    Each time that I have done a test call, it is very hard for me to understand the operator that answers. I told her that today and she came across a little better (the voice seems jumbled). Also, it seems to be quite a pause after the machine recognizes my call until the actual operator asks how she can help (it was about 2 whole minutes). If I were in a dire emergency, this would seem really long.

    After several months I still have not been able to get the alarm hooked up. I returned the original alarm I ordered because I thought it was malfunctioning. I was sent a replacement, only to find out my phones were malfunctioning. I ordered new phones, which corrected that problem, but I still cannot get the alarm hooked up so it will function. I have a bundled system with my phone company for phone, TV and computer. Bay Alarm told me to plug the alarm into the modem, but there is no place I can do that. I had my daughter come over to see if she could figure out what I was doing wrong as she is very tech savvy. She said it won't work with my phone system, but CenturyLink advised it is compatible with their system. So I've been paying for several months, but I can't use the system.

    I was so grateful for Bay Alarm when I called them shortly after we signed up for the service and I could not reach my 90-year-old mom by phone.     When dad passed away in February, we knew we needed extra care for mom. She has some medical disabilities (uses a walker) and cannot do steps. The system is very easy to set up and the staff was friendly and helpful. Although the speaker on the base unit is very loud and it is not very clear so it is difficult to understand the operator. Also, it would be nice to have a wristband mounted emergency button. The button is also too sensitive which makes a false alarm a real possibility. Overall, very happy with this system.

    I got the subscription for a Bay Alarm unit for my mom who is 91 years old. She is paying for it. We paid quarterly. I cancelled the subscription and they told me before they cancel, I had to send the unit back. Fine, I am. They then said I cannot get a refund (since I am paid until July) because of an early return. That is over $50. They are not providing a service for these two months yet they are still charging. This is not good business. It is a ripoff. My mom is 91 years old and money is tight. I want everyone to know what a company this is. I was a loyal customer for two years. One time my mom fell and the unit did not work. She was on the floor for three hours. They said it was my fault because I did not check the unit monthly. This is a disgrace.

    My father died three weeks before my three-month initial period was expired. I called the day after his death to disconnect the service. Because I mailed back their useless plastic station six days into the next period, they billed me for an additional three months. My phone complaint got me back two months. This company felt justified in charging me for one month's support service for nothing but a plastic box that did not get back to the post office quickly enough after a family member's death. Be very careful what you sign up for here. There is no compassion (just greed).

    When I purchased the product, there was to be no shipping charges. The product was returned unopened and received by them on 4/23/2013. My account was not credited even after 17 days. I had to call and then wait for a return call. I was told they didn't know why I had not been credited. I had in fact been charged shipping and was told they would not be refunding it. She said free shipping was not noted on her screen to which I responded that apparently that was the fault of the salesman. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told she was the supervisor. I asked to speak then to her boss and was told there was no one else I could speak with. I called back again and spoke to another person who put me on hold until he connected me to someone who could help me. When he returned to the phone, I was told I had to write to their corporate office. I feel Bay Medical didn't handle my transaction in a professional or caring manner.

    My mom took her first fall since she began wearing the medialert bracelet. Unfortunately, out of concern for "bothering" us, she delayed pressing the button. But upon her activating the alert, she was promptly greeted, triaged and reassured by your call specialist who immediately notified us. Thankfully, Mom wasn't injured - her pride took the largest blow.

    I would recommend that you add a section to your medialert guidelines addressing the possible reluctance of users activating the alert, if for no other reason than the family might have an informed and caring discussion with their loved one.     I needed help on trying to figure out how to change my wall mount from the red and white plate on it to the neutral color plate. I set the unit off trying to do it myself.     I purchased a monitoring system for my 97-year-old mom so that she can call for help if she should happen to fall when I'm at work or out grocery shopping or doing other errands. The system was easy to install. It just needs to be plugged into a phone jack and also into an electrical outlet. A test is then run to determine that the equipment is up and running. A trial is made by pressing the "alarm" button on the console and again by pressing on the button worn around the neck. In each case, the call was answered promptly and courteously and it was confirmed that our system was in proper working order. We also completed a form with details of my mother's medical condition so that any responders would readily have that information. This information is also posted in a prominent place (usually refrigerator door) so it is readily available to anyone having to come to the house in answer to an emergency.

    I have to admit, I was very tentative when I chose to go with Bay Alarm. I was purchasing this for my grandmother, and they were the one company I had never heard of. But in reality, they were the best over the phone with my questions and concerns. The unit was easy to install and test. My only concern is, sometimes, when we do the testing, it's almost so loud you can’t make out what the person on the other side is saying. It's not a deal breaker because it still works when testing and does what I need it to do for my grandmother.

    On 12/19/12, I ordered your service and equipment. I was told that the service was month-to-month and could be cancelled any time. I prepaid for a year and ordered a lockbox. On 1/2/13, I received the equipment and the agreement. Upon reviewing the agreement, I saw that I could not cancel and had only 14 days from the date of agreement to cancel, which basically left me only a few days to review the information and test the equipment. Reading further into the agreement, I realized that the commencement of the agreement began at the time of my order 12/19/12. This is one of the worst companies I worked with. How can you charge for days of service when in fact there is no equipment in hand to be able to use the service? Then on top of it all, the lock box was never included with the other equipment. I provided the notice of cancellation and sent the equipment back via UPS on 1/5/13. I called on 2/6/12 to find out why I never received a credit and was told that the equipment was returned 2 days late.

    The best experience I had with your company was the representative I spoke to when I inquired on the equipment return, and she was kind enough to have my account credited back. The worst company I have ever encountered in a consumer product and would never recommend your company to anyone.

    The 3 times I have called Customer Service, I have had to wait several minutes to get someone on the line. When they answered, the folks were very helpful and friendly, but the wait times were pretty long. (Once, I hung up after waiting 8 minutes). In addition, when I called today to make sure you had our paperwork back, the service agent said you were "backed up" in getting the forms input to your computer system. Without that input, someone taking an emergency call would not have the info on whom to call, in what order, the location of a lock box, etc. The agent said he would key in online for us today, which we appreciated.     I had been searching for an alarm bracelet for my mother who is profoundly handicapped.     My family ordered a system for my 93-year-old mother. Of course, she is too elderly to understand how to install the system. I went to her house on Saturday, February 2, to install it for her. Since there was quite a bit of paperwork to complete, I needed clarification on the order in which contact notification would be listed on her instruction sheet. I called your offices at approximately 12:30 pm CST and waited literally 10 minutes or more before someone came back on the line to answer the phone after the initial pickup. I believe this is a totally unacceptable amount of time to keep a customer waiting.     When I received my BA pendant, I tested it a couple of times and didn't realize that I had to disconnect the phone line when I wanted to test the range. The monitors were extremely nice and the range on the 1000 ft pendant is as advertised, going even further I believe than the advertised range. Then last night, I was changing the wristband from leather strap-on to twist-o-flex so I could remove it more easily. I accidentally set off the alarm and my wife panicked!     My previous review of Bay Alarm Medical said my only complaint was the unbending refund policy that I (at first) ran into. Everyone I have spoken to at this company has been the epitome of what you would want in customer service and satisfaction. After speaking with Jasmine and explaining the unexpected and unforeseen circumstances that caused my dad to no longer need his BAM necklace within the first few weeks of receiving it (he had to move into assisted living after a car accident), she made arrangements that are totally satisfactory to us regarding an adjustment to his account.

    In this day of automated responses and customer service being a total misnomer, it is really refreshing to deal with a quality company like Bay Alarm. She listened and responded positively to my complaint. I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending this company to anyone looking for a medical service. My dad pushed his button a few times by accident and I overheard the BAM rep talking to him. He's 90 1/2 years old.     Everything about Bay Medical was exemplary. Personnel were fantastic with my 90-year old father. He made a few erroneous calls. The operators were all A-1. Ordering and customer service was easy and superb. But after about a week or so, father was hit by a driver who ran a red light and subsequently had to move into an Assisted Living facility. He had paid his year in full to Bay Medical over $275 with the lock box option. Although I asked, I was told no refund of any portion of his payment could be given to him because he had passed the 14-day return time. He was hospitalized after the accident and we were involved with that. Still, I returned the unit within the first month. I think there should be some provision for a partial refund option. It was a unique case to be sure, but I wish he had not paid the full year in advance and only paid the first month. If that were the case, he would only have paid for service received and would not be out over $200 for nothing.

    At this moment, I am very dissatisfied with Bay Alarm Medical company and its service. I won't bash them real bad at the moment because I am hoping for resolution to the problem. That being said, I purchased this product for my 75-year-old mother who has been falling a lot lately. I got the box along with paying for a full year of service upfront because of all the positive feedback. Two weeks after installation, the box quit working. She, with the assistance of my nephew, called customer service and went through the troubleshooting process. I do have to say that Pablo was very helpful and patient as they tried several things. It was finally determined that the box was not working. It could be replaced at a cost of $250.

    At this point, my mother called me and told me what happened. I contacted Bay Alarm customer service and basically was told the same thing, $250 for a new box and if I chose not to replace box, no refund of the monthly service charge. At this point, I am writing several letters hoping that this can be resolved. I'm not paying to replace a box that quit after two weeks. If Bay Alarm comes through and assists me with resolution, I will update my review. But right now, I'm not happy.

    My base unit chattered loud enough to wake me up quite often. When I called, they tried things but nothing worked. I was told to put it in another room. When I had an emergency in December, I pushed the button but the base just kept saying emergency, but no human answered. I went to my daughter's and she drove me to the hospital. When I wanted to discontinue service before the year was up since it did not work, I was informed that there would be no refund for the unused portion of the contract and that I would have to mail the equipment back at my expense. Overall, I was definitely not happy with this service!

    After a mix up in communication about whether the Bay Alarm Medical system would work with my grandfather's satellite telephone service (not compatible), Bay Alarm Medical issued a full refund for the unit. Customer service was helpful and easy to work with once they understood the mix-up. Exceptional customer service is a sign of a solid company.

    I purchased the Bay Alarm Medical for my grandfather. Prior to purchasing the unit, we asked the customer service representative at Bay Alarm Medical if the unit was compatible with AT&T satellite phone. The rep checked her system and confirmed that in fact, the two systems were compatible. So, I proceeded with the purchase. Upon arrival of the unit, we discovered that the unit is not compatible with AT&T satellite phone services. They offered a full refund of the unit, but they refuse to pay for UPS return shipping.

    I called another rep at Bay Alarm Medical to see about getting return shipping covered and got nowhere. The rep actually told me that, “Since we covered shipping the first time, you must cover the return shipping.” I asked to speak with a manager and this request was denied. This is very disappointing since we tried to be informed consumers prior to the purchase of this unit. We were misinformed by Bay Alarm Medical, and they won't make their mistake right with us. Buyers beware.

    The payment pulled every three months for my mother's alarm monitoring. Unfortunately, she became ill in November, was hospitalized and passed away. The payment for 3 months of monitoring pulled the same month. I contacted Bay Alarm in December and was told by their agent that I needed to return the equipment and then contact them to discuss any refunds. I totally understand that a company would want to receive their equipment and then stop the billing refunding any unused portion. I contacted Bay Medical the first of January knowing that they should have had the equipment back around the 17th of December. I was informed that even though they have their equipment back that there is no refund, because they are so discounted is the reason the rep gave me for the lack of refund.

    I remember checking on alarm companies before I chose them and this was a complaint about many others failing to return patrons’ monies. I am pretty sure I asked about it when I chose them. I think it is pretty crummy that after you pay to ship it back and they have their equipment to use and start making money again, that they do not refund you the unused portion. They know people are suffering a loss as well as many other expenses. I guess this is their way of getting their hand in your pocket too.

    Unless your loved one perishes close to the time before the next payment is due, to pull you will lose money so that does not make this so discounted. I wonder how many people end up paying for services not received while they go right on sending out the returned equipment. I felt the agent was deceptive when he told me to send the equipment back so we could discuss the refund. He knew that there would be no refund. Buyers beware again.

    My mother-in-law was very reluctant about getting a medical alert. She had been falling a lot, so all of her six children went together and each paid for two months of her annual service. When we installed it in her apartment, she was so surprised to see how small the alarm was. When she pushed her alarm to test it, she was completely amazed. "They can really hear me from my necklace and I can hear them even in the other room!" She told her daughter she feels so much more secure at night, just knowing she can push her button and someone will be talking to her and get her help if she needs it.     My mother fell in September and fractured a rib. After shopping around, I decided that Bay Alarm Medical had the best combination of features. A week after receiving the system, my mother's home was burglarized. The priority became installing a security system. Due to Hurricane Sandy, completion of the security system was delayed, which delayed testing to verify that the two systems (security and medical) were compatible. Having paid for a year upfront, I requested that Bay Alarm extend the full refund time limit by a few days until the testing could be completed. They were unwilling to comply; however, they offered every assistance to make things work out. Although I was not happy with the response, it turned out that the two systems were compatible and I did not need a refund.

    I live in Tennessee and my 77-year-old mother lives in Florida. My sister lives in Florida also but not really close enough to check on Mom daily. My sister also has a demanding job and two young children. Mom lives in her own home in a retirement community. She is very active and goes out with her friends to church, to a retirement home to sing, to Red Hat functions, etc. She has friends that she talks to daily, but I was still concerned that if something happened at home, she could be isolated and unable to get to a phone.     I recently purchased and installed a Bay Alarm Medical Alert System for my mother-in-law. The entire experience was very good. The initial interaction with their front-office staff was great - they explained the system well, did not oversell it, and were patient with me as I tried to figure out possible configurations. The equipment shipped quickly and with all expected parts. Set-up would have been very easy, except that I had to install a DSL filter and the included instructions did not describe how to do that. But the IT folks were great in helping out. The system worked perfectly in a big house using the long-range pendant, and the service team was great with testing. We hope we don't have to use it for real, but at least we know the people on the service team are terrific to work with. My mother-in-law felt very comfortable talking to them.

    My experience with Bay Alarm was fantastic! My daughter helps my increasingly disabled parents and at her suggestion, I called Bay Alarm. The first young man I talked to was so cheerful and he was knowledgeable about the product. I needed to get some additional information from my parents before placing my order, so I needed to call again. The young lady I spoke with helped me make an equipment decision. After the equipment arrived, we discovered that a second pendant, which was ordered, had not been included in the order. I called Bay and learned that it just slipped through the cracks, but the pendant would be shipped postage paid by Bay.

    The pendant arrived on, of course, the day my father decided to fall again just before, of course, the system was activated.     I set up the system and during testing, the dispatcher could not hear me. I contacted customer service who had me reset the system by pushing the reset button at the back of the system. I activated the help button again and the dispatcher was able to assist. All were very patient with assisting and answering questions regarding its use. I would recommend that there be an explanation that the system is similar to a walkie talkie and that one must delay answering until the system has switched between caller and dispatcher. I did not read this in any of the literature and it took a bit before the dispatcher realized the issue and informed me of this. Overall, a successful setup.

    We have the system for my mother (92 year old and still living alone; she insists, but we check on her several times a day). It's peace of mind for the whole family. Setting the system up was very easy and Bay Alarm Medical answered all questions carefully and clearly. While testing the system, they were patient with Mom who doesn't understand the system, but is glad to know she can get help if needed. They insisted that Mom respond so they could be sure she was okay. Mom also sent an alarm accidentally, and again they were patient and checked on her. A helpful feature of the system is that after a test or an alarm, Bay Alarm Medical clears the system. This frees the phone line for regular use. This is really important in our case because Mom wouldn't remember, or understand how, to clear it.

    I spoke with representatives several times before purchasing for my non-English speaking grandmother. Since she cannot speak English, I asked if there was an option to have the initial emergency contact person to communicate with her in Chinese. I was told indeed this was an option. I even verified twice with different reps before paying for a year-long contract. However, after purchasing and testing the device several times unsuccessfully, I sadly discovered that instead, the option was not available. Each time my grandmother tested it, the first person always spoke English and it would often take 10 minutes before someone spoke Cantonese to her. I feel misinformed and now locked into a year-long contract that my grandmother is not even comfortable with. She told me that if it took that long for someone to talk to her in Chinese, she would probably be better off calling a family member or even worse, just lie there until the service just calls 911. Oh well, lesson learned and consumer be wary of what the reps tell you just to sell a product; sigh.
