The absolute WORST company. Incompetent across the board. Impossible to speak with anyone that's not outsourced out of the U.S. Dishonest, inflated pricing, and left me with a in ground tank that had a leak for several months without repair. Sent me a bill for the repair. Been a customer with them for 10+ years..not anymore.

We have been with Amerigas for some time. Regretfully. We tried to cancel service with them (I didn't TRY. I did yet they brought us propane after I canceled). THE DAY the new propane company was delivering they suddenly decided to bring us propane after being without for over a month during an arctic freeze. Luckily we had firewood. So because of their delivery my husband didn't want to be combative and allowed them to leave the tank and continue service. Regretfully. So fast forward to a year later. They add something to our tank. Then we continue service as usual. Winter hits. They deliver 300 gallons December, then January, then February. We get a bill for 2500 dollars and being told we were off the monthly payments and I'm getting an email about collections.
We never even missed a payment. We made two separate payments both prior to due date but SOMEHOW we were late and removed from the payment plan and sent to collections. We call them and they agreed to remove 50 cents a gallon. Then we paid them 1600 dollars. And suddenly we have another 960 bill added with no explanation, another call and they suddenly are sending an unrequested leak check and charged us another 400 plus dollars. Ironically, there's no leak. We also have no leak inside or any issue with the furnace. So explain to me why our usage would go to triple its use in one winter? We also use two radiant heat heaters in the house to "offset" the heat bill between electric/propane. I believe they have unethical business practices and am currently awaiting service through a different service.

I was with the previous company 25 years before Amerigas took over. Never had a problem. We have had instances of getting our deliveries dropped due to bad weather, even with already scheduled delivery dates. That is fine. I called Amerigas on Feb 12 to tell them I want to end our business with them and they can come and get their tank. I talked to a woman from India and a man from Africa before I could get any response.
Today- March 26- I get a bill from them for 409.76!!! I call and get somebody from India and they say the tank was picked up yesterday and that is the charge. I said- I am looking at the tank- it hasn't been picked up- and paying over $400 for said pick up is criminal. You cannot get any customer service with this company. The people were reading from prompts or whatever and I don't think they ever understood what I was saying. I am a reasonable woman and I know this isn't the representative's fault. But I am mad. Don’t use this company.

Absolutely horrible service... We ordered a fuel delivery because our tank was almost empty... We were not home when they arrived for delivery so they locked out our tank and didn't deliver the fuel stating "Customer must be home" Why? You're filling the tank... that's your job. I don't need to be there to hold your hand. You don't enter the residence to check for leaks... Just do your job. They left us without fuel for another 3 days because it was a weekend and this was during a blizzard... then charged an emergency fee to unlock it of $300. They are SCAMMING people. Their customer service dept. is based in Kenya now. Goodbye local convenience. Representative stated they would remove the extra delivery fee of $300. They didn't.

After AmeriGas allowed my propane to run out (was on automatic delivery), they delivered propane at a rate 35% higher than other companies in my area. I looked at my bills and realized they kept raising the price each delivery regardless of the market. I then switched companies and had their tanks put on the side of my driveway. I thought I was done and would have to pay the $149 pickup charge. But NO! After calling them to close my account which took literally hours to get to the right person, they charged me close to $500 for the pickup! This even after I verbally verified my charge should be $149!
Later they claimed they had upped their pickup charge. I told them I was never informed. Also they claimed they sent a technician out even so I had told them no technician was needed because the tank were already disconnected. Read the other reviews to understand how bad the customer service is. Supposedly the company denied all my claims even when I sent them my signed agreement that was about 2 years old. STAY AWAY FROM AMERIGAS!

The worst, absolutely DO NOT USE Amerigas. Sent me a quote for filing my tank, said the safety check is waived since I'm a new customer. TWO weeks later, they finally come and fill it. Get the bill, charged me 199.50 and 99.99 for a safety check! After two phone calls of over 40 min each, countless emails and chat conversations just to send them THEIR OWN EMAILED QUOTE, they finally credit me the overcharge. I've never seen a company work harder to lose a potential customer before. I own my tank so I can go anywhere I want for gas, it for SURE will never be Amerigas again.... What a joke, read the other reviews about them, insane they're still in business at all.

Run Forest, run!!! Despicable company. I was a long time customer of over 20 years. I finally left as they were charging $4.60 a gallon while everyone else was at $2.60 a gallon. Horrible experience with agent when you call. Outsourced outside USA. They don't care. No skin in the game. Switched to a local company. Still waiting for Amerigas to come pick up their propane tank. It's rusting away sitting in my front yard. I'm sure the neighbors love seeing it as much as I do when they drive by.

Their customer service is handled outside of the United States with a huge language barrier if you speak English! Don't fall for their reasonable up front rates. This company has consistently demonstrated poor communication and service, along with employees who don't want to do what they get paid for. My expected deliveries continue to get pushed back with no urgency leaving me to go below the desired percentage so now that have to perform a leak test and get more money from you.. Good luck trying to speak to a representative to solve your issue as they all are taught to say the same thing and leave you hanging.

In November 2024 I smelled gas so I called AmeriGas. I was connected to someone about 50 miles away. He said it would take him an hour to get to my house. This is fine and when he arrived, thankfully he did not find any gas leak. My complaint is that Amerigas charged me $430.34 for this episode. I have called to complain about this charge three times. Each time I am told that my request for a credit has been "elevated". But they do not know who this has been elevated to, how long it will take for me to hear back. It is now 2 months and I still do not have any response from Amerigas. Worse yet, there is no way to contact Amerigas or to complain other than to call customer service. This seems very unfair and I feel like I have been disregarded. I would like a credit to my account. Isn't there supposed to be accountability from a utility company?

Unfortunately, my tank had run low to 5%. I recognize that is my fault. When I called Amerigas for a fill up they told me the delivery window was going to be 7 - 10 days. I asked if it was possible to get a delivery any sooner. Their customer service people were of zero help except to say if I wanted an emergency delivery, I would have to pay an additional $300. I have been a customer for 15 years and have given them over $20,000 worth of business. I could NOT believe how I was treated as a long-term customer. UNACCEPTABLE!! I called a local fuel company they came out the next day filled my fuel tank, performed a leak test, and were $0.01 less per gallon. Please buy from the small local business. At least they care about their customers. I will NEVER buy from them again.

AmeriGas is by far the worst propane company I have ever had to deal with. The tank rental fees started out not too bad but then they kept upping the fees to the point that they are way higher than anyone in our area and their propane is more expensive too! When it comes to getting rid of their service it's going to cost you a fat chunk of change and a good amount of time. Every number you call plan on being on hold for at least an hour (that's the longest we waited and still no one answered). We were finally able to get a human response via online chat with Vijaypal & the other one was Mascafara. Good thing it was via text and not a phone cal. This is the response to our request to cancel their terrible service:
"I understand your request and can certainly schedule a time for tank pickup. Before proceeding, I’d like to inform you of the applicable fees for closing your account and tank removal:
Tank pick-up charge: $299.99Service dispatch fee: $119.99
Early termination fee: $149.99 (only if the tenure is below 3 years)
These fees are outlined in our terms and conditions and will be charged to your account once the tank is picked up. If you notice any discrepancies once the invoice is added to your account, please feel free to reach out for further discussion."
Read the fine print, they don't actually list the fee amounts, I'm guessing those change. "Would you like me to proceed with scheduling the pickup?" Hell yes! Get your stuff out of here! "The charges will be applied once the tank is picked up. If you’d like, once you receive the invoice, you can reach out to us for further discussion or a possible resolution." Yeah, doubtful they'll answer that call either.

AmeriGas lets customers run out of propane even if you are on automatic delivery and have the gadget that sends them signals on usage. If you call and escalate and warn them you are running out, Expect to be on phone for hour and half or more. Even If you are elderly with healthy issues with below freezing temperatures, Amerigas does not care about their customers. Amerigas does not offer weekend support or deliveries and will leave "no fuel" customers stranded for days without heat or deliveries. Note: long time 20 yrs plus good standing elderly customer with zero balance with prompt payment 20+ history left stranded with no heat for days after escalating with warnings.

Absolutely do not use this company for propane. Over the past two years, they have failed to deliver propane in a timely fashion on three separate occasions; leaving my family without hot water, heat, the ability to dry clothes, or to cook meals. Amerigas does not care about their customers and does not care if you have been on time with payment for almost 20 years. They make ridiculous excuses for why they are unable to deliver and their customer service is abysmal at best. Any calls to the company are routed to an overseas call center.
There are no means to reach the local office and the call center is either unable or unwilling to assist with any type of intervention. The only reason we even use this company at this point is that they own the tank and it costs thousands of dollars to have it removed and replaced by a more reputable business. If I could give less than one star, the rating would be more accurate. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere before you are stuck with choosing between them and paying thousands of dollars to change.

Stay away from this company. I have spent almost 4 weeks trying to return a propane tank that I have rented for years. I have gotten 1 excuse after another of why they are missing my pickup date that they told me to have a trailer moved for so that they have access. Ruth the service coordinator is horrible to say the least and lied to me about scheduling one pickup time frame and made it for another day instead without telling me. That new date was missed as well. To make matters worse, they have charged me more rent due to their negligence of not picking it up. I will have to go fight with billing again to make them remove this one too. Spoke to an authorized agent regarding the issue and all they did was reschedule a delivery. That one got delivered and I paid for it, but they never addressed the non-delivery issue - just keep getting bills and late fee notices. Been on the phone several times for over 40 minutes. Speaking to agents (most assuredly overseas - hard to understand) just gets you the runaround with no promised action taking place. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS – Dishonest, Unreachable, and Exploitative Fees. If I could give zero stars, I would. This company is an absolute nightmare to deal with. You can never reach the local office—they are completely unresponsive. The Indian call center is at least polite and answers the phone, but they lack any real authority to help with anything. Even they were unable to reach the local office and told me it would take 24-72 hours just to hear back.
I’m canceling my service, and they are demanding nearly $500 just to pick up the tanks I’ve been renting from them—tanks that I cannot return myself because they refuse to allow it. This fee is supposedly justified by the “inspection” they claim to perform on every fill-up, but that’s a complete joke. I had two separate fill-ups where the bottom stand rings were completely rusted out and at serious risk of failure. Did their techs mention anything? No. They just filled the tanks and left, leaving a dangerous situation unnoticed. The only reason I caught it was sheer luck, as these tanks are on a part of my property I rarely check.
So what exactly is my rental fee paying for? Certainly not safety or proper maintenance. This company is happy to take your money but does nothing to ensure their own equipment is in proper condition. And when you finally decide to leave, they gouge you for more money on the way out. This is the definition of a predatory company—they don’t care about safety, customer service, or fairness, just squeezing every last dollar out of their customers. Do yourself a favor and find another provider before you get trapped in their web of fees and negligence.

-I call on 2/25 and the driver left a note that the tank was "Missing Parts." -The first rep transfers me to another dept once I explain the situation. That person puts me on hold, but instead accidentally transfers me back to the start. -I start with person #2, who said she would put in a request ot refill us but could not guarantee we'd be filled before we run out. I asked her how to expedite or if I could be escalated because at this point it's one big mess and we're at 8%. She is not able to commit to a delivery date, nor will she escalate me. -I am not happy after about 30 minutes of considering, so I call back and go to a supervisor. -He reschedules me for 2/26-2/27 and ensures me all is good and the tank can be filled. -2/26 around noon, I log into my Amerigas account to see that the new delivery is gone.
I call on 2/26 and after a lot of back and forth, I am told that the tank cannot be filled because of the FG logo. While I now know this is true, they should never have told us to keep the tank (we were ready to swap and the tank was THERE in december ready to go) and this is all at Amerigas' direction. The person I'm speaking with, Vincent, tells me there is no one he can escalate me to and they cannot fill my tank. We go back and forth for some time and he is a broken record.
I truly hate Amerigas and am disgusted by the incredible lack of organization and customer service - not to mention ownership of their own bad practices. I call Customer service to find out that my tank was not filled and found out it was red tagged by the delivery person for something the agent had no idea of what it was and claimed safety. This tank is/was installed by AmeriGas over 3 years ago. Now there's an issue. I pay rent on this tank and Amerigas does not maintain it properly. What is up with this? The customer service agent (out of country) set up a delivery date in 3 days. When this didn't happen I called again, to find out that they did not set up appointments and still could not tell me what the issue was. All I received was apologies and misinformation.
2 weeks later on a scheduled appointment a tech showed up in the rain only to tell me he found the issue (the tank too close to the house) and could not do anything due to the weather and heavy truck messing up my yard. Again had to wait another two weeks for another tech to perform the service. On the scheduled day, I get home from work only to find out the work was not performed due to me not being there. I found attempted phone calls around 4 PM in the evening of missed calls and the service was not performed. Be advised that I told the call center that I was not able to take calls while at work and have dogs. I had the dogs put up and still no service. Contacted Customer service again and no action can be taken but wait another 2 weeks.
Please note that when this started I had 20% gas in the tank and now have been at 0% for over a week. Amerigas just doesn't get it. The customer service people cannot speak English clearly and difficult to talk with and do not try to escalate the issue. A few days ago I decided I would buy a tank instead of replacing it and got a good price from a local competitor. And then I thought I would check with Amerigas about purchasing the tank I already rent. Well, after 4 different calls and an online chat totaling over 3 hours, I still have no resolution. I was given 3 vastly different prices for the same tank, the last being nearly double the first price and was also told they currently are not selling tanks. I thought I was being punk'd and there would be a "Just kidding!" after being told that. Said I.
The last rep said they would submit a request for a price adjustment but that there is no guarantee for any kind of follow up - whether they adjust it or not. Just a way for them to get the customer off the phone and buy time until they call in angrily again. I spent 4.5 hours on one call and talked to 4 different people the day I was leaving for vacation. Called to follow up now after I got back and there were ZERO notes left in my file from last time I talked to them. By far the worst company and customer service I have ever experienced. Stay FAR away.

We are on auto delivery with this company in Maryland. They notified us that we were going to have a propane delivery on 2/10. Nobody showed. We have been following up with them daily only to be told that our propane delivery was rescheduled for the next day. Fast forward to 2/18 and I call them at 8 a.m. to tell them that my tank is down to 2% and that we will be out of propane by the end of day which means no heat and a low that night of 16 degrees. I was told FIVE times by FIVE different people, including a supervisor, that they would here that day to deliver. Nobody showed.
I called at 6 a.m. on 2/19 and was told we were #3 on the delivery route. Called again at 9:30 a.m. and was told that we were rescheduled to 2/20. I explained that we had no heat and it was 48 degrees in our house with projected low temps tonight of 15 degrees. All I got was an I'm sorry for your inconvenience and we will do our best to get to you on 2/20. What that says to me is that they won't be here on 2/20 either. So here I sit typing this review in a coat, gloves, scarf, cap and three layers of socks. Avoid this company at all costs. They do not care about you and do not care at all if you freeze to death in your house, can't take showers nor cook any meals.

I will start by saying I will be canceling my contract with Amerigas as soon as they fill my tank. I have been without propane for 4 days... no heat, hot water, fireplace. I am on their autofill program so I don't check my tank level regularly...came home Friday to empty tank. I checked the website and sure enough they estimate I've got 0% left in my tank ... so at least their estimate was correct! They had a "system issue" which caused them to miss refilling my tank. I have spoken to their customer support team 5x over the four days and have been escalated to a "supervisor" 3 times ... each time I was assured my delivery was set to urgent and would be delivered w/in 24 hours.
The only recourse for the supervisors is to send an email to the dispatch team, so really no escalation at all. The fact that I have had no heat or hot water for the past 4 days and it's been 30 degrees here doesn't mean anything. I just got off the phone with them again and was assured that an email was sent and my request is urgent. Waiting to see if I will get propane on day 5...

When I built my house 18 years ago, I was told natural gas was not an option. I went to a local gas co., and long story short ended up with Amerigas. After years of escalating propane prices and increased tank rental fees, I finally switched to natural gas. Trying to call Amerigas and speak with an agent is quite impossible (hold times exceed an hour... I never got through) so I finally tried a chat. That also took over 20 minutes. Now I am on the hook for the remainder of my tank rental fee ($180) + pick up fee (> $200) + a dispatch fee? ($155). In short, ending service with a company that has made over $30,000 from my account alone is gonna cost me over $500. This is near 1/4 of my disability. Customer service is non existent. I'll probably have to have part of my fence removed and restored as well. I wish I had known that natural gas was here all along.

They keep sending me a bill for tank rental that I’m not going to pay for a faulty tank that I can’t see how much gas is in there. They won’t fix the gauge when there is gas in the tank so for the third time in three years, I have run out of gas empty called them a week ago elevated from standard representative to supervisor he promised he would take care of me that was seven days ago. I'd take the star away, but it won't let me post this without it. I was an AmeriGas Propane customer for 11 years. Their prices seemed reasonable and the service was always acceptable. When they started monitoring tank levels I was thrilled and signed up for Keep Full immediately. Yesterday my heater started acting up. I ask Alexa to set the temp to 74 on My Ecobee and she came back and ask did I want to reverse the last command. Sounded a little strange but I replied no.
Shortly after my heater came on and then went off again right away. I waited a little while and repeated the command. The heater came on and ran normally. I thought it was just me. Later when it felt cool I ask Alexa to turn the heat up. Once again, the heater started and shut down rapidly. Wondering what Alexa was wanting me to reverse, I went to the thermostat and checked everything. Looked okay to me, but the technicians who installed my heater set everything up and I thought I had done something wrong.
I contacted support for My Ecobee and tried to work through the problem with them. Their Tech had me pull the unit off the wall and cross a couple of wires. He said that would make the heater start if something was wrong with the thermostat. Nothing happened and he said I should contact an HVAC tech. When the tech came, he checked everything and said there was nothing wrong with my unit. He asked me to try my stove and it didn't work either. We then checked the propane tank and the gage read -0-. By then it was almost 9:00 pm & I ran for the store hoping to get a portable heater. The store closed right before I arrived. I spent the night snuggled in my waterbed.
The 1st thing I did this morning was call the local number for AmeriGas. The man who answered was very snooty and said I had switched to “Will Call”. I explained that I had done nothing with my account except pay the bills. He insisted. He informed me that they could deliver gas today but there would be an additional charge of $300 for an “Urgent Fill”. But I'm on “Keep Full”.
Asking to speak with his supervisor he left me on hold for about 5 minutes and came back on the line saying he was transferring me to the supervisor now. That was what he said before he placed me on hold??? The longer I waited the madder I got. Sitting in front of my computer while holding for well over 30 minutes I started looking for other suppliers in the area. Still waiting for the supervisor, I dialed my cell phone and spoke with a different company. The lady emailed me an application to fill out and assured me I would have propane today.
I completed the application while I was holding. When the supervisor finally answered the phone, I explained what happened. He started with the "Urgent Call Fee" and I stopped him. I no longer want any service from your company. You were under contract to keep my tank full and your company blew it. I emailed the application back to the new supplier.
I had a tank full of gas and a working heater by 2:00 PM. When my new supplier delivered the gas, he saw the AmeriGas transmitter on the tank and his office called me before he would fill the tank. He suggested I call them and have them pick the unit up or they would continue to "monitor" my tank and charge me $200 a month for the unit. I made that call as soon as I came back in the house. I also told them I would be writing this review. I'd recommend skipping the agony and calling anyone else. AmeriGas is determined to gouge customers to their fullest extent.

I have received responses from them telling you what you want to hear and not delivering. They let us run out last month. It was freezing out and we cook with propane too. They give you an earliest and latest date and never stand by it. We were now supposed to receive our delivery on Feb 11th at the latest and no delivery.
We are at 17% and now they changed the status to Feb 16 to the 19. They call that urgent. We have made 4 calls to them and are having to keep driveway salted and free of snow. This is getting costly and our anxiety is at an all time high. We are told we will receive a call but no call back. We are told we will get emails but just empty promises. I am again worried we will run out for the second time in a row. Completely stressed out. I have called customer service 8x over 3 days, spent hours on the phone all while trying to work, they first told me my account was closed 3 years ago and they would have to reactivate it, it’s not closed, if they can’t figure it out, they just hang up on you after you have been on hold, finally this morning they transferred me to someone local.
She said there was no documentation that my tank was locked- I have the paperwork and no gas, I offered to pay the 150$ ridiculous fee upfront if they could come out, she was going to call me back- it’s 330 and no call back- at this point not expecting one. So in conclusion- I have a full tank of gas that I cannot use, it’s freezing, and I can’t even use the stove to cook. I would give it negative 5 reviews if I could. Recently however I was having problems with my heater and requested a line check to make sure it was all good. The serviceman was awesome and left me a bill (which I signed) for $199.50. When I went in line to pay it the bill was over $400, so I contacted via chat and was told to email customer service to dispute the charge. I have now emailed three times, always got an automated response that someone would contact me, but that has never happened. They then charged a late fee on my bill, so I sent them a check for the $199.50 plus $36 for late fee along with a letter explaining how I've tried to reach them to no avail. I included a copy of the bill I signed at time of service.
My check has never been cashed and I've had no contact. I recently sent a letter with the paper bill explaining that I have all the receipts for everything I've done and to date still no contact. I got a new bill which now includes a phantom charge for another $269, with no explanation. I now am on the hook for over $700 which I will not pay. I have contacted Better Business Bureau, but am not sure what to expect there. I sent them copies of my original bill, all emails and letters. Subject: Urgent Issues with AmeriGas Account and Credit Checks. AmeriGas, I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I have received from AmeriGas over the past few days. I have been a loyal customer for over 18 years and have never encountered issues regarding my gas supply until now. On January 16, I contacted AmeriGas for a routine inquiry, during which my credit was checked, and I was assured that everything was in order. However, I later received a call indicating that I needed to undergo another credit check. Initially, I spoke with Samuel, and today, I spoke with Joyce, who acknowledged that the previous email sent to me was an error on AmeriGas's part. Despite this, she insisted that I complete another credit check.
To my surprise, Joyce claimed that my credit score was below AmeriGas's requirements, even though I have an excellent credit score 840. I was subsequently transferred to Nakia, whose call was unexpectedly disconnected. I then spoke with Dorcas, who attempted to run my credit again but informed me that it was not going through properly. Finally, I was connected with Sheba, who quoted a demand for $1,592.00 and stated that she would schedule a gas delivery for Monday.
This entire experience has been both frustrating and confusing. I expect clarity and professionalism from my service provider, especially after such a long-standing relationship. I request an immediate review of my account and the processes involved in this matter. Please provide a clear explanation regarding the credit check requirements and the charges mentioned.
We are currently out of gas, and with the cold temperatures, our home lacks heat. We were initially informed that we would receive gas by Monday, February 3, 2025. However, we've now received an email stating our estimated delivery window is between February 10 and February 13, 2025, with the promise of an email notification prior to delivery. This situation is unacceptable and needs to be addressed immediately. Thank you for your prompt attention to this issue. I look forward to your swift response.

We have been customers for 10 years and always had the automated refill, so we were surprised when our gas ran out 2 days ago. When we called to find out why, we were told our account was an "on call" account, however, we were never notified of any changes to our service. The rep we spoke with first was extremely nice, but was not able to provide any real information about why we were now an on-call account, when that change was made, and most importantly, when our tank would be refilled. It's taken me 4 calls to them to get them to finally agree to apply the prepaid account to the postpaid account which is now past due because of their incompetence.
Additionally, this corrupt company tells me that I have to pay an additional $137 to fully pay off my account. My account had a Zero balance prior to all of this. I had always paid the account off promptly. I'm going to pay their extorsion to get my account settled and be done with them. We have been a customer for 24+ years and will be consulting with our attorney to cancel/close our account with AmeriGas as they have proven they do not value their customers. Unfortunately, I’m unable to give 0 stars or I certainly would.

If you're looking for a propane company, pass up on Amerigas. If you don't mind paying $5.50/gal when everyone is charging $3.75/gal, then pick Amerigas. If you don't mind paying a surcharge to get a delivery quicker than 2 weeks, pick Amerigas. If you don't mind waiting 3 weeks for a delivery, with no recourse, pick Amerigas. If you don't mind surfing through a telephone system that makes it virtually impossible to speak to a local agent, pick Amerigas. My business is located next door to a property serviced by AmeriGas. Over the past several months, every time their drivers come to make deliveries, they have caused damage to my property. They’ve destroyed planters, damaged plants, broken fences, and even torn electrical conduit off the exterior of my buildings—all with no apparent regard for how they perform their job. I’ve made multiple attempts to contact the company to resolve this issue and prevent further incidents, but they are nearly impossible to reach. If I treated my customers this way, I would quickly lose business. This lack of professionalism is unacceptable.

Customer service is the worst, impossible to contact the department to cancel service. Waited on hold three times up to 53 minutes. If you would like to contact the department to get a refill, no problem, maybe three minutes. I smelled gas and requested to have a service tech come out and check on it. He did a pressure test, said I had a leak and shut my gas off, telling me I had to get a certified plumber to find the leak. Once repaired, I asked that they come back out and turn the gas on. Three days after the call a tech came out, replaced the regulator and turned the gas on. $450.00 for the regulator (which is theirs) and $119.00 for the service call. Because of this outrageous bill I switched companies, but can't contact AmeriGas to pick their tank up and cancel my service. Their reviews are 1.5 stars. Any company with a rating that bad should be looked at!

I wish we could give negative stars... I ordered a fill on my tank (25%) on 1/16/25, and was given a delivery window of 1/23-1/27/25. Wednesday I received text AND email saying our delivery would arrive on 1/23/25 by end of day. On Thursday 1/23 I was down to 5% with NO DELIVERY. I went online to my account to update the tank percentage and see if I could put notes or anything on my status. It notified me I could get an emergency fill for $300 plus inspection and other costs between 1/23 and 1/24. I logged off and when I called that night around 6PM I was sent to overseas customer service where they simply read from a computer screen and WOULDN'T give me a direct response as to where/when my delivery was.
My propane was due THAT DAY, and you want to charge me $300+ for an emergency fill!?!?! After going in circles with this woman for over an hour I demanded for the 6th time to speak to a supervisor. I was transferred and fought with that guy about getting a priority fill put on my account since it was past 7PM and no body would be coming that day. I turned EVERYTHING OFF to my house, heat (it's been low 30's here) and left my house (dogs stayed home) to spend the night with a family member. On Friday 1/24/25 I called again and got overseas, I simply called to see if there was an update or status, and all I was told was your delivery is expected 1/23-1/27, so you "should" expect it by Monday the 27th.
Sunday came and once again I received email AND text saying my propane would be delivered on Monday 1/27 by end of day. I even called the "local number" I found online to see if I could check the status and speak to someone as it had not arrived by 4PM. I got an automated tree that told me my delivery would be here by end of day TODAY 1/27/25. By 5:30PM on Monday I still have NOT received my delivery and when I called to speak to someone they told me "you're not on the route". He then transferred us to another department that could help us. We waited on HOLD FOR AN HOUR, then we were hung up on. My husband and I are LIVID! We have locked our animals up in the house for 2 days waiting for a delivery that evidently will NEVER COME. Our animals are stuck at the house basically ALONE for the past 3.5 days while we have to vacate somewhere else because there is NO HEAT TO OUR HOUSE.
DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!! This is not even our first issue with them, and anytime you need to call to speak to someone, they are NOT in this country. There is nobody who can or will help us, and after reading these reviews I am surprised they have any positive reviews or business. This is ABSOLUTELY asinine. My family has been WITHOUT heat for the past 4 days. They say they're going to deliver and then we aren't even on their routes!!!! But they're more than happy to charge EXTRA to deliver IMMEDIATELY when my delivery is past due!!!!

The delivery driver called me complaining that I was out of her way and she wanted to come another day, when I said no she came and was in a hurry, I’m not sure an inspection was ever really done and have concerns there’s an issue with my gas line as my tank ran empty in less than a month, they are now requiring that I have another inspection done for $140 three months after initial start of service but no one will answer questions about the inspection. Fast-forward the months, and I'm in the exact same position again - automatic delivery failed, completely out of propane in the dead of winter in the suburbs of Boston, I can't cook for my family, not use my fireplaces. I had to call for an urgent delivery, the chat agent I connected with (no love customer service agent EVER answers the phone) assured me I would receive my driver's Friday or Saturday at the latest. This company is highly unprofessional. If you need customer assistance, you will receive a bare minimum response after holding on the phone for sometimes more than an hour. You will be lied to with regard to pricing and help will come from someone other than an individual located in the United States. When I called for a tank fill I was given one price. When Amerigas finally got around to filling my tank, it was higher price than quoted. Additionally, my tank was not filled to the standard 80% required but rather to 70%. According to Amerigas, this was due to the fact that their delivery truck ran out of propane. What this means to the consumer is additional fees in the way of a delivery, rifled with surcharges, fuel fees, delivery fees etc., more often AND the risk of paying a higher amount for the propane. One might suspect this is done purposefully for the above mentioned reasons.
Thankfully, we own our propane tank. What that means for us is we have the choice who provides our fill services. I sincerely hope Amerigas is put out of business due to these never ending issues, because there is always issues. I don’t have to do business with them moving forward and for that I celebrate. I was told I would have to pay more than $2 more per gallon than any other company so I switched. Well, switching comes with a $280 tank rental fee, if you have them come get your tank they charge you for cancelling your "contract" and try to force you to pay $299 for an early termination fee, $149 for a dispatch fee, and $119 for a pick up fee. Now I could understand charging to pick up the tank, but to force you to pay $569 just to cancel is insane. Since I use 1100 gallons of propane per year the fees to remove the tank are far less than what I would have to pay if I kept using them which would be $2200 on top of what I am already paying. I had to have a heating and cooling guy come to my house and check everything since Amerigas dropped the ball multiple times. My furnace guy tuned off the gas to my home. Still waiting on Amerigas to come out and check everything. I have not been able to use my furnace, water heater, stove or fireplace in one week. The customer service is a joke! If I could rate this company zero stars I would. Forget about speaking with anyone local to address your needs... That is if you actually get to speak to a real person. Everything is outsourced which makes it hard to understand the rep because of their thick accents. I've been on hold for an hour today and yesterday waiting to speak to a supervisor. Finally had to hang up each time. If I wanted someone to call me back, the earliest time was FRIDAY! We've had issues with AmeriGas for quite a while and will be looking elsewhere... Even if it means paying a fortune to replace their underground tank. If you need to put a rush order in, they'll charge you an extra $300, on top of the estimated gallons that you're expected to pay up front.
It's Wednesday today, and we were supposed to have same day service this last Monday. Just received another text that it's been changed to Thursday now. Now the tank is empty which means there is a whole other process that must be followed when the propane finally does arrive. We'll be making sure that we receive the $300 back at the very least. If this occurred rarely I'd cut them some slack. But there is an issue EVERY time!

If there were another provider for us in Cocoa, FL, we would switch. Alas, we are stuck. We called to have a gas line flagged before grading a driveway. You know, being a responsible citizen and using the "call before you dig" requirement. After the representative finished flagging a line that was at the most 15', (easily tracked, took maybe 5 minutes) he informed us that we would receive an invoice for $30 for this service. Well done Amerigas!! Making consumers pay for safety! Never mind that we were doing the right thing, trying to avoid any potential danger. Wow. Shameful practice to charge for safety.

AmeriGas is a scam and absolutely awful. I moved back to my hometown of Gaylord and bought a home that had Natural Gas and a AmeriGas tank that only fed the fireplace. At 3/Gal and like $160 yearly tank rental fee that was not worth the cost. I had to call 6 different times and wait on hold for 30 to 45 min. each time with no answer until the last. Finally, I was able to get ahold of someone who did eventually put in the cancel order. Then I got a bill that they wanted me to pay for the 30/gas in the tank that the previous owners had already paid for at the current rate of 3/gas. AmeriGas is scammy, bad business practice, awful customer service and will nickel and dime you if you don't notice.

I've been calling for the past 2 months repeatedly to get the charge off my billing as it was never delivered. Don't know where they went, but it wasn't here. Our tank meter works fine and it was still at 20%. Our fill to capacity history has never been as low as 79 gallons as we have a 500 gallon tank. Resolution supervisors say whatever they want with unrealistic resolution times, that they will call you back then don't, that billing is looking into it. At this time our tank had fallen below 20% and it was right before the holidays. I told them to fill 100 gallons only. I did witness this delivery and received the door-hang receipt. I paid for the 100 gallons and left the other amount that is in error pending. I told them I do not want this going to overdue payment due to their error. The times I reached a human speaking English (sort of), I received conflicting instructions about how to do so. No matter, because none of the instructions were correct. The company's website will not allow any changes either (such as changing the billing address to a P.O. Box instead of the house address). As a consequence, bills addressed to the house were returned to AmeriGas as undeliverable. Meanwhile AmeriGas added numerous outrageous late fees (despite the fact that the house has been unoccupied since my wife's death). So you've been warned: AmeriGas is a greedy and incompetent customer service nightmare. Even after calling and asking to cancel the account, they went ahead and charged the rental fee for 2025 on December 31, 2024 and claim that we pay for the previous year even though we had to pay the initial fee before they could deliver the tank. Our issues with them are that #1- you can't talk to anyone on the phone and actually have an issue resolved, #2- you can't physically go into a location and talk to anyone face to face, and #3- they charge residential clients a check leakage fee but do not charge business clients.

Called again on Monday to have it fixed and was informed that no techs work on weekend. The earliest I can have it fixed is around noon Tuesday. I still have no heat or gas for cooking, showers, dryer. That is their job and they can do it. So find yourself another company..

Please review link as of Nov 15, 2024. I have been researching possible suppliers and at no other provider did I see so many fees. I did not bother to get a price per lb. Unbelievable they charge you a fee just for calling for a delivery. Review ALL fees. What fees does AmeriGas pay? None. Customers pay for Amerigas expenses. Customers paying all these fees should be the owner of company.

I will be living in a travel trailer in an RV park while I’m working. The owner of the RV park told me that Amerigas services the RV’s in his park. I called Amerigas to get a tank and service set up and was told that they will not service RV’s. I told the lady that they do service the RV’s in my park so she looked it up and says ”Oh we do service RV’s but we won’t set up a new RV account”. I guess they really don’t care if people can use their furnace or not and whether their pipes could freeze or not. Their customer service is less than hospitable. I recommend not even bothering with them.

During the end of my divorce I was living in an apartment for 1 month that required you to use AmeriGas. I cancelled my service after one month’s use and paid my bill in its entirety. That was in August. It is now the middle of November, and I received a call from a billing agency for my outstanding AmeriGas bill. The total was over $300. After calling AmeriGas I was informed there was a $200 cancellation fee added to my bill, and with late charges my total bill was over $300. I am a disabled combat veteran. I live frugally off a small but cherished fixed income from the VA. I find it disgusting that they believe charging $200 to end service is appropriate, especially because I was never made aware of this fee at all. I will never do business with them in the future.

Absolute WORST gas company you could deal with!!!!!
2> After 2nd lapse of their 'auto fill program, ordered another fill up. ~~4 days later, got text alert that they were, guess what, coming to fill~~NEXT text said: could not fill as "driveway blocked!!" NO cars were in driveway & did not call or ring doorbell!! Even workers in yard said NO gas truck showed up!!
3> When called to get refill & ask why did not show up - sent notice -- got off-shore operator that would not acknowledge the no show & said next delivery would be in (8 ) or (9) DAYS!!
Ridiculous to go without gas in heavily populated Palm County Florida!!!! NEVER NEVER use Amerigas for any reason!!!!

Terrible Customer Service – Avoid AmeriGas! I’ve had the worst experience with AmeriGas and their customer service. First of all, their billing is completely confusing, and when I called to get clarification, the representative was rude and unhelpful. I was put on hold for over 30 minutes and when I finally spoke to someone, they acted like I was an inconvenience. They seemed completely uninterested in resolving my issue and were clearly just trying to rush me off the phone.
To make matters worse, they never showed up on the scheduled delivery date, and I had to waste even more time trying to get an answer from their customer service line. After multiple attempts, I still didn’t get any clear answers. It’s honestly ridiculous that a company this big can be this disorganized and dismissive of customers. If you're looking for reliable service and decent customer support, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. AmeriGas has made my experience a complete nightmare. I'll be switching to a different company ASAP. Avoid them if you value your time and sanity!

11/8/24. WARNING!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!! STAY AWAY!! Absolutely the WORST customer service WE HAVE EVER HAD. WE have called and called for help. Our tank was allowed to run absolutely dry even though we paid for a monitor device and the fuel upfront. We are in Northern AZ in the winter with NO HEAT now and our tank will not be filled until NEXT WEEK. We have been loyal customers for several years and this is how we are rewarded. On top of that, we have pre-paid for the fuel. Technically that fuel belongs to us and this company is withholding our fuel from us. AS soon as we can - we will be changing. Proceed at your own risk.

This is by far the worst business we have ever dealt with!! 0 Customer service. Bill you for things you didn’t sign up for. Took us 6 months and multiple phone calls until we finally had the billing error corrected, only to find out they had sent us to collections right after that. They now say our account no longer exists and will not help us at all. They overcharge for propane and there are options. We highly recommend Hall Propane, in the Greensboro area. You actually get to talk to someone local and they answered all of our questions, gave us a quote immediately and we were set up and ready to go in 2 days.

Amerigas some of the worst customer service of any company I’ve ever dealt with worldwide (I’ve lived in quite a few countries). I close my accounts two years ago because of their poor service and all of a sudden they pop back up, trying to deliver gas and sending me bills. Trying to deal with this has reminded me why I closed the accounts in the first place. Businesses like this should not be allowed to operate.

Terrible company to deal with. Reached out to 5 different times on website with no response. Finally called emergency call line to get a human and she was very nice. Transferred me to an inside sales individual named Carl and he just hung up on me after saying they aren't taking on any more customers. I don't leave reviews very often but this company does need it known.

When I did my online order I was quoted with a good price. Then when I got my bill price was higher. I called 2 times. Was told they will fix the bill after a month. With no changes I called again. I was told that’s the price. I can't do anything about it.

Amerigas sucks.. I've had 4 appts for a site survey.. That's taken off work times..and no one has showed. The 3rd appt was scheduled for between 8am and noon..I waited till 100 and went to work. They showed st 106 but didn't do the site survey. Scheduled the 4th time...they gave me date and time and now no one can find it on their books!! This has been going on for a month. Sad part is Amerigas has bought out all the other companies near me so I have to deal with their sorry butts.

Amerigas is a total joke....Try to call them. If you are lucky enough to get through to anyone overseas you will be put on hold multiple times. Finally after multiple calls over 1 hour each time I was assured I had a delivery scheduled.... Come to find out after my follow up call days later they had no record of delivery. Had to start over with them.... Still waiting for new tank.

Out of gas for 13 days (so far). Delivery dates are not honored. Chat operators just cut and paste the same thing. No communication, no followup, and I believe intentionally dishonest. I can't think of a time I have been more disappointed with a service provider. BTW, I'm only out of gas because they said they delivered 2 months ago and they didn't (unless of course they were able to trick 3 security cameras and not disturb the tank cover). Since I had to pay in advance, I'm out of luck on that one.

Smelled propane and called a plumber to do a safety check. Found a leak around the furnace regulator and replaced, rechecked, all good. We were out of propane so placed a call to Amerigas and was quoted $4.19/gal and informed that since our tank is empty, they would need to do a leak test of their own for $140, even though our tank is leased and their property. I informed them we already had a leak test performed, and a repair done and tested, and that I would not be paying them to confirm their own. They informed me it has to be done and that I can call back after delivery and discuss having the charge removed. Also delivery would be scheduled for 7-10 days from the time of the call unless I agreed to pay $300 emergency fill fee. I declined.
The average cost of propane in Texas is $2.80/gal so I called them back after reading others had negotiated down their price, and all they would decrease it to was $3.98/gal. They canceled the previous order and put a new one in for the lower price, which then bumped my delivery date back. We are held to Amerigas because they own the tank and have a monopoly, but I have call in to purchase the tank (also a call back average wait of 7-10 days) and plan to get out from under this horrible company who has outsourced all of its customer service to the Philippines.

AmeriGas is the worst! Although their pricing is decent, their service is horrible! You get what you pay for. First of all their Customer Service overseas is a complete nightmare! You can't get clear answers and nothing resolved. Prior to getting propane delivered I have to pay upfront. I paid my delivery then the propane was delivered late as usual and then several weeks later I am told I have a balance due for the same exact amount of $344.96 which I already paid for the recent delivery. The Customer Service Rep was rude and said I still have to pay without giving me a clear answer why I am being charged twice. I need to speak to someone in the US that can clearly look into this and resolve this issue. There is no one in the US that you contact which is totally crazy! AmeriGas takes advantage of their customers. I should have never switched my service to them after ready all the bad reviews! They really need to be better!

Flee from using AmeriGas as your propane delivery company at all costs; you'll save yourself time, money, and aggravation. So sorry we were their customers for 20 years. As I read the reviews on this website, all I can say is "Ditto, ditto, ditto." They double charged us to the tune of $1300 (they only show about $1100) and still no refund check, despite months of follow-up calls as to its whereabouts and promises by AmeriGas that the check is "in process." Different story by the customer service reps every time; no chance to talk with anybody who can really resolve the issue. I've also tried emailing AmeriGas and was given two different addresses; probably both went to the cyber circular file. They've held onto our money for almost a year; it's theft.
