us an extended warranty, but it was closer to $4,500. We have them on our other vehicles but we broke the bank getting them. The car was only $9,500 so I couldn't fathom tacking on an additional $4,500. That's half the car, so it didn't make any sense to do that. So, I just told them I declined theirs and just looked elsewhere and I found CARCHEX. I looked it up on Consumer Reports. Purchasing was easy. It was just a phone call. The rep was very nice. I've only had the protection plan for a few days, but it's peace of mind because I'm not worried now about the what-ifs. I hope I never have to use it. But if I do, I hope CARCHEX is who they say they are. I would recommend them.

    I’m an employee of Mattress Firm and CARCHEX is one of our employee perks. My car had a high mileage and it’s older. Purchasing from CARCHEX was seamless and cut-and-dried. I spoke with the gentleman on the phone it was all done over the phone. I told them what I was looking for, and then it became qualifying questions, like, "Why you’re looking for this? What is the mileage on your vehicle? This is what we can do for you, and this is what we can do…” It was just a back-and-forth dialogue. I just received my welcome packet yesterday in the mail.     My car is used. Even though it’s still low mileage, it’s always a safe choice to get warranty especially on used cars, and you don’t know what to expect. The machine could break down in the future. CARCHEX offered the highest amount for repairs among all companies. They usually give me about 10 grand. CARCHEX gives about 15,000. Also, it has a couple of awards that other companies didn’t achieve from earlier years and they’ve been around for quite some time. Their online reviews are great. The protection plan is very good and the experience was awesome. Very good interaction, good customer service, got what I needed and overall great experience. I like that they help out with the veterans from the military. That is a plus because they assisted me very well with the discount and it dropped my payments significantly.     We were getting a vehicle that has a bit more mileage on it. So, we were looking for something to make sure we're covered through how many expensive repairs coming up.     I would like to have a warranty on my cars just like the extended warranty. I had CARCHEX before with my previous car. With the first policy I had, my only problem was the dealer recommended a new transmission for my BMW, but they didn’t want to put a new transmission so they ended up rebuilding it. Six months later it broke down again, so it was work for them. But other than that, I never had any problem with CARCHEX.

    I've had a bad experience with another auto warranty company where they replaced stuff begrudgingly and took almost a month to do it, and it broke. I wanted somebody that was more reliable, and that's why I chose CARCHEX. I liked the option for wear and tear, and that made me decide to go with them instead of Endurance. I talked with a representative. It was Sunday. He brought up the wear and tear thing because it was his job to say, "Here's why we're better than Endurance. Endurance will hassle you.     The vehicle I purchased has a lot of miles on it, but I will be driving only on the weekend. I went online and found that CARCHEX was a 4 out of 5 stars, and read the reviews, and I thought why not just give it a try. At first, I started not to go with them, but then they gave me a discount. They had a lot more to offer than the previous company I was working with. Also, they showed good customer service. I felt like they were down-to-earth. They weren’t robotic or mechanical like most people over the phone. I understand they make a commission, but they let me know that they can guarantee me a good service, so I felt confident.

    The only thing I did not like was I had to reach 1,000 miles. I'm a bus driver so I drive my bus during weekdays and I take it home. I only drive my car on the weekends, so I know I won't be able to put 1,000 miles on it. It may take me 180 days driving to put that many miles on it. But that’s the only thing I didn’t like. The payment plan fit my budget. They started at one number, then they lowered it.

    With CARCHEX you cannot make a claim unless it has been 30 days and you have to put an additional 1000 miles from your odometer read from the date of purchase. Know this before you buy contract w/ CARCHEX.

    As we discussed, the validation period is required in conjunction with the 30 day money back guarantee and to ensure the vehicle is in good working order at the time of purchase. The insurer of the vehicle requires both 30 days and 1000 miles as an alternative to requiring a full mechanical inspection prior to purchase of the Vehicle Service Contract.

    Any repairs that are diagnosed prior to purchase or confirmed to have occurred during the validation period are considered to be pre-existing issues and are not eligible for coverage.

    I wanted to have the peace of mind of not having to worry about taking the car in and needing some work on it. The current car that I have is a BMW and maintenance on it can be very expensive.     With cars being as complex as they are electronically nowadays, I figured having the extended coverage would be a wise idea. I was going with another company to start with 'cause they contacted me first, but when I started getting two different bits of information, one from the representative and one from the manager, they were not matching stories. Then they told me they couldn't offer the same offer if I called back, and it sounded a little shady to me. I really appreciated that CARCHEX was understanding and pretty easy to deal with, and it seemed like everybody was on the same page, unlike the first company I spoke to.

    One of the things that was really nice was I felt like the representative went the extra mile because the car had just a hair over 100,000 miles, which usually makes it a lower package. But he asked, since it was so close to the 1,000-mile marker, if they could do the more premium package for me. So, I really appreciated that. Also, I told them that I wanted to make a monthly payment. He talked to his manager and his manager reduced it a little bit and still kept it within the 18 months. I'm extraordinarily happy with the experience. The one thing that stood out about the coverage was that it covers all the internal electrical components, some that could potentially fail under high use.

    I bought a car from a dealer and I thought that it would be good. They had all the mechanics who could check the car out and they would know if there was anything wrong with it. When I went to sign the papers, though, the loan guy told me that there was no warranty on the car. I didn't think anything about it and I just said okay. Well, I had the car for less than 30 days and a wheel bearing already went out and cost me $1,200. I knew that there were extended warranties and so I then started really researching about them. CARCHEX was one of the top two in the articles that I read so I decided to give them a call because I sure didn't want to go through what I went through again. There were also a lot of comments by people who had taken out their coverage who seemed happy with their response time and felt like anything that goes wrong with the car is covered.

    The guy I worked with was really good. He told me that they would be sending me a big packet of information about the coverage and that I had 30 days to opt out if I found anything that concerned me. However, he already took the money out of my bank account but I haven't received an email from him since nor a tangible thing to look at. That was four weeks ago. Also, if they’re doing their sales presentation and writing the contract on the phone, it will be helpful to refer customers to a place online where there's a commonly asked questions section, or a chat line where you can ask questions so you have some backup.

    I have a 2016 X6 BMW and I spoke to one of my neighbors in the building that I live in who also has a BMW. He told me that if I don't have an extended warranty from the dealer, I might want to look into something because BMW is a very expensive car to repair. I looked online and received two quotes.     They do a great job of making you feel great parting with thousands of dollars for a warranty that looks great on paper. What they don't tell you is THEY do not provide this warranty. They farm you out to one of those companies that have the seriously negative reviews. We ended up with American Auto Shield. We had to make a serious claim shortly after the warranty went into effect, and here it is over three weeks later and still no work has even started on our vehicle. It also turns out that they do not ever replace parts with "genuine" parts (in our case Porsche), they source used (even when there is a known issue with the part, also happened in our case), refurbished, then off-brand parts.

    Only in the rare case when none of these options are found will they (maybe?) approve the repair with the genuine part. We will never find out since we chose to cancel vise deal with the pain of this claim process further on this claim, much less any more. Every single call to check on the status of the claim, not exaggerating, lasted at 20 minutes of hold time, often going over an hour. After all this trouble and still nothing to show for it, CARCHEX is CHARGING us to cancel AND not giving us a full refund. I will never deal with an extended warranty ever again. I would not trust these people with your money or your vehicle.

    Thank you for your review. We apologize for the frustration you have experienced with your claim and have addressed this matter with the contract administrator. They are currently experiencing staffing issues that they are working to resolve.

    While the amount of hold time and delays is 100% unacceptable, we show the claim filed 9 days into active coverage, requiring a proper diagnosis and inspection of the failures to your transfer case and brake systems, is in the process of being approved. Most customers see the value in having several thousand dollars paid out in the first few months of coverage but we understand that your time is very important to you.

    With regards to your contract concerns and claims that CARCHEX did not fully disclose the terms of your coverage, we are happy to address this.

    According to our records, you purchased coverage for a 2009 Porsche Cayenne on 1/23/2019. After several conversations with our staff where discounts and additional miles were requested, you purchased the coverage online via our CARCHEX Direct Portal. The CARCHEX Direct portal clearly states the name of the contract administrator and provides a sample contract that also states the contract is administered by a 3rd party.

    On 1/31/2019, you contacted the CARCHEX Customer Loyalty Department to cancel this coverage because you traded in the 2009 Porsche Cayenne for a 2012 Porsche Cayenne. Our team assisted you with cancellation of the coverage, set up new coverage for the 2012 Porsche, and applied your FULL refund to the new contract.

    On this call, our representative read you a required purchase summary word for word and advised you American Auto Shield was the administrator of the coverage. Our representative advised you of the cancellation policy including the 30 day money back guarantee and pro-rated refund due after 30 days. You were advised to read your contract including the coverage, maintenance requirements, and exclusions to ensure the coverage meets your needs. After this summary, you agreed to the terms of the purchase.

    A confirmation of purchase was emailed to you with a digital copy of the coverage and a Hard Copy of the coverage was mailed to you as well. Both contracts clearly state the policy approves claims with parts of Like, Kind and Quality and can include OEM, Aftermarket, re-manufactured, or used parts at the administrator's discretion. Like, Kind, and Quality requires the administrator to approve parts that meet the manufacturers OEM specification and typically include a minimum of a 12 months parts and labor warranty.

    The contract administrator advised if you do not wish to use the like, kind, and quality parts, you may choose to have the approved amount applied towards the costs of the repair using the preferred parts. According to the records, you advised the administrator you would prefer to just cancel the coverage. The claim is now administratively closed at your request.

    In the meantime, cancellation instructions have been emailed to you by our Customer Loyalty team. Upon receipt of your written request to cancel, a pro-rated refund will be calculated based on the time/miles under coverage. Because you paid for your coverage in full, the majority of your money will be refunded to you based on the limited time and miles under coverage.

I had chosen another provider but they still haven’t sent me any paperwork that they said they were going to. On the other hand, CARCHEX matched the same thing and added some extra things. I just received my package in the mail that they said I will receive, and it explained all the coverage. The sales rep was good. He was knowledgeable and got me a bunch of discounts.     When the factory warranty on my vehicle ran out, I wanted to get extra protection. I mostly wanted to have the engine coverage.     The initial experience with CARCHEX was fine. They answered all my questions to the best of their ability. However, there were certain things that they did not offer and I wanted to cancel the policy. I've only had them for four days and I'm not trying to use another policy. But the way they go about their cancellation of having to write a letter in and doing all of that stuff seems silly when you can sign up and do it over the phone. They clearly have the technology because they can sign me up like that, so it's a matter of making it more difficult for people to cancel.

    Thank you for your review. While we understand your frustration, once the coverage is active and sent to the insurer, all cancellations require written notification from the contract holder. There have been too many instances in the Vehicle Service Contract industry where a customer has called after a verbal request to cancel to start a major claim and said that was not them on the call. These instances usually end up in litigation.

    To avoid this from escalating into legal matters, the insurers of the Vehicle Service Contracts began requiring a written request. This is the standard in the industry.

    I bought a used vehicle and ended up looking at CARCHEX after reading bad reviews about the company that came up as number one. I asked the CARCHEX guy 10,000 questions in five different ways, and I liked what he told me so I went with them. He answered all my questions. He was very professional and personable. His name was Ryan. I don’t remember people’s names but I remember his so that shows how much of an impression he made on me. He was a wonderful guy. It took me three days to make a decision and I asked him to not bug me, and to call me back in a day or so. Then the second time we spoke, I told him I hadn’t made my decision yet. And then he waited two more days and called me back, and then I made decision. He was very patient.

    The only thing I didn’t like about the CARCHEX warranty was the fact that they didn’t have a 36-month financing plan like some of the other companies do. And $150 a month is high. But I have to have the warranty with a used vehicle so I just knuckled under, and I just have to do a little extra work. I spent $10,000 on the truck and it's very valuable having the warranty for if anything happens to it. If its engine burns up tomorrow, I don’t necessarily have the $3,000 or $4,000 to put a new engine in it. That’s where the warranty comes in. I told my parents to buy a warranty with CARCHEX too.

    I purchased an extended warranty via Carchex for my 2005 Mercedes. I was told the warranty I purchased covered quite a bit. Even says in the paperwork it covers my fuel system. However when something else, like an electrical issue going to the fuel system ruins the fuel system, they denied covering my fuel system repair because electrical isn't covered. I also have some engine issues they won't cover that are "pre-existing". Not sure how they determined that. Bottom line, I thought I got a good extended warranty, unfortunately they were only good at taking my money but not covering anything found wrong with my car via the Mercedes dealership. So I cancelled my warranty coverage with them. I will say they were very helpful in cancelling it via phone.

    Repair costs are too expensive to bear by myself anymore. So, when I purchased the car, I needed a warranty as it didn't come with one. I had a warranty with CARCHEX before and it seemed like a good company. The coverage was also good and the way that they handled themselves were professional and thorough. Also, their reps handled our interaction very efficiently. I ended up talking with their manager there. The package I received from CARCHEX is great. I haven’t read through line-by-line so that I fully understand what is included and what isn’t. But the package appears to be okay on the surface.     I wasn’t pleased with the coverage of the plan that I had, so I cancelled it and called CARCHEX to change. I drive a convertible and the convertibles are never covered by vehicle protection plans and getting it fixed is ungodly expensive. CARCHEX covers the motor where all the others don’t even cover the motor on a convertible top. CARCHEX had the most extensive ability to cover the most expensive parts. Purchasing the plan was extremely easy. I knew what I wanted and I just needed to negotiate a price. Also, their rep did very well. I liked that he was here in the United States and that I wasn’t dealing with a foreign country with English as a second language, so the conversation was smooth.     I purchased a brand new 2019 Ford F-150 and Ford only offered me a three-year, 36,000 miles warranty. They were much too expensive to get anything further than that. So, I was trying to search for something that was gonna be a bit more affordable for me as far as payment-wise. I would reach 36,000 miles sooner versus later, and I wanna have that support and some extra protection on the vehicle. The warranty that I can afford was a 60,000-mile one and that one there was 28 hundred bucks. I did sign up for it, but then I went back and canceled it.

    There was this one company that I checked on and I spoke with a guy who was very nice, but I read some bad reviews that they were a scam and that they weren't gonna cover what they said. They refunded my money, which was a good thing and I was happy about that. Then, I did another company called Endurance but I had a bad experience with them. So then, I did a little more research and CARCHEX popped up. They were the third best warranty to get. I read some reviews and a lot of people were pleased, and whatever parts they needed covered were covered. I'm a big review person and the reviews made me choose CARCHEX. It made me feel comfortable to go ahead and give them a chance.

    I got a good price from CARCHEX. I paid them the money and it has been a week since I made a purchase from them. The rep who I dealt with at CARCHEX was very nice and informative. He took his time and took care of my concerns. He also informed me that they cover emission parts, which a lot of warranty places do not. He went through everything and also informed me that Endurance company is no longer recognized by the Better Business Bureau. So, he was glad that I didn't go with Endurance. He ensured me that if I ever have a problem, to call him directly because he is my representative. I recommend CARCHEX, although I'm getting a little leery because I still haven't received any kind of welcome package. The rep said it would take two days to get the package. I'm hoping I would get the package soon.

    When I googled CARCHEX, they had good reviews. Purchasing extended coverage from them was simple, but the price was a bit above than what I wanted. I went online, read about it and then I called. The rep had great customer service skills. He didn’t put other companies down, which was a plus for me. I called one company prior that day and they were constantly putting down other companies. I wasn’t interested in hearing about other companies. I wanted to hear about the company I was purchasing from. He made it easy for me. A vehicle protection plan is valuable these days. My car has a lot of electronics in it. And when you start to talk about electronics, the price could get really costly. Plus, you never know what to expect nowadays.

In addition to that, they told me it was bumper-to-bumper and my version of bumper-to-bumper is different than theirs, and that was confusing. After I hung up, I had to speak with other people to verify what I was up against and what I should do. In fact, when I talked to auto mechanics, they didn’t seem to think that Carchex is gonna cover what they said they would.

    When I started reading, it started telling things that it didn’t cover, and it was stuff that should have been under bumper-to-bumper. The person at Carchex made it clear to me that it covered everything except for regular maintenance. But when it came right down to it, it was more than just regular maintenance that it didn’t cover. I asked him when I called back, and he told me it's because it's an extended warranty bumper-to-bumper. But he did not differentiate between the two, and I have never heard of a difference between the two. In my book, if it's bumper-to-bumper, it's bumper-to-bumper except for routine maintenance, your tires or your windshield wipers. Everything else, it should cover and Carchex does not.

    I bought a car coverage for my daughter. It's for an older vehicle. I bought the coverage for her so that she'd have something to repair her car in case it had mechanical problems. She planned on keeping it for several years, and she'll have 150,000 on it by then, and I won't have to pay for expensive repairs.     Also, the representatives were fairly clear. However, the whole thing was kind of a pricing game so they lowered their prices each time I called and they finally wouldn't.     I called these individuals after doing a standard consumer review on a Saturday morning and asked their representative if they offer extended warranties for my vehicle which is 12 years old and has less than 86,000 miles on her. I was asked if I had all of my service records and I do. I was then told the California rep was busy but would call me back. Please keep in mind that I now have a verbal confirmation to go with what their website stated (warranties to vehicles which are less than 15 years old or having less than 150,000 miles).

    I did not receive a callback! I called them again on 3/12/2019 and the California representative would not even get on the phone with me. Instead he had the answering representative tell they don’t offer warranties in the state of California to vehicles older than 10 years old!!! Why not state this up front instead of wasting my time with false expectations? Makes you wonder how well would their service be if/once you are a customer???

    Given the nature of my car, something could go wrong with it and it could be expensive. I also got emails about warranties all the time and I decided to look into it. CARCHEX was one of those people that reached out to me, so I talked to them. I also looked online a little bit about them and I liked what I read. Then reading their contract and so forth, it all seemed solid. So, I decided to purchase from them. I ended up with a plan that pretty much covers the car except for the obvious things that it doesn’t cover. The rep who assisted me was good and he answered a bunch of my questions. When I really pressed for some details, he brought on his manager who answered the few questions that he couldn’t or maybe he just brought his manager in to close the deal.

    Even after the fact, I poked around a little bit more about CARCHEX and it's sort of a mixed bag. As with anything you look on, there were people complaining about them but I'm kind of used to that mixed bag, so I'm hoping that they're for real and that things will work out. So far, I haven't seen how the warranty actually works if I ever need it but I'm happy with them.

    One of the worst companies to deal with and I am so glad that I decided to cancel my warranty plan. They're super fast to get you a warranty, set up interest free payment plans and get your credit card info for the first payment. DO NOT GET CAUGHT! Hold time for sales - 0.5 seconds. Hold time for customer service - No one picks up most of the time and they have you leave a message and never call you back. Try for yourself if you don't believe me. They have about 10 times more people for sales than for customer service. It tells you how much you're worth to them after you purchase. And here's the cancellation process after you purchase directly from the email I got.

    "Below are the instructions for canceling the Vehicle Protection Plan on your... Please write a letter including all of the requested information below and mail to: Attention: CARCHEX Processing Department 118 Shawan Road Suite 210 Baltimore MD, 21030. Cancellation Requests Must Include: Today’s Date. First and Last Name. Address. Vehicle Year, Make, and Model. Vin Number. Cancellation Odometer Reading. Contract #. Select one of the Following Reasons: A. Vehicle Sold or Traded (Please include Bill of Sale or Trade in Documentation). B. Repossession/Theft/Total Loss (Please include Total Loss Documentation or Police Report). C. Coverage Didn’t Meet Needs. D. Too Expensive. E. Claims Dispute. Customer Signature. Please note that cancellations are processed based on the terms of the vehicle service contract. If there is a refund due, please allow 45-60 days for the refund to be processed."

    Seriously? Write a letter to that address for a cancellation? We're living in 2019 and they process their cancellations through mail only! I could only imagine trying to get a claim through these guys. Do a bit of research for yourself and read some of the reviews people give their providers. The one I got was "American Auto Shield". You do not get your warranty through Carchex. They just sell contracts. I would stay away from this company. Their business model is set up around persuasive sales, extreme tight policies with wording that give them enough leverage to deny most claims and worst customer service.

    We just bought the vehicle and it's for my daughter who lives out of town. And we just didn't wanna have any problems creep up that we couldn't easily get fixed for her, so we looked into getting an extended coverage. I've never bought it before because being at home, if we have vehicle issues, my husband can easily go take care of things and get things fixed.     The car dealership provided a more expensive option for an extended warranty, so I looked at alternative options. I requested a quote from CARCHEX and they got back to me.     I've been very hesitant to get an extended warranty because I've heard of horror stories with extended warranty companies. You pay all that money and then, when it’s time to get it, they tell you stuff like, “Oh, well, this isn’t covered. Well, that’s not covered,” and they are some things you thought were covered. But I thought I’d give it a shot. I have an expensive luxury car, so I wanted to make sure that the stuff was covered.

    I was going to get extended coverage for my vehicle with the dealership, but it was a bit too expensive and they wanted all the money upfront. I couldn’t do it, so I had to go with someone like CARCHEX. I always check the reviews and CARCHEX had some of the best reviews. There was one company that had better reviews, but the person that I dealt with at CARCHEX was persistent. The other companies just called one time and that was it, while the one at CARCHEX called several times. He would call me back when he needed to and he didn’t give up.     I had just purchased a new, used vehicle. I bought an extended warranty and went with CARCHEX because of the customer service. The rate that the rep had given me was actually, originally, more than what I had checked with someone else, but then, still, he worked things out for me. The guy that I dealt with, Jerel, was really great. He broke down all the coverages for me because I had questions about the differences between the different coverages. So, he told me what he suggested for me, and then, I had questions about the other coverages. He was very knowledgeable because I had a hard time reading the contract, the stuff that he had sent me. It was just so much and it was a little bit overwhelming.

    Maybe they could make the contract a little bit easier to read and understand, make bigger bullet points for the most important things that people look for and then not so much fine print 'cause that fine print is a lot of fine print. But he took the time to go through it with me and that was what I appreciated the most because I did as best as I could, looking over it by myself, but I still needed him. Hearing it verbally helped make sure that it’s stuck in my head. So, I'm good to go. I'm happy with my experience with CARCHEX. I hope, though, if I need anything, the service is still the same way.

    It was pretty easy to sign up with CARCHEX. When they called and explained everything to me, it seemed pretty much straightforward until I got the book and read all the fine print. After reading through some of the paperwork, I’m probably gonna be cancelling it. This is because of all the stipulations or as to what it covers and how it’ll cover it.

    One of the things that sold me on it was they said gaskets and seals were included. But upon reading the book when they sent it to me, the only way a gasket is replaced is if something else goes out that would cause that to be bad. And if it is something else that is not part of what is covered goes out and causes the head gasket to go out, they're not gonna cover it. I do a lot of the maintenance work on all my vehicles myself. I used to work on cars. And from reading through this book, I have to take my car somewhere to even have the oil changed. I can do the work, but with the warranty, I’m not able to do it myself like I always have. I have to go spend two or three times what it would normally cost me just to change oil.

    Purchasing a warranty from Carchex is proving to be the worst decision I've ever made. It's nearly impossibly to get anyone on the phone besides the sales department. I took my car to the shop on Friday (15th) in the morning and they attempted to call the claims department all day, only to be met with long hold times and messaging services, and never received a callback. The claims department is only open Monday through Friday, so good luck if your car has issues after 5 pm EST or on the weekend.

    After reaching someone in the sales department, I was assured my case would be escalated and I'd get a call first thing Monday morning. Monday comes with no phone call so after several, several calls between me, Customer service and my repair shop, I'm told that the company rejected the part quoted and is going to try to find their own that they can have shipped in. Meanwhile, I'm STILL without a car, or a rental car because they can only approve that once the claim had been processed. Do yourself a favor and do NOT purchase a warranty here.

    I purchased an Auto Warranty through Carchex a few months ago. I was pleased that they had a great score due to reviews. Sales guy was pleasant and helpful. Recently, I began having engine issues and took my vehicle to the dealership. After having it inspected and notifying Carchex I get a call from a company called Buyers Choice?? They drag their heels, keep the dealership on hold, threaten to make me pay to have engine broke down so they can determine whether they are going to cover repair. So I research Buyers Choice and it is actually an auto warranty company called Royal Administration. They have a one star rating and a history of denials and trying to scare off claims by having the motor broke down at customer's cost.     I have a new vehicle with high miles so I needed to acquire an extended warranty. I submitted five online quotes to the top companies that I found through Google and CARCHEX was the first company to contact me. I knew what package I wanted but they told me what I qualified for based on the miles and the vehicle. There was a bit of pressure purchasing the warranty. I told them that I wanna shop around but they lowered the price.

    Last Friday February 7th 2019 I had a belt brake on my truck that is under warranty with Carchex. I did not have the policy with me at the time or the number of the roadside company that is not a part of Carchex. I called Carchex the first time at 9:30 am and told them that I did not the information on my warranty with me. They transfers to the roadside number. I informed them that I was broke down and needed a tow for the truck. They called a tow company and they said the tow truck was on the way.

    An hour later the tow company calls me and ask me where I am at, after they were told where I was at in detail asking where I was at. I told them right down to the address near me again. The dispatcher then told me he had to call me back to see if they were going to come get me. 45 minutes later I call Carchex again. They again transfer me to roadside assistance. I tell them what was going on. They try to call the tow company, they could not get them on the phone. They get another tow company called Red Line Towing. They say they will get me. So roadside pays them and tells me it will be one hour.

    An hour and a half later they had not shown up. So back to Carchex and over to roadside. They call the tow company and they tell them they are on the way, an hour later still no tow truck. I could go on about having to call to get a tow and what went on. But the long and the short of it is, it took to 5:00 pm to get a tow truck to me. And then it was over the price they pay for a tow so I had to come out of pocket for what they did not pay the tow company. When I called Carchex the next day, they told me that they have no control over roadside. They wanted to do nothing to make me feel better. But when you sell a warranty to a customer, then you need to own the fact of what happens with your customer. Would I tell another about Carchex, No way - not after what I had to put up with.

    We bought a used car and it came with no warranty. It is a Cadillac and the repair expenses would be very expensive. So, we need a little help on the repairs, if and when it should happen. We had called a couple of people and they never got back with us a whole lot. And I contacted the dealer, and the car has a reconstructed title. So, not very many companies would accept that. CARCHEX was able to work with that, but I had second thoughts about doing it because the warranty was very expensive.

    Other than that, the reps at CARCHEX were nice guys. They're great salespeople. They made the different policies and options sound really good. Now, I got the contract that tells me about the warranty in the mail and there are a lot of loopholes in it. There are so many things that the warranty excludes. I was under the impression that it would be a bumper-to-bumper, and I really don't think it is. The rep said it’s bumper-to-bumper. We've had several new cars, and with the way I understand it, bumper-to-bumper means you take your car in for any problem, and it is completely taken care of. This is not the case with CARCHEX. There are several things that you go in for that they may not cover.

    Updated on 02/25/2019: 5th week and the shop still can't get anyone to answer phone for authorization. Countless phone calls and over 20 hours on hold. The repair shop will not accept any more Carchex warranties due to Carchex and American Auto Shield not performing as our contract is written (bumper to bumper) $4600.00 premium policy. Absolute waste of time and money. I have reporter from newspaper investigating with shop and other customers shop has had same experience with. Also have been corresponding with 60 minutes trying to set up interview with myself, repair shop and other upset customers I have found locally.

    Attorneys general's office in Maryland is involved and BBB has been contacted also. I am in communication with an attorney gathering up all the people he can find from reviews to start a class action lawsuit for insurance fraud. State of Arizona Dept. of Insurance is aware of myself and others with the same problem. Please be aware that you could be just like me and others getting scammed by Carchex!

    Original review: Bought extended plan bumper to bumper. My car has been in shop 2 weeks and shop cannot get them to authorize repairs because every time he gets transferred they hang up on him. He spent 12 hrs on hold in a weeks time and every time I call I get the runaround also. They claim they are having phone problems but for 2 weeks? Absolute waste of money and I'm without my car? Our CEO has spoken personally to his counterpart at the administrator and has been given reassurances that they are doing everything possible to get this issue resolved. We have also asked that an adjuster call your repair shop right away to get the claim moving forward.

    Please be aware the administrator had a planned phone upgrade scheduled and it coincided with the extreme cold weather that went across the country over the last few weeks which greatly increased the volume of claims calls. This has caused extreme hold times and very frustrating claims experiences for our customers, the repair shops, and for CARCHEX as we cannot quickly get through by phone either.

    Keep in mind, your administrator has been in business for over 20 years, has maintained an A+ rating with the BBB and has always been a great administrator to work with prior to these issues.

    We are confident the issues will greatly improve starting Monday 2/18/19 as the administrator has assured us the phone upgrade will be completed this weekend and additional adjusters will be added starting Monday morning to help resolve the phone issues and hold times.

    My first call with CARCHEX seemed rushed. It seemed like the reps were trying to get me signed up right then. I told them that I needed to wait a few days but then I wouldn't let my mileage go over. I called back a couple of times and the next gentleman whom I spoke with answered my questions and explained everything to me. We talked about payment and the timeframe of the warranty.

    Thereafter, I was able to go and read reviews and called back again. I told CARCHEX that I had several questions based on the reviews I read and that the reviews were alarming to me. I said that the reviews said that some repairs aren't covered. The rep explained that the reviewers probably weren’t explaining that they didn't get this type of warranty and that they probably just got the basic one. I responded by saying that if the reviewers are saying that the rep told them that what they were purchasing covered everything, how was that incorrect.     There were only 16,000 miles left in the manufacturer's warranty, so I wanted an extended coverage for my vehicle. I looked around for warranty providers and CARCHEX' name popped up. I made a phone call to them and Raul, the guy that I talked to was helpful and we worked out something that's very reasonable. I purchased the seven-year, 125,000, bumper-to-bumper coverage from CARCHEX. Raul explained how everything goes, but that was a lot of information to take in. He told me how to get to the information online, but I didn't see it when I went online, so I requested a package with the information. If I have a hard copy, then I can work with that. They're gonna send me the information for the things that I am paying for and I'm still waiting for my package to go through, but I've had a pretty good experience with them so far.

    Having this extended warranty has give me peace of mind because I don't know what's gonna happen with these new vehicles and all these electronics on them. My primary concern is not so much the engine but the transmissions and the electronics. It doesn't take much to add up when you're working with those electronics and trying to repair them. I would definitely recommend CARCHEX to anyone that was buying a car.

    When purchasing the warranty I was informed the engine and turbos of my car are covered. Go to put in a claim and lo and behold they find a way to say it's not covered. This was not a hose that failed. This was not a return line. This is a part that is in the engine that feeds the turbos oil. But they find a way to claim it's not a spelled out part of coverage... I am sorry I do not know every working part of the engine to ask specific parts. You tell me my engine and turbos are covered. You tell me oil leaks are covered... Then authorize the repair on the claim... and this is not the first issue I have had with this company. Horrible.

    CARCHEX was competitive on the price and the reviews sounded like most people were pretty happy with them. I wanted just about bumper-to-bumper, just like what the factory warranty would've been. The representative explained everything to me when I was purchasing the plan. We had a good conversation. He answered every question I had and he gave me his direct number. If I had any future problems or questions, I would just call him and he would explain.

    I haven't had a chance to really read through the whole plan. But I skimmed through it 'cause the rep wanted to make sure that it did have the luxury package check marked, and then some kind of emission, and both of them were checked on it. He told me to make sure I got that coverage on the plan. If you talk to other people, they say it's a waste of money to get a warranty. There are too many electronic things on this vehicle that could go wrong. They're not like the old cars, where it's just a motor and transmission. There are so many little things that can fail.

    My vehicle has 73,000 miles and although I feel comfortable in this vehicle, you never know. I've always done the maintenance but something might sneak up on you. I also know it can't run forever. I was looking for the most coverage I could get and my decision to go with CARCHEX was all about affordability. The representative who worked with me initially went over things but at the time, I told him I wasn’t interested. If I had that much problem getting a hold of them with no problem, how much problem would I have when I need to get a hold of them?     I had an extended warranty on my wife's car and they came in handy from time to time. But when we had an issue which was the easiest prepared ordeal I’d ever gone through, they were finding the best deal and turning it around and offering it to whoever. So, I went through wherever the advertising was and CARCHEX had a mixed bag of reviews. There were pages and pages of con reviews than pro reviews so I took a chance and I will see what happens. The purchasing part was getting the guy on the phone and talking to him. He was very knowledgeable and he knew what was going on. But they were hounding me and I got a call every 15 minutes which was a bit overdoes. Our interaction went fine after the 20th phone that they made.

    However, I did not like that I had to agree on the phone to a document I have not seen. I can see it online but they were supposed to be sending me the documents. They told me 7 to 14 days but it has taken them two weeks for something that takes 10 minutes to print out and mail to me. It is sort of difficult to do stuff when I don't have a document in my hand. Also, they should not have had me agree to something I can't see before they follow through with stuff and it was a little odd to me. Nevertheless, the experience after I got them on the phone was good.
