Owner knew car had check engine light on and TPMS warning lights on also and didn’t warn me about it until I arrived to pick it up and then left me a 1 star review. I was thinking of being a host myself but am soured by the experience.

Rented a 2009 Honda Civic. When I picked it up the AC wasn’t working - what!!! No AC in the middle of July. Let the owner know and he exchanged the car with his 2015 Mercedes C250 for the same price. Wow customer service!

I was in need of a car to complete my employment training. My nephew recommended Turo. I searched for a Turo near me and I chose a sedan and the cost and time to get the rental sedan was extremely affordable and convenient. I was able to complete my training and return the sedan with no issues. I definitely would recommend Turo. Renting a Turo vehicle is better than renting with Enterprise rental.

I had a blast! Found an excellent car and was so easy to use! I look forward to the next time I can use TURO. However, I was hoping to use someone's referral code for $25 and it did not work. It was a fresh code from someone who is putting their car out for rental. Is it possible to get the $25 credit?

The car rode great & was great on gas. Host was great on communication! The vehicle did not give me any problems throughout the duration of my trip. Any questions or problems I had was answered quickly by the host, would highly recommend!

Shelby was quick to respond, answered all of our questions. His car was clean and ran great. He delivered the car to the airport, right where we where. And pick up was the same. We had quite a few bags and he even offered to get a little luggage rack that hooks on the trailer hitch. Shelby was extremely thoughtful and made the experience easy.

Our Turo experience was very good -- just shy of five stars. It was a bit nerve-wracking booking the initial car. The app is good but not 100% intuitive. Also, I kept getting a creeping feeling our host could cancel, since I had no familiarity with the experience in the past. A little more hand-holding would have been nice. The pick up couldn't have been better. Sanjay dropped off the car clean and he was a real pro. I love the idea of taking all those pictures of the car. There were a few tiny scratches I wanted to call out to Sanjay and I wasn't sure they would be picked up on the app -- I didn't want to get dinged for those. But, I also didn't want to be a jerk. So, that's something maybe you guys have to work on.
The car was fun to drive and we were under the mileage -- something I thought we might max out. I kept being nervous about the car getting damaged even though I had Turo coverage. Driving the car just didn't FEEL like driving a rental car -- I felt responsible to Sanjay in a way I wasn't with all my rental cars. This was both good and bad. The updates from Turo were fine, but I never felt like anyone was ACTUALLY there behind the emails. Maybe a call to check in would have been nice, or a personalized text. The auto emails felt like auto emails.
Dropping off the car got me a bit nervous too. There's a SINGLE drop off time -- not a window. At Budget it doesn't matter if I'm a little early or late. Also, since I met and liked Sanjay I wanted to make the car extra clean, so I had to find a local car wash and vacuum stuff not too long before the drop off time. This was a bit stressful too. At the end of the day, Turo did as good or a better job than Budget or Enterprise, and I'm thankful for that.

The app made searching and booking the vehicle very easy. My communication and experience with the vehicle owner was great. The pickup and drop off was very easy and a lot more convenient than renting a car from a typical rental car company.

This is by far the best way to rent a car. You have much more interesting options, including customized cars or ones hardly found on the rental lots. Not to mention you are renting from people who actually care about the car and the service. These two things could be more than enough to cover up a bad app or user experience. But here is the kicker, both of these are FANTASTIC! I am done with rental companies. Heck I want to start renting out cars!

They charge me extra money which is not fair. The car had lots maintenance problems. I reported right away brakes engine since I reported they charge me for extra mileage and cleaning fee which is not fair. I’m so disappointed.

With the ease of TURO I don't think I could ever go back to regular Airport Car Rental system. With this app you don't get charged for unnecessary stuff. You pay, drive, deliver and it's all done. Everyone who travels a lot should start using this App service. Stupendous. No issues, and even if there is you are 100% in right to dispute any charges. #TURO is the way of the future!

This was a first use of Turo. I found the reservation process, communications both prior to and during the reservation to be quick and clear. The car we rented from David was clean and in perfect working condition. Pick up and drop off were simple. We would definitely use David again for future stays on Kauai.

We booked a vehicle a reasonable time ahead of our vacation. We had communicated everything with our host and he had agreed to everything talked about. We had an issue with the Turo app not allowing us to put in the correct pickup and drop off times. However, we presented our times to the host and he agreed to them. A couple of days before the trip I messaged the host again just to reintegrate everything we had previously discussed. He, once again, confirmed that everything would be fine. The only issue this time was the host asked that we change our pickup and drop off location to his house. I agreed to this.
Shortly after he asked me to attempt to change our times again to accurately depict our pickup and departure times. This time I was able to put them in however the host failed to confirm this change in time. By then it was too late to change it again. Then, three hours before our trip it was canceled. I called support to resolve this issue. The rep told me the company had several bugs and he couldn’t do much for me. He told me my refund amount. The amount I was refunded was less than what I was told and I should’ve been refunded the full amount as the issue was not my fault but Turo's. I finally talked the rep into contacting our host to rebook our trip. He was able to do so but with different stipulations. Instead of unlimited miles (which was one of the reasons we booked this vehicle) we were only given 1250. All of these issues were the fault of Turo and not me nor the host.

Great experience! This was my first time using Turo and I can’t wait to book from them again. The car I rented was great, easy to pick up and return. I feel this is the much better route to go than the traditional car rental companies. Saves $$$.

The wife and I took a long trip around Oregon and Washington in a Turo vehicle supplied by Jay in Portland. We picked the car up on a Sunday afternoon, and ran into an issue with accessing the car. We called Jay and he answered immediately, opening the car for us remotely. Problem solved! After taking the pictures needed for checkout, we headed out to dinner. Noticed right away that the left turn signal was out. Turns out it was full of rainwater and caused the bulb to pop when activated. Stuff happens, so I dropped Jay a text explaining what happened. He got back to me instantly - since I have a mechanical background I offered to replace the bulb, and he told me to upload the receipt on the Turo app. I did, and Jay reimbursed me on Venmo. Easy!
Almost 1500 trouble free miles later, I returned the car to the same street I picked it up. Took the required pictures, texted Jay to tell him the car was back, then caught a ride to the train station. Easy! In summary I was very pleased with my first experience with Turo. Having a sharp and responsive lender in Jay made all the difference. I'll definitely use Turo again when I'm in an area that I can get it. It was very convenient, quite cost effective, and a lot of fun too. Thanks to everyone involved!

Stephen had the car prepared on time and was great communicating with me as well. The car is well kept and drives beautifully. Returning the vehicle was easy as well. Stephen asked I put the key in a lockbox although he wasn't home which was a simple process. I highly recommend renting from Stephen!

The car was great all week -- easy to drive and good gas mileage. The problem was that when Kirill picked up the car, he just jumped in and drove off, saying nothing. Then, a few hours later, I got a request for $30 for cleaning. Why didnt he look it over and let me know right when he picked it up? I assumed that things were fine since he shook my hand, thanked me and drove away. That is not ok and I dont think I should have to pay it. NOT HAPPY.

Usually a nice selection of cars. Obviously there is more selection in larger cities/metropolitan areas. I have always had a good experience with the car owners. They have been very flexible with pick up/drop off. I really appreciate being able to read reviews prior to renting. It is also nice to see the total at check out before actually committing to rent.

I am a long-time Turo user and have used the app to rent more than a dozen times. Overall, I am very satisfied with the service and will definitely use again. Just a few recommendations: -Enable users to be able to message hosts prior to making a booking. Right now, you cannot communicate with anyone on Turo unless you have a booking. It's important to be able to ask questions. -Have more Turo valet locations.

Everything was good except the fact that we had to drop off the car early in the morning and we were asked to just park it and pay the maximum parking fee. I didn’t think that was right. One the pick up person should have come and collected the car no matter what the time was early hours or late hours and if he wanted us to park and leave then he should pay the parking fee, not us.

I have made several attempts to make my first reservation and have had nothing but technical issues. Booking from Canada but insists that my zipcode is wrong. I don't have a zip code. It accepts my province and country but insists on a zip code. I have tried both app and website with no luck. Tech help was not user friendly, equally convoluted process to ask a simple question... But I eventually got a message through. We will see if i get an answer "quickly". Can I ask a host a question about their car without having to make a reservation?

The app is awesome... I had to travel far to pick up & drop off the vehicle... The vehicle was really old & not maintenance well... The flooring was coming up, lights was on the dashboard, it look like it was in an accident, the trunk wouldn't close then the gas hand wouldn't work... Then, I could drive the car for one day & couldn't get that money back... I had to add oil & transmission fuel to the vehicle... I called customer service. They were no help...

The car rental was great. BMW had 135k on it but everything worked well and it drove really solid. It made the trip better. When I checked out I realized I had somehow selected $59 insurance on an $80 rental. I am not sure how but when I did a test rental afterwards, they tend to push you to the default ultimate insurance and you need a couple of clicks to get to more basic.

Met with heavy restrictions, low value for money in car selection and high fees by the major car rental outlets, our disappointment was turned to joy when we discovered Turo. The car selection is very diverse and we found a beautiful car offered by a wonderful host at a reasonable rate. We found Turo's rules and stated responsibilities for all parties to the rental booking, to be a very equitable and risk free space in which to conduct the business of renting a car. Hiring a car through Turo offered a level of freedom we simply could not find with any major car rental company. Using the app to book the car, to communicate and interact with the host and to arrange changes to the booking was easy and stress free. Overall, our experience was very positive and we are looking forward to the next opportunity to hire a car through Turo. This is how renting a car should be.

Two people backed out. I still have money in my account. One person said she call a few months ago to have her car removed. The next person's car was confirmed. In the message I asked him to email me info where to pick up the keys. He never emailed. I got a message from Turo on my cell phone telling me the car was canceled. The reason I wanted email was because I work 12 hours and can't have my phone at work but I can access my email.

The whole experience was amazing. From the ability to communicate directly through the app and the ease of using it to document mileage as well as any deficiencies (there were only two very minor things) with it before driving away. The return was equally as simple. We left the keys at the hotel desk and everything was as simple as that! I have already recommended using this service to anyone I know traveling in the near future. My experience was wonderful. So quick and easy and the rental was better than expected. It was my first time using the app but I will be using it again for sure. Great concept and my host was great. The price was ok. Turo was more expensive than the big companies if you book in advance with them, but cheaper than them if you had to book on short notice. Car selection wasn’t super great but luckily I found a great one so I was happy.

The car pick up and delivery was great. Communication with the owner was great. When I reviewed the car I got a note saying I got a 4 out of 5 rating and the owner wanted to charge me $10 because he felt the car on the outside was dirty. I actually had vacuumed out the car because I know I had gotten some pine needles from my shoes in the trunk and on the drives side. I even rinsed the car off at the car wash since I was there to clean the windows form bugs.
To me after driving the car for a week this is normal wear and tear if you will. If the guy wants the value of a $10 car was then he should build it into his rental price. It is his choice to give me a 4 rating but why would I pay the $10 if there is no ability to get a 5. Especially when the dirt on the car is normal wear and tear. It rained two days while I was in Seattle/Port Angeles. I wasn't driving on dirt roads. I didn't whine when he gave me the car at 3/4 of a tank full and I filled it right before the drop off. If I do rent from Turo again I will take photos of the gas gauge, outside and inside of the car, odometer all before and after. I would recommend that to all Turo renters. I also rented an AirBnB and I had none of these issues. I have spent more negative energy on this frustrating part of the rental.

The time of my rental, 7-2/7-21, is a very expensive time in Hawaii over the 4th of July Holiday!!! However, finding Turo saved us between 4-5 hundred dollars compared to a traditional car rental, plus we had a new vehicle thru New City Nissan, It was a New 2019 Nissan Rogue with only 1084 miles, Heather the rental agent was awesome & very helpful answering all of my questions do to this being my first Turo Rental. Overall a tremendously wonderful rental experience!!!

Using the app and finding cars through app is all good. One of my cars was perfectly described. The other was not. I blame this on user profiles and not Turo itself. Both of my experiences the communication with car owner was terrific, even on the car that was not as described and he discounted and refunded part of my rental cost.

I found Turo last summer and have been looking for an opportunity to try it out. We rented a very well maintained 2009 Porsche Boxter for a three days and had a fantastic road trip from the Portland area, to Mt. Rainier, down the Tieton River, back up the Yakima River Canyon and back over the pass catching a couple of ferries to the Olympic Peninsula and then back home. We had a ball in the car and the experience was easy, enjoyable and better than we expected! I will definitely use Turo again, I highly recommend it!!

Ms. ** was strictly professional with the vehicle drop off at the airport and pick up arrangement was well organized. The car was clean, drop off individual was on time and give me proper instruction about the vehicle. After my trip was over, I was email an address with instructions to drop off the car and how to secured the key but before I could finish my drop off task an Uber driver courtesy of Ms. ** was right there waiting on me to take me to the airport. Struggled a little with the license information upload as it initially wouldn’t accept the number then I randomly figured out I needed to put spaces between groups of numbers even though I scanned in the license and thought it would have auto loaded correctly?? In the market for a new/used car and hate that dealerships only let you test drive very short distances - Turo allows one to actually test drive a car for extended days to allow normal driving conditions one might encounter in regular usage - helps to make right decision.

My review with Trace, whom I rented from is a 5 star review. He was great to work with. However, the Turo website in general needs to be amended. Clarifying instructions regarding adding secondary drivers need to be given. I submitted my secondary driver’s info 6 weeks in advance, and she was NEVER approved. Customer service was not apologetic at all when both I and the secondary driver reached out. Like I said, my rental and who I rented from is fabulous. Would work with him again any day!

The drop off meeting point was very safe and convenient. Everything was great and I had a smooth road trip. The only recommendation is to make sure the cars are equipped and in good condition for long distance road trip.

I rented a car via Turo for the first time. I had the car from Monday afternoon until Thursday afternoon. I was allowed up to 600 miles yet I only used about 100. I took excellent care of the car. I hand washed, vacuumed the interior and made sure the car was filled with premium gas prior to returning. The host immediately thanked me for taking such great care of the car then asked me to give him a good rating. I did as he asked. The following morning I received an email that the owner filed a claim against me for scratches that had been on the car since we picked up the rental.
I had taken pictures of the scratches and uploaded them to the Turo site but because I didn’t upload them immediately upon pickup (it was about 2 hours later because the app was giving me issues) I was found to be responsible for the scratches. The owner sent a timestamped photo of the car at 9:30 am with no damage. Who can say if the pictures had been altered or edited in any way. l, however, I did not pick up the vehicle until over 4 hours after the original pictures were taken. The rental time was as 1:30pm and I arrived around 2pm. There was plenty of time for the vehicle to sustain the claimed damage.
The owner had this car parked on a very narrow street with a lot of bends and many cars nearby. The scratch (that was on the car when I picked up the rental) could have occurred from any one of the many cars that went down that street. The owner should have been at the pickup location - which I did not know he wouldn’t be there, and this issue would have never happened. It is infuriating to be accused of something that you did not do! I will never rent with Turo again and an investigation needs to be done into Mikhail ** because this claim is a lie! Turo holds me responsible because my pictures were uploaded 2 hours later, yet the owners pictures were uploaded over 4 hours prior. It’s a scam from all ends.

We rented a car through Turo with the following experience. The car was delivered to the Minneapolis airport for us. We drove it to my sisters' home in MSP. The next time we used the vehicle, though all looked fine, the tire pressure warning light came on. We drove to a service station and added air to the affected tire. We had to do this throughout our rental. It was an inconvenience but not a big deal as it was a slow leak and the tire pressure monitoring system always advised when it was just a little low, so we could top up the air in a timely fashion.
When we returned the car at the Minneapolis airport we were met not by the car owner but by her brother in law. She was out of town. We returned the car on Sunday morning. We advised the brother in law of the slow leak and warned him to monitor and add air as needed until it could be repaired. Several days later, presumably on the owner's return to Minneapolis, the owner contacted us to ask about the tire. We told her it had leaked from the start, but that we kept topping up the air so that it never got flat or presented a problem. We then got notification of a claim for damage being filed. We explained the car tire leaked air from the start and pointed out the damage could have been acquired by the car owner even when driving the car to the airport to meet us in the first place. In any case, we were billed for the "repair" which came to $250, which is ridiculous for a slow leak. I assume the owner got a new tire and we paid for it.
There was no documentation provided by Turo regarding the claim, decision, or cost of the repair. No invoice or justification for their decision. They just billed our credit card for the full amount of the repair. I would not advise using Turo given their claims processing approach. Incidentally, our vehicle also had faulty A/C so that it worked only sporadically, which can happen with any rental but was unpleasant given the rental was in early July. In light of our experience, I am surprised we have not been charged for repair to the A/C as well! Jeff

I didn’t have a pet in the car yet there are only photos post rental of car with pet hair mostly under seat carpeting. No one sat in the back seat where dog hair was allegedly found. I have rented through Turo more than 10 times and have had extraordinary experiences 9 out of 10 times. One car (VW Convertable in Boston) had some hood problems and the owner came out to try to fix. The bigger issue was that he couldn't meet us at airport check in and asked us to leave at an airport hotel (we couldn't find) and almost missed our flight. All ended well, but stress we didn't need.

Highly recommend, great little car. Great air conditioner. Really needed during the heat wave. The temperature was in the high 90's during the six days I had the car. Pick up and delivery at the Denver Airport was simple. Would not be any different with any of the other car rental places. Rental went without a hitch or even a hiccup. Owner Jeremiah was very accommodating to the point he left the van and key at the hotel desk for us as we arrived in Anchorage at 1:40 am. I am very patient and understanding when it comes to these things. I understand that this company is busy. However, this was probably the worse customer service I have ever had. I sent several emails through the “contact Us” page through the span of a week and never received a single response. As my question became more urgent due to my trip coming up I called Turo directly. The Woman on the phone was almost mumbling and I had to have her repeat multiple things. She didn’t know what the answer was to a basic question so she put me on hold for probably 20-30 minutes before she came back onto the phone and said she was not authorized to do it.
I asked to speak to the manager because they may be able to override it. She said that her manager was “not in right now” and that she would sent him an email and get back to me on the next business day but guess what, I never received an email. I was not that surprised because I had not received a response for any of the other emails.

My experience with Turo was the only smooth thing that went on during my stay in Oahu. Shawn was an amazing help and made the trip and ease and even went above and beyond when I had questions. Everything seemed fine until my reservation was canceled 36 hours before I was to rent the vehicle. I had to drop everything I was doing and find another vehicle on short notice. I wound up renting one 40 minutes away, which required $80 in round trip Lyft rides. I wasn't aware that I needed to vacuum and wash the car afterwards, so the owner of the vehicle charged me $24 for not doing so. I spent $104 more than expected, had to arrange alternate transportation, and was put through a last minute ringer to get another car. I am so not impressed with TURO.

I was very disappointed to discover the addition of a $7.99/day Turo service fee that I did not find suggested or disclosed anywhere prior to the final booking process. This increased my anticipated cost at the last minute. I rented a "VW Golf Alltrak" and researched this vehicle prior to booking. I understood it to be a 4WD vehicle. I prefer mid - larger size vehicles. While considering the 4WD option represented, a larger VW Jetta, renting for $8 less per day and available from the same person became unavailable. I settled for the Golf and kept this option even when several Priuses became available for less. After picking up the vehicle I noted there was no 4WD and no logging for Alltrak. It was a TSI, base model vehicle which retails for $8000 less than the 4WD Alltrak.
I inquired about this upon return and was told, "Turo did not offer the option of listing the TSI and the provider was told by Turo the closest match was the Alltrak." He further stated he originally had the vehicle listed as a GTI, but changed this after a previous customer complaint. I do not want to penalize the provider with a negative review, but this was not the vehicle listed, lacked a specific feature (4WD), upon which I chose it and could have been stranded without and was not a value for a base model vehicle. Both of the above have left me disappointed with the experience and your service.

This is a wonderful service that you offer, but as a first time user, I was disappointed with TURO on so many levels. Your web site was very difficult to navigate. I tried 3 times without success to "rent this vehicle now" and thought that I had rented it, subject to you contacting me for my info, but nothing ever happened. Each time I would go back, rent it again (at a higher price per day) and still didn't get it. Finally, it did work. But you offered a $25 discount for a first time renter, which you did NOT give me on the invoice, nor has it appeared anywhere else. Also, the car owner offered to waive the $25 delivery fee if delivered to DEN (and he still does on his page on your site), but you charged me the $25. In addition, you asked me to send in a pic of myself for easy identification at the airport, but he never got it. I did see it on his pics of the interior and exterior condition of the car,??? TURO still owes me $50!

Only needing a car for the day, the price of a traditional rental car company was much more expensive than Turo. I was able to find a car I liked and made the reservation without any problem. The owner messaged me and stayed in contact all the way through the rental. The pick-up and drop-off were convenient and happened just as stated. My only concerns were 1. I wasn't aware that Turo would be tracking my drive, and 2. The car started out with only 3/4 tank of gas. This makes it much harder to estimate how much to put in before returning. Other than that, a great rental experience.

To Whom It May Concern, I contacted Turo via phone the day of my trip in Calgary after I spoke with the car's owner to see if they could assist with adding insurance. I saw I could still add minimum protection for $7/day, which I was very interested in doing. They informed me I would need to contact Turo to handle insurance and payment inquiries. Each time I tried to pay for the insurance it stated payment not completed then provided a pop-up saying, "Request Failed. The payment amount may have changed. Please try again."
The amount of $14.29 was not changing for new charges, so I couldn't figure out why I was unable to add protection through Apple Pay or debit/credit input. Throughout the 37 minutes phone call, I was transferred over 7 times back and forth between departments with as minimal help as possible. After disappointing phone service, I eventually ended the call and chose to email back and forth with Turo Support despite the request being semi-urgent. I hoped to have better luck with the team there. It was still not resolved and eventually Turo Support stopped responding. This went on for a handful of days, up until about Sunday July 14th, two days before my trip with the Ford Focus was complete.
I have tried to be patient, however, my request was seemingly simple to add the already offered insurance for a rental car. I would have liked to have the peace of mind for minimal insurance, yet it seems that it was too confusing with both payment and the fact I was a US account holder renting a car from Canada. I have the emails with the support team and screenshots of the ongoing payment dilemma if needed. This being said, I would like to receive some form of reimbursement or credit from Turo if possible for lack of quality service. Please let me know if this is possible, I don't mean to be a pest but I think Turo is a great form of car rental but the support I received was horrible. Thank you for your time. Carly

I received the car with a warning light flashing on the dashboard. The owner had rented the car to us with low tire pressure. Upon returning the car there was a scuff 3 inches in size. I feel I am being overcharged for the "damage." I'm told I could have to pay up to $500, which is a ridiculous amount for a scuff that size.

For me price is everything. The price is definitely right. The smoothness of the pickup and drop-off was very good. Better than standard rental cars. Vladimir used a lock box and left the car in the parking area. All I have to do is walk out find the car and lock the lock box get in and go. For drop-off I let Vladimir know when I was dropping off the car market in the parking lot lock the keys inside and went to the airport. It doesn't get any better than that it was as if it was my own car. I will definitely be using Turo in the future.

I am being charged for damages that did not occur to the vehicle during my trip. The host didn’t show up to the drop off, something happened to the car after I checked out on the app and then the host filed a claim against me the next day for close to $1000 in damages. Turo charged my card without my authorization and won’t return the money they stole from me. The Claims Associate quit replying to my emails too. Be very careful when using this app.

Why you may ask… Well, I tried to book a car but the host never replied so the request lapsed. I made another booking that was accepted. Guess what Turo did… They took all the money for the first request! They did not wait for the host to agree (which he never did). They just took the money. I tried making an account and it took over 2 weeks. The support sucks and supposedly they verify you legit to drive with your license, but they don't verify anything. I'd be worried if there's ever an accident. 1) Verify: they never solved the problem as to why I couldn't fill in my driver's licence number to get approved (below) so to try something random I changed my issuing country from USA to USA outlying islands. It worked. I'm from Massachusetts.... Got the idea because entering my state caused my ID number to be invalid. But the other countries didn't require as much info as USA. Even the "USA outlying islands" option didn't need me to specify where I came from. So they don't verify anything. Totally able to lie about everything on the site. I'm not sure I trust them or insurance.
2) Support: The website kept marking my driver's licence number as wrong because of my state. I've been emailing and calling Turo but no help. First, contacted support on the website and he asked for pictures of myself, my licence, and my credit card (all with the numbers covered). Then no response. No response to follow up email. Tried website support again and no response. Only phone number I could find was from other reviews on Google and they send me to a text help service (first text response came after 1 week). I called Canada support number and they got me to an actual person in the USA. He was nice and said he expedited my problem and gave me the verification team email. Said wait 48 hrs for reply. I did and nothing. Emailed verification again and nothing. Text help got back to me today and useless info.

It takes some getting used to if you're new - how exactly does pick up and drop off work. Really enjoyed the experience though. The car was as described. The fees were appropriate. The ability to communicate with the owner was solid.

Okay! So, Turo is the absolute worst! I see 14K likes on this page and fancy calendarized social media posts as pointless as the company itself. Sigh! We moved to Austin, TX for the summer and came across Turo after a great deal of search. We were looking for short term rentals and honestly, it seemed like a brilliant idea. Boy, were we wrong! We tried the app for a week with a very good host, liked it and decided to book a car long term. We were getting a better deal from another star host and decided to go ahead with the car for over 2 months. Unfortunately, we had a couple of parking lot incidents on a fateful Sunday three weeks ago which caused us to lose the driver's side view mirror and a few front bumper scratches. We had taken standard insurance protection (which is quite a lot of insurance to pay per day) and it seemed like the support team was there to help, or so they assured us!
Ms. Casey ** from the claims department (lord help anyone who crosses paths with her) came across as the most helpful person on earth until she wasn't. We were asked to go to a body shop and get an estimate and even told to get the repairs done. We scouted a collision center, got an overall estimate and even paid in advance for purchasing the mirror part and waited for a final go-ahead. We shared our estimate and invoice with Turo for verification. That is when all communication stopped! The only responses we got were vague replies which have no bearing to the situation. Ms. ** told us something like "It is not illegal to drive without a mirror. we checked!" I mean are you for real. We have been trying to reach her and the Turo team in every way possible. Driving around in a car which is potentially dangerous to us and others on the road because we DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT.
We got a mail two days ago saying your claim is now closed. What? Not a word about what should we do to get the car fixed. Not a word about when or where should we go to get the repairs. We have the booking for over 6 more weeks and we do not know how we are expected to just manage while this company posts stock images on their page! People in Austin know how impossible it is to get around this city without a vehicle. Trust me, we tried! We are at our wit's end and this is the last resort! So, the question is, who do we blame if this results in a real accident? Why is there so much incompetence on the part of your company? Why are your support team and claims department from two different planets? Who is running this godawful company!
P.S- Before I made this post, I tried reaching them on Facebook messenger because we had exhausted all other options. Guess what they responded with? NOTHING! If this reaches the right people, which I seriously doubt, our claim number is 82573. All we want is for someone to pick up the phone on us and tell us HOW and WHERE TO FIX THE CAR! It's been close to a month. It's just about time.

I have rented the vehicle for 5 days with 1500kms limit. However the owner initial agreed for $40 for any extra mileage over the text conversation. But they changed after a day. By then we have already driven 1500 kms considering we would pay extra $40 dollars. Because of the change in the agreement, I didn’t have a choice but to accept and pay $259 extra. The customer care was not helpful. If I had a proof of the agreement, you should support your customer not take a neutral stand and say the host is the boss. Very disappointed with the service.

The check in and check out process is confusing and problematic. Every time I tried to check in before using the car, the app kept crashing. More than a dozen times. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it still crashed. I couldn't find a customer service phone number to call to resolve. Very frustrating. I also couldn't find the way to check out of the trip.

12 day rental. Car and Host were exceptional. My motivation to look at TURO was the response from a nationally known car rental company when I asked them to extend the rental period of a car I already had for an additional 12 days. Their quote was ridiculous! I remebered a TV ad for TURO and looked them up and great car for 1/2 the cost I was quoted from the nationally known company. TURO will be the first place that I look for all my car rentals as I travel.

We rented a seven passenger van through Turo and had a very good experience. The vehicle was clean and in good order and served us very well. Pick up and return of the car was convenient and communication with the owner was easy. I would use Turo again in the future.

I have yet to rent a "regular" car, but the last two times I rented, the cars I got were amazing experiences! The hosts were great and the whole system seems to be excellent. One host mentioned a horror story about getting an insurance claim taken care of, I'm hopeful that's not the norm. Considering putting my car on Turo for use.

I like the app. It is pretty easy to use. It is difficult to fix a problem immediately though because often one schedules a car when they need it without much time for reorganizing if there is a problem. So one car that I booked, the AC did not work but I had to take the car because the person did not have another one and there was no time to book another. The last time I booked a car, I showed up and there was a crack in the windshield. The owner said it just happened with the renter before and they did not have time to fix it or get another car. The crack was small and did not obscure the drivers vision so I used it.
When I was returning the car, there were people there ready to rent it again. I asked the owner if they were going to fix the crack, which had gotten larger due to the temperature disparity between the interior with the AC on and the exterior being really hot. I was very disappointed in the owner for not taking the car out of the rental pool and getting the windshield fixed. I wish there were more cars available in my area at the last minute so I had an option to fix these problems. Thanks.

I found a vehicle that matches my values - a Toyota Prius. The owner, Chan, was amazing! Very flexible, easy to make a few minor adjustments. I'm 100% sold on using Turo going forward. I look forward to trying Turo on my future trips.

I always have a good experience in Turo, good price, the car I chose was perfect and its owners very kind, punctual and answered any questions. I had no problem with the car, good maintenance. I would rent the same car again and Turo. I recommend using Turo for any type of vacation or for when you need an emergency car.

We really enjoyed renting this Mini Cooper. It ran great and was fun to drive. The top was easy to navigate and we enjoyed the convertible feature a lot. Clark was so nice and easy to work with! I would recommend him and any of his rental cars.

The entire process was easy and simple. Pick-up Drop-off was done at airport curbside saving us lots of time and hassle to go to the rental car lot and move luggage in/out of transfer shuttles etc. Got a car that would not be std offering at any usual rental car places.

Software bug caused significantly inconvenience. I believe what happened with my reservation is that I searched for cars around the airport I was flying into. When I booked the car, it automatically set the airport as a delivery location and charged me a ~$80 delivery fee without my knowledge. When I arrived at the lot in my check-in instructions, the car was not there because it had been driven to the airport. However, the worker at the lot didn't know that at the time. By the time we figured it out, I had spent an additional $45 on rides. Finally, I got back to the airport to pick up the car and was charged another $10 for parking. In total, I suffered $130 in additional costs while wasting substantial amounts of my time in transit, or on the phone with Turo and the owner. This was my worst car rental experience from a service standpoint, but I ultimately got partially refunded, and I did like the car. On balance, I would be quite hesitant about using Turo again.

TURO was great when it first came out. The prices were reasonable and the app was filled with people just trying to make some extra cash by renting out their personal vehicle. But now unfortunately it's full of people trying to compete with the rental car companies by offering their cars for like $10 less and cancelling last minute on you if they think they can make more off someone else. If you're booking a car that's around the same price as a rental company. Save yourself the headache and just go with the rental company. If you find a car that's actually a lot cheaper and has a reputable owner then by all means TURO away.

Volvo. The car was dirty old and smelled. The check engine light was on the whole time. The car lurched forward while idling and almost got me into a few bad situations. The price was perfect so I gave it a 4.

This was my first time using Turo. I saw it advertised on social media and when I saw how much cheaper it was than renting a car, I didn't hesitate. When I met the owners of the car we rented for our 11 day stay in Hawaii, I was blown away by the experience. They were extremely nice and knowledgeable and it was a way better experience than your average car rental place. The flexibility and price and service was outstanding. In addition, we got to drive around a 2019 Corolla the entire trip! I will NEVER rent from a car rental place again. Please use Turo! I'm glad we did.

Just got back from Salt Lake City and our first experience with Turo was great! Our host made pickup and drop-off easy, the car was just as advertised, and best of all, I saved almost $300 versus traditional rental car rates!

I am a host. My car was returned with damage. This was a one month rental. The driver window was broken out. She had it repaired. I wanted my car back immediately but the only way to do that is if the renter puts in a request to return the car early. She was able to keep the car 11 more days. Unfortunately I was at work when she returned the car. This is a 2019 with 719 dollars of damage to the paint. Claims specialist gave me the runaround.

If you're unsure about Turo, don't be! This service is better than any top name rental car company. My boyfriend and I were able to afford a Jeep at literally half the cost and we loved every minute! Both check in and check out are seamless and Turo support is just a click away with their online chat service.

The owner, Christina was great. However, my plan was to go to Long Beach then San Diego, about 350 miles RT. She gave me 200 then went up to 250 after I asked. This cut out my LB trip. Then Turo kept bugging about the mileage overage. My deposit more than covered it but instead of taking it out and refunding my credit, I am stuck fighting w/ them. They want to charge new balance then refund my deposit. UUgghh!!

Turo has many cars and the app is easy to use. Reservation is easy. It was my first time to use Turo, so I did not know I had to "check-in" with Turo when I got the car. After knowing more about the app, I think it is quite easy to use.

First time using Turo and I saved money and time. Bens vehicle was cheaper to rent via Turo than a similar vehicle from an agency. Saved time as all I had to do was walk to and find it in the parking area which was well described including pictures and then drop it off there as I found it. Vehicle was perfect for our trip to Rocky Mountain National Park.

Simple and easy thru the website and the renter was very nice and communication was great even though we were on a cruise ship with no internet or phone. Vehicle was waiting for us right off the ship. Vehicle was fully gassed up and ready to drive easy drop off instructions and back on the ship.

I've had my account for over two years but kind of forgot about Turo. My husband was working out of town and I wanted to go see him. I remembered Turo. Picking out a vehicle was painless. Paying was easy and communicating with my host was so smooth. She was beyond great! Very accommodating. I needed to use the vehicle a little longer and extending with my host and Turo was a seamless process. I love Turo and recommend them to everyone.

The pick-up/drop off procedure was easy with good directions to follow. The car was clean and as described in the advertisement. I would highly recommend this car and service to a friend. Only issue we had was that we were not able to download the Turo app as we don't have a smartphone, but the owner was very flexible and we had a great time with that car. It had good gas mileage and very easy to drive.

Went to pickup vehicle in Las Vegas. The vehicle looked nice bit did not have any air conditioning. They knew we were driving to Arizona, which they did try to get a/c repaired after they tried to lie about not knowing it didn't have AC. I got a vehicle from airport and had a great time in AZ.

Seems like Cabs are a thing of the past, with the option of Turo it’s home Safe and trip on, best of all there are no hidden fees. I won’t rent from an airport ever again. I rented a car through Turo. When I came to pick it up Jeremy (host) said the car that I had rented just broke down, and can’t be rented, but he has 13 cars he manages. I was waiting 20 minutes for him in his parking lot, under the sun with my husband and my son. He showed up late in a 2009 Kia with a broken left taillight and other cosmetic damage, but apparently driving fine. This being my first ever trip with Turo, I just said OK, and he told me to message him through the app that the switch is OK, took a photo of my driver’s license photo and give me this KIA.
Today I was in the process of returning the car, checking out, taking pictures, waiting for the host to respond whether I can drop the car earlier than scheduled. And when he said yes, I went outside to drive the car back, and it would not start at all. No response to turning the key. The car is in front of my house. I contacted Jeremy, and am contacted Customer support. 3 hours later I got help, drop car, host not even show up, I wrote complaints, send photos, but I have no idea if anyone did anything to correct situation from happening in the future. I try delete my Turo account and not able to do so because my claim.

The Turo host are experienced, accommodating, prompt and friendly. This is a wonderful service especially for older folks. Delivery service is vital for seniors who live in units that do not have parking and not close to public transportation. Thank you!

I have been a guest four times and a host eight times. The idea is fine, and I think you can turn a small profit if it's your thing, but I would feel weird inside if I did not report that the company is SUPER slimy. There is really no character or backbone here - it's just a money-making scheme. I don't know whether that is saying much for an app-based business in 2019 but I have to say it. The customer support is absolutely awful. 2/10. The payout goes roughly 30% to the insurer, 20% to Turo and 50% to the host. That means your guest is paying $70/day and you see $35.
Fast food got a bad rap after Supersize Me because people realized that they were paying for convenience and the actual food had no nutritional benefit, in fact it was harmful to health. I see why people want to put money into Turo so they can have a whip to drive when they visit someplace (I've done it) but this company is really trash. They care about money and that's it. Maybe check out some of these other alternative rental options, they might have more integrity.

I’ve rented the Turo for my pleasure twice and so far the experience has ruined my supposed to be fun experience. The vehicles were so outdated and old and some smelled faulty. Exterior and interior of these vehicles were very poor and embarrassing to ride and by paying money for. I’m never going to rent Turo again. I want my money back!!!

Rented from Donny in Denver. Communications were good, and he gave me all of the information that was needed, when I needed it. He was also flexible with the times I needed. Car was clean and ran well. I will definitely rent from him again if I need a car in the Denver area.

The entire process was easy. We had to pick up the car at a Turo valet and they reimbursed us for the Uber ride from the airport. The only part that was confusing was the check out. The valet just took the keys and then we got an email with a ton of pictures. Wasn’t sure if we were all good or not? Our host Mike was great. Kept in touch with us before and during our rental making sure we were all good. I will definitely use Turo again!

The van was a piece of **. Didn't have any air conditioning in it and when you hit the brakes there was a loud noise and the shocks were bad in the back and when you turn the wheel to the right or left it made a loud noise so if I was your company I would take that vehicle off your website okay. I was rented a vehicle with expired tags, was pulled over with my fiancee and 2 yr old son on his birthday and thankfully given a warning. Officer said he should have arrested me but would give me a warning. When I contacted the host (Hassan) he said it was impossible and couldn't understand why I was upset. When I returned he texted me that he would refund me then didn't respond to texts for 10 days until I told him I would review his rental.
He then texted me repeatedly harassing me and telling me that I didn't deserve a refund (even though he offered without me asking) and said that it wasn't his fault and I shouldn't be upset over a perfect rental experience. I called corporate and at first they offered a 25 dollar voucher for the inconvenience of almost being jailed on my son's birthday. And to top it off, Hassan complained and got my rating removed. So it means more to Turo to keep hosts happy then the safety and well being of their customers. I will be filing with BBB as well.

Very easy and super convenient! Very short drive to the lot from the airport, no wait whatsoever when we got to the Turo lot. Car was very clean and ready to go. The car itself didn’t really like 1st gear but it did its thing. Got us from A to B with no problems! We will definitely be renting from Turo again in the future!

While I did like to drive a car I wouldn’t normally rent (convertible, high-end car), I was not overly impressed with the delivery and pick up of the car. The owner’s wife delivered it but couldn’t show me how anything worked on the car because she had no idea. The delivery was also late, leaving us to wait outside the airport. The return was scheduled, I messaged that we were there and where should we meet. Finally, 40 min later, received a text saying to just leave in short term parking with the keys in it. Never did meet the owner, nor did they look over what the car looked like when I returned. Yet when I landed back at home, I received an invoice for $21 additional due to the car not being vacuumed, and a bird had pooped on it. Yes, I saved money. No, I will not use again. When I rent a car I just need it for transport, I usually don’t have time to vacuum and go through a car wash.

I was unable to upload to Turo either by phone or wifi. The owner worked with me and the trip worked out fine. Some thing seemed to be wrong with your servers here in Philly. If the owner had not been available or not so concerned about customer service it would have been a major problem.

We loved that there was a huge variety of cars and picking up and dropping off was really easy. Way better than dealing with counters at the rental places. The vehicle was very clean and fueled up ready to go. I will be using Turo for all my rental needs going forward.

Recently, a Turo trip was cancelled by the host of a car because my flight was cancelled and rescheduled. I was unable to reschedule a new car on such short notice due to the unavailability of Turo credit. I will no longer use Turo going forward. I will use Avis next time because they can handle flight cancellations much better.

Our host was easy to reach and was very hospitable. The car was in great condition, was as described, and we much enjoyed driving it. The pickup and drop off process was very easy. We would highly recommend! We were able to drive a convertible around the Hawaiian islands for the same price that we would have paid for an economy car with a rental car company!

This was the easiest process to get a rental car effortlessly. I didn’t have to wait in long rental car lines and had the flexibility on pick up and drop off times. I actually had to cut my trip short due to a family emergency. It was simple and easy to do in the app and get my refund. Mina was excellent and would def rent from her again. She was very responsive and all directions were very detailed.

Very delightful sporty car with the option of economical fuel map for going in traffic or city driving then switch to sport and enjoy the hills and twisty roads of route 1 and Trinity Road in Sonoma/St Helena area. The pick up and drop off it’s pretty much hickup free. Very Little hassle at all. Would do again and again.

We had a wonderful experience first-time experience using Turo. Our vehicle was dropped off right at the Denver airport which was extremely convenient compared to traditional rental companies. Communication was fast and easy. I would highly recommend Turo and will be using it in the future. I can't wait for this service to be available in more cities!

The car service was sensational. It smoothly drove the streets of Las Vegas. Vic provides excellent customer service and everything was perfect.
