When I returned the vehicle it was on a full tank and the vehicle was clean and the person I rented the car from said it was not full and the car was not clean. I was communicating with the person the day before drop off and the day of drop off and nobody was there to meet meet to make sure the vehicle was up to standard. I couldn’t take pics because I was trying to catch my flight. And tried to charge me a cleaning and gas fee.

I joined Turo and entered all the information correctly but apparently the system let me through even though my car was above the 130,000 miles. Someone rented my car and damaged it. They informed me that my car is above 130,000 miles when listed so they won't cover me. When asked what information I put in, they claim they don't keep that type of information. Don't rely on Turo's system to check to see if your car qualifies for their insurance. Your car needs to be below 130k miles, clean title, and no more than 12 years old. I messed up by thinking Turo's system would tell me if my car isn't eligible but instead it just let me through and now they're claiming not to cover my car even after taking their share of the profits.

The whole process from searching for a car to communicating with the owner, to pickup, driving, and returning was easy and enjoyable. I had a great host. The car was clean and ran beautifully. I could not be happier. Thank you to the developers for creating the app and this service. I highly recommend it.

From pick up to drop off I could not ask for a better experience. The car was exactly as shown, the owner was so easy to work with. The car itself was great on gas, fun to drive and roomy. Without a doubt, I would recommend this service and this owner for a fantastic experience on Nantucket.

There's something weird with the pricing through the site. I found a car and reserved etc but the billed price but was higher than the daily rate advertised and no one can reasonably explain why. The explanation I got reveals inconsistent/unclear price changes BEHIND THE SCENE. Also, the app and web site are very frustrating. Had to RESET password EVERY TIME I wanted to access the service. BEWARE WHAT YOU ARE BEING CHARGED... if you can.

My rental experience was great but my daughter's car was hit by one of your Turo owners Saturday night and you guys refuse to take responsibility. Now we have to claim this on our insurance. Probably will never rent another car from Turo because of this. Can’t trust if I have an accident you will refuse to take care of it.

First Turo trip and loved it. Curb side pick up was a huge plus. Carlos was there waiting and it took less than 60 seconds to be on my way. He even helped my wife load her bag. Car was as advertised. Great experience.

The service was great and punctual and host was easy to work with and no hassle. When I got the to picked up the vehicle the car was clean and ready to go, the same was also true when the time came to drop off the vehicle the host was there for drop off! I would recommend Turo and their services.

I rented the Tesla for a day trip to a bike ride at Sierra Nevada. The owner was great and trained me on the nuances of driving a Tesla. He was available when it came time to ask questions about charging and was quick to respond with photos. He was always pleasant and made it a great experience. It was a great way to demo a Tesla before buying one.

Sid was wonderful. Excellent customer service. Great SUV, good gas mileage and clean. He is very attentive to the customers' needs. I will rent from TURO again and refer family and friends. He inquired about our trip going and coming, wished us an enjoyable trip to the beach. The process was quick, smooth and very easy. Even returning after business hours.

I have to change my poor Turo rating to a 3-star rating. The reason why I am doing that is, that I had a few issues with guest and that happened:
- Guest returned my car very dirty and she was smoking pot in my car. I came to Turo Chat support and they resolved it in about 20 minutes. After the next 15 minutes, I've got a $250 reimbursement on my account.
For the late car return ( 1.5 hours ), I've got a half-day rate reimbursement.
I am still waiting for the gas payment, but it will come in a while automatically if the guest will not respond.
The downside is, that I waited 1 hour total on the Turo support line. The upside is, that reimbursement was made in a matter of minutes.
Tips - Always do :- Make as many photos prior to car pick up as you can. ( even odometer and gas level )
- Report any damage immediately ( no later than 24 hours )
- Use chat support
- Use dash cam in your car
Don't believe that the guest will take care of your car like you do. I do not recommend to rent out own family car.
Our 1 car was hit to back by guest and reimbursed in 1 week.
I can't give 4 or 5 stars, because your car will be probably damaged once in 5 rentals ( lightly or heavily )Turo can't guarantee the behavior of guests.

I have 3 cars on Turo. Whenever my car was damaged, TURO NEVER acts as my protector. They NEVER pay for the damages caused by the guest. STAY AWAY from that service. Recently Turo raised their commission and now it is 30%!!! They advertise, that you can make $1,000 but that is RARE! I own cars in value of $13000 each and those cars make me $22-$24 per day. That includes, of course, 200 miles daily. So do your math. No way to makemoney. You will spend on service fees, oil change, tires, etc. much more. Their claims support sucks! You can't call them, you can't send them an email. Nobody replying to text messages. Their support is the worst I ever met. Low income, High commission fees! 10/2/2019.

Agon's Toyota was perfect for our 5 day trip to Clearwater/Tampa Florida area. He was quick to respond to any questions and could not of asked for a better experience. The car was perfect because it saved us money instead of Ubering and lyfting everywhere. I Will def use the Turo app whenever I travel!

Great vehicle. Painless process and I had fun. However, for someone like me who had not used Turo before, the whole unlock car using the app was new and it would have helped if there was a video sent showing how this works. Now, having gone through the experience it seems simple, but I was a little anxious until I completed the check-in. Keep up the good work.

Upon recommendation from my 30 something kids we gave Turo a try instead of renting for our 2 week vacation. Prices were good (need to account for increase due to insurance) but totally loved that all 4 adults were approved to drive without racking on increased rates!! Our host - Jaren - was very helpful! We loved the vehicle but still needed more luggage room for the 6 of us was the only drawback. Loved the app and communication was as well!

I am very disappointed in the customer service I received today from Jian employee number **. They were not willing to help fix a situation that I was put in due to their lack of responding. Also they said the promo code sent for fallkickoff was from a third party although the email said it was from Turo and they said they only allowed it to be used by the first 1000 customers which was not noted in the email. That should have been a disclaimer. Also they would not allow me to speak to a manager and when I complained and said I want to hear this from a manager I felt as if the same lady got on and repeated what she said. The service is horrible.
The fact that the emails do not include the full information and the fact that they say coupon codes are sent from a third party so it’s not their problem although the email says it came from Turo is ridiculous. I never even used them and was so excited to try it. The whole process took forever and all I asked for was for them to take care of it in time which was 4 days so that I can utilize the promo code. I now don’t even trust renting a car from them because if this is how customer service is before I get a car, imagine how it will be when I have the car and have an emergency. Again I was really looking forward to renting with Turo as I travel a lot but they had me on the phone and online chat for over 4 hours to just tell me all this bs. My time is money and they don’t even care and it wasn’t even about the money it was about the principle.

A guest got in an accident in my vehicle. Turo refused to pay for most of the damages. They also told me they would cover all of my Uber/Lyft expenses while the car was in the shop -- and then stopped paying when the shop found more things that needed repair. Turo also refused to pay for additional damages beyond the initial quote they came up with. Despite the fact that I was making Turo money and paying them even more for insurance, I ended up losing $4k after about 6 months of renting my car out. It's possible to make money on Turo, but the risk is too high! Do not recommend using this as a way to make passive income.

The app and website were very easy to use. Email notifications were helpful. All in all it was well laid-out and organized. I had a good experience with my first car rental on there. This was a great option for family travel with wide selection of vehicle types. Our host was great with a couple recommendations in the area and accommodated our late arrival time and changing schedule on departure. I would recommend the service to anyone for business or pleasure.

Turo is the best thing you can use for renting a car. I enjoyed the BMW convertible so much that I wish I could have driven it home to keep. I was charged a late fee for being an hour late, 30 minutes of that time was spent waiting on the host to show up. How is it reasonable to pay a late fee at a value of almost half my rental cost, for me to wait on the host. Ridiculous.

I opened my account and never used it, until today 9/25/85 when I am trying to book the first time and it said that I am not eligible. I contact customer service and Paula ** asks me for so many requirements like I was actually buying a car, even for the last 7 years of driving record wt.? so the whole interaction was about me being a red flag and I had to prove something to them. It was so embarrassing the way they treated me. Like I told them before take care of 1 client before they become millions and your little app is not longer useful anymore. Good luck with that. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND ITS STAFF.

This was my first time using Turo. I am a car guy and having a fun car to drive on vacation is important to me. Turo offered cars available for rent that I have not been able to find anywhere else. With this experience, I was able to rent a 2017 BMW M3 that was clean and in fantastic shape. The price was reasonable, the process was easy, and communication from picking up the car to dropping it off was great. The car was definitely a highlight to my vacation and I plan to use Turo for my vehicle rental needs on future vacations.

We rented a 2018 Honda CRV belonging to Ben ** and it worked out great! We booked the car over 2 months beforehand on Turo’s web app, and checked in with the owner about a week before to make sure we we still on the schedule. Communication and directions from Ben about the car‘s airport location was very clear, and check-in couldn’t have been easier. On Kauai if you rent from the commercial rental fleets you basically get your choice of a Mustang/Camaro convertible, a Wrangler, an econobox or a battleship-sized SUV. But with Turo, you can usually find whatever vehicle you want—and the CRV was perfect.
Unlike the “base level” cars you get from an agency, the Honda was more nicely equipped -including a sunroof! In the back, the owner provided 2 beach chairs, umbrellas and snorkel kits. Finally the price was great! Even with the upgraded “walk away from anything that might happen” insurance, the total cost was better than the lowest commercial agencies for a comparable vehicle. Returning the car was even easier than picking it up - we just parked it at the airport and checked it in on the Turo app. I highly recommend Turo in general and their affiliated owners like Ben in particular!

Good booking process, overall like the concept. Was disappointing when picking up the car at the LAX Valet location. In multiple places Turo says "save receipt, Turo will expense up to $20 of Lyft bill". Came in for vacation a day earlier (LAX to AirBnB night before due to flight), so on pickup day I took a Lyft from AirBnb, Turo agent at Valet refused to reimburse. If I had Lyft ride to from AirBnB to LAX then LAX to Turo they would have covered... not environmental friendly, convenient, or a positive experience. If you're going to cover up to $20 ride for using Valet, then cover it, don't make hoops to jump through. Disappointing yes, but I will likely use Turo again.

The selection of unique and cool cars makes Turo a no-brainer when on vacation. The fleet rental agencies are so boring and the cars are abused I just feel bad driving them. Turo cars are several steps above and you actually enjoy driving on your trip.

Turo is a handy option to rent a vehicle of your choice. I have used Turo 3 times now and have been happy with all the vehicle owners. Turo uses people's personal vehicles. I had a cancellation due to a broken vehicle and I had to go back and rent a different one. I did not mess up my timing at all.

Website would not let me schedule a one day rental. Chat took forever and no response for days. Eventually received e-mail saying I was approved. No phone number to contact and two previous owners canceled my one day trip. Eventually had to pay extra due to process taking too long. Vehicle was greasy and windows were dirty. Rental owner made it difficult to pick up the vehicle. Agreed to drop off the owner in Corona and then at trip end he demanded gas reimbursement. Overall poor experience and the entire process was stressful.

Nice car, super convenient. Turo should really be a little more forthcoming. I got a late model Ford Fusion and it was advertised for $55/day, not a bad price except when I turned it a day later my bill was almost $400. No, did not exceed mileage or trash the car or any of that. My review is proof I'm fair. All the many "gotchas" though isn't. Renting cars from Dollar is cheaper. To be clear I'm griping about Turo being masters of the bait and switch, if you're using them to support the local business, ok, but I bet they get more than the car owner.

I have been a long term customer that of Turo for over one year. Picking up and drop off's were of no issues to me. However, when it comes to dealing with customer service, it has been a disasters! Over a year ago, you get to talk to people who spoke decent English, then things took a dive. Their CS team being replaced by offshore with STRONG accent.

Be prepared to repeat your concern (or calling reason) twice. Each phone transfer to different staff, you have to go through repeating the same info over again. Better yet, their fees has increased twice in one year which is about 50% of the actual car rental. When Corporate greed kicks in, quality of service declined and what you have gotten is their customer service (CS) ACCUSED me of being racist for I DEMAND to speak to the US team (after 9 calls) because I was sick and tired of not understanding their HEAVY ACCENT + WASTING MY TIME over something that their gave you different answers which did not help you with. Corporate greed & being racist?? Turo, what's your take on this? Now my rental has been blocked for NO apparent issue: A great driver, pay on time, return car in great condition.

The owner of the VW Passat I drove was very polite, and when I picked up the vehicle I had high hopes, given he had very positive reviews and he was very pleasant and punctual. Sadly the experience went only downhill after picking up the car. When I turned on the car multiple check lights on the dashboard were on (Tire Pressure, Light bulb out). I mentioned this to the owner and he said it was just the sensors and there is no issue with the car. I left and drove it not 10 minutes before discovering the vehicle shakes near uncontrollably over 45-50 mph, and I then felt the tire pressure light wasn't just a sensor.
I pull in the nearest auto repair and a kind gentleman checked the tire pressure and filled the tires with air which he said was desperately needed. He also pointed out to me cracks and damage to both tires on the front and rear passenger tires and told me they should be replaced as soon as possible. I call back the owner of the vehicle with concern, relay this new information and he told me it was still just a sensor and I should be fine. He mentioned that he was leaving the country that afternoon and I could not call the same number if something happens. He also told me the last person who drove it had no issue, but also admitted to me that no one else had driven the car after it was returned by the last renter. He gave me another number to call someone else in his place if something happened to the car. I felt really unsafe in this car and I made that clear, but I felt out of luck and helpless.
The rest of the week was scary. I admit this was one of the best vacation weeks of my life, but I had to change some aspects of my itinerary because I was afraid to take the car any distance on the highway. I risked it and took it to Estes Park and stayed under 40mph the whole way, but it was terrifying driving long stretches with only mountains. The fear of breaking down and being stranded in the middle of the wilderness was a frequent feeling. I'm afraid this experience has deterred me from using this app again in the future. Throughout the week I greatly wished that I was driving with a rental service where I could just return the car and get a different one.

The owner was very nice and explained to us everything we needed to know about the car. He answered all of our questions, and we returned the car the same way he gave it to us. To start the host arrived 15 minutes late and we were just outside waiting. The truck was not cleaned prior to me getting it. Inside and outside were filthy. So easy to sign up, choose the vehicle (in the price range and location), and the insurance coverage. The app is easy to use also. Excellent communication with the vehicle's owner and myself, and with Turo. When the vehicle I had chosen got into an accident, they immediately notified me and offered several vehicles with a $10 or discount. Luckily the owner had another similar vehicle and I was able to rent that one and stay with him since he had great reviews.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!!!! I have been waiting a week for a call from a representative. I went 5 days on my trip not being able to talk to someone in regards to adding an additional driver to my account. The vehicle was in good condition in the pictures and awful condition when we actually got it. The bumper was being held on my an extra large zip tie, big dent on the side, wipers barely worked (& it rained on our trip), car did not drive well at all, squealing belts, hard to accelerate, flashing tire and maintenance light.. should I go on?
As mentioned, I have been waiting for a week from a Turo representing to discuss my dissatisfaction and all they keep doing is telling me to call an outside damage claim company. I had relayed to the rep emailing me MULTIPLE times that there is no damage claim needed as these where pre-existing damages. Hasn’t even bothered trying to help any of my concerns. Worst experience ever!

Overall great experience. After checking every traditional car company around for a PHEV or BEV, I was able to finally find one (actually, several) through TURO. Marlon was patient and made sure I was comfortable driving an EV. Very good experience. Nissan Sentra was clean, good gas mileage, & good pick-up. Drop off was a little confusing. Also, I needed extra help adding pictures at the end and Roberto sent me a screen shot. It did help! I was also confused on how to end the trip. Booked Turo one time in Oregon and it was great. Second time in Connecticut, car was dirty when we got it but we didn’t complain as we were on a rather tight schedule. Then after we returned the car, the host SAT IN THE CAR and everything was fine-we both said thanks and goodbye. Then we get home and Turo says the host is asking for $75 in cleaning charges. They are now threatening to send my bill to collections. The customer service reps appear to be temporary untrained help. No follow-through or explanation. I will not use Turo again.

I have used Turo several times over since they first started to service. They have evolved a lot and provide great options at a reasonable price. I would really like Turo to ensure the accuracy of the vehicles issues prior to customer pick up. My last vehicle had an issue with the windshield wipers, cruise control, and tire pressure. The vehicle’s exterior was dirty, which was not noticeable at first because of its dark grey color and the lighting at the pick up location. The interior could have used some vacuuming and an air freshener. Turo offers competitive prices but comfortably matters heavily in my opinion. The smartphone app is buggy sometimes. Spontaneously shuts down while using.

Can’t believe I just found out about this app! Had such an amazing experience cruising around the island with my sisters at an affordable rate. Our host was wonderful as well. Rented a truck, was trying to extend it. Spent over a hour on the phone with customer service dealing with the error. Was charged a “gap fee” which was total of 2 hours for $75. The truck, insurance, and booking/trip fee for a full 24 hours was $82. Not only is that absurd mark up, I also asked if there would be additional charges. The rep said no. I call the next day and ask to speak with a manager. I was told the manager/supervisor isn’t taking calls. He will get back to me in 24 hours. Well he didn’t.

Had a renter cause all sorts of damage to my vehicle, returned it a 36 hours late, in a mess, no gas, etc. Turo took care of me on everything EXCEPT the damages. I was passed on to Turo's insurance department. It seems abundantly clear that their internal policies are delay, delay, deny, deny. Front bumper was previously damaged. Guest caused more damage. Denied. I can live with that one though the message seems to be that anything already damaged can be damaged more with no recourse. Various interior gashes and stains inside the car beyond wear and tear. Denied. I can live with that as well. I didn't document the interior well prior to rental - lesson learned. Tons of computer codes and check engine lights indicating the car had collision damage. Claim ignored.
Front wheel scuffed and tire sidewall damaged beyond repair. Denied/ignored. I purchased a new tire out of pocket. (Guest later admitted she popped the rear tire as well and replaced it - seems pretty clear that she sideswiped both wheels on a curb.) Fuel cap missing. Replaced out of pocket. Claim ignored. Several other computer codes caused by guest road rash wheels and probably bottoming out several times on pot hole. Successfully cleared and hopefully won't come back. Claim ignored. Keep in mind this is a BMW - parts and repairs not cheap.
Written from my perspective only. Others may have different experiences, but I feel it important to share with anybody considering renting their automobile out on Turo. I will say that customer service outside of the insurance department is pretty good as long as you are calling during business hours. Call at night and expect hold time of an hour. Regardless, lack of actual insurance is probably a deal breaker.

I opened an account with Turo, provided the necessary documents a few days ago, when it came time to select and book a car which I needed that evening, I was denied for no reason. Contacted customer support, which was slow to reply via chat, process took a while meanwhile I'm still waiting and needing the car I had selected. My credit report is great and so is my clean driving record except 1 accident when the other driver drove through a red light and t-boned me. 100% not my fault. So then I get an email saying that I cannot rent, and they are not obligated to give me a reason why. I could have just gone through Enterprise or Hertz and saved the trouble and time.

The best part was the ability to rent a car with a car seat and get picked up and dropped off right at the airport doors, so I didn't have to check and carry a car seat while traveling solo with my baby. This company "claims" to have an insurance policy that protects hosts from getting their cars damaged. Let me tell you something, if you want your car to get damaged and then not get it fixed, then sign up for Turo. Turo will take advantage of your car and when it gets damaged - they will not pay a single cent. They are the biggest crooks that do not honor their agreement and claim agents will go out of their way to cheat you out of repairs. They don't pay anything out, not a single cent. Avoid this company at all costs otherwise you will learn the hard way when a renter destroys and ruins you vehicle.
Basically when l attempted to get my vehicle fixed, they basically said "** you" in not so many words and they will also use legal warfare to pull the wool over your eyes - bottom line you won't get a single dime from them at all! My vehicle needs to be fixed and repaired and this criminal company will not do anything to resolve the issue. Unless my car gets fixed l will be telling every single potential host not sign up with this company as they do not honor their end of the deal. Be careful of these so-called startups - crooks.

Although it is technically a rental it feels more like being entrusted with a vehicle by a friend. All of the usual annoyances are removed—going to the airport, standing at that counter, signing your life away. It is the wave of the future. I do not anticipate using conventional rental anytime in the near future. I am now hooked on TESLA! Could not find an FPace Jag or another luxury rental for the weekend. I had a great experience using Turo for the first time in Fort Lauderdale, Fl over Labor Day weekend. I rented a Porsche Boxster Convertible and it was amazing! I always rent a convertible when I visit Florida however I normally fly in to PBI and this trip had me going in to FLL and the only convertibles available at the regular car rental places were Ford Mustangs, I’m not a fan and I googled luxury convertible rental and found Turo. The gentleman that owns my car was super easy to work with and we stayed in constant communication due to the incoming storm Dorian. Even when I had to be evacuated from my hotel and the airlines could only get me out of Florida thru Miami, he was very flexible and allowed me to drop it off there instead. Overall experience was amazing and I will definitely be using Turo again!

I was in Arizona to bring my daughter to school so I was looking for a cheaper rental than the normal rental companies that are at the airport. I discovered Turo! I picked up the car at the airport parking lot. There was a free shuttle and it was a seamless pickup. Everything was as promised! I'm definitely using Turo again.

The Customer services was super rude and unprofessional. They called me this afternoon asking about what happened during my car rental experience. I explained to him exactly what happened and he became rude and impatient. He asked me to pay for the toll fee incurred and demanded me to pay for the gas for $20 (which should be covered by the trip host). In return, I asked him to show me the receipt of the host adding gas, as well as the written documents stating how much I need to pay for the toll fee. The Customer services guy responded by telling me that "you are making the trouble by not paying the fee". And he spoke to me with the attitude saying "you not able to understand the rental agreement". This was the worst customer service representative I've even met. I will NEVER use Turo.com again.

Had a great experience renting with Turo. The pickup and return process was very easy and the app makes communication with the vehicle owner stress-free. I really like that Turo’s system allows for a wide range of prices so that you can choose one that fits your budget. The only small hiccup I had was a slight difficulty uploading photos - which I was able to resolve once I got in WiFi.

Pickup was late... returned early and host wanted me to not report I turned it in early. Asked for refund... host said no... and Turo customer service did nothing to help resolve about the refund. Customer service rep only repeated what I would say but never resolved my request for my refund... even though on app when I put my early return... it was giving me a refund.

Everyone at Turo was great. I was super happy with the price. Very quick and easy to pick up at the Turo lot. However, not happy with my rental car. The headlight was out my entire trip. The only options to fix it was to pay $70-$150 to get it fixed and maybe get reimbursed AFTER my trip or return the car which was not an option. Not happy with the host. But overall I was very pleased with my experience with Turo.

I have rented before and had much better experiences...Rented an SUV to take my kid back to college, I had to switch out do to mechanical issues, her class schedule dictated I agree to change to a luxury SUV. (66.00 1/2 tank to fill up) Space was smaller, had to leave some stuff. *Charged an EXTRA 146.00 in overages driving back and forth to buckhead to pick-up the fancy car. THEN Turo proceeds to send harassing e-mails for 10 days AFTER I paid the overage. A trip that used to cost me 150.00, cost me almost 400.00. NEVER AGAIN.

This is my 3rd time using Turo and the 3rd time I got a car that needed service or had a service light on. The service light came on and said 800 miles past service and beeped the whole time while driving. I want to request to be a Turo secret shopper so I can test cars daily to see if hosts are keeping up with their car services and keeping other drivers safe at the same time.

I have to begin by saying that I am an IT professional and a car enthusiast, so I use lots of mobile apps (both professionally and personally) and I love to research and drive cars. As such I have a couple of comments on my Turo experiences that reflect both perspectives. Turo Mobil App – I think the app is great, from searching and selecting vehicles to the rental process, getting extras and insurance, check in/check out, recording damage and host communications. The app is very well designed from an end-user experience perspective. Many apps I use are designed to present functions and processes in the way the company sees them which can differ from how end-users what to use them, so well done there. I do have a couple of thoughts that may improve the user experience:
1. Car search – I would like to see a filter selection that allows users to search for cars that are offered through Turo in a selected area regardless of availability within a specific date range. Right now you are only returning cars that can be rented within a specified timeframe (the normal use-case), but I would also like to see a list of all cars and then their availability as a secondary search, in a similar way that hotels show their availability. As an enthusiast this would allow me to make plans that work around the availability of specific vehicles I’m interested in experiencing. Turo is a service that differentiates itself by offering unique vehicles and I think this additional search feature would demonstrate your support of car enthusiasts. Also, the option to show future availability could be offered through the regular search use-case.
2. Car pictures – I’m not sure if you can figure out the quality of quantity of vehicle pictures using AI but many of the hosts post terrible pictures.
Disclosure of Telematic devices – I understand that telematics can provide important data in the case of an accident or vehicle loss, however as you have a policy that requires the host to disclose the use of a webcam I think you should also have a policy that requires the host to disclose the use of a telematics device under the following conditions:
1. If the device is going to provide real-time verbal feedback on driver performance.2. If data from the device will be used by the host to influence and evaluate the renter's overall rating.
My most recent car rental experience had both of these conditions and it was not disclosed to me at all. I was therefore surprised and very distracted when the device started telling me to ‘go steady’, and that I had received a ‘warning’ and then a ‘penalty’. I had no idea of the conditions or parameters by which the device was determining that my driving performance wasn’t ‘ok’.
After the first rental day I contacted the host through the app who only then disclosed that the vehicle had an active telematics device. The vehicle I rented was a minivan which was full of people and luggage so there was no spirited driving involved. At one point I was accelerating to merge onto a motorway and the telematics device said I had ‘received a penalty’. I’m guessing it believed my acceleration was unsafe or unwarranted, but it obviously didn’t know the context of the road on which I was accelerating. This lack of context omits important information the host needs to correctly evaluate a person’s driving performance. e.g. Perhaps a period of rapid acceleration was to avoid an accident.
In response to my query the host told me my driving was fine and I should just ignore the verbal warnings, however this ruined my otherwise great experience with the car. I think Turo should evaluate its legal position on this topic and specifically on lack of upfront disclosure. E.g. What if a renter is provided a poor rating by a host based on insufficient information from the telematics device that results in limiting their ability to rent future vehicles. I think the lack of upfront disclosure may put Turo on shaky legal ground and perhaps result in a loss a customer. BTW, my host was great in every way and I gave him a 5 star rating. I have recommended several of my friends to Turo and I support your disruption of the car rental industry so I hope you take my feedback as supporting your goals.

Booking was easy, communication was excellent! Pick up and drop up (I look for free airport pick up and drop off) - makes it so much easier than going to the rental counter. My experience was the owner dropped the car off in short term parking and emailed me, then when I returned I did the same. The keys and parking ticket were in the car. My only negative is mileage restriction (free) -you are restricted to so many miles then afterwards its pretty high OR you can pay for unrestricted at $35 A DAY!... When I need miles I book through a rental. Otherwise I am a repeat customer.

I already left this review regarding Turo at the time I reviewed the host and car, but I was highly offended by Turo throughout this process. After I spent almost 2 weeks complying with Turo by providing multiple photos, IDs, and personal info, Turo continued to ask me for more info and docs without properly following up with me. Finally, when I think I'm now cleared to reserve a car and my host confirms my trip, then I show up to get the car and I'm further scrutinized by the parking attendant that was not the host, like I was some kind of walk-in who didn't just go through 2 weeks of scrutiny. When I asked the parking attendant about the nature of his questions, he showed me on his phone that Turo "flagged" me and labeled me a "risk" without providing a reason why. I asked the Parking Attendant if the flag could be because I was a first time Turo renter and he said that shouldn't have anything to do with it. This highly offended me.
I have highly cleared positions and I would never do anything to someone's property that would cost me my career and reputation. I was very forthright in complying with Turo's terms and yet, I was stilled "flagged" for unknown reasons. I wonder if any other guest had to experience this and why me? If Turo could provide some insight on this, I would love to hear it because if I think about it long enough and start to feel that I was singled out for some reason, I would never use Turo again and would suggest to others not to use it either.

We have 7 people in our Family. The car fit between all of us. We arrived at the airport and the car was waiting for us as expected. We knew the trunk wouldn’t be enough for 9 luggages, so we prepared ourselves with some cargo ratchet stripes to tie it down on top of the car. It worked perfectly!! The car was reliable without any trouble at all. Overall, we are happy with our decision to rent this SUV. Nathan is responsive and easy to communicate. We recommend this car to anyone!

Very horrible service. They are a scam and will take your money without your authorization. I did not purchase protection plan and someone emailed me saying they went into my account and changed my boyfriend from the primary driver and made me the primary driver. I believe whoever did that also added protection plan and charged me $162 that I did not authorize. I contacted Turo and sent them images. They still gave me no refund. Scam. I don’t like how someone can log into my account on their end and change things.

Was charged a smoking fee after full inspection and checkout. Made sure he got an all-star rating then sent me a bill for $250 talking about smoke. It's a 100k car with suede and leather interior. No one smoked a thing in that car. It was a sneaky way of added cost to rentals... not fair to customers, especially after checkout.

Pick-up/Drop-off. This transition went extremely well. No hassles, no problems whatsoever. John, our host, was very nice and would make himself available if we encountered any problems. The vehicle ran well. We had more than enough room for our luggage and it was pretty comfortable. It wasn't too bad on fuel either. I would definitely recommend John to anyone planning on a trip to Hawaii. Traveling around the island couldn't have been any easier. First time customer. Rented a car. Was notified the night before leaving on my trip that the car had been in an accident and would not be available. (Stuff happens) The host did not have an alternate car so was left to contact Turo for rebooking. I did and I ended up with a higher priced vehicle which they gave a credit for the extra to book that car. Then that host said his car could not be delivered to the airport which was what I needed. So the second car was cancelled and another car was searched for. This one too was booked. Again this was a higher priced rental. They agreed to a small modification in pricing, but again it could not be delivered to the airport. Called Turo again, and they helped me find another fourth car. This time Turo stated that they would not be able to help me again.
This car was booked (without confirmation) at 12:30 a.m. the morning I was to leave for my trip at 2:30 a.m. Found out between flights that this car also could not be delivered to the airport. So the company cancelled this booking as well. Now I am at my destination airport with no car. I called them again and they said I would have to rebook the car, but they would not help me on the phone, I had to use the app. I did, but it will not allow you to book the car for the same day, so had to straighten that out. Then during the trip got a notice from the host that said the trip was booked for 7 days instead of five like it should have been, and had to straighten that out. In the host's credit, they were extremely good to work with and patient with my inexperience. However this rating is not about them but about the company.
When I got ready to drop the car off, the app kept crashing, and would not let me check out properly. Finally had to quit messing with it and check in to the airport. Again gracious and helpful hosts, but zero company support. Called support again, and they said I would have to check out through the website, but was unable to do that from the airport, and they said to take care of that when I got home. I think I might have had a really great vacation if only I had not had such hassles trying to rent the car. Again the people I rented from were fantastic, but it looks to me like Turo is limiting them. Too bad.
