I had a heart attack last month and Philips Lifeline saved my life. It was wonderful and I wouldn't be without it. I was sitting on the sofa with my dog when I got the pain on my chest. I felt my heart stopped and the Lifeline team kept talking to me all the time until I lost consciousness. The woman kept saying "they're on their way" and I just held on to that.

Using Philips Lifeline has made a difference in my day to day life. It's gone off at least 4 times so I feel more comfortable having it. It's functional. I fell once in my backyard while I was working on my pool. I tripped and I didn't know it went off, all of a sudden I had help. I wasn't injured that time. Once, I set it off when I got in my car and I left. My son drove up the street and saw the rescue equipment here and the police. One policeman was searching my house looking for me. Anytime I accidentally set off the alert I got a call right away and they wanted to know if I was alright, and I would actually tell them that it's my mistake. I have no problems. I'm satisfied with it, but I was complaining a little bit about the fact that it was only good in the yard and wasn't any good when I was driving my car.

We bought the Philips Lifeline for my mom since she falls a lot and she was living alone at that time. We live with her now but we have to leave home occasionally. Fortunately, we've had good luck with it. Mom has just had dementia and forgets to push the button. Philips Lifeline people are always nice. Every month when we have to do a check-in call (to let them know where they'd call us if the device come unplugged), they've always been real pleasant and they'd replaced the equipment if needed. Our communications with them have been good. We would recommend them to a friend.

My dad is a hundred years old and has severe Alzheimer's so he doesn't even know that he has it. He has caregivers all day and we really like that if he falls down, it will just go off. So far, it works well. I do all of the checking and testing and they're always fantastic. We had a problem with the phone service that was hooked up to it, and they called me on my cellphone immediately and said there's something wrong so it wasn't out for any amount of time. My dad didn't fall to the ground but onto the toilet but it was enough jarring for it to go off and get someone to help. Their staff is awesome so I recommend Philips Lifeline to everybody for overall protection. It's been a great relief to us.

I'm permanently disabled and need help in getting up and everything so I wanted to be able to call somebody in case I needed something. The other night I could not wake my caregiver, so I called my neighbor and got her to come up here and wake her. That's about the only time that I've needed the Philips Lifeline. I've had no complaints at all. They answer promptly and they handle the situation well and then they’d follow up. Very satisfied.

My problem is I have bad arthritic legs and I need a cane or a walker. When I was in a nursing home, I had fallen and cracked my pelvic bone. When I was ready to come out, some woman came in and she cornered and spoke to my son. He thought it was a good idea so he decided I should have it. But this thing from Philips Lifeline is just a nuisance for me. If I move something, the light goes on and somebody comes on and wants me to hold for help. I don't need help. Now, I'm paying the expensive bill and I'd like to get rid of this.

My son ordered Philips and I haven't had any trouble. I've worn it for couple of years and I haven't had to use it. I'm 88 years old. With Philips, I can live alone and sometimes I'm still out cutting weeds in my garden. When I'm home and could hear a noise, somebody coming, I can get the police. If somebody tries to break in, I can call and in case if I fall, I'm safe so that's why I keep wearing it. It's been a security thing for me. I have called myself just testing to see and it goes through. Mine goes into Thomas Hospital and sometimes it's a little bit slow getting the call but that's the only thing. I'm happy with it. I recommend Philips all the time. I've been to people and tell them how secure I feel. I know some two or three that I've told have bought it. Philips call about every two or three weeks so I'm well pleased. Everybody has been real nice and the ones who call are usually women. They're all excellent.

When the alarm has been erroneously triggered Philips responded moderately quickly. However I have two basic problems with the service that they offer. Number one is the loss of service in the event of the loss of power. Another one is the fact that unlike other systems that are now available, it only works within close proximity of the house. Those are the two from a technical aspect. And the third one is the fact that their rate's so high compared to other services.

One time, I tried to open a jar or something and pressed it up against me and press the button. Then, they called right off. The only problem is they call from the southern part of Vermont and I'm from northern Vermont, so if I really had an emergency it might take them longer to get here if they have to come from the southern Vermont. So, I thought maybe they would set it up closer to home. Maybe they have a system that's setup so they could call. But I'm wondering about that because they are in Springfield, Vermont.

I've been with Philips long before I moved in my new apartment two years ago. I had a little problem with them a while back because I don't know the system there, so I don't know how it could've happened. My statement had always come to the correct apartment number, but when I needed a new button, it took three weeks from the time I first called about it when the little red light was flashing for me to get the correct button because even though they sent one out immediately, apparently it went to the wrong apartment in the same building. I don't know how long the red light has been flashing because when my unit was set up, I didn't check it. But I didn't realize that there's a fairly long leeway in there. But the button will still work. Even though I needed a new one, I had tested it about halfway through that time and was able to.

I didn't need it, but I did test it. I try to test it about monthly and it was working. So it was just a matter of phone calling. And finally, one customer service they were all very nice but she went the extra mile and was able to find the tracking number and figure out what has gone wrong. And unfortunately, the apartment it was delivered to in my building even on my floor was to the only person in the entire building that has probably fairly old-timer. And even though she's known me for a long time, she would not have connected that that wasn't hers.

But the only thing right now... I've been a little disappointed because the GoSafe hasn't been available. I've signed up for it and I leave for a trip on Saturday and had really hoped to have it by then. But as I said, that's not your fault or the company's fault. They didn't expect it to be so popular, because they've told me that they just don't have the supply in yet. I keep calling and the customer service team was helpful and friendly.

One of the things that everybody was worried about, including me, was if I had a stroke and collapsed on the floor or if I was semi - conscious, I can't just get up and go to the telephone and take care of myself. I've been using Philips and so far it's been great. I use their automatic model and easy to be in your house. I have the one that I just put around my neck and stick inside of my shirt. I have recommended them to some friends who I feel are much needier than I am, but they are too stubborn to get one. It isn't just because you're getting old, it's because you're there alone.

I fell several times in succession and live alone. Even though I have very, very fine neighbors and friends that I could call, there might come a day when I can't pick up a phone or get to a phone. My son shopped around and came to the idea that Philips Lifeline would be the best offer. I'd only fallen once since I have it on all the time. I still walk with a cane. However, I have the lanyard and the pendant around my neck. The only thing is when I go outside I don't have that system whereby it can be transmitted if I were to fall in the street.

I received a brochure from Lifeline reminding me of things to do and it suggested that I call to see if in fact everything was done all right. So, I did and immediately they answered and were very good. That was a couple of months ago. The button is very easy to use. I particularly don't like wearing something around my neck 24 hours a day, but I do. It's just an annoyance for me to have this hanging on my neck. Theoretically, I'm able to wear it in the bath shower. But I don't like to have this thing hanging on my neck while I'm showering. I take it off and keep it near me. I don't want to put a wet lanyard around my neck or keep it on when I come out of the shower.

I like my Philips device real good, I wear it all the time because I did fall a couple of times. I was able to get it through the Litchfield Hospital when my husband needed one. Then I had it transferred over to me when he passed away. I call them when they tell me it's time to check my phone. I call them and it takes a minute or two, but they answer me and everything's okay. Back when my husband fell and broke his arm however, we called the ambulance and they came right out. It didn't take them long to get here. The only thing I don't like about it is the black cord. A lot of times when I dress up to leave, I put it in my pocket because I don't like that black cord showing around my shirt or blouse. I would like it better if it had a necklace instead of this black cord. But outside of that, it's fine. Right now though, I'm wondering if I'm limited to just the house with it.

Now eventually this health lady wanted me to join Medicaid and she cancelled my button when I told her no because I have to sign my house and anything I have left in my savings over to them). So I had to call Evansville and get the button back, but I have to pay $27.14 every month for it after I had it for 4 years - I don't think that's right. I haven't fallen since I got back from the nursing home so now I just wear it. Somebody does call me once a month to see if I'm alright, and to see if the button is working.

But I have never really needed the device and I don't like it. It's not any good to me when I get out of the house. Don't they have newer buttons now that work when you go somewhere if you get away from the house? I feel like it doesn't work when I need it. 7 years ago, I had my leg removed and my health situation was critical and my lungs have COPD. My daughter called in and got me with this Lifeline. Firstly, they have nice and considerate people there. They're always checking to see if it's working. For instance, I had an incident. I had something that looked very suspicious across the street, there's a house up for sale and I've seen some car pulling up and three very shaggy looking people jumped out of it. They looked all around and one guy went over and knocked on the door and one went around to the back. Then about 5 minutes later, a second guy went around back. Then after a little while, the third one went around and here they come back around to the front and they opened the screen door which they had to give it a tug because it was latched down on the outside porch door. Then they got in.

After about 5 minutes, one of the guys came back out to the trunk of their car - it was like one of those foreign cars. They were dirty looking. I was just getting ready to go to the officers and report them because they were suspicious to me. Philips called about that time and I picked the phone up and come on the line. So they called the office and police for me and they went ahead and came up and the cops stayed there for a little while talking with them. But they let them go. Then that weekend, I read the Weston Chronicle and sure enough I guess there had been some house robberies in the daytime from Interstate 29 across. So by having the Lifeline team up here, I felt it was a big help to me because it relieved my brain seeing the cops coming. I feel 100% secure with it.

I am 82 years old and I had a urinary tract infection several years ago (also dehydrated). That was when my daughter insisted I get a medical alert device and we got Philips Lifeline. It certainly is a relief for my daughter because when I first got home from the hospital, my granddaughter put notes all over saying, "Call Mom" so she'd know I had gotten up safely upstairs. So, its a help but I haven't needed to use it.

The one time I needed it was when I fell in the middle of my street on ice. I wasn't wearing it since I don't wear it when I am running errands. So I wear it almost all the time now, I even wear it to bed at night. I know though that it won't alert when I am too far from the receiver in my kitchen. I wasn't impressed at all with the woman who installed it many years ago. She was knowledgeable enough, but she was in a very big hurry 'cause I think she'd finished working a full day and was on her way home. I used to have to call in or push the button once a month - now, I don't do that.

I used to fall and now that my husband is deceased there's nobody to pick me up. That's why I got the Philips Lifeline. I had it for a year now and I'm doing great with it. However, I like to go outside a lot and this doesn't do me any good outside. I have a patio and I can walk out there but if I should fall out there, the Lifeline's useless because my ping is in the bedroom. Moreover, I see that other people have cheaper ones than I'm paying. So I don't know if I'll be switching or not. I was thinking about it because it's kind of hard for me to pay this when I see there's a lot of cheaper ones. I called up once to see if my battery is still okay because I had no idea if it is. They told me they'll know automatically if it's dead. They're right there when I pressed the button and they were very friendly. So I'm satisfied with Philips Lifeline overall but if they could give me a cheaper rate I’d be happier.

I'm doing fine with the device but it scares the hell out of me when it tells me my telephone's off the hook. I hear somebody talking and don't know where it's coming from. I don't like wearing the necklace around my neck because I have little dogs that jump up on me and I'm afraid they will jump and push the button.

I've had Philips for about 8 years and it's been good. I'm an active elderly and my husband passed away. I was living alone and I have had two knee replacements. If I fall it's hard for me to get up. Other than that my son felt more secure with me having something like this because I live in a town where I have no relatives whatsoever and he lives about no less than a hundred miles away. I'm active and I don't like to wear it all the time because it’s a bit uncomfortable sometimes. It's hard to remember to put it back on when I get back home too. But I like having it. I feel more secure especially at night. Plus, I’m doing what my son wanted me to do by having it.

One night I fell off the bed, hit the corner of the little bed stand, which almost made a cut within the right side of my eye. I was able to use it and get help. I've had times when my telephone system was out and of course, if the telephone system is out so is Lifeline. I can tell then how I depend on it. I just have this uncomfortable feeling when it's not there. So, evidently, it does make me feel more comfortable having it here.

However, my button now goes off and off a lot when I haven't even fallen and haven't pushed the button. It just suddenly starts going off. I was taking a shower getting ready to go someplace the other day and I started hearing the sound that it makes when it goes off and a lot of times it goes off when there's not a problem and I just have to tell them, “I'm sorry. I don't know what happened, but I'm okay.” I guess to the good side it's better that it goes off when it's not supposed to than not going off when it's supposed to. I would recommend Philips Lifeline to a friend. It really does give you some security.

My mother also had a Philips Lifeline back many years before she passed away close to 30 years ago. It did save her life when she had a stroke. She was cooking and she fell and she was able to press the button and in less than 30 minutes she was in the hospital. The stroke was a severe stroke and she lived for about two months. But the house probably would have burned and she probably died in a burning house if not for Philips. I resisted a little bit when my son said I need to have one. I told him I'm more active than that. But he said, "You made granny have one."

I had called emergency one night because I fell and couldn't get up and my husband was at the other end of the house so I couldn't reach him but I could reach the phone. The people at Philips Lifeline were very good, very friendly and they just came in and helped me get up. I go swimming, I shower and do everything with the lifeline. I'm 82 years old and my motto is 'I'm happy, I'm healthy, and I'm ornery'. I just have one little concern about it: I know that they have a new thing you can wear where it has a GPS connection to it. I'm trying to find out how much would that cost per month if I decided to get one. They send me literature explaining what it will do, but not how much it costs and I wanted to know though how much it will cost. Besides this, I'm very happy with the device. Now I do my own testing. People on the other end of the line have been so neat, though - it's a good thing. I'm happy with Philips Lifeline - I know it's there when I need it.

I know my wife used Philips Lifeline a couple of times and it has worked very well. She's in an assisted living right now and Philips calls the main desk there and let them know that she's fallen or having some issues. That's been great. This is actually the reason we got a medical alert device as one day she just fell and couldn't get back up (she's 94). Now she feels real good about the fact that she has the Philips device.

Their representatives were always very courteous and reassuring. They didn't seem to panic which was good. Most of the time, what would happen is she would lose her balance and fall over. She usually wouldn't get injured or anything like that but she did one time when she hit her head on the couch. By-the-by, Philips has been very convenient and we are glad we have it. It's a real nice peace of mind and that's very encouraging.

I have steps going upstairs, steps going to the basement, steps going out into my den where I could fall so my son just insisted that I get it. Since having it, I feel more secure and so does my son. One thing that caused him to get alarm was because I fell in my backyard but I managed to get up and get in the house.

I live in the country, my neighbors are not close enough to hear me and so it's a good feeling having Philips. I do get out around and if I did fall I could get help with my med alert. I gave my son and three of my closest neighbors for them to call, if Lifeline didn't get a hold of me. One time it went off and they called me right away to see if I was alright. They were very nice. I hadn't pushed the button or anything but evidently I had hit something that set it off.

I've had Philips Lifeline for a few years and the times that I needed it, they were great. I've had hip replacements and hip number one is the old method so that comes out. The first time, my daughter said I needed a call button, and I said "that's for old ladies." But that week, the hip came off and I couldn't get to a telephone, so middle of that week came a thing from Phillips. I've used it the second time because when I was just trying to put my boot on, a hip came out. I had my call button on so I pushed the button and the police and the fire came. The third time, I pushed it because an elderly friend of mine was here and he fell down from the stairs.

The other day I was carrying groceries and I was outside and somebody came and asked me if I needed help. I said no and they told me they called my cellphone but my cellphone was in New Hampshire at my grandson's and they called him. I called him right back to say I'm fine. Whenever they call me they're great. Like once my great grandson hit the button and they called and it was just an accident. A couple of times apparently I have hit the button and had not been aware because I was carrying groceries and must have laid a bag on my wrist because they called to check. I got the bracelet instead of a lanyard because I'm afraid to wear it around my neck as it might choke me. I keep the bracelet on but swim 5 days a week and take it off before I go in the pool. I try not to get it wet even if they said it is waterproof.

Since my friend had an experience of falling outside and not being found until the next day which caused her to have frostbite and get surgery because of it, I'm always pushing a call button on anybody that's older. I push for it because they are very important and we should have some safety. I live by myself a bit of a mile from my closest neighbor and I carry with me my lifeline but when I go outside I carry a cell phone, just in case. Lifeline has been very good to me. Recently it said I had low battery and I called them and they sent me a whole new shebang, bracelet, and monitor. Both Phillips and the emergency that come are all great.

Philips Lifeline has been real nice. Once, I accidentally pushed the button and they called but I didn't answer because I just don't pick up the phone with area codes I don't recognize. In a little bit, the ambulance came and said they were there. Philips sent them. So I apologized. They said there's no harm done and that they were just glad to know that they had checked on me as they know I don't have any close friends or neighbors and I don't have any family members that live in town. My button also went bad once and there were two lights blinking. I called and told them about it and they sent me another button.

The only fault I have with them is that the medical alert device is only good if I'm right here in this house. If I needed something, I can't go to the parking lot coz that's where I'd be afraid I'd be falling down. If I fell down out here in my backyard, I don't think this button would pick up the sound, or I'm not sure if I said anything, that this machine could hear it. It's fine if you're in the house, because it worked for me when I accidentally pushed the button. But sometimes the dogs are barking and it's hard for me.

I just want this to reach anywhere I go, like the newer one, instead of just 300 feet because my 911 number will only work in the area where I live.

So far so good with Philips Lifeline. I haven't fallen or had any problems that would call the need for it, but I'm wearing it on my wrist. I don't like the strap that they use but other than that, it's good and I'd recommend it.

Without asking, my son got me the medical alert device. I was doing just fine until I had my 91st birthday and they woke up and realized how old I am and living alone. I’ve had no difficulties with the Philips Lifeline, though the help button gets in the way of my jewelry. But all of my friends are wearing these things, so I’m just right in the style. I squeezed it once by accident and I got an immediate answer, so I know it works. The people were very helpful and asked carefully if I had fallen. If I had been in trouble, I would have been glad to talk to them.

I live alone and I'll be 95 this summer, so my daughter thought I should have alert medical device. I wear the Help Button all the time and the people at Philips lifeline check with me about once a month. I haven’t used it yet, but it's there if I need it. I've heard of some of them that when you're away from home, if you press a button, they’d know where you are. I'd recommend it especially if you live alone.

I'm living alone at age 86. I had a medical alert device before but when I needed them, they didn’t answer so I got rid of it. With Philips Lifeline, the people are very professional and I have no problem with the Help Button at all.

My mother has trouble getting up when she falls so she's been wearing the necklace from Philips Lifeline. She's had it for years, used it several times and everybody from Philips Lifeline has been nice and cooperative.

I'm going to be 90 years old and thought it would be a good thing to have an alert device. I bought a Philips Lifeline and keep it all the time around my neck. It saved me a couple of times because I fell and used it. They were wonderful and were here when I called them. It works very well and I'm very satisfied with it.

I live alone now. The only time I get to use my Philips Lifeline is when I have to go to the hospital. The device is easy to use. I button it around my neck all the time. At night, it sits on my table right beside my bed. I'm happy with it and think all older people should have it.

The people in Lifeline are wonderful and super nice. The device is very good to have, and I wish I could take it with me but it's too expensive to get one that you can take, I can't afford that.

The Philips Lifeline team customer service team were very good and friendly. No problem with them at all. Everything is fine so far with the device. It's in the edge of my bed at night. It's pretty easy for me to use if necessary, I just press the help button. I don't wear it all the time but I do wear it when I go out. I haven't used it, thank God for that. I'm going on 87 and my health is good. I do have cholesterol but with all the pills you take for it, I try to be as good as I can.

Before using Philips Lifeline, I used another medical alert service in the Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. The only thing they don't do that the one at the Mount Auburn Hospital does is, they don't call once a month to see if I'm alright. But as long as it's working, that's fine with me.
