I've been thinking about going solar for years but I wasn’t sure because of the location of my house. Then recently, I said that maybe I'd have somebody to look and see. Sunrun was recommended and the comments on the internet were good for them. The enrollment was a good experience. The only problem was they had a problem with their contractor and Sunrun had to drop them and get a new one. So that delayed the process for about three months. And while they figured out another contractor, we were isolated and there was a confusion about who was going to be the contractor in this. But we got in touch with their customer service team and our interaction was good.
The system is operating fine now and although there was only one time that it went out, they were right on it to fix it. It's also nice not having those big PG&E bills monthly. A lot of people can't afford to put one in straight out though. I paid for the whole thing for 20 years and the main reason was because I'm up in years and it would be transferred to my kids or to the new owners if they sell the house. I'm happy with mine and I'd tell others to look into it.
Thanks for contacting us, John! It's great to hear you have had such a wonderful experience and we were able to resolve your broken panel concern. We are happy to have you as part of the Sunrun family!

Stay away from this company when purchasing solar systems. They are impossible to deal with and downright fraudulent with how they deal with their customers. I purchased a home with an $80K prepaid leased system by Sunrun. One meter transmission system had already failed (seller didn't tell me, not their fault), the second meter transmission system failed a few months later. I tried for months to get them to come out, they finally did and said they couldn't fix it. Refused to replace the transmission element and refused to pay to trench to my house to get to the router (really, in today's age of electronics, they don't have a transmission system that can reach my house which is barely 100 yards away).
Told me the only thing to do is manually read the meters, so I did that weeks ago. Now they're telling me the person who handles that is out of the office until the end of August. And PG&E is going to hit me with a $3500 bill in August because they haven't been receiving the meter readings from Sunrun. Sunrun has been paid, they don't care. Their response, "PG&E has payment systems to help you." Really? You're defrauding me of the energy savings that I paid for and that's your response? Stay far away from this company.

I believe that going solar is the way to go. And based on conscience and the fact that in seven years we don't have to pay for our electricity, my wife and I decided to do it. We also have an electric car and that was factored in to select how big of an installation we needed. A family member recommended Sunrun. They also had a partnership with Costco and they've got warranty. And when we talked with them, they were very professional in the whole approach to it.
So, we enrolled with them and the process was very well divided off in stages. We were very well informed for each stage in terms of what we went through and there was only one snafu when there was some guy from the utilities that needed to do a review. There was some mix up with the dates but that didn't really affect us. We had a project lead that took us through all of it. She sent us emails and called a few times to follow up with things, so there was no problem whatsoever. Then, the installation was pain-free. It took a day then it was up. Plus, the installers cleaned up after themselves and did a good job informing us about things.
So far, we are little more keen to use electricity during the day where we get it for free and we changed the time for doing certain things because of that. For instance, I used to wash our clothes during the night but now, I wash during the day. We also used to run the pool cleaner at night but now, we do it during the day when we have the electricity. We also have a battery but we more perceive that as a back up. I have been recommending Sunrun and I have been pushing a lot of family members to go solar as well.
Thank you for contacting us, Peter. We delighted to know you had a wonderful customer experience and you are satisfied with your solar system. Welcome to the Sunrun family. Thank you for helping us create a planet run by the sun! Power Forward!

We were trying to actually save money in the long run and the solar providers were all basically in the same ballpark. But Sunrun's battery cost seemed to be more effective, price-wise. They were also able to do things quicker. Enrolling with Sunrun was a good experience and the process was very easy. The wife thought that if we put solar on the roof, all energy was free. She figured she’d keep the hot tub at 103 and keep the air conditioner at 74 and everything would be free. But I told her it's not that way. You only produce five kilowatts of energy and when you use five kilowatts of energy or more than that at any moment versus the panels, you're paying for it. But I was onboard and everything Sunrun did was great.
I did something where they lease the panels to you but they control everything. That was sold to me by a friend of the wife who works for Sunrun. That person said it's great and really fair. Basically, the warranty is 20 years and if anything goes wrong with the panels, they would fix it. My only concern is the battery. I bought one and that was another $7,500 on the deal but I don’t control the battery. Sunrun would deplete the battery down to 80%. So everyday when the highest rate pops up, they would sell the energy back to my local energy company which is PG&E. I thought I would be able to draw from the battery whenever I wanted during that period or when the sun went down. But that isn’t correct and you've got to buy energy.
I talked to their customer service people and they were friendly and courteous. But the first two people I talked to didn’t know anything. Then the third person knew everything. But she jumped so far away from what the other two people were saying and I thought she was wrong but she was actually right. Also, the salesman was insinuating that in 10 years, they would replace the battery. That’s because batteries are prescribed to last 10 years so they warranty it for 10 years. But that was not really the truth.
They came back after the deal was paid for and said they would only replace the battery if they need to. They said that since they control the battery, they're gonna do the best for it so it could last for 20 years. They said that the battery doesn’t deplete itself partially as to when we're using it. It depletes completely as to when they use it. That wasn’t in the salesman’s pitch at all but in the long run, I'm still gonna save that money whatever it was for it. I would tell others to be careful. If you do that lease and you only put panels on your roof, you're fine. Just remember, you don’t control the battery. That aside, I'm very satisfied with going solar. It works. We've had the power go out twice and the solar turns on the things that were supposed to turn on. Also, the daughter, my son and I are fine with the air conditioner at 78. But when the wife comes home, she wants it at 76. With Sunrun, we can run the air conditioner and keep her happy.

I had no issues with Sunrun until July 10th. My system stopped generating power. I realized that there was an issue on the 13th and called their customer support line. We went through some troubleshooting steps that did not resolve the problem. I was promised a callback within a few days. Fast forward to the 19th. I hadn't receive a callback. I called the customer support line again. I was told that the Sunrun techs were busy and that they would refer my case to one of their contractor. I was promised a callback yet again.
A week after calling, I still hadn't received a callback. So I called again. I was promised yet again a callback. I got a dispatch case number and the phone number for the contractor in question. And of course, I was promised a callback. I eventually called the contractor who told me that they had just received the dispatch. I am now waiting for the contractor to call me back to schedule a service appointment. So I am now 15 days without generating power and I have yet to have a service appointment scheduled. I am dreading receiving the Xcel Energy bill since the panels offset a fair amount of the power we are using. I doubt that whatever compensation I get from Sunrun would cover the difference. So basically, Sunrun is great as long as the solar system works. They are useless once it doesn't.

When approached about adding solar panels to our house by Darius ** from Sunrun we were told, "You could cancel anytime," if we got solar panels. We have been looking at other houses and knew we were not going to be in this house long term and told him this. Darius said that would not be an issue. We can cancel anytime. The panels would be removed and the roof would be returned to its previous condition at no cost to us. He showed us graphs where our electric bill would be around $15 dollars a month after adding the solar panels (we would also be paying Sunrun $59 per month). He told us the paperwork signing was a maintenance agreement, not a 20 year lease.
Now we are trying to sell our home. We cannot "cancel anytime". The customer service representative gave us the option of prepaying the next 20 years as our only way out. But the next homeowner would still have to take over the lease. He also asked if he could buy the system and she told him no. In the contract p.13 section 4.a there is an option to buy the system at fair market value. She did not present this to him. Sunrun is not interested in solving this issues or helping to transfer the contract. We have not been producing adequate levels of solar power to make a significant difference in our bill (some months it has been higher than before we got the solar panels) or cover the cost of the Sunrun monthly payment. We were lied to.
Thank you for your feedback, Jessica. This is disheartening to hear of your dissatisfaction regarding the terms of your agreement. A Specialist has sent you private message in regards to your concerns.

I was looking to save money and I started looking into solar energy providers. I had a friend that had used Sunrun and they said they were a good company. I enrolled with Sunrun and they were very upfront and cordial and they came out to the house. The installation process went well. They were very fast. We had a little problem with one of the panels not working. Their rep came out within the day, and he even texted me a picture saying, “Yes, it’s all good now.” Our experience with going solar is going very well. Our bill has gone down tremendously. The summer months are not as good as other months, but we understand that with the heat. Sunrun takes care of their business.

Updated on 02/01/2019: It has been a year now and I have an apples to apples comparison on a 9 month block of time. After being told how much I would save every year, I ended up paying $400+ more than the previous. I tried to have this conversation a while ago when I wasn't seeing any savings and their customer service department did not ever respond to my emails. I sent another email last week about my situation now having solid data to back it all up, and no response. Disappointed to say the least as I thought the owner (initial contact) was a solid guy and wanted to use a smaller company that was supposedly local. Really trying to do something to reduce my carbon footprint, breaking even would have been fine, actually. However, now I'm digging into my pocket for an extra $400/year and watching my sister saving a few $$ a month after she went with a national company. Disheartened.
Original Review: I initially had a great experience with the salesperson, whom I believe was the owner. He was very organized, polite, explained the system in detail, and how my bills would be affected. The process to get the panels installed took longer than I anticipated, but that doesn't mean it was too long. I don't believe I was educated enough on the process of installing solar panels, and overall I wasn't too concerned that the process was longer than expected. I've had the panels up and running now for about 5 months and noticed one thing...I'm paying more for my electricity now than I was before the panels.
I've waited to let the system become 100% operational, but still don't understand why I'm paying as much as I am...or more importantly...more than the salesperson explained I would pay to APS. Finally, I've tried to contact their customer service several times to discuss this. I don't know if there is something wrong with the system, if there were changes in my APS account I wasn't aware of, whatever the reasons... I just wanted to hear from someone to talk about possible answers.
It's been over a month since I received an email telling me a rep would be calling me. I've received one email response explaining what they thought could be the answer in very general terms. Their theory was wrong and I could have told them that quickly if I would have been called and we could have looked at other possibilities. The only assistance I have really gotten was someone from their customer service team looking for help reviewing a prototype webpage to help the consumer. However, I'm still paying more than I anticipated/was promised, and still have the same questions.
Thank you for your contact, Andy! When it comes to your utility bills we cannot promise you will pay a specific amount because that is dependent on your own usage. A Specialist has reached out to you to see if we can tackle your savings concerns together!

Sunrun installation coordinators were very nice and easy to work with giving me frequent updates. Once the system was up and running and they had me committed with a contract the quality customer service ended. Shortly after the system was running I noticed after doing some research that the meter was wired backward giving a negative value when it shouldn't. Sunrun told me several times that is was ok. It wasn't until I sent them a copy of the Lucas meter installation manual that they agreed to come out and make it right. Easy job done in about 20 minutes.
Now after running for a while I noticed via the monitoring app that even when I had plenty of battery I am pulling power from the grid. I have contacted customer service many times about this. One and only one customer service reps said that it shouldn't be doing that. The rest just say that they will have someone contact me. This has been going on for at least a month now with no resolution. On top of that now my Sunrun monitoring app shows zero solar power production even though it is producing enough to charge the batteries on a sunny day. On another section of the monitor app it shows power production at a much higher KWH than is even possible.
One of the customer service reps noted that they used a Lucas meter while the inverter is SolarEdge equipment and thought that was kinda strange. I don't have any way of telling if my system is doing what I am paying for. I am still paying the power company albeit much less than I was. I don't have any confidence that Sunrun places any value on the customer or intention to take care of their equipment once the service is energized. If you chose to go with Sunrun I hope your experience is better than mine.
Thank you for your feedback, Keith. We can certainly understand your frustration, especially if you feel you are not seeing the benefits of going solar. We would like to better research this for you further. A Specialist has sent you a direct message.

Had to have solar panels removed in order to have our roof replaced. Spent 13,000 on a new roof. Upon reinstalling the solar panels they misjudged the placement of the panel brackets and drilled holes in my new roof. They tried to tell me they were safely brackets. Had my roofer out to inspect and he said, "No they are not." Now it’s going to cost me 350.00 to fixed. Tried to call Sunrun. They won’t return my call!

I had two conversations with Sunrun. The first, I said that since I had notified them that there were pigeons under the panels they would have someone install barriers. The customer service person said that since it was not turned on yet they could do it. That was about 2.5 weeks ago. #2: I talked to another customer service person today and in effect said that they will not do it. If it is not resolved to my satisfaction I want the panels taken off the roof. I know that there is a lease agreement. I will use whatever legal means to nullify it if barriers are not put around the solar panels.
Thank you for reaching out to us, Edgar. We are sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction regarding your critter situation. Thank you for allowing me a chance to turn this experience around.

I was very impressed with Sunrun. They were the first ones that contacted me when I was ready to listen. At that time, I was so mad at Indi Energy. They were even had to be taken to court to allow Sunrun or anybody to come into the state. We've had power outages because they don’t have enough energy. And when somebody took them to court and the court told them, Indi Energy backed down.
When I enrolled with Sunrun, I started with Russell who's in Arizona. He's very knowledgeable. In every conversation, he answered all my questions. He prepared me for what was coming up. Then during the actual installation, there hasn't been one gentleman who has not performed admirably. I'm in Nevada and the temperature here gets horrible, but they were up on the roof and were not wasting their time. Dave, one of the very nice gentlemen and who was the team lead, did the installation of the units on the side of the house and the job was perfect. In fact, the people next door went with somebody else and the stucco around their unit does not look like near as good as ours.
Since I have been through the process once, it was easier to work with Sunrun with my rental. Everything went perfectly. They did it all in one day just the same way they did with my primary residence. And then we had to wait for Indi Energy. It just so happened the day that Indi Energy showed up, I was at the rental. Their representative went over, checked out everything and then he told me that Sunrun is the best company. They do the best work they had ever seen. Soon, everything was ready for activation and I told them that I'll let my people know that it's ready. Their representative even offered to walk me through even though he can't do the activation. He told me the three sets of buttons that I had to push and flip and then it's up and running.

I thought about going solar to lower electric bills and enrolling with Sunrun was easy. The salesperson who came out to my house said there was a $250 gift certificate and then somehow, I was gonna cancel because they had to add more equipment. But then the rep Michael offered us $500. But suddenly now, he gave us $250. It was just a verbal agreement but the issue was all taken care of and I'm waiting to hear back from him on that.
During the installation, I had to go to work so they just installed the solar panels on top of the house and had to wait for APS to come and check it out and say it was okay to turn them on. And it took about a month and a half to get everything taken care of. My last electric bill was 180. I have received two and I paid 70 and 105. And they’re good. The first month I received $17 and this month I received $4 so I’m really happy with that. The people at Sunrun were professional, they got the work done and they got the system up running. I probably would recommend Sunrun but one should get things in writing.
Thanks for reaching out, Frank! We sincerely appreciate you sharing your positive experience. We can certainly use your feedback to improve. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to turn things around. Welcome to the Sunrun family!

Home Solar Installation - 06/06/18, Wednesday. The Sunrun team arrived with 3 vehicles and 8 workers. Initially there was a problem on where to put the inverters and associated equipment. The Supervisor and I discussed options and concerns. Finally, a location just behind the fence gate was chosen. They went to work without delay and I was very impressed with the work ethic… In fact, I don’t think I observed them ever taking a break and I came out once every half hour to an hour to observe and to photograph the progress.
Most of the work in the beginning is on preparing the roof for the solar panels… measurements, anchor and attach points, cutting rails to size, wires, conduit, and of course, installing the inverters on the side of the house. There is a lot of preparation work that has to be done that most people will not notice unless they watch all the time. A midday shower with lightning did interrupt work for an hour. Because of their continuous work, I bought them lunch so they can relax and enjoy it during the rain. They finally quit fairly late and would be back the next day.
06/07/18, Thursday. The team returned (all the way from Tampa) at 9:30 and got right to work again. This is when everything started coming together. This is when I got to observe their honesty and integrity. Apparently one of my portable solar LED lights was damaged the day before without me noticing it. They purchased a new one and gave it to me with their apologies for breaking the old one. I have hired many professionals that have broken some of my equipment. Rarely would they even mention it leaving me to find out long after they were gone.
Every time I came out to see what was going on, you could see more and more panels installed. The equipment on the side of the house was finished and the installation looked absolutely perfect. Again it appeared that no breaks were taken until the very end when too many people could hamper the final work. Testing was done to make sure the panels were producing power. I was given instructions on how to operate the system and when I could expect the final approval to turn the system on to produce my own energy. The team finished up around 1:30 pm, cleaned up the area and then I took them out for a late lunch before they had to head back to the warehouse.
Total Impression. I have always wanted to have a solar panel installation and I have previously gotten estimates from different places. As with the other companies, I got the Sunrun estimate and through several cycles of exchanging information, I started to question the amount of money for the whole project. It wasn’t until after the project was finished that I realized the amount of work that goes into it. Much of this is behind the scenes work that you may or may not see. Some of those items are work permits and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that working with local and federal governments can be a pain in the rear.
Other behind the scenes work are calculating previous total power usage, house orientation and roof angles, plus engineering and construction plans take up many hours to figure out how to generate the most power using the least amount of panels. Then, the installation of using 8 workers for nearly two days of labor, the inverters, panels, wiring, anchors, rails and everything that goes into this project to make it a reality… this is when you realize the amount of money needed to buy the equipment, pay the workers and still make a profit for the company.
The very next day, Matt, a Sunrun representative, called to outline the remaining steps to the day when I can turn on the system. My contacts, Chris, Maegen and Matt have helped me through the entire process and their efforts are truly appreciated. I am very impressed with the quality, integrity and professionalism of the workers in this project. June 20, 2018. I knew it would be almost two weeks before I get the new meter from the power company but I received a notice saying that the paperwork was not correct because of the classification tier of my project. I notified my reps, Maegan, Chris and Matt via email about the problem. June 22, 2018. Great customer service. The paperwork was finished AND my new meter was installed and I am getting my energy from the sun.
The only negative I have for Sunrun was the fact that if my commercial power fails for any reason, then I don't get the benefits of my solar panels. This was not clearly explained to me. Since I live in Florida where there is a chance of hurricanes, or lightning will take out the power in the local area or the many stupid drivers here will take down a power pole... this was pretty darn important to me. Knowing that in advance would not have changed my mind, I would have looked for other ways to provide power in such an event. I recently found out that the State of Florida is now allowing Sunrun to add a battery system to their systems. This would allow you to continue generating power to your home even when commercial power is out. Had I known this before, I would have added it to my system.

I had several neighbors that had solar energy and I knew they were really pleased with it. One told me about and how much he was saving and helping the environment and we decided to look into it. All of our neighbors had Sunrun so I didn't even research companies because I knew my neighbor who started it had thoroughly researched and was very happy. She's had it for a couple of years so I thought that's enough reason. It was all based on her recommendation. The enrolment process was extremely easy because Sunrun took care of everything. But the process took a long time. The inspector guy was sick then the electric company had to come about and they had to change something and then the electric company had to come out again. It was from November till April to get the solar energy turned on.
During the installation, the installers showed up in the morning. They said that they were going to start 'cause it's supposed to rain and they started working. We figured they would have to come back the next day but they apparently sat in their truck while it rained. I was impressed that they stayed, had their lunch and waited for an hour so they finished it in one day. We've been very satisfied with our decision to go solar. However, the electricity would flicker a lot during the first six weeks and we were really concerned. It even shut off our computer a couple of times. I made a phone call and Sunrun said I need to take a picture of what the meter was saying and depended it resolved itself. But I think it was just our power window stored enough. With Sunrun, we're saving $70 a month and I like having it and using the natural environment to create power. They did an excellent job all the way and I've already recommended a couple of people to them.

I was walking around Home Depot when I first heard about Sunrun. I was in the process of buying a house then I walked by and thought it would be a good idea. I talked to their guy a little bit and he let me know about the system. I have a lot of friends who are on solar and they were all with another company. I would like to see what Sunrun has and when I got the house all finalized, I signed up with them.
Everything has been going well so far. I let the system go up and it was turned on. The project coordinator said that I would have to wait a week or a little bit longer so I could start monitoring the system. When the app finally connected, it was working for a couple of days but my solar panels were saying zero so I called their customer service. They told me that my system was working fine so I told them what was my issue and they said they were gonna work on it. I called back again and they said that they fixed the issue but it only worked for one day then it went back.
But my batteries are discharging when the sun is still strong which doesn't make sense. The house is taking power from the grid when there’s only a fridge or a radio or a router modem on and only one person at home. I was told it does that when the solar panels' not providing enough for the house. It also said 20 on top of the contract but they said 19 was the finalized so I was confused about that, too, although that one was all settled.
If someone asks me about Sunrun, I would tell them that it wouldn’t be good. I called and I got hung up on three times. And every time, they put me on hold to do a little research. I would understand if we were talking and it hung up but every time I got put on hold, it hung up. Also, customer service has gotta stop using two to three days if they're not gonna really call back or email. It has been a week and I still don’t have a tech scheduled to come to check out my equipment.
Thank you for your contact, Sherwin! We understand service issues can be incredibly frustrating. A specialist has sent you a direct message regarding your account.

My bills were averaging $350 every month and as my kid are getting older, they will most likely watch more TV and consumer more energy. The energy is getting more expensive so it makes sense to go into solar. People from Sunrun saw me back to back and the customer service was good. The lady was always calling me back to keep me updated on the process. And they were very flexible on the date. But I always thought that all the equipment would be inside the garage and at the last minute they told me no because we're under new regulation on my location. The county was basically telling people to do it outside the garage. Sunrun should make sure to tell the customer at an early stage where the equipment will be. Other than that, the service was great and I'd definitely recommend Sunrun to friends.
Thank you so much for reaching out, Pedro. Your support is so crucial for us, as a growing company. We appreciate you giving us the opportunity to provide you with solar. Welcome to the Sunrun family.

This house was originally intended to be a vacation house. It's 100 years old and it's usually 200% humidity on the eastern that it consumed large amounts of electricity. We had a belief that solar energy is a better way to go in terms of using natural resources, so, in addition to the specific needs we had, it was also a general sense that it was the right thing to do. I narrowed down which company I wanted to work with to put our Solar on our house. The company suggested Sunrun, so I did a bit of homework on the way up and liked what I saw.
The enrolment process with Sunrun was done very easily. I'm very comfortable with doing things over the web and they made the process all the way from sign off to keeping me informed of what was going on to telling me what the next steps were. It was very simple. They had that thought through the process of how to arrange the distance relationship and it worked very smoothly.
At one point, I was curious as to how long something was going to take in terms of once the installation was done, so I called Sunrun. I spoke to a person and they asked me three questions and immediately got to what I was asking and curious about. She was knowledgeable and knew how to answer my question and, at the same time, wanted to be certain that if I had any concerns, that I could call her back.
We only had one slight problem during the installation. This house has a very high pitched roof. There were two people climbing up on this roof, having to be suspended and having to dig in their feet to keep them in place. When they installed the racks, everything went fine, but when they installed the panels, they got them off-center because the middle of the roof has another adjoining roof come on to it. And my wife didn't want to look at it for the next 50 years.
So, we called Sunrun back and sent them the picture. They came out two days later and fixed it. It has worked beautifully and exactly as I was told it would. And when something went wrong, they fixed it immediately. The month before they did the installation was the highest electric bill we've ever had here. The next month, we paid $47 and this month, we paid $13. I love Sunrun and this has been a really great experience.
We love to hear this, Richard! Thank you for taking the time to share! Our aim is to provide the best customer experience that means meeting all expectations. We appreciate you giving us the opportunity to turn things around. Cheers for helping us create a planet run by the sun!

Overall, SunRun seems to have pretty decent reviews, and maybe we just got a dud of a salesperson, but our experience was not good at all. After a 30 minute or so in-home sales call, one in which the salesperson couldn't get his software to work, we were told we'd get a proposal the next day. I had to follow up with him. He told me that they took another look at our roof and it looked like they couldn't do it, but he would elevate it to the design team. It's been several days, and the salesman won't even return my emails. Other companies don't seem to think our roof was such a problem.
Thank you for your feedback, Wendy. I was able to review your account, and speak with the sales representative. He informed me that he spoke with your regarding your account. We are sorry that the communication was not to your expectations. This feedback will be passed along to our management team as an area of opportunity to improve.

My brother-in-law works at Sunrun but I still did my homework and compared different companies. Going with Sunrun, it was a very easy enrollment. Everybody was efficient. From the salesperson to the customer service to the installers to the woman informing me via email when things were gonna happen, I was always able to call somebody if I had any questions. And all my questions were answered in a timely manner. When I didn't understand something, they would reiterate and explain it. They never made me feel like I was bothering them. They were polite and considerate.
The process from start to finish was amazing and I was pleasantly pleased with everything. Now, I'm saving money and producing my own energy. My bills are a lot less. I would recommend Sunrun to anybody anytime. I'd tell anyone asking about my experience with Sunrun before, during and after. If they'd want to see the information that I received from other places, I can give that to them as well.

I wanted to go solar but I couldn’t afford it or get a bank loan for it. And the other thing is you have to pull your own permits and that’s almost impossible. You're made to jump through some gigantic hoops to generate power. You're made to get this gigantic cutoff switch and that's completely ridiculous. This just costs you a lot of money and it doesn’t have to be so. You're intimidated out of it. Sunrun made it easier. I liked the whole option that I could buy the panels from them if I wanted to. It was really a good deal. If I had a little money, I would because I think it wasn’t even that much.
My experience with Sunrun has been pretty good. They sent over a rep and he went through it with me. He gave me lower pricing than I was getting from HELCO. I signed a contract and the process was pretty easy. But it wasn’t made really clear to me that I was still gonna get a bill from HELCO. I didn’t know about that. Also, I was originally told the solar panels were gonna be installed within a couple of months. It, however, ended up taking a couple of years because HELCO did everything they could and were in cahoots with the billing department to stop Sunrun from cutting in on their territory.
There were some glitches with the billing for a while and it was kind of hard to pay online but it's gotten better. It took Sunrun a while to get their system up to speed and get the bugs out of them. But I was really happy with it. It lowered my bills by about a quarter so that’s significant. With Sunrun, it's been a positive thing. I was off grid for about 20 years before I bought this house so I was very used to it and I had really small systems. And it’d be nice if I could just disconnect from the grid completely and buy the system from Sunrun. Maybe someday, I'll be able to do that.
I recommended Sunrun to a bunch of friends because they offered a cash incentive for it. I told anyone that asked about them how much I'm paying less on my utility bills. They gave me an offer when I got it about how I could purchase the panels from them and every year that purchase price gets adjusted. And it gets almost to zero by the end of the 15-year contract from what I understand because they're figuring that the commercial use of the panels is done by then. I might consider at the end because there are plenty of panels on my roof and I could probably get another 20 years out of them.
Thank you so much for your review, Jeffrey. We are so pleased to hear that you have had a positive experience so far. Solar is certainly a new industry and we continue to grow. We appreciate the opportunity to provide you with clean energy. Welcome to the Sunrun family.

I was very satisfied with my decision to go solar with Sunrun. They were least costly than SunPower. And their panels aren’t quite as efficient but the company itself is very efficient. And during the installation, I told them that I didn’t want to have a Tetris-looking system. I've seen some really screwed up looking designs on people’s roof. Based on the way that my roof was, they had to make two rectangles instead of just a big one which I was fine with because I didn’t have six little rectangles placed where there are almost all of the rectangles but there's one panel missing. I was very happy with the way that they did it all. Also, I'm getting the benefits that I expected from the system.
However, the problem I have with them is that they told me that if I sign up for an ACH draft where they’d take the money directly out of my account every month, it would be $7.50 cheaper. I figured that in 20 years, that's going to add up. So I went with it despite me normally doing my stuff on BillPay. However, I specifically told them that I had to have it come out at the beginning of the month because I'm on disability and I get my check once a month at the end of the month. But it seemed like the girl I was talking on the phone only cared about getting my routing and checking number and she wasn't doing anything to make that happen. But then I gave them my routing and checking account numbers.
What ended up happening was, they took out two months’ worth of payment not at the beginning of the month like I said but at the end of the month and it hit my bank account when I didn’t have any money left. My system was turned on by the beginning of January and in March they sent me a statement saying I owed them $400. So, my account was overdue because I wasn’t counting on it and it was really messed up. Then, charges got bounced at my bank because of it. All of a sudden I have hundreds of dollars of overdraft charges and bad accounting with my bank because of that. And then, just recently I looked on the statement and there was an extra $7.50 charged.
I emailed the customer service about it and they told me that that happened because I didn't sign up for the ACH draft. I told them I did and that I gave them my checking account and my routing numbers. So I'm not very happy about that at all. They should do something to make it right because that really screwed me up.

It made sense that we're prepaying our power bill for 10 or 12 years to pay the thing back. We should have done it years ago. My daughter had Sunrun put in their equipment and they were happy with everything. They did a lease system and we did a purchase system. But they were happy with everything that Sunrun had done and everything. I heard the industry, especially at the event I went to in California, and Sunrun always came on the top side. They were always the good guy to other company.
People called and handled pretty much everything. They emailed me the schedule, what was gonna happen and how they were gonna do it. And every once in a while people would call me and say, “Hey, we're gonna be there on such and such a day.” They take care of everything. In order to put the new equipment in, they had to change our whole meter panel and everything associated with that and they handled that well too. All the people that we interacted with were knowledgeable, including their sales guy or the girl that constantly let us know where they were and what they were doing and scheduling.
The guys that installed it were perfect. They were really clean as far as the work that they did. They didn’t leave any scrap laying around. They were there when I breezed through the house one afternoon and doing the work and I talked to him for five minutes or so, but they were all real friendly, real nice and safety conscious. I would recommend them.
They called us to tell us that everything was done and we said, “Yeah, we’d already turned it on.” We already thought we had everything running properly. I still have a couple of questions about getting it online. I don't know if that’s something they do or something we do. I just haven't had the time to call them back while I'm standing there at it. But I wanted to be able to read all the stuff and I know they can read the meter. They're getting all of their information electronically because I logged into my user account or whatever it is with Sunrun and I'm able to look at our production. It was expensive ‘cause we purchased the system rather than leasing it but it was probably the right thing to do. As far as producing our own power, that’s great. We've been doing it as a company for years. We do it commercially on remote mountaintop sites but not good connected systems.
Sunrun has been doing it for a quite a while and they know what they're doing. They were an easy company to work with. I didn’t have to deal with any little crap that came up. They took care of everything and would let me know what they were doing and how they were doing it. And me being in the industry, I'm aware of every little thing that they're doing and they did all the stuff properly.

A lot of people have solar energy services around here and when the sales rep, Joel, from Sunrun came, he was wonderful and knowledgeable. He didn't pressure us and I liked that. We saw him in January and within that month, we contacted with each other back and forth. For any questions I had, I was able to text him or call him anytime and he always got back to me. If the world was made up more of him, it would be a nice place. He cared what he does and about the customer. It was not just about selling the product.
Before we signed anything with Sunrun, we searched on Google and decided to try them. If we got screwed, then we got screwed. But Joel was so nice and entrusting in his own company that he works for. I never inquired about solar energy services since I figured that we had to buy the panels, which we can’t afford. We're in our 60s and I'm not gonna do something like that to my house at this point. But out of all the people who kept telling us not to do it and that it was a scam, I kept calling Joel and asking him if he was sure about their services. He said that he also has solar energy service at his home and that it's not a scam.
Everyone told me that in 20 years, it would not be good and that there would be new ones. But in 20 years, I'm gonna be 80 so who cares then? That’s for the next homeowner. I may not be here in 20 years. Although going solar is not saving me thousands of dollars, it's still saving me hundreds. And $50 a month for the next 20 years when we're on a fixed income would be another bill that I could be paying. We have nothing to lose. I had just put a new roof and it was the right time to go solar.
When the sun is out and if somebody keeps the TV on, as we always try to watch, I would tell those people to turn that off as we're using bytes here. But I don’t have to worry about that anymore. My bill used to be $151 every month because we were on a budget and I didn’t like PSEG because when we had storm Sandy, they weren't helpful to us. Now, I don’t need them as much, so going solar has worked for me. With Sunrun, I'm paying $103 as opposed to $151.
More people are going solar now since there really is no cost out of pocket. It was always a $20,000 or $30,000 investment and at this age and I can't do that. But we felt that having a solar energy service was an improvement to the home and hopefully if we have to sell, it would be a seller’s point. We talked about going solar with our relatives and we felt more knowledgeable about it. My cousin, who is an engineer, asked how the panels are hooked up to the side that we have where the boxes are. I told him that I didn't know how, but that Sunrun hooked it up and we use it the same way just like the electricity. I saw a battery generator I liked at Home Depot, so when the lights go out, the generator is there. I inquired about it with Sunrun, but they said they didn’t offer that kind of generator. But other than that, the overall experience with Sunrun was nice. We’ve had them since March and so far, so good.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Iris. We are so appreciative of your kind words! We are thrilled that you took a chance on Sunrun and we're excited for our journey together. Welcome to the Sunrun family!

The pricing was considerably higher than the salesman told me and makes my total power cost more than plain power company bills. I was working with the AGR Group and when I was looking for other opportunities, they mentioned Sunrun. I looked into it and decided I wanted to work with them on that. Sunrun’s a classy, great company. They have the best clarity on what they do. They call it transparency and that’s refreshing. They also operate efficiently and that’s a sign that the company’s gonna be doing well in the long run. There’s really no other choice if you wanna do solar. You will be taking a big risk if you go with anyone else. We liked Sunrun the best so we’re working well with them and trying to make it a big part of our life.
We were working in Fresno and it looked like a really good place for solar. Enrolling was easy and convenient because Sunrun has everything online. The training materials and modules are also well thought-out and that makes it a lot easier to do at your own pace. The customer service reps are also easy to speak to. They speak English and you can understand them. Our customers really value that and that’s a big plus for them.
Sunrun went above and beyond what was expected on the installation and it has been working well. However, the meter was moved from the back of the house over to the side, and the back is still covered with plastic. I’m trying to get a cover put on the meter location and I reached out to them about two months ago but I haven’t been successful on getting that straightened out. That aside, going solar with Sunrun is gonna save me money. It's also something I can talk about and I can be up with the times with people I know.

Solar energy service is like remove the carbon footprint. Also, I was looking at the PG&E prices and PG&E electric prices were pretty high compared to what we have with solar energy. Sunrun's pricing was very competitive and it's a pretty solid foundation. It's not a company which recently started. Also, it was a recommendation from my friend so we chose them. The enrollment was pretty smooth and coordinated. The customer service rep, Anthony, was very helpful with everything and with the multiple options giving all the pros and cons of each.
I started some time in October last year and they could install only in mid-April. We had to get a city approval and we were trying to reach out and provided all the document. The folks from Sunrun helped a lot to expedite and it took their own time. Other than that, all the other experience from different hand-off was very clear. And I'm pretty excited that we are now generating our own electric energy. I just got my first monthly bill with the month of May and my PG&E bill was pretty low compared to what I used to pay. Also, there were some additional panel that we needed to install because there are panels that are very old and those were taken care of pretty well. I'm pretty happy with what we have right now with Sunrun and the way it is working.
I already recommended two of my friends. They asked me how much was my bill reduced and how comfortable was the whole process. I told them I found that there was no hassle from outside, through customer service, to the installation team and inspection team. Everything was aligned properly. But it is not like today I signed up and it would be installed the very next week. It takes a lot of time. It is not only the design team and they follow all the compliance. At the end of the day, you still need to have patience to get something better.

I have had better quotes from other vendors but I went with Sunrun because of the backing up by Costco. And what I learned about them locally is that they have a good support system. They were very efficient throughout the process and they made it very smooth.
The sales guy, Luke, was always in touch with me for anything in the process and the team who came to do the installation was very nice. So overall, they were prompt with the follow-up and in answering my questions. I knew a lot about solar but still I had some questions. And every time I had a question, they would come up with an explanation and they were ready to discuss with me also. Plus they’re totally professional. They are in total control of what they want to get done. I had a concern about where to place the inverter because there's a lot of sunlight ending up by the trees. Sunlight is not good. But then they were able to answer my questions. So I would definitely recommend them. My electricity bill has gone down significantly. They did a great job and so far I'm very happy.

He seemed very knowledgeable about the business and operations. He also treated us with dignity and utmost respect. He answered all my questions and convinced me, so I decided to go with them and their sign up process was easier than I expected. Their installers also came at the time they were supposed to come and didn't leave a mess. They also did exactly what they said they were gonna do which meant a lot to me because many companies nowadays promise everything and give nothing. I wanted to do the right thing for the planet and for my pocket so I researched on putting solar on my house. I picked a few different companies and Sunrun was one of them. The sales rep that I spoke to there was extremely honest. I didn’t feel like he was trying to sell me something more than I needed. The enrollment process with Sunrun was a bit long though. Because my credit score was two-point shy of qualifying for their lease, I had to take the whole year to try and repair that small percentage of my credit. But once I got set up for the lease, the process was quick. It all happened within about six weeks. Brian has been a Godsend. He worked with me for over a year to make sure that I was able to get this to happen. And the install team was extremely professional as well.
On the other hand, I qualified for a gift card through Costco and it still hasn’t arrived. I have been talking with the customer service team for about a month and I've been told the gift card would arrive next week for a few weeks now. But it's okay. It's in progress. DO NOT use this company unless you prefer waiting a minimum of 2 weeks anytime there is something wrong with your system. Of which I was just told on the phone by a rep that I was being punished for late payments and that's why it took so long for someone to come out. WTF is that! Stay away from this company, they are totally disorganize and expert the users to know how to operate a solar system from the get go without any information on how to make things work proper. They do not communicate within their organization as far as their tech support and billing. Customer service is extremely rude and totally not willing to take responsibility for their failed actions.
My system is still not active after paying off a back due bill which I did not pay because I was never able to see any stats on the system actually working on my new home. I told customer service I would not be paying the bills until I could see some actual proof that I was receiving solar energy, they told me the reason I could not see any stats for the past 5 months of usage was because they never connected my email address to the account properly and therefore the system would not show me stats.
After they admitted that's why I could not see any information on my account they told me it was my fault for not calling them (which I did to complain) and that they will NOT backdate anything and that they will only discuss the account moving forward once the back bill were paid. I was being asked to pay for a system that was not even connected to my electrical grid for 5 months. Over $700 I had to pay in order to even get them to come back and turn the system back on. They shut it off without any warnings and or phone calls or emails to let me know it would be shut off.
When I last spoke with them I was told that it's not on, then I said well a tech just came to the house and told me it was back on. Then the rep told, "Oh yes I can see that but it's not showing us any data. Maybe it needs to be updated." After that I asked how long would it take as it took 2 weeks prior for a tech to come turn it on, rep told, "That's because you're being punished for non-payment but since your account is back to reg status we will send someone right away." So they screw my account up and then punish me. Absolute garbage company

I was always interested in solar energy services. Our neighbor works for Sunrun, so he got us started on it. And once I got talking with him a bit more, it piqued my interest more and I decided that it was the time to do it. When I enrolled with Sunrun, I talked again with our neighbor and he set everything up for us. The experience was smooth. He came over and talked to us about the system and explained how it works. He also explained the financing and once we saw the numbers, it was almost a no-brainer. Solar providers are all similar in some ways, but, since I knew my neighbor and he gave me some background, it helped.
I’ve talked to a couple of people with Sunrun’s customer service team on the phone throughout the process and our interaction was great. Everybody has been really good. Since the installation, I’ve been looking at what a production is and have seen what we’re saving from month-to-month. It has only been a couple of months now so it’s hard to get a big picture idea, but, in the short term, it is really helping out. Sunrun has saved me money and it has been helping save the environment a little, in a way. Being on the forefront of renewable energy as a whole, we really need to go towards to get away from things like fossil fuels and current ways of generating electricity. Any little bit can help.
Everything has been great and it has been a really smooth transition to it and everything from start to finish has been done well. We didn’t do anything. We just sat back and watched the whole process go on, so it was easy. I’ve already recommended Sunrun to several people. I would also give my friends whatever little knowledge I have at this point about the whole system, like how it works and what they can potentially save with it and the reasons for doing it.

However, here in Fresno, it's been fairly cool and the primary electrical cost are cooling systems. So I haven't used solar energy yet. But my regular electrical bill reduced substantially.

We saw an advertisement of Sunrun in Costco and contacted them through Costco. We were already looking at going with another provider, but we decided to get a competitive second bid. And not only was Sunrun a better fit for us, they provided more solar panels at a lower price. And they had fantastic customer service and great people as well. The whole experience was great. They came here and they walked me through the process. There was a series of many crews who came in and they did a fantastic job. They left the area clean and even took care of dry-walling and making the house actually look better than it was before they even got here.
They were also open to my suggestions. For example, the other company had given me one diagram for the ideas of how they would put the solar panel. Sunrun suggested a different way. And I took pictures over a series of a week. And then sent the Sunrun representatives and engineer pictures, and made a different suggestion. And then they took all of those and actually came out with the final plan that was a variation of all of them so that I would get the best or the most sun for our solar panel. They left to get it done further even though it took extra time. And they just were very supportive, so I greatly appreciated that. We’ve already told others to definitely go with Sunrun and leave the others behind. Sunrun definitely is the best price and you get the best product. You get a 20-year warranty, too. So no one can beat Sunrun in this area.

I was approached by Sunrun at Costco. After I told them that I was interested, I was contacted by the representative of Sunrun, Anthony **. He came to the house with the presentation for signing up with Sunrun. We were interested in buying. Not leasing. One of the promises that got our attention was the guarantee that Sunrun would be responsible for any damages caused by Sunrun’s solar panels to our roof. However, when Anthony sent us the contract to sign, we were surprised by the limitation of liability clause which stated that Costco and Sunrun will on be liable for up to 20k for any damage caused by Sunrun to our house.
After contacting Anthony, not only he gave me the car salesman pitch, he guaranteed me that what he was saying was true and that Costco and Sunrun are large companies with large umbrella of insurance coverage. I asked Anthony that what he saying was true then he wouldn’t mind sending us an email outlying what he was saying. He said he would contact his boss first, Christopher **. He also provided Christopher ** contact info. After multiple texting and email to Anthony **, Christopher ** and Moses **, we still have no reply from anyone of them. Be careful of what promised by Sunrun and what’s in the contract. For a big company to play bait and switch is very disappointing.
Thank you for letting us know about this, Ken. I've reached out to our sales team to provide your feedback, it is our goal to provide the best to our customers (including potential ones) and it's disheartening to hear you did not receive this.

Somebody from Sunrun called me and we went over the project, what it entailed, and there were lots of follow-up emails. Then their rep said they would look at my house and make sure that it was a good candidate for solar, which it is. There was nothing over my roof and then they made a plan, showed me the plan, and I approved it. And then, they sent the technicians out to install the panels. The technicians were fine. There was a team leader who was the contact while they were here. At one point, I asked him to look at the flashing on my chimney because I wanted to make sure it was okay up there. They did look at the chimney and said everything looked fine. So far, everything is working. Every time I plug something in, it works. They did a nice job, they were available for questions and they were professional. Overall, the service was very good.

We wanted to get a solar energy service to save money over time. A Sunrun vendor in the neighborhood came over to the house and explained it to us. Everything was very easy with the enrollment process with Sunrun. It was all seamless and all we had to say was “Yes”, and they were there to do everything. The installation was very easy as well. All we had to say was a day when we were available and it was next Wednesday. Then they said they would be there and we didn't have to be. But I showed up anyway just to see how they were doing.
They did the job on their own and there was nothing broken. I couldn’t even tell that the solar panel was there until I had to go really looking for it. I knew where they were gonna go on our house but you can’t really see that side so you’d have to go look. So they did a really good job with that. They were trying to hide it by keeping it out of sight and running all the pipes and everything matched with the house. You can’t even really tell that anything had changed.
Originally when we were turning the system on, I’d missed a step on my end, and I had to call the customer service team and ask if the thing was even on. They said that happens all the time and they walked me through the process. Then within a few minutes, we verified that the system was on and we were up and running. They were very helpful and fast. Everybody has been very nice, from the sales guy all the way up to customer service. We had a really good experience. And then their interface on their website, their app, is really nice also. We can see how much power we’ve made per day, per week and per month, which is pretty neat.
We have the monthly payment that we make to Sunrun which is much less than the bill that we were giving to PG&E. And we could tell right away that we were saving some money. We feel better about it. We’ve already told a bunch of people about Sunrun and I told them that the company has been awesome. And if they haven’t gone solar, I told them that they need to do it because it has been an amazing thing. My parents are from the high desert plains of Texas where there's sun year-round just like in California. So they will benefit from solar.

I wanted solar for a long time and had to deal with a lot of nonsense. First, they said that they don’t install them in flat roofs. But they do it in flat desert. Also, the regulations jumped through hoops. I saw my neighbors putting up solar services and I’ve known about it for a long time. I’ve been studying this and reading for nine years.
Enrolling with Sunrun wasn’t bad but the setup was a problem. I told the customer service reps that there was a problem turning on my Sunrun. They walked me through it and I saw one green and two red lights. So there was something wrong. I called them and told them but they didn’t understand. They talked about the light being amber and it was red. It took them three weeks to send somebody out here to look at it and when the two guys came, they said the equipment was broken.
There was only one good person and he walked up to the roof and checked the panels. He came down, plugged it in and it went away. The red signal light was a plug they forgot to put in. I explained my problem to Sunrun and they took their time about even setting up an appointment. I’ve waited a while for them to come out here and after I sent them pictures and communicated with them with texts and all that kind of stuff, they still didn’t act right. It took them so long to address the issue and I was a first-time customer and I’d give an F to the follow-up team. If I didn’t have to wait so long, I wouldn't have had the service. I would recommend them anyway because I study solar energy and I know the benefits. At the end of the day, the electric company can keep raising its rates. I would refer them but they need to tighten up their act on the customer service end because it's lousy.

I wanted solar energy for quite a few years, but my wife and I didn’t own our home at the time. We were renting from our parents and when we finally purchased the house, we wanted to put solar energy on it. There was another place I had tried to get solar through and they said that it wouldn’t work because at that time we were still on the PG&E CARE program.
On the other hand, enrolling with Sunrun was really easy for the most part. I never even had to be home to deal with any of it. The original guy that put the electrical panel on the house showed up before I headed to work. He said, “Yeah, I’m here to put your panel on and I’m gonna stick it here, and that’s that. You'll be turned back on even before you’re home from work.” They were straightforward and it seemed easy to take of the solar panels through them. We did some stuff over the phone, and then some through email for those that I had to sign. So far, we don’t have a PG&E bill. So in my book, that’s great because Sunrun cut our stuff and knocked at least $200 a month off of our electricity bill. It’s also a cleaner source of energy and with the way the world is growing, it’s a necessity for keeping the power grid up. Sunrun's the perfect place to go unless people would want to own their system outright.

Solar is a clean energy base while fossil fuel has much fumes and not getting any better. There is cost saving in going solar and it’s basically letting me produce my own energy. By going solar, I get away from the monotony. Indi Energy crams it on you and being here in Nevada, I run my AC 24/7. In any way that I can cut that bill down and help the environment, that’s what I want to do. I did some research and looked at the reviews on Sunrun and compared them to other solar panel installers and Sunrun came out on top. The signup process was pretty easy. Their reps were pretty helpful and they got back to me if they didn’t get in front of me right away and they answered all the questions. They followed up on everything and said what they were going to do.
All of their technicians were right on and they were timely with their installation and repairs. As a matter of fact, a tech came out a little ahead of time but that was not a problem because I was expecting him to be in as he was able to inform me. So far, things are pretty good with Sunrun. I tell my friends that the people at this company say what they mean and mean what they say. I’m trying to get my friends to convert too. In fact, I got two people that are in need of Sunrun right now.

They did call me to ask if everything was okay and if I had any questions. But I didn't.
Installation was also pretty easy. They sent me an email. And the project manager got a hold of me, explained the sense of the processes and kept me updated on what was going on all the time. And then from there, it was just waiting on the permits. Once I got the permits, it was pretty simple and quick. It took about four hours of it. I was really happy with my experience going solar. It went from roughly around $50 of electricity down to 4 bucks. And that’s during this season with 65 degrees all day. They’re a great company and smooth going installation. It was also a very smooth transition to get the panels on the building.

I was happy with Solar City at the last job, so I signed up with them but when they came out, they were gonna put half of it on the roof and half of it on the garage. I wanted it all on the roof of the house and so, I didn’t approve their final design. I called up Sunrun who came out and said they could do it that way. And they did. Going solar with Sunrun has been great. It’s a good thing and I would give them a good recommendation.

My husband and I wanted to save money on the electric and looked into solar energy. Sunrun came to our door and gave us the spiel. We'd know exactly how much we were gonna have to pay during the summer as opposed to expecting a high bill, and it sounded like something we wanted, so we signed up. The rep walked us completely through the enrollment and he helped us get financing. He was really good and the installers were very helpful and great. They showed us what to do and how the system ran.
We love the fact that solar is working all the time as opposed to worrying about how it is especially in the monsoon season that we’re getting into it right now. We don’t have to worry about running an electricity when we have to bake. However, we had some difficulty logging on to our account. The code they sent us would expire before we even got it and it took an entire month for Sunrun to investigate why the system was doing it. On the other hand, Sunrun has been very helpful. They constantly walked us through, and we finally logged on. We’ve already recommended two people who have better credits than we do and we told them they’d be able to save during the summertime. They can run their electricity any time, and they don’t have to worry about primetime.

We starting a project of getting solar installed with Sunrun in our new home shortly after we moved in in October 2016. Through our time working on this project, we have run against a lot of confusion, errors and overall frustrations. There are many solar companies that we have talked to but we decided to move forward with your company due to your connection with Costco. We have always been impressed with Costco and figured a company working with Costco should have a similar customer focus and professionalism. I would like to go through a few of our many frustrations that we have experienced in working with Sunrun.
We started the project in November and didn't get everything installed until Sept 22. They had initially told us that the panels would be installed by April-May of 2017. The communication between our projects leads and the owners of the home was very poor. When we set up our project we set it up originally off of a partial electric bill. Once we realized this we asked to increase the size and quantity of the panels on our project to get closer to our actual energy usage. The employee who was at the house then set it up as two different projects on the same property. One project being the original plan (as the original project was already moving through the process).
The second project being the additional panels required for the second plan. At some point, they realized they could not do it as two separate projects so they canceled the separate projects causing us to get an automatic email notification that our project was canceled. In order for us to find out what happened, we had to call them. The canceling of the projects caused an issue with the financing process which we as the customer had to resolve through a series of phone calls and a series of additional paperwork. We were told originally that the roof repair work would be covered in the installation.
A while into the project we were informed via email that we would have to pay an additional amount to cover the overage. I called to find out more and was assured a number of times that it was covered. Additional emails came stating we needed to pay, leading to an additional phone call where they stated that we indeed needed to pay extra and that the extra could not be financed.
When they came to change out the electric panel we were not informed that our power would be turned off for the whole day until the contractors arrived that day. The communication was buried in a few PDF files attached to an email. No one asked if we wanted to keep the old panel leading to the contractors to throw it away without our permission. After installation, the contractors left us with very limited information about the system and how it worked etc. Causing us to have to follow up with the company to get the manual and other instructions for our new $50,000 appliance. Meanwhile, there were several different people that would contact us for various things and there was no continuity of contacts. Further, there are 4 owners of this property and we asked them numerous times to copy all of us on all email communications which did not happen.
After the installation of the system was complete our pump on the pond was not working. We thought it was an issue with the pump so we called someone out to repair it. Come to find out it was not a problem with the pump, the problem was that the panel was not appropriately hooked up to the pump. The screw in the panel box was not connected to the wire. This was causing a spike in electricity usage and causing the pump to not work. In order to determine this, we had to call out a pump guy and an electrician to tell us that Sunrun screwed up the connection. The electrician was able to fix this issue but this cost us extra time and money.
Now this month we got our electric bill showing our connection to the solar. At first, it looked promising, until we got a second bill in the mail. I called up SDGE and found out that Sunrun had only hooked the solar up to our water pump electric meter and not to the house. So now not only am I still paying for my HIGH electricity bill on the main property but now I am paying for my solar panels that were supposed to help lower the cost of my electricity. Apparently, the wrong application was filed. A dual application needs to be submitted to connect the solar to both the house and the water pump meters. We did inform a few of the people that we worked with over the last year that there were 2 different electricity meters on the property.
All in all, these are some of the biggest issues we have had through this process. There are other issues that were minor but still should not have happened. I have to say that in the end we have not been impressed with Sunrun and would not recommend them to anyone else. We are very disappointed how this entire project was handled. In my opinion, this experience was not worthy of its connection with Costco. We hope you can address these issues so that other customers in the future do not have to struggle through what we did. We also hope to get our system issues addressed in a timely manner so we can be freed from this nightmare of an experience. Now they have sent us to collections for a bill they never sent and that customer service says they have no records of. Almost three years later and still living the nightmare.
Thank you for reaching out to us, Christina. It's disheartening to hear this is the experience you had from the beginning. In reviewing your account, our management team is currently working on a resolution and will be in touch shortly

We have a big electric bill in our house. We were interested in saving energy, so we looked at solar energy providers and found that Sunrun had better savings compared to others. But if not for the savings, we would have gone with SolarCity. Sunrun's enrollment process was simple and the gentleman who came to us explained everything very efficiently. The installation was great and everything is beautiful.
I'm currently having issues that I never had before with some electrical system. A guy came out, but he didn't know what's going on and if it's the equipment. He didn't take anything apart, but he needed to see what I was seeing. An electrician should know what's going on or should do some more research or call someone, but he didn't. They should be more knowledgeable on the equipment as to what may happen or what may not happen. There should also be more support and training in the equipment that they install. In addition, I haven't gotten a call or an answer from anyone. But overall, my experience with Sunrun has been good. And the important thing is we are saving money in going solar and it's also saving the ecosystem. We had recommended Sunrun to a few people.

Sunrun visited us at our house in Greenville. They were walking through the neighborhood trying to get different houses to sign up for solar panels. We always thought it was a good idea. At the time, we were looking to sell our previous house. And now that we have, we were gonna be here for a while, and we decided that why not go and bite the bullet. The worst that could happen is that they don’t offset the power bill at all. But so far, we’ve been pleasantly surprised.
Shawn was the representative at the time that was working with us. He walked us through what he could. He had to make sure that we didn’t mess up somewhere along the line. The reps were very friendly too and they apologized. Like at the old house, they said, “I know that there was no soliciting. But your house is in a great position for this”. It was a good pitch. They behaved very professionally. And more than that, for the most part, they were knowledgeable about any questions we had about how their system works. And they were believable also in their command of information. The final process was pretty easy too.
The home inspection went pretty quickly as well. But then there was a lot of red tape where about five months, nothing was happening. It might have been that long where nothing directly related to the manager, was happening. But they got around to putting the panels on the roof and it moved pretty quickly from that point on. Some of the suggestions were to do our clothes in the daytime and run the dishwasher in the daytime since that power is coming from the sun. It seemed that it affected the bill about the same amount that it was predicted that it was going to.
I’d tell others to definitely go ahead and work with Sunrun. It was a good experience. They are a very professional company as far as the roofing repairs. Because that company was not shoddy, they outright assured me that they weren’t gonna be leaving any trimmings and shingles or anything in the yard. I got several calls along the way. And when I didn’t receive any information, I wasn’t sure what was going on. So I sent a quick email out and I got a reply fairly quickly. And it was nice. I felt like I was doing something. I was making progress.

He explained to me all the benefits and what all the other rates are gonna be in the future years. And I agreed with him. And I had a good experience with him.
I’ve been using the air conditioning unit and my spa. And with the additional panels, I don’t have a large bill anymore. Before then the bill was $200. And now they owed me now. Enrolling went by a lot faster from what I thought it would since we started in January and we were up and running by March. When APS was here, we weren't here and they installed the meter and left a note on the door saying we were up and ready to go. And so I called Ariel at Sunrun and I told her. They had not received the notice yet from APS but we turned it on a week before they got the notice so I had a week of free solar. The installers came at 8:00 and they were done at 12:00. I just let them do their job, and I didn’t even know they were here when they left ‘cause they cleaned up absolutely fantastic.
Sunrun has the app that I have on my iPad and I know exactly what’s gonna happen next and when it’s gonna happen. I don’t have to call them at all because I can follow everything right through my own computer. Our air-conditioning bills were about $300, and now my last bill to APS was minus $68 and change. It’s been an unbelievable experience and we've already referred a friend of ours down the block.

I've been having a good experience with Sunrun. I wanted to get some savings on the electricity bill and the City of Barstow sent flyers about Sunrun through the mail. I went under the program through the city and Sunrun made it very easy to enroll. I talked to them when they were here doing the setup and they were nice and friendly. I've been saving money on my electricity bill since then, which allows me to buy other things or pay off other bills. Overall, I'm satisfied with going solar. Plus, the customer service reps I've talked to were very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend Sunrun and doing solar panels.

Sunrun contacted us. My wife is very ill and they said that they had a thing where they tried to help out a family in each region that they work. So they were donating the system to us. Also, we've got six children and they love to use electricity so we're hoping that switching to solar would lower our energy bill. We had no problem enrolling with Sunrun. We dealt with a man named Nisha who was phenomenal. He walked us through the whole thing and did the whole process with us and it was extremely easy. We were pleased with the whole process. Also, the installers were great and very polite. We are 100% satisfied with our decision to go solar.

I have concern for the environment and Sunrun had a good proposal on solar energy services. They made the most sense and I got sick of researching it. They are competitively priced and have a good plan for paying off the loan. They also have good partnerships with lending institutions and it all worked out pretty well. I bought solar panels from them and they're maintaining them over the course of a period of time, and I'm purchasing that service. They are very professional in their efforts to make sure that we've done everything properly, that it was installed properly and all that stuff that is ongoing. They've reached out to me a couple of times to confirm a couple of things, and I've been impressed with that. I'm very satisfied so far with getting solar and I have lower electricity bills now. I was very pleased with Sunrun.

I saw something come up on my computer about New York State letting middle-income homeowners have the solar panels for free. My son had taken Sunrun about three years ago. Sunrun's reps came around his neighborhood and he got the solar heating. He’s happy with it, so I figured why not. I’ll try anything to lower my bills. I looked into other solar companies and I called somebody. A guy came and he was here for about two hours. He wanted me to write him a check for $3,500. But I told him no. My son got it for free and I wanted the same thing. I practically had to kick him out of the house. He wouldn’t leave unless I gave him a check. He should have told me in the very beginning that the panels weren’t free.
When this fellow from Sunrun called me, I made sure that it was free. He came and I liked him. Plus, he seemed to be local. He was able to get here that day that I called. So, I went with them. Enrolling with Sunrun was very easy and they did it all. Sunrun was very efficient. The men were very nice when they were working here. They cleaned up everything in my garage where they had to drill holes. My system has only been running for about a couple of months now and I am saving a few dollars. Sunrun lowered my bill from $133 to $105. But the rep said that as the PSE&G goes up to 3.5% every year, I would still only pay what I’m paying now. I recommended Sunrun to some of my neighbors.

I've been interested in solar but I just had the opportunity to get a Sunrun solar for the first time when I purchased my first home about a year ago. It worked out well, so far. They had a really nice guy named Dennis. He came to my house and explained everything. We went over whatever would happen and he was very informative. He was very professional, answered all the questions we had and seemed to be very knowledgeable. We enrolled the night he came over. So far, we've only gotten one statement from National Grid, but we are in the negatives with them so that’s obviously a plus. I have less of an electric bill, so I have a little more money in my pocket. I'm very satisfied with Sunrun and the installation looks great. Every person at Sunrun was very professional and everything went really smoothly. I'm very satisfied. It was a really good experience and Sunrun is something I'd would recommend. I was cleaning the front of my house and a representative from Sunrun came around. He started talking to me and ended up helping me do the stuff around the house. It was almost like I knew him and he was telling me all about Sunrun. My husband had wanted Sunrun for over a year but I was against it because we had just gotten a gazebo and a whole new front porch. Plus, I thought that Sunrun's panels are very ugly. I did not want all that taken away from the look of the house.
When he was telling me, he drew up a couple of pictures for us and showed us how we could still get solar but everything would be at the back of my house. When people drive by and take pictures of our home, they can't see it. The best part was when they came to put the solar panels in were reading the same upside down and they were starting up front. I asked them what they were doing and told them that they can set up in the backyard.
Eventually, the higher ups and the guy who sold it to me came out and there was like a big uproar with that. Even so, if they put it up front, that would've been horrible. Nevertheless, my bill has disappeared almost and there is about a $150 difference. I'm going around and telling everybody in the neighborhood about Sunrun and talking to them for future sales.

I live in Arizona part time and a lot of solar has been put up so I thought about looking into solar energy services as well to see if it was reasonable for me. Enrolling into the service was easy and all I had to do was make a deposit down, which was refundable within 30 days if I decided to back out. And then Sunrun took over from there and did all the work for me. The representative that we’ve been dealing with was excellent. He always returned our call if we had any question and just made the whole process easy for us.
The installation was done by their contractor Arcadia and it was outstanding. They were very tidy and work was completed in a reasonable time. The people were very personal too. However, Sunrun doesn’t have some electronics that are in the system. Somebody else controls them and I’m having a hard time getting in touch with that company on one item. Sunrun's customer service, on the other hand, has been very good and I’ve been in contact with them about my issue. They are a good company to go with. Our Sunrun solar is producing very well for us right now and we’re making money which we'll be spending when we get back down within months. We have a little website in Arizona and we put a clip on it about the experience we had with Sunrun, and the people read that and they went with the same company.
Thank you for reaching out, Harold! Our goal is to ensure the process of going solar is as easy as possible while providing the best customer experience! Welcome to the Sunrun family!

I don't have enough space to list all issues I have had since signing up with Sunrun but I will say it has been the worst decision I have ever made as a homeowner. Since my system was installed (over 4 years now) it has not once produced the power promised. Even with my Sunrun system I am paying the electric company between $1300 and $2000 a year. Please don't be fooled by the "guarantee" they offer on your power production, it is a scam. What it does is pays you for what they don't produce however it does not come close to covering what you will pay your electric company. The purpose of solar is to keep you in lower tiers with your utility company. When solar under produces your tiers go up and you pay the higher rate. For example my Edison bill last year was a bit over $1300, Sunrun gave me about $300 back in underproduction and I get stuck paying the extra $1000 out of pocket to Edison.
Sunrun has done nothing to fix the issue and the customer service is nonexistent. The folks who answer the calls are always very polite however they can't resolve your problems. They promise a "supervisor" or the right person will call you back but nobody ever does. Oddly every time I call all of the supervisors are "in a meeting" all at the same time. Since I am in a contract there is really nothing I can do and they know it.
Next is their "warrant" they speak of. It sounds great that they will monitor your system and do any and all repairs for free. Here is the issue with that. About two years after my under producing system was installed my "inverter" went out during the summer months which means I was producing zero power. Sunrun let me know that they were out of stock and it would be months before they fixed it. I asked if that meant they were not able to do any new installs across the entire country because they had no inverters and of course they said they had inverters to do new installs but none to repair the systems of their "valued" customers. So I went many months of no solar at all but don't think for a second they will let you stop paying them even though they won't repair your system. Anyway my Edison bill was $2000 that year and what Sunrun refunded me didn't even come close to covering it.
If nothing else please do your homework and get quotes from several reputable companies before you go solar and truly understand your contract. I made mistakes as well that are completely my own fault. I am paying Sunrun more money for less power than some of my friends/relatives I was able to steer away from Sunrun to other companies. The salesman gave me a good pitch and I signed up without shopping around. That is completely my fault but all I have asked from Sunrun is to simply produce the power I am paying for and they have not lived up to their end of the deal one time since I signed on. And again, you're in a contract for a very long time.
Once they have you on the hook they have zero motivation to help you. All I can do at this point is tell my story in reviews and hang out with the poor sales representatives at Costco and warn all of their potential victims about what they are really getting with Sunrun. I don't know if there is a way for potential customers to contact me direct from here but if there is feel free to message me. I will be glad to explain all of the issues I have and what I have learned. I really don't want to see anyone get stuck in the same situation I am in.
Thank you for your communication, Roger. After reviewing your account, I show that we are currently working to resolve your system concerns. An Escalations specialist will be in touch shortly.

We had someone come to our door and talked to us about solar energy. The way that he presented it to us was that it wouldn’t cost us anything as far as our taxes and huge bill. It’s something that the City of Banning was taking and since they went to the new meters, they were welcoming people to do the solar. I was hoping to bring down our bill. Enrolling with Sunrun though took a long time. It took about four months once we decided to go ahead and do it. Sunrun said that it was the city that was delayed and when I called the city, the city would say that they were not delayed. So, it was going back and forth. Their reps had told us that after the city came and put the meter in, they wanted to be here at the same time so all the switches could be flipped on and we would be able to start right away but that didn’t happen. Also, I called customer service to tell them that their meter is erring out and I never heard anything back from them at all.
Sunrun has said that once we get hooked up with solar power, if we need to put on more panels, it wouldn't be a problem. It could be done. But finally, I got the contract after asking for it for about three months and it says that they will revisit us in two years. I’m hoping that we can get more panels put up before the two-year time because a lot of people were telling us that once we go solar, we'll start using more electricity than we normally do and it's true. The enrolment process was easy though and overall, Sunrun took care of absolutely everything. Sunrun is a company that pays for your solar to go up and works with your electrical company and you don’t have to do anything.

I was just surfing on the internet and I ran across a bunch of people that Sunrun installed their solar systems so I started calling them. I liked what John, the salesman that I contacted, had to say. I was looking into solar energy slowly. I just bought a new home for me and it didn’t have solar on it. I’m living in Arizona and it’s located right into the sun up. John came out to the house and we talked about the whole system and how it all works. The other salesmen that I talked to were just salesmen, but John knew what he was talking about. I’m a retired electrician and everything he said made sense. So we just went ahead and enrolled.
From there on, the scheduling and getting the permits were really smooth. The installers came and they did a great job. Two guys did the install of the eco panels and two or three guys did all the equipment inside the house. They all knew what they were doing and did a very professional job. Sunrun was a very easy company to deal with. I’ve only had one electric bill when it was up and running. The month before the install, my bill was around 150. But the bill for the first full month that solar was working was only $11.74. I’m pretty pleased. We have a slight problem with the circuit at this moment. The solar systems are working but for some reason, we have a problem with the battery pack and they’re coming out to figure that one out.
It was very surprising to me that Sunrun is associated with Costco. Because of their association, I received a $1,200 gift card from Costco. The company keeps running the way they are and doing things like they did for me. I have recommended them a couple of times. It really runs smoothly from the first contact with the salesperson and the follow up with John. They just got a super team.

The Sunrun salesman, Robbie, enrolled me in their service and it went pretty smooth. He had all the information we needed to do a comparison with what we were looking at, but I didn’t like that we couldn’t get a 100% because of the roof structure of my house. But that’s okay. So far, We’ve had a good experience with Sunrun. I have one bill for Duke Energy without Sunrun for $56. And then I just had one where Sunrun billed me $104 and Duke Power billed me $25. But as soon as I get it cut out, that would make up our difference. Power is gonna go up, so having Sunrun has gotta be a good thing. I’m pleased with them and I’m hoping it continues to go that way. I also tell people about the potential savings that I hope to get in the future.

I looked up solar services online and Sunrun came up as one of the top solar providers in our area. I am a big stickler of reading other customers’ comments and their experiences with the company. So between that, the ratings, and being part of the Better Business Bureau, I chose Sunrun. From the beginning, Fabian, my sales guy, was awesome and I loved him. He said he just needed 30-45 minutes of my time. He came in here and we asked every question in the book. We had him here for two hours and he had an answer to everything. I was impressed. My husband cannot stand salespeople and for him, anything that comes out of their mouth is a lie. But Fabian was very thorough, informative, knowledgeable, knew what he was talking about, had prior experience with another company that he was able to share and he sold us on it.
The installation team was really good. They came out and they were done in a timely fashion. They were also neat about it and professional. I had a total of five days where I was able to monitor the amount of energy that we were generating but recently, I had three days where I had no power being generated. I contacted Sunrun and asked for an explanation and they couldn’t see anything on their end. I was told that they would be monitoring that closely and in the event that this were to happen or have any issues with either the inverter of the solar panels, they would more than likely be the ones to contact me before I contact them, which was not the case. So, I’m a little disappointed on that note, however it taught me to keep a closer eye, and that’s what I’m gonna do.
Overall so far, everything’s gone the way it was presented to me, with the exception to that one incident so, I’m hoping that it doesn’t happen again. I’m still very satisfied but I would like to know why that happened. The customer service rep was very polite and professional but not very knowledgeable. He didn’t offer much information and I was the one who was digging. We had these two instances where our power went out very briefly on two different days and it was within the last two weeks so I was thinking what could have triggered it. His guess was as good as mine so when I hung up, I felt like I didn’t have any more information than when I first called.
We just got turned on in April so it really hasn’t been that long to have any serious issues but they’re still up there with me so far and I’m still very satisfied with Sunrun up to this point. I feel a lot more comfortable that I’m doing better and hopeful that I’m gonna be saving money in the long run. But we still had single-pane windows on one side of our house. We were defeating the purpose of going solar to have single-pane windows on the house so we went ahead and we did our windows too.
We are excited because I know we’re doing something good not only for earth in itself, but also our pockets which is very important. I knew Sunrun was a good company from my own research, but Fabian confirmed what I was already reading about. He was here on the installation date as well as my brother and he told Fabian that they were in the market for a house and when they buy one, they are gonna give him a call. Fabian told him to call and he’ll see what they can do for him. That was in April and here we are in June and my brother just brought a house so, I referred Fabian over to him and they’re gonna be meeting on Monday.

I used to live in upstate New York and I had a solar heating system for years. Being in the south now, they just start pushing it with the solar. It was something I was looking forward to in a way. Sunrun was installing units in our area and mine was installed by Summit Solar. I saw how Sunrun installed units and I didn't go with them directly because I didn’t like the way they installed. They run conduit up from one side of the roof to the other and down over your eaves and down the side of your house, which is great, but it’s kinda rushed. It's just galvanized. I could also see the racks when I stood by the house. Summit did everything but Sunrun maintains. And the enrollment with Sunrun went well. The reason I didn’t go with Sunrun before is because I'm gonna retire and I wouldn’t have been able to get all of my tax rebates so I went through Summit with a lease. I’ve been looking for solar for a long time. And I’ve seen a couple of the signs of Sunrun around the neighborhood. They also have a stand there in Costco and I thought, “Let’s see what the guy has to say”. Enrolling with them was really easy. They took care of everything. The guy at the stand at Costco had said he could have somebody come over that day. And I said fine. And the guy came over and we talked and we discussed it. I called them back a couple days later and said, “Let’s go for it”, and we signed the paper. Installation was very easy too. I asked if they didn’t need me home, and they said, “I don’t think so, but if you’re there when we get there, that’s fine.” And they took care of everything. It was eventually five hours. And the district manager who lived half a mile away came by and made sure they were doing okay.
I was very happy with my experience with them. They got the permits and they did everything. I just basically sat there and waited. And they told me what to do. The DWP came and gave their final inspection on a Sunday, which I wasn’t expecting. So their question was whether I could turn the system on or not immediately. And Sunrun had people on a Sunday and they said to go ahead and turn it on. My system’s up and running and I haven’t had any questions or problems.

We have always been interested in solar. We looked around and it was on some kind of a mailer that we first heard about Sunrun. At that time, a few people in our neighborhood had used them so we went over to them as well. So far, it has been working fine. We had some difficulty during the course of the installation though. While everything went well until the installation was done, all of a sudden, we were inundated with pigeons. It must have taken us six months to finally work with Sunrun for them to install the pigeon guards.
What happened was, they were constantly coming back with other options like we should get some tennis balls and throw them up on the roof to scare the pigeons away. They also said we could spray the panels with my hose and that would scare them away, which didn't work. And the problem was that with the way our house and roof are configured, the pigeons lie underneath the panels and do their business underneath and it would roll down and it happened to cover the sidewalk to our front door. That means I have to go out and hose it off every day.
What helped convinced them is that I was a transplant patient and exposure to all of that pigeon poop was not good for me. So they finally gave in and sent somebody out to do it. Other than that, while we never keep close track of the difference, our gauge is July and August out here in Arizona where we are paying between $250 and $300 a month in electricity. Along with the $100 that we pay Sunrun every month, we're probably paying a third less than that. So, it's huge savings.
Thanks for reaching out, Henry. Great story, thanks so much for sharing. Providing each customer with a first-rate experience is what we aim for! We also value honesty, and accountability and we appreciate you giving us the opportunity after the hiccup you experienced with the pigeons. So thrilled you're a member of our Sunrun family!

I was gonna go with a different company but since I'm disabled, I can't do the tax credit thing and a guy from a different company set me up with Sunrun. Carlos, the Sunrun rep who came to my house, was cool as can be and he made the enrollment process a piece of cake. They are a great company and more people should go solar.

My wife and I have had nothing but bad experiences with Sunrun. Their customer services is more frustrating than helpful-you have to mentally prepare for a fight with multiple agents as you get passed around. They were very responsive and friendly before we signed up and once we signed up we were not a priority and seemed to be a burden when we would contact them. The sales rep has been more helpful than the actual company... He even helped us and my mother in law receive a refund check as the amount of solar power credits they promised were not even close to what they quoted so now we have a monthly payment owed to Sunrun and a monthly payment to our power company...
We love the idea of solar power but I would use another company. If was able to change companies but keep solar I would do it in a second. I wish I would have done more research prior to signing up with Sunrun- buyers beware... I recently saw a local news station helped a viewer receive a payment from Sunrun due to their power production not being anywhere near what they promised. Only 19 more freaking years and we are done with them.
Thank you for reaching out, Eric. We are sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with your Sunrun system. Our goal is to provide clean energy but that should also include some savings. Typically, this is provided by offering a lower price per kilowatt rate than the utility company. The system is sized based on your pre-solar usage as long as you are within that usage you should not be seeing a higher bill. We would be happy to look into this matter further. My brother next to me told me about Sunrun and said he had had it, and I wasn’t aware that they had made it for mobile homes. I had a very good and easy experience enrolling with them. The guy that was talking to me, Isaac, was very good. But getting the process done was hard, but it was not from their end, it was the paperwork from California. And the hardest part was the communication between what was going on. I was being approved but I have never still received a receipt that it was paid in full. They still think I owed, but I paid cash upfront. They told me that it takes time to catch up from whatever company to whatever company, but they’re still sending the invoices saying I need to pay the bill, and I’m not happy with that at all.
Apparently, they wanted their money right away. It was before the installation date that they had to have the money so they sent me the form quickly to mail it back in their little envelope, and it went FedEx. When I talked to their customer service, their service was fine. They told me it’s in the mail. They were just doing their job telling me what I wanted to hear, but nobody put me through to solve anything and it just hangs there. But I have wonderful things to say about Sunrun and I have recommended them very highly. Going solar was good so far. I thought I would get an electric bill but I don't have one. But I don't use a lot of it because I’m not there all the time. I have a home in Texas and I’m there right now.
Thank you for reaching out, Cheryl. We are so grateful to our customers and are thrilled that you have shared your experience. We are always looking to improve and your feedback is integral in doing that.

We use so much power and one of my friends works for Legacy Power, so she happened to have Sunrun. I called her and said that we were interested. She came up and sat with us and explained how Sunrun’s process works. We didn't wanna put out money, so we preferred the leasing option, especially because there was no money down.
The installation experience was good and they totally convinced me but I was confused because they didn't explain the energy audit very well. I thought I was waiting for an inspector who didn't show up, like an inspector to make sure it was to code. What they meant was that the person they had to do the audit didn't show up, so I had to reschedule with that company and they apologized. It wasn't Sunrun's fault. They also told me that it was typically $150 but because they hadn't shown up the day that they were supposed to, they were gonna waive that fee. I was under the impression that Sunrun would be paying for the energy audit and it was included in what we were doing. I didn't realize but had I been a normal person who they showed up for, I would've been out $150 that I wasn't prepared to spend.
We had just been in our house since July and our friend sat with us in November, so we didn't really know what our usage was and she had to go based on square footage, which was unfortunate because we were slated to use about 22,000-kilowatt hours this year. That's a lot and our system only produces 8,000. We're still paying a crazy high electric bill. It’s better than it was but certainly not where I wanted to be, so I'm gonna call Sunrun in January and get more panels.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Samantha! It's wonderful to hear things went so well for you, this is our goal! We appreciate you joining us in our mission to create a planet run by the sun.

Sunrun was introduced to me by a friend of mine. The enrolment experience was good but it didn't work out right. I asked them at the beginning if both meters, one for the upstairs and the other was for the main floor and basement, could be on the same thing and they said it couldn't be. The guy I spoke with told me that I could probably get it changed over by an electrician, but they didn’t say that they were gonna fix it. But now I’m hearing that with other companies, it can be on the same.
Sunrun should have known better with the connection. My request was to make it one before they did the thing but they didn’t. It wasn't completed the way that I thought it would have been. The work was done properly but the expectation was not met. Also, the bill we're paying is more than we used to pay for the service because now we are paying them and Con Edison as well.
Thanks for your contact, Nigel! Our aim is to provide a customer experience that meets your expectations! As well, efficient communication is key. We had solar panels in Colorado so when we moved to Arizona, I was interested in going solar as well. Enrolling with Sunrun was fairly easy and they answered a lot of my questions. We had some difficulties selling our home in Colorado with the solar panels because of the type of credit check they had for people. But we were glad to see they had made some improvements and changes. We don't want to deal with those problems when we go to sell and we were already involved in solar that we liked.
The sales rep we dealt with was very good. Troy was easy to talk to. We didn’t have any particular issues and if we did, we were able to talk to him and get them resolved. They were also efficient during the installation. We had referral fees and they handled that promptly. I would refer them to other people as well. This will be our second year with Sunrun and the only thing we're a little disappointed in is that our credits don’t carry over with the power company. They buy them back but they don’t give us much form. So we have to start over again in January to build up those credits to start paying for our power, and that takes a few months to kick in. But we had gotten the certain amount of panels according to what we use and the system takes care of us through the hot summer months so we’re happy with Sunrun.

They have a device from their lab that monitors the panels but I’m not getting as good a performance as I used to two years ago. You could pay $500 a month down to $150 right now but I should be getting a bit better. The first couple of years, I wasn't paying more than $25 to $55 a month. Their rep was really nice at the beginning but they should be a little more open to customers that certain things could happen in case there's a lot of snow.
A couple of things happened around winter which I wasn’t told about. There was a lot of snow and the noise we heard was really bad. I even felt four times within the same day like the panels were coming down. Then the awning that I had in the back patio has been damaged pretty bad. It was really scary and I wasn't happy at all. Last January, their reps arrived and said they were gonna fix the awning. But it’s been more than two months and I haven’t heard much about it. We had a Peaksaver system on our old house and I really liked that. And then, we had a perfect layout for a full system in our new house. Once you lease the solar panels, it’s kind of awash, so you’re not saving a whole ton of money. But if you’re gonna be paying it anyway, it might as well be making your own energy and having it from an environmentally friendly, renewable energy source. So, the practical plus the financial benefits made us decide on it.
Everybody in Sunrun was super helpful and friendly. Anytime I had a question, they answered right away. They’d give me a call and with each step, they would say that the application has been approved and what the next step is. So, they were always on top and always communicated wonderfully. One of those things is that there would be a lien put onto our house by Sunrun, which they didn’t say anything about. When I called and spoke with customer service, they explained about the billing cycles, which is something else the salesman did not tell us. 2 1/2 years that we have been with Sunrun. In August and September of 2017 our electric bill tripled in price. It was due to their equipment failing. It was disappointing that it took them 2 months to figure that out, but I will say once it was realized. That faulty equipment was to blame. It only took 2 weeks to fix. We were told that our account would be reviewed in January for any credits due. Well January came and went and figuring they had a lot of accounts to review it was mid March when we started calling to inquire. We did receive a call back later that evening a message was left by (manager) Saying our system was operating at 101 percent. Until then we had never signed on or signed up to view our Sunrun account.
The very next day After viewing our online account we realize we weren't even coming close to what we were guaranteed to produce. So we called again. I spoke with Kelsey **, the administration supervisor. And we both viewed my account online, and she agreed with me that I was under producing. She said she would look into and she wanted to help but she was limited on the amount of credit she could offer but would contact me the following day. I never received any correspondence from her and called the company 48 hours later. And spoke with a gentleman named Grant. And after telling him the story and reviewing my account again online. He said that he would speak with his supervisor about the system, not producing what they guaranteed it to produce. He placed me on hold and about 10 minutes later he got back on the line and told me, contract had been revised. I replied, "Really? When did that happen?"
Then I said, "The contract online?" He said, "You know you should have received a revised contract." I explained to him. We received no revised contract and the paperwork I have in hand and the one I'm looking at online are the same. He tells me he emailed me the revised contract and to take a look. In the revised contract, my production of energy drastically went down, matching what I'm currently producing. And the cost of the kilo watts went up by 5 cents. Making it 20 cents per kilowatt, they are charging me. Which, I might add is the highest you could possibly pay according to the information given by APS in 2018. I am certain they weren't that high and 2015 when I signed the contract And plus all the signatures and initials on the revised contract did not match. Needless to say we were upset.
Grant Offer to help. He said he was limited to a 100 dollar credit and he would look into doing something more but needed to speak to a supervisor. Long story short. I emailed him. He responded by saying he is still looking into it and would call me. I didn't hear back. I followed up with him but never received any the communication. This whole experience has changed my opinion about Sunrun and the way they do business. Forging signatures, changing figures and prices. To this day, my supposed revise contract is still not been changed on my account. Even the system itself had been changed on the revised contract but still not changed. In one, I can view online. Makes me wonder if they are getting a bigger credit from the government each year for the larger system, they say I have, but don't really have.

I had been thinking about solar energy services for a long time and had talked with a solar provider in the past. At that point, it didn't seem to work out and it seemed to click much better with Sunrun. My experience when enrolling with Sunrun was straightforward. I had a solid grasp of all the ins and outs and I was very comfortable with what was proposed and all the different options. I understood what the process would be going forward through the completion of the project.
When I had a minor problem with the unit, the customer service reps were able to help me self-diagnose and correct the deficiency, so it worked out well. By and large, I'm satisfied with my decision to go solar. The system has been nice and reliable. The workmanship of the installer was good and the impact on the billing has been noticeable. The only drawback is I was less knowledgeable about how the surrounding tree cover was gonna be impacted over the course of the longer term. I had very mature trees but I didn't think we were gonna be impacting it that much. It turned out to be more of an issue.
I may have to seek out some additional information from the company as I looked to finish out the basement where some of the equipment was placed. But I like Sunrun. A very nice representative came to our home and didn’t act like a sales guy. He was like an advocate for us and told us what we needed to know.
The installation was done in early January, but we had to wait because of the city code and electric company. When I was checking the cost of solar energy services originally, there was no real improvement in my cost because I'm single and I don't use that much. But then, after a couple of years when I went back to it, I realized I wasn’t going to pay that much money, but I wanna support the cause and like the idea of clean energy. I have nine panels in the house and Sunrun was just awesome. The way they came and get it, the workers were fast, efficient and very effective. What they were doing was cute too and it was fun to look at them.
The first guy I talked to about it told me all the things that I needed to know and he was very easy to work with. I read about how I can buy my own battery now so I could be totally self-sufficient and I was halfway interested in it. I live in an earthquake fault down the road and if something happens then I might not be able to get energy. It turns out that I have to buy them to get the battery, but I'll just lease. There was another guy that handled me throughout the process but one guy sold me the idea, and they were all very good about calling me. Although I didn’t meet the guy that I did the most, he told me what was gonna happen and what I need to do. I tried to do it more or less when I can but he kept it all going even if I wasn't always right on the ball and I could believe how fast and neat the whole thing happened, and nobody even noticed.
Sunrun's crew was just great. There was four of them and every one of them seemed to know exactly what they were doing. The guy that put the panel and electrical panel on had to unclear around the edge where it didn't quite fit the previous hole that was in the stucco. He even had a couple places for me where the latch on the gate had scraped the stucco down and said that he can do it. I was out talking to him and I said that it was really hard to match 'cause I've done that and I don't even wanna do it. But he said he was good at it and he can hook it if I wanted him to and I agreed. It was way above and beyond from what he needed to do. And they cleaned up after themselves well.

My daughter at my current house was complaining of $500 electric bill a month so I looked into solar energy. I have Sunrun solar panels in the house that I live in and I waited a year before I put it on my other house. I was told they would be up and running in four to six weeks but it took two to three months. And since going solar, I've lost power to some of my rooms and I'm not happy that there's no battery backup. They need to discuss more options before we actually decide on what we're going to do. They also sent me the bill that was supposed to go to my daughter. Now, they want to charge her a late fee for not paying it, so we need to get that straight.

My wife and I just moved into a home and we checked out Sunrun because we saw a bunch of commercials. We’ve always been conscientious about the environment. We got into some line and a bunch of people called us but Sunrun was the first one to come out. I called other companies and didn’t bother because first, they set up an appointment then they cancel it. I really liked Sunrun’s sales guy, Norman, on the other hand. I liked his honesty and he actually had the product installed in his house too. Also, he was on time and said he was gonna do what he did and what he was supposed to do. So we went with them. Enrolling with Sunrun was very easy.
They did the installation in December but it took a long time for the local utility company to approve it and it was a couple of months before it got turned on but other than that, the installation team was great. All my interactions have been really great with them. We turned the system on on March 2 and our billing cycle is middle of February to middle of March and by the end of the billing cycle, we only had to pay $3 for the existing month of February. We generated 3,000 plus kilowatts and we were able to use the 500. So we didn't owe anything for the outside. Hopefully, that keeps going on so that we get paid at the end of the year. I’m pretty satisfied with my decision to go solar. When it gets really hot in the summertime, the system will generate enough electricity that we’re not gonna be using anything off the grid.

I looked into solar energy to be able to save some money on my utilities. One of the Sunrun representatives in the field called me and because I inquired about solar in the past, he must have me on his list. The guy who made the presentation was professional and was not all pushy. His name was Ramsey and he explained to me the program. I wasn’t prepared to make the decision that evening but he was willing to let me think it over. Then he came back and we went ahead and signed up. The enrollment went great. Sunrun’s customer service had been very helpful every time I had a question. There was one issue that arose and they took care of it.
The solar panels were installed very smoothly. Their installation vehicles were very impressive and the crew that installed our unit were very professional. At this point, I’m very satisfied with my decision to go solar. But since the panel has not been that long since it was activated, I’m waiting for a full month’s bill reflecting the energy usage. I think I’ve been keeping my bill all high on the inverter. And it seems that the system is generating enough electricity to take care of our needs. All in all, it has been a positive experience with Sunrun.

They did all the legwork and I was approved the same day, but then it took about six weeks before they started construction. They went out there right away and they were on time. They did everything they said they would do. The difference in my bill was not as much as I’d hoped, but we had a lot of rain last month, so maybe this month will be a little better. I've been looking into solar energy services for the past year because I was interested in saving electric and Sunrun called me. They explained everything to me from the beginning and it was fine. It was very easy to enroll with the representative and we appreciated the info he was giving us. Sunrun performs very well and we're satisfied with the job they've been doing. They knew exactly what they were doing. I thought they were going to take at least three or four days to do it and fortunately they did in it a very professional time and way so I was happy. But I've been trying to get a hold of the representative for a long time after the installation in January or February. I kept on getting emails to see if I can find other homeowners who are interested in Sunrun but I didn’t have a sign put in front of my yard until yesterday. That sign should have been put up the day they completed.
The second dispute that I have is with the light company, TXU, and I'm not a happy camper. TXU called me and was asking me about my electric bill and I told them that it doubled up. The rep asked me if I was using solar and I said I am but I already have a contract with another company. Right at that moment she said they have solar too. But all these years that I've had them, they never mentioned anything to me so I went with someone else. That same month my electric bill went to $489 from $220 so I called them up and complained. She said the summer season is coming, which was not an excuse, so we had a run-in with that. Then the next month I had another bill at $300 and some, almost another $400.
Something's wrong somewhere so I complained again to Sunrun to no avail. I've got two bills since they have put the solar up and they're way over from what I was told it was going to be. Besides that, I got a bill from S T Electric for $73 for 10 days of service. The rep mumble-jumbled something to me about it and I didn't understand what he was talking about. I'm just really upset and confused and I was ready to cancel everything. So right now, we have TX Energy but when I asked the representative why my bill is still so high, he told me I have to wait for another month or two. And I told him I'm not waiting any longer.
I talked to my neighbor because I was going to give him the sales pitch for Sunrun and the neighbor said, "I'm not going to go to solar when my light bill is $80 a month. I switched TXU to another company." And when I told the Sunrun representative that yesterday he said my neighbor doesn’t use that much electricity. Then my blood pressure went up on me and I told him that it was time and that we'd better stop the conversation. I told him that if my bill doesn’t go down by next month, they might as well just cancel TX and they ought to come on over here and take the solar panels off my house. I was upset yesterday and I had to come inside and cool down a bit after he left. My wife heard everything that was going on and she was upset too because the rep promised us that if we signed up with Sunrun our light bill would be 40% lower than what it's been. And it's not true.
When I told the rep about the TXU light bill going up he said, "Send me the bills. I'm going to help you on that." But he didn’t help me for nothing. He looked the bills up and he said we were supposed to be receiving a check for $200 on one of those light bills and that we should have received them already. But I haven't received a dime so I told him they can go now. I have no complaints about the job that Sunrun did but I'm upset with the representative. He tells us one thing and then he goes back on his word.

They were here working on it in the morning they said they were gonna be and then they completed it the following day. The people at Sunrun were very professional and upfront about everything that they were gonna do and were up to date. I’m pleased with the installation and the operation. In my case the mesh that is wrapped around the solar panels is defective. That let birds live between my roof and the solar panels. The bird poop is always falling from the roof in my pool. Since the solar panels are lease Sunrun should be responsible for repairs. Sunrun refused to repair it. I don't recommend Sunrun to anyone.

I'm an environmentalist and I always wanted to get solar energy services. But I needed a new roof and when I got one, Sunrun contacted me and showed me how it could work. It made sense to me and the contract was great and fair. They also said it wouldn't cost me anything to have it done so I decided to do it. Sunrun has been absolutely wonderful. They were professional, polite, and courteous. I couldn't ask for more. They made the whole thing really easy and it was a pleasure to work with them. They even did a free vent cleaning that they offered with everything and they didn't forget about it. They came and did it and I didn't have to call them. Whatever they said they were gonna do, they did, and I was really happy hanging out with them.
My first payment was last month for April and I could not find the billing information on the contract so, I used the wrong information. I paid through my credit union and they said that Sunrun has the payment but they're still trying to track it down. Then I made my second payment for May but it's showing as a payment for April because they haven't tracked down the payment for April yet. But I have the right address now and the second payment went in okay. I was really upset because I don't pay things late and now I don't know what's gonna happen with that. I hope they find it because I sent it to the Broadway location here in Phoenix. I also wish that the billing address would have been on the contract. That would've made it a lot easier. Other than that, I thought my electric bills from APS would be a little lower but they aren't. However, I had two extra people move in and that's probably the reason why.

I heard bad things about the other companies I considered and they costed a lot more. Sunrun's prices, on the other hand, were good. We went active at the end of February. I also went an overbuilt to consider how it is going degrade over time, so right now I'm producing a lot more than what I use, at least 20% a day. So far my projected settlement is -$46. We did not talk about future growth and they did make it, so I can have future growth and also batteries in the future. They included all that as part of my deal. I asked him if they would put the control panels in a certain place, which they did. I’m a stickler on detail and they were thorough. They did a great job and they were professional the day they were out here. They were in and out.
A 15-year lease was great for me. I'm retired, I’m on social security and have a little extra income. My interactions with the Sunrun salesman went well, however, I was upset by their customer service. The system was not working and I called them. The rep said it was probably not showing up on the computer and then a week later, nothing came back to me. I called the second time and asked what they were doing about my things not working. I told them that it wasn’t showing that it was working.
After that, they called somebody to come out. It started on a Thursday and then the next week, I called on the 23rd or the 29th, but they didn’t get out until the 4th to fix it. It was two and a half weeks without any solar running and that was because they didn’t get on top of it very fast. So far, I'm happy with everything except that the customer service didn’t respond. I've been living in Arizona for several years, and the weather made me look into solar energy services. My sister recommended Sunrun and enrolling with them seemed very easy. I did a lot of things online and I followed the prompts in getting set up. I have one issue with their billing though and it's a little frustrating. I set myself up for automatic withdraw and the first month, they didn’t, and then I noticed that the second month, so I paid up for the first month and the second month. And then, they didn't again. And now it's like they've got me on an every other month billing cycle, and they still haven't taken out any money from my account even though I had re-inputted my routing number and my checking account number. So, now I'm gonna owe them again for another two months.
They didn’t take my money out for February and everything went online in mid January, so I think February was my first billing cycle. I realized that in March when I got an email from them saying I don't owe them anything even though I do. So, I went to their website and I manually re-entered everything thinking maybe it was my fault. But then I haven't gotten anything deducted for April and now this is May, and I'm gonna have to do a double debit again. It's very annoying. I contacted their customer service the first time and they said they're sorry, but they see me paid and that everything's all straightened up now. But apparently, it's not. I work in a prison and I don't have access to my cell phone so I can't call them during the day. I can on weekends, but a lot of times I don't get home until 5:35 at night. I guess I'll have to try contacting them again or email them. I live alone and travel quite a bit, and my electricity is still going. Overall, everything went very smooth.

My sister is saying I’m not saving anything and that I’m not going to see any results but I learned all this on my own just by looking at my bill and reading different things.
In the long run I'm still saving money because I don’t have to pay that much. Right now I've got my fingers crossed that at the end of the year, we're not going to owe PG&E Light because everybody says I’m going to wind up owing tons of money. I told them I don’t think so. The only frustration that I have, though, is that the people who purchased it from Sunrun ended up agreeing to a higher price per kilowatt. If I were to do it today, I'd just buy the system outright. I also sent a message to customer service once because the system wasn't producing enough electricity. I finally got a reply back about a month later and it was a standard answer that did not really answer my question. Other than that, it works fine and seems to do what it's supposed to do.

I did some stupid survey online then I got a call from Sunrun about solar. I lived in Mexico for five years, so I wanted to do a system on the house and their system seemed good. My system has been up and running since May 13th and I'm up about 1,500-kilowatt hours. It's putting out a lot of power. In the beginning it was a little easy because they scheduled an installation then the local company here never got it. So, the installation was delayed several weeks. Sunrun's people, especially Jessie and Alexis, had been great.
But I have a complaint with the quality of the workmanship when they installed the panels. They're functioning perfectly but when you look at the installation, especially the beams that support the panels, you're gonna see that three-quarter of an inch gap between those two beams. The guys used hand-held power hacksaws and they were trying to cut a straight line but it don't work. The one beam is right where you can see it from the sidewalk, so it sticks out like a sore thumb. Also, some of the end caps blew off in the wind in the storm. I found one on the ground and I could see where it came from. And when the local guy was here, I put it on his ladder so he would put it back on. But he threw it back on the ground. So, the installation could've been a little neater and the local contractors that they used to install the panels need to pay a little more attention to details.
Somebody needs to come back out, too, because they left a package of hardware as in the screws and the testing component underneath one of the panels.Other than that, the system is working great. I put on the biggest system I could possibly put on and so far, so good. Everything is easy to read and the system is easy to monitor. It's easy to tell how much power it's creating and how much I have built up. I'm very satisfied and I would recommend Sunrun. I knew the system would cut my electric bill but it was turned on only since March 13th and we haven't got our first bill.
Thank you for your review, John! We really appreciate your feedback regarding your installation. Thank you for helping us create a planet run by the sun.

I looked into a solar energy system a few years back, but I didn't like the solar panels at the time and I just waited a little bit. Then I looked into it again one night when I was visiting Costco. Enrolling with Sunrun's program was really good. The customer service was great and the reps were very responsive. I really liked the rep that I dealt with. She called me all the time, followed up, and she was really good. The only challenge we had was trying to get the system in before the year-end's tax services. We were able to do that, but it was a bit challenging during that time because we started in early December and I wasn't sure that the government would keep the tax credit for next year.
My solar energy system accounts for only 65% of my energy usage and I had purposely done that. So, during the long days it has been great and we've been producing more energy than we use. The only thing that I would wanna add is a battery which is charged during off-peak times and would reap output during peak times, so that there's synthesis, but I don't know if Sunrun offers one or not. To improve their service, they could offer a couple of options of lending partners, not just one, which is the way that they have it. But other than that, I really like Sunrun. I was very happy with the process, the experience, and the rep, and I've recommended them to my friend.
Thank you for your review, Sam! We are happy to know you are satisfied with your solar system. We currently only offer the bright box (battery) to our new customers with solar. Signed a lease agreement 8 1/2 years ago. Been paying online bill pay through Chase Bank. Three payments at the end of 2017 (last quarter) they claim were not received. Funds left my account, and numerous letters, and proof of payment had been sent. I was told I was in default, and needed to pay once again, which I did with a credit card. Bottom line, I double paid $520.00. Since I'm not sure if it's a Chase bank fault, or a Sunrun fault, I have asked both companies for a written statement. Sunrun has to this date not provided me a written statement.
We are now in May 2018, and I sill have not recovered my money. I'm still chasing both tails, and have spent countless hours trying to resolve with no avail. In addition, I wanted to outright purchase my system after 8 1/2 years of leasing, and they are quoting me more to do so than the original whole system cost back in Jan. 2009. Bad accounting, bad customer service. Some reps are really nice to speak to, but they just shove it down the road, or offer to get to the bottom of it, but it's just lip service.

We already had solar on our previous house. Then we had a house fire and therefore, we had to build from the ground up. When we did that, we had planned already to put solar panels on the roof. We didn't want the batteries to store overnight because that's a huge amount of expense, so we went with the Sunrun route. Enrollment was fairly quick, easy and very pleasant. Because we had a new roof, we didn't have any features for the weight or for the install, so everything went really smooth. We got the system in November and that was before the snow came. One time, there was a power outage here on the street and we had to reset everything so I had to call and had them walk me through how to just turn everything off then turn it back on so we could get the system back up and running. They were very patient.
There was a cost associated with Sunrun though, which I wasn't expecting. So, I'm actually paying two electrical sources. Even though I'm paying a local electrical source a month, we're paying Sunrun as well. That was kind of hidden when I first went in with the agreement. Also, another issue that we had is when we have no power on the street wires, we can't utilize the solar, which we thought would help us. We thought we could slip a switch in order to generate the power that they had and put it into the whole house but that wasn't the way it went. That was another flaw in my original plan to help us out and we're way out in the country so we get power outages about a dozen times a year. This past winter, we were out of power for about four days. If I was to do the installation again, I would somehow try to make it so we can run the solar panels directly to the house or at least certain appliances.
Also, there is a drawback of the 20-year lease. It goes with the house so it makes it difficult to sell the house. I definitely like the idea but it's just not as good as I thought it was. Still, we recommend Sunrun. In the summertime, we didn't have to pay anything for electricity for three months. Not only that, it lowered our bills every other month.

I looked into solar energy services due to the national government incentive. Solar energy services are helpful with regards to the cost-effectiveness and the long-term benefits of it.
A guy from Sunrun showed up and talked about this. He did some basic measurements and some basic cost analysis. He came over with the price and it all went well. But we had a bit of an issue with Sunrun later on. The rep said that I would get the 10% back and he told me that it's only on the materials. But he told me that the materials were more expensive than they were and was actually like most the cost with the labor and engineers and people on the back end. That was a bit misleading and I was a little upset about that. Nevertheless, Sunrun got that rectified a bit and we proceeded.
The interactions with the project manager, who I dealt with, were good. I only dealt with their customer service when my roof was leaking. It turned out, they didn't put the seals over some other brawny brackets. So they came back out and that took about two weeks. By the time I talked to the first person on a Friday, and then at Monday, I got a call from the project lead and they got a hold of somebody. But then, someone dropped the ball, so I called back again, and then they backed out. Once the right people got involved, the project manager lady got in there and she got the people out there the next day. That was fine, but that was something I wouldn't expect to happen from a company like that.
My production has been outdoing my usage, so that's not really good. But we'll see how that goes. Now, it's just the power company where I'm supposed to get some credit and they don't really show what that credit is. Nevertheless, I like going solar. My power went to almost nothing and I don't have a power bill. I'd recommend Sunrun to others, but there's a better caution. Make sure that they understand what people say and ask questions out because what I thought they meant and what they really meant were two different things.

A sales guy on behalf of Sunrun showed up at my door in 2012. I fell for his lies. Lie #1. My electric bill would go up and Sunrun would lock me at a low rate (the opposite occurred, my electric went down and Sunrun price went up). Lie # 2. I would save a $50 or more a money (I save $113 for the entire year). Lie # 3 I was told I would get Black solar panel (I was installed blue).
***Now the next problem. Back when I signed my solar contract, I was never given the opportunity to get critter guard when I leased my panels. As a result this, a squirrel not only chewed my solar panels but it chewed a huge HOLE in my roof. It built the hole because it had the shelter of the solar panels. The squirrel lived only on my roof, under the panels. It chewed my panels and no one from SUNRUN ever called to tell me my panels were not effectively working. On February 2, 2018, water leaked into my nine year old daughter’s room from a storm. I was confused since she had an attic above her room. That is when I discovered I had a hole in my roof. Well, I had water damage, black MOLD, bees, and thousands of dollars of repairs, Sunrun would not cover. I never heard of a squirrel chewing a hole in a roof without panels, have you?
I had to cover the bill of all the damage. Sunrun took off my solar panels, “free of charge” so I could fix my roof. Well it has been a month, and still no panels back on... Why? Because they do not make blue panels anymore. Back in 2012, I was promised black panels, Sunrun gave me blue. I complained in 2012. Sunrun did nothing. Now nobody makes blue panels in 2018 and Sunrun is now going to give me a few black panels, so I have a black and blue panels on my roof on the front of my house. I am told have a contract, so it does not matter what my roof looks like. So now, I have this contract for 20 YEARS with a black and blue roof and I am spending more money than I am saving.
To this day, I still have not have my panels on my roof and I get charged a monthly fee of $90. I saved $113 for the year and paid out of pocket THOUSANDS of dollars. I have had to call multiple times and I have spent hours of the phone or sending emails trying to get this resolved. NOBODY cares from Sunrun to get this resolved. When you see a sales guy from this company, I would tell you to RUN!

Due to the environment and cost of electricity here, I started looking into solar energy services. I looked at Sunrun reviews and they were good. And then Costco works with Sunrun and vetted them out well. Also, I'm on a professional networking group, and one of Sunrun's reps is in my group. I've known him for a while and I trusted him. He came and explained my options and we started the process. Enrolling with Sunrun was a smooth experience, and all Sunrun people kept in touch with me the whole time and they kept moving until it was done.
One of the other things that stuck out on them was that Sunrun use their own people. They don't subcontract out the people to do the work. So far, I'm happy going solar. And from what I know, Sunrun already generated quite a bit of energy which people are surprised to hear. One thing that has been a bummer was that I have referred a few people to Sunrun, however, they can't talk to anybody out. So, it seems like the referral program might go out the window on that. It'd be nice to be part of that referral program even if they happened to put their name in at Costco to get some info. But I still tell them my experience with Sunrun and that they could come and look at it.

There were a lot of promises from the sales rep that didn’t hold water and he wasn’t very informative. For instance, I didn’t change my plan before I got grandfathered in and nobody told me so I’m still paying a generation charge every month on top of my solar lease. Those two combined are higher than my straight electric bill would be. And I’m trying to fix that with the electric company.
He also didn’t get the right size for my house. The original contract said that it would be 78% and I asked why it was not 100%. He told me that I would be generating so much power that I would still gonna have an excess and then I would be doing credits back. The sales guy tweaked all the way through. I was thinking that he knew what he was talking about. I'd even called Sunrun numerous times asking if I could get more panels on my array. However, they would have to set up another array with another array and that was crazy. Sunrun is the parent company and they didn't have anything to do with it until after I had my permission to operate which began in February.

One of the nephew's cousin used to work for a solar company here in the area but I didn't go through with it. Then, later he told me that he works for Sunrun and so I went ahead and gave it a try and they did it a couple of months ago. He was okay but I wasn't happy with how the installers installed the system. I have roof tiles and they removed them to put the system in and they left some broken tiles on the roof. If I have leaves on the ground and stuff, I go pick them up because I don't like the way it looks. So, I see my roof up there and I still can see the tile out and I can't get on the roof. I can only imagine how it really looks. And eventually, water leaked through.
Also, they were supposed to install my inverter but gentleman who was supposed to do it, didn't bring it out the day of the installation. The guy told me that they'll come back the next day in the morning to finish up because they still have another installation in my town. The next day, it rained and I waited for them until 1 PM. By then I figured that they don't work in the rain, so I went off and did other businesses around town. I came back at 6:30 PM and somewhere along the line when I drove off they came into my property, got on the roof, and did everything they did. The next day, they called me as I was coming home from work and told me that they were done. I was like, "What you mean you guys are done? You guys still have to finish the rest of that." They told me, "No, we went yesterday in the afternoon and took care of that." But they didn't even give me a call.
They put the convertibox 4 feet from where I actually wanted it. Their manager told me that they're gonna take care of it but a month later, the same installer comes out and all he was gonna do was move it down about a fourth. I was like, "No, that's not what I wanted. I want you to move it where I want it over here." And he was like, "No, I'm not gonna do that." I said, "Okay, then. If you're not gonna do that then there's no reason to move it down. Leave it where it's at and have a good day." And that's basically it. Am I happy? Not 100%. I feel like I'll have a say so of where I actually wanted my system installed. The system saves me $100 a month but if I had to do it all over again, I would've gone with another company that wasn't gonna cheat me my needs and wants. It's hard to recommend them.

Also, when we are ready to sell the house, I want to be able to tell people that it's a good quality system up there. Sunrun's a good name so that also helps. Everybody at Sunrun was cordial, on time, very thorough and did a great job. It's also interesting to watch the solar every day and see what's going on with it before you receive some bills so I'm happy with it. It's doing what it said it was gonna do.
Also, we had a power outage here for four days last year and I thought it would be good to have a backup battery so we purchased the Brightbox battery which we can point out if we sell our place in the future. Sunrun is awesome and I love them. They are a national company and the only one that offered a lease program. I was beyond impressed when I enrolled with them as the process was easy and completely seamless from start to finish. They were also extremely professional. My local project manager kept me apprised of every step of the installation process, in addition to the progress updates I get from the app I downloaded. I've also had interaction with their customer service team and it's been excellent.
There's a bit of a hiccup with my panels, though. They were supposed to be installed inverted at an angle so they can capture the most amount of sun but they weren't. They were installed flat and there's currently a work order in place to resolve that issue. So now the panels are not optimum and not mitigating my electric bill like it was supposed to. But the experience was really good and once they reinstall the panels, I’ll have a better idea.

Due to the rising cost of electricity and utility, getting solar energy was something I had to do. It is a way to kill two birds with one stone. Plus, Costco is a good retailer and they take care of their customers. I figured it would be a good move for me because they serviced us well. And if there are any problems, Costco is good at handling issues like that and I could just get a hold of them. I talked with the gentleman from Sunrun there at Costco. Then he sent another representative over who explained the whole system to me and how long it was gonna take. They were proficient in doing what they do and it went really smoothly. Plus, every time someone came out, they were very professional, answered any questions that I had and would follow up again. They're customer-oriented and it has been a win-win for me.
With Sunrun, my utility bill has gone down from $100 plus a month down to $12 a month. I have a jacuzzi and a sauna, which use quite a bit of energy. Everything is good and I don't have to worry about how often I use the sauna. I can go in there daily if I wish. The other day, Edison was doing some work on our lines and they told us that our power was gonna be off. My power went off and that was when the battery kicked in. It operated the designated things that I had set up with the representative from Sunrun. He asked what I wanted the battery to run if I had a power outage. I wanted my refrigerator, our bedroom, another room and the laundry room. When the power went out, those kicked on and we were able to use them. It was a good test. Sunrun is a very professional company and the service has been very good. I would recommend them to anyone.

I was trying to lower my electric bill and help out the environment at the same time. Also, I got a lot of sun in my house and I wanted to take advantage of it so I looked into solar energy services. The person I talked to when I was enrolling with Sunrun was very nice and polite. This dealer explained everything to me, like how it would come and do the work. If it ever goes wrong and I hear strange noises coming from the equipment outside of the house, I could notify them and they would come right away and do what they have to do. So far, everything is going smoothly. I tried to be less attached to it as I can but I look up at it every now and then and make sure the panels are alright. I talked to a few other people and they were interested in it so I gave them the phone number of the fellow who came to me.

I was interested in solar energy for a while and since I live in Southern California where there's nothing but sun, it didn’t make sense to not use solar energy so I took the plunge. Enrolling at Sunrun was a little rough and difficult at first because the salesperson, the project manager, and I understood different things. But once I got it going, the enrollment was easier. I haven't seen a change in my bills yet, but the project itself went up smoothly. Also, the customer service has been great. I called them a couple of times just to check to see how my system was working. And one time, I wasn’t sure if it even was and they sent someone out.

I ended up having a really outrageous light bill and I couldn’t keep doing that so I looked into solar energy. My brother's friend came over and he was talking about Sunrun, but it was The Grid Company that chose Sunrun, who they worked with all the time. Enrolling with Sunrun was a pleasure. It seemed like the easiest thing I've ever done. It was easy to work with them and the process was smooth. They then gave me a timeframe and they finished the project before what they had estimated. One time, they noticed that the system wasn’t working right so they called to schedule an appointment to come out and check it out. Talking to them was comfortable. Moreover, they seemed concerned about the issue.
Sunrun brought my PG&E bill down way lower than what it was. I don’t feel the pressure of having to have the high energy bill and worrying about having to pay it off and making arrangements. Plus, having Sunrun allows me to pay off the $700 I owe PG&E in the first place. I'm very satisfied with my decision to go with Sunrun. I don’t really like a lot of complicated stuff and they took all the complication out of everything. I'd tell friends that my experience with Sunrun has been the best that I've had and that on the whole, customer service was really pleasurable. I recommend them to friends.

My son just installed a Sunrun about six months ago and he advised me it's good and it saves money. The enrollment process was also very good. Everything was excellent. I felt good with the person that came to explain to me everything and he ran everything in front of me. He came up with some good solutions for me. I know it was like more expensive than the other ones but he gave me a bigger unit.
Sunrun also had a very good installation crew. They did everything like it was up to be excellent service. I cannot really complain about them. They did excellent job. I'm satisfied with everything. Except one thing -- the salesperson. He explained to me things that I would be able to cover more and he gave me a bigger system but I have some difficulty. I have the manager's phone number and I'm in contact with them. We're working on solving that little issue. But definitely people need to go with them. I already recommended my sister-in-law and they already installed a bigger system than mine in Palm Springs.

We moved into a new house and knew that the electric bill was going to be much more expensive than the townhouse we were moving from. We did an online Google search and Sunrun's name came up along with a couple of others and we made appointments with several. We love Jay, Sunrun's salesman. With Sunrun, we liked that there wasn’t a lien going to be put on my house because we own our own business and that looks very bad for my credit. We also liked that our roof faces different directions and we were going to be eligible for plastic solar panels without a huge outlay of money upfront.
We had a wonderful experience enrolling with them. Everything has been top-notched and they handled everything for getting the project inspected. They met us here when each one of the county inspectors was coming. There were several different county people that had to come and approve it. And then, PG&E had to come and approve it. Sunrun walked us through the whole process and to carry the paperwork and had a representative here every time. It did not match some of my other friends' experience when they went with SolarCity, and we were very happy.
Overall, the process wasn’t fast but it was easy. It took a couple of months to get everything installed and up and running. They kept us updated as things were happening and their customer service called me to tell me that they wanted to come take another look at our system and take some pictures of it. Our system got installed in January which has the least amount of sun so we had an exceptionally cold winter here in Maryland with a lot of wind. The first month, my electric bill didn’t seem to change much. But the bill that I just received for March was $48 from the electric company. As the sunny days enters and we waved goodbye to the cold, it will cover everything so we're excited. I'm 100% satisfied to go solar and I'm super happy.
I'd give Jay a gold star ‘cause he has solar panels on his roof which kinda also helped us to lean towards Sunrun. Jay kept up with us through the process. He was easy to reach. He was available by text and if I thought of something, I could text him then he texts me back sometime in the next 24 hours. I've recommended Sunrun to a few friends. Sunrun gives me an accurate expectation as to how much the solar the panels that go in our roof will cover the electricity that we use in our house so that was really helpful.
Everybody on their crew from the guy in-charge like the crew chief down to the guy picking up the pieces that the installations guys might drop were polite, kind, respectful, smiled and seemed happy to work here. Everybody was lovely and we have had an awesome experience from beginning to end. Jay, our salesman is fun and passionate. Our installation team was not only efficient, but friendly too. The Sunrun team member who was meeting our final inspectors were patient. We can tell by our experience that Sunrun has worked very hard in their hiring of people to represent their company.

I have turned down several people trying to put solar panels on my roof in but I finally decided to do it with Sunrun. There was an installation glitch and they came out and fixed it. My control box is on the side of the house. It doesn’t have a sidewalk to it and I’m handicapped. They sent someone out to turn it on and when they found the glitch that I pointed my neighbor found, they delayed turning it on and repaired it, and came out and turned it on without talking to me again.
I’ve only been on Sunrun for two months. It’s evidently working because I got a lower bill from APS. I didn’t realize how much it put APS out of the loop in terms of funding. The purchasing of the loan for the installation was done through APS. I thought they were making a thing on that one. That was one that I never got a discussion about, what the financing cost on that was as opposed to anything else like paying cash. That was information I wanted because sometimes I’ve gotten money to cover a couple of outlays like that. It saves me money.

I saw military discount for solar panels on the internet and I just put my name and address. And then Sunrun called me up. They provided a questionnaire. I filled out where I live and all that. And then Bryan called me up when he was in California and then in Oklahoma. But Hawaii is a little slow sometimes. I didn't get the discount. They said I wasn't qualified for that, which is fine. They explained it all to me and that I'd be making money off it.
As soon as I put the Sunrun unit in, we probably got more rain than Hawaii's got in probably 20 years. But we'll still end up selling back a lot of electricity because there's nobody here to use it. But even on a cloudy day and it's overcast it's still generating powers. The guy from Sunrun explained everything, showed me how everything works. And in case we have a hurricane or lava flow or something and the power goes out completely like the commercial power we could just flip the switch and just go straight solar. And it will run for a couple of hours anyway or more.

I had been looking into solar energy as soon as I bought my house two years ago. I was trying to find the best thing and I found Sunrun at Costco. They said that I would get a rebate, but I said I wouldn't because I'd lease the system instead to finance them. Alex and Christopher were outstanding. Everything they said that was going to happen happened exactly the way it did. The installation people were awesome as well. They installed everything and they were quicker than they said they were going to be.
However, my experience with going solar has been hell. It died six days after they started it up. They didn’t call me and let me know it died. I had just assumed I was on solar the whole time. They didn’t even know it died. I went out there and looked and said, "Wait a minute. Why is my electric bill $300 when I’m supposed to be using solar?” When I called them, the lady on the other line said, “And you didn’t notice? What do you want me to do about it?” Then they sent someone out and said he fixed it. However, it didn't work. He replaced a single part on the system and then that blew up, so then they had to come out with a new system. So the machine was not working and a rep told me that there’s nothing she can do for me and that I have to pay my bill and wait. I love the salespeople but I didn't care for the call center.
I just paid $149 for two months and then I paid another $400 to my regular electric bill. So now I’m out $700 and I never received service from them. I told them I want my money back and they told me that they would give it back on my anniversary. But I would definitely recommend them. We just got a dumb deal on our machine. There's not much we can do about that.

I have the perfect roof. The back roof of my house faces south, there’s lots of room on it for solar panels, and I had been considering getting them for the purpose of going green and cutting down on my cost each month. I had a Sunrun salesman come over and we talked about it. Then I made my decision which I hope is the right one. I went with a 20-year paid upfront lease, so, I’m hoping they are still in business in 20 years. There was a contract to sign then I had to put $500 upfront to get the program started. Then I had to put money up and pay the rest of it after it was installed. They had to get all the approvals from APS here before they could turn the system on and everything went fine until one little glitch later on.
When I turned it on in about February about five months later, my inverter went out and would not produce power anymore. After a couple of days that it was not producing anything, I notified Sunrun about it. It was their equipment and they were the ones that were supposed to be monitoring this. They said they usually let it go three days before they check it out. I told them I needed to get somebody out here to find out what was going on and it was about a week later that somebody came and checked it out, and verified that it was the inverter that was bad. So I figured they’d get one right on there and that it wouldn’t take very long. But it was a month between the time it went out and when they finally got another inverter on there. I was a bit upset about that because I lost all my credits and my bill was higher.
The system got working again but at the end of the year it did not produce as much power that they said it would. Sunrun cut me a check for the difference, so that made me a little happier. Other than that, everything seemed to go pretty smooth. I was happy with the salesman. I called him several times to ask him various questions about what was going on and he got things moving even though it took a long time. The installer and the ones who did the repair was Titan Solar Power and I tried to be understanding because I knew they had a lot of business and they were busy trying to beat APS and their regulations. But it seemed to me that it was an excessive amount of time to get another inverter put on. Surely they had extra inverters if they were putting solar panels on houses.
There was also a design change at the last minute. I had a picture of how they were going to put the panels which covered the entire roof. But when they started putting the panels on, it was not the design that was approved. So I called my salesperson and he found out they didn’t take into account that I had a fireplace exhaust that was causing a little bit of shade. So they had to change the design a little bit which didn’t bother me that much. I have 34 panels up there and I’m overall satisfied with what they did. We haven’t had much rain here to find out whether or not I’ve got any leakage but they’re supposed to fix those if there is any.
My start date was January 24th and the solar panel unit has produced 101% of my estimated electricity usage. So, I’m not dissatisfied with the company. I’m understanding of things that go wrong and so as long as they keep it working, and I have the contract here and they take care of what’s supposed to be taken care of, I’ll be happy.

I shopped around quite a bit for solar panels and I first heard about Sunrun through Costco. Our electricity bill at our home was pretty high so I thought that solar energy services might do something to help us out. However, I'm not happy with Sunrun at all because I purchased an 80%-20% offset and $23,000 in solar panels and my electricity bill has probably only gone down 50%. The 80% was not accurate and I have a lot of issues with Sunrun at the beginning too. With the installation, they ran a grounding cable across the front of my house and attached it to the spigot. It was absolutely awful. The guy came out and he gave me a credit and apologized, which I accepted. It was fine, but it hasn’t met my expectations whatsoever.
One of the things the sales people told me was that they were going to get all the tax credits when we file our taxes, but that was false too and I didn’t get any of that. I only got a small portion of it. Not the labor and everything else that they told me and got on the email. So, I had my friend write an email to Sunrun and ask about the tax credit and the same guy responded that he would get 30% tax credit across the board. He responded to him the message that he gave me which was wrong and false. I was lied to and it didn’t meet the expectations that they spoke of. I would never recommend solar to anybody.
I'm making payments on this stuff to purchase it but it doesn’t do what it's expected to do. Also, I refinanced my house and when the appraiser came over, I said that I got solar panels on the house too, but he said that solar panels don’t increase the value of the home. That hit me hard too because I expected that to be a home improvement which would increase the value of my home. So, there's been a lot of negatives that have come my way. I should have spoken with my dad more about it because he knows so much about the industry and he would never get solar panels either. The technology is just not there yet. I'm not satisfied with solar at all. Don't get solar panels.

I saw Sunrun there and they answered my questions and it seemed like it was a pretty good deal so I decided to go with them. Everything went very well and they had it installed in the time frame that was promised. However, there was a problem later on. A couple of solar panels were loose but Sunrun came over within a day and took care of it.
There's a console outside and a few things that I can access from the menu and it would be nice if Sunrun would send a PDF file on how to access and read the panel that generates electricity. It would be very helpful to have something that shows me what its capabilities are and how to go through the menu. And now, the days are a little bit longer so we generate more solar. And our energy bill is less than what it was before so it's nice. And since we paid cash for the solar panels, we had no outstanding bill, so it's savings for us. Our experience with Sunrun was very good and I'm very pleased.

Do not buy a Sunrun LG battery. It makes no financial sense. MAYBE it will when SDG&E moves my peak time of use from 11 AM-6 PM to 4 PM-9 PM in the future. My LG battery is never discharged on weekends, even on hot summer days. It is not discharged at all from October through April. Here is the Sunrun response to battery usage:
"Thank you for contacting Sunrun Customer Care in regards to the battery discharge. During winter rates, the battery does not discharge. BrightBox - SDG&E: DR-SES (NEM 1.0). Summer = May 1 - September. Summer weekdays we cycle: Charge from solar production before 11 am. Discharge 11 am - 6 pm. Weekends are all OFF PEAK. So I paid $4,000 for the LG battery to be used May through September, 5 days a week. So 5 months times 5 days per week equals about 110 days of battery usage out of 365 day year."
This limitation is not in my Sunrun contract, nor was this limitation mentioned or documented in the sales and installation discussion. The Sunrun web page states only (my emphasis): "Depending on your neighborhood’s electricity rate structure, Brightbox can offset energy costs when electricity rates are at their peak. And in a blackout, your Brightbox offers a sustainable source of energy so you don’t have to spend on unruly and expensive generators. Maximum savings? We’ll take that any day."
Brightbox is the Sunrun term for solar panels with the LG battery attached. Note Sunrun does not state any details about the actual usage of the battery. The irony is that the SolarEdge Inverter is programmable through a simple user interface to allow any time any day battery usage. Of course Sunrun controls the battery usage and will not change the scheduled usage. Why? I believe it is to extend the life of the LG battery to 20 years. So, if you are considering a Sunrun solar system, skip the battery and save yourself a few thousand dollars.
Updated on 07/14/2018: Now 2018 is the second year of operation and Sunrun, without notification, limits the battery usage even more. In 2017 the LG battery was allowed to discharge to 20%. Now in 2018, they limit the discharge to 35%, effectively reducing its usefulness and making the $4,000 cost payback period even longer. Sunrun technical response to my complaint is as follows:
"Thank you for contacting Sunrun Customer Care in regard to your BrightBox battery. The state of California is a state where they have frequent power outages. The battery is built to not go below 30-35%. That way if the power goes out you will have four hours of use from the battery. I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need anything else."
Two points. I have lived in current home 14 years and have had one power outage (before Sunrun installation), so preserving battery at 35% seems like an unlikely need. (At 35% level there is so little energy left in the battery, it will not help power my home through a multiple hour power outage.) Second, nowhere in the Sunrun contract nor on the website do they mention any limit to battery usage. I have not found any LG RESU 10 documentation that limits its discharge to 35%.
Why is Sunrun doing this? To preserve the LG RESU 10 for the length of the 20 year lease so they do not have to pay for a replacement battery. I suspect next year Sunrun will lower battery discharge to 50% and so on until it is not used at all and can for sure last the 20 years. If you get a Sunrun system, do not pay for the battery (regardless if LG or Tesla or whatever).

If you don’t understand the verbiage of a lease, don’t trust them to disclose everything. I was lied to when asked about certain things, the salesperson convinced me it was a good deal, lied about everything, offered to help me with my pool solar on his own time, talked about church, gained my trust so I would sign the deal with the devil. I’ve been unhappy since day 1, but I own up to signing the lease. The kicker though is their panels caused a leak, warranty was for only 5 years, I didn’t know this or else I wouldn’t have signed. How am I liable for their panels causing a leak, regardless if it’s 5, 10, or 15 years, damage is damage, it should be covered through the lease life. There are so many other issues besides that, I’m paying actually more per month than I used to prior to panels.
The salesperson visited me 2 years prior and I told them it doesn’t make sense to me to install solar. The second time around I asked why does it make sense now? Well, he lied his way through, oh, said salesperson was fired shortly after my deal. I’m only now complaining because I was just going to deal with the crap, but now that my roof leaks and I have to pay, that’s just wrong and I was stupid, lesson learned. We are now stuck with this for 11 more years, it has changed our lives financially while they rip us off. I asked for them to take them down, $39,000, what a joke.

I signed up Sunrun a few months ago. The individual who explained the process to my family and I, along with their inspectors provided falsified impressions regarding snow related questions. The solar panels were installed and it snowed a few times resulting in heavy dumping of the snow onto the second part of the roof which results in the house and windows shaking. We specifically asked if there are any complaints with customers and the snow running off, we were told, "No, there are no issues with the snow, it does not even weigh down on the panels." We trusted the employees’ statements. This was a total disaster - I cannot sleep in my room or cook in the kitchen because of the heavy dumping when it snows. And not the mention, the potential damage to vehicles in the yard.
When I emailed my representative, she said they cannot do anything about this and that we can pay up to $3000 to get snow guards installed; they even recommended a company who they use for this issue because it’s common. WHY DID THEY lie to us when all the SNOW RELATED QUESTIONS WERE ASKED - instead, we were told there are no issues! I replied to the email, every week for 3 weeks I sent the same email and NO ONE to date has replied to my email. I called my representative and she was unbelievably rude on the phone and even hung up; I was told to avoid those areas in the house when it snows! I called the individual who introduced us to the system and to date he is avoiding all our calls/texts and emails. This company just wants your money. If you have any issues at all, they will ignore you and not take your complaints serious.
The stress we have gone through with this company is not worth anyone’s time; their employees are not reliable and trustworthy. Please at all costs, please avoid them. I wish I read reviews before signing up with them. If the company falsified reports of their sales and was investigated by The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and has lawsuits against false marketing - IT IS NOT a COMPANY to GO WITH. Now I am stuck with the panels and no one from the company to returns calls or reply to emails. AVOID! Another issue - my contract on the app still says I will be paying $80, when I got a new contract that says I will be paying $72 due to adjustments needed upon further review by the inspectors prior to installation; so far the system is not turned on by Sunrun so let’s see what other issues I face.
Thank you for your communication, Sherry. We understand your frustration regarding your panels when it snows. Our management team is working on resolving this matter for you. Someone will be in touch shortly.

I've been working with Freedom Solar and Sunrun installed the system and did everything else. They always answer the phone when I call and they always try to resolve whatever issues I got. Sunrun helps me save money with the electric company and so far, it's working fine. I would tell my friends to go solar.
Thank you so much for sharing, Edward! We absolutely loved reading your review. Providing the best customer experience is our aim, and it all starts by doing the simple things. So glad to have you as a customer. When you're happy we're happy!

I'm a techy type of guy so solar energy always fascinates me. Two of my neighbors got solar energy service and they gave me positive feedback so, I decided to find out for myself. And then, Sunrun gave me a quote and I was happy with it. I enrolled with them and it was painless. They updated me as they go and it was quick. I'm pleased with them. The interaction I had with customer service was also great. They answered every question I had and they were honest.
It has been worry free since they mounted the system up and I look at the app that tells me it's working and making energy. It would reduce my bi-physical electrical company bill, which was my objective with going solar, and I'm sure my daughters will react about it and we tell them that we're helping do a part in energy consumption. My experience with Sunrun was very good and I have recommended them to my friends. Anyone interested should go ahead and use them as well because they make things simple.
Thanks for sharing, Yougeshwar. We are so happy to hear you are having a great experience so far. I do want to make a clarification because transparency is very important to us. Thank you for helping us create a planet run by the sun.

I knew that that metering thing was coming to an end so we looked into solar energy services. We are moving into a new house and I wanted to consider reducing our power bill. The Sunrun sales rep, Lauren, kept me abreast of what was going on and she kept following up. We were pushing the deadline to make it to qualifying and being grandfathered and Lauren made it happen. She was just fantastic. We haven’t moved into that house yet but I know the system was not designed to cover all of our energy needs. It was basically to cover the peak demand in Arizona. Last month wasn’t a really hot month but I had a very nice electric bill. It was $16. We weren’t using any power to speak of but even so, Sunrun covered all the fees and everything else associated with it so I was happy there. I would recommend Sunrun and I recommended a friend already.
Thanks for your contact, John! We strive to give a one-of-a-kind customer experience! We were so happy to read your review! We appreciate your support and excited to welcome you to the Sunrun family.

Enrolling with Sunrun was very easy. Their reps were good and had answers for all our queries. It's only been two months since the installation, and it's okay right now.

Energy keeps going up and up and we had a $400 electric bill last summer, so it was just time to research another avenue to explore. I was researching solar for the house that I bought in June of last year and Sunrun was one of the companies that came up, together with Horizon and some other ones. I contacted them along with the other companies. Sunrun came out and gave me a presentation and I decided to go with them. Enrolling with Sunrun was really easy. The guy, Chris, came and gave his presentation and we talked about it. They set up an account for me so that I can go online and check my progress. They also sent update emails which keeps me informed, which I found really great so I don’t always have to call and say, “Hey, what are we doing?” They keep me updated unless something comes up until the last minute. But for the most part, what they said was going to happen, happened.
I liked the fact that Sunrun has been in business and that they have their warranties on your roof. They were very personable and very accommodating. They answered all my questions and there wasn’t a hesitation like thinking about an answer to come up with for a question. They knew their stuff and that made me feel comfortable with them.
Genevieve has been my contact at Sunrun and we’ve spoken a couple times. We had to change a couple of inspection dates because of my days off and she was very accommodating. She had to contact Edison and the City to get the inspectors come out on a different date. The days that they didn’t need access to the house weren’t a problem. But the days that they did, we had to change twice. It was well within a reasonable time limit. It was only around seven to ten days difference, so it worked out really well.
We just got to turn on our system at the end of March, so we really haven’t had a bill yet. But from what they told me and the fact that they gave me the figures, I’m sure the bill is going to be a lot less than the hundred-dollar bills that we’ve been getting. Being a single person with my youngest son living with me still, we needed to find something that we could count on every month that this would be the bill so we could manage our systems and our budget. There are no surprises, so that helps as well. We know exactly what we’re going to be paying.
My son has friends that have purchased solar systems and have regretted not getting the Brightbox Battery simply because we experience quite a few power outages during the summertime. So, with having that as a backup, we feel more confident that the freezer won’t go out and all the food get spoiled on that. However, the one thing that I don’t really like is the fact that Sunrun wants me to sign up for autopay so they don’t charge me a service charge. I hate being forced into doing that to save money. That should just be an option and it bothered me a little. In the grand scheme of things, it’s got to get paid anyway. They let me choose my payment date and they offer me that option. It’s not a big deal but I don’t like having that as part of saving money. They should offer that to their client as a matter of convenience. Other than that, I’m hoping that when we get our bill, we’ll still be happy.
Thanks for sharing, Karen. Our goal is to meet your expectations. So thrilled you're a part of our mission in creating a planet run by the sun!

We had been thinking about solar energy services for a while and we just happened to be at Costco one day, then we decided to have Sunrun come out and give us an estimate. I researched a little bit before deciding to go through it and they have very high ratings. They came out last summer and we hadn’t been in our house long enough to get a good, accurate estimate on how many panels we were allowed to buy, so we decided to wait until we had been in the house for a year. We told them to come out in October and that was great. Their rep was awesome, so we decided to go ahead with it.
For the most part up until the installation, everything went great. Then the installation came and it didn’t pass inspection. The inspector came back and said there was a bunch of stuff that they had to do, so they came back and did that. Then another inspector came and wanted to do different stuff. It was a nightmare. They finished the installation initially in the first part of November and didn’t actually turn on the system until February. They said that it was because the City changed the regulations.
After they turned it on, we got a call that it’s not communicating with Sunrun, so they sent somebody out to take a look at it. My daughter was there and they told her something. Apparently, the box thing inside of the house wasn’t working so they took it, turned it off and didn’t tell us. I didn’t even know they had been there until I noticed when I checked the outlet that there was no generation. I called them and they told me I needed a new box because mine was not working properly. They said it would take two weeks. Fortunately, it took about eight days until they came back and put the new box on and it’s been fine since.
The system started working properly in the middle of February. We just paid our very first bill for the whole month and it was $13. Before it was a $100 to $200. At this point, though, I’m a little concerned because we don’t have the build up. The way it works in Nevada is, in the winter time we build up the credits because in the summer time, it’s so hot here that sometimes our air conditioning bill in the summer reaches $600. I hope that they’re never that high again but I think we’re going to still end up paying some bills in the summertime. But other than that and the guy turning it off and not telling me, I would recommend Sunrun because everything went smooth. They were also always very nice and very courteous.

I found out that Sunrun would do everything for free. It was an easy and pleasant experience enrolling with them and the crew kept me up to date during installation. It's been pretty good, so far. It took me almost three months before it got rid of my Duke Power electric bill, but now my power bill has gone from 200 to 66. It did more than cut my electric bill in half.
