As an active customer of Ferrell Gas, and being new to the area and not accustomed to using gas, this has been a very sour learning experience! We learned we were out of gas on a Friday at 4:30, our fault but we're new to gas and filled up last August and it's January. I immediately called and paid $1,500 and spoke to 2 service agents. I was then told no one could come for 4+ days! I understand it was Friday afternoon just before closing but I offered to pay extra for emergency service- NOTHING! I had to pay FIRST before I could even speak with someone. Because we lease the tank from Ferrell, we are at their mercy...no other gas company can help!

SHAME ON YOU Ferrell Gas for doing your customers so poorly! You should have extra drivers and equipment on hand for such times as this as it is going to happen every year. The length of time to get a delivery should not be more than 24-48 hours- It's 50 degrees in my house, the heat is our main source and we cook with heat too - IF my pipes freeze because you can't service your customers in a more timely fashion, we will seek legal action. THIS SERVICE and lack of care for your customers is inexcusable! WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH! DO NOT USE THEM- Bite the bullet and BUY your own tank so you can get gas faster or go electric!

I would give them zero stars if that was an option. Do not depend on Ferrellgas if you need a delivery in NY (Cazenovia NY) and there is also no customer service support. I Placed an order on December 22, 2025 which was supposed to be delivered by January 1, 2026. They cancelled my order on January 2, 2026 without notice supposedly based on the driveway had snow on it. Driveway was plowed and path to tank was cleared out. All of Cazenovia including side roads are snow packed.

Customer Service indicated that drivers are instructed not to deliver if they can't see bare driveway or ground. I have had propane deliveries from other propane providers for the last 26 years without issues (including Ferrell Gas for the last 3 years during the winter months) without any issues and the driveway maintained in the same manner. Bottom line, Ferrell Gas cannot be depended on and is not trustworthy or reliable. Use of different provider if you want peace of mind.

Ferrellgas is terrible at communication and unreliable. We finally had enough after this most recent issue. We are set on auto fill and they were suppose to come December 27th and just didn’t show up. Fast forward to January 2nd we have no heat and call to have someone come out, they first say they might be able to get someone out in a day or two and then never call back. The next person says they can’t get someone out for 4 days even though we were on auto fill. We canceled their service and then they called to say they can maybe get someone out in two days. They are completely unreliable. Now we have no heat in January in Michigan for the weekend with an infant, writing this so others don’t waste their time doing service with them.

Every order is a 10 day delay and is still never delivered on time. It's always late. The last late delivery we received a half tank filling without letting us know. I found out a couple days later when I went out to check the tank status out of curiosity. Not to mention they are outrageously expensive in comparison to local competition. The second the ground thaws I am saying bye bye to Ferrellgas for good and going with another service provider.

It is the middle of winter and we are now in danger of running out. Suburban Propane, here we come. It’s obvious Ferrell doesn’t want our business.

Ferrellgas sucks. They let me run out of gas. Thank goodness for electric heaters. Called them twice. Told them I was about out of gas. Said they would see what they could do and nothing. Now I am out. Put my order in over a week ago. Before now never took more than a couple of days to get a delivery. Been with them for over 7 years but now looking for another provider.

My Ferrellgas propane delivery that was to arrive Wednesday because we paid a $100 rush fee, did not arrive. I called Thursday morning and was told it could not get here Thursday, but would definitely be here Friday. Friday, I called at noon and was told it was on their route and they had a few more to go to get to me and it would be here by the end of the business day.

I called at 4:30 pm Friday and was told it would be here, but they were delivering into the evening, which was why it hadn’t arrived. At 7:45 pm, I heard and saw the truck approach my driveway. I then heard it turn around before coming down my driveway and it left. I called the emergency line and the person told me “The driver deemed the driveway unsafe, and they are allowed to use their discretion if they do not believe it is safe.” We ran out of propane around midnight.

My driveway is the same driveway Ferrell has delivered to in other Michigan winters last year. The past 2 days, we have had multiple delivery cars and trucks up and down the driveway. Friday at noon, we put 400 pounds (yes that is literal) of salt and ice melt on the small hill to ensure it was not slick. In the 5 years since I have lived here, there has never been a truck who has failed to deliver because it was “unsafe”, and we have had many deliveries in snow and ice-it is Michigan.

Last year, this happened as well because the 2-day delivery we requested didn’t take place. That time we requested the 2-day delivery toward the end of the week so we let it go. They refunded the $100 expedited fee we paid, but that did not do much, considering we spent the weekend in a hotel. This time we requested the 2-day delivery on Monday and by Friday it still isn’t here, even though we called 5 times over 2 days to ensure it would be. This is unsafe, and if my driveway was not something comfortable for your inexperienced drivers, you should not have agreed to be our propane provider. I need an emergency delivery and have been told there are no options.

I WILL be replacing them!!!! I was all set up on auto refill. It's our first winter here and the house is using more than it should till all the repairs are done. So I had to call to get a refill. They canceled the refill (automated call) and rescheduled it. Nobody showed up and nobody called to say why. I called the next day and was told they had no date. Then after 3 days I called and they told me I was scheduled for that day, but nobody showed up and nobody called to say why. The next day I called and finally got an answer. I have a dog so the driver keeps skipping me!!!! WTF?!!! I told them my dog is inside and only goes out when I'm out there and they know that because they had been told before the tank was even put in. So I'm never going to get LP delivered because I have a dog? And they can't call and talk to me about this? I don't play these games!!!! I set up auto refill for a reason. So I didn't have to go through this BS!!!! I'm DONE!!!!

Called them because a different company refused to come fill my customer owned tank because it wasn't level. It would have been nice if the original company (not Ferrellgas) had told me that they refused to fill out tank again way back in March, but that didn't happen. They told me they would level our tank and fill it. When I called we were about 20 percent full. It took them two weeks to come level the tank, and despite being told they could fill it the same day, that simply wasn't true. So I had to call again to have them fill the tank, and at this point we were down to 10 percent, so I paid extra for a rush fill.

Delivery day came and nobody showed up to fill the tank. They then told me they would come fill the tank on their normal delivery day, and guess what?? Nobody came. So, it's Thanksgiving day, and we are on 3 percent. They probably won't come till next Weds, if we are lucky. We will definitely run out at this point. This isn't a money issue, it's a service issue. I would call someone else but we prepaid for the fill. Now I remember why we dumped these guys in the first place years ago.

They would not maintain their tank. I called and messaged for three years regarding the tank paint peeling off and blowing around the yard which is all fenced in for our three Boxers. So for three years we would walk around the yard picking up all the paint chips so our dogs wouldn’t eat them. They finally came on 08/05/2005, with no notice to us, to paint the tank. They power washed the tank first and then painted it and came to the door to say they would be back tomorrow to put the decals on it. I went out to check it before I let our dogs out into our beautiful fenced in yard and there were 1,000 paint chips all over the yard everywhere and all over our cedar fence and into all my flowers and just a huge huge mess.

I called and was told by district manager that this was to be expected. We told them that was totally unacceptable and so disrespectful of our property and come and get the tank as we are done with them. If we would have known the absolute mess they would leave we would have put down tarps or something. Three days later and no call and nobody has come. My husband put up some temporary snow fence to section off that area of the yard from the dogs. We have never seen such disrespect.

I've learned my lesson and will be using a different service in the future. The Drivers are always nice but I sure don't understand their pricing policy. For over 21 years, I’ve maintained a lease with Ferrell Gas at a summer cabin that is visited by the family only 2-3 times per year. When we purchased the place in 2004, I continued the service at the recommendation of the previous owner. No issues whatsoever. I paid the yearly lease fee that varied erratically from as low as $27 or so to over $75 a year, the latter rate being more consistent since about 2011. Somebody must have updated the books to find how reasonable my rate was under the circumstances! Understandable. Regardless, I didn’t care. It was nominal. No problem. The tank was rarely filled, with many years between fills. The frequency and duration of our visits to the cabin dictated that. Never had any issues with the tank itself. At no time was I ever informed that this steady relationship would become an issue. Until now.

Suddenly, I’ve been informed that the yearly lease fill will increase by 100% to $150.00 a year due to my “minimal use,” apparently a designation by Ferrell Gas if one falls below at least two fills per year. Definitely news to me! Why the sudden change after over 20 years? I contacted Ferrell Gas immediately to explain the longstanding nature of the account that heretofore was not a problem. I spoke with an exceptionally pleasant and helpful representative, Debra H. She was great! Unfortunately, the ‘manager’ she engaged on the matter could offer only a temporary continuation of the $75 per year lease fee for this year that would double as originally intended in years thereafter unless my use increased. Wow! That’s just not possible for my family. Was there the possibility for a reasonable compromise for such a loyal and longstanding account? No. Sad.

Instead, I’m left with no alternative but to try to use the remaining propane in the tank this year before the end of the final lease period, when the tank will be removed. To add insult to injury, I won’t be reimbursed for any remaining propane left in the tank either. So, sadly, a long-term relationship ends. A relationship in which at least a small but consistent revenue stream was coming to Ferrell Gas. Soon, there will be none. Does that make business sense? Isn’t something preferable to nothing? Obviously not. Of course, I’m sure there is some ‘corporate’ rationale, but from a simple customer perspective, it’s perplexing. Well, on to another provider. Thank goodness for the free enterprise system we enjoy as Americans. Goodbye, Ferrell Gas. It was just fine while it lasted. For the record, you left me.

The Pros, the people that run the deliveries and do the installations and safety checks are exceptionally careful and very safety conscious. The Cons. The prices are very high for propane and the tank rentals, if you don't take 2 deliveries per year on a 120 gallon tank, they double your rental fee which is high to begin with. The amount they change is the amount they can get away with charging for a given area. Also if you don't wait for your tank to reach a certain level, they won't fill it. It's hard to avoid having to fill it in December or January when they like to charge double. I'm on my 3rd year with another supplier, I have no issues with my new supplier on service and Price.

I run a wood burning stove 24/7 when it’s cold & the propane furnace never runs unless the woodburner is not operating. I noticed a strong odor outside in April & checked tank to find that it was almost empty do to a faulty fill valve that was leaking. I rent the tank from Ferrellgas Windber Pa. What that have one truck, one driver for the area in southern Indiana. When you run out of gas there is no emergency refill service, or so I'm told. What if someone freezes to death. They don't care. Does the CEO of Ferrellgas care or even know what her company is doing. This seems to be a problem with a lot of corporations in America. It's all about the money. Screw the customer. I don't understand why they cannot deliver gas a few days after you order it. Maybe buy more trucks and hire more drivers.

My mom is elderly. I called and voiced this and the customer service online was very rude to me and said it’s my fault for waiting when I in fact tried to get it here sooner, I already paid and they took the funds and says it could be up to 10 days!! It’s 56 in the home and I’ve tried everything to try to keep the home warm. It’s not helping. I want to report them!

Then everything changed - call a new number, talk to someone in an out of state call center, explain my order multiple times before they got the information right, Call a different number to make a payment, go online to see if the payment is posted (sometimes taking more than a day before it shows up) then wait sometimes two weeks or more for delivery. Complain about service and was told to place order earlier- Automated system thinks I have more gas than I do and won't let me place an order... I have burned wood for days to keep the house from freezing... The percentage on the tank kept falling but they were not coming to fill so I had to call. The person I talked to said they would come within the next two to three days but a week went by and nobody came. I called again and they said they let the tank go down to 10 percent before they consider it urgent. They finally did come before it got that far.

I called and asked if they can do an emergency fill. They said no. I asked if I can hook up a 100lb tank just to get her a couple of days, they said they can not advise us to do so but if I do so, My mom would have to wait even longer for a tech crew to come out and repressure check her house. So that would have to be done first then within another week or so they would come fill the propane. Also they said if my mom were on auto refill and not "will call" she wouldn't have this issue. That does make some sense but the way they prioritize customers over one another is horrible. The rep also said next time order at 40% last time we did that for my mom they chewed us out for ordering to "early". Not to mention it took well over 20 minutes just to get a rep on the line.

There were no notes in their system today when we called today to ask where the delivery was.

Once again they are pushing our delivery back a few days as they say and I go into surgery tomorrow. We have asked to speak to a supervisor multiple times. They claim the only way to get a hold of one is by email and we have to wait for a callback. We never receive any calls back. This has been one of the worst months of my time here in Alabama with how cold it has been and we are suffering due to this company. This company is TERRIBLE. I’ve had multiple occasions where my home is freezing cold because this company doesn’t send anyone out on time. Not only that, they are liars! I had called my landlord about running low on propane a couple days before Thanksgiving. My landlord was upset because she had requested 2 weeks prior to have it filled 2-3 days before Thanksgiving… well, thanksgiving comes around, no heat. I call my landlord the following business day and she informed me that this company had contacted her about the fact that they already come out and filled our tank (and others) which was NOT TRUE. They also told my landlord they didn't come out because it was around the holidays. My landlord called again and told me they should be out in the next 2-3 days. Well, they came on the 4th day. About a month goes by… everything was fine, I thought. January 5th , I see that the propane is at about 35% so I informed my landlord.

My landlord had already requested for a fill for us, but was even grateful that I had called. Well… it’s January 15th now. Well, since the house is freezing, my gf and I didn’t wash the 2 plates we used to eat the past night. I did rinse the plates off though so they wouldn’t be hard to wash in the morning. I go to wash them after I wake up and the plates are covered in ice. I immediately started to worry about my pet snake which does have all the necessary essentials for warmth as well, however I still worried, but she’s doing fine.

We can’t leave our room without our feet freezing, seeing our breath as we exhale, and shivering when trying to make breakfast. I can see how one would say most of that is a bit of a personal problem. However, why am I paying for a service I’m not receiving? My personal problems aren’t so personal when the fact that I have them stems from the fact that the place I'm renting from happened to seek service from whatever joke this company makes themselves out to be.

I've been a customer of Ferrell Gas for over three years and just had one of the worst customer experiences in some time. I called to schedule a refill, and while they said it would be delivered in a week, I ran out of gas after two days (my fault). Three days later, I called to check the status, only to find out I wasn’t even on the schedule. I politely waited, and the following Monday, they promised delivery that day. The driver did come, but instead of turning on the gas, they filled it and shut it off, falsely marking that no one was home to light the pilot light. This was untrue, as I was home all day and watched the Ferrell Gas truck leave my property.

When I couldn't get any gas to flow, I tried to call Ferrell Gas, but they were closed. It took me two hours to figure out the gas had been shut off and figure out how to light the pilot myself. When I called to report that this happened, the company was dismissive, saying they would log an “incident” and that someone would call me back. No one did.

This level of poor communication and well, right out lying is unacceptable. I’ve since switched to another gas provider and cannot recommend Ferrell Gas. The new provider, Suburban Propane, will be here within 24 hours if we are ever out again and charge nothing for this service. Ferrell Gas will not do this, even for a surcharge. Suburban Propane also charge less for the gas. Ferrell Gas, do better.

Updated on 01/07/2025: Update 01/07. More multiple calls placed yesterday and today. My wife demanded to speak with a manager/supervisor. We were told yesterday they would call back in a half hour. No calls ever received. We called again in the afternoon and no one has called us back. The customer service lady just keeps saying we're doing all we can. Today she said, "I see you are scheduled for a delivery on the 9th." That is two days from now.

Last night it was 9 degrees (-2 with windchill). I woke up to a 45 degree house. Kept at that temperature only by 3 electric heaters that cannot keep up with the freezing temperatures we are getting. The lack of concern or urgency by this company to get propane to our house to keep us from freezing is inconceivable! Guess what it only took a few hours for them to pull out the money from our bank to pre-pay for the propane. That seems to have been the only thing that was urgent for them in this whole transaction.

Original Review: We have been FerrellGas customers in Central NY for 7 years. Up until this last order we have not had too many complaints. We have ordered and had our delivery in less than 5 days. However, that all changed with this last order. We placed an order on December 17th and have been waiting for propane since. It is now January 6th, 2025. I called on the 3rd of January to let them know that we were now out of propane and was told that they tried to deliver on the 21st of December the day of a snowstorm and could not deliver because our driveway was not clear. I have multiple cameras that capture 360 degrees around our house and checked the three that capture the roadway in front of our house from December 17th through January 3rd. There was no evidence that their truck ever pulled up to our property.

Also the 21st was a Saturday when they don't typically work, so we are having a hard time believing that they attempted to deliver. My wife drives a small Mazda car and was in and out of our driveway multiple times over that weekend with no problem. We probably had less than 4 inches of snow in total and our driveway is reasonably flat. Having driven a dump truck with tandem trailers behind it in Utah, in similar climate and weather conditions, I don't believe a large truck would have had any trouble.

Also, in the past, on several occasions, they have not even pulled into our driveway they parked on the side of the road and took the shortest route to the tank to fill. After two calls on the 3rd of January, two other customer support forms completed online, and two additional calls today, we have had customer support people who have basically said there wasn't much they can do for us, but see we have a delivery scheduled for between Friday, the 3rd and the 15th of January. This is because they canceled our first order apparently after the one alleged attempt to deliver and Friday when I spoke to them, and they created a new order on that day.

For the past four days we have been stuck in a house that is hovering between 48-50 degrees, only because we have a few electric heaters running, and occasionally turning on our oven with the door open, that won't keep up with the single digit to weather in the teens outside. On top of all of this two days after they supposedly showed up the weather was 53 degrees and the snow had all been melted by that afternoon by rain. They require I provide my email and phone number when I order the propane, but for what reason I don't know.

I was never notified of an attempt to deliver, to schedule a follow-up delivery, etc. No note was left on our door or our mailbox, nothing. I'm not sure if they could have done any less to try to get us a delivery. So here we sit freezing in our home at the mercy of a company that quite simply could not care less. Bad form FerrellGas. We always thought you were doing a good job, but now see why there is a one-star rating from most people who have reviewed this company. Many have said they only gave one star as that is their only option. Many, it seems would have preferred to give negative stars.

Now me and my family are without heat and hot water in the middle of winter. I called them to get my propane and they not only hung up on me 3 times but basically told me I should have called when I was at 40% and said that there was nothing they could do.

I asked to speak to a manager but that’s impossible. I asked to speak to our local Ferrellgas but also impossible because they only use this call center. So now me and my family are without heat or hot water and it’s 20 degrees out and snowing! To make matters worse, rescheduling notifications often arrive after 9:00 PM, promising delivery within three business days—yet the delivery never happens. When reaching back out to the company for answers, it only results in further delays and no real resolution. This is not the level of service one should expect from a company that customers depend on for such an essential resource.

I want to acknowledge that the office employees and customer service representatives are kind and try to be as helpful as they can within their constraints. Unfortunately, the routing and logistics of delivery are such a significant issue that their efforts are overshadowed by the company’s systemic problems. Not only that they don’t put a gauge on the 100lb tank and so now not only am I completely out of propane I can’t cook for Thanksgiving because I have no propane and they won’t deliver until December 3rd. Not even trying to help other than offering me an expedited delivery for an extra 150 dollars. Outrageous. If I wouldn’t have just paid for a fuel reliever that I originally put in on Friday 11/22 and the fact I just paid for a tank rental I would switch this minute. Terrible people. All together terrible experience.

The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Just finished four months of horrible response. Was living with a “red-tagged” propane tank for 3 months. They told me to call when level got down to 10% and they would come right away. Called twice when level was at 15%. No response. They never call back. Ran out of propane and fried my tankless water heater. Switched propane companies and had a new water heater installed to the tune of $5k. Do not use this company. By the way, called 10 days ago for them to come and pick up their tank. Was told that picking up tanks is not their priority. Thank goodness for Suburban Propane!

Horrific customer support .. They must have so many problems they can't return calls. I'm left three separate messages for callbacks and never received them. Waited on hold for over an hour to find out that they know Doc. virtually anything other than outbound calls in their customer support system. This company is a racket where they provide loss leader pricing to get you hooked then double the price on the gas a year later. They were charging me $7.50 a gallon and local outfit. More reputable was charging 325 a gallon.

The racket they have is they try to lease you the tank and when it is least you have to use them to fill the tanks twice or more the prevailing rate. This should be fraud but people don't look at their bills after a year and continue paying it. I now have quantity four 120 gallon tanks and they were going to charge me an extra $1500 above competitive rates to fill the tanks. What a rip off. They say all the right things in their recordings but customer service on a scale of one to 10 is a one.

Have used Ferrelgas for close to 30 years. Finally got a whole house generator and was going to get a separate tank to hook up to. Long story short I finally contacted Ferrelgas to just hook the generator up to my currently leased 250 gallon tank. Couldn’t get that done so wound up purchasing a 1,000 gallon tank to run house and generator. Contacted Ferrelgas to come and get their tank and found out it is probably going to cost me money for them to pick up their own propane tank. Since it has approximately 60% gas in it they are going to charge me a $200 pickup fee along with a pumping fee and I think possibly another fee. After they charge me all these fees I will finally get credit for the propane in the tank. I’m not sure if I am going to get credit for the remaining tank rental. You would think that if they have to pump the tank before they move it. They could just pump it into my new tank and get their tank out of my yard.

We have had this propane service and same tank since 2016 and the couple we bought the house from had it for many years prior. We fill it once a year at $550 +/-. We’ve paid $12 a YEAR for tank lease since 2016. This year, with no warning and no notification at all, the tank lease went up to $160 a YEAR. That’s $13 and change PER MONTH. I’ve spoken to 2 representatives, one said it was due to the rise in the cost of steel. What that has to do with our tank that we’ve had the last 8+ years - I don’t know. The other said it was because we only fill up once a year. How can they charge me more for tank lease just because I only fill it once a year. If I had any notification of this ridiculous price hike, we would be have an electric stove and water heater installed. I do not recommend this company nor will I continue using them any longer than we have to.

For the amount that we have been paying, roughly 2k a month to heat our 4,000 sq. foot house, you would think giving them a three week notice for a refill when your tank is at 30% would give them enough time to drive the 3 miles from there business location and fill our tank. We were promised by the 19th it would be filled and then today I got an email from the company stating that it would be up to three more business days.

We are now down to 7% in our tank, and when I called customer service, she said there’s nothing she could do because they are busy and if I run out then to bust out some space heaters. The customer service is atrocious for a company that promises customer service first and gives instructions on calling once you are at 30% to prevent delays to make you worry about your house freezing with a baby inside is just deplorable. This is the Peru Indiana location. I understand it is cold, and other people need propane, but I do not feel I am being selfish for following their directions only to be constantly told it will be additional days When we live 3 miles away and gave them ample time to fill the tanks. I was house-sitting for my parents while my mom was two states over for medical appointments. We were hit with a huge storm followed by multiple days of below-zero weather. The propane ran out sooner than expected, and since my parents were out of town for longer than intended, they had not thought to check the propane tank prior to leaving. I tried to call for an emergency refill and sat on hold for the customer service line for 40 minutes before being sent to voicemail....despite it being the emergency line. Had to call through on the gas leak line just to speak to someone, and I got Sabrina. She told me that I'd have to pay $100 upfront, on the phone before she would schedule an emergency refill for two days later or else a refill couldn't be scheduled for 10 DAYS OUT. I didn't have $100 to pay upfront and she said there was no other option, even when I advised her of the EXTREMELY LOW temperatures and risk of pipes freezing.

No empathy, no attempt to look into other options, no attempt to de-escalate the situation. She said, word for word "It's not our fault you let the tank run out" to which I replied "It's not mine either, I'm just watching the home while they're away!" When I couldn't pay, she said they couldn't be there Thursday and the call was over. I relayed this to my mother, who is the name on the account. She called and got a different associate, who told her there was no need to pay upfront and that the $100 would just be added to the bill.

Clearly, they need better consistency and communication amongst their customer service team. Better training on empathy/de-escalation as well - I used to work customer service for a gas company and could never dream of treating someone this way in an emergency weather situation. I hope Sabrina receives better training. So, please keep this in mind if you are ever facing an emergency situation with this company and stand your ground or ask to speak to a supervisor if met with pushback from the initial associate. If this was my home, I'd be changing providers immediately.

Our propane tank was recently filled. The driver didn't print out a receipt/invoice and left our property before we could flag him down so we called customer service. As customers, we deserve to know how much propane was pumped and how much it cost. As propane customers, this had never happened to us before. She disparaged our concern and tried to brush us off by saying that the delivery driver was a new driver. When we told her our that our concern was indeed legitimate, she falsely claimed that we were yelling at her and hung up the phone.

Knowing that the phone calls to customer service were recorded, we called them back, informed them that the previous customer service agent's actions were unprofessional, and asked for an escalation to a supervisor to evaluate the call. We were told that we would be given a call back. It's been several days and that has yet to happen. We work way too hard for our money to be treated in such a disrespectful manner. We will be looking for a new propane company immediately. Besides, enough is enough. This was not Ferrellgas' first strike. This was their fourth strike.

Strike #1: When our local propane company was sold to Ferrellgas two years ago, they sent a tech to our rural property without notice. We came home to find a strange guy in an unmarked truck installing a wireless meter on our gas tank.

Strike #2: It is common practice among various vendors to start work on a customer's property after 8 AM. Unfortunately, some of these morons at Ferrellgas didn't get the memo. A driver started pumping propane at 7:30 AM blocking our driveway and preventing us and our sons from getting to work and school on time. As most of you know, when the drivers roll out the hose from their storage trucks and start pumping, the process can take roughly 15-20 minutes from start to finish.

Strike #3: Last winter, we were down to 15% propane left and scheduled a delivery via their website. After several days of no show, we finally called customer service. Over the course of the next several days, we were repeatedly told the same generic and lame story that their drivers were aware of the order and that they would come by as soon as possible. We were at less than 5% before a driver finally showed up.

This is a synopsis of our negative experiences with Ferrellgas. Our advice to you is to take your money elsewhere. Our previous, local propane company had excellent customer service. There were zero complications, zero problems. They treated us with respect and kindness which is the complete opposite of Ferrellgas.

I have never had a problem with them since I came to them 7 plus years ago until this year. All of the gas had leaked from my tank and I didn’t discover it until I tried to use my furnace last month. After a check it was determined it was my line going into the house. After some assurances on the cost of relocating the tank and running a new line the work was done. Later than I would have liked but I accepted it because the district manager Owen was nice enough to replace the tank of gas I lost even though they didn’t have to do this. I greatly appreciate that and his assurances that the labor for the tank relocate and line run wouldn’t exceed hour of labor even if it took the one tech longer.

The tech who did this was wonderful, great guy. His name is Jason and so appreciated him and told Owen this when he called me back the next week. This was because I didn’t receive gas at the time of the repair and it wasn’t scheduled properly. I did appreciate the second call from Owen explaining this and what happened and why. It was his efforts that kept me with the company after all that went wrong with this whole situation. I have never had a problem with them or any of the other propane companies we had in the 35 years till now. I realize I was a little upset by this problem but that could have been avoided with better communication.

The problem is when you call in about a problem the girls are nice and apologize for what’s going on but that doesn’t solve anything. They aren’t empowered or given the information to give to the customer to allay their fears. When you never had a problem like mine it was a leak in my line then you're unsure what to do. I know now I will not call them for service without checking to see if I will be charged and how much. They have added fees for everything since I signed with them and have never notified me of these policy and price changes. I think they are a good company. They did replace my gas as a curiosity, I’m on a fix income now, but the lack of communication causes problems.

I am staying with them because of what Owen did and their great service techs that came to my home. But I hope they use my situation as a learning tool to improve the communication between departments like the repair service and delivery departments. Hopefully customer service can advise customers when they call in for service and check on equipment there is a charge even though you rent the tank from them. I totally disagree with this but maybe I could leave a message for someone like Owen next time to see what could be done. I’m sorry if I went hard on the customer service girls but I have never done that before and it’s not me or my style and better communication would help avoid that. Thanks again Owen and Jason and to Emily the service manager and the customer service girls I spoke with. I am sorry for anything on my part. Hopefully things improve going forward.

Ferrellgas is charging us for the month of April when our tank was at 75%. We have called and filed a complaint and they have not addressed this. Our tank is running low right now and have asked them to come and fill it and they refused because there’s a bill due that they continue to lie about. It was confirmed with one of the reps that they had some issues with billing and they will correct it but nothing yet. I would not pick this company ever again.

He called to tell them about it, and they asked if he still wanted the delivery to the correct address - of course, he still needed gas! The bill was over $4K!!! He has been paying it down diligently since this happened back in February and now it's only a few hundred dollars. Now FG is calling threatening collections. He has been requesting a call from a supervisor for months and no one has called back. It is disappointing that seniors and disabled veterans are treated in such a way! Do better FG!!

Website is mostly one way, you can input information, however cannot receive much from their end, what is available is extremely sparse and incomplete. Regarding billing, sent me a postcard raising tank rent, however I rent 3 tanks... What tank, which location, which account... nothing but a big blue picture postcard with my address, new cost and of course their phone number (no internet or paper trail that way).

Now the fun part... I have to call them, which will likely lead to a review regarding having them remove their tank. This is the second to be removed out of an original 4 tanks. I'm sure they will try to charge me for removal even though I've been paying rent for years. Fortunately we have a loader and truck, maybe we'll deliver it back instead of them double dipping into our pockets.

The next day I received a email for my bill on the tank rental fees no part about the additional propane. I called and explained that it only has my tank rental fees and no additional propane on the itemized statement. I explained again that I was trying to get some financial aid and what I needed and why. They were really good about matching the competitors' rate but they no longer will help us out. We are for sure leaving and just want to make sure you shop around. Why waste your money for the same service and product. In this economy we don't need companies that are greedy and unwilling to help a customer who pays on time and loyal.

First experience with Ferrellgas, placed an order in September for the following week. The destination is a second home, I do not live there full time so I made a special trip to be there when the Propane was to be delivered. I called to get an eta and after spending 15 minutes listening to their propaganda, my call is finally answered. After asking my question, I find out I am not scheduled at all. I am then transferred to the person I placed the order with only to find out she never placed the order. She then tries to justify her mistake by saying it can be delivered the following week, like it's not a big deal.

This is after paying almost $800 when it was ordered. No other options, I'm just out of luck and have to deal with it. NO, I wanted my money back. Supposedly she processes a refund, but it'll take up to 7 days to receive my money. It is now 11 days and still nothing. I call again, wait 15 minutes again just to talk to someone who has no answers or solutions, she just emailed someone else. I won't even receive a call, I just have to wait. I regret ever doing business with ferrellgas, they don't care about customers, no matter what propaganda they spew on their "hold" recording. So, here I wait...

DO NOT BECOME A FERRELL GAS CUSTOMER!!!! Ice storm hits in SW Michigan Wednesday 2/23 and we lose power. Generator starts on propane and 500-gal tank at 20%. Order propane on Ferrell's website on Thursday, 2/24 as tank is dropping and power won't be restored until week of 2/27. Contact Ferrell Gas on Friday, 2/25 to request expedited delivery as I'll be out of propane (and subsequently home heat, all water, and septic - and won't be able to keep all the animals and livestock we have well cared for). Told delivery will be by 3/9 and if I pay a $100 expedite fee they can deliver by 2/28 (even that is days late).

Wow - now I have no electricity, heat, water, septic and will stay that way for days. By the way, Ferrell gas truck drove right by our house Friday, 2/25 but didn't make a delivery!. Fast forward to Thursday, 3/2.... we have electricity but no propane... so no cooking, no hot water, and no back-up generator for the storm coming in tomorrow. When I called Ferrell Gas today to ask for an update all I heard was for $100 they could deliver by next Tuesday, 3/7. And by the way, they're charging $0.70 to $0.80/gallon more than two other providers, Disgusting in every way!

As a Will Call customer we understand our responsibility to watch our tank. When our tank reached a low point, we were offered a 2 day fill rate of $100.00, or a 24 hour fill rate of 200.00. After reaching out to logistics, Will in Customer Service called the logistics fellow whom refused to deliver on the $100.00, 2 day fill, BUT we could get propane on Monday for the low cost of $150.00 extra. So, I paid the $150.00, and went to work. While scrolling their website I can see a very proudly displayed advertisement for a veteran's discount. We were never offered a discount, not in 13 years of service and Will wouldn't accept the discount NOR make a Tuesday delivery happen.

This is after 13 years of service with the same rotten tank that leaked and we were required to pay to refill, even though there were NO service records and I STILL have the corroded pigtail from the same tank that is still in my yard. So, we paid and we paid and we paid for for nearly four more years. After calling back this afternoon Arielle, in her sugary sweet voice, offered to "rectify" the situation. Rectifying to Ferrellgas means that they give you the advertised discount, give you your original delivery day for $100.00 and tell you to have a nice day. There is no customer service, just smoke and mirrors to make customers feel like they matter. If customers really mattered, something would have been done other than take my time, my money, and talk to me like I am an idiot.

Maybe I am, after all we stayed for poor treatment for 13 years. They can fill it this time, in the dead of winter, on a Friday for a Tuesday delivery and NEVER again. I will have an actual local company come and place a much safer tank in my yard, for less money and lower propane rates to boot. Ferrellgas is a bait and switch company with complete disregard for their customers needs, and concerns. Big business just wants dollars and will do and say whatever is slightly legal to get more money from the working class people.

On December 20th, 2022, while considering my options for the pending cold snap, I called Ferrellgas to inquire about 100 gallons of gas and the delivery window. I found I could afford it and the window I was given ended December 28th which made it a reasonable option and I decided to go this way. I put my money in the bank and called them back and ordered my gas. I was never given a confirmation so I called back to confirm and was again told my delivery window ended December 28th. This information in fact is still listed as my delivery date on the website.

I called back to inquire after the 28th if there was any idea when my gas was coming and if there was anything I needed to do safety-wise with my pilot lights if my gas ran completely out because they did not deliver by the weekend. I was told by a customer service agent that I was stupid for not ordering earlier. Let me be clear that 16% of my 300 gallon tank would have lasted me at least two months had I not decided to use my central heat because of the information I was given by Ferrellgas to heat my home during the cold snap. I would still have hot water and use of my stove and oven today.

Yesterday the website said my order was out for delivery and was due to be delivered at 12:42 p.m. At 3:00 I called back to ask about this because it had not shown up and I was assured it was definitely on the truck and coming “today” (Jan 3). Today January 4th, 2023 the website no longer says out for delivery. I was told by a customer service agent that my gas was never out for delivery. However I have a picture of the web page that says it was as well as a recorded phone call with the agent I spoke to on the evening of January 3rd when it was supposedly out for delivery. The agent I spoke with today, January 4th 2023, told me she would forward this information to the delivery people and that they would call me back. I am not going to hold my breath on that.

I would however like to know what happened to my gas that was supposedly loaded on a truck. Again, let me be clear I had several other options to heat my home during the Cold Snap and had I been informed more correctly. I would have chosen a different way and would still have use of hot water and my stove today and for many weeks to come. If at any point in the process the delivery date was amended to reflect a delay, there were things I could have done differently - even at that point - to attempt to make it last longer. Furthermore, I did allow for the estimate to be a few days short - but not over a week.

I am suspicious at this point that there is no process in reaching the estimate. While most of the customer service agents have been very polite I'm very convinced at this point that I am just being being given a polite running around. I also know that there are a lot of people in this situation who are far less able to handle it than I am and this could be life or death for them. This is ridiculous. Based on reviews, etc. That I am seeing all over the internet, this is common practice for this company.

Was told by a Cheryl that it will be two weeks to completion of full propane install and phone call from inspector same day to co-ordinate visit. Day 2: No phone call arrived. Called back FerrellGas to be told by an Amanda that the inspection request was completed incorrectly and that I would receive a call from site inspector same day. Day 3: No phone call arrived. Called back Ferrellgas and was told a Kristi that my inspection was mishandled again. I was now in a two week wait queue just to get an inspection. I requested a refund. Was told refunds take 6-8 weeks to process the refund. I asked to speak with the manager. Was told I would get a call back from the manager named Tina. No phone call received.

The customer service for this company is shameful! It really does not exist. My old propane tank was corroding and leaking, so I got an estimate from Ferrell Gas to replace the tank. IN the meantime, they installed a temporary above-ground tank. Josh, the salesman, quoted a price to install a buried tank ($500) and a separate line on the estimate for a price to install an above-ground tank ($200). They required a 60% down payment to accept the proposal. I sent them a check for 60% of the cost to buy and install a buried tank and I included a letter requesting the buried tank. A few days later their crew showed up unannounced and installed an above-ground tank! I was not there at the time. I called Ferrell Gas multiple times to get this resolved. I was told multiple times by the receptionists that “I’ll have someone call you right away.” Only one person ever called back and he did not get anything done.

I told them multiple times that I needed the buried tank work done May 4-6. I started telling them these dates the first week in April. But here it is the second week in May, and I still do not have a buried propane tank! No explanations. No communication. No service! The salesman was bad, because he wrote the proposal in such a way that it was confusing to the installers. The installers were bad because they never contacted me with any question about whether this was to be an above-ground or below ground tank. If they had looked at my letter or at the down payment amount, they would have seen it was for the buried tank.

The “Customer Service” department is bad because they never call back. The phone answering system is bad because you can never get to talk with anyone who makes decisions or who has authority to do anything. Maybe someone will see this bad review and get my tank buried! Oh, and they might be considerate enough to call me.

Had Ferrellgas at my business. They let us run out of gas on 2 occasions which cost us several thousands in business losses. They also jacked the price up to over $4 a gallon because they said we went over our usage - we had a locked in price and was not aware of any limit to how much gas we used. They did not notify us or ever show usage and fill amounts on the bills. They are very unreliable and untrustworthy company. They don’t come when they say they will and they price gouge in every way.

In November 2021 we decided to put 300 gallons of propane in our tank. The lines for the propane were run up to the house but not connected to it yet. The delivery man asked and I showed him where the line was capped off. He tested for leaks. Put the propane in the tank. We thought we were ok and that the propane would be there when we needed it. We never used any of it but one day in February a friend said I smell gas. I called and they sent someone out. I was not informed that I would be charged a fee much less one in excess of 300 dollars!

The man said the tank is empty. 675 dollars of propane just gone! He did not have any way to test it for leaks and decided to condemn the tank. I was told by another propane company that filling a tank that is not connected to the house automatically puts them at fault, which I did not know beforehand, but I think the man did not shut the valve properly. I had paid for all but about 200 of the propane. I am probably going to have to take this case to court. Over 1000 dollars and nothing to show for it except anxiety. I am not a happy customer.

She called Ferrell immediately and was told she would get a delivery in a couple of days. They never delivered. She called back and was told they would deliver by February 21st. After numerous calls and contacting the corporate office they notified her they would deliver today February 16th. 7 days after initial call for a delivery that she would pay for. Today, they finally showed up to fill the tanks and left without filling them or telling her why. My daughter immediately called Ferrell and was told there was some animal waste in her yard and they wouldn’t come back.

I called and told Ferrel the waste would be removed, please come back and was told the driver had left the area and couldn’t. This was 5-10 minutes from the time he left and he didn’t have the decency to tell her he was leaving in the first place. To begin with a week without heat and they won’t do an emergency delivery in February. Then to leave without even talking to her. I called again and was told it wasn’t cold out, they will come back tomorrow. It was 27 degrees this morning. It did reach 50 today. I don’t know, is a 50 degree house warm. It’s been below freezing for the past week until today. Ferrel was told that my daughter is pregnant and was sick. The only thing they could say was she should have ordered earlier. The gauge on the tank read 100%, she was told that sometimes they stick and you should hit the gauge to be sure. I have never dealt with such uncaring individuals at a nationwide company. Friday (01/28/22) I noticed my home was cold. Upon further investigation I had run out of propane. Over the duration of 3 days I contacted the company 5 times which had included the “Emergency Line” clearly in which is non-emergency as I received no communication back. I called Monday to see why I have had no communication from the company in regards to my concern. I was informed there was a payment mishap which kicked me out of my auto fill/payment. However, there was no further payment owed to this company.

My concerned mother took it upon herself to contact them today (3 children under the age of 3 at my home without efficient heat). During her conversation she offered payment for an emergency delivery etc. The customer service agent sought approval from the location manager (New Carlisle) in which he said “he was not going to inconvenience a customer who called at a tank level of 30/40% for someone who didn’t”. The customer service agent then informed us “contacting another company to get another tank would most likely be more expedient”. A customer who has no experience with propane usage, was set up on auto pay/fill, has already paid this company $1,000+ with $0 owed is being “punished”? This not only hinders me but 3 small children, my wife and 2 pets with the upcoming inclement weather. It is now (02/01/22) and was told the delivery date would happen between now and February 14th. I am absolutely speechless!!!!

In December my electricity was out due to damages from the Derecho, once my electricity was restored my furnace was not working. Knowing I was on auto fill, I did not check the propane. After having a heating and cooling guy come out, he tells me that I’m out of propane. I called them and told them they needed to be there ASAP, as this was their error. It was a day before they came out to fill it, at which time they shut off the line and said there was a leak. The next day I met them out there, and they said they couldn’t find any leaks so they filled the propane tank up. Two weeks later my furnace was not lighting again, and I went out to check the propane and I was already out. I told them I was not paying for this fill as there was no way I went through a tank that quick (last five years I’ve only had to fill once a year), they checked it for leaks again and filled it.

Trying to be proactive, I went out last night to check my tank and was already down to 45%, and overnight was down to 35% today. I called them, they said the service tech was out there and there was no leak and I had poor insulation (no one ever came out to my house). I told him I could hear it making a sound like air leaking out of a tire and could smell a bitter smell. He informed me that the sound was the regulator and he didn’t know what I was smelling cause the tech didn’t smell anything. I have never heard my tank nor any other propane tank make this sound before.

Then we started calling different company. They told us price is 2.09 to 2.19 per gallon, so we want to give chance to Ferrellgas can correct it. Well! Where do we start! #FERRELL GAS? You can call Ferrell gas, Orlando FL - with a safety concern (suspected gas leak) & empty gas tank. But none of these matter... They don't care, it doesn't matter, it doesn't affect you right..?! We bought the property we now own in July 2021. It had just about 50% volume in the tank, so the blown gauge read. Planning for increased usage over the Christmas period made a request for a full refill in early November 2021. I also raised concerns about the condition of the tank, pressure gauge and the fact I could intermittently smell gas coming from the tank and I believed the gauge was misreading. I was instructed by Ferrell gas to isolate the system and wait for a technician to inspect and replace the pressure gauge (early November 2021). Naturally that never happened - despite them 'claiming' someone came out????

Taking into consideration my cameras didn't pick up any motion or any signs of anyone visiting to inspect when they claim a technician was sent and that they came and I wasn't home (a little secret - I WORK FROM HOME, FULLTIME) despite being told they came when I wasn't at home! Furthermore, neither was the pressure gauge exchanged as I requested. Serves further credence that they didn't come right? Bottom line: That technician never came, and we are now in mid-January of 2022. Neither did I receive a call, report, or confirmation from Ferrell gas that I could de-isolate my system that purely services my cooker/oven in my main house kitchen and continue to use from the technician they 'claim' they sent (December 07th 2021)...?

About 6 chaser phone calls on status and updates at this point and NOTHING has materialized. I did however receive a phone call. One of their delivery drivers who stated he was just that and not a technician and all he was sent to do was 'isolate the system' and a technician would follow, having spoken to him on the phone where he was extremely helpful and understanding he said he would follow up with his office and facilitate the technical review of my system. Whether he did or did not is irrelevant - but this delivery driver (J****) was the only person who showed any interest in resolving our issue. December 06th 2021.

A few days before Christmas of 2021 with a blown gauge that claims to read 9G, and with no site of an inspection, inspection report, phone call or any form of confirmation that we can de-isolate the system to use our gas stove for Christmas day and no sign of a gas refill or top up, despite a request for $50 of gas to get us through the holiday until I could get a new gas company in - NOTHING! Guess what happens? Christmas morning breakfast 10 adults, 6 children. GAS RUNS OUT...! Christmas day breakfast and dinner was cooked between our electric garage apartment oven and stove and our Calor gas outdoor Weber grill. NOT WHAT WE HAD PLANNED and destroyed Christmas for 2021. THANKS, FERRELL GAS. :-)

I call Ferrell gas at this point on December 25th, leaving a voicemail, stating that I want them to collect their tank and get their ** out of here! December 27th I receive a call and voicemail from an agent confirming collection - which I didn't answer or respond to! December 28th - (D***) calls and explains how he could come and refill or take. I instructed that he just take it... January 02nd 2022 I get a bill from Ferrell gas for (collection fees, labor, and a surcharge fee). It has taken 5 more phone calls and escalation to Regional/District Management to overturn the charges for what? P.S. the most effective part of Ferrell gas's process was collecting the tank and billing me for the privilege, rather than being interested in filling our tank and maintaining our business. WHAT A JOKE!

Prior to Regional/District Management escalation - I had a call with (B******) Local Office Management Orlando, FL. Which facilitated my call to upper management!
    1. I was informed from a local level, that I am only a 'will call customer' (which means I call when I need gas, but not a valued customer clearly!).
    2. I should also have been charged an additional $340+ and some change for a 'false gas leak call out' that never materialized. I would have welcomed this bill/charge...
    3. No sign of an apology, acceptance of failure on her team's part, ownership or sympathy. It was an argument and confrontational call where 'I was in wrong' and 'I could have done better'. Does this sound right to you?

    3. Naturally you explain the series of events to Regional/District Management and then ask them 'how would you feel if you were in my position?' and immediately receive an apology and admit the shortcomings of their company and take ownership for an issue that they did not cause, neither were they any part of! (G****) showed customer satisfaction was his priority, listened, sympathized and took ownership. Great job (G****)!!! And thank you again!

BOTTOM LINE! Despite Company Directors attempts to recover our business. STAY AWAY FROM FERRELL GAS! DO NOT USE THEM! DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE! I RECOMMEND: LOVELACE GAS SERVICES INC. for Orlando, FL and the greater Florida area! Within 1 hour for Ferrell gas's tank being removed LOVELACE came and installed a brand-new tank, levelled it, filled it and performed a safety check, then took the time to ask if we had any questions or concerns. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

I have done business with Ferrellgas for over 20 years and have never been so disappointed in their customer service. I have always been somewhat disappointed with not being able to talk to someone local but now the attempt to resolve a simple issue has brought me to this point. On December 4, planning for a trip to our Colorado home for Christmas, I checked the tank level online. It had dropped below 40%. Had Ferrellgas been monitoring, as contractually agreed, they would have initiated the “stay full” (also contractually agreed upon) refill. After seeing this and my initiation to refill on December 4, 2021, today the tank is at 18% and my requests have fallen on deaf ears. They have not fulfilled their contractual obligations. It has become apparent that they do NOT monitor my tank and refill accordingly.

Customer service has no ability to resolve problems and only offer empty promises, so, you hang up thinking something is actually being taken care of, but it’s not. It’s taken 2 days, multiple phone calls and emails to many Ferrellgas employees (climbing the management ladder) to actually hear from anyone. Even at this point, with temps in the 20s and snow accumulating, the original request on December 4, has not been fulfilled. My online account has shown promised delivery dates of 12/13, 12/23, 12/28 and now 1/3/22. In one conversation, I was even told they attempted a delivery but could not access the tank. This is not true, as there were people working at my house on that day and reported they saw no one attempt to deliver.

Today, they now tell me they cannot deliver because THE driver (poor planning and business model) is out with COVID. This leaves me wondering if this is true or just another excuse. Nonetheless, this employment practice is of poor judgement. Had this been addressed over 3+ weeks ago, through their own contractual responsibilities, none of this would have been an issue. I will be looking for other local options and changing service providers as soon as possible and encourage others to use a different company - one that respects and appreciates their customers by fulfilling their obligations and responsibilities. I am truly disappointed and discouraged by their disregard of their customers’ concerns, needs, and not to mention, their health and safety.

So I woke up this morning to Ferrell gas taking my tank, They came and took it without a pick up order. The rude driver Jim said it was because I didn't order fuel all last year and I was using a 100lb cylinder because we were unemployed due to COVID and could not afford to pay 4-500.00 up front for a fill,, this company doesn't offer partial fills only a complete fill with no compassion for its customers at all. Anyway Jim tried to take my regulator off my house which was mine not theirs. It was on my home when they installed the tank. He then argued with me about it and began telling me that the regulator was installed in 2011 and it had to be theirs so he took it off...

Here is the kicker. I didn't get their tank set up until 2012 so now I have to argue with this company to come back out and put my property back on my home. I would never ever recommend this company to anyone...Their driver was the rudest person I have ever had to deal with..so I called the office and they didn't even have an order for pick up of my tank.. NO RECORD OF AN ORDER AT ALL FOR TANK PICK UP. All the while I was paying monthly rental of this tank.

I paid the $765.69 and received a confirmation number with a different account number. I then received another text stating that my tank will be delivered March 22. I received a receipt for $143.56 on March 22 for 75 gallons. I then received a receipt for $148.74 on March 24 for 77.7 gallons.

I called several times to find out when the tank can be filled to cover the $765.00 that I paid for in advance. I received several conflicting reports from customer services stating that my gauge was not working, and then someone said that there is no record of that, and then another person said that they see it in the report. My landlord switched the account into her name and I received no notice of this and then was told that I would end up owing money if I were to have the tank removed. I again, explained that I never got the entire fill and that my gauge is still at 20% from when it was first set. I was told that no one at the corporate level can help me and basically I'm SOL.

If you also read YELP reviews regarding Ferrellgas, you'll see they are all consistent with the level of service to be expected -- which is clearly abysmal. In the past with Sharp Propane, a customer dealt with a local service center that could/would communicate directly with dispatchers and drivers. As such, both a day and ETA window could be determined -- and they were accurate. This is no longer the case since Ferrellgas has taken over complete management of the system. Now, customer service is simply a telephone rep in some other part of the country, that does nothing more than phone answering, and then communicates a fill order to "logistics", who will then communicate a delivery to the driver.

Being well below the fill redline in my tank, I made several calls to "customer service", requesting a fill ASAP, and was told each time they would advise logistics that the fill needed to be expedited, based on my tank being well below the redline percentage for a requisite fill. Logistics then supposedly communicates with the drivers; however, none of the communications past the customer rep ever gets to the customer. I.e., you have no idea what transpired in the communications between the customer rep, logistics, and driver, and therefore will never have any idea when a delivery will actually be made -- until the time comes.

If you are leasing a tank from them, you are unable to use another provider, so you must receive your propane only from them, which probably explains why Ferrellgas customer service is at such a low priority. However, if you own your own tank, by all means you should absolutely look for any other provider, since you could clearly not do worse.

Ten minutes after they arrive to do a story, Ferrellgas will show up like a knight on a white horse. Of course, 2 weeks late and the price is too high. Updated on 02/17/2021: Ferrellgas Co. failed to deliver 80 gallons of propane, as promised. So I order the gas from another company, since I own my own tank. Since I had to pay upfront via my credit card, I asked the company to take the charge off my credit card, which they promised to do. But instead of doing so, they sent me a credit notice, informing me that they will apply the money toward my next purchase, instead giving me a refund, as I requested. Since I have no desire to ever order propane gas from that company again, I want my money back, not a credit. I now have to contact my credit card company to cancel the charge, but that make take up to 60 days, while Ferrell Gas is keeping my money free of charge. What a bunch of losers Ferrellgas is.

Original: On 1/29/21 I ordered a propane delivery of 80 gallons. I had to pre-pay with my credit card. I received a call, saying it would be delivered on 1/29/21. Nobody showed up. So I called and left my number, since it was an answerphone. Nobody called me back. I called again and was out on hold for 2 1/4 hours before a life person answered my call. They could not explain, why the propane was not delivered and said, it might have been the fault of dispatch. They promised to contact dispatch and let me know, what transpired. I waited for a call, it never came.

I finally got exasperated and decided to get the propane from another company. In order to get my credit card credited with the amount that they already deducted
I had to call Ferrell again, and in order to get a live person, I had to wait another 2 hours on the phone before a live person answered. When I asked, to take the charge off my credit card, she said, he can't do it right away, I had to it till their accounting department approves the refund, which might take 3 - 4 working days.

She promised to call me back right away and let me know, on what day I can expect the refund. Of course, I never got a call back. It seems, getting a refund from them is worse than pulling a tooth. This company is a nightmare to deal with. I wish they go bankrupt.

We are without propane for the third time in a year despite being on their "keep full service." Apparently we had a balance that we were unaware of, so they decided to take us off the keep full service without notification. No email. No phone call. No letter. They "didn't have" our contact info. Apparently they didn't have our address despite delivering propane to this address, where their tank is located, for many years.

The balance was paid today as soon as we found out what the issue was. The "boss" (I will find out this **'s name and post later) told the delivery person he is not allowed to refill our tank today. The delivery person suggested that we switch companies, which I plan on doing. I am physician, not a deadbeat who doesn't pay bills. I was unaware of the balance, and was not contacted. If this ** company had direct debit like every other utility company this never would have happened. Additionally I'm pretty sure it's illegal to disconnect utilities during COVID for non payment, and it's just a ** thing to do during the holidays when it's 30 degrees outside. I will also be reporting this to the better business bureau.

Another update: The **'s name is Alphonso. He called (after these reviews were placed, and I contacted the corporate office,l and the BBB) and did NOT apologize. He instead doubled down on the ** customer service. He reports that he "mailed invoices" and "has receipts." A receipt does not prove that you mailed an invoice, it proves that you generated a receipt. Clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed. He never once asked what he could do to make things right. He tried to "educate" my husband on how to be a grown up. I find it shocking that this person has been in this position for 32 years.

He should be a GD expert at customer service with that amount of experience. It is frankly quite pathetic that this is the best you can do Ferrellgas. He had the balls to say he didn't appreciate being called a **, and requested that the reviews be removed. Let me educate you Alphonso - opinions are protected speech, and you did absolutely nothing today to change my opinion, but rather reinforced it. When you're wrong you're wrong. I'm still waiting for an apology. Furthermore the tank has still not been refilled.

Updated on 9067280: This is my second review and nothing has improved. Every 3-4 weeks, I go through tons of stress, phone calls, being on hold over an hour and still no results, dropped calls, no call backs even though promised, canceled orders but no notice by phone or email, no show of delivery driver. 3 months of this so far and every month it is the same. I order online, am given a delivery date, and then nothing happens! Takes many frustrating phone calls and hours on the phone to finally get a delivery. Very stressful. It's winter and cold, and I've came very close to running out. I had to threaten to sue if I have to stay in a motel and my landlord's pipes freeze! THEN I got a delivery! And another driver came 2 days later! But now it's back to the same. Placed an order, given a date, no show!

Now it's a Holiday weekend! I was on the phone forever, 3x, 3 different numbers & people...no results. Still don't know if/when they are coming. Single digit temps! One lady got very smart with me, "There's no way you have used over half a tank since Dec 7." She just kept saying "no". It's a 250 gallon tank. Found myself justifying my use but also explaining how frugal I try to be. Like right now I am very cold, wrapped in a robe & blankets, I have wet laundry hanging all over the house so I don't use up my propane on the dryer, wash everything in cold water, & turn the shower off while bathing...all so that I don't run out of propane since they don't show up. I shouldn't have to explain or justify my use or promise I'm not lying about the tank level...after all, we haven't completely been forced into socialism yet! I can't order from a reputable local company because my landlord rents the tank, so I am at their mercy!

Landlord had started having trouble getting orders filled this year. I have excellent credit and pay my bill as soon as it is ready online. I've been very patient and tried to be professional but I'm so stressed over it, that I don't care about that anymore. Although, it's rare you actually get to talk to a person, you just sit on hold. My making threats is what got my order filled last time! That and I happened to know the full name of one cust serv person, and I knew that employees' emails were their name @ferrellgas.com. So I sent an email and I immediately got a phone call! My phone calls did not do any good and neither did the emails that you can send on their website. I never received a response and I never receive a callback when I pick that option.

I'm at my wit's end because now it's time to fill again and I can't get a delivery. Should be easy, just click on the request a delivery in your online acct! I did that each time, and they either wouldn't show on the delivery date, or they would just flat out cancel the order, without telling me! Now I'm stressed again wondering if I will have to move out, in the middle of winter, in an area where there is no available or affordable housing. And my landlord will have to drive several hundred miles, to crawl under the house in the cold & dark, to shut the water down. All because Ferrellgas has such poor customer service...office and delivery.

Original Review: Very poor customer service, hours spent on hold, no call backs as promised, phone calls for a month to get a delivery. Now it's the same issue! Been trying for 3 weeks, promised every week but no delivery! Down to 25% on a small tank, winter, single digit temps! Never had this issue until suddenly the past few months. Try ordering online, no one shows up on the dates, spend hours on the phone again! No emails or phone calls to tell you the driver won't be coming. It's a small area and it was always simple before. Not now!

The landlord rents the tank so I can't just order from a reliable local company. I will have to move out and her pipes will freeze without heat! Both of us have talked to "20" different people and we are just being led in circles and still no propane! How hard can it be to deliver to a tank you've always delivered to?! I will not use them at my summer cabin because of this very poor customer service! And it's dangerous now because it is freezing winter!! Their online ordering doesn't work any better than the phone calls where you might be on hold over an hour! Then they drop the call and NEVER call you back.

They had to come out and fix leaks more than once and finally the technician got sick of it and told me to just empty it, then order a tank replacement with the next refill. He even put a note into the system that the tank should be swapped out. So, exactly as I'm told, I ordered the tank swap on 09/30/2020 and didn't hear anything for weeks, called and got an appointment for said swap to take place on 10/19/2020, but technician never showed. After calling daily and always being promised a callback that never came, Ferrellgas finally came up with "oh, no-no, we just wanted to check the tank and will not be replacing it before 11/3/2020". I was like, forget it, it was you guys who wanted to replace the rust bucket I pay rent for. But if you can't, then just refill the current that was fixed (and held up after the last attempt).

But no, now all of the sudden it is a safety hazard and cannot be refilled. -I mean really? First you want to send somebody out again to determine if I'm even eligible for a good working tank, then you have no problem charging me rent for the failing tank, but no, you can't fill it with gas and I'm without it for 5 weeks? ...Avoid at all costs, there are better options out there.

Guy came out, confirmed a leak and hauled the 80% full tank away. No ability to cook over the weekend but ok. Monday no one calls me so I call them. Woman seems incredulous that they took my tank and needs to call management. I get a call a few hours later that they will be here to replace the tank on FRIDAY. What?! How can that be? Starts to tell me the tank is 2 hours away in Orlando, like I care. Been trying to get to a manager all day because we can’t afford to eat out for a full week! It’s 100 degrees out so I don’t see us grilling the whole week either! Seeing the reviews here it’s clear I’m screwed. But when my tank is empty, I’m done with them. This is not acceptable.

We had the pleasure of recently interacting with Ferrellgas. One of our tenants moved out and we needed to temporarily change the account into our name. It took a few hours to get that done and the lady on the phone was more than annoyed with the request. Finally they gave us a 4 hour window and I confirmed it. We don't live on site so we got there and waited. After 4 hours nobody showed. I called and the lady said that our window was the 4 hours in the afternoon. Well, I had the message with the morning time frame on my voicemail. When the technician shows name is Cody. Called I shared my frustration and Cody apologized and we made a firm appointment for 2 days later. He showed up and all was good.

Today we tried to close the account since a tenant has moved in and open the account for the whole house to connect the dryer. Shannon from the customer service department should really either get a training session or switch jobs. She was rude, annoyed and simply unprofessional. First she did not want to close our account and lectured me that she cannot open or close an account for a tenant. I told her that the tenant had assured me the account was switched and all I wanted to do is confirm so I'm not stuck with a bill. At this point she requested the name of the tenant. I gave it to her, needed to spell it to her and then she confirmed that it had been switched. Wohhhoo.

NOW we wanted to open up the house meter. OMG. Shannan was so annoyed and her first comment was that the meter needs to be replaced. We asked why Cody did not tell us when he was out and why that meter needs to be replaced when all the others are the same age. Her answer was to put us on hold without explaining why for about 5 minutes. When she came back she said that we are switched over and that she will call us back for the appointment time. Not one kind word or an apology for the wrong information from before. If this would have been the first time I had to experience their chaotic customer service I would not have written a review but today the rudeness pushed me over the edge. If you do not authorize this, then you will be required to pay beforehand and make a guess of how much it will take to fill your tank. If you over pay, it is really difficult to get your money back. This company's decision to treat you like you are financially irresponsible individual shows they are more interested in their profits than having a good relationship with their customers. Keep this in mind when you choose to buy your propane from them.

I have been using Ferrellgas since December of 2019 and have spent over $1000 for propane in those 3 months and the only thing I had running off it was my furnace. Long story short I called in December because I smelled propane strongly and was afraid of a leak. Guy came out. "Inspected". Said there was no leak. We used our furnace very little and was out of propane already by the beginning of January.

Fast forward to the past couple days I I just purchased over 400 dollars on the 24th of February have used my heat for a total of 3 days since it's been warm and my propane is almost halfway gone. I called was extremely patient and respectful asked for someone to come check for a leak again. Lo and behold they sent someone that tested properly and my tank the entire three months has been leaking. I asked the supervisor if there was anything she could do to reimburse me for the lost propane and pretty much said I was SOL. Very rude and disrespectful. I feel like they dont care about their customers and I won't be a Ferrellgas customer again and hopefully no one else gets screwed over like I did. Beware.

My husband and I just bought our home in November and our seller told us she had just filled the tank and we should be good through the winter, long story short, it's February and I'm getting our tank re-filled. I called Ferrellgas and informed the woman on the phone that I have never had a propane tank and I know nothing about owning a propane tank, getting it filled, etc so I had some questions for her first. I asked first, how much would it be to get the tank filled, she said that because my account hadn't been set up yet she couldn't answer that question (doesn't seem right as the cost for 400 gallons of propane should be the same regardless of my account being set up).

Next, she informed me that I could be set up on a payment plan if I allowed her to pull my credit, so because I didn't know the amount I wasn't sure if I could swing the full payment all at once so I allowed her to pull my credit. Once she called back notifying me that my account was set up she told me the cost so I asked what that monthly payment would be and she aggressively said "No, you have 30 days to make the full payment, there is no payment plan." So she needlessly pulled my credit which pissed me off for obvious reasons.

I controlled my temper and let it slide because we still had a transaction to finish and getting mad doesn't get anyone anywhere. She then told me that it would be delivered within the next 7 days, I informed her that we were expected to be out of town from Thursday to Sunday and asked if us not being home would be an issue with the delivery. She said that they would place a green tag on our door if we weren't home, that didn't really answer my question so I tried to ask again and she started speaking over me in a louder voice and repeated exactly what she just said so I tried to ask again with the EXACT same result.

I'm still not sure what's going to happen if we're not home for the delivery, will they deliver it or will I need to call again when I see the tag to start the 7 day waiting period all over again. But because it is February and we need gas NOW I told her we were just going to order 200 gal of gas and my the full payment now. When spring rolls around I will be shopping for a new supplier. I CAN'T WAIT TO CALL THEM BACK AND TELL THEM TO COME GET THEIR ** OFF MY PROPERTY!!! She also didn't say anything to me about an emergency delivery for a fee, I only know about this because of the other 1 star reviews on this website.

I was a loyal customer with low usage for 13 years. In 2019 my rental fee shot from $50 to $150! When I questioned the increase and why was not notified it was explained to me that “small customers aren’t worth our time.” Decision made - we were getting a new company. Installation was set with the new company and I called Ferrellgas to have our equipment removed after a set date so that we would not be without fuel. I was also told that even though my tank was full I would not receive any refund for the nearly $250 worth of fuel in the tank. This is beachside “propane sales are final.” Fine, I just want to move on.

I confirmed the date that equipment could be removed. When I arrived home, one day after requesting to stop service, my equipment was gone. I called the company because there must have been a mistake, and was told that the equipment was in their possession and will not be returned. They chose to remove my equipment at their convenience, even though it clearly was still in use. Customer service is non-existent and I am out $300 that I won’t get back. Worst service provider ever.

They are the worst company. I was out of town and the person watching my home called me to tell me I was out of fuel. I called them and was charged $775. $400 of it was for emergency delivery, and after hours fee. They took every dime of my energy assistance. If you run out and your not home and call, they tell you, "If you want it delivered same day it will cost you another $200 on top of the cost." They only care about money not ppl. I have called other companies and found that most fees are $75-150. Wish I wasnt under contract. I would tell them come get their JUNK.

We called to schedule delivery when we were at 15%. We have always been told call at 15% and will be delivered in 5 5 business days and if we want delivery sooner we have to pay an emergency fee of $150. We called on the 20th to pay and request delivery. We were told the 30th would be delivery date because of the holidays. I expressed concern that we may run out of our heating source for our home if we had to wait until Monday.

Customer service rep told me she would check with router to see if anybody in our area today or the weekend. She called me back and stated there was not and would have to wait until Monday or I could pay $150 fee to have delivered today even though we placed order on the 20th. She made comment to me, "Don’t you think everybody deserves time with their family over the holiday?" Since I am a nurse and get to work every holiday all hours and I found her comment insensitive and ignorant. When our contract is up we will be leaving Ferrell gas.
