    The car was great and just expected. Easy to get and get in. My only complaint with is with the $150 cleaning fee I was charged for sand on floor mats. I specifically asked the host if I needed to vacuum or wash the car and he said it was not necessary. I also read the rules on per Turo on cleaning fee charges. It states that unless it requires excessive or professional cleaning then you will be charged $150 cleaning fee. The sand was white sand on black mats nothing that shaking or vacuuming the mats would’ve taken care of. After talking with the host he said he requested Turo to refund my $150. They refunded only $75. I chatted with someone on live chat about the remainder of the $75 and he said he would get back with me and I have not heard anything.

    My brother and I rented Paul H's Porche Taycan for our parents' 70th birthdays. Paul was a responsive, flexible, and transparent host. The car was immaculate and very fun to drive. However I was a bit upset because on the day of a couple of hours before my trip I was informed that the car was cancelled. I was highly upset and very disappointed.     I had not heard of this service before, until my daughter mentioned it to me. We were looking for a nice vehicle to ride our family in for a family function during the weekend. After seeing the ratings of our host, we traveled about an hour away to pick up vehicle from her.     My host cancelled my reservation 10 minutes before my flight was to land and I was to get the car.     Owner claimed a scratch on the car 12+ hrs after picking it up. My drop off pictures were dark given it was in the evening, but you can see there is no scratch in that location the owner claimed. I escalated to Turo's claims team. The owner claimed another dent without telling me initially, and Turo's dispute claim came out to $450+, and they charged me citing the drop off picture was too dark to tell. The Turo Representative told me that they take everything within 24 hrs of drop off into account. How is that fair? Owners can scratch their car in that 24 hrs and put that liability on the renter? Turo was extremely unhelpful. I've heard this happening before with another friend, but thought it was a one-off event, but then it happened to me. Would much rather use a rental company, they are cheaper and won't scam you.

    Just as I was going to gather my Turo rental, the owner contacted me to tell me the engine light was on and he told me "not to worry." I was worried, but had no other options at this last minute. I found my car parked in the garage and immediately wondered how I would be able to remove the car without a steep parking garage fee. I was correct.

    The Car Owner not only collected $100 drop-off fee but also left me with a $30 garage ticket in order to take the car. This was never disclosed. I contacted both the Owner and Turo. Neither would do anything to reimburse me for this $30. Turo did not respond after their initial request for proof of engine light and parking ticket. I never heard from them again. In the end, I barely used the car because I was afraid of engine breakdown. Very disappointing experience.

    We got a dead battery in a grocery store parking lot. We notified the host and she had us contact Turo support and she would do the same. We were told someone would be dispatched and we would be sent the info whenever they leave. We waited over an hour and heard nothing. I called and was told “no one wants to drive out there”. That is nuts and beyond unacceptable.

    We finally found some very friendly patrons who helped jump the car almost 2 hours after the first call. After going to a local auto zone to get a new battery I only then got a notice that someone was being dispatched, almost 3 hours later!!! Then, they said all they would do was tow the car. FOR A DEAD BATTERY?!? All we needed was a jump. We called the company and cancelled the tow. This was beyond inconvenient for us and the last way we, or anyone, would want to spend almost 3 hours of their vacation. I will say the host was wonderful and beyond apologetic. Dead batteries happen, but should not take 2 hours to resolve.

The logistics of car pickup and return were at least the equal of any rental firm, i.e., Avis, Hertz, with top level status. But more timely and simpler. Only small hitch was in car selection, when I asked for filter for only cars on Maui and still was shown, and briefly selected, one on the Main Island. Fix was very easy. No big deal, and possibly due to my 1st time use of your service. Will certainly repeat using Turo in the future!

    First off, you can't speak to the host unless you reserve and pay....so there's no way to actually know if pick-up addresses will be okay or not. So, I did. I talked to the guy, couldn't agree on a convenient pick-up strategy so I cancelled. THEY KEEP YOUR MONEY FOR 24 hrs before refunding. SO, I booked another ride. After all, it just didn't work out, no biggie. March 16, everything is confirmed for a convertible car rental in Miami with Jonathan C. I book my trip around this AND....April 7, I get a PM from the host advising me he had sold the car. Host did NOT cancel the reservation in the app. That notification went into my junk mail. Realized it April 17, while checking into Turo. Guy refused to cancel it, had a 4.93 star rating and an all-star host. I'm the one who had to call.

    Being from Canada, I called the Canadian phone #. Lost 15 minutes into waiting and talking before being told I had to speak to US line. They transfer me. Another 10 minutes of waiting before the line CUT. So...I called, again, but on the US phone #. Girl sees the messages, tells me that I'll be refunded...I NEED to go to class (I'm a teacher) and she's REALLY trying to sell me the idea of trying AGAIN. Nope. No. Done. We hang up. 12 hours later, fudging reservation is STILL not cancelled. I call again on my way to work. Another 15 minutes lost on the phone, finally got it cancelled...and the guy, after me telling him I'm DONE, is STILL trying to talk me into another rental. NO. N. O. Full, short, sentence.

    Now, 11 days after cancellation BY THE HOST, I still have to wait 24 hours them to initiate the refund, then 5 to 7 days before getting a refund. I will not be made whole again as there are different exchange rates between then and now. I also looked into what happens when hosts cancels. Well, being an all-star is a free pass. He will not be charged. I can't write a review on him. NOTHING. NOT AGAIN.

    I was charged for things that I did not do. They charged me for an animal in the car because I had a furry purse and my hair was shedding as well so they charged me for having a pet, which is a lie. They send me pictures and it shows nowhere that it was pet hair. They charged me for smoking as well when the proof they showed me was invalid. They lied and scammed me out my money. I Will never be using Turo again. Also when I show on the phone with a representative they looked at the pictures and said that is has no signs of smoking! So that’s how I know it’s some fraudulent stuff going on.

    It was my first time using Turo. I’m on the fence on whether it was worth it or not for a couple reasons. First, I hadn’t realized the car was owned by a smoker until the second day when the car really had a smoke smell and it stuck with me away from the car. I should have checked into that but I assumed it would be similar to renting from a rental company which is normally smoke free. The second reason was the overall cost I had to spend to get a UBER ride to get back and forth to the airport from where I had to pickup and drop off. When the costs add up I would have been better off paying for an overpriced rental car. Not to mention all the extra time that it took to get to the airport on time since I had troubles with UBER. I chose not to complain about the smoke because I really liked the guy I rented the car from. He even offered me a ride to the airport which I turned down.

    After multiple attempts, the person traveling with me was unable to obtain a confirmation code while following the sign up protocol for being added as a second driver. He tried email, live chat and speaking on the phone with a representative over several days and was unable to receive a confirmation text or email in order to continue the registration process. On Friday April 7 about 40 hours before the trip started, I contacted Ted, my host, and explained to him the frustration as well as wasted time and effort trying to enroll a second driver.

    I mentioned that I was on the verge of cancelling the trip because of this issue. I told him the ancillary driver’s name (Adam **) and he said it showed on his end he was all set as the second driver. Meanwhile my app showed his application incomplete. I even received an email from Turo with a link to view the trip details hoping it would show me what needed to be done. I clicked the link and it did not work. This part of our experience with Turo was absolutely awful. While our host was excellent (5 stars) and the car perfect (5 stars), it’s not likely we will use Turo again because of what happened.

    The whole process was easy to rent and pickup the vehicle. The van was great until we noticed the flat tire signal and we went to pump the tires. But the next day it had the signal again and we noticed one wheel was getting flat. So we took it to the tire shop and they said there was a hole and couldn’t patch it up. It needs to be replaced.     So much better than airport rentals! I used Turo on a suggestion from a client of mine. She mentioned the rental desk at MCO (Orlando) was a nightmare.     This was my first trip on Turo, it went very well and the host/car were great. We were rear ended with very minor damage and I was contacted saying I need to cover the damage cost for something out of my control. I was not happy when I found this out as I chose the more expensive coverage option. Turo should, in my opinion, make an effort to help the host and rider in these types of situations. It leaves a bad impression that I would be liable for something I would not be liable in a rental car company vehicle, or in my own vehicle. This should have been handled with the insurance of the driver at fault and host/Turo, and not involve me in any way.

    The car was in bad condition the tires were so worn out that one of them popped on the highway making us late for an appointment we had that day. We checked the other tires and they were also worn out. There was an issue with the brakes as well every time we would brake the car would shake really bad. Luckily my brother is a mechanic so he was able to change the tire at the side of the highway but as customers this should not be something we should be doing. If the tires would have been properly inspected this would have never happened. It was my first time renting from Turo and I was not satisfied with my experience.     This was my 2nd time using Turo. Not only are the rates reasonable, the car selections are great, and the check-in and out is simple! At the Lihue airport in Kauai, Hawaii, there's a separate area from the regular rental company shuttles for the Turo shuttle van to pick up the passengers. Directions were provided to find it. I had to message my Turo contact, because I didn't find the area right away. Austin responded within seconds and got me on the right track! After a short 7 minute ride, we were dropped off at the lot. Again, I didn't read my Directions clearly and had to ask Austin via text for the parking space number. He kindly provided it, and I was on my way! One note- please tip your shuttle driver- it's especially hard to make ends meet these days, and after all, they are working so that you can have a restful vacation!

    My experience with the host and the vehicle was 5 stars all around, but I feel the Turo pricing is less than transparent. The vehicle rental fee was $54, then the Trip Fee was $54 and the insurance was $54. That cost of insurance for a five-hour rental far exceeds anything I've paid at other rental agencies across the country. And what is the Trip Fee, which doubles the cost of the rental itself? Who gets that Trip Fee, if the host only gets a portion of the rental fee? The cost of renting the vehicle should be posted for what it is - twice the "rental fee"!

    I know it might seem obvious, but I didn’t see anywhere where it stated I had to re-fill the gas tank. If I had seen that I would’ve refilled it, thought it might have been part of the bargain with Turo versus a rental car place.     While our initial dealings with Turo were seemingly great, the policy specifically stating you do not need to clean is incorrect. In the policy it says anything that may be vacuumed or wiped off will not eligible to be charged for a cleaning fee. Our daughter had dust on her shoe and put her feet in the backseat. Pretty normal for Las Vegas. She also had chips under her car seat that we tried to sweep out as best we could. There was some dirt/dust that was easily vacuumed. Yet, the owner is charging us a $150 cleaning fee. Turo is siding with the host and there is absolutely no reason why. They also automatically charge your account without a procedure to dispute it. Considering the rental was not significantly cheaper than going other places, we will certainly not be renting from such a business that proceeds to allow wrongful charges to happen.

    I used this company for the first time and I was misled by the host. I rent a vehicle for couple days. I end up returning the vehicle the night before. Before I return, reach out to the host asking if I should wash and fill tank with gas, his reply was, "Fill the tank but you don’t need to wash unless you pee or poop in the vehicle." I said, "Can come and take a look at the vehicle since I have a time to go wash the car just to make sure the car is in an acceptable condition." He came and look and said the vehicle was in an acceptable condition. He also, communicated that through the app so this conversation is documented.

    Anyways, the company send me an email stating that I owe $150 for cleaning because I returned the dirty. This is wrong and misleading. I had enough time to do a $10 wash. I returned the car Saturday night at 9 pm and I was supposed to return the vehicle Sunday morning at 10am. I don’t encourage people to use this company. They are not transparent.

    In the beginning it definitely felt like a great experience. I was a little nervous because this was my first time and I have a pretty great driving history. Immediately I took photos of the car, Followed all the instructions and began my drive. During my drive I noticed a few things that were wrong with the vehicle and because I was worried about being held responsible for them I kept messaging the host just to be safe. At that point the car was driving in great condition. I was still very worried about all the Service signs the tire inflation and other mechanical issues that were wrong with the vehicle but it did get me through my ride and through my journey safely. Being that it was only going to be used for a few hours I did not complain about how dirty the exterior or interior was and didn’t realize my phones photos were not clear because I have an outdated phone.

    At first I was uncomfortable and didn’t want to seem like a complainer so I reassured the host that the car did make me feel safe even though I kept reporting issues via chat. At the end of the trip it was 9 PM 10 PM and I took photos for the end inspection. Again my phone is an s7.. so I didn’t realize you could barely see the clarity or condition of the exterior. I also know that I only had the car parked in two locations and no one leaned or hung around the vehicle during those times.

    Once I was done with the rental I wiped the windows, the seats and I shook out the mats in case of any leftover dirt as I’m supposed to. I did not complain about the condition of the car. I simply was grateful and glad that the host had patience with me for constantly Keeping them informed about the status and health of the vehicle. I left a great review because that’s the kind of person I am. I knew things were wrong with the vehicle but my ride was smooth and it still went well.

    So the next day I get an invoice which was expected. I paid it then received a message stating I scratched the car and they submitted photos. I honestly can tell you no one was on or around the car. I really was surprised because I knew how careful I was with the vehicle.

    I feel as though Because they seen my morning photos, which made the car look completely new on the exterior, they used me as a way to get a few things fixed by falsely stating I scratched or dented the vehicle. I can compare the photos that were taken to the ones they have and you can clearly see the difference in clarity. Unfortunately I don’t have an updated phone because mines had broke a day prior to me obtaining the rental. So I quickly just used an old device for the week.

    I am prepared to fight these false allegations and hopefully it does not hold and impact on my Turo account as a future customer. I didn’t know who to contact and I’m happy that this email came today. If there anything that can be done.. any information will be appreciated. Furthermore I’m telling you this because I just hope no one is in my predicament and gets falsely reported for something they did not do. Thank you for your time.

    Drawn to the TURO site because of the outrageous prices for rental cars in Hawaii. As first-time users we were skeptical. As it turns out, every aspect of the service, from booking through pick-up and drop-off exceeded every expectation, and so much more conveniently and quickly than dealing with the slow and cumbersome process when renting through the traditional outfits. The hosts provided responsive and timely guidance; the car itself was perfect for our vacation needs and didn't give us any trouble at all. Would recommend to anyone.

    This company sucks. For starters, it literally took WEEKS for BOTH of my tech support emails to get responded to. And when they did respond, there was absolutely no resolution. Not that it was even a problem anymore considering it’s been weeks since the issue occurred. I had already ended up going with another rental service, by force. But when I actually did “successfully” book through Turo, eventually (I couldn’t originally which was the initial issue), I arrive at the designated location to pick up my vehicle, and close to 30 minutes later (after I reached out to the host) I was told that the vehicle had not yet been returned from the last renter. I was then offered vehicles that were not comparable to what I originally paid for, and was told that it was up to Turo to make any compensation or price accommodations. To which Turo, told me it was up to the host, and then was abruptly put on hold without notice, only to finally be transferred and then hung up on.

    I eventually got my money back, but was still left without a rental from them, because of course I wasn’t going to continue using these vehicles after being treated so poorly on multiple accounts, and them doing absolutely nothing about it but continuing to still want me to spend my money with them. Customer service is a complete 0/100. The overall experience from beginning to end was absolutely terrible and I will never use them again.

    I was pleasantly surprised by how wonderfully our Turo experience was last week. We were traveling to Phoenix (along with numerous other people during a typical Spring Break week) and found that rental cars were higher than normal to rent so I checked out Turo. We found a great car for our family's needs (4 people and all their luggage) and the price was right! Our 'renter' was pleasant to deal with and communicated well in regards to where the car was parked, where to pick up the keys, etc. We noticed some rock chips in the windshield and texted him quick to see if he knew about them (we'd only had the car for 1 day at that point) and he was quick to respond that they had happened before us. It was a wonderful experience and we'll definitely be using Turo again!
