    I've used Stateway three times and had a good experience with them. I had called other transport companies too, but since Stateway was responsive, I got them to move my vehicle.     I did a search on transport company and saw that Stateway is located in Wheeling, Illinois which is very close to where I live. Knowing they were nearby gave me some comfort. It has been a great experience with them during the first time and the whole experience every year has been very good, easy and has worked out quite well without any problems. This would be the fourth year I've used Stateway. I spend the winters in Florida and I ship my car down there every year and I usually drive it home. In future years, I will probably ship my car both ways. The customer service representative was very knowledgeable. I had no difficulty going through the scheduling process. The people in Stateway have always been very courteous and extremely helpful. They had records of my previous shipment so they knew who I was. Their level of service was outstanding. I recommended them to a friend and I believe he used them as well.

    I bought a new car and it was a cross country so I needed to ship it and chose Stateway because of the reviews on the internet. The quote they gave was fair. Also, the customer service rep was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and excellent. I had the same guy and he was definitely first class all the way through.     I purchased my vehicle in Ohio and because of its distance to my house, I needed to ship it. I decided to go with Stateway over other transport companies because I like their people. They were confident they could get it. Also, they didn't just give me all the problems associated with it but they always had a solution for getting it to me. And they looked like they were well insured. Moreover, I had an easy time with their customer service rep. They were confident that they could do it. I wasn’t scared of them and they knew what they were talking about and scheduled it rapidly. It was fast and easy.

    Overall, it was an excellent experience. The truck was in good shape, it came on time and the guy was courteous. They were brokering the job. Whatever they did, they did it right and the people were right. I was completely satisfied. The only thing that wasn’t perfect was it wasn’t free. They were professional and took care of me.

    My boyfriend needed to move from Florida to New Mexico and he wasn’t able to drive his vehicle out, so we had it shipped. We hired Stateway because they had the best prices. The quote that they gave us was very reasonable and they were able to get back to us right away about arranging transport. There was a bit of miscommunication on when the vehicle was going to be picked up because it was picked up from a location where we did not live. So there's a little issue with getting that scheduled, but once that was taken care of there were no issues. They were very apologetic about the miscommunication. They were very friendly and provided good customer service.

    I live in Missouri and the vehicle was located in Washington state. I liked what Stateway had to say, so I chose them to do the transport. They did everything that needed to be done without complaint. They were excellent. We live in a residential rural area and there are no street lights. The driver had a task on his hands getting the semi in here to unload it and he did a great job. He didn't complain. He just said, "Let's do it." My son and I helped him. We stopped traffic on the road so he could get his rig back into where it needed to be and everything went fine. I was pleased with their service and attitude.

    Went on standby and after 2 weeks of communication I finally got someone on the phone to find out the agent was no longer with the company, and no one sought to ensure I was taken care of.     I've used Stateway Trans 5 times now and have walked away a satisfied customer each time. Of course I've hit a few hick-ups here and there but never because Stateway Trans dropped the ball. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and responsive, always on stand by to help if needed. I've worked with several representatives over the years but Jessica has always been my favorite. She has a great sense of humor, always stays on top of my shipping dates and like clock work the moment my car is dispatched she calls within seconds of me receiving the shipping details to confirm the work.

    I ship twice a year for work from Nashville to Toronto and then back. The amount of organization required for such a move is demanding because the car needs to be either picked up or delivered to the border at a time it's convenient for me to meet and pay the driver. I haven't had to wait or reschedule my pick ups or deliveries yet. Stateway Trans always has everything perfectly aligned to fit my extremely hectic schedule.     I work for a relocation company and set up dozens of corporate moves a week.     Originally, I had booked an auto transport service with Stateway Auto Transport in the fall of 2015 to ship my car from Buffalo to Seattle. A couple of weeks later, I sent an email to them requesting to cancel the order as I had decided to go with another transport service. There was no answer. I then called them to cancel the service, and was told by the customer service agent over the phone that my order was cancelled. (However, there was no email confirmation that I cancelled, just verbal.)

    A few weeks later, when my car was already in transport, coordinated by the other company, Stateway contacted me to try and tell me that the other transport service or the carrier had dropped my shipment due to lack of insurance, and that they are taking over. I then contacted my transport service (Ship A Car Direct, and btw, they are great), and was told that Stateway was trying to fool me, and the shipment was going as planned and was not dropped. The car arrived in Seattle (coordinated by Ship A Car Direct and VNS Auto Transport) safely. I paid the carrier directly.

    Everything was fine, until a few weeks later, Stateway contacted me again, saying that I owe them the deposit and the shipping fee, for which they had already paid the carrier for. All lies. Stateway really tries to scam you or get money out of you, even if you haven't used their service. Be careful with them... Definitely do not recommend going with them, as they make communicating with them tough (hard to get someone on the phone or get detailed email replies), especially if it doesn't help them gain business.

    We hired Stateway on November 6 to move our vehicle from our home just outside of DC to Bend, Oregon. We were told it would be 1-7 days for the pick up. On day 7, Paul told me they had not exceeded the days since they counted business days, though that was never stated. Each time I spoke with Paul to discuss a pick-up date, he would follow up with an email saying our vehicle would be picked up in 2-4, 3-7, 1-5 or other arbitrary and meaningless number of days. On the November 19th he told me my town was not "driver-friendly" and that's why they were having trouble finding a carrier. My city is just off the I-95 corridor, which is the main north-south thoroughfare. I am just outside DC and not far from Baltimore, a major port city. He began his follow-up email by telling me not to be cynical.

    We next spoke by phone. He asked how I was doing and when I said not so hot since my car was not on a truck halfway across the country, he said, "If that's the worst of your problems you're doing okay!" Mind you, I had just told him I'd need to move the pick-up spot 3 miles away because a family member had been hospitalized. We were getting nowhere regarding movement of the vehicle and when I asked to speak to a manager, he said he didn't have one. There was no one who could handle a customer service complaint.

    He later called excitedly, saying he'd gotten a driver. It would cost me $300 more and he would only go to Portland, which is 3 hours from Bend. I declined. If he could only get to Portland for $300 more than that's what his quote should have reflected. We returned to the daily calls and emails and promises of tomorrow and tomorrow. Finally, we had a definite pick-up date of 11/27 and we had the driver's name and cell phone number. When I called the driver to confirm, he seemed surprised we had been told 11/27. He said it would be the 29th.

    When the vehicle was finally loaded on the carrier, it was as if we'd been released from a strange imprisonment. Stateway knows how to string you along; you become desperate to move your vehicle and you think starting over with another company will mean an even longer wait. The driver delivered the car without a problem within the promised number of days. THE COMPANY IS SLIMY AND UNDERHANDED. STAY AWAY! Also note that the only positive reviews here have the same syntax - grammatical errors of the same sort and odd language so that they appear to me to be written by one person.

    CUSTOMERS BEWARE... DO NOT HIRE Stateway Auto Transport and/or "Do It" Auto Transport to transport your vehicle! Stateway Auto Transport & "Do It" Auto Transport are the most UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISHONEST companies I've ever conducted business with. As a 10-year veteran in the United States Air Force, when I chose to conduct business with Stateway Auto Transport and "Do It" Auto Transport to transport my vehicle, it was by far my WORST business decision and an overall disaster. When I initiated the vehicle transportation request with Stateway Auto Transport (spoke with "Paul"), the first red flag was when I received the wrong confirmation email containing somebody else's name, confirmation number, vehicle information and transaction fees (prime example of no attention to detail).

    Stateway Auto Transport is a broker company who sub-contracted my vehicle shipment to "Do It" Auto Transport which is why Stateway is mentioned in this review. Stateway Auto Transport needs to be held equally accountable for providing extremely poor customer service by sub-contracting vehicle transport requests to "Do It" Auto Transport.

    During the transportation process, I encountered the following issues with "Do It" Auto Transport... My debit card was charged days BEFORE the car was delivered (The original email confirmation from Stateway stated the following "COD Amount: Must be paid to the carrier on DELIVERY in Certified Funds.") Delivery dates and times were CONSTANTLY CHANGED with the following excuses to the effect of "The driver is very tired," "My driver is stuck in traffic." (I was contacted by "Edgar" on 27 November stating my vehicle is "guaranteed" to be delivered on 28 November between 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, only to re-scheduled for 29 November "either by 12:00 am midnight or between 8:00 am - 11:00 am.") (Note: My vehicle wasn't delivered until 29 November around 2:30 pm! My original delivery date was 24 November.)

    Vehicle was severely damaged upon delivery (front bumper was scratched badly due to lack of handling and care) AND had an extra 50 miles on it! My vehicle had 13,901 miles on it PRIOR to pick-up, and contained 13,951 miles upon delivery. (If a vehicle is being TRANSPORTED, why were there additional miles on it???)

    Several unreturned phone calls ("Paul" [Stateway]) & "Edgar" ["Do It"]) were terrible with returning phone calls. Unanswered questions ("Do It" Auto Transport completely failed to provide pertinent information updates on the location of my vehicle and delivery date/time throughout the transportation process.) "Do It" Auto Transport failed to provide their customer (me) with a peace of mind and sense of security that my vehicle was safely being transported throughout the process.

    Due to the suspicious lack of communication (vehicle location updates), I felt as if I was experiencing a robbery/heist and informed "Edgar" I would call the police and report my vehicle stolen! Overall, my decision to conduct business with Stateway Auto Transport and "Do It" Auto Transport for the first time resulted in a significant amount of additional stress in conjunction with my PCS move, no peace of mind, lost of appetite and sleep, headaches and a MAJOR INCONVENIENCE!

    It's truly sad and unacceptable for a company to treat their customers like this, especially an ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY MEMBER! Regardless of whether a person is military or civilian, I strongly advise NOT TO HIRE Stateway Auto Transport and/or "Do It" Auto Transport to transport your vehicle. Safe yourself from the lost time, inconvenience and unnecessary stress... I'll NEVER choose Stateway and/or "Do It" Auto Transport to handle/transport my vehicle again.

    My order number is **. The following is how I got "JACKED" around by Stateway Auto Transport. It all started 30 days before I was planning to go to FL. I know that you are about to do the same. PLEASE, BE WARNED. STATEWAY AUTO TRANSPORT WILL "JACK" YOU AROUND IN ALL WAYS. Customer Service Agent Bill tells me that my car will be picked up either Friday October 30, 2015, or Saturday October 31, 2015 or Sunday November 1, 2015. Stateway Auto Transport "jacked" me. No one shows up or calls ahead for pickup of vehicle.

    I received an email from Karla, she works in the Dispatch Office. Stating that my car will be picked up on Monday November 9, 2015, with assigned company as Auto Express as carrier. With a 2-4 HOUR WINDOW, sweet I think. I contact a good friend and ask her if she would do me a favor, by waiting for the 2-4 hour window for the driver to call and schedule time on Monday November 9, 2015 to pick up my vehicle.

    I received a text message from Naviy from Auto Express Carrier. The following is a direct quote from Naviy, "Hello, is Naviy from Auto Express Carrier, is the company supposed pick up the 1996 Buick Regal. My driver picks up your car tomorrow. The driver calls you 1 hour before pick up." I was a little blown away, and asked the name of the company, phone number, and person he spoke to. Naviy says company is "STATEWAY AUTO TRANSPORT". Here's Naviy's response "The company sent to me the order for pick up tomorrow morning (November 10, 2015). Stateway will "jack you" and "jack you" and forget about your deposit of $145, that is gone. SO, IN CLOSING STATEWAY AUTO TRANSPORT SUCKS!!!

    NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH STATEWAY AUTO FROM Wheeling, IL! I cannot believe they have 5 star rating with all the bad reviews and from my own experience with them! (Funny how I see a 5 star rating to ship a vehicle from San Francisco to California on here-SF is in California!). On 08-24-2015 we ordered with Stateway Auto a Transport of my Classic Vehicle for $1245.00 and delivery within 10 days. When the 10 days were up I started calling (actually before to get a date). This is when the excuses started flying. I was first told that a driver didn't want to pay a bridge toll. I am North of the Golden Gate Bridge. I told them that Northbound traffic was Free, only Southbound pays the toll. It's only $7 anyhow.

    Then the next excuse was that the drivers do not want to drive over bridges. What? Semis drive over the Golden Gate Bridge every day. I also informed her that there are other ways to get here that are much more preferred by drivers than going through San Francisco (Hwy 80-actually saves time). She told me they had to go the most direct route, and won't drive over a bridge. She then told me that if I met the driver South of the bridge I could get my vehicle delivered sooner. I said there is no safe place to do that, and besides, I was quoted delivery to my residence/business. Next I was told that my vehicle could get picked up sooner if I would go with Open transport. I said no way. It's a Classic Vehicle and I was quoted for Enclosed. I was offered $100.00 off and I still refused.

    Next we were being told the vehicle would be picked up on 09-08-2015. They charged my credit card on 09-05-2015 for $145.00 for the deposit without informing me. That was $100.00 less than they said it would be. A driver finally did show up on that date, but it was Open transport. When I spoke to Emily **, she said that they would also take off $100 more from what I was to pay the driver for a total of $200 off the original quoted price. I said no way, I wanted Enclosed and didn't care that they had $100,000.00 insurance. The savings they were offering would not even pay for the vehicle to be detailed and cleaned, let alone pay for any rock chips or other damage.

    I asked when an Enclosed transport would show up, she did not know. I called elsewhere, and got my vehicle picked up in less than 24 hours. So, I called her back on 09-08-2015 (same day) and requested to cancel and a refund of my deposit. She didn't answer her phone, I had to leave a voicemail. As soon as I hung up the phone, I e-mailed her and stated the same thing and that I wanted a refund. They next day someone else called me back and was somewhat begging that I did not cancel and couldn't believe that someone else had already picked up the vehicle. I asked for a refund. She told me that it would take 1-2 weeks to show up in my bank.

    It has now been nearly 4 weeks, and NO refund has showed up. On 10-03-2015 I sent another e-mail to Miss Emily, and told her that if I didn't hear from her by Monday (10-05-2015), that I would contact BBB and the Illinois Attorney General and be filing complaints. All I want is my money. No response from her. I even waited until today, 10-06-2015 and called them again and was sent to someone else's voicemail and I left a message stating that I wanted contact immediately from them and my money. No response, yet again. I am out my $145.00. I want my money! I have already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and also with the Illinois Attorney General. BUYER BEWARE.

    26 days. 26 days is how long it took Stateway to move my vehicle from San Diego to Minneapolis. I chose Stateway because of their high ratings on various sites. I'm not sure if they write positive reviews themselves or pay people to write them, but my experience with them was so terrible that I cant imagine how they could have a rating higher than 1. IMPORTANT: As it turns out, the carriers get the last word on negative reviews on TransportReviews.com, so don't trust any carriers rating on their site. Google NY Times - Transport Reviews for an article that explains this further.

    Quick points: After you book your pick up, don't ever expect them to return a call or an email. They've got your money, and now they don't care about you. They will book you at a low price, THEN ask for more money to get a drivers attention. After my vehicle sat idle for more than 12 days, they started repeatedly asked me for $100-200 more. Until your vehicle is actually picked up, they will lie however they can to prevent you from canceling, i.e. your vehicle is at the top of the list, a carrier is in the area, were just confirming insurance, sometimes the truckers have trouble going through the mountains, etc.

    Now, my story: I live in Minneapolis and bought a vehicle in San Diego. Shortly after I bought it, I sold my only other car. Because Stateway told me that my vehicle would be picked up 1-4 days (not business days) after the ready date, I didn't panic. Little did I know that I would be in for a continuous web of lies and deceit that would ultimately result in my having to get rides and/or rent a vehicle until my vehicle finally arrived. Because I had sold my other car, I called on Ready Date+3 Days to check on the pickup status. It was then that I was told that whoever told me it would be picked up 1-4 days after the ready date was mistaken and that I should have been told it would be picked up 1-7 days after the ready date. Red Flag #1.

    I was told not to worry because my vehicle was at the top of the list and that a carrier would pick it up soon. A carrier? When I booked, I was told that STATEWAY was the carrier. Nope, as it turns out, they are a broker just like all the other brokers. They told me that they do have some of their own trucks (which, for all I know, may be a lie), but that the majority of their business is done through brokering.

    Every business day, I called for an update. Most days, I either spoke with a Susie or Bill. While very friendly on the phone, Susie has no idea what shes doing and will lie directly to you to put you at ease. She supposedly wrote many emails to dispatch, each email more useless than the last. Eventually, I asked to speak to a manager and was connected to a Rachel. On Ready Date + 9 Days, Rachel told me that it would be picked up in the next two days. I called the next day. No pickup that day. Rachel then assured me that it would be picked up the following day (Ready Date + 11 days). By the end of that business day, I had received no calls or emails, so I again called to check in. I called and asked for Rachel. Rachel? I don't think there's a Rachel who works here.

    At that point, I was furious. I again asked to speak to a manager. After being put on hold for 15+ minutes, they hung up on me. I called right back and the call was disconnected while they tried to transfer me to a Tim. Called back again and asked for Tim. Hes not here, what message would you like me to email him? I told the rep that I wanted to talk directly to Tim and that I had NEVER received a call back or email the entire time that I had been working with them. Suddenly Tim was available.

    Tim answered the phone and was very amicable, calm, and willing to help. He was the only positive part of my experience with Stateway. Unfortunately, it was far too little, far too late. Tim reassured me that they were doing everything they could do to get the vehicle picked up. He then asked if I would be willing to add another $100-200 to get a drivers attention. This was the 6th or 7th time one of them had asked me to pay more for my delivery. I told Tim that it was it ridiculous for them to ask me for more money, and that they should instead offer me a discount. After a brief hold, he said that they would take $100 off their $145 fee to add to the $800 the driver would get, in the hopes that it would get picked up sooner.

    Fast forward through couple more days of inactivity: Again I called and spoke to Tim. Again, he asked me to pay more money, making the point that they need to at least make something. I explained that given my horrible experience thus far, no, they do not need to make any money on the deal. Sometimes in business you make 30% margin, sometimes you need to take a loss. This was one of those times. I asked him to speak with whomever he needed to make this happen. After a hold, he came back on the line and told me that they would use the rest of their deposit plus add $50 to get the vehicle picked up faster.

    At long last, I received an email saying my vehicle had been dispatched and giving me a date for pickup. The email also said it would take 7 days to arrive, which was disappointing because since I had placed the order, I had always been told it would take 2-4 days from pickup. The pickup date (a Tuesday) came and went. After all this, they still couldn't pick it up when they promised. Fortunately, the pickup was only delayed one more day. Of course, another wrinkle: The driver who arrived to pick up the X3 didn't have a Bill of Lading, so the dealership couldn't release the vehicle to him. More phone calls and more time needed on my part to address the problem. Once the vehicle was picked up, I assumed everything was fine. I called a couple days later (Friday) to check the status/location of the vehicle. After having it in their possession for two full days, it had only traveled 120 miles (from San Diego to Los Angeles).

    The day before the scheduled drop off date, I thought I should call the actual carrier and make sure that I only needed to give them $800 on delivery. Nope. They said $995. Okay, so I checked my bank account. As it turns out, Stateway hadn't yet charged me the $145 deposit. So that still leaves me $50 short (the same $50 that Stateway promised that they would provide to the carrier). After texting Tim, he explained that all of their deposits are $195. I wasn't sure if he didn't know that my deposit was $145 or if that was an outright lie, so I sent him a screen shot of my confirmation email that showed my deposit being $145. A short time later, he texted me back and said they'd send me a check for the $50.

    Promised drop off date #1: After five calls to Stateway's contracted carrier (Interstate Roadrunner) I finally found out that the driver had run over his hours and that the vehicle wouldn't be delivered until the following day. They seemed very sheepish to tell me this, and like I said, it took five calls to get that information. Promised drop off date #2: When the vehicle finally arrived, the drop off went fine and there were no surprises. Finally, something in the awful experience actually went as it should have.

    I sold my car during all of this, and the person who bought it had chosen to go through Stateway for shipping (He chose them on my recommendation before I had gone through this awful experience). After seeing what I was going through, he canceled with Stateway and went with another carrier. Ten hours AFTER my car was picked up by the other carrier, Stateway's contracted carrier called me to coordinate the pickup. Apparently, Stateway didn't listen to the buyers multiple voice mails or emails telling them he was cancelling. Their so-called Vehicle Tracking Service is nothing but an archaic, simple online chat system which wouldn't be so bad if it actually worked. I tried multiple times and no one ever responded.

    TIP - If you DO make the mistake of booking with Stateway and you need to contact them, do not select the customer service option when you call. You will likely be automatically put on hold for 3-4 minutes then transferred to voicemail. I'd suggest selecting the I've already got a quote and would like to schedule pickup option. EVERY time I selected that option, someone answered immediately (of course). Main thing to take away from this review: If you are considering using Stateway, please reconsider. Save yourself countless phone calls, emails, and hours of wasted time. Run the other direction and never look back.

    I was told that my car would be picked up in front of my home. Therefore, I arranged to have it picked up while I was on vacation, with my mother the key point of contact to deliver the car to the carrier. My mother is elderly and does not live in my state. She came in to watch my dog while I was on vacation. On the day of the pick-up, the driver told her that she'd have to drive the car to another state for pickup. My mother doesn't drive much, and certainly not much at all in my state. Her driving my vehicle to another state for pickup, which was not what I was told would happen, was completely out of the question for her. She had to contact a friend of mine to take my car to meet the driver. My friend had to take a half day off work to drive my car to the pickup location. Then the driver was over two hours late, and my friend had to take a cab back to her home.

    I tried to contact Stateway several times with no response for clarification as to why this happened, and why such a blatant lie was told to me regarding the pickup location. Had I known I needed to drive the car to another state for pickup, I would have either gone with a different service, or would have handled the scheduling differently so that I would have been available to do this. Instead, two other people were inconvenienced by this lack of professionalism by the Stateway team.

    I contracted to use Stateway on July 27, the vehicle was to be picked up in Muskegon, Mi. and taken to Tucson AZ. between August 10th and 14th. I was to provide pick up location when contacted. I was not contacted until I call just prior to me departing to Michigan. I was quoted a price and told they would work on assigning a driver. Once I got to Michigan, I called each day I was there and left repeated messages with customer service. When I finally contacted a rep I was told that the location was out of the way and could I get the car to Grand Rapids or Kalamazoo. A driver was still not assigned, and on Friday the 14th I call to cancel.

    I was asked to give them until 5 p.m. At about 4:45 I received advising a driver was assigned and given his number to arrange pick up location. I call and was told he was only taking my car to Grand Rapids. I asked how am I to get the car to Arizona, he said I have to contract with someone else. So much for one driver assigned to transport the car. I call Stateway back and was told that I would be charged because a driver was assigned even though I cancelled the driver as Grand Rapids is not the destination contracted for.

    At a headline level, if you expect a company to do what they say and pick up the phone when there is an issue, this is not the company for you. No one answers the phone, no one calls you back, etc. Anyone affiliated with this company should be personally embarrassed. How they're in business is beyond me. (Ps -- they have two and a half stars for service online. There are many other companies with four or more. Please choose one of them over these con artists.)

    Here are the details of the kind of nightmare you can expect: Confirmed on 5.12 with ** the original quote for two cars picked up on 6.08, drop off on 6.15 for $3000. We changed the quote a few days later to only the Jeep, for $1500. Same pickup/drop off dates. I had to email ** 3 times to ask for the confirmed updated quote with only the one car just to ensure no confusion. I finally received confirmation sent to me on 6.03. I received a call from Dispatch (**) on 6.06 to ask a few clarifying questions because there was confusion about how many cars were being picked up. I confirmed only the jeep and she said she would call me back with a time once confirmed, which I did not get a callback.

    I called at 8:30 am local time on 6.08 (which is the pickup date) to confirm when the driver would arrive. I spoke to ** originally who told me the driver had backed out of the shipment and he was trying to find someone else. He said he couldn't guarantee that it would be picked up that day. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor. He sent me to **. ** explained that the driver backed out due to confusion thinking he was expected to pick up two cars for the price of one. She said she would figure it out and call me back. I called every two hours since then to get updates because they never called when they said they would.

    Yesterday (6.08), ** told me that part of the reason they were struggling to get a driver is because the price was too low for a drop off in Charlotte (not much business out there). I told her that they need to increase the cost for the driver on their own expense to get someone to pick up asap. They did not confirm they did that until late yesterday, which was an increase of $300. I was left in the lurch last night and they left before updating me. Same scenario today (6.09) - calling every two hours, with no success in reaching anyone.

    I finally called the main sales line and talked to ** and he said he would have Dispatch call me back. I refused to let him hang up and he put me on hold to then talk to **. ** came back on the line and he said that they are now removing the $500 deposit to give all the money to the driver to increase the chance they can get someone asap. Received a text message on 6/10 saying the trucking company would be there in an hour. No one showed up. Called in on 6/10 and spoke to ** who said he would call back in 30 mins. He never called. Called again on 6/10 and was sent to voicemail. Left message. Called again after no response and spoke to **. She refused to let us speak to a supervisor and then hung up on us. We finally called to cancel. It was only at that time that they were genuinely concerned.

    I contacted this transport and they gave me an estimate cost, pick up and delivery. I never hear anything from them and I have called numerous times and finally they called and said they might have to increase the price and when they were ask how much they said $100.00 and they were told Ok and since then we have heard nothing from them. I was told by another carrier that this is common practice that they bid and then say that they don't have anyone to pick it up so they apparently have a bulletin board which other carriers can see and they can bid on it and then they call the customer and say this is what the cost is. Doesn't seem fair that they are allowed to bid and then don't even have the courtesy to call and let the customer know.

    This has happened with two different auto transport companies that I have dealt with. One of the callers called me and told me "you are stupid and I hope you have to pay 2,000,00 to have the car transported and besides that, that car is the ugliest car I have ever seen." It was my understanding if they agreed to transport the car it shouldn't matter what kind of a car it is.

    I needed a car delivered from KY To PA. Stateway Auto Transport responded with a $495.00 quote (nowhere on the email DID the quote said I had to accept this quote right now or it may change). I sent Stateway email saying I had to wait for the seller to receive my check and I would be in touch when this happen. When the check cleared I immediately called Stateway and they now said, right after the $495.00 quote, the prices had drastically gone up by $200.00. What a joke.     PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS! Stateway Auto Transport. 401 S Milwaukee Ave Ste 150. Wheeling IL 60090-5071. They lied and lied and fraudulently charged my credit card. On March 2, 2015, I placed an order with stateway to ship a Nissan Murano car from New Jersey to WA state. **, the sale person sent me a message that states: "Standard pick up window is 1-7 business days from ready date of 03/05/2015." After waiting for my automobile to be assigned to a transporter for more than 2 weeks, contrary to 7 days promised by Stateway, I requested cancellation and sought for another shipper. ** Account Manager promised to find a carrier, he never did.

    On March 16, 2015, **, customer service acknowledged my request to cancel auto shipping service with Stateway Auto. On March 18, 2015, she sent another email assuring me of the cancellation. "I have emailed our cancellation dept. to get this taken care of for you." On April 22, stateway Dispatch sent me an emailed that they were ready to ship. I replied and copied both ** and ** stating that the transaction had been cancelled. On April 22, Dispatch replied back with: "OK we will cancel dispatch. Thank you."

    On April 24, my bank card alerted me that Stateway auto had charged my credit card in the amount of $195. BIG ** FRAUD!     A terrible experience with this company! I just used their service transported my vehicle from Houston to Chicago. It delivered my vehicle in one week which is OK. What I'm unsatisfied is their charging. I asked a quote online on 3-5-2015 and they gave a quote said I need to pay $195 and the receiver need to pay $400. Later they charged me $290. When they delivered my vehicle, they charged the receiver $450. I called them several times and send many emails. About 2 weeks later, they refunded me the $145. Until now, I thought it was just a mistake, they charged me too much and then refunded the additional money to me. However, one week after they refunded me, they again charged me $145. I called them and emailed them, there was no response even I tried several times. Then I submitted a dispute payment request to my bank. One day later, they'd contact me and said it was mistake and they would send me a check as a refund.

    Ten days later, I received their check ($145) and deposited on my bank. This time I thought it was over, they overcharged me and they gave a refund. I was totallly wrong! My bank said it was a non-sufficient fund check and was invalid!!! I was charged $35 by my bank because of their invalid check! Until now, they still owe me $145. The worst experience I've ever had which such a terrible company!

    We had our 2014 Lexus transported from New Jersey to Florida in December 2014. We contracted with Stateway and they in turn gave the job to another company, Truck Em, also known as Turtle Express. The car was damaged in shipment. The car was inspected before being loaded on the transport by their driver and there was no damage, and, was so indicated on their form. When the car arrived, it had bad scratches on the rear hatch. I notified both Stateway and Truck Em. As they requested, we sent them photos. The bottom line, neither company would do anything. Neither would give us the name of the insurance company for us to file a claim either. Then, Truck Em tried to say that they are simply not responsible for any damage that happens while the car is in the possession, even if it is due to their neglect. I suggest that you stay away from Stateway and Truck Em.

The transporter showed up when he was supposed to - one of the few times in my experience of transporting cars.     My daughter Erin is a transfer student to Northern Arizona University. She went out in August of last year and we didn’t ship her car until after the first semester to make sure she was doing okay out there. She was home for Christmas break in Massachusetts and went back to school in January and then we decided we’re gonna ship her car out there to Arizona. I researched numerous transport companies and found out that it's a very unregulated industry and there's a lot of scammers out there. I read a lot of the reviews from a lot of different companies that do this and a lot of them had positives and then also negatives. I learned not to go with the cheapest one because they're brokers and they broker it out and they may not be a carrier that will want to do it for the low price and you'll have to end up waiting a longer period of time.

    But I chose Stateway and told them the earliest they could have the car was January 7th which was the day Erin went back to school. I got a call in the afternoon stating that they have assigned a truck and that in two hours they would be able to pick up the car. They said, however, they weren't able to drive down my residential street with this tractor trailer that carries nine cars and wanted to know if I could meet them at the Home Depot parking lot in two hours. I said, "Oh, gee, that'd be fine", and they said they would drive me back home so I didn't have to have anybody go with me. I got there in two hours but they were late. I did have the cellphone of the driver and I ended up having to wait the better part of an hour, which was an inconvenience.

    However, it was still worth it. They picked the car up on the earliest date I told them it was available. I let my daughter know and she was thrilled that her car was on it's way. They said it would get there in a few days. Stateway broker it out to another carrier. It was $1195; I had to pay $195 on a credit card right away and the $1000 balance had to be paid in cash or cashier's check. However, I didn't know the name to who to make it out to and I wasn't gonna let my daughter have $1000 cash going back to Arizona.

    As it turned out, the car arrived about 10am on a Sunday. It was supposed to arrive on Saturday by noontime, and my daughter said the check never arrived. The car was ready to be picked up at 10am but the office that had the check opened at 12noon. It was my fault so I called them. They did take payment through credit card but said it cost 3% more, so they charged $1030 to my credit card and I was very happy with that because it was not their fault. My daughter ended up getting her car. She got her guitar and a lot of stuff in the trunk. It arrived safely and everything was there. There was no damage to the car. So overall, I was very satisfied with the experience, and the prices, I researched, was actually one of the lowest. I was a little wary about going with the lower carriers but it worked out fine. I would use them again, which I might do if she comes back after school.

    Cancelled my order on 2/16/15 after 3 weeks of waiting for them to respond. They never called or showed up. Just wasted 3 weeks of my shipping time in which I had to rent a car to get around that cost me $800. I paid on 1/26/15. Today is 2/14/15 - three weeks later. My car has not even been "scheduled" to be picked up, leave alone being shipped. They promise you a schedule in 7 working days and then just make excuses after excuses when you call.     After reading the reviews from Consumer Affairs, I decided to transport my new car from Dallas to Florida. I spoke to the agent (Bill) on Feb 4 and got my quote for moving my car. I got a mail from the agent that my car would be picked up from my place on 02/06 and would be delivered to me in tally by 02/08. I got a mail again on 7th mentioning that the truck got cancelled. Again I recd a mail on 9th...said they would pick up the car on 9th and I would get it by 11. They picked up my car at 2 pm from Dallas on 02/09 and today being 19th, I have still not received my car.

    I tried calling Stateway many times...nobody comes on the lines nor guides properly. Finally I got to speak to one agent (Toni) who said she would ask someone from customer care contact me but never called back to check. It's been 7 days now after I spoke to her. I got to speak to another agent (Jessica) who transferred my call to the Manager who said I would get the car by Thursday and promised me a discount on my price. Who cares for a discount when I am bothered about my car?

    One more thing I wanted to mention -- They said they have truck tracking facility, but it's wrong. I was not able to track my car. Meanwhile I have contacted the driver of the truck. He said his truck broke down in Louisiana and it's been a week getting repaired. I am worried about my car now, as it's been many days. Still no calls or mails from Stateway Auto. It is Thursday 02/19 and still now I have not received my car nor a call from Stateway.

    I was very pleased with Stateway Auto Transport. I had bought a new car, so I offered my old vehicle, my Honda, to my grandson. But his mother did not want to accept it unless she had a full work history on it. And I thought, "Too bad for you. When I get around to it, you'll get it." Then he had an accident so he needed the car.

    I needed to ship the car in a short space of time. As soon as I put it into the computer, the phone started ringing left and right. The computer had lists and lists of people, and a lot of them said, "There's a truck in your neighborhood now." I just wasn't sure that I would be taking somebody who was gonna tell me "yes" and then not have it. At any rate, Stateway looked more reliable. Stateway said they were a transport company themselves, not just a middleman, not a broker and it did say that you would possibly have to have somebody else take it. They certainly weren't the cheapest...they were actually the most expensive.

    But when I had talked with people that had shipped, they had nightmare stories. I had people tell me that the car was never picked up when they said they'd be picked up. They had gotten to their destination, but the car never made it to their destination until after they had gotten there for a while. I had to sit on my hands when I kept getting all those messages from other people. My heart said, "Go with this one. You sometimes pay a little bit more." My theory was if you're gonna pay more, and the company was gonna get more, there'd be somebody reliable who was gonna do it, rather than somebody who was just picking up the tail-end of whatever was left.

    My transport organizer was fine but I did not receive anything on Stateway's end telling me that they had transport. And then I woke up on Tuesday morning and he gave his name. I had no idea who he was and then he had to introduce himself as the driver who was representing Stateway. And he was ready to pick it up, so I went, "Oh, okay."

    Unfortunately, he was in the wrong place. He couldn't find out where I had mentioned because I gave him the wrong address. I thought it was one road and they used the other road as the address. By the time he got down, I had the car ready for him to pick up. I dropped it off at the Lowes and he dropped me back off home and took it away, and told me he'd probably have it there by Thursday. Said he had two more vehicles to pick up. And voila...Thursday afternoon, I think a little after one, it had come in. So I was very pleased that it was timely. He seemed very nice. I was pleased that it was not a huge transport car thing that I was afraid I was gonna see. Three vehicles was certainly a good size to have the car going.

    I'd recommend Stateway to a friend. The only thing is, I'm recommending them but it wasn't Stateway who actually did the transport -- they just set the transport up. Nevertheless it worked out and I'm very pleased with the results. The vehicle's up there now. It went from the heat to the cold, and I'm hoping it just doesn't fall apart 'cause it's a 2002 and it has 200,000 miles on it. It's too cold up in Minneapolis. But it was an easy process and I felt that it was reliable. I was very comfortable with the person that was the one that did the actual shipping. Whatever I paid for it was worth it.

    I hired stateway Auto to ship my vehicle from Maine to Washington State. I know my route is crazy that is why I need to hire an auto mover. I choose this company because it has a good reviews but I was wrong, and I am definitely going to get screwed. I made a deal with them 30 days before my scheduled pickup date. They agreed and assured to ship my car on time. I am already past my 7 days window, as of today I only have 3 days before my scheduled pickup date and I haven't got any confirmation from them.

    I called several times this week and they told me that my vehicle is still available and haven't found a driver to pick and ship my vehicle. And they are doing their best to assign it to a driver. If I didn't call I got no update from them. I sent emails to the person in charge of my vehicle and I only got 1 reply and that's it, no more updates so far. 5 days before my scheduled pick up date, I spoked to the Manager (Andi) and told me they are doing their best to find a driver. He will give me a call the next day for an update. I waited all day and he never call. I called the office again and they told me they will address my concern to the manager.

    Are you kidding me? They have 30 days to work on finding and assigning a driver but I guess they are incompetent to do their job, poor communication with their customers. I hope they notify me ahead of time if they won't be able to ship my vehicle so I have also enough time to get a reliable movers to ship my car. I am VERY frustrated because I relied and trusted this company 100% but all I got was reassure and nothing is happening. If they will not pick up my vehicle next week, and if I am not able to find another mover to ship my car on time then I have no choice but to drive my car myself with a 2 year old child across the country. This is what happen if you hire a unreliable mover and Stateway Auto Transport is **.

    I had bought a car that was in Colorado, and I live in Tennessee. I read some reviews online that were fairly good so Stateway Auto stood out. The price was also relatively cheap. The car transport was very well orchestrated. They talked me through the whole process and gave me the driver's number.     Stateway seems to have the best review online, so I called them and they told me how much it would cost to ship my vehicle from Texas to my home in Vermont. I’ve never shipped a car before so the transport organizer provided me a lot of details and answered all of my little questions on how it works, and that was very helpful.     I bought a truck from Pennsylvania and had it shipped to North Carolina. I went on the internet and researched five companies, and got quotes from all of them. Stateway was the first one to get back to me, and their quote was in the ballpark. They promised me they could get it and bring it here in a timely fashion, and they did. The transport organizer sent the emails. Once I confirmed the pickup, I got an email from the person who was going to be actually setting it all up. The minute that they dispatched it, I got an email from somebody else. They had it dispatched and somebody was on the way to get it and they sent me the name and the cell phone of the trucker that was the third party guy physically picking up the truck.

    The only problem was when that guy got there on a Saturday morning, he did not have a physical address of the vehicle and what dealership it was at. This place they were getting it from had multiple dealerships and he did not know exactly where to go or who to contact. I happened to text the guy and say "Hey you're getting my vehicle for me, just give me some heads-up." He immediately called me and said "Man, I'm like 50 miles away but I don't know where to go and I cant get anybody at Stateway to answer the phone until noon." He said they said nobody would be there till noon so he sat around for about two or three hours.

    So I immediately got him in contact with the people that I had bought it from and they sorted it all out. Other than that, Stateway did a great job. They kept me in the loop the whole time. I would use them again, that's for sure, because I have used other people in the past and it was not good. With Stateway, I've had great experience, great communication, good service and good price.

    I will preface this by saying I run a company with customer service and understand what is right and wrong. This is by far the worst establishment I have ever dealt with. They claim to have their own drivers and control your delivery, that is a deceitful lie. They claim to beat the industry standard for 14-day pickups and do it in 1-7, that is not true. They claim to have prompt customer service, again untrue. I paid a deposit and was told the vehicle would be picked up 2 days later. It wasn't picked up as promised (their subcontracted driver did not want to pick it up) and then the communication stopped.

    I have sent emails and called (left voicemails as no one ever answers) on a daily basis for about a week with 1 email response of (paraphrasing) "we got your response and will contact you." No contact; literally NONE. They don't call you back or respond to your emails. This can't even be legal. They charged my credit card $195 even though they claim to take only $1. All for nothing, they haven't picked it up and don't even respond on the status after DAYS of voicemails to numerous extensions and emails.

    Stateway was great. I bought a vehicle from Florida and I had them ship it here to Pennsylvania. I did a little research before I picked Stateway and they actually had pretty much the best service and the best plan. And their free quote was right on the money. I spoke with the transport organizer once, just to find out some basic information and they answered everything that I asked. Then I had to talk with the actual transport company once, and he was great. He helped me out a lot too.

    The actual hauling company called me every day and let me know exactly where they are. The carrier driver called me the night before, said he would be there the following morning at 10:00, and then he called me first thing in the morning the next morning and said he was on schedule, and he made it right on time.     I bought a passenger van in Pennsylvania and I needed it moved to Cape Cod. Stateway's years in business, their Better Business ratings, and their customer ratings were the reasons I chose them. Their rate was not the cheapest, but it was fair. I talked to one or two folks at Stateway who were very good. They did what they said they were going to do. The cost was exactly what they said they were going to be.

    The only, not misleading, thing was they advertised that they have their own trucks and their own drivers, which they do, but it turns out that most of those trucks and drivers they use to move new cars around for dealerships. Oddball stuff like me, they sub it out to independent guys. But the independent guy that moved my truck was great. He was very polite and professional. The entire process took a week and a half. I use trucking companies quite a bit and I would definitely call these guys again.

    This was my first time shipping my car, and with was a 'coast to coast' move with very tight deadlines and limitations. Stateway Auto was incredible, and so were their sub-contractors. Stateway always returned me phone calls and emails in a promptly manner (yes, it almost always went to voicemail when I would call, but after leaving a message, someone would always call back in a short period of time). The same can also be said for the different sub-contractors (we had two: one for pick up and one for delivery). Shipping your car is a nervous experience, and that will always be the case. They coordinated with my mom because the car was at her house. She had a problem with the transport center when she changed the address of pick-up and they didn't relay it to the carrier driver.     I have dealt with several car-shipping companies and this by far is the worst. No one ever answers the phone or responds to emails. I was quoted a price and was emailed a contract and receipt. Upon delivery of my vehicle the driver raised the price $100. I tried contacting the company in order to resolve the issue but no one ever responded to me. I felt like I had no choice but to pay the extra $100 because I have no idea what would have happened to my vehicle if I didn't. I showed the driver what was emailed to me from the company and the price that was quoted but he didn't care. I would not recommend Stateway to my worst enemy!     Safeway Auto Transport is a good company to deal with in transporting your vehicle. I have checked numerous auto transport, read the reviews, but unsure if some of those reviews were even true. My option was to find a carrier who owns their own trucks. I have called one who definitely are owner, but unfortunately, they don't have any available schedule on the dates that we desire. They recommended Safeway Auto Transport and Rachel was the one who assisted us. Sorbon Transport of Colorado was the one who picked up the van from our sister's house in Colorado Spring and to be delivered to our apartment in Los Angeles, California. Estimated date of arrival was 4 days.

    I called the assigned driver, he said he will pickup the van on December 27, and the next day December 28, I received a call from the driver and he's already near our apartment. The driver was very pleasant and nice. Imagine, in just one day we have already the van. This is the kind of company worth of recommendation, straightforward and provides outstanding service.

    3 months ago I contacted Stateway to transport my F350 from Laughlin Nevada to Loxatchee Florida. I was in Oregon at the time and told them I would be in Laughlin on a certain date to get the truck out of storage and have it ready to ship. They gave me a good quote and I went with them thinking when I get to Laughlin Nevada everything would work out. I got to Laughlin a day early and called them to let them know I got the truck out of the garage, started it up and ran it, so it was ready for transport. They took my credit card number and said as soon as they had the driver they would collect the deposit and the driver would contact me. I rented a Penski truck to haul all my household items for the move and only had one week to get everything together. After several calls and emails guess what, no driver ever called. But I was told that if I came up with more money they could get me one.

    By this time I was so disgusted I told them they had so much time left to get the driver and after that I would cancel. And cancel I did, as they never came with any driver, but they did say they did not charge the credit card and were very sorry. In order to get the truck to Florida I finally called my son in California and he drove it to Florida along with us in the Penski and my motor home. After we got to Florida I flew him home, the cost of this was about the same as the cost they gave me in the first place.

    I found out they are just brokers that put your info on a board and wait for truckers to take your load, if no truckers take your load you are out of luck. They work on putting up as many loads on the board as they can and make money off the ones that get picked up, no big loss for them if you do not get picked up. You are the only potential loser in this procedure. I guess this system can work for you if you are willing to keep raising the price on the board for your load, but watch out if you have a schedule to keep. 3 months later I still get emails from other brokers wanting to know if I need a car transported as they give you the line they have carriers in your area, they are brokers so it should read they know of carriers in your area, and good luck getting one if your load is a truck the carriers do not want to load.

    I was purchasing a new vehicle and used Stateway to transport it because they were the first people to really respond. They were hot on the button as soon as I needed it. I had it shipped to my home outside Chicago. Sam and his co-person was great. They were always very responsive to any questions and upfront about what to expect and the cost. They weren't high pressure either. Some of the other transport groups were completely disinterested or rude. In fact one guy contacted me and I said I got a better deal and that I'm going with somebody else. He asked how much and he said I can't do it for that amount.

    The carrier driver was great. He was not your typical truck driver. In fact, when he picked up the vehicle, the salesman at the car dealership said they weren't really sure they should give it to him but did because he had my name. When he came he was in a plaid, short-sleeved shirt, plaid shorts and flip-flops, and probably 25, which is not bad. He was very knowledgeable and very schooled in moving that truck around. He called me a couple times and said where he was, and indicated that he can't come down my street because it's residential. We met at a large parking lot, and watching him move that big thing around in that parking lot was amazing. He was great and I tipped him 20 bucks because he was good. Stateway is fabulous. If I have to move anybody or know of anybody that needs to move, I'm definitely calling them.

We asked how long we had to cancel if plans changed and we were told 72 hours. We called 36 hours later and canceled the transport.     I found a vehicle that was hard to find in my price range. I bought it from someone in Pennsylvania and had sent it over here so that I could get a new engine if needed. I chose Stateway to transport it because of the reasonable quote but they agitated me by not really coordinating very well with the driver. The guy who was supposed to coordinate things between the driver and the destination didn't do a very good job of it. I spoke to the driver as he was getting the vehicle off. That was why I found out that the driver was not really given much of an idea of what he was doing. He was essentially left to try and figure some things out himself. He was supposed to give me some notice when he was nearby with the vehicle so I could pick it up instead of having him wait there and wasn't really made aware of that.     I'm a car dealer so I haul a lot of cars for the car dealership. But I've only hauled one (a 1988 MG) for me individually and it was through Stateway. I bought a car in New Mexico and I needed it hauled to my home state, Washington. I was a little worried about hiring a transporter that I've never dealt with so I read a few reviews on a few companies before I decided to go with Stateway. I'm blessed that I did... Because I've heard all the horror stories. I saw a few people who had some terrible experiences. Some have nightmare trucking company. Their truck breaks down or they move it from truck to truck as they're bringing it up here...     Everything went smooth and easy. It went as they told me it would. I had the vehicle delivered to my work. I couldn't be there for it but the driver kept me on the loop. The guy stayed in touch when he was on the road just to give me his ETA of when he's going to be there. He was a nice guy. He even cracked me up once on the phone which I was kind of a surprise that the truck driver was cracking me up which was funny. I don't remember what he did. But I deal with a lot of truckers and most of those guys don't give you the time of the day.

    My initial experience was not what I expected. The truck carrying my car (not owned by Stateway) broke down 2x en route from CT to AZ. As a result, my car was nearly 1 week late. With that being said, Andy @ Stateway frequently communicated with us related to the new delivery date and ensured we were being taken care of by our driver.

    In the end, the car was delivered and there was no damage to the vehicle. It is my understanding that Stateway is no longer doing business with the carrier that had my vehicle due the reliability issue we experienced.     I purchased a car in Florida and arranged with Stateway Auto to transport it to New Hampshire. Apparently Stateway contracted the delivery to another company and when the car arrived it had cosmetic damage that occurred during transport. The cost to repair turned out to be $1000. My contact at Stateway (Andy) said that they would help me deal with the sub-contracted carrier to recover costs, and Andy did in fact try for a while. The difficulty that I encountered was that my contract with Stateway apparently gave them the right to send the car with another carrier and that if damage occurred, my recourse would be only with the sub-contracted carrier.

    In my case, the carrier hired (Gentle Touch Auto Transport out of Oregon) chose not to honor the claim. I investigated legal action but was advised that trying to recover $'s from across the country from me would be more expensive than it would be worth. So I marked the experience up to a life lesson and paid for the repairs myself. My advice to anyone thinking of shipping a car ..... understand the contract, and be sure that the carrier you hire will be carrying the car on their own trucks - you have no recourse if they sub-contract, and you have no idea what shape your car will show up in.

    I had purchased a collectible truck that was immobile and about four hours from where I live. I had thought about just renting a tow dolly and pulling it myself but because of work I had checked around and contacted Stateway Auto Transport. I had done some reading on them and price wise they all were definitely not the cheapest but a little bit below the medium. I bought several vehicles out of town before and have had them shipped in from out of state and this is by far the easiest transport I've ever dealt with. I signed up on it and then called. The next time I talked to them, they called me the day before and said, "Hey we got a carrier in your area. We're ready to pick up." So I called the guy and they picked it up that morning and that afternoon they got here. As far as the folks I was dealing with on that end of it, they were very easy to deal with.

    The carrier driver was a super nice guy and did everything he could do. He had a slap back trailer that was hollow in the middle a bit. The tires on the truck were flat and when we started trying to unload it, it shifted over and fell in the middle. It took us two hours to unload it but the driver stayed there. He could have easily just pulled off and took a chance on messing the front end on the truck up but he stayed there with us and jacked it up and got it slid back open. It was late and he had another load to drop off in New Orleans and taking the time he took, it was going to stick him way behind his schedule. But he never complained about it. He was there the whole time and helped us with it. That end of it was good. We had trouble with it but it was trouble that we just couldn't help. Sometimes things like that happen. It was a good move and a great experience overall with Stateway Auto Transport.

    I got a daughter going to college in Indiana so I am shipping my vehicle. When I was ready to go, I went on the internet and Stateway was one of the companies that called me back. Here’s the thing that I didn’t quite understand, and I don’t know that there would have been any difference: they are just agents. I was thinking if I had problem, that I was dealing with a company, but I was dealing with an agent. So forget the promises and all that stuff. They sound good but then they give you somebody outside of it. Not that I had a problem. The car got there safely and they got there within the timeframe they said.

    I called the guy during transport. They said it would be ten days, it should’ve been four but they didn’t take right off. I was the first car in the truck so it drove around here for three days with my vehicle on it, but that was part of the game. It didn’t make a difference; it was fine. They did what they said they would do. And I understand the whole transportation business better now. It was just a little tough to communicate; they didn’t speak English, it was very difficult to understand. But they did come, pick up the car and did what they had to do. Also, the carrier driver did what he said he was gonna do. He showed up in the morning and my daughter gave him the check. I already recommended Stateway. They were reasonable and within the budget.

    Called to see if they have a truck in the area available TODAY for a pickup. Was told yes. Booked my car moving with the belief that my vehicle will be picked up TODAY. My vehicle was picked up two days later causing me to incur storage fees. When called to ask why it took me several calls and emails and almost entire day (I started calling after 9:30, did not get to speak with a manger till 3:45pm) after explaining my situation I was told that the agent always says yes or they lose the deal and that I should have specified and paid additional $150 for the same day option. I was never informed or given the same day option. The manager told me that I should have read the contract better and it’s my fault and I'm responsible for any fees.     I just bought a vehicle from a dealer in Houston and I have to ship it to Pennsylvania where I live. I went with Stateway Auto Transport because they could do it a lot quicker than the others. They were priced a little higher but they said they could do it in a day or so and by the time I had this organized they had managed to find someone. The transport organizers were pretty professional. I was pretty happy with the service and with the level of interaction I had with them.

    The carrier-driver was pretty reasonable re: the delivery time. He worked around his schedule. He couldn't make it on time because of traffic, but he did keep me in the loop. So overall, the service is good. Stateway Auto exceeded my expectations. The only part which was a little disappointing or not up to expectations was I tried using the online vehicle tracking system but all it did was it asked me to call a number and then they would provide me with the tracking information.     My interactions with Stateway transport were outstanding from beginning to end. I submitted a request for a quote on-line and received a reply from Sam very quickly. As I reviewed other carriers and was barraged with phone calls and e-mails - some of them really unprofessional and degrading to me - I was so thankful that I had Sam and Pam to work with. No unnecessary calls or e-mails. Very clear and direct information - no surprises at the end.

    They were upfront on prices and services and they kept me informed of where we were in the process throughout the transaction. Pam & Sam were very quick to return e-mails. When there was a minor change in the plan, they quickly called me to see if I would be agreeable explaining the situation clearly.

    The vehicle was picked up and delivered just as expected. The driver was a bit too quick on the pick-up so that the dealer didn't have time to give it a final wash, but was very minor.

    I hope my outstanding driver, Yuri, gets a chance to see this note as he was excellent - how he drove that big truck through small spaces to do the drop I will never know. He took great care in un-packing the vehicle and getting it off the truck. Truly a very experienced and talented driver! I even gave him a tip he was so amazing.

    About six months ago, we moved from Michigan to Florida and I had a race car that I needed for Stateway to move down here. I had a particular need because the car was not running, so I needed somebody who was able to get the vehicle loaded and they were able to do that. They were very responsive. I was given a free quote and the amount quoted was competitive.

    The whole process took three weeks. Everything worked out fine and that's what I expected. The driver was great. As we got close to the date of move, the driver called me and actually moved it up two days and it worked better with my schedule and with theirs. Also during the move, the driver kept calling me pretty regularly, so I didn't need to track the vehicle.

    I contacted Stateway over six weeks before my planned auto move. They gave me a quote for a little under $800 for the move ($650 for the truck and $195 for Safeway) and assured me that they could move my truck from Minnesota to Florida by Sept 15. I understood the driver would call me two days before the move and then call me one to two hours before showing up. We were to meet at the Walmart parking lot. I had not heard from anyone two days before the move nor the day before the move so I called Stateway. At that point everything started to crash. First, you can't reach anyone directly. They are walled off from their customers so you leave a message and someone gets back to you. After numerous attempts, Zack called and gave me the not so good news. The driver would pick up the truck on the 16th and not the 15th. We planned on leaving for Florida in the 16th so that was unsettling but could work if the 16th pick up was in the early morning.

    More not so good news followed. The driver wanted $1000 for the move instead of the originally quoted $650 but Safeway negotiated it down and gave up $100 of their fees to help me. It was only going to cost me an additional $100. I agreed since I was leaving the next day (16th) and wanted my truck moved. I was assured the driver would call me back in one to two hours. I spent the day trying to break through the barricade created by Stateway to talk to anyone to tell me what's happening since the driver didn't call back nor did he return my calls. Each time I called, Stateway say all was well. They were in contact with the driver and my pick up was on schedule. No calls from the driver. It is now the evening of the 16th and no calls from the driver nor from Stateway telling me no one was going to pick up my truck. I decided to drive the truck to Florida myself.

    On 17 July 2014 I entered into an agreement with Stateway Auto Transport to move my car which is not operational (as stated on the agreement) from Plainfield, Ct to Callahan, Fl (Near Jacksonville) for $585. Several weeks went by, and no communications between Stateway and myself. Finally "Pam" calls and said they have someone to move my car for an additional $200. I reminded Pam the agreed on price was $585. She said she will keep looking. Last week I get an email from Pam asking if the car can be listed as operational, can it be jump started! When the agreement was made and as printed on the agreement sent to me by Pam, the car is clearly listed as non-operational. This is a 1966 Porsche that has been in storage since 2008.

    I am not willing from some driver to make an attempt to start the car. I got several more calls from Pam, all requesting additional dollars to move the car. She gave me a plethora of reasons why it can't be moved for $585. Last week, I told her enough is enough and I am ending the "contract". She requested one more week until Friday, 12 Sept. I agreed. Today she calls, all happy that she found someone to move it, but for an additional $200. Again, the reasons why the car can't be moved for the price quoted and agreed on. What business would ever suck you in with a reasonable cost to move the car, then ask for more money?

    I had a number of other vendors that I turned down who would have cost me more, but still less than the total I would have been paying with Stateway. I am not sure who wrote all of the flowing reviews raving about how good they are, but based on my experience over the last 2 months, I will NEVER recommend Stateway to any one. I intend to post as many reviews as possible to get the word out.

I was bringing a car that I had left out of state back to my residence in a different state and their quote was fine so I chose them.     We're very pleased with Stateway. It worked out great. My son is going to law school in Arizona so we shipped his car down there. I did the research and was pleased with the person on the phone and felt comfortable. They were very competitive in pricing and it worked out that there was a truck going down and last minute some other person decided not to have their car transported. They called us and even though it was going to be picked up the following week, we said to go ahead and take it. The young driver was very positive and very outgoing.     Stateway was recommended to me by my employer. I had a job with my company and they needed to relocate me to a different state, so they also transported my car out here for me. Stateway gave the best quote that we had gotten but we had a huge issue with getting my car. My company paid Stateway in full, and Stateway was supposed to pay the driver so that the driver could deliver my car. They didn't pay the driver, so the driver refused to turn over my car. We tried to reach Stateway numerous times to get it all figured out, and it took them about a week and a half, calling them every day, trying to get in touch to get it all figured out so I could get my car. It was not a good experience.

    I went online. I got a bunch of quotes from different people. Their quote was not the least and it wasn't the highest. It was kind of in the middle. My brother has done a lot of this in the past and he went on and saw the reviews and said that the reviews were good so we went with them.

    It worked for what we needed. For what it was, I was happy and I felt like I was charged a good price. The only bad part was that the car was going to be delivered to Amenia, New York, because I was in Colorado bringing another car back myself, and the driver (who was great, was very nice) felt that he couldn't get the truck up a major road in New York, Route 22.     I didn't have a great experience with Stateway. The people that brought my car were just a tow-truck type car and it was just my car. I had a picture of the car before when they picked it up .The car had a big nice metal visor across the front which made the car look great. When the car got here, it didn't have the visor – it was torn off and when I asked about it, he said there was a bad wind that damaged it. I asked what they were going to do about it and it took them a month or two to pay me the cost of a new visor. You can’t buy a new visor that’s like some of the old ones that were nice. They subcontracted the delivery and the subcontractor paid for it but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. I probably won’t hire Stateway again.

    Got a phone call from Pam and learned a little more about the auto transport industry. I'll admit my pickup location was not a high traffic/high volume area so that could account for some delay. I do wish I could have gotten somebody on the phone or they'd call'd me often and been more forthcoming with the information and the process in general (as Pam was), being delayed is bad enough but being in the dark the whole time about what's going on is almost worst. Regardless, I'm updating my rating to a 3 star. If you live in a high traffic/high volume area, Stateway may work out for you. It did not for me but I guess no hard feelings...

    I scheduled a pickup for 'as early as' July 21st. That came and gone, no pickup. I email, they respond that it could take up to 7 days... fine. But that came and went. It's been 3 weeks, no pickup. You can't get them on the phone, seriously. Call their 800 # and try option 2 or 3, always to voicemail. They will 'occasionally' call you back, in which they apologize, promise you you're high priority and they're working on it, and then nothing. I've ready many reviews on them on various other sites and this seems consistent with their service as of late. They're the worst. I wish I'd read the reviews before I chose them. I can only strongly urge you to go with your next cheapest quote, because once Stateway fails you, that next cheapest quote will jump up by hundreds of dollars.

    When I originally made plans for my car to be picked up, I told the first individual I talked to at Stateway Auto Transport, “I need a pickup on or before the 17th of June because I’m going to fly to Florida on the 16th and you can pick it up on the 17th. I’m flying back to Ohio on the 20th and you can deliver it 21st.” “Oh, no problem. No problem.” I went for weeks without hearing anything and then it got to the point it was the week of my flying to Florida and I still had no confirmed pickup. So finally, I just sent a note to him and I said, “Got somebody else.”

    All of a sudden, they were scrambling. Last but not least, they picked the car up and it cost me $250 more than what they had originally quoted me and they said the reason for that was because of the stated date for pickup and it was a rapid order. And I said, “How can it be a rapid order? I made that order two months ago.” Before it got picked up was the real hassle and it cost me $250 more than I had originally bargained for. But once we got things ironed out with regards to the pickup date, the pickup went fine. The transport and delivery went fine, and I had no issues. They did a fine job once the car got picked up.

    I was upset about the $250 but I was in a bind. I spent a thousand bucks to fly to Florida and get my car out of my Florida house, and I had already booked a ticket and it’s a non-refundable ticket. I was just between a rock and the proverbial hard place big time. I had no problem with the work they did once they finally got ready to do the transport, so I would certainly recommend them. But boy, I think they ripped me off 250 bucks and they gave me a lot of heartburn for nothing.

    If there is an option to give less than zero, then this company deserves it. Please stay away from this company. They have no business ethics and they don't care what you go through, literally putting you in a pathetic situation. I placed an order and they were NOT ABLE TO SHIP EVEN AFTER TAKING 4 WEEKS TIME!!! They will advertise mentioning that they will beat any price. (You will get these e-mails even after placing orders!!) You will place order as you find them cheaper comparatively. Then starts the trouble.

    Sales guy who looks very promising/caring will disappear once you place the order. (In my case, he was sounding that they will BE ABLE TO ship in 2-3 days) Then you need to contact one lady Pam. Anytime you call her, the phone goes to voice mail!! She will talk about SLA if you complain about delay and offer you priority pickup which costs 200$ more. You will be in dilemma. You continue to wait... They wont ship your vehicle until they get a driver who is willing to pick at a cheaper price offered to you. (Montway and Affordable Auto transport offer price higher but they have more probability of finding a driver and they will be able to ship.) Every time YOU CALL, they will tell you that they will ship in a day or two, this weekend etc.

    They will appreciate your patience. You will go on waiting but they will NOT ship. Finally, you will end up finding another guy and pay much more to ship your car after waiting for 3-4 weeks. In my case, I had already moved to CA from Boston leaving my car in previous vacated apartment. Since I had parked my car in old apartment and moved here, leasing office started pressuring me to take out the car as we are not supposed to leave the car after moving out. Situation became worst since Stateway did not pick even after 4 weeks.

    To avoid leasing people complaining to police, I had to place an order with another company (Mike Moss from Affordable Auto) to pick the car immediately for shipping and this cost me 1700$. (430$ more than what I had agreed initially with Stateway Auto) But he was honest and did pick on time. (Luckily we have people who charge more but do act on their words and deliver.)

    I had to rent a car in CA for these 4 weeks time which cost me 1279$. The mental harassment for these 4 weeks just cannot be described here. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. TRYING TO SAVE 100$ CAN COST YOU MORE THAN 1000$ AND UNLIMITED MENTAL HARASSMENT.

    I am still waiting on my truck. I placed the order on July 1st. I got the run around for 3 weeks. Then they came back with a phone call for 300 more than quoted. Now the driver is wanting 100 more before he will drop off the truck. After much research even the validity of this review website doesn't show much merit. Why would a review website also have a different toll free number? Well it's used for tracking. To see how many consumers click on that number or use it. To help show that they are a valid form of advertising. Complaints will be filled with the Attorney General in Texas. Since the commerce is crossing state lines, the FTC will likely be involved.

    My daughter had moved to California to go to school and we needed to get her a car. When I first went online looking for somebody to ship the car, I was unfamiliar with the process with the broker, so I looked up another company and the owner has had some issues in the past, so I chose not to use them. And then I finally chose Stateway because I thought they had their own fleet of trucks, and maybe they do but they don't use their trucks. It turns out I was just uncomfortable with the process because you don't know who you're dealing with, but they were good at letting me know who was picking it up, the name of the person and the contact phone number and all went well. Although I did use the online tracking, I do like the idea of that, but for me, more than anything, I'd like to be able to contact somebody and talk to somebody. I'm more comfortable with that. The process was actually good. The day that I called and we worked out a price, they had their truck pick it up, within three days, and they promised the truck would be there in 5-7 days. And it was there in 5 days. The biggest thing is they communicated. They were available by phone, so if I had a question, I could call and talk to somebody. And everybody was helpful. They were there for me from start to the end.

    I needed to ship a non-running antique vehicle that’s going to be restored. I chose Stateway Auto Transport because they offered a reasonable price quote and they always returned my calls on time. Robert, the transport organizer, did a very good job. He stayed on top of things. There’s also a woman named Pamela who also was very helpful. They were very good at updating progress. They kept me informed. The driver was a courteous and knowledgeable guy. We were both from the same home state, so we had a little bit to talk about. He came right on time when he picked up the vehicle. I really appreciated the amount of effort that he went through. It was not an easy transport because the vehicle wasn’t running, and he had to load and unload that thing a couple of times to get other vehicles on the truck, but he did a great job.     I was on my way to New York and I saw a car for sale and wanted to purchase it. I live in Florida, and the car was in Delaware. I made arrangements to have the car picked up and shipped to my home in Florida. I went online to get a quote, and there was a service that sends my information to a few different transporters. Of all the transports that responded with a quote, Stateway wasn't the cheapest but they have everything right. They had the license bonded/insured. They had a list of drivers that were reputable, and I felt more comfortable with them. I spoke to two people. They were both very nice. They called me back and gave me dates and options and it was very good. I'd use them again and recommend them as well. They told me the day the car would arrive; I arrived the day before and the car came the next day.

    When I requested the quote, they told me it would be about 7 days before they scheduled it. They called me on the 7th day and the car was picked up the next day, which was a Wednesday, and was delivered on a Saturday. They were cordial, courteous, punctual and friendly. They did what they said they would do.

    I had an extremely negative experience with Stateway Auto Transport. It’s not Stateway themselves but the contract driver. Even though he was not their employee, they’re ultimately responsible. The reason I hired a transport is because I didn’t want the car to be driven - I just put a new water pump in it. The driver made it as far as the state line to Richmond, and at that point, he lied to me and said, “I’ll get the car down.” He wanted to drive it. The car had an additional 635 miles on it by the time my son received it on the other end. My son said there were empty cans of beer inside the vehicle. So I got on the other end and took a look at it and there’s alcohol in there. I was lied to.

    The driver asked for money upfront; that’s not the way it was supposed to be. It was supposed to be payment on the other end. I paid the company, the brokerage, Stateway, over the phone. I didn’t want my son to be worried about it. I paid them upfront and they delayed the delivery of the car. They promised to transport it in two days and it took eight. They were a good quote, and I checked their record and they had a good one, and so I called them up and their customer service was good. The office tells me when the driver was gonna be out here, and then the driver constantly let me know where he was at and when he was gonna be here, where and the time and everything. He was very accommodating, especially the two drivers. We had two different drivers, very good drivers. It took a week and a half - two weeks to finish the process. They were very good, very prompt, and they were very honest, and there were no unexpected charges or anything like that. I recommended them to my brother, which he used them to transport a vehicle.

    I bought a car off of eBay and they didn't ship from Virginia to Kansas City. I put in a name search just to get some quotes and Stateway Auto Transport shot me back the quote pretty quick. And they would provide a price range that I thought was affordable. The transport organizer Eric assured me that they could get it in for me in the time allotted that I needed it moved. And they did.     We needed to bring back our vehicle to Minnesota from Florida. When I called Stateway Auto, the rate was good and they were very nice and cooperative. So we chose Stateway. It was very nice when they picked up the car. They were very concerned and very careful with it. But there was just a couple of things where things got a little mixed up. It was scheduled for June 11th to pick it up. The driver called because he was running late. He had three flat tires on the way from Orlando to Summerfield. The car was in a gated community, and we had friends that took the car to him right outside the gate. It did get a little in-between where is my car? Are they going to pick it up? The kind of thing that you worry about with your own vehicles. It was hard because I was in Minnesota, not out there in Florida.

    Since he was a little late, I thought I better look and see telephone numbers, and when I looked on there, the one where it was gonna be dropped off at was not correct. So I called the transport organizer and told him that one of the numbers was wrong on there and gave them the right number. He was gonna give it to the driver. As it turned out, when the driver got here and was trying to call, he called three times to the wrong place and the lady who answered called Stateway too and said that she’s gotten three calls and it’s the wrong number. When the driver was only about an hour out, he finally did get me, and so then he did come at the time. Anyway, it got all resolved. It was just those few glitches where you didn’t know exactly where it was. It was supposed to be here on the 11th, and then it still wasn’t here the next day. It was the next one after that. So you worry. But everything worked out fine. We’ll probably try Stateway again if the need comes up.

    My vehicle was picked up on July 14th and delivered yesterday July 15th. The delivery date represents the 15th business day, 22nd calendar day since the first day eligible to be picked up (June 24th). Originally, I was very frustrated but now am satisfied. While I paid the full $545, Stateway made a $100 dollar concession on their fee to ensure the quote they provided was honored, despite a driver insisting on $500 COD.

    I'm currently having trouble with this company. Like so many other comments, they originally promised my car being picked up within 1-5 business days for $495. After I agreed to this, the quote changed to $545 (apparently a quote is only good for 72 hours which I understand, but it would have been nice to know that upfront) and 1-7 business days. A driver was dispatched to pick up my vehicle on the 5th business day but encountered mechanical issues and my vehicle was undispatched. Now we're on the 8th business day and the company's position is they met their obligation of dispatching a driver within the timeframe so if I cancel my order I'm out my $145 deposit, but as a favor to me, they'll waive the additional $100 termination fee. Dispatching a vehicle isn't where their obligations end. If it were, this could be perpetual and they have no liability or culpability?

    What's worse is there's no action by the company to reduce the fee as a business concession and Alex only claims they'll do what they can. Today I agreed to give Alex and Stateway one additional week, business day 9-13. If I don't have my vehicle by Friday July 11th, I want my deposit of $145 refunded and I'll go get the vehicle myself. I then am going to pursue legal remedy due to failure to execute their end of the contract to recover my transportation fees to recover my vehicle. I'll also ask for trouble damages. We'll then see if a Judge agrees that their obligation as a business is only to dispatch a driver and not deliver the vehicle or if as a business they have an obligation to deliver the vehicle and if detrimental reliance exists. I respectfully do not intend this as a threat; it's only a full disclosure of my intentions should the company not have the integrity to uphold what I see as their end of the contract.

    Like a previously written comment, Rachel quoted a seemingly fair quote and assured me that picking up my car for transport from VA to OR by 1 July, or hopefully 30 June, was not a problem. Now that it is late on 1 July, it is apparent that they will not meet this promise. This is all in spite of multiple emails and phone calls between now and the vehicle's availability date of 20 June in attempts to remind them of the importance of this ship date. We are also having similar problems with Alex or anyone for that matter returning correspondence. I am active duty Navy and this is putting my transfer to my next duty station in jeopardy. This was a waste of my time and now I am left to figure out what to do and who to tell that would make enough of a difference to keep this from happening to anyone else.

    I was disappointed with Stateway. My daughter had to move to the San Diego area because she’s on the US rugby team and she’s training for the Olympics. So we had to ship her car out to her. We chose Stateway because of their Better Business Bureau rating and they were more economical than another one that had a better rating. I spoke to a gentleman named Sam and I was told that the car would be picked up within 3-5 days but it was a week later. I should have read all the documentation I received. They honored the letter of the contract, but I was given a different perspective from the sales rep. I was also under the impression from Sam that I put it on my credit card and the initial $145 was taken out of it on pick-up. The rest of it was to be taken out upon delivery, and that was not the case.

    Their subcontractor called my daughter and practically harassed her and was rude to her while she was at the Olympic training center. She cannot deal with that, and he called me then and I said, “Do not call her again. She’s training. Call me.” I had to pay extra to have it taken out of my credit card from that guy directly, or else she would have to go out and get a certified check. If Sam would have told me upfront before my daughter left on the plane, I would have given her a check. She would have had it there ready for him.

    The car was delivered quicker. It was delivered about the same time I was expecting it to be delivered. I watched the guy load it on the truck. It was very good. But he was incredibly rude and when he did drop the car off, my daughter called me up and said, “He said your daddy took care of it very sarcastically.” I do not appreciate him and I was not appreciative of Sam. Also, the guy who picked it up said he would pick it up at 7:30 Saturday morning and called me at 6:30 saying he was there. He was not the most polite guy.

    The people who handled me after the fact were very nice. It’s not the entire company, but the sales dept should be honest and upfront. When you have a good product and a good service, you don’t have to mislead your customer. I’d reconsider the subcontractor too. His timing was great, but he’s incredibly rude with your clients. And basically he’s the reason you lost a referral. I would have referred another lady training for the rugby team and I would have told them have a check ready and given them that warning. And then someone called me up and asked me to give a favorable review for $10 off. I can’t be bought for $10 if I did that review.

    I went with Stateway after reading these reviews and seeing both the bad and the good. Rachel gave me a great quote and assured me they could transport my car from Michigan to Oregon on my two and a half week schedule for pickup. Everything was going great at first. I got a professional email from Alex introducing herself as my personal customer service rep. She promptly answered questions I had about a typo on the quote form. Now, like so many others here, my deadline is tomorrow and Alex isn't calling me back or responding to my email. I received a response saying someone would call me by the end of business today, but it is well past business hours now with no call back and I am leaving tomorrow! I am being forced to leave the car with friends and draw them into this drama. Ultimately, I may have to fly back and drive the car myself, which would be my second trip driving across the country for this move. I am NOT happy about this. Pick a company that will give you a guarantee and take your deposit. If they have a deposit, they are more likely to respond to your concerns. Stateway doesn't take a deposit until a driver is assigned, and if that is never, then they have no obligation to produce.

    I chose Stateway to transport a vehicle from out of state back home because the destination point was local. I felt more comfortable with that and their reviews online were better than anybody else's. Their quote was good and they actually happened to work out quite well. It was just a couple of phone calls, the original quote, email then a couple of phone calls, and it was done. I had the trucking company and driver's phone number as the company didn't have an online tracking system available. On delivery day, the driver called and said he was on his way. He showed up right when he said he would, got the car unloaded, I called him when I got to town, and he was there a couple of hours later. They worked on my schedule, which was nice. They picked it up on a Monday and it was delivered on a Saturday and they did a great job. I would recommend them and if I ever have to move a car again, they would be my first call or probably my only call. Everything worked out perfect.
