My sister has a new house and the rate of her power keeps going up, so I decided to look into solar energy services. I liked the Sunrun sales rep the best and I also got a kickback from Costco, so going with them was a win-win. Enrolling with Sunrun was a piece of cake and our experience with them was the easiest project we did on this new house that we got. Overall, I feel great about my decision to go solar.

We dealt directly with Tier One. They're a provider of Sunrun and they were great. When you first start the process, you don't know who to trust or who is good. I felt better once I saw that Sunrun was a bigger company. Everything ran pretty smoothly. We've had solar since March and we're real pleased that our electric bill has gone down tremendously. Although when something in the neighborhood went down, we had no power. We were under the impression that if we have solar, we would still have electricity even when everybody else was down. But overall, we're very happy with Sunrun right now.

My aunt got her solar panel installed and I went with Sunrun because she would get a referral bonus and it was cheaper. I checked so many different solar companies and Sunrun had a better deal. Also, they had a better warranty because it’s Costco. Joseph, the rep who kinda started it all, did a pretty good job at explaining the idea of going solar. He did a presentation on why it made sense and that closed the deal for me. Sunrun's customer service was easy to work with and I was happy. I had smooth interactions with them, and the installation was fast. I have no regrets about going solar although I'm still paying it off and I've been recommending them.

When the sales guy came to our house he really made it sound like we would really be saving a great deal of money on our monthly electric bill. So we bought into the pitch and signed up with them. Since we signed up we have not seen the results that we were guaranteed. With what we are still paying APS each month along with the now 110.00 dollar payment to Sunrun. We are not seeing the savings.

Being environmentally conscious, I looked into getting solar services. I heard that the prices were coming down and that there was a good rebate, and it was a good time to look into it. I have already gone pretty far along with another solar company, but I found out that Sunrun's prices and the Costco rebate were just a better deal. And the salesperson was much more knowledgeable than the other people I've been dealing with. They've also been in business and done a lot of installations, so it gave me the confidence to go with them. During the enrollment, everything was pretty easy with a DocuShare. It was customer-friendly.

I had to get permission from the homeowners association. We had to get the approval from the utility, and the permits from the city. So that took some time, but I was getting a lot of updates from Sunrun. They were pretty good about updating information. The installation went well too. With the way our system was installed, and the way that we chose to have it, you can't see it from the front of the back of the house. So, it's very unobtrusive. We wanna see a full year of bills, so we can really assess the cost-effectiveness of it. We went with the shorter finance term, a 10-year. So, we knew the cost would be a little higher. We're very glad we did it with Sunrun. The product is a good one and I have recommended it to others.

I liked the pricing, how it operated and being green. Melissa was my project coordinator and she was great. She answered my phone call any time of the day. When I had some issues with a town inspector, she was right on it. Overall, it was a good experience and I'm 100% more than satisfied. I needed electricity and wanted to be green, and I was also looking to lower my bill. I called multiple people to find out who I wanted to use and I ended up choosing Sunrun. The only issue that we ever ran into was when the people put the stuff on the roof, they left stuff in my yard, so I ended up calling back and they picked up the remaining stuff. Other than that, everything has been great. The customer service reps that I've called and talked to have all been positive. We ended up getting a bill from our PSE&G saying that we owed around $1,200 because they read the meter wrong and the lady rep stayed on the phone with me for four and a half hours trying to figure out why PSE&G stirred up our whole thing. Another one was Michael, He was great and was very honest with me. I've been satisfied since the installation. My bill is exactly what they told me it would be, so it's all good stuff.

We continue to pour carbon into the atmosphere and we're all gonna pay that price so we felt going solar was the right thing to do. I have a college friend who works for a solar energy company in Southern California who's always singing praises of the technological improvements that have been made. He's too far away for me to talk to him but I knew that California was in the process of passing legislation requiring new homes to have solar systems. I knew that the solar systems had improved a bit so I had somebody come to the house and talk to us.

When the Sunrun sales rep came to our house, he had already done a Google maps search and found our house. He already knew the square footage of the home and the orientation, and he had a rough design of the system. So it was a no-brainier. And when we started talking about his company, he was very willing to give us contact, names of people whom we could call who had Sunrun experiences. He was great. He came back to us with a proposal and I had some questions so he came back to the house again. I had more questions and he came back to the house again. Fortunately, he lives a couple of towns away from where we live, so that worked out really well. He used to stop at the house either on his way to work or on his way home from work. So it was really great. It felt like we were getting hand-holding which is always nice. The questions were answered to our satisfaction.

After that, we had to decide whether to lease the panels through Sunrun or purchase it. We decided to purchase it given a shorter payback period. Fortunately, we had the money to do that. The sales rep explained the federal tax credit so I understood how that worked. Unfortunately, we're in New Hampshire where there's no personal income tax and no sales tax so New Hampshire is always broke. There was a state tax credit but they ran out of money so we lost out on that. That would have been a couple thousand dollars which would have been nice. But that wasn't a deal breaker. We called in through Comcast. Comcast had a deal where they provided us with a $600 prepaid debit card which was nice. So, we took advantage of everything and my wife and I both understood exactly what we were getting into.

After that, the sales rep quickly handed our account off to a project manager and they were handling all the paperwork such as the permits for the town that we live in, the contact with our utility to get the utility to do the hook up then the conversion of the net-zero meter, and the scheduling of the installation of the system. Everybody at Sunrun was really very communicative about what was happening and where things stood. I was always up-to-date. Everything that was happening was exactly what the sales rep told us was going to happen. The process affirmed what we anticipated and we came to expect that things were just going to continue running smoothly, which they did. Sunrun had also warned us that getting the utility to switch over the meter could sometimes take weeks, if not, a month or more. But in the end, it was just a couple of weeks so we were up and running two or three weeks sooner than I anticipated.

When we got our first month electric bill for my utility, just based on the dates and the way the system was tied up and connected to the utility grid, it wasn't a full month, but our electricity bill dropped from roughly $150 a month during the summer time to 35 bucks. That was the partial month. When we got our first full month of generating electricity bill from the utility, it was $13. And when we got our second bill a week and a half ago, it was $12.98 and that amount is the utility charge to be connected to the grid. So we're not paying anything for electricity.

All of our electricity is being generated plus we're now banking credits. In New Hampshire, whatever excess we generate goes back out to the street. And as the meter turns backwards, we're actually generating credits with the utility. Right now, we have about a month and a half worth of credits stored up right and those credits will be used when we get into December, January, February, March because we have long winters in New Hampshire. We know that the system won't generate as much then as it does in these summer months but those credits that we're banking will help defray the larger utility bills during the winter months. Overall, we're very pleased with our decision to go solar. My family is blessed that we can afford to do this.

Our electricity in California is going through the roof. I had several estimates before for solar services, but when I spoke with Sunrun's rep Harrison, I had a better feeling about Sunrun. Also, knowing that they have Costco behind them, I felt pretty good. Everything went great with the enrollment process. It took a couple of weeks and it was easy. I've worked with Harrison a lot and he was always really gracious to either call me or text me when I had questions.

The installation was really fast. I know several people on the street who had solar put in and it took them a week. They had guys who kind of took their sweet time to do something which shouldn't take very long to do. But with Sunrun's installers, they were here way past dark and were sweet enough to actually just persevere, push through it and complete the job. They were also super good. They cleaned everything up and when they had a problem with my electrical panels, they were able to fix it and get it all taken care of.

So far, going solar has been good. I just had a few questions. It was a solid month where our temperatures were over 100 so it was a perfect timing that we turned our solar on. We also had a major heat wave, so from June 5th until a couple of weeks ago, I was running my air constantly. Then when I got a few of my gas electric bills, I wasn't really sure why it said what it said. The meter wasn't running backwards as well. I didn't like that as it was the peak of the day. Other than that, I have recommended Sunrun to many, many people.

From what I can see, I definitely need another 10 panels. My hose is a little over 2200 Sq. feet. Also, no one in the office can tell me how much electricity each panel should produce. On the longest brightest days it looks like just 2 KW per day but I have seen companies that sell panels state that their panels produce 3.3 KW in a day. My APS bills are still very high, which means my system is very underpowered.

I'm currently in escrow with a home who has a solar agreement with Sunrun. I received their agreement so we could start the transfer process and saw that the agreement that the sellers made with Sunrun was absolutely not a deal at all. They are paying more than what Edison charges for a kWh. My sisters both have a deal with Sunrun and were paying a set rate of $0.17 per kWh which is a great deal. The agreement that the sellers are paying is currently $0.24 per kWh and it increases by 2.9% each year ending at $0.41 per kWh at the 20th year.

I spoke to the Service Transfer Coordinator who was very nice and professional and the only thing that she could offer is if I pay prepay almost $10,000, then I could lower it to $0.17 per kWH!!! That is absolutely not an option, but she is stating that is the only thing she can do for me. This is possibly going to cause a home to fall out of escrow because I would be paying more for the solar panels than I would be if I didn't have any. I even told her that my in-laws were going to get a Sunrun Solar agreement and it would be way lower than this one. My in-laws are now refusing to use them due to this their inability to renegotiate an agreement that was not signed by me in the first place. I'm just so shocked that someone even agreed to this agreement in the first place. I asked to speak to a supervisor who will hopefully have better news for me. The only positive thing was that the service transfer coordinator has been very kind and professional.

I went to a vendor fair and SolarCity was there. I asked them to give me a quote, so they did. At the time, I wanted to get three competitive bids, so I went on the internet and responded to something suggesting that I was looking into solar. Then I got some calls from solar companies, Sunrun being one of them. Their rep asked me how much my bill was and I told him. However, he said they couldn't do anything for me because I didn’t spend enough to warrant solar. Still, I told him to give me a bid anyway so I could be sure that I was getting a good deal from SolarCity which I chose because of the Tesla brand that I respect. But then, this Sunrun guy spent about an hour with me on the phone and he gave a lot of education. He taught me how to read my electric bill and we went over all of that. Also, he told me that Sunrun works through Costco, which impressed me because I trust Costco.

The Sunrun rep was so patient and very informative. He did a much better job of educating me about the whole solar process and ended up giving me a quote for the minimum size that they could quote, which is 10 panels. It was only $700 more than SolarCity's but it was larger because SolarCity did a smaller system. So I told him that I would go with Sunrun because I trust Costco over Tesla. Also, I didn’t mind buying more than I needed because I’m hoping my next car would be electric, so I’ll probably need more panels.

I've been going solar since mid-June when it went live. The Sunrun team is very professional and they keep you informed. They’ll keep in touch with you every step of the way, letting you know what’s going on. They were good at predicting how long the process would take because it does take a lot longer. Most people don’t realize that solar is not something you just buy and it happens overnight. They have to get permits and then the city’s PG&E has to come out and inspect it. Also, the city has to inspect it as well before you go live.

There was one guy that irritated me though. He was the one who came out and inspected my house to measure, to make sure the roof was okay for solar. I hope I don't sound prejudicial, but he was Filipino. I asked him to go up by a ladder through the hole in the garage to get to the roof but he insisted that he would go through this crawlspace in my hallway that had never been opened. Also, I didn’t want him to go there because there was another access point. Still, he acted like he knew better than me and he was not gonna take directions from some ** female. There was insulation above that thing so I asked him when he came down if he put it back the way it was, which he couldn’t possibly do because once he put the wood down, he couldn’t lay that to make sure that it was flat and covering everything properly. He said yes but after he left, I noticed that the wood wasn’t even flat. It wasn’t correct.

I talked to the next two people who came and to everybody. I expected them to deal with this man and tell him, “I’m the customer. You listen to the customer. Also, give your guy some training.” The reps both promised they would. I could tell they followed up because they had it in their notes. The next person that came, someone I've never met before, asked to look at the site. So I knew that the word was passed along and that they were going to make right for what this guy did. That was good.

I went to the climate change rally in San Francisco on Saturday and I felt good that if anybody would ask, I could say I went solar because it’s the right thing to do. It wasn't about the need to save money because my electric bill was $38. I looked at the history in the app to see how much I’m spending or saving, and it has only been four days since it went live but I’ve used more than I sent to the grid. I pretty much send electricity to the grid every day, although it could change in the winter. I bank my extra energy for a time when I might need some. Overall, going solar has been great.

We have experienced numerous disappointments while dealing with this company. June of 2017 a sales rep from Sunrun came to our door. We were informed incorrectly by our sales agent regarding the contract and what in entailed. The day Sunrun came to our residence, we explained that we were probably not good candidates because we were selling the house within the next two years. This was explained to your representatives at our residence. We were then told by your sales team “That will not be your problem, we take care of everything and transfer services out of your name at the time of sale”. Unfortunately, we later found out this was not the case. The sales representative neglected to tell us that regardless we would be responsible for 20 years and that the buyer would have to qualify and agree to all the terms of the contract. My husband was also told that this would be a great selling point for our house.

This is also untrue considering all the news stories and blogs showing the numerous problems and issues with the 20 year lease, the nightmare of dealing with your company to transfer services, and the ongoing legal issues with SC and getting approved inverters for the service to even work. To be honest, I never probably would have looked into and read into detail about the issues with your company had the service been started in the timeline they gave. Unfortunately, after 6 months of numerous excuses and emails from Kristopher **, we began to look deeply into your service and read the contract word for word, and to be honest we would never have probably done this had everything went smoothly. Once 6 months had passed with the numerous excuses from your representative Kristopher ** that I began to lose complete and total faith in your company and representation.

I was also told there were about 60 contracts in our area a few in my neighborhood alone that they installed equipment and the inverters which were not approved by our county and as of January when we checked were still not approved and had not heard from Sunrun on a resolution. From that point I began trying to work out a resolution with Sunrun to remove the solar panels from my residence. We have talked to several representatives with your company.

However, two of them have tried their best to get your legal team to see these issues we have had to no avail. I have talked to several representatives and to be honest your company has basically made your bad business the customers' fault. Now OVER a year later and several problems they are sending us a breach of contract in the tune of approx 22,000 for a service that was never started due to their own error. BEWARE OF DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!

I was wondering what solar was and I wanted to see what was going on. I was ready to push in and a kid came door-to-door and talked to me and pushed me into Sunrun. The signup process was not that easy because of all the paperwork. Still, the people were very helpful and everybody was responsive. Currently, I don’t have solar, but I pay Sunrun instead of paying my local electric company, and it kinda comes close to even. The only thing I regret is when there is no electricity and the sun is up there. It will be nice if I have an option to use my electricity and not turn it off. That would be big if there was a switch to manually turn it on and disconnects you from the network completely, and the solar starts going directly to your house. Also, we can’t send out when the lines are down. Beyond that however, it's seamless and it's the way it’s supposed to be.

The people don’t give you all the information because they’re afraid they’re gonna lose the deal. So they give you only the good news, no bad news like how long it takes. It took almost a month longer than what they said it would be. If we had issues, the communication between the power company wasn’t that great. They were supposed to cut off to switch the meter, but nothing happened. One day, I found out that somebody came in and changed the meter, and nobody knew about it. The meter was changed, but the process was still going through. When the people came in, they made the plans and they talked about it. The last time they came in, they said they wanted to do it differently. I asked why and I said that I would like to see the plan at the beginning done that way. It was like I had four roofs. I’m in a split, so we had to put them and they gave me all the pitches for the second one. When it was all done, it was like the first one.

Many people talk differently the way Sunrun's people are talking to contractors to put them up and the way they brought the wires down. They went from the roof, into my roof, from the top, and right out. If they did it one inch outside, they didn’t have to ruin my roof and it could have been a lot smoother. Otherwise, they did a very good job.

I regret making the decision on selecting Sunrun. They gave a lot of promises before signing the contract. After the contract is signed, the sales rep pretty much hands off. And the customer service is not helpful at all. I am on my own trying to resolve the issue. Moreover, just on the financing side is a huge mess. I made a big downpayment, informing Sunrun to send to their partner company Loanpal. They not only took their time refuse to send my downpayment to Loanpal and in the end still not getting it resolved. I've been call, sending emails, making all kinds of effort trying to get it resolved. It has been 2 months and it is still pending. It should not have been an issue with any regular company.

Also, they took the PG&E rebate incentive even though I'm going through the purchase option. I was told they gave me a better pricing. However, the sales rep never shown me the difference on the pricing. I don't think this is even legal. I would avoid having anything to do with Sunrun based on the nightmare that I'm still going through with them.

So, the guy from Sunrun that I ended up signing with explained what I needed to know and I wasn't disappointed. Enrolling with Sunrun was easy. The only thing was my roof got blown off and they had to take it all down and then put it back up again. That cost me a grand. I wasn't happy about that. Other than that, since I have gone solar, I've noticed a difference in my bills every month. Not so much in the winter, but definitely in the summer which is enough to cover the cost of the solar, but it hasn't made a whole lot of money yet. But in the future, I expect it might because of the fact that energy is gonna keep going up.

The Federal rebates are gonna be running out, or phased out after this year. I went with Sunrun, but I have battery issues and the load shift doesn't seem to be set right. And I have an ongoing problem with them, not responding. I'm getting the Sunrun-around, between the salesman that sold it to me, and then Sunrun. They were also supposed to get back to me and to get me in touch with the battery specialist, and then, they were supposed to do this and that, but I still haven't got any information on any of that. It's been about six weeks that I've been trying.

It's kind of a daily monitoring process to go out and see what the batteries have done and whether they've been backed up right. I thought they would take care of everything after I signed the deal. I've had to monitor things myself, identify the problems, rather than them, coming to me with the problems and how they're gonna fix them. I'm still not sure whether Sunrun or SolarEdge is responsible for the battery issues. I'm not sure who does what. If SolarEdge gets the data, Sunrun engineers are supposed to be analyzing it to see if it's right and everything is dialed in correctly. I'm confused about that whole thing. However, during the enrollment process with Sunrun, it went okay and it was easy.

I got a mailer that said if I sat down with them for a presentation and if I signed up, I would get an iPad. But I never got that. So that was the only bummer thing about it. I called at least once a month for three months. They said they would mail it but it never happened. I was really bugged out about it. After several months, I gave up and stopped.

That aside, the enrollment process was easy and nice. I sat down with the representative and signed up. They had great customer service throughout the process. Sunrun itself was great. The solar was installed and I like it. I check my wattage everyday and I usually average 20 to 26 kilowatts a day produced from the solar so it seems like it’s doing good. It’s producing almost 700 kilowatts a month. When I did my homework, I use 7,006 kilowatts in one year. So I’m trying to be more conservative with the power inside the house. But it's working and I'd recommend Sunrun.

About a month ago I called Sunrun to have someone come out to look at my ceiling to verify if the leak was caused by the panel installation. They sent someone that did not have any equipment to do an actual check. The technician told me that I had to open the ceiling myself and once I find the leak to call them so they can verify it. So I opened up the ceiling myself and the next day it rained and I found the leak. I called them again, and they said they would have a technician call me to schedule an appointment, that was about A month ago.

It’s now August 27th and I still have a big hole in my ceiling. I have been calling 1-3 times a week to have some come just look at the hole in my open ceiling to view this hole in the roof. They keep saying that it’s an issue that they have fixed and that I will get a call in 24-48hrs for an appointment. I don’t know what to do. I have the warranty, but they will not fix it if they don’t verify, and they can’t verify if they don’t send a technician. At this point, I might just call someone else to fix the leak and my ceiling, and just call it a lost cause. I’m very frustrated with Sunrun.

We saw Sunrun at Costco. Their rep, AJ, came out, gave us the information on how it would go and I thought it was a good idea. The financing was not going to cost anything more than the monthly bill averages out to, so it was a very easy decision. My wife did some research and found out that Sunrun had a very good reputation for doing good installation. So, we went with them. Also, the customer service was great. They scheduled things out, but there were a couple of little delays along the way. Schedules didn't always work out exactly the way they initially planned, but they communicated well and they definitely kept me up-to-date.

They first inspected the roof and made certain that the initial plan that they had done just from the aerial images was actually doable. Once they confirmed that, we all decided on the plan, and they scheduled the roof inspection where they came and made certain that the roof was good enough. They wouldn't have to do any repair works so there'd be no leaks, because they guarantee it for 10 years. The roof underlayment didn't need to be replaced in that section. Then, they came and installed the panels. We simply waited on Edison, the electric company, to give us permission to operate, which took about the time period that they said it would.

On the other hand, it's a peculiar the way Edison is choosing to do the billing. We have a very small monthly bill and an accruing negative balance. Why don't they simply go ahead and balance that out? Other than that, during the day when the AC is running, we're also generating a lot of electricity. The net effect has been my bill was reduced to about 1/10 of what it had been before and the net effect is we're ahead now, but that may change going into the winter when the days are shorter. Sunrun pretty much takes care of everything and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. If I were doing it again, I would do exactly the same thing.

I saw that Home Depot and Costco had a Sunrun representative. I haven't heard of them before but after further research, I realized that they're one of the biggest solar energy companies. I've been interested for quite a while to get solar but I wasn't sure who I wanted to go through. I was very curious. We have multiple plug-in cars since 2013 and since then, I've been more aware of how much electric we consume. Also, my wife has a Volt and my daughter who lives upstairs has one too.

Enrolling with Sunrun was pretty efficient and smooth. There was not very much effort on my part, other than signing my name on the dotted line. However, I was a little drawn up, but I understood there were lots of regulatory things to go through with the local utility. It took a while to get done but once it was actually installed, I was pretty happy with how quickly it was done, and that it was up and running. I was also very happy with the supervisor who oversaw the installation. He had really good communication in answering any questions I had.

My utility was extremely helpful. However, I don't know if there are some limitations about what the provider could tell about the utility company, or recommendations. They had a very specific number to talk to with my utility and specific options available that not a lot of people knew about. But they never reached out to me about doing time of use. It was something I had to do a research on and ask about. But the biggest hiccup with them was the disconnect between the local people and the corporate office. I have local engagement, which to me is way more important than anything else. Sunrun should have more ownership on their corporate side and a lot more dialogue should happen as far as what the companies are doing or what their expectations are.

But overall, I'm very happy with Sunrun and I expect the payoff to be fairly quick. 10 years would be the ceiling for me. But when I did calculations on what we were consuming and saving, I found out that we were about in the eight-year range. I would definitely recommend Sunrun to anyone who's getting solar so they'd to know all their options.

We moved to a new house and the cost was so high from the previous energy provider. The electricity price keeps going up every year, so my wife said that we go solar. I regularly shop at Costco and I see Sunrun all the time at the entrance. The Sunrun reps came to our house and they explained the different plans that they have and the financial estimate. They looked at the roof and explained to us whatever we might need for our house. We signed the MOU or something about the price of the panels that was going to go up. Everything was very good particularly the price. After we signed an MOU, the technicians came to check out the roof if it was up to par for the solar panel. They let us know some of the issues that the roof has, so we had to take care of that. Then, the solar installers came and installed the solar panels.

The enrollment process with Sunrun wasn’t difficult. There was a time that we had to wait for things to get done, but we didn’t have to do anything in a way, just a little signing of papers. So far, I am satisfied with my decision to go solar. We are saving money, although not necessarily a large amount, and we’ll see how the payment changes in about two years. Right now, we only pay the interest in the solar panels and we are saving about $38 off of the electricity bill. It also increased energy, so that makes it a little better. I have friends that have Sunrun before I had started with them and they mentioned that it’s the best. That’s why I went with Sunrun and it was easier for me. I’ll do the same thing to other people.

They were very professional and informative with no pressure. They gave me the price I was looking for and we had a deal. I was getting my electric bills about 550 the month before, and it dropped down to 200 and ended up down to less than $25. But I got my bill today and it’s back up to about 331, and I don’t know if that’s on my end or not. Still, I would tell others of my experience and give my number to call, and I have done that to several people already.

Going solar is a good idea and we considered Sunrun, SolarMax and Solaris. It was very close. What tipped it was that Costco was behind Sunrun. We felt that they wouldn’t back Sunrun unless they were a solid company. Plus, we had a corporate membership so we got some money back on that. But it seems like they don’t have their finances or their finance situation in line.

We wanted to put $5,000 down but they said that we had to be 18 months in then we could put $5,000 down. We didn’t understand why unless they wanted the extra credit for the interest charges. It made no sense to us. On any transaction, be it a car or a house, they can take a down payment and it reduces the principal. But the people at Sunrun didn’t understand how to do that and they didn’t know how they could get it done. They didn't understand the simplest mathematical equations of putting down a down payment. That was the most irritating thing. If we had known that at the beginning, we wouldn’t have gone with them. At that point, they had already put some stuff on the roof so we were locked into the process. So it ended up that we would wait until halfway into the 18 months and pay the extra interest on that. We were really upset about it.

When I was tired of paying the high-priced APS, Sunrun had the best opportunity and sales pitch. However, their system crashed the first week the panels were up and it took them two and a half weeks to get out there to fix it. For a company that's getting big in Arizona and for the number of panels they have up right now, they don't have enough technicians in the area to do service. Although the compensation for the system being down that they gave me was not adequate enough, I had no choice but to take it 'cause that was all they were offering. Otherwise, I am satisfied with them. I also liked that they're tied in with Costco so they gave me a good incentive for being with Costco. I'd recommend them.

A Sunrun sales rep showed up at our front door one day when I was at work, and my wife thought it was valid enough to have them come back. They did, and since then, we had the solar panels installed and we’ve been happy with it ever since. We had contacted three other companies here in Las Vegas and talked with them, a couple of which happened to be when we were in the bankruptcy, so they didn’t wanna talk to us. And then, we were working through one sales rep with another company. Evidently, they couldn’t find time to meet with us. So, when Sunrun showed up, we went with them. Everything worked out really well as far as I was concerned. Any time we had questions and we called, they were timely with the correct answers.

Also, the installation went a heck of a lot better than I had anticipated. One of their installers had stopped by the house one afternoon and asked me if they could just go ahead and store supplies in our garage prior to the installation. I told him that it was fine. So, we left both cars out. The day before the official installation, they had put the rails on the roof. So, that made it so much easier for them the next day to get things laid out in place. They had given us a time frame of three days for installation, and they were done in a day. The only thing was the electrician had to come out two days later and finish something on the panels from the back of the house, and that was a few more hours for him. And we got more solar panels than they’re used to installing, too. They said ours was about the second biggest project they had ever handled.

I like that with going solar, we’ve gotten away from having to pay NV Energy and we’re using the power of the sun. I keep telling the guys I work with that if they ever want to check out solar, they should check with Sunrun because three of the others didn’t offer the same process and program. Also, if they’re gonna take me up on it, I'll get $350 for a referral.

Their guys did the installation on a Saturday and worked around our schedule. It was a big crew of people. They came in, did the job and were gone in a few hours. We’ve enjoyed having the Sunrun equipment, which is on the back side so they don’t distract the house. Since going solar, our electric bill has gone down considerably. Although it's not winter months yet, I suspect the electric bill would go up as there's not as much sunlight during that time.

We have a Costco membership and Sunrun have salespeople there in Costco. We happened to walk by and I grabbed a little information handout. Enrolling with them was easy. We were quoted a three or four-month timeline from start to finish, but we were done in two months. The installation went excellently. It was done within a day, although there was one small little hiccup, a caveat that they should have mentioned from the beginning. The installation team needed access to power, but the power to the house had to be turned off in order to install the solar.

The installation team that came out needed to charge their backup battery packs. Luckily for me, my neighbor across the street was very kind and willing to give us her outlet for them to charge their batteries. Customer service has been really good. They have always been quick, prompt, courteous and they don’t hesitate to follow up. We've had a couple of small issues with our battery because of newer technology. They can observe the battery remotely and there were some slight technical issues. I would recommend Sunrun in a heartbeat. In fact, a good friend was looking to get solar and I said they had to go with Sunrun through Costco.

The sales rep came over twice and as far as expertise and professionalism, she was really good. I feel good about harvesting sun energy although I feel stressed about having to pay the bill. I'm still monitoring and I won't know if Sunrun is meeting their commitment until the end of the year because it's based on a yearly total amount of energy they guarantee to produce. The cost and the environment made me look into solar energy services and my neighbors who had recently purchased theirs or leased theirs recommended Sunrun. Enrolling with Sunrun was easy. Travis came out and he wound up coming out twice because we couldn’t make up our mind. He was a good salesman. We had it installed since April or May, but, all of a sudden, I started getting very big bills. I went out of the country and Joe, the guy who was supposed to be monitoring everything, had left two phone calls. When I got back from Europe, I called him back a couple of times because my bills were around $180, and this month, it was $200 and something. He stated that he noticed there was something wrong, but he never got back to me. I noticed it and their side was supposed to be monitoring it, but it took them two months to catch it. I’m still waiting and hoping that I’m going to get a nice refund because it wasn’t working properly.

Finally, I had to call Travis and he had Taylor call me, and the guy came out. It’s a brand new system and we’re still waiting for a part. For the last two months, I’ve had very high electric bills and now, I'm still waiting for it to be fixed. While everybody has been very pleasant to deal with at Sunrun, I am dissatisfied with the experience as a whole. Hopefully, that will change when the part comes in.

We were skeptical about solar to being with but our sales guy was fantastic. He answered all our questions and was very knowledgeable and he even got us a rebate-he worked for a third party sales company. Our contact going the process was amazing, always calling/emailing and checking in or giving updates-she didn’t work for Sunrun either. The company that installed our panels was awesome! They were very nice and explained how the system worked. Again, third party company did the install. First day my panels got turned on I was told “congrats and a month from now you’ll start paying the payments on the panels”. That same day my panels weren’t working. Not all the panels were working 23/29 and then there was an error message showing. I called Sunrun, waited on hold for 35 mins and they told me to restart the system, while I was restarting it I got disconnected - they didn’t even try calling me back.

So I call them back, wait another HOUR, go through the same thing I told them I had already restarted it and the error message wasn’t going away and there were less and less panels connecting. They wanted me to restart it again! I told them I just want someone to come look at them, they said, "Well let’s try troubleshooting first," then I got disconnected again with again no callback. I tried calling back again and they were closed for the day. So I ended up calling the company who installed my system, they were closed. I left a message for the on-call person. Within 10 minutes I received a call back and he told me that the error message was something internal and I needed to get someone out there and he would do it but he needed prior approval from Sunrun. I had to turn the system off for the time being.

A day later I looked and our system was turned on and seemed to be working so I figured someone came out. So I let it go and just out of curiosity (5 days later) I looked at my production report for the week. I had production on that one day then nothing the rest of the week. I go outside and the system is on but not producing and the panels are not all connected. Of course it’s the weekend so Sunrun customer service isn’t open and at this point I don’t even want to call them.

I’m so frustrated. I have had my solar panels officially “turned on” for over a week now and I have barely gotten one day worth of production. So now I’m paying for both the panels and my electric company bill and my panels aren’t even working. I’m dreading my electric bill this month and with it my Sunrun payment. I can’t afford both of them. The customer service sucks. Up until we got our system turned on all the other companies we worked with were fantastic, Sunrun terrible.

We had seen Sunrun's trucks running around our neighborhood and one of their salesmen stopped by our house to talk to us. After he talked to us a bit, he made Sunrun sound so good that it was hard to refuse. My wife just retired and I’m gonna be retiring in the next three or four years, so we were looking at ways to try to save money as we go into retirement because you don't have quite as much after you retire as you do while you’re working. We were looking for some ways to save a little. The enrollment process was simple. We had to do a few things, but the rep did all the paperwork. From the get-go, the customer service was perfect. Anytime I called and asked a question, I got an answer, and if I needed somebody there, they sent somebody out. The installation was wonderful and they did anything they could do for us. However, after I flipped the switch and turned the system on, it all changed.

On the first month that I had it on, I got my power bill and it was a little lower than I thought. I paid it like there was nothing about it. The next month, I got a power bill and I wondered why I was gonna pay anything if we didn’t use that much power. I called Sunrun and they kept battling back and forth. I told them that I was not getting really happy about it and I tried to get some explanation. The lady at Sunrun told me to give it another month and see what happens. I gave it another month, but the power bill went up even more. I’m paying Sunrun $57 a month. It’s constant and stays good throughout the year. I’m also paying whatever power I use off of the grid that I can’t cover with my panel. I was not covering near my power bill like I should be and I got a power bill of $58. When you add the two of them together, I’m paying as much as I was paying before I went on Sunrun, so I’m not saving any money.

I called them up and I asked some explicit questions as to how much power I made from one given date to another where the power bill was. They said, “You made this much.” I asked, “How come the power’s only showing this much?” I called Duke Power and they said that I used this much and they didn’t show that. I called Sunrun back and asked if they thought we needed to add some panels. They said no and that we are at 98%. I said I was not. If I was at 98%, then I would be paying but $2 or $3 to Duke Power. I got so mad at them and I said that I’m gonna shut up and I won't be calling anybody else.

At the end of the year, April of 2019, we’re gonna look at how much I paid Duke Power and how much I made and see if I gained anything. If I didn’t gain anything, then we’re gonna have to come in and put some more panels on this house or replace the whole system out. I'm not saving any money and it’s not worth it. Sunrun is a good company until you get to deal with them on the back of it. During the installation and sales, they were wonderful, but after that, they were the worst company I ever dealt with.

    Hello Sumner,

I am a Customer Care Specialist at Sunrun and am following up regarding the feedback you provided.

I understand how frustrating it can be to not have a clear understanding of your solar system and the way solar works. You utility company will never see the full production of your system because during the day when the sun is out, everything you produce goes directly into your home. The only production that they see is your extra production that you do not use during the day. We are very confident that you will produce what your agreement guarantees. If you do not, then we reimburse you the difference per kwh on your anniversary. Please make sure you are not using more than you normally would now that you have solar. Your system was built on your usage prior to having solar. If you are using more than that, then that could be another reason why you are not seeing the savings you would like. Please feel free to contact me anytime regarding your solar concerns.

The only stumble was the last job for my mother-in-law's place, but Sunrun came and stepped up as far as the financial side of it. They put in a whole new box and redid three quarters of the roof for a total of five grand which would normally have been about $15,000. They had a little deal at the end where they didn’t coordinate too well but they took care of that within two days and all the installations were very nicely done as if it was their own home. I was looking for a solar energy service and I had several proposals but Sunrun had better reviews than Tesla and Vivint. The enrollment was seamless and everything was very nice, including the installation. I watched the production everyday and I called them because the system was producing less kilowatts. The person was very nice, but then nothing happened so I called again four days later and still nothing happened. Then I got an email that said that my system was fine and not to call them again. But overall, I was satisfied.

I was hoping to lower my electricity payments and having solar energy services seem to be what everybody is doing today. I ran into one of the sales representatives of Sunrun at Home Depot and he gave me a quote and I called in. Enrolling with Sunrun was awesome. One of the representatives, Emily, kept me abreast of everything that was going on and if there were any changes, new addition or new deletion. Also, the guy who they sent out was very professional and did a great job. The whole process was easy and I've had great interactions with their customer service team. I have had solar on my roof for only about 6 months. I have to say this is the worst choice I have ever made. I am actually paying more for my solar than what I was paying for just my electric bill. I have called Sunrun every month and first of all they can't find my account as they have a different zip code than what mine is. No one knows how to change it to the correct one. Now to my bill before I got my panels the sales team came to the house and looked at my previous electric bills and give me an estimate on what my cost would be. I advised them that living alone in a fairly large house I would keep my thermostat at approximately 78-81 in the summer months which is a little on the warm side in Arizona.

I told them that I was getting married and there would be three others moving into the house soon and that my wife and I wanted to keep the house around 75 degrees. I was told no problem that the panels produce more than enough electric. Well this is not the case. They base my cost on budget billing which I have never used. And like I have said between what Sunrun is charging and the regular electric bill I am paying 40-50 dollars more per month. I called them and ask why do I have this if I am paying more. Their answer is, "We understand and will look into it and get back to you." But never a returned call.

I could set my thermostat at 80 plus and get some relief from the bill but that's not what the company promised. They said I could set it lower and still save money. Not looking for a zero bill just some sort of savings. Sunrun preached about customer service but as soon as things were installed it all went away. Stay away from the company as you too could see your electric bill go up instead of down. All I want is for them to make it right.

I did some shopping around and went to a couple of different people. I also listen to Bill Handle and on that station, I heard a Solarmax commercial. I had different people come over and the Solarmax rep that came out was a little more knowledgeable than anybody else. Everybody else who came out did a diagram of the panels on the roof and said, “This is the best location.” But when the Solarmax guy came out, he got a satellite view of my house and told me the longitude and latitude of where I’m at and where I’m gonna get the most sun. I thought to myself that someone did some research because it was the opposite way of what everybody else was trying to sell, and the way the others were advertising was a farce. I wanted to go with Tesla because I liked the theory behind all of its technology, but I liked Solarmax and they had a better rep come out than anybody else.

Sunrun monitors my solar panels all the time, so if there’s ever any issues, they do a call-up and come out and take care of the issue. Their communication is really good. I also like the fact that I live in Riverside County and everything is made here and sold here, and everything is taken care of right here in this area, instead of dealing with somebody two states over. The installation process went great. The guys were quick and very clean. I’m really happy with what I have. I’ve been running my air conditioner 24/7 and normally, my bill would be over $300, but now, I’m on a fixed rate, so I can run it day and night and know what my electric bill is gonna be. I’m happy with Sunrun. I’ve already told other people about it and one guy bought it.

I wanted to save energy and save on my bill. I did a research online, but because I'm a Costco member, it made more sense to go with Sunrun. I listened to the presentation and it made it easier for me to decide on going solar. The enrollment process was easy, and both Sunrun and Edison were communicating with one another and Sunrun pretty much did all the paperwork. However, I felt there was a gap. I was left alone, especially in the middle when it was like the waiting game. I also didn’t like that I was the one reaching out. Nobody was contacting me, so I had no idea where we were in the process. Somebody would simply come to my house, and I wouldn’t get phone calls, so I didn’t know what they were doing or who were those people turning up to my house. I should've gotten phone calls from them about what the next steps would be and how long it would take.

In addition, I have had several extensive communications but nobody has explained to me what happens now between myself and Edison. No one from Sunrun helped me and told me, “Once you go solar, Edison should be sending you like checks.” Edison keeps on sending me my monthly bills where I'm negative -$15, -$10, but I haven't received the money. Right now, I have no idea what Edison is supposed to be doing. I feel like they have my money right now. Other than that, it was a good experience overall. Knowing that I have solar panels makes me feel a little bit more at ease and I have noticed a difference in my bills as well. It's a good choice to go solar.

I had solar energy service before on another property that I owned and it was a very good way to go. I did some research into solar products and called a couple of companies to try to figure out which one was gonna be the best. I had eight vendors come in and the pricing of Sunrun and the prior history of what other people have said about them made me decide to work with them. Having a company that was established meant a whole lot because when I initially had solar energy service 20 years ago, that company changed hands five times. Overall, my enrollment experience with Sunrun was very good. They were very professional and everything went well, except for when they had some penetration on the roof, but they fixed that. The interactions that I've had with the customer service team have been excellent any time.

I wanted to be able to reduce our energy bill and since the installation of our solar system we've never had a tremendous energy bill. Where I live in El Cerrito, we go through power outages on a regular basis. But as a result of Sunrun, we have a backup battery. Although we still have power outages now, we have power every time. The ease of knowing that I would have power when the grid goes down means a whole lot. I was so impressed with it that I referred some other people to Sunrun and now they're with this company too. Sunrun has done very well and we're very satisfied with our decision to go solar.

One of my neighbors and a friend recommended Sunrun. The manager had a rep come by, and I talked to several other people here in the subdivision. I liked the information, and we're locked in at 15 1/2 or 15 cents a kilowatt for 20 years. I had a pretty good experience when I enrolled with Sunrun. It was an easy process. I also liked the fact that there was no outlay of cash. I do none on the system, any of it generated goes to the grid, not to my house. It's not ugly on the side of the house where this is all mounted. During the installation, they broke two tiles, told me about it, came back and repaired it. They picked up their mess and did a heck of a job.

Sunrun's customer service team was very good. Their rep kept me informed of everything all the way through it. I was told about a $10 fee every month, but it turned out to be closer to $20. They were not upfront with that. Also, there's the hassle on referral fees. I'm still waiting on one that I processed two weeks ago. Sunrun should also put on better panels. One of the referrals that I set up, ended up going through a different company and the panels were probably better. And I like the other company's website better. It shows what they would've paid and shows what they paid, and the website was a little bit easy to maneuver. Sunrun needs to work on their website a little bit.

Our power company charge a lot so we looked at a couple solar services. I had three different estimates and they were reasonably closed. Through people that my wife and I worked with that had gone solar, Sunrun seemed to be the top runner with them. So, we went with them and we were very satisfied with our decision. Our electric bill prior to going solar were averaging $320 a month year-round. Now, we pay our power company with $12.95 a month. We took a loan out on the solar and the payment on it is $2.12. So, it’s still way under what my power bill was. So far, we’ve been on the line for two and a half months and our power company owe us $216 when we checked our bill the other night. We generated more than we’ve used.

Enrollment was as easy as anything I’ve ever done. The sales rep was really nice and then they sent an engineer to come out to do the design. There was some phone interaction with their people as far as the progress as we went along, which was good. I felt really informed. We took off for a period of time and we’re in Florida, and we were still able to keep in touch with what was going on via email and phone calls. So, it was a very good experience. We had a fault while we were in Washington and we got an email saying that there was something wrong with the system and that they would be contacting us, which they did almost immediately and set up a day to come out. They found out that the fault was a surge from our power company while we were gone. I have battery back-ups too. So, it did some kind of a deal which they had to reset and I was still generating.

Electricity is so expensive in Hawaii and we decided it's sunny here a lot, so solar energy services made sense. I was trying to find a company that did solar since we are in Hawaii, and I found Sunrun online. I did a bit of research and found that they had better overall approval ratings from their customers when I did reviews. Enrolling with Sunrun was simple and the process went smoothly. The reps were good one time we called customer service about turning the system on.

At this point in time, since going solar we're saving about $50 a month. It may not seem like a lot of money, but when you put over a span of a year, it's a decent amount of 600 bucks, so we're happy. There was no out-of-pocket charge for us either. Other companies wanted us to pay $20,000 down, but I didn’t wanna do that. Sunrun's program allowed us not to pay anything down for installation. Sunrun put it in and they maintain it. We don’t get as much of a discount on the electric as we would if we owned it, but for us, it made more sense to do it this way. It's definitely worth it, especially if you aren’t happy with your current electric bill.

We were working with a different solar company, but our township grid was closed when we went through the final process, so we were shut down for almost a year. When the grid finally opened up and I contacted that company again to move forward, they were no longer going residential. So, I started researching other companies and Sunrun popped up. The enrollment process with Sunrun was fantastic. It was fast and efficient, and the service reps were easy. Matt, our service guy, came out and went through the process.

He took our old plan from the previous company, looked them over, and made improvements. He was readily available and he gave me his phone number so I could text him or call him with any questions. He constantly was checking up every week and he was getting in contact with me and seeing how things were going during the whole process. We also had another advisor and his name was Pete. He was on the backend of it, but he was always there to make sure that we were fine with everything.

Sunrun upgraded the panels that they were gonna use to higher efficiency panels and gave us around ten more. We were contacted almost immediately from the company itself and everything moved really quickly and within three months, we had the panels on and were ready to go. The installation guys were fantastic and they had everything up within two days. They cleaned up my yard and the mess they made. They were also courteous coming through the house trying not to disturb anything. They were all friendly and the experience was perfect.

I try to recommend as many people as possible to go solar. I sit on a board of education and our school was talking about going solar, so I gave Sunrun’s name to our board of education for them to look into. I recommend a couple of other people, as many people as I could, to try to use Sunrun. The whole thing is great. My panels cost me starting out, which is less than half of what my electric bills were. My electric bill has been $4, which is basically the processing fee. In total, between our lease and our electric bill, we still pay less than half of what we were paying for our electric bill. We have between 93% and 97% solar coverage on what we get. When Matt came out, he was explaining that most people get between 80% and 90% or 85% to 95%, and we had one of the highest percentages of solar production that he has ever seen. We have 53 panels and they cover our garage, the front of the house, and the back of the house.

I already had solar before, but the company I had gone with got sold out and the new company who bought them was terrible in customer service and even billing. They had too much volume and weren’t able to take care of things. When I moved recently, I wanted to do solar again in my new house. I needed a new company and Costco has been great for everything. A rep was talking about solar for Costco and said that they went through Sunrun, so I went that route.

The customer service was excellent. It almost seemed like I had my own personal worker who was notifying and updating me of every step. They would notify me through email or call and would schedule everything very well. The process was very pleasant and very smooth. We have a brand-new thing installed and it was great. The installation was all within one day. They came first thing in the morning and most of the panels were up before noon. They got all the wiring and the panel stuff updated and they got it all taken care of within the day. The inspector came after that and finished up the rest.

The panels are of good quality. However, it’s not a matter of the panels. It’s a matter of the service you get when you need the service. There will always be questions, issues, and concerns. And the type of feedback you get when you have those questions and issues is what makes the company. I appreciate it when I get that positive customer service. Because of what I’ve experienced and because of everything I’ve seen and how they’ve treated me, I’ve already been commenting very positively and highly about Sunrun. I already have a few friends and family members who are thinking about it. Some just don’t have the right timing, but everybody is getting positive notes about my experience, so it’s a good thing. They kept me updated by email and the person that came out was very informative. He also kept checking in and making sure everything was good to go, so the communication was on point.

The installation was also easy. It took just a day, so it didn't take too terribly long. When the guys left for the day, everything outside was cleaned up. One guy left a jacket on the roof which we found later, but they came back out and took it off of the roof. My experience when enrolling with Sunrun was positive. They were very responsive and answered all my questions. They sent a spreadsheet of the different factors that I was looking at and trying to compare them to Sullivan Solar Power. The responses I got from Sunrun were very accurate and complete so I felt real comfortable working with them. The attention to detail they provided and their willingness to respond to my questions made me go with Sunrun. They were totally above board. There was no evasion to convince me to put in something different than what I wanted.

We talked about the number of panels and why the numbers were appropriate for my consumption. Their price was also competitive. After the installation, I misread the instructions on how to activate it and I couldn't get the battery panel to record. I had to call Sunrun and talked to a lady there. They sent somebody out to check it, and the person showed me what I had misinterpreted and it worked out.

Going solar means a lot of savings in electrical charges, for the SDG&E charges are base amount every month and it's what they call a non-bypassable charge. Over seven months, my total bills that we'll settle out at the end of the year of the contract with SDG&E right now is $80, which is barely over the non-bypassable charges plus the taxes and surcharges with SDG&E. I've had a dead zero utility bill ever since I put the system in. I've got a swimming pool and three adults living here at the house. They're here consistently so I'm very satisfied with the system and I've recommended Sunrun to several people. I got one neighbor on the one side that doesn't have solar. He went with some other company and he's regretting it. He'd done his a couple years earlier than ours and he has not been that happy with his. But I'm fairly enjoying mine and appreciate it.

I've been thinking about going solar for years but I wasn’t sure because of the location of my house. Then recently, I said that maybe I'd have somebody to look and see. Sunrun was recommended and the comments on the internet were good for them. The enrollment was a good experience. The only problem was they had a problem with their contractor and Sunrun had to drop them and get a new one. So that delayed the process for about three months. And while they figured out another contractor, we were isolated and there was a confusion about who was going to be the contractor in this. But we got in touch with their customer service team and our interaction was good.

The system is operating fine now and although there was only one time that it went out, they were right on it to fix it. It's also nice not having those big PG&E bills monthly. A lot of people can't afford to put one in straight out though. I paid for the whole thing for 20 years and the main reason was because I'm up in years and it would be transferred to my kids or to the new owners if they sell the house. I'm happy with mine and I'd tell others to look into it.

Stay away from this company when purchasing solar systems. They are impossible to deal with and downright fraudulent with how they deal with their customers. I purchased a home with an $80K prepaid leased system by Sunrun. One meter transmission system had already failed (seller didn't tell me, not their fault), the second meter transmission system failed a few months later. I tried for months to get them to come out, they finally did and said they couldn't fix it. Refused to replace the transmission element and refused to pay to trench to my house to get to the router (really, in today's age of electronics, they don't have a transmission system that can reach my house which is barely 100 yards away).

Told me the only thing to do is manually read the meters, so I did that weeks ago. Now they're telling me the person who handles that is out of the office until the end of August. And PG&E is going to hit me with a $3500 bill in August because they haven't been receiving the meter readings from Sunrun. Sunrun has been paid, they don't care. Their response, "PG&E has payment systems to help you." Really? You're defrauding me of the energy savings that I paid for and that's your response? Stay far away from this company.

I believe that going solar is the way to go. And based on conscience and the fact that in seven years we don't have to pay for our electricity, my wife and I decided to do it. We also have an electric car and that was factored in to select how big of an installation we needed. A family member recommended Sunrun. They also had a partnership with Costco and they've got warranty. And when we talked with them, they were very professional in the whole approach to it.

So, we enrolled with them and the process was very well divided off in stages. We were very well informed for each stage in terms of what we went through and there was only one snafu when there was some guy from the utilities that needed to do a review. There was some mix up with the dates but that didn't really affect us. We had a project lead that took us through all of it. She sent us emails and called a few times to follow up with things, so there was no problem whatsoever. Then, the installation was pain-free. It took a day then it was up. Plus, the installers cleaned up after themselves and did a good job informing us about things.

So far, we are little more keen to use electricity during the day where we get it for free and we changed the time for doing certain things because of that. For instance, I used to wash our clothes during the night but now, I wash during the day. We also used to run the pool cleaner at night but now, we do it during the day when we have the electricity. We also have a battery but we more perceive that as a back up. I have been recommending Sunrun and I have been pushing a lot of family members to go solar as well.

We were trying to actually save money in the long run and the solar providers were all basically in the same ballpark. But Sunrun's battery cost seemed to be more effective, price-wise. They were also able to do things quicker. Enrolling with Sunrun was a good experience and the process was very easy. The wife thought that if we put solar on the roof, all energy was free. She figured she’d keep the hot tub at 103 and keep the air conditioner at 74 and everything would be free. But I told her it's not that way. You only produce five kilowatts of energy and when you use five kilowatts of energy or more than that at any moment versus the panels, you're paying for it. But I was onboard and everything Sunrun did was great.

I did something where they lease the panels to you but they control everything. That was sold to me by a friend of the wife who works for Sunrun. That person said it's great and really fair. Basically, the warranty is 20 years and if anything goes wrong with the panels, they would fix it. My only concern is the battery. I bought one and that was another $7,500 on the deal but I don’t control the battery. Sunrun would deplete the battery down to 80%. So everyday when the highest rate pops up, they would sell the energy back to my local energy company which is PG&E. I thought I would be able to draw from the battery whenever I wanted during that period or when the sun went down. But that isn’t correct and you've got to buy energy.

I talked to their customer service people and they were friendly and courteous. But the first two people I talked to didn’t know anything. Then the third person knew everything. But she jumped so far away from what the other two people were saying and I thought she was wrong but she was actually right. Also, the salesman was insinuating that in 10 years, they would replace the battery. That’s because batteries are prescribed to last 10 years so they warranty it for 10 years. But that was not really the truth.

They came back after the deal was paid for and said they would only replace the battery if they need to. They said that since they control the battery, they're gonna do the best for it so it could last for 20 years. They said that the battery doesn’t deplete itself partially as to when we're using it. It depletes completely as to when they use it. That wasn’t in the salesman’s pitch at all but in the long run, I'm still gonna save that money whatever it was for it. I would tell others to be careful. If you do that lease and you only put panels on your roof, you're fine. Just remember, you don’t control the battery. That aside, I'm very satisfied with going solar. It works. We've had the power go out twice and the solar turns on the things that were supposed to turn on. Also, the daughter, my son and I are fine with the air conditioner at 78. But when the wife comes home, she wants it at 76. With Sunrun, we can run the air conditioner and keep her happy.

I had no issues with Sunrun until July 10th. My system stopped generating power. I realized that there was an issue on the 13th and called their customer support line. We went through some troubleshooting steps that did not resolve the problem. I was promised a callback within a few days. Fast forward to the 19th. I hadn't receive a callback. I called the customer support line again. I was told that the Sunrun techs were busy and that they would refer my case to one of their contractor. I was promised a callback yet again.

A week after calling, I still hadn't received a callback. So I called again. I was promised yet again a callback. I got a dispatch case number and the phone number for the contractor in question. And of course, I was promised a callback. I eventually called the contractor who told me that they had just received the dispatch. I am now waiting for the contractor to call me back to schedule a service appointment. So I am now 15 days without generating power and I have yet to have a service appointment scheduled. I am dreading receiving the Xcel Energy bill since the panels offset a fair amount of the power we are using. I doubt that whatever compensation I get from Sunrun would cover the difference. So basically, Sunrun is great as long as the solar system works. They are useless once it doesn't.

When approached about adding solar panels to our house by Darius ** from Sunrun we were told, "You could cancel anytime," if we got solar panels. We have been looking at other houses and knew we were not going to be in this house long term and told him this. Darius said that would not be an issue. We can cancel anytime. The panels would be removed and the roof would be returned to its previous condition at no cost to us. He showed us graphs where our electric bill would be around $15 dollars a month after adding the solar panels (we would also be paying Sunrun $59 per month). He told us the paperwork signing was a maintenance agreement, not a 20 year lease.

Now we are trying to sell our home. We cannot "cancel anytime". The customer service representative gave us the option of prepaying the next 20 years as our only way out. But the next homeowner would still have to take over the lease. He also asked if he could buy the system and she told him no. In the contract p.13 section 4.a there is an option to buy the system at fair market value. She did not present this to him. Sunrun is not interested in solving this issues or helping to transfer the contract. We have not been producing adequate levels of solar power to make a significant difference in our bill (some months it has been higher than before we got the solar panels) or cover the cost of the Sunrun monthly payment. We were lied to.

Updated on 02/01/2019: It has been a year now and I have an apples to apples comparison on a 9 month block of time. After being told how much I would save every year, I ended up paying $400+ more than the previous. I tried to have this conversation a while ago when I wasn't seeing any savings and their customer service department did not ever respond to my emails. I sent another email last week about my situation now having solid data to back it all up, and no response. Disappointed to say the least as I thought the owner (initial contact) was a solid guy and wanted to use a smaller company that was supposedly local. Really trying to do something to reduce my carbon footprint, breaking even would have been fine, actually. However, now I'm digging into my pocket for an extra $400/year and watching my sister saving a few $$ a month after she went with a national company. Disheartened.

Original Review: I initially had a great experience with the salesperson, whom I believe was the owner. He was very organized, polite, explained the system in detail, and how my bills would be affected. The process to get the panels installed took longer than I anticipated, but that doesn't mean it was too long. I don't believe I was educated enough on the process of installing solar panels, and overall I wasn't too concerned that the process was longer than expected. I've had the panels up and running now for about 5 months and noticed one thing...I'm paying more for my electricity now than I was before the panels.

I've waited to let the system become 100% operational, but still don't understand why I'm paying as much as I am...or more importantly...more than the salesperson explained I would pay to APS. Finally, I've tried to contact their customer service several times to discuss this. I don't know if there is something wrong with the system, if there were changes in my APS account I wasn't aware of, whatever the reasons... I just wanted to hear from someone to talk about possible answers.

It's been over a month since I received an email telling me a rep would be calling me. I've received one email response explaining what they thought could be the answer in very general terms. Their theory was wrong and I could have told them that quickly if I would have been called and we could have looked at other possibilities. The only assistance I have really gotten was someone from their customer service team looking for help reviewing a prototype webpage to help the consumer. However, I'm still paying more than I anticipated/was promised, and still have the same questions.

Sunrun installation coordinators were very nice and easy to work with giving me frequent updates. Once the system was up and running and they had me committed with a contract the quality customer service ended. Shortly after the system was running I noticed after doing some research that the meter was wired backward giving a negative value when it shouldn't. Sunrun told me several times that is was ok. It wasn't until I sent them a copy of the Lucas meter installation manual that they agreed to come out and make it right. Easy job done in about 20 minutes.

Now after running for a while I noticed via the monitoring app that even when I had plenty of battery I am pulling power from the grid. I have contacted customer service many times about this. One and only one customer service reps said that it shouldn't be doing that. The rest just say that they will have someone contact me. This has been going on for at least a month now with no resolution. On top of that now my Sunrun monitoring app shows zero solar power production even though it is producing enough to charge the batteries on a sunny day. On another section of the monitor app it shows power production at a much higher KWH than is even possible.

One of the customer service reps noted that they used a Lucas meter while the inverter is SolarEdge equipment and thought that was kinda strange. I don't have any way of telling if my system is doing what I am paying for. I am still paying the power company albeit much less than I was. I don't have any confidence that Sunrun places any value on the customer or intention to take care of their equipment once the service is energized. If you chose to go with Sunrun I hope your experience is better than mine.

I was very impressed with Sunrun. They were the first ones that contacted me when I was ready to listen. At that time, I was so mad at Indi Energy. They were even had to be taken to court to allow Sunrun or anybody to come into the state. We've had power outages because they don’t have enough energy. And when somebody took them to court and the court told them, Indi Energy backed down.

When I enrolled with Sunrun, I started with Russell who's in Arizona. He's very knowledgeable. In every conversation, he answered all my questions. He prepared me for what was coming up. Then during the actual installation, there hasn't been one gentleman who has not performed admirably. I'm in Nevada and the temperature here gets horrible, but they were up on the roof and were not wasting their time. Dave, one of the very nice gentlemen and who was the team lead, did the installation of the units on the side of the house and the job was perfect. In fact, the people next door went with somebody else and the stucco around their unit does not look like near as good as ours.

Since I have been through the process once, it was easier to work with Sunrun with my rental. Everything went perfectly. They did it all in one day just the same way they did with my primary residence. And then we had to wait for Indi Energy. It just so happened the day that Indi Energy showed up, I was at the rental. Their representative went over, checked out everything and then he told me that Sunrun is the best company. They do the best work they had ever seen. Soon, everything was ready for activation and I told them that I'll let my people know that it's ready. Their representative even offered to walk me through even though he can't do the activation. He told me the three sets of buttons that I had to push and flip and then it's up and running.

Home Solar Installation - 06/06/18, Wednesday. The Sunrun team arrived with 3 vehicles and 8 workers. Initially there was a problem on where to put the inverters and associated equipment. The Supervisor and I discussed options and concerns. Finally, a location just behind the fence gate was chosen. They went to work without delay and I was very impressed with the work ethic… In fact, I don’t think I observed them ever taking a break and I came out once every half hour to an hour to observe and to photograph the progress.

Most of the work in the beginning is on preparing the roof for the solar panels… measurements, anchor and attach points, cutting rails to size, wires, conduit, and of course, installing the inverters on the side of the house. There is a lot of preparation work that has to be done that most people will not notice unless they watch all the time. A midday shower with lightning did interrupt work for an hour. Because of their continuous work, I bought them lunch so they can relax and enjoy it during the rain. They finally quit fairly late and would be back the next day.

06/07/18, Thursday. The team returned (all the way from Tampa) at 9:30 and got right to work again. This is when everything started coming together. This is when I got to observe their honesty and integrity. Apparently one of my portable solar LED lights was damaged the day before without me noticing it. They purchased a new one and gave it to me with their apologies for breaking the old one. I have hired many professionals that have broken some of my equipment. Rarely would they even mention it leaving me to find out long after they were gone.

Every time I came out to see what was going on, you could see more and more panels installed. The equipment on the side of the house was finished and the installation looked absolutely perfect. Again it appeared that no breaks were taken until the very end when too many people could hamper the final work. Testing was done to make sure the panels were producing power. I was given instructions on how to operate the system and when I could expect the final approval to turn the system on to produce my own energy. The team finished up around 1:30 pm, cleaned up the area and then I took them out for a late lunch before they had to head back to the warehouse.

Total Impression. I have always wanted to have a solar panel installation and I have previously gotten estimates from different places. As with the other companies, I got the Sunrun estimate and through several cycles of exchanging information, I started to question the amount of money for the whole project. It wasn’t until after the project was finished that I realized the amount of work that goes into it. Much of this is behind the scenes work that you may or may not see. Some of those items are work permits and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that working with local and federal governments can be a pain in the rear.

Other behind the scenes work are calculating previous total power usage, house orientation and roof angles, plus engineering and construction plans take up many hours to figure out how to generate the most power using the least amount of panels. Then, the installation of using 8 workers for nearly two days of labor, the inverters, panels, wiring, anchors, rails and everything that goes into this project to make it a reality… this is when you realize the amount of money needed to buy the equipment, pay the workers and still make a profit for the company.

The very next day, Matt, a Sunrun representative, called to outline the remaining steps to the day when I can turn on the system. My contacts, Chris, Maegen and Matt have helped me through the entire process and their efforts are truly appreciated. I am very impressed with the quality, integrity and professionalism of the workers in this project. June 20, 2018. I knew it would be almost two weeks before I get the new meter from the power company but I received a notice saying that the paperwork was not correct because of the classification tier of my project. I notified my reps, Maegan, Chris and Matt via email about the problem. June 22, 2018. Great customer service. The paperwork was finished AND my new meter was installed and I am getting my energy from the sun.

The only negative I have for Sunrun was the fact that if my commercial power fails for any reason, then I don't get the benefits of my solar panels. This was not clearly explained to me. Since I live in Florida where there is a chance of hurricanes, or lightning will take out the power in the local area or the many stupid drivers here will take down a power pole... this was pretty darn important to me. Knowing that in advance would not have changed my mind, I would have looked for other ways to provide power in such an event. I recently found out that the State of Florida is now allowing Sunrun to add a battery system to their systems. This would allow you to continue generating power to your home even when commercial power is out. Had I known this before, I would have added it to my system.

I had several neighbors that had solar energy and I knew they were really pleased with it. One told me about and how much he was saving and helping the environment and we decided to look into it. All of our neighbors had Sunrun so I didn't even research companies because I knew my neighbor who started it had thoroughly researched and was very happy. She's had it for a couple of years so I thought that's enough reason. It was all based on her recommendation. The enrolment process was extremely easy because Sunrun took care of everything. But the process took a long time. The inspector guy was sick then the electric company had to come about and they had to change something and then the electric company had to come out again. It was from November till April to get the solar energy turned on.

During the installation, the installers showed up in the morning. They said that they were going to start 'cause it's supposed to rain and they started working. We figured they would have to come back the next day but they apparently sat in their truck while it rained. I was impressed that they stayed, had their lunch and waited for an hour so they finished it in one day. We've been very satisfied with our decision to go solar. However, the electricity would flicker a lot during the first six weeks and we were really concerned. It even shut off our computer a couple of times. I made a phone call and Sunrun said I need to take a picture of what the meter was saying and depended it resolved itself. But I think it was just our power window stored enough. With Sunrun, we're saving $70 a month and I like having it and using the natural environment to create power. They did an excellent job all the way and I've already recommended a couple of people to them.

My mom doesn't work anymore and she has a few people living in her house. With a lot of electricity, her bill was high. I was in Costco and I saw a person talking about Sunrun. And I know Costco doesn't advertise anything that's not gonna work. The enrollment with Sunrun was a long process and they went step by step. With the sign-up process, it was kinda difficult if you were not ready or if you didn't get the right information. But if you got everything right, there should be no problems. The customer service was also pretty good. I had a couple of questions and they helped me with whatever they could. So far, going solar has been good. I've been paying some really cheap bills. If anyone is having high bills, go solar. And I really recommend Sunrun.

I was walking around Home Depot when I first heard about Sunrun. I was in the process of buying a house then I walked by and thought it would be a good idea. I talked to their guy a little bit and he let me know about the system. I have a lot of friends who are on solar and they were all with another company. I would like to see what Sunrun has and when I got the house all finalized, I signed up with them.

Everything has been going well so far. I let the system go up and it was turned on. The project coordinator said that I would have to wait a week or a little bit longer so I could start monitoring the system. When the app finally connected, it was working for a couple of days but my solar panels were saying zero so I called their customer service. They told me that my system was working fine so I told them what was my issue and they said they were gonna work on it. I called back again and they said that they fixed the issue but it only worked for one day then it went back.

But my batteries are discharging when the sun is still strong which doesn't make sense. The house is taking power from the grid when there’s only a fridge or a radio or a router modem on and only one person at home. I was told it does that when the solar panels' not providing enough for the house. It also said 20 on top of the contract but they said 19 was the finalized so I was confused about that, too, although that one was all settled.

If someone asks me about Sunrun, I would tell them that it wouldn’t be good. I called and I got hung up on three times. And every time, they put me on hold to do a little research. I would understand if we were talking and it hung up but every time I got put on hold, it hung up. Also, customer service has gotta stop using two to three days if they're not gonna really call back or email. It has been a week and I still don’t have a tech scheduled to come to check out my equipment.

This house was originally intended to be a vacation house. It's 100 years old and it's usually 200% humidity on the eastern that it consumed large amounts of electricity. We had a belief that solar energy is a better way to go in terms of using natural resources, so, in addition to the specific needs we had, it was also a general sense that it was the right thing to do. I narrowed down which company I wanted to work with to put our Solar on our house. The company suggested Sunrun, so I did a bit of homework on the way up and liked what I saw.

The enrolment process with Sunrun was done very easily. I'm very comfortable with doing things over the web and they made the process all the way from sign off to keeping me informed of what was going on to telling me what the next steps were. It was very simple. They had that thought through the process of how to arrange the distance relationship and it worked very smoothly.

At one point, I was curious as to how long something was going to take in terms of once the installation was done, so I called Sunrun. I spoke to a person and they asked me three questions and immediately got to what I was asking and curious about. She was knowledgeable and knew how to answer my question and, at the same time, wanted to be certain that if I had any concerns, that I could call her back.

We only had one slight problem during the installation. This house has a very high pitched roof. There were two people climbing up on this roof, having to be suspended and having to dig in their feet to keep them in place. When they installed the racks, everything went fine, but when they installed the panels, they got them off-center because the middle of the roof has another adjoining roof come on to it. And my wife didn't want to look at it for the next 50 years.

So, we called Sunrun back and sent them the picture. They came out two days later and fixed it. It has worked beautifully and exactly as I was told it would. And when something went wrong, they fixed it immediately. The month before they did the installation was the highest electric bill we've ever had here. The next month, we paid $47 and this month, we paid $13. I love Sunrun and this has been a really great experience.

The energy is getting more expensive so it makes sense to go into solar. People from Sunrun saw me back to back and the customer service was good. The lady was always calling me back to keep me updated on the process. And they were very flexible on the date. But I always thought that all the equipment would be inside the garage and at the last minute they told me no because we're under new regulation on my location. The county was basically telling people to do it outside the garage. Sunrun should make sure to tell the customer at an early stage where the equipment will be. Other than that, the service was great and I'd definitely recommend Sunrun to friends.

He told me that they took another look at our roof and it looked like they couldn't do it, but he would elevate it to the design team. I wanted to go solar but I couldn’t afford it or get a bank loan for it. And the other thing is you have to pull your own permits and that’s almost impossible. You're made to jump through some gigantic hoops to generate power. You're made to get this gigantic cutoff switch and that's completely ridiculous. This just costs you a lot of money and it doesn’t have to be so. You're intimidated out of it. Sunrun made it easier. I liked the whole option that I could buy the panels from them if I wanted to. It was really a good deal. If I had a little money, I would because I think it wasn’t even that much.

My experience with Sunrun has been pretty good. They sent over a rep and he went through it with me. He gave me lower pricing than I was getting from HELCO. I signed a contract and the process was pretty easy. But it wasn’t made really clear to me that I was still gonna get a bill from HELCO. I didn’t know about that. Also, I was originally told the solar panels were gonna be installed within a couple of months. It, however, ended up taking a couple of years because HELCO did everything they could and were in cahoots with the billing department to stop Sunrun from cutting in on their territory.

There were some glitches with the billing for a while and it was kind of hard to pay online but it's gotten better. It took Sunrun a while to get their system up to speed and get the bugs out of them. But I was really happy with it. It lowered my bills by about a quarter so that’s significant. With Sunrun, it's been a positive thing. I was off grid for about 20 years before I bought this house so I was very used to it and I had really small systems. And it’d be nice if I could just disconnect from the grid completely and buy the system from Sunrun. Maybe someday, I'll be able to do that.

I recommended Sunrun to a bunch of friends because they offered a cash incentive for it. I told anyone that asked about them how much I'm paying less on my utility bills. They gave me an offer when I got it about how I could purchase the panels from them and every year that purchase price gets adjusted. And it gets almost to zero by the end of the 15-year contract from what I understand because they're figuring that the commercial use of the panels is done by then. I might consider at the end because there are plenty of panels on my roof and I could probably get another 20 years out of them.

I was very satisfied with my decision to go solar with Sunrun. They were least costly than SunPower. And their panels aren’t quite as efficient but the company itself is very efficient. And during the installation, I told them that I didn’t want to have a Tetris-looking system. I've seen some really screwed up looking designs on people’s roof. Based on the way that my roof was, they had to make two rectangles instead of just a big one which I was fine with because I didn’t have six little rectangles placed where there are almost all of the rectangles but there's one panel missing. I was very happy with the way that they did it all. Also, I'm getting the benefits that I expected from the system.

However, the problem I have with them is that they told me that if I sign up for an ACH draft where they’d take the money directly out of my account every month, it would be $7.50 cheaper. I figured that in 20 years, that's going to add up. So I went with it despite me normally doing my stuff on BillPay. However, I specifically told them that I had to have it come out at the beginning of the month because I'm on disability and I get my check once a month at the end of the month. But it seemed like the girl I was talking on the phone only cared about getting my routing and checking number and she wasn't doing anything to make that happen. But then I gave them my routing and checking account numbers.

What ended up happening was, they took out two months’ worth of payment not at the beginning of the month like I said but at the end of the month and it hit my bank account when I didn’t have any money left. My system was turned on by the beginning of January and in March they sent me a statement saying I owed them $400. So, my account was overdue because I wasn’t counting on it and it was really messed up. Then, charges got bounced at my bank because of it. All of a sudden I have hundreds of dollars of overdraft charges and bad accounting with my bank because of that. And then, just recently I looked on the statement and there was an extra $7.50 charged.

I emailed the customer service about it and they told me that that happened because I didn't sign up for the ACH draft. I told them I did and that I gave them my checking account and my routing numbers. So I'm not very happy about that at all. They should do something to make it right because that really screwed me up.

It made sense that we're prepaying our power bill for 10 or 12 years to pay the thing back. We should have done it years ago. My daughter had Sunrun put in their equipment and they were happy with everything. They did a lease system and we did a purchase system. But they were happy with everything that Sunrun had done and everything. I heard the industry, especially at the event I went to in California, and Sunrun always came on the top side. They were always the good guy to other company.

People called and handled pretty much everything. They emailed me the schedule, what was gonna happen and how they were gonna do it. And every once in a while people would call me and say, “Hey, we're gonna be there on such and such a day.” They take care of everything. In order to put the new equipment in, they had to change our whole meter panel and everything associated with that and they handled that well too. All the people that we interacted with were knowledgeable, including their sales guy or the girl that constantly let us know where they were and what they were doing and scheduling.

The guys that installed it were perfect. They were really clean as far as the work that they did. They didn’t leave any scrap laying around. They were there when I breezed through the house one afternoon and doing the work and I talked to him for five minutes or so, but they were all real friendly, real nice and safety conscious. I would recommend them.

They called us to tell us that everything was done and we said, “Yeah, we’d already turned it on.” We already thought we had everything running properly. I still have a couple of questions about getting it online. I don't know if that’s something they do or something we do. I just haven't had the time to call them back while I'm standing there at it. But I wanted to be able to read all the stuff and I know they can read the meter. They're getting all of their information electronically because I logged into my user account or whatever it is with Sunrun and I'm able to look at our production. It was expensive ‘cause we purchased the system rather than leasing it but it was probably the right thing to do. As far as producing our own power, that’s great. We've been doing it as a company for years. We do it commercially on remote mountaintop sites but not good connected systems.

Sunrun has been doing it for a quite a while and they know what they're doing. They were an easy company to work with. I didn’t have to deal with any little crap that came up. They took care of everything and would let me know what they were doing and how they were doing it. And me being in the industry, I'm aware of every little thing that they're doing and they did all the stuff properly.

A lot of people have solar energy services around here and when the sales rep, Joel, from Sunrun came, he was wonderful and knowledgeable. He didn't pressure us and I liked that. We saw him in January and within that month, we contacted with each other back and forth. For any questions I had, I was able to text him or call him anytime and he always got back to me. If the world was made up more of him, it would be a nice place. He cared what he does and about the customer. It was not just about selling the product.

Before we signed anything with Sunrun, we searched on Google and decided to try them. If we got screwed, then we got screwed. But Joel was so nice and entrusting in his own company that he works for. I never inquired about solar energy services since I figured that we had to buy the panels, which we can’t afford. We're in our 60s and I'm not gonna do something like that to my house at this point. But out of all the people who kept telling us not to do it and that it was a scam, I kept calling Joel and asking him if he was sure about their services. He said that he also has solar energy service at his home and that it's not a scam.

Everyone told me that in 20 years, it would not be good and that there would be new ones. But in 20 years, I'm gonna be 80 so who cares then? That’s for the next homeowner. I may not be here in 20 years. Although going solar is not saving me thousands of dollars, it's still saving me hundreds. And $50 a month for the next 20 years when we're on a fixed income would be another bill that I could be paying. We have nothing to lose. I had just put a new roof and it was the right time to go solar.

When the sun is out and if somebody keeps the TV on, as we always try to watch, I would tell those people to turn that off as we're using bytes here. But I don’t have to worry about that anymore. My bill used to be $151 every month because we were on a budget and I didn’t like PSEG because when we had storm Sandy, they weren't helpful to us. Now, I don’t need them as much, so going solar has worked for me. With Sunrun, I'm paying $103 as opposed to $151.

More people are going solar now since there really is no cost out of pocket. It was always a $20,000 or $30,000 investment and at this age and I can't do that. But we felt that having a solar energy service was an improvement to the home and hopefully if we have to sell, it would be a seller’s point. We talked about going solar with our relatives and we felt more knowledgeable about it. My cousin, who is an engineer, asked how the panels are hooked up to the side that we have where the boxes are. I told him that I didn't know how, but that Sunrun hooked it up and we use it the same way just like the electricity. I saw a battery generator I liked at Home Depot, so when the lights go out, the generator is there. I inquired about it with Sunrun, but they said they didn’t offer that kind of generator. But other than that, the overall experience with Sunrun was nice. We’ve had them since March and so far, so good.

Sunrun’s a classy, great company. They have the best clarity on what they do. They call it transparency and that’s refreshing. They also operate efficiently and that’s a sign that the company’s gonna be doing well in the long run. There’s really no other choice if you wanna do solar. You will be taking a big risk if you go with anyone else. We liked Sunrun the best so we’re working well with them and trying to make it a big part of our life.

We were working in Fresno and it looked like a really good place for solar. Enrolling was easy and convenient because Sunrun has everything online. The training materials and modules are also well thought-out and that makes it a lot easier to do at your own pace. The customer service reps are also easy to speak to. They speak English and you can understand them. Our customers really value that and that’s a big plus for them.

Sunrun went above and beyond what was expected on the installation and it has been working well. However, the meter was moved from the back of the house over to the side, and the back is still covered with plastic. I’m trying to get a cover put on the meter location and I reached out to them about two months ago but I haven’t been successful on getting that straightened out. That aside, going solar with Sunrun is gonna save me money. It's also something I can talk about and I can be up with the times with people I know.

Solar energy service is like remove the carbon footprint. Also, I was looking at the PG&E prices and PG&E electric prices were pretty high compared to what we have with solar energy. Sunrun's pricing was very competitive and it's a pretty solid foundation. It's not a company which recently started. Also, it was a recommendation from my friend so we chose them. The enrollment was pretty smooth and coordinated. The customer service rep, Anthony, was very helpful with everything and with the multiple options giving all the pros and cons of each.

I started some time in October last year and they could install only in mid-April. We had to get a city approval and we were trying to reach out and provided all the document. The folks from Sunrun helped a lot to expedite and it took their own time. Other than that, all the other experience from different hand-off was very clear. And I'm pretty excited that we are now generating our own electric energy. I just got my first monthly bill with the month of May and my PG&E bill was pretty low compared to what I used to pay. Also, there were some additional panel that we needed to install because there are panels that are very old and those were taken care of pretty well. I'm pretty happy with what we have right now with Sunrun and the way it is working.

I already recommended two of my friends. They asked me how much was my bill reduced and how comfortable was the whole process. I told them I found that there was no hassle from outside, through customer service, to the installation team and inspection team. Everything was aligned properly. But it is not like today I signed up and it would be installed the very next week. It takes a lot of time. It is not only the design team and they follow all the compliance. At the end of the day, you still need to have patience to get something better.

I'm extremely pleased with Sunrun. The power bills kept getting ridiculous, so I got in touch with them and when I called, they answered the phone and nobody put me on hold. There was also no haggling, no false promises and they were on top of things. The guy that came out was polite, had a lot of dignity and class. He seemed very knowledgeable about the business and operations. He also treated us with dignity and utmost respect. He answered all my questions and convinced me, so I decided to go with them and their sign up process was easier than I expected. Their installers also came at the time they were supposed to come and didn't leave a mess. They also did exactly what they said they were gonna do which meant a lot to me because many companies nowadays promise everything and give nothing. I'm very pleased so far and I've seen a decrease in the bill since signing up. I have recommended them to go to my friends.

I wanted to do the right thing for the planet and for my pocket so I researched on putting solar on my house. I picked a few different companies and Sunrun was one of them. The sales rep that I spoke to there was extremely honest. I didn’t feel like he was trying to sell me something more than I needed. The enrollment process with Sunrun was a bit long though. Because my credit score was two-point shy of qualifying for their lease, I had to take the whole year to try and repair that small percentage of my credit. But once I got set up for the lease, the process was quick. It all happened within about six weeks. Brian has been a Godsend. He worked with me for over a year to make sure that I was able to get this to happen. And the install team was extremely professional as well.

On the other hand, I qualified for a gift card through Costco and it still hasn’t arrived. I have been talking with the customer service team for about a month and I've been told the gift card would arrive next week for a few weeks now. But it's okay. It's in progress. That aside, there has been an absolute reduction in my electricity charges and I'm extremely satisfied with my decision to go solar. I'd definitely recommend Sunrun to others and tell people to go for it.

DO NOT use this company unless you prefer waiting a minimum of 2 weeks anytime there is something wrong with your system. Of which I was just told on the phone by a rep that I was being punished for late payments and that's why it took so long for someone to come out. WTF is that! Stay away from this company, they are totally disorganize and expert the users to know how to operate a solar system from the get go without any information on how to make things work proper. They do not communicate within their organization as far as their tech support and billing. Customer service is extremely rude and totally not willing to take responsibility for their failed actions.

My system is still not active after paying off a back due bill which I did not pay because I was never able to see any stats on the system actually working on my new home. I told customer service I would not be paying the bills until I could see some actual proof that I was receiving solar energy, they told me the reason I could not see any stats for the past 5 months of usage was because they never connected my email address to the account properly and therefore the system would not show me stats.

After they admitted that's why I could not see any information on my account they told me it was my fault for not calling them (which I did to complain) and that they will NOT backdate anything and that they will only discuss the account moving forward once the back bill were paid. I was being asked to pay for a system that was not even connected to my electrical grid for 5 months. Over $700 I had to pay in order to even get them to come back and turn the system back on. They shut it off without any warnings and or phone calls or emails to let me know it would be shut off.

When I last spoke with them I was told that it's not on, then I said well a tech just came to the house and told me it was back on. Then the rep told, "Oh yes I can see that but it's not showing us any data. Maybe it needs to be updated." After that I asked how long would it take as it took 2 weeks prior for a tech to come turn it on, rep told, "That's because you're being punished for non-payment but since your account is back to reg status we will send someone right away." So they screw my account up and then punish me. Absolute garbage company

They have to work with APS, the local electric company, and they told me everything to expect and when, and it all happened just like they said. This is my first year in Arizona so I wasn’t sure how much my electric bill would increase during the summer, but with my contract, it’s staying the same. I was always interested in solar energy services. Our neighbor works for Sunrun, so he got us started on it. And once I got talking with him a bit more, it piqued my interest more and I decided that it was the time to do it. When I enrolled with Sunrun, I talked again with our neighbor and he set everything up for us. The experience was smooth. He came over and talked to us about the system and explained how it works. He also explained the financing and once we saw the numbers, it was almost a no-brainer. Solar providers are all similar in some ways, but, since I knew my neighbor and he gave me some background, it helped.

I’ve talked to a couple of people with Sunrun’s customer service team on the phone throughout the process and our interaction was great. Everybody has been really good. Since the installation, I’ve been looking at what a production is and have seen what we’re saving from month-to-month. It has only been a couple of months now so it’s hard to get a big picture idea, but, in the short term, it is really helping out. Sunrun has saved me money and it has been helping save the environment a little, in a way. Being on the forefront of renewable energy as a whole, we really need to go towards to get away from things like fossil fuels and current ways of generating electricity. Any little bit can help.

Everything has been great and it has been a really smooth transition to it and everything from start to finish has been done well. We didn’t do anything. We just sat back and watched the whole process go on, so it was easy. I’ve already recommended Sunrun to several people. I would also give my friends whatever little knowledge I have at this point about the whole system, like how it works and what they can potentially save with it and the reasons for doing it.

We saw an advertisement of Sunrun in Costco and contacted them through Costco. We were already looking at going with another provider, but we decided to get a competitive second bid. And not only was Sunrun a better fit for us, they provided more solar panels at a lower price. And they had fantastic customer service and great people as well. The whole experience was great. They came here and they walked me through the process. There was a series of many crews who came in and they did a fantastic job. They left the area clean and even took care of dry-walling and making the house actually look better than it was before they even got here.

They were also open to my suggestions. For example, the other company had given me one diagram for the ideas of how they would put the solar panel. Sunrun suggested a different way. And I took pictures over a series of a week. And then sent the Sunrun representatives and engineer pictures, and made a different suggestion. And then they took all of those and actually came out with the final plan that was a variation of all of them so that I would get the best or the most sun for our solar panel. They left to get it done further even though it took extra time. And they just were very supportive, so I greatly appreciated that. We’ve already told others to definitely go with Sunrun and leave the others behind. Sunrun definitely is the best price and you get the best product. You get a 20-year warranty, too. So no one can beat Sunrun in this area.

He came to the house with the presentation for signing up with Sunrun. We were interested in buying. Not leasing. One of the promises that got our attention was the guarantee that Sunrun would be responsible for any damages caused by Sunrun’s solar panels to our roof. However, when Anthony sent us the contract to sign, we were surprised by the limitation of liability clause which stated that Costco and Sunrun will on be liable for up to 20k for any damage caused by Sunrun to our house.

After contacting Anthony, not only he gave me the car salesman pitch, he guaranteed me that what he was saying was true and that Costco and Sunrun are large companies with large umbrella of insurance coverage. I asked Anthony that what he saying was true then he wouldn’t mind sending us an email outlying what he was saying. He said he would contact his boss first, Christopher **. He also provided Christopher ** contact info. After multiple texting and email to Anthony **, Christopher ** and Moses **, we still have no reply from anyone of them. Be careful of what promised by Sunrun and what’s in the contract. For a big company to play bait and switch is very disappointing.

There was a team leader who was the contact while they were here. At one point, I asked him to look at the flashing on my chimney because I wanted to make sure it was okay up there. I wanted solar for a long time and had to deal with a lot of nonsense. First, they said that they don’t install them in flat roofs. But they do it in flat desert. Also, the regulations jumped through hoops. I saw my neighbors putting up solar services and I’ve known about it for a long time. I’ve been studying this and reading for nine years.

Enrolling with Sunrun wasn’t bad but the setup was a problem. I told the customer service reps that there was a problem turning on my Sunrun. They walked me through it and I saw one green and two red lights. So there was something wrong. I called them and told them but they didn’t understand. They talked about the light being amber and it was red. It took them three weeks to send somebody out here to look at it and when the two guys came, they said the equipment was broken.

There was only one good person and he walked up to the roof and checked the panels. He came down, plugged it in and it went away. The red signal light was a plug they forgot to put in. I explained my problem to Sunrun and they took their time about even setting up an appointment. I’ve waited a while for them to come out here and after I sent them pictures and communicated with them with texts and all that kind of stuff, they still didn’t act right. It took them so long to address the issue and I was a first-time customer and I’d give an F to the follow-up team. If I didn’t have to wait so long, I wouldn't have had the service. I would recommend them anyway because I study solar energy and I know the benefits. At the end of the day, the electric company can keep raising its rates. I would refer them but they need to tighten up their act on the customer service end because it's lousy.

We wanted to get a solar energy service to save money over time. A Sunrun vendor in the neighborhood came over to the house and explained it to us. Everything was very easy with the enrollment process with Sunrun. It was all seamless and all we had to say was “Yes”, and they were there to do everything. The installation was very easy as well. All we had to say was a day when we were available and it was next Wednesday. Then they said they would be there and we didn't have to be. But I showed up anyway just to see how they were doing.

They did the job on their own and there was nothing broken. I couldn’t even tell that the solar panel was there until I had to go really looking for it. I knew where they were gonna go on our house but you can’t really see that side so you’d have to go look. So they did a really good job with that. They were trying to hide it by keeping it out of sight and running all the pipes and everything matched with the house. You can’t even really tell that anything had changed.

Originally when we were turning the system on, I’d missed a step on my end, and I had to call the customer service team and ask if the thing was even on. They said that happens all the time and they walked me through the process. Then within a few minutes, we verified that the system was on and we were up and running. They were very helpful and fast. Everybody has been very nice, from the sales guy all the way up to customer service. We had a really good experience. And then their interface on their website, their app, is really nice also. We can see how much power we’ve made per day, per week and per month, which is pretty neat.

We have the monthly payment that we make to Sunrun which is much less than the bill that we were giving to PG&E. And we could tell right away that we were saving some money. We feel better about it. We’ve already told a bunch of people about Sunrun and I told them that the company has been awesome. And if they haven’t gone solar, I told them that they need to do it because it has been an amazing thing. My parents are from the high desert plains of Texas where there's sun year-round just like in California. So they will benefit from solar.

I wanted solar energy for quite a few years, but my wife and I didn’t own our home at the time. We were renting from our parents and when we finally purchased the house, we wanted to put solar energy on it. There was another place I had tried to get solar through and they said that it wouldn’t work because at that time we were still on the PG&E CARE program.

On the other hand, enrolling with Sunrun was really easy for the most part. I never even had to be home to deal with any of it. The original guy that put the electrical panel on the house showed up before I headed to work. He said, “Yeah, I’m here to put your panel on and I’m gonna stick it here, and that’s that. You'll be turned back on even before you’re home from work.” They were straightforward and it seemed easy to take of the solar panels through them. We did some stuff over the phone, and then some through email for those that I had to sign. So far, we don’t have a PG&E bill. So in my book, that’s great because Sunrun cut our stuff and knocked at least $200 a month off of our electricity bill. It’s also a cleaner source of energy and with the way the world is growing, it’s a necessity for keeping the power grid up. Sunrun's the perfect place to go unless people would want to own their system outright.

The rep walked us completely through the enrollment and he helped us get financing. He was really good and the installers were very helpful and great. They showed us what to do and how the system ran.

We love the fact that solar is working all the time as opposed to worrying about how it is especially in the monsoon season that we’re getting into it right now. We don’t have to worry about running an electricity when we have to bake. However, we had some difficulty logging on to our account. The code they sent us would expire before we even got it and it took an entire month for Sunrun to investigate why the system was doing it. On the other hand, Sunrun has been very helpful. But then once it’s paid off, I’m gonna be saving a lot more. I told my parents and brothers that they should get Sunrun. I would definitely recommend Sunrun.

We starting a project of getting solar installed with Sunrun in our new home shortly after we moved in in October 2016. Through our time working on this project, we have run against a lot of confusion, errors and overall frustrations. There are many solar companies that we have talked to but we decided to move forward with your company due to your connection with Costco. We have always been impressed with Costco and figured a company working with Costco should have a similar customer focus and professionalism. I would like to go through a few of our many frustrations that we have experienced in working with Sunrun.

We started the project in November and didn't get everything installed until Sept 22. They had initially told us that the panels would be installed by April-May of 2017. The communication between our projects leads and the owners of the home was very poor. When we set up our project we set it up originally off of a partial electric bill. Once we realized this we asked to increase the size and quantity of the panels on our project to get closer to our actual energy usage. The employee who was at the house then set it up as two different projects on the same property. One project being the original plan (as the original project was already moving through the process).

The second project being the additional panels required for the second plan. At some point, they realized they could not do it as two separate projects so they canceled the separate projects causing us to get an automatic email notification that our project was canceled. In order for us to find out what happened, we had to call them. The canceling of the projects caused an issue with the financing process which we as the customer had to resolve through a series of phone calls and a series of additional paperwork. We were told originally that the roof repair work would be covered in the installation.

A while into the project we were informed via email that we would have to pay an additional amount to cover the overage. I called to find out more and was assured a number of times that it was covered. Additional emails came stating we needed to pay, leading to an additional phone call where they stated that we indeed needed to pay extra and that the extra could not be financed.

When they came to change out the electric panel we were not informed that our power would be turned off for the whole day until the contractors arrived that day. The communication was buried in a few PDF files attached to an email. No one asked if we wanted to keep the old panel leading to the contractors to throw it away without our permission. After installation, the contractors left us with very limited information about the system and how it worked etc. Causing us to have to follow up with the company to get the manual and other instructions for our new $50,000 appliance. Meanwhile, there were several different people that would contact us for various things and there was no continuity of contacts. Further, there are 4 owners of this property and we asked them numerous times to copy all of us on all email communications which did not happen.

After the installation of the system was complete our pump on the pond was not working. We thought it was an issue with the pump so we called someone out to repair it. Come to find out it was not a problem with the pump, the problem was that the panel was not appropriately hooked up to the pump. The screw in the panel box was not connected to the wire. This was causing a spike in electricity usage and causing the pump to not work. In order to determine this, we had to call out a pump guy and an electrician to tell us that Sunrun screwed up the connection. The electrician was able to fix this issue but this cost us extra time and money.

Now this month we got our electric bill showing our connection to the solar. At first, it looked promising, until we got a second bill in the mail. I called up SDGE and found out that Sunrun had only hooked the solar up to our water pump electric meter and not to the house. So now not only am I still paying for my HIGH electricity bill on the main property but now I am paying for my solar panels that were supposed to help lower the cost of my electricity. Apparently, the wrong application was filed. A dual application needs to be submitted to connect the solar to both the house and the water pump meters. We did inform a few of the people that we worked with over the last year that there were 2 different electricity meters on the property.

All in all, these are some of the biggest issues we have had through this process. There are other issues that were minor but still should not have happened. I have to say that in the end we have not been impressed with Sunrun and would not recommend them to anyone else. We are very disappointed how this entire project was handled. In my opinion, this experience was not worthy of its connection with Costco. We hope you can address these issues so that other customers in the future do not have to struggle through what we did. We also hope to get our system issues addressed in a timely manner so we can be freed from this nightmare of an experience. Now they have sent us to collections for a bill they never sent and that customer service says they have no records of. Almost three years later and still living the nightmare.

I bought a house and there was an existing contract with Sunrun that I was obligated to continue. I haven’t had any issues with them and I seemed to be saving money from what I had previously been paying when I was at a house with a standard electric. The prices seem reasonable, and the quality of the product and service has been fine. I would not hesitate to recommend Sunrun to somebody else.

Sunrun visited us at our house in Greenville. They were walking through the neighborhood trying to get different houses to sign up for solar panels. We always thought it was a good idea. At the time, we were looking to sell our previous house. And now that we have, we were gonna be here for a while, and we decided that why not go and bite the bullet. The worst that could happen is that they don’t offset the power bill at all. But so far, we’ve been pleasantly surprised.

Shawn was the representative at the time that was working with us. He walked us through what he could. He had to make sure that we didn’t mess up somewhere along the line. The reps were very friendly too and they apologized. Like at the old house, they said, “I know that there was no soliciting. But your house is in a great position for this”. It was a good pitch. They behaved very professionally. And more than that, for the most part, they were knowledgeable about any questions we had about how their system works. And they were believable also in their command of information. The final process was pretty easy too.

The home inspection went pretty quickly as well. But then there was a lot of red tape where about five months, nothing was happening. It might have been that long where nothing directly related to the manager, was happening. But they got around to putting the panels on the roof and it moved pretty quickly from that point on. Some of the suggestions were to do our clothes in the daytime and run the dishwasher in the daytime since that power is coming from the sun. It seemed that it affected the bill about the same amount that it was predicted that it was going to.

I’d tell others to definitely go ahead and work with Sunrun. It was a good experience. They are a very professional company as far as the roofing repairs. Because that company was not shoddy, they outright assured me that they weren’t gonna be leaving any trimmings and shingles or anything in the yard. I got several calls along the way. And when I didn’t receive any information, I wasn’t sure what was going on. So I sent a quick email out and I got a reply fairly quickly. And it was nice. I felt like I was doing something. I was making progress.

We have a big electric bill in our house. We were interested in saving energy, so we looked at solar energy providers and found that Sunrun had better savings compared to others. But if not for the savings, we would have gone with SolarCity. Sunrun's enrollment process was simple and the gentleman who came to us explained everything very efficiently. The installation was great and everything is beautiful.

I'm currently having issues that I never had before with some electrical system. A guy came out, but he didn't know what's going on and if it's the equipment. He didn't take anything apart, but he needed to see what I was seeing. An electrician should know what's going on or should do some more research or call someone, but he didn't. They should be more knowledgeable on the equipment as to what may happen or what may not happen. There should also be more support and training in the equipment that they install. In addition, I haven't gotten a call or an answer from anyone. But overall, my experience with Sunrun has been good. And the important thing is we are saving money in going solar and it's also saving the ecosystem. We had recommended Sunrun to a few people.

He explained to me all the benefits and what all the other rates are gonna be in the future years. And I agreed with him. I thought about it and said that I better do it now before the Sunrun charges more than what it was gonna be. He was a really good salesman. He was polite, professional and respectable. And I had a good experience with him.

I’ve been using the air conditioning unit and my spa. And with the additional panels, I don’t have a large bill anymore. Before then the bill was $200. And now they owed me now. With the last one being $85. It has been two months since and I'm really satisfied. I don’t like anybody lying to me and I know he wasn’t lying to me, which is what I like. They did what they say they were gonna do and they did what they wanted to do. And I let them. I'd tell friends that Sunrun is decent with decent prices and that they'd save a lot of money in the end.

A friend of ours from the community told Travis from Sunrun that we were thinking about having a solar plan, so Travis came over to our house, talked to us and we went through with it. Enrolling went by a lot faster from what I thought it would since we started in January and we were up and running by March. When APS was here, we weren't here and they installed the meter and left a note on the door saying we were up and ready to go. And so I called Ariel at Sunrun and I told her. They had not received the notice yet from APS but we turned it on a week before they got the notice so I had a week of free solar. The installers came at 8:00 and they were done at 12:00. I just let them do their job, and I didn’t even know they were here when they left ‘cause they cleaned up absolutely fantastic.

Sunrun has the app that I have on my iPad and I know exactly what’s gonna happen next and when it’s gonna happen. I don’t have to call them at all because I can follow everything right through my own computer. Our air-conditioning bills were about $300, and now my last bill to APS was minus $68 and change. It’s been an unbelievable experience and we've already referred a friend of ours down the block.

I saw something come up on my computer about New York State letting middle-income homeowners have the solar panels for free. My son had taken Sunrun about three years ago. Sunrun's reps came around his neighborhood and he got the solar heating. He’s happy with it, so I figured why not. I’ll try anything to lower my bills. I looked into other solar companies and I called somebody. A guy came and he was here for about two hours. He wanted me to write him a check for $3,500. But I told him no. My son got it for free and I wanted the same thing. I practically had to kick him out of the house. He wouldn’t leave unless I gave him a check. He should have told me in the very beginning that the panels weren’t free.

When this fellow from Sunrun called me, I made sure that it was free. He came and I liked him. Plus, he seemed to be local. He was able to get here that day that I called. So, I went with them. Enrolling with Sunrun was very easy and they did it all. Sunrun was very efficient. The men were very nice when they were working here. They cleaned up everything in my garage where they had to drill holes. My system has only been running for about a couple of months now and I am saving a few dollars. Sunrun lowered my bill from $133 to $105. But the rep said that as the PSE&G goes up to 3.5% every year, I would still only pay what I’m paying now. I recommended Sunrun to some of my neighbors.

My husband had wanted Sunrun for over a year but I was against it because we had just gotten a gazebo and a whole new front porch. Plus, I thought that Sunrun's panels are very ugly. I did not want all that taken away from the look of the house.

When he was telling me, he drew up a couple of pictures for us and showed us how we could still get solar but everything would be at the back of my house. When people drive by and take pictures of our home, they can't see it. The best part was when they came to put the solar panels in were reading the same upside down and they were starting up front. I asked them what they were doing and told them that they can set up in the backyard.

Eventually, the higher ups and the guy who sold it to me came out and there was like a big uproar with that. Even so, if they put it up front, that would've been horrible. Nevertheless, my bill has disappeared almost and there is about a $150 difference. I'm going around and telling everybody in the neighborhood about Sunrun and talking to them for future sales.

I don't have enough space to list all issues I have had since signing up with Sunrun but I will say it has been the worst decision I have ever made as a homeowner. Since my system was installed (over 4 years now) it has not once produced the power promised. Even with my Sunrun system I am paying the electric company between $1300 and $2000 a year. Please don't be fooled by the "guarantee" they offer on your power production, it is a scam. What it does is pays you for what they don't produce however it does not come close to covering what you will pay your electric company. The purpose of solar is to keep you in lower tiers with your utility company. When solar under produces your tiers go up and you pay the higher rate. For example my Edison bill last year was a bit over $1300, Sunrun gave me about $300 back in underproduction and I get stuck paying the extra $1000 out of pocket to Edison.

Sunrun has done nothing to fix the issue and the customer service is nonexistent. The folks who answer the calls are always very polite however they can't resolve your problems. They promise a "supervisor" or the right person will call you back but nobody ever does. Oddly every time I call all of the supervisors are "in a meeting" all at the same time. Since I am in a contract there is really nothing I can do and they know it.

Next is their "warrant" they speak of. It sounds great that they will monitor your system and do any and all repairs for free. Here is the issue with that. About two years after my under producing system was installed my "inverter" went out during the summer months which means I was producing zero power. Sunrun let me know that they were out of stock and it would be months before they fixed it. I asked if that meant they were not able to do any new installs across the entire country because they had no inverters and of course they said they had inverters to do new installs but none to repair the systems of their "valued" customers. So I went many months of no solar at all but don't think for a second they will let you stop paying them even though they won't repair your system. Anyway my Edison bill was $2000 that year and what Sunrun refunded me didn't even come close to covering it.

If nothing else please do your homework and get quotes from several reputable companies before you go solar and truly understand your contract. I made mistakes as well that are completely my own fault. I am paying Sunrun more money for less power than some of my friends/relatives I was able to steer away from Sunrun to other companies. The salesman gave me a good pitch and I signed up without shopping around. That is completely my fault but all I have asked from Sunrun is to simply produce the power I am paying for and they have not lived up to their end of the deal one time since I signed on. And again, you're in a contract for a very long time.

Once they have you on the hook they have zero motivation to help you. All I can do at this point is tell my story in reviews and hang out with the poor sales representatives at Costco and warn all of their potential victims about what they are really getting with Sunrun. I don't know if there is a way for potential customers to contact me direct from here but if there is feel free to message me. I will be glad to explain all of the issues I have and what I have learned. I really don't want to see anyone get stuck in the same situation I am in.

I was just surfing on the internet and I ran across a bunch of people that Sunrun installed their solar systems so I started calling them. I liked what John, the salesman that I contacted, had to say. I was looking into solar energy slowly. I just bought a new home for me and it didn’t have solar on it. I’m living in Arizona and it’s located right into the sun up. John came out to the house and we talked about the whole system and how it all works. The other salesmen that I talked to were just salesmen, but John knew what he was talking about. I’m a retired electrician and everything he said made sense. So we just went ahead and enrolled.

From there on, the scheduling and getting the permits were really smooth. The installers came and they did a great job. Two guys did the install of the eco panels and two or three guys did all the equipment inside the house. They all knew what they were doing and did a very professional job. Sunrun was a very easy company to deal with. I’ve only had one electric bill when it was up and running. The month before the install, my bill was around 150. But the bill for the first full month that solar was working was only $11.74. I’m pretty pleased. We have a slight problem with the circuit at this moment. The solar systems are working but for some reason, we have a problem with the battery pack and they’re coming out to figure that one out.

It was very surprising to me that Sunrun is associated with Costco. Because of their association, I received a $1,200 gift card from Costco. The company keeps running the way they are and doing things like they did for me. I have recommended them a couple of times. It really runs smoothly from the first contact with the salesperson and the follow up with John. They just got a super team.

We had someone come to our door and talked to us about solar energy. The way that he presented it to us was that it wouldn’t cost us anything as far as our taxes and huge bill. It’s something that the City of Banning was taking and since they went to the new meters, they were welcoming people to do the solar. I was hoping to bring down our bill. Enrolling with Sunrun though took a long time. It took about four months once we decided to go ahead and do it. Sunrun said that it was the city that was delayed and when I called the city, the city would say that they were not delayed. So, it was going back and forth. Their reps had told us that after the city came and put the meter in, they wanted to be here at the same time so all the switches could be flipped on and we would be able to start right away but that didn’t happen. Also, I called customer service to tell them that their meter is erring out and I never heard anything back from them at all.

Sunrun has said that once we get hooked up with solar power, if we need to put on more panels, it wouldn't be a problem. It could be done. But finally, I got the contract after asking for it for about three months and it says that they will revisit us in two years. I’m hoping that we can get more panels put up before the two-year time because a lot of people were telling us that once we go solar, we'll start using more electricity than we normally do and it's true. The enrolment process was easy though and overall, Sunrun took care of absolutely everything. Sunrun is a company that pays for your solar to go up and works with your electrical company and you don’t have to do anything.

My power bill seemed to get higher and higher and 15 years from now, I would be paying more for that over to my house. So I'm trying to reduce this ongoing bill from Duke Energy. The Sunrun salesman, Robbie, enrolled me in their service and it went pretty smooth. He had all the information we needed to do a comparison with what we were looking at, but I didn’t like that we couldn’t get a 100% because of the roof structure of my house. But that’s okay. So far, We’ve had a good experience with Sunrun. I have one bill for Duke Energy without Sunrun for $56. And then I just had one where Sunrun billed me $104 and Duke Power billed me $25. But as soon as I get it cut out, that would make up our difference. Power is gonna go up, so having Sunrun has gotta be a good thing. I’m pleased with them and I’m hoping it continues to go that way. I also tell people about the potential savings that I hope to get in the future.

When they first turned their system on, there was a programming error and it kept shutting itself off. So I called and they were here within two hours, reprogrammed it and I haven’t had any problems since. Now we don’t have to worry so much about turning every light off and on. If we go on vacations, we can leave the light on and that makes life a little easier. We’ve recommended them to two people, and both got them installed. In fact, they’re installing for my neighbors right across the street from me today.

I looked up solar services online and Sunrun came up as one of the top solar providers in our area. I am a big stickler of reading other customers’ comments and their experiences with the company. So between that, the ratings, and being part of the Better Business Bureau, I chose Sunrun. From the beginning, Fabian, my sales guy, was awesome and I loved him. He said he just needed 30-45 minutes of my time. He came in here and we asked every question in the book. We had him here for two hours and he had an answer to everything. I was impressed. My husband cannot stand salespeople and for him, anything that comes out of their mouth is a lie. But Fabian was very thorough, informative, knowledgeable, knew what he was talking about, had prior experience with another company that he was able to share and he sold us on it.

The installation team was really good. They came out and they were done in a timely fashion. They were also neat about it and professional. I had a total of five days where I was able to monitor the amount of energy that we were generating but recently, I had three days where I had no power being generated. I contacted Sunrun and asked for an explanation and they couldn’t see anything on their end. I was told that they would be monitoring that closely and in the event that this were to happen or have any issues with either the inverter of the solar panels, they would more than likely be the ones to contact me before I contact them, which was not the case. So, I’m a little disappointed on that note, however it taught me to keep a closer eye, and that’s what I’m gonna do.

Overall so far, everything’s gone the way it was presented to me, with the exception to that one incident so, I’m hoping that it doesn’t happen again. I’m still very satisfied but I would like to know why that happened. The customer service rep was very polite and professional but not very knowledgeable. He didn’t offer much information and I was the one who was digging. We had these two instances where our power went out very briefly on two different days and it was within the last two weeks so I was thinking what could have triggered it. His guess was as good as mine so when I hung up, I felt like I didn’t have any more information than when I first called.

We just got turned on in April so it really hasn’t been that long to have any serious issues but they’re still up there with me so far and I’m still very satisfied with Sunrun up to this point. I feel a lot more comfortable that I’m doing better and hopeful that I’m gonna be saving money in the long run. But we still had single-pane windows on one side of our house. We were defeating the purpose of going solar to have single-pane windows on the house so we went ahead and we did our windows too.

We are excited because I know we’re doing something good not only for earth in itself, but also our pockets which is very important. I knew Sunrun was a good company from my own research, but Fabian confirmed what I was already reading about. He was here on the installation date as well as my brother and he told Fabian that they were in the market for a house and when they buy one, they are gonna give him a call. Fabian told him to call and he’ll see what they can do for him. That was in April and here we are in June and my brother just brought a house so, I referred Fabian over to him and they’re gonna be meeting on Monday.

I used to live in upstate New York and I had a solar heating system for years. Being in the south now, they just start pushing it with the solar. It was something I was looking forward to in a way. Sunrun was installing units in our area and mine was installed by Summit Solar. I saw how Sunrun installed units and I didn't go with them directly because I didn’t like the way they installed. They run conduit up from one side of the roof to the other and down over your eaves and down the side of your house, which is great, but it’s kinda rushed. It's just galvanized. I could also see the racks when I stood by the house. Summit did everything but Sunrun maintains. And the enrollment with Sunrun went well. The reason I didn’t go with Sunrun before is because I'm gonna retire and I wouldn’t have been able to get all of my tax rebates so I went through Summit with a lease. But overall, everything is going good with Sunrun.

I’ve been looking for solar for a long time. And I’ve seen a couple of the signs of Sunrun around the neighborhood. They also have a stand there in Costco and I thought, “Let’s see what the guy has to say”. Enrolling with them was really easy. They took care of everything. The guy at the stand at Costco had said he could have somebody come over that day. And I said fine. And the guy came over and we talked and we discussed it. I called them back a couple days later and said, “Let’s go for it”, and we signed the paper. Installation was very easy too. I asked if they didn’t need me home, and they said, “I don’t think so, but if you’re there when we get there, that’s fine.” And they took care of everything. It was eventually five hours. And the district manager who lived half a mile away came by and made sure they were doing okay.

I was very happy with my experience with them. They got the permits and they did everything. I just basically sat there and waited. And they told me what to do. The DWP came and gave their final inspection on a Sunday, which I wasn’t expecting. So their question was whether I could turn the system on or not immediately. And Sunrun had people on a Sunday and they said to go ahead and turn it on. My system’s up and running and I haven’t had any questions or problems.

We have always been interested in solar. We looked around and it was on some kind of a mailer that we first heard about Sunrun. At that time, a few people in our neighborhood had used them so we went over to them as well. So far, it has been working fine. We had some difficulty during the course of the installation though. While everything went well until the installation was done, all of a sudden, we were inundated with pigeons. It must have taken us six months to finally work with Sunrun for them to install the pigeon guards.

What happened was, they were constantly coming back with other options like we should get some tennis balls and throw them up on the roof to scare the pigeons away. They also said we could spray the panels with my hose and that would scare them away, which didn't work. And the problem was that with the way our house and roof are configured, the pigeons lie underneath the panels and do their business underneath and it would roll down and it happened to cover the sidewalk to our front door. That means I have to go out and hose it off every day.

What helped convinced them is that I was a transplant patient and exposure to all of that pigeon poop was not good for me. So they finally gave in and sent somebody out to do it. Other than that, while we never keep close track of the difference, our gauge is July and August out here in Arizona where we are paying between $250 and $300 a month in electricity. Along with the $100 that we pay Sunrun every month, we're probably paying a third less than that. So, it's huge savings.

But I couldn’t get it in Texas at that time ‘cause of government problems so I figured as soon as we could, I'd jump on board and get it. I was satisfied with what my Sunrun contact person explained to me so I signed up with them on Black Friday weekend and it got installed on February 21st, then came live in March. The installation was great. Their installers came out and knew what they were doing. They got it done outstandingly.

My latest bill before I left out of town last month was $103 but usually, it's about $90 for this time of year before it gets hot, then after this month, it gets hot and my bill gets crazy. Now, I'm looking at my Sunrun on my phone and I see how much I’m pulling in and how much I'm using. However, I still haven't gotten my $500 yet which I thought I should be having by now. My wife and I have had nothing but bad experiences with Sunrun. Their customer services is more frustrating than helpful-you have to mentally prepare for a fight with multiple agents as you get passed around. They were very responsive and friendly before we signed up and once we signed up we were not a priority and seemed to be a burden when we would contact them. The sales rep has been more helpful than the actual company... He even helped us and my mother in law receive a refund check as the amount of solar power credits they promised were not even close to what they quoted so now we have a monthly payment owed to Sunrun and a monthly payment to our power company...

We love the idea of solar power but I would use another company. If was able to change companies but keep solar I would do it in a second. I wish I would have done more research prior to signing up with Sunrun- buyers beware... I recently saw a local news station helped a viewer receive a payment from Sunrun due to their power production not being anywhere near what they promised. Only 19 more freaking years and we are done with them.

My brother next to me told me about Sunrun and said he had had it, and I wasn’t aware that they had made it for mobile homes. I had a very good and easy experience enrolling with them. The guy that was talking to me, Isaac, was very good. But getting the process done was hard, but it was not from their end, it was the paperwork from California. And the hardest part was the communication between what was going on. I was being approved but I have never still received a receipt that it was paid in full. They still think I owed, but I paid cash upfront. They told me that it takes time to catch up from whatever company to whatever company, but they’re still sending the invoices saying I need to pay the bill, and I’m not happy with that at all.

Apparently, they wanted their money right away. It was before the installation date that they had to have the money so they sent me the form quickly to mail it back in their little envelope, and it went FedEx. When I talked to their customer service, their service was fine. They told me it’s in the mail. They were just doing their job telling me what I wanted to hear, but nobody put me through to solve anything and it just hangs there. But I have wonderful things to say about Sunrun and I have recommended them very highly. Going solar was good so far. I thought I would get an electric bill but I don't have one. We use so much power and one of my friends works for Legacy Power, so she happened to have Sunrun. I called her and said that we were interested. She came up and sat with us and explained how Sunrun’s process works. We didn't wanna put out money, so we preferred the leasing option, especially because there was no money down.

The installation experience was good and they totally convinced me but I was confused because they didn't explain the energy audit very well. I thought I was waiting for an inspector who didn't show up, like an inspector to make sure it was to code. What they meant was that the person they had to do the audit didn't show up, so I had to reschedule with that company and they apologized. It wasn't Sunrun's fault. They also told me that it was typically $150 but because they hadn't shown up the day that they were supposed to, they were gonna waive that fee. I was under the impression that Sunrun would be paying for the energy audit and it was included in what we were doing. I didn't realize but had I been a normal person who they showed up for, I would've been out $150 that I wasn't prepared to spend.

We had just been in our house since July and our friend sat with us in November, so we didn't really know what our usage was and she had to go based on square footage, which was unfortunate because we were slated to use about 22,000-kilowatt hours this year. That's a lot and our system only produces 8,000. We're still paying a crazy high electric bill. It’s better than it was but certainly not where I wanted to be, so I'm gonna call Sunrun in January and get more panels.

We had solar panels in Colorado so when we moved to Arizona, I was interested in going solar as well. Enrolling with Sunrun was fairly easy and they answered a lot of my questions. We had some difficulties selling our home in Colorado with the solar panels because of the type of credit check they had for people. But we were glad to see they had made some improvements and changes. We don't want to deal with those problems when we go to sell and we were already involved in solar that we liked.

The sales rep we dealt with was very good. Troy was easy to talk to. We didn’t have any particular issues and if we did, we were able to talk to him and get them resolved. They were also efficient during the installation. We had referral fees and they handled that promptly. I would refer them to other people as well. This will be our second year with Sunrun and the only thing we're a little disappointed in is that our credits don’t carry over with the power company. They buy them back but they don’t give us much form. So we have to start over again in January to build up those credits to start paying for our power, and that takes a few months to kick in. But we had gotten the certain amount of panels according to what we use and the system takes care of us through the hot summer months so we’re happy with Sunrun.

I got tired of paying high PG&E bills and wanted to go solar. When I first installed my system years ago, REC was the installer and they picked Sunrun, the agent in charge of the solar system. I did a full pay lease on it so Sunrun owned the equipment. Enrolling with Sunrun was an easy process. My overall experience was excellent. I’m satisfied.

I wanted to save money and help with everything else environmental so I set an appointment with Sunrun and they came to my home. They told me about the services and everything seemed fine. Their rep was really nice at the beginning but they should be a little more open to customers that certain things could happen in case there's a lot of snow.

A couple of things happened around winter which I wasn’t told about. There was a lot of snow and the noise we heard was really bad. I even felt four times within the same day like the panels were coming down. Then the awning that I had in the back patio has been damaged pretty bad. It was really scary and I wasn't happy at all. Last January, their reps arrived and said they were gonna fix the awning. But it’s been more than two months and I haven’t heard much about it. Other than that, the solar panels have been working very well. The bill’s pretty much the same but come summertime, I’m supposed to start saving money every day or two.

I got interested in solar energy because I had a very high electric bill every month and I figured if I could cut that down, that would be great. It's also kind of a "save the planet" type of thing and not putting as much carbon into the atmosphere. The enrollment process went very well but I didn’t deal with Sunrun at first. SolarMax did the installation and Sunrun has taken over on the rest of the thing. Going solar has been great and it’s one of those things that I feel I did the right thing.

We had a Peaksaver system on our old house and I really liked that. And then, we had a perfect layout for a full system in our new house. Once you lease the solar panels, it’s kind of awash, so you’re not saving a whole ton of money. But if you’re gonna be paying it anyway, it might as well be making your own energy and having it from an environmentally friendly, renewable energy source. So, the practical plus the financial benefits made us decide on it.

Everybody in Sunrun was super helpful and friendly. Anytime I had a question, they answered right away. They’d give me a call and with each step, they would say that the application has been approved and what the next step is. So, they were always on top and always communicated wonderfully. I am completely satisfied with my decision to go solar and it's like we’re creating our own power. There’s a sense of satisfaction, doing something good for the planet, and just being independent in that way.

I am in Naples, Italy right now and the family of our daughter's friend stays in the house as we were helping them out with trying to save up to get their own house. The price of electricity in California is up and they said their bills are going up. My son had had a good experience with Sunrun so I decided to look into solar energy. The entire process took around three months which was a reasonable amount of time. I was there when the reps came and they kept us up to date. We have the system installed for a few months now and my the family staying at our house seems to be happy with Sunrun. We're coming back in a couple of years, so it would be less cheaper electric bill as well. I would recommend Sunrun to a friend 'cause they did everything they've said.

I just bought the house and I heard a lot of good things about going solar. It's clean energy and it's cheaper too. I went to Home Depot and I saw Sunrun's salesperson over there. I asked the guy and he came home and gave me an estimate. He also did an explanation and gave me the paperwork. He came back for my signature afterwards. Everything was fine with the enrollment. I got a phone call every approval, and for every step, I was notified ahead of time. Since the installation, it's been great too. It's cheap. We're doing $50 a month and around $14 for the company that we have a connection together. I hope it continues like this. I gave their salesperson's card to a lot of my friends.

My sister-in-law, Sandra, recommended solar energy and I knew about it and thought it was a good thing, so I went ahead and looked into it. Sandra used Sunrun as her solar energy provider, then she recommended them to me. My enrollment process with Sunrun was good and brief. I thought it would take a long time, but it did not. The customer service rep, Greg, was wonderful and very sociable. He talked to me and explained everything very well, and he has kept in touch. After the installation of my solar energy system, it has been working. I've seen a reduction in my energy bill and I like that. I’m looking forward to the summer because I use my AC a lot and my solar energy system will help me a lot as well.

We were interested in solar energy and we have heard about it for a number of years. A Sunrun salesman happened to come to the door and was talking to us, and we decided to go ahead and do it. At the time, it went fairly smooth. However, we found out later that there was information we were not told. One of those things is that there would be a lien put onto our house by Sunrun, which they didn’t say anything about. When I called and spoke with customer service, they explained about the billing cycles, which is something else the salesman did not tell us. I’m not real happy with the salesman and the fact that he didn’t give us all of the information. Knowing what we know now, we wouldn’t have done it if we had known then. We won’t recommend it to anybody.

2 1/2 years that we have been with Sunrun. In August and September of 2017 our electric bill tripled in price. It was due to their equipment failing. It was disappointing that it took them 2 months to figure that out, but I will say once it was realized. That faulty equipment was to blame. It only took 2 weeks to fix. We were told that our account would be reviewed in January for any credits due. Well January came and went and figuring they had a lot of accounts to review it was mid March when we started calling to inquire. We did receive a call back later that evening a message was left by (manager) Saying our system was operating at 101 percent. Until then we had never signed on or signed up to view our Sunrun account.

The very next day After viewing our online account we realize we weren't even coming close to what we were guaranteed to produce. So we called again. I spoke with Kelsey **, the administration supervisor. And we both viewed my account online, and she agreed with me that I was under producing. She said she would look into and she wanted to help but she was limited on the amount of credit she could offer but would contact me the following day. I never received any correspondence from her and called the company 48 hours later. And spoke with a gentleman named Grant. And after telling him the story and reviewing my account again online. He said that he would speak with his supervisor about the system, not producing what they guaranteed it to produce. He placed me on hold and about 10 minutes later he got back on the line and told me, contract had been revised. I replied, "Really? When did that happen?"

Then I said, "The contract online?" He said, "You know you should have received a revised contract." I explained to him. We received no revised contract and the paperwork I have in hand and the one I'm looking at online are the same. He tells me he emailed me the revised contract and to take a look. In the revised contract, my production of energy drastically went down, matching what I'm currently producing. And the cost of the kilo watts went up by 5 cents. Making it 20 cents per kilowatt, they are charging me. Which, I might add is the highest you could possibly pay according to the information given by APS in 2018. I am certain they weren't that high and 2015 when I signed the contract And plus all the signatures and initials on the revised contract did not match. Needless to say we were upset.

Grant Offer to help. He said he was limited to a 100 dollar credit and he would look into doing something more but needed to speak to a supervisor. Long story short. I emailed him. He responded by saying he is still looking into it and would call me. I didn't hear back. I followed up with him but never received any the communication. This whole experience has changed my opinion about Sunrun and the way they do business. Forging signatures, changing figures and prices. To this day, my supposed revise contract is still not been changed on my account. Even the system itself had been changed on the revised contract but still not changed. In one, I can view online. Makes me wonder if they are getting a bigger credit from the government each year for the larger system, they say I have, but don't really have.

Sunrun’s terms were a little bit better than other energy providers and when I set it up, the reps were very professional. During installation, I forgot my contract on our first interaction but it was a slight miscommunication that was really minor and I was the one who brought it to the account manager’s attention. Other than that, everything was smooth and straightforward. Also, for the most part, they were honest. Since having it, our bill is a little bit lower but not dramatically so. Still, we’re satisfied with the whole lot.

Costco backups their warranty pretty good so I went through Sunrun. The enrollment process went pretty good. This is my first summer with the solar panels so I'm expecting to see quite a bit of savings. Our bills are pretty fair. It's $10 a month for the portion but I just pay for the solar panel. So I pay my portion which is $145 and it's a lot cheaper. I’m pretty happy right now with Sunrun, and I have recommended them to my brother.

I had been thinking about solar energy services for a long time and had talked with a solar provider in the past. At that point, it didn't seem to work out and it seemed to click much better with Sunrun. My experience when enrolling with Sunrun was straightforward. I had a solid grasp of all the ins and outs and I was very comfortable with what was proposed and all the different options. I understood what the process would be going forward through the completion of the project.

When I had a minor problem with the unit, the customer service reps were able to help me self-diagnose and correct the deficiency, so it worked out well. By and large, I'm satisfied with my decision to go solar. The system has been nice and reliable. The workmanship of the installer was good and the impact on the billing has been noticeable. The only drawback is I was less knowledgeable about how the surrounding tree cover was gonna be impacted over the course of the longer term. I had very mature trees but I didn't think we were gonna be impacting it that much. It turned out to be more of an issue.

I may have to seek out some additional information from the company as I looked to finish out the basement where some of the equipment was placed. But I like Sunrun. They were easy to work with and did a nice, professional job. The work crew, in particular, was in and out in a very timely fashion. Overall, I was pleased with the process.
