I would not recommend this company to anyone. They don't care about their customers. They shut of my gas for a regularor leak on Friday. They told me someone would be out Saturday to fix it. I called number Friday night and was told someone would be out on Saturday. I was called 4 times on Saturday and was told someone would be out. I called about 3pm and was told again someone was coming. I asked to speak to supervisor. She told me they have no one to fix it. Called again on Monday to have it fixed and was informed that no techs work on weekend. The earliest I can have it fixed is around noon Tuesday. I still have no heat or gas for cooking, showers, dryer. That is their job and they can do it. So find yourself another company..

Please review link as of Nov 15, 2024. I have been researching possible suppliers and at no other provider did I see so many fees. I did not bother to get a price per lb. Unbelievable they charge you a fee just for calling for a delivery. Review ALL fees. What fees does AmeriGas pay? None. Customers pay for Amerigas expenses. Customers paying all these fees should be the owner of company.

I will be living in a travel trailer in an RV park while I’m working. The owner of the RV park told me that Amerigas services the RV’s in his park. I called Amerigas to get a tank and service set up and was told that they will not service RV’s. I told the lady that they do service the RV’s in my park so she looked it up and says ”Oh we do service RV’s but we won’t set up a new RV account”. I guess they really don’t care if people can use their furnace or not and whether their pipes could freeze or not. Their customer service is less than hospitable. I recommend not even bothering with them.

During the end of my divorce I was living in an apartment for 1 month that required you to use AmeriGas. I cancelled my service after one month’s use and paid my bill in its entirety. That was in August. It is now the middle of November, and I received a call from a billing agency for my outstanding AmeriGas bill. The total was over $300. After calling AmeriGas I was informed there was a $200 cancellation fee added to my bill, and with late charges my total bill was over $300. I am a disabled combat veteran. I live frugally off a small but cherished fixed income from the VA. I find it disgusting that they believe charging $200 to end service is appropriate, especially because I was never made aware of this fee at all. I will never do business with them in the future.

NO cars were in driveway & did not call or ring doorbell!! Even workers in yard said NO gas truck showed up!!
3> When called to get refill & ask why did not show up - sent notice -- got off-shore operator that would not acknowledge the no show & said next delivery would be in (8 ) or (9) DAYS!!
Ridiculous to go without gas in heavily populated Palm County Florida!!!! NEVER NEVER use Amerigas for any reason!!!!

Terrible Customer Service – Avoid AmeriGas! I’ve had the worst experience with AmeriGas and their customer service. First of all, their billing is completely confusing, and when I called to get clarification, the representative was rude and unhelpful. I was put on hold for over 30 minutes and when I finally spoke to someone, they acted like I was an inconvenience. They seemed completely uninterested in resolving my issue and were clearly just trying to rush me off the phone.
To make matters worse, they never showed up on the scheduled delivery date, and I had to waste even more time trying to get an answer from their customer service line. After multiple attempts, I still didn’t get any clear answers. It’s honestly ridiculous that a company this big can be this disorganized and dismissive of customers. If you're looking for reliable service and decent customer support, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. AmeriGas has made my experience a complete nightmare. I'll be switching to a different company ASAP. Avoid them if you value your time and sanity!

11/8/24. WARNING!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!! STAY AWAY!! Absolutely the WORST customer service WE HAVE EVER HAD. WE have called and called for help. Our tank was allowed to run absolutely dry even though we paid for a monitor device and the fuel upfront. We are in Northern AZ in the winter with NO HEAT now and our tank will not be filled until NEXT WEEK. We have been loyal customers for several years and this is how we are rewarded. On top of that, we have pre-paid for the fuel. Technically that fuel belongs to us and this company is withholding our fuel from us. AS soon as we can - we will be changing. Proceed at your own risk.

This is by far the worst business we have ever dealt with!! 0 Customer service. Bill you for things you didn’t sign up for. Took us 6 months and multiple phone calls until we finally had the billing error corrected, only to find out they had sent us to collections right after that. They now say our account no longer exists and will not help us at all. They overcharge for propane and there are options. We highly recommend Hall Propane, in the Greensboro area. You actually get to talk to someone local and they answered all of our questions, gave us a quote immediately and we were set up and ready to go in 2 days.

Amerigas some of the worst customer service of any company I’ve ever dealt with worldwide (I’ve lived in quite a few countries). I close my accounts two years ago because of their poor service and all of a sudden they pop back up, trying to deliver gas and sending me bills. Trying to deal with this has reminded me why I closed the accounts in the first place. Businesses like this should not be allowed to operate.

Out of gas for 13 days (so far). Delivery dates are not honored. Chat operators just cut and paste the same thing. No communication, no followup, and I believe intentionally dishonest. I can't think of a time I have been more disappointed with a service provider. BTW, I'm only out of gas because they said they delivered 2 months ago and they didn't (unless of course they were able to trick 3 security cameras and not disturb the tank cover). Since I had to pay in advance, I'm out of luck on that one.

Smelled propane and called a plumber to do a safety check. Found a leak around the furnace regulator and replaced, rechecked, all good. We were out of propane so placed a call to Amerigas and was quoted $4.19/gal and informed that since our tank is empty, they would need to do a leak test of their own for $140, even though our tank is leased and their property. I informed them we already had a leak test performed, and a repair done and tested, and that I would not be paying them to confirm their own. They informed me it has to be done and that I can call back after delivery and discuss having the charge removed. Also delivery would be scheduled for 7-10 days from the time of the call unless I agreed to pay $300 emergency fill fee. I declined.
The average cost of propane in Texas is $2.80/gal so I called them back after reading others had negotiated down their price, and all they would decrease it to was $3.98/gal. They canceled the previous order and put a new one in for the lower price, which then bumped my delivery date back. We are held to Amerigas because they own the tank and have a monopoly, but I have call in to purchase the tank (also a call back average wait of 7-10 days) and plan to get out from under this horrible company who has outsourced all of its customer service to the Philippines.

I paid my delivery then the propane was delivered late as usual and then several weeks later I am told I have a balance due for the same exact amount of $344.96 which I already paid for the recent delivery. The Customer Service Rep was rude and said I still have to pay without giving me a clear answer why I am being charged twice. I need to speak to someone in the US that can clearly look into this and resolve this issue. There is no one in the US that you contact which is totally crazy! As I read the reviews on this website, all I can say is "Ditto, ditto, ditto." They double charged us to the tune of $1300 (they only show about $1100) and still no refund check, despite months of follow-up calls as to its whereabouts and promises by AmeriGas that the check is "in process." Different story by the customer service reps every time; no chance to talk with anybody who can really resolve the issue. I've also tried emailing AmeriGas and was given two different addresses; probably both went to the cyber circular file. They've held onto our money for almost a year; it's theft.

We had our 1st appointment scheduled for 9/12/24. This was the appointment to see where tank would go and was needed to hook up. We live in our RV which is underpinned & has a 16x32 deck attached. The "drawer" decided on his plan and left. We didn't get any instructions or paperwork from him. He just said we would get a call to schedule install. Well that didn't happen until I called. Then the appointment was set for 10/2/24. The nice lady on the phone even verified that it was for an "underpinned RV." Well today comes our tank on the back of the truck. Good thing we are down to 1/4 tank in our onboard tank.
Well, that tank left on the back of the truck because the 3rd person to verify that it was for an underpinned RV said that they do not hook to campers. Well I called them because about 3 miles away is a camp ground with about 8 AmeriGas tanks. Now we are almost out of propane and it's getting cold at night, and we have to start all over again. Moved into my rental house October of 2022. Had the tank filled the full 250 gallons. I called Amerigas to have an emergency delivery because the tank was completely empty and asked them to check for a leak. They claimed they checked and there was no leak.
I continued to go through propane in the winter EXTREMELY quick so this winter I was tired of spending money on propane that I was not using and requested that my landlord send someone out to check for a leak. Lo and behold they found a very significant leak! With all of the receipts from the amerigas delivery showing they had "checked" for a leak and proof that a leak was found from a 3rd part hvac company, AmeriGas still refuses to take responsibility for THEIR negligence and will not help with clearing these excess charges for propane I didn't even get to use. I have had Amerigas for several years. I, as of last year, filed a complaint with the AG in Ky because of everything every review on this page is saying. Right now, 9/18/24, the gas price is $4.01. They said in June and July I could order my gas and it would be substantially cheaper. I tried. They said I couldn’t order “such a low amount”. It was a little over half a tank. Now the tank is less and the months have passed and it’s going to be $1200+ for me to fill my tank. I have tried to switch companies but they have made it so expensive to do that that I am stuck with this audacious company. They talked with the AG and said they were accidentally charging me fees on a program they don’t offer anymore and refunded a whopping $18 dollars to my account.
The underground tank I have had a leak and they went through this big spiel about how they’re going to take it out and I come home and there is a new tank right next to my home. 3 weeks later, my husband was mowing and I saw something shiny in the yard where he was about to be and told him to stop. When I went to see what it was I realized it was the copper hose that goes to my house from the tank.
I called to let them know and the women who answered said it would be a fee of $95 an hour for them to come out and bury the line. I asked why since it was 3 weeks since the install and her words were “we can’t help land erosion!” The line should’ve been buried 12” underground. My yard did not “wash away” a whole foot in 3 week. I have a chain linked fence, I would’ve noticed. I still have a tank in the ground and one that is directly at the end of my driveway in the most unsafe area. I wish there was someone who could do something about all the troubles I’ve read from all the threads on this site. I wish, for real, that there was a 0 star option. The amount of frustration and loss of income that this “company” has caused is egregious.

I have called the 800# for Amerigas no less than 10 times and have been given 10 different stories as to why this is happening, from someone in a foreign country, who barely speaks English.
When I asked for a supervisor, I got Vincent, who proceeded to tell me that Amerigas didn't install my tank. They only did an initial site survey. Obviously not true! If there was a zero rating I would do it. This company is awful. Two years ago we moved into a rental in Colorado. I set up service with them at the time. Mind you, the landlord owned the tank. I should also add that I had to call repeatedly twice during that time to get them to deliver fuel. In June of this year we moved. I called to cancel the service and was told I owed nothing more, and left 53% of gas in the tank. It’s now September and I got a paper bill in the mail saying I owe $157.63. I called and explained that I no longer live there so there must be some mistake.
The guy on the phone asked for my account number and put me on hold. He came back and told me this was a fee for cancelling the service early. I asked “what do you mean?!” He said “Ma’am, there is a fee if you cancel before 3 years.” I asked him to send me the contract where I signed anything of that nature because at no time was I aware of that. He put me on hold again. When he came back he said “ma’am there is no contract but if you go to our website you can see the terms of service.” I said “ah, no. I am not paying for anything that I did not sign a binding contract for..”
He put me on hold again and came back with “the best I can do for you is file a dispute, but know that if the dispute is denied you will be charged anyway.” I said to him, “Well, here’s the thing. I’m not paying it, your company is a rip off!” He told me to call within 7-10 business days to see if the dispute was granted. They said we owed on the account which was not mentioned before. We did not know this because on 8/29 we mailed them the amount owed Ck # **. Now when you look at the delivery it shows 9/8-9/9. We will see. This is the 3rd problem this yr. We've been with them for 15 yrs. You all are right, they could care less because they have the monopoly on propane in our area. There's one other one and we will absolutely be looking into them. Monopolies can become less efficient and innovative over time because they don't need to compete to succeed.

I was using Amerigas Propane because they bought out the previous propane company I was using. Their gas prices were horrendous! Charged $4.40 a gallon while competition was charging $2 less per gallon. I decided to switch propane companies. I called to tell them they could pick up their propane tank and close my account. I was given a date when they would be there to pick up tank and was told I had to be at home when they picked it up. They didn't come get the tank until 2 weeks later when I wasn't at home. I got a bill in the mail for $329.23 charging to pick up tank and service fee. They didn't have to do anything but get the tank. The other propane company had already unhooked the tank and set it to the side. I called customer service and got nowhere. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I would rate them as 0 if I could.

What a lousy company. We had FlameGas until AmeriGas bought them out, and then the price gouging started. Residential Propane prices are currently averaging $2.49 a gallon, Amerigas quoted me $4.99. I called three different propane suppliers in my area, they were all under $3 a gallon. Amerigas rep told me they charge everyone a different price. We rent the tank from them also. I'm buying a tank from another local company and dumping AmeriGas.

Horrendous experience. I placed my order on 8/16 and as of today, 8/29, after being reassured at least six times that the delivery would be made by the end of the day, still no gas. I genuinely feel for the customer service agents in their foreign call centers (bold move to call yourself Amerigas and outsource your customer service to other countries, on the cheap) who have to deal with the fallout of their employer's incompetence. In my desperation to have a hot shower, I looked for another company in the area who might actually value my business and found one — they're filling the tank now, three hours (not weeks!) after I placed the order. Please save yourself the stress and frustration of attempting to do business with Amerigas and find a local company who actually gives a damn.

I’m sorry to say that AmeriGas is not running a fair trade business. These people have no customer service. I called and gave the customer representative my number in case phone is disconnected, because I insisted on how much they charge per gallon of gas and they couldn’t tell me. They want to get into my account to know how much they are charging me when in fact they are charging my neighbors $1.25 less than me. This company discriminates against races, creeds and national origins. Certainly not recommending for accurate and trustworthy.

Where do I begin. Everything everyone else is saying here feels like a carbon copy of my experience with this joke of a company, Amerigas. I could bore you with the endless problems and complaints I had with the old, beat-up tank they gave me that wouldn't even hold the 80% fill rate (but would charge me for 80%) and leaked. Among so many other things. I have cancelled my service with them and I have to pay a $199 pick up charge and a $99 service dispatch fee, which I argued are the same charge, because the tank can't pick up itself. And they can't tell me when the tank will be picked up. I will just get a random text or email.
You absolutely cannot get a hold of someone local and get routed to an overseas call center. I asked the ** gal where I send the $100 a day storage fee for the tank being on my land, after my initiated cancellation date, and how do I get a credit for the gas that I have previously paid for, that is still in the tank. She was dumbfounded and didn't know what to say, as it wasn't in her scripted playbook of endless question and trying to get me to keep the service. Amerigas should be absolutely ashamed of their horrific customer service - or lack thereof. I predict they will go under or sell out, due to their abhorrent practices. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, save yourself the headache and go with ANY other propane provider!!!!

I am on a private acre with a locked gate so it is something I have to be here for as the tank is located way in the back thru a winding drive and animals.
I waited all day Monday. 8-26-24 And now I'm on the phone with foreigners that hardly speak English and do their level best to do nothing except countless questions of me for verifications that I have an account. And after all that they transfer me to someone else to go thru the whole story again. And then that new person says I was transferred to the wrong place. Their prices are already through the roof, but what really pushed me over the edge was their outrageous fees. They charge you an exorbitant amount just to turn the service off, and when you question it, they hide behind their "terms and conditions" like it's some kind of shield. This company is the definition of price gouging—charging as much as they can get away with, without any concern for fairness or transparency. They clearly don't care about their customers, only about squeezing every last dollar out of them. I would never recommend Amerigas to anyone. The worst company I have ever dealt with. After years with the company, and never missing a payment, I moved and closed my account. Suddenly an invoice shows up at my door noting an outstanding balance of $440.20. I immediately call them and get told that the invoice is from 2020 (it is now 2024) but they cannot explain why I was not notified of this old invoice. I escalate to their resolution team and get hung up on. I call back and get told that the invoice should not be billed to my account and that the issue should be resolved in a week or two. A month later I receive a late charge so I call them again and receive a completely different story on what happened but am again told that it will be removed from my account and not to worry.
The cycle has repeated for months with no resolution. On the most recent call, I am told that the invoice actually belongs to the new homeowner and that they need to rebill it to them and I am also notified that all prior inquiries were escalated and closed out without any action taken. After again getting a late charge on my account and checking online to confirm the charge is still there, I contacted them this morning. I am told that this will be resolved but they need more time to work on my case (it has now been 4 months). It is seemingly impossible to get any ownership of the issue from anyone at this company. I would not recommend this company to anyone under any circumstances; try to find a local company that is reputable and accountable, Amerigas is anything but.

I have spent more than 40 years in the service industry and fully understand that most customers write reviews when they are UNHAPPY. As such, I have a personal rule to ALWAYS review when I have a good experience; and only write a bad review when it really matters. This is one of those times. We fired AmeriGas this month for 2 reasons - 1) For delivering the most horrific service we've ever experienced from a utility company. 2) For price gouging (currently more than $7.00 a gal). So the price speaks for itself. The service issues we've had over the past year:
- They blamed us because they had 2 accounts in their system. (We had nothing to do with the account set-up).
- They took 2 weeks to deliver propane, re-hook us up and confirm no leaks.
- Their "minimum" is 100 gallon vs. 50 like most competitors. "Minimum" charge is outrageous ($250+ in addition to propane purchase).
- Each call to the call center was met with broken promises and eventually, the need for escalation to a supervisor.
- When we finally had enough and cancelled their service, they repeatedly missed the pick-up of the existing tank (causing us to have to reschedule the new company multiple times).
- When they finally showed up, they SHUT OFF THE SERVICE BUT LEFT THE TANK due to a "inaccessibility" issue. The structure that covered the tank was easily moved by me, myself (a 120-lb. 5'5" woman).
- It took another week to get them back out and they missed the promised day/timeline 3 times. Thankfully the new company removed their tank and did their work for us.
- We found that Amerigas missed an outside leak (that evidently was there for years) as evidenced by the damage to a valve.
We do not recommend AmeriGas for residential customers as we are clearly not a priority or taken seriously. STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE.

I was told inspection failed due to anti corrosion bag not being detected so they cannot fill tank until I pay $1000 for a bag to be installed. 3 days later I received a $900 bill for inspection and filling tank. The “free” inspection cost $250 plus $100 dispatch and $550 for the propane that they supposedly couldn’t supply. Plus fees. When I called they lied and told me they repaired the tank for free for me. I have cameras around my entire property and have been home since closing. We were on a budget pay program for several years. This last winter, the budget price went from $200 a month to over $500 a month. I called and asked how they could increase the price without notice. Was give no real reason by the overseas customer service rep. Was transferred several times. Was finally transferred to Samantha, who I could actually understand. I asked about the price increase. Was told it was price increase on the gas. She sent a message to her supervisor asking about help with the price.
She called me back a week later saying they would give me a .75 cent credit on the last delivery. I asked about removing the tank and reimbursement of the gas in the tank. She said that they would reimburse at the winter price of $4.99 per gallon. I asked about buying the tank so I could price shop. Still waiting on call back on that. I was shocked when I went to another local propane dealer and found it was managed by a former amerigas delivery driver. He told me he couldn't work for them anymore. Delivering overpriced gas didn't sit well with him. Also not having a local office was impossible for good customer service. I then found out that their winter price was $2.45 per gallon vs $4.99 from amerigas. I'm having the tank removed and replaced with the local company. I'm sure it will be an expensive switch, even though the new company is pulling their tank and bringing it out for and easy pick up by amerigas.

Got a quote from several propane companies, Amerigas had the best price. Went to order, and they said I had to have a leak test done, because it was 2 years since I got propane from them. I still have propane in the tank, and they want to charge me $140 for leak test? They said it was a law, and they had to do it. I looked it up online, and they are required to do it, only if the gas ran out. I used to buy my propane from them all the time, but no way now. Buyer beware.

After waiting 3 hrs without calling me or knocking at my door I found Amerigas out filling my tank. He tested and found a leak underground as I had already told him. I was aware he locked the tank out. 2 months later same guy shows up again without calling only to tell my wife he can't take the tank because it's full. Well no kidding. He filled it and locked it. Now 2 weeks after all this my tank is still sitting here full and they are trying to charge me $1000.00 for gas I did not want.

We sold our home April 30th 2023. Before we moved, we called Amerigas to close our account. We didn't take the grill with us, seeing that it's too large to move and we haven't grilled out in 5 years, so no propane was used. In the early part of this year we got a $129 bill. We called, let them know we closed the account and moved. We have now received late fees, 3 of them. I spoke to a customer service agent today who said there are no notes, nobody has ever called. I asked him, "Did anyone call today," he said no, I said "that's funny, my father called this morning". So the customer service reps either don't care or the system doesn't work. They can bill us till the end of time, we aren't paying the bill.
What's beautiful about cell phones is one can go back and see how many times you have called someone and what date you called. My mother called to cancel the service the week before we moved. There are calls registered after the December bill and every past due notice. No wonder Amerigas has 1 in 5 star review with over 925 reviews.

They didn't charge me to put the tank in and they had me for a customer for 33 years and I had to change just recently through no fault of my own and I think everybody should know how they screw their customers. They owed me $208 for propane that was in my tank that was that they picked up now they're trying to get it all back from me by charging all these fees. They were charging me a total of $299.98. I do not want to give one star. But for some reason I could not remove that one star. When I first started with AmeriGas they seem to be okay but later they started to charge anything and the overseas operators were hard to understand and they screwed up everything. The last propane that they bought to my home they charged me over $400 when it first out was only a hundred and something.
They lie and constantly lie. Charged $300 for what they call an emergency fee and will not bring the propane when you ask for it. When I asked them to come remove the tank they charge me $199 just to remove the tank. The worst thing about them is the overseas operators and you have to fight to understand what half of them say. It's just a big mess. I would not advise anyone to go there. There are other companies out there that are better. I found one. And the overseas operators will lie and pretend like they are managers to avoid you talking to the people in the United States. The company sucks. If you don't believe me try it for yourself. I recently cancelled my Amerigas account. Their service is just terrible. They would offer discounts if you bought large amounts of propane and then after you placed your order they would claim you did not order enough for the discount. And they just pass you from one person to the next as they really don't have a clue.
Last time I ordered propane I waited 10 days and still never got my order. They claimed I did not order enough propane. So, I cancelled my account, paid $197.46 just to have them pick up their old rusty tank. And then, after I paid my final bill, got my cancelled check showing where they DID get my payment, they email me a bill for the same amount claiming it is past due and they might charge me a late fee! Updated on 05/23/2024: Zero should be an option. I cancelled service in April, was informed there would be a $199.99 fee for tank removal and they would credit unused portion of the yearly tank rental fee. They picked up in May, charged me $199.99 plus $99.99 dispatch fee and only deducted six months not seven of the unused rental fee. Phoned to dispute additional fee and was told that's what they do even though it is not listed on the terms and conditions. Spoke with a manager, who did remove the fee and adjust the additional month rental. This is another example of how they screw over their customers, with fees for everything plus made up fees. They also charge a 2.65% fee to pay with credit card. This is the worst company, I would never do business with them again.
Original review: Zero stars needs to be an option, they are a horrible company. I only had them due to their acquisition of the small town company I was using. I wish I could give AmeriGas.com zero stars for their abysmal service. Where do I even begin? Let's start with their predatory business practices. It's like they have a playbook on how to squeeze every last penny out of their customers. From undisclosed fees to sudden price hikes, dealing with AmeriGas.com is like navigating a minefield of financial traps.
But the nightmare doesn't end there. Oh no, let's talk about their customer service – or lack thereof. You'd think that in this day and age, a company as big as AmeriGas.com would have their act together when it comes to customer support. Think again. Trying to get a hold of someone who speaks fluent English and actually understands your issue is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
And don't even get me started on their overseas customer service. It's as if they've outsourced their entire support team to another dimension where customer satisfaction doesn't exist. When you finally do manage to reach someone, good luck getting a resolution that's anything other than a false promise. They'll tell you they've solved the problem, but lo and behold, it's still there, lurking in the shadows, ready to strike again.
And let's not forget about their penchant for hidden fees. Just when you think you've paid everything off, surprise! Here comes another charge, conveniently tucked away in the fine print of your contract. It's like playing a never-ending game of financial whack-a-mole. In conclusion, steer clear of AmeriGas.com unless you enjoy being taken for a ride. Their predatory business practices, terrible overseas customer service, false resolution claims, undisclosed fees, and the impossibility of speaking to a competent human being are enough to drive anyone to the brink of insanity. Save yourself the headache and find a propane provider that actually values its customers.

Nothing I did could rectify the delivery service. Every time I called I talked with service representatives who had no authority to do anything, gave me conflicting information, and took more than an hour to resolve absolutely nothing. I usually had to call several times to resolve anything.

That process alone was difficult and took several hours and phone calls to actually get them to execute. The new company was a breeze. Five months after I closed the account, I received a bill for a gas delivery and tank rental, which was not possible. If you actually get to speak with somebody, they will exhibit very broken or hard to understand speech and it will sound as if they are at their kitchen table somewhere with significant noise such as children playing with other home based activity in the background.
2. Once a customer, terms and conditions will be changing regularly along with ridiculous and unfair fees and pricing increases buried in their regularly changing fine print terms and conditions. Your only recourse will be to cancel service and incur a slew of price gouging charges. Otherwise "they got you" and they can implement anything they want in regularly revised T&C's. Good luck.
3. If you lease their tank, expect to pay for it every 5 years in lease fees. It will become a rust bucket eyesore, but they will not ever clean or paint it. If you want service on it for any reason, you will pay a crazy fee for them to come out and maybe/maybe not service it.
4. When you finally get frustrated, have had enough and cancel them, it will take (in my case 5 separate communications and lies each time) to get service cancelled and their lease tank removed. AND when they actually get their tank out of your way, you get a "Final Bill" based upon their fine print T&C's, of approx $330!!
My advice is to NEVER sign up with Amerigas. They are a rip off, pathetic customer service and will lead to stress and frustration each time you would need to interact with them for any reason. If you are purchasing a home that they currently serve, write into your purchase contract a requirement that Amerigas service cancellation and tank removal must be accomplished prior to closing, at sellers expense. Then once you close, find your smaller local, more reputable propane service provider and contract with them.

Scheduled appointments and no shows. Phone calls and chat sessions that have gotten me nowhere. Promises that my concerns were escalated to management, promised return phone calls from supervisors which never happen. All staff with the exception of delivery drivers and techs are in the Philippines. I was asked to clear the snow so the driver could get to my tank, I live in Florida.

Working with this company has been the worst experience, how they’re still in business is beyond me. You think one of the largest propane supplies would safe bet, but nope. We haven’t had gas working for two weeks, we were put on will call without being notified (as we were on auto delivery). They finally delivered after almost two weeks, but locked our tank, saying no one was home. They don’t notify you of when they’re coming by, so you have no idea and they give you over a week timeframe for delivery (not that it was even delivered within that timeframe).
Now, I was home, but was in our basement and didn’t hear them. So now I’m left with a tank with propane, but still unable to use it. All the reviews you’re reading are not inflated, they really are this bad. Their offshore customer service center is horrible, you never get any resolution of any of your issues. Their Better Business rating is an F. They are always adding extra fees etc, higher propane costs…We are looking at removing their tank and replacing it with our own! I can’t say this enough… Don't go with them, you will regret it. Unfortunately, we were stuck with the previous owner's decision.

Ever since they switched from a local service here in Walker MN, to off-shore, it has been nothing but frustration. Speaking with someone in China about propane in Northern Minnesota just doesn't work. The final straw was the new contract they were forcing me to sign before they would deliver propane. There were so many issues with the contract, the key ones being length of time and no end of additional fees. The propane itself is the most expensive in the area, but I was willing to over-look that until they started holding me to ransom. I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with AmeriGas, and I must say it was one of the most frustrating encounters I've ever had with a utility company. First and foremost, their customer service is abysmal. I attempted to contact them regarding a billing issue, and it felt like I was talking to a brick wall. The representatives were unhelpful, rude, and seemed disinterested in resolving my concerns. It's as if they have no regard for customer satisfaction.
The billing system itself is a disaster. I received an inexplicably high bill, and when I tried to dispute it, I was met with bureaucratic red tape and a lack of transparency. It's clear that Amerigas prioritizes squeezing every last penny out of its customers rather than providing fair and accurate billing. Moreover, their service reliability is laughable. I've experienced multiple gas outages without any prior warning or explanation. This lack of communication is not only inconvenient but also raises serious safety concerns. It's shocking that a company entrusted with providing such a crucial utility can be so careless.
To make matters worse, the prices are exorbitant for the subpar service they offer. It's infuriating to pay such high rates for a service that consistently fails to meet even the most basic expectations. In conclusion, I would strongly advise anyone considering Ameri Gas to look elsewhere. The frustration, inconvenience, and lack of professionalism exhibited by this company are simply not worth the headaches. Save yourself the trouble and find a gas provider that values its customers and provides the service they deserve.

I had received other deliveries that day. I then ordered a 1 day urgent delivery as my tank was empty. After practically daily calls, lasting hours and promises that the truck would show up that very same day or at least within 24 hours, I finally got the propane 8 days later.
They charged 4.99 a gallon and have done that for the last 3 deliveries. I checked with the competition and their price was 2.99. Is this gauging or what? When querying the charge the rep. told they were Amerigas and their competitors had different prices. What a reply. Come April they can take their tank and good riddance.

I would like to give them zero star. I have been a faithful customer for over 10 years. How do they show their appreciation: 1. By raising their price to double of other companies. 2. Demanding that I fill my tank complete each time I make a purchase 3. Having customer service that literally do not speak English, and I cannot understand any of them. 4. Charging you 2.65% if you pay with your credit card. I can go on with other things but I'm going to limit to just this. During my last 10 years of doing service with them, NONE OF THE ABOVE existed.
Within the last few years they did a complete turnaround and they regards to anything. THIS. I will be finishing up my last tank delivery and will 100% find a company that cares about their customer, allows you to pay with a Credit card without fees, LETS YOU purchase how much propane you need, not force you to get 100 gallons delivery at the most expensive price and more important, an American company whose employees we can understand and not sound like foreign robots.
I tried to have them deliver 50 gallons only which they said they could but at a much higher cost. So basically they want to get their money from you either way. I was on the phone with a local company who said they have been getting many of Amerigas former customers who are dissatisfied with Amerigas. When I first contacted AmeriGas to set up an account in June of 2023, and later, in August of 2023 when I was working through the account set-up process. I was very favorably impressed. The Customer Service agents were "on-shore" (the first woman I spoke to was in Oklahoma), they were helpful and accessible. One person actually gave me her email address so we could exchange paperwork and get things done. In November, that's when the trouble started. I was having trouble accessing my online account. There was a billing error. Then, the latest problem was (is) with a propane delivery. Every time I called, it was clear and obvious that I had called into an off-shore call center (there was constant background noise, multiple people having conversations, English was not the native language, and I always have to ask, "What was your name again and how do you spell that?").
The people were polite and gave the impression they were trying to help. But I got nothing more than apologies and empty promises. It took three months to fix my online account access. It took two weeks to remove the billing error. I deliberately called well in advance for a propane delivery (I had 45% remaining in my tank - they recommend you call at 30%). I have been waiting for 10 days and still have no confidence they will delivery any time soon. Note: a different, local propane provider I called said, if I call in the morning, I can get a delivery on the same day - when there is high demand, they deliver on the 2nd or 3rd day.
I chose AmeriGas because they are selling me propane at the rock-bottom price of $1.79 a gallon. The local provider I called is charging $1 more per gallon. But I will GLADLY pay the extra price in order to talk to someone in an office 20 minutes from my home and get reliable, friendly, timely service. I have had to lower my thermostat to conserve fuel for the last 4 days. I'm tired of waiting in the cold for AmeriGas to show up. When we bought our house, there was a 500 gallon underground propane tank that was set up with a 30 year lease to buy (life of tank). The tank was about 10yrs old when we bought and had to assume the contract. Around 2012 Amerigas bought the contract. We had no choice or say in the matter. Set up for price-lock and auto delivery. The price-lock was more than the rate should have been. When our contract to force us to but Amerigas was up in May 2023, they refused to give us papers so we could get a new supplier, worse, they auto-bill for the price lock ($99) in June 2023. Refused to pay say I did not want it. (They say NOT an option-guessing it's for life.)
The next month got a late fee for not paying the $99 price lock. Made multiple calls, waited MANY hours and tossed around, promised paperwork and emailed information (NONE of which materialized). So now, can't get delivery unless we pay almost $500 for the $99 plus $36/mo. late fee until now PLUS $149.99 cancellation fee for NOT renewing the price-lock. Oh, and BTW, they arbitrarily mandated a 1,000 gallon year minimum or you get charged for anything less than that (ours was about $275). We plan to have it dug up and a new tank put in this summer that we will OWN outright and get a new supplier. These people are CROOKS and EVIL.

Good luck getting a competent person to help. It’s all overseas call centers and people reading scripts. They are ok with me running out of gas in sub-degree temps. No billing options. I was told today that’s the rules. And if you run out… They charge you 440.00. Plus you have to fill the whole tank. It’s strong arm tactics. I would choose to not move to my new residence based on this company. Customer service sucks. The supervisors suck, especially Haley. I’ve never had a utility not offer billing and demand cash up front. I’m getting paid next week but I might freeze to death before then. They set it up so there are added charges left and right. On Google a representative from AmeriGas replied to my complaint, gave me an email to talk to a resolution specialist. I wrote them 5 days ago and have not gotten a reply. Even corporate does not seem to care about their customers. Pure trash. If you can… Avoid this company at all costs.

I have been on automatic delivery with Amerigas ever since they bought out my previous supplier in 2012. Over the last 3 years, the delivery service has degraded significantly. I have had gas-out situations in the winters of 2022 and 2023, and this season I've had two successive gas-out situations. I was promised after the last gas-out that I would be put on an "every 3 week delivery" by the driver, but evidently that never happened, and I am out of gas again! It used to be that "automatic delivery" meant that you didn't have to constantly monitor the tank level, but that no longer seems to be the case with Amerigas!

This company has the worst customer service I have ever had. I never leave reviews but, this I had to say. Ordered propane. It took over 2 weeks for it to be delivered even though I was told it would be within 4 days, then the next day for three times. When they delivered they went to the wrong house and did not believe me. When they came to deliver they would not fill my tank. Would only put in what they put on the tank at the wrong house, 47 gallons.
I had a sup call me and promise they would come back and fill the tank, give me a discount and the same price I had ordered the propane at after they looked into the problem. That was 3 months ago. I have his cell no. but he will not answer my call or text. I have a 88 yr. old dad I take care of and my heaters are propane. I am ready to call the news channels about this company. Customer service overseas is a joke. They just keep telling me I had propane delivered or they just hang up. Someone need to look into this company that has this many complaints. After constant issues with the national, corporate office, I’m ensuring that others know about this company. If the business was local and privately run by the great team here, I’d easily give them 5 stars. However, what could be seen as nothing short of unethical business practices by the corporation overshadows all of the good done by the dedicated staff throughout Wyoming. Dealing with corporate online or over the phone is by far the most frustrating experience we’ve encountered with any business EVER! Aside from the clear lack of customer service or ability to assist customers, the corporation has most recently started price gouging. I felt bad constantly calling our local man’s personal phone number to get good service. I decided to give online ordering another shot.
Please be aware that we are on autopay with our invoices being paid 1-2 days after delivery. The going rate and what they publish online in our area is $2.39/gallon. We were charged $4.06/gallon. When we called to inquire, they held to that being the correct price despite neighbors and other friends being charged much less. We finally started working with the regional manager and he was making efforts to get us on a price protection agreement. In the meantime, as temperatures plummet below zero and we’re now at 30%, we reached out again and were quoted $4.69/gallon.
After hearing this is happening to numerous people and reading other negative reviews, we’ve accepted that while we adore the local staff, we cannot justify paying such outrageous prices and are not willing to support such an unethical and uncaring company. We found a local, privately owned company that services this area. They will be delivering a 500 gallon tank and propane at $2.14/gallon on Thursday (2 day turn around). I would highly discourage selecting Amerigas if you have other options. The corporation should be charged and held accountable for what they are doing to their customers.

We are on a will call basis yet they will show up and fill up without requesting service. Received our last bill and discovered that they charged us 4.83 per gallon. At the time national average is 3.10 per gallon. Have dealt with this for many years and just want them to be held accountable for their actions. I do not recommend then in any way.

On Dec13 I went to bed with heat, I woke up with no heat. I go out and look at my tanks...One tank shows empty the other tank shows 80%...Why am I out of gas? I schedule a delivery Dec 21. The gas gets delivered...I am not home (had no idea when they were showing up because they gave me a 5 day window). I get a text saying my gas was delivered....I think yay I am good to go, but to my surprise they had locked my tanks because my tanks were empty (again one tank showed 80%). I did not go look at my tanks..Why would I...I received the text so I am thinking something is wrong with my boiler.
I call a technician to come and look at my boiler. He checked and then went to check on the tanks and saw the note on the tanks saying they were locked so he couldn't do anything. So I call on Dec 26 to make an appointment to have them unlock my tanks..The incompetent folks that answer the phones said my appointment was on Dec 30 8-12 but I received an email saying it was on Tuesday January 2nd. There is no way I would have accepted that date when I was on the phone because I am a school teacher and that was my first day back to work after winter break...So now I had to take off work.
I was told I was the first appointment at 8:30 but by 10 still no technician. I started calling trying to get a hold of someone who could actually do something which as you know is impossible because this company doesn't want customers to talk to managers (incompetent workers). The technician FINALLY showed up at noon. He was literally here for 10 min and I received a bill for over 300$ for that ten minutes. The bill states 99$ for dispatch fee, 220$ for gas leak check!!!!
When you give a window of 5 days as to when they are going to deliver gas HOW CAN YOU EXPECT FOR THE CUSTOMER TO BE HOME???? So if the customer is not home then they get fined/billed $319 because the technician had to come back. I could understand fining the customer if they said they would be home but they weren't but I had NO IDEA when they were coming to deliver my gas....If I had known, I would have been there.

We contacted AmeriGas and I paid for 100 gallons on Dec 14, 2023 and was told because our tank was so low our delivery was a priority and would arrive the next day. It didn't. They said, "Oh sorry. It will be there Sat the 16th," it wasn't. I called again and was told it would be delivered on the 21st, guess what? It wasn't. Called again, "Oh sorry. It will arrive on the 26th," it wasn't. Called to say, "We have no frigging gas and because you've never shown up or even called to tell us we had to be rescheduled we can't get another company because they are booked for 2 or 3 weeks and you have our money still." They said it was escalated again and would be the 28th, I called to verify and guess what? They don't have me on the schedule even though for the first time we got a prerecorded message saying it was supposed to be delivered today.
So no gas, no cooking or warm showers but they have our money and it will take 3-4 weeks for a refund. Do yourself a favor and go with a different company, they have no customer service and lie about everything, like drivers or scheduling not having direct numbers to be contacted, has to be email, then another agent says they will call them and get back to you, which they never do of course, I have no idea how these people still have customers, at least in Central Texas.

I was initially serviced by Heritage Propane in Marshville, NC in October of 1991. I did not even know that the company had be bought out because the trucks remained the same for several years. It’s December 2023. I’m a 66 y/o woman… When I first attempted to contact Heritage Propane, several years back, I was answered by Amerigas. Years back they overfilled my tank because the driver, while on his cell phone, overfilled my tank. Knock on my door to advise me they were bringing me a overflow tank to relieve the pressure. By this point, no one would have know who my server was because of their lack of maintaining the tank. Rustler tank, unable to read ‘who’ my server was! Then, no pick up!
Next fill, the delivery driver says she smells a leak. I called the local fire department to standby until they came and checked out any leak. It was with gas order. Again, overflow tank was still attached! They claim no leak and charged $156 for trip charge. If I didn’t pay on the spot, they refused to restore my gas. I called to remind them this was their problem, because of 3 years of the overflow tank. Also the fire marshal was coming to inspect tank. The non English speaking CS said it was my responsibility??? Where’s the record of this occurrence? This has been back and forth for several years.
They claimed I’m on a reduced rate. I checked prices from other providers to find out I was overpaying. When I confronted them, told them to remove me from the program, they informed me it would be $159.90 (magic #) to get off the program. I then told them to come get gas, I was done. They claimed it was their tank. I never started business with them, this was a transaction without any notice at all! Failure to maintain the integrity of the tank, verified by the Unión County Fire Marshal, plus charging annual tank rental? $100. It goes in and on. They then tell me to leave the company will cost me $189 to release the tank, recover any gas.
Please help me get rid of these people. I have NO SIGNED PAPERWORK BINDING ME TO THIS COMPANY!! The last fill I prepaid $400+ and they only filled $378 and do you think they credited me for the lack of a 80% fill! They are ripping off this entire county!! These surcharge fees a bogus, that came from the original Mgr from Heritage Propane after I called him when they released him from his job. Ruthless crooks!!

My experience with AmeriGas has been overwhelmingly negative, primarily due to their abysmal customer service. This review is an account of my frustrating journey with them, which I hope serves as a cautionary tale for potential customers. Firstly, the delivery service has been a major point of contention. I've had to physically chase down their drivers to ensure my propane tanks were refilled—a situation that's as ridiculous as it is unacceptable. Even a technician acknowledged that the driver for my area has been a consistent problem for many customers, yet, bafflingly, the company has taken no action against him.
Financial disputes further marred my experience. I was overcharged for the propane, given the size and number of my tanks. When I reached out to their customer service for a resolution, the disrespect I encountered was astonishing. The representative not only dismissed my request to adjust my payments but also insinuated that I was financially incapable of making payments, suggesting I seek government assistance. This was particularly offensive considering my history of always paying on time, often early.
The most disheartening aspect, however, has been the consistently disrespectful customer service over the phone. Each call seemed to escalate in discourtesy and unhelpfulness. Representatives were not just uncooperative but also blatantly rude, making the entire process of seeking assistance a dreadful experience. This disregard for basic customer service etiquette made me feel undervalued and frustrated.
I've had to email corporate to get any semblance of service, which is absurd given that I've always been a reliable customer in terms of payment. Despite my financial diligence, I've been met with nothing but contempt and inefficiency. To those in the upper valley of New Hampshire or anywhere in the state considering AmeriGas, I implore you to look elsewhere for your propane needs. The level of disrespect, rudeness, and sheer incompetence in customer service I've encountered is reason enough to avoid AmeriGas. It's clear they have little regard for customer satisfaction or service quality.
