    I purchased this service for my dad and thankfully never had to use it. When my dad moved into my home and on hospice care I decided to cancel the service since he would have me to care for him 24/7. I called and followed through with the instructions on powering off the machine and was told to have the equipment postmarked by 2/5/18. I carefully packed the equipment and sent it priority mail on 1/31/18 (Weds). I was told by the post office that it should arrive on Friday (2/2/18).

    I called the following week to see that they received my package. They told me that they needed a tracking number, which made me feel uneasy and red flags. I was at work and didn’t have my receipt and was told that it would take a while to process. In the meantime I was charged!!! I called again a few days later and they still claim they haven’t received my package. I feel scammed!!! My dad has passed away and cannot find my receipt. I have contacted my local post office and they are going to see where my “lost” package is. Not a happy customer right now and will NOT refer or use them again!!!

    I feel so much more secure at home alone both inside and around the yard and driveway with this device. My only advice is to hold the necklace when bending over to pick something up, or tie shoelaces. The device is overly sensitive and I've set it off just picking up the paper, or putting on my shoes.     I have all the tools, I keep the buttons with me, but how often should I test to see if the system works? The Mobile GPS Button is hard to tell if it is on or off. The Standard help Button: does battery ever need replacing. Those are my issues to review.

    Hello Donn - Thank you for your questions! We highly recommend to customers that they test each button pendant they have (if more than 1) at least once per month. This includes the main base station and wall buttons, with the big red HELP button. Although we run weekly tests, we cannot physically tests buttons for our customers. You can easily test by pushing your button, wait for it to connect to our emergency dispatcher, and then kindly let them know that you are just testing the system. They will make sure you are safe and okay.

    To see if the Mobile GPS button is on/off, simply push the middle button. If it is on, the buttons will light up. If it is off, there will be no lights. In this case, to turn it on you will push the power button on the side and then it will vibrate when turning on.

    Our Standard help button has a battery life of 2-5 years. If the battery is low, we will get a notification and send you a complimentary button. You will not have to replace those batteries yourself.

Although it is more sensitive than our standard button, it may trigger false alarms. In that case, we would follow our protocol procedures, which is to attempt to reach you on your in-home monitoring system and your premise phone number, to ensure you are okay or need assistance.     Fortunately I check my credit card statement, because I have been double billed 2 months in a row. If this happens again, I will be forced to look for a different company for my mother. Have not had the need to check the service. Hopefully if the need does arise, we will not have issues with that also.     My mother, age 75, stage 4 cancer, fell face down on the floor, fractured her nose and slept there for hours and the necklace did not go off!!!     BUYER BEWARE! This service is a scam. When researching this company it is very hard to find an honest review but do your due diligence and dig. Unfortunately I did not find out about all the billing issues and deceptive practices until my mother passed away and I needed to cancel the service. Even though I told them my mother had passed away and I returned the equipment, they have turned her account over to a collection agency. Her auto renewal was due in August but the credit card on file had been reissued so the payment did not process. During this time my mother was in the hospital and this was not a priority for me. She died in September.

    BBB gives this company an A+ rating however they have over 40 complaints (which proves a membership and enough money you can buy a rating). This is what Bay Alarm posts on the ConsumerAffairs website: “We pride ourselves in providing the highest level of safety, honesty and customer service.” This couldn't be further from the truth. The customer service rep was so nasty when I reported my mother's death, I cried. Bay Alarm was entrusted to provide peace of mind for me and my loved one but instead I was deceived when closing the account. Shame on you for preying on your senior customers!!! Account opened 8/12/2013 closed 8/2017.

    My father has used Bay Medical Alert since 2014. The service has been OK I guess as I have tried no others to compare it with. There is often an unusually long response time from their operators but they usually eventually answer. The billing with them is not acceptable. They will no longer accept any form of payment except a credit card so that they can auto renew your contract. They sent notice saying they would no longer accept check payments after October 2017 so I sent a check in to pay for my next year in September. THEY RETURNED THE CHECK UNCASHED. This is extremely rude customer service and shows they are no longer interested in our business. Customers should be able to pay for services in any way they want. We will not be renewing with Bay Medical at the end of the contract term.

The only negative I have to report is that the fall detection does not always work. My father has fallen on several occasions and we have not been called, however, as soon as my dad has pushed the button, Bay Alarm has called to check on his well being. To be fair, Bay Alarm does freely acknowledge that this can happen. My dad wears the wrist band and perhaps the inner gyroscope in the band cannot detect falls as easily as the necklace would.

    I was delighted when I began using the Bay Alarm GPS alert. However, during a recent test of the Alert, I learned from the person on the line that the unit was reporting me as about 6 blocks from my actual location. When connected to either tech or customer support, I was told that the GPS was not always accurate when the Alert unit was at the home address. In my estimation, that renders it impractical, useless and leaves me in a dangerous situation. Sadly, I have cancelled my contract.

    System difficult to set up. When the power goes out, the system becomes useless. There needs to be an app for iPhones so that the alarm can be used, if necessary. Otherwise, I cannot review the system because I fortunately have not had to use it.     Never know whether an alarm has been sent when we have an electric failure. It would be helpful if you were to keep phone numbers to call to reach you in a nonemergency on the box somewhere. The unit also went off by itself when the button was not in use.

    It seems to me that the battery time holding a charge is too short. Mine only holds a charge for a little over 24 hours. I have not had to use it for any emergency need.     Recently the medical device has begun to interrupt our phone service after placing and receiving each call for up to 60 seconds.     When I described my needs to the rep for Bay Alarm Medical, the two products described were ordered for my 92 year old mother. The first time she hit the floor was just after she began wearing the fall detection necklace. She was getting up from her chair and her feet slid out from her & she hit the floor. When I called the company to express my concern, the response was that she must not have jolted the necklace, which would set it off.

    Since she was not hurt the decision was made to continue using the product. Two nights ago, my husband and I were awakened by pounding noises. My mother had fallen, on her face and had crawled to the door and beat on it to get our attention. Yesterday, when I called to cancel the service the rep asked me, "Did she wait 15 seconds before she started moving?" Besides this being a ridiculous question, I was concerned that this bit of info was never said to me nor do I see it in the paperwork I received. I would never suggest the use of this product to anyone.

    With the fall detection button, an alert will go off if a person was to fall, be knocked unconscious and therefore not move. Unfortunately, we never know when that situation will occur so we understand how stressful it can be and are glad to provide the fall detection button for those emergencies. If someone is to fall, but still be conscious and able to move, we advise all users to push the button for help, which is why the button is still an option on the fall detection necklace. If the fall detection button alerts for all movement, then the device would be set off nonstop.

Once it went off when it fell very softly and not from any height at all onto my bed, I was reluctant to even wear it due to its sensitivity.     I somehow hit my pendant to call for help. I attempted to report that it was an error but my attempts were not heard for some time. Before I knew it a huge Rescue truck pulled into my condo. The 2 EMTs were very kind and helpful urging me to keep the pendant on as a safety feature. Since I saw the Rescue coming into my place I had opened the front door. He said it was a good thing I had opened the door as they were ready to chopped down the door. I have a lock box outside. They were not aware of it so I gave the info to them and he stated he would passed it on to make sure it was on my record.

    Maybe 20 minutes a friend call to ask if I was alright as she had been called by you. Early the next day my brother called to ask if I was OK. He also had been called. Then my son-in-law called to say he had just seen the message on his cell phone. It needed to be charged. Later in the day I talked to my daughter who said that she never got phone call on either their home phone or her cell phone. When I called you folks the next morning I was told Deb's cell as well as the home phone had been called. I am very concerned about the next time the system is used Will I be SAFE???

    I wanted the device quickly, so paid $39.95 for "2-day" express shipping. Ordered on a Thursday, I expected it on Saturday. Uh, no. When I called them on Sunday to find out where it was, they "explained" that although it says 2-day shipping on the site, once I press the "send" button, they pointed out that the fine print that springs up at the bottom once you place your order indicates that it isn't really 2-day shipping, it is "2-3 business days". Meaning that although I ordered it on a Thursday, it wouldn't arrive until the following Tuesday.

    I would have received it the same time as ground shipping. Very unhappy at what I viewed as deceptive advertising, I asked them to charge me only for ground shipping (which it was) rather than for "express shipping" (it wasn't). They refused, indicating that they were within "policy". Nonsense. I have canceled the alarm order even before receiving the equipment. Any company that treats its customers this way will not be a good provider in other ways. Try another vendor that doesn't lie to customers.
