Best vacation program in the World. Thanks to this Ownership with Hilton we have stayed in luxury Condos all over the world such as Italy, Park City Utah, Mexico, Scotland, Japan, Thailand and often visit the Hawaiian Islands. We purchased because we love staying at 1-2 bedroom Condos with our family, rather than small Hotel rooms. The accommodations are beautiful and we have always experienced incredible customer service. Vacations are really important to us and Hilton Grand Vacations has exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend this product to family and friends or anyone wanting to enhance their vacation lifestyle.

The reason we wish to exit Hilton Grand Vacations (HGV) is that we have never received the vacations and services that we were promised by being members. We have never been able to make reservations where and when we wished. When we asked why we could not make the reservation we were told that we did not book far enough into the future. We were not told it would be necessary to make reservations more than a year in advance.

Every time we met with HGV salespeople we were talked into buying more points with the promise that as Diamond grade members we would receive more privileges. This never happened. Our last contract was through a Jack ** in Las Vegas NV. He said that with this contract we would become “Double Diamond” members and a reservation would be guaranteed. We have never seen a Double Diamond designation in any correspondence with HGV. It became painfully obvious earlier this year how worthless it was to be an HGV member.

We had made reservations with the Bahia Mar Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale. We were promised adjoining ocean-facing rooms. When we arrived we were given two separate rooms that overlooked the parking lot. The rooms were not even Hilton Honors rooms or on a Hilton Honors floor. We received no better treatment than if we had just walked off the street. The front desk said it was a first-come first-serve so that we got standard rooms.

During the purchase of the contracts we were told that we could deduct on our tax returns the mortgage interest. We have been informed by our accountant that we can deduct the interest on only one other mortgage other than our home mortgage such that we cannot afford to pay such large loans with no deductions. We are paying and have paid an enormous amount of money and have received nothing in return. Nothing is as promised and we been completely misled. We are now retiring and cannot afford to pay this. Given the above experience we need to exit as soon as possible.

Like others, I had called Hilton customer service just now to request a change to an existing reservation I have on an upcoming trip. At the end of the call, the person who was changing my reservation said that I was in luck, she was authorized to offer me a $200 credit off of an upcoming stay if I just listened to a short presentation! Being well aware of timeshare scams and having suffered through a few, I was immediately on guard, but since this was coming from a Hilton representative, I agreed. Let me add that I am a Hilton diamond member and have been a loyal Hilton customer for decades.

Of course, this is what it was about. The sales person started out by saying she could give me 500 HHonors points if I just listened to a short presentation, no obligation! Since I can easily get 500 points in a number of ways, I asked about the $200? I also asked if this was a timeshare presentation, because if it was, I was NOT INTERESTED. She said that it would just take a few minutes. First she offered me the 4 day/3 night deal in Orlando, Myrtle Beach, Las Vegas or Washington, DC. None of those locations are of great interest to me because I already visit them and have alternate arrangements. I had to listen to her for about 5 minutes and finally interrupted, saying that I'd already spent a lot of money on my upcoming trip (that I'd originally called about!) so didn't want to spend more money. Guess what! She then dropped the price to $99!!!

Then I googled for reviews of Hilton Grand Vacations and found this site. I started skimming the reviews and told her that I see a ton of 1 star reviews and she got a bit aggressive telling me that this is just not true, Hilton is a respected brand and so on. I started reading some of the reviews to her. I then said that I was not interested. Like others said, the salesperson then gets aggressive. I know that this is part of the tactic as I've spent a LOT of time researching these tactics. They first seem nice but if you say no, they get extremely aggressive and even nasty. Don't let this intimidate you.

I finally told her that she had told me that the sales presentation would be no pressure, but she herself right now was giving me a high pressure sales presentation and I was NOT INTERESTED. (I also told her that I'd been to a Hilton timeshare presentations in Hawaii when they used to give out 30,000 HHonors points and found this to be very high pressure, but I just told the salesmen that I was only there for the points and mostly they backed off, though there was some nastiness from one. However, since I was paying for my room and just showing up at the end to get the points, there wasn't much they could do to me, but if I took her offer of a stay I didn't like the thought that they would be able to pressure me any time they wanted.)

When she wouldn't stop pressuring me about what a great deal this was, I said THANK YOU and hung up. I then looked up the email for the Hilton CEO and emailed him with the link to this site, asking if he would do anything about this and expressing my disappointment in Hilton for allowing this to go on. Some of these complaints are really, really bad. I'm also rethinking my commitment to Hilton unless they stop these deceptive high pressure practices. This is just disgusting. If you also want to email, write to: **.

My husband and I purchased a $10,000 unit three years ago with an 'every other year' benefit. For the life of me - it is next to impossible to take advantage of our 'very low entry' purchase. Whenever I complain, the HGV corporation does not address our complaints but rather, encourages us to purchase additional property in order to optimize our experience. Please let it be known that my husband and I are middle-aged; middle/high income; highly educated. HGV and their impressive pitch, 'got us' - they really did.

Part 1- Disorganization. I was offered a 2 or 3 night stay through HGVC based on the city I chose. I purchased this for around $223. Months later, I got married. I married a Colombian. After our wedding, I decided to book the trip, as he wanted to visit Washington DC. We were offered 2 night stay at the Madison Hotel. While making the reservation, they asked for the confirmation number. I gave it to them. They asked if I was employed, and if my husband was employed. I answered that I was, but at the moment he was not. They asked if he would be coming with me on the trip, and I said yes. They told me he was then required to come to the presentation meeting.

We booked our trip and we were excited to see Washington DC, and also the possibility of purchasing a timeshare or their travel club membership. A few days later I decided that I would like to add an additional night to our stay. I called Hilton and made a reservation, out of my pocket for the one night stay. When calling back (closer to our trip) to confirm, they did not see the reservation I had made. They only saw the 2 night stay through Hilton Grand Vacation package. They said I needed to book the additional night through Hilton Grand. This took place the weekend of October 5/6.

I called Hilton Grand. They said they were unable to add the additional night (Monday, November 19th) to the stay, because they only handle packages. They said I would have to call Hilton Hotel-Madison and make the reservation on my own voice of Hilton Grand Vacations. I tried to do that. Once again, Madison said "No". I called Hilton Grand back again, and got a woman. She tried to understand why Hilton would not allow me to make the reservation. After a very, very long time on the phone, which happened to be on another vacation of ours, she said there was nothing she could do. I decided to call the hotel once again, but later in the week. I called the hotel, and made the reservation finally.

Then I received an email From Hilton Grand Vacations that I needed to confirm my trip. I did, and the gentleman I spoke to said it was for only 2 nights, not 3. I mentioned perhaps that was because I booked it on my own, and described the issue. He apologized for all of the inconvenience, and booked the trip for the 3 nights November 19th, 20th, and 21st. When I asked how much the 19th would be, he said it would be covered by Hilton Grand Vacations, and I would get the 3 nights. We were very happy for them settling the issue.

HOWEVER when we got to the Madison on the 19th, they saw that I had 1 reservation for the 19th, and a second reservation for the 19th, 20th and 21st. I said, No I only need the one reservation for the three nights. They started to charge me over $700. I told them that all nights were free. They called Hilton Grand. Long, long, long story short - Hilton Grand would not honor what their gentlemen said on the phone, and said I would have to pay for my stay on the 19th. That was frustrating, but initially, we were planning to pay for that night anyway.

Part 2 Discrimination. My husband and I set our alarms for the morning of the 21st, and were very excited to go to our presentation meeting. We had a budget in mind, and places we would like to travel. We love to travel and realized that joining this club/timeshare would be beneficial and easier for us. We got to the Embassy Suites in Washington Dc and waited for our meeting. There they said we would get 15,000 extra Hilton Honor points (I'm a Hilton honors member), and a $200 credit towards another Hilton Stay. We chose our hotel choice and waited for our meeting.

A lady came and got us, and was very nice. After conversation with her she realized that my husband was Colombian and we were newlyweds. She asked if I needed a translator, and I told her no. I said, if he doesn't understand something I can just translate it. She insisted to go get someone, I again told her we didn't need anybody, and that he can understand. She came back smiling, and asked about how we met, and where we got married, etc. I told her and then expressed the issues we had with the 2 and 3 night stay. While saying this, a man sat down. I didn't know if he was there to observe her, or if he was doing the presentation with her.

While I was speaking, he interrupted and said, "Well, Hi, my name is Dave, and I'm about to make your life even more difficult." Those were his exact words. He then slid a card across the table. We both looked at each other confused. He said, your husband needs a translator (and spoke as if my husband were not even in the room). I said, "No, he can understand." He said, "Well is he completely fluent in reading and writing?" I said, "well perhaps not completely fluent, but he can understand." I looked at him puzzled, and he said, "We are not going to do this presentation with you. She will not be speaking with you. You are disqualified, because your husband is not fluent. I was shocked. I said, "I am the one who is working and making all financial decisions, and he does understand." I looked at my husband and said, "Don't you?." And my husband said "Yes, he doesn't want to continue this meeting with us."

I told Dave that my husband can understand, and he rudely and matter of factly said, "That's not the point. We are not going to give you this presentation, and she will escort you out. You may now leave." She asked us to get our things, and walked us to the door. I was completely in shock and dumbfounded. I had never been denied something like that. I don't need my husband to be fluent to purchase a house, a car, or a vacation. They mentioned that online it says that both parties have to be fluent. I was not aware of this.

I called the number the man gave me. She stated that we were disqualified because my husband was not completely fluent in reading and writing. I asked her what I should have done. I purchased this when I was single, and then got married to a foreigner. She said I should have informed them of that, and because of that I could not take the trip!! I asked her if I would have gotten my money back then, and she said "No, It's non-refundable."

So because I got married to a Colombian, and he is not fluent, I was excluded from this vacation, but had no idea. And because he is not fluent in reading and writing, we were asked to leave the hotel and not granted the meeting. And, we wanted to buy that day! But we are not allowed to purchase Hilton property, because my husband is not fluent!!! Complete discrimination and rude! The person on the phone also said that I needed to immediately check out of the hotel (Madison-Washington, DC) and find another hotel. Or if they would allow, then we could go downstairs, check out, and then check back in and pay for the room. That is what we did. We went downstairs and checked out, and then checked back in. We were responsible for those nights.

The point is this- Because he was not fluent, I COULD NOT PURCHASE PROPERTY WITH HILTON! Is that not discrimination. I am horrified, and felt incredibly devastated for my husband. He felt horrific. Neither of us were angry. We were shocked, disappointing, and completely embarrassed. I am a ** Colombian-American. I was born in Colombia too! However, I'm **! If I had gone alone, I could have purchased this! I will be talking to a lawyer. I am so sorry for all people in this country who have to deal with this and worse!

I was booking a hotel for a work conference when I was asked at the end if I wanted to hear a deal on a great price for a New York trip. My brother lives there and just had my first nephew, so I decided to listen and purchased a stay for 2 nights 3 days in New York for $285.75 after they discounted $50 for booking in the first 45 days. That was a call with Calvin **HGV employee **.

I called to book the date and spoke to the Hilton Grand Vacation (HGV) Rep Miriam at extension ** who mentioned a $99 additional fee for weekend dates with check-in Thursday through Sunday. That was never mentioned to me when I purchased the NY stay with HGV. She said they could waive the $99 fee if she talked to her manager. I had to call back to confirm dates and when I did they said that I had to listen to a two-hour sales presentation for a timeshare during my stay in NYC. That was also never mentioned to me during my purchase.

At this point, I recognized two misrepresentations clearly made during my initial call where I purchased the two-night stay and asked for my money back. It was the final day to book and I was told there might be a $50 fee charged for booking now since it was going to be past the first 45 days since my purchase date. But Mike the rep at **, said he would submit to have the $50 waived. I checked my credit card and an additional $50 is now pending from Hilton Grand Vacations. Mike became snappy and asked why I purchased the 2 night stay and I explained that I was misled by the initial salesperson Calvin **, since he never said I had to attend a 2-hour sales presentation to purchase a timeshare or spend $99 to stay Thursday-Sunday. I never would have purchased this "deal" had I known there were extra fees for the weekend or that I had to spend two hours listening to a timeshare sales presentation during my trip to NYC.

I am shocked by how this was handled. I truly feel that it is a scam and I could not get any manager on the phone. They will say they have to "speak to their manager" and call you back and will claim to be "very honest" people. I believe this is an unfair trade practice, false advertising, negligent misrepresentation and possible fraud. I was just contacted to let me know they will be issuing me a refund in 7 days by Mike, who was the only helpful rep. We will see if it comes. If I didn't make a fuss 3 different times about the extra fees and deception, I never would've received any promise of a refund.

I talked to the high pressure salesman on the phone. He kept on telling me how wonderful everything was going to be. He failed to mention that after I paid the initial $99.00 plus tax (total $111.38) they were going to keep charging me $100 per month until I booked my dates. He told me that it was good for one year, but now they are pressuring me into traveling by 1/2019. I don't want to travel around the holidays, I wanted to travel in the Spring. I have repeatedly asked them by email to contact me with no responses. I spoke to someone on the phone who laughed at me when I told him I was no longer interested, and that they did not have permission to withdraw any more money from my bank account (but they did...another $100). I now have paid them over $200. We are senior citizens, and this scam is taking money from people with pie-in-the-sky promises - that they don't live up to. I want a refund.

I was offered a two night stay in New York city mid-town at a Hilton if I agreed to attend a two hour seminar. I specifically stated that I did not want to attend some high-pressure sales pitch. I was assured that this would be an informational session only. The lady even said something to the effect that these New Yorkers are busy and they don’t have time to sit around and try to high pressure people because there are so many people seeking the product. This was a big fat LIE!!! As soon as I saw the set up, I knew we were toast! You can tell as soon as you step in that it’s a high-pressure sales area. You actually meet with a salesperson one on one.

Once you decide that the product is crap, financially illogical, and the bull crap they try to feed you is too good to be true... You have to fight and claw your way out. They call in a closer disguised as some sort of good guy manager who’s just trying to help you see the beauty of the program, and you have to step up your claw-out game! We finally stood up and said we’re getting the hell out of here. And it takes much longer than two hours to get through their sales pitch and find your way out. The whole nightmare is not worth a night or two free at a hotel.

Updated on 04/01/2019: HGV are not honest and everything about them reeks of dung. They should go out of business due to their fraudulent business practices, as documented on this website. Management should be held accountable by the courts and the securities & exchange commission. I authored my first interaction with HGV back on October 16, 2018 and will not repeat that here. I was told and promised on the certificate I rec'd after attending the seminar that I would receive a $200 rebate for staying at the Homewood Suites. We stayed in this accommodation in LA within the time frame and I sent in all my documentation into HGV.

And now about 2-mos later HGV via the "Rewards Center" from Coppell TX I was sent a Rebate Card for get this, $100. Blatant misrepresentation. I doubt if this Debit card even has $5 on it. Someday HGV staff that cheat individuals and tell lies when the truth would do just fine will be held accountable by Almighty God. Stay very far away from Hilton Grand Vacations. I will never lodge in a Hilton property again, and will not hesitate to let my friends know. ~d

Original Review: I don't appreciate liars, but unsubstantiated "truth" is their pro-forma response for tough questions. We were required to sit thru a 2.25-hr Hilton Grand Vacation "timeshare" presentation to pay for a suite at the Trump Hotel for 3-nights. A very, very hard sell, but informative. We were not interested in throwing away our hard-earned piso on prospective future lodging that may or may not happen. Buying made no business, financial or personal sense in light of the risk involved and given the plethora of nightmares documented on the WEB of people who "own" a deed for Hilton GV "points" (lodging) but are unable to reserve lodging for the time they need; and, those that have received pathetic customer service.

Among the lies: Hilton will never change the rules. The points will always remain the same. The points will always "buy" the same lodging. Hilton will never go bankrupt. If Hilton gets bought-out, the buyers would never amend/cancel the program. You are not smart if you don't grab this opportunity. But you must do it today. Price will go up later. There's no problem getting the dates/accommodation you want.

The sales venue reminded me of a bucket shop or a boiler room. There were at least 50 couples and 25 salesmen at individual selling stations and it was a happening-affair--limo ride to the event, food, all the staff were so jazzed etc. We were supposed to be impressed, so overwhelmed that we'd buy on the spot. They wanted us to spend more than $50K. Like one guy said, "I spend more analysis prior to purchasing earbuds." Think the staff was so giddy because they were fleecing so many ignoramuses. Salesman said 30% of the folks that walk in the door buy, if that was accurate. The primary salesman was a pro, a liar and blasphemer. The 2nd dude (manager) was as cold-eyed as I've seen and seemed out of place with a suit/tie on. The last gentleman was cordial but ready to get rid of us since we did not buy.

Me and my wife stayed at the Hilton Elara in Las Vegas this weekend. Hilton contacted my wife about a great rate on the hotel for the weekend if we went to a “2 hour” seminar for their timeshares. So we decided to try and save our money and attend the seminar. We met a guy named Tim, who was supposedly a pro golfer. He lures you in by trying to tell you that he himself owns the same timeshare he’s trying to sell you, and it’s done wonders for his family. He gave you his sales pitch, shows you around the properties, and then he gets the manager. His manager's name is Justin who is a former fireman, and he has the same package and is telling you how it saved his marriage. He pressured us to buy the $58k package because it has so many points.

They try to show you all the benefits and points you get with it. They want you to pay a minimum of $12k down with $976/mo. Not including the $1400/yr maintenance fee that goes up every year. Or you can put it all on your very own American Express credit card! With only 17% interest! What a great deal, right? If you don’t want that package, they offer two other packages. If you don’t want those packages the manager comes back and says,” oh this new package just came in and I only have one of them!” And then proceeds to tell you about even more points!

It is extremely high pressure, when I asked if I can bring the documents to my attorney, they got angry and said, “no, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity!” When you start adding up the numbers, you can actually do normal vacations for far cheaper than this load of crap. Don’t let them fool you, don’t waste your time. Run for the hills!

HUGE MISTAKE buying their timeshare! They sell you on the fact you can use your points at any Hilton hotel (which is a joke!). I was told I had enough points for a 5-7 day stay. When I tried to use my points at a Hilton hotel, I was told I only had enough for a one night stay and that points were meant to be used at select HGV resorts! They also sell you on, "It's a great investment and you can sell it back to them," (which is a lie). If you paid $11,000 for something, then try to sell it back and you're told you'd get less than $2,000! That's not an investment. It's a TOTAL SCAM!! I haven't paid my loan payment or maintenance fees in over a year. They quit calling and I maybe get a bill once a month, my credit score hasn't changed. From what I've read online and lawyers I've talked to this seems like the best option. I'd rather get foreclosed on and have my credit score drop couple hundred points than pay them any money.

I can't believe I got caught up in this bait and switch scam! After booking at a Hilton property, I was asked if I'd like to hear about vacation specials from Hilton Grand Vacations and receive points for just hearing the options. I agreed and was transferred to a salesperson. I listened to several possible destinations and the one Hawaii sounded good. The sales rep was very good, needless to say. He laid out a very specific and very compelling vacation scenario in Hawaii. He directed me to the resort website, which I looked at while on the phone.

He said the resort had been voted "the top resort in the US" and the website looked great. Consequently, I put a deposit down for the trip. However, when I received the confirmation, there was NO mention of the specific resort he described in such great detail. Apparently that Hilton Property is nearby but not part of the special and I had actually been booked for a choice of three other Hilton properties in the same general location. These places weren't nearly as nice and not even on the water.

I called Hilton within minutes of making the deposit, told them the vacation had been misrepresented and asked for a refund. The Hilton person went around and around saying I agreed to this and could not get a refund. The best they could do was reduce the cost of the deposit by booking a cheaper vacation in Orlando! I'm still out my deposit, but it's less than the original deposit.

During the phone call I checked the online reviews and noted they received a 1 star rating. After reading the reviews I informed the representative I was no longer interested in the promotion. Her tone went from very helpful and professional to aggressive. She informed me Hilton is a respected brand and I knew I was speaking to a Hilton rep as I was transferred to her, she could simply place the hold on my card which was on file. I then instructed her not to as I didn't authorize the charge, she replied "well what's the hold up"? I informed her about the one star rating online and I'd rather not waste her time or mine. She then yelled at me and hung up. So grateful for reviews, my next step to check my card.

Ask for my money back and they say no. They then say travel must be completed by 2019 or there's a $50 extra fee. Can't talk to supervisor, get hung up on when I complain. Calling Visa now to see about cancelling the charge.

I paid $280 to go to Myrtle Beach for three nights at a Hilton resort. I called the next day to book and most weekends were booked up. I chose a property only to find out I was put in a property off the beach. I had to rebook and was charged $20 to do so. The property itself was fine. The timeshare presentation was long and annoying. Just keep saying no and that you have zero interest in timeshares. The presentation really interrupted the trip and was a waste of time. We were given a $200 rebate for a future stay at a Hilton.

I just turned in my rebate only to have them try to say they are going to reimburse $100 from a room that was over $200. They don't cover taxes or fees but my room rate was 165.75. All around, I could have found a nice hotel for a few days for $280 with less hassle and more enjoyment. I read the reviews on here thank God before the presentation so I was not roped into their timeshare scam. All and All don't do it. It’s a big waste of time and was not free by any means. Now I get repeated calls about vacations from them or their partners. They must have sold my number. I am disgusted by Hilton and will never stay at another Hilton again.

After showing up time for the timeshare info seminar, the Hilton staff put us in the waiting room and we sat there for 45 minutes. I asked staff a few times if we had been forgotten and finally they rushed us over to the seminar--I explained that the 45-mins we were waiting went toward the 90-mins we had agreed to but they were very firm on making us go through the 90-min seminar regardless. I put my foot down and told them they forgot us and it didn't work for our schedule to devote over 2 hours to Hilton.

We sat through a condensed version of their seminar and after turning them down, they presented us with a "Test Drive" of their timeshare program--for $1600-ish we could buy 7 nights at one of their timeshares to see if we liked it. Do NOT do this... As a whole, it seems that Hilton's timeshare program is very limited on availability. We called in early-2018 and the soonest they could find us a room was Sept-2018... They also call you non-stop, even after you've booked your trip--it's annoying.

Now hurricane Florence is bearing down on our destination at the exact time we are to arrive and I just called about rescheduling and they said that we'll lose over half of our points on the package we already paid for if we don't re-book within 3-months--so I asked about available dates and they are already limited. So they put a deadline on their members (I am a Gold Member) to use this "test drive" timeshare deal but then they are very limited on availability. Prior to this, for years I have been a loyal Hilton member but this whole situation has me reconsidering ever using Hilton again.

During booking of Hilton Austin, I was offered an "opportunity" for a reduced cost stay vacation opportunity. Basis of the reduced cost stay was (1) 2 hour presentation, available at multiple times per day. Since my daughter recently moved to Washington, and this was an option, I selected Washington DC. The vacation package was 4 days/3 nights at one of Washington DC Hilton properties for $285.85. The specific dates of my preferred stay was discussed during my call, and was the basis of my agreement, though the specific hotel location was still optional as there are (5) in DC.

I then booked non-refundable airfare on SWA, based upon these dates. Short time afterwards, I received an email indicating, book your travel dates. During my booking, I was told that there were NO AVAILABLE PRESENTATIONS during my dates, and therefore, they could NOT honor my request. I explained that I had already booked my airfare and requested to speak to a supervisor. The individual, "Shelby **" told me "she was not available". After moments of further discussion, I requested again to speak to her supervisor, and was placed on hold for an extended time, 15 minutes or so. Eventually, Shelby returned to the call, and was told that my payment would be refunded in 5-7 days. I look forward to my refund and feel this was a scam sales tactic.

I wish I had read these reviews before I took them up on a "deal" of a vacation in exchange for going to a timeshare informational meeting. They are very upfront about letting you know that if you take their deal of a hotel stay, that you are required to attend the two hour meeting -- both me and my husband were required and we had our 2 year old with us so he had to come along as well. They make it seem like if you are not interested (which we know we were not) that we would not have to stay for the entire two hours. That was a lie.

What they do is they keep sending in higher level sales people to really put the pressure on. When we did not waver and kept saying NO, they practically pushed us out the door. Then the worst part is they give your number to anyone and everyone so I have been getting incessant phone calls from other timeshare/get away companies. It's a scam. Just don't do it. Do yourself a favor and just pay regular price for a hotel room. I'd do anything to get those two hours of my life back. Not worth it!

I am a very disappointed owner. Wife and I purchased back in July of 2016 and were excited to start taking advantage of all the benefits we were promised. The condo we were shown was super nice and had a full kitchen with everything you need to cook meals to include an oven, what we got was a two burner cooktop that one burner didn't work and the other took about a half hour to heat up enough to make runny scrambled eggs, all the dishes and pots and pans were filthy and had to be washed before using them. The laundry dryer didn't work and we had to hang our washed clothes out on the balcony to dry them.

Our condo is supposed to sleep four but only had one bed and no pullout but for a fee they would bring you up a rollout, the problem with that is there was no place to put it. We wound up buying a $20 air mattress from Walmart for our son to sleep on and his friend slept on the couch. Unfortunately What we were shown and what we got was two different things and extremely difficult to book during the times we go on vacation.

When we purchased the property we were given 19,000 RCI points to use at affiliate hotels, well, used toilet paper has more value than RCI points, yeah, you can't use them, they are junk. If you are lucky enough to find a hotel someplace you want to go that takes RCI points, they charge you a fee of $150 to use them. We however have yet to find a hotel that has any open dates and we are checking 6 to 9 months out from our time of travel. But if we check those same hotels on Booking.com or Expedia, there all kinds of rooms available and I can use my American Express points. Funny how Hilton Grand Vacations uses RCI as one of their perks to get you to buy but when you go to use the points, nothing is ever available.

I find it extremely interesting that if you wish to sell your interest, HGV says the value of your property has gone down and there is a 25% charge for buying it back but if you look at the same properties they have for sale the price is $10 to $20k more than what we purchased ours for back in 2016. Last but not least, the phone calls, the freaking phone calls at all hours of the day and night. The quickest way to turn me off to what you're selling is to annoy the living snot out of me and invade my personal life and continue to do it even after I have asked you to stop. My biggest issue is not being able to book the dates we need at the locations we want despite being almost a year out in advance.

When we went to book the trip, after paying the money, they said that this could not be done. The first lady was one of the most rude I dealt with. Second time around the guy was very helpful and said that a supervisor would review the call and get back to me by the end of the day. When that didn't happen, I have it 2 days and called back. After explaining the situation, the lady put me on hold and came back to say she would refund my money. I cannot say for sure why, but would venture to say that it was because they reviewed the call and heard exactly what I had said. Do not waste your time with this package or spending the money. I made a terrible mistake today, I simply called in to get my Hilton Honours member number. I couldn't remember it or find it in my email. I found it odd I wasn't able to have it emailed to me like a password recovery, now I know why... after being pressured to make a reservation I wasn't yet ready to make, I was simply just trying to get my membership number. I was put off. I was even asked why I was thinking of getting a room, which quite frankly, made me uncomfortable.

I finally, irritated, mentioned very strongly that I was not ready to make the reservation. She then transferred me to the horrendous grand vacation line. I was offered 500 honour points to listen, I figured why not. The guy went on and on and on. We talked about Vegas and he gave me a great price for 4 days and 3 nights. Gave me a year to book, offered 20,000 points etc, etc, etc... I said I would need to speak to my husband, he asked me where my husband was, I said, "Excuse me?" "Where is your husband now?" he asked, "Is he with you?" I replied with no, "He's at work..." and he continued to go on and on and on.

To shut this guy up, I asked if there was a cancellation fee, he said there was not. I was never told it was paid upfront and non-refundable. I also said, "Well if he doesn't want to go, I'm sure I can get a friend to come." He laughed and said well I would hope your husband would want to go with you... not once was I told it was mandatory that he did. When I read the very fine print in my email, I was and still am furious!! I called the number I was given and it all got worse. The lady said she would have to pull the recording and asked me to hold, she came back and told me that regardless of whether it was explained to me or not, it is still non-refundable. She also said that because of that, they will not be pulling the recording to review it. I asked for a copy of my recording to be sent to me, I was told that it is the property of Hilton and they would not be sending me a copy.

This disaster has already cost me $220.00 CAD and it will cost me another $50.00 USD. Never, for the rest of my days, will I ever step foot into another Hilton, and I will gladly spread the word to friends and family in hopes that they too will never spend their hard earned money in one either. Today you got the last of my money, I hope this is satisfying for you. I did the right things, I asked the right questions, this is 100% shameful. Unfortunately, I have manners and don't hang up the phone (which crossed my mind frequently with this guy on the phone). My bad, lesson learned, I'll be happy to spend my money elsewhere from here on out.

Bottom line... Save your money and stay at a hotel, an Airbnb, or VRBO as needed. I would definitely recommend NOT purchasing any kind of vacation arrangement with Hilton Grand Vacations. When we purchased our timeshare we were a Hilton Honors Platinum member. I had been doing extensive traveling and Hilton had done a good job providing service. We used our Hilton Honors points to stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki. We've not been back to Hawaii since 2014.

We've tried to arrange a stay anywhere in Hawaii with our timeshare points. We've also tried to find local accommodations here in Southern California and other locations. I have looked at dates at Parc Soleil by Hilton Grand Vacations in Orlando, the timeshare we "bought" in to. It is literally impossible to find date openings that match scheduling and/or point values. Subsequently, we haven't used any Hilton timeshare facility in the four years we have "owned" it. Ultimately a terrible investment of nearly $11,000. Save your money!!!

It has taken us to Jamaica, Hilton Head, Miami, Cancun, Las Vegas and now to Hawaii. We love all the amenities you would get at home. The girls can have their own room. We have privacy too. Most of the properties have been very nice, especially the HGV Clubs. They do a very good job keeping them up to my standards and the staff have always treated us well.

This last vacation we decided to upgrade our points at the Kingsland presentation for the new Oceans Tower. The value was too good to pass up. They also added extra bonus points, so we are going to use them to take a longer trip to France and Italy. If you like to travel this is a great program. It's easy to book our points online and also take advantage of the last minute cash too. My money goes a lot further and we are not stuck in a hotel room. Plus with the equity we will be able to leave it to our girls one day so they can continue to vacation like we have these last five years.

Was called by Hilton Honors in 2016 for a discounted weekend in Las Vegas but would have to attend a 1.5 hour presentation, it was 4 hours of wasted and harasses time. After naively purchasing a VIP package from Hilton’s presentation (believing people are truthful, moral and use their value system) we were told could easily book a vacation in NC - as long as it’s one year in advance. At the first moment of business that day (one year later), though we did try to call a few times earlier and told to we had to wait, was told property was already booked up. Got stuck in MYRTLE Beach no other option. Then after booking was told we had to attend another sales pitch or we would be charged more money (was NEVER told this in LV) another SCAM. Salesperson talked nonstop even though first thing told them was in uninterested and wanted to leave and not have either of us lose an hour of our precious time.

He tells us we are all just a numbers game and he sees 4 people a day and will sell to the rest. I sat there in silence and looked at my watch while he said we had to make small talk for 1 hour, I told him clock began when we checked in. I looked at my watch occasionally. He looked uncomfortable tried to shame me a few times in a passive aggressive manner for not allowing him to give his spiel. Was told I was aggressive though I was firm stating not interested and they told me I must stay for the full presentation. The sales rep brought in a closer and I stood firm saying NO and wanting to leave, they tried every tactic, but I countered them. Told them both not to take things personally because whatever sales rep was in front of me I would have said and done the same thing. They took it personally! What rubbish!

Was told “we are not putting a gun to your head” and “why did you come to this.” “Why are you so aggressive” (my silence stunned them) and I am a women, perhaps not use to firm and confuse it as aggression! Also since the year we purchased this product (2016) was harassed by Hilton products via phone daily, up to 5 times almost every day. Blocked the numbers and new calls appeared. Sales reps blamed The Hilton Honors, then they said something to the fact that’s the norm. Will cancel being a Hilton Honors member shortly.

When you attend the presentation they make comments how only "smart" people know that they shouldn't leave without taking the deal, and offer ridiculously easy financing. This is fine for me, because I see through the veil, but I saw many people who probably couldn't afford it, particularly foreigners, getting bullied into buying into something based on the aggressive sales tactics.

The saleswoman was getting very angry every time I challenged her and was combative asking me personal questions about my hotel history and background. I would have expected this from certain timeshare companies, but I am surprised that Hilton stoops this low. Also, the $200 Hilton credit we were promised is a scam. I called more than 10 times to try to book vacations but they didn't have time slots that fit our schedule. We finally had to book a time in NY because it's the only place they had available. Our location was the Club Hilton, blocks off Central Park. The room was a studio, didn't have a couch. The bed was a pillow top and my wife couldn't sleep because when I moved, the bed moved.

After numerous complaints, I slept on the floor. I talked to the management and they said they didn't have rooms with two beds, couldn't bring a bed in because of ordinances. They wouldn't even give me extra pillows to sleep on. I'm here for my 23rd anniversary which is today. I'm on here because I'm pissed off of their lack of customer service and concern. They have 47 hotels in NY but couldn't find a way to help us. Do yourself a favor. Look somewhere else... they don't value customers. I will no longer use any of their brands unless forced to... goodbye Hampton, Doubletree, Embassy etc. Screw me here with all the options to help, you lose me. I'm off to Priceline to buy a room I can sleep in forfeiting my package I bought.

Almost a year ago I was in Orlando with my family at a Hilton property and purchased on impulse a prepaid vacation which would have been 2 payments of 179.00, part payment made upon purchasing the vacation and the other due upon staying. We were told that we could use it in Orlando or another state, but they were pushing the newer property in Orlando. I inquired about uses in other states since perhaps we would not want to travel to Orlando at that time and the timeshare employee told us that this would be no problem and could be used elsewhere since we live in Los Angeles and might want to use it in Las Vegas. The gentleman at the Doubletree Lake Buena Vista assured me that we could and there was nothing in writing excluding this.

When I tried to book, I was told that they did not have anything available for two of the properties we asked about. I asked what dates they had available and they said they could not inform me but that I had to give exact dates. When I did, they claimed that they did not have 3 consecutive dates/days together so I asked about 2 consecutive days. They claimed they had only single days which means if I travelled to Las Vegas, I would have to pay for a hotel for a day or two and then stay one day at HGV. No. I called back today and was also told that despite my original contract stating it was for 2 adults and 2 children, I would not be able to adjust my dates and instead of traveling with a friend who was locked in to specific dates because of her job, I could not opt for another dates and bring my mom and 9 year old because the Las Vegas property would only accommodate 2 people.

Well that's not what my contract stated. I pointed out what my contract stated. So the gentleman Alex who was very polite but admitted that he was unclear what I meant indicated that this was only for the Orlando resort. So, I have been scammed out of 179.00. I was told the day before that they can extend it by 3 months for an additional 50.00 and if I want to add a person it would cost about 89.00 roughly total. What? I will cut my losses and move on. I would never buy a timeshare from them or anyone else, but now the Hilton properties have left a bad taste in my mouth and I will not stay at any.

I was not particularly angry, just expected them to honor what they promised. Do not purchase. Total bait and switch scam. Thankfully it was not more. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE A DIME. Book at a regular hotel and do not buy a timeshare. Countless number of complaints. Something that should have been simple has turned into a scam. Shame on Hilton.

This company solicited me for a "vacation package" - 3 days, 2 nights with the agreement that I would submit to a timeshare presentation at the destination (Las Vegas). I booked it and paid over the phone as it was required to make an instant decision (first mistake I made). Second, I choose a random future date knowing that I could change it after consulting with my family members about the dates (mistake #2). Well, the destination nor the dates worked for my family. So, I called back and switched the destination to Myrtle Beach.

I was required to pay additional money for the switch. I paid it (3rd mistake). My total at this point was $224.63. However, I was unable to book the dates for Myrtle Beach because I wanted a date further out than what Hilton could extend. I was told to call back. When I called back the next time, I was told the summer dates were unavailable. I said I wanted to cancel the vacation and I was willing to lose the money, because I was upset with this bait and switch tactic.

Time passed, and I called again on June 16, 2018 to request September at Myrtle Beach (realizing it would be after the busy summer). I was told that Myrtle Beach was booked through November. I was offered New York (for $309.00, and additional $84.37). And, Hilton could not guarantee where I would stay - there were at least 6 possibilities of where it might be (all Hilton properties in Manhattan). Here is where I pulled the plug and called their bluff. Hilton can keep my $224.63. Lesson learned - I was scammed/bamboozled/led astray. Hilton offers this vacation, requires one day back, and then makes it impossible for you to travel when it is convenient to you or to a location convenient for you.

Here is what I learned, Hilton cannot accommodate me for their initial solicitation, which gives me great insight into how they will treat me as an owner. NO THANK YOU. KEEP MY MONEY - you saved me a greater mistake. And by the way, I happen to be a Hilton Honors Member. I guess that's why I got the offer in the first place. Honors members are captive audiences for this gimmick. Shame on Hilton!

If they do have 2 nights available you have to pay cash instead of using your points because they require a 3 night stay, I find it interesting that they seem to have a lot of 2 night stays available. This trip to Florida we traveled with multiple families and neither family were Elite status. They were in their rooms by 230 while we sat poolside till 415. We were looking at moving up to Elite plus on this vacation but just can’t see why.

Upper level management didn’t care about a bad experience but lower level was trying hard to make things right. All week we waited for meals at the poolside for at least 60 minutes. We left after the first week and moved into Tuscany Resort and can already see the hotel needs updating. The kitchen drawers barely slide and the appliances are tired. Bathrooms are very dated.

They told me the price would only go up if I didn't buy it that day and they were giving me a package they only gave to previous owners. I believed them, then found out that wasn't true as I had friends who later went to the presentation because of me and did not want to buy. They were aggressive at selling and would give different stories based off of your situation.

I've been trying to get rid of my timeshare as it is costing me all of my hard earned money and I haven't even been able to travel with it at all. It is impossible to get ahold of them and takes 21 days for them to get back to you. Just got an email back from them saying my timeshare is only worth 1,500 to 2,000 and they would not recommend selling. Also, they would take 25% out for commission... Since I bought it for around $17,000 and still have an outstanding balance, I would have to pay a large sum to sell it. I feel like I have been tricked into a scam just because I have had great experiences with Hilton. They are clearly not the same and I wish I would have read reviews before I bought a useless timeshare from them.

I purchased a package to stay at a Hilton Grand Vacation location, however the company booked my at a random hotel instead. In June of 2017 I was sold a package for a 3 night/ 4 day stay at a Hilton Grand Vacation hotel for a low rate of $250 on the condition I attend a sales presentation during my stay. I was told I would be staying at one of two HGV locations in Myrtle Beach, SC. When I called this past April to book a reservation for this package I chose memorial day weekend because my husband is in the military and it is the only time he can get away. The sales representative I spoke to said they had a room available those dates at the Carolinian Beach resort for an extra $100 fee due to the holiday, I agreed to the fee and she made the reservation for me.

At the time I was under the impression that the Carolinian Beach Resort was one of the two Hilton Grand Vacation hotels where I was originally told I would be staying when I made the purchase back in June 2017. However, after I looked into the hotel I realized this was not one of the two HGV hotels, just a random nearby hotel. When I made this discovery I called back and spoke to another sales representative. I told him I wanted to stay at one of the two locations I was promised, either the Oceans 22 or Anderson Ocean Club. I told him I was somewhat flexible on the dates and location and we could go between now and mid July to either Myrtle Beach or the HGV in Hilton Head.

He said the earliest opening at the Myrtle Beach locations were in November. He also said the only way there were openings at the Hilton Head location was to stay in a two bedroom unit which wasn't really a possibility unless I wanted to pay an extra $150 a night. Unfortunately waiting to go in November is not an option for my husband and I due to the fact we will be moving to Japan mid July on official military orders. Frustrated but out of options I stuck with the original reservation at the Carolinian Beach Resort over the memorial weekend. The reservation number is ** to arrive 05/25/2018 and checkout 05/28/2018. I called back a few weeks later to see if perhaps there were any rooms that became available at the HGV locations but was told no and that I could check back.

Today I called again and was told once again there were no rooms available for those dates. I also asked if that was the case if we could still have access to some of the facilities at the HGV locations during are stay, such as the fitness center and the pool. However, I was told no I would only be allowed access to the facilities at the Carolinian Beach Resort. I am extremely disappointed with this whole ordeal and wish I had never purchased the package in the first place. I understand this package was an opportunity to demonstrate the type of customer service and expectations I could expect in potentially buying a timeshare with Hilton Grand Vacations.

My husband and I were good candidates for potentially buying this type of package due to the fact we travel very often for work. However I am so unimpressed with how this ordeal was handled and how it was presented. I feel I have been lied to and deceived and this is not the kind of first impression I would think the company would want to make.

Now after arriving at the hotel they booked for us I find myself even more disappointed. The hotel they put us up at is horrible! It’s 1 star compared to what I was promised. I am so upset and frustrated and I feel as though I have been scammed completely. Every time I called to ask for help, and to ask to be given what I purchased the representatives treated me with total disrespect. This is unacceptable in my opinion. My father in law is a pilot who is a very frequent Hilton customer and my mother is a travel agent and they both agree Hilton is no longer a company they will recommend.

After booking a hotel room with Hilton we were told to remain on the line for a special Hilton Honors promotion. The promotion was for 4 days & 3 nights, no blackout dates, and at any of the Hilton properties that are on their specific promotional website for $199. We chose Washington DC with the agreement that we could change the destination without a fee at anytime prior to booking. We contacted them to book our vacation only to find there were hidden costs such as paying a daily rate for parking at the hotel and also if the hotel we chose was considered by them to be a premium hotel would be extra. We viewed the site and choose a hotel in Myrtle Beach as there were no parking fees. It was January 2018 when we called and we asked if we could book in late September 2018 in Myrtle Beach. We were told yes, but we'd have to call back in late March early April as they don't have the dates of availability yet.

We called the 1st week in April only to be told they are sold out of all the September dates. We asked for other dates & were told none were available. We called back after picking a different hotel & were told the same thing. We called back at least 15 times only to speak with a different Hilton Grand Vacations rep every time we called. Each rep we spoke with gave us different & conflicting information from the other reps. What a nightmare trying to find a hotel & dates that we could get time off from work. In the end we gave up & finally told them to give us the dates that we were allowed to go and which hotel they would allow us to stay at. They said contractually they were unable to provide us with that information.

We finally asked for dates going day by day starting out 3 weeks from our conversation. Once we did this them seemed more accommodating as they wanted us in right away. Since it was 3 weeks away, they more than happily told us the name of a hotel and the dates the hotel had availability. Luckily we were able to get the time off of work. In regards to the time share vacation package, the presentation was not high pressure, the resort they showed us was nice, but the price and fees were higher than we normally would pay for a 1-2 week vacation. For us it didn't make sense to buy into their package especially if booking a vacation could potentially be as difficult as booking the trip to Myrtle Beach was.

Despite blocking the HGV phone number, they still managed to get through to me on my business phone number. When I resisted the offer of a cheap stay at a Hilton in Myrtle Beach or Orlando, they piled on enough perks for me to arrange to do some business in Myrtle Beach. I was offered my choice of HGV properties in the city, though they were pushing the DoubleTree. I made the reservation in August of 2017, and was told it was “too early” to confirm, and that I should call back in November to a specific extension. When I called in November, the phone extension was not working. In March of 2018 HGV contacted me to confirm my stay and told me I was booked into the DoubleTree. When I stated that my first choice had been another (premier) property, I was told they could fit me in, but I would have to pay $60 per day valet parking (which had NOT been mentioned in the "you can stay in any of these hotels" pitch).

It was a clear Bait-and-Switch. I then opted to stay with the DoubleTree. The property is a dump—room dirty, linens of poor quality, maid service cursory at best, room service food arrives in a take-out box at standard Hilton prices. I had to leave the patio doors open 24/7 to alleviate the smell in the room. Moldings were broken and the institutional furniture was chipped and in bad condition. I had political graffiti scrawled on my car in the guests-only covered garage two nights in succession. I received a “you must attend the sales meeting” message from HGV three nights in a row at 1:15 a.m. Following instructions to delete the message from the system did not work, and although management assured me it would be removed, it was not. I was waked at 1:15 a.m. by a buzzing phone EVERY NIGHT.

The sales presentation—stated in writing on my reservations contract not to exceed 2 hours—is rigid and personnel deliberately obfuscate prices. When I told the rep exactly what portions I would be interested in, she repeatedly told me I had to go through the entire written script. I told her I had a recent knee injury and would find the walking tour difficult, and she again said I had to participate. Keep in mind if they don’t mark you as released, you automatically pay full rack rate for your stay. I was told there was an elevator—yes, but after having to go downstairs to get to the street and walk across to the building. The rep apparently thought she was portraying herself in a positive light by saying that she had made an elderly woman who could hardly walk take the tour by "walking real slow".

The cost of the median program in approximately $51,000 (with closing costs) with a minimum down payment of over $11,000. The yearly HOA—which increases a minimum of 1% per year—amortized over 30 years is an additional approximately $39,000. If you bring this up, you receive additional obfuscation or “I’m not a numbers person” comments. After you tell the sales rep “no”, they bring in a manager (again, they don’t release you). The manager pulls another hard sell. After remarking that the HGV presentation resembled a Scientology pitch, I tried to get out of it by saying I was not interested at this time, maybe next year. HUGE mistake. I was then taken to a British woman who presented a bogus “Price freezing” plan in which HGV takes $1800 for 7 days stay at one of a limited number of resorts in return for a “price freeze” for 18 months.

After REPEATEDLY saying NO and being argued with and again comparing the badgering to a Scientology pitch (twice), I then had to argue for the exact benefits I had been promised. All told, I was kept 3 ½ HOURS. I had been the only single female in the group—which I do not find coincidental; the parking lot was empty when they finally “released” me. The final hour of badgering to the point of abuse has not only turned me against HGV, but has turned this lifelong Hilton Honors member completely against the hotel chain. Whatever they offer you, it's NOT WORTH PARTICIPATING.

We are original owners at the Hilton Club NY since 2002 (we were one of the first couples to purchase and had our name with others on a plaque in the owners' lounge). We paid $11,000 for our original ownership and paid the mortgage off early. We enjoyed our stays at the timeshare when we went into NYC. In 2015 we went in for an anniversary weekend and were approached by a sales team member who said they had a special offer only for original members. They told us that we could upgrade our timeshare to a deeded one for much less than the price that would be offered for general sale. This was only offered to original owners (we were told). They showed us what the timeshare was worth and told us they would buy back the original ownership for the amount we paid and apply that towards the new contract in addition to increasing our annual points and a 2 week bonus points.

We were told it would be a great investment since we were getting it at much a much lower retail price. We were sold. Unfortunately, we come to find out 3 years later that the timeshare is not worth what they told us, it is now much much lower than our mortgage and we are losing money every month we keep it. If we sell it back they take a whopping 25% commission (this is ridiculous). We feel absolutely deceived. By the time the mortgage is paid we will have paid 2 times more than it is worth. We have looked into selling ourselves but a reputable real estate agent told us it is only worth half of what we want to sell for. It seems we are stuck and will be out a huge amount of money.

I do not understand how resorts are able to get away with this. These sale tactics have to be illegal???? They are deceiving people out of their life savings and what they thought was an investment. The annual fees are climbing and now it is at the point where we can get the same rooms on travel websites for less than what we pay in annual fees. We are at a loss as to what to do. We will never ever buy into timeshare again. If anyone is in the same situation and thinking of pursuing legal action please feel free to contact me.

Called my Hilton Honors to book hotels then I get a transfer to the Hilton Grand Vacation agent on a promotion and just for listening to I get rewarded 500 points. I booked the Hilton Grand Vacation in LAGOON TOWER BY HILTON GRAND VACATIONS CLUB June 22, 2018, for 6 days and 5 nights for $699 plus tax, 5000 points, $200 to use on any other Hilton hotel plus 2 Luau. Prior paying I asked them to confirm if the dates were available for the suite they offered. They confirmed it several time on the phone. They took the credit card details and the deposit. 60 minutes later I called back to confirm the dates as I booked the flights for 4 from Montreal to Honolulu.

Called the 1888 885 9533 to confirm and I was told the dates were not available and there was nothing available in the system for the last couple of weeks. Getting a refund on the Hilton Grand Vacation but the disappointment to my kids is the worst part besides having to cancelled my flights and trying to get a refund from the airline. Always been wary with telemarketing companies and never used them. It never crossed my mind that Hilton would be associated with such misleading telemarketing organizations and promo it.

In 2017 I made a reservation at a Hilton property and at the end of the call I was informed I qualified for a special price promotion of 3 nights and 4 days at a Hilton Resort-- I could choose from several locations. I was planning a trip to Washington, DC so I ask for more details. I was informed that if I prepaid for the package I could use it any time in the next year. I placed the charge on my CC. Several months later I called to book my trip and was told there were no accommodations to call again in 6 weeks. I waited a few months and called to book and was informed I would need to bring my spouse with me. WHAT!!! My marital status is NONE of your business. I was told because this was a promo to sell TIMESHARES that I MUST bring my spouse. I tried to cancel-- made it clear that my marital status is NONE of their business but to no avail. I will NOT use Hilton properties in the future.

I've never bought these timeshares... Never would. Got caught in a moment of weakness just before Xmas 2016 - after a call with HHonors about some account issues. They asked if I'd 'just listen to a 5 min recording; and get 1,500 free HHonors points'. Ended up being a short recording about HGV, followed by an agent who continued with the sales pitch. I then paid $200 for a 'too-good-to-be-true' package in Orlando: 4 nights stay in family suite for 5. 15,000 bonus HHonors points upon stay. 2 person, 4 days, 3-night all-inclusive cruise out of Orlando within 6 months following the family stay. 1 free night at any Hilton in US awarded after the family booking. Sounds great, huh?

First tried booking a stay over Memorial Day weekend 2017 - with only 2-3 weeks' notice. Sorry, no family rooms available. (fair enough. suppose I WAS pretty last-minute)... Except: I could look online and find SEVERAL available family rooms - even at their 'HGV-specific' hotels. ('Yes. but not THOSE ones, sorry. OH - you DID see some online? Let me check. Hmmm... no, must have just missed it.' - Me: 'Umm... No; I just searched again and there it is!') Gave up on that trip and tried again later in the year - same result.

During this time; the agent would call me at random times in the middle of my workday. I have a very busy job with lots of meetings. When I would accidentally answer the call - not knowing who it was or if urgent - then realize it was them and tell them I was in the middle of a meeting - they would HARASS me to just stay on the line a few minutes so they could HELP ME book MY VACATION! I would ask if they could call me back after 5PM - but no - "Sorry, I'm only available during business hours" (MY WORK HOURS). After the 2nd failed attempt; I basically gave up - and hey: they stopped calling.

After the 1-year booking window expired (having failed to ever find availability at their hotels when I wanted to go); they called me up one random Tuesday and offered me ONE LAST CHANCE to SAVE MY DEPOSIT! For $49, they could (GRACIOUSLY!) extend the booking window by 6 months - or EVEN BETTER DEAL: for $99; they'd give me ONE WHOLE EXTRA YEAR!!! But... It was a LIMITED TIME OFFER!!! - and I had to decide to pay THAT DAY ONLY. Stupidly; I actually considered this for a minute. "Hmm... Maybe I CAN somehow save (most of) this wasted 'deposit' - and actually deliver on the trip I'd promised my family for the last year. I'll need to speak to my wife to see if we have a window in the next 6 months where we can go away."

Agent called me next day at 2:55. After that, I gave up. Several weeks later; Agent just called me again - wanting to talk about MY VACATION. Me: "If you are going to tell me that I have to pay more money to 'extend the window' - for a period over which you'll likely then tell me 'it's not available' - don't bother." Agent: "Oh. You don't want to pay to extend? Ok thanks - we'll just cancel and keep your deposit then." This whole experience was a total scam. Not only do I warn everyone to avoid HGV - I will personally avoid ever staying at a Hilton Hotel again - unless it is my absolute ONLY option.

Very bad experience. The sales person basically lied. And when I called Hilton back, they said another thing and asked me to pay when I want to switch destination. I told them, it was not like this and asked them to pull the phone record, then they put me on hold for couple minutes, and came back saying that no matter what was said in the phone call, you have to pay to switch. WTF, is like they admit that the salesperson can lie to get money and fooled customer!!! Then why bother recording. THIS IS COMPLETE BS. Terrible terrible bs. So I asked for the refund and hopefully it will be returned.

Here are some background to this story. So I booked Hilton using my point then they transferred me to this timeshare vacation deal pitch basically. I know about this kind of promotion because I have done it before at other hotels and it was ok. So I listened. Then the guy keep pushing me to buy saying that for $99 I can booked anywhere from Orlando, Park City Utah, Vegas and Myrtle Beach for 4 nights. He mentioned I will get $200 credit after the stay and I had to do 2 hours tour. I kept saying I can't decide then he said he will give me 5000 Hilton points on top. Then I asked, so what is the expiration, he said March 2019.

He also said that he will put as Orlando then later on I can freely change this to any other destination he mentioned. Then, I agree... Little that I know this was deceiving and Hilton won't honor this sales pitch. Anyway super bad experience. PLEASE DON'T EVER BOOK THIS STUPID VACATION THINKING THAT YOU GET A DEAL. I just want to give everyone warning, that's all.

My family and I stayed at the Hilton Orlando hotel. I got a 4 day, 3 night stay for $99 plus points and a $200 print out voucher which I was told was going to be $200 cash. It was not. The salesman Abraham was nice and the pitch with Mike was fun but we didn’t want to buy. The deal that was being offered was too good to be true. The information presented to us had "fine print" that a buyer would not see until contract was signed. Also, the back and forth car dealer routine. All the pacing Ab did, stating that he worked hard to get us a “deep discount” and returning with a paper full of predetermined calculations that was obviously standard was hysterical. There was no way you go from $39k to $12k in 30 minutes. The hotel we stayed at was nice and new but far away from the presentation hotel.

If we stayed at that hotel, we would have purchased the $1,700 rental package because the apartments were beautiful. Yes, Ab’s manager tried to sell us a timeshare after Ab couldn’t and then offered us a $1,700 rental package. We had to pay for an Uber to and from to go to the presentation! Not happy about that. There was slight pressure to buy. I can see why some people get roped in. You want the “deal”, don’t want to disappoint the person “helping” you get the deal but stay STRONG. They let my husband and I discuss. We walked out with $200 free night which we picked the brand of hotel and have 6 months to use plus my bonus points. We will never consider purchasing. There is no real deal to be had here.

You cannot get it back. No matter what happens. If the dates change or you'd like to switch where you're going, they will make it sound easy but it won't be - things won't be open on those dates. You'll need to argue. They will arbitrarily charge you more money to keep your reservation open. And ultimately, you will continue to get phone calls and emails from them until you block their numbers. If I could give this business negative stars I would. Here's the thing, in order to enjoy your HGVC ownership, you have to LOVE to travel, be flexible, plan ahead for the best weeks/resorts and not buy from Hilton. I got into timesharing in 1991 with my first resort in Fort Lauderdale - which is not with Hilton. I decided to purchase with Hilton in 2011 at one of their properties in Las Vegas. I purchased this unit from a trusted seller on eBay for a LOT less than they were selling directly from the resort. When I went to the resort the lady there told me I would not be allowed the same trading options as if I had purchased from the resort - not true. I get the same exact benefits as any HGVC member. In 2013 we received one of the special deals to go to Myrtle Beach to check out their new resort, Anderson Ocean Club. After viewing the resort, we did decide to buy and 10 grand later we walked out with a shiny new timeshare.

I own every other year at the resort in Vegas (even years) and every other year at the resort in Myrtle Beach (odd years). It's a BIG mistake to buy from the resort. They give you free "bonus" weeks to use, but it's not worth it in the long run. If you want to own at Hilton, or any other resort for that matter do your homework. Don't buy at a resort in Hawaii - the maintenance fees are crazy! You can still trade out with Hilton to go to Hawaii while paying half of what you would to purchase in Orlando or Vegas. You can also purchase a one bedroom unit and trade it out for a larger size. We combine our points and use them every other year to get a larger, premium unit (example - next year we combined our points to stay a week at the new Oceans 22 in Myrtle Beach in the penthouse, THREE bedroom, ocean front unit).

After my first timeshare purchase, I was very reluctant - but I have been able to use my week thru RCI to travel all over the world to the most amazing places I might not have otherwise been able to do. If you want to own, just do your homework and get the biggest bang for your buck. Hilton has amazing properties. We are super glad we own with them and enjoy spending time with friends and family at their first class resorts. Good luck and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I’m a Hilton diamond member and got offered a 3 day deal at the end of one of my calls. I thought - why not? I travel and it was a great deal. I paid the fee and told them I would plan my travel at my earliest convenience. The stalking started shortly after and never stopped. They called, and called, and called. I was at a Hilton hotel in South Beach and a representative found me at the pool and tried to get me to book. I finally booked something for Vegas and went through the hard sell, wearing even them down. I left, and the phone calls kept coming. I had to block their numbers, and then they just started calling from other prefixes.

Almost 2 years later I answer an unknown number while waiting for Lyft, it was Hilton Grand Vacations. When I told the guy I didn’t have time to talk, he HUNG UP ON ME. To this day, I get calls almost daily, from numbers all over the US, that are linked to HGV. I’m extremely disappointed that Hilton has their name tied to this. Best advice? DON’T EVER SIGN UP.

A biggest mistake a consumer can make is to buy timeshare with Hilton Grand vacation and there are the reasons. From Financial perspective, you may pay more than $10K for purchasing the timeshare. You must also pay more than $1K annual fee (which will give you annual points for staying in a resort for several days). You then pay additional booking fee, if you want to stay in a different property from your timeshare property (do you want to stay in the same resort every year?). If you cannot use your annual points for vacation for that year, you pay additional fee to save your points to use the next year or convert them.

From practical perspective, it is extremely difficult to book reservation for the location of your choice, if you need to go on vacation during school breaks, because too many timeshare owners are trying to book the same location and they have priority over you because they own the timeshare in that location or they paid a lot more to Hilton.

From the perspectives of a timeshare owner: People who do not own timeshare are treated better because they can reserved the resort that you want by Simply paying as a resort guest without the annual fee and upfront purchasing fee. You, as the owner, cannot book the resort because it is not available to owners at the time when it is available to public. You already paid the annual fee, but cannot reserve the resort at the time you want unless you pay the daily rate on top of your annual fee. To be honest and fair: If you want to live in the same resort every year and have the financial flexibility to pay for the timeshare purchase and annual fee, it may not be too bad to either invest (the sales pitch) or waste (your logical reasoning) some money and frustration on Hilton Timeshare. Good luck.

"I recently reviewed your account with Hilton Grand Vacations and unfortunately it would not be very beneficial to sell your timeshare interval at this time. Based on resale market analysis we believe your timeshare will resell for approximately $3,000 to $4,000. There is also a 25% commission due at the time of sale. As your loan balance is currently $17,807.30, selling the timeshare at this time would mean that you would have to pay a large sum of money out of pocket. I am a Hilton Honors member. I recently received a three night vacation for $329.00 at the Orlando Hilton for listening to a ‘vacation’ presentation. My cousin accompanied me, and we are both in our 70’s. We had a wonderful room, a delightful stay. We went to our two hour presentation at another Hilton Vacation hotel. We were given donuts, juice and coffee. Our ‘vacation’ rep took us to hear a presentation by Mike, and he was very personable and quite funny. Then our sales rep guided us to a small cubicle and made an informative presentation about Hilton Vacation Shares. She was very nice. At no time did my cousin or I feel pressure.

When we said ‘no’, she left, and another rep came and gave us another offer. It was a one time package for $1,700 plus. Actually, it was a fair price for a week’s stay at an upscale Hilton. The only reason that I didn’t buy it was because I often stay at a nearby resort for less. Overall, the salespeople were polite, informative and non aggressive. If I had been ten years younger, I would have bought one of their vacation packages. I don’t travel as much anymore. However, I can say honestly that my hotel stay and the vacation presentation was a positive experience. By the way, I received a $100.00 reimbursement voucher for when I stay within the next six months at a Hampton Inn, as well as 15,000 Hilton Hotel points. Overall, a positive experience!

All of these reviews contain the same complaints. How Hilton Grand Vacations is still operating as-is is beyond me. Apparently they could care less about all of these complaints. I sat thru a presentation on 12/8/17. And, I signed. I signed because it seemed as if it would be a great option for me. I love to travel. The destination choices are almost limitless. I did some math (with the numbers they presented) and the math worked out in my favor. However, they DO NOT present all of the information to you and they DO NOT present all of the numbers to you.

The details are buried deep in the bowels. It was day 5 (since signing) and I decided to really dig deep into understanding what I had just purchased. First off, they told me that an average stay would cost 220 points. At the presentation, I ran the numbers in front of the rep and said 'Wow, that's almost 15 nights - that sounds great'. He confirmed my calculation. However after looking at the fee schedule for their properties - nope, 220 is NOT an average per night cost. I thought I would be getting 2 weeks but instead it was more like 1 week. Then when I took into account all of the fees to book, change, move points, (WHO CHARGES FEES TO USE WHAT YOU BOUGHT???) and the yearly maintenance fee and read reviews regarding the difficulty in using the program I decided that I needed to get out of this ASAP. I was at work.

I told my manager - I need to leave - now. I ran home, got the contract, found the contract rescission form letter, faxed it in and also sent it via FedEx Overnight just in case they claimed that they never received it. I am so glad that I caught my mistake in time to cancel (you have 5 calendar days - at least that's what my contract stated). Also, as others have mentioned, I never received the $200 voucher. When I contacted my salesperson he stated 'I put it in your owner's bag for you'. Sorry, dude - you did not. And, apparently this is standard operating procedure. SHAME on HILTON!!! I put the entire cost of the program on my new Amex Hilton. Per the rescission laws, they have 20 days to return my money. I am hoping and praying that they do that. We shall see.

Once in the back with the sales guy he stated that "Today I will not ask for any money"!! 2.5 hours later he was asking for 37,000.00 dollars for 8400.00 points!! I’m like, “Hmm I thought you were not going to ask for any money??” I then looked at some less expensive plans and got down to the 15K range and I was actually thinking about it. What kept me from moving forward was the loaded sales pitch!! I just felt Hilton was trying their best to sell me some BS that would not work for me!!

I said I would like to think about it and we were staying at the hotel and I could let them know something today… Well, they said I had to make a decision cause they tour 100 people a day we they needed to know now and that's where they lost me. They could have offered me 10k cash and I still would have turned it down. In a nutshell, Hilton is not trying to save you money on anything. I am glad I read the reviews on this place cause it seems no one is getting what they are actually sold and that is unfortunate! If there were negative stars I would have given them a negative score. Do yourself a HUGE favor and do not EVER purchase a timeshare with this company. We went on a paid trip sponsored by this company and met a very nice saleswomen. She did a great job convincing us to purchase a timeshare, WORST DECISION WE HAVE EVER MADE. We purchased (and paid in full) August of 2017. We are doing everything we can to use the points and sell this terrible investment. I can't hit all of the negatives but I will start with everything you attempt to do has a fee. If you have unused points at the end of the year you have to pay a fee to roll them over, every time you make a reservation at one of HGVC resorts you have to pay a fee, If you paid to roll over your points until the next year and you cannot use them you lose them.

If you were given "bonus" points you cannot use those points with your normal yearly points. You have to make two separate reservations and guess what? Pay TWO reservation fees. So for example, if you have 1K bonus points and 500 regular points and you are trying to make a reservation for a HGVC timeshare for 1500 points at a certain resort for 7 days. You have to spend your bonus points for a 4 day reservation and use your 500 points for a 3 day reservation. You would think you could use the 1K bonus points for 5 days and use your 500 points for two days of the reservation to use all of your bonus points but you have a 3 day minimum to make any reservation. No exceptions. It is a total scam. Again, I will say that our saleswomen did a fantastic job of selling the timeshare.

We went in and did no homework on timeshares because there was no way we were going to purchase one. There is nobody to blame but ourselves for letting the saleswomen con us into purchasing this timeshare. If nothing else leads you to believe that this is a horrible company this should do it. I have called and emailed HGVC referencing selling our timeshare. The response for both email and phone call stated that due to a high volume of customers attempting to sell their timeshares they will not be able to get back to for 21 DAYS! They are either full of ** (more likely) or there are sooo many people regretting their purchase of a HGVC timeshare that it truly takes them 21 days to return a phone call or email. Either way it sums this company up perfectly. They don't care about you after they have your money. If you absolutely feel the need to purchase a timeshare do yourself a favor and don't purchase one from Hilton.

On my yearly statement there is a voluntary fee for ARDA whatever that is. At the bottom of the statement it states that if the amount is not paid in full there will be a $50 charge. I have asked them to take it off the statement and they will not. The last 2 years they have sent me an email after me calling 3 to 4 times stating that they are waiving the voluntary fee but this year they say there is no way they can send me an email. The supervisor is telling me to just short the payment and it will be ok. I bet most people don't even see this and just pay it.

They make you believe it is a great deal but it is NOT!! Wow, this company is a scheme. They WILL jerk you around after you have signed up and you immediately will regret ever taking their call. From the start they make you promises like free meals or vouchers and then they yank them away saying "oh we did not promise that" or "oh that only applies to this other package." Be forewarned... Please.

As just ONE example, I was promised a $100 voucher toward a park (AFTER I was promised a $200 dollar meal voucher on top of the $200 toward a future stay... And they said "oh that only applied to this other package in a different city...) I went to redeem the voucher before purchasing the park ticket and, when I asked the front desk how and where I should do that, they instructed me that I was actually supposed to purchase the full ticket from the Disney shop in the building and then once I finish the "tour" I would get a certificate that I would submit to get a rebate.

Well, I finish my "tour" the day after I go to the park and they tell me that it does not work that way... And that I will not get that rebate that way. I then call the Hilton Grand Vacations folks to try to remedy the situation (you'll notice a theme of "pass the blame to someone else in the company... And make the customer do all the work to fix it) and they say it is the hotel's fault and I need to talk to them to see what they can do. WOW... Basically "you fix it, we can't help you." I called the front desk and no answer... MULTIPLE times. Seriously, if you want to be treated like crap then go ahead and sign up for their scheme. But, please, from one consumer to the next, I hope you stay FAR away.

We called to make a reservation in a Hilton Hotel when we were on vacation in Ireland. They then referred us to a sales line saying you can get extra points if you buy a vacation package. Since we know we are going to be traveling a lot in the future and they had a package for date and time for one of our vacation we decided to purchase it because they said we could hear their sales pitch at anytime during that stay. In booking the package which took 1.5 hours, it was scheduled for 3 nights 4 days. We received an email from them asking us to confirm the reservation. My husband called and they said we had to listen to their sales pitch at 1 pm in the afternoon on Friday.

We said that time does not work for us and asked for another. They also changed our reservations to 2 nights and 3 days which is not what we had previously discussed. They were not willing to work with us on either issue. We had to cancel the reservations. They are suppose to refund me which, I looked in my checking account they charged me $19.95 to do and still have not refunded me? This has caused us a huge inconvenience to find another place to stay. Not only did they lose our potential business (like I said we will be doing a lot of traveling in the near future), but they lost my trust in the company. I am not sure I want to be a Hilton Reward Member or stay at their hotels I am really not impressed. During our 17 day travel in the UK we only stay at Hiltons.

After trying to cancel a hotel stay at a Hampton Inn. I was asked if I would like to speak to someone about getting a credit. I agreed and was transferred to another operator who sold me hard on putting down $250 toward a vacation that would give me all this free stuff if I used it within 6 months... yes, I did it :( Well, circumstances and illness made it so that we couldn't take that vacation within the six months so I was sent this email:

“My name is Genesis **, your reservation agent with Hilton Grand Vacations. Thank you for purchasing a great discounted getaway with Hilton Grand Vacations. I noticed your getaway has expired with $249.00 on file and I would like to go over some renewal options and/or location swap with you so you can still utilize your getaway instead of it forfeiting out. Please contact me as soon as possible before the opportunity ends and you lose out on your getaway as well as the money you have placed on file. I am in the office Monday-Friday 2pm-9pm EST. I am looking forward to speaking with you, Please do keep in mind my invitation for this time sensitive opportunity will only be valid for the next 48 hours. Have a Grand Day!”

When I called they said I could still have my credit IF I spent an additional $250 that day!! What?! They are holding my money hostage. They won't even give me a credit for just staying at a Hilton hotel. I HAVE to spend more money or I will "forfeit" my money on file. I said I wouldn't be spending more money. 2 months later I get the EXACT same email. I let them know I would be contacting my lawyer. They responded that they have me on "voice recording" agreeing to the forfeiture. PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS TRAP. I trusted them because Hilton/Hampton sent me to them. Huge mistake.

I received a call from the Hilton Grand Vacations describing this "great deal" to book a vacation at any time I please for only $249 for a 3 nights 4 day vacation in Orlando. The woman, Kelly, was very good at her sales script and would not let me interrupt her, saying my name about 60 times during the call, and also making sure I knew that the line was recorded another three times. I was being polite and letting her finish, keeping me on the phone for over 40 minutes. I declined the special 4 times throughout the call and she would not let me off the phone.

Eventually she started yelling at me asking if the fact that I didn't want to give her my credit card information and that I was not interested in a vacation at the moment were the "ONLY ONLY reason" I didn't want to take advantage of the offer. I kept trying to explain that she was not going to convince me and that I was going to dinner. I had to just hang up because the screaming was so loud.

I understand if she's giving me a reason that my excuse is invalid because that is a well known sales technique but after declining four times she should have gotten the message. I was convinced it was a scammer who had obtained my information and just wanted to steal my credit card information until I read these other reviews. Thank God I didn't give in to her intense pressure.

Almost all of the comments below, I was informed of by our agent. I found them to be very flexible within the guidelines that was given up front. The hotel we stayed in was wonderful! My three kids had the time of their life. The tour was only 2 hours. There was no pressure to buy. They let my husband and I discuss. We walked out with what was promised. $200 free night which we picked the brand of hotel and have 6 months to use plus my bonus points. We are definitely considering purchasing in the future. Again just listen, read, and ask questions. We love it!

I am going to try to sum this up. I firstly would like to mention the Hilton Rose Hall in Jamaica where I stayed was/is fabulous. One of the best low key all inclusives. I Highly recommend. In July, while staying in my family home in Jamaica, I called the Hilton property that is near to my location after researching reasonable well rated all inclusives. They transferred me to Hilton reservations to book our room. After doing so, they informed me I was selected to receive a promotional offer. I casually agreed. They informed me I could choose either Orlando or Las Vegas, 4 day stay for $150 US. They did explain I would have to attend a 2-hour presentation.

They also told me it was good for up to 4 people but 2 of them would have to be myself and my husband. Fine. They also told me, I would receive an additional $200 credit for an American Hilton hotel. They told me I have 1 year to book. I agreed to let them charge my card to "lock in the deal" on the promise they would email me all the details and follow up once I returned to Canada.

Shortly after my return the following month, I received a call from David at Hilton Vacations. I explained I saw my card was charged but hadn't received one single email from them. He said that was strange and that he would get right on it. Note as I write this on Oct 10th I still have never received a single document. Then he changed his tune when I asked to book Orlando for 4. Myself, husband and 2 kids. All of a sudden he is "unable to find accommodations" for 4 people.

I had stressed on the initial call if children were allowed as we have 6 children but 2 of them are very young and would most likely travel with us. I was assured that young children were allowed. So no room for 4. Then I said, "Ok fine." How about mid February for our anniversary. Oh yes! That is perfect... except one catch... according to David, that is an American holiday weekend therefore I am now subject to a "premium". *rolls eyes*

He quotes me like $130 or more and I told him, "No thats ridiculous." He tells me he is going to put me on hold (I am an escalations manager, this is a sales ploy) comes back and tells me his "supervisor" agreed to lower it to $65 plus tax. Fine. I agreed but also explained and stressed I still need documentation and details of the stay in writing and what our obligation was. Nothing. Zero. Now I can't get a hold of "David" and have initiated a dispute with my credit card bank. I may end up having to eat over $300 Canadian for this which is so unfair. I mostly feel stupid, gullible and scammed.

Of course, presentations like that don’t have the best of reputations, but we approached it with an open mind. A lot of people on here have described “high pressure” sales techniques. We heard people at the pool complaining about the same thing. That wasn’t our experience. We had a very pleasant discussion about the Grand Vacations program. I’m not an impulsive buyer, so we didn’t end up signing up. But they made the point several times that we make a decision that makes sense for us. It’s difficult to know whether the complainers on here had more aggressive sales staff or whether they didn’t approach the experience with an open mind. I just know we are strong enough people to say no if we weren’t interested and we didn’t feel at all bullied to sign on. We would still consider such a program in the future.

I have been a Hilton H Honor member for years because I used to travel a lot for work. Sometimes in 2016, I called Hilton to make a reservation and they told me about this "great" deal where I can lock in a 2 nights stay in NYC for 499+tax. On top of that, I can get the voucher to Royal Caribbean that's worth another $499. All I had to do was to pay 249 that day, and then the remaining when I book my vacation. And... Booking is only a phone call away. Everything sounds so easy and convenient that it's too good a deal to pass. Of course I signed up and gave them my credit card. Here's what happened:

Instead of charging me 249 as discussed, they charged me the whole thing of 499+tax. I have to call to call back so that they would honor the terms as discussed. When making the reservation, they told me about 99 additional "weekend" fee when I checked in on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Clearly, it was a surprise to me because they didn't bring it up when trying to sell me the great deal. I tried to tell them it's unfair since I wasn't made aware of, and they told me it's covered when they said "additional fees may apply". I guess I should be glad it's only $99 and not another $499 "additional fee" in this case.

During the course of discussing the weekend fee, they made me feel like they are handing out free food for homeless people, that I should be happy when I can get a room. The attitude is definitely different from the people that sold me the "deal". They are NOT flexible at all when it comes to booking the touring time. It cannot be the day when I check in and out. And, they told me they can put me in the 9:30 spots which ended up being 11:30 and NOPE there is no way they can help me out there.

So... I am paying the airfare, and 499 plus tax, to go to NYC to tour their property during prime time when I should be having my vacation. Makes absolutely no sense to me. I really can't see the deal I am getting here. I have not attended the touring when this review is written and I am very skeptical in the Royal Caribbean thing they promise because one thing I learned about them is they are not flexible, they are not what they say they are, and they have extensive fine prints. If the process of booking the tour is already difficult and unpleasant, how can I convince myself this Grand Vacation timeshare will be great for me. I am literally flying myself there at my own expense, pay for the hotel at a slightly discounted rate. This is probably the worst travel decision I have made ever, and I truly regret it. Want to share here so that less people fall into this trap. Really wish I had visited this site before I pay for the "great" deal.

I booked a vacation to NYC via Hilton Grand Vacations and was promised 5000 Hilton Honor Points and $100 to spend in NYC while there. My husband and I attended the 2-hour presentation and were very interested in the Penthouse Suite, which would have cost us $133,000. Now comes the good part. They wanted us to put the amount of the purchase on our credit card so that we could obtain Sky Miles for the purchase. No way to finance a purchase of that size; we walked away, needless to say.

Now it is 10 days past our departure and we STILL have not received the promised 5000 points, NOR the points for staying at the hotel. I have made several phone calls. I talked to Amanda at Hilton Grand Vacations. She said points should be there in 5-7 days. No points. I talked to Sandy who was very helpful and transferred me to Bianca, in the management division. I was on hold for approximately 10 minutes and suddenly found I was disconnected. I called back and asked to speak to Bianca. I was on hold again, and the man who answered came back on the line saying Bianca had "taken care of it". I guess she didn't feel it necessary to speak directly with me. So far the points are not there, but I will check in an hour.

DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING THROUGH HILTON GRAND VACATIONS. They do not communicate with Hilton Club, (who was responsible for trying to sell the timeshare), nor the Hilton Hotel Chain. IT IS A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. While we had a good time on our trip, the hassle and the runaround from Hilton Grand Vacations, and the way they do business puts a bad taste in our mouths. As sometimes happens, things take place that cause you to change your vacation plans, sometimes more than once a year. This package is good for 6 months and then you pay $99 to extend it in 6 month increments, which then turns into 3 month increments if it happens too many times. I could have taken a 5 day vacation a short drive away for less than it cost me to re-up this "vacation" that is nothing more than a stay in the on-site hotel (usually not the most comfortable stay at that), a 1+ hour presentation of timeshares that few people truly want. Yes a lot of things happened in the 3 years I continued to try to take this vacation, but it cost me more than a 4 nights stay at a hotel. At least I saved the airfare.

I am so happy I read the Consumer Affairs reviews on buying a Hilton Grand Vacation Rental timeshare! Thank you Consumer Affairs. I read both the positive and negative reviews and found them to be very accurate. The Timeshare sales people are very persuasive and want you to sign immediately. I was ready to sign, but my husband wasn't. We wanted time to discuss the purchase between the two of us, to think it over, which the sales people do not encourage. They know once you leave the sales office, you most likely will not buy the product (and there is a reason). We left the sales office and then discussed the pros and cons. One of the cons that the sales staff does not go into detail about is the annual maintenance fee. It increases every year, so on the surface it looks like you will be saving money owning a timeshare.

However if you take into account the increasing maintenance fee costs, you may not be saving money. (We verified this with my in-laws who owned a timeshare and eventually got out of it.) It might costs the same as staying at a hotel, but you are locked into staying at their hotel for the rest of your life. If you always want to stay at a Hilton Brand for the rest of your life, this may be the right purchase for you. Also, you are not guaranteed to get the weeks you want. I tried a trial membership and bought one week of a timeshare. After trying to book it for two years, I was never able to get the dates I wanted. I like variety, I have kids and am restricted when I can travel, and will shop for the best deal. A timeshare was not a good fit for my lifestyle.

This correspondence serves as official notification that we, Murray and Martha **, are formally initiating steps to dissolve our relationship with Hilton Grand Vacation Club. As we reflect on the entire experience of dealing with this company, it is apparent to us, as we have found via research also others that the entire operation is a nothing less than an incredible, slick and dishonest marketing scheme. A scheme which employs market deception from the time of contact to the very timing and execution of closure.

In early 2016, we began receiving weekly calls, often daily calls, from representatives of this organization. Because we have caller identification, we were able to recognize the toll free calling number and chose not to answer these calls. Clearly, the marketing approach changed and representatives began calling from what appeared to be local numbers of which we were more likely to answer.which we did.

The representatives were not rude; rather cordial, engaging, and passive aggressive in their marketing approach. The marketing pitch was that we, because of past stays with Hilton properties, were being offered this very special deal to vacation at one of their prime properties. We were offered both Orlando and Las Vegas. Initially, we declined both in light of the fact that we both had been to Orlando numerous times, and although, I, Martha had visited Las Vegas a number of times, neither of us had a particular interest in visiting at that particular time.

During the second quarter of the year, Murray reconnected with a first cousin living in Las Vegas, and since he had never visited Las Vegas, we decided at some point to plan a trip by end of fourth quarter to visit his cousin. Coincidental with this decision, we were still receiving calls from Hilton. We decided to investigate accepting their offer should they call again which they did.

The offer, as I best I can remember, required a deposit of around $189.00 to secure the visit which included a three day two night stay at one of their properties. We were offered the Trump property as well as the property we chose to reside for the stay. The offer also included a 200 bonus credit usable at any Hilton facility. The only stipulation was to listen, at no obligation or pressure to buy, to a sales presentation regarding the properties available in their timeshare bank.

At the time of agreement and payment, via credit card, we were told that we needed to travel within six months. Unfortunately, as the six month expiration period approached, due to some family illness, we were unable to book the trip and at that time were willing to forfeit the deposit. We were then told they would “work with us” and give us a grace period until the end of the year to book. We accepted the offer.

During a social gathering with friends, we casually mentioned we were planning a trip to Las Vegas. At that time, our neighbors and long-time friends (also a retired professional couple) mentioned that they too had planned a trip to Las Vegas. In talking with the wife, she shared it was also via a Hilton Grand vacation offer. They already owned a time-share and was going to Las Vegas purely for the convenience of the trip. We agreed to travel by the end of the year and began making plans for air travel, etc.

In retrospect, one of the first “alerts” that something was not quite right was during the booking process. Our neighbor called first and secure the date for visiting, afterwards calling to share the specific information with me so that we might coordinate. I then called and asked for the same date and during my conversation with the booking agent mentioned that we would be traveling with friends who would also be attending a presentation during the same time frame. The tone of the representative immediately changed from cordial to an aggressive, rude reaction in which she responded “It is against company policy to book people from the same area at the same time” I was totally shocked and upon questioning her she became more adamant in her statement.

I then told her to keep the offer and I hung up. We shared our experience with our friends and she advised I should just call back in a couple of days and try to rebook. I called back in perhaps three days and was connected to a different representative who without question, booked us at the same, but different slots, as our neighbors. She also accommodated us at our own expense, of course for an additional nights stay. In order to be available for the presentation, both couples had to come in a day early because of the limitation of flights out of Columbia as well as Charlotte.

On the day of the presentation, our neighbors were scheduled for an early morning presentation. She later shared that it was initially a cordial presentation, but noted that as they persisted in telling them they already had a timeshare and was not interested in purchasing another, it became more high pressured and less cordial. She also said as of this date, they never received the promised $200 coupon for attending the presentation.

Our presentation was scheduled for the afternoon and we planned around and devoted the time allotment as requested for the presentation. We also booked reservations that evening for a show. Upon arrival for the presentation, we were seated in a reception area with other potential clients. Snacks were available as we waited. We checked in at least 10 minutes prior to our presentation and after waiting for at least 15-20 minutes past our allocated time, we again checked with the desk and advised them we were on a tight timeframe. It was obvious that our time was taken for granted and not respected. We were assured that someone would be with us within a few minutes that the person was wrapping up who had been assigned to help us that they were experiencing a high volume of interested clients and were running a little behind.

The gentleman that was sent to talk with us was casually dressed, had the aura of a “low-key, I am here to help you; learning myself attitude”. He engaged us regarding our family and shared tidbits regarding his. After about 40-45 minutes past our assigned times, we advised them we were leaving as we had plans for the evening. We also were clear that our time was just as valuable as theirs and were quite agitated and disappointed with the waiting situation. Upon our threat to leave, someone “miraculously” was free to meet with us. We were escorted into a cubic arrangement of offices and listened to the same guy who had initially been sent to the reception area to engage us. We had initially determined that we definitely would not buy a timeshare, however; after listening to the presentation and asking a lot of questions some of which he could not answer or pretended that he could not, we did change our opinion.

After being bombarded with questions, the representative called in another person (we now feel this was orchestrated and this person was indeed the “closer”). Even as listened and became more interested we kept going back to the statement “We do normally make what we consider major purchases without input from our financial advisor”. To that response, the closer quoted the number of doctors, lawyers and other professionals that have and continue to invest in these properties. The following reasons for investing were also outlined to us. Legacy --- The property can be passed on to our granddaughter and would allow her unlimited international travel opportunities. The resale value of the property will only grow in value due to the relocation of the Oakland Raiders and other anticipated sports teams.

No money down today to execute the contract. Sign and walk away. They will handle all paperwork for filing title, deeds, etc. Units are moving quickly. "Just look at the number of clients here. Once in a lifetime offer at this location feel certain that given your lifestyle the financial advisor would see as a good investment." False Urgency was created to make us believe we could never receive this offer or a comparable Hilton one at a later time; and, we had to definitely purchase that day only. Rental Opportunities for positive income. We were told that if we chose to rent the property, the income would cover the yearly cost of the program. Can immediately begin booking time. Units are being bought by professionals such as ourselves so it obviously must be a good value.

Because of our “perceived” good credit we would have a greater advantage of return on our investment, because we would be able to immediately secure almost an additional 60-80K (will verify #) points by opening up a Hilton American Express account. We shared we already have AMEX accounts and questioned why we could not use them for whatever the incentive might be but obviously there is a financial arrangement between Hilton and AMEX. We did, in fact, open up two different accounts of which $750 was placed on one card (Murray has since paid this off) and $2800+ on the other (I am only paying the minimum on this account). This allowed us to immediately coveted bank points towards vacation timeshares. We were even shown properties in Scotland and Ireland and told these would be available to us.

The credit line for us AMEX was together $35,000 and we were told and encouraged that using the card to pay off the property was an option most people do not have. We are very clear now why they would want a third party to totally assume the debt. Once property paid off it was ours. (We, however, now realize that the reoccurring maintenance fee was never fully explained to the point that it is ALWAYS attached to the property... so we in fact would never really own it). We were told that we were not limited in the time we could stay in a property (upon reading the contract, there is a 30 day continuous stay limitation). The HGVClub was on the Las Vegas strip which supposedly as a value added component in order to resell the property for a profit later.

In retrospect, we realize that the material covered in this presentation was greatly diminished because of the time constraints as a result of the fact that we were boxed in with time. I do not know if this was by design. After the first representative brought the closer in we reluctantly agreed to purchase. In the aftermath of this decision, we now realize that a plethora of information was put in front of us and explained in surface terms. In late February, I still had not signed the paperwork to begin an automatic draft to begin payment on the unit. Someone named Michelle from the corporate office began calling on almost a daily basis regarding the paperwork. She was very rude, and eventually I asked her not to call our house again. I finally sent it in and the first draft of 237.17 was taken out on March 3, 2017. Effective, July 27, 2017, I placed a permanent stop payment on this draft with our bank.

We have chosen not to pay the enormous yearly bill which we received about two months ago. It is almost $1500. We strongly feel that the product was grossly misrepresented and that we were lied to about many features and benefits of this product. We have been constantly bombarded with calls about booking vacations, of which we have not done or plan to do. After one of these calls in mid-June, Murray told the representative we wanted to get rid of the timeshare and was informed that someone would call him from the Resale department within 20 days. We never received a call, but instead the email of July 6 from Senior Resale Specialist, M. Elena ** who advised we were in no position to sell the property and if we choose to proceed it would have to be paid off in full prior to the sale.

Needless, to say, we were absolutely shocked the value of the property was not what they said it was the day the sale was consummated. A drop in 15-16K in less than 6 months... it's paramount to fraud. As we were told the value of this property would increase in the future as it was selling out fast. Your email of July 6, 2017 from your representative in HGV Resales Department totally contradicts this. We continue to receive daily calls and advertisements from various representatives attached to the Hilton Grand Vacation family wanting us to attend owners meetings and encouraging us to book trips on specials many of them to upgrade our current purchase. We have refused all these offers. We have also not used the $200 incentive voucher. Our objective is to totally separate ourselves from affiliation with this organization. This is the exact letter we wrote Hilton. Disgusted. Wish we were never owners.

We purchased our "Hilton Vacation Club" in 2009, and just recently sold it through their resale dept. We spent approx. $42000 for a NYC location, and only received $12000 back from Hilton. That was one of the reasons we bought in was because they offered to buy it back. Course, they didn't say for how much, but at least we got something back unlike some other timeshares out there. However, we aren't happy about losing nearly $30K. First, I'd like to comment on the positives. For the only 3 times we used it, the Hilton properties were gorgeous, and the front desk personnel were top notch customer service. The places we used it were Orlando, Hawaii, and a Disney property through RCI. We have a longer list of negatives which is why we wanted to get out of it. Recent maintenance & taxes were running around $1200/yr.

We weren't gaining much after paying for fees when making a reservation and paying the taxes and maintenance. In fact, we never did use the NYC property because they were going to charge us an $85 maintenance fee and a charge of $25/day for parking. Yes, that was cheaper than a NYC hotel, but it was more hassle than it was worth and didn't feel it justified paying more fees. For the years we didn't use the points, we converted them to Hilton Honors points, but yes there is a fee for everything! When we signed on to the club, they told us our exchange would be 50 pts to every Club point, and there was no charge. That worked fine the first time, but then they changed it to 25 pts to every Club point when I tried to exchange a few Club points left in my account for Hilton Honors, and then they wanted to charge me $95 to do it.

It wasn't worth it. Bottomline is that they charge you a fee for everything, and their whole exchange system has gotten so confusing. You better stay on top of things, because you will lose your points if you don't do something with them (for a fee) at the end of the year. So that's why we got out of it. We'll spend our $1200/yr somewhere else where we can vacation where we want and still come out ahead. If you do go through their resale Dept., allow about 12-15 weeks to get it all done. It would behoove Hilton to rid themselves of all the fees and make it easier to reserve a location at a time you want it, so the owners don't feel so duped.

My wife (Hilton Honors member) and I received a 3 night / 4 day stay at the Hilton Resort in Myrtle Beach SC. This was offered to us at a very discounted rate with the expectation that we participate in the HGVC presentation of their ownership business model RE: vacation stays. The presentation would last 90 - 120 minutes. Also, we were going to get a certificate for $200.00 regardless of our decision after the presentation. We talked about it and decided take advantage of it. In retrospect, we should have stayed home.

The Hilton Resort was OK. Rooms antiquated and parking not convenient. Also, the elevator lines were miserable. The presentation venue was not within walking distance as promised and was in fact ~ 8 miles from the resort. Doesn't sound like much but when it starts at 0830, you get the honor of driving through the rush hour traffic of US 17. Took us about 30 minutes to get there. Upon our arrival we checked in and were told to wait for our salesperson. Coffee and snacks were offered.

Salesperson arrived, introduced himself. He seemed nice. He led us to what I would call a large sales war room. This is where about 20 sales reps (including ours) with their respective clients to go over things like, goals, dreams, bucket lists, etc. Of course he spoke highly of Hilton, great reviews, customer centric, billion dollar company, etc. Nothing specific... Very vague. Lots of noise in this room. We got to listen to stories about the rep's travels, how many places that he visited, etc. We could do that too if we joined. We were told that by the end of the presentation, they needed a yes or a no. A response of "we'd like to think about it" was frowned upon. He says that 1 in 3 sign into the program. As we spoke, he was jotting down notes on some paperwork. Sometimes he was acting like he is writing something down, but simply underlining words that have already been underlined.

After 2 hours of that, we were taken to view the condos. When I say we, I mean not only my wife and I, but the others (reps and clients) as well. Still lots of noise and kind of awkward navigating through these condos, dodging the other clients and reps. I felt like we were cattle being herded around. Next stop... The "seal the deal" room. Another large venue with glass along ocean side of room. Here we got to talk to not only our sales rep, but also the financial person. He seemed nice as well. This person (from what I could gather) goes from table to table working out deals with the prospective clients. He presents unrealistic financing through the Hilton credit card, recommended points, etc. By this time, the initial paperwork has points, numbers, underlined words and percentages peppered all over it. I ask to have a contract to review at home. Nope everything stays here. Can I have the paper with all the financial information... Nope, stays here too.

What I can have is a white, hard back notebook, with all of documents in plastics sleeves. I can review it in the seal the deal room, which would equate to trying to concentrate inside of a jet engine... Loud and lots of hot air being blown around. By now we are well into our 3rd hour. They presented the financial information and left us so we could talk about it.

As we were talking, I see one of the other sales reps do something that really surprised me. As this rep passes our table, I noticed she is kind of like dancing towards the other end of the room, where the financial person is standing facing her. Like a victory dance of sorts... Not blatant, but kind of like signifying to the financial guy that she has "got one". She opens a desk drawer grabbing from what I could tell was a authorization form for financing, spins and closes the drawer with her hip, accenting the motion, reminiscent of Mae West. Really goofy.

Our sales rep returns, we tell him that we appreciate his time, but our answer is no. He stands up and moves us to another part of the closer room so another person can sign us out. He disappears. We are 3.5 hours into this by now. Shortly, a used car salesman slinks to our table, sits down and tries to sway our decision by offering vacations, etc. He makes every attempt to sweeten the deal. At this point we just want to leave. "You'd be crazy not to take advantage of this" he says. I (we) must be crazy. I still ask if we can think about it and he says yes, but all of this is off the table. I ask to be able to call our rep if we have questions and he says they do not take calls from clients. Really? What kind of place is this? Reluctantly, he signs us out and gives us our gift certificate for $200.00 on our next Hilton stay. 4 hours after we arrived, we are now free to go. We were exhausted.

My wife was reviewing the $200.00 "gift" certificate. The fine print reveals that there are a number of Hilton properties/hotels where this is not valid. So many, we had to Google the list of properties/hotels run by Hilton. I still have no idea where we can use it. Also, you have a window of 25 days to use it. If the gift has restrictions and surprises in the fine print, what horrors does the HGVC contract hold? This entire experience was totally worthless to us and quite frankly a little insulting.

We checked out of the Hilton Resort early and spent the remainder of the week in Pawleys Island, SC to cleanse ourselves of the experience. Lastly, assuming you've made it this far in my review, we've decided that we are not going to stay at any Hilton properties moving forward and I will not be using them for my business... Not that it matters to a billion dollar company like Hilton.

We bought into HGVC in summer 2014, thinking it would force us to take vacations, and it did. But the trouble is it's almost always complicated to use, slow website, fees yearly plus fees to book. The good part is we've stayed in much nicer hotels/resorts than we would on our own, but the properties are limited except when trying to use the RCI option... which never seems to have anything we want when we want it. We signed up again in Park City, UT. (Many thousands of bonus points, somehow sounded good again!) But this time I remembered the fine print in the contract that lets you opt out with a certified mail letter... but hurry up since the window is only a week! Our kids won't want the inherited timeshare due to annual costs (over $1,000) for fees & taxes so we're at a loss as to what to do. I'm going online soon to try to use my leftover annual points which now they won't convert unless you make a reservation at the same time.

If you decide to take Hilton up on their 3-night deal at one of resorts, be ready to endure the challenge of your life as they push you through not one salesperson, but three of them, each one representing a different angle as to why it is a great idea to purchase 7,000 points which could allow you the ability to stay at one of their resorts for a week. The cost is only $66,000 financed at a 17.7% interest rate. In addition you will be charged another annual $1800+ maintenance fees for as long as you own this deal. I figure I could rent one of their 2- bedroom units for the annual maintenance fee alone. I also think I could take the $66,500 and invest it and with the proceeds from that investment stay just about anywhere I want several times a year. Plus, if you add the $1,800 maintenance fee to that investment I am sure I could cover my airfare as well. Beware. This deal doesn't even sound like a deal, but that is not stopping them from displaying it as one.

I was solicited, as a result of a phone reservation I made with a Hilton hotel, to participate in a timeshare presentation in Florida. In return for attending I was offered a supposedly deeply discounted 3 night stay at a Hilton Hotel and a $200 "spend a night" certificate to use toward an additional stay. I was advised when scheduling that if I were married my husband would also have to attend. When I told the agent that my husband and I are separated (living 100s of miles apart in different states) and that we have no common assets and each own our own homes and make our own purchasing decisions and that he would surely not accompany me to a presentation in which he had no interest and no role, the agent said they would denote me as single.

I signed on and then paid the approximately $200 which was my share of the cost of the 3 night stay. (While this was a discount over what I would have paid for 3 nights without this agreement, the savings turned out to be not nearly enough to compensate for the ensuing aggravation.) Things went from bad to worse as I tried to schedule my visit and incompetence ensued. Errors and misinformation abounded and when I couldn't stand it any longer I complained to a "supervisor" who offered me an additional 10000 Hilton Honors Points as compensation for my wasted time and inconvenience. (All this happened prior to the trip.) Once in Florida, things got much worse.

I had been advised to call Hilton Vacations on Monday to arrange my transportation to the presentation that Wednesday morning. However, when I called Monday, I was advised to call Wednesday morning. When I called Wednesday morning, after reiterating my transportation requirement yet again, I was finally told someone would be there to pick me up. No one came. Called again. Told they were on the way. No one came. Called again. Finally, after a delay of more than an hour, I was driven to the appointment site. At this point I was introduced to a sales agent who (perhaps knowing what I'd just been through) may have assessed me as a customer not likely to buy, because she immediately began grilling me about my marital status and then after absenting herself for a few minutes, returned to tell me that she was refusing to give me the presentation on the grounds that I was married and there without my husband.

She assured me however that under the circumstances I would still receive the compensation promised and that I should just leave immediately. I was provided with a case number and a phone number, told not to worry about a thing, to "have a great day" and that someone would be calling me later in the day. Of course the call didn't come. Finally, after several calls and messages from me, someone finally did call me back and told me she would get back to me that afternoon.

It was roughly a week later that I finally received an email that I would not be billed the difference for the rooms but when I asked when I would receive the $200 certificate and 10,000 points I was also owed, I was informed again via email that "My supervisor said you will not be receiving gifts. Have a great day." They must have decided that since there was no justifiable excuse for denying me what I had been promised, they wouldn't even try to come up with one - hoping that I would just forget the whole thing. But they are so wrong about that. This company operates in an unethical and dishonest fashion. If this isn't resolved here, I am prepared to face off in Small Claims Court.

We attended their tours in Las Vegas. The salesladies Kimmie and Korina were bluffing through their teeth. We had done our homework prior to attending the tour. We are aware of the resale value of Hilton timeshare; you would be lucky if you could recoup 20% of what you paid for. Most owners had to give away their units, literally, just to get out the contract. So these 2 salesladies were saying things like: "Hilton timeshare increase in value every year by $10k, you can't buy these units for these prices we are giving you if you were to come back next year, the bonus points you are offered are worth at least $50k in value, you have made history!"

Anyhow, our advice is do your due diligence before you go to any timeshare presentations/tours. All timeshares tours are the same: high pressure, deceptive selling. The resale value of timeshare is the equivalent of an automobile vehicle. You use it, the value depreciates. Whether it is Hilton or Marriott or Wyndham or Welk's or Diamond's or Hyatt or Ritz-Carlton, all timeshares lose value over time just as a car does. If you really want to buy a timeshare, buy it direct from an owner through sellmytimesharenow.com. You are not only helping owners who are trying to get out of timeshares, you are also preventing those hotel/resorts companies from continuing their deceptive selling.

I was able to book the same vacation property I was denied using the RCI program at the same price as a non RCI customer with no difficulty. Availability using the RCI travel program proved nonexistent. Hilton Grand Vacations proved to have little to no market value contrary to the sales agent's claims.

I hired a firm to me get out of the Timeshare lease at a cost of $4,500. The Timeshare was sold by them on eBay for $35.00. I paid $18,000 for the Timeshare. I was so disgruntled I never took a single Timeshare vacation and will forever blame myself for my stupidity in buying a Timeshare and for believing the information the sales agent presented as the benefits of owning a Timeshare. It is one huge rip-off. There are companies that have the sole business of getting Timeshare owners out of their Timeshare agreement. My feelings are that once you are a Timeshare owner you are locked into the contractual agreement forever, and that the value of your ownership is nearly nonexistent in the open market if you decide to sell or marked your ownership at a later date.

Will keep it relatively short. Usually stay at Marriott properties but got talked into a Hilton Grand Vacations club stay with required sales pitch when exploring well located 3-4 star hotels in west midtown Manhattan. When making the reservation, I was asked if I would like to hear a vacation package that Hilton was offering to all of their Hilton rewards members, no matter what the level. Sounded good so I stayed on the phone and listened to the entire presentation. I knew it involved a sales pitch for timeshares, but I was actually interested in the process even though I was not enthusiastic about buying. Ended up staying at a Hilton property that was on my shortlist anyway, the Central Park South Hilton Garden Inn, which I admit is a very nice property and treated us very well. Research done after our stay revealed we paid top dollar for that room. I was expecting at least a small discount, whatever!

The meeting with the Hilton grand vacations club salespeople was an entirely different matter. It is amusing to me the similarities experience by others no matter what the location. Our salesman and his initial cohort, which I did not see again, claimed to be from the same area in Pennsylvania as my wife and I. What an amazing coincidence! I can honestly say I did go in with an open mind, despite my disdain for timeshares. My wife and I have more time to travel so I wanted to see what Hilton grand vacations had to offer.

Several of the properties shown during the video presentation, including Mexico and South Florida, are known to me and are nowhere as nice as depicted on the screen. Our salesman kept dropping names of individuals who have purchased timeshares from him, like I care. I felt like saying, that even though I do have some money, I did not recently sell a chain of jewelry stores, as he described one of his customers. His thinking was that we probably would feel that we elevated our social position by buying into the grand vacations club as did those individuals.

When I finally informed him that I am a rather hesitant person and could not "earn his business today", he promptly scowled and disappeared without a thank you or an ** and was replaced by a very nice ** gentleman who is obviously his boss. This person attempted to squeeze $1700 out of us to "hold" a VIP status and ensure 7000 points for a stay in New York within one year. I told him in any event I'm not placing any money down today, at which point he abruptly left the table and told us he would meet us downstairs. We never saw him again or our original salesperson and wandered to the exit table on our own where we received our special gift, a 3 to 4 night Bahamas cruise. Further inspection of this gift provides you with the worst cabin unless you're willing to give an extra $500 or more to "upgrade".

I highly doubt I will be using this cruise after this experience as I will give Hilton grand vacations none of my money. They should be ashamed of themselves for their high-pressure, low-brow tactics and their rude and dismissive behavior when you did not agree to lay down almost $40,000 to get even a base vacation package. This was two hours of my life that I will never get back. It got me to New York however to visit our daughter and that I feel was worth it. I felt however the need to shower after my interaction with these people, I will be calling Hilton grand vacations club to obtain the exact charge on my credit card, as I do not trust them with my credit card information.

It's probably never worth it but if you can get a good deal on a nice place and have to suffer through this two hour presentation, I would recommend that you considerate it. Be careful, however, because they are good at what they do and I can easily see many people agreeing to the deal they propose. With the two grifters that I dealt with, I wanted to asked him why, at their age, they are lowering themselves to rip off people selling timeshares. I realize the economy is bad but come on! It is not my place to judge them however. I feel sorry for those who buy in because by no calculation is it worth it. If you do go, relax at the accommodations which are usually nice, do not under any circumstances write them a check, and enjoy the rest of your stay. Good luck!

Again no big deal I was then insulted that I could not afford the timeshare when I politely declined. My mom and I were highly offended and advised the sales rep that I made a good living. The whole experience was downright daunting and I am glad it is over!

The person who contacted me as a Hilton Honors member offered a package deal which sounded very good but I did not know it included a timeshare pitch.

I wrongly assumed it was a tour of Hilton properties similar to Marriott properties. We sat through their 2 hour pitch which was professional and respectful. Door #1 and Door #2 were offered and when we declined to purchase, their closer offered Door #3 (VIP) which we declined and we were shown Door #4 which was the exit! The sales reps did their job but so did we! It's always important to read and hear what is not being said. They have their job and we always need to be prepared to do ours because the sale people are very good at what they do.

We stay at Hilton properties when we travel and will be contacting one of their corporate reps to tell them we were very unhappy that they sold our membership info to HGVC. If they do not respect their members, we will discontinue staying at any of their properties! We appreciate all the comments people have written.

Buyer beware should always be part of any financial decisions!

I called Hilton Grand Vacations. They offered me a 4 day 3-night stay in Orlando Florida... Before I purchased I asked if there where any fine print or any other thing I would have to do to get this discount. I was assured that I had nothing to do but make a reservation. Only after the customer service Rep. processed my card he sent the details of the vacation package. That is where I read the fine print that the customer service Rep intentionally lied about, after I asked him more than once. The fine print read that whomever is staying in hotel rooms would have to attend a 2-hour timeshare presentation.

The timeshare presentation was never mentioned and is not even located at hotel I was staying. If we did not attend this presentation you would be charged more than a 500.000 difference. I was more than unsatisfied with the customer service at Hilton. I even spoke with two managers that told me nothing could be done beside a refund that would take 5 business days. I will never book with Grand Hilton Vacations again.

My boyfriend and I went to Parc Soleil on a marketing promotion as we only paid $110 for 4 days in Orlando. The gentleman who offered us the opportunity through the Hilton Grand Vacation Club told us that this was an awesome chance for us to take advantage of their new properties and see their great offers so we decided to try it out. We got to the hotel and the check in staff was bizarrely curt rather than welcoming and it only got worse from there. We were told that we had to attend a presentation or we would be charged the regular nightly rate but when we asked about our date and time to meet for the presentation, we were told that there was no record of appointments in the system and to call customer service.

After going through all of that, we were finally given an appointment and it seems as if they would have been okay with us not attending and just paying 200 plus dollars per night. Our hotel room was fine as they gave us a one bedroom condo, however we were told that we would be facing the Disney fireworks and not for one night did we get to see them, the only thing we faced was an absolutely dirty construction field with truck who worked from early in the morning until the end of the day and they were quite noisy and when we asked for a change there was nothing available. There wasn't much to do in the resort and it wasn't as appealing as the pics.

They only have one restaurant that delivers to the room but they don't have any room service and the food and pricing is mediocre so we would always have to go out for every meal which was unlike what a resort should have available. Fast forwarding to the day of the presentation, we met the host as well as our personal tour guide and realtor Simon who was friendly but definitely eager to sell and had many stories that related to every rebuttal we gave. I think he even lied and said he wasn't married because we weren't and took his ring off and put it on a different finger granted the tan line on his wedding hand was right there. My bf told me that wasn't our concern but I'm a skeptic so all I could think was why lie? But anyways he was nice granted I should have known that was the beginning of many lies, including his age.

The pressure was intense and they had so many distractions that we actually began to consider purchasing because of the advantages. They took us on the tour, showed us all of these great rooms and amenities, and advised us of all of the Hilton promotions regarding RCI and their point system and how we would be able to go on a hundred trips a year without having to worry because there was always availability at hotels and we would be considered VIP owners and have a full concierge at our disposal so that even when we ran out of points we would still have all of these other amazing promotions to take advantage of from cruises to yachts to RVs to so many different things that we could use at a discounted rate as owners with Hilton.

We actually began to fall in love with the idea and decided to put a down payment to hold the price for a few days and we would think about it and if we were seriously interested, we could call them and they would go ahead and process the remainder of the down payment as we had 10 days to cancel. The remainder of our stay was fine and we decided to complete the down payment but we wanted to use a different card and they advised this that it would be no problem to refund the initial card that we paid with and put the full amount on the 2nd card. They tried to take BOTH and after we saw a refund on our initial payment, two days later we saw another payment withdrawn. Prior to making that official down payment while they were waiting for us to consider, they were super attentive and calling us every day and our realtor was texting us every few hours checking in on our thoughts and the status of our decision.

Upon making that payment, everything changed and if we had any questions the only thing that we were told was not to worry and things would be handled so on the 9th day within our cancellation window we contacted Sheila who processes the payments and advised her that we still hadn't received the refund that we were promised as they overcharged us and she was absolutely rude and advised us to proceed to file an investigation with our credit card company as she didn't know what we were talking about and she hung up on us. By this time I would say that we had been in touch with three different people in their staff and though they had all been extremely attentive prior to our payment processing, communication was nowhere to be found once we tried to reach them regarding a refund or possible cancellation.

We proceeded to read over our contract thoroughly and realized that we would have to mail something in order for it to be processed and legally accepted as a request for a refund within the allowed time frame but what's unfortunate is Sheila she lied to us and stated that we can send a document via email or fax and that suffice.

We sent out an email to everyone about 5 times and had been attempting to reach them since 11 am and didn't get a response from anyone until 4:50 pm and the only person who contacted us was Javier who initially completed our contract with us who was extremely aggressive and rude which an absolute contradiction from his initial demeanor when we first met. He stated that emails wouldn't work even though his colleague Sheila said that would be more than enough but thankfully we read the contract and we realized that as long as the letter was sent via USPS mail prior to the end of the refund window we would be safe so we advised him of that and he even made up a lie saying that we had to sign the letters even though nowhere in the contract stated that. We realized that these people were absolutely fraudulent and are so glad we got out in time. PLEASE GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN.

What's the worst is my boyfriend read these reviews and he never told me about them because he said he was optimistic due to the treatment we had received prior to making the payment and I only began to research after they became unprofessional and I'm so grateful I saw these reviews and got out in time. The absolute worst and most disgusting part of this process was that our realtor Simon who was super attentive and said that he would always advocate on our behalf was nowhere to be found for the entire day and it's only after we spoke with Javier and confirmed our cancellation did he send a text stating that he was in the hospital with his grandfather in a different part of the state but not to worry that he would have our membership fixed first thing in the morning and that we didn't need to cancel, he didn't ask us our opinion but he felt as if he had the right to override our request.

Once we advised all parties that we had already been in contact with attorneys, they stop speaking and proceeded to tell us that we would be out of the contract, it seems as if they've been through this before and they're very much aware of what they're doing to people and how they're taking advantage. I don't believe our realtor was anywhere but in that office with his staff all day waiting to see how they could scam us into staying and how they could go about denying our request for refund. Simon, Javier, and Shiela were absolutely nightmares to deal with and I believe they all work together to lie to people about HGVC. THEY SHOULD NOT EVEN REPRESENT HILTON.

We have 7000 points yearly and no matter what resort we try to make a reservation at there is never any availability. It is ridiculous for the amount of money we paid to own into this timeshare. There is always this time frame and if you don't plan your life around that you can almost forget about taking a vacation because there is no availability. Yet we can go on any traveling website like Travelocity and get a vacation at the same Hilton resort for the same exact time as long as we pay.

This is really aggravating because here we are paying all this money every month, maintenance fees and money to carry the points over if they are not used and we cannot get a reservation but other people can go on Travelocity and get a reservation for next week and I have to make one 6, 9, or whatever time frame the rules state. Truly is unfair and to all of the people who cannot plan all their vacations half a year ahead or because life happens and you may need to make plans at the last minute and with this timeshare that is not possible. Really and truly unfair. They made it sound like vacations would be simple to plan. VERY UNHAPPY.

I did so once. Then, and yes this was my fault, I forgot to call in again and extend the contract at the right time. So they now say it has expired so my money is forfeit. So lesson learned by me, NEVER give money to Hilton! They will take it and give nothing in return! Short of the verbal agreement we entered into over the phone, most people would call this stealing!

First things first, I knew it was going to be a sales pitch but was actually interested to see how these things work and what the actual costs were. Maybe it'd be a good fit for us. The hotel (Elara in Vegas) was wonderful. The view was perfect! No complaints there. Now the sales staff. After the God-awful canned humor presentation, we get the tour and the pitch. Yadda-yadda-yadda, sounds great. All these "extras" to take advantage of, 1st class resorts, etc. Let's see what's available. Have to wait, and wait and wait for Kathy to come over with her little tablet.

Now going on 2.5 hours (told it was 90-120 minutes tops). Price was just not worth it, interest rate is over 14% on 10 year "mortgage". Plus annual maintenance fees. Said no, we can do better with various rewards programs and other discounts, not worth it for us." Now the obnoxious and rude part. Our salesperson and Kathy now start saying things like we can't afford trips we want (not true), we don't know what we're talking about when it comes to actual prices of vacations (also, not true) and that we will be wasting our money on any other trips we take (Um, no, you can't offer us what we prefer as far as settings).

Now trying to get in touch with "Nancy", a sales manager to discuss how poorly her sales staff handled us and how rude they became when we told them we would not be buying the timeshare but to no avail. Was promised a callback, didn't happen. Left 2 messages. Still nothing. So clearly not interested in feedback. Here's my advice. Take the package (make sure to get a supervisor when you buy-in and make sure you get a refund on the stay plus a free night to use afterwards), enjoy the weather and the view and don't be scammed. Not worth the money, especially based on reviews of others saying it is impossible to get desired dates and fees keep going up while re-sale value goes down.

When we attended the presentation in November 2015, we were very impressed with what they said and the resort where we stayed, but we were in a transition period (retiring from the military) and were not ready to commit then. So we purchased their VIP program to freeze the price and come back and visit within 18 months. It was all downhill from there. We not only had difficulty using the points, it was one lie after another. We couldn't get the dates we wanted, the unit we wanted, couldn't book the remaining points until we were done with the first trip. We were told our trip had been extended; it hadn't! We complained and each person would say they would fix it, and they never followed through!

Ultimately, we wish we had never paid the $1700 for the VIP program, but are so grateful we didn't buy the full vacation club. Our $1700 was supposed to have given us a week in a 2 BR, but they would only let us have 3 nights (the minimum) in a 2 BR and then 3 nights in a 1 BR, and then wouldn't address our concerns when we went for our presentation. They also didn't have our contract or our original price, and kept quoting us higher amounts, acting like it was such a deal! While the units are nice, don't be fooled!!! I told HGV during our presentation, their failure to address our concerns cost them what should have been an easy sale. Glad we tested them first!

We made our first purchase in 2005 on a promotional package to Las Vegas, and we have upgraded twice since our original purchase. We have thoroughly enjoyed our ownership with Hilton. Owning with Hilton has allowed us to take amazing vacations to Hawaii, Orlando, Breckenridge, Aspen, Vail, Key West, New York City, Napa, Jamaica, The Bahamas, Paris, London, Amsterdam, Peru, Alaska, Steamboat Springs, Daytona Beach, Washington DC, Park City. We even used the club to book a Disney Cruise.

I really don't understand some of the complaints on this website. We have stayed mainly at Hilton properties with our ownership because we love the quality and customer service that Hilton provides. With that being said, we have also booked several properties with RCI and was pleasantly surprised with those resorts as well. I highly recommend Hilton Grand Vacations Club, but only if you want to take some really nice vacations.

They jumped on my spouse's wanting to do this and it made it harder for me to just walk away. After completing this round, somebody else comes in and tries to sell 5 nights for $1800 total with $297 down which after 7 days becomes nonrefundable. I didn't read the fine print and lost that. I canceled before the next installment came out but they took it anyway and then after I proved it to them that I had canceled before they took the dough, they tell me that I will get the refund in 6 to 8 weeks.

They're just out for one thing, sales. They're a well oiled machine with everybody highly trained and oriented towards that. Never again will I attend anything like that. We were told by their salespeople that they do not have vacation clubs all over the world but their Partner RCI had resorts all over the world that were compatible and up to Hilton standards of five star resorts which is completely untrue. A lot of the RCI resorts have 2 to 3 stars. You can never book in their 5 star resorts because they are always full. The resort my husband and baked at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina was basically a long trailer divided up into section and named studio cottages. The one in front of the studio cottages had out houses which were shared people staying in those cottages. The inside was old run down and basically disgusting. I would not stay if it was given to me for free. The place is called The Village at Palmetto Dunes in Hilton Head South Carolina.

When I called HGVC complain we were that they had nothing to do with RCI properties and we should have done research on the property before staying there. The website showed a totally different picture and made it look amazing. As far as I am concerned that is considered FALSE ADVERTISING by HGVC. They are horrible people and they lie to you when they are trying to sell to you. I am thinking of suing them for false advertising and false marketing. My wife was trying to complete the reservation with the Hilton for one of their Hilton Garden Inns in Arlington, Virginia close to the National Cemetery for her brother's full military honors ceremony in December 2016. During the conversation, marketing offered one of their vacation packages for us, totally unsuspecting, my wife agreed and prepaid for a trip to Hilton Head Island, S.C. Almost immediately, the phone calls began two or three times per day. They kept asking us when we would book our reservation and date for the sales talk. We could not confirm a date for some time because of my wife's work schedule and the required approval by her management. When we finally gave these people dates well in advance, they told us those dates were not available.

The phone calls continued repeatedly. When I attempted to inquire about the facilities and the location, I was put on hold and then told that their system was currently no operating so they could not give any information. After repeated calls, I finally learned the location for the sales lecture was on Hilton Head Island and phase I of the property was completed October 2016. Going to Google, I was able to identify the site, some of which was obviously under construction. When I called again, I was informed that this property was not available and that they had booked us in the Hilton Garden Inn which was NOT on Hilton Head Island. This was no different than a bait and switch tactic.

After learning all of this, reading the horror stories in the reviews of HGV, I finally decided that this was unacceptable. When they called last week, I told them my disappointment with their program which resorted to pressure phone calls too numerous to quantify. They are a call center with one motivation and that is NOT to provide customers with a pleasant experience in making vacation plans. Their only interest is selling properties. We have requested a full credit for our prepaid reservation and are praying that this will be the end of this!

Hilton Grand Vacations Elara sits on a beautiful location with very nice rooms. These rooms come with expensive upgrades, including a nice sized jacuzzi bathtub and a 100+ inch drop-down projection screen. Our air condition was broken for two days in our room (as hot as 78 degrees in our room), and we called four times and wrote a request form to get it fixed. After it had finally been fixed after getting 4 different service men in our room, customer service apologized for the problem and sent up a cheap twist-off bottle of wine to apologize for the inconvenience, which was nice enough for us (though we would have preferred a discount on our room). If that was our only complaint, I would have given five stars. That being said, this is why I have only left one star.

My girlfriend and I were seriously contemplating a timeshare. I have been blessed with some financial savings and we always travel, which isn't cheap to do. The 2 hours we spent on the tour were enjoyable, entertaining, and we did not find ourselves concerned at any time about being tortured with a serious or vicious sales attempt. But, during the time that we met our lady whom I will not name, she did something that I know was a sales attempt now. She kept talking to my girlfriend about how beautiful she was and how if we moved to Las Vegas, (which we told her was our intentions in the next few months) that she would be able to find a job without any problems. She went on to tell my girlfriend that she knew people that are management at some high end hotels on the strip and that she would contact them about getting her a job, etc. etc...

All this time she is telling her how beautiful she is, being very sweet to her and acting genuinely concerned about her. Now, as someone with an understanding of how these sales go, I was taken aback by what I was seeing. At first though, I naively thought this sales woman was genuinely interested in helping my girlfriend and I. But, after her realizing that the timeshare proposal was just not in good timing for us, and that we weren't going to purchase just yet, the woman left our presence without saying a word. She did not thank us for coming in, she did not say anything. Someone else came to walk us out and we left...

It was a very disconcerting event, in which my girlfriend and I both felt completely conned by this con-artist. One who would go so low as to make you feel like family, then as soon as we were not useful to her, did away with us like we were nothing. I feel sincerely sorry for more naive people than us, that think that this Hilton Grand Vacations and its sales people are doing anything other than using you in any way possible, to sell you on a TIMESHARE.

This is my takeaway from our Hilton Grand Vacations Promotional Presentation. They're very good at what they do. They don't give a damn about anything but making the sale. They will do everything possible, remaining spineless in their attempt to do so. I have never been so pissed off at how low someone would go to try to make the sale (essentially stealing your money with pressure). They will talk you up, just to try to be as friendly as possible so you sign away 12,000+ dollars (READ THIS SEVERAL TIMES, 12,000.00 At Least). I feel sincerely happy for people that find this useful. I would have done it in the future, but not at this current time. I did not appreciate how my girlfriend was USED in this sales attempt, and believe it was awful how they ended this presentation. Give you the boot, and never say thanks for coming or anything. Very awful PR, abusive in nature at the very least.

I joined HGV in 2015 and would NOT recommend it. Don't join unless you love tourist areas and have a great deal of flexibility. Locations are limited. Availability is very difficult unless you can book well in advance (6-9 months). You can't check availability online which makes it difficult to book flights at the best prices. Many "beach" locations (Hawaii) are not on the beach and require transportation to get to the beach. There are hidden fees including booking fees and resort fees (for Wi-Fi and towels). Points do expire. If you transfer HGV points to Hilton Honors, it's at a poor exchange rate. You can transfer points to RCI, but again you must book well in advance. It all sounds good when you're being hosted and are giving you bonus points. Think three times.

We were sold a bill of good on this deal. I want to know if there is a legal way out of this sucker. With these maintenance charges it's the gift that keep giving year after year. Unless you want to go to Orlando or Vegas this is NOT a deal I would consider. Anyone make progress with getting out of this???

Member since 2002. I will make this short and simple. Whatever Hilton Grand Vacation Club offers you. Don't believe it! Example: I been promised I could book a place at any of their resorts. I have trying to get a reservation on Marco Island, or surrounding locations for nearly 3 years. I haven't been able to make any reservations on or near Marco Island. New York City is starting to be the same story. So, every year I have to convert my points to Hilton Honors and it's nearly impossible to sell my timeshare for a respectable price.

I am an Elite member of what I thought was a good timeshare company. Don't get fooled by their name. (Hilton.) If you're considering buying, get out while you can. MY wife and I bought a property in Myrtle Beach. On June 16 of this year we paid for the property the same day. We paid in full. It's over 6 months now, I can't get a deed or the points that they promised me. They say the deal has to be finalized before I get my points. They took my money in full the first day and still nothing. I can't keep track of all the emails, texts and phone calls.

If they say they'll call you back, "FORGET ABOUT IT". You can't speak to anybody but the sales department. They guard the phone numbers of anyone with influence like Trump's tax returns. No matter how I try, can't get passed the sales department. Now that they have my money, where do I turn??? God forbid if you ask for a refund. They'll have none of that. Could someone please give me any advice or alternatives. I don't have the money to fight their law department. I guess that's what they depend on.

Also, I just got a bill for over $2800 for fees, etc. My personal Elite person won't even give me the resale number. He led me on a wild goose chase. I found the number on my own, left a message, and their message says someone will return my call within 21 days. 21 days??? Really?? Talk about a horrible business model. Wow. I want to warn other consumers of the pitfalls of buying into Hilton Grand Vacations (HGV). My husband and I purchased points in the Vegas property over 8 years ago. We have since left the US and have found even booking 12 months out we are unable to get any availability. We did manage to book one of the Scottish properties. The accommodation hadn't been updated since the 1950s and was not of the standard I associate with the Hilton Brand. We therefore decided to look into selling our timeshare as we are currently throwing $1,000 a year down the drain. The process itself has been harrowing with us only being able to leave a message on a answer phone and then them not getting back to you in the 21 days timeframe they promise. We have now been trying for over 6 months.

We wrongly assumed they resale value would be equal to the outlay value as in the presentation we had been told the value increases overtime, that is not the case. We have been offered less than a 10th of what we paid for it and told that is market value even though if I bought new today I would be paying more than I did 8 years ago. In my mind the whole thing is a complete con and I wouldn't be taken in by the Hilton Brand name. The whole thing has left a very bitter taste in my mouth and Over $20,000 out of pocket. I would strongly advise people not to be sucked in. I will never have anything to do with any Hilton brand in the future.

So our experience with Hilton Grand Vacations is the same as all of the others giving one star descriptions. Little things like "you can always convert to Hilton Honor Points" without saying that the conversion rate is 25 to one. So the 7000 bonus points we received by joining Hilton Grand is good enough for one night at a hotel that you do not need to worry about being mugged going in. Or the buyback description only to find that we were told (after a three week wait) that what we had was not worth anything.

Oh, and they recommended we keep it. Or the ridiculous $200+ charge to use RCI. Or the nearly impossible ability to book anything you can reach. We specifically told the agent that we were looking for locations 500 miles of St Louis. We were sold the package with the guarantee that we could stay as many as 10 nights a year nearly anywhere in our area. They use high pressure sales and false promises to con people. I received the call! As a "Hilton" member I would get 4-day 3-nights at one of the "Hilton" properties in Myrtle Beach, so I talked it over with the wife and we bought the deal for $225.00. Good news ends here. We set a date a few weeks later and planned to travel after the summer rush. Problem was nothing was available nothing so we kept trying and wound up going November 10-13. This should have been a red flag but it was "Hilton". Normally I would have checked out problems and complaints online but hey it's "Hilton".

We arrived at the Hilton Resort just in time to register at 4PM. Upon arrival I am told we are NOT registered there but next door at the Palms. Believe me the Hilton Resort is first class, the Palms not so much. Our room which I thought was a beach front (maybe I misunderstood) but was beach view and that was a stretch. The room was the smallest hotel room I have ever had the displeasure to use. The Palms is an older condo and its age is showing in the condo we were in. Not at all "Hilton" standards.

First problem no Wi-FI. It took two days for the hotel and their tech people to get it right. Next the very deep tub and shower was so old it had old school sliding glass doors with an opening only a contortionist could fit through. Bedding was horrible. Every night we fought with the bottom sheets, no fitted sheet just one too short and too narrow to tuck in. Nice flat panel TV but most channels no HD and no channel guide, just saying. The carpet was so bad in the hall that its rolled up creating a trip hazard in several places. This set up a most unpleasant weekend certainly not worth what we paid.

We knew what to expect going in and were prepared for a high pressure sales pitch and that's what we received. The promised 2-hour tour ended after the office closed at 5PM. After we toured the condo we went upstairs to a glass enclosed room with full beach views. There the salesperson excused herself. I told my wife "here come the closer" and yes he arrived with a full smiling handshake. After he said "my name is George" I said "yes the closer". He was pissed, made a few comments and signed over to the check out guy.

We knew going in we would not buy but the razzle-dazzle and misleading statements is mind blowing. Our girl told us her cubicle was an investment of over 26,000 in new tech stuff 50" tv on the wall and one embedded in the desk. However when it came time to get to the nitty gritty she pulled out several sheet protectors with computer paper & pencil notes on them. Numbers, lines, arrows, redirection/misdirection, numbers scratched out lower number in its place, percents, etc. Einstein could not follow all she was saying, which was what they wanted.

We have a local car dealer and he ends all his commercials with this line. "Once you experience it, you will never forget it". That about sums it up for me and mind, never again. By the way my phone has not stopped ringing since returning home with travel offers. I guess "Hilton" allows them to sell info. Hilton has devalued the brand and tarnished the name but I guess the money they make is greater importance than the customers they currently have.

I sent my daughter and her boyfriend, they were both in their young twenties at the time, not hardly adults, to Hilton Grand Vacations Tuscany Village three years ago as a present father to daughter. Although they enjoyed the resort and the location, they got suckered by the timeshare department and their sales people who we know are one step below used car salesmen and swindled into signing a $20,000 contract with almost $1,000 yearly maintenance fee that they could ill-afford. My poor daughter who was too embarrassed at the time to tell me and has since broken up with her boyfriend who was also on the contract, brought this to light. In 3 years, these people have done nothing but take their money and had no concern for the lack of service or value which these kids were getting, which was none.

Hilton Vacations have stolen, in my opinion, over $10,000 from these kids who are still struggling with low-paying jobs and can barely afford the rent at home. I have been trying to resolve this question. I got the usual push-off and excuses, common to sleaze-ball operations, to discourage such inquiries. I first spoke with a Ludmila **, who passed me off to a supposed supervisor (who was actually just another **) named Monique **. These people are well-versed and trained to put people off and not answer their questions, obviously indicating that this comes up often. The supervisor for them, a Dawna **, was conveniently unavailable at the time. We foolishly signed up for 3400 points at a rate of $234.00 monthly with a $1200.00 yearly maintenance fee (makes me sick) in October 2016. Every time we have free time to travel and a location in mind: A. there is no Resort located there or B. no availability or C. the Resort looks like a 50' style apartment complex. Now mind you -- I only wanted to go to Savannah, GA or perhaps Charleston, SC or the Florida Keys. We have traveled extensively worldwide and like 4-5 star accommodations and made that clear plus we can't book 9 months in advance. They do not care. HGVC is in business to take your money and yes, offer you nice accommodations if you want to stay a week in Orlando (I live in FL) or Vegas. And if you take notice -- 28 locations in Japan out of roughly 113 resorts.

I wish we could just stop paying the monthly fees which have been so far about $3042.00 + the $1200.00 maintenance fees AND we haven't had a vacation with HILTON!!! I despise this company! DO NOT GO THERE! DO NOT LISTEN TO THEIR SPIEL!!! RUN!!! We could have gone to the Amalfi Coast which was my plan this summer but we wasted - tossed the money out of the window this year. I went to the Hilton Elara a couple of years ago and decided to give them another try since I couldn't find rooms in Las Vegas for the days I wanted to stay in Vegas. The reason I was disappointed last time is because I went back up to my room in the daytime in order to meet with a friend for an hour. I left after this hour and took down the privacy sign so that housekeeping would get a chance to clean my room. When I returned around five PM there was a message from the cleaning staff to call them when my room is available for them to clean. This must have been right after I left since the room was cleaned by housekeeping.

This time I didn't get my room cleaned at all the first day. This morning I wasn't feeling well after breakfast and went up to my room to lay down. I displayed the privacy sign and awoke to someone in my room. It turned out to be housekeeping cleaning my room. I realize that a "privacy" sign doesn't guarantee privacy but still I am shocked housekeeping would just barge into a room where a guest requested privacy. There were no knocks at my door or phone calls, she just walked in as I was laying down! I should have used the deadbolts like I normally do but forgot. Earlier in the day I overheard someone from housekeeping telling someone to switch their privacy sign since they were leaving their room even though they told her that they intended to return to their room after breakfast. It seems housekeeping is overly aggressive and even rude to guests.

The rooms are beautiful and the bar is nice but housekeeping is the reason I will avoid staying at the Elara even though I'm an HHonors member. It doesn't help that the strip is inaccessible through the Miracle Mile Mall and they have no on-site restaurant. They also charge $9.95 for wireless access which you will probably need to use since cellular and wireless signals don't seem to work from the hotel rooms.

The room rate per night after fees and taxes for the year is over $300 per night. Using any other vacation lodging facilities would be cheaper. This is NOT what the sales pitch states. The property is also basically worthless when you walk out the door with it. It is not an asset to be passed to heirs. Another lie by HGVC. A $24,000 purchase isn't worth $1,000 the day after you purchase it. This should be illegal.

We went to Hilton Myrtle Beach, after I was persuaded to give it a try. We decided to accept for two reasons: One, we were looking at a second property in the Myrtle Beach area. Second, when I stressed I was not looking for a Time Share but a personal property the representative indicated that this was a good way to see what Hilton has to offer. We were told that there would be no pressure to buy a Time Share. Hilton would not do anything to jeopardize your business, After showing pressure was horrendous, they were upset that we didn’t buy, and we were even left sitting at a table for nearly an hour. We had to go get someone to receive our Free Night Certificate.

We used the certificate to spend a night at the Hilton figuring we were already in the area. When we sent it in it was denied because it needed to be sent in 30 days after your stay. This is located in very small print at the bottom. At the top of the page it states “Offer Expires six months from personal review”. When I called Hilton they pointed it out. When asked to speak with a supervisor they transferred me to someone who spoke no English. I almost think they were doing it on purpose just because of the way it all played out. The stupidity of it all is that we were considering purchasing a Hilton Property that was adjacent to where we stayed after speaking with a couple we met. Maybe this was a wake-up call for us. We now believe Hilton is a terrible company and would not consider doing business with them. It really is sad that the Hilton name is associated with such tactics.

In the age of airb&B HGVC club represents very little value. The selection is incredibly limited but the meager set is reduced to tiny as soon as you try and book anything. They have way too many places in Sanibel Florida but even those are very hard to book. The RCI option seems like a savior but again it is window dressing. I am looking at 2 weeks in Italy for June 17 and of the 29 units that are shown on the website, 3 are available. Of these 1 is awful (Sestriere) as I stayed there last June. There is very little in the rest of Europe. One of my worst life decisions was to join the club and will now try selling but not optimistic.

The other thing to consider are the yearly fees that usually average 1000 per year. Now I just booked a great place in Chamonix for next June thru airb&B (of course the club has nothing nearby) for 600 USD. So your yearly fee goes a long way with AIRB&B and the choice is a lightyears more. Yes the HGVC properties are beautiful but the choice and availability is so limited that hang up when they call as they have some great sales people who walk the line on misrepresenting (no mention of the above).

When we agreed to come to the Hilton Grand in Las Vegas we were very curious to see what they would have to offer. After all, we were told we'd receive a three night stay and all we'd have to do is listen to a presentation. We do both personal/leisure travel and work/business travel, so we wanted to see if what was being offered made sense for us in our situation. It ended up not being a good fit for us, but the experience we had was one of professional sales people and respectful treatment.

The presentation began with us meeting Melissa, our "Vacation Counselor (VC)" who was very pleasant and friendly--as one might expect a sales person to be. We were led into a room where there were about 8 potential buyers, each with a VC sitting with them. Sean took over the room and guided us through a very professional and thought-provoking presentation, complete with several personal stories and pictures about his family. Other than a stereotypical assumption about men being "workaholics" (as opposed to women), I thought he did an excellent job of making the preliminary case for buying. He used many standard persuasive speaking strategies and I can see why he is in the job/position that he is.

Following the initial 30 minute group presentation we were then escorted to a cubicle area where we spent the next 45 minutes or so interacting with Melissa. This is where we had a very good exchange/conversation discussing our particular travel needs and lifestyle. Melissa was very professional and listened to our situation. She took us through several potential travel scenarios that we offered up as examples of the type of travel we do regularly, and as we went along it became clear that what she was "selling" was not a great fit for us. She certainly made every effort to see how the program, with all its options and iterations, could work for us.

Toward the end she went and got who I would refer to as her "closer" Andrew. They both clearly knew that we were not a good fit for what they were offering, or at least they knew that our perception was such that it was not a good fit; however, they very professionally and politely went through what they needed to. Andrew then left and we wrapped up with Melissa. We did indicate to her (genuinely) that there is at least one person we think who would likely be interested in at least hearing about the program, due to that person's travel needs and lifestyle. We will be passing along Melissa's contact information and perhaps something will come of it. Following the meeting with Melissa we were walked over to a counter where the "refund" was explained to us, and we were given a "voucher" for a future visit to a Hilton.

In the end, when our credit card gets refunded, our stay will end up costing us $1, not including the travel costs to get here. Here is my bottom line: I believe this program is a good fit for some folks and not a good fit for others, just like any "program"--gym membership, travel club, multi-level marketing company, etc. The key is to go in with your "eyes wide open", realize you will receive a very carefully targeted and professionally prepared persuasive "sales pitch", and in the end make a decision if it's a good fit for your travel needs and lifestyle. They know what they're doing with how they've anticipated just about every objection, and they very effectively address these objections using "inoculation techniques"--they bring up the objection before you have a chance to and they have an answer for it.

Be prepared to be "sold to" in a very smooth way--these are professional sales people who know what they're doing. Our experience was NOT one of "high pressure sales", but perhaps others have had different experiences. In the end I enjoyed the experience very much, and Melissa was very professional. Should our travel needs change we would definitely consider contacting Melissa again to see what could be worked out for us.

Hilton offers these short stays to owners of their resorts to look at a new resort and sell you more timeshare points. My recent stay at their new facility in Myrtle Beach was not very favorable. First they cut one day off the normal stay time for these offers. That did not leave you much time to enjoy the resort. You check in after 3pm, the next day you spend a couple of hours hearing about the resort. And the next morning you leave by 10am. With the talk you did not even have a full day to spend there. The place is located in a very tight spot with grounds not decorated well. This is very unusual for this vacation club. They charged for parking where all other resorts have free parking. They are located in a bad section of the island; looked very rundown. They had no restaurant and their store was inadequate. The grocery store nearby was old, dirty and inadequate. The pool area was too small and not pretty. They also had music too loud.

The condo facility was not the quality I am used to getting at a Hilton Vacation Club resort. The furniture was cheap looking, and the walls were not even decorated well. Night time lighting was terrible. One of my other complaints is they always give you a deal for sitting through the sales pitch. They gave a stupid cheap umbrella. There were no discount too given for amusement or restaurants and that was unusual. To get a luggage cart you had to wait over one hour. It appeared they only had two. The kitchen in your condo was not equipped well. There were no placemats, salt and pepper, and many missing cooking and serving dishes. Also the number of glasses and dishes was very low. I would never stay at this resort again. If this is the direction the company is going with their resorts then they have ruined their concept and cheapened a resort that was once at the top.

Lastly, I am very dissatisfied with the exchange organization they use, RPI. Most companies are now using Intropol which was all high end resorts for exchange. When you make an exchange with RPI you do not get anything near the quality of your resort. The last three exchanges have been very disappointing. I ended up leaving each one father a few nights they were so bad.

RCI has slipped and Hilton is going down so I guess the two are hand in hand. When you consider the thousands you pay to purchase in Hilton and the annual maintenance of over $1000 a year, you are not getting a good exchange with RCI. It is time they offer you a chance to join the other exchange company. During my recent sales pitch I learned only 3% of the owners exchange with RCI. That should tell you right there that the RCI exchange is not worth it. But you can never get your money out of buying these resorts so at least a better exchange program would improve it.

I will give you the scoop as I see it. First, don't expect something for nothing. The accommodations were 2 star hotel. Fortunately, I did not have to travel far to get to it. The sales pitch was what I expected, all the pluses as to why you should buy a timeshare, and they were very convincing. The atmosphere, was very pleasant, ocean front view with about 15 other parties getting the same rap. Now I understand why this is performed in September, all the kids are in school and all the seniors become the targets of situational sales pitch.

After purchasing the standard share (15K), we spent the night reviewing online consumer affairs and other gripe sites and came to the conclusion that most likely the ability to obtain a week using your point without fees are small. Nice to have things online but if the service isn't there then why be a club member. The best value is to use the club and have a reduced rate for the nice room. I think this would work out only if the prices remain reduced.

We decided to print the letter in the hotel to stop the contract, and delivered it to the sales reps the next day. Nothing wrong with buyers remorse!! They were professional at all times. They even pointed me to the nearest post office where I sent my letter to the given address via certified mail. Apparently, the post office officer gets lots of business and is very helpful knowing that you are another one to send a certified letter. Overall a bad experience only because the accommodations were poor and entering realville when it comes to need to having a timeshare.

We bought a timeshare with HGVC for 1 1/2 years ago. The attraction was 100% the promise "you can stay at any HGV location for one week anywhere in the world with easy booking and availability". So far we have been unable to book anywhere we actually want to go. With annual maintenance fees, booking fees and rollover points fees, we spent $2400, over the actual purchase cost, for 6 nights in Myrtle Beach! Resale is not an option. A call to the "resale dept." got only a message to leave an email address and they claim they will get back in touch within 21 days. After contacting attorneys and companies that can get you out - for $2500 or more, I learned what legal robbery really is - the timeshare industry. Do not be fooled by the reputation of Hilton. They will steal you blind.

Hilton has always upfront and honest with us in a world of sharks (we own with another company as well). We feel like the timeshare "forces" us to take vacations that we normally wouldn't take. I cannot put a dollar value on the memories. Sure we could get a hotel room, but then we are busy running out to eat and spending more money. The full kitchens and laundry in our rooms allows us to relax much more. Everyone's situation is different. I see people complaining about a 3d/2n vacation for $159 at a Hilton property. Really? Something to think about.

But, you do not walk away defeated forever.

No, with Hilton Grand Vacations BEHIND you there will be a hopeful future for you and your family; no more awful website to try and book a reservation with vernacular that you can never understand like "open season," "home week," "conversion fee," etc.; no more conversations on the phone with persons who while sweet and certainly friendly to pets and other creatures cannot speak clearly nor succinctly; no more hidden fees to convert what you already own to a hotel reservation; no more calls from "Marcus" or "Melody" asking you to pay $159 for a "free" weekend to see the new property that you will never ever go to otherwise; no more clenched fists of rage when you call about resale inquiry and are told your message will be returned "in 21 business days" - Sweet Mary Mother of Our Lord who does business like this?!

I told him I would call back in the a few minutes with my decision. I talked with my husband and we called back again with our new destination choice. This time the rep on the phone raised the price on me. I got angry and asked for a refund and we conveniently got disconnected and the rep did not bother to call back.

So again I called explained the situation and asked for a refund. I was disconnected again. Again I called and finally got met refund. Hilton is running a bait and switch SCAM. I tried to call but all you are able to do is leave an email address and they claim they will get back in touch within 21 days. They reply and tell you that you can sell your time share for $3000 and that the fee is going to be 25% of that. So I reply and it has been near another month and they still have never replied yet. They seem to be milking this out so that it will be time to pay my yearly maintenance fee again, $1400 per year, for something I won't use, once again. I have enjoyed this place for many years but since they were bought out they stink. Stay away from HGVC, stay very far away from them.

Let me start by saying that I was a Hilton honors member for years, and a diamond one at that. I booked a tour with Hilton Grand Vacations in March of this year. I signed up for Myrtle Beach, SC and was put in the Carolinian because the Hilton was apparently full. They had plenty of rooms when I checked online, though. No biggie, the Carolinian was nice enough. I don't remember the name of the girl who took me on my tour but she was very nice, not pushy, and I ended up not buying a timeshare. Then as I'm leaving another woman tries to sell me on another pre-paid tour, this time for 5 to 7 nights depending on where I went, and she assures me that I can cancel at any point as long as it's within so many days of my stay. I thought "why not", this wasn't so bad.

But then I get home and after a few months of making payments for this thing, several factors, including a death in the family, made me realize that this isn't the best time to be planning a vacation. So I call to cancel my plan, only to be told that I can cancel but I won't receive any refund. NONE. So I email them to send my official cancellation, letting them know I was canceling primarily because of a death in the family, and again requested a refund hoping the first lady told me wrong. But I immediately got a curt email back stating that I could cancel but there would be no refund.

IF SOMETHING IS NON REFUNDABLE, IT SHOULD BE SOLD AS SUCH!!! It is deceitful to tell someone you can cancel at any time and not mention that you lose any money paid. I also have a problem with this practice in general. If you aren't providing services and you aren't out anything, you shouldn't be charging people. It's unethical!! So bottom line, Hilton Grand Vacations are deceitful, unethical, crooks, and the vacation packages aren't that grand. I recommend steering clear, unless you are ok with losing any money paid in in the event that you have to cancel.

We purchased at the New York Hilton Club in 2013. We have stayed there four times and are going for our fifth trip next week. The facilities and amenities are great. We also had one stay at the West 57th Street property and one at the Anderson Club in Myrtle Beach. The key to this is to sign up for a home property that you are willing to visit repeatedly. There are two main reasons for this. The first is that you can book at your home property earlier than you can other properties. That makes it easier to get a time you desire. The second is that the amenities tend to be better at the home property. For example, at the New York Hilton, we get breakfast. We also have wine and hors d'oeuvres each evening. When we stayed at the other properties that was not the case.

The cost plus the maintenance fees come out to about $50 per night less than you would have paid to stay at the hotel so while it is cost-effective you are not saving a bundle. That is why it needs to be a place that you can enjoy staying. Travel also needs to be taken into consideration. We are a four-hour drive from New York City. It is close enough for us to get there easily but too far to drive back and forth from home (This from someone who drives two hours each way for Baltimore Ravens' home games). Traveling longer than that and going by air creates more of a hassle factor.

Since we have joined, we have seen approximately 12 Broadway plays and have three more scheduled for next week. Having a hotel in the heart of the theater district works very well for us. Add to that the fact that the initial purchase gave us a week's stay at the Anderson Club in Myrtle Beach for us, our three daughters with husbands and our then 8 grandchildren (we are now up to 10) and it certainly has been cost-effective. Like anything else there are pros and cons to the purchase. It works better for some than for others. There are two kinds of offers. We selected the 20 year option because it was a third of the cost of the permanent ownership which they try to have us do at each owner's update. That is because it works well for us. We will be 87 at the end of the 20 year period so why buy something that will just be a hassle for the children to sell.

Sales people and managers are not honest about the maintenance fees going up. They indicate that they go up and down but it's a trick to avoid the fact that fees progressively go up. Just ask to see a history of the resort they want you to buy in to from day one. There are a lot of fees in place just to use your timeshare; which are separate from the maintenance fees, and they also go up regularly.

I don't usually post reviews either way but I felt it was necessary because of the experience I had while dealing with Hilton Grand Vacations. After booking a room for my brothers wedding I got transferred to HGV for a special offer. After talking with the representative Annetta ** about the special offer she had for me she had convinced me to think about it, now the next part was totally my fault. I should have know better than to give my information over to her....

This happened Wednesday, I had just booked a vacation and asked if I could talk it over with my husband when he got home. She said that would not be a problem. She would give me until Saturday to make my decision and at that time she would process my information if she did not hear back from me before then. This is where it got frustrating....

After my husband got home we decided that we did not really need to take this vacation seeing as we just booked one. Thursday morning I called the number Annetta gave me to call if I did NOT want to take the vacation. She said all I had to do was call this number and they would take care of it. So that's what I did. But after calling and speaking to a gentleman Thomas and his manager they assured me that it is not their policy to charge people's credit card information days after without talking to me. I still wanted more confirmation that so he told me I could call the hotel back and ask to be transferred to the sales department at HGV. So that is what I did, I spoke with 3 different people who had to each time "speak to the manager" and somehow I would either get redirected to another person who had to again speak to the manager or I would get disconnected.

I was starting to feel like this was a scam and I was getting the runaround. I had not confidence that I would get the issue resolved. I finally talked to another representative who told me the same about her not being able to charge my card but that they would get in touch with Annetta and she would call me Saturday before charging my card. I felt good about that and even asked if they put a note in my file about calling me... he said he did.

Fast forward to Saturday morning when I get an e-mail notification from HGV congratulating me on booking my vacation. This completely ruined my Saturday afternoon as I had to spend the next hour on the phone explaining the issue to HGV to get them to remove the charge of around $600 which they did but it would take 3-7 business days for the charge to come off my card.

I'm a former employee of 10 years and a Hilton honors member I never expected that the company I loved working for would do such a thing. I'm so displeased with the service and outcome, even though I'm getting my money back I do not feel satisfied and still feel taken advantage of. Annetta made cancelling the offer seem so easy over the phone.. "Oh yeah all you have to do is call this number and tell them you don't want the offer and your card won't be charged." I thought ok well that would be easy then. I hope this review will help someone not make the same mistakes I did.

I have been with HGVC for nearly ten years. The program isn't all that bad, but there is a real learning curve to the system, and a mix of developer purchases and re-sales seems to work best for me. (There are many who are perfectly content with purchasing just resales. My hat is off to them.) I have been invited to a lot of "Owner Updates" and there certainly have been lots of sales pressure, manipulative tactics and truth stretching. I've done about a dozen of these updates. Preparation and understanding how they come at you is key. Sometimes, a deal might actually be good. Most of the time, it is not. My experiences at Parc have been far and above the worst. The sales guy works on you. Then the finance guy or lady and sales person do their "disappearing" act to check on availability. Sometimes, they will keep you waiting for 45 minutes...in an effort to wear you down.

When they return, they simply restructure the same one or two offers. Suddenly, the one who looks like Fabio (there's always one or two at Parc who looks like Fabio) will ask the other "did you tell him the secret about Maui? Now, don't say this to anyone else." Or, "If we give you all these extra bonus points, you must never tell anyone, please." I spent 8 hours there once. It didn't matter. I am a former Floridian and had time to kill. I went there on my own, wasn't there on a freebie, but I finally told them to knock it off. I once met a former sale rep. He told a slick rep can make up to $300,000 a year. Commissions are enormous. If you don't perform, you are either fired, or become a manager! No wonder why there is such pressure. But the highly skilled reps do in a way that you don't feel it as pressure. They become your best friend. They listen to your problems. They will ask you about your kids.

They happen to have the same hobby you enjoy. They might even admit to your spouse they take the same anti-depressant. They smile. They will offer dream packages they know will make you happy for the rest of your life. You become intoxicated. When you are at your weakest, they go in for the kill. You walk out, having signed everything. I remember going to nearby post office once and seeing several shaken people mailing their "rescission" letters before the deadline. However, many wait until it's too late, and other are happy with their decision. While my sales rep and finance person were in back room "checking availability" and the "best deals" possible, the CEO, Mark Wang, happened to pass by. I have to tell you, he was smartly dressed, but he looked as crooked as they come. He glanced at me, and I saw in him the personification of the worst in the industry--the outright lifting of hard earned money from decent people.

Wang seemed like a man who didn't care about anyone but himself. I wouldn't be surprised if he came up with schlocky ideas like giving Elite Gold door keys to Elite members who spend at least $100K to reach that level. (Such a prestige!) It's OK...another BMW, yet another trip to Bora Bora for Mark. (I am an Elite Plus member and was miffed when he didn't even say hi.) On the other hand, the sales people at the Elara were much friendlier, more considerate of my time, easier to work with, and open to ideas. I have purchased both developer and re-sale properties, and I have been able to "Hiltonize" re-sale properties. "Hiltonizing" has to be done strategically, with a little persistence and attached to a developer purchase. Yet, the only decent perk about Elite Plus is the same year conversion of club points to Hilton Honors points.

I think with all the money Elite members spend to get to that level, management ought to do more to make it truly worth while...i.e. additional annual bonus points that can be used toward maintenance fees. That is by far the biggest single complaint everyone (Elite or not) has. People spend thousands buying properties and are hit with hundreds each year. The standard answers are pretty lame. Management like the uncaring CEO Wang do nothing. Also, the "nickel and diming" is getting worse. A lot of these fees should be free for owners, and free everywhere for Elite. Overall, HGVC's program is more flexible than the others, but too many resorts are clustered in Florida and Vegas. Marriott has many more locations. I do have hope for HGVC. Frankly, if I had to do it over, I would have not given Wang a dime.

When reading bad reviews online, it's always best to try it yourselves, because some people have nothing better to do than complain about everything (I bet not everyone liked your favorite movie when it came out). I have traveled on plenty of marketing promotions with HGVC before recently becoming an owner. First of all, everything in life is based on availability, so when I was told I can travel anytime, common sense tells me that it is based on what is available.

As a seasoned traveler, I am aware that certain times of the year (like holidays) room rates go up, so when you are advised that there is a holiday fee for the time you are looking to travel, it is cheaper to pay the holiday fee than to book directly with the hotels through Hilton.com because it is still discounted. Yes, I was advised of the holiday fee before booking the reservation on a past package, but it is not forced. I had the choice to pick alternate dates or pay the holiday fee, which they worked with me on.

Here's an example that most of you can understand: You prepay for a "plain burger" from your fast food chain of choice, you go in an order, but you ask for a burger with everything on it, fries and a drink. When you are told about the difference you would have to pay based on the extra items added, you get mad and throw a fit, go online and write a bad review on that restaurant. That is sad. I guess maybe I was raised different. I don't lie to get things, and I understand fair is fair, so I have never had to call and complain about something to get something else for free. Based on the reviews I am reading, it looks like a lot of people on here are complaining because they did not get away with whatever they were trying to get away with.

Also for those of you that were "forced" to purchase a package, all I can say is that nobody made you get up, get your credit card, and pay for something you did not want... how about hang up, how about tell them you are not interested? Maybe take the time to listen to what is being offered, and if you don't want it, don't buy it. Simple. Like my mom used to say, "you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar." Think about it.
