    The vehicle did get me from point a to point b, but for the price, this car should have been no more than $20 per day. The vehicle has cosmetic damage on the rear bumper. There was a safety issue with the driver's side mirror being cracked. The front of the vehicle look liked a piece was missing. The brakes grinded. This vehicle odometer may say 50k miles, but it felt like a vehicle with 150k miles on it. Lastly, the car wasn't washed or vacuumed. Had therr been more options available in the area, I would have probably had Turo cancel the trip.

    I think you need to come up with a better dispute system… Tolls… People who don’t have Sunpass in their cars should not be able to charge above regular toll prices. Please find a way to be more responsive to customers.

    The car hosted by Turo was unfit to drive on road. We had to constantly keep an eye on heat meter as it was way too high. Car made so much noise, the experience just got worse when I complained about the event and Turo didn’t bother to respond. I had to follow up and push the case multiple times and finally Turo claims department valued my life with their $50 credit for this devastating experience. Worst experience booking and claiming with Turo.

    SCANDAL!!! After an engine problem (coolant leak so we cannot be responsible) we had the vehicle towed by Turo (more than 20 hours of waiting). We have to go home on our own. Then we learn that the owner accuses us of scratches that we could not have done. Our supporting video is supposedly not acceptable because the car is wet! As if the huge traces of scratches cannot be seen in the rain!!! The owner himself has it repaired for $1,800 and is quickly reimbursed by turo and Turo is now asking us $ 1,800. Sounds like a bad joke. After dozens of emails and calls, Turo still refuses all of our evidence and explanations. We still do not know how to comment will manage.... IT'S A SHAME!!! If you don't have any problem, that's the slightest problem, YOU GET **!!! Even after taking out insurance! DON'T EVEN THINK OF RENT WITH THEM.

    They’ll lie to you and anything else to get you to pay their INFLATED fees then leave you stranded! We were taken advantage of by a seller who wanted new tires, they canceled our insurance on the car & charged us double what they’ll cost and closed the amount until we paid it. We then paid it after personally getting confirmation that our account we gain full access again after payment and they closed the account soon as we paid. Nobody can be trusted, they’re all pawns used to lie to you for a single person behind a computer to screw anyone who expects fairness. I wouldn’t recommend them if it was FREE.

    This was my first and possibly last Turo trip. The car was not at the address listed. No big deal, I’ll reach out to the host. Upon contacting him, he just kept listing the same bad address then I called and he couldn’t describe the lot or give me directions or know any other streets around. I majored in cartography in college. I am a native Los Angelino. I can read a map. I have worked as a taxi driver. I don’t get lost very easily. It became painfully clear the host had never seen and possibly never set foot in the dirt of LA. For sure he lived in another city (probably another country as the delay and beeps heard in the call were reminiscent of international calls I’ve had in the past). This host owns several cars and this was his business.

    Things got worse as I’m in the worst part of downtown LA. IT'S GETTING DARK AND MY PHONE IS DYING. The car I was to rent was 5 blocks away from the listed address and the lack of any direction or description from said host made things worse. So Much worse when I get there and it’s a scary lot with barbed wire, guard dogs and a crappy Winnebago and a trash tire fire. I swear to God I’m Not making this up. The gate is locked. It is 8:05 pm and now I can’t get my car and the lot attendant is drunk in the Winnebago and won’t come out.

    Things get worse after I call support. I tell them I am In fear of being mugged or attacked. The young lady on the phone I tell her repeatedly my Phone is going to die and she takes down all my info and promises me a refund then it happens - my phone dies. And I’m on Los Angeles street and Maple near the 60/110 Freeways, the train tracks and River and burnt out buildings as far as the eye can see. It’s a bad scene. I walk a mile and there is a gas station but no one will let me charge my phone. I offer money and cold shouldered. I then walk another mile and find a 7-11 and bribe them $5 for 5 minutes to charge my phone

    So I call Turo back multiple times and as I scroll the phone keeps hanging up.

    Every person I talk to in Turo has no history of my plight. Worse I still need a car and the app thinks I’m still on the initial ride - yeah the car I initially booked, was given the wrong address to, and was further f misinformed by the shady host himself as he gave me the wrong directions and lied to me about his associate being at the address to help me. That sketchy and locked parking lot didn’t even have pavement. It was dirt and trash and a Winnebago with trash can fires. Needles everywhere.

    So I am talking to the latest Turo associate in the phone and she tells me she can’t get me another car because I booked the app until 10am. It’s now midnight. She tells Me I have to reach out to The shady host and ask him to end the ride. It’s now late snd he is presumably asleep. Although it’s probably 10 am in Moscow. Lolol. So I have no refund, no car, I’m Cold and completely vulnerable. I booked the car for pick up 6:30 pm. It’s now 3 am the next day and Turo is telling me I can’t have a refund or get a car because they don’t know how to override a previous booking regardless of It ever happening.

    Turo so far has proven to be completely incompetent and the car and host were soooo awful I’m surprised the company is still in business. Turo has offered me nothing and I haven't even been emailed regarding the expectant refund. I am Completely hurt, disappointed and angry that this company can get away with this customer Service, this policy and no accountability. I told them I was in danger and no one and nothing was done. In fact they made it harder for me as I couldn’t book a ride after this. The second the associate heard my Situation. They should have found the nearest car and comped it period. Shame on you Turo, the absolute worst rideshare experience I’ve ever had.

    On Sept 5, 2021, I rented a car from your app after arriving to LAX. Shortly after, I was stopped by 5 Beverly Hills cop cars not knowing why. I rolled down my window and the cop demanded me, my mother, and my aunt to exit the vehicle with our hands up IMMEDIATELY. The cop demanded me to sit on the curb with my hands up while they were doing some investigation. Following that, it was apparent that the owner of your Turo vehicle (Deontae) is under an open investigation regarding a sexual assault case. About an hour and a half later, we were told by the Beverly Hills cops that this case is being transferred to the L.A.P.D. and that our Turo rental will be impounded.

    My mother, my aunt, and myself were in the blistering heat for an hour and a half WHILE being humiliated/embarrassed by the passing traffic and pedestrians. We were stranded with our luggage and my aunt suffers from asthma. Luckily, I had a friend to come pick us up after we were told that our Turo will be impounded, which inconvenienced her. You guys should have done some thorough background checks on your renters, which you failed to do. This is a huge safety and a LEGAL liability concern that should NOT have happened.

    I have received multiple calls and text messages from the felon's family member. The fact they have my information makes me feel unsafe and sick to my stomach. As discussed over the phone (*CALLS ARE RECORDED FOR QUALITY PURPOSES) on Sept 5 with you and your other employees, I expected a 100% refund and my current car (red Hyundai Sonata) rental to be complimentary. After this horrible incident, Maria Cielo ** credited me a messily $35 from this experience which is very insulting. I have initiated a credit card dispute for the full amount of $598.75, since the customer service follow through has been horrendous. I’ve sent many emails and haven’t heard back from anyone. No one has made an effort to make this right. I’m also going to write multiple social media post about Turo and I am contacting my attorney on Monday.

    We had a smooth and easy experience renting a TURO car at the Denver airport. The host was extremely quick to reply in all cases, before, during, and after our trip. Our experience was much better than taking the long shuttle ride from the airport to all the offsite traditional car rental companies. We usually rent through Costco (so we can have free additional driver) but this was about half the price and we are both approved drivers. The car was ready and waiting in airport parking with key in a lockbox. Only issue we had was AC did not work well enough for some of the hot days. Host offered our money back for those days (more than generous) and will get it fixed right away. It is also easier to stay off the toll roads from the airport compared to the offsite car rentals. We appreciate TURO service and will be using them again soon.

    The car's hosts are great. Turo the company itself Recertified my account after being a loyal customer since 2017. Then started charging me double the price that the host charges to rent a car. The host has no idea why Turo has taxed on so much money because they are only receiving a tiny portion of it. Turo use to be a good way to rent a car, but now they have done way too much with the price increase and it’s not even the host of the car. It is literally Turo taxing on all this money. It’s insane.

    My family and I wasted over 9 hours, and over $200 on Turo. The host posted an inaccurate listing. The car had ants, the steering wheel buttons didn’t work, it needed an oil change, the check engine light was out, AND the transmission wasn’t working - the car would not change gears. The other concerns were not major to us, but once we noticed the car would not change gears, we turned around. Although we were 2 hours into our trip we could not risk using this car for the duration of our trip as there was no promise it would last that long, and it was unsafe. Turo has no system in place to check the accuracy of listings, and hosts post unsafe vehicles just to make a quick buck.

    We spent hours waiting for Turo customer service, a towing service and for the host to respond before just making the decision to return the car to its host. Turo and host did not refund us our money, compensate us for our time, and charged us additional fees for gas and another booking.. although the lack of gas in the car AND is needed another book was due to the original one not being accurate. The host has fake 5 star reviews and outdated photos on his listing.

    Car was broken when we picked it up. Spoke to host who told us to keep driving it. It was in limp mode and would not shift correctly. Kept rebooting it to clear error messages but after a few days, it left us stranded 2.5 hours from where we picked it up. Had pay extra to get a one way rental from a national car rental chain. Requested a refund for our trouble and it was denied. I will never rent from Turo again. What a waste of money!

    Too many cancelations! I recently had taken a vacation (west cost) reserved the cars via TURO (in Sacramento, Denver, Seattle), Turo App ask the renters to send a text to car owner to confirm the reservations, and if the car owner not replying to your text/request. Turo does not have a way to force the reply from the car owners.

    And when I called TURO to inform them that my reservation has not confirmed or replied after three or four text to the car owner. The TURO representative asked me for some of the info like my name, phone number, email address, date and place/city of reservation, etc. which I could confirm while I was driving, after she confirmed all the above mentioned info, she asked me for confirmation number which I did not have and I did not wanted to pick up my phone and look for that email while I was driving. "SHE forced me to look at my confirmation number." I felt so unsafe and I even told her that I am on freeway, I don't want to do that. She did not care and wanted me to look at the phone to give her confirmation number while I was driving. I would NEVER rent from TURO again, nor I would ever recommend them to anyone! Aziz

    It would be nice if the cars were in better condition. I rented a car that had a rust hole on driver side door. Take more pride like it was when Turo 1st began. Now people are renting cars for amounts that the cars are in terrible condition. And then the hosts threaten you to give them a 5 star review. Not cool.

    I do believe that someday Turo will get it right. This is similar to the Airbnb system but not as strictly enforced. We rented a car for a recent trip to Rhode Island. It looked fantastic. Even though our (lizard) car insurance didn't cover personal car loaners like Turo, the additional $400 plus for insurance (through Turo) still made a Turo rental cheaper. The biggest concern for me was that they are someone's personal car that can change in a instant. I believe if you are renting from a car rental company that they would want residual business and accommodate your needs. Well the worst thing that could of happened did. At the last minute the owner of the car cancelled our rental. We thought about trying a different owner/car rental but the "fool me once..." thing kept popping up in my mind. We dropped the idea knowing that someday it will be a good system but just not yet.

    Host cancelled my reservation with virtually no notice leaving me stranded at the airport. The host's only proposed "solution" was to "try Uber or Lyft". The only "solution" offered by Turo customer support was a replacement booking at nearly double the cost of my original reservation. It seems like most people have an okay experience with Turo, but I see plenty of reviews from other customers who had a similar experience to mine. If something with your rental goes sideways, Turo will leave you holding the bag. Beware.

    It had been a couple of years since I last used Turo and this time was not as smooth as before. Having to send my DL and picture before I was "approved" was upsetting since I didn't know that this was a requirement. Sending this information to someone that I don't know made me very unsettled.     I booked a car with 7 seats to pick up my friend and his wife and 2 kids and 6 luggage at 7am. I booked it a month in advance to make sure I have it ready. On the day before the booking at 11 pm I got a call that this car is not available. I could not find any other 7 seaters on that day as it was very short notice. I booked a smaller car and had many trouble of going the trip back and forth and I called other friend to help us out.     I have been with Turo for almost 2 years and one of the top rated all star host. I had invested a lot of money and time with them by putting new cars and following every detailed terms and conditions. They always cheat on you when it comes to paying you plus traffic tickets plus cleaning cost etc. When you try to reason with them they simply block your account without ANY explanation. No manager to speak to, all the customers rep with very thick accents. Worst part is if your car ever gets into an accident by the guest, even you are not at fault you are totally bankcorrupt. If they feel you are demanding an explanation from them they simple block your account and kick your account. You can't even access your money for that week etc. In short I highly DO NOT recommend hosting your cars on Turo platform as it's a total high risk of your investment with very little or no profit end of the day.     I rented a Range Rover. I paid the extra for pick up and drop to TF Green Airport area. On the morning of the 5th day, the rear passenger window slipped the track, and fell straight down into the door. Neither the host nor Turo responded in real time. The host responded 3hours later, and Turo responded the next day. Neither would engage in a phone conversation. Both used the app as a buffer. The host offered to return the car early via the app. I could not return the Vehicle via the app, so the host said that she would return it for me, and had me park the Vehicle where she worked.

    After a week of emailing Turo back and forth, they said the host said I kept it for the duration of the rental and kept the money because of damage that I had caused. Total scam. It's a British car. They break all by themselves. No more Turo for this man. Terrible communication practices. Horrible customer service. They will never speak with you directly. Imagine trying to resolve an issue with one email per day, where the customer rep keeps getting the details wrong! Sheeesh! I wouldn't even know where to start with a small claim. Do NOT use Turo!

    On August 2nd, 2021 I was charged $1106 for damages I did not do. Turo's investigators lack the expertise to conduct a proper investigation. I am not sure if this is sloppiness from the company or just a plain scam to charge renters for damages we did not commit. After reading complaints on the BBB website, I realized, I am not the first person with this same issue. Here is why I am suspicious about this company.

    I submitted a picture of the alleged damage on July 16th (day I picked up the car). Turo completely dismissed this evidence and proceeded to charge me $1106 for this damage. After a lengthy and frustrating back and forth with poorly trained staff, I received an email acknowledging the evidence I submitted and dismissing the charges. They did not specify how I will receive these funds back, instead, they announced an additional charge of $731 for "additional repairs that are needed". They claimed these new charges are hidden charges that mechanics find while repairing the vehicle. If I am being dismissed for the previous damages, why do I need to pay for these new hidden damages caused by the original damage? They do not list or provide an explanation of the new damages (After reading other BBB reviews, I realized this is something other people have issues with too) and proceeded to warn that I will be charged in 24hours.

    I am highly suspicious of this company. They are not doing things logically and won't provide you with proper customer service. They make you go in circles to get your case resolved. When you call they will always escalate your case, however, nothing is properly resolved. They refer you to communicate via email, but you get a response from a different agent every time with an unlogic response. When I was on the phone, and I asked to speak with a supervisor, they said supervisors contact customers in 7 business days. I made a request and I never received a phone call from a supervisor.

    I made a reservation several months ago with Turo for a car in Baltimore Maryland. Last week I double checked with the owner to make sure everything was still ready to go. Yesterday I woke up to find that Turo had canceled the reservation only four days before my trip with no notification to me. No email, no text message, no phone calls, no nothing.     I would NEVER recommend this site. Not only did our car get cancelled at the very last minute, but trying to even contact Turo is impossible. I finally had to do a "chat" online - which kept disappearing, and was pretty much just a animated computer. I never found a replacement, and never got an answer on my refund. The only thing I was told is that that host will get a $25 fine. Big deal! Doesn't help me when I am needing a vehicle and have to rent from a RELIABLE agency at the last minute and pay top dollar.     I used Turo for the first time this month (8/2021). I had a bad experience. The car I got was newly painted (blue), old Toyota with 122,000 miles on it. The seat was dirty. The gas mileages was poor. It was so bad, that I was out of the gas on California Highway, and I had to call GEICO road service. The car's exterior fallen down during my driving.     I wanted a 20 day car rental. I saw a vehicle on Turo for $41 per day, which would be $820. Before I was given the final price with fees, I had to provide them with address, birth date, driver's license number, credit card number, cell phone number and a picture. After all the time to do that I finally get the real price, which with fees was $1,025, which is 25% above the price listed on the site. This is an unreasonable amount of fees and it was unfair and deceptive to obtain all of my information before giving me the true price of the rental. I would not trust them to ever do the right thing. The $41 per day price was a bait and switch.

    I had my first experience with Turo this past weekend. When I went to pickup the car, the host was not there for me to ask any questions on the 2011 Nissan Maxima, instead I had to get the keys from a coworker. Upon turning the car on there were lights on the dashboard (traction control and no air bags). Not knowing if this was faulty since there was no host and I had to get on the road I proceeded with the trip.

    About an hour into the trip water from the air conditioning started leaking into the footwells to the point where if you stomped your foot you could visibly see splashing. On the way back from the trip, low tire pressure notifications kept popping up from a cracked rim every hour after refilling with air. Eventually, I was stuck in the middle of nowhere in Ohio far away from tire shops and civilization to get this issue fixed. There was no towing nearby, and this cracked rim issue caused a delay of 5 hours in the trip. It turns out the rim was an awkward size and different local tire shops would need a replacement order that wouldn't come for a couple of days.

    What I ended up having to do is go to a local welder and WELD the rim back shut, then proceed to get a new tire as well since the cracked rim was ripping up the tires inside. Once the wheel was repaired, the stability control light had gotten turned off, meaning the car was given with a wheel that was causing the light to turn on in the first place. This 5 hour delay in the trip caused me to have to take an additional day off of work as well as push the "return date" for the car (an additional item I was charged). Eventually I made it back home to NJ and dropped off the car (once again the host was not here for the drop off).

    Thinking at the bare minimum it would be reasonable for Turo to refund the unexpected costs due to the unsafe car they rented me, I reached out to Customer Support multiple times on the matter. Their response is that the refund is up to the discretion of the host, who clearly wasn't acting in good faith since the beginning of my trip. So why would he refund me in the first place? This is a situation Turo needs to take into their own hands and they are refusing to do so.

    I am extremely concerned that they are ok with this car continuing to be listed on their site due to the level of seriousness they took my inquiry - they gave me a $50 credit to use on my next Turo trip thinking that would resolve the matter. The responses were also copied and pasted canned statements, with broken english sprinkled in (they refuse to get on the phone with you, they only let you talk to them through chat and email). That credit is going to go to waste, and I highly recommend anyone reading this to stick with a proper Enterprise, Avis, anyone else who takes full ownership of the maintenance policies they have in place.

    Although the host and his car were amazing your roadside assistance and customer service team is trash. Not only did they dispatch for the wrong reason the first time (which I had to wait an hour for) & that service person said “I only do tire changes not tows. Call dispatch again”. So I had to call dispatch again and that Turo team member was helpful but then said it would be another hour and a half, with no way to expedite service despite your first Turo team member being the cause of the miscommunication and having to call again.

    Not only did I have to spend another hour and a half waiting for the tow truck but they extended my wait time by another hour and when I called to ask they said it will be just another 30 minutes. But all they did was adjust the ETA on the tracker and froze it so I ended up still waiting another hour and then some. I know you have no control over tow trucks however it would’ve been avoided if your first employee labeled the dispatch correctly.

    Secondly, when I called again for a dispatch your Turo employee said it would be covered. I see on the terms page about the fee. But how can you say me getting a nail from the interstate in the tire was my fault. I didn’t put the nail there and I wasn’t driving recklessly to cause damage to the tire. None of it was intentional. It was a pure accident. Your team caused me to lose a whole day of my vacation and I had to pay to Uber while the car was in the shop. Since your team decided it was "at fault" for an accidental nail in the tire which is a common occurrence for most drivers, renting from your app has cost me double what the actual rental cost because of towing, tire, and Ubers. Again I lost an entire day of my vacation because of your team and you expect me to shell out even more money to you.

    Thirdly, communicating about this incident, your team has proven further they do not care and have been awful. Since the afternoon of the day I turned it in both the host and I have been getting messages saying “Sorry for your battery issue”. I NEVER reported any issues with the battery. We reported this was false but every time I continue to contact your team via email they keep saying something about the battery. The battery was never mentioned. I have been asking to speak to a manager or a higher up of the customer service team because anyone who has responded to me so far has been clueless and unhelpful. No manager has yet to contact me.

    I will absolutely not recommend this app to anyone and never use it again, it is a rip off and I'd rather rent from the big companies. Very disappointed in this app and any and all reviews will definitely reflect that. Based off the absolutely atrocious customer service and experience I’ve had with your company I highly doubt anything will come of this.

    I first booked a vehicle for this trip well in advance. I had many choices and found the perfect van for our needs. Six or eight weeks before our trip the owner of the van reached out to me and said they decided not to rent their van this summer and asked me to cancel to avoid a penalty from Turo. I cancelled and book a suburban which did the job but not as well and cost me twice as much since there were limited options at that point.

    A couple days before our trip the owner of the suburban reached out and said the A/C had broke in her suburban. The owner did what she could to make it right including dropping the vehicle off and picking it up from the airport. I look and could not find anything that would work for us for less than $4000. We had no choice but to go with no A/C for our 9 day drive around California which included a few days that were over 100 degrees. In the future I will book these long, planned in advance trips with a traditional car rental company who has options when there is a mechanical failure. I would only use Turo for last minute rentals.

The "Host" told me he preferred to text instead of use the Turo message system, which I now realize is so his conversation couldn't be tracked. 20 days before my trip he messaged me that the vehicle was totaled and I would need to cancel the trip. He was extremely rude. I looked up the policy on Turo and the host is the one that needs to cancel. It would have affected my ability to rebook. Turo helped me to get him to cancel so I could get a refund. You can only review trips successfully completed, so there is no way to review this condescending "Host" that has drastically increased the price of my vacation by needing a last minute rental. I will never book with Turo again because they don't hold their "Hosts" accountable for last minute cancelations or rude condescending behavior to their customers.

    I tried Turo for the first time to book a trip from host West Coast Luxury Rentals LLC and the commercial host took 3 days to get back to me after booking and paying for trip. Flag #1 but I stayed the course they finally got back to me and said since they are a commercial host I had extra fees to pay so I did on a separate sent invoice from host that was flag #2. I called and never got to reach anyone at all not even a voicemail so that was flag#3. I cancelled my trip thru Turo got that money back but never the other fees from outside invoice.

    This is suppose to be a legit rental company and they kept my money over $1k and my trip was booked well over a month in advance. To boot Turo said the only thing that can be done is to talk to your host but when no one answers any phones or emails how is that possible. Turo and the commercial host West Coast Luxury rentals both a thieves and please be careful dealing with Turo and some host. I have proof to back up any and everything if anyone needs or has any questions.

    I've had great experience with Turo in the past and the hosts have been very cooperative for the most part. Few concerns I'd like to point out.

    1. Turo used to have a referral program. I used to be able to send friends a link and they would register and when used, they would get a 1st time discount and I would get a $25 credit but that's not available anymore.

    2. This happened couple times with one in the past where I was charged for the rental before the host would accept or or cancel and then once they cancelled, I had to wait for few days before the money was returned back into my account. Suggestion. Only charge renter once the host accepts and confirms the rental time requested.

    3. I rented a car aug 1st-5th but needed till the 19th and someone else was renting for just 2 days so I had to find another car. Luckily I did and currently renting from Monique and she is awesome. But both of these rental pickups and drop off is over 55 miles away each way from where I'm located. There should be some kind of benefit/service from turo if I'm renting for this long and have to get a ride this far each way for pick up and drop off.

    4. Just a thought, it would be great incentive to have a point accruing system for renting through turo so the more trips/days rented, the more points and can get:

    Percentage off next rental, Merchandise/gifts claimed, Gift cards/vouchers redeemed, Gas cards.

    I rented a car through Turo for the first time. I declined the insurance coverage since I have very good insurance on my own auto. However, over the course of my 10 day rental one of the tires started to go low on air. I proceeded to go to a service station and add air to the tire. After the rental was over, the owner claimed I did damage to the tire (even though she stated that the tire was fully worn in a text message). Turo refused to acknowledge that the tire was worn prior to my rental and insisted I pay $1000 for repairs to a tire that was well worn prior to my rental. They completely disregarded common sense and sided fully with the car owner in spite of plenty of evidence to the alternative.

    A renter should NEVER be responsible for routine maintenance of a vehicle. If you choose to rent with them, be prepared to pay for all oil changes, tire replacements, brake repairs, headlight/taillight replacements and so forth. You will be absolutely responsible for ANY failure that occurs while the car is in your possession. IMO, just stay away from them.

    Such a bad experience with Turo. The car smelled badly of cigarette smoke, had stains all over the seats, and was filthy. Would have cancelled but by then no rental cars were available and I had already Ubered to the pick up location. Ended up detailing the car myself at a nearby car wash and buying seat covers. The stench never truly went away though.

    To top it off, the host gave me a negative, retaliatory review despite that I had taken very good care of his car (better than him) and had gone above and beyond as a renter. Instead, he only mentioned that he didn't want renters who would leave a bad (aka honest) review. Obviously a preemptive attempt to cancel my review. Lastly, Turo customer service was completely derelict in their duty essentially washing their hands of the whole experience. Never again, Turo. You lost a customer for life, not because of one bad host, but because of how you protect bad hosts while hanging renters out to dry.

    Overall, really a great experience. However, one GIANT glaring issue that I see is the window where you don't let people book another vehicle within the same time frame. If I am returning a car at 12pm on a Saturday, I would PREFER to get another car at 11am the same day, so that I am not left with a vehicle.     I got screwed by Turo twice. Once when a customer used my easy pass but did not tell me and when I asked for reimbursement Turo refused because I did not add the transponder number in the details before the trip. I eventually got the money back on my own by threatening legal action against the customer. No help from Turo at all. Second issue someone stole my windshield wipers and I couldn't file a claim because I didn't take pictures of the wipers before the trip. Like anyone takes pictures of the wipers before any trip.     Hello, I have now spent over an hour getting the run around from Turo regarding my insurance claim. There is apparently a "process" that is clearly not too host friendly. I have over $4000 worth of damages to my Jaguar and my claim was declined due to 'UNCLEAR PHOTOS". The customer took photos of small leaf particles and dog hair in my car, don't you think if there was body damage prior to her trip she would have CLEARLY noted such? I would appreciate someone calling me directly to discuss this as no one in any of your customer service departments can assist. They just say that is a different department and they don't work by phone! The Host experience has been horrible. I would not sign up and subject yourself to potential expenses even with their insurance! Clearly, this is going to consume my time, I hope it doesn't have to go to the level of suing, but it appears to be going that direction with the horrible service received so far.

    I am very dissatisfied with Turo. They restricted my account from the beginning with no explanation. I asked for a phone call and they only email me saying I'm restricted. I have no moving violations, background is clear, haven't violated any of their rules since I've never rented yet, good credit, been driving over 20 years and I'm a driver for Doordash, Uber, Instacart and Hop Skip Drive (which is driving people's kids). So it makes no sense for them to restrict me as a driver.

    I can't speak to a manager, can't fight the decision, can't get an explanation or anything. I know people that have had minor moving violations and have an account. This is ridiculous.     We rented a Ford Cmax in San Jose California. While we had the car a shopping cart scratched the paint. The damage was reported immediately, we were charged 500$ for the damages as a deposit. We were then told that we had to pay an additional $2,343.67 for the scratch that remained, the scratch was less than 1 inch long. I can get an a Honda Civic painted for less than that. We called to talk to a rep and was told that the damage was assessed using the photographs uploaded using the mobile app, but the rep could not tell me who was doing the assessment, or how many images that were uploaded that got to be viewed.

    I finally got the rep to admit that she did the assessment based on the damage seen in the photo but she would not tell me how many images she looked at to assess the damage, I’m basically being Billed for their policy's max just because they think they can get away with it. I had to turn off my credit card to stop them from billing me again because the rep said that had “The right to continue” to bill me. I would not recommend this car service to anyone else, I think they’re trying to scam people out of money. -Milagros ** refused to forward me to a supervisor.

    I've been with Turo for over 2 years, and this is the first time I had major damage. Turo basically forces the host to communicate with the driver to come to an agreement on repairs. I did once in the past and the charges were minor, about $100 so no one would think of using the insurance that Turo provides. The customer paid and all is fine.

    This time, the damage was over $4,000. Turo insists that we come to an agreement with the customer. NO CUSTOMER will pay $4k without insurance, so as the host, I had to convert the customer conversation that went nowhere to an insurance claim. Once this happens, the customer is advised not to talk to the host anymore. The customer who damaged the vehicle is now completely off the hook and has not paid anything to the HOST for the damage caused. To make matters worse. TURO isn't requiring the customer to pay or even pay a deductible and use its insurance to pay for the repairs, TURO requires the HOST, that's right, the HOST, to use the insurance/deductible to pay for the CUSTOMER'S DAMAGE. WHAT?!?!

    So here I am, with a $2500 deductible (because why would I ever need to use my insurance if I am the HOST on the Turo platform). I am told that I need to pay the $2500 deductible in order to fix someone else's damage and the customer is completely off the hook. Then if this news isn't bad, Turo says their claims dept said that the damages were $1500 so they aren't paying for anything. INSURANCE SCAM! I'm giving Turo insurance money as the HOST, the customer is giving Turo insurance money and Turo pays employees to say "SORRY, we can't do anything."

    I host out my 2017 red Subaru STI/WRX which is a standard. I had a renter who called two days after having my car asking me how do they use the reverse. Two days later my car was towed in front of someone else yard with my keys missing. I towed the car to the dealership and parts with labor to replace the clutch was 4100.00. Turo only gave me 1800.00 while I have to pay the rest: be careful if you're renting a standard race car because people will race and run it into the ground and Turo will not hold the renter accountable. Good luck. The 700.00 I made from Turo pretty much went into fixing my car so I lost out and had my bank go - instead of a nice steady second income.

    Turo scams its customers by charging huge amounts for damage that was not caused by the customer. They were sued in a class action lawsuit for exactly this. They lost, and still continue to commit the same scam. I rented a beat up minivan in 2016 through Turo. I had zero accidents, no fender benders, no parking mishaps, nothing. When I returned it to the owner it was cleaner than when I received it. The owner looked it over and had nothing negative to say.

    Weeks later I receive a notice from Turo stating that I had caused damage to the front bumper along with a picture that looked like a scuff that could be rubbed off with a wet rag. With it they included a bill for nearly $700. I reached out to the owner of the vehicle. He told me if I gave him $200 we could forget about it. I did not want to pay, as I did not cause the damage, but I agreed to in order to avoid being charged $700. Turo then continued to come after me for their price. I told them I dealt directly with the owner and that the matter was settled. I thought they dropped it, but now over 5 years down the road they have put me in collections for nearly $1,200. A quick Google search will show that this is a very common story with them. I would avoid using this company at all costs.

    I used a Turo rental to drive from NJ to IL. On the first day of rental, the car started having mechanical issues (I believe the transmission was failing, but not an expert) and broke down. Turo offered a replacement car, but was not able to get me one in IL that I could return to NJ. So that was useless to me, and I ended up having to fly home. The car was a Nissan Versa 2016 at about 83k miles, which is apparently a common time for the CVT transmission to fail. (I'm not a car expert, so did not even think to look at the mileage when renting.) The host was an all-star host with hundreds of 5 star reviews.

    Turo had offered me a full refund + reimbursements for alternative travel, and now are refusing to honor that offer.     I was a first-time Turo user trying to rent a car for a vacation. I rented a car in which the owner/contractor cancelled after my booking. I decided to give Turo another shot and I booked with another owner/contractor. Everything went through and I thought it was going to be a great transaction but I was definitely wrong. I landed at my vacation destination, waited in the airport until it was time to pick up the car, took an Uber to pick up the car and when I got there the owner/contractor tried to tell me that he cancelled my reservation which was incorrect because my rental on the app said it was in progress.

    I then called Turo in which they gave me the run around for several hours and refused to help me as a customer or even try to keep me as a customer. I then tried to use the chat service in which they were even worse. I was refunded my money but of course that takes 3-5 business days which is always frustrating.     I will keep this short. The first 3 cars were cancelled by the owners within 24 hours for various reasons. The fourth car cancelled 20 hours prior to my trip. The owner texted me to see if I was interested in another car (the car I was to rent got a mysterious flat that could not be fixed in time), and tried to get me to go out of the Turo service arrangement and meet him somewhere to get the other vehicle. In the 2 months since my initial booking the prices increased 250% for the last second booking. Turo offered me next to nothing (about a 8% credit for a new car rental). In summary, stay away!

    1. Minor dents and scratches on rental cars are ignored by rental car providers. Unless it's obvious, they overlook it. With Turo, the host lends their personal vehicle to the user, who is responsible even single tiny mark.
    2. Rental car, unless it's busy day, provide couple of hours of grace time but no grace time with Turo. They will charge you for entire additional day.
    3. While returning a car, there is no need to wash or vacuum it, whereas when returning a with Turo, you must wash and vacuum it otherwise they will put a additional fee.

    4. Rental cars are available at the airport, however Turo hosts charge $30-40 to deliver the car to the airport, or you have to get Uber to travel to the host location. Same while returning the car.

    The host was great, on time, very polite and friendly, but the car was not in such great shape. There were quite a few big scratches on the car, there was a tear in the convertible top, and one of the side mirrors was taped on with duct tape. It was not the car we saw in the pictures. I understand a 2012 car is going to have some bumps/bruises but we did not see them when we saw pictures and booked online.     I rented an Infiniti Q60 two months in advance to ensure I had my travel plans booked accordingly and at a good value. Fast forward to South Florida, visiting family, and the day I was to receive my vehicle, the car never arrived. Turns out the listing on the site was a scam, and through much back and forth, I was eventually refunded my amount but left without a car. They refused to book me another car since it was not last-minute and no cars were available on their app in a price-point within the amount I made my reservation. I ended up going through an actual reputable car rental company, Hertz, and had to pay +200 for an economy car over what I originally intended on budgeting for a car rental.

    All to say, plan accordingly when renting through TURO, you never know if it is a scam and you are in effect gambling with your vacation or plans. I was dumbfounded by their unwillingness to find me any accommodations since it was a gross mishap on their side for allowing and not properly vetting scams from existing on their site. It is overall unfortunate because they have a good business plan and many happy customers, but plenty of people that also that get screwed because they lack the proper oversight AND customer service to ensure their customers are properly looked after when these derelict situations occur because of their poor management and leadership in the industry.

    This was the worst in cost, car, and experience! The fees are excessively high! You do have to buy additional car insurance, which was $37 extra per day. Joe claims the car is easier to get to than the professional car agencies yet it costed us $22 to use an Uber from the airport. We could have used the airport shuttle for free. The car wasn't that clean on the inside and outside. The windshield's interior had a film of dirt. And yet they expect you to clean it professionally and vacuum before you return it.

    My husband drove the car to the airport when going home and then I drove the car to its parking space. He left the fob in his pocket by mistake. Our daughters helped us out to return the fob, but that caused us to be 45 minutes late. Joe then charged us an additional $75.53 for a late fee, even after I explained everything! For 3 days, the total cost was $479.66, that's $159.88 per day and the car wasn't even that great! Save your money, folks, and get a better deal, car, and convenience through Budget or Alamo!

    Getting rental cars has become the QUITE project for travel post-Covid, so I was thrilled to discover Turo. However there are some issues with this service worth noting:

    1. If you put in the search box that you need pick-up and return at an airport, the search engine will often present vehicles that are located far away and there are extra charges (like $50-120) for airport runs. Also, many hosts won't do airport runs after 10:00 pm - that's understandable, but then why present these hosts/vehicles as options?

    2. You cannot specify pick-up and drop off from two different locations.

    3. I had a host CANCEL on me 48 hours before a scheduled trip that I had booked 4 weeks ahead of time. I had reached out to the host and got no response so contacted customer service who then informed me that the vehicle was suddenly "no longer available"?? WHAT? Totally unacceptable. I was left scrambling with customer service trying to find another vehicle. In the end we booked one, but I had to book it for the next day at a different drop-off location (inconvenient) and the vehicle was not suitable for my family (I had originally deliberately booked a mini-van for capacity; we ended up with a sedan). The customer service agent was AMAZING though, and even expressed his frustrations at some of the limitations of the app. It took us both almost 2 hours to secure a replacement vehicle. YES, you can contact the host after you have booked to fine-tune arrangements, but this is not clear on the front-end.

    4. You cannot give feedback on a flaky host, therefore the ratings are not actually reflective of the host's reliability. Turo notes if a host has canceled bookings, but I wanted to be able to rate her. I couldn't. Also - you cannot make more than one booking at a time for a trip. What this means is that if you are stuck with an unsuitable vehicle and you find a replacement, you have to cancel one before you can book the other. Sounds reasonable? Well, that's great unless as while you are cancelling your bad car, your replacement car gets booked by someone else. This actually happened to me while customer service was helping me.... terrible! Back to square one! This experience added a lot of extra stress to my upcoming trip and I had to cancel a bunch of work meetings to sort it out.

    The replacement car we booked was a lot more expensive than the original mini-van and I lost income due to this fiasco, too. Turo gave me a $160 credit towards the booking of the replacement vehicle, but the rental still ended up costing me $300 more than the original mini-van booked. My advice? reach out to your host immediately and establish a relationship. Make sure they understand how much you are COUNTING on them for this vehicle otherwise they feel no obligation to fulfill the booking and will cancel if they think an airport run is too logistically annoying.

    Recent trip to Denver, rented from TURO, Porsche Macan, three women, one in her 70s. First day we use car it gets a punctured tire, spare tire defective, we were left to our own device in a gas station parking lot for over four hours, in DT Denver till we finally arranged for a Uber on our own….was in parking lot till after midnight. We were not allowed to use our own personal AAA. It had to be through TURO! Read all the fine print!

    Stayed on the phone with multiple customer service reps till 3am who were not able to accommodate us. They did not provide another vehicle, did not care about our safety, and only wanted to reimburse us $50 out of the $900 we spent. It’s a great concept, but they DO NOT CARE! We ended up renting another vehicle from AVIS. They are still trying to pursue collecting additional monies. Never ever again! Completely ruined our trip! Please be very aware!

    I needed to move a family member to another state & we needed a rental truck & none of the rental companies had any, so my nephew told me about Turo. I will never use them again. If it was possible to give no stars, I would. There is no way to contact anyone except through a chat, & the phone number they leave just rings that fast busy tone you get when a number doesn't work. As far as I am concerned, they are nothing more than a scam company ripping people off. I booked my trip for 3 days, 2 days into the trip I get a text from them telling me my trip is about to end & that I needed to return my rental.

    I didn't have access to my original email verifying my trip until I got home, which clearly shows my rental for 3 days, yet they are insisting I only booked a 2 day rental. Asked them to show me the 2 day rental agreement which of course does not exist. I even asked for a supervisor & received an email from him saying that I only booked for 2 days.     On my last trip. It was mandatory that cleaning fee option was chosen. Renter wouldn’t book trip without it. Please either do not allow this. Or make this a mandatory option that can be added to reflect final price. The point of the app is to see the total price and make it easier for a person that is renting..

    Easy pick up and drop off. Car was in excellent condition and perfect for getting my family around while my car was in the shop. Will definitely use TURO again. Price was also so much better than using a traditional rental company. I’ll never rent with anyone else but TURO.

    I really enjoyed Turo. I just don't like the fact that you have to take the liability insurance if you have your own insurance. I think that should be an option. Overall everything else was great. I will use Turo again.
