I encountered Sunrun through a visit to Costco. At the Sunrun kiosk, a representative captured my interest and arranged for a consultation. The advisor was professional, and we hit it off due to our shared childhood experiences in the same area.
The pre-installation phase was smooth, particularly as some preliminary work with another company had already gotten approval from my Homeowners Association. This streamlined the process, and Sunrun was able to proceed quicker than I had anticipated.
Regarding the installation, though it's a bit of a blur for me, it was fast, completed in less than a day. The team guided me on how to operate the external panel, which simplified things further.
I've been enjoying the solar setup primarily due to the significant reduction in my electric bill. As everything with Sunrun has been running smoothly, I genuinely don't have any complaints at this time.
I have already recommended Sunrun based on my experience, and I'm pleased with my choice to go solar with them.

Sunrun had a positive endorsement at Costco and they have a solid warranty offer. I can confirm that, overall, the quality of the solar panels from Sunrun is excellent. However, my installation experience was marred by complications. The team responsible for the installation accidentally broke some roof tiles, leading to a leak. Unfortunately, when I called for assistance, Sunrun's response was lacking. The representative they sent claimed there was no issue, leaving me to resolve it on my own. As someone in my 50s, I found myself in the awkward position of using a drone to identify the cracked tile and perform the replacement—a task that should’ve been straightforward for them.
While I appreciate the workmanship of the original installers and can understand that such accidents can occur, my expectations were that Sunrun’s service team would rectify their mistake promptly. Their investigative approach leaned more towards absolving responsibility rather than simply fixing what was broken. Basic goodwill efforts, like replacing the cracked tile with one of the spares from the initial installation, could have gone a long way.
I genuinely wished for a smoother resolution and felt disappointed about the service handling, insisting that timely, effective corrections could turn dissatisfied moments into loyal endorsements instead.
Thank you for sharing your story, Kevin. Your feedback helps us continue to improve your solar experience. If you can send your address and review to resolutions@sunrun.com, we'll be able to look into this further for you. Thanks for choosing us as your solar provider!

I always liked the idea of being independent or as close to independent as I can be to sustain my house. Initially, a salesman piqued my interest in solar energy solutions. He was knowledgeable, though I have a few regrets about the financing choices I made at the time. He shared the information needed, which was satisfactory. The crew initially brought the wrong type of inverters for installation, but I insisted on getting the advanced model I had agreed to. Eventually, they delivered and installed the right inverters, which I appreciated. My interactions with the crew were minimal, but the installation was completed correctly in the end.
Now that my system is operational, I've noticed my FPL bill is minimal, thanks to having 39 solar panels. However, I wish I had installed more panels on the roof, particularly on the south side, for maximum electricity production. Currently, during peak sunlight, my system generates enough energy to run significant appliances like my pool pump and fridge while still contributing electricity to the grid. For anyone considering Sunrun, I would recommend them but suggest seeking 0% interest financing options, which can be more beneficial. The most noticeable change since the installation is that my electricity bill has decreased, and on sunny days, my electricity generation is evident.
Samuel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience! We are so thrilled to hear that going solar is helping you save money and help lower your electric bill. We wanted to cut down our electricity bill, which was crucial for us as senior citizens on a fixed income. We had explored a few solar energy companies years ago and found Sunrun to be the most suitable choice for our needs. When we lived in Oakhurst, transitioning to solar energy with them greatly reduced our electricity bills, which significantly helped us manage our expenses. I found their services quite satisfactory. We've recommended Sunrun to several friends, leading some of them to make the switch themselves.

My physician was talking to me about Sunrun while I was getting an exam and I decided to follow up on it. I frequently noticed Sunrun trucks in my area, spurring me to reach out and go with them directly. The sales visit was impressive – their representatives were highly professional. Signing up with Sunrun was straightforward, and they provided all the necessary updated information about California regulations regarding solar panels, which I found very helpful. Over time, I added eight additional panels to keep pace with those regulations.
To track my solar production, I utilize an online account. It’s been quite consistent, though there was one incident where a converter needed replacement. Sunrun’s monitoring team detected the issue and promptly addressed it by sending someone out to fix it. I've had no problems since then, and that was back in 2019. Since installing my solar power system in 2014, my electricity setup has completely changed my life. I haven't paid anything to Southern California Edison, my electricity carrier, for many years.

For anyone considering solar services, I highly recommend Sunrun. It might seem expensive upfront, which can be a barrier for many, but the long-term savings and environmental benefits make it a worthwhile investment.

Updated on 07/29/2026: I have production issues with Sunrun. Per the design documents, my system is supposed to produce 9.6 on the best sun day. This is supposed to be 125% of typical usage. We only get 7.3. This means that when the AC, electric cloths dryer and other appliances are running, we draw power from our utility to meet the remaining demand. Sunrun's canned answer is that the system is healthy and producing and therefore no inspection or maintenance is needed. I have sent screen shots showing the 4 panels out of 24 that underproduce. They say that I am getting production and will do nothing about the system producing less than the specifications in the contract documents. I submitted documents from a consulting engineer showing the system is not performing to design specifications. Same response, "your system is healthy and producing electricity."
Original Review: In the beginning I thought Sunrun would be a good company. However, after two years of having my system I am finding out that the customer support is awful. My system DOES NOT produce power to the level in the design specifications. When I contact support, I am told "Your system is healthy and producing power." If it is producing anything at all, they will not open a trouble ticket. My system us under producing by 2 kW which would run my air conditioning. However, with the max production of 7.3 kW, I still have to draw power from AMREN. I would advise that anyone looking for Solar, run far away from Sunrun.
We're so sorry to hear this, David. We certainly don't want you to feel frustrated. We will be sending you a private message requesting additional account information so that we can get a Specialist assigned to your case. Thanks!

Real things to know about Sunrun. I've experienced a customer service who is inattentive, does not follow up on issues and is in no rush to remedy the issue. My Sunrun system hasn't produced energy in 1 year, since June 2024. I've opened tickets, called, finally got Sunrun to take a look and the issue is with a part that is 4 years old and under warranty. The issue is that since I financed my system instead of a 25 year lease, they do not attempt to replace the part and get the system back online. They also want to charge for any labor and parts as this is a financed system. I would avoid Sunrun for their customer service alone, but after dealing with this issue, I will no longer recommend them as I have in the past.

I went green with Sunrun. It’s good to be able to lower the electrical bill, because I did have one before that I canceled the next day because of the wife.
I had it installed on the back side of the house and, in the summertime, it’s great. But the sun hits more of the front during wintertime. If I had known what I know now, I’d put half in the back, put half in the front, but it is what it is.
I had somebody come out not too long ago, I don’t know if it was Dominion or Sunrun, to see if we could get it all the way down to zero, and he said we have to get a couple more solar panels.

I’m trying to refer somebody to Sunrun, but they reject the project because Sunrun is no longer making deals with OUC Utility starting February of this year. I think that OUC is gonna change the net metering program.

In the summer, my bills used to be close to $400 on the summer. That's one of the reasons why I went to Sunrun. When they offered in New Hampshire, I jumped right on it. We have Sunrun for two years in our house in New Hampshire, and we've had them here in Boston for about three or four years. We were referred by a friend, and four years ago, there weren't as many companies like them as there are now. Sunrun decreased my electric bill. My house in the city, I haven't had an electric bill in two years. But in New Hampshire, we’ve had more difficulties. I was guaranteed that I was at 118% efficiency. I'm not even maxing that and I have had to pay some chunky bills in the summer.
Although my bill has decreased, it's not the same results that I have here in Boston. Through my conversations multiple times with representatives at Sunrun, I really believe that they needed to look at the design. It depends on the time of day or the year, whether the back or the front of the house gets a lot of sun. Sunrun guaranteed that the system would produce, and I'd be really happy. I've done nothing but argue, though.
In the summer, I'm still getting bills of about $200 to $300, and I should be making that all-year long. I don't feel like anybody's giving me a resolution. I was guaranteed 118% productivity. But what I'm seeing on my dashboard, we're lucky we're hitting 70%. We need more panels. They did send their Freedom Forever people to look at it last year. The one guy didn't show, but the second guy did show, and he said, "You were slated for eight panels and you gotta cut down trees." I said, "No. They never told us we'd have to cut down any trees. They told us we had plenty of sun on my house." I got really tired. I didn't wanna cut down trees. It's nature and that's not my thing.
My brother and I both have homes in New Hampshire in a circle. I talked my brother into getting Sunrun, and he's having the same issues. He also argued that they didn't tell him to cut down trees. He was told he’s at 120%. He wanted it to work so well that he ended up taking a chunk of money out and cutting down trees around his house.
I know it works and how the benefits are. I would work for the company and tell people how much it works, but somebody's gotta figure out my New Hampshire house. I'm upset that I'm paying that lease and I still have high electric bills. I would have cut down the trees in the beginning if they had said so. But they said, "You don't have to. We have aerial photos. You're fine and you're gonna get the same results." It would be great if somebody from Sunrun contacted me because I’m getting tired of calling and they tell me the same thing over and over again.
Thanks for reaching out and letting us know, Debra! We're really sorry to hear that your system isn't working as expected. We'd be happy to take a closer look at its performance and any other concerns you might have. We've assigned an Escalation Expert who will review your account and reach out to you as soon as possible to help resolve your concerns. Someone I know spoke to one of the Sunrun reps and they liked him. I used them and was very pleased. I’ve had them for about two years now. I’ve definitely noticed changes with the energy bill, and I also have a heat pump. I'm saving the environment a little bit. However, the last time we had heavy snow, the snow came off the panels to where my bushes are located, but that's the only problem I have. I don't know if there's anything they can do for that or it's the way the setup is. If it was gonna be anything extra, I don’t wanna get involved in that.

In 1982, I put passive solar on my house so I knew a little about solar. I was just waiting for better opportunities. A lot of people have knocked on my doors. But Sunrun was in cahoots with the electric company and the State of Massachusetts—not that they're the most reputable businesses, but I figured they were better than the others. When the sun's out, the panels are working out very good for me. I have a meter out back so I check that. When I get my electric bill, it says, "No payment due." I recommended Sunrun and two of my neighbors picked up afterwards after I told them. It was a good deal.

I heard about Sunrun through Costco. The salesperson came to our home to do a presentation. They seemed to know what they were talking about, and everything they explained made sense. The installation didn’t take long at all. They put the panels up in a single day.
We’ve had the Sunrun solar system for about three years. We didn’t purchase the battery at the time because I didn’t feel it was cost-effective. We currently have 12 panels installed, and I’m getting ready to add more. They’re going to install 15 additional panels.
Initially, what Sunrun did was take the previous year’s electric bills, even though we had only been in the home for about three months. I didn’t think those bills reflected our usage because the person who lived here before us was a single occupant. I felt like we could have done better with the number of panels.
One of the reasons I feel that way is because our neighbors who have solar panels have almost three times as many as we do. It seemed like Sunrun had the wrong idea about our energy needs right from the start when they decided to install only 12 panels. So, they had to do a lot of convincing to get me to agree to the additional 15 panels.
This new group from Sunrun seems to know what they’re doing. They listened to me and understood my concerns. They could see we needed to get on the same page, and we did. I still think the cost is a bit inflated, but you get what you pay for.

I cannot remember exactly how we first heard about Sunrun. It was 8, 9, maybe 10 years ago. But every experience we've had with them has been absolutely outstanding, from installation, permits, quality of workmanship, cleanliness of the work site, everything has been wonderful.
They monitored our system, and if it wasn't performing up to par, they would send someone out. They checked the system from the outside, tweaked it, and that's all it needed. And then they gave me a credit because it had gone on for a couple of months, I wasn't getting the full, I don't know what you call it, it's not voltage, but whatever it was. I can't tell you how good they've been.
I don't track it at all. All I do is pay my UI bill once a month. And every year, somehow, I get a credit. And I don't have to pay UI for a couple of months. But I do look at my UI bill, and I see how much I have banked, especially in the winter.
I have an in-ground pool and a nine-room house. It's air-conditioned in the summer. My bill was $500 at the beginning when I first got Sunrun. I've had only two electric bills above just the hookup bill in all those years, 9 or 10 years that we've had this. I've only had two bills. They were somewhere around 40 bucks. And if you look at that bill, $25 to $30 of that is all these add-ons that the state adds on. So, those two bills that I've gotten in 10 years, I would say 90% to 95% were add-ons and not the actual usage that I overused my solar.
It's a 10. I brag about it all the time. They've been marvelous, marvelous, marvelous.

Someone was going around door-to-door to inform people in my area about Sunrun. And I was always curious about having solar compared to the regular electrical power to see whether I could save some money.
The switching process was very easy. The rep was very friendly. He took the time to explain everything and break it down for me, and to compare what it is like to have the electrical bill, how we're charged compared to Sunrun.
I still get a bill from my electrical company. And it usually shows me if I have a negative balance with them. I know that I'm definitely producing more than what I'm using up. And for that, I’m extremely satisfied. I've been able to save a lot of money because right now, the electrical bills are much higher with the electrical companies. And I really do not have a bill with Sunrun. I just pay my monthly fees.
I have been telling a lot of people about Sunrun and they should be paying me for that. I've been letting them know how much I've saved, and that I do not have a bill anymore from the electrical company. My husband got a few of his friends in Connecticut to get solar from Sunrun. Enrollment was super easy. Frederico came out and spent some amount of time with me going over the process and what I could hope to obtain in savings on my energy bill. He laid it all out—what they were gonna do, that it was gonna be no cost to me, and I can lease the system. If I didn't like it, they would take it back and they'd fix any problems with it. Wow! It sounded like a no-brainer to me, and it turns out I was correct. I'm very satisfied.
The installation was seamless. They sent a team out, and they brought all materials in and went up on the roof. They replaced any cracked tiles. They even had to relocate a vent pipe from one of the bathrooms to make the system fit. They took care of that and went to my attic. They were fantastic. You can see the system from the street. It's on the front of my house. It's not unsightly at all. Actually, I think it adds to the house.
There was even a leak that Sunrun had to come and fix, and they took care of that. There was a water leak on the roof. It was a spot. They took the panels off, fixed the leak, and put the tiles back on. It's been fine ever since and there was not one dime out of my pocket.
I have two monitors on the side of the house that show me that the panels are generating. They also installed a meter, and it shows me how many kilowatt-hours I'm producing depending on the sunlight. Of course, at night time, there's 0. But during the day, with total sunlight and no clouds, it's producing a lot. I can see the numbers on the meter.
It's a big house. I got two air conditioners and there’s a pool. I'm paying substantially less a month now. I still have to stay on the grid, so if I'm using a lot of power at night with no solar, my bill could go up on NV Energy a bit. But the good news is when I'm not using it and I'm saving energy, it goes back to them and I get a credit from NV Energy. My bill for them is $19.48 a month. There has been an occasion where it's gone up a little bit, 30-40 bucks, but for the most part, it stays right about $19 on top of what I pay to Sunrun. I’ve also referred several friends and I've even gotten a rebate. The people who have installed it love it.

We started in late November of 2019 and we went live in February of 2020. My sales rep was very helpful. He helped work with my HOA, which got the things rolling quickly. That was really what I needed to happen because of tax benefits. He was good. Once the installation was done, everything seemed to be fine. I was pleased. My electric bill is going down considerably. I was paying $350 a month. Last year, I paid $95 a year. That's a considerable savings.

I installed and paid for a Sunrun 41 panel system in my Las Vegas home March of 2025. In my first full bill from NV Energy, I noticed it was producing 2/3 of projected output. I started reaching out May 22, 2025 and after several e-mails I was told that it looks like 1/3 of the system is not connected correctly. This was done remotely, no in person visit. I asked when they were going to fix it, and without even a phone call I get a DocuSign invoice for me to pay $649 to diagnose the system. I paid over $55k cash a few months ago, and you want me to pay in the 1st couple of months for you to figure out what you did wrong? Makes me wonder if maybe they need a drug policy over there. I hired Sunrun, which was NOT the cheapest vendor, to avoid this sort of shenanigans.

My husband was the one who got the solar system in 2017. The young salesman presented it very well, and my husband ended up leasing the system. He’s passed away since, so now I’m the one leasing it. All my lease bills are extravagant. I could get cheaper bills with PG&E.
When it rained, we had leaks. Sunrun sent a yo-yo to look at the roof and all the things that were up there. I didn’t do what he told me to do. I had to have it patched on my dime because Sunrun said it was not their fault that it was leaking. But they did some damage to my roof, which was confirmed by a handyman. I’m very unhappy with Sunrun.
Anita, we're sorry to hear about your experience, and we're especially sorry about the loss of your husband. So, Sunrun is a good company, and I’ve been satisfied with their product.

Sunrun had someone come out and do a presentation. It was okay and I agreed to do it. Now I think it was not explained that well to me. I am not very happy because by the time that I'm done with this, I'm going to be paying a lot more to Sunrun than I ever would have paid for my energy bill per month. He said it would only go up a couple of percentage. He didn't make it sound like it will be every year. Now I’m in a contract where I have to stick with this. By the time it's over with, I'll be paying almost 500 bucks a month. On top of the fact that I'm not banking any energy, I have sun during the summer, but I don't have it during the winter. The energy I don't use during the summer doesn’t get to be used during the winter.
I am not happy. If there's a way I can get out of this, I would do it. I don't understand why it was explained that during the summer, if I had excess, that it would carry over in the winter. It’s not. I don't know what the heck happened. I tried to contact Sunrun at one point and I just gave up.
I would not recommend Sunrun to anyone, knowing what it is. At the beginning, it was awesome. But since everything's been hooked up, it's been icky.

Customer service is verbally abusive and taunts customers. The sales contract is 54 pages long and you are pressured to DocuSign in minutes. No way to read all the horrendous fine print legalese, where they basically own you, control your home and you are stuck with them for 25 years. I wish I had never signed up. They are impossible to get a hold of- it takes multiple calls, voicemails, calling for supervisors, and when you finally get a response, the person who responds is clearly undertrained and puts you off yet again. They send out repair people who admit lack of experience. They say you can use your own roofer to repair, but won't approve their quote. Go with ANY other company. Do not get ripped off. You basically have to be an expert on contract laws *and* the electrical industry to get an acceptable deal with large solar corporations such as Sunrun. For example, when the telemetry on my system stopped working, I was told to pay $584.00 for a "System Performance Investigation." Bear in mind that if you get someone else (i.e. not Sunrun) to do the diagnosis and/or repair, they will void your warranty. With the advent of NEM 3.0, I doubt that you would save money on your energy bills getting solar panels on your roof especially if you are just an average consumer of energy at around 500-600 kWh/month. But if you consume more energy than that, maybe it would make sense to get solar panels; just do your research first.

We are so pleased with our experience working with Sunrun. We had panels installed a few years ago and they have worked beautifully. We had some problems at the beginning with our Wi-Fi connection mostly because we live out in the country and our Wi-Fi was inconsistent. But the Sunrun technicians came out promptly and made everything work as it should.
This year our old, gas generator finally quit on us and we decided to get back up batteries installed. We called Sunrun and they were up and running in less than two months, just in time for fire season. We are so pleased with the batteries. They come on instantly when there is a power outage. The app that came with them has taught us so much about how much electricity we use and even what appliances use the most. It also tells us when we are using battery power and when we are getting electricity from the grid. I check the app every day to make sure our solar panels are working, and I am learning how to conserve electricity so much more efficiently. We couldn’t be more pleased with Sunrun. It has been a wonderful experience to or with such a professional company.

Run, run far and fast. They installed the panels where the two-story next door blocks all morning sun. They sent one man out in 2018 or 2019 to move a few panels himself. When he left, he said they will return with a solar eye. I was told my panels would need to be raised to catch the sun. Never came back out. In 2018 and 2019 they confirmed that I was not producing as I should be, but after that, with no changes, I suddenly get what I pay for. Only I don't. They claim they can not "locate you" and close cases. Granted, I am right below their solar panels, US mail can find me, but they don't send mail when you have auto pay. Stay away. They don't care about customers once they have the contract signed and will do all they can to void warranties, while blaming the consumer.

I love Sunrun. I’m thrilled with them. We live in New Hampshire, where electricity rates are some of the highest in the country, and it was terrible. When my children were young, we had electric heat, and back in the early ’90s our bill was $500 a month. The standard of living in New Hampshire isn’t that high.
It’s been about two years now since I’ve been on the program, whatever they call it. Last year, the power company actually had to pay me at the end of the year. It was awesome.
I didn’t have any cash. They came in and did some work in my attic and took care of everything at no additional cost. The young man who sold me the system was good. He was always available and easy to reach. I have a great location for solar, I generate a lot of power, especially on sunny days. I’ve never had any problems.
One time, I had to call about something, and a young man came out. He helped me download the app so I could check and make sure all my panels were running. Every once in a while, Sometimes I’ll get a notice saying something’s going on, the snow falls off.
Honestly, I recommend it to everyone. We even had extra people living here this past winter, and our bill was still very small. Compared to what we used to pay and with rates continuing to rise in New Hampshire, it’s a huge difference. It used to be called Public Service, but now I call it Public Disservice.
They built a power plant back in the ’70s, and the consumers had to pay for it. It’s right on the coast, and New Hampshire doesn’t have much coastline, only about 17 miles and it’s very crowded. There’s a nuclear power plant in the state, but we don’t even get the power from it, they sell it to Canada. Yet we still have to pay for the nuclear plant.
The state doesn’t have much control over the utility. There’s a utilities commission, but they just rubber-stamp every rate increase. There’s really no accountability, we’re at their mercy. That’s why I appreciate this so much, and I would definitely recommend it. Plus, there’s a lot of possibilities. My nephew even suggested that I get a solar car which I’m looking into now.
My salesman said they used to cut everyone a check quarterly, but then it became once a year. They sent a tax form like a 1099-B and getting it was like pulling teeth. I couldn’t get the form, then sign it, and there were all these arbitrary deadlines. I kept thinking what’s going on. They owe me money, why do I have to jump through hoops. But they finally got it done.
The young men they hired, the contractors who came into my home and installed the panels were very professional. I’ve never had any trouble with the panels. They’re very knowledgeable, understand all the math, and even handled our roof, which was almost too steep. They knew the angles and everything, they were very intelligent and helpful.
We're thrilled you had a good experience, Mary! We really appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Thank you for playing such an important role in our solar community and for helping us create a planet run by the sun!

All the materials were here and the crew did a great job. They cleaned up well afterwards. Over the course of a year, we net out to zero electricity payment. We overproduce and balance out the electricity we have to purchase during off hours. I love it. All in all, I've been very impressed with Sunrun’s consistently good customer service.

The person who came here was professional. But I didn't ask how much do we have to pay monthly. At the beginning, it was free then we just find out that the amount that we need to pay is a lot. But we are just in there. So, we have to keep it.
They even forced the use of it, saying it's going to help us with the bill. But when you get both, you can notice that it's not the way that they said. Sometimes the electricity comes a little lower, but if you put the monthly amount that you had to pay for the solar panel, I don’t see a difference.

I first met with a sales rep on April 7, 2025. He was very upfront about issues the company has had or was accused of. I had also done my extensive research, so I was ready with my questions regarding the same things. Do your research and that means more than just reading bad reviews. Understand the contract terms, ask questions, and make sure you are good with them for you and your situation. Do the math and count the costs. You can say NO. Is every term perfect? Probably not, but when weighed against the high cost of electricity and not having solar, the alternative is buying solar out of pocket and waiting a long time to see a return on investment, plus the high cost of maintenance of the solar panels if not leased.
I did the math. I chose leasing because my monthly bill will be set for a while, and small increases would take a while to beat the overall cost of not having solar. Consider the fact that some utility companies will give you a credit for any solar you send back to them. Choose what is best for you, not based on others' horrible experiences found all over the internet. I look for logical and clear reviews and pay attention to the positive and negative ones that seem reasonable. I also dig deeper into the company and understand the best I can if they have had issues in the past, what are they doing now? That's all part of being an informed consumer.
After I met with my sales rep, everything moved faster than they or I ever expected. The only delay was with the utility company and them trying to send me a final document to be signed electronically. It sat for 2 weeks before I knew it was an issue. This was not a SunRun issue; this was with the utility company. Although my sales rep was straightforward that it could take 4-6 weeks to be approved by the Utility company, I figured this into the delay. Everything moved quickly as soon as the document was signed and the utility company finalized and approved it. I was contacted yesterday, 5/13, to make an appointment for installation; there was an opening for today. The crew arrived at 8:00 a.m. and left by 2:30 p.m. Installation was complete on 5/14. The lead installer was terrific, friendly, communicated well, and often right up to the end.
I have ZERO complaints up until this point! I have read so many horrible reviews for this company, but we all need to consider that, like any large company, there will be many factors regarding good/excellent and bad/average customer service. Bad things happen; what seems reasonable to one person may be unreasonable to another. Until now, every person I have been in contact with has been professional, helpful, friendly, and open to any questions or concerns.
If you are considering Sunrun, I suggest first finding reviews from your local area. These are the people you will be working with the most. Assess everything step by step, including every person you come into contact with and your experience with them, right up to the installers. If your install team makes you uncomfortable, talk to your sales rep before you let them put anything on your roof. If your sales rep cares it will show, if they don't you will know. My sales rep was texting me soon after the install contact reached out, but they couldn't reach me - they were in sync, and I got a call back quickly from the install lead. Now time will tell. But for now I am giving FIVE STARS!
We're thrilled you are having a great experience with us, Janet! We really appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Thank you for playing such an important role in our solar community and for helping us create a planet run by the sun!

Sunrun’s presentation went well so I went with them. Their customer service was good. It took a month for the installation to happen, which was reasonable. The installation of the panels on the roof took a day. There were fewer than 30 panels. It took a while to set up the other components. Once setup, the system is very easy to operate. Sunrun has worked out very well. I expected that I would store more energy than I actually did. But I'm still getting a bill from my electric company. I reached out to Sunrun about that and it was a good experience. They explained what I needed to do to reduce the bill from the electric company. My bill has gone down significantly.

We are SunRun customers for 9 years. We would give 0 stars if possible. This company is horrible. We had a leak that was "repaired". it was a disgrace. To recap the entire experience as briefly as possible, had a leak under the panels, found the leak due to water damage on a bedroom ceiling, this was in late 2024. SunRun inspected, sent sub-contractors out to repair the roof, which included replacing plywood that had obvious water damage. The sub-contractor removed the shingles and replace the shingles. We notified SunRun that the plywood was not replaced, they resent sub-contractors to replace the plywood and re-shingle. We sent a drone up for pictures, work was pathetic, a child could have done a better job.
We realized that the roof was now 30 years old, these panels were installed on a 21 year old roof, that they inspected and approved. Also was told that it would be their responsibility to re-roof during the term of the contract (20 year lease), they outright LIED about this. Through this process, we found that the warranty is only for 10 years! BE AWARE!!! Read the contract!
Long story short, we asked them to remove the remaining 18 panels so that we could put a new roof on our house, at our cost and they refused to do this for free. Honestly, we could have asked them to re-roof the side of the house that holds the solar panels since, we are still within our 10-year warranty. BUT, we don't want anything to do with their sub-contractors as we have seen the horrible job that they did to repair our leak. UNBELIEVABLE! They now have a VERY disgruntled customer that will tell everyone they know and anyone they meet not to use SUN RUN! Horrible experience! So much more to this but, please protect yourself and stay away from SUN RUN

I saw Sunrun on the internet and I got in touch with them and their team to provide the presentation. They went over the cost factors and the different options I had. I could either buy the system outright and purchase a separate maintenance plan, or I could lease it, which would include the maintenance program. They also explained the cost differences and what kind of savings I might expect.
The time between the presentation and installation took about six months because they ran into a problem with the local power company regarding the installation, especially the signage.
Most of the work was done in one day and completed. The only delay was with Ameren over the signage, what they wanted and where, which took a few weeks to sort out. That’s on Ameren, not Sunrun.
The only cost I usually cover is the fee for running the power lines to your home. Now, I also got hit with a $20–$30 tax from the State of Illinois. Since I have natural gas, the savings haven’t been that great. I still need to figure out what to do about that.
The company and its people have always answered my questions and listened to what I wanted to say. They’re an excellent company.
I wasn’t surprised by the price or what I got from the product. They were upfront about the cost and the expected savings, and so far, they’ve been right on the money.

Sunrun was right up front with me for installing the solar panels. And then they had asked, because if your bill is a certain allotment, you can either get it in monetary form or you could get a credit on your bill, and I wanted a credit on my bill. I haven't had a problem with anything.
I spoke to the gentleman, John. He was very honest with what Sunrun had to offer, the procedures to do before they got ready to install the solar panels, and how the electricity was going to be shut down.
They told me the installation was gonna last a day, and so they did exactly that. They started in the morning. When they did the assessment, they turned around and looked at the perimeter of the house and where the sun was coming in.
I didn't have a problem with it because my electricity was up to code, and because my roof was only 10 years old or so. When they did the installation of the solar panel, they explained to me to just pull the lever down if there was ever a fire, and it would automatically shut off all the electricity.
Everything was fine, and they were able to start the work. Three guys did the installation. And they were very nice and professional.
They also asked me if I wanted a generator in case the power went out during the storm, and the electricity that was stored would be in the generator. I said no, that wouldn't be necessary. They also gave me options about the monthly payment.
At the time, I was using a lot of electricity because I had a couple of relatives living with me. So, my bill was high. And they would tell me eventually they would start to see that go down because of the Sunrun.
They also send me updated emails with my bill and any promotional things that they have, they keep me in the loop. And then if I turn around and I refer somebody, you have incentives for that, but I haven't been able to do that.
I didn't pay for my panels. I'm renting them. So, if I have any problems with my roof, they'll take care of all of that because that's their product.

Three months after they put it in, the solar was off until last month. So, we've been paying Sunrun and National Grid at the same time.
Right now, I can't tell if it works well or not, because they just fixed it two weeks ago. But I'm satisfied, and I refer them to my neighbors, and in so many places. There were like three to four people who already got Sunrun.

There was a little bit of delay getting the permits but that was more on the utility company dragging their feet. But other than that, everything was good. From what I can see, the panels are well-made materials and pricing is good. We went from 1,400 to the 300 a month we pay for the panels and I’m okay with that. I was already interested in solar when I moved to Florida and wanted a house that had it. I ended up buying a place with Sunrun panels, but the system wasn’t fully paid off yet. I just took over the contract and transferred it into my name from the previous owner.
I haven’t needed to talk to them much because the system has been mostly fine. There was one time Sunrun had to fix something. They actually discovered the issue before I even noticed and told me about it. It was an inverter or something that needed to be repaired. They called me, said they’d come out to fix it, and they did.
You’re supposed to be able to read how much energy the panels produce on the meter, but it’s really awkward to read. It’s easier to check through Duke Energy for how much they pay me back since it’s connected to the power company.
I pay a predictable amount with Sunrun, and it’s a lot lower than what most people around me pay for electricity. My bill is only about $30 a month. That’s how I measure it, just comparing my costs to everyone else's. You can read the meter outside if you want, but it’s not important to me.
I’ve been very happy with Sunrun. The system just works, and I haven’t had any problems, even through hurricanes. They leave you alone and don’t call a million times. They only come out when something actually needs to be fixed.
I moved into the house by myself, but the previous family had five people, so the number of panels was based on their usage. That’s why I’m always selling power back to Duke Energy. It’s really nice.

Sunrun bought out the company I originally went with. They've been good. I had some problems when they first bought and took over, but it wasn't their fault. It was the mechanics or whoever put it on the roof the first time. It was done wrong. When they finally came in, they subsidized my down time and made it all right.
The agreement I had with the first solar company was that anything my unit made over the bill, they would gave it back to me. And then when Sunrun came in, they didn't. I called and talked to one of the girls and said I used to get a rebate and a couple months ago, I had to pay $450 Edison bill. So I sent them copies of the bill. They took care of it. It looks like I'll get a negative payment from them for maybe the next six months. That's fair.
Hopefully, whatever it is, we got it all straightened out. We did have some downtime, but honestly, I don't think it was Sunrun’s fault. I think it was a transaction of the two companies going together.

I was looking for a way to change how much we're paying for electricity, and Sunrun came up with the highest rating and fewer issues. Installation was perfect. Six people came and had all the panels on the roof on quickly. They had the Powerwall and all the hookups done within a couple of hours. While they were doing the roof, there was a couple downstairs that were doing the other part.
it took about six weeks before it was turned on. When it was turned on, it was probably two months before I noticed savings in my electric bill. It's gone down past 0 where they're paying me.
The Powerwall is awesome. I wish I would have been smart about it when I did it and got two Powerwalls, because one Powerwall won't run the whole house for 24 hours. It'll run for about 16 hours. I should have put two in. And I've tried many times talking to the company and talking to the office in Rocky Hill, trying to get another Powerwall installed, but they said the company won't do it. I don't know why. I would like to have another one.

I worked with a Sunrun representative and we went over what appliances we had and put a number on the load that we had. One of the things I wanted to accomplish was to have a battery backup in case our power went out from the utility, and so, we just sized the system accordingly and put the batteries and the solar panels according to the load that we would need.
We have two batteries. When we have an outage, the battery backup lets us have power even if it's at night, which has happened. It lets us ride through that outage, so I've been happy with everything.
It took a while, though, so one has to plan in advance. But once we had everything in place, the installation was quite smooth. The people who came to do the work were very professional and took feedback. We had an issue where one of the conduits leading from the panels down below was sticking up in the view from the bedroom.
And I mentioned that, and they rerouted the conduit, no questions asked, and took care of everything. It was pretty smooth from beginning to end.
We're thrilled you had a good experience, James! We really appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Thank you for playing such an important role in our solar community and for helping us create a planet run by the sun!

I was interested in renewable energy. I inquired with Sunrun and I got a response. A guy named Frank came to my house and he told me what they can do for me, the panels they would put and the options I have. He came the second time to take an aerial view of my roof and how much I could save. It sounded like a good plan for me. It was affordable, it was better for all purposes, saving electricity and even greenhouse effect. That was around 2018 but that was a good experience.
Fast forward to 2023 I had a communication with a person from Colorado Sunrun. He was really nice, helpful, positive and upbeat. They were going to do some additional things like re-roof the house and he was going to put some more solar panels. There will be two Tesla batteries added to the existing 16 panels. He had everything outlined and we had the association approval.
The issue was who was going to come up with $4,000 because he was trying to get all the incentives from having a solar and stuff that would be put onto the house. But we were coming up short with the re-roofing and the labor to remove the solar water heating that came with the house originally. And then, communication just dropped. He said he was busy.
Last year, I had another company come by and it was a good deal so I went with them. They installed additional panels and put a new central AC unit. But the interest rate is high and I didn’t have a good experience during their installation. But since I really wanted the new roof, the extra batteries and the photovoltaic panels, I still have Sunrun and then I have this other company. It's expensive every month and I haven't received the rebate for it yet. Still, Sunrun has always done me good and their app is easy to use.

I think it’s challenging because the system only works when the weather cooperates, and lately it hasn’t. I could have a million panels on my roof and it wouldn’t make a difference. But when the weather does cooperate, it is operating as it's intended.

The installation was fine, but trying to get panels removed for roofing or any technical work on them is nearly impossible. Over a three-year period, the minimum time it has taken to get a service appointment is four weeks. Currently rescheduling an appointment for the third time because they have been unable to send the number of techs needed for the job, which means we are now going over two months because they can't book anything promptly, and even if they mess up, you get to wait.
However, if you get assigned to a case worker, your calls, texts, and e-mails will be ignored, which also annoys their service team, who can only tell you they tried to contact the case worker but got no one to pick up. Regarding your contract, they will gladly cancel it without notice if it looks like your system will underperform what they said it would do. On a positive note, when the tech does come out, they are polite, and you have to feel sorry for them when they apologize for not being able to do what is needed because the appointment was not set up for enough workers. Sunrun does sales and install fine, but they don't appear to need you after you sign the contract.

From the outset, I felt considerable pressure to make a purchase after Sunrun visited my home multiple times. While I initially indicated that I was exploring options for a solar system and a reputable company, I began to sense a sense of urgency that made me uncomfortable. After taking a pause of approximately two weeks, Sunrun returned, and we reached an agreement. During our discussions, we highlighted the benefits of solar energy, particularly the potential savings and reimbursements available through Southern California Edison. Based on our calculations, our current annual expenditure of $1,200–$1,400 could be significantly reduced with a new system, which prompted us to proceed with the installation.
We have now been customers of Vivint/Sunrun for approximately four to five years, during which we have encountered multiple issues. Initially, we received a partial system that lacked a backup battery. Following several blackouts and the subsequent loss of perishable food, we contacted the company, only to be informed that our system was incomplete. They subsequently added more panels to the front of our home, despite our explicit request not to do so. Additionally, we now receive two separate bills for two systems, which is inconvenient—why can't these be consolidated into a single statement?
Furthermore, while our maximum annual energy costs previously totaled around $1,500, we are now paying approximately $2,600 per year—almost double our original expense. Most concerning, however, is the issue of residuals. Over the past four years, our end-of-year billing has consistently shown a surplus of at least $1,200, which we have never received. In 2025, we received an end-of-year bill of $1,500 from SCE, despite having made a formal request in 2024 to receive our residual payments directly. It appears we were in credit during years when we did not request these payments, yet now we are being billed by the company for services we do not use.
In summary, our energy expenses have increased substantially since switching to solar, from an average of $1,400 annually with SCE alone to a combined total of approximately $4,088 per year. This situation raises serious questions about the benefits of this investment. As a consumer, I am deeply dissatisfied with the increased costs and the lack of transparency. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend solar energy to others under these circumstances. I am seeking assistance to resolve these issues.

A Sunrun rep was going around our neighborhood and their price made me want to sign up. Enrolling was easy. The salesperson looked at our year of SDG&E and how much energy we used and then determined how many panels would produce that amount of energy. My husband and I talked about it and said that we felt we should get more if we were going to be able to use the air conditioner so that's what we did. We signed up two years ago and I didn't have a true-up last year. I think that was because my husband got confused. When we got rid of our spa, he thought he turned off the trip for the spa but it was for the solar. It was right when we were having a heat wave and I was using the air conditioner. I got a message from Sunrun that our panels weren't working. The guy came out and he said the trip got turned off. But I had a true-up a lot this year.

We purchased our home in 2013, which came with leased solar panels that were fully paid for by the previous owners. Unfortunately, the number of panels installed has never been sufficient for our energy usage, resulting in consistently high electricity bills compared to our previous home. I initially raised concerns about the high electric bills, but it took several months for a technician to be dispatched. A few years ago, during a required communication system upgrade, a Sunrun representative identified a component that needed repair or replacement. While a microinverter was replaced, our electric bill increased significantly the following month.
I reported the issue again, and another technician confirmed that an additional microinverter was needed. I was informed that it had been ordered in May 2024. Since then, I've received periodic emails indicating the part has still not arrived. Nearly a year later, the issue remains unresolved, and I continue to pay close to $400 per month in electricity costs.

Their subcontractors made mistakes during the roofing process, which disrupted my family's life, especially with two small children at home. I was promised follow-ups and support, but instead, I was ignored, manipulated into signing revised contracts, and then blamed for their internal issues. It took Sunrun four months to install my panels. And right now, I'm paying $349 for the panels, but I'm also paying $200 for my electrical bills. If I'm paying panels, why should I pay electrical bills? I thought that panels are for saving energy and to save bill but I'm not saving anything. I'm losing money.
I called them and they told me that they were going to give me a call back. They're going to see my bill. I sent them a copy of my bill but they haven’t talked to me for the past two months. They told me they could save me thousands of money but then they’re telling me to get a battery for $10,000. I still owe three years on my panels, and yet they want me to pay additional $10,000 just to install a battery for the peak hours.
They said my panels are very good and they get energy, but why can’t I use my energy for the peak hours? If my panels are fully loaded, why should I waste energy? I wanted to know why I'm paying too much money for my bill. This situation could be between them and the electrical company. The electrical company would say I have solar panels that gives all the energy I want and that I shouldn’t be charged in the peak hours.
Sunrun wants to screw me over because they told me I need a battery to keep the energy. I have 17 panels which is enough to last me a year. They want me to save energy by using the battery so they could resell it to the energy company. I'd rather keep my regular electrical bill and deal with it.

I only had it for two years. But so far, no issues that I can tell, which is amazing. I did call Sunrun twice to actually request additional quotes on adding a battery to our system. But then they said that they couldn't. Even though the hardware is there for some reason, they couldn't because it was under a new different program. So that was a little unfortunate. The installation was fantastic, it didn't take that long. There was no mess when they left. I would have not known he was here. It was fast and easy.
I was upset, but with Duke because this past November up until last month, our electric bills were sky high. I notified Dan about that, and I called Sunrun to see if I had enough panels, and they sent me a chart showing how much I had gone over. Which is still a puzzlement because we had nothing different than what we’d done from the minute we’d gotten solar. I thought the meter was wrong.
Then all of a sudden, this past month, our bill dropped back down to $30, which is what it has been all this time except for that five-month period. Someone said the sun was not as hot during those months. Now I’m going to see how it’s going to go.
I already have the app, and I have received from Sunrun how much it’s producing. I suppose I need to take that number and compare it with my bill that I got from Duke.
Dan has called me several times asking if everything was okay. As far as Sunrun is concerned, I have nothing bad to say about them. I have never had any problem with them. I really haven’t had a lot of communication with them either because I really have no reason to call them. We had a very good experience with Sunrun.

You're gonna just read the fine print when they're there. But it was okay. The reps calculated how many panels we needed. They looked at my bill and they said they were going to do an estimate.
If you don't use too much electricity, Sunrun will probably work for you. I don't use too much electricity. As long as I’m getting the standard bill, that's okay. If it goes over, then it will be a matter of concern. I don't get a bill more than the standard bill every month and I'm paying about $100 altogether. I started with 65 and now, I'm paying 70. It's not a whole lot and it’s a trivial change. But slowly, they're increasing the price.

Sunrun is probably one of the best purchases I've ever made. It literally pays for itself. Everybody, from the salesperson to the installers, was very, very professional. I only have one complaint. I asked him a question and maybe he didn't understand it. I asked him, if it's daytime and the power goes out, will my house still run off the solar panels. And he said, yes, where it doesn't. It cuts off so it doesn't feed back into the main grid.
Other than that, I'm really happy. I have an 11-kilowatt system, so it's pretty big. And they only wanted to put in a 7-kilowatt. I said, no. I'd rather have too much than not enough. So I had them take a look at the last 12 months of my PG&E bills and we took the highest month, and we added 10%. So it came out to 11 kilowatts. So they put it in. They were fine with that.
My payment is only $395 a month. Over five years ago, I was paying $400 to $500 a month to PG&E. And now, all I have to do is pay for the gas. I even sell back. It is more efficient than brand new houses. In four years, when it's paid off, it's money in the bank because I'll be stocking money away every month.
I'm real happy with it. A lot of times, you make a major purchase that ends up not being as advertised. And I'm completely satisfied. And then all the time they'd call me back and they ask me if I wanna put some batteries in. And they're $30,000, so I'm like, "No." That way, there is power if all the power goes out, like I asked in the beginning. But it's only good for 24 hours, so it's not worth it. I have a backup generator. I bought a generator for 1,000 bucks. If power ever goes out, I'll just connect the generator up.

The installers have a satellite view of the house so they were able to estimate based upon the trees that we had and other factors. In Illinois, you can’t exceed 90% efficiency but they were able to tell us how to maximize.
So we did it and it looked really good in terms of the distribution. We have the panels both on the second floor of our home and we also have them on over our garage. It is buzzing. If it wasn’t for a couple of snowy days in February, we would have been completely solar for the majority of the winter as well. The amount of savings was great and when they related the impact to how many barrels of oil and how many power plants, it really hit home.
I got a lot of questions about it but they were not ready to commit. It was just a couple of years after we’d had our roof reshingled and repaired when we did the installation. They came and took pictures of our attic and all over. They made sure that would be something that could sustain a 20-year commitment. In our neighborhood, we have had a history of some power outages due to some of the infrastructure and it would be nice if we would be able to get the battery backup.

I’ve always been interested in solar energy. It was a long time ago, but Sunrun was the only company offering panels back then. I contacted them in 2019 to get the process started because they were available, and that’s what I signed up for. I chose the rental or lease plan and have been very pleased with it. It offsets my electric bill, and I haven’t had an electric bill in years because I generate a surplus, which feels good knowing I can contribute to the grid.
I haven’t had any problems. They send a monthly update, which I check occasionally to see how much electricity I’m generating. Last year, I got a hybrid hot water heater because I was generating enough electricity to support it without running hot water through my oil furnace. That was the last time I really analyzed my usage versus generation. Even after a year with the hybrid heater, I still haven’t had to pay for electricity.
I brag about it when people complain about their electric bills. I tell them they’re buying electricity for the same price I’m using, but I’m not using any. Whatever I generate into the grid, I don’t see it. Anyone who complains to me about their bills, I say, I don’t even get an electric bill.
When they evaluated our energy usage years ago, we had to jump through a few hoops. The electric company came out to make sure the house was as energy-efficient as possible. At the time, my husband was very ill and couldn’t tolerate being without air conditioning, so he was using a lot of electricity while watching TV during the day. That high usage determined how many panels they said we would need. I’m not sure if they base it on roof space or electricity usage, but after he passed away, I’ve always been in surplus since the evaluation was based on his higher usage, and he’s no longer generating that demand.
That’s probably one reason why I’m contributing to the grid, but I don’t know if they would have installed more or fewer panels if they had known I wouldn’t need that much. I believe everyone should have as many panels as their roof can support and contribute the surplus to the grid, that’s really valuable.

I got interested with solar because California was doing a lot of incentives and stuff. PG&E partnered with Sunrun and they were doing installations for free. Signing up was good and pretty much what I expected it to be. The person came out to my house and went over all the information.
They told us that they needed our last three months worth of energy bills, and then they took the average of those three energy bills. And then they said that they could only install up to 110% of my average usage. That meant 16 panels.
I monitor my energy production with the app, which is pretty good. If I wanted to see what I’, producing today, it does a pretty good job with that. And then I can change the duration that I want to see, like what I produced over the last week, and what I produced over the last month, the last year and so forth.
The only thing with is that after about a year of us having the panels, they changed the app. And they "improved" the charts so that you could see your production and usage. The improved charts for production usage were absolute crap. The charts that we used to have to view our production were way better than what they changed them to. The new ones are hard to understand, hard to use. Basically, useless.
The installation was quick and professional, though. They've always lived up to the terms in the agreement. I've always had good customer service. Having the panels was a really solid move for us.
With solar, it's nice to have a stable amount of money that goes out for electricity. Once we had the system installed, I was he same amount every month. Doesn't matter if it's hot or it's cold, it's the same every month. Which is nice because it's a stable amount no matter what.

Somebody from Sunrun came to my house. I listened to them and decided to go solar to save the environment and, in the process, save money. I’m very satisfied with my decision. The installation went well. I look at my bill and log on to their site to see my usage and how I’m producing. I like it because my system is producing energy and I don’t want to ever pay for electricity. I would recommend people to install solar and go with Sunrun.

I love it. I’ve had Sunrun for almost three years. The sales rep was excellent and installation was simple and easy. I'm getting batteries installed for emergencies, like at nighttime when I’m sleeping. I wear a CPAP for my sleep apnea, and we lost power in the middle of the night three times in January. I wish we could get some money back out of it, but it's leased right now. I bought 18 panels, then Edison charged me almost every year about 1,200, so I added nine panels and it’s made a big difference.

My brother-in-law got it first, and then he told me about Sunrun. I went to Costco, where Sunrun had them out there offering the service, and I called them up. There was not a problem or a hiccup in getting everything installed. Everything was good.
Since then, I’ve been getting extra money from Edison for a long time, but now I’m paying money. My last bill was $12, and the bill before that was about $20. I don’t know why, but they’ve been charging more for being in the service. These were the first two months that I paid for electricity since I got Sunrun. Overall, I’m very happy with Sunrun.

I had Surun for at least the last five years. I had six people in the house and it was full at the time because my niece was staying with me. What interested me was lowering my electric bill, which kept going up. We live in Hawaii and my normal electric bill at the time was somewhere between $200-$300. I didn't use the air conditioner and didn't have a dryer. Now I pay $35 a month. What I did was a 20-year lease. That was what they offered and it sounded good at the time. They told me once I'm done, I can buy the equipment. It'll be good for another couple of years before it starts to not be good.
Sunrun works great. They did a good job with setting the system up. Usually, my electric bill shows a negative, and I pay the $30 to connect to the county. I go back and forth between the Maui Electric Company and solar. During the day, I go solar, and it sends any excess electricity to Maui Electric. At night, I'm on Maui Electric because the solar isn't working. After all, there's no sunlight. Next time, I'll be investing in a battery to hook up to the house just in case we lose electricity. I also talked to them because I'm probably gonna put in a new roof, so we'll see how that goes. I gotta have them take the panels off and put them back on again.

I'm very pleased with Sunrun. It has met all my expectations regarding its performance, my energy use, and costs. When the original system was installed, there was quite a bit of a delay because they dropped the ball on the installation, and it was delayed for a lot longer than it should have been. But once they got it back on track, everything was good. Installation went well with the original house system and the backup Powerwall system that I did later.

Do not get Sunrun bottom line!!! We needed a new roof due to hail damage and they said they would not be able to get our panels off for 4 months but that we could use a different company to remove them. In order to stay under warranty when the panels are reinstalled they need to be "checked by a field service agent" to make sure they are reinstalled properly. Fast forward to the reinstall we had a field service technician come out and he was at our house for approximately 8 minutes and didn't even get on our house. He simply checked the panel to see if there were any issues- which could have been done by me. Now I have a $600 bill for this! This is so wrong to charge that kind of money for a check where no one even got on the roof to see of panels were reinstalled appropriately. I have been trying to fight the bill and they have been avoiding me. Do no use Sunrun, you will be sure to regret it.

We’re going back to 2012, when it was a different solar company. I can’t remember the name now, but they were the ones who originally installed our solar panels. Then Sunrun bought them out, and everything switched over to Sunrun. We’ve always been satisfied with it.
With the previous company, a representative came out and explained everything to us, and he was very nice, especially since I had just had eye surgery. He said he would come back in about a month, and he did.
Then he decided to wait a little longer and came back again the following month. At that point, we decided to go ahead with it. They did a good job with the installation. It was completed in about half a day.
I like that my electricity comes from my own roof. Overall, it seems fine, because electricity is expensive no matter where you go, and gas is even worse. A lot of neighbors around here have solar panels too. The neighbor down the street had his before we even put our original ones on. He would be with Sunrun now as well, and he still has it, so he must be satisfied too.

We bought our house five years ago and didn’t know it already had solar on it by Sunrun. Finding out we had solar was a blessing because it made me realize that our electrical bill was only $23. The biggest complaint I had is that Sunrun is responsible for the upkeep, and they’ve had to come out and change a couple of boxes since we’ve had it. But no big deal because everything breaks.
Last month, we generated almost 900 kilowatt hours with our panels, though we only use a fraction because we’re energy conscious. We get a printout from Sunrun telling us the days and hours and everything of what we make energy-wise with our solar.
I’m totally satisfied with the solar and should have done it years ago. They've been really good people, treated us right, and been very generous and nice. They call us every now and then again, checking out if there's any problem, anything going on that they need to know about. We’ve had them for five years now, and I sure appreciate them.

We have had Sunrun solar for about 10 years and had no issues until we needed our roof replaced. Took forever (6-8 weeks probably) to get them to come remove the panels. That was the easy part. The roof was replaced the first of September and it is now April with no sign of them coming to put the panels back up. They take random amounts of money for our "bill" each month. We have a lease situation, where we pay them for the solar power we generate. The panels are not generating any solar power stacked on my driveway. Can we mention how inconvenient that is? I have had at least 4 case managers only one of which ever responded. He very kindly contacted me every couple of weeks to say that nothing was happening. Not one of the others has returned calls or emails. At some point they have to be in breach of contract and can just come get their panels! Terrible customer service!!

One of the issues I have is that by the time I was discussing with the marketer, he was telling me what they were going to give me is going to service me, that it was just for the military loan that I would be paying, and I won’t get anything more than that. I noticed after a few months, I begin to get a bill from ComEdison that was higher than what we agree on. And I tried to complain, but I didn’t see solutions to it. So, I was meant to continue, staying on the two side like that.
After some time again, someone called me from Sunrun, that they wanted to know if I was facing some things. So, I told them and they told me, “Okay.” They were going to come around to boost it up. However, since then, I’ve not heard anything from anyone. So, I have no choice and I’ll be paying for the two sides. But that was not the initial agreement.
So, when I complained to connect this thing, what they told me was what my solar was not giving me enough for what I wanted to use. So, they needed to close the gap, that was why I was getting that bill. And when we were having that, they told me what the solar was going to supply me was going to complete what I needed. They also told me that it was working 100% good, so it did not have any issues. But there was nothing they can do about it until so and so time, and I’m tired of calling. So, I just let it be.
The unfortunate thing is I’ve recommended them to a lot of friends, and they have it already. I recommended them when everything was as we planned, because I use it for six months before something changed. I loved the service then, and everything was good. Even now, I can still recommend it to friends, but I would let them know that based on the agreement things can change along the line, because that was my experience.

He sat down with us, we had an agreement, then they came and did the install, which took at least a month. I've also gone to their website and it’s really good. We're snowbirds. In the summertime, we're not here, but we still have to leave the AC on because, otherwise, it gets too hot for the house and furniture. The AC is on high that we used to get bills of anywhere from $250 to $350 a month. We received 10 panels from Sunrun and we noticed an incredible difference. Now, our electric bills are about $90 or $130. We had one bill that was $30 compared to $200. In the first year, we were not sure if we did the right thing, then all of a sudden, it got better.
