    My experience with Sunrun started off with some difficulties. Initially, there was a malfunction with the switchboard, causing issues for about six months. They came and changed parts on it, then it stopped working again. The parts were burnt and they took a while to come back because they had to order the parts. Everything was eventually fixed. Since those initial problems were addressed a few months ago, everything has been working well. The switch to Sunrun was smooth, and the installation process was perfect. Post-installation, I have no complaints. Additionally, having Sunrun solar panels has positively impacted my life by helping me save money. Overall, I’m satisfied with my experience and would recommend it.

    Our experience with Sunrun began when a door-to-door salesperson named Alexis introduced us to their solar energy services. Alexis was very nice and approachable, which is why we decided to hear her out. My husband has always been interested in solar energy but wasn't sure how it worked, so Alexis's visit was timely. Our sign-up experience with Sunrun was wonderful, largely thanks to Alexis's personable and patient approach. She wasn't pushy like many salespeople, making the process comfortable even when I was feeling unwell initially.

    The installation process, however, took some time—about six months. But Alexis did inform us that it would be a lengthy process due to the paperwork and coordination with the energy company. Once installed, the solar panels have been beneficial. Our energy bill only covers gas now, ranging from $20 to $30 a month, down from the previous $200 range. But we still have the loan payment for the panels with Sunrun. The loan is for $43,000 which is a lot of money and I would be curious to see our energy bill in comparison to what it would be if we didn't have the solar panels versus the cost of our loan payment back.

    My experience with Sunrun has been mixed. Initially, the representative came out quickly and provided a quote. I didn't seek other quotes since I wanted a straightforward process and believed I was getting the complete truth. However, during installation, I was out of the country, and they had to tear off half of the roof to replace the felt. I expected them to offer to redo the whole roof while on-site, but they didn't, which was frustrating.

    I've had the system for about two years now. I was told I would receive refunds from the electric company after the hookup, but in all this time, I've only received $40. On the positive side, I don't receive a monthly electricity bill, as I have a credit of about $100. Still, the process to understand this credit has been confusing, and when I reached out to the electric company, they referred me back to Sunrun, leading to more confusion.

    I feel that companies sometimes take advantage of older folks who aren't savvy with the technical details. Also, I keep getting things that I should hook up batteries. But at this point in my life, the only batteries I want to see are those in my flashlight. Aside from that, in the beginning, I was told that if I recommended Sunrun, I would get $50 immediately and then a $1,000 bonus. But now, it's down to a $50 bonus, which is like changing the boat in the middle of the river.

    Overall, I'd rate my experience with Sunrun around a 3 out of 5. While they provided the service expected, the post-installation support and clarity could be significantly improved.

    I wanted the solar power system to automatically switch over when the power went out, so I could at least have some lights to navigate my house safely, especially since I am now handicapped. However, instead, they installed two plugs outside, and I was told I would need to use extension cords to power essential appliances like the refrigerator, which is challenging for me given my mobility issues. I have a CPAP as well so when the power goes off, I have to run an extension cord through the bedroom window out to the window to run my CPAP.

    A technician came by recently and assessed everything. He mentioned that I might need another battery for a more seamless backup, which I’m considering looking into.

    The installation itself went perfectly, and I have noticed a reduction in my monthly electric bill, which is a positive. But I’m not completely satisfied due to the inconvenience of using extension cords during power outages.

    I'm hoping for a solution where the battery can automatically power essential areas like the hallway and maybe a light in the front room when the power goes out, without needing to run cords. My goal is to have a system I can rely on to get around my home safely during outages.

    Everyone has been trying to help, but it hasn't met my initial expectations. It’s not functioning the way I thought it would when I first signed up with Sunrun.

    Overall, my experience switching to Sunrun was pretty good and the process was fairly easy. Since the installation, my solar experience has been uneventful, in a good way—my bill has been pretty good, so I've had a positive experience so far.

    I have to mention the salesperson who came to speak with me. Although I can't remember his name, he was very knowledgeable and friendly. He didn't promise anything they couldn't deliver, which made for a good experience. I was glad I had the chance to deal with him.

    I haven't had any dealings with customer service because I manage everything online, so I can't really comment on that part. As for the solar panels, this is my first time having them, so I don't have anything to compare them to, but I haven't had any complaints. Regarding costs, I didn't have to pay out of pocket for the solar panels, which was great.

    My experience with Sunrun has been extremely disappointing. Initially, I thought installing solar panels would save me money, but it has cost me significantly more. However, my frustration lies with the inflated costs and feeling defrauded. When I contacted Sunrun to address these issues, I was told I'm locked in for 25 years with no recourse.     I chose Sunrun based on a recommendation from a neighbor and initially had no issues with the company. However, I experienced a major inconvenience when my solar inverter went down on September 7th, and I couldn’t produce any solar energy until October 4th. It took a long time to receive a notification about the issue—from September 8th to September 24th. When I finally received a text about the system not producing any energy, I had to reach out to them for an appointment.

    The technician, Kevin, initially tried to resolve the issue by sending a 'ping' to the system, likened to resetting a cable connection, but it didn’t work. I had further frustration when I was initially told that the inverter had been replaced, which wasn't possible as their office was closed on Sundays and I hadn't been informed of anyone coming to replace it.

    Eventually, they replaced the inverter on October 4th, but my electric bill during this downtime was $176. This was a significant increase from my usual $35 bill with the solar functioning properly. Despite full months of credit previously being given for only four days of outage, this time, they offered just $40, which I found insufficient given the circumstances.

    The Sunrun system is working fine. Through the summer, I have not had to pay for any electricity. I've been sharing power as well. There's a special program that they have during peak times when more people are home and running air conditioners. I get informed when they're going to be doing this so I try to be very conservative in the amount of power I use during that time when I know that they're going to be using some of my power to share with the community. I also have the Sunrun app and can see what it says.

    The transition to solar energy was smooth. A noteworthy incident was a bad storm in the winter that cleared some trees, allowing more sunlight onto my panels. This was beneficial since even by 9 a.m., the sun reaches the panels on the west side of my house. However, I discovered my kitchen refrigerator isn’t on the battery backup system. Thankfully, I have an old refrigerator in my basement for emergencies. But other than that, my backup system works well.

    Solar was installed last week and unapproved irregular shaped holes covered with materials that are different than the original roof color. Why there are random holes/patches on the roof? There are at least 3 of them. Contacted the assigned case manager, pending response. Please stay away if you want to keep your roof undamaged. Now my flat roof has multiple random ugly patches sitting right next to my roof top deck. What a major mistake. If someone would tell me upfront, hey we will leave ugly random patchwork on your roof next to your roof top deck, and we cannot even use extra material to cover the hole, we will make sure the material we use to cover, barely covers the hole itself. I will say No, please don't come, but no one informs me that is going to happen. The project consultant said we installed on your type of roof everyday, I wonder if everyone get these ugly patches or holes on the roof since.

    I was searching for solar services and Sunrun was the second company to get back to me. The first company's representatives were not impressive, but Sunrun's team did a great job of explaining their product. They offered us the choice to either buy or rent the system, and we decided to rent it.

    The team from Sunrun was fantastic. The sales rep and the crew who worked on the installation were professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. They completed everything quickly and tidily. Initially, there was an issue with the panel, but after communicating with their team, they replaced it at no cost to me.

    I've been a Sunrun customer for a while, and I initially chose them because I had used their services before. Overall, I'm happy with the experience of switching to solar panels with Sunrun. I noticed that my electricity bill is a little cheaper now compared to before—sometimes it's noticeable, thanks to a combination of billing from both Sunrun and Hawaii Electric.

    The installation team did a great job with the panels and they did it really fast. I don't have any major criticisms or suggestions for improvement. In fact, I'm planning to use Sunrun again for another property.

    I did have a bit of an issue with the battery. We weren't getting any usage out of it, and we ended up paying the full amount to Hawaii Electric as well as Sunrun. Although I was told we would be compensated, that didn't happen.

    Regarding star ratings, I'd say leasing the program was fine for the price, and the customer service was also satisfactory. However, due to the battery issue, I'd prefer not to rate the solar panels themselves. Despite this issue, I'd rate everything else as excellent.

    I initially heard about Sunrun online and became interested in solar energy primarily to save money and help the environment. The salesperson also played a big role in piquing my interest. Everything with Sunrun has gone well so far. We've had the system for over a year, and it’s functioning fine.

    During the summer, we don't produce enough energy because we didn’t install as many panels as we probably should have, only on the second floor. This lack of coverage, especially with using central air, means we sometimes have to pay a bit extra.     I had Sunrun solar panels installed after seeing them at Costco. The initial impression was that they might be returnable; however, that was a misunderstanding on my part regarding their policy. My main issue has been with the engineering and project management aspect. They could improve in optimizing panel efficiency to maximize electricity output. Ideally, the power generated should match my electricity needs, but it falls short unless it's the off-peak winter months when I don't use air conditioning.

    Sunrun indicated they couldn't fit more panels on my roof, which I was only informed of during the project, not before. This seems to be a common experience shared by others. While the sales guys were pleasant enough, I'm really interested in highly technical people who can deliver what they say they can, which is the way I would expect the job to be done. And that was not what they were doing.

    Customer service is lacking, deserving a one-star rating. The solar equipment itself is decent but not as efficient as it could be, earning three stars. The sales and marketing process rates a two, while the overall price also scores a disappointing one. Ultimately, Sunrun gets about three stars from me. While the equipment is reliable, the process overall didn't meet my expectations in terms of delivery and efficiency.

    Sunrun explained everything to me like how it would work if I qualified through the government program. They told me what they would install. They got on the roof and put everything. A couple of months ago, Sunrun called me and asked if PSEG did my bill. I told them that I wasn't sure if it was because of my gas bill or if it was the electric because I didn't pay no mind.

    I got on a payment plan with PSEG, but somehow, Sunrun wasn't working properly to where they ended up reimbursing PSEG. I paid the money to PSEG. They said I owed them 650 and I said, "How is that possible? I can't come up with 650 like that." They said, "You get on a payment plan." So, Sunrun told me that if it was anything on their end, they would adjust it. They would make it right. They did because it was credited onto PSEG somehow. For three months, I haven't paid PSEG because there was a credit on there. I figured that was from Sunrun. Other than that, I recommended Sunrun to my ex-brother-in-law.

    In my first year with Sunrun, I found the service unsatisfactory because the energy output wasn't meeting the contract's guaranteed amount. Despite them adjusting payments, I ended up with a $400 bill. I continued paying SoCal Edison even though my bill was 14 cents so that I didn't have to pay that whole thing at the end of the year. Sunrun often cited a tree shading the panels as the issue, but I argued that this was overlooked during the initial setup and I couldn't do anything about that tree because that it belongs to my neighbor. Then in last fall or so, the branches began to break if we had a windstorm, so they decided it was too heavy and they trimmed the tree back. So this year, I'm doing fine but that tree is still just as big. And by next year, it'll be full again and we may be fighting this whole thing over.

    When I told Sunrun about my concerns, their customer service was inconsistent, with long wait times for action, which was frustrating. The other thing is, they're not responsive to my requests. I'd call in and talk to someone, and they'd say they'd look into my issue but I'd never hear back. Finally, somebody would show up at my door whenever they decide to do this and say they wanted to check the panels and make sure everything was working. At one point, I requested panel cleaning and although it was scheduled, the engineer arrived for a different purpose and only offered to hose them down.

    Their sales pitch initially was thorough and promising. The representative explained their program well, and I felt informed at the purchase. Additionally, the roofing service contracted by Sunrun was excellent. But the contract that I signed was online and I really couldn't sit and read well enough to totally understand it. They sat with me and explained this and that then showed me where to sign, but I really didn't get a chance to read the contract. And my eyesight isn't good enough to track on a computer screen just by myself. I have to sit there with a ruler going down the screen to try to read it and I'm 80 years old. I'm cautious about recommending Sunrun to others due to reliability issues. If improvements are made or additional panels are added to counteract the tree next year, my satisfaction might improve.

However, my electricity still costs me more. I'm waiting for them to come and take the solar down so I can put a roof on. When I look at my cost from last three years to this year, it's still more expensive with Sunrun with the payment. Last month, I thought it showed that I didn't get any credit from the electrical company, yet my app shows that I was producing. I forwarded my bill to Sunrun, and somebody was supposed to call me back. That was last week and I haven't heard from anyone.

    I had Sunrun for 14 years. Two and a half years ago my panels went out and I've been telling sunrun to fix them, they keep making excuses that they can't get and panels and that they're out of stock but two blocks away they're putting panels on another house, I just want to say to all the people that when it comes to sunrun replacing or fixing your panels you're out of luck, I've been leasing the panels. Just remember that if you want to sell your house and move you must pay the leasing agreement in full before you can sell your house, and another thing sunrun don't care about the customers. They just care about the money they have in their pocket. I have excellent credit and no problem paying my bills, be cautious.

    I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I have received from Sunrun, which has been incredibly disappointing. My consultation began in June 2024 with Sales Representative Liaoruo, who provided information about the solar panel systems, installation process, and associated costs. Unfortunately, her presentation lacked professionalism, as she failed to explain how the system would connect to the SCE power grid, assuring me that everything would be fine once the panels were installed. Under pressure to sign the contract to avoid a price increase, I proceeded with the agreement.

    After signing the contract, I received notification from Liaoruo that my city-issued license was ready, and we could proceed with the installation. Project Manager Shane then contacted me to arrange a roof inspection prior to installation, indicating that his team would arrive in two weeks to check for asbestos. Shane and Liaoruo had assured me that their technical roof team would inspect my roof for asbestos and remove it as necessary before installing the solar panels, with no fees or hidden costs involved. However, after three weeks without any follow-up, I reached out to Shane, only to be informed that another contract was necessary before his team could conduct the asbestos inspection.

    Upon discussing this with Liaoruo, she assured me that this was standard procedure and that the contracts were the same. I signed the additional contract, only to receive a message from Shane the following week stating that I had waived my right to an asbestos inspection and repair. I contested this claim, emphasizing that I did not agree to waive these services. Unfortunately, both Shane and Liaoruo insisted that my failure to read the document thoroughly was my responsibility, with Liaoruo even suggesting I could pursue legal action without success.

    In August, Liaoruo reached out to me for further guidance and introduced me to a contractor named Chen, a friend of hers, to conduct the asbestos inspection. Liaoruo mentioned that she might be able to assist with part of the costs. Chen visited my home to inspect the attic, roof, and side walls. He informed me that the estimated cost for asbestos remediation would be around $20,000. I find this estimate concerning, as my house was built after 1985, when the use of asbestos was restricted following regulations established in the 1970s.

    In September 2024, Customer Service Manager Samantha contacted me, expressing a willingness to help resolve this matter. However, after two weeks without communication from her, I reached out again, only to be told that I would need to handle the situation myself, though she would attempt to coordinate with the project manager.

    As of today, I have not received any updates regarding the resolution of this issue. This experience raises serious concerns about the integrity of Sunrun's practices and customer service. I have encountered numerous similar complaints, which further compounds my frustration. I would like to address the top management at Sunrun regarding the conduct of your staff, specifically Shane, Liaoruo, and Samantha. Are you comfortable with their actions, which seem to constitute fraud and deception towards customers? Do you believe that you can continually evade legal consequences for such behavior?

    They forgot to install a piece of equipment on the roof for the panels which caused my room to get flooded with water. Now they refuse to fix my floors because it was only damaged in one area of the floor (over 4 laminate planks were damaged). Mind you they haven’t checked the roof plywood for any damage (I installed the roof in 2022 completely brand new btw). Don’t use SunRun. They don’t care about your property!

    My wife and I have thought about solar for years now. But it makes no sense to lease and still pay an electric bill, and to purchase one outright is ridiculously expensive (and my state won't let you leave the electric line behind anyway). So, in Massachusetts. Sun Run and National Grid have paired up to help meet the states green expectations throughout the state. Sun Run pays all costs for the equipment and to install all while working directly with the town/city you live in. And the new program is just wonderful. As you pay a much lower rate directly to Sun Run and no longer to the electric company. Seeing as electric (at least in my state of Massachusetts, doubles every 3-4 years) this was a no brainer.

    The installers arrived today exactly when they said they would. They were fairly quick and efficient, and explained any questions we had along the way. Now the panels are up (and look great), and we now need our town inspector to come review the work. Then after that the electric company needs to come out and replace the metering unit to one that can account for the solar energy. So yes, it is a bit of a process having to wait a little between each step but so worth it!!!! I see a lot of the negative reviews, and yes I believe some are very legitimate. Yet common sense tells me many others are just a means for people who like to complain to be able to do so (disappointed in people). I and my family swear by Solar, and we will now be telling all our friends, family, and neighbors about Sun Run and their new collaboration with National Grid. And we will very highly be recommending to anyone willing to listen.

    Sept 26, 2024. If I could give 0 stars I would. I have had my solar system since 2014 and although my system was contracted through Grid Alternatives, Sunrun was the provider. I had to have my house re-roofed in May, for which Sunrun charged $5,790.00 to temporarily uninstall and reinstall the panels. Fast forward to August 2024. I now have a $927.00 electric bill. I called Sunrun, they remotely checked the system and said it was fine, I insisted they send someone out. They sent Grid Alternatives out.

    Long story short, Sunrun reconnected only half of the system. Sunrun had assured me I was eligible for compensation. They wanted to compensate $120.00, not acceptable, they came back with a final offer a week later of $210.00. I also opened a case to attempt to recoup at least a portion of the fee they charged for their shoddy workmanship to which there has been no response. I have never seen a company So unwilling to take responsibility for their poor work and errors. Instead, they want their customers to just suck it up and take it.

    Somebody with Sunrun called me and she was going to call me back to give me some answers to some questions I had at that time, but I'm still waiting for it. I even called that lady back but she never answered the phone. Also, it's going to be two years already but I haven't received a report of how much I'm saving or producing or SDG&E is buying back and I still don't know if I owe something to SDG&E or if they owe me something. I know that I have to be paying something every month to SDG&E to be connected but now, I'm paying as much as I was paying to SDG&E. It also doesn't make any difference when there is a cut of power. When the power in the neighborhood goes out, I'm in the darkness too because I don't have batteries. But I'm happy that I'm contributing to helping with the ecology. Sunrun is good.

    Sunrun came to the house and the reps said they had a promotion and we could be qualified. They would let us know once they get the bill so I gave it to them. We qualified and the rep came out and went over things. It sounded like it was a good deal but I’m regretting it now. Since the installation, my electric bill has been higher. It was 600 something dollars for one month and I called Sunrun. They said my system was down and I didn't know it was. If I didn't get that bill, I wouldn't have known all these was going on. My electric bill went through the roof in the last two months. I never had a high bill like that. Sunrun said a technician would call to let me know when they would come out and fix the problem. A month went by and there was no call.

    I called Sunrun again and I was getting the runaround. Finally, I was told that the technician was coming out. But I didn’t know the time because the technician was supposed to contact me and tell me a window. I didn't get a window. I was told by a neighbor that something was going on at my house and when I got home, I saw the technician out there. I came up to him and asked if he was from Sunrun. He said he was and that he was gonna try to replace the part before he left because he had to go somewhere. But he never explained that he was gonna finish at that time. After I walked away, I didn't know if it was completed or not.

    Two weeks later, I was wondering if it was completed so I called. I got the runaround again. One person said it wasn't completed and then another department said it was, but they didn't close it out. They said they were gonna close it out and give me some credit. They came up with calculations and gave me a credit for Sunrun but I asked about my electricity because it was high and the solar system was down. I still have this high electric bill and they didn't do anything about it. So, I'm kinda mad about that. This doesn't make any sense. I’m very dissatisfied with how everything came to play. People should not get the system from Sunrun. They need to treat their customers better because that's not how you run a business.

    Sept 2023 had solar installed by SunRun and they said it will take a few months before we would see a reduction in our APS bill, that never happened and after numerous contacts and talking to their technicians they said that our system was at 96% which is well within the specs they said it would be (this all done remotely by the way) and again contacted them and they said it is producing as designed, and we still did not see the reduction in our bill that we were told it would be. After 1 year we are paying more out of pocket when you figure the lease payment as well. Then just recently we find out SunRun is moving out of AZ and the rep comes by and looks at our system which was installed by Titan. It was installed on the wrong side of the house and now they want me to pay more to have panels installed on the other roof side. We have been take advantage of and have no recourse but to pay more to get less.

    We called Sunrun to get a quote. I looked at a couple local people, and Sunrun seemed the most experienced and legit. Sunrun told everything ahead of time. When we had a little problem with some shingles around the area where the panels were installed. They were loosened during the installation. Sunrun sent a rep who put a couple of nails in and fixed them. He came and took care of it with no questions. I was happy with that.

    Sunrun underpromised when we spoke about the results that I would get. They talked about me getting about 80% of my bill based on the amount of solar panels they were able to install. Throughout the winter, I got zero on my electric bill. Summer, it has been about the 80%. I thought it would be the reverse, that I would have bigger problems during the winter. But I got bigger bills during the winter with shorter days, less sun. But I'm sure it was just that we use air conditioners during the summer, and it has been performing very well.

    Sunrun had the best deal and the installation was great. They did everything they were supposed to do and everything got installed right.     In the last couple years, I've seen a big reduction on the electricity bill. Sunrun supported me at the beginning and I'm very happy with them. However, we're beginning to have trouble with Sunrun. These cheat people, APS for electric, got a 12% increase two years ago. Then last year, they got a 24% increase. Now they're gonna penalize all the people that have solar panels. It charges $2.38 per kilowatt for having solar panels which is unfair. Sometimes I feel I shouldn't have went solar and I don't know if Sunrun is gonna do anything to help support their customers. Who I talked to said, "I'm gonna look into it and get right back to you," but I've never ever heard from them since and this was eight months ago.

    I was talking to some neighbors that got solar panels and there were numerous different brands available at the time and I did a little research and I thought Sunrun sounded reputable. I liked the service contract at the time. They pulled up satellite image of the home and showed a mock-up of what the system might look like and how big it could be and an estimate of how much power that might produce. Then we talked about what goes on with the installation and went up in the attic and looked to make sure the structure of the roof was sufficient. They shone a flashlight around, took a measurement of how far apart the struts were, and looked for any obvious wood rot. It took maybe a week or so to draw up the contract.

    The installation was great. First, we determined that the shingles needed to be replaced. So, a crew came out and scraped off the old shingles and put new ones. There were a few pieces of wood that needed to be replaced, too. So it's a good thing they did that. And then, a different crew came out with some aluminum structure and they mounted that aluminum structure. And then, a few days later the panels themselves showed up with the electrician to wire them in. The whole process was great. I have recommended Sunrun to several friends.

    We had a warranty repair because our solar panels broke. Apparently, the newer solar panels are higher capacity and more efficient than the inverter ones, and I wish we'd had the opportunity to upgrade our inverter as opposed to just taking the panels off. I didn't know about that until the contractor came up. We were not producing for a year and a half, but that was also during COVID so there were a lot of stuff that were not happening on time. But we got the bill credit. The contract with Sunrun was if we weren't producing, we'd get a credit. We also didn't pay for that year. Aside from those glitches because of the broken panels, we've been getting what we asked for. We're 15 years into having the solar panels, and we're saving a bit of money. We are getting a roof the next year so that would be the other test to see how quickly we can get that coordinated.

    I am VERY DISSATISFIED with customer service at Sunrun. Everything went great with the sales rep and installation, the equipment was installed within a few weeks after I signed up. They did a great job. The next step was city inspections, well we didn’t pass because of several reasons, now the problems start. Sunrun has stopped communicating with us. We can’t get any resolution to the problems, our project manager Marcel will not return our text and when he does all he says is, "I need to send out an engineer to look at things." He has been saying this for 7 months now. I have over 100 text with very few replies.

    To this day the equipment is just sitting there being unused. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYBODY EVER USE SUNRUN. Once they get you to sign that contract and install the equipment (which you have to pay for once installation begins, READ YOUR CONTRACT. It’s in there) they don’t care about you anymore. A VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER!!!

    I've been a customer of Sunrun for two years. I bought the house in 2022 and the panels were already on. They were already existing customers. I just took over what was already there. However, I am a little confused about a situation. I received call after call and I was instructed by the company to call if I received something, and then I got the person on the phone who said, "You're just using more electricity." Then why are they calling me 50 times asking me to make sure my bill is okay? I found that quite annoying. My perception of solar is that it saves you money. But I don't think it's saving me money. I receive a solar bill, so I don't receive an electric bill. It's the same as having electric. I know it's better for the environment though, except for this month when I'm receiving two large bills, which is quite annoying.

    One time, they had to come because of my roof. One of the brackets came through my roof and caused a leak. They fixed the roof, and they had to cut me a check for a contractor because they couldn't get someone to come and paint my ceiling. They got an estimate of how much it would be and they sent me the check so I could have it done myself.

    Sunrun is really great. Nick, their salesman, came to my house and I talked to him and he was really good at his job. The customer service was great. He sat down in my kitchen and took a look at my basement. I showed him all the work I was doing in my house. Most of the places that come for solar, the people who speak to me don't speak English or are from another country. On the other hand, Nick was a really nice guy, and he's an American. He came in and talked English to me, and he really sold the product. He was very honest with me, and he explained to me everything.

    Nick told me, "The cost of living is gonna go up, your payment's gonna go up, but only this percent. Now, JCP&L can raise you this." He said, "We will raise you 2% every so often. JCP&L will raise you 3% to 5%." Sunrun put a new roof on my house as well. My roof went through a tornado and it was really bad. I told Nick, "I can't afford a new roof right now. I don't know what I'm gonna do." He said, "You go with Sunrun and we'll put a new roof on your house." I couldn't say no to him. It was impossible. It's been roughly about a year and a half since the system was installed, and I don't have an electric bill anymore. I pay Sunrun the same bill every month and I don't have any problem. Plus, Nick is the head salesman. I have his personal number, and he said I could call him any time.

    I have had a Sunrun system for 10 years now and have paid about $.02 kwh more for my solar power than what my utility has charged over the same period of time. No savings at all. Also my system was down for 8 months and got $49 total compensation. Not very much for the extra I had to pay for electricity and my lease payment. Buy a system and get all the pennies your self.

    Horrible Customer Service and consideration to customers after contract is signed. We are on year 14 of a 20 year prepaid contract. All 20 years of Electricity are paid already. We called to have the cells removed and put back on since we are getting a leak in the roof from one of the solar bolts and a flashing. The roof is 20 years old so repair was not a good idea as opposed to replace all of it. Sunrun wants 12k to remove and put back the cells but the cells will generate under 9k in power over the next 6 years. It makes no sense and the cells are roughly 70% towards end of life. We offered to let them keep the remaining 6 years of prepaid electric and cancel the contract so the cells are removed at no cost per contract expiration but they never return a response on the open request.

    We offered to let them keep the 6 years of prepaid electric and they can leave the cells on the roof so I can assume full ownership and manage them myself, again I cannot get a case manager to update on that request. I have spoke with management, now emailed the CEO, emailed customer service, called every line I can think of but no Customer service gets back to you except that crazy 12k to remove and put back up which they state takes 3 days to complete.... That is 4k per day with 2 guys. Absolute price gouging since we are stuck in contract.

    Updated on 08/30/2024: Sunrun did respond and asked me for my street address. Due to the hostility of this individual employee, my family and I do not feel safe disclosing. We have instead made reports to local police, the Better Business Bureau, and the Massachusetts Attorney General. Going forward we will have security cameras in place, no soliciting signs, and I am keeping the police nonemergency line available on my phone in case we see this sales rep again. If you see a SunRun sales rep in your neighborhood and they are harassing people, excuse yourself to go inside, lock the door, and call the cops.

    Original Review: I had a salesman at my door with a SunRun badge and uniform. He made it sound as though there would be work happening at my neighbor's house and they needed to inform me of something pertaining to my utilities, which was a lie. He was very aggressive and created a false sense of urgency, saying that I was in an energy crisis, paying twice as much for power, that the transformer in front of my house would blow out unless I get solar panels (all false). I politely tried to end the conversation but he became more aggressive. I asked him to leave and he refused. I told him to leave and he started to raise his voice with me so I told him to get off of my property. He refused (meaning that he was trespassing at that point) and became confrontational with me so I asked to see his badge, which he then hid from me. He started asking me for MY name, at MY house, when he had previously said that my name was on a list of people that he needed to speak with.

    In looking at the Better Business Bureau I saw many complaints about vulnerable people being forced to sign contracts under a state of duress, which is what this salesman was trying to do. I'm glad that my parents and family were not around to deal with this guy. He did not respect boundaries and the whole situation felt unsafe. I asked around and my neighbors have had similar experiences with SunRun. It seems to be their business model. I will forever trash the reputation of this company and there is absolutely no way I will ever do business with them after the way I was treated by their sales associate. If you are thinking about signing anything with this company, read the complaints about them on the Better Business Bureau first. That will tell you everything. If they come to your house, don't answer the door, take photos, and report it to the police because all they brought to my home was distress and a legit safety concern.

    The salesman from Sunrun was polite. He had in mind to sell me a bigger system than I needed. I said, "No, I want a smaller system than that." And there wasn't an argument about it. They redesigned the system to be smaller. It was a very good experience. It's kinda hard to see the benefit of it month-to-month. I think that once you install solar, the energy company drops some of your discounts. We pay less, though. If I count the loan that I pay plus adding on the lower bill that we pay, it's probably $100 a month less now. If I had gotten a battery system, it'd probably be even less, but I didn't. That was probably my one mistake. Sunrun is not the cheapest, but what they sold was good stuff that we put up there. So, it'll last.

    My experience with Sunrun has been okay. Their part of the process went fairly quickly, but waiting for the electric company to get everything took a while. I had a very wonderful rep from Sunrun, but he has left the company. So if I have problems now, I feel a little lost sometimes. I have had a couple of issues with my battery. For some reason, it didn't work. But when I called Sunrun, they'd come out and checked it, so it's been fine. We resolved it.

I live in a condominium complex and there are certain regulations that have to be met before solar can be installed on the dwelling that I'm presently in. The rep they sent out was very polite and explained everything to me. They had to get ahold of certain board members within the community and they took care of all the permits.     Everything's fine with Sunrun. I had moved into my house not even a full year before they came around and my electric bill was astronomical. Since having the panels, it's saving me a lot of money. We had a good three months of difficulties with it but there was always somebody who came out to fix whatever the problem was. It took a few months to get the bugs out but it's been working for quite a few years. Also, we had to have our roof redone and I had to deal with Sunrun to get the panels removed so we could get a new roof put on and the panels reinstalled. It went smoother than I anticipated.

    I spoke to a guy by the name of Todd and we went over my electric bills and what I would like to do. I'd love to technically be able to get enough power to power everything in the house and really not have anything to pay and he explained to me how the system works. At the time, I qualified for the Governor Pritzker's solar panel initiative, which was something that was working through solar companies. We went through everything and applied and then he told me I was not gonna be making money, but I was not gonna be spending money either. The only thing I have is the delivery cost so for the first couple of months, I was paying $14.68 and then it went up to $16.80.

    Since having Sunrun, it's been great. When I get the bill, I can prepay it for a number of months in advance versus paying one month at a time. Prepaying it is cheaper than what I would be paying and the average is around 180. It's been great. Also, I was told there's one of two ways if I was to move -- I could sell the system with my house or not sell it with my house. And why not keep it there? That’d be a greater selling point. The next owners will have to deal with the bills. I'm quite happy with it.

    The sales rep of SunRun reviewed what Sunrun was about and how it would save us money. My husband had been looking into doing solar trying to go that way and being what it ended up costing us, it was a no-brainer to go with it. The installation was great. The installers were here, put it on, and done. It wasn't even a full day. My bill is cheaper now 'cause the rates in our area have gone up. Others should definitely go with Sunrun. One time I had an issue and I called Sunrun and they were super helpful. Any time you have any issues, they are very good about getting back to you. They don't abandon you.

    Absolutely the worst. DO NOT get Sunrun. Do not believe when they say it's free when being locked in for 10 years and it's yours. It is impossible to get in touch with someone when you need assistance for a high bill. They don't tell you that if your panels need to be removed for ANY (even minor) roof repair that it's your your bill. We were quoted $2,430.00 for removal/re-install for roof repair but ended up getting charged over $6,000.00, and if you don't pay it they will put a lien on your house. Sunrun gave us the runaround and no one was available to get back to us. DO NOT CHOOSE SUNRUN!!!!

    They sold me a 2G/3G communications module that was already obsolete when sold. It has stopped communicating (the 3G network is shutdown). They are charging me $300 to replace it with an LTE module. It was obsolete when they sold it! It's not under any warranty because they sold the system instead of leasing it.

    Updated on 08/17/2024: So, update.. The company's higher up I'll call them. Contacted me. I've spoken to two individuals, one named Jair that seemed to have been the person who I believed would be the one to resolve the matter with my mom's issue. Apparently the sales person swindled his way in to sneaking in a system that did not include a back up battery called a shifter, which stores energy and sends it back to Edison and is how your bill can be reduced and allegedly save. Seems to be some kinda cahoots scam I'm seeing with Edison and electrical companies because who in their right state of mind would anyone one not want to purchase one of the two equipment deals that does not provide electricity in the event of called a back up battery. I mean, you're already agreeing to the financed purchase payment disbursed in the form of 25 years payments.

    How much money can a person really want to save by choosing to purchase the lesser priced equipment package versus the one without the battery back up, which Sunrun after speaking to this guy Joe today explained my mom specifically purchased, "The shifter and not the back up battery offered purchase," giving me the understanding that from what Joe explained, his idea of remediating this problem which could have been in the midst of being resolved by a simple switching out of the current with the correct back up battery platform that should have and purchase and customer my mom and other potentials, would be a happy next 25 year customer(s), however they still insist that they did nothing wrong and my mom, a ** only speaking family household, like the majority and probably most of their 2.3 billion in sales revenue are, they have came up with labeling this issue in resolving to their benefit as an upgrade.

    They are calling it in efforts to collect an extra $15,000 in charges for switching out the current shifter equipment for the what is called the back up battery which should be the only thing they should be selling, why would anyone want to choose a system that doesn't provide electricity in the event of, when the solar panel company, Sunrun, offers equipment that is designed for that purpose as well makes no sense. So you see, this 2.3 giant chooses to continue their 2.3 in billion and sales and now I can now understand how those sales would be in that scale of revenue, not just in sales but in other methods of arbitration and what they have compiled and have created a loophole for more charges and fees when misleadments and lies to convince clients into signing have been viewed to have been the case, in what I now see would be in ** speaking households.

    I'm yet to contact other victims to see the relation in ethnicity background and language barriers as I will still be investigating this despite their claims to labeling this misleadments of equipment and purchase. So you see, their solution to this problem Joe said is that my mom, if she wants the back up battery finance equipment installed in her home, would have to pay the difference in price, as price of that equipment, is from what Joe explained, alone the battery cost about $10,000, plus equipment, plus what he wants to charge my mom, another 10 to 15 thousand extra in fees for the swapping of the wrong equipment under what they want to collect that $15,000 for doing so called an upgrade which I think is the most ridiculous thing.

    So sounds like an additional $30,000 total added on the already purchase of equipment over 25 years which increases 1.5% every year for 25 years plus the cost of equipment, plus the home owner is not entitled to receive the solar panel tax incentive for home owners because the owner does not own the equipment, Sunrun does, which is 30% of the total purchase the government gives to home owners for helping the environment and going solar, because the owner of the home is financing. They can not reap the benefit of doing so, and receive that incentive in their filling of taxes. Sunrun does.

    Joe advised me to relay to my mom that it would be cheaper for my ** speaking mom to purchase some kind of back up battery through tesla in addition because it would be cheaper to buy that through them compared to what Sunrun, which he works for, would be charging to fix my mom's house from what she has the shifter to the correct equipment, the back up battery and shifter included, which is what she thought she was buying initially from the beginning.

    Had there not been an Edison power outage for repairs in the neighborhood, my mom still would living every day under the belief that she is living in a home with that protection while making payments for what is expected for the next 25 years without that protection back up. Can you believe that.. So now my mom is stuck with deciding I break a contract for equipment she did not purchase and now being forced to pay another $25,000 to $30,000 dollars for their misleadments and lies of sales man that I know now prey on the ** communities, and and Sunrun, and Joe.. We count on members like you to

    Original Review: Sunrun salesperson completely lied about the kind of equipment being installed and now Sunrun is refusing to correct the issue by installing the equipment that homeowner was lead to believe was being purchased, advising that the solution to preventing a power black out in the event would be to purchase a separate generator not related to sunrun from the local hardware store so we can provide power to our self while continuing to stay committed to the 25 year long payments on equipment that does not provide the power to our home in thee event of a black outage stating that the homeowner signed a contract in English and the homeowner only speaks Spanish and was only going off of what the salesperson was verbally relating to her and believed in good faith and confided in their sales person only finding and learning now that there sales personal prowls on the elderly and Spanish speaking community..

    They outta be ashamed of them selfs for allowing their involved managers that have been shuffling our case around to treat this matter as if we had an intention to deceive Sunrun. We simply only want a back up battery system that will provide power in the event of a blackout and they insist that they can not do anything and think that anyone would agree to just continue on for the next 25 years with payment on owing that the equipment we were promised and explained isn't the system they installed and lied to us all through the signing of the agreement process, and paperwork...

    I hope this claim reaches the desk of a panel of federal judges and rules in the publics and my mom's favor and rules and such a historical amount that sunrun's CEO and top authoritative figures fury runs down all the way to the individuals who had the chance to resolve this problem in good faith and in the interest of the consumer and customer that is precisely the reason for last years generating revenue of over 2.3 billion dollars...

    I have never dealt with a company so poorly run. Their customer service is beyond abysmal. When you run into an issue, they will continually tell you they are working on it. When you call back the next day to follow up, they will say they have no record of your calls (and there will be dozens and dozens of calls). They also claim to never have email records (mind you, these are email chains they claim to not have). Even if you message on Facebook at a last desperate attempt, they will over and over say they don't have records of the messages, even though you can see them when you scroll up. I have spent countless hours trying to just get help with SunRun. Their salesmen play a good game that tricks a lot of people, but how else can they act when almost all of their money is made through commission! I would never in a million years recommend SunRun to a single person.

    They do NOT honor anything they say. Took over 8 months to get the panels installed and then they damaged our roof. Leaking! Damaged my inside. Took the panels off to fix the roof and did more damage to the roof. That was March 14th, 2024. They have not been out and fixed it still to this day. Panels sit in the garage. Inside has water damage. They offer a 25-Year Roof Penetration Warranty but do nothing when you have issues. This company is dishonorable. You will regret trusting them or their false promises of any kind of Warranty. Google them. You'll see. There are complaint after complaint.

    After writing this review and giving them 1 start out of 5, I was immediately contacted by Chris who genuinely felt bad for the horrible experience I was having. He was in constant contact with me as we moved this matter along. The employees that were handling my case refused to give me a reimbursement until the repairs were done and my claim was marked as closed, however, once Chris got involved, I received my reimbursement within 3 weeks.

    Purchased this home the summer of 2023 and part of the agreement was to take over the lease with SunRun. Their customer service was amazing when I called to have the bill explained. Every technician that has come out has been wonderful. I was impressed up until they caused damage to my roof after they needed to change out some panels. I started the claim in December of 2023 and as I write this, it is the end of July 2024 with this matter still not resolved. They sent a technician out who very clearly was able to tell what the issue was. They sent out 2 other technicians after that to do what the first technician had already done. I had to take time off work each single time. Every technician that came was nice, but none seemed to know what they were really here for.

    After months and months of me constantly sending emails, they finally got a roofer out here to make the repairs. The day after the roof was repaired, I started having plumbing issues. Thinking this was a plumbing issue, I called my home warranty who couldn't get a plumber out here for 2 days. Those 2 days we had to stay with friends since our toilets and bathtubs were backed up. Turns out, a tube of silicone was found in my pipes. We couldn't understand how that got there. Our plumber then asked if we had any roofing work done. Their roofer dropped that tube in our sewer vent and didn't think to tell us causing us to have to pay for a plumbing issue that wasn't caused by us to begin with.

    They have agreed to reimburse me, but not until the claim is closed. I had buckets in my bedroom for months because they were so slow to get a roofer out to make the repairs. After the leak had been repaired, they had 2 contractors reach out to me to make the inside repairs. One contractor was very responsive, but SunRun was adamant that I use their other contractor. This contractor won't work with me by trying to schedule an afternoon repair so I don't have to be forced to miss more work.

    I have missed countless hours of work dealing with this. I have been dealing with the same 3 people at SunRun, Kylie, Sydney and Sarah and have asked them at least 6 times for the contact information of who they report to, and they won't give me that information. I would NEVER recommend SunRun to anyone after this whole ordeal. I don't understand why I have to wait for the claim to be closed since they have taken responsibility of all the problems they have caused. Yet, I continue to be billed and I'm expected to pay my bill, but the same doesn't apply to them? Worst customer service I have ever experienced!!!!

    I was leaving Costco one day and there was a gentleman there with pamphlets about Sunrun. I took one home because my husband and I had been discussing having solar panels installed and we gave them a call. Everything went as planned during the installation. There was a short period where we were dissatisfied with Sunrun but they rectified all the problems that we had. I have an app and it kept saying that they were aware that we were not producing what we should be producing but they're monitoring it.

    For about six months, we were paying very high electric bills because our utility company was not collecting any power from us at all. And we needed a new inverter here so I had to keep calling. I was always directed to someone new. So, the whole process seemed like it was forever beginning and they weren't great about returning calls like they say they would. Finally, Sunrun sent someone out and they put in a new inverter. The electric company came and checked it and everything was fine. We got the problem resolved and Sunrun reimbursed us for everything we paid. It took a while but I was more upset that they were aware of the problem and doing nothing about it.

But I don't have a battery backup and last I checked, I couldn't get a backup on an existing system. I would have to add an additional system. I would like to get a backup, though. Other than that, it's been great. There was an incident and it was taken care of really well. Also, the panels are on my reach and they're easy to clean.

    Sunrun contacted my HOA and my HOA make me go to my neighbors' houses to ask if it was okay for me to put solar panels up. They also made put an equipment in the garage, not mounted on the outside of the garage, which sort of messed up my crowded garage. But I did it. Then I noticed all these people have solar panels on their roofs and they have that thing on the outside of their garages. So the bottom line is, Sunrun did it the right way. Since installation, my electric bill is $20 a month. And in the summer time, that's really great. Sunrun initially told me how much my monthly payment would be and that's what it is.

    Other than that, when they put these panels up on the roof, they put in these critter guards to keep pigeons and other things from going underneath the panels and making homes. But in my case, they did not put the right one in. Their critter guard was a screen that went straight across, but I have Spanish tiles on my roof, so they're curved. So, I had somebody come out and take videos and pictures of my roof with a drone. Then, I called Sunrun and at first they tried to say that they would have to charge me to come out here, but I told them that they didn't have to charge me anything. I already had proof. They said okay, so I sent them the pictures and they had another company come out. It was very good and very thorough. And they fixed all the screens.

    We already had 11 panels that were installed 15 years ago to get us under the tier. We were finishing up a total solar unit on the roof and the experience with Sunrun was a little taxing at times. They were experiencing some issues and it took a while to get us online because of the two different companies that installed. We were still receiving our PG&E bill and it indicated that we weren't online. We also hadn't been informed that we were online. The system was hooked up and ready to go, but PG&E kept putting us off. Sunrun was trying to accommodate them, but it was difficult. We found out about it three months from the point when it should have been hooked up until it was hooked up.

    But Sunrun made it right and reimbursed us money for the electric bill for those three months that we weren't hooked up. Also, the last two times that we've gotten our electric bill, we've had a credit of $129 and $126 each month. We're thoroughly happy with Sunrun. We've had three other friends that have hooked up with Sunrun because we referred them.

    It was very, very easy to switch to Sunrun from traditional electricity. They paid me to do it. I talked to Sunrun recently because my power went off, and I didn't realize it. It took them over a month to notice. So, they sent me an email saying, “There's a problem with your system. We have to check it out.” Since I didn't know it, I immediately went outside and checked to see if somebody pulled a switch and sure enough, some kid had pulled the switch and turned it off. But it was odd that it took them a month to notify me and it was the best month of the year to build up power. So I complained about it and they gave me a $75 credit.

    Sunrun was professional. They came out when they said they would. I didn't have to be at the house when they did the installation. I just gave them access to the garage. They were able to get everything done. Since they installed the panels, it cut my bill way down in half during the summer time. And in the winter time I pay 25 bucks. In the summer, it's hot so we cranked on the air conditioning even lower, but the bill is still reasonable compared to what it used to be. It used to be almost 300 to 400 bucks in the summer. But with the panels, the bill is somewhere within 100. I got only 10 panels. I wish I got more. But at the time when they did the calculation, Sunrun said, “If you just wanna get certain amount of panels, it will be this, or if you want to get more, it will be that.” And at the time, I was, “All right. Let's just go with 10 panels.”

    Sunrun sounded like a good deal. We worked out the payment and it's been great ever since. Every now and then in the winter, I get one big bill sometimes. Sometimes it's $600, sometimes it's 200. The other day, it was $16, which was very unusual that I got a charge for anything. Usually, it says, "No payment due" every month. We've contacted Sunrun over it and we contacted the utility company over it. They all said the same thing. I was not producing on those and if I follow the chart, that's the way it is every year. I was like, "Okay. I guess it's legit."

    Sunrun was up and they've been keeping up with their part of the bargain. It works great. I usually never get a bill other than what I pay Sunrun. I called before and thought that it was malfunctioning and it wasn't. They were right. They had somebody in the area and they looked at it and said it was fine. I'm happy with with Sunrun.

They are using my roof for their benefit. I am not seeing any of that. It has been a blazing sun in the northeast this year. I have run all my appliances off peak except for the AC. They increase their rates up to and above 2% for using my roof??? How does that make sense?

    Sunrun Solar installers destroyed my roof. It will be a year this October that they haven’t fixed it. The panels and rails were removed and lay on my property.

    They have sent me 4 escalation team experts who either get fired or quit. I’m in Florida and Sunrun is no longer in Florida for new installs. I am trying to work with their insurance company to settle my claim. They are in breach of contract as far as I’m concerned. They have a horrible track record for customer service and keeping staff.

    Sunrun had a little bit of an aggressive tactic as far as the way they did the signup process. They wanted to get to installing the system very quickly, so they didn't give you time to get other quotes or really evaluate it. So they took ownership of the entire process and didn't really expect the consumer to have much input. In most cases, that may work out best for everybody, but I'm an engineer, so I had a different way of looking at it and I don't feel like I got the most efficient system for the equipment or the most efficient installation for the equipment that I purchased. I also wanted to slow the process down and make sure that we were getting the proper location for some of the equipment. In fact, they came back and changed the location of some of the equipment which were not to my liking and I was able to get it changed back, but it was a little bit of a hassle.

    Other than that, the biggest benefit of going solar is you're paying upfront for a system that is going to last at least 12 years at zero cost down the line. With the rising prices of energy, it mathematically makes sense to do it. If you're going to sell your home in the next couple of years, I would not suggest it because you don't get the value out of it on a resale. But the loan that I took out to get the solar is annually less than what I would pay for electricity. So it pays for itself in that sense. Aside from that, through the Tesla App, I can look at my daily usage and tracking of the system. I have a backup battery, so it makes it very nice to be able to adjust the way the battery is used as well as the amount of residual capacity that I'm able to tap into every day. Then monthly, PG&E provides an extensive report.

    We had a little issue with the last outage where it took a while for Sunrun to get out here. Also, we were supposed to be monitored but we were not being monitored. So we didn't even know that the system was down until I got my electric bill and saw this huge amount. My husband went outside and found out about it. But at that point, the system had been down for about five weeks, so we were not very happy. But Sunrun came through. The tech who came out was very professional and he did what he had to do. They also gave us a couple of months free credit toward our monthly payment on the panels and a credit for the time that the unit was down. Everything's been taken care of now and so far, so good.

    I love Sunrun. They were in my community, and they were walking from door to door. There was a young lady who came. Her name was Grace. I trusted her enough to let her in my home, and she was very thorough. She had all the answers. She had some pamphlet, but she wasn't looking at it and she was able to explain it.     The experience with Sunrun seems positive. In the beginning, I couldn't get ahold of anybody.     When my power went out, I wasn't told that my battery wouldn't last the longevity of the blackout. It was three days. So it has limited amount of power. Whatever is in the box is all we have to use. But I thought it would go ahead and rejuvenate itself every day. I thought I didn't have to have a compressor or something for power but now, I figured that I really do. The customer service was horrible. I was my own project manager for the whole thing. Go with another company. Don't use Sunrun.

    I bought a house and this company took my signature and put me in a 25 years contract without my knowledge. They make me sign a "transfer contract" so that they can provide me with the information of the prior owner. The old house owner didn't know he was in a contract, his realtor didn't know he was in a contract, the title company didn't know he was in a contract. I gave them a couple of days to work a deal so that I can keep the solar panels and they keep saying that is only for "new customer", I am a NEW CUSTOMER. They are all rude over the phone, keep harassing my wife phone even though I am asking them not to contact us anymore. I am looking for a reasonable attorney that would help me handle this case.

    I purchased a Ford Pro power system from Sunrun and it did not include installation instructions, I requested them online and got run around and never got in touch with a person, I called and they had no records for my purchase so I ended up going online & finding what I could, this is a complex wiring system and I have yet to get it working, I would not recommend buying the system from them. I will get it going but it will not be easy because of this company.

    This company deserves ZERO stars. I have been trying to reach someone regarding removal of the panels so that my roofer can install a new roof. NO ONE has called or emailed me back despite multiple attempts (more than 10 times) to get this service scheduled. This has been going on for several weeks. I have NEVER experienced such POOR customer service in my life. Sunrun apparently just wants to collect its monthly fees and is absolutely not interested in providing any customer services whatsoever. It is obvious that money and profits are the only thing Sunrun cares about. It is mind blowing how little they regard they hold for their customers.

    It is equally stunning how such a pathetic company was able to become the country's largest residential solar company. I'm certain there are many third-world companies worldwide that are providing infinitely better service than Sunrun. NO ONE COULD POSSIBLY BE WORSE. There is a very good reason why Sunrun consistently gets abysmal ratings on multiple consumer rating sites. Any 5-star reviews are highly suspect and are likely posted by company employees. I am completely regretting ever having heard of Sunrun and urge anyone considering signing up for Sunrun to AVOID SUNRUN LIKE THE PLAGUE. You'll thank me later. Trust me.

    The SunRun system was already installed when we bought the property, and it has only gone downhill since. The transfer process took over two years and was fraught with constant issues that remain unresolved. We received a response 16 months after opening a ticket about our incorrectly set up transfer account. The system frequently goes down; the longest outage lasted over three months during summer.     The billing is a nightmare, especially since the company SunRun used to handle billing with the Public Utility is no longer in business. This forces us to navigate between SunRun and the Electric Company without any proper customer service support. SunRun lacks a competent customer service team. They only have salespeople and under-trained overseas staff who lack the tools to resolve even the simplest issues. Overall, our experience with SunRun has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.

    Our experience with Sunrun has been a nightmare. They have made promises that they could not keep. We installed our system in September of 2023 and until this day the system is not properly working and our power bill has only gone up rather than down. On top of our bill going up we have to pay Sunrun a monthly bill for a system that does not work. They have scheduled us several times to come fix the issue and then cancel our appointments and then prolong the issue. I got fed up and asked to cancel their contract because they weren't meeting their end of the bargain and was told there is nothing they can do for me and that I'm on a 20-year contract so I basically have to just keep paying them even though the system isn't working.

    I have a good experience with Sunrun. We used to pay a lot on electric. We have quite a bit of panels in our house, so it seems to consume plenty of electricity, and we have a credit with our national grid. So, that's really good. The only thing is I really wish we would be able to get reimbursement on the credit that we're building up with National Grid because otherwise, the money just sits there and nobody gets it back. It would be nice if we could use the credit to pay towards our monthly bill, but I don't think they do that either. Other than that, I've never had an issue with Sunrun at all. I'm glad we went with it and it seems to be a very good benefit to us.

    The representative came to the door and he was a polite, young man. So we decided to look into Sunrun and liked what we saw. Signing up was very simple and he did most of the work so it was easy for us. I liked the service. He explained it all and it literally happened as he said. The roof was checked for the panels and found to be okay. And it was go time. The installation went smoothly and the men were efficient.

    We get a bill once a month from PG&E and we got some $10 charges somewhere along the line, but most of the time it's zero. So it seems to be covering our needs, which is the main thing. We have 18 panels and it was based on how many kilowatts Sunrun thought we needed. We've never paid a bill and we pay the monthly fee. But considering that our summer bill was high, we're happy. It was $400 a month. I tried to tell a neighbor about Sunrun but at the time he came here, he saw an extra line running through a caravan and he didn’t want anything to do with that. Eventually, they took it out and got some solar. But I doubt if they got Sunrun.

    AVOID SUNRUN AT ALL COSTS. SHODDY WORK WITH POOR MATERIALS. I inherited a leased system when I bought a house. Complete disaster. 5 year warranty over (although I'm committed for 20 years.. go figure), and roof leaking everywhere. Major damage. Roofer said multiple penetrations missed the mark. Panels need to come off, railing system needs to come off, roof replaced, panels and raling need to be replaced. $$$. So I have to now pay Sunrun $200 a panel (51 panels) to remove them, then pay for new roof, then obligated to put the same damn panels on brand new roof, with same shoddy poor work, probably causing the same issue. Criminals. STAY AWAY.

    Sunrun has been positive from the very beginning and they've done a good job with the follow-up. I'm able to get answers on any questions I have. I'm on their website and I can monitor the production of my units. So they've always been very helpful and they're doing exactly what they say they were going to do. And they're doing it on a consistent and regular basis. One time, they had to come and replace the converter. They did that very capably and they made sure that I got a refund for the periods of time when it was down. Also, I did not have to make my payment on the months that it was down. So Sunrun followed through on everything that was in the contract and I've not found any problems with it at all so far. I would recommend them.

    Everything was going according to the plan during the installation. The initial plan included a storage battery to be installed to store the excess electrical power generated. Later, I learned from Sunrun that they're not gonna be able to install a battery because they cited that the city that we live in doesn't allow installing batteries indoors. So, the storage batteries needed to be installed outdoors. But there was no space in the area where Sunrun wanted to install the battery so they just scrapped the storage batteries. I went along with that, believing that that was the case.

    On the other hand, a number of my neighbors have also installed solar panels and they have their batteries stored in a garage. How other companies could install batteries inside the garage in my neighborhood and Sunrun could not is something that still is a question for me. When they said that the city is not allowing installing batteries inside the garage, I took that. This may make sense because it may be a safety issue. Maybe it's a fire issue because battery is something loaded with all kinds of energy storage and sometimes, batteries can heat up and explode and be a higher fire hazard. Maybe that is the case. And I was making up reasons to convince myself that what Sunrun is telling me is making sense.

    But as I saw the others installing batteries inside their garages, I thought about how sincere Sunrun’s feedback was and how solid the reasoning for that was. You can be cynical and say that at that time, Sunrun did not have enough batteries in their stock and they just wanted to just weasel out. Or installing a battery did not make financial sense to someone at that point. And therefore, they just moved my project forward by giving me a bunch of mumbo jumbo. Maybe someday, somebody will help me understand that.

    The price of the batteries was approximately $10,000. The cost of everything is going up and will keep going up. Maybe the competition will drive the cost of the battery down. But on the other hand, with all the EVs and the additional need for storage of electrical power, it's very likely that the cost of the battery will go up rather than down. So, even if Sunrun comes back to me and says they’re ready to put a battery inside our garage, I'm gonna be paying a high price for that because of the cost difference between 2023 and hypothetically 2025.

    We just have the panels and it's connected to the network and they don't pay a lot for that. So, we are producing energy and sending it to the network for a lower price. And we're getting them for a higher price from the network. We have no storage capacity so, we're at their mercy. When you have storage, it will reduce the dependence on the higher-cost electrical power that you're receiving from them. But overall, Sunrun did well. The product is great and everything seems to be functioning well. I hope it will be functioning the same in the future, at least for some time. I have the app and I don't do that regularly but once in a while, I go to it. In Southern California, we have months of May and June overcast. So, we don't have a whole lot of sunshine until later on in the day, and that piqued my curiosity to see if the system is producing or not. I go to it and when I do, I see how much we're producing, which is good and it is all I need.

    We were already with Sunrun and knew about them so we wanted to stay with the same company. Jonathan, the rep I dealt with, was good. The way he explained everything was very thorough and he would make sure to get back to me. He was amazing. But sometimes, when I call to get information, one person will be able to give me so much information but then, I can't figure out what another person is trying to tell me. If I ask about something happening with my system, it's not clear enough for me.

    We have things set up online to track what we're producing. If something is going on, I would normally call and the reps will explain if I don't understand. The bill comes at a certain amount every month. So, once it comes like that, I know that we're producing. If I see a variation, I'll call them and they'll explain and might ask how the weather is. They would bring all these factors. While I'm looking on my end, they will be looking on their end. And if there's a problem, they'll let me know. If people are interested in solar, they should use Sunrun.

    Something's going on now. I don't know if my solar panels are working now or not. I haven't had the time to get out there and check but my electric bill is getting crazy. It says it's going up. But to be going up at that rate when it's just only two of us in the house, my panels aren't working. I've sent an email asking Sunrun. Some guy responded and it seems like general information that he sent me on how it works. He didn't answer my question. My gas and electric bill is quadrupling and I'm getting a notice that I'm using more than what I have been using. I'm up 84%, which does not make sense to me.

    Before, I loved Sunrun. I know what my payments are gonna be. It's locked in for the next 25 years. But now, I don't feel comfortable saying that without somebody coming out or something happening. I like knowing what my monthly rate's gonna be and at the end of the year, I always have my true-up. There was always a $700 balance and now, I'm getting billed $700. Something is not right. I'll reach out to Sunrun and talk to somebody because they kept trying to get me to get more panels. I didn't need them at the time and because I wasn't using anything. I always had extra energy left over and now, something shady is going on or a panel has been disconnected.

    I have the system for 4 years and want everyone to be aware that If you install a battery with the solar system it is not under your control. PG&E controls the battery and how/when will discharge. Every time when I had outages in my area, the battery did not kick in and I was told by Sunrun that the battery is not for me and it only feeds the grid. So you pay for the battery and yet can't use it when needed!!

    Listen Sunrun is ok, but their customer service has been awful. I am not sure who they switched from but when we originally bought our house I dealt with a nice lady from the states who had everything ready for transfer by the time the house was in our name. Now that we sold our house 4 years later it has become terrible customer service. Both realtors have said the same thing from fumbling the transfer initiation to correctly and effectively communicating to everyone. Now a month later I am getting charged again with a $7.50 charge because I stopped autopay thinking everything was done. It has been headache after headache from sunrun because of their customer care.

    I've been with Surun for the past 2 years, to start I was promised that my electrical bill would go down to $100 monthly, besides the $109 that I was going to be paying for Sunrun. Which was a lie, I never got any discount for anything on my electrical bill. And I come to find last month that they never did the interconnect with Eversource. I'm feeling like a fool. I paid Sunrun extra $109 for two years for nothing, also, paid my full electrical bill. I do not recommend Sunrun. If you look up about them, they have a lot of bad reviews. I did not know about it when I signed with them. I'm going to a legal team to get my rights.

    Sunrun’s reps rang the bell and explained things. But there are a lot of things that I signed for that they didn't point out to me until after the fact. First, they told me it was free. Then they turned around and I had to pay $83 every month. They never told me that after 25 years, I have to pay for the whole panel in full. And I didn't like that. I had to call the young lady to ask her on how I pay for this after. I'm paying $83 and I figured that was going towards the panel but it wasn't. I would recommend Sunrun to the extent that they have to let people know that. It's like a mortgage. The only thing I found is my light bill went down.

    We had Sunrun solar panels installed on two of our roofs in 2016. There have been many roof leaks. Three times Sunrun came out to repair leaks without success. The fourth time they had a roofer reshingle the roof adding a snow and ice barrier under the shingles. Still that roof has at least three leaks and now we discover the other roof has at least one leak with black mold growing. We have no confidence that the fifth repair will be a charm. We want them to remove their panels from the roofs and void the lease purchase contract but they are refusing so far.

    Original Review: I needed to expand my PV system and we signed a contract. After the site inspection, they wanted to put the inverter on my front wall (contrary to what we said at inspection). Then they said the whole house battery was too old (installed after the first Sunrun PV system). Then they said they won't install a second PV system with a competitor's battery installed. Then they said my first PV lease was in breach due to my house having a competitor's battery. That's one star right there, but with all the delays my NEM-2 validated expansion would get NEM-3 now with another installer. Even DIY. They refuse unless I pay them a $7,800 breach-of-contract fee. There is no -- *NO* -- breach. The battery and the old PV are installed in parallel. No modification. No tampering. No breach.

    3/25/24- I have been a customer since 2019, and from install to this day, I am still paying over $2000-3000/yr to Edison for power. This is due to Sunrun designing my system incorrectly (admittedly), under-producing, and they refuse to resolve the issue. I have made several complaints, phone call, emails, chats and have opened cases (**, **, etc.), and others but they have fallen off the website now. All they offer is to install more panels, at my expense of an additional $10,000, to solve the admitted under-production design issue. We have had countless Sunrun representatives to our home, with no resolution, only a sales pitch, as described above. I currently have a Yellow "Fault" light on, Red "communication" light on, and the Power Production light is OFF. I chatted with the company online and was told that there was not a problem, and they would not schedule a service.

    I chatted with a second agent and was finally able to get a proposed appointment scheduled (we'll see). It always takes multiple attempts to get any type of help. I have also had panel issues and a failed inverter during all of this. I want my under-production issue to be resolved. I paid (in full now) $37,000 to still have to pay Edison $2000-3000/yr forever. This is absolutely unacceptable business practice. Also, we have not added any additional items in our home since the install. No additional TVs, accessories, fridges, etc. In fact, we now limit our appliance use and limit AC usage because of our continued Edison bill. P.S. My best friend across the street, with the exact same house and floor plan, with Sunrun's system, consistently has CREDIT with Edison to spare. I want this resolved. 4/5/24 – Battery has faulted out and needs to be replaced. Technician told me only a few days, it is pretty common and can replace quickly.

    4/22/24 – Escalation Email response from SunRun rep: ” Dear Chris, I sincerely apologize for the delay in my response. I understand your frustration, and I sympathize with the current situation at hand. It is important to note that you have saved $2,533.75 on utility payments; without your solar panels, you would have paid $4,412.97. Additionally, I have duly noted that your system is now paid off in full. To address the inconvenience you have experienced, I am happy to facilitate a complimentary healthy system inspection and waive the associated costs. Furthermore, as a one-time gesture of goodwill, I would like to offer you a $250 check. Please let me know if you would like to accept this offer."

    ---- I declined this offer, as it is a payoff attempt to close the case and not repair my system. 4/29/24 – Battery has not been addressed/replaced yet. Now have been told it will be 8 weeks for approval and replacement. SunRun has not further addressed my unproduction concerns.

    Working with Sunrun was a breeze. They showed up on time and did a good job. They seemed honest and were very reliable. I would recommend them to anyone. The solar panels are running really well and getting a lot of electricity. There's an app that we can go to that keeps an eye on our production and it could be a little better, but it's pretty good. They just improved it recently. I told my sister about getting Sunrun as well. It's a really good way to generate electricity. It's clean and efficient. The only problem we have is when it snows and when the snow stays on the solar panels, they don't produce electricity.

    The service with Sunrun initially was very stop and go. Nothing got scheduled because they changed project managers three times so it took about four and a half months to finally get everything installed. Then, it took another month to get everything turned on. We had an issue with a leak in the ceiling through the roof and it took almost a year to get that fixed. Overall, the solar panels are working well while they're running, but we lost a whole month of service because we were waiting on them to fix things.

    Most months, we're not paying electricity and we're just paying the gas bill. Winter months, we usually have a small bill for electricity and a larger gas bill. On summer months, it offsets about 80% of what it would cost otherwise. We had batteries installed so I can track what I’m producing through the app associated with the batteries. On the whole, we've achieved the service that we pursued from the beginning. We've had some obstacles along the way. Unfortunately, that's not unique to Sunrun. That happens in a lot of different industries. Every solar industry is only as good as their local assets. If the infrastructure where you live exists and Sunrun is a player, then it's a good idea. But people should do their homework. Everybody's looking for solar for different reasons.

    We had Tim from Sunrun come and talk to us, and he talked us right into it. We were very impressed. He explained everything, they came out and had it all up there on the roof the same day. They had the electricians come out to connect it to the house. Tim was the one we worked with. The other guys were in and out. They explained what they did. They're very knowledgeable. They just told us what they were doing, and we love it. I get what I produce on my account every month. All I have to do is go to the site and it would show what we used. I pay $75 a month to Sunrun and $15 a month to ComEd. That's it. In the wintertime, my electric bill was 200 some dollars, so it made a big difference.

    The Sunrun salesperson, David, was a very nice individual. He was open and honest about everything that happened, the fact that he had used the company himself and was very happy with the product. He turned around and started working for them. He showed me his own bills. I took some time to look into the company because there were a lot of people running around Vegas still trying to do solar. I liked everything that the Sunrun people were offering as far as everything that was involved, including full roof inspection, and if there were areas that needed to be repaired, I was able to get that taken care of. It was a good experience. The installers were very good. Installing here in Vegas, especially around spring and summertime, is not enjoyable. It's extremely hot but they were able to get in here in April a couple of years ago, and they did an excellent job. The product has been working without a hitch since.

    As far as changes in our bills, it was almost immediate because my roof gets a lot of southern exposure from the sun, so we were able to take advantage of that. As long as there's not that many clouds in the sky but if it is, it's still able to produce some wattage. So there's only been three electric bills in the last two years that I've had to pay like $50. Mostly it's just a fee to keep the account open, which is 13. My original electric bills were never crazy outrageous. The highest we paid was close to $300 one summer during August, which would have been the worst of the months. But on average, I’m maybe $100 to $200 a month with my average bill. Going solar was cost effective because I got a 20-year loan but I could pay it off sooner and it's just a 2% rate. After the 20 years is up and I would have paid it off, the solar products are guaranteed after 30 years to still be 87% effective.

    The Sunrun sales guy I talked to was good. He was polite, courteous and had a lot of knowledge of what he was talking about. I'm happy with it. Getting it up and running took a little bit longer than what I expected, but I lagged on the paperwork. Part of it was my fault for not turning the paper in on time. Other than that, once they got everything going, it was good. Since then, my PG&E bill dropped. And not only that, I got the backup battery and whenever there's a power outage, I still have power. Their website is also easy to manage. I just wish I would have paid less for it.

    Sunrun’s sales rep Kyle ** lied to my face! He assured me that if my roof is old Sunrun would replace it at no cost to me prior to the installation of solar panels. Based on this assurance, I signed a contract that same day. A couple of weeks later I received a report, stating that my roof is good. Now, only a few months later my roof is leaking! I have reports (with pictures and drone video) from 3 accredited roofing companies who clearly show that the roof has multiple cracks, missing and broken shingles, exposed roof nails, there are numerous spots with algae and moss, indicating that the shingles are letting water get through, etc. It is absolutely clear that the solar panels should never have been installed on a roof in such conditions.

    I have exchanged several dozen text messages, emails, and phone calls with Sunrun’s so-called “customer support” who are openly rude and unhelpful. After 3 weeks of daily messages on my part, a case was finally open. The case manager, Judith Jordan, had the audacity to tell me that there is no leak in my home! Even though I have proof to the contrary from 3 roofing companies!

    Now Sunrun wants to charge me to remove the solar panels; panels, which should not have been installed in the first place! I have spoken with several other families in the neighborhood, who have signed with Sunrun, and they all confirm that the same has happened with them – the sales representatives would offer to replace the roof and even cut down nearby trees to maximize access to sunlight, but once the contracts were signed, none of this has been done. This is a clearly established pattern of misrepresenting their services.

    Additionally, Sunrun ignores/doesn’t warn the property owner of the poor condition of the roof, because later, when damages occur, Sunrun can charge the house owner extra for removing and reinstalling the panels. This is not simply negligence but an intention to defraud! Frankly, it borders on extortion! I am filing complaints with the county and state division of consumer affairs, and with the BBB. Sunrun’s dishonest and predatory practices, and abusive behavior to their customers should not be allowed to continue!

    Hello. I definitely will recommend my friends or my customers to go with SUNRUN Company in 2022. My best friend came to my house for Labor Day weekend. He ask me do I want to install solar panel. I said sure so we both decided to install at the same times. We loved it in 2023 to present. Our PG&E bill look really good and we save a lot of money especially summer and winter. Sunrun employee is very professional and good workings attitude and also clean up after they are done installing the solar panel. They know what they are doing. They also had an electrician or site Foreman which took a lot of pictures. Also all the crews work on the roof put on safety harness.     BUYER BEWARE!!! I am writing to formally complain about Sunrun Inc.'s unethical sales practices regarding installing and operating solar panels at my residence. In 2019, we entered into an agreement with Sunrun to install a 15-panel solar system on our home's roof. The monthly payments quoted were going to be $87 + an average of $50 to APS. Due to negligence from SunRun’s third-party company to thoroughly inspect the electric panel and salesperson not asking the appropriate installation questions our city did not approve SunRun to turn on the panels. We have worked with SunRun for almost three years to get the proper permit from the city to be able to turn on the panels.

    When we tried to resolve this with Sunrun, they dismissed my concerns, claiming they tried to do everything they could to get the city’s approval, but so far, the panels have remained on my roof. We have been dealing with multiple people from Timothy ** to Justin (SunRun refused to disclose his last name), Marcus, and many customer service representatives that just keep giving us the runaround. When asked for a manager or VP who we can talk to or email they stated SunRun does not disclose their upper management information. After two years of only been able to TEXT Justin we requested SunRun to remove the panels and repair or replace my roof, for breach of contract, they assigned Lauren from “at risk case” dept to contact us to try to resolve this matter. Lauren stated the notes in their system states We REFUSE TO COOPERATE with SunRun to get the appropriate permit.

    We told Lauren how we can refuse if we do not even know what permit the city is requesting as that is not our job to know. Lauren stated she was just calling to let us know we remain bound to the solar panel contract and if we want them removed it is a breach of contract, and we are responsible for the payment. This conduct is not only deceptive but also financially exploitative, especially given is not our responsibility or job to know what paperwork/ permit the city requested. The financial impact of Sunrun's actions is significant. Sunrun failed to fulfill its obligations under the initial agreement and engaged in deceptive sales practices by denying any wrongdoing instead of addressing the underlying issue of zero power delivery. Such conduct is unacceptable and warrants immediate investigation and remediation. If anyone here can help us seek legal action, please put it in the comments.

    I've received 23 straight APS Bills on top of my $240 Sunrun Bill for a system that was built at 35% more than what I supposedly used in previous yr. I've upgraded all the windows in my home, Pool Pump, AC, Lights, Washer/Dryer all to Energy Efficient and system is still not producing to what I was sold. Reached out multiple times and all I get is it's working as it should, a Rep came out once and wanted me to purchase additional panels. If I could go back I'd never get Solar - I'm at the point I'm going to let it hit my Credit as I'm done paying $400-$500 a month for electric.

    I would not recommend a solar system from Sunrun to anyone, unless you enjoy the thrill of constant water damage and unending frustration. From the moment I inherited the lease for the Sunrun solar panels with my home purchase in March of 2020, it has been a downhill journey of disappointment and regret. While the first few years might have seemed tolerable, the true colors of Sunrun's incompetence revealed themselves when the heavens decided to open up, and my roof turned into a sieve.

    Imagine my dismay when I discovered water cascading into my office from the vent above my desk during a particularly rainy season. Naturally, I sought professional help, only to be met with the stark reality that the issue lay squarely with the botched installation of the Sunrun solar panels. Despite the roofer's assessment and the obvious signs pointing to Sunrun's workmanship, the company's response was nothing short of a slap in the face.

    Upon contacting Sunrun for assistance, I was met with a wall of excuses and deflections. Apparently, the warranty on the roof magically evaporated into thin air the moment I signed the transfer agreement. Convenient, isn't it? When pressed for any documentation or communication from the previous owner regarding the persistent leak, I was met with blank stares and claims of non-existence. It's almost as if Sunrun expects us to believe that their responsibility vanishes into oblivion along with any trace of accountability.

    To add insult to injury, obtaining a quote for the removal of the panels felt like extracting teeth. Three agonizing weeks passed before Sunrun deigned to grace me with a figure, a figure so exorbitant it bordered on the absurd. And if that wasn't enough, they had the audacity to demand a minimum 30-day notice for removal, as if my life isn't already inundated with deadlines and headaches caused by their incompetence.

    In conclusion, if you cherish your sanity, your home, and your hard-earned money, steer clear of Sunrun like the plague. Their disregard for customer satisfaction, their lack of accountability, and their penchant for incompetence make them a hazard to any homeowner foolish enough to entrust them with their solar needs. Save yourself the headache, and invest in a company that values integrity and craftsmanship, because Sunrun certainly doesn't.

    Sunrun contacted me in say May, and the whole thing wasn't done until January. So, it took quite a while to get things done. My first contact there needed to take a medical leave, so the ball kinda got dropped. For about two months, I wasn't sure what was going on. They weren't calling me and returning my calls. It turned out that the first guy was on leave, and they hadn't assigned it. Once they got it assigned to somebody else, things went well.

    There were some surprise costs that I didn't anticipate. I had to do some work on my roof because it wasn't up to the code for the solar panels, but I understand that happens. I had to redo part of my roof because it wasn't good enough to support the panels. We wanted to have enough panels that I wouldn't be paying anything out of pocket for electricity. So, we fudged it on the side of like it generating more than I used. The results have been fine. Sunrun has been responsible. To some extent, you gotta deal with Sunrun and you gotta also deal with your utility, which is LADWP. So at one point, Sunrun would be done, but LADWP wasn't ready. Then it took them about a month to certify it. I understand everybody has those issues. I haven't talked to anybody that didn't have those issues.

    Then my meter went bad in January of '23 and for about a month, DWP couldn't tell how much I was generating. That was actually on them. Other than that, they've been very responsive. There's been a couple of times where I had issues. When I called them, I got through to them right away. They do send people out really quickly. Initially, I wasn't very happy with them because it seemed like they had forgotten about me but once they got that part fixed up, it was okay. And since then, everything's been okay.

    I don't pay anything for electricity. There's a bank of money that goes up every month where I'm generating more electricity than I'm using. And even though I don't get cash for that, that would count against any month where if I somehow used more electricity than I generated. So if it was a really cloudy month, I would have a bank against that. I haven't had any problem with outages. I do have a backup battery, but I haven't had enough power outages just to even know how that works. Sunrun is a good company to work with. They're a big company and they're located out of state, but they're still responsive. They deal with local contractors for the installation. The biggest issue with solar is just the rules with the California Public Utilities Commission. They keep changing. So, you do have to do your due diligence. The rules today are not the same as the rules when I bought my system.

    Sunrun was on our house when we bought it. I canceled it because I wasn't happy. But when I found out it was Sunrun, I put the deal back again. It was Sunrun that saved the deal. Part of the deal was the previous owner told me she had $22,000 she owed on it. I told her she'd pay half of it, and I'd pay half to pay it off. Everybody agreed. Now, my bills every other year are zero and every other year, they're $3.25.

    Right before I came in, the owner had told us that they were sending someone out because a squirrel is chewing at the wires. They came right out and fixed it. When we bought the house, we made a deal with Sunrun one time on, one time off. First, putting the roof on. They worked with my roofer. It was done in a few days and it was perfect. I'm happy with what we did. Don't go with any other company. They're not as helpful as Sunrun.

    Sunrun explained everything and didn't pester me. I asked, “How could you put it up for free?” They said, “It goes with the house so if you sell the house, we need to get permission from the next owner.” The installation took forever and a day because San Diego Gas & Electric was taking their time. It took them six months to get it hooked up. But it was nothing that Sunrun was holding up ‘cause they came to put those panels up lickety-split. Within a week they were up.

    I had my own panel, and they removed it and put a bigger one. I don't have a problem in any part of the house except the kitchen. I can't use the toaster and the coffee pot. I can't use the crock pot and the microwave. I have my crock pot set up in another room or all the power goes out in the kitchen and dining room if I do. I never had that problem prior. I've been thinking I got more power now but I can't use it. I unplug all appliances but my refrigerator and microwave because it's hard for me to unplug them. Everything else is turned off.

    I am not happy with Sunrun. They were not upfront. When I asked the salesman how much it would cost to have some solar panels put up on my house, he told me there was nothing. We got them up on the roof and did a lot of paperwork. He never offered me to look at the contract. My son went through the contract and said, "You know you signed up for 25-year contract and if somebody buys the house, they've got to accept the contract with the house." I didn't know all this and that was very upsetting.

    The salesman should've given me the contract and told me to read through it instead of having me sign all the papers. I'm 84 years old and don't owe anybody 10 cents. Why would I sign up for a 25-year contract and pay $102 a month? I contacted Sunrun about it they did not offer any help at all. If there was any way out of it, I would go ahead and get rid of the solar panels and make do with the Edison bill. We immediately got a $2,000 bill from Edison, which I didn't understand. I had them turn that into payments instead of a one-time bill.

    The solar part has been great. The only negative part is that Sunrun uses contractors to do the installations. Sunrun had somebody come out to mark where the ground should go on the side of the house but they didn't know what it really meant. They mounted the ground in the front of the house. So there's a visible ground wire running across the front of the house, and then they left a bunch of lag bolts on the roof that I had to go up on the roof and get. But Sunrun itself does awesome.

    During our first year, I had issues where the meter wasn't syncing. So we couldn't tell what we produced that day. But it seems to have been straightened out now. We only paid two bills last year and they were around 30 bucks and it was when California tried to rob everybody for the gas and tripled the price. But at the end of the year, we never got a check for the balance of what was there.

    I have a PPA agreement with Sunrun. They put the panels up on my roof and takes care of the panels. I agreed to a fixed rate over the next 20 years. At the end of the year, if I have overproduced then I get the credit. I pay a set amount to Sunrun which is $105 a month. I still get a bill every month from Edison for the surcharges and the connection fees which usually is around $10. But I haven't actually paid that in over four and a half years. After the credits, my electric bill goes about $75 a month. Sunrun saves me money on my electric bill and I'm very satisfied.

The meters and bills they promised are not the same ones they told us about. It's higher. It's also very difficult to get in touch with them. You call but they don't answer their phones. Sometimes they'll call you four days afterwards.

    Being first homeowners has been a very rewarding experience. Being a single income family of four we are always looking for ways to cut our expenses: I contacted Lukas from Sunrun. He told me "everything" and explained most details. It said it would be easier to talk in person so we made a time to meet. Verbally, He told me that the sun will produce energy, our bill would be at least cut in half or none at all because our house gets so much sun we will over produce. My husband and I were so excited that would help us out so much financially but "what was the catch?" My family did this to save money as everyone else wants to save money in their future. Lukas said that it didn't cost anything for the panels, if we look at our national grid bill we are actually paying toward it. He said if we under produce compared to the electricity that we were using, then we would have a minimal bill.

    My bill $5 less than last year. I received my bill concerned why the first 2 months were the exact same. I called sunrun, the representative explained to me that in my contract I have a set monthly amount and it goes up 3% every year. It has nothing to do with as much energy that I use Or don't use. It is a set amount now. That was not what was verbally said to me! Lukas blatantly lie and deceived us. He told us one thing when he knew it was something totally different. Dealing with sun run customer service was horrendous, professionally. The representative informed me to write a letter of complaint that this is not what was promised. My husband called and a representative opened a case for us. Ann our case manager left a message on my husband's cell phone, since the account is under his name, along with an email with her Direct line on 12.19.23. I emailed her back that day, I got a response of an automated message from sunrun customer service and they will be in contact with me.

    From then on I would reply to her email directly. I called her direct line and it always went straight to voicemail. I was unable to speak to anyone until 1.4.24. She told me to send any of proof that I have of what Lukas had said to me. He promised me a gift card of $250 (never received) along with all the details of how much money I would be saving! I sent what I had, but confirmed that most of what he said was verbal. I received a reply on 1.19.24. She informed me that the complaint was sent to the integrity team and she could give me a one time $300 credit for the difference in our monthly bill. Insinuating we using our electricity differently….She said once our system reaches a full year, they can initiate a Home Electricity Report where they will be requesting our 12 consecutive invoices from our utility provider and their Specialized agents will be working with me directly.

    I did not agree since that would put a band-aide on our current situation. She then closed the case. Why would I drill all 32 panels into my 3 year old roof to save five dollars, it doesn't make any sense. I am not using my electricity any different than I did a month ago. This is a clear case of bait switch. Their average response time to emails is 3 to 4 weeks. It takes weeks for them to respond to an email. So, in the end, the consumer gets taken advantage of, promised gift cards and substantial savings that doesn’t happen. It is true our house produces much energy, but that energy is stored and then sold to other consumers. If I had known that my savings would be five dollars per month. I never would have put panels on my three-year-old roof.

    The rep with Sunrun, Skye, explained everything thoroughly. It was very understandable. I had no mixed thoughts about it. Sometimes you get the runaround and explanations are hard to understand, but he spoke clearly. Normally, there's always a catch. But he was upfront and let me know that there was nothing of that sort, playing games to try to hook you into getting something that you're not interested in. The biggest thing that I liked was that there was no cost coming out of my pocket. It was hard to believe but he kept reassuring. The installers came in and put the panels up on the east side of the roof. They installed the panels close to the top of the roof. On the west side, they didn't install them at the top like the east side. They had lowered it and when I asked them, they said it was what they were told. I called Skye about it and they took care of it. They placed them up above. I was pleased with the process.

    Since the panels have been installed I've noticed some savings. In the summer months where it's hot and electricity is being used, I'm not paying $240 bill a month. But in the winter months, I've seen my bill go up a little high. I was using Christmas lights but even then in the wintertime when I'd used it when I didn't have solar, I didn't go up to $160. But at the same time, I don't know if the panels were producing a lot of power because there was a lot of overcast. I also had a friend talk to me where they have panels that can melt the ice off of the panel in the winter months. There were some times in the winter where it was nice and sunny outside, but my panels had ice on them. Maybe they were not producing anything 'cause they were covered. If Sunrun has panels that can melt the ice off the panel, that would be nice.

    I had to send Sunrun dragging their feet before we could turn the unit on and it was just a joke. But it all got worked out. We started out with 20 panels and it was fine for the first couple of years. All of a sudden we got hit with this huge bill from Edison and I was, "How is this possible? This is why we went solar." Edison tried to say that we pulled 7,000 kilowatts off their grid. So, I called the rep at Sunrun and she had me send the last 12 months of billing from Edison. She looked at it and said, "Yes. In fact, you did draw that much off there. But you have solar. You shouldn't be pulling that much off of them." I said, "There's the bill. Almost two grand. They're telling me we owe them." She got with the design team and they ended up coming out and putting up 12 additional panels for us, and the backup battery. Ever since we've had the additional 12 put in, last year and this year, we have received several hundred dollars back from Edison at the end of our year.

    The Sunrun reps are very professional and courteous. I gave them my information and they took it down, looked at the PG&E bill and calculated what I'd be using, then they proposed a system for me. I had original panels from Vivint Solar and Sunrun tried to match them up so I would have all the panels the same, but they were on backorder. They reached out to me and proposed another panel, which is just as good. They just wouldn't look the same. So, installation took a bit longer. Overall, it took about six months because of the backorder. Other than that, it was good. I'm very satisfied, and I like my experience.

    The panels have been on the roof since 2015, and I bought the house in November of ’22. Last fall, I had to have my kid go up and pull a plant growing in between the panels. But Sunrun is better. Everybody I dealt with was golden. I'm highly satisfied. I would like a little bit more out of the app though. Compared to what I had, I could see 100% live data of what I was producing at any given moment. I like to see what I'm producing and what I'm using. They had that comparable graph. Sunrun's more along the lines telling me how much I produce. Also, if I had known then what I know now, I definitely would have changed where the location of the panels are. I probably would have done a solar roof. I designed a tracking system. A buddy of mine used it, and it is fantastic. It's a panel that's out in the yard and it automatically follows the sun.

    I was at Costco one day, and a very nice gentleman said, "Would you like to have somebody come out, tell you what's up?" I said yes. A young man came out, and he was very nice but a little bit scattered and couldn't answer the questions I had. Eventually, somebody else contacted me. Finally, a manager from Sunrun contacted me and got it worked out. My installation happened early February of last year. They said they were gonna be here on a particular day, and they showed up and got everything done. The people that needed to do the review and licensing came out at exactly the times they said they would. They also flipped the switch exactly when they said they were gonna and I haven't had any problems since the switch was thrown.

    I've been producing electricity since last year, and I'm very happy with what I'm seeing because I do not like paying a utility bill. I was getting big credits all summer long as well. The good news is it was so nice to see me not having to pay what I had been paying Arizona Public Service. Somebody sent something out about what it would take to put a battery on so I could conserve as much of the energy as I can without having to give it back to APS. I need to figure out if there is some way to do that, but I don't know if APS has done something that doesn't allow us to do that or not.

    I have three roofs on my house and Sunrun did the whole two of them. They did an excellent job. Then Sunrun notified me that they weren't getting signals on my panels. They came by and took care of it. They caught it before I did. They put a booster on my Wi-Fi outside and after that, I had no problem. The weather doesn't affect it like it affects charging cars.

    I only paid a dollar to have this system installed. The nice thing about leasing it is they take care of the equipment. If anything goes wrong, they have to replace it and it doesn't cost me anything. If I happen to sell my house, I can sell the Sunrun part of it too. I'm not locked in or stuck with it. It could be transferred over to whoever buys the house. That was a nice feature that they told me. When I did this, my bill was 500 from Con Edison. With Sunrun, I saved a tremendous amount of money. It saved me a good $5,000 a year. It covers 78% of my bill. My Sunrun bill in the winter time is normally $75 to $85. In the summer time, when I have all my air conditioners on, it might go up to 200, 225 and my Con Edison bill is still 65.

    I've used Sunrun once for customer service, and they responded and took care of the problem. I'm very satisfied except for the last two months. I had gotten a high Con Edison bill. They sell my energy back to Con Edison if I don't use it all. They said that my bank was empty until the summer where we have more sun and I could sell more energy. Sunrun supplied me with about 7,000 kilowatts and Con Edison ended up supplying me with 1,000 kilowatts. That 1,000 kilowatts cost me 450 a month.

    At first, there were some problems. But once those got worked out, it has been fine since. I would like the people from Sunrun going door-to-door to have a record of who already has the system because they keep coming back. Our house is built in an L. So they can't see the panels from the front, but from the side because we're on a corner. They can see one over the garage. I told my husband, "I'm gonna make a little sign to put on both doors that we already have. There's no more room."

    We weren't collecting any solar energy and there was something wrong with our box. To get ahold of anybody at the Sunrun at any level was damn near impossible. Finally, we got ahold of a guy named Darryl and God bless him. He came out and fixed everything for us. The last year that we had them, everything worked good. But when my husband passed away and I tried to get ahold of somebody to cancel his contract, I’d have been better off trying to pull teeth from a horse. He died December 28 and I moved out of the house January 29th. Then on the third week of February, I finally got them to cancel. I love solar but Sunrun is not the company to go with. Their products were great and we leased so we paid $150 a month, which was a fair price. But I would never use Sunrun again.

    Their site is good and relatively simple. I just have not produced as much power. They said I only had one overage in July of last year. It was a hot, sunny summer. My power in the month of July of last year was, $42, which is the basic charge. But my most recent one was 127, which is half of what I would be paying if I didn't have solar. I'm satisfied.

    Updated on 11/17/2025: Ongoing breach of Contract: Sunrun removed panels in 2023 and never restored my roof, causing damage and now risking my home sale. They acknowledged urgency, but have made no contact since 11/13/2025.

    Original Review: BUYER BEWARE!!! I am writing on behalf of my father to formally complain about Sunrun Inc.'s unethical sales practices regarding installing and operating solar panels at my father's residence. In 2019, my father entered into an agreement with Sunrun to install a 15-panel solar system on his home's roof. The monthly payments are $87 + an average of $50 to APS. Due to his recent hospitalization, I took over his financial affairs. Reviewing his bills, I discovered a troubling pattern of zero power delivery from August 2022 to January 2024. In May 2023, my father contacted Sunrun about his solar needs, unaware he was not receiving the power his panels produced. Instead of addressing the issue, Sunrun representatives convinced him to purchase a new seven-panel package for $51 per month.

    When I tried to resolve this with Sunrun, they dismissed my concerns, claiming they could do nothing, and insisted my father remain bound to the solar panel contract for another 21 and 25 years. This conduct is not only deceptive but also financially exploitative, especially given my father's age of 81. The financial impact of Sunrun's actions is significant. Before the new solar package, my father's monthly electric bill was $125. Now, with the new solar panels that were never needed, he pays $188 per month. Even with the additional panels, he still pays APS an average of $50. Sunrun failed to fulfill its obligations under the initial agreement and engaged in deceptive sales practices by upselling additional panels instead of addressing the underlying issue of zero power delivery. Such conduct is unacceptable and warrants immediate investigation and remediation.

    My husband bought a 23 Lightning on 2/17. Sunrun has sent the charger to Texas once or twice. We don't live in Texas. We live in Florida. We cannot get a charger to save our lives. Andrew ** will not return calls or emails and is extremely rude. After I left him the message that I called him out on the Better Business Bureau, he was able to call back to tell my husband, a disabled veteran, that he "will get the tracking number when he decides to ship it out," which will be next week. Andrew has known that the address is wrong for weeks but will not rectify the issue. We have called Sunrun at least 50 times for updates, a tracking number, or anything. I went higher up to Andrew boss, Ganem **, and the same thing. Nothing. He doesn't care.

    My husband is a 100% disabled veteran. It's hard enough to find chargers in Florida but try finding a charger with a handicapped parking area where you can get into wheelchair. I reached out to BBB yesterday, but I thought it might be best that someone higher up at Sunrun can investigate the issue. I would be embarrassed to supply this level of customer service to my customers. PLEASE HELP.

    Sunrun is doing a good job. The installation went smoothly. Every time I call them, they come over and do what they say they would do. Sunrun recently called me and said, "How's everything going? Can I come by to check your battery, check everything is working?" I said, "Of course, come over." They scheduled it today, they were here and did a good job. I didn't even know that backup battery went down. I'm very satisfied. I will recommend Sunrun to my friend. One lady is waiting for her roof to be done and they're gonna get Sunrun.

    It took almost a year to install the panels. They said it was lack of some material or a couple of companies came and they couldn't figure it out and they ran out of material. It took almost eight months when it was okay and then, it took a couple of weeks in order for us to use the system. But right now, everything has been good. I track what I'm producing with the Sunrun app and so far, it’s producing pretty well. Also, the app is pretty simple, which is one of the things I like, and every time I wanna reach them, I reach them really quick in the app.

    ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE COMPANY, completely conned me in a low time of my life. The system doesn't work properly (produce) as it should. I pay double what I paid for energy before I got the system. Now I have to get a lawyer to get out of it, hopefully.
