The only reason I'm even giving a 1 star, is the customer service folks and delivery driver...very nice. Professional. I've had to order 2x so far at my new house and both times I've been out of propane for 3 weeks order #1, 2 weeks order #2. Also, 3 weeks ago, I was offered and ordered a $150 monitor + $60/yr fee so this wouldn't happen. When I called to check on my delivery for gas, I followed up on the monitor (this time was the 800#, not the local number). Lady informs me that they have stopped service in my area and it doesn't matter, as they have no monitors in stock and no in-stock date. So frustrating. This summer, I will definitely be switching companies!

Bought our house 2 years ago with a buried tank. Previous owners left a lot of information for us. Had the tank filled the 1st time by Ferrell because that's who the previous owners used. That time wasn't a problem. 2nd time they double charged us, and took over a week to return the $. Now (3rd order) they keep changing the delivery date. It's been 12 days without heat and they just changed the date again. Nobody wants to explain WHY they can't make deliveries in a timely manner and IF you get someone on the phone, they are either rude or can't give a direct answer. Horrible Horrible Service. And they keep telling us the tank belongs to them but can't provide ANY record of rental agreement.

If I could demerit stars, I most certainly would! My sister has been with this company for over 30 years without problems.....until now. Gas has been on order since Jan 24, 2025 and has not been delivered to this day of February 13, 2023! She has MS and her heat and cooking is by way of propane! She has tracked her order on her account where they have changed the date and time on 3 separate occasions (including today)! All the "ladies" at the Morehead, KY location can't seem to get things straight and should probably consider a different type of employment. I hear KFC needs help...I spoke to a woman named Anne this morning and another named Christy who stated her supervisor's name is Whitney. They all contradicted themselves while sounding much more knowledgeable with their mouths shut. If you ever expect for your delivery to be on time, then shop elsewhere if you're residing in the Morehead delivery area.

Back in November my internet provider hit my gas line creating a leak. Ferrellgas came out to fix the leak, however, their techs did not check my tank to verify how much propane leaked out in order to update the website. Nor did they suggest I check on the percentage left. I should have had 30% left today. Instead, my tank ran empty leaving me with no heat. I have my disabled mother, who has heart condition and she cannot be exposed to cold temps for extended time. When I contacted Ferrell they simply told me, "I'm sorry we can't do anything for you." Got that same answer from 3 different people. I was told they did deliveries in the order they come in. Doesn't matter if people are completely out of gas or not.
The last time I ordered gas it took them a month to deliver it, the shortest amount of time they have ever taken was 2 weeks. So I was told I would just have to wait and they even asked if I can use space heaters instead. My house space heaters are not effective. All the heat goes up to the 20ft entryway. So now I am stuck as they will not let anyone else fill the tank and they are not doing any expitited deliveries any more.

I asked for a larger tank in the fall and I was told that we do not qualify for a larger tank. So we ran out of gas February 1. Here it is the 11 the and still waiting for them to fill it. They say now we can get a larger tank because we ran out 3 times in a year. I am way past mad!

I don't understand what's going on with customer service in this country. You can order gas and pay for it over the phone and it takes weeks to deliver it. What that have one truck, one driver for the area in southern Indiana. When you run out of gas there is no emergency refill service, or so I'm told. What if someone freezes to death. They don't care. Does the CEO of Ferrellgas care or even know what her company is doing. This seems to be a problem with a lot of corporations in America. It's all about the money. Screw the customer. I don't understand why they cannot deliver gas a few days after you order it. Maybe buy more trucks and hire more drivers.

It’s our first time running low with any troubles, our first delivery was fast and efficient but now that’s it’s freezing out there is not a need for them to get fuel to help heat the home or take a warm shower. My mom is elderly. I called and voiced this and the customer service online was very rude to me and said it’s my fault for waiting when I in fact tried to get it here sooner, I already paid and they took the funds and says it could be up to 10 days!! It’s 56 in the home and I’ve tried everything to try to keep the home warm. It’s not helping. I want to report them!

I have called every work day am I am now down to 1% not even enough to run my furnace. They just keep saying they are doing the best they can do! That must mean they can take almost $800 from me and do not care if they give me propane!!!!

This company let me run out of gas. I prepaid on 1-17-25. Warned them every day after the 27th I was about to run out. Their deadline date to delivery was 1-31-25. Finally when I called the morning of the 31st, said I was at 1% my furnace is off or I'd been out of gas that morning, they tell me I am not on the schedule for today. & My delivery date has been changed to 2-5-25. Unacceptable. I was told all them days between the 27th & 31st it would tomorrow. I was lied to! I called another company @11:30 on the 31st. & they delivered me 300 gallons at 2 PM that day!

We ran out and yes that's our fault. We put 600 gallons in 2 months ago and I guess with this Colder Weather we ran out. It's Friday the 7th we have no hot water or heat. The earliest they can get to us is February the 14th. Which seems very bizarre considering it's a heating oil company.

I have been with this company for just under 6 years. The first three years were good, call a local phone number, talk to a local person, paid over the phone, two days later got my propane. Then everything changed - call a new number, talk to someone in an out of state call center, explain my order multiple times before they got the information right, Call a different number to make a payment, go online to see if the payment is posted (sometimes taking more than a day before it shows up) then wait sometimes two weeks or more for delivery. Complain about service and was told to place order earlier- Automated system thinks I have more gas than I do and won't let me place an order... I have burned wood for days to keep the house from freezing... This company does its best to drive people away, I will be going somewhere else before the next heating season along with my neighbor who has had the same issues.

I have been using a local propane supplier for many years but hooked up with Ferrellgas because they were a little cheaper this year. I signed up for auto fill and gave them all of the information on our house and the percent full on the tank. The percentage on the tank kept falling but they were not coming to fill so I had to call. The person I talked to said they would come within the next two to three days but a week went by and nobody came. I called again and they said they let the tank go down to 10 percent before they consider it urgent. They finally did come before it got that far.

Started off well, Now even their own website says 30% or 7 days in advance call for a refill. We did so, it's been 2 1/2 weeks and still no propane. Now my elderly mother has 0 heat. I called and asked if they can do an emergency fill. They said no. I asked if I can hook up a 100lb tank just to get her a couple of days, they said they can not advise us to do so but if I do so, My mom would have to wait even longer for a tech crew to come out and repressure check her house. So that would have to be done first then within another week or so they would come fill the propane. Also they said if my mom were on auto refill and not "will call" she wouldn't have this issue. That does make some sense but the way they prioritize customers over one another is horrible. The rep also said next time order at 40% last time we did that for my mom they chewed us out for ordering to "early". Not to mention it took well over 20 minutes just to get a rep on the line.

Extremely terrible experience. We have been without heat and hot water as well as a means to cook for 4 weeks now. Our entire house runs on propane. We paid over $700.00 4 weeks ago and 4 times they have pushed back our delivery in the last few weeks with no explanation why. There were no notes in their system today when we called today to ask where the delivery was.
Once again they are pushing our delivery back a few days as they say and I go into surgery tomorrow. We have asked to speak to a supervisor multiple times. They claim the only way to get a hold of one is by email and we have to wait for a callback. We never receive any calls back. This has been one of the worst months of my time here in Alabama with how cold it has been and we are suffering due to this company. They will not issue us a refund back so that we can use another propane service. We are experiencing some health concerns due to this situation with this company.

Their pricing is a little bit less than competitors but their service is horrendous and their follow up is absolutely horrible. Save yourself a major headache and find another supplier. I don’t write reviews but if I can save someone else from making the same mistake I did I hope this will help. It took 3 months for tank to get installed and was told it would take 2-3 days to fill tank. It is now 3 weeks in freezing weather and still no gas in tank. Cancelling service today and going with another vendor.

Where do I even begin? Whomever is in charge of servicing Cleveland County AR needs to be fired immediately. These people are completely incompetent and a bunch of liars who promise to deliver and then ghost you for A MONTH without ever delivering when they say they’re going to. This is not the first time that my elderly mother who’s fighting a life threatening illness has had to sit in below freezing temperatures without gas (that was preordered and prepaid in advance) to run her heat. In my opinion this company needs to be sued or under new management and have completely new staff. We FINALLY received the gas today that was supposed to have been delivered a long time ago. But today will be the last time we use this ridiculous company who have no business being a business. We will be moving to a different gas company who actually has integrity, organization, and better management. I DO NOT recommend this company.

Repeated calls and "chats" have resulted only in boilerplate platitudes and empty reassurances. We will be canceling our service as soon as possible and going to another provider.

This company is TERRIBLE. I’ve had multiple occasions where my home is freezing cold because this company doesn’t send anyone out on time. Not only that, they are liars! I had called my landlord about running low on propane a couple days before Thanksgiving. My landlord was upset because she had requested 2 weeks prior to have it filled 2-3 days before Thanksgiving… well, thanksgiving comes around, no heat. I call my landlord the following business day and she informed me that this company had contacted her about the fact that they already come out and filled our tank (and others) which was NOT TRUE. They also told my landlord they didn't come out because it was around the holidays. My landlord called again and told me they should be out in the next 2-3 days. Well, they came on the 4th day. About a month goes by… everything was fine, I thought. January 5th , I see that the propane is at about 35% so I informed my landlord.
My landlord had already requested for a fill for us, but was even grateful that I had called. Well… it’s January 15th now. Well, since the house is freezing, my gf and I didn’t wash the 2 plates we used to eat the past night. I did rinse the plates off though so they wouldn’t be hard to wash in the morning. I go to wash them after I wake up and the plates are covered in ice. I immediately started to worry about my pet snake which does have all the necessary essentials for warmth as well, however I still worried, but she’s doing fine.
We can’t leave our room without our feet freezing, seeing our breath as we exhale, and shivering when trying to make breakfast. I can see how one would say most of that is a bit of a personal problem. However, why am I paying for a service I’m not receiving? My personal problems aren’t so personal when the fact that I have them stems from the fact that the place I'm renting from happened to seek service from whatever joke this company makes themselves out to be.

I've been a customer of Ferrell Gas for over three years and just had one of the worst customer experiences in some time. I called to schedule a refill, and while they said it would be delivered in a week, I ran out of gas after two days (my fault). Three days later, I called to check the status, only to find out I wasn’t even on the schedule. I politely waited, and the following Monday, they promised delivery that day. The driver did come, but instead of turning on the gas, they filled it and shut it off, falsely marking that no one was home to light the pilot light. This was untrue, as I was home all day and watched the Ferrell Gas truck leave my property.
When I couldn't get any gas to flow, I tried to call Ferrell Gas, but they were closed. It took me two hours to figure out the gas had been shut off and figure out how to light the pilot myself. When I called to report that this happened, the company was dismissive, saying they would log an “incident” and that someone would call me back. No one did.
This level of poor communication and well, right out lying is unacceptable. I’ve since switched to another gas provider and cannot recommend Ferrell Gas. The new provider, Suburban Propane, will be here within 24 hours if we are ever out again and charge nothing for this service. Ferrell Gas will not do this, even for a surcharge. Suburban Propane also charge less for the gas. Ferrell Gas, do better.

We requested a refill at 45% on Jan 3. We have had extremely cold temps. We are now at 6%. We have called twice, gave them our percentage and they are still saying that Friday the 17th is the soonest they can service. We will run out of propane before then. Their suggestion was to turn the thermostat down and use space heaters. They refused to give me a manager to talk to and said they would pass the message along and someone would call back. Terrible customer service leaving people without heat during the extreme cold temps. They do not care for customers. We have started the process of looking for another propane company to service us. I do not recommend Ferrell Gas if you want to have propane during the winter.

This is the worst company to order gas from. When you call them to place an order the customer service is great but once these crooks, take your money, the customer service change. They’ll give you a time and date on placing orders and never follow up. They always have you waiting for your fuel at least 2 to 3 weeks out even if you pay extra for expedited delivery, they never go by with their promises. I ordered and paid extra for early delivery and now I’m being told they don’t know when I will get my delivery. I’m stuck in the house with 4 kids ranging from 9 month old to 6 year old autistic child. This company is the worst. And the worst thing about the company the company is less than 20 - 30 mins from my house.

Updated on 01/07/2025: Update 01/07. More multiple calls placed yesterday and today. My wife demanded to speak with a manager/supervisor. We were told yesterday they would call back in a half hour. No calls ever received. We called again in the afternoon and no one has called us back. The customer service lady just keeps saying we're doing all we can. Today she said, "I see you are scheduled for a delivery on the 9th." That is two days from now.
Last night it was 9 degrees (-2 with windchill). I woke up to a 45 degree house. Kept at that temperature only by 3 electric heaters that cannot keep up with the freezing temperatures we are getting. The lack of concern or urgency by this company to get propane to our house to keep us from freezing is inconceivable! Guess what it only took a few hours for them to pull out the money from our bank to pre-pay for the propane. That seems to have been the only thing that was urgent for them in this whole transaction.
Original Review: We have been FerrellGas customers in Central NY for 7 years. Up until this last order we have not had too many complaints. We have ordered and had our delivery in less than 5 days. However, that all changed with this last order. We placed an order on December 17th and have been waiting for propane since. It is now January 6th, 2025. I called on the 3rd of January to let them know that we were now out of propane and was told that they tried to deliver on the 21st of December the day of a snowstorm and could not deliver because our driveway was not clear. I have multiple cameras that capture 360 degrees around our house and checked the three that capture the roadway in front of our house from December 17th through January 3rd. There was no evidence that their truck ever pulled up to our property.
Also the 21st was a Saturday when they don't typically work, so we are having a hard time believing that they attempted to deliver. My wife drives a small Mazda car and was in and out of our driveway multiple times over that weekend with no problem. We probably had less than 4 inches of snow in total and our driveway is reasonably flat. Having driven a dump truck with tandem trailers behind it in Utah, in similar climate and weather conditions, I don't believe a large truck would have had any trouble.
Also, in the past, on several occasions, they have not even pulled into our driveway they parked on the side of the road and took the shortest route to the tank to fill. After two calls on the 3rd of January, two other customer support forms completed online, and two additional calls today, we have had customer support people who have basically said there wasn't much they can do for us, but see we have a delivery scheduled for between Friday, the 3rd and the 15th of January. This is because they canceled our first order apparently after the one alleged attempt to deliver and Friday when I spoke to them, and they created a new order on that day.
For the past four days we have been stuck in a house that is hovering between 48-50 degrees, only because we have a few electric heaters running, and occasionally turning on our oven with the door open, that won't keep up with the single digit to weather in the teens outside. On top of all of this two days after they supposedly showed up the weather was 53 degrees and the snow had all been melted by that afternoon by rain. They require I provide my email and phone number when I order the propane, but for what reason I don't know.
I was never notified of an attempt to deliver, to schedule a follow-up delivery, etc. No note was left on our door or our mailbox, nothing. I'm not sure if they could have done any less to try to get us a delivery. So here we sit freezing in our home at the mercy of a company that quite simply could not care less. Bad form FerrellGas. We always thought you were doing a good job, but now see why there is a one-star rating from most people who have reviewed this company. Many have said they only gave one star as that is their only option. Many, it seems would have preferred to give negative stars.
