    Tom, the host, was great. He kept in touch, and spotted the car where I needed to have it on a secure lot on the South ramp at the airport in HNL. The car performed as advertised and I was careful to return it on time, clean and full of gas. Tom called me later the same day and left voicemail which I saved on my voicemail to text app on my phone. Essentially, he thanked me for returning the car in good condition, on time and full of gas. He then hoped to serve my needs again in the future. But then, as sort of an afterthought, he asked me if I detected any strange smells in the car... Just curious, he said, not leveling any complaint. I told him that a bit of vaping, not smoking, had been done on one of my trips. Ah ah he said...saying he was sensitive to smoke. Of course it was NOT smoke, but electronically charged water vapor. No Tobacco, ash or other attributes of cigarettes.

    However, Tom then reported to Emilio the car reeked of smoke. Emilio then fined the near maximum fine listed in your agreement for smoking cleanup, plus an additional administrative fee for handling. Entrapment? You bet. Now Turo could make an extra $175 with no expense on a totally misguided interpretation of the no smoking rule they listed in detail on website. Am I shocked and disappointed? Yes. Will I ever use Turo again? No. I could be vindictive and post this ordeal on Facebook, but I am not that kind of person. I am a gullible victim of Turo advertising which hides a premeditated scheme capture fees by entrapment. Thanks for listening.

    Hosts Beware. Turo does not exist without the Hosts willing to rent their personal cars. Any good reviews Turo has are because the Hosts treat the renters well. Turo does nothing but take money from both parties and assumes ZERO responsibility for anything that goes wrong. As hosts we paid Turo for their insurance coverage as extra protection for our car. Even though I witnessed the renter drive my car over a curb and heard the loud scraping sound as he scraped the paint off the bottom of my bumper they REFUSED to pay for any damage because I could not take pictures of the BOTTOM of my car.

    They did the same thing to a friend who had a renter take a car on a 4-wheel drive road - the road was clearly stated as a place the car could not go & the friend had a GPS tracker so knew when and where they went during the rental. The renter destroyed brand new brakes. Our friend had proof the brakes had just been replaced. Because the damage could not be proven with a "photo" Turo denied their claim. I encourage Hosts to take their car away from Turo and renters to find other options. Turo does not deserve our money!

    Rented a Tesla for 2 days. My flight was early on the second day so I said I would be dropping off early even though there would be no reduction in the rental cost. My flight got changed to later so I notified the owner that I would need the car for the full two days that I had already paid for. Owner ignored my request. Turo then charged me a ridiculously exorbitant late fee even though I returned the car in LESS than 48 hours on a two day rental, Turo citing the late return policy. I tried to explain that a "Late" fee is supposed to cover either real or potential financial loss to the company, not just simply to punish the customer. No loss occurred since I was charged for a full two day rental and I returned the car within that 48 hour period.

    Just to be clear, I only said I was returning the car early to allow Turo to plan for my return, not to save any money. The Turo lot is manned 24/7 so it's not like they sent somebody there early just for me. Stupid illogical policy with stupid illogical people enforcing it!!! In addition the Tesla was in very poor condition. TPMS light on, every rim had severe curb rash, front passenger side lower bumper had been hit hard, passenger door had 8 inch dent, multiple other half dollar sized dents all over, interior not vacuumed, auto pilot kept shutting off even though I was operating it correctly.

    Terrible experience. Do not use this company. They use exorbitant and unfair fees on the front end and back end. My car arrived over 1 hr late and I wasn’t compensated, which was fine. However when I communicated with the owner I was going to be 30 mins later with drop off well in advance, I was charged an extra $100 to my credit card without my knowledge or communicated by the owner. I would never use Turo again!

    This is the worst company ever!! They make you overpay them so they can screw over the renter and the rentee. Turo is a joke of a company. DO NOT RENT CARS FROM HERE!! DO NOT USE THE INSURANCE.     This is kind of like the Airbnb for cars which may seem like a cool idea so I get where the admiration comes from. Unfortunately this company is nothing like them. In many other ways, you are left for dead. Imagine only having 10 mins to check into your car before the owner of the car calls you a "no show" and takes all the money that you paid for the rental and pockets it. This is what happened to me. I was left stranded at a pickup site only to find out the owner of the vehicle I rented from, canceled on me. THEY KEPT ALL MY MONEY. I didn't get to rent a car and they took my money. Customer service is awful. They don't care at all either. I strongly recommend that no one use this company.

    Rented a car for business trip in Houston in Jan 2019. I chose one with free terminal curbside delivery and pickup, but that one canceled about 3 days before my trip. So I had the hassle of finding another one or just going with regular rental. I found one that offered the same so I stuck with Turo. He met me at terminal fine, but immediately started saying he couldn’t meet me to pickup at terminal. After time spent with company getting that straightened out, he met me at my departure but was over 30 minutes late although we had been texting that morning!

    All this was a pain, and the car stalled out at times during frantic Houston traffic, but I gave him benefit of being human being and left a good review. THEN, I get a bill for fuel and cleaning charge! After several days of many emails I got them to realize I’d returned it with more fuel than I received it with. However, apparently the Turo rules are you just wash the car inside and out before return! The car was used by one person, myself, who didn’t eat or party in the car... But drive it in streets and highways of Houston and parked in hotel parking lot...

    So it got some dust on it. I was charged $30 fee for that! So I was supposed to find a car wash in North Houston before I returned the car to clean off road grime. So after all the headaches and time spent emailing and waiting at terminal plus cleaning fee no normal rental company would ever charge... It was definitely not worth it. I will return to the carefree, no drama, regular rental companies and end up paying the same once I don’t have to wait or email or find a car wash.

    After a renter caused damages to the interior of my vehicle, I contacted Turo to find out next steps for reimbursement. I was surprised to find out that their insurance policy does not cover interiors. Here is the official response I got from their agent, "Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, interior damage is not covered under the policy, per the Host Protection Plan." Then I asked if they reached out to the renter and they had not. So I did. And the renter acknowledges that they caused the damage, so it should have been an easy charge to the renter by Turo. But this is not their SOP, so they did nothing and left me to negotiate with the renter. So be aware that they will refuse to pay for interior damages by the renter and they will do nothing to help you get reimbursement from damages. Bad policy + lack is support = bad company.

    Car rental in Vegas! It was a very easy process of booking and getting the car. However I didn’t realize if everything isn’t perfect when you bring it back, you will be charged. I apparently brought it back just a “tiny bit” under a quarter tank which is what my renter had me start with so I got charged. Also I returned the car clean, very clean. I did not run it through a car wash because A- didn’t know of one in the nearby and B- didn’t think it needed one. I only drove on paved roads. It was $14.

    Also before you rent a car, take pictures before and even if the mileage before you start. I made the mistake of not doing that and I’m pretty sure I was wrongly charged for over mileage. I was told I went over by 47 miles which would have brought me to driving 200 miles in 6 hours. I only drove maybe 80-90 miles total. I only went to red rock (19 miles), drove the 13 mile loop, drove back (19 miles). Do I know there’s no way I drove almost 200 like I was charged with. Otherwise it was great.

    I rented my 2017 Tesla S on Turo last Thursday. Purchased the premier insurance that costs 35% of the total revenue. The guest hit a curb and did $550 in damage. You can't call TURO. Long waits on hold then the call drops. Can't find how to submit a claim on their website (other than pictures). They offer little help. In addition their valet service accepted my car back with a charge level so low I could not drive to the nearest charge station. Very little/poor communication. And they charged me to top off the charge. So if you are thinking about using TURO please think again.

    Charged me 50 dollars for being 5 mins late & I talked to Owner, said it was ok. And I didn’t check out on time because this was my first experience so didn’t know how to correctly.     Excellent communication helped me find the car with no problem. It was parked in an airport parking lot and the keys and parking ticket was in a lock box together with the money to pay the ticket on the way out of the lot. That made for a happy start.     I've had some great travel experiences with Turo. It's very convenient for security reasons most of the time, and also being able to select exactly what vehicle you want ahead of time. The prices are reasonable and the industry standard prices of a tiny compact car, are the same on Turo to rent a large SUV. I have recommended Turo to countless work associates, and family.

    However I've also had some negative experiences on the platform. In the winter 2018 I rented a vehicle that was not road legal, and turn signal out. I was in the midst of a important business trip, and was unable to switch out the car working 14 hour days, and the host Tereza did not offer to help me in any way. I could've been pulled over for the car issues and given multiple tickets at my expense, and had to roll down the winter in cold conditions to arm signal while wearing a business suit. I hold Turo responsible, if the car was inspected it never should've been approved to be rented on the platform.

    The host also had me picking up the vehicle in a ghetto dark parking lot with bums and weird characters loitering around, as a young female this was incredibly unsafe. She also had me drop off the car without any notice, abandoned in the dark questionable parking lot with the same characters milling about, with the doors unlocked and keys inside.     I reported this and Turo only offered me a $25 credit when I had rented the vehicle for an entire week (about $200). I inquired why they could not provide a partial refund, and Turo's rep Jovie refused to reply a 2nd time and stopped answering. I have had other minor questions and concerns, and each time the requests are answered they use cookie cutter responses, and the names seem foreign and they have poor English.

    Overall, I'm happy with the ingenuity of the website and the creative replacement to commercial rental companies, however the customer service department is lacking and I don't feel that they truly address customer needs, and are more interested that they give you a quick reply to make you go away and dismiss your issues without actually correcting the root problems.

    I rented a car well in advance, had a stellar rating on the app, never had a problem with a host until a recent trip to Dallas. The host misled me with a description and messaging that didn’t line up with what they provided and I felt unsafe taking their vehicle for fear that they would try to claim some sort of hoax in damage or any number of things. The host screamed at me and told me to tell Turo to cancel the reservation when I questioned them on them misleading me. I said okay and went to Hertz. I called Turo no less than 35 times, emailed them, left messages, tried to talk to someone willing to be of any service and their support staff told me a dozen times at least that my money was gone and they didn’t care that I was never able to get the car in a safe environment.

    I felt so horribly wronged with this experience but after so many contentious phone calls with Turo, I called American Express and told them their legal team needed to take over getting the money back. It took Amex all of 30 minutes to deduce that Turo was a terrible organization and that I should avoid using their service again. I got my money back of course and I filed a Better Business Bureau report where I found hundreds of other people had a similar experience. Moral of the story...do not use Turo. It’s a massive liability if a host is shady and Turo support will make the situation 100x worse. If you have a problem, don’t try to go to their support staff, just charge it back to your cc (the credit card companies employ smart, helpful people and they know a scam when they see it).

    Decided to rent from Turo because we wanted a Subaru for our Colorado trip and couldn't find one at any other rental company. Started out okay. Owner was nice, pick-up and drop-off were easy and pretty convenient. I feel like we were extra cautious because of Turo's policies, almost to the point of it being an inconvenience, and I'm not sure that it's worth the headache. I will continue renting from Budget or Enterprise just based on that alone, even if this next part had not happened. Day 2 into our trip, we are driving through the mountains and a Ford Raptor sped up in front of us and spit a rock at the windshield. Was a small crack and eventually spread about 5 inches across.

    Just to have an open line of communication, I sent the owner a picture and told her what happened. She said she would inform Turo. I thought that would be it and Turo would cover the damages since I purchased the basic insurance protection plan. 5 days after dropping the vehicle back off, I received an email from the claims department informing me that I owe $301.75 for the damages. "Since you bought the basic protection, your out-of-pocket cost is limited to $3,000 for the damage claim." I am beyond frustrated at this point. To the point where I want to cancel my credit card so they can't charge for damages. It's not like Turo was cheap. They get you with the additional hidden fees.

    We paid $50/day for a 2010 Subaru Forester that had a ton of miles on it, plus other fees that were hidden in the total cost. The mileage stipulation, which was 800 miles for the entire trip, was not even close to being used. We put 200 miles total on the car. Spent $15 cleaning it, which was such an inconvenience when you're trying to get to the airport on time. After doing research, I learned that Enterprise, Budget, Hertz & Avis rental would not charge someone for a cracked windshield if the renter purchased basic protection. I feel scammed and will obviously never recommend or use Turo again.

But, the hosts have the power to really gouge their renters; they tend to in large cities. I’m happy I’ve been able to use it for what it is, but the amount of fees tacked on to younger renters almost make this app useless unless you’re renting a tiny, cheap, car. There should be some sort of discount system for more responsible drivers, regardless of age. Maybe a Preferred Driver status? For people with no tickets or people who drive for a living.     The car was dirty even though I was required to clean it when I return. The low tire warning light was on when I picked the car. It went flat while traveling and had to have it fixed. The wiper blades were bad on the car. There is not enough to really tell you my thought but I will say both my daughters also rent Turo cars and had similar problems with the cars being dirty. The drivers should be required to maintain their cars and also fill out some basic checklist before renting to verify the car basic safety is in order and the car is clean.

    When people check into a hotel they expect that the room has been serviced and cleaned when they get their room. You don’t rent a hotel room and find that the room had not been cleaned from the precious guest. It should be the same for renting a car. Especially when you're told you will be charged a cleaning fee if you don’t bring it back clean. My daughter paid the $35 fee to not bring it back clean but the car was dirty when she picked it up. Also I should be reimbursed for having to fix the tire since it was already a problem when I picked up the car. So far I have not been reimbursed for it. Neither myself or my daughters plan on renting from Turo again.

    Our experience with Turo was poor and we don’t recommend them. It was bad at times and stressful at others. Our story is a long one, it felt even longer when we were experiencing it. For the quick and dirty, scroll down to the summary. We booked a Turo in October (over two months in advance of our trip). At 7am, one hour before scheduled pickup, our host was unresponsive. Turo “customer care” (I put it in quotes because of this experience) explained that they could not help us until a minute or two before the scheduled pick up.

    At 7:30am I called Turo again and got the same result. At 7:50am “Customer care” started a 15-minute countdown for the host to respond. He didn’t and around 8:06am, Turo cancelled the reservation, credited my Turo account with $340 and began finding a replacement vehicle for us. At this point, we recognized we were early and expected a reputable company to make it right by finding a replacement vehicle for the original cost. They still hadn’t wronged us. This is when we learned that they would not be covering the difference for our replacement vehicle. Which now, day of, would be around $600. We couldn’t believe our ears.

    In a twist of fate, our host responded around 8:44am. It seemed that all would be made right. We contacted “care” to reinstate the old reservation. It was approved and we saw the light at the end of the tunnel. Our host (now awake it seemed) directed us to the vehicle and we learned that it would not support our party of 4. It had a busted taillight, was leaking fluid beneath the vehicle, and only had 3 seats. Note that our order called for a vehicle with 6 seats. The vehicle had less than half a tank of gas. For our troubles, our host promised that we could return the vehicle with an empty tank. This was a nice gesture from him but not nice enough to give us an extra seat.

    We contacted “customer care” again for...care. We asked: “Help us understand how we can book a car with 6 seats, months in advance, receive a car with 3 seats, and be expected to cover the difference to get the vehicle we need.” This plea fell on deaf ears. They #1, would not cover the difference for a replacement vehicle and #2, were unwilling to help us find a replacement vehicle until we cancelled the current reservation. I know, you may be thinking, “this review is making this up.” I wish I were. The agents were willing to help us cover the $200+ difference, with a jaw dropping $35 credit.

    3 seats were better than no seats so we made two trips from the airport and borrowed a family member’s vehicle for the duration of our trip. We didn’t hear back from Turo for the next 4 days. We returned the vehicle with no problems. A week after completion I called “care” for a refund. They credited my credit card without a fight for $340. The only saving grace Turo did for our trip. It wasn’t worth the stress of not knowing if we’d have a car.

    In summary, the host had a lot to do with our poor experience. He was unresponsive and lied about the specs of his car. So don’t blame Turo right? Well, Turo had numerous opportunities to make us happy, lifelong customers by finding a replacement vehicle at the same cost. Instead, they’ve made lifelong anti-ambassadors of the brand. Note Turo’s policy of refunding us our cost so that they made no money on our reservation. This was preferable than covering an extra ~$240 to get us the car we needed and make us happy customers. Don’t use Turo.

    My family of 4 rented a 4 door Jeep for our transportation on Hawaii from Big Island Jeep Rental. Communication with Joe was easy and he replied promptly. The pick up and return of the Jeep was my favorite part! So convenient!! No shuttle to and from, it was just right there waiting for us front row. The Turo rental was pricier than say Alamo but you got a lot more for your money. In our case it was perfect because most rental places will not let you go to the summit of Mauna Kea but we could, that in itself saved us $1000 by not having to book a tour to get up there. Our Jeep was awesome, we chose the red lifted soft top “Ka Hae”. Loved it! It was in excellent condition, looked awesome, and was very fun.

    I would highly recommend getting a Jeep for exploring the island, a lot of the roads need extra clearance and I would highly recommend Big Island Jeep Rentals through Turo. I do wish that Turo could notify you somehow when you receive a message through the Turo app. You don’t know it’s there unless you go into the app and check for messages, otherwise it was very good.

    Our initial experience with Turo was fine until our car broke down and we had to get a new one. I spoke to at least 5 different agents who made the whole process absolutely miserable.     Original rental car terms were for 10 days with 1,125 miles allowed. Just before the end of the original term, TURO offered additional days to rent the same vehicle longer. Daily rate and all rental conditions was exactly the same no discounts offered. After returning the vehicle TURO is charging over $860.00 for extra miles driven. According to TURO, they did not allowed to drive the car any longer, they only allowed to keep it for longer. In other words, for the same rental rate and same rental terms, they did not add miles allowances at all for the additional 10 days. Of course, no warning was given, I had a reason to believe that the rental extension for the same price it comes with the same mileage allowance. Now I’m taking them to the court and I will reach out to file a class action lawsuit on behalf of all scammed customer like myself.

    I rented Tesla and Mercedes GLS450 via Turo in San Francisco back in 2018 and recommended to my wife. However, my wife was decline to rent because she is not “eligible” and asked her to provide driving records from DMV. She has tier 1 credit score, used AMEX platinum card and her driving record is spotless... Except she had handicap status due to her Multiple Sclerosis. We asked why she is not eligible, Turo customer support told us differ reasons every time we chat or spoke. Then asked to take a picture with driver’s license and send. Chatted and spoke with 9 customer support and fail to rent a car and wasted whole 2 days and the trip has been canceled.

    All the stressful exchanges and long wait, Frank from Verification department just made us HATE Turo now. Keep talking over me and rudest manner and tone to us, the customer!!! Frank has no clue the meaning of customer support!!! Most likely, Turo discriminate against handicap drives and Turo does not want MS driver even though she can drive better than me. We see and hear the quality of people who operating Turo last 2 days. Maybe good idea of startup, but this management team will fail in long run. Just rented a car from Enterprise.     We had an excellent time with our TESLA Model X from Gary. The entire process was very intuitive from Turo for signing up, understanding the fees and terms/conditions. I needed to do a little homework with regard to insurance coverage on my own, so anything to make that easier would be nice. The pickup and drop off process went very well, and actually Gary had a better suggestion that we meet at a local TESLA SuperCharger (or a gas station would work for ICE cars). As trying to do the check in/check out process curbside at the airport would have been incredibly problematic due to the security at airport drop offs/pickup areas. But otherwise it was a great experience and will consider Turo in the future for business and pleasure trips.

    Jimmie's Panamera was rented to me with Jimmie saying it was in fine condition despite check engine light on/off. Within 20 miles, it was lurching in every gear and not hitting on all cylinders. I had to park it 15 miles from owners house as it was losing power by the mile. Contacting the owner and Turo, the rental was terminated. But to get a replacement, I was told I would have to wait with the disabled vehicle until the tow truck arrived. As this was in process, I was told by Sofie that I would be given a $50 credit on the whole deal. After 3.5 hours and getting the alternate vehicle, I took my trip and Aragat's car ran well although some of the control buttons on the climate control were worn away and the left rear door wouldn't unlock using the key.

    At the airport, I texted back to Turo to Sofie to see about applying the $50 credit, the extra miles I had driven having been paid for. She claimed she could not help as she was not the owner of the vehicle, and "as much as (she'd) like to help", I'd have to call customer service. However, customer service had "endorsed" her in the first place. Customer service said it was on a 4-minute queue, but nobody ever answered. Bottom line, there was a pronounced lack of customer service, a rude attitude toward me, and the failure to deliver on the meager $50 compensation offered me for the loss of a half day's vacation due to Turo's failure to do due diligence on the owner Jimmie's 2010 Porsche Panamera.

    Hello, I ended up having to rent a car from Turo because my husband had an unfortunate experience in trying to change/upgrade the vehicle he had reserved for a trip. Since we couldn’t be transferred to the reservation department without first cancelling our reservation, even after explaining our situation, we decided to keep the reservation ultimately and then renting a different car under my name. If a car that’s rented is not what the customer expected, there should be an easier process to help the customer upgrade/change their vehicle. We kept being told to cancel our first reservation without any assurance that there were other vehicles ready to be rented. The lack of customer service and comprehension was not there and it made us feel so frustrated. This is more of a suggestion for you, it would help if your departments provided upgrade/change without cancelling a reservation first and potentially leaving a customer without a rental whatsoever.

    We recently had our first experience with Turo, and it turned out to be the worst car rental experience ever. I personally will not return to Turo anymore, and definitely will not recommend people using it either, because compared to using regular car rental business, renting a car from Turo requires you to be extra cautious, so as not to fall into all kinds of hidden traps.

    1. Before our reservation started, we've paid $80 car delivery fee to the owner. We assumed this $80 would cover him for bring us the car. However, after we got into the car, we found that the owner had left this car at a paying parking lot. We had no choice but to pay for his parking ticket ($17) so that we could start our trip. Otherwise, we would be stuck in the parking lot forever. We complained immediately, and the owner replied us that it was just how it is. Apparently that $80 we paid him before-hand for car delivery went to the drain.

    2. After the trip finished, we received a notice from the owner, saying that he needed to charge us 50 dollars for car cleaning. He uploaded a bunch of photos which he took of all kinds of ridiculous place inside and outside of his car. These places included a. the roof of the car, where there is a tiny drop of bird **; b. the buckle slots of safety belts, where there is dust stuck inside due to years of collection; c. Seams of front and back seats where there are dusty sediment clearly due to many years of driving, and d. all carpets with normal amount of dust on. Based on all these ridiculous and laughable photos, Turo took this 50 dollars from us. However, based on what they have on their website, we would only be responsible for a cleaning fee if we a. stained or split his car; b. left animal hair, or c. smoked in his car.

    We disputed to Turo, pointed out that these photos from the owner are misleading and malicious, and that we only used his car normally. Turo asked us to prove that we only used his car normally by uploading before and after photos, which is impossible for us. Since this was our first time using Turo, it never occurred to us that we would need to take before and after photos. I wonder how many people would take before and after photos when staying in an Airbnb, or rent a car from a standard car rental.

    3. The owner described the car as "like new", however, the car makes a loud noise when driving. Since it was still drivable, we didn't say anything, only because we didn't want to go through the trouble and ruin our trip. When the cleaning fee came to us after the trip, I called Turo customer service to dispute, and during the call I mentioned this deceiving description of the car listed by the owner, the Turo customer service manager (named Eric) accused me of lying, because according to his logic, if this was a real problem, I should have filed a complaint during the trip, not after.

    After this hell experience with Turo, I realized how carefree I could be when I used to rent cars from those standard car rental companies. Renting on Turo is not carefree at all. I went through tons of upsetting hassles during and after my trip, and they were painful and time-wasting. If you want to give it a try, make sure to actively collect evidence to protect yourself during your trip, because you'll need them to fight back in all the subsequent unreasonable charges after your trip.

    I have rented a lot of cars through Turo and it is understandable that some are better than others since the cars are particularly owned. Lately I have been disappointed because some owners have not kept their part of the agreement and Turo has not responded in an efficient manner. In my last experience, I had booked a ride 6 months in advance and I planned my whole family vacation knowing that we already had a reliable car for the road trip. The host cancelled 2 months prior to my trip and Turo sent me a notification that it was a mutual cancellation (which was completely wrong).

    I contacted Turo customer support for help finding another car that would match my needs. I had a terrible experience, no one in Turo responded for a long time and then the staff couldn't find a solution, they kept sending me to different staff members until my case got forgotten and I had to explain the situation countless times, it’s like no one took the lead or any responsibility in helping me find a solution and they were unable to admit that it was not a mutual cancellation. At the end I had to get a much more expensive ride and pay the difference which I thought was unfair. I hope that Turo improves their customer support services as I have been a loyal customer for a long time.

    I was extremely pleased with the flexibility of the car owner. The fact that my original vehicle was cancelled and I only received $20 is frustrating.     I have been with Turo for 2 years now as a host. Over the course I have had great and really really bad experiences with the guest. The problem I have with Turo is that they allow guest to leave exaggerated reviews that are not true. I have had guest damage windshield wipers, leave trash in the car, food spilled all in car between seats, not returning on time, no gas refill etc... Each time I do not leave a review of the guest because I feel that since it occurred this one time I won't leave a review at all for the guest instead of leaving a bad review. Guest will send hosts a personal message stating how great the car was and the best experience. Next thing you know, I read a review from the same guest making all types of outrageous and bogus reviews.

    I contacted Turo many times when this has occurred but Turo states there is nothing they can do about it. "How about verify the legitimacy of the review". I have quit Turo in November of 2018 because there is no money to be made and I have grown sick and tired of the reviews full of blatant lies. First, guest wants the car for practically free then they want a brand new car for practically free. They forget Turo is a used rental car website, not a new car rental website. (They need to go to Enterprise for that) Guest renting other people personal cars (used).

    I have not made 1 profit from Turo in 2 years. After my personal car insurance, my car payment, cleaning the car, delivering the car, there is no profit. I am only allowing people to put miles on my car for free. Turo charges the host fees for everything and also charges the guest cancellation fees but guest seem to think the host is charging those fees. Apparently Turo is not making it clear to guest. I have left Turo and most likely will not return. It was a headache with the guests and a waste of my 2 years time and money.

    This was the most awful car rental service I ever received. I booked a month in advance. When went to get my rental keys was just in car then I got to my destination and received a text from Turo that my reservation had been canceled and I was to drop car off in a parking lot called Ace so I did but never was refunded my 360.     I rented two cars from Turo and had an okay experience. Car three was a NIGHTMARE and I will never use them again, and highly recommend that no one else does either. First problem: Turo rented a car to me from an owner who had taken his car off of the Turo site months ago and they just kept listing his car. I was on the way to that guy's house with a confirmed rental, when the owner called me and told me he had removed his car from the site a while back.

    I immediately called Turo and they said they'd find me another car. (At this point I'm out $20 in Lyft from trying to get to that car.) I ended up being matched with a guy Turo chose based on my car make and model requests. That guy was a CRIMINAL. We walked around the car together both before and after my rental, and there was no damage, and we both agreed. Like an idiot, I didn't take pictures, because we had both inspected the car together. The next day the criminal claimed I had damaged his car in THREE separate place in the two days I had it. He submitted pictures from the next day (none of which showed the full car or the license plate) after the car had been in his possession for over 12 hours, yet Turo's policy is that I was responsible for the car for 24 HOURS AFTER I HAD RETURNED IT.

    Read that last part again, in case you missed it. You, the renter, are legally responsible for the car for 24 hours after it is out of your possession. Um...? So, yeah, Turo charged me for his claim, a tire with a nail in it, and the criminal said that tire cost him $483.80, with a procession fee of $25. So that's $508.80 for a single tire on a Chevy Volt. Was the tire made of gold??? Turo is a terrible service. Any criminal who wants to rent on Turo can, so expect to be screwed and expect to get zero help or protection from Turo. I will never use them again, but please, for your own sanity and peace of mind, don't use them and be scammed like I was.

For example, during sign-up, because I didn't load a photo of myself at first, I couldn't move forward. There are no indications of what is mandatory and what isn't during the registration. The same is true of documenting the condition of the vehicle at pick-up. When I'm asked to take photos, I did with my phone app, not through the Turo app. Only on the second attempt did I realize that was the correct procedure.

The only thing that we didn't like, was that when we parked in Santa Monica and when we got back to the car, it had a ticket in the windshield and I didn't know why because we added enough time on the Parkmeter. After reading the ticket it said that the tags were expired since August. I told the owner and he said he was going to take care of that, but I felt a little paranoid that the police could pull me over at any time because of this.     I have overall been more than happy with my experience with Turo. However, there have been a few things that could use some improvement. 1. Being able to see on the RSVP calendar when trying to rent a vehicle the EXACT times and dates a vehicle is available. Many times days won't be crossed out but then I get told that the vehicle isn't available when I attempt to book the car. At which point I am forced to go through the entire day 30 minutes at a time until I find the exact minute the vehicle is available.

    2. The recent addition of the $100 deposit is more than frustrating and, quite frankly, has caused me to not book on multiple occasions. I understand why it exists, but it's frustrating when I am someone who hasn't had a single issue with payment or my rentals while using Turo. It's especially frustrating when I'm renting from someone that I have rented from time and time again with no issues and am suddenly being charged an extra $100. I don't have an extra $100 sitting around to be tied up in a rental. If I did I would go to Enterprise.

    Rented a car with Turo that was excellent, and the response of the owner fair, but the communication with Turo is a complete mess, the software is in diapers, need a Lot of work. I needed to change the return of the car for a personal emergency and was not approved By Turo. Even the owner approved it, and requested at least 24 hours in advance. If you want to do yourself a favor and need rent Car, use a trustful and serious company who you can at least communicate with.
