I have been battling Capital One for quite some time now. I discovered that someone used my information to obtain one of their credit cards, the funny thing is that according to Capital One they actually made payments on the card and then defaulted. I've been disputing this account through the credit bureaus and through Capital One. Each time I disput through the credit bureaus I get a response of "this account has been verified, no change".
I have called and written numerous letters to Capital One requesting a fraud investigation, but they refuse to assist me. I've also called and written requesting copies of the statements, but most importantly a copy of the original application. But they literally refuse to give me any information and when I ask to speak to their supervisor I'm told that they are too busy to speak to me. I have been verbally insulted and they hand up on me. I have never received a response to my written inquiries.
As a result I have been unable to find a mortgage lender that would make a loan until I pay off the debt.
Adolfo and the others should file a complaint with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, which regulates national banks.
