We ended our service with AmeriGas in January and subsequently received a final bill that appeared significantly inflated. When I first contacted customer service, I was told the amount was due to the tanks not yet being picked up. We then rescheduled the pickup and waited for the tanks to be collected so the final bill could be adjusted accordingly. The pick up did not occur, so I called again to reschedule pick again. After the tanks were picked up, I called again and was informed that the final bill was correct. I challenged the amount, as it was nearly $2,000 simply to retrieve empty tanks. I was told there was nothing that could be done. I requested to speak with a supervisor and received the same response—that the bill was correct and no adjustments could be made and was told there was no one higher that this could be escalated to.
Over the course of several weeks, I made multiple follow-up calls. During one call, a representative mentioned that they might be able to waive a $119 service fee, but again stated the overall bill was accurate. I requested another escalation and was advised they could send a message to the territory manager and transfer me to corporate. Once I spoke with corporate, it was quickly determined that the bill was in fact incorrect. We had been billed for the pickup of large propane tanks rather than the smaller tanks we actually had. After four separate calls and conversations with approximately 8 different representatives—each confirming that the bill was correct—it took just one conversation with corporate to identify and correct the error.
I would like to extend a sincere thank you to Andrea (“Andy”) from the Relationship Management Team for resolving the issue. The final bill was adjusted from nearly $2,000 down to $250. However, it is concerning that none of the representatives I spoke with earlier identified such a significant billing discrepancy. I spent several weeks and multiple hours on the phone trying to resolve this issue, which should have been caught much sooner. This experience suggests a need for improved training and escalation procedures within customer service to prevent similar situations in the future.

I think I have written only one review in my life, but I feel like I need to tell people that this company is really bad. Not only are they charging $4.549 per gallon, but after I have owned my own tank for 13 years, they sent me a bill for "renting" one of their tanks. When I called to tell them the mistake, they said they cancelled the bill, and yet my credit card was billed for it the next day. Then, they randomly sent me another bill for $1550.00 in an email (without any tank fill), and told me that my credit card was going to billed that day for this amount! I don't know what in the world is going on with this company, but it's NO BUENO!

Just like all of the other reviews before me, I wanted to put zero stars if not negative 5 stars. This place is the absolute worst of the worst. They are evil and deserve to suffer in hell for all of the grief they've cause. I have been trying to deal with them for almost a month, and they have taken no accountability and treat you how you would expect to be treated by a call center in the middle of the world with no idea about what we're going through. My 84 year old mother with dementia and various other health issues has not had any heat since the beginning of February. It is now March 3rd and still no sign of them showing up and doing their job.
The first visit was simple, they just needed to get my mother's heat back on and working. They then said that she would need to hire a 3rd party plumber to check for an appliance gas leak. And in the process of doing so, they locked the tank. So now a plumber is there not able to check for a leak because the ** at Amerigas locked the tank. Then they inform my mother that they will charge her some ridiculous fee to unlock the tank!!! I know, insane and dishonest business practices, right? My siblings and I live out of state and have been calling every day trying to resolve this, but have had our calls disconnected, hung up on, suddenly sent to the on hold music. These cowards actually just pay a call center to deal with all of their business rather than doing any of the work themselves. It is unbelievable to the level of incompetence and apathetic attitude they've had the entire time.
We're at the mercy of this horrible corporate company that doesn't care about anything except for their bottom line. We would gladly switch business with some local honest business, but the tank is owned by them, which previously was a local company that was respectful and cared. But leave it up to being bought up by a corporation to throw their quality down the toilet. Avoid this company at all costs!!! They will only incur misery and frustration and don't care whether my mother lives or dies without heat! I wish upon them the suffering of a million years for what they're currently putting my mother through!! Shame on every single one of them!

If there was a zero star this company should be zero. We inherited a rented tank on a house purchased. We turned the gas off and they kept charging us monthly for gas we did not use. Attempts to resolve the issue with customer service, resulted in lies. We asked to have the tank removed and was billed $445.23 for the pickup charge and a service dispatch fee. In our opinion they are crooks. We could not get away from them fast enough. Apparently, looking at the other reviews many would agree with us.

Stay away from this company. Terrible service, rude ** customer service. They turned my propane off for a leak in line outside my home during the coldest weather of the year and never came back to install a temp line for my heat. I called several times to get something done and got nowhere. When I called back, they had no record of me calling till I read off the case number to prove I did. After three weeks without heat they final scheduled an appointment, but I had to wait another week. I strongly told the ** that couldn't speak english that I needed heat now. He hung up. I then called Amerigas corporate headquarters to complain and was directed back to India. Canceled after that and I am still waiting for them to get their tank. Do NOT use this company.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They never fill the tank when they say they are going to, so I cancelled service with them four months ago. I have been trying for 10 weeks now to have the tank removed. They are going to charge $420 to remove THEIR tank (which is in breach of the original contract) if they ever decide to show up. They have scrubbed all of their local office locations from the internet, and if you try to call a local number you will be routed to a national call center. DO NOT deal with AmeriGas!

This is the absolute worst company ever. Just horrific. The worst business I have ever dealt with for anything. Like a fool I stuck with them for 8 years. Extremely high rates for propane, service, and fees with horrible service. Let me run out last year in February and never made a delivery the rest of the season after 7 attempts to get them to come. Paid every bill within 24 hours yet they never did their part. Then charged me $500 to pick up their tanks when I ended "service", even though the fee is listed as a ridiculous $300. Everyone other than the deliver personnel are complete scumbags. Take my advice, go anywhere else!!!

I have been with Amerigas for 12 years with some issues in the beginning but otherwise no problems….until this year. Twice I had delivery issues the second being this past week. I am running on fumes right now. I went out and bought a couple electric heaters to get through the storm because after receiving emails and speaking to customer service several times, my delivery never came. Their customer service is disconnected and unsympathetic. They could’ve cared less about the fact that I was going to run out of propane and there was a potential blizzard coming. I will be contacting them tomorrow to cancel my service and tell them I’ll let them know when they can pick up their tank. I don’t know what’s going on with this company, but it’s not good.

I doubt Michael ** will ever read this, but he has NOT "turnaround AmeriGas, including initiatives to return customer service centers to the US and improve billing/logistics. A two week widow to provide gas? Nickeling and Diming the customers. It is outrageous that AmeriGas said that they were delivering gas and did not. Said their 6 year old tank was worth $1290, yet charged me $1460. Said if I didn’t want the tank, I would cost $419 not to use it anymore and I’d have to give them a 30 days written reason why. Another company told me that I should have told AmeriGas to stick it and not paid it. AmeriGas also charged me for a rental that I’d never use - $168 also down the tubes. AmeriGas still hasn’t returned $380 for gas I’ve never received and was $1 more per gallon than what other companies charge.
When speaking with a “customer service representative,” I could not speak with someone above him. His name was “Michael,” which is a fake name. He could barely speak English and was hard to understand. I’ve called AmeriGas more than 4 times in the past two weeks and I sounds like the company has outsourced all the calls to another country. Not very “American” as the name suggests. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and putting my review on every form of social media. Worst company ever. Mr. ** I wouldn’t say you live up to your name. Or maybe you have. Your company sure has cut us and bleed us, but people can fight back. I truly think you need to rethink your business model.

On 1/17/26 I requested a fill up of my tank from AmeriGas. My tank at the time read ~30%. On 1/20/26 the driver arrived to make a delivery. We received 2 invoices for that delivery. The first is for 285.3 gal, or approximately 57.06%. According to this invoice, I only had 114.7 gal or 22.94% left in my tank. That would mean I used between 25 gal and 35 gal, or 5% and 7%, in three days. Since my current reading shows my tank at 66%-68%, I have used approximately 14% in 31 days. That's 2.25 gal or <0.5% daily during the coldest weeks this winter by far. And to add insult to injury, I also received a second invoice for the 1/20/26 delivery. This invoice is for 28.2 gal or approximately 5.7%. It also duplicated all the extra charges on the first invoice, including HazMat Fee, Fuel Recovery Fee, Paper Invoice Fee, Will Call Conv. Fee, and the State and County Sales Tax.
Added together, they delivered 313.5 gal or 62.7%. That would mean I only had 86.5 gal or 17.3% left at the time of delivery. A usage of approximately 21 gal or 4.25% daily for 3 days. I called Amerigas 3 times about this issue on 1/29/26 at approximately 11:00 AM, on 2/12/26 at approximately 10:30 AM, and on 2/20/26 at approximately 2:00 PM. I never received a call back.

If I could rate zero stars that would be my rating. I have spent 3 months trying to get my rusty tank removed from my property we bought 3 years ago. We never filled the tank as we were remodeling. We asked to buy the tank that has been here for 17 years and they offered $700 the price of a new tank. Wow! I then said I wanted it removed as that was rediculous for a 20 year old rusty tank. Then they said it would be $245 for us to have it removed plus $162 early termination for again a 20 year old tank plus our $133 rental fee. Unreal! Took 3 months and 5 managers from other countries to say they wouldn’t help me. We ended up dropping the tank off in front of their local office. This is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I am also writing the Attorney General. This company is a fraud!!!!

My mother used Amerigas with a rented tank. After my mother died, I caught her bill up and continued to use it in the home. She had had the service for over a decade when Amerigas suddenly decided that the tank was in an unsafe place even though I’ve been in the same place all those years. They said they must move it. I came home from town one day to find they had not just moved it, but rather replaced it with a smaller older tank. They took my tank which was much larger and had some fuel in it.
When they came and filled the smaller tank, I walked out and asked the driver what was the safety problem? He had reported he he blamed it on a Amerigas. Amerigas had blamed it on him. I asked for a receipt for the propane. He had just put in a small tank and he would not give me one. He said he would mail it. He never did. I had to call into Amerigas to find out what the cost of filling that tank was and learned it was $1502. The small tank holds the maximum of 210 gallons allow allowing nothing for my gas which they took in the large tank I was renting. I have disconnected from Amerigas and suppose I will wind up in a court battle. To make matters worse the old tank contain dirty gas, which has messed up my appliances. My gas cook stove, no longer works, and my in-line gas hot water heater has an error message on it now.

Horrible company, stuck with them due to purchasing our home in 2005 with a leased tank. Always make you wait 2 weeks or more for delivery, overcharge customers usually by $1.00 per gallon over the state's average sales price. Ordered propane over 2 weeks ago, tank was at 38%, still no delivery and now they say it may take up to 4 weeks, we are now ay 19%. Customer service said they ran out of propane. They advertised under new management a few years ago but got worse. Propane companies are not regulated by the government which used to mean a good thing but unfortunately Amerigas is a company that needs regulations.

I called Amerigas for the smelling of gas in my home. I could not tell the reason why and I needed help. I called Amerigas at 1:40 PM on 2/2/2026. I had shut the thermostat as gas fume was blowing through it, shut the water heater valve before a delivery service man from Amerigas showed up 6 hours later and told me that he was there to deliver gas. He stated that he has no business checking the gas smell in my home and suggested I call my HVAC company and a plumber to look for leaks. The delivery man, Joseph **, stated that the tank was totally empty, and his supervisor authorized him to fill my tank to the top. I told him that my tank is not supposed to be totally empty and more, so Amerigas has consistently refused to address the tank gauge which was not showing the amount of gas they claimed was in my tank after delivery on 12/27/25. Before then, our tank gauge was working perfectly.
I also told him that I am the customer and he should only fill the tank half for now as I cannot afford to pay for a full tank filling. He told me he either listens to his boss or no gas delivery at all. He then locked my tank and asked me to call back when the gas leak is resolved. I called Jhood HVAC services and they confirmed that my furnace that serves my main floor and basement is totally gone and the gas fume was coming from those appliances that operates on gas, both the furnace and the water heater. I had the furnace replaced immediately to save me from the cold. I called Amerigas more than 8 times on that same day that the furnace was replaced to e and I need them to take the lock from my tank and to inspect the remaining appliances-Stove, fireplace and water heater. The service man took the lock of and confirmed that the water heater will not restart. Hence, I have to replace the water heater yesterday.
I have filed a complained against this company with their so-called resolution team for causing my tank to run completely dry and empty causing hazardous conditions in our home and destruction of vital appliances that need to be replaced now to the amount of 16,000 dollars. I filed the complaint on 2//4/2026 but no one has reached out to me. Since 12/27/25 when this company claimed that they made delivery, the gauge on my tank was not showing the 70% that they claimed was on the tank. My husband and I made several calls to Amerigas to check the tank gauge so that we could appropriately monitor the gas level but unsuccessful. We called other gas companies, and they advised that it is the responsibility of Amerigas to fix the problem. We had no issues with paying for the repair.
When Joseph ** filled my tank against my order, the gauge was immediately showing the right amount of gas. Amerigas did not fill my tank with the 149.2 gallons of gas that they claimed they delivered and that was why my gauge was reading low. I had about 30% gas before this delivery. My tank gauge was not broken. They had manipulated it. That bill was paid in full in the total of 500 dollars. However, with each call to AmeriGas, the representative would convince us that the tank level was 70%. Every technician, representative or serviceman from this company is crude and unhelpful. No amount of money will be paid to Amerigas without involving a third party.
Due to recklessly ignoring our need for a working gas tank gauge (and now the indication that our tank was never filled on 12/27), lying to us that our tank was 70% even though the gauge could not confirm this, Amerigas has caused unexpected expenses and emotional stress to us. Here are the bills that I have received from Amerigas for the same delivery Joseph ** made on 2/2/26:
#1 1, 448,95 on 2/2/2026#2 1, 799.94 on 2/3/2026
#3 2,266.43 on 2/7/26
Amerigas continues to cause emotional stress for us in addition to the unexpected financial burden incurred as a result of their horrible customer service. Please help to share my experience with these cruel and crafty people and assist in any way you can. Thank you.

I had been with Amerigas for 21 years. When I first started out, they were great! There was a Local office you could call that had helpful, friendly people you could talk to receive deliveries and service. That was then, this is now. None of that is happening anymore. $4.99/gallon while every other provider in my area is more than half that price/gallon.
Plus, they want $300 on top of that because my tank is at 10 per cent. Then, delivery was 10-20 days out. Cancelled with Amerigas, and already replaced their tank with another provider. Amerigas picked up their tank, after which I was expecting to pay a fair and reasonable pick up charge that was according to industry standards. No, pickup charge of $299.99, and a service dispatch fee of $119.99 for a grand total of $419.98! I had quadruple bypass surgery on 1/20 and was released from the hospital on 1/24. Tank refill was scheduled for 1/26 to 1/29. During the early morning hours of 1/29, my propane furnaces ran out of propane as my tank was near 0 when I checked it. I immediately called and was advised it would be delivered that day or the next. The temperature in my home dropped to 50 degrees fahrenheit.
After repeated attempts It was not until I reported a gas leak on 2/3 in order to be heard. My tank was partially filled to 50% on that day and driver Julie advised the company was facing a shortage, which was the first time I heard of such. She advised that she would, subject to her supervisor's approval, come back and completely fill my tank. Moved into our home in 2021. Tank was full when we moved in. When we needed a refill in the winter my husband set things up. He forgot to set up the automatic payments and we were late. No longer able to make payments monthly, can only pay in full. We cannot afford to pay 1000+ in full. We now have to pay for the minimum order of 100 gallons at a time (280-350 depending on gas prices) in full. AmeriGas requires a credit check in order to re qualify for the payment plan. We have done credit checks twice a year for the last 4 years and still get denied. One year we took out a loan to cover a full tank because we didn’t want to go through the hassle of monthly orders of 300 dollars in the winter.
Our bank approved us for a loan for propane but the propane company itself wouldn’t approve us based on our 680 credit scores, 99% on time payment history, and 160k/yr income. AmeriGas is hurting its customers with this policy. The call center is no help. I spent a week working with a supervisor to get back on the payment plan option. He told me he submitted something to get us on monthly payments. Told me it would take 24-48 hours to complete…. Called back 72 hours later and it was still not complete. I call back 24 hours later and another person says that the supervisor did not actually do anything to help us. I am at my wits' end with this company. I just want to pay monthly payments on my propane. I’m very close to calling it quits (and breaking our HOA rules) and going with a company that actually cares about it's customers.

Been a customer for 2 decades and never had to call but my experience was ridiculously frustrating. Extreme lack of customer service that is helpful and is difficult to understand. Called on January 19, 2026 and was told gas would be delivered between January 26 to 29 and I would receive a text message the day before delivery. No delivery or text. Called again and finally talked with someone who told me delivery would be January 31. No text or delivery (felt like Ground Hog Day). Called again and now very low on gas. Put off until February 4. If you ask to talk to a supervisor 3 times I was put on hold for more than 40 minutes each. Finally gave up. Recordings tell you "we want to hear from you". They don't! The recording said to check My Amerigas account on-line for delivery date which never changed from the January 26 to 29 date. No local office anymore. Looking for a new company.

Stay away from this company. I was a loyal customer for many years. I had a 100 gal tank for my gas fireplace. A clause, not in the contract I signed, that there is a $299.00 charge to pick up the tank. They won't let you deliver it yourself. This is an overly absorbate charge. For your best interest, stay away from these folks. BTW, their service department is in India not the US. So Amerigas my ass.

After running out of gas a couple of years ago, I signed up for the automatic delivery plan. My tank has a sensor that shares the level of gas in the tank to faciltiate this. Due to severe weather, the scheduled delivery was delayed and then completely forgotten about so, in the meantime, I have been without propane (heat and hot water) for 5 days. I updated the level on the tank manually online to 0% several times, but each time it defaulted back to 5% and said I had three days of estimated gas remaining. This could explain the lack of urgency in delivering the propane.
Why have the ability to update the tank level if that input is ignored? I have called several times regarding this to the call center and was assured that the propane was going to be delivered on a certain date, but this did not happen, and the date keeps slipping probably because the system still shows I have gas when I have reported both to customer service and online that this is not the case. When the company had local customer service, such situations did not occur and the apparent breakdown in communication was not an issue. Companies obviously outsource customer service overseas to save money, but when this leads to the completely unreliable of service that has taken place, this becomes an epic fail that leads to the extremely low customer ratings on this site. As a businessman myself, I would hope someone takes note of this, but I am not holding my breath.

We have been loyal customers for over a decade, are on the automatic fill option - we have been scheduled for delivery with no delivery for weeks. As many others we have called, put arrive inquiry thru the online options and nothing. Upon calling and asking why I couldn’t reach my local office directly like in the past I was told the agent has no ability to talk to the “local provider” because surely someone is scheduling a delivery route, etc. At the local level. This is unacceptable and we will be running out of propane since the tank is under 10 percent.

Set for 31st...nothing. February 1st...nothing. Called on 2-2... made several calls after repeated 30-minute holds. Finally...guess what... TOMORROW. But they will waive the urgent fee. Nice of them. I am writing on behalf of my elderly parents, who are long-time customers of AmeriGas. While we have experienced numerous service issues in the past, the incident that occurred today was by far the most upsetting. During a snowstorm, the delivery driver arrived and immediately began yelling profanities at my 77-year-old father, refusing to back up to the tank and insisting he would not drive "on the ** yard." My father politely told him it would only take a couple of minutes to clear the area. He went to get his equipment, and by the time he returned, the driver had backed up to the tank. When my father approached, unaware that the hose was already out, the driver again launched into a profanity-laced tirade, repeatedly shouting that he was not putting gas in the tank and that my father should “call the ** fire department.”
This behavior was completely uncalled for and deeply disrespectful, especially towards an elderly customer trying to ensure heat for his home in dangerous winter conditions. To make matters worse, their tank, which was at 42% on Monday, dropped to 8% by Friday. This sudden drop raises serious concerns about a potential leak—especially since the tank is over 30 years old and owned by AmeriGas. Instead of sending someone to inspect it, the company is attempting to charge my parents a service fee just to check for a leak. Now, my parents are left in a cold home without gas until February 9–16, all because of a driver’s rude behavior and a company unwilling to prioritize elderly customers’ safety and comfort. We are extremely disappointed in AmeriGas's lack of professionalism, accountability, and customer service.

As a customer, every time you call, you will get an automated prompt. You will NOT have an option to speak to a human being. If you try, you'll be put on hold for literally hours .. usually until the phone call drops. If you try their chat bot on the website, they will give you the option to transfer to an agent but the agent never picks up the chat. There is literally no customer service. They must keep their overhead down by not hiring human beings in customer service. This is reality, folks. If you sign up with them, expect this. You've been warned.

I wish I could rank them zero stars. Avoid this company if you want dependable and timely delivery of propane. On my most recent attempt to get a fill up, they scheduled two different delivery dates and missed both. They did not reschedule after either missed date, I had to call to reschedule. The “customer service advocates” seemed unable to do anything except read what I could view online myself. I called at least 10 times attempting to get delivery rescheduled, ultimately I spoke with a supervisor. They blamed icy roads for failing to deliver, but icing only occurred AFTER both missed deliveries. They changed the delivery to urgent status, assuring me that I’d get a text when delivery was rescheduled. No texts were received. After at least 10 calls, and after 18 days, they finally delivered (still with no text received).
I’ve had three deliveries from Amerigas over two years and had similar experiences with each delivery. I will NEVER use them again, even if their prices are lower than the competition. I’ve found a local company where the phone is answered by someone there in the building. I’ll be using them going forward. No matter how cheap it is, Amerigas’s low price is meaningless if I have to wait weeks for delivery and worry all the while about running out of propane for heat and emergency generator. Today I called to discontinue service, and was advised that fees to come and pick up their tank will total more than $425. I am submitting this review as part of a formal complaint regarding AmeriGas Propane’s failure to provide reliable service, proper communication, and reasonable care to customers who depend on propane as an essential utility for heat. I have repeatedly requested notification when my propane tank drops below 30%. Despite these requests, AmeriGas failed to notify or act, allowing my tank to run completely out of propane during freezing weather.
I have been waiting for a delivery since Thursday. I received multiple text messages stating that my delivery would occur the following day. Each time, no delivery was made. These repeated confirmations caused reasonable reliance that heat would be restored, yet no delivery occurred. Today, I contacted customer service directly and was explicitly assured that a delivery would be made today. Shortly afterward, I received another message stating that AmeriGas was unable to deliver, with no alternative solution, escalation, or emergency assistance offered. As a result of AmeriGas’s failure to follow through on documented service commitments, my household was left without heat in dangerously cold conditions, creating a serious safety risk.
I am also deeply concerned that this pattern of delayed and canceled deliveries appears to pressure customers into paying a $300 “emergency delivery” fee once propane has fully run out. I want to be clear that I never requested emergency service, and I was not even offered or enrolled in automatic delivery. Allowing customers to run out of propane and then charging excessive emergency fees raises serious concerns about unfair or deceptive business practices.
The lack of empathy, accountability, and urgency shown by AmeriGas is unacceptable. This experience demonstrates a pattern of misleading communication, failure to honor service commitments, and disregard for customer safety, which warrants review by state consumer protection authorities and the Better Business Bureau. I strongly urge AmeriGas to review its delivery practices, customer communication policies, and billing procedures. I would caution any household that relies on propane for heat to carefully consider these issues before choosing this company.

Of course it is still within the delivery window because every time it gets to the end of the window and they still haven’t delivered, they extend it. I believe I may expedite my payment to them within my own window. I would rate Amerigas zero stars if I could.

AmeriGas sent a representative for an unsolicited service call. I did NOT request the service. There was no issue with the tank and he did no maintenance nor did he put any gas in the tank yet I was billed $319.49. I have made numerous attempts to resolve the dispute but have found their customer service line very cumbersome and difficult to navigate. I was told that management would review the case and get back to me. I also sent a letter but they have never responded. Instead they keep adding late payments fees. A few months ago they also failed to fill my tank even though I was on the auto fill program then they wanted over $300 in service fees to make an unscheduled delivery.

AmeriGas has been an absolute disaster for years, but this year is beyond unacceptable. I am on automatic delivery every 23 weeks and somehow haven’t had a delivery since March—which resulted in us completely running out of gas. That alone is inexcusable. When I called to fix their failure, I spent over 45 minutes fighting through their system just to get an “urgent” delivery scheduled. The promised delivery window was 24 hours. That window has now come and gone, and guess what? Still no gas.
No accountability. No follow-through. No concern for customers being left without the ability to cook (thankful we have electric heat). AmeriGas has mastered the art of taking payments while failing to provide the most basic service they exist for. If you’re considering AmeriGas, save yourself the frustration and look literally anywhere else.

Called again today; we will charge you a delivery fee. Tank is rented. When I ordered gas I am told that we will call the driver and let him know to put a cover on. The driver did not know about it. They are all liars. Drivers are very nice. When the regulator blows again; are they going to replace the regulator?

Ever since my local supplier Liberty Propane, St, Albans, VT was purchased by AmeriGas thing have been consistently going downhill. There have been at least two deliveries, in the middle of winter, when my propane was delivered with barely 1 day supply remaining in the tank. This is NOT acceptable considering that zero and sub-zero temperatures are common in VT during January and February.
Just recently, a delivery was refused during an active snow event. It was actively snowing and I literally watched the driver drive past my house without even stopping... then 10 min later received a text that the delivery was refused due to snow in my driveway. At that time there was about 1.5" of snow in my driveway AND the town roads had not been plowed. If 1.5" of snow in my driveway was too "dangerous" then the delivery truck driving on un-plowed roads should have been equally dangerous. After the snow stopped I snow blowed my driveway. I made multiple calls to customer service to have the un-plowed driveway restriction lifted but it was never cleared. 10 days later, on my 3rd call, and only after reaching a representative who actually listened and understood the situation, lifted the restriction.
I never received any follow-up about when the delivery was scheduled. In fact, the day they attempted to re-deliver is was again in the middle of a snow storm. This time I was not so stupid, for 3" of snow I snow-blowed and shoveled a path to the tank 3x. In fact, it was while I was shoveling a path for the 3rd time when the driver showed up. He was acting like he was not going to deliver again... BUT this time I caught him in the act, and quite literally I was just finishing clearing my driveway and path and the driveway was clearly marked with snow plow markers, so there really was no argument that he could make.
It is like AmeriaGas is going out of the way to create situations where their customers are refused delivery so that they will be charged extra fees. I was a Liberty Propane customer since 2000 and never once in the time that Liberty owned the business did I ever have a problem with delivery or service. Now in the past couple years that AmeriaGas is running the business I have had problems with service and deliveries nearly every year. Saying that I am an unhappy and dissatisfied customer is putting it mildly. It is going to take a long, long time before I ever give AmeriaGas a high rating.

Amerigas has been nothing but a headache since taking over for a locally owned company. Last winter deliveries could never be properly orchestrated despite following the policies outlined on the website and the recommendations of customer service representatives. At one point, the tank went dry, and Amerigas tried to charge additional fees for reconnection and gas leak check. It’s as if Amerigas has a fleet of 2 trucks, and one is out of commission. After months of frustration, we wanted to switch to a different provider, but due to NUMEROUS, EXPENSIVE charges, we have not been able to make a change.
This winter Amerigas sent an email that customers were heard and delivery improvements were priority; in real life it’s the same garbage. Amerigas gave me a 4 day window for a delivery—no delivery ever came. When I called, a CSR said she would escalate the delivery, and the manager said she’d waive the $300 escalation fee!! Amerigas is scamming people. I paid $570.08 to fill my tank to 80%. The driver came out, my tank was 31% that morning. When he started messing with it the percentage dropped to 26%. Then he left, no receipt, nothing. I was home the whole time. I have security cameras and screenshots. They tried to soak me almost $400 more when I called and complained I got scammed to "replace a gauge" that they argued with me was faulty and that I was filled to 80%. The tech they sent contradicted everything their people in India (because no USA service reps) told me. They said, "Oh, give it a few hours to raise to 80%," then when I called back the gauge was broke.
The next day their digital gauge they have installed miraculously showed 80%. However, the day the tech came out he verified there was only 59% in my tank. So, not only did I lose 6%, but I got scammed out of 21%. It's time to contact news stations to get anything resolved with this company who keeps lying and shifting the blame while trying to scam me out of more money. The digital gauges are already proving to be easily tampered with.

❌ Urgent medical care situation dismissed
❌ Zero callbacks despite promises
❌ No documentation of interactions
❌ Forced to miss work
❌ Outsourced service with zero accountability
❌ Required payment info for $440 service never provided
You deserve better. Your family deserves better. Choose a company that keeps its promises. If you value your time, your safety, your sanity, and your money: RUN FROM AMERIGAS. Choose literally any other propane company. Pay more if you have to. Drive farther to find another provider. It's worth it. AmeriGas: The Name Says It All - Full of Hot Air. I have documentation to prove every claim.
On December 12th and 13th, I received written email confirmations for propane delivery with a text confirmation. Then received chat/text confirmation specifying delivery between 4:30-5:30 PM on Saturday, December 13th. When 6:30 PM arrived with no delivery, their automated system said delivery was "still coming" and would arrive "by end of day." My family waited until midnight. Nothing came. Monday morning, a representative finally told me AmeriGas does not deliver on Saturdays or Sundays. Their system sent multiple written confirmations for services they don't offer. That's how their system operates.
A Medical Care Situation They Ignored. Our propane gauge reads 95% full. And 2 technician from another company confirm this reading... It is completely empty—a dangerous malfunction. This was urgent. I care for two elderly family members, ages 89 and 92, who require hot water daily for their medical care and hygiene. Without propane, we have no hot water. Without hot water, I cannot provide necessary care for these vulnerable seniors.
When I relayed this—both the faulty equipment AND the urgent medical care situation—there was no urgency, no concern, no action. Complete indifference to elderly, vulnerable individuals. AmeriGas said "you own the tank"—making this dangerous failure my problem. But their previous technician should have noticed this faulty meter and alerted us immediately. Instead, they left us with equipment we couldn't trust.
Customer Service: Empty Promises and Incompetence. Monday morning, I took time off work for this crisis. Started calling at 7:00 AM and ongoing. Told a supervisor would call back. No call. Called back. Told the issue was "escalated." No call. Called back a second time. Same script. No call. Called back a third time. Had to repeat everything because there were no notes in the system. When supervisors claim they're escalating an urgent issue involving elderly family members with medical care needs, but there's zero evidence in the system, what am I supposed to conclude? It is now 10:20 AM on 12/15/25. I still have:
No callback from escalation supervisorNo confirmation of when or IF delivery is coming
No hot water for elderly family members' essential care
Lost wages from missing work
AmeriGas required my credit card for $140 plus a $300 expedited fee—$440 for service they confirmed and failed to deliver. AmeriGas uses a customer service center outside the United States. Every call: different person, different response, endless scripted apologies. I don't need apologies. I need action and truth. Apologies don't fill empty tanks, fix faulty gauges, compensate for lost wages, or provide hot water for elderly family members. Making customers repeat themselves because you can't maintain records isn't a "communication issue"—it's incompetence. All statements based on my documented experience with AmeriGas. I have retained all emails, texts, and call records.

Ok seems like no one did their job until after I called in February, but why am I getting a Bill for something that then happened in September 2025? She doesn't know but she doesn't have the authority to correct the situation, but will require me to open an account in order to put in a request to close the account!!!??? What???? No, I don't care how you do it or what your procedures are, but do not reopen the account, talk to your boss and void the bill or direct it to the current owners (The people I sold it to, also resold the house again!) Pertinent information is not conveyed from the customer rep during a phone conversation to disconnect service and pick up the leased tanks. Nearly 6 weeks and after numerous phone calls and the tanks still were not picked up. Shortly thereafter the tanks were picked up. Another month goes by and a $400 invoice was sent to us in the mail. Made numerous phone calls to have the bill explained and no one would return our calls or explain the charges. To add insult to injury, Amerigas started to add a monthly late fee to the charges.
We finally were able to talk to some that we thought was going to help. She transferred us to another Amerigas rep and we now have to repeat the previous complaints over again. With that being said, this person initiated a reference number. This rep said that she would help and she would give us a call back to get this case closed. That phone call never came. We called again and gave yet another rep the reference number. The total of the charges were finalized and we were told that we could pay with a credit card. Even after two attempts that option would not go through. We called back again to see how else we can pay the balance. We were told that a mailed in check would suffice.
We mailed a check in and we thought that the saga was over. Low and behold my wife gets an email that we still owe a balance. I presume the lies that we were told by previous reps don't hold water even when things are documented. To make matters worse, we now get a collection letter with a totally different amount. This all transpired after they had cashed the check that we sent in. Amerigas is the lowest of bottom feeders when it comes to propane gas companies. Our next step is filing a lawsuit. Btw, they have also closed the local office for all customer activities. They still do business out of that location but want nothing to do with their customers. HORRIBLE COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH.

We started service online and everything seemed great. I called them to get everything set up and sat on hold for nearly an hour. This should have been red flag 1. I paid the amount to start the service and set an appointment date for November 4 between 7 and noon. November 4 rolls around. No service. I call them. Sit in home for close to an hour. Get told that appointments can happen anytime that day and they'll there before 4. I call again at 4. Sit on hold for an hour before the system hangs up on me. Call back. Sit on hold another hour. Get told there's nothing they can do and the earliest next appointment is November 11. I demand to speak with a supervisor. They tell me supervisors have 1-2 days to call. I call again in the morning. They tell me that they might be out that day, they don't know.
November 6 comes. Supervisor calls me. Says the employee just didn't show up on the 4th, there's no reason for it. He says that he can have service out to install the tank on November 10. November 10 comes, supervisor calls and says tech is out sick, we'll be there tomorrow before 3. I tell him if there's no tank by 3, I'm cancelling service. November 11 the tech comes out and says it's too wet to drive the truck to where the tank needs to be. Says we will have to wait at least a week before they can install. I advise him I'll be cancelling. Mind you, he does not offer to help set another appointment or anything. I call to cancel. Sit on hold for a good long time. Get told that they can mail a check in 4-6 weeks. I request a supervisor. She puts me back on hold.
Another employee (not a supervisor) picks up. Tells me we can have a refund to our debit card within 3 days. Debit card refund hits 1 day later. (I also call another company, they arrange to have a tank installed on the 13th, they have no problem getting to it and getting it installed and we saved 200 bucks). Come today, I go to check the mail and there's a check from AmeriGas with our refund. I call them. They tell me I owe them the balance of the check. They refuse to cancel the check and say I can mail it back or cash it and pay the balance I "owe." Then they tell me thanks for being a great customer. I never received any service from them and they've been nothing but a headache. I'm cashing the check and paying the balance as I don't trust them to even say they got the check at this point. Horrible company, would never recommend to anyone.

Really bad company. Charged us for a full tank then 3 days later again charged us for another tank. It took almost six months of fighting them to get it cleared up. I think they put the gas in our neighbor's tank. Now our tank is reading 65% full but it ran empty. We were going to be charged $300 dollars just to get gas on an emergency basis. It's their tank. We pay 85 dollars a month to rent it. It's not their problem that the gauge is saying one thing but it's actually empty. They never take responsibility for any issue. I could not get them to refill it without paying 300 dollars just for them to come. So we have to wait a week or more for a refill. Horrible service.

Been with this company for years. A year later, here we are again with no updated records and have to continue with the same BS again. - Good luck ever trying to resolve a dispute or claim.
Absolutely one of the worst companies out there, steer clear of these crooks. We bought a new house that had tanks leased to Amerigas so we figured we'd give them a shot. We were double billed and spent month attempting to get things resolved. Unfortunately everything is outsourced to the lowest bidder call center who will not resolve anything, will promise you follow ups, email confirmations, escalations, basically the world but nothing will ever happen.
We attempted to have our second fill up and watched the driver go to our neighbors house, turn around and leave. We now are down to 25% capacity, have a $500.97 credit on our account which according to Amerigas takes 4 weeks to credit back via check only and that is "Industry Standards" when they are happy to only instantly take your money up front. Attempting to communicate will get you a phone call to India, agents pretending to not be able to hear you only to hang up, long waits on hold for simple tasks, and constantly being passed off. Do yourself a favor... Buy and support a local business, stay away from crooks like these guys.

They are letting me go for months without hot water. I paid them in advance for 26 years including for installation of heaters and maintenance of equipment, and they do not seem to care about past client history. When I became a senior I started using HEAP. HEAP closed early and AmeriGas would not refill my tank and bill me. I am mainly a Buddhist and do not use financing, and their credit check is against me religion and they said they could not bill me unless I passed a credit check. Then, a few days ago, I put in enough cash for a 100 gal minimum order, and they lied and said they processed it and gave me a delivery date window. I look online today and it is not processed so I have to call again, and the tank is down to 9 percent. I am a senior with chronic conditions. I called at 6pm on 10/10 (which is a Friday), they told me they have no idea why that date was promised, they don't deliver on Saturday.
It's 10/15, I received delivery last night but the driver said a gauge was broken. I just spent the last two hours on the phone with customer service, NO ONE listened to anything as I repeatedly just asked if we needed a line check or a new gauge. Before I discontinued service with them, I wanted to get a technician to tell me if my existing propane tank could be relocated. When I cancelled them they hit me with another round of fees and would not give credit for the propane in the tank. Review for Amerigas Propane (Odessa, FL): Bravo, Amerigas. Truly, you’ve redefined what it means to be unreliable. Ever since the management change, this Odessa branch has turned propane delivery into a comedy routine—except nobody’s laughing. Delivery window? 09/02–09/05. Reality? “Oops, we forgot.” Fantastic. Then came the heroic “expedited” order for 09/08–09/25. Expedited must mean “whenever we feel like it.” And now, on 09/10, they assure me the truck will arrive tomorrow. Tomorrow—their favorite word, because it never actually comes. Customer service? Picture a wall. Now imagine that wall lying to your face. That’s pretty much the experience. In 2024, I contacted Amerigas about purchasing our tank. After multiple unproductive conversations with customer service, I requested to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor directed me to 'review my contract,' emphasizing our commitment to the initial 3-year term. They mentioned that ending the contract early would incur a penalty fee and that selling us the tank was not an option. She informed us that the tanks have a lifespan of approximately 20 years. I inquired if they would replace our tank, given its age, and she replied that replacement would occur only if it were leaking.
• Despite the aging of our current tank, Amerigas has increased the annual lease charge by 12% over the past two years.
• Their propane gas prices for filling the tank are markedly higher than local market rates. When we attempt to negotiate, Amerigas remains firm, citing the contract that mandates all purchases and fillings must go through them.
• Amerigas frequently adds new fees to their services. According to the contract, "The fees and charges listed are not government-imposed, nor is any portion of them paid to any government agency. The company reserves the right to change its fees and charges at any time and without prior notice." Consequently, our financial burden has increased significantly over the past 4 years. Currently, there are three separate fees on top of the already inflated propane gas costs, with the contract detailing 20 "Fees and Charges" that Amerigas can impose at their discretion.
• Moreover, Amerigas recently entered our property without notice to install a tank monitor, a move permitted by the contract. Section 5 states that they have the right to access their equipment at any time. We, as lessees, are responsible for ensuring safe and unimpeded access, including keeping entry gates unlocked and clearing hazards such as ice, snow, water, and pets. From a customer service perspective, a simple call or email would have been appreciated, as we are held accountable for providing this access. If you're a renter, would you leave your door unlocked and kennel your pets just so the building owner can enter at any time?
We recently contacted Amerigas once more to request the purchase of our tank, but they denied our request again. Interestingly, we have heard that they have sold tanks to other homeowners in the past. According to Section 15 of our contract, "You and Company may mutually agree that Company will sell you the underground tank in lieu of physically removing the tank from (your) property."
• Considering terminating services with Amerigas is a costly decision. If your tank contains more than 5% propane gas at the time of contract termination, you will incur a fee. Therefore, you need to use up your propane gas and coordinate with another provider to time the transition. If you need a small amount of propane from Amerigas for coordination purposes, they will only deliver a minimum of 100 gallons and charge a will-call fee as well as a leak check charge, since the lessee drains the tank to less than 5%.
• Additionally, we are responsible for the excavation of the tank, furnishing fill, resurfacing, landscaping, and restoring our property. Amerigas will also bill us for a "tank pick-up fee." Based on our experience, there are likely additional fees we will be responsible for, as the 13-page Amerigas contract undoubtedly contains other loopholes that they will charge us for during the termination process.
We acknowledge that we followed the previous homeowner's decision to sign with Amerigas at the time of our home purchase. As newcomers to the propane gas supply, we were unaware of the available options. For those reading this, it is crucial to thoroughly review the Amerigas contract and fees when assuming home ownership. Additionally, compare local competitive prices and consider keeping your options open and flexible for purchasing propane gas. We’re very disappointed and frustrated with Amerigas, as I’m sure you will be too.

All the propane in the tank that I had already paid for 150 gallons is what they used so in 6 weeks I can expect a check for $6 dollars.
They expect their customers to pay up front and at time of service and they can't cut a check faster than 6 weeks. When I called to complain about all this their representative just laughed at me. I'm the paying customer so I am glad to take my business else where and saved a $1.25 a gallon on propane that was not a new customer price or discount. No fees. Just the normal taxes. So like they say do your home work. Buyer beware.

I have been the account holder for 50+years even before Amerigas existed and took over. Order propane EVERY year. Placed an order, I was in the account and all was good. I was to receive an email 24hrs prior to delivery. Didn't happen... Got an email they couldn't find the tank. NO kidding! You can't even access the property! Called customer service. They said I wasn't on the account, wanted to speak with my parents. It's in their name as a Trust. I said I was two days ago and my parents are dead and have been for 10 years. I had sent death certificates and they have been delivering to me and I'm the only one on the account. They said I'm not on it as an account holder and they will not help me.
I've paid all the bills, tank rental, etc for a decade. Why was I on the account 2 days prior? I said if they had done their job and sent the email in the first place we would not be having this conversation. I asked for a number for the local store and they would not supply it. So here I am needing propane and having to provide death certificates AGAIN. They do not care it's an outsourced call center. UPDATE: since the last post above I was told the account was now updated and an order was put in for delivery to our property. NOPE didn't happen so again customer service didn't do what they said. I wish there was a option to switch but small town doesn't provide any other options.

Have been with Amerigas for 5 years. Always thought the prices were high. Found that out for certain when I decided to switch. Went with Blue River Propane. Tank Rental (500 gallon)/install/400 gallon fill cost me $1123. Just to put 375 gal in from Amerigas was $1338 on the same day. I call Amerigas to cancel my account and pick up the tank to find out that I will still owe them $420 for tank removal which not only was done by the new company but I had them leave it in an easy access spot for pickup. Bullshit that I have to pay them to cancel my account, bullshit that I have to pay an exorbitant fee to remove the tank. And then the customer service girl tells me to consider them in the future if I want to change again. I would buy from the black market before I would ever consider these ripoff artists again. I must say that of any company I have dealt with for customer service, Amerigas is by far the worst. My father rented a tank from them in Florida and has been trying for 10 years to have the tank replaced. The tank was created in 1997 and they continue to recertify the tank just so they can fill it. The tank is completely rusted, the valve cover rusted completely off and laying on the ground. The fill meter is so fogged over it is impossible to read. My father and mother just recently passed and Amerigas will not resolve this tank issue. There is a strong gas prevalent smell at the tank. I turned the tank off and made a call to emergency leak through Amerigas.
They responded roughly 4 hours later. They were on site and capped off the gas line to the house and red tagged the tank, FINALLY! They were supposed to pick up the tank, refund the gas remaining and pick up the tank. A week later, no response and so I had to start all over again. I informed them that there is still a gas smell at the tank even though it has been turned off. Their only action is once again to send a tech onsite where nothing again will be done as the tech just called and informed me he is just taking care of the leak. The tank IS THE LEAK!!!!

I have been an Amerigas customer for over 20 years, but now I'm looking for another option. At first they were reasonable and affordable, but now in my opinion, they are robbing us! Our monthly bill has slowly crept up, over and over. Now my monthly bill has DOUBLED from where it was just a year ago, and propane prices have gone down overall. No one will give me a valid reason why they are raising prices. They're doing it because they can, and no one is holding them accountable. At the rate they're increasing, I will pay about $5000.00 this year for my propane!!! That is ridiculous!!! All I get when contacting customer service is an empty promise to "evaluate" the billing. If you're new to propane, take this advise. Buy your own propane tank(s). Fill them up once a year in summer when propane is at its lowest price then you won't have to deal with this price-gouging company.

As the result of not getting gas during the cold months in GA, I chose to end of my service with them. Called amerigas 4 to 5 times to cancel my service and for them to remove their tank from my backyard. Amerigas didn't send anyone nor did they return my calls. I had to get another gas company service, all the while the tank sat in my backyard for about 2 months.
As it sat in my yard I started to smell gas over a period of time. I had to call in a special request to Amerigas to have their tank removed. As a result they charged me 397.82 and continue to bill me late charges (36.00) for the tank they finally removed after months request from me and the fact that they didn't refill my tank for months before I had to find another gas company with better service and customer support. I do not recommend Amerigas because they have the worse service and customer support that I've experienced with any gas company in GA. They are billing me for their lack of service and unwilling to make up for their shortcomings as a business.

I can't even describe the headache you will get dealing with this company. I have been a customer for over 20 years and can't take it anymore. If you try and contact customer service you will get someone in another country that doesn't understand English. They will add bogus miscellaneous charges, then late charges when you dispute and it just goes on and on. No one is on the same page and they are totally unorganized. The first 18 years of service was actually ok. I'm not sure what they changed in the past 5 years to make the company go downhill. It's a shame because the installers and technicians are pretty informative and decent to work with. They did nothing to save a 20 plus year customer and I gave them multiple chances. If you don't mind being pissed off and completely frustrated choose Amerigas for your propane needs.

Choosing AmeriGas for propane service has been one of the worst decisions I’ve made. I signed a contract expecting a straightforward tank swap, which I clearly communicated to the sales representatives. Despite this, the technician who was supposed to deliver the tanks called to say a site survey was required, completely unnecessary given that this was a simple replacement. When I contacted the office for an update, I was told it would be taken care of. Hours passed without any follow-up. I called again, my third time, and was told the technician would call me directly. He finally called at 3:30 PM to say he was tied up on another job and couldn’t make it. Worse, I was told I’d now need to reschedule and wait another week.
After five calls, it's clear AmeriGas has no regard for customer experience. There seems to be zero coordination between the sales team and the technicians regarding what the customer actually purchased. To add insult to injury, I’m now being told I’ll have to pay over $150 plus tax to cancel a contract, even though not a single service has been performed. If you're located in the Ringwood area or nearby counties like Passaic, Bergen, or Essex, I strongly urge you to think twice before doing business with AmeriGas. Based on my experience, they seem more interested in collecting fees than delivering reliable service.

I am filing a complaint with the Michigan Attorney General against this company. They no longer give you access to a local office. You can only call their phone center in Kenya, which is numerous given they are named, Amerigas. They did not autofill my tank in the dead of winter. Thankfully, my daughter checks our cottage and saw that the heat was off due to no propane. I immediately called and was told they could not fill it for at least a week. I had to pay a huge amount of money to get heaters in my home to keep the pipes from freezing. I called another company and they brought a tank out the next day.
I called Amerigas to have the tank picked up and was told there would be no fees given their error. In the meantime, while the tank sat on my property, they charged me a rental fee. I called again to Kenya and was promised it would be picked up, and no fees assessed. The tank was not picked up until May. At that time, they sent out another bill, charging me a termination of contract fee, a technician fee and a pick up fee, costing a whopping $652.54!
I have called so many times on this, it’s utterly ridiculous. I have been told there are no records of my calls and that the fees are legit. I am in the process of filing with the Attorney General of Michigan, who has already been involved in numerous lawsuits against this company that they won. I called their resolution department and they only removed the technician fee. Unbelievable that they would not autofill my tank, cause me to have to spend thousands of dollars to keep my pipes from freezing, promise me repeatedly that the charges would be dropped and still claim I owe a tank removal fee and early termination fee. Do not use this company. You can look up the lawsuits online.

I was never informed there would be any charges and after several calls, they would not take the site survey cost off even though nothing was done nor reported. I was offered a $25 discount. I asked about cancelling my service as a result of this bad customer service and I was informed that would cost me about $420 (dispatch fee and $299 tank removal fee). They just don't care.
Their customer service department (wherever it is) is lacking people who can speak English and those people don't understand that continually saying "I hope you are having a wonderful day" while being asked about wrong charges, don't help the situation.
