I have solar service at another property and I was looking at adding it to another property. It has a Spanish tile roof and Sunrun was one of the vendors who would be able to service that type of a roof. Enrolling with them was okay but I had little challenges with communication. Some of the people were transitioning, so they left the company. As soon as everything was set up from the sales guy, they handed it over to Sunrun to install and implement some other communication stuff which was less consistent.
I still have an unresolved issue and the challenge with them was the lack of follow-ups. When my service was turned on, it wasn't fully operational for about six weeks. I've got two inverters and only one of them was working but I was charged for the full flat amount of solar usage even though it was only producing half the amount. I was told that I was gonna get a credit for that guaranteed service and I still haven't seen that nor has anybody followed up. But, overall, my experience with Sunrun has been fine.
Thank you for the review, Marty! We are so pleased to hear that you chose Sunrun as your solar service provider. We understand your concerns with communication and getting compensated. A specialist will be reaching out to you shortly to make sure we get your concerns resolved.

I had a SunRun solar system installed and in operation for about two years. I have had multiple problems from roof leaking to no solar service for over 30 days. I recently discovered my roof leaking in a different spot that was leaking previously. Calling the customer support line at 855 4786786 only results in a recording for over 90 minutes and still waiting to talk with someone to get my roof repaired.
Thank you for the feedback, Joe. It is disheartening to hear of all the issues you have encountered since going solar. We want to handle all roof leak cases in a timely manner, I understand that there are long wait times to reach a representative through our customer care line, I apologize for this. But I definitely advised you to hang on just a little longer so we can get something scheduled as soon as possible for you. We've been experiencing longer than normal wait times lately. We'd love to work towards a resolution together, a specialist will be reaching out to you shortly.

Also, their reps were very friendly and knowledgeable. They kept me up with time and with schedules and on everything that was going on. They provided great service and they definitely lowered my bills.

Someone came to my door, talked to me about solar services, and negotiated about a couple things. Another company came in and I jumped around getting different solar quotes then I eventually winded up with Sunrun. The enrollment went well and my guy was great. He would just stand up and didn't run around. I've had solar services for a few months now and it's good. They gave me a free roof and they told me they were gonna send me gift cards of $1,500 to pay the roofer but they didn't do it. They told me that it was delivered to my home, that I received it, and I was basically responsible for it. The roof was $13,000 and the less $1,500 was supposed to be with the gift card to give to the roofer. Other than don't listen to Sunrun if they tell you they're gonna send the gift cards, I would recommend them.
Thank you for the review, Anthony! We are so pleased to hear that your solar has been working great for you! A specialist will be reaching out to you in regards to those gift cards. Congrats on going solar, and thanks so much for helping us on our mission to create a planet run by the sun!

This is an apology. I need to correct what I said. I said the original proposal was 8 panels. I read the "Contract" paperwork yesterday. I feel real bad for making Sunrun look bad. It was not a "Bait and Switch" as I claimed. 18 panels is correct number that what we signed for. Both portions of my roof to be used as written.
Original Review: Oct. 31, 2018
My name is Jeff **. I live at **. Use Google Earth to view. My experience with GEN110, Hero and Sunrun is not good. I am 69 and retired. The prospects of a lower electric bill looked very good. The original Hero/GEN110 program proposal in Feb. 2014 was a complete 8 panel system installed over a shed garage roof. Using Google Earth, their expert engineers determined that a system could be installed with minimal intrusion to our property and neighbors view. They were correct in the location and view.
“The Bait.” I was on vacation/business and out of the country. My wife was contacted about a small mistake in the calculation made on the proposal/contract. We would not meet the savings that was promised using the original quoted 8 panels over the garage roof. “The Switch” We would need 10 additional panels to meet the original projected savings. Could the prospect of free real estate on my residence to generate electricity be passed up by HERO, GEN110 or Sunrun.
My wife has no knowledge of construction nor the ability to asses lifespan of a product. She asked to have the roof inspected before installing the extra 10 panels. The roof was deemed by their professional inspector to be in "GOOD" condition. The asphalt shingles were installed in 1991. My wife went by the inspector's opinion. Now it is 3 years later and I need a new roof installed on a very old roof. I can't have a new roof until I have the solar removed. I am being charge $3,200.00 by Sunrun to remove and replace all 18 panels.
I cannot believe that government was 225% wrong in estimating savings I would see in the future. The shed roof was installed in 1998 (20 years old) and was used to establish the quote with 8 solar panels. The shed roof could be easily be resurfaced in 1 day and considered as a simple repair to the city of Costa Mesa. HERO, GEN110 and Sunrun said they would give us 1 week notice before they would start the work. That leaves plenty of time for me to have the roof fixed.
The main roof was installed in 1991 (28 years old) on which the additional 10 panels are located. I have an asphalt shingle roof. I have been lucky to have had only small leaks over the years. I was going to have the roof replaced before installing the solar. HERO, GEN110 and Sunrun pushed to install and falsely reported the poor condition of my roof to my wife. They said it would be OK to install the solar system. Today, replacing the roof is not the question I have. It is a necessity I am willing to pay for. My question is who is ultimately responsible for installing new equipment onto an obviously old roof.
GEN110 falsely presented their product as to the size and location needed. They said we could pay off the lease at any time. Now they say we can only pay on the principal to lower monthly payments only. They did not mention about the lien on the property lasting for another 17 years. I can't sell my home with a lien on my property. I can't freely retire in the area of the USA I wanted live in. Sunrun installed and maintains the equipment. They don't feel responsible for installing their equipment on a bad roof (20 and 28 years old) and be “REQUIRED” to pay to remove.
Sunrun does not feel responsible for the partnered with in business who installed the equipment. They are only responsible billing. They have no clue what customer service is! Timeline. 02/14/2014 signed contract. 13 months year later 03/05/2015 date of install. 2 months later 05/07/2015 called 2 months after install to ask why the system was in the "Off" position. 05/07/2015 I was told “Turned it "ON". 3 years later Need new skylights and roof. 09/25/2018 received contract to sign for $3,200.00 for a Removal & Re-Installation. 10/31/18 after many calls and emails they have lowered the price to $1,500.00.
They obviously are admitting to guilt in this “Bait and Switch” scheme. It will rain soon. I have a hole 2 x 4 foot in my kitchen where I started removing the skylights. Sunrun told me not to touch their system. They lien your home for 20 years. They install on a bad roof. They charge you extra when you need to repair your roof. They will not let you buy the system. They bully with denials of who is at fault.
Thank you for the feedback, Jeff. It is disheartening to hear of the experiences you have encountered in order to get your roof work done. We aim to be as cooperative as possible in these situations, and never want to hinder your plans with your home. We would love to discuss your concerns in depth with you. As a customer who has been dealing with them since day one I can tell you my experience. My house has trees all around it especially in the yard. Sunrun came out and installed panels on my roof. 6 months after installation they weren't working properly. The trees shade my panels, they never did a proper shade report so the panels only work half the year. I was strung along for 2 years as they told me they were working on it. My panels save me a whopping 60 cents a day. You are reading correctly 60 cents a day.
Mike the manager of customer service said solar panels are made to generate a modest savings. 60 cents? As the trees grow the savings will go down. FACTS you're locked into an agreement for 20 years. FACT regardless of your electric bill the payment for the panels will be there for the next 20 years. FACT if you plan on selling your house the person buying it has to agree to take over the solar panel lease. Fact their production guarantee works for then not you. The great presentation is smoke and mirrors. I strongly suggest looking into another solar company. I would give zero stars but it doesn't let me.
Thank you for your feedback, Mario. We understand it can be frustrating when we encounter performance modeling errors such as this one. Tree shading can be a large factor that occasionally gets overlooked. We do our best to correct these mistakes after the fact, by lowering the rate you pay Sunrun and matching the bill to be more in line with the actual production you receive. I know that .60 cents a day does not seem like much, but that adds up to over $200 in savings a year, and we know how much every penny counts! All the facts you have listed, are all things that are listed in the agreement that you signed. However your performance guarantee is in place to benefit you the customer, not Sunrun. We do not gain anything by refunding you for under-performance. We'd be more than happy to look into your concerns a little further for you, a specialist will be reaching out to you shortly!

We wanted to get a solar so that our bills would be lower and because we went to a workshop for Habitat for Humanity. We had also spoken to different people, like at Costco, before and I thought it was a great alternative. The people at Costco are connected with Sunrun and that helped us get in. Enrolling was easy and we definitely recommend Sunrun. In fact, we got our whole community to get solar so it was good.
The customer service with Sunrun is really great too, even better than going with the grid. We contacted them because the process seemed to be taking a bit longer than it should and we wanted to check up on things. I also called Sunrun when I was trying to start up my unit and the lady that I got was so helpful and knowledgeable. Once she figured out what system I had and what I needed to do, she took me through the instructions very smoothly and very well. When I was turning the panels on, I felt very confident that I knew what I was doing. The panels have been up and running for about three months now and we've saved on our bills. They would usually be about $55 to $60, which is pretty good but now, the highest would be like $15. The system is really good and we love it. We're very happy.

We bought a house that had a Sunrun system from the previous owners, but we still had to enroll for it, which was a fairly easy process. There’s been a lot of turnover on sales reps in the last five years, which is foolish and making our interactions with them, vary. We started off with someone who seems quite responsive. However, it’s very frustrating to me that the company doesn’t do some proactive responsibility for telling me when the system is underperforming.
Once we did conclude that the system was shut down by something or that the transponder wasn’t working, they’d send somebody out to fix the transponder, but very often, the system underperforms the projections. It is just ridiculous that the under-generation is paid for at the base payment rate while there’s a marginal payment rate at which people are really paying for, whatever the system charge for all this. But, it was in the contract, I hadn’t been aware of it. It’s a fraud to not advertise it openly, easily, and just hide behind the weasel words that are in contracts.
They should be proactive by saying, “You’re underperforming. We or you need to do something. We just made bad projection with the company. Just made bad projections and that’s life. You get degraded with time and it’s degrading faster than we have projected or you need to clean the system." or "We/you need to install a new modern-day inverter.” That would inherently be more efficient. On the lease, we can’t install a new inverter, nor can we latch on a supplemental system. Also, there is not enough proactive feedback or guide on how to optimally maintain the system in order to have it run according to the projections that were given.
Thank you for the feedback, Larry. We aim to proactively monitor all our Sunrun owned systems, and reach out if further service is needed. We are sorry to hear that you feel this is not the case for your system. We would love the chance to review your system and follow up with you regarding your concerns. We had been researching solar for a little while and we had GenRenew out prior to Sunrun and got to talk to them and got their pricing. But we had decided that we wanted to purchase Sunrun because it would behoove us to purchase our system. GenRenew is like a third party, so they don't really allow you to purchase the system. They do a lease. Also Sunrun was in the top seven for the country and has moved up since then to top five.
We've had good experiences with Sunrun with the exception of one portion of it, and that would be the billing. The person that would charge the company that we got the loan with quit and didn't tell anybody that they didn't charge over our account. So we haven't been billed for our solar yet. I've been inquiring since July and even worked with GreenSky, which is the loan company, and Sunrun has not answered them, either. Recently, I got an email saying that they haven't been able to charge our system over to GreenSky because the loan has expired. They copied our sales agent on it and she said she would be handling it.
The sales agent and also the installation coordinator are great and I love them. Our installation team that came out was also great. Everybody was really nice and knowledgeable. The customer service team goes above and beyond to try and get answers. Our project coordinator was also knowledgeable to an extent, but there were some things that he was not knowledgeable on that caused some frustration and that deals with the monitoring system that we were supposed to have access to. But he got it taken care of.
We had a leak on our roof and there was the possibility that Sunrun would ingest part of that cost to replace the roof. They kind of sped the process up a little bit to see if our roof would qualify for them to ingest part of it. Unfortunately, due to the cause of the leak, we weren't eligible for Sunrun to assist with any of those costs. But everything else was great. We got our roof replaced and then the following week, Sunrun was out in starting the installation. Everything was a smooth process. We have recommended Sunrun to our friends and family.
Thanks for sharing your story, Brittney! We are so happy you chose to go with Sunrun! It sounds like your experience has been everything we could have hoped for aside from the billing portion you mentioned. I have faith that Sunrun will remedy the situation and get your loan payments squared away. Congrats on going solar! And thank you for helping us create a planet run by the sun!

I decided to go with Sunrun because I like the way that they proposed. Also I had a couple of other quotes but they were higher. The enrollment was slower than what it should have been but I was happy with the results. There were long stretches in between each job that they had to do because they had to update the electrical box and then there was something that went wrong with one of the inspections which was no big deal. Everybody at Sunrun was real nice and kept me up-to-date. I was totally happy with the installation and the workers were good. Sunrun is saving me money and I would recommend them to friends.

Between the presentation of the Sunrun people who came to my door and me discussing how my neighbor felt about the solar panels he had installed, I decided to proceed with Sunrun. Enrolling was fairly easy. After all, Sunrun was handling most of the paperwork and all the permits. They would also call me and let me know what the next step would be, who would be coming to the house and why they would have to get in. We started in September and I had solar in March, and it was very smooth. The process took about five months and some of the hitches were us being home.
There was a little bit of a mix-up about the billing though. I wanted to get a mailed bill as opposed to an email. But it was nothing major and the mix-up could have been on my part. I got through the summer with minus $2 showing up on my electric bill. Then there could be another buy-back at the end of March and maybe, I would see the same credit. I saw that there would be an annual analyzation. Sunrun would look at whether there is excess solar power that they would sell back to the electric companies because they're obligated to buy back some solar. I'm very satisfied with my decision to go solar and I would recommend Sunrun to a friend without a doubt. In fact, I've contacted a couple of people and not just because of the incentive. I'm not even quite sure if there is any incentive or bonus for recommending others.
Thank you for the review, Christ! We are so pleased to hear of the easy and smooth transition you had into solar. This is precisely what we aim for! For about 5 months Sunrun has refused to fix an installation error that has caused our solar power to bypass our home panel, and go right into the “grid.” Our actual home is not receiving solar power. It took until about 2 weeks ago for them to even acknowledge that there might be a problem, and to have a tech come look at our system. The tech found the issue and we were given an appointment for service. No one came. We called. Still, no one came. We’ve been making our monthly payments and receiving no solar power to our home. We pay our regularly priced electric bill PLUS the Sunrun bill. The next call will be from our lawyer. We have been paying for a product we did not receive.

I had been at the Home Depot several months earlier, and SolarCity had a stand at Home Depot, and they were touting on solar energy. So, they had a representative come to my home, and he showed me everything. In fact, he brought his own gas and electric bill, and he was showing me the savings that he had gotten. He brought me about four or five of them, before and after he had gotten solar energy. The savings that I was looking at turned me on.
Enrolling with Sunrun was very easy. At the time, I was gonna go with SolarCity, but they were too pushy. They were trying to force me into signing the contract before they had even done any work or anything. With Sunrun, they were very upfront and honest. I felt a lot more comfortable with them than I did with SolarCity. I'm also very satisfied with the installation. I've no qualms whatsoever. Since having Sunrun, I've had some savings. Also, there was a short in the light in my bathroom. I called them, and they came right out and fixed it. I'd also want to thank them for the check. I was very happy with that. I had one referral to them and they gave me a check.
I've told others about some of the savings that I was getting from Sunrun. Plus, I showed them the letter where I was getting a $5,000 tax credit by the year 2023. They said it was just so backed up that that’s what happened in Baltimore County because of the people that were taken out of the solar energy. Still, I got a letter from the county government, and they said that I would be getting $5,000 tax credit in 2021 or 2022.
Thank you for sharing your story, Jerry! We are so happy to hear that your journey going solar was a smooth and easy one! That is exactly what we aim for! We wanted to save on electric bills and have a smaller carbon footprint. My son-in-law told me about Sunrun and he said he was gonna get a guy to come out and get a quote. It was extremely easy enrolling in their services and their reps were supportive. There was one little glitch but it was taken care of. They called and told me something was wrong and that people would be out to change it on a particular date. That was very positive. After I found out more about Sunrun, I probably would’ve done it on my own. But Sunrun had the back-up. I’m satisfied with it. We’re saving electricity somehow and somewhat. I’d recommend Sunrun but I may tell the person I’d be recommending them to, “You may wanna look at this, this, and this.”

Updated on 11/07/2018: On October 19, 2018 I filed my complaint regarding SunRun Billing and Production. I was contacted via email the next business day. Here is their reply: "At this time, hourly production is not something that we have available. Our internal monitoring doesn't even have access to hour by hour production, we look at production day by day at a cumulative level, similar to what you have access to in your mySunrun account.
"But I hear your savings concerns, and I see that your father has just recently passed his anniversary with us. This means that we now would have enough information to do a full cost analysis to help determine whether or not this solar system has been any real benefit to him. It would require you to provide the last 12 months of utility bills. If this is something you are interested in, please forward me those bills over and I can get started on this analysis. Depending on the results of the analysis, there may be a few things on our end we can do to increase those savings for him."
November 7, 2018 Update: My disappointment is profound. I just cannot believe they have NO WAY of producing proof of what their services are providing in exchange for our $6,000.00. As I have to get copies of my electric bills to send to them to be given a "full cost analysis", as can only assume they are going to recommend that we have MORE panels installed at our cost. So, in the end, yes we need to just believe their website's daily production reports. We are still paying our electric bills at the same or more charges than before SunRun started this mess as well as a $200.00 A month loan for the $6,000.00 we paid upfront! What a debacle.
Original Review: Aloha, my 86 yr old father, after hours of discussions and presentations, chose to pay $6,000.00 up front to "buy" this solar system although we would not receive any storage batteries. The option of paying $0 upfront but approx. $200.00 a month for 20-25 years was very unattractive even though we would have batteries. After taking out a loan to pay the $6,000.00, which we have yet to pay off due to not seeing any savings on our electric bill, he went through some folderol of signing the contract online electronically and the system was installed within 3 months. We sat back, having to pay $200.00 a month on the loan, and waited for the savings to start showing. It NEVER did go down, just UP!
When I contacted SunRun thinking the system was just not working even though the website dashboard stated we were producing, I was informed we had NOT purchased the system but paid $6,000.00 in rental fees in advance for 20 or 25 years and SunRun owned the system! Also they sent out a nice man who said the system was producing just fine. When I requested a printout of the hourly production I was informed they "can't" do that.
So in the end, after multiple emails, I have to trust them that the system is producing, that it's our AC that is causing the electric bill to NEVER go down though we are using it much the same as always, and that they have verified the system is producing as expected when compared to our neighbors. My father says he feels like he was sold Shanks Mare and his $6,000.00 is gone for good. I am incensed, I feel like Dad is being taken advantage of, and I am pondering contacting a lawyer. So, I have only one major thing to say. DO NOT USE SUNRUN! Incensed and disappointed
Thank you for your feedback, Charles. It is saddening to hear of your dissatisfaction with your father's solar system. We never want our customers to feel like they are being taken advantage of. I want to make it short and direct to the point. SUNRUN people who made the estimate of how many panels I need did an over estimate on my house. They put 36 panel which able generate up to 2000 kw/h per month of which I only use 600-700 kw/h per month when I was on PG&E. Isn't that's a waste of money. I tried to call them several times and they said they can't do nothing about it anymore because GREENSKY already paid them off so that means, GOOD LUCK to me.

I had been kicking around the idea of getting solar energy services for a while, then I decided that it was as good a time as any to do that and I had the opportunity to invest in it. I was hoping to get a reduction in utilities cost and I figured that going solar was a good investment. Also, having a solar energy system was gonna help if I ever wanted a solar house and it would be a definite selling point. In doing an internet search for solar energy companies, Sunrun's name popped up. I did some research and I found out that, with everybody considered and based on the industry reviews, they’re one of the best solar companies in this area.
All in all, the enrollment process was very easy from start to finish. The woman that helped us did a great job and presented the service very well. Since the installation, I've been very satisfied with my decision to go solar with Sunrun. The solar energy system is working great. I was thinking about having somebody come out to take a look at it and make sure that everything is working correctly. Otherwise, everything seems fine and there was also a follow-up from customer service afterwards.
When the system got put on my garage, it shaded my garage which is south-facing and it keeps both the garage and the house cooler. Even on the very first day that I had the system put on in the middle of summer, I saw that the garage temperature was vastly different from when the system wasn’t on the garage. So, that was a definite bonus that I hadn’t even thought of.
Everybody that I dealt with there was super nice and very professional and courteous. Any time I had any questions, they answered them. But most of the time, I didn’t have any because they did a good job of presentation and answered most of my questions even before I asked them. I’d tell people to definitely go with Sunrun. In fact, I’ve talked to some of my co-workers about them. I told them to definitely go solar with Sunrun if they have an opportunity and if they wanted to, I would hook them up with the lady there that I talked to initially.

I saw Sunrun on Facebook and at first, I though that it was the county-wide program. It was a little bit deceptive. Then Patrick dazzled me with his cell phone. He gave me all these facts and figures that I wasn't ready for. But I had to it anyway because I really don't like Edison. Edison was murdering off people and does it for thousands of years. I finally did it but there was a consequence. Edison sent me nasty letters, almost monthly, telling me that my electric usage was 125% more than all of my neighbors. I was the only one that was here year-round though. My electric was gonna be higher because I used it.
The installation with Sunrun was great though. Two guys came out here at about 7:30 in the morning and they quit at about 2:00 in the afternoon. They were up above my head on the roof for about six hours and they only broke for lunch. And they weren't noisy. As a matter of fact, I got worried about them because I didn't hear any noise. I went out to see if they had fallen off the roof and broken their neck. But nothing like that happened. They were okay. It was a really good experience.
Right now though, I wish I would have gotten with the Renova down in the Coachella Valley. I've been waiting since last month to get my solar fixed and it took me a long time to get somebody to come out here and take care of it. Some renters were involved with some kind of a project with Edison and that delayed the repair process. Plus the Sunrun people are coming all the way from Temecula. I didn't take that to account when I signed up with them. It's at least an hour's drive and it's not a really easy drive.
A guy came out here last week and went through the process of trying to restart it but he couldn't. He said to me that I had a bad inverter. They told me that the inverter basically blew up. Right now, it's completely shut down. They didn't explain it to me but I haven't had solar since. The guy said some folks have gone through some solar panels and they had no problems for three or four years. But then, some people were like me. I signed up in April and in September, I had no solar. I have been told that as soon as they get the inverter, if they have one in stock, they could come right up and put it in. But since that was last week and the guy hasn't come out here, I presume that they haven't got any stock and I’m gonna have to wait for it to be built. Then, they're gonna have to come out here to send somebody out from Temecula again.
I'm at the mercy of Edison. I don't think it's as good as using solar power but they do have a guarantee to have money taken off at the end of a year-period to compensate me. That's good and I appreciate that. So far, Sunrun has also been keeping up with me. They're good about returning calls. Sometimes, they don't return it until the next day but they do return it. A lady even called me twice from San Francisco and told me that they have no progress but that they were working on it. And I have to appreciate that.
Thank you for sharing your story, Daniel! We are so happy to hear that you have been pleased with Sunrun thus far! We are sorry to hear of your broken inverter and we wish for a speedy recovery so you are not without solar for too long, we know how much of an impact that can have on your utility bills. For the enrollment, they explained everything and it was straightforward. It was really just a lot of waiting. Then they told me ahead of time when they were coming to install. It was loud though. They had to replace the roof because it wasn’t up to code but they were really quick about it. The only thing that bothered me was after the workers came to set everything, they didn’t flick a switch so there was no power in a couple of the rooms. I’m always at work and that lasted about a good week. But that was taken care of and everything is good now. In fact, it's awesome. I’m not paying 300 bucks a month for electricity anymore.

The enrollment process with Sunrun was fairly simple but it took 9 months to finally get the system completely turned on. The city accounting had changed some regulations so they had Sunrun go back and get all that stuff changed before it would get turned on. I knew that the person that I was dealing with at Sunrun was new at that position and I could deal with that. He was very thorough about it and that was what I liked. And any concerns that he wouldn’t know, he would find out for me, so that was good. But there was one part of the installation that I wasn’t very happy with. Initially, I was able to leave the installers here to do their job but when I returned, I found that they routed the ground wire without consulting me about it. And it wasn’t routed or installed tacky, but it was a visual thing for the front of the house, so I told them that the thing has got to go.
They took care of it, but when I asked them I wanted that ground wire re-routed underneath the house all the way from the front to the back, the person that they had who climbed underneath the house couldn't understand what I wanted him to do. Maybe he was the smallest one they had so he went underneath there, but I couldn’t communicate to him on where to drill this hole from the outside. I showed the other lead installer where I wanted that hole to be popped into the wall and since I didn’t want any mistakes, I had to climb under the house and communicate outside with the person they sent underneath on the measurements where to pop the hole and that when the wire would get directly routed to back of the house, it needed to be tie wrapped to the pipe.
But the guy that was underneath the house helping me went outside and left. I had to communicate with the lead and he ended up climbing underneath the house and finishing the back part of the house where I did the front. With a house like mine, what they did was not the easiest thing to do. It was not impossible, but you got to climb under the house and the back part of the hose is a little more shallow than the front because there's an addition. I can barely fit there myself but they got it done. In the end, it was no big deal and I didn’t wanna risk anybody getting fired over it, but that part was unacceptable.
The lead understood though and said he'd address that. Other than that, I'm happy with their work, with the quote they gave me, and with my decision to go solar. When people ask me about it, I tell them that the system is working. I also tell them that my main reason for going with Sunrun was because they were backed by Costco and not like any shop that would open up, do some work for you, then they'd be out of business in two years,.
Thank you for sharing your story, Richard! We are so pleased to hear that you are satisfied with your decision to go solar. I called Sunrun and they had somebody out here the same or next day.
We started at the beginning of the summer, so we haven’t been able to build up any off peak power to actually reduce our bill but we’re saving about $100 compared to my neighbor’s bills based on the solar payment and the additional energy usage payment. We were assuming that we would be saving a lot more, but after speaking to the power consultant guy that we went through, he said it was gonna take months for us to build up credits, which we didn’t completely understand. It was the solar consultant’s fault and the miscommunication between him and us irked us a little bit that but he explained it to us in a more in-depth manner and by next summer, we should start seeing the credits that we built up to reduce our bill. I live in AZ and do not live in one of the 3 states that this contract applies to, therefore, I do not get the $1000 AZ rebate because they will not supply me the certificate. Whenever we were talking to them about getting the solar energy service put on the house, they run us around. They’d be here this day or that, and then call and cancel.
We've had Sunrun for about 4 months now and we’ve never had a bill. We don’t know if it’s producing electric or not. The temperatures have been 9 and above most times yet we’ve never got anything telling us that we’ve used so much energy towards our bill. Right now, I’m considering a fly-by-night group and if I’ve had my way, I’d tell Sunrun to fly.
Thank you for your feedback, Barbara. It is disheartening to hear of your experience with Sunrun thus far. We never want our customers feel abandoned or kept out of the loop. We'd love to address your concerns personally. A specialist will be reaching out to you shortly.

I'm kind of a green and very conservative person, and I've been looking at solar energy and power. My brother and I looked at solar energy years ago but it was too expensive and it didn’t seem like the people really knew what they were talking about. When I was in New Jersey, there was a fella who had solar on his house. He told me what he had going on. I contacted the company and they told me that they don’t do anything in Texas and to call somebody in California. I called a couple of different states and then one of the Sunrun people called me back first. I like their program so I did it.
Getting started was easy. They had to put the solar panels up the next two weeks later and I assumed that they got it off the boat and contacted my energy source. It should have been all over the last of April but it took them five months to do the installation and to get the solar panels up and running. Still, I would recommend Sunrun. You ought to really look into it and get on to energy savings. Let's all go green.
Thank you for the review, David! We are so pleased to hear that you are enjoying your solar system. We are saddened to hear of the delays you encountered, but are happy that it did not sour your experience with Sunrun. Congrats on going green, and thank you for helping us create a planet run by the sun!

After reviewing the figures in a SunRun contract I noticed that the escalation rate was not properly reflected in the rate schedule (Exhibit A). The contracted escalation rate is stated to be 2.9% but the Exhibit A rates are escalating at 3.4% annually. I have reached out to three different departments to rectify situation and have received no response. While the overcharges are fairly minimal to date, they do increase over time and will amount to over $3,500 if not rectified.
Thank you for your feedback, Jeremiah. We definitely understand your concerns regarding your rate increase. We would love the opportunity to investigate this further. A specialist will be reaching out to you shortly for additional information.

Sunrun was the first one that I saw that could do a ground mount. The sales guy came up. We sat for a couple of hours and walked through all the things. The interaction was great. They were responsive and took care of everything. However, they didn't explain that for my electrical service provider, I would need to pay the taxes on whatever service was provided to the house. So when I received my final monthly bill, it was about $20 short because I didn’t understand that particular aspect of it.
Their guys were quick and phenomenal when the installation took place. They knew what they were doing and how they were gonna do it. They had a really good plan. They had to run the underground utility over to the opposite side of my house to be able to tie into my existing panel, to tie in for the basement and get all the work done. Also, they dug hand holes right. They had a video guided ability to go below the ground and run the electricity from hand hole to hand hole. They shot eight of those all the way across the property and tied it in all in one day. They then backfilled all the holes and receded them. It was absolutely perfect.
Solar panels can either compromise or enhance your resell value and Sunrun's guy enhanced my resell value by saying we have a fixed cost for electricity. I give him got a lot of credit. He knew how to orient the panels and where to put them on the property. I have almost five acres and he found a really nice spot out of major public view to put them in. I can't say enough good things about the way Sunrun handled it. They reduced my overall cost for electricity by about 25%, so far. The experience was perfect from construction all the way through to being able to use the system. I would recommend them all day.

I have spoken to a representative from Sunrun and I had been thinking about going solar for a very long time but never really got the initiative. But then I realized I got a deadline going on so I decided to just see what it was all about. The rep explained about the solar energy really well. The people at the office were also helpful. They also kept me informed of everything that was going on. TEP put their meter in and we put ours in, so everything's ready to go. All it's gotta be is just turned on and we can have somebody come out and do it. Sunrun talked me through the process and started the same day.
The day of the installation, I was at work but when I came back home, it was all done. My neighbor across the street watched the installers and he was surprised they got it done. Now, everything works really well and I am completely satisfied. I try telling others that Sunrun is the greatest thing in the world. I also tell them that they will not put down money and that they will get 20 years from it. What I was paying now, even with the 2.9% increase per year of the fee, would take me 19 years to reach and pay Sunrun what I am paying TEP right now. This is great and there's no money out of pocket.
Thank you for your review, Peter! We are so pleased to hear of your experience, and that everyone you encountered had been professional and helpful. I had been looking at solar energy services for a while. I wanted to help the atmosphere and save money at the same time. So, I linked up with Sunrun through GRID Alternatives. The application process was seamless and I enjoyed the experience. Their website is user-friendly and everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. The installation took two days but it took them around 90 days to get the 11 solar panels up and running. Most of the time was spent waiting for the inspectors to come out and from where I am, they have limited number of inspectors. I was also waiting for the city to approve it. So far, I have noticed 80% savings in my bill and it is really efficient. I am enjoying Sunrun’s service and anytime I have an issue or question, I just make a phone call and they get right to me. I advise everyone to go solar and I’ve already recommended three people to Sunrun.

We were with SolarCity before when we moved to Sun City West and we had a positive experience, but for some reason, things had changed. Back then, the APS only allows 80% of your bill. Now, you could get more than 100%. Living in Arizona, having the ability to have the sun and with the expenses of electric continually going up, I decided to look into solar energy services. I checked out the internet, found Sunrun and liked their customer rating.
Sunrun's customer service was really good. The installers called us to check how things were going and followed up on everything. We were 100% satisfied with the communication and we never felt like we were a number. Being with Sunrun has helped me make my monthly budget. My monthly payment for electric is constant without me guessing what it would be. I just went into retirement, and that’s a real big plus. They’ve always responded to any questions that I had. They were very knowledgeable and straightforward. I would tell others to get Sunrun.

My interactions with the installers were great and they were very knowledgeable. Before they put a ladder up on my deck to get on the roof, they put a mat down before they went up. Sunrun reps were going around the neighborhood and when I saw the truck right there, I started talking to the dude and then he set me up with Kevin, the sales rep. And then, Kevin came and talked to me. His attitude, his willingness to work, to do what it took to get it done sold me into getting Sunrun. The guy was awesome. He walked us through everything. He stayed there through the whole process for my mom and myself to go through the financing. My interactions with the installers went great too. They were in and out in one day. I let them do what they had to do, but when I had questions, their lead guy would stop and he would answer all my questions.
So far, we're still paying the solar off but we know, eventually in time, that it's towards our benefit. But we've noticed a big difference on our electric bill. Right now, our bill is way much cheaper than it has been since we got the house. Putting the solar in our house helps us with our energy costs and at the same token, it brings value to the house. If someone were to ask me about Sunrun, I would give them Kevin's phone number because I figured he's the guy that they need to talk to. Sunrun reps were very professional and everything went really good. No headaches, no stress. All our questions were answered and everything was done in a timely manner. I was really, really impressed.

I was looking into getting solar because it was supposed to save me money and I heard about Sunrun through a friend. The enrollment was easy but I started with it in February and it didn’t get installed until the late part of June, so it took some time. But they did great during the installation. However, I just called to find out if my stuff was working properly because I got a $200 electric bill. I’m a little confused because the sales guy told me that I would be paying APS $25 a month for being on the grid, and paying Sunrun a 120 for the lease. I guess that’s not true because I’ve been told a couple of times that it’s not true.
There’s no reason why he should’ve told me that because there’s no set price for being on the grid. It’s all on what you use and what you’re accumulating at and I was not aware that I would still be on the same program as I was when I was with APS alone, the 3:00 to 8:00 at night. I thought I would be able to use it whenever. Also since I’ve gotten the solar, my power goes out more often than it ever has.
I’m just a little disappointed because I was expecting different, and I’m not getting that. But I was told that I came into it late, and it should get better by this next year. It’s just sad that I'm having to pay all of this extra. Like my electric bill that I got this month was a $100 so now I’m paying over 220 a month and it's just crazy. At this point in time, I'm very dissatisfied. But they did tell me I need to give it time so maybe another year from now, I’ll be more satisfied than I ever was.

We live in the hottest place in the US and we thought it’d be smart to get solar. I got Sunrun with one home and enrolling was difficult at first but it was not because of just Sunrun. We also had that PUC. There was a lot of law stuff going on with NV Energy which made it a bit hard to get it done. From beginning to end to get my solar panels up and running took about a year but the installation was great. We had a little hiccup when the electrical panel went out but Sunrun quickly fixed it and since then, it has been good.
Then I attempted to get Sunrun with the second home and it was not a good one. We were doing it through Costco and the options were to pay the whole lump sum with a credit card because we wanted to pay the whole thing or get Costco cash cards. But that would require over 30 Costco cash cards, which Costco said they had no idea of and they didn’t wanna run my debit card as a credit card like it was run for the first house. So, we ended up not getting solar for that home.

I was open to the idea of using solar energy and then a Sunrun sales rep stopped by the house. I had a very pleasant experience with him to start with but I found out that a lot of what he told me was not true. He told us that if we gave a referral and the people signed up with Sunrun, we would get a $500 bonus for each referral. We had trouble with those references being reported to Sunrun and I had to talk to them about that. I had several references that I had given that were not showing on my account. The first one that was processed went through fine, but I still have one pending that I haven’t received my referral bonus from.
And then, we found out that the bonus was not $500 but only 350. The rep doubled up with another lie that the other 150 would come from Duke Power, our local carrier, which they didn’t know anything about. There was a lot of misrepresentation, and there has been three or more customers that I know of whom he told the same thing. He even said it on a conference call to one which would have to be the chief of police. Another thing that happened to some of the customers, though it didn’t happen to me, was that the rep agreed to pay them so much to have some trees removed. So the people paid to have the trees removed, but then they never have been reimbursed.
This rep is no longer in South Carolina, he’s in Chicago now. He wouldn’t return calls and answer emails. So it has been a very bad experience there. Sunrun gave us the $350 through the credit card but the misinformation was never dealt with. At one point, they said that the rep didn’t work for them and he was with a sub-company. Outside of that, everything seems to be working fine. Although with what I’m paying between Sunrun and Duke Power, my bill is about the same as it was before I even messed with it. Still, I would recommend Sunrun, but I would caution people to make sure that they got their stuff in writing and confirmed. Don’t rely just on what the sales rep is telling you. Talk with your project manager or whoever it is that is contacting you from Sunrun.

After several attempts, I was finally able to "talk" with a person online. My system went down mid-September. A tech was sent out to look at the system... and announced that the inverter is bad and will have to replace. That is the last time I had an update... Third time was the charm by finally talking with somebody via chat... where I learned that the repair part was ordered--today (yesterday) and would be out in three weeks. My system has been down for nearly three weeks already. I'm required to continue to make payments whilst the system is down. It's all about the power delivered, not the status of your system.
Discussion revealed that my appendix A was revised, but never put in my file online--the estimated KW hours production was reduced from the original document. If production does not exceed that yearly estimate--then Sunrun will reimburse. In my case is roughly $.20/kW hour. Several instances of very poor communications. My impression is that SUNRUN is not doing well.

We’ve looked into solar energy services before, but we had a big tree out front and without the tree, the sun could do its thing. A Sunrun rep came out and the enrollment process was not difficult at all, but it took about six months to a year to get our solar panels up and running. The installation experience was good, but our interactions with the customer service were horrible. I am really not happy with this company. Sunrun cut our bill down to half, but our friends don’t have any bill at all, so we were wondering why ours just went down to half instead of going down to nothing like everybody else’s that we know.
In addition, they only signed up my husband and everything went through him, so I had no idea what was going on. They should involve us both. They also did everything on the computer, but I am not a total computer person. I am a visual person and I would like paper. They dealt with my husband through his email, but I don’t get on his email.
Every time we tried to get a hold of somebody, it was somebody else and we never got to talk to or see the same people. I was trying to ask a question and was trying to call a phone number, but they just gave me the runaround and different phone numbers. After we found out that we could possibly pay cash, I was trying to get a cash discount. However, they had to turn us over and we had to pay $350 because they did it through the bank. I asked several people how we can get a cash discount and if they will even give a cash discount, but I couldn’t get a clear answer out of anybody and I was just passed on to somebody else. Somebody said they would come back and get their meter, but I haven't seen hide nor hair from them. I wish they would send somebody out here or to have them call me.
They also said that we can only get the top benefit out of the system. In other words, between 3:00 and 8:00, if we use it, then APS charges us 25 cents a kilowatt, whereas before that, before 3:00 or after 8:00, we got less kilowatt and we were charged less. Our system also costs a lot more because we got the backup battery, but I haven't seen a lot of good out of that yet either. We paid Sunrun a whole bunch of money, but we are not getting the benefits that our friends that paid half and went with different companies got. It’s a little embarrassing telling our friends that we got this and it has a backup battery and we paid this much.

Knowing that the cost of electricity was gonna continuously go up, I wanted to get something different. I wanted to be able to generate the electricity myself if I could. I’m a Costco member and Sunrun was offering the discount at Costco. I said that now was the time to take a look at Sunrun because of all the incentives. That was what I did and outright bought my system. I wanted to go with one of the larger companies, one due to warranties. Two, to be sure that if there were any issues at all with the system or with the installation, the company would be around.
Enrolling with Sunrun was very easy and the team that did my installation were great people. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. I had also done a battery backup, which was fairly new. I wanted to be able to generate electricity and then use it at night. I'm also able to drain the battery and recharge it first thing the next morning off of the panels. It is also nice to have if you have a power outage. We had a power outage recently and everything that I had hooked up to the system- the refrigerator, freezer, and computers- was fine.
I had a couple of issues though, but they were right here and fixed the issues. I dealt with a gal name Wanisha who did an excellent job. Their customer service was good and I was very happy. Sunrun also asked me if I would talk to a couple of other people about my system for them and I did. The price is worth it. The system has had a good impact and I'm very happy with my decision to go solar. Wanisha said that the credits are the best way to go. I felt that way with PG&E. They are an experienced and knowledgeable company within the field and they do an excellent job. I’d highly recommend Sunrun.

I've had the Sunrun solar panels and I’ve had nothing but bad experience from them. The guy that came over here talked well and I believed everything he said. He asked me how much I pay for my electricity and I told him about $95 and up a month. He talked about paying $30 a month for electricity from Sunrun solar panels. I told him it sounded good and asked him to tell me more so he went on saying it would be $30 for the first pay off. I told him $30 a month is a lot better than $95 a month and we’ll be saving money.
PG&E was still hooked up and I told them I was going to pay as soon as I start seeing a difference in my PG&E bill. They didn’t like the idea but said it was okay. Finally, when I saw a drop in my PG&E bill about two or three months ago, I called them up and said I wanted to make a payment. They told me my bill was $207. I asked where the $200 a month came from and they said it was the late charge. I paid them anyway and then last week, I went to pick up the bill. It was $145 for that one month. I said, “What happened to the $30 a month? I’m caught up on you guys.” The way it was explained to me, it said $30 a month and not $145 a month which was more than my PG&E bill. If I knew it was gonna be that much, I would have never gotten their solar panel.
I had somebody come over to hook up the Sunrun solar panel ‘cause PG&E went off. But for some reason, we were only getting minimum power and only the light and the refrigerator were working in the whole place. I got no power on my stove. I was also supposed to get power in the living room but that didn’t happen so I couldn’t watch the TV. The reps came in and readjusted the solar panels. I called Sunrun and said they’re a bunch of liars. I also told them I wanted the thing off my roof but they said they couldn’t do that and I had to pay for the solar panel until it’s paid off. I was cussing them out and after that, I hung up. Now, I’m paying $147 a month for this solar panel and I don’t understand it. I am one sorry individual that I got this thing. Now, I'm stuck with it and I wouldn’t recommend them to anybody, not even to my dead parents.

The Sunrun rep knew his product and he gave us an idea of what we would be saving, the rental on the lease on the equipment for 20 years and approximately what we have to pay APS or SRP every month. That would always be a guestimation because we would never know how much power we're gonna use until we use it, but with the possibility of having lower power bills, we decided on signing up with them. So, they came out and put everything on the house. It went really quick and they were very thorough. They showed me everything that was going on. The guy explained to me what he was doing and how much noise he was gonna make drilling through the tile. Having gone solar, I was told that I'd have to pay APS from $20 to $30 a month, but it's an average, and over the summer I was paying a lot more than that. Even with that, I already referred several people and told them that I like Sunrun and it does good.

One of our friends recommended getting a solar energy service since it had a lot of benefits. We were at Home Depot and we inquired from their person who was there. He set us up with a meeting with one of the representatives from Sunrun to come over to the house and we were satisfied with what they could offer. Enrolling with them was interesting and they explained everything to us. I asked them some questions and they answered it. The installers were very courteous and cleaned up the place. However, we had problems with the unit because the production light was red and it wasn’t producing energy from the solar. So, we called customer service and set a date for a person to come down and look at it. The person who came did a very good job.

My son did a science experiment on solar energy and he did very well. Based on his findings, I was thinking of going solar and I realized that it would be energy efficient. The lady I met at Costco put me to the sales rep for Sunrun and he came by and did a presentation. From there, I decided to go with them. The sign-up and installation process were good. Within less than a day, they were able to complete putting up the panels. So far, I'm comfortable with my decision to go solar. I like the idea of it. It is natural clean energy and there is no pollution. But I after I went live, I kept on getting bills from Con Edison. Apparently, they didn't register us. But that was resolved today. I was able to speak with a Con Edison lady and she promised that it should be sorted out within a week. All in all, my experience with Sunrun was very good and I recommend their company.

When the salesman came to talk to me, I argued with him that he is underestimating my energy use. He took the estimates off a house that I had just bought and had been empty for over a year. I asked him to look at my electric bills from my old house, but he would not listen. Of course I use much more energy than they estimated. so I pay Sunrun and my local electric company. In addition he promised if I need more panels they would add them. He made it sound like no big deal. What he didn't tell me was that I would have to pay for the additional panels. Also Sunrun talks about a Auto Pay "Discount". Turns out it's no discount. if you don't do Auto Pay they charge you an extra 7.50 per month for processing your payment. Plus one friend told me that with other companies if I overproduce I should be making money on. I haven't checked this out so I don't know if this is true. Would not recommend to my friends, not upfront and honest.

The people from Sunrun came and bothered me when I was moving in my new home. They said I would save money, but it was BS. I'm paying the same as if I were still with the electric company. The only difference is, my bill is split up into two now - what I pay the electric company and what I pay Sunrun. When I signed up for Sunrun for a lease agreement the deal was that I was only gonna pay the electric company 40 bucks, but that was a lie.
They said it was because it was summer and we would see how it works out. But I gotta try to minimize what I pay the electric company. That's how they came up with the $30, $40. But it don't work that way when I spoke with the electric company. I still gotta use some of their electricity. I was under the assumption that I was just gonna be paying $23 a month, not $200, $300 and then I'm paying Sunrun $150, so I don't see me saving any money. When I told Sunrun about it, it was too late. I already signed a 20-year contract. If the rep would have told me that when he came out to my property, more than likely, I wouldn't have did it because I did it to save money. If I'm not gonna save any money, it didn't benefit me. It feels like I've been bamboozled.
The payment for the lease isn't gonna change, it's what I pay the electric company. They were basing that with what I would use in the summer and the wintertime. I'm not happy about it. But I would see how it plays out because I've only had it since May, so maybe it will improve. The only way it will benefit me is if I bought the panels outright. But who's got $30,000 just to do it? I'm not one that typically complains. I guess it's my fault for not reading the fine print.

Our house was hit by lightning three weeks after we got this solar and it fried the inverter, however we saw a decrease in our power bill so we knew it worked. We were satisfied in that regard. I’m a Sunrun customer for 3 years, on 7/14/2018 I notice that I’m only getting about 1/2 of solar production compare to previous day or week and it’s sunny all the time. I waited for 2 weeks then I called Sunrun several time and waited another 3 day, finally they call. First ring I pick up the phone they hanged up on me. So I call back and waited again and told them I had problem with my solar for the past 3 weeks and since they are monitoring why no one call me before I reach out to them. They respond that they “was gonna call”. Anyway they told me a technician will come out within 5 day, but no. I had to call again and speak to the manager to have the technician came another 2 days later.
Technician came and told me that he need to replace an part in one of the converter box (I got 44 panel and 2 box). So he make the call in front of me and told the part is coming but need 2 week to arrive at the warehouse, then he will come and replace it. (By the way he also turn off all solar equipment, which means I received no solar energy right after he came.) 2 week past, 3 week past, 1 month past (from 8/14 day that technician came) I call again. They seem to have no clue then told me the part has not arrive yet!! So I call again on the week of 9/17 (didn’t remember what date) and they said got the part and the technician will be there on 9/24 8-12:00 which is another no show.
During all this time they still charging me the monthly fee and I’m getting nothing from solar. Also got to pay both Edison and Sunrun for not servicing my system.Advertising as the "LARGEST SOLAR COMPANY IN THE U.S. DOES NOT GOT A PARTS FOR THE CUSTOMER. And does not notify customer that something is wrong with the system."

I’ve been wanting to look into solar energy services for a long time but I never owned a house where it was very practical. When the Sunrun salesman came out here, we got most of things done with him right there. The math seemed to work out for me, so it wasn’t a hard decision. Enrolling with Sunrun was fine and well explained. There was a paperwork that I needed to do but it was straightforward.
I had some things with customer service and I didn’t get it resolved. When the system was installed, they put in a password and set up a few things but our controller wouldn’t take the password and it never has taken it. Now, it functions and I don’t know if there’s any settings that I have to change. Nonetheless, I’m very satisfied with Sunrun. I’ve been watching the numbers. It started in April and I’m still ahead of the game. So with most of the air conditioning season passed, I’m delighted. I will not have to buy any electricity, with any luck, at all. Even if it was near break-even or a little less than break-even, I’d be happy to get Sunrun because the solar idea is good especially in this climate.

So they wanted to use inferior products, garbage warranties, and then steal your money. I decided to go with an honest company had have been very happy.
Please do some research and get a few quotes. Salespeople are not always there to hurt you. Someone came knocking on the door and told us about their solar program through Sunrun. Enrolling with them went pretty good. We didn’t really have any hiccups. We kept getting email announcements telling us when the next steps were happening. When they came out to put the panels on, it only took one day. The longest part was probably for the city checking it.
They do have an app on the phone that I can use to check my stuff, but I was trying to see where my actual paperwork was. They told me, for that part, I couldn’t use the app. I had to go to their website, and they have a copy of my agreement on the website itself. So, after that, there was no problem. I wasn’t there during the installation. My wife was there and there was one time where they had some noise maybe closer to one of the bedrooms when they were installing, but they didn’t bug my wife except to let her know that they were gonna be up on the roof and that they were done.
It's a good thing going solar because we can already see where the solar covers for a good chunk of my cost, especially this summer. I know that once I’ve had a year’s worth of time. We got it installed just before summer, so we’re really running off it. But even then, the cost of the solar plus the extra that we went over from the electric company was still cheaper than what my base electric bill would have cost me. And Anne, the lady who was very helpful came two other times just to make sure that the installation, everything was up to snuff for us, and kinda doing about the rundown. So, I like the fact that they kept on top of us. I don’t have any complaints about hopping over to solar.

The salesperson tried to push me to reconsider & the cancellation department said they received my request. I e-mailed the cancellation department again and they assured me the cancellation would be processed in 30 days & I didn't have to do anything else. I e-mailed again and said I wanted to make sure the cancellation went through within the 10 days. Then I started receiving phone calls and messages on my home phone. I had been thinking about solar quite a bit and I had five companies come and talk to me about their plan. I primarily went with Sunrun because of the gentleman that spoke to me about the company and what he was doing. His name is Jimmy and he had a very personable and likable way of presenting his material. He monitored the project as we went through it and he kept coming back. He went off and on while the crew was there. He kept me informed. There were a few problems at one point where they were having trouble getting some of their equipment to work, but that got all settled and solved. And, Jimmy stayed in touch with me throughout. The installation went well. The crew knew what they were doing and they did it efficiently and as quickly as could be expected. The whole thing took about two weeks altogether as we had to get the Xcel Energy part of the job done.
Jimmy showed me how to read the machine or read the meters, so I know what’s going in terms of our production and what we’re doing with Xcel. And I worked out some things with Xcel to have them send the stuff to me by email, so I’d get it right on my phone. And so, I’m very positive about going solar. Since going with Sunrun, I feel better in terms of our energy production and the fact that some of what we’re doing now doesn’t require using. It’s a renewable energy source, and we’re not using as much oil or coal or petroleum to use our energy. That was always one of the things I was interested in, and I feel good about that. I’m glad I went with Sunrun and I’d be willing to recommend them to anybody.

A storm caused the electric to go off and on for about 4 times and the solar kicked off and on also, since that storm they haven't been working right. We started calling and they said someone would come out on a certain day. They never showed the customer service is terrible and would never recommend them to anyone. The last call we made told them to take them out was told someone would get back to us. Sad part is we haven't even had the panels for a year. A friend of mine was telling me how much they can save and I understood it more clearly than when I first got introduced to it. When my friend explained it to me and then she got the guy who was a salesperson in our area to come to our house and explain everything, we decided to go with it. The enrollment process was very fast and everything went on schedule. The installer did everything and he made sure to come before I went out of town. I called him and he came over to the house with the breakdown of everything when my bill was kinda high. He explained everything in detail and he had somebody come and check. I'm very satisfied.
When my first bill came, I was shocked. It was $200 and I thought it was gonna be much less than that. I thought 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm was the time I really need to use solar because the sun is out, but it was not a good time. The electricity rate is tripled during that time, so we should minimize it. I did and I’m saving more than what I thought I would be saving, so it's good and I’m happy. When you live in Arizona, you use so much electricity so, the best way to go is solar. I’ve been a Sunrun customer since 2011 and for most of that time I was very satisfied. In 2015 there was a leak under the panels and they were very responsive. They came out and fixed the leak, replaced insulation in the attic, and painted the ceiling which was stained due to the leak. This past May I again noticed a leak, contacted them and they responded quickly again, reporting they fixed the leak. However, when I checked the roof it was still leaking in several places. When I called (after several tries) they finally responded saying that my “five-year roof intrusion warranty” had expired, and they should not have come out to fix the roof in the first place.
Customer Care Rep. then stated I needed to have the roof replaced and I should contact my insurance company to see if they’d cover the cost. They also told me it would cost $100 per panel ($2800) for Sunrun to remove and replace the panels. When I pushed back on this they eventually stated they would remove and replace the panels at no cost, but I would still need to replace the roof. I stated I was still incredulous that they expected me to pay for this repair as it was so clearly due to faulty installation. I also told them that I would need some time to get bids and find a contractor to do this work. I told them I would be back in touch when I was able to coordinate that work. At no time did they tell me that this was a time-limited offer.
In August, I contacted Sunrun stating that I had a contractor ready to go and needed to coordinate having the panels removed. I talked to the same customer service representative who informed me that the company would no longer honor the agreement to remove and replace the panels for no charge and the fee had gone up to $150 per panel ($4200). I of course was quite disturbed by them going back on their word. I spoke with a supervisor who simply reiterated the same position, stating that it was not something he could control or decide and when I asked to speak with the people who do decide he replied that those people don’t talk to customers. I also have no knowledge of and can find no stipulation about a five-year roof intrusion warranty. I cannot find any such stipulation in the contract and have asked them to provide me with written proof of this agreement. I have not heard back.
I’ve had three roofing companies bid on replacing the roof. The roof has a 30-year architectural shingle installed in 2003. They all voiced surprise that I was being told the roof needs to be replaced stating that it had a good 10+ years left in it. The only place the roof leaks is in 6 spots where the lag screws that attach the system to the roof are located. I’ve had to go up in the attic and install a large tarp to inhibit further damage to the house.
I also have concerns about Sunrun removing and replacing the system as it seems clear to me the system was either installed incompetently or their technology is faulty. They came out to inspect the roof in 2011 and then agreed to a 20-year contract. Four years later the roof was leaking and 7 years in the roof is allegedly non-repairable. What’s to say if I comply I’m not in the same situation 5-7 years from now? It is my hope that this issue can be resolved but having been in effect stonewalled by Sunrun, I’ve contacted a lawyer and fear this is the direction I’ll have to go. I’m quite disillusioned by the company at this point.

We wanted to lower our bill and we looked into getting solar energy services. Our next door neighbor told us about Sunrun and that he had done it. Sunrun contacted us about putting solar on the roof and lowering our electrical bills. Everybody that has come out has been really nice people. A guy came and told us that the system would cost us absolutely nothing. He said that there was an option to rent, to buy, and to do nothing and just have the system. We didn’t know how it worked, but that’s what he said, so we did it. We signed up.
However, when another guy came out to assess the situation, he told us that it was not gonna work and that we didn't have enough space at the back. But then he saw that our garage roof was flat and he said that that might work. So he climbed up there and he said that it would be great. So the crew came out to put the system up. They were only able to put three of the 22 panels on that flat roof because it has obstructions. They ended up putting 19 in the back.
We are not totally satisfied with Sunrun. We didn't understand that we would be renting the panels and it’s now costing us $129 a month. If we would have known that, we wouldn’t have done it because we didn’t save that much. Our Edison bill is $10, which is great, but now that we’re leasing the equipment from Sunrun, our bill is $139. That was what we paid for electricity to begin with, so we didn’t really save much.
They came out a week ago because we noticed that our bill was higher than we thought it would be. We were told that maybe our system was not running very efficiently. We are working on the advice they gave us, such as running the appliances after the thing loads up all day and running them at night to keep the bill a little lower.
Thank you for your review, James! We are happy to hear that the process of going solar was smooth. We do, however, understand your concerns with your system not working quite right. We do see that our field service team is working to investigate any possible problems. We will make sure we reach out to you once a resolution has been found!

We were going to build a casita and it was gonna use a lot of electricity. I talked to the people who had lived here three years ago and they said their utility bill in the summer was around $500 and that it kept increasing. They suggested to look into solar to get that cost down somewhat. One of the other houses we looked at had Sunrun's product and was happy with them. So I called them and they really were great to work with.
I had talked to people who had solar and they forewarned me that the Arizona Power Service Company takes months sometimes to get everything inspected. But I was rather fortunate because Sunrun did their thing when they said they were going to do it and it was actually quicker than they said. I had it up and running after they completed what they had to do in about a two-week timeframe. They were also excellent on the installation.
But I realized that since they came out and did the initial survey, I've built the almost 600-foot casita guest house behind my house. And I'm using a little bit more power than what they had estimated I would use. I have 32 panels and I'll probably increase that. We'll see how the winter goes and how I build up credits for next year. Other than that, I would also like some way to back-up a system and have some storage in case the power would go out for some unexpected reason. We have high wind sometimes and it knocks the power out in Arizona. People who purchased their equipment can store power but not those who lease it and I'm leasing mine. I've talked to the people at Sunrun and they said they were working on that. Next year, they may have a program where you can do that, not that you would have that much. But if you cab buy for a 72-hour period, that would be good. Nonetheless, going solar has helped somewhat.
Thank you for your review, Gary! We are so happy to hear that you are satisfied with your Sunrun system, and seeing the benefits of solar. We are hoping to get some type of storage program for our existing customers here in the next year, so be on the lookout! Sunrun sent someone out to the house and we went over with the evaluation. He did a credit check and we decided that I was worthy of it, so I decided to get their service. They did the installation quickly. It took a couple of weeks to get everything documented or whatever licenses they needed. But they rescheduled and got everything done. I'm satisfied I went solar.

I wanted to have possible savings on the power bill, so I looked into solar energy services. In the beginning, my experience with Sunrun was really good and everything was, “We’ll get right on it. We'll take care of that.” However, during installation, when I would ask questions, it took longer to get back a response. I even called a salesperson that's local here that I emailed and left messages for. I was trying to improve things and ask questions, but no one has returned my email. I've sent at least three emails over a month ago now that nobody ever responded to anything.
I just had some questions such as if I could do something or if I could add-on because I wanted to put more things on the back of the house. It catches 50% of the sun in the afternoons and they didn’t put it on the back and the front at the same time. The engineer said it didn’t need to since it would work on the back. It was just a question that we were asking to improve it and we were not complaining because it's not working.
When they were putting the panels up, they drilled holes on the side of the house and there was a little hole on the side that was left. They also got a big hole that I can stick my finger through it. Nobody has come back and nobody ever noticed it, but that was something they could have done too. They could have said sorry that it happened and that is all they can do to fix it, but they never answered to anything. If ever I have problems, I hope I get better results than someone saying what they did. Nevertheless, the solar energy service is up and running. It is working and has given me some savings. What bothers me is what happens if I have a problem and if they would act on the problem the same way they responded to my questions. I would still recommend them. I got a lot of my neighbors to get it right after I got it. They talked to me and I gave them some good references.
Thank you so much for your review, Norman. We are happy to hear that you are enjoying your solar and are seeing some savings! You can always expand your system after you've been with us for a year! The enrollment process with Sunrun took about six months and there was no problem at all. I've had it for the last three years with my bills being $14 a month. Nothing has changed but all of a sudden, there are two consecutive bills now that over 150 bucks. Last year, I had one bill over 150 bucks but it went back down to $15 the next month. So when the second one came now, I was like, “Um, there's something going on.” I'm wondering why the solar is not covering my bills anymore. When I talked to the customer service representatives, they were straight to the point. They said there was nothing they could do until they could see my bills. So I'm sending them copies of my bills. I initially looked into solar energy services for the savings and I was told that American Solar would cover 97% of my bills. Still, going solar has been amazing and I would tell others to go for it 100%.

I was one of the first customers to lease Solar System from Sunrun. The sales rep assured me that it is fixed rate for the next 20 years and won’t pay any extra penny over the agreed monthly rate. After one year I got shocked when I saw the charges for the yearly reconciliation. On the top of it, they charge me 2.75 cents per kilowatt where they sell it now for about 16 or 17 cents. I called them and I tried very hard to have them remove the reconciliation charges or to drop the rate to match today’s rate or even to purchase the system, they wouldn’t even negotiate or try to resolve the issue.
Don’t trust any of their sales because they keep them for short period and then get different people to blame their mistakes on the previous sales rep. Also, don’t trust their contracts because they scam you in case you need to go with them but I don’t advise you to do so. There are a lot of companies today with better reputation and lower prices.

We just had a Sunrun solar system installed in June. Before we signed the paperwork we specifically asked what happens if the system breaks. We were told that Sunrun would take care of everything. We were also told that are only other out of pocket expense would be $6.00 a month to PNM, unless we drew more than what our solar system was producing then the excess would come from PNM. That is fine. No problem.
Our system broke down August 17th, we were never notified, it was not fixed until August 31. We were then told we would have to pay the full Sunrun bill and the full PNM bill and maybe if we had some performance credit in two years we would get a refund. And that if happened again we would be expected to pay both PNM and Sunrun again. This was not ever covered in the sales pitch, we asked multi time what would happen if it broke down and were told everything was covered. Spoke with a Supervisor's supervisor who offered to credit us for this occasion but we would be responsible for paying double bills if it happened again in the future.

Being environmentally conscious, I looked into getting solar services. I heard that the prices were coming down and that there was a good rebate, and it was a good time to look into it. I have already gone pretty far along with another solar company, but I found out that Sunrun's prices and the Costco rebate were just a better deal. And the salesperson was much more knowledgeable than the other people I've been dealing with. They've also been in business and done a lot of installations, so it gave me the confidence to go with them. During the enrollment, everything was pretty easy with a DocuShare. It was customer-friendly.
I had to get permission from the homeowners association. We had to get the approval from the utility, and the permits from the city. So that took some time, but I was getting a lot of updates from Sunrun. They were pretty good about updating information. The installation went well too. With the way our system was installed, and the way that we chose to have it, you can't see it from the front of the back of the house. So, it's very unobtrusive. We wanna see a full year of bills, so we can really assess the cost-effectiveness of it. We went with the shorter finance term, a 10-year. So, we knew the cost would be a little higher. We're very glad we did it with Sunrun. The product is a good one and I have recommended it to others.

We continue to pour carbon into the atmosphere and we're all gonna pay that price so we felt going solar was the right thing to do. I have a college friend who works for a solar energy company in Southern California who's always singing praises of the technological improvements that have been made. He's too far away for me to talk to him but I knew that California was in the process of passing legislation requiring new homes to have solar systems. I knew that the solar systems had improved a bit so I had somebody come to the house and talk to us.
When the Sunrun sales rep came to our house, he had already done a Google maps search and found our house. He already knew the square footage of the home and the orientation, and he had a rough design of the system. So it was a no-brainier. And when we started talking about his company, he was very willing to give us contact, names of people whom we could call who had Sunrun experiences. He was great. He came back to us with a proposal and I had some questions so he came back to the house again. I had more questions and he came back to the house again. Fortunately, he lives a couple of towns away from where we live, so that worked out really well. He used to stop at the house either on his way to work or on his way home from work. So it was really great. It felt like we were getting hand-holding which is always nice. The questions were answered to our satisfaction.
After that, we had to decide whether to lease the panels through Sunrun or purchase it. We decided to purchase it given a shorter payback period. Fortunately, we had the money to do that. The sales rep explained the federal tax credit so I understood how that worked. Unfortunately, we're in New Hampshire where there's no personal income tax and no sales tax so New Hampshire is always broke. There was a state tax credit but they ran out of money so we lost out on that. That would have been a couple thousand dollars which would have been nice. But that wasn't a deal breaker. We called in through Comcast. Comcast had a deal where they provided us with a $600 prepaid debit card which was nice. So, we took advantage of everything and my wife and I both understood exactly what we were getting into.
After that, the sales rep quickly handed our account off to a project manager and they were handling all the paperwork such as the permits for the town that we live in, the contact with our utility to get the utility to do the hook up then the conversion of the net-zero meter, and the scheduling of the installation of the system. Everybody at Sunrun was really very communicative about what was happening and where things stood. I was always up-to-date. Everything that was happening was exactly what the sales rep told us was going to happen. The process affirmed what we anticipated and we came to expect that things were just going to continue running smoothly, which they did. Sunrun had also warned us that getting the utility to switch over the meter could sometimes take weeks, if not, a month or more. But in the end, it was just a couple of weeks so we were up and running two or three weeks sooner than I anticipated.
When we got our first month electric bill for my utility, just based on the dates and the way the system was tied up and connected to the utility grid, it wasn't a full month, but our electricity bill dropped from roughly $150 a month during the summer time to 35 bucks. That was the partial month. When we got our first full month of generating electricity bill from the utility, it was $13. And when we got our second bill a week and a half ago, it was $12.98 and that amount is the utility charge to be connected to the grid. So we're not paying anything for electricity.
All of our electricity is being generated plus we're now banking credits. In New Hampshire, whatever excess we generate goes back out to the street. And as the meter turns backwards, we're actually generating credits with the utility. Right now, we have about a month and a half worth of credits stored up right and those credits will be used when we get into December, January, February, March because we have long winters in New Hampshire. We know that the system won't generate as much then as it does in these summer months but those credits that we're banking will help defray the larger utility bills during the winter months. Overall, we're very pleased with our decision to go solar. My family is blessed that we can afford to do this.
Thank you so very much for sharing your story, Edward! We were delighted to read your review. Our aim is to make solar as user-friendly as possible and make sure that our customers are in the loop every step of the way! Also, knowing that they have Costco behind them, I felt pretty good. Everything went great with the enrollment process. It took a couple of weeks and it was easy. I've worked with Harrison a lot and he was always really gracious to either call me or text me when I had questions.
The installation was really fast. I know several people on the street who had solar put in and it took them a week. They had guys who kind of took their sweet time to do something which shouldn't take very long to do. But with Sunrun's installers, they were here way past dark and were sweet enough to actually just persevere, push through it and complete the job. They were also super good. They cleaned everything up and when they had a problem with my electrical panels, they were able to fix it and get it all taken care of.
So far, going solar has been good. I just had a few questions. It was a solid month where our temperatures were over 100 so it was a perfect timing that we turned our solar on. We also had a major heat wave, so from June 5th until a couple of weeks ago, I was running my air constantly. Then when I got a few of my gas electric bills, I wasn't really sure why it said what it said. The meter wasn't running backwards as well. I didn't like that as it was the peak of the day. Other than that, I have recommended Sunrun to many, many people.

I had 15 panels installed in June. It was supposed to be the bigger system, way more than I needed, but it turns out that in the summer months it's not anywhere near what I use. From what I can see, I definitely need another 10 panels. My hose is a little over 2200 Sq. feet. Also, no one in the office can tell me how much electricity each panel should produce. On the longest brightest days it looks like just 2 KW per day but I have seen companies that sell panels state that their panels produce 3.3 KW in a day. My APS bills are still very high, which means my system is very underpowered.

I'm an environmentalist and getting solar services is the way to go. Signing up with Sunrun was really great. I had representatives all way down the line and everyone was very professional. When they passed me on to someone else, they said, "Oh this is a new person that's coming, and they're gonna tell you something." The experience was really good and I followed up fairly well.
I live in Southern California so we have enough days of sunshine and it doesn't rain ever here. Ironically, it rained the night before the day of the installation, so the earth was wet and they couldn't do it. But, when they were able to do the installation, Sunrun did it very well in one day. Then, they called to see how happy I was. And I've been very happy. I feel like I'm helping the planet and my grandchildren. I'm saving money too. I would recommend Sunrun to anyone.

Enrolling with Sunrun was super easy. The sales guy explained everything, and everything was really easy to understand. Also, everything that he told us that was gonna happen was exactly how it happened. Their customer service has also been super helpful. If I had to leave a voicemail in one of the coordinator’s lines along the way, they called me back the same day within a few hours. We went live at the last weekend of May.

I'm currently in escrow with a home who has a solar agreement with Sunrun. I received their agreement so we could start the transfer process and saw that the agreement that the sellers made with Sunrun was absolutely not a deal at all. They are paying more than what Edison charges for a kWh. My sisters both have a deal with Sunrun and were paying a set rate of $0.17 per kWh which is a great deal. The agreement that the sellers are paying is currently $0.24 per kWh and it increases by 2.9% each year ending at $0.41 per kWh at the 20th year.
I spoke to the Service Transfer Coordinator who was very nice and professional and the only thing that she could offer is if I pay prepay almost $10,000, then I could lower it to $0.17 per kWH!!! That is absolutely not an option, but she is stating that is the only thing she can do for me. This is possibly going to cause a home to fall out of escrow because I would be paying more for the solar panels than I would be if I didn't have any. I even told her that my in-laws were going to get a Sunrun Solar agreement and it would be way lower than this one. My in-laws are now refusing to use them due to this their inability to renegotiate an agreement that was not signed by me in the first place. I'm just so shocked that someone even agreed to this agreement in the first place. I asked to speak to a supervisor who will hopefully have better news for me. The only positive thing was that the service transfer coordinator has been very kind and professional.

I went to a vendor fair and SolarCity was there. I asked them to give me a quote, so they did. At the time, I wanted to get three competitive bids, so I went on the internet and responded to something suggesting that I was looking into solar. Then I got some calls from solar companies, Sunrun being one of them. Their rep asked me how much my bill was and I told him. However, he said they couldn't do anything for me because I didn’t spend enough to warrant solar. Still, I told him to give me a bid anyway so I could be sure that I was getting a good deal from SolarCity which I chose because of the Tesla brand that I respect. But then, this Sunrun guy spent about an hour with me on the phone and he gave a lot of education. He taught me how to read my electric bill and we went over all of that. Also, he told me that Sunrun works through Costco, which impressed me because I trust Costco.
The Sunrun rep was so patient and very informative. He did a much better job of educating me about the whole solar process and ended up giving me a quote for the minimum size that they could quote, which is 10 panels. It was only $700 more than SolarCity's but it was larger because SolarCity did a smaller system. So I told him that I would go with Sunrun because I trust Costco over Tesla. Also, I didn’t mind buying more than I needed because I’m hoping my next car would be electric, so I’ll probably need more panels.
I've been going solar since mid-June when it went live. The Sunrun team is very professional and they keep you informed. They’ll keep in touch with you every step of the way, letting you know what’s going on. They were good at predicting how long the process would take because it does take a lot longer. Most people don’t realize that solar is not something you just buy and it happens overnight. They have to get permits and then the city’s PG&E has to come out and inspect it. Also, the city has to inspect it as well before you go live.
There was one guy that irritated me though. He was the one who came out and inspected my house to measure, to make sure the roof was okay for solar. I hope I don't sound prejudicial, but he was Filipino. I asked him to go up by a ladder through the hole in the garage to get to the roof but he insisted that he would go through this crawlspace in my hallway that had never been opened. Also, I didn’t want him to go there because there was another access point. Still, he acted like he knew better than me and he was not gonna take directions from some ** female. There was insulation above that thing so I asked him when he came down if he put it back the way it was, which he couldn’t possibly do because once he put the wood down, he couldn’t lay that to make sure that it was flat and covering everything properly. He said yes but after he left, I noticed that the wood wasn’t even flat. It wasn’t correct.
I talked to the next two people who came and to everybody. I expected them to deal with this man and tell him, “I’m the customer. You listen to the customer. Also, give your guy some training.” The reps both promised they would. I could tell they followed up because they had it in their notes. The next person that came, someone I've never met before, asked to look at the site. So I knew that the word was passed along and that they were going to make right for what this guy did. That was good.
I went to the climate change rally in San Francisco on Saturday and I felt good that if anybody would ask, I could say I went solar because it’s the right thing to do. It wasn't about the need to save money because my electric bill was $38. I looked at the history in the app to see how much I’m spending or saving, and it has only been four days since it went live but I’ve used more than I sent to the grid. I pretty much send electricity to the grid every day, although it could change in the winter. I bank my extra energy for a time when I might need some. Overall, going solar has been great.
Thank you very much for sharing your story, Diane! Our aim is to make solar as easily accessible for as many people as we can, and we are so happy to hear you were able to take advantage of that. We have experienced numerous disappointments while dealing with this company. June of 2017 a sales rep from Sunrun came to our door. We were informed incorrectly by our sales agent regarding the contract and what in entailed. The day Sunrun came to our residence, we explained that we were probably not good candidates because we were selling the house within the next two years. This was explained to your representatives at our residence. We were then told by your sales team “That will not be your problem, we take care of everything and transfer services out of your name at the time of sale”. Unfortunately, we later found out this was not the case. The sales representative neglected to tell us that regardless we would be responsible for 20 years and that the buyer would have to qualify and agree to all the terms of the contract. My husband was also told that this would be a great selling point for our house.
This is also untrue considering all the news stories and blogs showing the numerous problems and issues with the 20 year lease, the nightmare of dealing with your company to transfer services, and the ongoing legal issues with SC and getting approved inverters for the service to even work. To be honest, I never probably would have looked into and read into detail about the issues with your company had the service been started in the timeline they gave. Unfortunately, after 6 months of numerous excuses and emails from Kristopher **, we began to look deeply into your service and read the contract word for word, and to be honest we would never have probably done this had everything went smoothly. Once 6 months had passed with the numerous excuses from your representative Kristopher ** that I began to lose complete and total faith in your company and representation.
I was also told there were about 60 contracts in our area a few in my neighborhood alone that they installed equipment and the inverters which were not approved by our county and as of January when we checked were still not approved and had not heard from Sunrun on a resolution. From that point I began trying to work out a resolution with Sunrun to remove the solar panels from my residence. We have talked to several representatives with your company.
However, two of them have tried their best to get your legal team to see these issues we have had to no avail. I have talked to several representatives and to be honest your company has basically made your bad business the customers' fault. Now OVER a year later and several problems they are sending us a breach of contract in the tune of approx 22,000 for a service that was never started due to their own error. BEWARE OF DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!

I was wondering what solar was and I wanted to see what was going on. I was ready to push in and a kid came door-to-door and talked to me and pushed me into Sunrun. The signup process was not that easy because of all the paperwork. Still, the people were very helpful and everybody was responsive. Currently, I don’t have solar, but I pay Sunrun instead of paying my local electric company, and it kinda comes close to even. The only thing I regret is when there is no electricity and the sun is up there. It will be nice if I have an option to use my electricity and not turn it off. That would be big if there was a switch to manually turn it on and disconnects you from the network completely, and the solar starts going directly to your house. Also, we can’t send out when the lines are down. Beyond that however, it's seamless and it's the way it’s supposed to be.
The people don’t give you all the information because they’re afraid they’re gonna lose the deal. So they give you only the good news, no bad news like how long it takes. It took almost a month longer than what they said it would be. If we had issues, the communication between the power company wasn’t that great. They were supposed to cut off to switch the meter, but nothing happened. One day, I found out that somebody came in and changed the meter, and nobody knew about it. The meter was changed, but the process was still going through. When the people came in, they made the plans and they talked about it. The last time they came in, they said they wanted to do it differently. I asked why and I said that I would like to see the plan at the beginning done that way. It was like I had four roofs. I’m in a split, so we had to put them and they gave me all the pitches for the second one. When it was all done, it was like the first one.
Many people talk differently the way Sunrun's people are talking to contractors to put them up and the way they brought the wires down. They went from the roof, into my roof, from the top, and right out. If they did it one inch outside, they didn’t have to ruin my roof and it could have been a lot smoother. Otherwise, they did a very good job.

I regret making the decision on selecting Sunrun. They gave a lot of promises before signing the contract. After the contract is signed, the sales rep pretty much hands off. And the customer service is not helpful at all. I am on my own trying to resolve the issue. Moreover, just on the financing side is a huge mess. I made a big downpayment, informing Sunrun to send to their partner company Loanpal. They not only took their time refuse to send my downpayment to Loanpal and in the end still not getting it resolved. I've been call, sending emails, making all kinds of effort trying to get it resolved. It has been 2 months and it is still pending. It should not have been an issue with any regular company.
Also, they took the PG&E rebate incentive even though I'm going through the purchase option. I was told they gave me a better pricing. However, the sales rep never shown me the difference on the pricing. I don't think this is even legal. I would avoid having anything to do with Sunrun based on the nightmare that I'm still going through with them.

I had looked at another company and they had come out but I didn't trust their guy. He didn't give me a spiel that I liked. So, the guy from Sunrun that I ended up signing with explained what I needed to know and I wasn't disappointed. Enrolling with Sunrun was easy. The only thing was my roof got blown off and they had to take it all down and then put it back up again. That cost me a grand. I wasn't happy about that. Other than that, since I have gone solar, I've noticed a difference in my bills every month. Not so much in the winter, but definitely in the summer which is enough to cover the cost of the solar, but it hasn't made a whole lot of money yet. But in the future, I expect it might because of the fact that energy is gonna keep going up.

The Federal rebates are gonna be running out, or phased out after this year. I went with Sunrun, but I have battery issues and the load shift doesn't seem to be set right. And I have an ongoing problem with them, not responding. I'm getting the Sunrun-around, between the salesman that sold it to me, and then Sunrun. They were also supposed to get back to me and to get me in touch with the battery specialist, and then, they were supposed to do this and that, but I still haven't got any information on any of that. It's been about six weeks that I've been trying.
It's kind of a daily monitoring process to go out and see what the batteries have done and whether they've been backed up right. I thought they would take care of everything after I signed the deal. I've had to monitor things myself, identify the problems, rather than them, coming to me with the problems and how they're gonna fix them. I'm still not sure whether Sunrun or SolarEdge is responsible for the battery issues. I'm not sure who does what. If SolarEdge gets the data, Sunrun engineers are supposed to be analyzing it to see if it's right and everything is dialed in correctly. I'm confused about that whole thing. However, during the enrollment process with Sunrun, it went okay and it was easy.

A friend has Sunrun and he said it was really good. Costco also sells it and we’re Costco members. Those things spoke volume. A buddy of mine also recommended Sunrun and the people who sold me the solar, Horizon, promised me an iPad. I got a mailer that said if I sat down with them for a presentation and if I signed up, I would get an iPad. But I never got that. So that was the only bummer thing about it. I called at least once a month for three months. They said they would mail it but it never happened. I was really bugged out about it. After several months, I gave up and stopped.
That aside, the enrollment process was easy and nice. I sat down with the representative and signed up. They had great customer service throughout the process. Sunrun itself was great. The solar was installed and I like it. I check my wattage everyday and I usually average 20 to 26 kilowatts a day produced from the solar so it seems like it’s doing good. It’s producing almost 700 kilowatts a month. When I did my homework, I use 7,006 kilowatts in one year. So I’m trying to be more conservative with the power inside the house. But it's working and I'd recommend Sunrun.

I have called Sunrun about 10 - 15 times within the last month to have someone come to take a look at a leak in my ceiling that may have been cause by the initial installation of the solar panels (I originally bought the panels from another solar panel company, but Sunrun bought the company and the warranty that I still have on the panels and service). About a month ago I called Sunrun to have someone come out to look at my ceiling to verify if the leak was caused by the panel installation. They sent someone that did not have any equipment to do an actual check. The technician told me that I had to open the ceiling myself and once I find the leak to call them so they can verify it. So I opened up the ceiling myself and the next day it rained and I found the leak. I called them again, and they said they would have a technician call me to schedule an appointment, that was about A month ago.
It’s now August 27th and I still have a big hole in my ceiling. I have been calling 1-3 times a week to have some come just look at the hole in my open ceiling to view this hole in the roof. They keep saying that it’s an issue that they have fixed and that I will get a call in 24-48hrs for an appointment. I don’t know what to do. I have the warranty, but they will not fix it if they don’t verify, and they can’t verify if they don’t send a technician. At this point, I might just call someone else to fix the leak and my ceiling, and just call it a lost cause. I’m very frustrated with Sunrun.

However, enrolling with Sunrun was more complicated than I thought. There was a lot of paperwork including permits and authorizations to have the system cleared for operation. Also, I didn't understand the terminologies so things got delayed a couple of months. It was a matter of going back and forth to make sure I had everything. They could work on making the terms more understandable to the layman. But other than that, their system seems to be working fine. I then contacted people higher up and got my deal reinstated, got thru the permits, planning, and even scheduling the install then they called and said they don’t install on houses with open beam ceilings any longer. Funny since then I have run across three salespeople and they know nothing of not doing open beam ceilings.
It is my belief that this is just another excuse to get out of the deal they offered me but had no intention of following up on. I have called other solar providers and they have no problem with open beam ceilings. Going to follow up and see if they are indeed still doing open beam ceilings, if so I think a nice visit to a courthouse will set them straight. Even though at this point I wouldn’t want to do business with them. Long story short stay away from these folks.

We saw Sunrun at Costco. Their rep, AJ, came out, gave us the information on how it would go and I thought it was a good idea. The financing was not going to cost anything more than the monthly bill averages out to, so it was a very easy decision. My wife did some research and found out that Sunrun had a very good reputation for doing good installation. So, we went with them. Also, the customer service was great. They scheduled things out, but there were a couple of little delays along the way. Schedules didn't always work out exactly the way they initially planned, but they communicated well and they definitely kept me up-to-date.
They first inspected the roof and made certain that the initial plan that they had done just from the aerial images was actually doable. Once they confirmed that, we all decided on the plan, and they scheduled the roof inspection where they came and made certain that the roof was good enough. They wouldn't have to do any repair works so there'd be no leaks, because they guarantee it for 10 years. The roof underlayment didn't need to be replaced in that section. Then, they came and installed the panels. We simply waited on Edison, the electric company, to give us permission to operate, which took about the time period that they said it would.
On the other hand, it's a peculiar the way Edison is choosing to do the billing. We have a very small monthly bill and an accruing negative balance. Why don't they simply go ahead and balance that out? Other than that, during the day when the AC is running, we're also generating a lot of electricity. The net effect has been my bill was reduced to about 1/10 of what it had been before and the net effect is we're ahead now, but that may change going into the winter when the days are shorter. Sunrun pretty much takes care of everything and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. If I were doing it again, I would do exactly the same thing.

I was interested in seeing if I could save some money with solar energy and I liked the Sunrun presentation better than some of the companies. However, the savings was not as much as I was hoping for. The first two months, I got a small amount of $6.7 and $7.7 back but the next month the weather was hot and it was about $165 that I had to pay. Nevertheless, Sunrun did a good job with the enrollment process and they seemed to be concerned and interested in me as a person, so I was happy.

I saw that Home Depot and Costco had a Sunrun representative. I haven't heard of them before but after further research, I realized that they're one of the biggest solar energy companies. I've been interested for quite a while to get solar but I wasn't sure who I wanted to go through. I was very curious. We have multiple plug-in cars since 2013 and since then, I've been more aware of how much electric we consume. Also, my wife has a Volt and my daughter who lives upstairs has one too.
Enrolling with Sunrun was pretty efficient and smooth. There was not very much effort on my part, other than signing my name on the dotted line. However, I was a little drawn up, but I understood there were lots of regulatory things to go through with the local utility. It took a while to get done but once it was actually installed, I was pretty happy with how quickly it was done, and that it was up and running. I was also very happy with the supervisor who oversaw the installation. He had really good communication in answering any questions I had.
My utility was extremely helpful. However, I don't know if there are some limitations about what the provider could tell about the utility company, or recommendations. They had a very specific number to talk to with my utility and specific options available that not a lot of people knew about. But they never reached out to me about doing time of use. It was something I had to do a research on and ask about. But the biggest hiccup with them was the disconnect between the local people and the corporate office. I have local engagement, which to me is way more important than anything else. Sunrun should have more ownership on their corporate side and a lot more dialogue should happen as far as what the companies are doing or what their expectations are.
But overall, I'm very happy with Sunrun and I expect the payoff to be fairly quick. 10 years would be the ceiling for me. But when I did calculations on what we were consuming and saving, I found out that we were about in the eight-year range. I would definitely recommend Sunrun to anyone who's getting solar so they'd to know all their options.

We moved to a new house and the cost was so high from the previous energy provider. The electricity price keeps going up every year, so my wife said that we go solar. I regularly shop at Costco and I see Sunrun all the time at the entrance. The Sunrun reps came to our house and they explained the different plans that they have and the financial estimate. They looked at the roof and explained to us whatever we might need for our house. We signed the MOU or something about the price of the panels that was going to go up. Everything was very good particularly the price. After we signed an MOU, the technicians came to check out the roof if it was up to par for the solar panel. They let us know some of the issues that the roof has, so we had to take care of that. Then, the solar installers came and installed the solar panels.
The enrollment process with Sunrun wasn’t difficult. There was a time that we had to wait for things to get done, but we didn’t have to do anything in a way, just a little signing of papers. So far, I am satisfied with my decision to go solar. We are saving money, although not necessarily a large amount, and we’ll see how the payment changes in about two years. Right now, we only pay the interest in the solar panels and we are saving about $38 off of the electricity bill. It also increased energy, so that makes it a little better. I have friends that have Sunrun before I had started with them and they mentioned that it’s the best. That’s why I went with Sunrun and it was easier for me. I’ll do the same thing to other people.

When I called and talked with Gibson from Sunrun, we had a long conversation and after I got off the phone with him, I was convinced. Their reps were absolutely fantastic. They were very professional and informative with no pressure. They gave me the price I was looking for and we had a deal. I was getting my electric bills about 550 the month before, and it dropped down to 200 and ended up down to less than $25. But I got my bill today and it’s back up to about 331, and I don’t know if that’s on my end or not. Still, I would tell others of my experience and give my number to call, and I have done that to several people already.
Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback, Alvin! We are thrilled you had a positive experience and you were able to speak in depth with the solar adviser.

Going solar is a good idea and we considered Sunrun, SolarMax and Solaris. It was very close. What tipped it was that Costco was behind Sunrun. We felt that they wouldn’t back Sunrun unless they were a solid company. Plus, we had a corporate membership so we got some money back on that. But it seems like they don’t have their finances or their finance situation in line.
We wanted to put $5,000 down but they said that we had to be 18 months in then we could put $5,000 down. We didn’t understand why unless they wanted the extra credit for the interest charges. It made no sense to us. On any transaction, be it a car or a house, they can take a down payment and it reduces the principal. But the people at Sunrun didn’t understand how to do that and they didn’t know how they could get it done. They didn't understand the simplest mathematical equations of putting down a down payment. That was the most irritating thing. If we had known that at the beginning, we wouldn’t have gone with them. At that point, they had already put some stuff on the roof so we were locked into the process. So it ended up that we would wait until halfway into the 18 months and pay the extra interest on that. We were really upset about it.

When I was tired of paying the high-priced APS, Sunrun had the best opportunity and sales pitch. However, their system crashed the first week the panels were up and it took them two and a half weeks to get out there to fix it. For a company that's getting big in Arizona and for the number of panels they have up right now, they don't have enough technicians in the area to do service. Although the compensation for the system being down that they gave me was not adequate enough, I had no choice but to take it 'cause that was all they were offering. Otherwise, I am satisfied with them. I also liked that they're tied in with Costco so they gave me a good incentive for being with Costco. I'd recommend them.

A Sunrun sales rep showed up at our front door one day when I was at work, and my wife thought it was valid enough to have them come back. They did, and since then, we had the solar panels installed and we’ve been happy with it ever since. We had contacted three other companies here in Las Vegas and talked with them, a couple of which happened to be when we were in the bankruptcy, so they didn’t wanna talk to us. And then, we were working through one sales rep with another company. Evidently, they couldn’t find time to meet with us. So, when Sunrun showed up, we went with them. Everything worked out really well as far as I was concerned. Any time we had questions and we called, they were timely with the correct answers.
Also, the installation went a heck of a lot better than I had anticipated. One of their installers had stopped by the house one afternoon and asked me if they could just go ahead and store supplies in our garage prior to the installation. I told him that it was fine. So, we left both cars out. The day before the official installation, they had put the rails on the roof. So, that made it so much easier for them the next day to get things laid out in place. They had given us a time frame of three days for installation, and they were done in a day. The only thing was the electrician had to come out two days later and finish something on the panels from the back of the house, and that was a few more hours for him. And we got more solar panels than they’re used to installing, too. They said ours was about the second biggest project they had ever handled.
I like that with going solar, we’ve gotten away from having to pay NV Energy and we’re using the power of the sun. I keep telling the guys I work with that if they ever want to check out solar, they should check with Sunrun because three of the others didn’t offer the same process and program. Also, if they’re gonna take me up on it, I'll get $350 for a referral.

Their guys did the installation on a Saturday and worked around our schedule. It was a big crew of people. They came in, did the job and were gone in a few hours. We’ve enjoyed having the Sunrun equipment, which is on the back side so they don’t distract the house. Since going solar, our electric bill has gone down considerably. Although it's not winter months yet, I suspect the electric bill would go up as there's not as much sunlight during that time.

We have a Costco membership and Sunrun have salespeople there in Costco. We happened to walk by and I grabbed a little information handout. Enrolling with them was easy. We were quoted a three or four-month timeline from start to finish, but we were done in two months. The installation went excellently. It was done within a day, although there was one small little hiccup, a caveat that they should have mentioned from the beginning. The installation team needed access to power, but the power to the house had to be turned off in order to install the solar.
The installation team that came out needed to charge their backup battery packs. Luckily for me, my neighbor across the street was very kind and willing to give us her outlet for them to charge their batteries. Customer service has been really good. They have always been quick, prompt, courteous and they don’t hesitate to follow up. We've had a couple of small issues with our battery because of newer technology. They can observe the battery remotely and there were some slight technical issues. I would recommend Sunrun in a heartbeat. In fact, a good friend was looking to get solar and I said they had to go with Sunrun through Costco.

The sales rep came over twice and as far as expertise and professionalism, she was really good. I feel good about harvesting sun energy although I feel stressed about having to pay the bill. I'm still monitoring and I won't know if Sunrun is meeting their commitment until the end of the year because it's based on a yearly total amount of energy they guarantee to produce. So far, it's been on track and everything's been good. Also in my situation, the solar panels look cool. They're all like one piece, so it's clean.

The cost and the environment made me look into solar energy services and my neighbors who had recently purchased theirs or leased theirs recommended Sunrun. Enrolling with Sunrun was easy. Travis came out and he wound up coming out twice because we couldn’t make up our mind. He was a good salesman. We had it installed since April or May, but, all of a sudden, I started getting very big bills. I went out of the country and Joe, the guy who was supposed to be monitoring everything, had left two phone calls. When I got back from Europe, I called him back a couple of times because my bills were around $180, and this month, it was $200 and something. He stated that he noticed there was something wrong, but he never got back to me. I noticed it and their side was supposed to be monitoring it, but it took them two months to catch it. I’m still waiting and hoping that I’m going to get a nice refund because it wasn’t working properly.
Finally, I had to call Travis and he had Taylor call me, and the guy came out. It’s a brand new system and we’re still waiting for a part. For the last two months, I’ve had very high electric bills and now, I'm still waiting for it to be fixed. While everybody has been very pleasant to deal with at Sunrun, I am dissatisfied with the experience as a whole. Hopefully, that will change when the part comes in.

We were skeptical about solar to being with but our sales guy was fantastic. He answered all our questions and was very knowledgeable and he even got us a rebate-he worked for a third party sales company. Our contact going the process was amazing, always calling/emailing and checking in or giving updates-she didn’t work for Sunrun either. The company that installed our panels was awesome! They were very nice and explained how the system worked. Again, third party company did the install. First day my panels got turned on I was told “congrats and a month from now you’ll start paying the payments on the panels”. That same day my panels weren’t working. Not all the panels were working 23/29 and then there was an error message showing. I called Sunrun, waited on hold for 35 mins and they told me to restart the system, while I was restarting it I got disconnected - they didn’t even try calling me back.
So I call them back, wait another HOUR, go through the same thing I told them I had already restarted it and the error message wasn’t going away and there were less and less panels connecting. They wanted me to restart it again! I told them I just want someone to come look at them, they said, "Well let’s try troubleshooting first," then I got disconnected again with again no callback. I tried calling back again and they were closed for the day. So I ended up calling the company who installed my system, they were closed. I left a message for the on-call person. Within 10 minutes I received a call back and he told me that the error message was something internal and I needed to get someone out there and he would do it but he needed prior approval from Sunrun. I had to turn the system off for the time being.
A day later I looked and our system was turned on and seemed to be working so I figured someone came out. So I let it go and just out of curiosity (5 days later) I looked at my production report for the week. I had production on that one day then nothing the rest of the week. I go outside and the system is on but not producing and the panels are not all connected. Of course it’s the weekend so Sunrun customer service isn’t open and at this point I don’t even want to call them.
I’m so frustrated. I have had my solar panels officially “turned on” for over a week now and I have barely gotten one day worth of production. So now I’m paying for both the panels and my electric company bill and my panels aren’t even working. I’m dreading my electric bill this month and with it my Sunrun payment. I can’t afford both of them. The customer service sucks. Up until we got our system turned on all the other companies we worked with were fantastic, Sunrun terrible.
Thank you for reaching out to us, Kenzie. It's disheartening to hear this is the experience you had from the beginning. A specialist has sent you a direct message regarding your concerns.

Sunrun's system has been working like it is supposed to but I had one of the men check it as something was going on with it. He said that we had a problem and that system comes on and it will go off thereafter. Everyone at Sunrun informed me and kept me up-to-date of what was going on and even told me what was going on, what everything was, and educated me. So, it was great. Going solar has been exactly what I expected. It helps save, and it has given us the comfort that if anything happens, we have the battery pack and if we have power outages, we know the important areas will have the power. I have recommended Sunrun to one of my friends. I told him about the saving and how easy it was to not do any of the paperwork with the electric company. I also informed him about the low payments and that the cost goes up a little bit each year but not much.

We had seen Sunrun's trucks running around our neighborhood and one of their salesmen stopped by our house to talk to us. After he talked to us a bit, he made Sunrun sound so good that it was hard to refuse. My wife just retired and I’m gonna be retiring in the next three or four years, so we were looking at ways to try to save money as we go into retirement because you don't have quite as much after you retire as you do while you’re working. We were looking for some ways to save a little. The enrollment process was simple. We had to do a few things, but the rep did all the paperwork. From the get-go, the customer service was perfect. Anytime I called and asked a question, I got an answer, and if I needed somebody there, they sent somebody out. The installation was wonderful and they did anything they could do for us. However, after I flipped the switch and turned the system on, it all changed.
On the first month that I had it on, I got my power bill and it was a little lower than I thought. I paid it like there was nothing about it. The next month, I got a power bill and I wondered why I was gonna pay anything if we didn’t use that much power. I called Sunrun and they kept battling back and forth. I told them that I was not getting really happy about it and I tried to get some explanation. The lady at Sunrun told me to give it another month and see what happens. I gave it another month, but the power bill went up even more. I’m paying Sunrun $57 a month. It’s constant and stays good throughout the year. I’m also paying whatever power I use off of the grid that I can’t cover with my panel. I was not covering near my power bill like I should be and I got a power bill of $58. When you add the two of them together, I’m paying as much as I was paying before I went on Sunrun, so I’m not saving any money.
I called them up and I asked some explicit questions as to how much power I made from one given date to another where the power bill was. They said, “You made this much.” I asked, “How come the power’s only showing this much?” I called Duke Power and they said that I used this much and they didn’t show that. I called Sunrun back and asked if they thought we needed to add some panels. They said no and that we are at 98%. I said I was not. If I was at 98%, then I would be paying but $2 or $3 to Duke Power. I got so mad at them and I said that I’m gonna shut up and I won't be calling anybody else.
At the end of the year, April of 2019, we’re gonna look at how much I paid Duke Power and how much I made and see if I gained anything. If I didn’t gain anything, then we’re gonna have to come in and put some more panels on this house or replace the whole system out. I'm not saving any money and it’s not worth it. Sunrun is a good company until you get to deal with them on the back of it. During the installation and sales, they were wonderful, but after that, they were the worst company I ever dealt with.
Hello Sumner,
I am a Customer Care Specialist at Sunrun and am following up regarding the feedback you provided.
I understand how frustrating it can be to not have a clear understanding of your solar system and the way solar works. You utility company will never see the full production of your system because during the day when the sun is out, everything you produce goes directly into your home. The only production that they see is your extra production that you do not use during the day. We are very confident that you will produce what your agreement guarantees. If you do not, then we reimburse you the difference per kwh on your anniversary. Please make sure you are not using more than you normally would now that you have solar. Your system was built on your usage prior to having solar. If you are using more than that, then that could be another reason why you are not seeing the savings you would like. Please feel free to contact me anytime regarding your solar concerns.

Michael and Michelle can come to my house anytime. They always responded and did what they could to get things right and they stayed on top of it.
The only stumble was the last job for my mother-in-law's place, but Sunrun came and stepped up as far as the financial side of it. They put in a whole new box and redid three quarters of the roof for a total of five grand which would normally have been about $15,000. They had a little deal at the end where they didn’t coordinate too well but they took care of that within two days and all the installations were very nicely done as if it was their own home. It's nice not to get any bills from PG&E except for the gas for two months. On my sub-lease property, they're noticing a $700-saving so they're very happy. My mother-in-law is very happy as well.

I have called Sunrun every month and first of all they can't find my account as they have a different zip code than what mine is. No one knows how to change it to the correct one. Now to my bill before I got my panels the sales team came to the house and looked at my previous electric bills and give me an estimate on what my cost would be. I advised them that living alone in a fairly large house I would keep my thermostat at approximately 78-81 in the summer months which is a little on the warm side in Arizona.
I told them that I was getting married and there would be three others moving into the house soon and that my wife and I wanted to keep the house around 75 degrees. I was told no problem that the panels produce more than enough electric. Well this is not the case. They base my cost on budget billing which I have never used. And like I have said between what Sunrun is charging and the regular electric bill I am paying 40-50 dollars more per month. I called them and ask why do I have this if I am paying more. Their answer is, "We understand and will look into it and get back to you." But never a returned call.
I could set my thermostat at 80 plus and get some relief from the bill but that's not what the company promised. They said I could set it lower and still save money. Not looking for a zero bill just some sort of savings. Sunrun preached about customer service but as soon as things were installed it all went away. Stay away from the company as you too could see your electric bill go up instead of down. All I want is for them to make it right.

I set up my own solar system when I lived back in Nevada. Once the opportunity to do it through the lease, I went with Sunrun. Everything went smooth and they gave us guidance. We also have an electric lease, so I charge it off the sun all the time. I'm very satisfied going solar, except when the power goes off, we have to run off of those separate plugs. It doesn’t automatically switch over.

I did some shopping around and went to a couple of different people. I also listen to Bill Handle and on that station, I heard a Solarmax commercial. I had different people come over and the Solarmax rep that came out was a little more knowledgeable than anybody else. Everybody else who came out did a diagram of the panels on the roof and said, “This is the best location.” But when the Solarmax guy came out, he got a satellite view of my house and told me the longitude and latitude of where I’m at and where I’m gonna get the most sun. I thought to myself that someone did some research because it was the opposite way of what everybody else was trying to sell, and the way the others were advertising was a farce. I wanted to go with Tesla because I liked the theory behind all of its technology, but I liked Solarmax and they had a better rep come out than anybody else.
Sunrun monitors my solar panels all the time, so if there’s ever any issues, they do a call-up and come out and take care of the issue. Their communication is really good. I also like the fact that I live in Riverside County and everything is made here and sold here, and everything is taken care of right here in this area, instead of dealing with somebody two states over. The installation process went great. The guys were quick and very clean. I’m really happy with what I have. I’ve been running my air conditioner 24/7 and normally, my bill would be over $300, but now, I’m on a fixed rate, so I can run it day and night and know what my electric bill is gonna be. I’m happy with Sunrun. I’ve already told other people about it and one guy bought it.
Thanks for making our day, William! Setting the standard in outstanding service is something we (seriously) obsess over. We also strive to make joining our effort in creating a planet run by the sun very clean and simple. Thank you for helping us create a planet run by the sun!

I wanted to save energy and save on my bill. I did a research online, but because I'm a Costco member, it made more sense to go with Sunrun. I listened to the presentation and it made it easier for me to decide on going solar. The enrollment process was easy, and both Sunrun and Edison were communicating with one another and Sunrun pretty much did all the paperwork. However, I felt there was a gap. I was left alone, especially in the middle when it was like the waiting game. I also didn’t like that I was the one reaching out. Nobody was contacting me, so I had no idea where we were in the process. Somebody would simply come to my house, and I wouldn’t get phone calls, so I didn’t know what they were doing or who were those people turning up to my house. I should've gotten phone calls from them about what the next steps would be and how long it would take.
In addition, I have had several extensive communications but nobody has explained to me what happens now between myself and Edison. No one from Sunrun helped me and told me, “Once you go solar, Edison should be sending you like checks.” Edison keeps on sending me my monthly bills where I'm negative -$15, -$10, but I haven't received the money. Right now, I have no idea what Edison is supposed to be doing. I feel like they have my money right now. Other than that, it was a good experience overall. Knowing that I have solar panels makes me feel a little bit more at ease and I have noticed a difference in my bills as well. It's a good choice to go solar.
Thank you for your feedback, Jose! We are happy to know you are satisfied with your solar system. We appreciate your feedback regarding the communication. I will be forwarding this to our Project Coordination department as an area of opportunity. We can always improve. Thank you for helping us create a planet run by the sun.

I had solar energy service before on another property that I owned and it was a very good way to go. I did some research into solar products and called a couple of companies to try to figure out which one was gonna be the best. I had eight vendors come in and the pricing of Sunrun and the prior history of what other people have said about them made me decide to work with them. Having a company that was established meant a whole lot because when I initially had solar energy service 20 years ago, that company changed hands five times. Overall, my enrollment experience with Sunrun was very good. They were very professional and everything went well, except for when they had some penetration on the roof, but they fixed that. The interactions that I've had with the customer service team have been excellent any time.
I wanted to be able to reduce our energy bill and since the installation of our solar system we've never had a tremendous energy bill. Where I live in El Cerrito, we go through power outages on a regular basis. But as a result of Sunrun, we have a backup battery. Although we still have power outages now, we have power every time. The ease of knowing that I would have power when the grid goes down means a whole lot. I was so impressed with it that I referred some other people to Sunrun and now they're with this company too. Sunrun has done very well and we're very satisfied with our decision to go solar.

Signing up for Sunrun's service was good. The communication was good as well and the sales rep had a lot of good information. Aesthetically, putting the panels on the roof didn’t hurt. They look nice and they’re on the back side where you've gotta get quite a way away from the house to see them. Going solar made my electricity work better and took my worries out of getting heating and air conditioning to my house. Plus, my electric bills are a lot less. I'm really glad that I went solar for environmental reasons.

Solar energy is awesome and enrolling with Sunrun was spectacularly easy and I’ve been telling everybody about it. I bought a brand new house and everybody in the development team was using Sunrun and I heard nothing but good things about them. Sunrun was also working with Costco, so it was a no-brainer to get. My electric bill went from an average of $350 a month to negative amounts. It’s extremely hot and I have my AC on full blast. Sunrun is on top of their game. I had a problem with the fuse though but they fixed it right away and then there was a follow up by the technician and he did an awesome job.

One of my neighbors and a friend recommended Sunrun. The manager had a rep come by, and I talked to several other people here in the subdivision. I liked the information, and we're locked in at 15 1/2 or 15 cents a kilowatt for 20 years. I had a pretty good experience when I enrolled with Sunrun. It was an easy process. I also liked the fact that there was no outlay of cash. I do none on the system, any of it generated goes to the grid, not to my house. It's not ugly on the side of the house where this is all mounted. During the installation, they broke two tiles, told me about it, came back and repaired it. They picked up their mess and did a heck of a job.
Sunrun's customer service team was very good. Their rep kept me informed of everything all the way through it. I was told about a $10 fee every month, but it turned out to be closer to $20. They were not upfront with that. Also, there's the hassle on referral fees. I'm still waiting on one that I processed two weeks ago. Sunrun should also put on better panels. One of the referrals that I set up, ended up going through a different company and the panels were probably better. And I like the other company's website better. It shows what they would've paid and shows what they paid, and the website was a little bit easy to maneuver. Sunrun needs to work on their website a little bit.

I would like to expand my system because they didn't give me enough panels at the beginning to cover my electric bill. They either don't respond or say they can't do it. I've had the system for about four or five years and haven't heard a word from them. They didn't come to check on it to make sure it's all working well. Even so, going solar is great. I'm 90% satisfied and I can save money from it. The installers were also great in installing the panel. I would tell others to go for Sunrun but to make sure that they would be given enough panels.

Our power company charge a lot so we looked at a couple solar services. I had three different estimates and they were reasonably closed. Through people that my wife and I worked with that had gone solar, Sunrun seemed to be the top runner with them. So, we went with them and we were very satisfied with our decision. Our electric bill prior to going solar were averaging $320 a month year-round. Now, we pay our power company with $12.95 a month. We took a loan out on the solar and the payment on it is $2.12. So, it’s still way under what my power bill was. So far, we’ve been on the line for two and a half months and our power company owe us $216 when we checked our bill the other night. We generated more than we’ve used.
Enrollment was as easy as anything I’ve ever done. The sales rep was really nice and then they sent an engineer to come out to do the design. There was some phone interaction with their people as far as the progress as we went along, which was good. I felt really informed. We took off for a period of time and we’re in Florida, and we were still able to keep in touch with what was going on via email and phone calls. So, it was a very good experience. We had a fault while we were in Washington and we got an email saying that there was something wrong with the system and that they would be contacting us, which they did almost immediately and set up a day to come out. They found out that the fault was a surge from our power company while we were gone. I have battery back-ups too. So, it did some kind of a deal which they had to reset and I was still generating.

Electricity is so expensive in Hawaii and we decided it's sunny here a lot, so solar energy services made sense. I was trying to find a company that did solar since we are in Hawaii, and I found Sunrun online. I did a bit of research and found that they had better overall approval ratings from their customers when I did reviews. Enrolling with Sunrun was simple and the process went smoothly. The reps were good one time we called customer service about turning the system on.
At this point in time, since going solar we're saving about $50 a month. It may not seem like a lot of money, but when you put over a span of a year, it's a decent amount of 600 bucks, so we're happy. There was no out-of-pocket charge for us either. Other companies wanted us to pay $20,000 down, but I didn’t wanna do that. Sunrun's program allowed us not to pay anything down for installation. Sunrun put it in and they maintain it. We don’t get as much of a discount on the electric as we would if we owned it, but for us, it made more sense to do it this way. It's definitely worth it, especially if you aren’t happy with your current electric bill.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Shannon! It's wonderful to hear things went so well for you, this is our goal! We appreciate you joining us in our mission to create a planet run by the sun. Power Forward!

We were working with a different solar company, but our township grid was closed when we went through the final process, so we were shut down for almost a year. When the grid finally opened up and I contacted that company again to move forward, they were no longer going residential. So, I started researching other companies and Sunrun popped up. The enrollment process with Sunrun was fantastic. It was fast and efficient, and the service reps were easy. Matt, our service guy, came out and went through the process.
He took our old plan from the previous company, looked them over, and made improvements. He was readily available and he gave me his phone number so I could text him or call him with any questions. He constantly was checking up every week and he was getting in contact with me and seeing how things were going during the whole process. We also had another advisor and his name was Pete. He was on the backend of it, but he was always there to make sure that we were fine with everything.
Sunrun upgraded the panels that they were gonna use to higher efficiency panels and gave us around ten more. We were contacted almost immediately from the company itself and everything moved really quickly and within three months, we had the panels on and were ready to go. The installation guys were fantastic and they had everything up within two days. They cleaned up my yard and the mess they made. They were also courteous coming through the house trying not to disturb anything. They were all friendly and the experience was perfect.
I try to recommend as many people as possible to go solar. I sit on a board of education and our school was talking about going solar, so I gave Sunrun’s name to our board of education for them to look into. I recommend a couple of other people, as many people as I could, to try to use Sunrun. The whole thing is great. My panels cost me starting out, which is less than half of what my electric bills were. My electric bill has been $4, which is basically the processing fee. In total, between our lease and our electric bill, we still pay less than half of what we were paying for our electric bill. We have between 93% and 97% solar coverage on what we get. When Matt came out, he was explaining that most people get between 80% and 90% or 85% to 95%, and we had one of the highest percentages of solar production that he has ever seen. We have 53 panels and they cover our garage, the front of the house, and the back of the house.

With Sunrun, we’re leasing them, so if something happened to his system, he had to pay to have everything fixed, whereas when something happens to ours, we don’t. Everybody at Sunrun was really nice. The system is installed on the back of my house and in the back of our shop, so people can’t see it.
Since having the system, I’ve been getting a lesser power bill. If I can just get the power down to zero, I’ll be doing good. The bill was about $40 something and last month, it went down to $30. But this month, it jumped back up to $70. I called to ask Sunrun why and they said everything was working good. I already had solar before, but the company I had gone with got sold out and the new company who bought them was terrible in customer service and even billing. They had too much volume and weren’t able to take care of things. When I moved recently, I wanted to do solar again in my new house. I needed a new company and Costco has been great for everything. A rep was talking about solar for Costco and said that they went through Sunrun, so I went that route.
The customer service was excellent. It almost seemed like I had my own personal worker who was notifying and updating me of every step. They would notify me through email or call and would schedule everything very well. The process was very pleasant and very smooth. We have a brand-new thing installed and it was great. The installation was all within one day. They came first thing in the morning and most of the panels were up before noon. They got all the wiring and the panel stuff updated and they got it all taken care of within the day. The inspector came after that and finished up the rest.
The panels are of good quality. However, it’s not a matter of the panels. It’s a matter of the service you get when you need the service. There will always be questions, issues, and concerns. And the type of feedback you get when you have those questions and issues is what makes the company. I appreciate it when I get that positive customer service. Because of what I’ve experienced and because of everything I’ve seen and how they’ve treated me, I’ve already been commenting very positively and highly about Sunrun. I already have a few friends and family members who are thinking about it. Some just don’t have the right timing, but everybody is getting positive notes about my experience, so it’s a good thing. My experience when enrolling with Sunrun was positive. They were very responsive and answered all my questions. They sent a spreadsheet of the different factors that I was looking at and trying to compare them to Sullivan Solar Power. The responses I got from Sunrun were very accurate and complete so I felt real comfortable working with them. The attention to detail they provided and their willingness to respond to my questions made me go with Sunrun. They were totally above board. There was no evasion to convince me to put in something different than what I wanted.
We talked about the number of panels and why the numbers were appropriate for my consumption. Their price was also competitive. After the installation, I misread the instructions on how to activate it and I couldn't get the battery panel to record. I had to call Sunrun and talked to a lady there. They sent somebody out to check it, and the person showed me what I had misinterpreted and it worked out.
Going solar means a lot of savings in electrical charges, for the SDG&E charges are base amount every month and it's what they call a non-bypassable charge. Over seven months, my total bills that we'll settle out at the end of the year of the contract with SDG&E right now is $80, which is barely over the non-bypassable charges plus the taxes and surcharges with SDG&E. I've had a dead zero utility bill ever since I put the system in. I've got a swimming pool and three adults living here at the house. They're here consistently so I'm very satisfied with the system and I've recommended Sunrun to several people. I got one neighbor on the one side that doesn't have solar. He went with some other company and he's regretting it. He'd done his a couple years earlier than ours and he has not been that happy with his. But I'm fairly enjoying mine and appreciate it.

I've been thinking about going solar for years but I wasn’t sure because of the location of my house. Then recently, I said that maybe I'd have somebody to look and see. Sunrun was recommended and the comments on the internet were good for them. The enrollment was a good experience. The only problem was they had a problem with their contractor and Sunrun had to drop them and get a new one. So that delayed the process for about three months. And while they figured out another contractor, we were isolated and there was a confusion about who was going to be the contractor in this. But we got in touch with their customer service team and our interaction was good.
The system is operating fine now and although there was only one time that it went out, they were right on it to fix it. It's also nice not having those big PG&E bills monthly. A lot of people can't afford to put one in straight out though. I paid for the whole thing for 20 years and the main reason was because I'm up in years and it would be transferred to my kids or to the new owners if they sell the house. I'm happy with mine and I'd tell others to look into it.

Stay away from this company when purchasing solar systems. They are impossible to deal with and downright fraudulent with how they deal with their customers. I purchased a home with an $80K prepaid leased system by Sunrun. One meter transmission system had already failed (seller didn't tell me, not their fault), the second meter transmission system failed a few months later. I tried for months to get them to come out, they finally did and said they couldn't fix it. Refused to replace the transmission element and refused to pay to trench to my house to get to the router (really, in today's age of electronics, they don't have a transmission system that can reach my house which is barely 100 yards away).
Told me the only thing to do is manually read the meters, so I did that weeks ago. Now they're telling me the person who handles that is out of the office until the end of August. And PG&E is going to hit me with a $3500 bill in August because they haven't been receiving the meter readings from Sunrun. Sunrun has been paid, they don't care. Their response, "PG&E has payment systems to help you." Really? You're defrauding me of the energy savings that I paid for and that's your response? Stay far away from this company.
