    My daughter recently received an assistance dog in February and was heading to college in the fall. I was very concerned about how she would seek help if alone in her dorm room. Her condition causes her to lose consciousness. With the Bay Alarm wall button, her dog has been taught to push it with his nose, which will then activate the call protocols we have in place. Of course, she can push the button herself if awake and able. When we first tested the system, the monitor wouldn't work but the company immediately sent us a replacement. This has given me great peace of mind. She has only tested the system so far, but the response time and professional manner of the representative is impressive. They even agreed to call out to the dog (He barks upon command!) to make sure he is with my daughter. So far, so good.

    I did my research prior to selecting a system for my dear mom. Based on reviews I narrowed it down to three. Life Alert, Bay Alarm and Phillips. Phillips Corp was very helpful. I was then referred to my local customer service. The number I was given was for a nursing facility so I was confused. Apparently, Phillips shares a space with them. Wasn't comfortable. I spoke to two individuals at the local number and both were very rude. My thought was - if I am not a customer now and this is how they treat me, I am not interested in giving them my business. Called Life Alert. The woman would not answer my simple questions. She had me on the phone for over 1/2 hr. Finally I told her I had to go. Highest price and high pressure sell. The woman called me for weeks. Called Bay. Nice and easy. Pleasant and helpful customer service. Good price. Based on my experience in selecting a service I would definitely recommend.

    I signed up for Bay Medical Alert for my parents. One of the attraction of the system was the different language availability. My parents does not speak English and I thought this system would be great for them. It would give them a peace of mind that they can speak to someone who speak their language when they need help. That did not happened. What a disappointment!

    I help my parent set up the system. It was simple enough to set up. We wanted to test the system to make sure it work properly, and I wanted to make sure my parents know how it work. We pressed the HELP button. The alert was activated and the beeping sound went on and on... 10 minutes or so later the call center person came on. I told him we are testing the system. He confirmed my parent's name but gave back the wrong address. I have to correct him twice before he got the address down. That worried me.

    After 15 minutes, we test the wall units (we have to pay extra for those). This time NO ONE from the call center call back. We waited and nothing. About 15 minutes later the fire department called to let us know that they are on the way because a medical alert have been called in. I have to apologized and to let them know that we are testing a alert system and that Bay Medical should not have called 911. My parent was confused and not sure they wanted to use the system.

    I want to give the system another chance so I went back to my parent place to try it again the next day. Same thing happened. NO ONE call back from the call center after the HELP button was pushed but instead Bay Medical called 911 again! (What is the point of advertising of different language when NO ONE call back!) This time the medics show up at my parent's house. I apologized again for inconveniencing them. 20 minutes later, 911 called us to ask if there is a medical emergency because they are still getting the medical alert form our address. I was on the phone all morning with Bay Medical's customer service and 911 dispatcher, what a nightmare. My parents was so frustrated, they want nothing to do with the alert system. We packed it up and shipped it back. Worst part Bay Medical refuse to pay for shipping! I'm expecting full refund plus shipping. Will write another review when I get it.

    I researched many life alert devices before choosing Bay Alarm Medical. The installation was very easy and it seemed as though it was a good choice for my elderly parents. At 3 am on Friday August 19, 2016 the device malfunctioned. Several phone calls were made by Bay per our instructions and the paramedics were called out. Here is the problem. The base unit was unable to communicate through the speaker. If it was working, my sister, who was staying at the house, would have heard it and would have let Bay know it was a false alarm. They called the house which woke my sister. She was unable to get to the phone in time. Bay did not even leave a message, so she was confused about who would be calling at 3 am.

    The next thing she knows is the paramedics coming into the house through the garage. They informed her that they were dispatched by Bay Medical. So she and the paramedics checked on my folks. They were sound asleep and the alert buttons were on the bedside table. I went to the house a few days later and tested the base unit. It could not complete the call so I had to reset it. After that it seemed to work fine. So I called Bay Medical. They informed me that the monitor detected a fall. Turns out that was impossible since the buttons were on the night stand. Due to the fact that Bay Medical unit is unreliable and we are now being charged for the paramedics, (Bay was not willing to take ownership) I am returning the unit. We will see how that goes.

    We received the unit for my mother late on a Friday afternoon. Every time I plugged it in, it said 2 & 1/2 - 3 bars. But after I tested the watch unit it would say only 2 bars. This happened 5 times. So the next morning I called technical support. He researched the issue, fixed something on his end. I reset it & it worked perfectly.     We purchased this unit for our mother and called them several times for assistance because the wireless unit we ordered did not pick up signals in her area. It took us a while to try and get it to work with no success. When we asked for a refund they denied us because we went past our return deadline. Our argument was that their sales people should have told us before the sale that the unit does not work as advertised in certain areas. I spoke to a very unapologetic supervisor named Pablo, and without remorse or concern pretty much told us that we're too late and he will not issue a refund.

    We are currently working with our bank and credit card company to help us get our money back. I teach customer service seminars all over our country and this is a very poor excuse for great service and a complete and total misrepresentation of the capabilities of the unit. Even more interesting, I drove the unit to my own home (15 miles away from my mom) and the unit would not pick up signals there either. I'm looking for a refund, will never do business with Bay Alarm again, and will most definitely talk about them at all of my trainings and seminars. There's nothing like bad word of mouth.

    I installed a brand-new Bay Alarm device in my sister-in-law's home about noon, and left her about three p.m. She felt ill after we left and in the late afternoon she went to bed. She has a great deal of trouble moving about due to severe arthritis, and when she awakened she felt even more sick but could not get out of bed to reach a telephone. She used her Bay Alarm pendant to summon aid, and we received a call early in the evening that she had been taken to the local hospital.     We were called by Bay Alert to complete a monthly test, and discovered that the necklace alarm wasn't working and the company was aware of it the day before, but didn't notify us. The supervisor I talked with showed a complete lack of concern for our situation. A replacement necklace would take 5 DAYS to arrive. I can't believe that Bay Alert does not provide overnight mailings when a customer's safety is involved. When I asked for a refund for the days of missing service, (5 days) I received a refund... Of $1.65. The new alarm necklace did come in 5 days, and it does work, but this entire situation has left me feeling uneasy about my mother's safety.

    Bay Alarm Medical has no heart. We were customers for many years. The service was good but their return policy is draconian. My mother passed away yesterday and I was informed that I would have to return their equipment at my expense. I understand a no refund policy if you cancel w/o a good reason but even under these extenuating circumstances they refuse to budge. In addition I was told that if I didn't return their equipment they threatened me that they would put me into collections. I feel like they have stolen my money. I understand your company is sending my mom a new alarm button for around her neck but you are making her pay for shipping for a piece of equipment that is not her responsibility for being operable.     Excellent Response to Test Contact - I am the daughter of Mildred and we had her press her call button to show her how it works. The response was great! We were then given the customer service number to ask if alarm and fall button combo was waterproof. Ashley told us she and her co-workers actually placed it in water to test it. What a great testimonial! Trying the product you sell. She reminded us to hang the pendant as opposed to setting it down to prevent accidental activation and not to sleep with it. She was very upbeat and friendly and Mom who is 82 said she would like her as her personal person to answer any alarm she may activate. She was an instant hit with Mom. Keep up the great service!     To be honest with you, I switched from another company due to poor service and had a two-week or more delay in getting my mother her alarm system because the address with the "apartment number" I entered in the self-serve online order system was never put on the shipping label and therefore the item sat at UPS in Auburn, ME for two weeks while my mother had no device. I called and the person was semi-rude and did not acknowledge the mistake even though he knew what happened. He just said it is at UPS. Over 10 days later I called again and then found out the story and called UPS myself to have it delivered. Any change or modification of address has to come from the shipper, you.

    Today, I had to cancel my mom's service with Bay Alarm but not because of any problem with them. Instead, my problem was with Frontier Communications. Our land line keeps going down with weeks before it goes back up. So we are switching to a company that can offer a GPS system, fall alert system and be used at home, with speaker in the device - all in one - so mom will wear it. Right now, Bay Alarm doesn't offer that. However, I highly recommend this company and have consistently found their customer service to be some of the best of any company I have used. This morning, Katie was extremely helpful and sympathetic to our problems. There was no wait time to speak to her, she offered the best options she could, and worked with me to cancel when we realized they could not offer what we needed.     The problem I have with the monitor is with the "fall alert." It is so sensitive that I have had it go off when I am in the shower several times. Had to jump out and run to the machine dripping in order to tell the person I am ok. No problem. It needs a way to be shut off when something like that happens. BTW, I am very hard of hearing so I can't hear the inquirer when I am in the shower - which is why I go to the machine to speak with the inquirer.

    I signed a yearly contract with Bay dated June 21, 2012. The terms of the contract state that "At the end of this agreement you must return all equipment to Bay in good working order. If you fail to do so within 10 (TEN) days following the expiration or termination of this agreement you will be fully liable for the value of the system ---which you agree is $150.00." I cancelled the agreement stating it would terminate on June 21, 2016 which was the anniversary date of the signing. I received a letter informing me I must return the unit before June 20, 2016 or I would be charged $200.00. This is a violation of their agreement and a fraud on their part. This is not the policy of a reputable company. They are fine till they no longer can count of more revenue from you. The equipment will be returned before June 20 even though I will lose benefit of their service which I paid for. I regret having contracted with this company and my posture is: GOOD RIDDANCE.

    First I did my research and still went with your company. My research suggested that you do not do well in customer complaints. So here is my story. I ordered your system for my elderly parents. I ordered 2 emergency buttons (one pendant and one watch type). The watch button was not in the box which was opened a couple of weeks after delivery (I am busy and I asked my parents to wait for me so they wouldn't screw up the simple installation). I emailed Rachel whom I order the system from on February 18th... It's now March 22nd. I have still not heard back from her or anyone else. I am busy and really and quite disappointed and at this point would never recommend your company. I am marking my calendar on March 22nd. My guess is I will never hear from your company. Received in a timely manner, easy setup, and I tested it in different places in the house as well as outside where she feeds the birds, and it sent an alert just fine. But when I did an actual call test, I had to respond to the caller about five times before she acknowledged that she heard me and that I was just doing a test. She kept saying, "(Mother's name), do you need help?" And even though I was close to the unit, she didn't seem to hear me. Also, the voice reception was not good. Sounded like she was breaking up. Did a monthly test again, and had to speak twice before she responded. Again, the voice quality was not good. Hard to understand. Haven't had to use it in an emergency yet.

    I paid for 3 months service (to get the better per month pricing) to have an alarm system for my disabled sister, who lives 350 miles away from me. The cellular system did not work in her location, no matter what they tried (with your technical support). So we cancelled the service. Because my sister does not drive, and it took longer than expected for her neighbor to return the unit, and I live far way, it arrived 7 days after my "14 day trial period".

    I was shocked to find that I will receive NO REFUND. I certainly could understand having to pay for a full month, but THREE MONTHS FOR A SERVICE THAT DIDN'T EVEN WORK? I requested a call back from the customer service manager (Lanetta?) but that didn't happen.     Bay Alarm medical has policies which promote unfair treatment of senior citizens, due to unfair requirements for return of medical equipment which she was unable to use and inflexibility with returns. My mother purchased the Bay Alarm Medical alert device and upon getting it set up, realized that it does not work for her. She found the bracelets to be cumbersome and difficult to take on and off, which she was required to do regularly after taking a shower. She did not want to wear the necklace because it was uncomfortable her for as well. As soon as she realized this, she had me call Bay Alarm Medical to explain that she was going to be returning and make sure that she would receive her money back. (I am serving as her representative because the logistics of calling and making complaints would be too hard on her right now).

    I was explained by numerous representatives and managers that there was no way that she could receive her money back and that the policy of 14 days starts upon current receiving the package, which at that point was over. I explained to the managers that because my mother is elderly, it took her a while to remember to open the package and get it set up and also that from the day that it was actually activated, we were within the 14-day period of that day. They would not budge at all. I explained that the product was not working out for her and asked for some leniency, based on the fact that she is a senior citizen and that we were only a couple of days after the grace period for return and well within the 14 days of activation.

    The managers were supposed to call my mother to fix the issue, but they never did. I had to call repeatedly to follow up and whenever I was told that they would not make an exception for my mother, they refused to give me the name of someone else to call who was higher up on the managerial chain. I feel that this is very unfair to not work with my mother on this issue and feel this is taking advantage of senior citizens. I worked with both the BBB and our local consumer affairs and no one was able to get through to them that they are committing elder abuse so hopefully they will read this review, modify their policies to be more accommodating to seniors and prevent this from happening in the future.

Need guidance what steps to exactly follow to remedy vs having to contact customer service. Also, the questionnaire has a column regarding contact 911 first as it lists the family members contact sequence. Much confusion and two calls to customer service did not resolve the issue since no one wants to wait on calls to family vs 911. Very confusing. Needs better wording or just say if in the initial contact with the call center a determination will be made to contact 911 immediately.

    We were using the Bay Alarm Medical service for 3-4 years and paid by the year. Luckily we never had to use the system except for tests which always went well. Our renewal was in August 2015 and we paid as normal. In February 2016, we had to move my father to a skilled nursing facility. I called Bay Alarm Medical customer service to find out the procedure for cancelling, sending back the equipment, and getting a prorated refund for the remaining 6 months we wouldn't be using. Bay Alarm Medical does NOT do refunds! I was also informed that if I didn't get the equipment back to them by August 2016 I would be billed monthly until they did. I don't like paying for services I don't receive!

    After posting my negative review of Bay Alarm, one of their customer service representative, Gjenes reached out to me and offered to refund the unused portion of my Grandfather's service pending I return the device and necklace along with a copy of his death certificate, which was delivered on March 2, 2016.     My Grandfather couldn't use Bay Alarm Medical's response unit anymore. He died. And as the saying goes, "you can't take it with you". In an attempt to settle my late grandfather's remaining affairs following his death, I contacted Bay Alarm Medical to get instructions on how to return the medical response unit and necklace. I learned that my Grandfather had just paid $240.00 for his annual subscription in Dec 2015 and passed away in Jan 2016. I was incredibly disappointed to learn that Bay Alarm Medical does not do a prorated refund under "any circumstance" -including DEATH- for any unused portion of their service. There are many ways to earn a dime and be a profitable company in integrity Bay Alarm Medical. Keeping money for a service not being utilized is shameful. Don't you realize that many surviving family members could use that towards funeral expenses and more?

    I signed up for Bay Alarm Medical. I got the service as a gift. They asked for the contact info of the person who would use it. I hesitated and explained that it was critical that the service should contact me exclusively for billing issues. They explained that they only needed my friend's contact info since the service would be used by her and involved her number and address. So I agreed and paid for a year in full up front. My elderly friend did not want the service. I called Bay Alarm to cancel. The agent said "No big deal." I wouldn't get a refund, but there would be no further charges. She didn't ask for anything in writing.

    A year later, the account I thought had been closed was automatically renewed for another year. I found this out because my friend received a letter from Bay Alarm demanding payment. She was very upset and understandably believed I had been meddling in her finances. I had no idea it was legal to hold another person responsible for an account they played no part in establishing. It must be because the rep I spoke to said that it's Bay Alarm's policy to hold the elderly person responsible for payments regardless of who opened the account.

    As far as the above star review... I put 3 stars because I am really not sure. I purchased the in home medical alert system for my mom. Set up is supposed to be easy. It was not too bad but I was hoping to be able to set it up in a central location in her home. The only place possible is kind of far from where she is for part of the day. If my mom needs to access the phone box, she has to go up 2 flights of stairs to her bedroom.

    Also, She accidentally pressed the button on her necklace a few times, which caused paramedics to come to her home unnecessarily. After the second time, they suggested she cinch up the necklace, which she did, and I think that has helped. The first time it happened, she had talked to Bay Alarm and they said they would take care of cancelling the paramedics. She was totally embarrassed when they came anyway because she was in the shower. If Bay Alarm had warned her that the paramedics might still come, she probably would have waited to take a shower. I'm sure it costs for the paramedics to come, when they do not need to, but I am very glad that Bay Alarm sends someone quickly.

    I am more than happy with both Shyra ** and Rachel ** in assisting me in the process of ordering a medical alert bracelet for my mother-in-law Virginia **, who is hard of hearing and wears hearing aid.     Shyra worked with me to verify the pendant worked like it was supposed to. It did not. Her supervisors initially wanted me to pay for the shipping to receive a new pendant, even though the system was delivered an hour before I called and spoke to Shyra. I felt this was unacceptable customer service on her supervisor's part and told her so. She was able to convince them that shipping it for free would be better than returning the whole unit and sending me my money back. I would hope that the supervisors have better common sense in future dealings than what they initially showed today, otherwise this will be a short lived business dealing with your company. At least Shyra was able to correct the situation.

    My mom had to be put into assisted living where they have their own alarm devices, so my mom did not need the Bay Alarm device any longer! I called to cancel with Bay Alarm! I had just paid the $239.40 for the year 2 months prior! Not only was I told that I would not be getting a refund for the year I paid, but I also had to pay to ship the base unit and the neck alarm back to Bay Alarm! Also if they did not receive the unit it would be a $200 equipment fee. What a nice friendly company to be dealing with the elderly!!

    Pros: BAM actually works. We used it in a real emergency. No extra charges for using it, including tests. Options for everything you would need, from lock boxes to cellular-phone based emergency alert buttons. Cons: I understand product recalls happen. But it's been two months and we still don't have the issue resolved. We still don't have a working fall alert button, though we have a working regular button. No tracking information for the shipping of the replacement equipment. When I talked to BAM, they didn't understand when it (if!) would ship because it was from a third company. Interactions with BAM customer service have been sometimes positive and one time quite negative (a rep shouted at my mother when there was confusion about pairing the device).

    I will start by saying I never had to use the device to call for an emergency. My experience is solely on dealing with the company and the return policies they have. I was told that I could return the device, and pending the postmarked date, I would receive a full refund for my charged card. What I was not told was that a tracking number was needed for this refund. On the paperwork it is recommended, but not required, however, if you happen send the device and need a postmarked date to be refunded, you will need a tracking number for your package. I had to call three times only to receive this information after sending the device.

    False alarms about 6 times during 4 HR period. It was 3 hrs before customer service was open. The emergency response team in Utah told me I had to wait until Monday.
