First time renting a car through the app and was skeptical but I tried it. It was great, easy, and reliable. The first car owner actually canceled on me but he did notify in time, then I received back up car options and was on my way to renting the car I needed.

I have been a Turo host since August 2017, and this has been the first time I have been a guest with Turo, and definitely it is a much better experience than using regular rent-a-cars, which I did before being in Turo. Dealing with the owners of the vehicles gives assurance that the car is being taken care of. The App is so fast, easy to use and straightforward. Also, there is no wasted time in long lines and signing of contracts. Definitely, the way of the future in car rentals is right here with Turo. I really appreciate its very existence!

I tried to book a car for the next day, but their mobile verification process didn't work, and kept on sending "null" as the code. I chatted with support for over 30 min with no luck. All they did was tell me to wait and try later. I tried a few more times throughout the day with no luck. And then the car I wanted was gone. Pretty terrible first experience, and pretty accurate to what the bad reviews online are saying about the company. Good when things go well, bad when things go wrong. Will never use again.

Overall I'm satisfied with the experience. The car I rented was great as well as the price. However, the part of the rental that I was not satisfied with was the customer service. It took me two weeks to set up my account, and I could not get anyone to answer my questions. I got the same response in an email that looked like it was copied and pasted from the previous. Even though I sent supporting documents that were requested, it still took two weeks to set up the account.

Rented a car with Turo that was excellent, and the response of the owner fair, but the communication with Turo is a complete mess, the software is in diapers, need a Lot of work. I needed to change the return of the car for a personal emergency and was not approved By Turo. Even the owner approved it, and requested at least 24 hours in advance. If you want to do yourself a favor and need rent Car, use a trustful and serious company who you can at least communicate with.

The Vendor (“Turo Inc.”) is either grossly negligent, or routinely provides fraudulent representation of the services provided when an issue arises. I had used Turo several times in the past and had no issues – and enjoyed using the service as it was convenient and cost effective. Unfortunately, this last summer, I booked a trip with an individual named Hazel to use her Mercedes from 8/15 – 8/19 and the host was nowhere to be found when I arrived in Burlington, VT. Specifically, the number listed was a non-working number. Myself and a guest had taken an Uber to a strip mall to get the vehicle, and were left stranded with no transportation. I called the Turo support number, and was issued a $50 travel credit and supposedly a reversal of the charges.
My guest and I had to Uber back to the Burlington airport in order to get a rental car from Budget for a much higher price. Things then took a turn for the worse – Turo never credited back the charges, suspended my account, and made fraudulent claims to my bank that the charge was proper. These folks are either degenerates or incompetent. Customer service would not even look into the issue – all customers be warned. I decided to just delete my account rather than file a claim against the company because honestly a few hundred bucks isn’t worth it – but be careful as this will eventually happen to you if you use the service often enough. Consumers Beware: IF THE HOST NO-SHOWS, YOU WILL BE CHARGED REGARDLESS AND TREATED WITH AS A CRIMINAL.

The fact that you don't have to pay a deposit for renting, and you can communicate in the app with the owner of the car in case you have a problem or would like to extend was very convenient. I would recommend to all my friends and family.

The selection of available cars made the selection difficult, but the ability to something interesting, versus a mundane rental car for the same price was great. The car was where it was supposed to be and exceptionally clean. It drove beautifully... And being a recent Camaro, was fun to drive, even in LA traffic. I had a couple issues with the phone unlock... It turns out that sometimes, when you return to the locked car, the application screen shows the unlock button, but it is not Green and won't unlock the car. I found I had to back up a screen, and return to trip in progress to get the unlock button to go green and allow the car to unlock.
Similarly, when trying to check out, to see the fuel gauge for the required picture, the ignition was locked and I had to back out of the checkout process to be able to turn on the ignition and activate the fuel gauge. These aren't issues with the car, but you may want to give future renters a heads up (I even called for assistance, but the agent did not know how to solve the problem... After almost 10 minutes I came up with the solution I described above, him up from on-hold and was on my way... Your agents need to have this solution in their trouble shooting database also). All in all, it was a wonderful rental experience.

I had a great experience renting a car using Turo. The process was easy and simple. The car owner himself was great to work with, he responded quickly to my questions, delivered the car in great conditions and clean and he was very helpful teaching me how to use the app (my first time). It was also very useful the ability to extend my rental as I needed to keep it for longer than expected. And again, the car owner was very flexible and responsive about it.
I will use this app again and recommend it! I wish you (Turo) would have some way to flag good car owners from bad ones. I choose who to rent from based on ratings and feedbacks. Perhaps to add the stars rating (for the owner) to the car images on the search page would help to make it a faster process while choosing a car. Also to be added to the search results the price for delivery right upfront if that filter is on. Another good thing about your service is to be able to get insurance and to choose which cover you want to easily and quickly. These are my only suggestions! I love the service and I will use it again for sure!

Turo proceeded to charge me $1000 to repaint an area less than 1/2 the size of a dime. Two months later Turo added a supplemental damage in the amount of $500. I decided to use Turo over a rental car company because it should have been a much cheaper alternative. While the base price of my trip was $78 before the "trip fee" and much more favorable than a rental car, I was later SLAMMED with an additional $83.15 change for 27 extra miles. TWENTY SEVEN. 27 extra miles cost more than the entire trip. That is ridiculous. I went on vacation to California and began researching what to rent as soon as I got off the plane. I found the car I wanted to rent and began the process of checkout. I filled out everything necessary. Last step of taking a picture of my licence failed multiple times for whatever reason. Called the support line, they can't help so I was told to email support first and should get a response right away. Such was the case, and they told me to email a picture with drivers licence next to my face along with a picture of my credit card. No response even for the rest of the day nor earlier the next.
At that point I was just ticked off about the whole thing and emailed back late morning asking why no response. Of course I don't get a straight answer, but instead an email that says they needed the same info they had requested in the first email. Obviously just a stupid computer generated response. I wanted to save a little money and so rented from Turo for a family vacation. It has been a disaster. The owner of the car agreed to let me return it to a different location than the airport. However, he then did not respond to multiple texts, calls, or emails over the days leading up to the return date. Finally, I was able to reach him the night before the car was set to be returned but this created undue stress for the last half of our vacation. I had a minor fender bender where a small amount of paint came off the bumper. I let the owner know immediately, and he agreed to let me pay him cash for the damage. Without explanation he changed his mind and decided to have Turo handle the claim. The problem with this is that Turo charges a flat $150 administrative fee despite the minimal damage.
The owner was trying to bill me for tolls he accumulated driving the car the day before I picked it up. I got emails months after the rental telling me that I needed to pay these tolls or provide proof that I did not accumulate them. This wasted more of my time and was frustrating because the burden of proof was on me as the customer and not the owner. Turo was a pain to deal with.
The worst part of all this is that Turo will not let me review the owner on their site. They give you 7 days after return of the rental car to post the review. Despite many of my problems happening after returning the car, they have steadfastly refused to let me post any review about the owner. They seem to have little interest in supporting the customer. It is impossible to get anyone on the phone that has any ability to do anything except read you a policy. I will NEVER rent from them again and encourage all of my friends to avoid Turo like the plague. If everything goes smoothly you might save a little money, but if there are any issues (which is a reasonable chance with travel), you are much better off with a standard rental company than Turo.

Lack of price transparency. I ended up paying 11% more than expected due to unexpected charges such as car cleaning fee. The idea is good but it requires more training to owners about the process of letting their "babies" go rented. It is like a AirBNB owner changing the terms of the lease while you are at the appt.

I have never written a review before on anything, but because of this terrible experience, here I go! I only had the car for about 36 hours. When they picked me up from the airport, I right away heard that the brakes on the car were squeaky and the car unsafe. Then my bill was supposed to be $35 and was increased to $93 because I asked to be picked up an hour early when my flight changed. What in the world?!? That's a dollar a minute!!
I complained and said I will never use them again, and all they did was offer me another credit. Why would I need a credit so that I can be killed in an unsafe car and way higher than it was supposed to cost purchase?? Plus when I asked the owner of the car about the charges, all he ever said was that he never dealt with money and he didn't know why I was being charged more. I messaged customer service while I had the car and never heard back from them. I will never use Turo again! Do yourself a favor and use someone reputable, not sketch like this outfit.

I've had a great experience with Turo up until this point, but I'm disappointed with their customer service department. After our last trip, I discovered a $25 "extension fee". My host said Turo had added it, so I contacted the company and was told a manager would email me and issue a credit, but I've received no response. I did extend my trip by one hour, but my host approved it, there was no notice of a fee, and I was still within my 5-day rental window. I think it's an unfair business practice to tack on fees without notice and provide no real means for dispute resolution.

I rented my car out on Turo last weekend and could not be more disappointed with the claim resolution process. I have a brand new $40,000 SUV in great condition, so I was sure to reiterate Turo’s policy in my ad: NO SMOKING and NO PETS. Still, my renters borrowed my car for the weekend and completely trashed it! There was ash and dog hair all over the car, dog claw prints that tore at the seams of the leather, food crumbs ground into the seats, and a foul lingering odor of smoke and pet dander.
I was horrified and immediately snapped photos of the damage and contacted Turo. Three days go by and not a single phone call from Turo. I submitted quotes I received to repair the damage that totaled to $1,300+. Turo finally contacted me today and my heart sank when they offered me a $250 settlement, citing Turo policy for pet damage doesn’t cover cost over $250... I lent my car out to help make ends meet and instead I’m out of pocket over a thousand dollars. I’m currently writing this while taking the train/Uber to work while the damage is fixed. Oh yeah, and all of this is while paying for Turo’s highest level “premium insurance”. A lot of insurance that bought me. Unbelievable.

I have had two terrible experience with Turo so I want to warn others not to use their services. The first they failed to inform me they kicked the owner of the car I was renting off their app. I called the owner the day before my trip because I had not heard anything and THEY informed me. Turo offered me $25 and a car impossible to get to as a solution. I finally decided to give them another chance a few months later. I was 24 minutes late for dropping off my car. This 24 minutes was approved by the owner. Turo charged me an entire day as a late fee. For "inconveniencing the owner." The owner tried emailing them asking them to drop the charge. This was not an inconvenience to the owner. It was a way for Turo to make extra money. They do not care about their renters or drivers. I recommend using Sixt - a new company coming over from Europe who will hopefully put Turo out of business or Zipcar.

Never use this rental company. They have a flawed rental system that does not require renters to confirm availability of vehicles. Renter canceled at the last minute after the agreed upon pickup time. Renter said he hasn't had the vehicle for 6 months, but forgot to remove the car from the site. It should have never been listed on the website or rented to me. Turo takes your money without confirming with the renter that the car is 'actually' available. I was left in a very vulnerable situation and had to spend hundreds of dollars on an Uber to get to and from the pickup site and car rental place.
My trip was ruined, hours were lost, and hundreds of dollars wasted. To make matters worse, this was the second car I tried to rent that canceled on me within 24 hours of the start of the trip. Called Turo for customer service. While they reimbursed me for the car rental, there was no compensation for the lost time, wasted weekend, and the hundreds of dollars I had to waste to get out of a very vulnerable situation. Very disappointed and will never use again.

This review mostly apply for car owners. Especially the ones who owns premium and brand new cars. Please pay attention: there is no value for you to list your brand new car. If you are thinking to extra source of income which definitely is not reliable, go and list a 2-3 years old car. A rude and aggressive guy rent my car. It was my first experience. I had washed my car (2018 - brand new SUV), inside and outside. As a part of process I took some photos for documentation. When The guy returned the car it was just like piece of **. Moreover he passed daily 200km permitted. When I told the guy I will ask for reimbursement, he said, "It's exactly like when I picked it up." "OMG!" I said. He also charged me I am abusing and called me con artist. I was 100% sure I am right cause even if you close your eyes you can at least smell the sense of cleanness.
All of sudden I received a message from customer support which said, "The dispute is closed in favor of guest." I surprised and email them, explain and asked how did you find out this matter? He told me a funny answer. "We just received the photo when the car has returned. You needed to provide more photo from when you handled the keys." I said, "You haven’t seen the prior check-in photos or haven’t wanted to see?" This is the screenshot from my Turo app which showing prior check-in and after car returned. This time he said, "No you provide only 2-3 photos and it's a little dirt because of rain. Next time provide more photos from the inside as well."
So Right after I saw this level of judgment, I snoozed my listing in Turo. I think there is no value for me to list brand new cars. Much better if you have a mid size or economy class with 2-3 years age at least. Their customer support is also biased on guests' favour. Do not waste your time and never list a brand new car there. You’d be disappointed.

I selected my car and completed the checkout only to receive a message that I couldn't book. I call customer service and the only assistance they could provide was to tell me I had to contact the verification specialists via chat or e-mail. I started trying to chat with verification around 9 am (since the rental was time sensitive) and after 4 failed attempts and finally switching to my cell phone, the chat finally worked and didn't give me any more connection errors. Now I find out in the chat that my account has been flagged as "risky" and they want a credit report from TransUnion and about 8 other documents containing EXTREMELY sensitive information.
When I questioned the associate as to why this information was not relayed to me when I originally established my account on Nov 12 this was her response. "Since our account setup is through an automated system, it may not have registered this". So wait...you want me to send you a copy of my driver's license and a copy of my paycheck through an AUTOMATED SYSTEM... NO THANKS! That doesn't sound secure to me at all. NOT TO MENTION... on their website they state that "in most cases, driver eligibility check takes seconds, so you will be ready to hit the road in a few short minutes..." - IF THAT ISN'T FALSE ADVERTISING, THEN I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS. All I do know is I will NOT BE USING TURO, I WILL make sure that every guest I serve at the restaurant I work will hear about this and I will be deleting my account as soon as this is posted.

The way the app is designed allows room for it to be extremely misleading regarding how many miles are allowed "per day" opposed to the trips total miles allowed. As a result, I a first time user, had to pay $200+ in mileage fees because what I understood to be 400 miles/day as illustrated during my search to book a rental was in fact only 400 miles total. Trust for a first time user that's very unfortunate. Especially when my conversation with the host AND customer service rep left me feeling unvalued.
To hear the Turo customer service representative explain to me that Turo has had numerous complaints of the same issue is disturbing. How can one know there is such an issue but continue to operate without correcting it and/or making things very transparent? At the end of the day this situation really affected my perception of Turo. There were no concessions made on the fees I'm obligated to pay and in my opinion another example of big business not truly caring about those that make it thrive...the consumer. Again I can't express enough my disappointment in the situation.

$900 for one night rental! The renting process is sketchy. The renter called and canceled the trip 1 hour before and then invited me to rent the vehicle later on. He told me that there was an accident with the previous user. I was desperate and had to use this damaged vehicle. The claims process is even worse. I agreed to pay $150 for a rental of an off road vehicle only to find out after the rental is done that there is NO OFF ROADING allowed. This failed communication ruined my trip, renter kept this information from me even though I inquired about off road travel.
After returning the vehicle they charged me an additional $300 for mileage. Because I couldn’t take the vehicle off road I had to travel around the mountain and this is why my mileage was increased. They failed to inform of the ban on off road travel me and are now charging me for the mileage I was forced to use in order to reach my destination. Afterwards, I was charged an additional $451 for damages done to the bumper. I finally received the photos of the damage and it turns out that Turo has charged me for some dirt that is on the bumper. This is the biggest fraud and scam of this entire process. I hope they get sued and investigated. After some complaining, they reduced my charge by $150. Still leaving me responsible for $600 after the initial $150. This becomes a $750 charge for one night with a broken vehicle!

My host was with me live on phonecall and waited to receive the request send by me. After I send it, it got canceled. At First the live support told me my host did not accept it. What? Was not true.
Later they acknowledged that it got canceled by their system because I send out the request one minute before the return time. They told me in order to get the discount they can connect the old and the new reservation. So I did order another 2 days to plan to extend from there the fully 12 days. After customer support connected both trips it was 12 pm by the time, I got a bill of 80 USD!!! For LATE return?!? That bill got lucky removed. But now I can’t get the 15% discount as agreed it would work. Wasted 3.5 hours... Horrible customer support. They do not know what they doing! Great idea... But to get to Airbnb level they need work on their customer support and not act as a robot??? Oh and they was unwilling to give any discount on their site as I am not a new customer. I was misled to believe I was renting a solid running vehicle. I made the reservation well in advance.
As I was heading to the airport I was notified that the windshield wipers were "glitchy." Unfortunately, that equated to the all-out failure of the wipers in heavy rain on the highway. There is no phone number on the website so through sprawled out emails they offered a $50 credit after I informed them that I was not to be using their services again. Lame. My husband and I rented a car from Turo for our wedding, what a mistake. From the beginning we were asked to meet with the owner a little earlier since he had a call to be on. He pulls up and the car is filthy and tells us “sorry I didn’t have time”... He asked us to be early. We did not rush him. He then asks if we want to use the trunk, in a convertible. Wouldn’t you assume we’d probably want to have access to the truck? So he then pulls out a car seat, skateboard, and ALL other beach gear you could think of. Had we not said anything, this all would have been left in there? How inconvenient for those renting from you.
We had an issue with the car and somehow the leather on the seat was ripped when returned. We weren’t sure how it happened but took responsibility and followed the procedures for the claim. Here’s where it starts. We were emailed by a woman named Cynthia in claims that a $500 initial fee would be taken out of our account in 24 hours, this is on October 26th... Still waiting for that to happen. She then says that she thinks the damage won’t even cost that so we should have less than that taken from our account... That hasn’t happened. Being that we are younger and just got married budgeting is tight and expecting $500 to be deducted from our account is stressful and waiting nearly a month to see when it will happen is even more stressful.
I contacted Cynthia asking what is happening considering everything we were told HADNT happened still (November 8th). No response from Cynthia but now a new person Karely explaining that we will no longer be charged but our insurance will be. Interesting, considering I was told it would be deducted from my personal account WEEKS ago.
Upon seeing this email this morning I attempted to call a human being, what do you know you can’t find a phone number on their website to save your life. Go through the emails same thing no phone number. Go to Google and finally, but when you call the customer service operator can’t help you and want to connect you to someone else. I was connected to claims twice this morning. They aren’t even open, we weren’t told that. Then we call again and they want to connect me to someone that doesn’t work in that department because “MAYBE they could TRY to help”. So I was connected and they answered, to immediately hang up.
I am a store manager for a larger corporation and understand customer service, if I treated someone this way they would surely complain so here I am. I don’t understand how a company that has been open for 9 years can still be so unaware of how to take care of their customers. We weren’t passing off the damage, we owned that and weren’t scared away from Turo from that. However now I will warn everyone I know to go through anyone else before using this service. Worst customer service experience I have been through.

While driving my Turo, I was rear-ended on the highway. I was going 60 mph (the speed limit) in the right lane at the time I was hit. No other cars were around us, but the driver said he “saw me but could not slow down in time.” Luckily we both walked away mostly unscathed after whipping both cars around the cement wall and guardrail. The other driver was charged with (1) Following too closely and (2) Failing to present evidence of insurance. I was allowed to drive away from the scene of the accident because I was in no way at fault.
That’s where the issues with Turo began. Turo conveniently waives all uninsured motorist coverage in all states that don’t legally require it, without disclosing which states those are. 32 of the 51 states/DC allow for drivers to waive this coverage. Unfortunately, Colorado (where I was driving) is one of these states. The estimated damages to the car were around $3,000. Because I opted for the premium insurance, I am being held liable for the $500 deductible; however, if I had selected the standard insurance package, I would be liable for the full $3,000.
Here’s the real kicker. TURO IS ONLY COVERING 20% OF THE ACTUAL CLAIM AS SUBMITTED BY THE OWNER OF THE CAR. Their company policy is that they only cover 20% of all claims that total to under $3,750. So, in the end, I was blindsided at 65+ MPH, have to pay $500 + medical visit + missed flight + alternate means of getting to the airport, and the owner of the car has to pay for 80% of the repairs. So my deductible plus the cost of my rental will cover the cost they have to pay to the owner. Had I bought the standard insurance and had to pay $3000, they would still only pay the owner 20% and pocket the other $2400.

I was initially really excited about Turo as they had a car available during a peak period when many of the rental car companies in our area did not. It was also a last-minute booking (about 10 hours ahead of pick-up time), so I was grateful. Things went awry as soon as I went to pick up the car. The owner had decided to leave the car in the driveway with a note. The car was filthy, both inside and out. The gas tank was empty. The owner apologized they didn't have a chance to wash before I picked up.
As soon as I started to drive the car, I discovered that several major functions were not working, including rear lights, one of the turn signals, etc. I feel lucky I was not pulled-over as these are violations. I pinged the owner to let her know about the problems and she was totally unapologetic. I needed the car as the rental car companies didn't have anything, so I was stuck driving this for several days. I felt super unsafe. I ended up returning the car 1.5 hours late due to traffic. I pinged the owner in advance to let her know.
After all the awful car troubles, she still chose to charge me for the extra 1.5 hours. I complained to Turo and I can't remember a time when I've experienced worse customer service. We went back and forth many times without Turo even so much as apologizing for my experience with the car, which did not meet basic vehicle safety requirements. I carefully reviewed Turo's policies and saw that they had violated their own policies in terms of inspecting vehicles older than a certain number of years.
After exposing this, they first removed this vehicle from their inventory, and then after much demanding, they refunded me a tiny portion of the rental, which they indicated was the percentage they kept from the deal, since the owner apparently keeps most. Turo obviously has a huge way to go in terms of ensuring vehicles are of adequate quality, and in terms of customer service. My experience was bad enough that unfortunately I won't be giving Turo a second chance.

When she came to pick up the car, I was supposed to check her driver's license and found she did not have one - she can't drive (she brought a friend to drive the car). I phoned Turo to find out what to do and we were disconnected (this happens a lot when talking to Turo support). I photographed both their IDs and gave them the car. Turo emailed (not called) me, telling me not to give her the car - too late. How did she rent two cars prior or even get on the platform if you need a driver's license and she doesn't have one?
When she returned the car, I entered the mileage into my phone and it said she had driven 27,000 miles in one day. I asked Turo how to correct this and they said you can't. I later found out the driver had gone through a red light camera and I got a ticket. I did not want to pay the ticket because my insurance would go up. I asked the help line what to do, they said they would email me an Affidavit of Liability Transfer to sign but then never did. Other than advertising your car the company is pretty much worthless. Turo did not even listen to what I had to say and said that there isn't anything that I can do about it. And top of that Turo is saying that the added insurance that I purchased is not applicable in my situation. Next thing they said was they will cover only one wheel under damage. After so many emails, screenshots of prior and post trip pics They agreed to cover my bumper and other wheel. I was then asked for more proof including a copy of one of my utility bills. Huh?!! They asked for almost 6 types of ID verification for me asking that 3 letters in my name be corrected. Not to mention, my driver's license that I sent them to originally verify my identity says the EXACT same thing that I was requesting them to correct my name in my profile to read. The profile name was mistakenly misspelled. How about the real issue should have been why did they allow me to start a new profile with a different name than what was in my driver's license ID? The customer service is a waste of time because they do nothing and agree with whatever the host say. BEWARE BEFORE YOU RENT WITH THIS COMPANY.

We just returned home from a family vacation in the Chicago to Northwoods Wisconsin area and were very happy to work with Eric through Turo in Chicago. From the timeliness of pick up to the smooth return, the trip was exceptional. I would say, based on the other negative reviews, the experience has much to do with the owner/renter relationship. The savings alone will keep us coming back to Turo for our car rentals.

Turo has THE worst customer service. We had an issue with our reservation and account so chatted with support. Waited an hour to get help. 20 minutes in they said to try texting for faster support. I didn't get a response to my text for 3 hours. Then after a full on interrogation into my life, they asked for pictures of my ID, of my credit card, of a utility bill, pay stub and travel documents. The agents were rude and condescending. And in the end? They denied my membership but couldn't tell me why. What a joke. Probably an identity theft ring. Stay away.

I signed up with Turo, booked a car and then was told I was not approved. The funds were already taken from my account and they said the refund would take 3-5 business days to return my funds on a vehicle I was unable to obtain. I would never recommend this service to anyone. I usually use Avis but wanted to give them a try. I will continue to use Avis as long as they are available where I am located.

I booked a ride with Turo yesterday 9/23. I lost my license but had a photo of the license that I lost and a CA ID. I arrived at the meetup site and the host would not let me begin the trip. He stated that if I obtained an interim license the next day he would allow me to begin the trip. I completely understood that request and complied. I submitted a copy of the interim license to him this morning 9/24. The host still refused to release the car. Turo refused to assist me on this matter. Turo refused to issue a refund. Turo refused to direct me to their legal department who I will have to find a way to contact on my own. Worst customer service ever. Completely irrational standpoint. An Interim license IS a valid license. Go to Hertz.

What a farce this company is! We wasted 5 hours with them and then they declined membership! I was trying to rent 3 cars and pay for all three ~ they verified me and my funds ~ it was a gift to my children while traveling in Hawaii. They wanted me holding the credit card, me holding my id and the same for my children (adults). My son actually was using his own credit card! They then wanted copy of utility bill, copy of paystub and a copy of travel itinerary! Remember ~ we are trusting them that someone will actually meet us with the car and they are all in Mexico or somewhere. I booked with Enterprise for just $50 more per car and unlimited mileage. This Turo is a zero in my book!

I booked a car in Turo and I paid $245 for 9 days. The owner of the car canceled the trip, and Turo charged me $210. They told me that paper license is not accepted even though it is valid in the state of Illinois. I got the paper license from DMV, but they didn't accept it. I sent the owner my previous driving license telling him that I applied for my new driving license, but he didn't accept it. The owner of the car canceled the trip several hours after I booked it. He could do that in the first hour so that I can get a full refund, but he didn't. Turo customer service phone number does NOT work. I want to share my bad experience with police to see if I can get my money back.

I will never ever recommend Turbo to anyone. Do not be fooled by low prices. I rented car 3 times and everything was going fine. One fine day after I booked a car for 107$, at last minute Turo told me that paper license won't be accepted (even though it is a perfectly valid legal document by state of California). They not only denied the trip they refused 107$ stating that I should have carried photo I'd license. I told them that it is perfectly fine with whatever policy but since they allowed 3 trips, it is their mistake but they refused to reimburse the money. Please be careful renting from this app. Enterprise or Budget rentals are always better and safe.

I signed up with Turo online to rent a car. All seemed to go well. I submitted all my personal and banking information, even took and submitted the necessary 'selfie'. Approved, I selected a car and even spoke to the owner of the vehicle about the meetup. Then, shortly thereafter, I receive notification that I was summarily rejected, my acceptance was rescinded with no explanation whatsoever. What's more, I was informed by text that I could appeal (grovel) by taking another selfie holding my driver's license and credit card and provide a bill in my name and other debasement. I feel humiliated. Although I appreciate cybersecurity and fraud prevention, treating (some?) customer prospects like criminals is not how business should be conducted. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone, ever.

I’ve now had 3 bad experiences in a row with their customer service which leads me to believe the company getting worse. You cannot get a support number without going online and filling out a form. Then you sit in hold for a while until someone from the Philippines answers. There used to be US based people that could help. Now I just get idiots who have no idea what they are doing. I tried having to call support now because they do such an poor job. I would consider looking for other options if you’re looking to rent out your car.

I signed up with this company, saw great deals for half the cost of rental companies and all seemed really awesome, even got a text from the car owner. They verified some info about me during the sign up and all checked out and was verified. I proceeded to rent the car, made payment, received a confirmation email stating my rental. Two days later I receive an email from Turo stating that I was declined membership for unknown reasons and I would be refunded in 3 to 5 days. I proceed to google the phone number which I called and was disconnected. I then used the chat option on their website and was told to reply to the email. I then replied to the email and received a response that I was denied membership and my account was closed due to reasons that they will not disclose due to the efficacy of the verification process, but if I wanted to appeal the decision then I can.
So I again asked the reasons why so that I may appeal, which they again replied that they reserve the right not to disclose the reason why. How do you appeal a decision without knowing why. Too much effort for me to save $100 dollars. I then read in the terms that they conduct credit checks, insurance score, criminal background check, personal reference check and I’m sure I read somewhere a DNA test. Of course I’m joking about the DNA. I don’t have to do all this at a traditional car rental company. Then more so not disclose the reasons why it would still encourage me to appeal. Nope not doing it!! Seems like a scam to get your info!!!

I had a very frustrating experience with Turo and wanted to let fellow drivers know why I strongly recommend against using Turo: If you drive a Turo car and the Turo host receives any erroneous toll violation, the host pays it right away with substantial administrative fees tacked in, even before letting you know and letting you contest the toll with EZ Pass. Turo then directly deducts the toll from drivers credit card on file, without letting the driver dispute the charge.
I got charged over thirty times what was rightfully due because of this: I carried my EZ Pass transponder throughout the journey and on one toll booth, the sensor failed to read my transponder. Note that this is not a rare occurrence. So be forewarned that you may get charged of hundreds and hundreds of dollars and will be given no option to contest the charges, even when you are not at fault. All Turo Customer Support team got back with was: "I completely understand where you are coming from, but my hands are tied based on the policies that you agreed to. All further responses will be read but not responded to."

Absolutely floored at the money grab attempt after turn in. Car was returned in better condition than received. Everything on turn-in checklist was followed exactly. For the owner of the vehicle to not expect the slightest amount of surface dust on floor mat after 500 miles in a dusty desert environment is beyond ludicrous. This is my first time using your service and will be my last. I have received the owner's pictures of the "vehicle damage" and am completely dissatisfied that you could assess a fee that was more than the original rental. I was skeptical from reading the online reviews of Turo and from my first and only experience I can definitely see why there is an overwhelming amount of dissatisfied users.

Turo declined my account due to my insurance score. When I contacted them and provide them with my TransUnion Score of 870 out of 950, they changed their tune and stated they needed to confirm my identity. This company seems like it has not internal guidelines or standards to follow. Based on my experience it seems like the employees make up the rules as they go. I understand the safety and security measures are there to protect both the owner and the renter. For this reason they should guidelines for employees to follow when approving or declining applications. My driving record is perfect. No accidents or tickets for the past 30 years.

The owner (rents a fleet of 14 luxury vehicles) of the vehicle I rented in Orlando, Florida recently took advantage of the fact that I inadvertently forgot to take photos of before and after readings of the odometer. He even texted me to see if I took a picture of the odometer to check before filing a fraudulent claim. He submitted a claim for over $600 to get reimbursed for excess mileage. He submitted a before and after picture of the odometer reading which clearly shows that he used a tool to change the odometer in the after picture since it didn’t have the second odometer reading below to show how many miles I actually traveled. I provided other evidence from my Life 360 app that proves that I clearly drove under the allotted 300 miles. Turo ruled in my favor and stated that the case was closed and did not charge me the fee.
The next day, I received a charge for over $600 on my credit card on file. The customer service representative stated that his supervisor overturned the ruling without my knowledge and charged my card without giving me another chance to refute the charges. Now they are saying that they will escalate the matter to a specialist which I have not heard from in several days. I have taken up the matter with American Express to file a dispute and have gotten my attorney involved to file a fraudulent claim by the owner and a fraudulent charge by the company. I am looking to file a class action lawsuit to hopefully prevent this company from allowing scam artists to do this to other unsuspecting individuals.
Don’t rent from this company. They give the owners the benefit of the doubt and who use these vehicles to scam you since it is very difficult for them to make any real money through the services that they are trying to provide. Good concept but very poorly executed and bad service all around. It is unfortunate that my first two experiences trying this out were very positive and had to experience this last one.
