They are the worst company. I was out of town and the person watching my home called me to tell me I was out of fuel. I called them and was charged $775. $400 of it was for emergency delivery, and after hours fee. They took every dime of my energy assistance. If you run out and your not home and call, they tell you, "If you want it delivered same day it will cost you another $200 on top of the cost." They only care about money not ppl. I have called other companies and found that most fees are $75-150. Wish I wasnt under contract. I would tell them come get their JUNK.

We called to schedule delivery when we were at 15%. We have always been told call at 15% and will be delivered in 5 5 business days and if we want delivery sooner we have to pay an emergency fee of $150. We called on the 20th to pay and request delivery. We were told the 30th would be delivery date because of the holidays. I expressed concern that we may run out of our heating source for our home if we had to wait until Monday.
Customer service rep told me she would check with router to see if anybody in our area today or the weekend. She called me back and stated there was not and would have to wait until Monday or I could pay $150 fee to have delivered today even though we placed order on the 20th. She made comment to me, "Don’t you think everybody deserves time with their family over the holiday?" Since I am a nurse and get to work every holiday all hours and I found her comment insensitive and ignorant. When our contract is up we will be leaving Ferrell gas.

Ferrell Gas wants their monies upfront to even install a tank. Payment in full before they come to fill and you can wait up-to 10 days for a full up if they even show in that time. After a year of dealing with them when our rank rental was due we called for disconnect and pick up. Ten days later and three promised pick up dates we still have their tank. Once again they think their customers are at their mercy. We are not! At over 3 dollars a gallon I absolutely refuse to purchase. I can go to town and fill 100pd tanks for 2.19. Well worth my time to do so not being held hostage at their timetables.

***Notice to the public*** As a customer of Ferrell gas and disabled veteran, I received great customer service. I called over a year ago to check on prices and they gave me service delivering a tank, installing it for cooking, filled my tank, and then giving me veteran discount on the price. After the installation I paid in full with a card over the phone. Take note that no one mentioned to me that I had to make a payment before a service could be given nor mentioned to me that I had to give authorization to run a hard hit on my credit to qualify for service before Payment is given. They just gave me service.
Continuing my service with them due to the outstanding service that I was provided I called them up a few weeks ago to have a tank delivered, installed, and filled for heating and the lady said no problem and said she will call back after speaking to the technician and with a date to install it. I received a phone call later from this woman and said they would come out on Monday, November 4, 2019 to install the tank and I was all set. I receive a call from a different lady the week before the install saying they need a payment before the scheduled install can be conducted because apparently I chose to be in their system to make payment first and then receive service (this is the first I’ve heard of this). I told her that I was not willing to do this because I dont pay for service before it’s given and refused. I received another call that week from the other woman confirming my appointment on Nov. 4 and that I did not need payment first.
November 4 they came out to install and everything was fine. I received a receipt from the installer and called the lady to give payment and she said they don’t have a bill generated yet and it could be 24 hours. I called the next day on Nov. 5 and made a payment over the phone for the full amount. Take note I am told the tank already had 12 gallons in it when delivered and it was filled to 80%(120gal tank/80%= 100 gallons roughly).
November 26 I ran out of propane, I keep my heater on low and turn it off most days because we have been having decent weather most days. Less than a month with 100 gallons and I’m out. I go to the tank and it’s under 10 gallons and I smell propane and turn it off just to be safe. Tuesday, Nov. 27 I call and report the leak and they say they will send someone out that day. I did not see a technician come out and I do not receive a call back from Ferrell gas with a report of their findings if they did come out and I missed them.
Wednesday 11/27 comes and goes and then Thursday 11/28 is Thanksgiving so on Friday 11/29 I call back and ask what’s going on. The lady says they came out and checked the propane that was for cooking and not the one I specifically told them about and that they found no leaks. I then got it straight that they checked the wrong tank. The lady said she is going to send out the same technician that installed the leaking tank to check for leaks. I told her I would like it filled and told me I had a $56 credit on the account. Apparently the amount they charged me before was too much and then left the balance on the account as a credit. She said I will need to make a payment first before they can fill the tank again.
I again disagreed with doing a payment before a service was done and that 2x before they came out and gave me service and then I paid. She said she needed to talk to the supervisor and would contact me back. She called me back 30 minutes later and said that I chose to be on payment before service plan because I refused to have them run my credit which is a hard hit on your credit report. This lady Kim then argued that they came out on Nov 5th and filled the tank and that I made payment after the service on the 5th. I disagreed with her and then hung up on her because not once but 3x she talked over me and and was not trying to be understanding.
SUMMARY. So 2x they been out to give me service and both times I’ve paid in full within 1 day of the service that was given and this woman Kim insisted that they can not give me service this time due to the section I’ve made to not have them run my credit. They have $56 of my money as credit. Their technician left the install with a leak. They have not been back to fix the leak because I refuse to pay first to have it filled and why would I pay for a refill of propane that I did not use but leaked out maybe. I've attached a copy of my schedule to show the day they came out to conduct the install and a copy of my bank statement of when they pulled the money from my account.
As far as I’m concerned if they continue to want my loyalty and business they need to come out and make sure I don’t have any leaks and fill my tank for free. I don’t expect to take advantage of anyone or company and I sure don’t expect them to do that to me either. I have paid for the heat that I used and I expect the fuel that I lost to be paid back due to it's their technician's fault for the leak.

I wrote you my initial complaint against FERRELL Gas a few days ago. The next day the Local Branch Service Manager called and took care of me. Like I said in the first complaint it was corporate that took the calls and that person would not help me in any way. I knew if I could contact my local gas they have always been quick to help and very curious! The service tech was on time and called me before he came. I am so thankful and pleased with my local company!

I have been a customer for over 13 years. I have been pleased with the service until the last 2 years. I don't know the difference but it is very apparent they are not a local company. I try to call the La Vergne Office who always were so helpful in the past and now I get a corporate office which does not care about the customer's needs. They are not helpful and rude. All I need is my pilot light to be lite since they could not tell me what day or time they would come to fill the tank so I was not there. They offer 2 week to 4 week time for service techs. I live about 8 miles from their La Vergne, TN location. In the past the local location would just talk to a tech and have him swing by at the end of his day. I am very disappointed in the lack of care. I will be investigating another source of Propane in the future.

This is one of the worse companies I have ever dealt with. When I bought my house two years ago my closing was delayed because they red tagged a tank and never informed us that they could not put gas in the current tank. I had to wait over a week and delay the closing in order for them to come out and put a new tank in. The new tank they installed does not have a gauge on it so I have no way of knowing when my gas is going to run out. Over the past two years I have run out of gas several times and when you call them to come fill the tank all they say is will be there one day next week and It can take them up to seven days to come fill the tanks. I promise you taking a cold shower in January is not fun.
When they come out they are supposed to fill the tank and check your pilot light to make sure everything is Functioning properly. This never happens because the pilot light is inside my house and I work so I am not home when they come. I would be happy to rearrange my schedule and be home except they won’t give me a timeframe. Now I am having issues with my pilot light and they want to charge me $119 fee to come out and check it. I highly recommend you use a different company. I will be switching as soon as I can come up with the money to cancel with them.

My experience was terrible. They installed the tank and line two years ago, I kept smelling gas and called them and reported it. Finally, the same guy that fills it, inspects it as well. He found nothing but I kept smell it and using more than I thought I should be using... I checked the tank and line myself with Dawn dishwashing liquid and found the gas leak and called them back out. They accused me of tampering with the line which was untrue. I told them to just take the tank and get off my property.

It seems to be my experience from having Ferrellgas that they way overcharge for set up. We also had to dig and bury the lines and basically do all the hard work. The man that came to service us was very rude. We were not told that we had to dig our own ditch we were just expected to know that and chewed out for it when he came and it wasn't done. They also expected us to put a piece on all of our an unmanned appliances. Come to find out this piece has not been used since the 70s. They would not help exchange our stove over to propane instead of natural gas.
When we moved out of our campers and into our house they want to charge us another $500 to move the tank again. So we told them to come get their tank. We had 10% of gas left over and they would not give us our money for that. They said they would have to charge us a fee to have it pumped out of the tank and that would be the same amount as our 10% in gas. In my mind they stole the 10% of gas from us. We found another Gas Company that did not charge us for setup. They also exchanged our pieces in our stove to make it propane instead of natural gas.

Wanna endanger your whole family or go weeks without hot water and heat in your home? Ferrellgas is here for you! They came out after two weeks to fill my tanks (took way too long). When the guy got here he did a leak test on our system since we had run out waiting for them. He says our earthquake valve is suddenly broken, stuck closed and we can’t get propane in our house. After calling multiple times and never being called back the manager says he will come out himself and just take the thing off. When he does come out he says it can’t be taken off with a subcontractor coming out. We have now been without propane for a week.
When speaking to the manager about how upset I am at their total lack of customer service and how is is obviously lying to me 'cause he has changed his story, I say I wanna cancel my service with them. He hangs up on me!! Oh and another gas company comes out the next day ('cause they respond in 24 hours) and say the thing was never broken in the first place. It was leaking out the bottom of it though, they take it off, reconnect the pipes and now I have propane!! Thank you American Distributing for saving me!!

We've been with them for over six years, but have had way too many problems when we moved from Kansas to Nebraska at end of 2015. Multiple times making a simple order have been messed up and I'm so done with them!!! We get limited funding through the state and have little extra right now to offer. But yet again they want to take $75 for a leak test that doesn't even take 5 minutes to complete. They also won't do a partial order, but we can't wait several weeks for the state to simply decide to give us more funding and then several weeks beyond that to provide the actual payment for the propane!!! Shame on them, if it was natural gas they'd be forced to continue to provide through winter months so crap like this doesn't happen!!!

The first time I used Ferrell was to refill my fireplace tank behind my house. They were supposed to arrive during the day but ended up showing up at 9 pm in the pitch dark. The driver left a rut in the neighbor's yard and complained about the size of my tank before leaving. I figured it was a one-time thing. I later scheduled an appointment for a gas line inspection. They gave me a window of 8am-10am. First off, they never sent me an appointment notification or anything, it was just a verbal confirmation over the phone. I call in the morning to confirm that the inspector is coming. They say he'll be there by 10. I wait. I wait some more. I call in and they tell me the inspector won't be able to make it and that they had a note in their CRM to reschedule my appointment, but never did. I asked them to send me possible dates to my email. Still haven't heard from them. I'm incredibly upset with their poor communication and service.

We've been Ferrellgas customers for 12+ years now. When it counts, in the winter months, Ferrellgas never shows up sooner than their projected "end date". On one occasion when our propane wasn't delivered at all, they tried to charge us the $200 emergency delivery fee. Currently, we've been out of propane for 3 days now. We ordered on 1/31/19 & were given a promised delivery no later than 2/11/19. We called 3x on 2/8/19 for a status and were told multiple times we WOULD see them that day. We never did. Now it is our promised date, 2/11/19, and they won't deliver because of the snow. We rely on propane for heat, hot water & our stove, so we've had none of those things for 3 days now, and we have small children.
This is a common occurrence. We have no recourse and are forced to sit and wait with no delivery date. Customer service agents are rude, impatient and not helpful. I'm constantly told I need to try to understand... as I sit here 11 days after I called for a fill without propane for 3 days now with kids and no hot water or heat. Yes, I should learn to be more understanding. This is not a company that we feel has ever gone the extra mile for their customers & doesn't fulfill their promises. If you have a choice, DO NOT choose this company! Save yourself the work and worry.

I have only used Ferrellgas twice now. I called on January 8th and paid them in full to come fill up my tank as I was down to only 50 gallons. They told me they would be out. A few days later called back as no one had shown up - they say they be there sometime between January 8th and January 22nd. On January 15th, my gas ran out. I called again. The only thing they would say is they will try to get there before the 22nd. So another 7 days without heat. They sure didn't mind taking my money on the 8th.
On the 22nd I called to ensure they would be there. NOPE. They couldn't fit me into their logistics schedule. Guess too many people were paying that $150 or $200 fee for waiting until the last minute to fill their tank. So the regular customers who paid on time and before they ran out of gas didn't matter. It is all about the money to them. They could care less about their customers. They did finally deliver my gas today, it only took them SIXTEEN (yes, 16 days to get to my house). Last time I will be using this gas company. They are horrible.

Updated on 02/03/2022: Today is February 3, 2022. It is 3 degrees. I have been on an autopay contract with Ferrellgas for 22 years. This is the third time that Ferrellgas has left me with no gas in the middle of winter in the last four years. The last two times I complained to the corporate office as my husband was terminally ill and we had no heat, hot water, and could not cook. They gave me a $1.99 a gallon contract as resolution and within a day or two came and gave an emergency fill.
When I received my most recent bill, the rate was $3.99 a gallon. I called the office in Santa Fe who informed me that they had me on a $3.99 a gallon contract - I was never informed of this. I was upset and said I was going to change companies. Then I asked what they would do to keep me as customer. They reduced the rate to $3.23. I said specifically, to keep me on autofill and I would call them when I could transfer companies to take the tank. I also tried to call to confirm I was on autofill and sent an inquiry through their website to confirm, but never heard back. Apparently, they took me off autofill and now I have no propane but I do have their tank. They are charging me $150 for an emergency fill. I want that charge released.
Updated on 05/07/2019: This is the second time in less than a year that Ferrellgas has left us with no propane - the first time was in the middle of winter. We are on autofill and have been a customer for 20 years. It took two days for them to come and fill in the middle of winter after leaving us empty and now it has happened again! The employee at the office in Santa Fe does not seem to care and did nothing to keep our business. We are moving to another company.
Original Review: We have had an auto-fill account for years - this year in one of the coldest winters, they did not come to fill our tank from September up until now in January. We never expected they would leave us without gas in the middle of the winter which we use for heating, cooking, hot water. Their customer service is awful and we are now being held hostage not knowing when they are coming and if the driver will remember to come in and re-light the pilots. My husband is very ill and so this is truly critical to his health. They were rude and do not seem to care.

Ferrellgas propane has put pride and money in front of customer service! They had no issue whatsoever turning off our propane tank that they had just filled and red tagging it so we could not touch it until at their convenience they got out here to fix it! And I would not be so upset over this except for the fact that we have two kids in the dead of winter that we're trying to keep warm, hence the point of us getting propane!
After calling the company and demanding a credit towards our account since we had to put more money into small tanks since they refused to get out here until almost a week later to get the Big tank going...they are still refusing to do a credit towards our account! I have never been so upset with a company on how they handled our situation, and how much they truly do not care about their customers if it affects their bottom line!! I do have to give a positive shout out to the driver and the inspector that I dealt with directly, they were awesome! But the regional manager really screwed up with a brand new customer!

If ** your customers is what you consider great service then I suppose Ferrellgas would be doing well. We ran out of propane last week and had to call for an emergency fill. We were told it was a $100 fee plus the cost of the fuel and their ridiculous surcharges. The price per gallon was 20 cents more than their competitor. But what choice did we have? It is a Ferrellgas tank. We were totally at their mercy and they took advantage of us. Their competitor does not charge a ridiculous fee for emergencies and there are no fuel surcharges. Congratulations to Ferrellgas for losing another customer. No wonder nobody in our neighborhood uses their services. We're switching to KC Propane out of Riverside, CA. When we explained what happened to us they balked at what we had told them and explained that they would never take advantage of their customers in that way.

I ran out of propane Saturday night so I couldn't call Ferrell until Monday. Ferrellgas said they would come that day if I would pay the 150$ penalty. I told them I couldn't afford the extra charge so they told me it could be up to a week... knowing we're in a cold spell with evening temps around 18 degrees. They were closed Tuesday. I called Wednesday morning hoping they would come today. The Ferrellgas big tank the trucks refill at is 3 miles from me. Sarah the employee in customer service said it might not be till next week and I asked her, "Aren't there any service calls near me..." She said she had no idea.
So I asked if anyone there knew if there were other calls in my area and she hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor and they said no one was available to talk to me but an email would be sent to the super. Looking at a week with no heat or hot water. Ferrellgas is a despicable company that will provide poor service and gouge the customer at every chance.

In Oct 2018 I called Ferrellgas to install 500 gallon propane tank. I paid for installation and tank fillup. I told them that county required permit. They said they would inform service. After two weeks no one called with installation date so I called back. Jesse from service called with a date of Nov 19th. I told him that permit was required. He said this would take another month for installation to be done. He would call back with date. I called once, sometimes twice a week for a month. Never got a callback. The last time I called, which was a few days ago, sales said she would call service and ask why the holdup. She was told that the permit is a multi step process and they have to work with the builder. BUILDER?? WHAT BUILDER?? Told her that was BS.
The propane tank is for a 22k generator. Told her I was going to call another company. Spoke to another propane company in the area. She said no problem with the permit. Either I can pick it up or they can. Told her I would pick it up, which I did the next day. Took 5 minutes in the inspector's office. All Ferrellgas had to do was talk to me to resolve the issue. Ferrellgas did refund my money with no problem. Because of their incompetence, delays, lies and horrible customer service, I have no power because of the snowstorm in southwest Virginia. If they had done what they were supposed to, I wouldn't be sitting here by the light of a lantern. Think twice about contacting them. All I wanted was a callback. Our home is heated with propane. I ordered a tank and fill up from Ferrellgas. Things went well in set up over the phone. On the delivery date, the company filled the 500 gallon tank and billed me for over $1000 in propane. The driver was unaware of our agreement and did not bother to rectify the situation.
I called customer service and told them what happened. They offered to let us make payments to the account and agreed to lower the bill as well. They were back in no time again filling the tank without our approval. We have since switched to another company. Ferrellgas was notified over a year ago to pick up their tank. It is still sitting in my yard, an ugly eyesore! I emailed them again today but doubt that it will help- they are a horrible company to deal with! Buyer beware. I have been a customer since 2003. Prior to 2010, I paid my invoice upon delivery. In 2011, I suffered a severe back injury and was granted SSD. I called the company and explained the situation. I was told that they would accept monthly payment which I did every month. Last year, I was told that my account was no longer in good standing and I would have to pay in full before delivery. I borrowed money and did so. Afterwards I called the district office and raised "heck". I was told that a memo would be on my account granting monthly payments. I recently called for delivery and was told my acct was no longer valid. I explained...again...and the secretary basically said "tough **". Would leave no stars if I could! Stay AWAY from Ferrellgas. Monday Sept. 17th I called around to different gas companies getting quotes. Was given quote of $1.09 gallon from Ferrellgas, so I told the lady I would like to order 200 gallons. They asked about information that would be on a metal tag, which I was unable to see, because of a wood box around the tank. I told them I wasn’t even sure if there was a tag. They made it out like it wasn’t a big deal and they would send someone out to inspect the tank.
Wednesday Sept. 19th since I wasn’t told how long it would take for them to come out, and they didn’t make it sound like a long time, I decided to call back as this was an emergency and they were aware of such. When I called I was told they would no longer be coming out for inspection, I had to find the tag or they couldn’t fill the tank, so I told them I would tear off part of the box, look for it better and call them back. I gave them all the information off the tank. Now they are coming out, but they want me to pay upfront before they come out (which I didn’t realize until talking to others I should not have done so), and price is now over $300. I asked why I was not told my price would change waiting on them, she really didn’t answer that, but would see what she could get it down to, which turned out to be $1.15 gal, so I paid.
Friday Sept. 21st driver came out, office called. They will not fill tank because of box (we had a dozen conversations about said box, why just now a problem) and wrong regulator, however they did not give me any options, so I told them I would call my husband and call them back. Called back. This lady seemed shocked. The driver didn’t bother to call (I was too as I could have been there in 5 mins). She was suppose to get information on what I needed to do and call me back. That weekend I had had enough and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
Tuesday Sept. 25th Bismark office calls, said she spoke with her office manager and they decided they were not going to provide service to me. I guess they didn’t like that I filed a complaint. Saturday Sept. 29th I still have not received my refund and have had to pay for propane somewhere else, on top of what I have already paid for with Ferrellgas. All this might not look so bad if I didn’t call another company to come out that I called on the 24th and had propane by the 27th. Apparently it wasn’t that big of a deal for someone who is honest. We did have to change out two regulators, which Rough Riders did for us right then and there, along with a pressure test. They were professional and had amazing customer service.

We live in Upstate New York. Ferrellgas let us run out of fuel in the middle of winter when it was 40 below last year. Then they left their tanks here for 2 months thereafter. The worst!!! They kept telling us that they were going to bring us fuel but they didn't; wouldn't commit to a date as our tanks drained down to nothing. They didn't care. We almost had to move out of our place, and were worried about pipes freezing. If there was a zero rating I'd rate them 0.

Stay away from this company. When my now husband and I bought our first home 6 years ago, Ferrellgas had a tank here. We were young and didn't have much money, so we only had it filled when we needed it, since we only use it for water. They told us the tank was ours, and since we only use propane for water, why not get a smaller tank? We would just have to make payments on it. We said no, we'll just keep the bigger tank since we don't have to pay on it. Things were fine for a few years.
Fast forward to early 2016, someone we know who also uses them recommended we to auto fill with budget billing. We look into it, and we're told based off our current usage we would only pay 40.00 a month, and they come out when it gets down to between 20 and 21% left in the tank. It went great! For a year. We increased our usage by a little bit, and knew when it was time to be reevaluated for our new payment it wasn't going to be 40.00 we anticipated somewhere in the 100s, because even though we increased a little bit of our usage, we didn't increase it THAT much. Near the end of 2016 my husband was laid off of work, and it took two weeks of saving unemployment just to pay rent.
The other two weeks went to paying the car. Somehow though, we still made sure to pay Ferrellgas. As it began to get closer to the time of us being reevaluated, I noticed they were coming out to fill our tank A LOT more. There was no way we were at 20% yet, since they had just came not very long before that. They still come a few more times, and when we get our new notice of how much our monthly payment was going to cost us, it said over $300.00! We called and asked them if that was right, and when she said yes we told her we didn't understand how it jumped that much. She tells us they undercharged us for the previous year. How is that our fault? We told her if we had 300 a month to set aside for just propane, we wouldn't be on budget billing, and we're not paying that outrageous amount each month, is there some way they could work with us.
They tell us to figure it out, and we have to pay our monthly payment in full. I tell her there's no way we can do that. Fast forward to now, we had to file bankruptcy because as much as we're trying to get everything that built up over the time my husband was laid off, even with him making better money now, it's just impossible to do all that, pay our things on time, and still find a way to eat as well. We included our debt to Ferrellgas in that (over $3,000). Fast forward to a few days ago, a man shows up at my door saying he's here to take the tank. I tell him the company said I own that tank. He leaves it here and tells me to call them to get it figured out. Now, I don't plan on using the tank, and my husband and I are purchasing a new hot water tank that won't run off of propane that way we won't need propane in the house for anything.
However, I'm curious as to how they could come take it when they told me 6 years ago I owned it (and if it wasn't for the fact of them telling me I owned it, I wouldn't care if they took it or not). I called and told her someone just tried to remove my tank, even though I own it, according to them. She informs me that I don't own it, and it's being taken since our account is written off as a bad balance (or however she worded it, either way I figured that's why they were at my door just a half hour beforehand). I told her about how we were paying everything on time, until they came and started filling us non stop right before it was time to figure out our new payment, even though we weren't at 20-21% at each of those last fills. She then informs me in the winter they come out when it's at 30% (and they only fill it to 50%, but she didn't think I knew that).
I told her that no one informed us of that when we signed up (which was in the winter by the way. And the first year we were on the auto fill they only came when the tank was in the 20's, and didn't start coming when it was in the 30's until our anniversary date was coming up). She continued to tell me that we could've turned off auto fill in the summer months. As far as we knew, once we said no more auto fill it was completely done with, and that would've messed with our budget billing each month. I tell her all of this info would've been nice when we first signed up.
She then tells me they'll leave my tank if I pay my balance, or do something to show I'm trying to correct everything, and she'll get back to me later with that balance. I tell her we tried to get something figured out, but they never tried to work with us and told us to "just figure it out, and we need to pay what owe each month is full" and I told her not to bother looking for the balance, we included this debt with the bankruptcy. She immediately tells me if I don't pay the over 3,000 I owe (which just seconds before she didn't know what I owed), they were taking the tank and even if we tried to set up a new account with them, we'd still have to pay it before they did anything for us.
I proceed to tell her I didn't include over $3,000 of debt into a bankruptcy just to still pay it, and to think I would try to have another account with them was hilarious because I'd never bother with them again to even try to give them another opportunity to screw me over the way they have. She tells me it was all on my papers, and her advice to me was to keep an eye on everything with the next company I go to, or I'll be in the same situation. The only papers I ever got from them were the receipt left by the driver saying he filled it, and my letter saying I was going to owe them 300 a month at the next billing date. Had they just been upfront and honest with us beforehand, we would've been able to avoid this whole ridiculous mess.
They lie and hide company practices so they can charge you to the moon and back out of nowhere, then say it's your fault for not knowing. They take no responsibility for anything they say or do to their customers, and working with them is next to impossible. Avoid using them. I'm now sitting here waiting for two things. My new hot water tank that doesn't need propane, and for them to show back up to take the tank, whenever that will be. All I know is, once that tank is gone I can finally wash my hands of this God awful company.

Ferrellgas is run by the shadiest people, who have absolutely NO BUSINESS ETIQUETTE, and they feel they are above the law. When a customer signs up for a set monthly fee to cover the cost of one full tank that has been delivered and filled, the gas company cannot increase the monthly rate on a price that has previously been agreed upon in writing, with monthly payments set at $25/month. Their lame excuse was that “gas prices have gone up.” Too bad, because our monthly CONTRACT IS BASED ON PROPANE PRICES AT THE TIME THE CONTRACT WAS WRITTEN.
I just filled the tank of my truck last week at Valero, using the Valero gas card, which is paid monthly, based on the prices at the time of filling. If this were Ferrellgas, they’d tell me that even though I filled my gas tank at the pump LAST WEEK, they are now going to double my monthly minimum because gas prices went up THIS WEEK. This is exactly what Ferrellgas is doing. The propane tank was filled weeks, if not months ago, and has not been refilled since the gas prices have gone up. We contracted for the gas at the price it was listed when the tank was filled. They cannot legally charge us DOUBLE for gas that has been sitting in our tank on our property, without having been refilled since the prices went up. My congressman, the BBB, AARP, Consumer Advocates, and every other consumer watchdog company, (including our local news) WILL BE MADE AWARE OF THESE THIEVES.

Ferrellgas uses predatory practices to unnecessarily charge its customer. Last fall, I ordered a propane fill for my tank and was told (as I expected) that it would take a couple of days for the delivery man to come and fill my tank. At the time I placed my order, I was fixing my gas dryer and had turned off the main valve from the propane tank and disconnected the gas line from the dryer. To my surprise, the delivery guy came within hours to deliver my fill, but "red tagged" my tank because it failed a leak test. Obviously it failed the test because I had disconnected the line from the dryer.
However, I work from my home and the delivery guy never came to my door (the main door is 10' behind me) nor did he, or Ferrellgas, inform me, in any way, that my tank was receiving a red tag. As I've worked with gas lines and tanks in the past, I simply reconnected everything and unlocked the tank. I did a quick CO check, found everything safe, checked to see if I had properly fixed my dryer (which I had) and turned on the furnace.
Fast forward several months. My tank is low and I call Ferrellgas to come on out for another fill. However, they tell me that because my tank was red flagged, they want to charge me $75 for a leak test and $90 for service. Nevermind that no one told me they were red tagging my tank nor did Ferrellgas ever reach out to me regarding this issue, they simply waited for me to call in another fill to tell me they are charging me an additional $160. In essence, they wait until I need a fill, in the middle of winter, to tell me of this charge. As I stated before, I work out of the home and it's been a cold year. I have kids and I can't afford to not have heat.
Had the delivery guy announced he was there or that he was about to tag my tank, I could have quickly reconnected my dryer and none of this would have happened. I think it is absolutely ridiculous for a company to exercise this kind of practice in where they can hold your tank hostage until you pay them fees they subjectively place on you. This is extortion and a predatory practice. I've never had this experience with a gas company in the past and I plan on changing companies as soon as I can.

Ferrellgas has not been able to meet delivery deadlines (even with a two and a half week delivery window!) And there is no system for accountability. They operate with "call centers" and the best you can hope for is giving your number to the call center operator who will then give it to a manager, who in turn will not call you. So, if you enjoy late deliveries of propane (even with weeks of lead time) with zero accountability and/or a way to reach anyone other than a call center person, then this is the company for you.

Years of problems with this company. Our business has tried to deal with them and the problems range from misinformation to charging us almost $6 per gallon for propane more than once. When we first started the driver would bring the invoice to the office then it stopped and I thought they would mail them, but they never did, we only received statements which don't show price per gallon but reference invoices they didn't send. Months later I found a driver invoice on the ground being ran over by our forklifts. Then later I found another one on the ground soaked by the propane tank. I realized the driver is just leaving the invoice anywhere he feels like instead of walking 20 yards to the office. I mention this only because a year later I thought the price seemed high and looked into it (not easy without any invoices) only to find out they were charging us about $5+ per gallon.
Every gas station here was charging about $2+/gallon at the time. I called to complain and get a credit for over a year of overcharging and got the "we'll get on this right away and have a supervisor call you" more than 5 times and never got a single call back. I then called to stop delivery and we started taking our forklift tanks to gas station for months. Ferrellgas called to update our credit card info and I explained why I wasn't going to update it. It was about 2 years from the time the overcharging started to the time they finally called to fix everything and they ended up only crediting us for about 10 months of overcharging but promised to lock our price at a fixed rate, so we started service again at $1.71/gal. The second invoice 2 weeks later already showed $1.86/gal. After that we didn't get an invoice for 11 months, only statements and they stopped service without notice.
When I called they said our account was frozen because it was over the credit limit of $2500 which was insanely high. Come to find out they were charging us $5.98/gal for months. The same day the driver shows up and I explain all this to him. He says sure it's that high because it costs more to fill forklift tanks instead of our big tank. I say that doesn't make sense because the first time they overcharged us for a year we filled our own forklift tanks from the big tank. Then I asked where he left the invoice because I haven't got one in a year and he says he stopped leaving invoices because whenever he came the last invoice was still sitting there by the tank rack. I asked why he doesn't bring them to the office like every other company and he says he doesn't do that. Bad company, bad service, bad drivers, bad phone support. No one can even be bothered to call you back.

Last year in Spokane I ordered propane for my owned tank as my supplier was backlogged and I was out. They said they could get to me with a minimum order of 100gal. So I said ok and gave them my debit card to pay on delivery. They after receiving that card number then said it will be two weeks out! Not wanting to argue I said, "WHATEVER" and ended the call. I contacted them Banner Fuel, my supplier over 20 years, and they said 4 days to get my propane so I ordered from them and canceled with Ferrellgas within hours. They come to find out had charged my card immediately and were using my money until they got around to deliver. I told the lady (put back the money you didn't have coming to start with) and she said they would. It took 45 days!!!
I then moved to Tri-Cities and bought a 100# tank to use with a small heater. I forgot how very ugly these people were last time and took a chance letting them fill the bottle in the back of my truck. We then went in to pay the 71.00 bill for 23gal of propane. I gave him like at a gas station my credit MasterCard and he went back into a room to process the card and print a receipt. I signed the receipt for 71.00 and left. After my doctor's appointment 2 hours later I looked at my MasterCard account on my iPhone and was blown away. They authorized 71.00 as they were entitled and 1 minute later 284.00?!? When confronted of the in my opinion fraudulent charge for what reason they placed me on hold. I called back and they said, "Well what do you want now?" So I called my credit card company who also tried to contact them from their fraud department and they got no answer either. STAY AWAY from these people or you will be sorry.

I have went through some real bad gas companies over the years. But, when I found out about Ferrellgas, I thought I had finally found a decent company for a change. And, to give them credit, they were a great company for several years. I have a credit rating in the 800's, one bureau was 830 last time I checked. Then in the summer of 2015, I just happened to be home, when a truck pulled up outside my house out in the front and a person was connecting a chain to the gas tank in my backyard! I ran out there and asked what was going on and a very heavy set gentleman with a shirt full of holes advised me that my account was in collections and he was taking Ferrellgas' tank.
Number one: if you want to take or switch a tank, there is access to it through the city fairway behind the house. You dont just drag the tank through the back and front yards by with a chain and leave trenches all along the way! Would've totally destroyed my yard. And I had the "Best Yard" award the previous year on my block.
Number two: I always pay my bills and Ferrellgas was completely paid off as it was every year. I have no idea where all this was coming from. I contacted the number the man gave to me and the customer service lady totally agreed with me. And said she would contact the man and set his information straight. Boom, problem solved, right? Wrong!
Again, the same dude comes over with a pickup truck and a chain and claims he has to pick up my tank and that I now owed "a couple thousand dollars and my account was in collection"! Can you believe this?? Finally, I convinced him to call customer service right there with me standing there with him still in the truck. I don't know what was said, but he again gave a number to call, customer service, and he left.
I, once again, called and they said they closed my account and are opening a new account. I asked why and she said it was the only way they could fix the errors in my account. I said I want it to show I have always paid on time and in full. She said that's would be correct. Fast forward to present. I moved to a new residence and own my own tank and called Ferrellgas and they now want a credit check and advanced payment for a completely filled 500 gal tank before they will bring me propane. I give up! I'll once again search for a good honest gas company to bring me gas and bill me normally like I have done all my life. If anyone wants a good honest on time customer, please get ahold of me. Thank you.

He told us that he had been with the company for over 20 years and yet he didn't know how to hook up a LP to a dual fuel system. He started to work and had turned on a ditch witch then motioned for me to come over by him. The ditch witch was so loud that I had to lean in to hear him ask a question and he grabbed my butt twice! Buyer beware of this company!!! I have had Ferrellgas for about 6 years and it has been a tenuous and tedious relationship at best. The company seems to feel you owe them even after paying your bill on time month after month and year after year. I have had several incidents in the past couple of years that should not have happened. And Ferrellgas refused to take responsibility for their actions by blaming me their customer.
The first incident arose 2 years ago in December 2015 when I went to turn my heater on in my house on a very cold December morning and... nothing happened. I went out and checked my gas cylinders and they both showed EMPTY! I had set up my account with Ferrellgas to be on a "Keep Filled" basis which means Ferrellgas was to check my tanks each time they were servicing other accounts my area and keep them filled at all times. It just happened that this empty tank day was on a Saturday.
I called the company and was told that my account was set up as "Will Call", meaning that I will call them to come and fill my propane tanks, and that I had not called them. I explained that the account had been active for some time and it had initially been set up as keep filled and that they had never failed to fill my tanks when they were servicing my area. I had never set up my account as "Will Call" and had never had to call them to fill my tanks.
I was told that I had to have called and changed the status of my account as they would never do that. "Why would I do that" I asked. They had no response. I was told they would change my account in the computer to "Keep Filled". I thanked them and asked when they could be out to fill my tanks as I was freezing. I was told it would take several days and they would add my request to their list. I was told someone would come to service my gas tanks sometime late in the day on the following Monday. This meant that I would be without heat in my house for 3 days and these days were predicted to be some of the coldest of the season.
I inquired as to why someone could not get out to my house that day and was told they were booked. I was then told that I could pay an extra exorbitant price to have some one come out on Sunday to fill my tanks. I asked why I should have to pay since I had not changed the settings on my account and they should honor their commitment to their customers. I was told that it was their policy and they would be happy to service my gas needs if I wanted to pay the ridiculously exorbitant Sunday price or I would have to wait until the coming Monday - 2 more days away.
I decided to not pay the ridiculously exorbitant price for their screw up. I confined my dog and myself to my bedroom where I pulled a small electric heater from camping gear and sat as close as I could and tried to get warm using my blankets wrapped around both my dog and myself. It was a long 3 days and bitter cold nights. They did show up late Monday after 3:00 pm and filled my tanks.
My second incident was about a month later. The weather was still very cold and again my tanks went empty. When I called, Ferrellgas informed me that I had not called them to come and fill the tanks. I asked why I would have to do that as my account had been set up as "Keep Filled". I was informed that my account was set up for "Will Call". I told them of my conversation a month earlier and finding that the same setting had been on my account and that I had asked for it to be changed. I was told that obviously I had not requested the account change or it would have been in the computer. So I shared a few choice words with the Ferrellgas representative and asked again for my account to be changed to "Keep Filled" instead of "Will Call". The person said they made the change.
I thanked them and asked when they could be out to fill my tanks. I was informed that one of their trucks was in the general area and they would have the truck at my house before dark. They did show up and found me in my bedroom with my little heater and blankets wrapped around my dog and myself trying to keep warm. I did not have any more or new issues for some time. My tanks were filed often. Almost too often but thought it was better to have gas than not... So did not complain!!!
January - February 2017, I am currently moving into a new house and called Ferrellgas as I started to pack and informed them of my planned move and asked them to change the status on my account to "not fill" my tanks as I am packing to move and do not want them to fill my tanks and charge me for gas that I will not be using. I had not seen a bill on my front gate, which was their normal way of letting me know they had filled my tanks, but was told they had filled my tanks two days ago. I told them I did not have a bill and gave them my new address to send the bill too. I am still waiting for the bill. I had to go back to the old house to pack some more items and turned on the heater in the old house... nothing happened. I went outside to check my tanks and they were both full however the valves had been disconnected from the house and the tank valve had a locked cover and the pipes had been twisted to not connect to the cylinders.
I called Ferrellgas Inquiring as to why my tanks had been disconnected and locked. I was told that when I gave them my new address that was the signal in their system to lock the tanks so they can not be used. I told them I still own the house and am working there periodically packing and moving boxes and I need the gas to heat the house while I work there. I asked them to get someone out today (the day of this contact), to hook up my gas again so that I do not freeze while I am moving. I was told they would see what they could do.
I then received a call about an hour later asking me to call them about the balance due on the account. I called and was told that I had to pay the balance due before they would come out and reconnect the gas. I told them this was blackmail as I had not officially stopped the service just the filling of the tanks until after the house is sold and the new owners could set up their account.
I was told I had to pay the amount due prior to them coming out to correct their screwy policy. I asked why they did not tell me this would happen when I called to stop the filling of my tanks. And all they would say it is their policy once they receive a new mailing address to lock the tanks so they can not be used. I told them ok. I would be filing a dispute and hung up. I have heard many really bad stories about Ferrellgas from neighbors and friends and now I have my own to add. If I ever decide to live on propane again... Ferrellgas will be my last choice!!! Buyer beware of Ferrellgas!

I bought a home in Brookings, Oregon which had a 200 gallon propane tank which was owned by Ferrellgas. Our home had two instant hot water heaters and a stove top which used propane gas. One of the instant hot water heaters for our master bedroom went out and needed to be replaced. It was so expensive we decided to switch over to a hybrid electric hot water heater for the entire house, and the hot water tank was put into the garage. This left only the propane tank use for the gas stove top.
We decided to go all electric and change the gas stove top to an electric stove top. This is when I called Ferrellgas to have them pick up the 200 gallon propane tank. The tank was 70% full, and they only fill them to 80% full when they fill them up. I was told by Ferrellgas that I would receive a check for the remaining propane in the tank: $232.36. However, they would have to charge a pick up fee of $85.99. They sent me an updated billing summary. I was surprised to see a pump out fee of $79.99 which left a credit of $66.38.
I called them and asked them about this pump out fee, and the lady at Ferrellgas started making excuses, and told me that the guys spent time digging out the propane tank. I told her I was standing there and it did not take longer than 10 - 15 minutes to remove the tank and put it in there truck. Isn't that included in the original pick up fee of $85.99? Of course, it should be. After this, I asked her when I could expect the check for $66.38 from the original $232.36. She was not sure, but she did mention that she wanted to check to see if there was going to be anymore deductions from the $66.38 before they sent my refund.
She said she would call me back and let me know. I gave her my telephone number, but she never called back at all. Now, I will have to call back to see if I receive any refund of $66.38 for my $232.36 worth of propane. Sad. Whether, or not this is policy for the company, it is a bad policy for the consumer. I can understand the pick up fee, but not the pump out fee, and not the obvious runaround they are giving me for $66.38. I cannot recommend this company to anyone, and my suggestion to anyone is to buy there own tank, and find a different company to buy their propane from. Ferrellgas is a company you cannot trust.

I called my local office to get a fill, but I need to see if they would fill up my tank before my pledge came through from EAP for low income and disabled people. Well they said they could not fill my tank till they received my pledge so I call the person handling EAP, ask if they could expedite my applications. At first she said no but then they said yes at EAP. So I called my gas company told them I was approved for 900.00 dollars, well this is when things hit the fan. The lady from EAP spoke with them the next day. They came and filled my tank and hit me with a 150.00 next day fill price. I complained my gas then said that's on the state is paying for it!!! I said "that not right did you tell the EAP about the charge?" She said no then a few days later I get a letter saying that they won't do business with me and I have 10 days to get a gas company. All because I questioned a charge. I can't believe they can get away with it.

My parents have owned and used Ferrellgas for over 35 years. Once was AmeriGas whom Ferrellgas purchased. The tank was original with the house. So many of my friends had owned their tanks allowing them to get competitive rates in the gas market. Ferrell had monopolized the area for decades making customers pay the price they were asking. My parents were on a auto-fill plan which is an OK way of doing things, but I wanted more control of how and when the tank was filled so I called and had the auto-fill cancelled and went on will call, supposedly agreed upon. I requested a price on the used tank (over 35 yrs old) and they came back with a 500.00 price, and they indicated that was paid in full price.
I told them next month I'd be buying it to avoid the 1.25 per gallon charge for renting it. In a week, they filled the tank to the max from an 1/2 empty state which was almost 900.00 after tax and fees. Since I had taken the account off of the level pay to get rid of the auto-fill, they sent me a bill of the balance owed on the auto-fill and the new charges that were around 1500.00. Mad about it I called and complained and they told me tough luck that I shouldn't of changed the account and it was my fault. And I asked them why they filled the tank when I was off of auto-fill and they said it was an error on their end.
I asked them to remove the gas they had put in and credit my bill and they said they would for $350.00, and they would have to empty the whole tank and I'd lose my balance of gas of 250 gallons. So I just paid the bill and told them to cancel the account altogether. I called again to get the price on the tank and the new price was around 650 with tax. So I paid it and they sent me a bill of sale in my father's name, not mine. 2 years later, they called my father by Collections for a 46.00 bill balance for something we don't know for because the bill was paid in full and the tank was paid in full. Many requests to return to them, but no bill, no past due notice, no call. This to me is dirty business and I will never go back to them.

I had set up payment arrangements with Ferrellgas. After making several payments of 300.00 on a prepaid card, they told me I had two payments returned which never happened as I have my statements. And they were charging me 7.00 a gallon. Now, they have disconnected my propane which I use for heat/cooking. In Wisconsin, it is illegal for utilities to shut you off from Nov. 1st to April 15th. I contacted them and told them this and they said the law doesn't apply to them since propane is a commodity.

My girlfriend kept reminding me to call and get my propane tank filled. She then said she would call. We looked at the tank and it was 5% full. She called Ferrellgas for me and said, "Fill it" and they asked us to leave a blank check, which we did. I then come home to find they put 100 gallons in and the driver filled in the check at 1.08 a gallon. I checked the tank it was now 30% full. So I called Preston in Grass Valley at Ferrellgas and she stated I called and said to put in 100 gallons. I reminded her that my girlfriend called this in and she said my girlfriend told her it was 50% full and it needed 100 gallons. How would my girlfriend know that 50% is 100 gallons, as it is not, she would not.
So I call Ferrellgas corporate and they say the propane is now 1.25 a gallon and she had her own set of stories about who ordered this tank fill. I reminded her this is the 21 century and these new things called computers that give us the ability to write customer notes and then she went through the same story about my girlfriend as the other troll we spoke with. Needless to say, Suburban Propane is cheaper, offers the same discounts, and will be out tomorrow to change the tanks and hopefully offer us a much higher standard of professionalism and honesty.

Ferrellgas had someone come to my house, paint my tank and apply their name on it. I called to find out why and they said the tank had belonged to the old company and it now belonged to them. For 8 years I have fought with them to prove ownership to me and they have not been able to. Now this year they are charging a full Dollar more than anyone else in this area. No compensation for on call every other week, then if you get a call they shorten your week to avoid overtime. Gave 2 1/2 weeks notice and they shorted me 58 hours of sick/personal time after promising to pay for it. Better off without them even though they screwed me! This time they said we had to pay the whole balance at once in order to get back on auto pay. They said that we just paid over the phone w/ our debit, and that they do not have our bank info, which is complete BS. My wife and I have each told them that we wanted them to do the auto pay and confirmed it with their customer service rep each time. It is very worrisome that they keep losing our account info.

I have been a customer of Ferrellgas for many years. I have never been late with payments, in fact, I often prepaid a full year in advance. For the past year, things have gotten quite awful. In January 2013, Ferrellgas allowed my LP gas tank to go empty, in spite of my being registered in their keep-filled program. They charged me over $4.00 per gallon to fill my 800 gallon tank. Unbelievably, they allowed my tank to go empty a second time twelve months later. I decided to research other LP gas companies in my area and found one that charges a much lower rate than Ferrellgas and serves the customers' best interests far better than Ferrellgas.
I chose to switch companies, did not renew my account with Ferrellgas, and had the new company replace the Ferrellgas tank with theirs. They moved the old tank to the front of my property and I called Ferrellgas to inform them of my cancellation. That was over a month ago, and the tank is still sitting in my front yard, ruining my grass and the appearance of my property. I have made numerous calls, first requesting and finally demanding they come and pick the tank up, and have been told repeatedly that they don't schedule pick-ups.
According to them, pick-ups occur only when they have some worker in the area doing other work. I am at my wit's end and furious over this abuse. Not only do they over-charge for the LP gas they sell, they fail to properly service well-paying customers, and then totally disregard their own responsibilities in doing business. I strongly urge any person who needs to rely on an LP company... DO NOT go with Ferrellgas.

They changed the delivery date repeatedly and made it out like I was the crazy one.
Then when we dropped them, they had the nerve to bill us for things that we didn't sign for. After being with Ferrellgas for 11 years at my cottage on a keep full basis, they didn't bother to fill my tank during the coldest winter we ever had (2014). They filled it in November and then never put in any more fuel until February. The tank was empty. I gave the driver my key code over the phone. When he went in, the pipes had all burst and the place was flooded! I had over $30,000 worth of damage and a full year later, the work still isn't finished. We lost use of our cottage for a full year, lost some of our furniture and appliances, and ended up with a lot of mold. This was the first year that I didn't sign a contract for a locked in fuel price.
Ferrellgas waited until the price of propane went way, way up before showing up to fill the tank, to make sure I paid the highest possible price for the largest possible amount of fuel. Then, the following month, when the price was still at its highest, they put another $900 worth of fuel in the tank when I wouldn't need the heat any more till the next winter.
They are liars. They deny that the driver found my tank empty and claim that I called to say that I let the propane run out. They won't even admit that the driver made the delivery. They mailed me a tiny pamphlet with small print saying that even if you sign up for "keep full", they don't have to keep it full. Now they are threatening me with ruining my credit. The empty tank is still sitting there next to the wonderful new company I have switched to. This is a terrible, dishonest company!

We started to really conserve our consumption since I have experienced long delivery times with Ferrellgas in the past. Recently my husband and I were out of the country for a little more than a month in January and February of 2015. We assumed that we had plenty of propane to get us through the winter but with the severe cold our house sitter used more propane than we had planned for. When we returned we discovered that we only had about 10% propane left and called Ferrell Gas Company on a Monday, now out of propane for three days. We assumed, this being an emergency with -20 temps. that they would deliver either that day or the next. We were first told that it would be weeks before they could deliver and they would try to see if it could be sooner.
Propane is our primary heat source and for hot water and cooking. They never called back so my husband called late in the day and was told that they might be able to deliver on Wednesday, which would be 5 days without heat in a 20-year old house. We have now had to get up every 2 hrs. to feed the wood stove, use several small electric heaters and hair dryers to keep our pipes from freezing, wearing coats and hats in the house because it was so cold, for 5 days. We have had service with this company since 11/2011 with nothing but continual problems. When we had signed up for service, while purchasing our home, I was advised that the company would come out and check our tank for refills. In the summer of 2011, we ran completely out of gas because we hadn't checked it. When I called to schedule a refill I was advised that I would just have to be put on the schedule & they would come within 7 days. I had to ask for a supervisor in order for it to be marked as urgent. When I asked my I was given incorrect information about the auto-delivery - I was advised they didn't know what the 1st representative advised me of that and that & that in order to add it I would have to pay extra each time and that it would just be deducted from my bank account but that it wasn't on any sort of schedule, just whenever they filled the tank.
On 12/1/13, I placed an order online, when we were at 30%. In addition I asked for a call prior to delivery so that I would know how much it was for the fill - when the Representative called me 2 days after my order was placed, she advised that it would be up to 7 days before they delivered it. On 12/20/13, my husband checked the tank, because they hadn't delivered anything yet and we were at 10%. When I called to check on it they advised that my delivery was scheduled for 12/23/13. When I questioned why it was taking so long I was advised they had pushed my order past the 7 days because there wasn't going to be a truck in my area till then. Most recently, I placed an order online almost 2 weeks ago - when we hadn't received a delivery I called to check the status and was advised that my order didn't go through. The representative advised that she would note that we were at around 5% so the truck would come ASAP.
When we didn't get the order the next day by noon, I called and was advised that they didn't know why the rep. told me that because in order to mark it as urgent they have to get supervisor approval and the rep from the day before wasn't working so they couldn't ask her. Then the incredibly rude rep. asked if I wanted to be put on hold so she could check with her supervisor. After being on hold for some time, I was transferred without any introduction to the supervisor, Katie. She stated she was emailing the delivery service about moving us up. I confirmed with her that it would that day (Friday) or Monday and she stated Yes.
On Monday and lunch when my husband confirmed we didn't have a fill, I called and was advised that our scheduled delivery date was on 2/18/15 (Wednesday). I asked what is the point of "marking it as urgent" if it still takes them 6 days after the 2nd notification. I then had them changed my order to the minimum and advised that I would be calling around to have a new supplier and asked what I needed to do to cancel my service. The rep. advised that I just needed to call once the new company hooked up my tank so they could pick up the Ferrellgas tank and that pick ups are a last priority. Clearly everything with this company is last priority.
When I called today to cancel my delivery because I found a wonderful new company that is delivery within 2 days of me calling, because temps are currently below freezing, I was greeted with the same horrific customer service that I have always been given. The rep. asked why I was cancelling & I advised that I was going with a new company. I was then advised that my new company should have send a letter to Ferrellgas, asking for permission to disconnect the lines. I did advise that when I called the previous day and asked how to cancel my service - I wasn't advised that any letter needed to be send. She stated she would note my account. When I called my new company about setting up coverage, rep. advised that I wasn't the 1st person with the last month that had this same problem & left Ferrellgas. In additional to horrible customer service, Ferrellgas are thefts, charging over $.50 more than ours in my area.

They had a truck delivering to an adjoining property today, and I spoke with the driver. He refused to fill the tank, with their tag on it, because he didn't have a work order.
I called the company 800 number and the lady told me she would contact driver, and have the tank filled, after confirming that it was their responsibility due to the "keep full" clause. I am so upset with Ferrellgas, Neville Island, Pittsburgh, PA. They have allowed our propane to drop down below 5% and the temperature is in the teens. We use the propane to heat our home and water. The driver we had must have retired or quit, because he was always prompt and came up our driveway in the winter with no complaint or issues. Over the past year, my husband and I have noticed that during the winter months, we are neglected to receive propane in a timely manner. We live up in the woods, but our driveway is not steep, it is long, but level at the bottom and then turns into a small slope. This new driver always complains that he can't get up our driveway, but yet my husband plows it with our Kubota all the time in the winter when he is not away on business.
My husband was called to go out of town on business the past two weeks for a few days each week. He plowed the driveway before he left each time and called Ferrell in Neville Island two weeks ago to tell them our propane was at 25% and the person told him that we were on the schedule for last week or this week. He told them the driveway was plowed, but knowing the pattern these past two winters, he knew they would wait for us to get more snow, he would not be home to plow and they would tell us they made the attempt but would leave and not fill our propane tank. Sunday, my husband used the Kubota again before he left to go out of town.
Of course after he leaves that afternoon, we receive the predicted snow and ice storm, so that evening our 17 year old twins went out to shovel our 500 foot driveway. They were outside for a long time in the cold, freezing temperatures. I even stopped to buy ten bags of salt that the kids and I scattered down along each side of the driveway, because we were told someone would be coming the next day. We made every preparation necessary for their driver to get up our driveway. At 5:00 PM on the day I was told someone would be here, I had not heard from them. I work from home two days a week and was home that day. I would have heard them had they been trying to come up our driveway.
Not to mention our greyhounds can even hear the school bus pull up at the bottom of our driveway and they bark. They can hear vehicles clear at the bottom of the driveway and they always alert me that someone is here. They bark at the slightest noise they hear outside and run to the window that looks down our driveway. I bring up this point, because when I called, the lady told me her driver said he tried getting up our driveway for three hours.....really???? I know that is a lie, because I was at home with my greyhounds and we didn't hear a peep. She also said that the guy slid off our driveway. After our phone call, I drove down the driveway looking for dual tire marks in the dusting of snow, there were none. There were also no marks going off the driveway anywhere showing no indication that anyone slid or skid.
When there is snow on the ground, don't tell people you came up their driveway, they can tell by the tire marks that you did not. I believe the driver didn't even make an attempt to come up our driveway and that he is lying to his employer. Not to mention, our children can get up and down our driveway in Grand Am's, Hyundai Sonatas and Ford Fusions without any problem. That same day, a person came by to pick up one of our cars and take it to his garage to be repaired and he had no problem getting up and down the driveway and someone from an Insurance Company came by same day and she got up and down our driveway. Then the lady on the phone proceeded to tell me while I was in panic mode for good reason (afraid of losing heat in our home), that if I didn't calm down, she would drop the call-hang up on me.
I was only telling her that they were lying to me, but she wouldn't hear it and her tone was telling me that she didn't care, so of course I was upset! Then she told me that their drivers had already made several attempts to come up our driveway and that is not the truth either, because when our propane had dropped to 15% and I called and spoke with a supervisor (between me and my husband, we made quite a few calls this past week to alert them our propane was dropping in percentage) and she said they would deliver to us today and was surprised to hear that our propane was so low. She never mentioned anyone making attempts to come fill our tank. The lady also told me that if their driver made one more attempt to come to our home and unable to get up our driveway, they would charge us a $75 service fee.
What kind of customer service is this to treat customers this way when we have done everything on our end to prepare our driveway for their driver? Today my husband called again and told them we were having ten ton of gravel delivered in hopes that this would make it even easier yet for them to come up our driveway and not have any reason or excuse not to. The delivery came today ($300 later). Can you believe, the lady told him that if we got the gravel that they would send a driver out tomorrow. When he called to tell her that the gravel was delivered, she said they no longer can come tomorrow, they will come two days later!!! Why after 20 years of paying them for their service, living in the same house and never having any complaints or issues with our propane service or complaints about our driveway from drivers, they all the sudden are having issues with our driveway??
We are not doing anything any different. I don’t know what more we can do. We maintain our driveway, we can't help it that they allow customer's propane percentages to drop drastically and wait for snow and ice storms and then tell you they can't deliver up your driveway when they had plenty of days where the driveway was in good shape. This is unheard of, today we are below at 5% and I was dragging out space heaters to prepare for when we drop to 0%. Would your company allow a customer to lose their heat in their home, especially when they have children and animals. Do you want to be known for this type of cruelty? I was terribly angry with her, had made many attempts to speak kindly to their staff this week when I felt panic stricken that the propane was dropping drastically in numbers.
This person's tone was inappropriate. She didn't care and that went right through me, especially when I am being told delivery attempts have been made and I know that is not true and on top of it she threatens to hang up on me and charge us a service call fee of $75. Why are they giving us such a difficult time? Who wouldn’t be angry when you are up against losing your heat when the temperature is in the teens and you made several attempts to notify them and they never came when the weather was decent, they wait for an ice storm and then complain that they can't get up your driveway? Plus we will lose our heated water. I have resorted to not using my dishwasher or washing clothes with hot water to save propane. I have to stay home from work tomorrow the rest of the week to run space heaters to preserve propane and heat.
I can't continue to pay someone to treat me and my family so poorly. I have spent all evening contacting appropriate sources regarding this matter. I hate to be the person to resort to online complaints, but this is terrible. I work with customers all the time. They may not always be right, but anymore, I notice how much companies have forgotten to treat their paying customers with respect. It is not about the customer these days, it is about the stingy company and the mighty dollar. They don't care these days if your needs aren't being met. Why would a large company care, they have other paying customers. They shouldn't get too big of themselves, I see a lot of these same complaint out there and hopefully in the future, all these complaints will warn other customers to stay away from Ferrellgas and their number and profit will decrease and then they won't be so big of themselves!!!
This is why we have online sources these days so we can reach out to other customers, so they don't choose services like Ferrellgas. You are putting us in danger and we have good reason to be very angry. If we run out of propane, our house will be frigid, our pipes will freeze, our children and rescued greyhounds will be terribly cold. People die in cold weather, what is wrong with you???? You are putting our family and pets in danger. I want everyone to know how you treated us. Yes, I was mad, but this time in my life, I do not regret for one moment being angry with the person over the phone.
I am a kind person, I always want to treat others the way I want to be treated, but you had no regard for the well being of me and my family and you know that allowing us to get below 5% when you are our only source of heat is extremely dangerous. We will be out of propane all together before you ever get here! This is not a luxury service we are paying for, it is a necessary service and shame on you!!!

Ferrellgas is very a unorganized company. We bought a house. Needed to have the propane tank filled so we called around to the provider in the area. None of them said it was theirs. We had also called Ferrellgas and they also said they did not have a record of the tank being theirs. We then called our real estate agent and asked her if she know anything. She did not so she called the other agent of the previous owners to find out whose tank it was.
Long story short it turned out to be ferrellgas's tank so I called Ferrellgas back and told them that it was their tank. We were being honest about the situation... and they have been nothing but difficult to work with. They take forever to fill your tank when asked and we had a leak and it took them more then 2 weeks to fix it. We then decide to switch providers and they want to charge us to pick up "their tank." We have to pay for the gas and rent but they want to charge us for their property. I'm so irritated.

After failing to auto debit our bank account for our bill as we had arranged, they apparently stopped our "keep full" status with automatic deliveries. So on Super Bowl Sunday with friends over to watch the game we noticed around 4:00 that it was getting a little chilly. My husband went out to check the tanks since they pretty much never turn all 3 daisy-chained tanks back on the way they should and we were out of propane.
We called Farrell Gas and found out that they had messed up the account and our auto-fill... They demanded we pay the bill in full, which we did. They then (after confirming our new $0 balance due) told us that they weren't doing any emergency fills because of the impending storm (despite the fact it wasn't due to start snowing for about 12 hours). When we told them we had a baby in the house and we were worried about the pipes freezing they told us to winterize the house and go to a hotel. We'll be spending our snow day finding a new provider. I wouldn't use Ferrell if they were the last propane company on the planet.

On 12/1/14 we had Ferrellgas fill our 2 120 tanks because last winter we had very serious problems getting them to fill the tank in a reasonable amount of time. On 1/7/15 we checked our tanks to see how much propane we had used and the tanks were at 12% and 20% and we could smell propane. Ferrellgas sent a technician out who confirmed that one of the tanks was leaking. (Oh...the tanks were moved by Ferrellgas in August 2014 so all lines were installed by them). The technician said that our fill should get moved up on the list.
On 1/9/15 we called to see if there was delivery time/date scheduled and were notified that the leak was not their fault so the delivery would be the regular 5-7 days (which last winter meant 3 weeks.). I asked for a manager to call me back. Imagine when we get no return call. On Sunday, January 11, 2015, I call the emergency fill # because both tanks are now hovering just below 10%. We use propane to heat our 5 bedroom house, cook and dry clothes. I am told by the CSC that 10% will last us until Monday. She then tells me it will be $150 additional to send the truck out today. So, Ferrellgas is charging me an additional $150 on top of the cost of the propane for something that is the failure of their equipment. We are now stuck keeping them because we do not own our own tanks.

She said that when I get below 10% for me to call the office in Howell MI so they can set up a time to set a new tank. She also said that she would locate a 250-gallon tank and call me in a couple of days. NO call. I called them back today for them to set the tank because I'm under 5%. They said that the earliest they can set a tank would be January 20th 2015. Today is December 13, 2014. I will be out of heat. Why not be honest with me? She was then told it would be delivered by the 25th of November. Seems like a long time to fill the tank but we were happy it would be filled for Thanksgiving so we could use our fireplace (only gas device connected to the tank). My wife calls on the 24th to confirm that they would be out on Tuesday the 25th to fill the tank (they never showed). First thing Wednesday my wife calls and the woman said they would definitely be out by 4:00 p.m. on that day. Then she received a call Steven and he also confirmed they would be out by 4:00 p.m. Well, Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. NO delivery.
Now she 's angry as she wanted it for the fireplace, which it happen to be very cool those few days for Florida. She calls them again only for them to tell her they called her and left a message that they wouldn't be out that day. She never received a call. Now I'm angry and tell them to come get their tank. Friday comes and corporate tries to see if they can come out and fill the tank I told her tell them to come get their tank. It's now Wednesday 12-03-2014 and the tank has been picked up after they said it would take up to 30 days to get the tank. Instead I now have frozen pipes and only my anger and frustration to keep me warm at night. Nor have i received any calls back from them after leaving several phone messages and emails. Not even a single call to tell me they would miss the appointment and would like to set it up the following day. DO NOT USE THEM.. you'd be better off buying propane from a gas station or Menards. This is how they treat a new customer? And I was referred to them by an existing customer.... They maybe several customers short very soon.
I even called them the day of delivery an hour before the block of time agreed upon and all was set and good to go. The only thing their answering service could tell me was the employee was sick on Monday. I should have figured since hunting season started on Sat. Still unprofessional and not even a phone call on Monday or Tuesday while I had a friend rearrange her schedules to be there all day waiting. Left a message today for an after-hours manager to call me back since no one returned any of my phone calls in the past 2 days during normal hours. Shocking.... I'm still waiting for my call back. I placed a web order about two weeks in advance of any attempted delivery. I had to call to see if they had my order then make sure I was on the schedule. The first attempted delivery resulted in the driver leaving me a note saying he couldn't deliver because of the dog. On the note he said he couldn't call as the number was disconnected - a blatant lie! I called, rescheduled the delivery. Called on Wednesday morning to see if I was on the schedule, they said no.
Later that afternoon I get a call from the driver stating that he was trying to deliver but having a problem with the dog. He claimed that the dog had grabbed his pant leg (driver’s words)... keep in mind that this is not the first delivery ever made by Ferrell to my address with the dogs. I called the local number, the person who answered the phone started making claims that my dog had bit the driver and ripped a hole in his pants, then stated that the other driver had had problems too with the dog. After multiple deliveries to the house with the dogs there, it's interesting that if there were previous problems that I'm just hearing about it under these circumstances.
Finally, they lock me in for delivery on Friday - I will be at home. I call in the morning and confirm, "yes, I'm on the delivery schedule". Around 4, still no driver so I call again, yes... "you are on the delivery schedule". At 5pm still no driver so I call the after hours number. The woman tells me that the driver who had the issue with the dog had had a previous serious dog bite and was probably afraid to deliver, BUT, yes I was scheduled for a delivery today. She stated she would contact the on-call driver to see what was going on and would have him call me. He did, to advise me that he spoke with his manager and was told not to deliver here due to a vicious dog. If he did come out it would be an additional $200 unless the tank was empty. They had multiple opportunities to tell me that they would not deliver. What a ** thing to do to your (former) customer!!!

Williams Propane was bought out by Ferrellgas 2 yrs ago. I had been a customer of Williams for several years and they provided excellent service. My propane tank needed repair due to leakage (full tank of propane) about one yr ago and it took Ferrellgas over two weeks to repair their tank. By then all of the propane leaked out of the tank and I had to argue with them that I would not pay them to refill the tank again.
Three weeks ago I contacted them with inquiry about repairing my fireplace. I made the appointment, took the afternoon off from work and awaited their arrival. I'd also asked a friend to wait with me since I knew he understood how the propane fireplace works and did not want to be taken advantage of. The appointment time was scheduled between 1:00PM and 4:00 PM. I called at 4:30 when I did not hear from the repair person as promised. I was told that he/she would arrive in 20 minutes. After 40 minutes I called back and explained to Krista (ID **) the situation. She apologized and said she would deduct $20.00 from the final bill.
I explained to her that we had lost approx $350.00 for taking off the afternoon. The service charge just for arrival is $90.00 and that is also the hourly rate. After three calls she told me her manager authorized that no charge would be applied to the repair. I thanked her and she assured me someone would be at my house the next morning between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM. The next day at 10:30 AM still no call/no show from the repair person. I contacted Krista who assured me that after she contacted the boss in the Tallahassee area she would call me with an estimated time. Well, she never called.
I am very glad this was not an emergency situation. It's a shame when large corporations take over small business. I have called them and told them that I no longer want to utilize this company and to pick up the rental tank (half full of propane) and that I expected a refund of the unused gas. I wonder how long it will take them to pick up their property and provide a refund for the unused propane and prorated rental fee? I will be in contact should there be additional concerns or if this company refuses to provide a refund.

Back in May, I was bordering on needing another refill to our propane tank, but I hesitated doing so because we knew we would be moving within the next couple of months. When I called, the woman on the other end was pleasant, and said that if I refilled with them that I could have whatever remained pumped out of the tank upon our vacating the property. I was just to call them back and they would come out. Well, the time has come and last week I made the call. The first woman I spoke to was befuddled as to what I was even asking and asked to call me back later. When she didn't call back, I called again the next day and spoke to someone else. She too, was at a loss and very confused by my request. (Seriously, am I the only one who moves and wants their money back??)
I later get a voice message saying that they can comply with removing the leftover propane from the tank, but they are going to charge me $90 to do so. So I call back the following day and speak with a gentleman named Doug. He says the same thing, that in order to remove the propane, they have to charge me $90 for the driver's time. (Which you KNOW they are paying this poor man something like $12/hour to do.) I told Doug everything that transpired and that no one explained a $90 charge to pump the fuel out, otherwise I would NOT have refilled in May. I would have waited and hoped we had enough to make it through. He refused to reduce or eliminate the fee, so I told him I would make sure that everyone I know hears about the treatment and the lack of fulfilling their promises. Which, I did via Facebook, in person and even a tweet.
I'm an author with over 3,400 followers on Twitter, so I'm sure they weren't happy to read my tweet. Well, today I get a phone call from their customer service/social media team. The woman asks me the basic questions: What happened, did they explain to me the fee prior, did I sign a document, etc. After all that, she asks if I'm the author of ** (it's in my Twitter profile, so duh). I tell her yes. She then says (I KID YOU NOT!), "Why do you need propane anyway, then? Why don't you just burn the extra copies of your book you have laying around to keep warm, because I bet they aren't selling." Excuse me? First of all, thank you for validating my initial assessment that your customer service sucks. Secondly, what kind of customer service department allows this type of abuse?? Do they not want customers? So I urge anyone thinking about signing up with Ferrellgas to THINK AGAIN. There are plenty of other providers out there. Pick a better one!

I called to get fuel delivered and was told the delivery had to a "fill". Well I have a 330-gallon tank and a fill up is over a thousand dollars. When I first started a Ferrellgas I could get 150 gallons. Then the next year it was 165 gallons and now I'm told it will be a fill up. Do they care I can't afford it? Not at all. I suppose they will deliver my lower request of fuel with their added $50 or $75 extra deliver charge; I'm calling to find out tomorrow. And yeah, if they will do it I'm sure they will take my money tomorrow and deliver the fuel when they get around to it. With Ferrellgas, it's all about extra fees and making tons of money on the backs of people in need.
Also I'm on their locked-in price. I was quoted something like $2.79. This is supposed to lock me in all winter long into 2015. I asked how much was the price now in July when there is no real demand. I was quoted the $2.79 price again. NO SUMMER DISCOUNT FROM FERRELLGAS. Wholesale prices are now something like $1.30, that means they are adding $1.50 over wholesale plus all their stinking fees. I'll end paying well over $3.00 per gallon in JULY!!! I called Ferrellgas initially to have them check our regulator because last year FG had installed a faulty regulator that caused gas to surge and stop flow to my water heater. Thinking it was the water heater we changed the burner, the thermal couple; tried again and the bottom of the heater blew up, then we replaced the entire water heater. All this was a year ago, also last year when we finally called you to check the regulator, it turned out you had replaced it without telling me and the replacement was faulty.
So since that experience last year, we wanted to first rule out the regulator before we spent all that money again on the water heater. I started calling for someone to come check this out on Friday, May 30 (we had no hot water and still don't since), I was informed no one could come till sometime next week. This was unacceptable to me so I kept calling, finally someone came out Tuesday early evening. NOTE: I never complained of a gas smell, that was not the problem, but I was concerned if the regulator was not working properly that there might be a safety issue.
The first technician came out Tuesday evening, 6/3. He explained to me that it looked like the stop from the propane line to the water heater was turned off when he arrived, and that was why we're having trouble keeping the pilot lit. He said we needed or should get a valve we can turn on and off my hand rather than by wrench. He also said that in the off or on position of the old style stop, he still thought propane was coming out, but we had not smelt it before (I want to add that I want the VALVE to the tank checked).
Now I know, everyone here was nice and meant well, but we then proceeded to have a very dangerous problem on our hands that was not in anyway taken care of properly. From clerks telling me if it's inside, it's not FG's problem, but the tech came inside and checked the pressure on the water heater and turned the old stop on with a wrench, probably to try to light the pilot. He did not see that there was a newer valve that lead to the tank. I didn't know specifics of this as I am not rooting around at the bottom of my water heater and I don't know what all this stuff is anyway.
But after he left about an hour or two, maybe later, I began to notice the smell of gas. It got worse and worse so I called the FG emergency line. Then you sent another tech to double check, how I had shut off the valve at the tank (which I did while on the phone with one of your clerks, who was not very knowledgeable) correctly and that red switch to the water heater was off and he also shut off our stove. I said the last tech said we didn't have one you could turn on and off by hand, and this tech said "yes, you do right here." I am thinking dust or dog hair may have covered it previously and the first tech simply did not see it or feel for it.
So I call again in the morning because it was my understanding that someone from FG would come out today to check for leaks. I was NOT getting any response with this either. I went to town, came back and my daughter calls me while I'm in route saying the whole house really smells of gas, which didn't make sense since it had been like 10 hours since the night tech was there and all was supposedly off. Still no one from FG will come. So my friend who is a licensed plumber stopped by to take a look as I was freaking out, and the smell in the house was really heavy. He looked and told me the old stop was in the on position, and the red newer stop was turned off. The old stop lead up to the ceiling and on to the attic connecting to an open pipe that was no longer connected to anything, which my friend discovered when he went up into the attic. The attic was filled with propane!
So what happened was somehow, the first tech had to have accidentally left the old stop in the ON position and propane pumped up there all evening till I noticed the smell and called to have it shut off. The new tech checked the new stop, I am not sure if he moved the old stop in anyway, but the propane was supposedly off when he left. So the only deduction I can see is that the old stop was left on, propane collected all evening prior to my second call, the first tech did not see the new stop by accident. All in all, I feel that no one was thorough with a matter so very serious and my entire family could have all died last night.

Shortly after I purchased a "refurbished" tank, I had it refilled by another propane dealer (since their propane was much cheaper). About a month later, I began smelling propane. After calling a service technician, from Ferrellgas, I was told that the tank was full and it was very hot outside; and that the valve was just releasing pressure. I didn't think anything of it until it began doing it again this year at only 20% full. I contacted customer service and was told that the tank was sold "as is" and they are not responsible. It is my opinion that the tank was not refurbished as I was told, and now the relief valve is leaking. Besides, the fact that they will not honor their "refurbished" product, I have also lost about $200 worth of propane since it began off-gassing. Nothing I can do besides calling their service technician and paying them $75/hour to fix their crappy product. DO NOT BUY A USED TANK FROM FERRELLGAS!

On May 6, I received a letter from Ferrellgas stating that since I had not ordered propane in 18 months, they'd remove their tank (that I rent). The 330 gal tank was here when we bought the house, at which time it had a gas furnace. We changed to a heat pump, so it's only used for gas logs now and we don't use much gas. Although we did have it filled at a cost of $600+ I called Ferrellgas on May 11, 2014 and explained this. The woman said if I kept the account open, I could be subject to a low-use fee. I asked how much it would be and when I'd be charged. She didn't know either answer. I told her I wouldn't agree to an unknown fee at an unknown time and said I'd close the account.
She told me there would be a $75 restocking fee for the gas that's remaining in the tank and said that if I agreed to have the tank topped off before fall, she'd note my account and I would not be charged the fee. I agreed. On May 20, I received an invoice from Ferrellgas for a $99 low use fee that was charged on May 13 - two days after I called and asked to close the account if it would be subject to such a fee! I called Ferrellgas on May 20 and spoke with Sherry, who said my account was noted that I called May 11 and that I agreed to have the tank topped off before fall, but there was nothing saying I wouldn't be charged the low use fee. She said that without proper documentation, the charge would stand. I told her I wanted to close the account and be reimbursed for the gas remaining in the tank.
She said I could do that, but after they deducted the $75 restocking fee and the $99 low use fee, I wouldn't get anything back. This is a 330 gallon tank that's 70% full and propane is currently $2.49, so I should certainly be receiving a significant reimbursement. Furthermore, I refuse to pay the low use fee when I was just assured on May 11 that I would not be charged this fee if I placed an order by the end of the year. But she said it would automatically be deducted from my reimbursement and I wouldn't have a choice. I asked to speak with the woman who told me I would not be charged the fee (Cheryl) and she was unavailable. So I asked to speak with her manager and he was also unavailable. I left a voicemail, but he hasn't returned my call.
When I first filled the tank, there was not even a tank rental fee. When I was first charged that fee, I called and they said it was a new fee for people with low usage, so I've been paying that since. I never agreed to a low usage fee in addition. But to cancel the account, I would have been penalized $75. I don't think it's fair (and I question if it's legal) for them to unilaterally change an agreement and penalize a customer if they don't agree to the change. I called other providers in the area and while some have a modest tank rental charge or a modest low usage fee, none charge both. And the highest fee charged by a competitor is $60, while others charge neither tank rental nor low usage. I'd advise others to shop around and avoid Ferrellgas.

The rep told us that we should call them when the tank was less than 20% full. She told me that we still had 102 gallons on our contract. I told her that since they routinely fill the tank only twice per year, why this was necessary (they usually fill it a second time in late March). On April 7, I called to have the tank filled since it was below 20% and reminded them that I had 100+ gallons left on contract. I asked what the cost of propane was now and she told me $2.49. I said, "Fine. Give me the 100 gallons at contract price, plus 100 gallons at $2.49." A week later they came and the cost was $2.65 per gallon. They would not honor the contract and were not interested in giving me the propane for the $2.49 as quoted. I have contacted them via email twice and they have not responded. Next step is finding a new propane provider, since they quite obviously care nothing about their customers or honoring a contract.

This is probably the 5th time or so that we have run out of propane when we are supposed to be on a "keep full" contract. So I wake up to a freezing house, no hot water, and when I call they will probably say I have no such contract. Again. I really just want to switch propane companies.

I ordered propane and they took the money out of my account immediately. $5 per gallon, but would not deliver for 2 weeks. We ran out. It was too cold for my 86-year-old mother who was sitting next to an electric heater!! When they finally filled/delivered propane and lit the New Water Heater, they left the gas on with no flame! The Water Heater blew up, and the company basically said it is not our problem. The driver said there was water in the line. I paid 5 dollars a gallon for propane mixed with water!! Worse company, very dangerous people!

They never know who I am when I call. Their system is down half the time. They refuse to enroll me in autofill (and I have good credit). They won't be pinned down as to when the gas will be delivered (like an 8 day window). They have billed me for things I didn't get. They gouge me on prices - last month a local competitor was charging $3.19 a gallon, they wanted $4.46!! So when I told them what their competitors were charging they reluctantly reduced their price (just that one time). So I finally got wise and switched vendors. Okay - NOW they will not refund me for the pro-rated tank lease, so I'm out about $50 there. PLUS they are charging me $90 to pick up THEIR TANK!!!! I don't even know if this stuff is legal, but what choice do I have? I am just livid.

I received notice earlier in the year that said I could lock the price in at under $2 a gallon (for a fee, in addition to the tank rental fee). But the notice also said I could lock the price in at a later date, although I don't think it specifically stated a $2 price guarantee. When I called Ferrellgas the price was over $4 a gallon. I didn't get the tank filled, and when it's empty all I want is for Ferrellgas to come pick it up.

Back in January, placed order for propane. Told me that it was $2.79/gl with minimum of 250 gl. When I first started using them it was a minimum of 200. Anyway, waited a week for them to deliver, called them, they said I had to pay them $1500.00 and they would bring me 80 gls! They told me several different stories about why it was by then $7.49/gl. Leaving pipeline, shortage because of the weather and then a employee in person said it was because of the overseas contracts get it at a cheap locked in price so we have to make up the difference. We were extremely low on propane so we took what little money we had and bought electric heaters so our family would stay warm and our pipes wouldn't freeze. I am going to have them come get their tank, but I was told they was going to charge me for that too.

I used to be a happy customer with a local gas company that Ferrellgas bought out. Once Ferrellgas took over, I became a "will call" customer instead of credit. I ran out of gas once and was told for an extra $150 I could get gas next day. I elected to wait because I felt that amount was robbery. I waited...and waited...and waited. I called several times and was never satisfied with any customer service experience. I asked that the tank be removed in order to go with a different company. I waited and was never put on a tank removal schedule, so ordered gas again only to wait an additional week. I was out of gas for a total of over 3 weeks. This winter has been harder than expected and we went thru the tank faster than ever before.
Again we ran out of gas and I'm stuck waiting the 7 business days and the customer service reps do not care. I asked if I could buy the tank that is in my backyard and was told they only sell new tanks and it would be spring before they would put me on the schedule to remove the old tank. What a racket! They don't care about the family that is suffering with space heaters and no hot water, afraid that the pipes will freeze. I would recommend that someone looking for service run as fast as they can from this company.

I ordered gas on 1/20/2014. I was not filled until 1/27/2014. The price was 6.26 per gal. This was the highest anyone in my area had heard of. The next highest here for the same day was 4.98 per gal. When I called, they just said that's the price. If they would have worked with me, I would not have bought a new 2000000 btu wood burner (that my Ins. co. approved) and a used tank that allows me to shop around for gas.

I became a Ferrellgas customer late last summer making the routine inquiries about getting a tank positioned into place, the pressure check of lines and online bill payment. The major defect with Ferrellgas is having to deal with a main office rather than visiting the local shop in your town. If you ask for help locally, you are directed elsewhere and it is like your request gets lost, delayed in delivery or... you have to keep calling them for action. The local guy is the Middle Man caught in a web of inefficiency and downright poor office management... Heating your home is serious and I no longer have trust in their competency to meet my need of reliable service. Please take the advice to ensure that the local business can process all your needs, it will save a lot of frustration and the middle man will be thankful too.

I became a new customer in December and this is the most difficult propane company I have ever had to deal with. They kept telling me they would set my tank the first of January and 14 days later they came out with a very rusty old tank that looks like it is about 80 years old, can hardly read the gauges. They need the money up front and then tell you it will take ten days many times it is over that time limit and meanwhile with the cold weather, you have to be concerned if you run out of propane. Also, I even called at 20%, and still no delivery, at the ten-day time period. Then, they don't tell you that the price you paid for is not the locked in price, so when they get there what you have paid for (they have used your money for ten days) may not be the gallons you get. This is such a price gouging situation. Please do not go with this company, it is a nightmare! Also, they will not do a contract with you in the winter months, it is called a service letter, but they will do a contract in the spring, summer months. Again, this has all the signs of price gouging.

Ferrellgas would not deliver propane to my residence in a timely manner, even though they were called days in advance and, later, were advised, via four separate contacts in three days, the tank gauge showed empty and could run empty any time. It was mid-winter, cold records were being broken, yet they were insensitive and unresponsive to my requests. Over the course of 8 days after my original call, the day my tank still had propane, they never would tell me when they had scheduled my delivery - ever. It just showed up. They kept saying ... "We can't give you a scheduled date for your called-in order" - only that it will be there no later than 10 calendar days. On the other hand, if you pay a $150 emergency-delivery fee, they said they could give me same-day delivery. So they really could give me a schedule date - if the price was right.
And what about this idea: if a truck was in my area, what about providing a few uncommitted gallons to get me by? The local Ferrellgas people never even suggested this "novel" idea. Instead, it was suggested to me by an out-of-the-area Ferrellgas employee after calling the Ferrellgas 1-(800) number. She even offered to email my local office, God bless her; but she called back shortly after receiving their reply, saying my local Ferrellgas couldn't help me - 10 calendar day is their policy - unless I pay the added $150 fee. Does this smack of Ferrellgas taking advantage of someone, or is it just me?

"Customer Service" is a first rate joke. They keep adding fees and taxes. They will even charge you for low usage. If you're renting the tank from them, you have no choice but to stay with them, regardless what they charge. By some "law" no one else will fill it. If you can, go with another company. This is the worst. They are the most expensive, and require a 100 gallon minimum which is well over $500.00. If you don't have it you're screwed. And they don't care what your situation is. Like for instance moving into a new home where Ferrellgas is your only option because you rented a house with their propane tank. You move in to discover the tank is empty, its freezing outside, everyone in the house including your little ones are getting sick because its cold and there is no heat. They don't care about getting someone out right away. If you have an extra $200 laying around they care enough to send an emergency fill. The people there are a taco short and every time I call for service I often wonder if the person on the phone "gets it" and if I will get service at all. Pathetic.
I will never rent another house that has a Ferrell tank again. Go with GM if you can. They are the cheapest, they can actually give you a date when they are coming out, and don't require you to pay $500 plus just to come out. I paid $285 for 100 gallons in December, now they want over $500. Read the complaints on the web, they are being accused of price gouging. I can do without propane from Ferrellgas. I'd rather take a cold shower than give those people another dime of mine. Moving out of this place and finding a place without a Ferrellgas tank.
This just in, I visited their Facebook page and posted my concerns of the price gouging and bad customer service, to notice a short time later, my comment was removed and I was blocked from posting anything else. You will find it odd, that not one comment on their page is negative, because they delete them. I have complained to the company, didn't do any good. So this morning I complained to every Tucson news station, an online complaint website, next.....Attorney General. All over the news, it states the East Coast has been pounded with outrageous winter weather. Ferrellgas claims their prices are so high because there is such a demand for propane because of the severe weather. Bull!!! I live near Tucson, when it comes to the weather, nothing has been going on here. So what's the excuse for price gouging us?

I tried to find out if they had any suggestions before scheduling a call and she said it sounded like a common problem, probably a regulator. Technician arrived 4 days later, 5 hours late. He moved a little of the stuff around in the fireplace, wiggled the pilot light, lit it and said that maybe a small piece of the fill was in the pipe, and them handed me a bill for $105.00. He was here 10 minutes max. Bill included a $9.99 fuel surcharge. He was not in the big delivery truck. This is so over the top. Can't imagine if I really would have had a problem. We had everything lined up to drop the tank yesterday and I called to confirm 2 times to make sure all was a go (which was confirmed) and then find out yesterday at 1pm, after I had scheduled a tank pickup from my existing company, with absolutely no feedback on what the plan was to address this issue. You said to me yesterday that you were going to fax me the form, I provided my fax number, and received nothing. I am quite disappointed with Ferrellgas. I scheduled the technician on the 27th of January to test the lines for my new heating system. Nice guy, gave me some pointers on things to be wary of including "Don't let them try to give you the current price for propane if they quoted you something different when you first started." The delivery for propane, I was told, the next day 28th. I got home at 6:30 pm didn't see any bill on the door, 30 minutes later the boiler shut down alerting me there was no propane. I went out and the tank was empty.
I phoned the emergency number, spoke with Joanne. She said there was no propane order entered. I told her that I was told that it was scheduled for today, she responded, "Well, we can give you an emergency delivery but there will be an extra fee." I said, "Why would there be an extra fee if I was told there was a delivery today?" She said there was no order. So then I said, "I have to pay extra for a clerical error?" She said, "There was no order." I told her again that I was told it was for today. Here's my thoughts of Ferrellgas: Poor customer service, no sensitivity I told her it was -7 outside and dropping not the slightest apologetic empathy. It appears this company has different interests than customers running out of propane with subzero temperatures.
I really am disappointed, and feel that this company abandoned me. Ferrellgas did not even recognize I was telling them I was told I was having a scheduled delivery and kept harping to me there was a "extra fee for a delivery" now. It's very sad that certain Ferrellgas staff have such a non-interest, and non-caring for people. I am a registered nurse that cares for patients that have severe medical issues. If I worked with another nurse that treated their patients like I have been treated with by Ferrellgas I would write that nurse up in a heartbeat.
Shame on you Ferrellgas! I hope you never have to deal with being in a situation like you have put me in. The temperature outside is now -12! I would like to charge you extra for my time off work to meet your technician and the time I've spent on the phone and writing this! As a matter of fact perhaps the clerk that told me the "delivery is the 28th." Somehow I think she'd be more careful in the future. RNs aren't cheap, and would never get away for long treating our patients in such an uncaring manner.

Last night, 1/27/14, they gave me 200 gallons. When the driver was leaving he gave me the bill. I was charged $6.16 a gallon not $2.89 as quoted. I called customer service, and they told me, that the $2.89 was not a locked in price, and I had to pay that day's price. I called 2 times and got the same response, so I have a bill for $1338.42, when I was expecting between $600.00 to $700.00. I have been a Ferrell customer for over 9 years, and whatever price I am quoted, is the price I pay.
I feel this is fraud, how can they charge me over double what they quoted me. How can the price increase that much in just 4 days? I was told by one customer service that the bill had to be paid in full within 60 days, or I would be turned over to collections. The 2nd customer service was not so harsh, and said that perhaps a payment plan could be worked out after 60 days. I do not think I have any recourse, or way to resolve this. The drivers indicated that although they are short staffed some days due to the inclement weather, they could still deliver if they received the ticket from the main office and were approved longer hours for delivery. The propane companies are now indicating a shortage of propane due to extreme cold. The company is usually slow to deliver on nice days. In addition, there is not that many propane companies and I believe there are restrictions as to where the company can deliver. Once the competition opens up we will get better service. I went out and checked my tank and the % was 0. I was scolded because I did not turn my order in before it got down to 30%. She said the delivery man would check my tank for a leak when he came to my house. He arrived on January 13 and did the checks. I did have a leak and he turned the tank off! He called the man that does the repairs and informed me he would be out to fix my tank in a couple of days and that the repairman would then contact him to come fill the tank.
After waiting 4 days for the repairman I contact Ferrellgas again to find out why the repairman had not arrived. They said their computer showed that I still had gas in my tank and they did not have him scheduled to come fix my tank. I told them the tank was empty and was turned off. This is a vacation home that we use every week or so but the drivers must keep a key for the gate since our primary residence is hours away. No problem for many years, then the local office was closed and the account monitored by Pittsburgh or in Ohio. Nobody ever knew us and trying to get information was very difficult. All of a sudden, the keys they had "stopped working" and I had to provide them with a new one. Arranging a delivery was excruciating and most often the scheduler seemed exasperated with us.
To be honest, we now have the phone number of the delivery man and the regional representative who have been nice though they don't do any of the scheduling. I follow the cabin with multiple cameras so I know when the snow is gone and delivery is possible, but they don't ever seem interested in any help I can offer. They just set up a tentative delivery from "now to Feb 20th" - almost 2 weeks - though our cabin is about 20 minutes from their Franklin home base. Most likely this will be our last delivery - I'll lock the tank so it cannot be refilled, run it down as much as I can - then switch to a different company - Klausen's near Cochranton, PA.

We ran out of propane this past Monday, 01/06/2014; called on Tuesday morning and requested a delivery, followed this up on Tuesday with a number of calls to see when there would be a delivery - needless to say no delivery on Tuesday. Called on Wednesday and repeated our request for a delivery, again followed this up with a number of calls and yes, you guessed it, no delivery. Thursday and Friday were replays of the previous two days, except for the assurances that a rep would return our call as to scheduling and delivery. It is now Saturday morning and no delivery; were told a rep will call us back. We won't hold our breath until that happens. Four important bits of info: (1) we are in a cooperative buying group - you would think that they would go out of their way to service a member of the group - not so, even after a call from the director of the group; (2) a term of the co-op is all bills are paid within 10 days of delivery, which we have faithfully done; (3) we are on automatic delivery when we ran out; and (4) Friday is the normal delivery date for our area. There is only one word to describe the treatment we have received - ATROCIOUS!!! Of course this all occurring on days when we experienced subzero temperatures.

I ordered gas 9 days ago, told them I was under 20%. They said it could take up to 9 days, but it would be much sooner. I said can I last that long. They assured me I would be okay. I ran out of gas Monday, wind chill -20, called them and was assured I on the 'DELIVERY SCHEDULE', I would have gas that day. Nothing. Called Tuesday morning. Again, "you are on the delivery schedule, you WILL definitely get gas today". It's freaking Weds. at 8:30 pm, still nothing. 5 phone calls today, each and every time I was assured the gas would be delivered today. I asked to speak to a manager and was told one would call me back shortly with an ETA of the delivery. That was at 10 am. He never called me. I called again, never swore or called anyone a name and the girl hung up on me!!!! Called back, got another girl. She again said I would be called back and that I was on the "DELIVERY SCHEDULE" for today. It's 8:30 pm, are you kidding me. I will dump Ferrell as soon as I can. I called Ferrellgas on Dec. 31, 2013 to have my tanks refilled. I had 20% in one tank 25% in two tanks and 10%in one tank. These are 100 gallon tanks. The 10% tank is on my work shop, not concerned with it. The other three are on my house. They told me it would be sometime around the 14th of Jan. I called back in 2 days and asked why it was going to be so long to get the gas. The woman told me I should have called when I was at 30%. I have never been told this before. I have been with them for 4 or 5 years and have always called and got gas in 3 or 4 days. On their web page, it lists rules for call to fill customers and it says 5 days for refill. I have almost a $600.00 credit on my account.
I have had to cut one heater off in my sunroom and hang up cover over an opening and close the door because the tank is below 10%. If it runs out they will charge $50.00 to test it for a leak. My other two tanks are at less than 20% and it has been record lows here for a couple of days. I have called back one other time and all they say is you called in on the 31st and it would be sometime around the 14th. I don't know what to do now. Hope you can help. Thank you. I have seen other complaints on the internet of other people having the same trouble.

(1/6/2014 Temp -8 F) I have been doing business with Ferrell Gas since I purchased my home back in November 2008. I was on automatic delivery for a long time until it seemed they were here every other week. I cancelled that and went to prepay. I am a 62-year-old disabled veteran. Last month I purchased gas from them, and after 9 business days, I ran out. This December 30, 2013, I order another 200 gallons, and once again they have not delivered saying rather glibly that I was not scheduled for a delivery until the 9th. Of course for the second straight month, I am out of gas. My house temperature is currently 40 degrees Fahrenheit as I write this. I found another gas company who just delivered a temporary tank of 26 gallons to help tide me over as a favor, and I have the Office for the Aging making inquiries with them. In addition I have discovered that the price I paid on December 30, will not be the final price. That will be determined on the date of delivery and based on Market prices at that time. I will discontinue using them.

Paid Ferrellgas $629.79 last Monday for delivery. We told them we were at 8%. They told us they would put us on the delivery schedule. On Thursday we called and asked them when we were going to get a delivery. They told us Monday. Now that is a week to get propane? When I called on Saturday they not only would not let me talk to a supervisor they hung up on me 3 times. They told me they have 5 business days to deliver. Now it's -3 outside and it is Monday 3pm and still no delivery. I called and they said that we are on the schedule for delivery today. Somewhere along the line Ferrellgas has forgotten about customer service and only care about the almighty dollar.
Unfortunately word of mouth is their best advertiser and from what I've read here today they don't have any kind of positive reputation. Anyone who is even thinking of switching propane companies DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER FERRELLGAS.. Besides having your money and making interest off of it they don't deliver any kind of customer service much less propane. I even call their corporate offices and got the same response. NONE.

I recently moved into a new home that had a Ferrel propane tank on it. The listing said that the tank was owned, but it wasn't so my realtor said that they would purchase the tank from the company. In the meantime I needed propane, so I placed an order in. I called back a couple weeks later to find out when the propane was coming, and no order was ever placed. I barely made it through the next two weeks until I got my propane. I called my realtor and he said that he was having trouble contacting anyone that could send him paperwork to purchase the tank.
A month or so later I needed propane again and was at 25%. I called in an order and then the next week found out that I was at 7% so I wouldn't make it to the two week delivery time. I called their emergency refill line, which is the same line you call for a gas leak and no one picked up for an hour. I called back later and waited a half an hour to make an emergency propane order. I asked the lady about the paperwork for the tank purchase and she said it was sent to the realtor. The next day I called my realtor and he said he never received any paperwork. He called Ferrel gas and they basically told him that it was none of his business and pretty much cursed him out.
I set up for a tank replacement with another gas company and called Ferrel gas to tell them that I wanted to cancel my order and for them to take the propane tank off of my property. The next day they filled up the tank after I cancelled my order and the new propane company was never able to install my new tank. They also charged my $100 for next day delivery and charged me $2.30 per gallon compared to $1.85 from the other company which works out to another $165 I have to pay for them not cancelling my order like I very specifically asked for.

It will be a week, unless I want to pay an extra $300.00... Gee let me think...NO! So now that it is going to be -15 tonight, I have space heaters running in hopes that my pipes, my dogs and myself don't freeze...
Of course, I could go stay with friends, that's what their customer service rep...Kayla from Bismarck, ND told me today! I have filed complaints with the ban, and have sent messages to local TV stations and newspapers. I am one customer who is not going to back down, they need to be held accountable for their actions. My experience with Ferrellgas has been horrible. They demand prepay after they run a credit check, force you to hand over hundreds of dollars before they will even put in an order for anything, then it takes weeks for delivery. In my case, they lied & lied again. Didn't show up on the day they told me they would, do not return phone calls, refuse to let you speak to a supervisor and while they have your $600 for weeks, and you & your children are freezing waiting for them to show up. This is my first experience with propane. I don't use my furnace much as I am on a very limited income, disabled. I supplement with a wood burning fireplace.
After the nightmare in October when I had my tank placed and weeks later filled, I was horrified yesterday that I was in the red zone on the gauge. I called in a panic knowing that I didn't have another $600 and asked what could be done... as we are at zero temps and buried in a foot of snow. NO order placing unless prepaid. order today and delivery could take as long as 14 days! Around the 27th of December. UNLESS you pay $125 additional for same day but they won't promise same day, or $50 extra for next day if they can make it. Pay the extra and maybe we can make it! If not, order, prepay and in 14 days we'll be there.
They lied to me so many times I'm afraid not to pay the extra to get them here, because 14 days will become much longer. I joined a CO-OP who uses Ferrell. Ferrell does not treat the co-op members well and complained to me that they have too many co-op members. They don't care if you're out of fuel, freezing or have children in the house. They decide what size tank you get and won't do a half fill. Yet they only fill to 80% I think. You pay weeks in advance. then they don't show. You pay for same day or next day but don't show. I don't know how they are allowed to do business this way. I am/was stuck with them for the time being but as soon as I can, I'm going to try and find another provider. If I don't freeze to death first.

I normally heat with wood boiler but I didn't have any wood this year so decided to go with propane. I have had a Ferrell gas tank here since 2009 for my water heater & range. I live in Northern MN. The temp outside right now is -9 without the wind chill. I had 200 gallons delivered a month ago but did not realize that it would go so fast. I ran out in the night. My house is freezing & I called @ 0830 for a delivery. I understand that they have to charge an emergency delivery fee. They told me it would be $199 emergency fee plus $30 for a pressure tank fee. I had no choice but to pay the extra $229 to be delivered today. It is 1:42 pm & I still have no heat. They said maybe by 5 or 6.
This company ropes you in with low prices & once they have you for a customer, they stick it to you. I can understand a fee for emergency delivery but $229. Really? Beware of getting sucked in with cheap prices in the beginning. They were jerks on the phone. I talked to 2 supervisors to complain of how high the emergency fee was. The lady that took my order was somewhat polite but the supervisors were not nice. Stick with a company that you know. I would not change to this company because once they have you, they will stick it to you. The supervisor said if you want fast delivery of a package, you pay fedex or UPS. I understand that but wouldn't $100 be more reasonable for emergency delivery. If I even get it today. Beware of this company PLEASE!

I have used Ferrellgas for over 20 years. Over the past 6 years, their customer service has been horrible. I ordered propane on Nov 11; today I am still waiting for a fill. I was told that my tank would be filled by Nov 21. I called and they were to call me back as to why it wasn't taken care of ~ no phone call back. I called again today to learn my dog was untied so I didn't get propane and I won't get it today either (it will be 20 degrees this weekend and I am almost out). I have to be put back on the schedule. I have had this problem in the past with them and had placed on my account to call 24 hours ahead of time so I can tie up the dog. Now this dog has no problems with the mailman, UPS, FedEx or any other person coming to my house. Apparently he just hates Ferrellgas. Actually they had a driver, Bruce, who delivered all the time without any dog issues. When he left, problems began. Customer service told me the driver can't call because he gets his run in the morning - well someone, somewhere has access to the schedule before that but perhaps they have no access to a phone.
One more thing, last spring I had a leak. Their service man came out and said he couldn't smell the propane, so I didn't have a leak. I mixed up water with soap and showed him the leak. He brought another person in to fix. The second guy, a repair man didn't have the equipment with him to fix. They red tagged my tank. So I went a weekend without propane (heat, cooking) because they don't work on the weekend. I am in the process of buying my own tank and using a different company.
By the way, the HAZMAT fee is their fee, that they keep, and they can charge whatever they want. This was told to me by Ferrellgas. So if you are in the fill program, they love you. Every time they show up, it's more money for them. I am not in the fill program, which I think is why they ignore me.

My mother passed away 3 years ago and had a tank rented from Ferrellgas. We called and told them that our mother had passed and asked what we would need to do about the service. In the beginning we thought that the tank was bought by my mother some time before she passed away. We found out, according to them the tank was rented because the tank that she owned had a leak in it. After we verified this, we started paying the annual tank rental. Well, last month the company removed the tank without notifying us that they were going to do so. The rental was paid for the year and there was still gas in the tank.
I called to inquire about the way this was handled, because we had been doing business with them for more than 20 years. I was told that it did not matter if the rental was paid, they could retrieve their property at any time. She was very unpleasant and unconcerned about the matter. I asked to speak to the manager and she sounded as if she was almost happy that I asked to speak to her manager. This told me that I would be wasting my time talking to the manager there. In reading the reviews for this company, I can only say that we need to find somewhere else to buy gas. Until it starts to hurt them financially, their attitudes will not change. So my suggestion to you is to buy your gas from another company, one that values their customers because Ferrellgas is not one of those companies.

Well, last Nov. 2012 I filled my tank, then 2 weeks later again? I said I was not using that much gas and there must be a problem leak? My house is only 850 sq. ft. and I close off all the bedrooms so there is just the hall and living room to get heat. I would use the wall heater an hour in the AM and a couple hrs. in the PM. I am on widow's benefits so money is tight. Well I got many excuses, if the tank is not full the gas goes faster, maybe I am really using more, perhaps it's my water heater, etc. Then in Dec and Jan 2 more double fills. I was then broke and have a bill of almost 900.00? My total was almost 2,000. I called them and begged for a gas leak check.
A guy finally came out and it was found outside underground. The guy said it was like running a gas dryer 24/7. So it's red tagged. My boyfriend dug a 50 foot trench from the house to the tank and found the break. Even the clay dirt is blackened by all the carbon from the leak. Thank God we didn't have an explosion. Now I need money to get it fixed before winter. I wash my hair in the hose and take sink baths and heat water in the microwave. I also care for my 85 year old mom. I feel I should not have to pay for gas that went into the ground for God knows how long when I complained each time I called for a fill up? I told them but they don't care. :( So now I look at a 50 foot trench every day and no money to fix it. I wonder if I can take them to small claims? I get daily calls from an automated service.

I had a similar experience as Mary in Ambridge. I got screwed by them before and wasn't playing any games this time. I had a score to settle. After trying to deal with their crap, I said it had to be gone in a week because the property was being sold. I never said I already bought the place or gave my name, just that I was at this address... Needless to say, they gave me the song and dance about charging to remove it, and the account at the address was closed so they needed a credit card to prepay for removal. I said, “No way. It's your junk, get it or I would have it dragged to the side of the road.” They said I couldn't, and I said it would be there on Friday evening when I leave the place. They never came by Friday, SO... I sold the tank to an old friend, who moved it to their camp and they said they were going to "retag" the tank somehow with a new serial number. My thought is the tank is gone. Let them call a cop and prove where it went. Just like calling someone who will haul it away for scrap.
A scrap dealer may not take it because it is owned by a company, however, there are always guys who clean up/haul scrap who would gladly cut it up with a torch or something knowing that most scrap yards don't care what it is or where it came from. I considered having it cut into pieces and letting it sit in the yard and playing stupid when they come in a month (if ever) to get it. But I figured a case of whiskey was worth more enjoyment than the look on the driver’s face when they see it. Besides, it's off my property. I was amazed that when I was last serviced by them, it was cheaper to own a few 100# tanks and fill them at the local truck stop than have a bulk delivery. I will not be screwed by them again, but I will keep my eyes open to stick it to them again.

When my wife and I moved from Dahlonega, GA, we left excess gas in our propane tank. Ferrellgas gave us a credit for the gas, but deducted almost $90 from the refund as a charge for "removing the tank." Months later, I drove by the old house and saw that the tank was still there, even though we paid to have it "removed." A month or so later, I received a bill from them for "equipment rental." When I questioned the bill, the charge was removed, but their explanation for billing me for removing the tank when they did not do so was, "DOT will not let us move the tank when there is gas still in it."
Why is there gas still in it when it was supposedly pumped out and credited to me? I asked what would happen if a new owner of the property wanted the tank removed. They said they would come to pump out the gas! This is a scam to suck money out of former customers for providing the "service" of tank removal, then leave the tank and expect that the next occupant will most likely use the tank that is in place (and thus buy propane from Ferrellgas rather than their competitors). They also will not top off a tank unless it is nearly empty, which means you get a single large bill once a year rather than a couple of smaller ones. Come this past November, when no one was home, a Ferrellgas employee came out to the house and shut off our tank. No note was left informing us of this. I came home to discover no heat. I was on the phone for about 3 hours trying to straighten this up.
The office people in Wisconsin are very rude. They told me that I would have to pay $350 to get it turned back on. I told them I was on a payment plan, but I guess that didn't matter. It took one week for someone to come back out and turn it on (that was another $95!). I have one more payment to make (in three days) and I am paid in full. It is now Jan. and the temp. is about 25 degrees and it's supposed to go into the single digits this weekend. We noticed that our tank has about enough propane to last us one night.
I called to see if someone could come out and fill it 1/2 full. They told me, "No, not until the last payment is made." I told them it is set up to be taken out of my account in three days. The very rude lady told me to call back in three days! I asked her if she could at least make an appointment seeing that it takes them a week or so for any service. She again told me no.

I ordered propane on Jan. 3rd. After four phone calls and several "we will definitely be there today" lies, they finally delivered my propane 12 days later on the 15th. I have four children in this house and their customer service people did not seem to care when I told them this. We rely on the propane to be there and by the time they finally delivered, the tank had run out and had been out for a few days. This made for a horrible and trying time in our house. Did Ferrell gas care? Nope. I own my tank and had paid for the gas in advance. There was no reason for the delivery to have taken this long. I don't care how busy they may be this time of year, but 12 days to deliver gas? No one is that busy, especially in these economic times.
I ordered from them because their price was cheaper but honestly, I would rather pay a little more per gallon upfront and get good timely customer service. So I will not order from Ferrellgas ever again. I don't care how cheap they sell their gas. The trouble they put you through is simply not worth it. I am typing this all in here in the hopes that others will research this company online before doing business with them and then choose to stay away. Around the first of March 2012, the tank had not been picked up and I received a letter from Ferrellgas stating that I would be charged for tank rental for the coming year (as I recall, starting after 2/20/2012) (!), which was not acceptable to me since I already had another propane supplier. On 3/2/2012, I called their customer service number and advised them of this. Since the tank had been moved to my front yard for them to easily pick up, and I was not using it, I also advised them that they would be charged for storage of the tank on my property, in the hopes that this would encourage them to pick it up sooner.
Since I heard nothing from them, near the end of March, I sent a letter to their address at PO Box 1003, Liberty, Missouri, advising that they would be charged for storage of the propane tank and that charges would be in the amount of $25/month with a $5 courtesy fee for payments not made by the 20th of each month. The letter advised that if the tank were left for more than 180 days, it would be considered abandoned property and might be sold in lieu of payment. They were also told to write to arrange pickup, but that outstanding charges must be paid before pickup, and that trespass would be prosecuted.
Despite having been warned not to trespass after being given a more than reasonable time to pick up their propane tank (more than 30 days after termination of our agreement), their employee trespassed on my property on November 14, 2012, and attempted to pick up the propane tank without specific written permission from me and without paying storage fees. Their employee also took the pressure regulator off the propane tank and took it away in his truck. After he refused to pay for storage, I told him to leave my property and to have Ferrellgas write to me.
The propane tank had been sitting in my front yard for 268 days with no response or action from them. Storage fees for this period added up to $265. I consider this a small charge for having their tank sit in my front yard for nearly nine months. Had they disagreed with the charges, they could have contacted me much sooner. I have written to them again asking that they write to arrange pick up and stated that outstanding storage charges must be paid before pickup. I warned them to not enter my property again without specific, written permission. Anything else I would consider trespass.

I live in a trailer park and have used Ferrellgas since I have lived there (16 years). I have two 50-gallon cylinder tanks that were listed in my account as keep full. Well, last week, I completely ran out of propane. I called the company (on a weekend) and spoke to the service office, a very nice lady. She said she would have someone come over on Monday to give me full tanks. On Monday, I waited until noon then called the local office and explained what happened, but she had no knowledge or message that I had called the 800 number on the weekend and that someone was to come over and exchange the tanks. So she said, "I'll see what is going on and call you back." She called back about 20 minutes later and said, "We no longer do the cylinder exchange any longer." I said, "Thanks for letting me know sooner instead of waiting until I ran out of propane." Of course, she said she was sorry, but that didn't help my situation.
I am 68 years old with severe joint pains that get worse in the cold weather. My trailer was 49 degrees inside and no heat or hot water to take a shower and wash dishes. This is not a very good way to run a company, with no help or alternative solution. She did say, "Are the tanks 10 feet away from the home." I told her these trailers are right next to each other; of course, there isn't 10 feet distance from the trailer/s. I would then be next to the other trailer, which doesn't make sense. I have had propane service for 16 years and have no problem when using the furnace, stove, and hot water heater. I have a very good sense of smell and know how to turn off all the main gas valves, if need be. I do not leave the house with the heater on and my water heater is tankless, so it only goes on when turning on the hot water valve. Could you please assist me in this matter soon? I live in Northern California and we get snow and cold winters and it has been very cold lately. And with little or no insulation, at times it is colder inside than outside. Thank you for any help or advice you may give! I am not very happy about Ferrellgas!

I reported a propane gas leak at my home at 7:08 in the morning on Tuesday, October 16. It took them over two hours to show up. Here's a short version of what happened: I was leaving the house at 7 am and was overwhelmed with the smell of propane when I walked out my front door. I immediately came back inside to get the phone and told my husband to get dressed as I was certain we would have to evacuate. I called Ferrellgas and was told to close the doors and windows and stay inside, that a driver would be there. I asked how long, and she said it would be this morning before noon. I was quite taken aback by that timeline, but I did as I was told and brought my dogs up to the back deck as well. While waiting for them to arrive, I kept going out to check on my dogs and the smell was getting less and less.
An hour after my report to them, I called back to ask how much longer. She assured me someone would be out soon. I then got a call at about 8:20 am from a regional manager stating that he'd gotten an email at 7:50 am about the leak and was dispatching someone. At no point in time did anyone ask me to shut off the gas. It was nearly 9:00 in the morning when a driver showed up. He found there was indeed a leak, replaced the leaking regulator, and then showed my husband and I how to shut off the gas. He was surprised they didn't tell me to shut off the gas. I was told that it was unfortunate that I called between 7 and 8 as that's kind of a void for emergency response as the crews are arriving at the office but they are not ready to be dispatched.
I had called their emergency number, and there was no emergency response or even a heightened sense of alert. If I had not called back, I'm not sure they would have responded at all. The smell was strong at 7 am because of the regulator malfunction, spouting pressured gas into the atmosphere. It would dissipate and the smell would lessen, but it was still a dangerous situation. I've had service with them for 17 years and have never called the emergency line. I wasn't just a nuisance caller. I don't ever want this to happen to another family. I have tried to talk with them about it and they just apologized that I felt stress and didn't address the problem. The problem is there is no emergency response between 7 and 8 am in the morning. This could very well happen to another family, but apparently, there is nothing regulating how they handle a report for smell of gas. Their representative is apparently required to tell me how to shut off the gas but never said a word about it.

I purchased a house in April 2011. I did not move into the house until May 2012. There was a propane tank with gas in it. Basically, I purchased the gas when I purchased the house; I thought. When I finally contacted the company because of a gas leak, this was when I was informed that there is a $50 yearly rental fee. I decided to have the tank removed from my property. There is approximately 150 gallons of gas in the tank. Ferrellgas informed me that I would not get reimbursed for the gas because I did not pay for it. When I informed them that the gas came with the house, they then informed me that they were going to keep the gas in lieu of the $75 fee to remove the tank. I never signed a contract with Ferrellgas, plus they cannot tell me the last time gas was delivered to this address so they were going to dispose of the gas, not resale it. Is this protocol? Do they think me stupid?

I have had Ferrellgas for five years now, since I bought my house in the country. I filled my 500 gal tank when I moved in. Since then, I topped it off two years ago. I am a single dad living pay check to pay check. To help pay my bills, I use wood as a primary heating source. So I try to use very little propane to save money. Ferrellgas called me and left me a very rude message if I have checked my tank because I haven't bought any propane in two years. I called them back and explained my situation to the lady and said I'm still good at 55%.
She then told me my tank rental was going up then from $60 to $154 a year! She said they would get their money one way or another. This is wrong! I don't have the electric company calling me because I'm not using enough electricity and they're going to raise my rates! This is a scam and is wrong. We, as Americans, are supposed to do all we can to conserve on our energy usage. Long story short, the lady would not let me speak to the manager and she hung up on me. Wow! I'm switching to Titian.

I was a customer of Ferrellgas in 2010 through March 2011. That's when the contract ended. I own my own tank, so I called around in September 2011 to price shop. Suburban gave a better price, so I told Ferrell by telephone I was going with Suburban and no longer using Ferrell. They said they would match Suburban's price, but I told them I already signed a contract with Suburban and that I was staying with Suburban.
On December 19, 2011, Ferrell gas delivered gas to my tank without me knowing until I got a courtesy phone call from Ferrellgas which asked me how my service was. I let the lady who called know I was not their customer. I offered for them to remove the gas out of my tank but that I was not paying for it since I did not ask for it and I am also obligated to pay Suburban every month whether I get gas delivered or not. The lady from Ferrellgas refused to come back to get the gas.
Ferrell is claiming I am on a "keep full" status, but I am saying I called them and told them I am no longer their customer in September 2011 and that if they thought I was still their "keep full" customer, then why it took them from March 2011 until December 19, 2011 to bring me gas. Suburban had brought me gas 2 times in between March and December.
Ferrell is turning me over to a collection agency, but I should not be obligated to this bill. My parents are a customer of Ferrellgas, and they live in my neighborhood. They are on "keep full" but did not receive their gas in December. They had to call Ferrell and ask them to deliver gas to them. I believe they delivered the gas for my parents to my house in error. When I was a customer of theirs last year, they were constantly getting my account mixed up with my parents and I had to call them almost every month to get it straightened. I can fax my contract with Suburban that I signed and the contract Ferrell sent to me in August 2011 that I did not sign or send back. Please call me with a fax number, and I'll fax this right away.

The gauge on their tank was faulty and read 15%. However, the tank was empty. We called for delivery and were told it would take 5 days. They did come sooner, but we had disconnected the tank from the house. They would not reconnect if we’re not home and we were told we would have to pay $50 for leak meter (obviously disconnected) and $149 for complete check within the house. We moved their tank to the middle of the field for easy pickup and it was never hooked up. Now that it has been picked up, they have refunded us but keep more than $100 stating we used 20 gallons. Obviously, their tank and the gauges are defective. We never used any of the tanks. I got poor customer service twice since being their customer. Never again.

In late November 2011, I contacted Ferrellgas to set up an account and bring me a 250-gallon tank. The lady, Kim, told me if I do the keep full program they would lock me into a $2.50 price until spring. So she ran my credit, stated everything was good and my tank was delivered. When the delivery guy came to fill it up, he stated he put 60% in but had run out of propane. However, he said he would be back with the rest and would paint my tank. To my knowledge, he never returned. And I soon received a bill for almost $600.00, which to my calculations I was charged $3.50 per gallon and not the $2.50 price I was told.
No one came back to fill my tank in December or February. And by February 13, I was completely out of propane. When I called to ask why no one had filled it up, I was told I was never on the keep full list. My house is only 1500 sq. ft. My house is empty during most of the day and the thermostat is set on 60. I only have 2 appliances that run off propane and was confused as to why I was using so much propane. However, I paid my bill and ordered another 100 gallons since at the time I could not afford to pay to get the tank filled again.
So on January 16, they did deliver 100 gallons but said they don't know why I was quoted $2.50 a gallon because they aren't able to lock customers into a price. On February 16, I was out of gas yet again. When I called, I was told that ordering the 100 gallons took me off the keep full list (which I was supposedly never on in the first place). I was never informed it would remove me. So I told them to come get the tank and that the prices were outrageous and nothing on my account was right, including my name, which I had asked repeatedly for them to fix. I had my house checked for leaks by another company and was told everything was good on my end and was also told there is no way I should have gone through so much propane. So I emailed Ferrellgas telling my story and never got a response in 3 weeks.
I called again telling Kim all my frustrations. She kept blaming it on the weather and my house and then she said, “Well, maybe you don't know how the propane thing works.” Ha-ha-ha! I’ve had propane for the past 6 years honey, I know how it works. It took her over a week to get back to me just to tell me they had checked the tank and it’s fine so they want their money. Now, I know the tank isn't the only thing that could leak after they install it. Long story short, I was screwed out of a lot of money and propane and Ferrellgas refuses to try to make it right.

I contracted with Ferrellgas and locked in at $1.98 a gallon last year. After running empty, I switched to the "keep me full" plan. At that time I was told I was still locked in until spring, they then promptly started charging me the market rate for gas. I advised them several times that I could smell gas at the tank every time I checked it, but they said, “That is normal.”
Keep in mind that the policy is to leak check whenever the tank runs empty, which happened twice. Needless to say I canceled with them when they would not adjust my bill back down to the rate we had agreed upon. When the new company came to set my new tank, they advised me that the old one was leaking and they would replace the bad components. These people put my family in danger, and refused to even acknowledge there was a problem.

My balance was zero. I was to be checked upon twice a year, to see if I needed gas. One night (26 degrees and falling), as I went to make dinner, my pilot light on the stove wouldn't light. My blower on the heater was running longer than usual, but I was tired, and needed to start dinner. All of a sudden, I said "oh don't tell me my gas is out". I went outside to see the tank on empty. I called them to ask why this happened, and I needed someone out right away to put some gas in my tank, as it was going to be freezing later, and I needed heat. After talking with the answering service 5 times, and getting put on hold, or promising someone would call me back, I was freaking to think I was not going to have any heat. To my surprise, the truck pulled up, and I almost was going to kiss his feet.
I told him that I would be right back with my credit card, and he said, very ugly I may add, no cash, no gas! I retorted I do not have a balance and the company was supposed to fill my tank accordingly. He not only said I wasn't even getting 10 measly gallons, he said I was also going to pay $75.00 for having him come on an emergency call. Needless to say, I did not receive any gas, and if that guy is still working for them, that is their loss. Do not buy gas from Heritage. They are not only unreliable, but also rude to boot!

No problem as my daughter and her child were going to be moving in on the 6th. That evening, there is still no tank or gas.
Mon. morning, I called and talk to Claudia and she said they would have it delivered the tank and gas on the 1/10/12 (Tue.) and I needed to pay in advance ($170.13 this was charged to the card on 1/13/12) which I did on my dad's credit card which he authorized me to do. On the afternoon of the 10th, the driver came to fill the tank which my daughter hadn't received yet, the driver then went and got a tank (120 gal) with gas already in it, left no paperwork, no receipt, and nothing saying how much gas was in there or letting her know how to read it or anything.
On 1/19/12 (Wed), she was down to 24% so I called for more gas. Claudia took the order said I needed to pay in advance ($273.91 again on my dad's card and charged to the card on 1/20/12) and that the gas would be delivered on 1/24/12 (Tue.). No gas delivered. On 1/26/12 (Thur.), I called Claudia and asked them to come for their tank and to return the $273.91 to my dad’s card (Claudia said she would) as I will be going to another company.
On 1/26/12, the other company delivered, explained, left paperwork, and receipt of gas. On 2/2/12, money has not been returned to my dad's card. After years of being hypnotized into being green, I decided to junk my old 61% efficient oil burner. I went with a top of the line propane burner. Naturally I went online and started to research propane dealers. Ferrell Gas was the lesser of the evils with the amount of complaints; their price was not too bad either at $2.72 per gallon. My first fill up on a 200 g system was approx. 600 bucks. However, 2 months later my tanks dried up. They came out refilled at $4.04 a gallon; my bill was another 800 bucks! Two weeks later, today, they came out again and added 89 gallons--that’s another 375! First of all they are charging more than oil's going rate. This was the reason why I changed to propane in the first place; it has been historically cheaper than oil.
So I get on the phone with Ferrell and I explained to them that my neighbor just paid $2.20 per gallon and that their prices are outrageous. She wanted to lock me in at $3.99 a gallon. I had to laugh because on the last refill they tried to lock me in at $3.72 a gallon. Blackmail, I said! "Obviously, you’re not regulated." She said, “Correct, we can charge what we want.” Right now I am paying more for propane than I did with a 60-year old oil burner. Right now the average price for propane is $3.34 a gallon. Right now I’m just another ** middle class tax paying citizen who is getting ripped-off. I am looking to pay Ferrell Gas nearly $1000 a month for propane. Sadly that is the proper term for these dealers, as a whole the billing practices of all of the supply companies is atrocious to say the least. The Propane industry is the least regulated business in this country, and these companies use this fact to their advantage.
My advice to everyone posting here and anyone reading this having had some of the same experiences is to contact your elected government representatives and you State and Federal Attorney Generals. Don’t give up the fight. We also need to drive the Propane Lobby out of our government, check to see who has bankrolled your elected officials and chances are that the Propane Lobby has given these people thousands of dollars. Gas prices are higher than area suppliers, condescending/rude office workers.
Last year, I waited five days for a refill--very cold weather and dangerously low tank. I was guaranteed delivery in five days after asking for a refill that would cost $150 as the driver had left to start deliveries and no one else knew if we were on the route.
Another time, it took four days of waiting for a fill and was told the same: it would cost $150 to guaranty delivery as they had many calls to make during the cold spell. I was told they would change the contract of gas price for us to meet competitors'.
Yesterday, I went in to get a release on our tank to change suppliers. She asked why we were leaving Ferrell gas. I politely told her why. She told me "everyone negotiates their gas price." I told her to put a sign out front so all their customers know this, because we had Ferrell gas for five years and did not know we should be bartering a price. We've been customers of Ferrellgas for six years, and have never been satisfied by their service. We live in a homeowner association that mainly uses this service throughout the community. Today, I was so frustrated with the cavalier attitude that I have always received when I call for a fill. We are a COD customer, and only call when we run out. Now, we have to pay not only the annual tank rental cost (which went up again) worth $59 and the delivery cost of $19.98, but also a check tank fee of $29.99. This is all on top of the ever increasing price of propane (which is at an all-time high for us).
The gentleman on the phone explained to me (in a condescending tone) that I can just avoid the $29.99 fee if we had called before we run out. As I explained to him, we can only prepay and can only afford the gas at the first of the month when we can actually pay for it. I was told, "Well, (as if I didn't know this already) you can apply for credit and set up billing." Which will be denied again because they make more money off of us this way and are guaranteed our payment. Yeah, I know all about their scam. If there were any other propane companies that could give a better rate, I would happily switch. Ferrellgas is the worst company that I have ever dealt with in my life.

This story is a continued story for the past year. My tank is empty (120 gal). Trying to get gas has been very difficult dealing with the Bend, Oregon office. I have been treated very badly and hung up on more than once. Every year I have to call and tell them that the rental fee is wrong on my bill. I asked if they could bring me 50 gallons and they said yes but the price was unbelievably high so I declined to accept this price.
The next time I called, I asked for the price and then asked if I could get the 50 gallons. I was told that was a one time only offer. Over the past week, I received a phone call from Ferrellgas saying they are doing a promotion and would like to offer me a good deal on gas. I called today and talked to Tina and she tells me that gas is now $2.59 a gallon with a $19.98 delivery charge. So I asked her about filling it with 50 gallons. She tells me that with their system, they can only fill it a minimum of 75 gallons. Then I said, well, that is not correct because when I was on the auto service where they come and fill the tank without me having to call and knowing that I use about 50 gallons a year and when they came in the past to fill it. It was never 75 gallons or more.
I got a run around answer and then TINA said, "Can I help you with something?" Then with the nerve, hangs up the phone on me. The service or lack of service is unbelievable to me. I live in a neighborhood of about 100 homes. When they built the homes here, they automatically put in Ferrellgas tanks. I didn't question it but then in the last few months I have been talking to my neighbors and found out that most of them have changed gas companies. Ferrellgas will charge between $3.50 and $6 a gallon. If you don't ask, you get the VERY HIGH price. Rip off! I guess it's time to change gas companies.

I have called three times in 10 days to have my propane tank refilled. I explained that we are senior citizens and my husband and I have rheumatoid arthritis. The temperature outside is 24 degrees. They said that they would not deliver on a snow-covered driveway, so I paid $100 to have my driveway cleared--still, no propane. I called again and was told that I would have to pay Ferrel gas $150 extra before they can come out.
The client representative argued with me about how long the propane will last--even at 5% left in the tank. She informed me that they have several customers who have run out of gas. They will get to it when they can (that they have a shortage of drivers) within seven business days. It has now been 10 days since I called and I still have no propane. I have a prepaid contract with them. They list three addresses on their billing statements: Versailles, MO, Liberty, MO and Chicago, IL.

We signed a contract with them in September and have yet to get our gas filled. It is now January and pretty soon, I won't need it. Every time I talk to them, they tell me 7 to 9 days. My husband had everything ready for them, including the lines. All they had to do was hook up the gas. They charged up $497.00 to do that.
I called them today and they tell me, "Tomorrow." I am so fed up. How is this customer service? I doubt that they will show up tomorrow either. I told them that I am ready for them to get their ** and refund my money. What if we had our electricity go out during this snow storm? Do not go here for gas.

I have the agreement with this company to fill my tank on "will call" only. With my tank still at 60%, they decided to fill it without my authorization--the amount to top off was approximately $189.00. I use this as a second home and the usage would be at a minimum; thus, the "will call" only type of service. They expect payment in 30 days and in 30 days, it is not in my budget to pay this. Again, this is why I arranged the "will call" only method of service. I understand that this is going on with other customers and believe that just because they are one of the only providers of this service in the area, they can do whatever they want whenever they want. I don't have a problem paying this as it was tentatively scheduled to top off in May or June of 2011.

You have already fired us. We have done nothing wrong. I have no trucks." When I questioned if he was providing service to new customers and new tanks, he couldn't answer. For the past two months, I have heard multiple false promises for pick up and excuses. The bottom line - two plus months for a pick up work order to be processed. Do you consider that to be reasonable? Frank does.
I am without the refund for the residual propane and I am fearful that the truck will leave ruts in my lawn. For weeks after my work order was placed, the lawn was hard and drier. Now with heavy rains and leaves falling, I am very concerned that when a truck eventually does arrive, it will cause significant damage and I will have additional claims against Ferrellgas.

I contacted my former home propane supplier, Ferrellgas, about a bill for $75 for picking up their tank! I informed them that nowhere in the contracts I signed was anything stating that there would be such a charge. They stated that it was in the "Master Agreement". I stated that I never received such an agreement. I asked if they have my signature that I received such an agreement. They stated that they don't have customers sign that they received a "Master Agreement". They stated that they would send (after the fact) a "Master Agreement", but the fee would not be removed. I asked for someone else that I could talk to about removing this charge. They said there was no one else I could talk to.

Ferrellgas has agreed to pick up the tank at no charge. Pump out tank was also at no charge and they will refund me at the price I paid for the contents. This is still a good deal for Ferrellgas as they are paying me $1.599 a gallon and who knows what they can resell it at. This sounds like a win/ win for everyone except the next guy who buys my propane, but I guess that is just business. The pick up has taken place and the technician who picked it up was very pleasant to deal with. I have been assured I will receive my payment in a very timely manner.
I hope this is true. I am sad it had to end like this when it could had been so easy to resolve at the local level by just offering me a price that was at least competitive with the rest of the suppliers in the area. No economic consequence for me, but my concern is with the thousands of other customers who do not complain about some of Ferrellgas' practices. There are thousands of senior citizens out there who have a hard time just keeping food on the table let alone pay for propane. When their propane provider takes advantage of them it just makes things rougher for them.

Ever year, I have to argue with Ferrellgas about the price of their product. In the past, we have been able to come to a deal but it is like pulling teeth. Well this year, we could just not make a deal so I switched providers. The new provider is sixty cents a gallon cheaper and they have a much more customer friendly attitude. Well, here is the problem. I would like Ferrellgas to come and pick up their 31-year old tank that is 60% full. I was told they will buy back the fuel at last year's price, but I have to pay one $180.00 "pump out" charge. Yeah, right. Well let's look at it like this. They charge me $180.00 to pump out fuel that they are paying $1.599 for, put it back into inventory and turn around and resell it for $2.599. Let's see, 60% of a 500 gallon tank is 300 gallons. They make a buck a gallon plus the $180.00 I paid, sounds like a pretty good profit to me.

With the understanding that prices have gone up in the past for petroleum products, the increase for propane has been very much out of line, considering that the commodities exchange price has remained under $1 per gallon. I am being billed in excess of $4 per gallon and I doubt that I'm alone. Some years back, BP had cornered the market on propane and doubled the price.
The SEC or whichever department was the overseer of the exchange, fined BP the amount of of the illicit profits plus another fine but the price to the customer has never dropped back and continues to rise. I don't know if this is in your venue, but I filed a complaint with the Texas AG office and was informed, after the second letter, that they were not interested in individual's problems. I don't consider this to be a problem unique to myself but for every user of propane who is being overcharged, based on the wholesale price.

I have not spoken to this person, however, I did receive a letter from her, threatening to send my account to collections for ignoring it. I have been trying for several months to resolve the problem. When I have been lucky enough to actually speak to a person, everything I have been told or promised seems to magically disappear from their records. They are trying to charge me $847.96, which I will never pay. They lied about the cost of the fuel, when I found out how much I was charged, I located another company, got a new propane tank and fuel. I told Ferrellgas they could pick up their tank with the gas in it. We did not use any of it. It took 3 months to finally get them to pick it up.
They charged me for the gas anyway, along with a pick up fee of $110.00. I have been told so many lies. It is ridiculous that they are allowed to remain in business. They claimed that the gas is no good anymore? They have to charge to pump it back out, for $102.00 per hour. Shouldn't it take just 10 minutes? Most likely, they delivered the tank to some other unsuspecting victim, with the same gas in it, and charged them as much, or more than they are claiming I owe them. As far as I am concerned, I will go to my grave owing them this bogus bill, because it will never be paid.
If they send this to collections, I will be unduly harassed. It seems ironic, since they will obviously be able to reach me, when I cannot reach anyone at their end. My husband and I have perfect credit, over 750 FICO scores, and have never had a collection, but I don't care what they do. We won't ever pay them a dime. They are liars and thieves.

In addition to an annual rental charge for tanks, Ferrellgas has charged me a low-usage fee (equal to 40% of a tank fill), for not filling the tank for a year. This is a charge for which no goods or services are being exchanged, and therefore should be illegal. They will not waive the charge, unless the tank is filled, even though a fill is not needed. On 3/2/10, Ferrellgas came to deliver 200 gallons of propane. My 500 gallon tank was down to 1%. I heard the truck came and went out afterwards to check the amount in the tank. It should have been 41% - it was less than 40%, more like 36% or less. I think I was shorted at least 20 gallons. On 3/3, at 9pm, I re-lit my pilot lights for the hot water heater and water boiler. From 3/3 to 3/5 at 9am, I checked the propane level again and it was at 35%. According to Ferrellgas, they had put 200 gallons in my tank. I must have used 30 gallons of propane (6% of 500) to run my pilots for 36 hours!
Then, I found my bill on the front patio and I was absolutely shocked to see that the propane was $3.59/gallon. Taxes and fees brought the charges to $4.00 per gallon. I called three other propane companies that serve my area to inquire as to the cost of propane:
Santa Fe propane: current price is $2.61/Gallon, season high was $2.63AAA Gas Company: current price $2.29/Gallon
Adobe Propane: current price is $2.81/Gallon
Ferrellgas charges $3.60/Gallon
I called the local office on Cerrillos road and asked to speak to the manager. I was told that there was no manager available and the very polite young man who answered the phone tried to help me. He said their records showed that 200 gallons were delivered on 3/2 and that the tank was at 41% after delivery. When I explained that discrepancy, he said that he would call the driver and then call me back. When I complained about the price and gave him the comparable charges from other companies, he said that he could adjust my bill and change it to $2.69/Gallon.
I am going to file a complaint with the National Office for Ferrellgas and the State Regulatory Board, and then change companies as soon as I use up my 180 (or less) gallons. If you use Ferrellgas, double check your records against theirs and question their pricing strategy!

I live in Bismarck ND. Right now the temperature is almost 0 at night. My wife and 19-month-old daughter and 5-month-old son are at home alone while I am at work. I work for 28 days at a time out of state. Any way Shelly emailed me on Saturday, February 6th 2010 telling me they ran out of propane in the middle of the night and the house was down to 45 degrees. She called Ferrell Gas to come fill our tank since that is who we have been using. When we bought the house on 2008 I contracted gas with them for a year.
The last time they filled our tank in November sometime was the last of the contracted gas I had with them. After they filled the tank they sent us a bill. As soon we received the bill we mailed them a check to pay it off. As the previous 2 times. So now since gas is up to almost 3 dollars a gallon, they want to be paid upfront. Here is the crappy part, since we ran out, they want to charge $150.00 extra for a service that is not needed on top of the emergency call out. They told my wife that they needed nearly $1200.00 to come out and fill our tank upfront and they would not send us a bill.
So Shelly emailed me this news. Now I am on shift and highly frustrated. I had someone relieve me so that I could go inside and call Ferrell myself. All they had to say was they are sorry but they couldn't come out. Now my wife had it already set up for them to come on Monday and I told her to cancel it until I returned home on the 26th of February. We have electric base heaters and they should keep the house livable until then.
She called first thing Monday morning, the 8th, to cancel. They then proceeded to tell my wife that they are not responsible for making sure we don't run out which they aren't, but I would like running a business in a small community it might be a common courtesy. Anyway to make things short, the gal at the desk hung up on my wife twice and wouldn't transfer the call to her boss. So this is what I have to say about that. Ferrell you better get ready for a cold winter at your house. I know enough people that do business with you and will no longer be doing business with you. Your expensive gas will just sit there.

I have been an excellent FerrellGas customer for over eight years, however, I cannot get on keepfill status. I ran out of LP on Monday Jan 25, 2010 and called them around 9:00AM. My account had a $500.00 credit. I did not want to pay the $150.00 fee for 24 hour delivery because I felt they could deliver in a timely manner (one to two days). I called Tuesday morning to find out if I had been scheduled for deliver and was told I was scheduled for Wednesday delivery. It was 41 degrees in my living room.
It is Thursday afternoon and still no delivery. Outside temps are expected to drop in the next few days. I called again Thursday 1:00PM and requested to talk with a manager. I could not talk with anyone but the receptionist and after our lengthy discussion about no fuel, was told she did not want to "interrupt his busy day" with my concerns. She did not want to give him my name and number and told me so. She told me I had not yet been scheduled and that it could be anytime from two to seven days before I would be scheduled. She did not see that any problems existed. She assured me that they have to deal with five to ten empty tanks every day. Absolutely uncaring and cold-hearted. It is 8 degrees out and the wind is blowing. I don't know if my electric heaters can keep up enough to keep my water pipes from freezing.

Basically, it's the same non-caring attitude and a complete know-it-all. I quit using Ferrellgas several years ago because of their high prices. They prided themselves on being the price leader and they were more expensive than any of the competition. Propane as a commodity is the same from all companies. The only difference is the price and their service. In the past, this has been the problem as they had the highest prices and had poor service.
Over the last 20 years, Ferrellgas has gone through change after change. You cannot find a corporation that has such a turnover in high level and mid-level management. It all depends on who has the greatest ideas and can flatter Mr. Ferrell.
After their latest venture into regional offices and limited local offices, they found that there was a mass exit by their customer base and the local competition was taking a greater share. So this past year, I was contacted concerning a guaranteed price for any number of gallons you could use. I heard through local help that Ferrellgas had changed and were pursuing their old as well as new customers. Dumb me thought maybe they had finally gotten smart and understood what the public wanted. Now, I find out that while I have a guaranteed price, I can't get delivery. Management still cannot plan for the winters and people are running out of gas, pipes busting and they don't really give a damn and are extremely rude.
My advice to anyone wanting to do business with Ferrellgas is do it at your own peril as you can never trust or depend on them to keep their word. I am having to contact a competitor who will charge me a higher price but will deliver the gas. Being on a fixed income impacts me greater than ever before.

I told Pat I am livid having paid $4.09 all this time and felt she could do better. I also told her I am prepared to call News Channel 5 because this appeared to me to be considered price gouging, having paid this much up until I made a phone call to complain. Well, then Pat says I should talk to Debbie, the manager, at their Stuart office and that she can better assist me.
So, I speak with Debbie on on 3/18/09 and she gives me $193.14 credit which mind you is how much we were paying approximately every two months. Along with the credit, she also lowered my rate to $2.80 per gallon. I have a problem with this. It gets better. The driver (E J) of Ferrellgas just came out this morning to fill our tank and my husband asked him, "How much are you charging us per gallon?" He says he does not know. Then he says, "Oh, it will be $3.17 per gallon." We get his statement and it states $3.79 per gallon. What is going on here? Of course, we made him call his office to have this adjusted right away to what Debbie stated which is $2.80 per gallon. Come on people, let's do something about this. Now I am very eager to see what others have been paying for natural gas. I'm sure we are not the only ones being ripped off.
Economically, I don't think I need to explain this one but I can tell you this, we are honest, hard working people that are struggling to make ends meet just like a lot of others due to the poor economy and lack of work out there. And what scares me is had I not have been laid off and times so tight right now, I don't think we would have ever addressed this.
