Life Alert was founded in 1987, making it one of the first personal emergency response companies in the United States. The company’s systems have a base hub and a help button that can be worn around the neck on a pendant or wristband. Life Alert advertises that its pendants have a 10-year battery life and don't require charging. Monitoring centers are UL-certified and have the Five Diamond designation from The Monitoring Association.

    I signed up 3 years ago, 3 year term, for parents. Term ends 1/28/24. I called in December, well in advance, to notify them. They told me I have to call back on Jan 10th (they couldn't cancel until 10th) which felt like a scam. I canned right back to speak with another representative to confirm. I called today, Jan 10th, and now they tell me I have to call back on January 23rd. They are trying to force an auto renewal and even charge me for additional months. This service is a total scam once you sign up. No way to cancel online, have to call, and they play a game to make sure you burn out. They even said we need to arrange for someone to pickup equipment before 28th!

    My father passed away unexpectedly and he took care of my mother who had the Life Alert. We had to move my mom to my sister's for a few months and sell their house. She then moved in with me. I could only find 3 out of 4 devices. The guy I spoke with said it would cost 100$ if not found but he said if I found it, I could return it.

    They picked up the devices so I wouldn't be charged another unnecessary month. He also implied that FedEx or UPS would pick the device up. We did find the other device and they already charged me 100. They charged me for an additional month and the 100 and not happy. The guy I spoke with to let them know they can pick up the other device, was cold, callused and rude. Not only have I had to deal with 2 deaths, but all the moving, sorting through belongings, working multiple jobs, taking care of kids, amongst other things, that I have to return it and then I won't get a 189 return for an additional month. I am typically on hold for 10-15 minutes when I call. Sometimes I just hang up. I would find another company. These guys have been a complete headache!
