Everything was really good enrolling with Sunrun. The install crew that came was fantastic. The only two issues I had, one was getting the inspection, which took them six weeks. It was during the summertime and so I felt like I lost six weeks of production. That could have been handled a little bit better on their part. The other one is at the end of the process where if I signed the contract, they would give me $1,000. I haven't received that. I tried to contact my project manager several times through email and he's not answering. He was out somewhere in the western part of the country and the local guys were the ones trying to handle everything. And the communication between East Coast and West Coast was not always there. Other than that, everybody I dealt with was fantastic.

Sunrun offers a leasing program, which was very attractive to me. There was no money out of pocket. They also answered directly to my question. I saw them in Costco and they explained their program to me. I did it twice for two houses, on my father's house and then on my house very recently. Signing up with them was very smooth and easy. It was very painless. It's been a good experience from start to finish.
They took pictures of my house and asked me to move a few things that were near my electrical panel. I sent them a photograph showing that I was ready for the installers to come. They showed up in the morning and they got right to work. They were gone by early afternoon. They let me know that SMUD would be coming out to check the installation. After that, we'd be flipping power on. Everybody was clean and organized. I like the look of the panels on the roof. On the house that I put Sunrun on first and sold, the solar panels were an attractive point for the buyer. I feel very comfortable about having solar power.
You brightened our day, Richard! Our goal is to provide you with the best solar service possible and we're delighted to hear that you had a good experience with us as you do your part to keep the earth clean.

The experience with Sunrun was so good that I went back and put them on my new house. Step by step, I knew exactly what was happening via email constantly. I got an email telling me when the inspection was gonna be. They said they were gonna be there at 9 o'clock and they were there at 9 o'clock. They said they were gonna be there at 7:30, and they were there at 7:30. When they cleaned up, I gave them paint for the garage. They painted everything that they scratched or had to cut. They replaced the drywall and repainted for me.
They called me up and told me they were gonna turn the system on and what I needed to do. Then we were online. I have a 500-gallon saltwater fish tank and I did not lose power. That was what I was most afraid of. The lights did not dim. The only downside was I was looking forward to stepping up the process. I know that they're busy but it was a little over six months from my first phone call to my last phone call. I wish I could have had it in two months. Nonetheless, my neighbors got Sunrun because of me.
We're so happy to hear that you had a good experience with us, Rodney! You have enough decisions to worry about, and it's our goal to make going solar an easy choice. Thank you for helping us create a planet run by the sun!

I have been dealing with this company since July 2021. I call and call and call and all I ever get is, "We will mark your concern as URGENT.".... No call back. Long story short, DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY!!!! THEY ARE TERRIBLE!!!! I have e-mailed and called, I have even emailed Lynn Jurich, CEO.... I guess we will see if I get any response. I believe that they may have breached their contract. I am currently in talks with an attorney and have notified my local news in hopes they could help me. I know I have also cost the company about $100,000 in sales, as I have deter numerous customers at the local Home Depot and Costco where they have sales kiosk. I will continue to do this till I get someone to return my calls and help me... I am also looking for other customers that may have had similar issues who may want to join me in a possible law suit....

When I decided to go solar, I was considering the price, for one, and trying to cut back on my electricity price, which would have happened. Only, it's still not working since September. But the sale process and the installation were great. The rep did a nice job on the roof, making sure it didn't have any leaks after. Getting all the permits and everything cleared with the power company was easy too. Sunrun did all of that. It's just, they haven't got a technician out yet to take care of it. But I think it's just because they're lacking in help just like the rest of the country.

When I try to go into it, it says I need my account number, etc. but I never got one of those.

Sunrun had the best pricing. I enrolled with them and my rep was knowledgeable. He was able to answer all my questions. The person in charge of my system installation was one of the best contractors I've ever dealt with. He cleaned and remounted some of my stuff and he did a lot better than I did. In the beginning, there were some glitches with the system. But a rep from Sunrun contacted me and showed me how to reset it. Ever since then, it's been working great. I was hoping they would take pictures after the installation was done to make sure that all the tiles on the area weren't damaged because I have a high roof and it's hard for me to go up there and check. Other than that, Sunrun did a pretty good job and I'm impressed.

I thought I was gonna be saving money but I was mistaken. My light bill is still the same. Also, I thought if there was gonna be a power disruption, I wouldn't be affected. I didn’t get what I want and I wish I never got the solar energy service from Sunrun. When the guy comes out to talk to you, instead of him doing all the talking, maybe he should sit back and answer some questions. The speech was about an hour long and I forgot some important questions that I wanted to ask, and it never got answered. But the installation was perfect and the guys did a great job. They kept working in the rain. My hat's off to them.

A longtime friend of mine got Sunrun and talked to me about it. Sunrun got over to the house and after they explained the system to me, I went ahead and had it done. The guy that we had did all the paperwork and got it taken care of. I liked him. He was as nice as he could be. It took them two months to get out here but it took them one day to put the panels on. It took the electric company three months to come out here and change it over. We wanted to make sure we got July and August so we could have the big payments for our electric bill. They said they were backlogged but we finally got it taken care of.

I would not use them. They overcharge monthly - and god forbid you get behind. They call you morning noon and night and customer service associates are rude and do not help you at all. I was told I could cancel and have them come get their equipment at no charge at any time if i was unhappy and that was a lie. They tell you to get you to sign up. They will not come get the equipment. Once it's on your roof you own it and must pay the full cost of it if you hate it.

The work was done great. It was very clean and I was happy with it. The panels were in quickly and are running very efficiently. However, I would not recommend Sunrun to any of my friends. The initial experience with Sunrun was easy and pleasant. It did not stay that way, though. They dropped the ball on my project because they contracted out. After I got financed and they installed all the panels, I was waiting for them to send their own inspectors to approve the work and go to the next step which is to contact the energy company that would then give me the approval to use my own solar energy that I've been storing for months now.
Their own mismanagement of time let my project fall by the wayside. I wasn't able to use it for more than two months. They didn't schedule an inspector for my project. I started paying on the system without being able to use it. I was calling weekly for an update but they couldn’t provide me with any viable solution. They assigned a supervisor to my project after I suggested that they reimburse me for the payments that I have made. It took a while but ultimately, I got reimbursed for two months’ worth of payments.

They didn't give us the option to add on this mesh paneling to keep the birds out of the solar panels. We have this nasty bird problem and it's horrible. But there's nothing we can do about it because I don't have a spare $1,000 laying around to pay for to cover the cost of those mesh netting. I see my neighbors with it, but I didn't know that that was something we needed to request to be added on. We could have rolled it into our mortgage like we did the cost of the solar panels, but no one told us anything. It was quite frustrating. We just have to deal with the birds until one of us gets a spare $1,000. But right now, we had to pay a downpayment for this home. Functionality-wise, I have no issues with Sunrun. Everything is running perfectly fine. Our electricity bill was minus $15 this month. Everything else, I'm totally, completely 100% satisfied with.

SunRun disagreed with APS telling me to buy more panels. One year later I am still paying this stupid contract (it goes up every year) and paying APS. Costco is where Sunrun had their booth. Costco doesn't just have anybody. They always deal with better companies. They stand behind it. So I knew if there was an issue, I have Costco to back it up. Somebody else had told me that they were one of the ones that they thought were good. I also didn't have to do any upfront money. The salesman was good because if there was anything, I had contacted him and then he jumped on it. There was another guy, they both have the same name. I had gotten confused at the beginning. But they kept on top of it.
It took a little bit longer than I thought it would. But it wasn't a terrible one. It wasn't a year or six months. Once it was up, they had one inspecting company come and then I had to wait for the city. Part of it was because somebody contacts the city to do their inspection and they didn't give the inspector the gate code 'cause I'm in a gated community. We had to wait for them to come back out again because the guy said he came out and the city here is independent to where if you don't do everything for them, then they don't go out of their way to do anything. That might have delayed it a little bit. But I'm just glad that I don't have a several $100 bill every month.

I am in a lease with Sunrun, formerly Vivint. I am paying $184 a month and that goes up 2.9% every year. So my Edison bill is currently 600 dollars and I'm in the 5th month of the 12th month so it could continue to rise. The sunrun salesman comes to my home and tells me I need more panels at $69 a month on top of the $184 a month. I said why wasn't I given more in the first place. He said I would have to get a 2nd system installed and would have 2 contracts. I really am so disgusted with them. I have contacted another company that their system would be bigger than the 2 combined with sunrun and I would own it at $152 a month and I could claim the tax rebate. I am ready to terminate the lease and tell them to come get their stupid panels.

We moved to Arizona about a year ago and I feel that we should do our part to conserve energy. We went solar but it didn't really lower our bills when you take into consideration the loan that we had to take out. We're breaking even, maybe a little less. The other reason we went solar is that if we have a power outage, we need some electricity. My wife is handicapped and we have stuff that's plugged in. We have a koi pond that needs to be pumped. If there are outages, we don't want to not have power. About a month after we had everything turned on, we had an outage and the solar part didn't kick on. I was so angry.
After a day of calling and having no one available because it must have happened to a lot of their other customers, they sent someone out. They said, "The installer didn't turn the battery on." We were going for a whole month without it being properly turned on. I said, "Someone needs to reimburse me for whatever extra power I had to buy." After spending $40,000, to have something as stupid as that happen to me is unacceptable. Sunrun should pay for whatever power I had to buy that month.
The other thing, when they had to install all the panels, they had to move our sprinkler system controller. About two weeks after they did that, I had a sprinkler contractor come in to do some other work and he said that thing is not up to code. They moved that and they didn't do it right. There was bare wire showing. It was sloppy to me. The installers were really nice young men, but it wasn't the quality I expected because Costco usually vets their clients. I trusted Costco's vetting and I didn't see the quality that Costco was saying that Sunrun has. It was very disappointing.

This time, Sunrun had some problems installing my system. They said they were gonna give me $1,000 for the inconvenience after the system was put in. It's been put in a couple of months now but I haven't heard anything. I'm wondering if they're gonna pay me what they said they were going to and how this system is gonna work. Sunrun has been very good. At the time that they bought the company that we were with, we were getting a third set of panels on our house to help keep the true-up bill down. Everything ran smoothly and efficiently. It took a lot of time, but it was because of the approvals that they had to get from the city and PG&E.
Sunrun calls me occasionally to check up on everything and if I have any problems or questions. I had a question but the last person I talked to from Sunrun wasn't able to answer it. The true-up bill for this year, which isn't due until March, is already $889 and that is a lot. I'm a little concerned as to why am I having such a high true-up even when I've gotten another set. My house is only 2,000 square feet. It's not that big, and we don't have it freezing cold in the summer. Also, if I'd do it again, I would probably try to purchase the panels rather than lease them. My sister recently bought panels for her home and she pays a lot less money than I pay monthly for our house. Her home is a little smaller, though. She pays less than $100, and mine’s always about $250.

My bills are lower and I'm producing a lot of electricity and I'm happy. I don't know how it's gonna go for 20 years. But for right now, it's at least as good as I could have possibly expected.
I talked to their rep yesterday. I went to a lease program rather than buying upfront and there's a deal where I can pay my lease off at any time so that I won't have any bill monthly and it would save me money. I'm going to refinance and I wanted to know if they filed a lien against my house. I called him and he told me right away, "Our company does not file a lien." I liked the way the process was explained to me by the sales rep. He made it quite easy to understand and I felt comfortable with it. Enrolling in Sunrun was easy but to get them to fix the problems that they had created was a nightmare. It's always one excuse after another. I still got a trench in my yard and it's me that's gonna have to fill it out. There were metal parts that were laying on my grass. If I was riding my lawnmower and hit one of the metal pieces, there was no telling where it was gonna go to.
When the inspection was supposed to be done, none of the gentlemen from Sunrun was here. When the final inspection was supposed to be done, I waived it off until everything was fixed as far as the side of the house went. I was missing a boatload of siding. The installers said, "This will be fine. No water will get in there." But in the meantime, it looks like total crap. My boss was interested in getting the service and I was telling him about it before I started having all these nightmares. Once he saw the damage that was done to my house and what's done out in the yard, he decided to go away from Sunrun.

It took me a few days to reach someone, whereas PG&E was super responsive. Then Sunrun sent people out who were nice but did not know how the system worked and it took two more days to get someone out. I had to call Sunrun numerous times. They were sort of putting it off and saying it was not a big deal. It's a big deal if my power doesn’t work. Their tech support was not great. I had to get ahold of Alina just to get her to respond to me about anything else happening on my account.
I had a girl that was supposed to be the one setting up for the city inspector to come out to do everything. She sent me a message at almost 11 o'clock the night before to let me know that I needed to make sure that my husband or I was home from work and that all of my dogs were put up. That was unacceptable. I work in customer service. I work with patients and schedule surgeries, and I would never call my patient at 11 o'clock at night for surgery and say, “I expect you to be at surgery tomorrow, 8 o’clock in the morning and take off work." I have people that I'm hoping to still refer to Sunrun but those two things put a horrible taste in my mouth. The customer service aspect of that was awful.
There are still some other hiccups that I'm dealing with right now but I've been speaking with Alina about them. We've already gotten our first bill from our energy company. They charged us $130 for our first bill. They’re saying that Oncor is not reporting any energy to them. My system's turned on so I don’t know why my energy is not being reported. When I pull up Sunrun, it’s showing that I’m producing. If I get another energy bill this month, then I’m gonna be very aggravated. Why do I have this solar system if Oncor is not reporting it? The city inspector that came out told Oncor they needed to put a new meter in. I followed up on that many times with my project coordinator who just seemed to ignore me every single time I had to say something to her. That got pushed under the rug too so I don’t know if I’m supposed to have a new meter. I feel like I'm getting screwed.

At the beginning, it was great with Sunrun. A representative came and explained everything. The process was very easy to understand. Because I had started early in the year, he said, "You're buying at a good time because a lot of people wait till the summertime then they're upset because it takes a little while for us to get permits." However, the system wasn't up and running until late August. I wasn't happy. It seems that no one from Sunrun knew what the other person was doing. The first day that they came, within one day, all the panels were up. But once the panels went up and that first crew came, everything went south from there. Every time somebody would come, something wasn't right.
They decided to run the electric boxes on the left side of my house because my panel was on the back end on the left side. The first person told me that they were going to need to upgrade my electrical box because it was old. The next guy came out, started on one side of the same side of the house and set up two boxes. Now, I have an electric kill switch and another box. They left and said they were going to send somebody else out. Another person came out and whatever the previous person had done didn't make sense to them. They were on the phone, questioning. We got another person coming and they said, "We need another panel. Your electric box has to be on the other side of your house because we don't want wires crossing over your pool."
The guy that came was very standoffish. He didn't want to discuss anything and seemed frustrated. He dug all these holes then added pipes that ran from the side that the original men had started then started running a pipe up around the top part below the bottom and digging holes. I've got pipes all over the place. He put in a brand-new box on the other side of my backyard. He did his thing, left and nothing was running.
I was out of a job because of covid so I was home. Had I been working, we probably would never be up. Then, they sent two men out and they were scratching their heads. They said, "Why did they put another panel on that side of your house?" There were tons of visits from different people and it seemed like nobody knew what they were doing. At that point, I was complaining to the original guy, Adam, who was a lifesaver. He kept telling me to contact the project coordinator. I would call and email but she would never respond to me at all. But if I would text Adam, he was right on it. He gave her a call and that was the only time she would respond to me. Nobody could give me an answer as to what was going on and why my system wasn't up and running.
Finally, they said they were sending another guy out and they were going to contact the fire department and the city. The guy that came had a box and there were seals to identify each box. When he got here, he was scratching his head and asked, "Why do you have a box on that end and on this end?" He was not sure about where to put the labels because there are so many boxes. The fire department came and said it didn't make sense. It didn't pass. They called somebody else out because one of the persons that came made so many holes. There was concrete showing and they had to patch them. All of the little tubes to run the wires had to be painted in order to pass inspection.
A painter came and he was a very nice man. He patched up where the concrete holes were and painted all of the pipes. The fire department came out again. The guy felt sorry for me and said, "I'm going to go ahead and pass this, but you're going to need to redo on the opposite side of the house where you had the box. You need to do that before the city comes or else the city isn't going to pass it. All you have to do is take a picture, send it to me, and I'll okay it so that we don't have to make another appointment." I was so happy that he did that.

The person from Sunrun that came was very good. The install day was good too. The men showed up on time and did the installation. Before they left, they cleaned up as they should have. They did a wonderful job. It's been great knowing that I now have solar energy to power my home. It was just kind of a long process between PSE&G and Sunrun to get that whole Permission to Operate completed. That was a big ordeal. I had to be like a project manager for that process. My install was in July and it finally got activated two weeks ago. Another problem was that I was promised a Visa gift card as well as my referrer who is my neighbor, but my neighbor still has not received it. It was easy to work with the salesman of Sunrun, but he had a bias towards our purchase agreement rather than owning. Also, after the system was installed, it took 11 weeks to get it activated. I called them almost every day to try and get it going. The agent didn't seem to know what was involved in activating the system, getting it inspected. So I went to City Hall and Sunrun and did it myself. Their communication, in-house, is terrible. But the solar is good. It’s what I expected.

The process with Sunrun took forever. It's been five months and they just finally finished the second property. It hasn't really been the most pleasant experience. These are rental homes and tenants were more than willing to coordinate with them, installing everything, but they always had their excuse, the permits and the city's behind. I'm already familiar with that. I own several different homes with solar systems. It's not the first time. But with Sunrun, it's been the most awful experience. It was way too long.
I also received an email that I owe $7.50. Today, I received an email from the sales rep saying that we're going to go over it because finally, they installed the last two systems. My wife and I signed a direct CHA, those types of bank transactions so there shouldn't really be any money being billed to us at this point. But I need to sit down with the sales rep. He told me not to ever talk to customer service and say he will take care of it.

We've had Sunrun for our first set of panels. We had additional panels added because the first time, the guy who put the panels never put enough and I almost got rid of Sunrun and sued the company. When Katrina came here and had me put extra panels on the roof, she did her job perfectly though she was new at it but the installation was horrible. There were two guys that were installing the panels and they were arguing throughout the whole ordeal. Also, Sunrun was gonna suck the second set of panels out of my mom's checking account and I don't want that. Every month, when Sunrun sends the bill, there's always something that's saying we owe more than what we owe. When I send checks to the exact amount on the bill, they're always trying to get the next month's bill. I don't pay in advance for something I haven't received.

In the beginning, I didn't like the sales rep at all. He just came in here, looked around, got on the phone, and said they were leaving. The crew packed up and left. They gave me no information. When they finally got out here and did the installation, they needed more room on the wall in the garage and didn't tell me that the first time. That ticked me off. They were very unprofessional in telling me what was the problem here. They got it done in one day but it was extremely expensive. It was $24,000 for one day's work and for the solar panels. I should've negotiated that price. I could have saved thousands.
They dropped a big heavy box of nails from the very top of the roof and it went all the way down on the patio roof and broke some tiles, and we found the nails in the bush. I had to give it back to the inspector when he came out and did his thing. He fixed the tiles and that was a good thing. But Sunrun's customer service response and the timing on getting back to me when I had questions was inept. The person I was supposed to be in contact with was very hard to ever respond and I wasn't happy about that. I ended up calling Tesla because I wanted to be sure everything was up and running. They found a few things that we had to do and Tesla themselves got everything going.
Sunrun came highly recommended and back in the past few years when I talked to a Sunrun guy, I didn't know if the batteries from Tesla were a part of the package then. But that was the only guy that was honest in telling me that, financially, it didn't make sense for me, and it didn't. I was very pleased that he was honest about it. The other ones, all they wanted to do was put crap up and be gone with me. Other than those, I'm happy. The July bill was 351, the August bill was 400 and some dollars, and I finally got the new bill with the solar which was $32.

I was trying to look at a purchase and the prices were high. Sunrun had this power-up purchase and it seemed like it might be a better way to go. It turned out to be a lot less cost and it would be replacing the batteries and other units that have less than 25-year life cycles. It would result in a lower cost than the purchase. I worked with my Sunrun rep over the internet and signed documents online as well.
The installation went extremely quickly compared to an experience I had with another company that took forever. With Sunrun, plans were made and I had the person come out and do the flyovers and the inspection. The design was done quickly too. The city permits and electrical permits were all set up and the installation began. Within two days, the setup was done. I like the installation even though there was a glitch on the monitoring circuits and there was an error with rewiring the monitoring for the non-battery backup circuits. On the whole, Sunrun seems to have proper connections and they do professional jobs.

Sunrun presented the information to me in a way that made sense financially. They had a local branch and the salesperson I was working with lives in Vermont. He was wonderful. There were a couple of things that came up that I'm still questioning though. One was that on the initial phone call that we had, he said that if I get someone else to do the Sunrun, I would get $1,400 back. It seemed amazing. But then later on in our discussions, somehow, it was 1,200 and now, when I looked at the incentives, it's 1,000. Those inconsistencies really struck me as strange. That felt a little bit like a sales technique where you say it's this, but then it goes down, and then now I see it’s even lower. It made me feel a little uncomfortable. But other than that, he and his communication were good.
When they came and put up the solar, it was fine. But they hooked everything up and it was up to the local power company to connect. My new connection person kept calling me and asking me if the power company had done that. I kept saying no. I didn't know that they had done that. Whatever it was that they were supposed to connect was up and it was on my house, but I didn't know it, because the local power company never said, “Hey, we did it.” They just showed up probably when I wasn't there.
So, my solar wasn't turned on because I'm supposed to turn a lever that actually turns it on. We went for two weeks with no solar. The communication between the young woman who kept calling me and the power company was non-existent. It was a little bit of a bummer. The Sunrun reps were great people, they were really dedicated and trying to be good at their job, but that they might have been a little inexperienced.

The most recent one was here for a couple of hours and he told my husband he doesn't know what's wrong with it. He keeps having the same error and he couldn't clear it. He said that he needs to bump it up to tech support because there's still an error on my system and it has to do with the batteries.
Also, I had a problem with coordinating, setting up, and people calling me back. Ben was out of the picture when Ben sold the system. The installation day was bad because the crew was on the roof for 10 minutes and my Homeowners Association officers were at my door because the installation hadn't been approved. It turned out Sunrun had not run the installation paperwork through my HOA when they told us they would. My HOA was upset and they couldn't find where the paperwork was for the installation. That aside, the actual installation process went smoothly. The crew was up the roof for only three hours and they did a good job.
The app is great to use and the system is making power. Everything is as advertised. It has offset the bill and it's supposed to be 98.6% offset. When they installed, they forgot to turn a switch on in the power box and so my oven wasn't working nor was my garage door. So, I called back. They had just left and the guy on the phone was like, "Oh, yeah, we're not responsible for that. You'll have to call a local electrician." I was like, "No, I think they didn't hook something up or something and whatever." Then, they had somebody else call me, and then they sent me a text. I was pissed. I went downstairs, I figured out which breaker they didn't push on all the way, and then the electrician showed up back here. I was pretty unhappy about all that. On top of that, I have seen no savings.
Also, I wasn't told much and I am not thrilled with it. My parents said they saw a huge saving, so that's nice for them but I really haven't and they were kind of stupid when they came here. The guy's an electrician. The light for the downstairs is connected to that breaker, too. They didn't notice that the light didn't come back on. It was a pretty big waste of time. Even though prior to that, we needed approvals, but the installation guys were great and super helpful. From start to finish, it took some hours, but from the beginning, they gave us a heads up when they were coming in. They finished everything and before they left, they communicated with us about what the next steps would be.
The rep also told me that this is a long term thing and we won’t see the benefits right away. But so far, the electrical bills are coming down. We had the problem on our first bill because we were double charged with ComEd, our third electric company, and Sunrun. But after that hump, from the second month and the third month, the bill started coming down. It has significantly come down from ComEd's point of view and if we could go lower, we could save more money. That'd be great. All in all, we're satisfied right now and I would recommend Sunrun. Their sales rep was very professional and patient, and he knew what he was doing. He explained everything. As far as Sunrun was concerned, everything went very smoothly. After the inspections, everything was all good but I had a little bit of hiccup with my PTO but it was on PG&E’s court. I'm really satisfied with my solar. I would have others go solar with Sunrun.

The salesman that came explained the right information to me in the way that I wanted and I could understand at my level. And that confidence really what led me to believe that Sunrun was the right company to do solar with. Getting things set up with them was the coolest thing ever. They upgraded my electrical panel and Sunrun covered it. I couldn't have been happier. Everything was clean and the dudes were cool. They were friendly, and they were smiling and laughing the whole time they were doing the installation. It was raining and they still knocked it out. I was talking to my brother, my mom, and my best friend, and I was looking at their electric bill. They're now all interested in picking up Sunrun with and I know there's a referral program, so I'm trying to make that happen.
I work at Home Depot in the business section and I deal with Sunrun employees every so often. One of the things that I try to let them know is that it's very important to consumers as far as sales goes that they have the ability to be able to lease the equipment at a much lower cost. Now Sunrun is not able to do that in Costco because I talked to the reps in there as well. But they are able to offer that kind of program at Home Depot. So when they approach clients to do this, it will be pretty helpful to them. Nobody wants to drop 60 grand on a solar and make payments. That was their best selling point and that was why I signed up with them.
Other than that, they could improve the help and support they give to customers who are trying to choose an electrical provider that would work with them. Their rep, Bryce, told me one thing and I wanted to start looking into it. But it was a little harder to find. They should have somebody else to help customers like me who are not as savvy with contracts and trying to negotiate these things with the electrical company on buying and selling, having it roll over to the next year, or month to month. If someone didn't totally understand that they can get taken advantage of that and didn't know to look for those things, they could blindly sign up for someone.

I recently purchased a home and had the option of either buying or leasing my solar panel which I originally thought was from Vivint. I moved in at the end of August and was PGE approved 9/17/21. I couldn’t get my solar to work so I called Vivint and that’s when I learned I needed to contact Sunrun. I called and the guy immediately noticed a problem from my app and advised me that he does NOT see any grid lines generating on my app which he then told me that someone would call me back within 3-5 business days. I waited and no return call so I called sunrun again only to find out he booked the appt under his name (whatever that means).
I called again and We finally got a tech come out and was informed that the installers used a generic wire which prob had a little cut sending the power to the ground and in order to rewire with the more durable wires, the job would require 3 man power to rewire. He also mentioned that the wires will need to be ran externally and that the wires will be visible from the outside of my home since the newest house is already built so they can’t rewire from inside the home. One week later and no one has contacted me. One month later after Pge approval and I still have not generated an ounce of energy. I either need someone to come fix this matter immediately and make sure the wires does not show from the outside of the house, or need a full refund or we may just end up in court. This company totally messed up my first home buying experience. P.S. Mad, frustrated and irritated.

Enrollment was fine. It was very smooth. The installation experience was fine, up until we got towards the end and they told me I was up and running. I received two bills from my electric company and they were over $300. Then I'm receiving bills from Sunrun for the monthly fee. I called my representative and I said, "Well, what's going on?" He said he didn't know because he thought I was up and running. He said, "Well, you may need to call someone." I tried to get in contact a couple of times with one frontline representative that I called who said I was up and running.
After that, someone from Sunrun came to my house and he said I wasn't up and running. That's my gripe with Sunrun. I'm not pleased with that at all. I spent more money over the last few months with my electric utility company and then I'm receiving a bill from Sunrun, and I'm not even in operating status. Also, when the person fixed the problem, he just left. He didn't ring the doorbell.
As consumers, we need to be more educated when we have things like this installed and we are clueless about how they operate. We need to be educated more on the system. As a consumer, I wish I would have been better informed by Sunrun on how to know when it's operable and when it's not, and the things I need to look for. They should not just come in, install the system, and say, "Okay. You're good," and then leave.

The installation with Sunrun was great and pretty fast and simple. The crew was great. My only thing is that they haven't even turned on the system. But it's nothing against Sunrun. It’s PG&E. So, I've been paying the loan for a couple months now and my electricity. I just wished they would tell you upfront how long the process for PG&E is. It’s been four months already. I was not expecting this long of a wait for them to turn on the power. The project manager allegedly told me it's the 23rd that it should be up and running but I've been getting that same email for the past two months already.

The whole process of deciding and the installation with Sunrun ran pretty smoothly and professionally. I was looking for clean energy and potential cost savings in the long run. I looked at Sunrun's number of years in business and the warranty process. It took me about two years to decide for solar panel installation and from signing with Sunrun and getting that installed and needing approval and inspections, it took us about less than three months to go live. I should put additional panels because the number of panels that were put in was based off the history of the electrical usage and they didn't consider about the climate change. So, it’s still kinda lacking and not the full benefit yet. It’s kinda break even sometimes. With Sunrun, I can look at the data as well when it's cloudy, whether the panel’s still gonna be able to receive and generate electricity. That's helpful, which is one of the benefits, too, that I got from Sunrun.

We purchased a Sunrun system through Costco and it ran fine for a while. Recently Sunrun took our battery offline and began sending us about $70 per month to make up for it. This is simply ridiculous given the battery is one of the main reasons we decided to go solar. As it stands when the grid goes down so do we. I have no idea how many other Sunrun customers are affected by this but it could be considerable. So far we have heard nothing from Sunrun as to when the battery will be replaced. This is simply unacceptable.

So as for our solar system it is currently working great but after a few months of having them installed we now have hundreds of pigeons living under our panels, if I had been told this was going to be a problem from the beginning I would have had them install the bird prevention netting. After calling Sunrun they told me it's an additional 3 to 5 thousand dollars to get it done after already spending 38 thousand on this system. I am furious of the issues. I now have lots of bird droppings covering the panels, lots of feathers in my yard, feathers clogging up my ac condenser and pigeons making tons of noises all day and night, drain gutters clogging up with feather bird droppings and twigs due to the nesting.
Come on guys do better especially after being approved for way more than the cost of the panels I would have said yes to bird prevention just like I said yes to the maintenance plan you had offered and haven't done any maintenance to them for over a year I already paid someone over 500 to come and clean the bird droppings off the panels and my production went up by 10 kwh a day now they are dirty again and Sunrun will likely give me the run around as they did before. I advise if anyone does the solar panels get the bird prevention!

We got some information from a guy in Costco advertising Sunrun and thought we should have them come out. The guy didn't do a whole lot except explain it to us and give us a brochure. He was good and did his job. Then, we had another person, Gabriel, come out. He went through the whole thing with us. He was very nice and good.
Our solar panels seem to be working good. When they put them up, everything was fine. Our complaint is I talked to so many people on the phone and we had so many problems with people coming out and not doing what they were supposed to do. One technician would come out and say we're up and running. Then, we’d get a call and they'd say that we're not up and running, that they're gonna have to send a coordinating technician. A guy was supposed to turn it on but he couldn't do it because his arm was injured. They shouldn't have sent him out as that was another waste of time for us. They were very good about letting us know we're gonna have a technician come out at such and such time but it was so frustrating if we kept hearing this. That went on for months.
One technician came out and I asked him, “Now, I'm supposed to be able to get this on my phone on an app, so we can see what's going on.” He said, “Oh, I don't do that. We’ll have to send somebody else out to do that.” I said that I will figure it out myself and I did. It was just too many people in the kitchen trying to stir the pot, and nobody got it made. They were all good in what they were supposed to do but how hard can it be for a person to turn the damn switch on? We could see it, but we weren't gonna do it because that wasn't our responsibility. We also wanted to make sure the right switches were being turned in the right places. There was only one lady that I talked to that really helped me a lot. She was able to do a better communication and she was upset too that things were so complicated.
I really think there needs to be a little bit more management control there because it was very irritating. Mostly because it kept us home. We had to be here when we had doctor's appointments. We wanted to accommodate them because we wanted it to get working before summer. We started this in April. So far, I've only received two PG&E bills that reflect that we aren't being charged for the electric.
We also had a big issue in the beginning with paying for it with Sunrun. They took all the money out of the wrong account. It was $16,000 and wasn't authorized to be taken out of our Master Charge. It was supposed to be taken out of our Costco account but we got that straightened out. We had to wait until they put the money back. Then, I had to do it again out of our Costco Visa account. I had to have our account raised, so we had enough credit to do it. I wanted to just write a check, and they said no because they have nowhere for us to send it. It was better to put it on Costco because then we got a credit for rewards so that was fine with us. The reason the money thing got mixed up is because Costco would not give us 16,000 in credit and would only allow us 13,000. They took it all out of Master Charge, instead of part of it out of Master Charge, and the rest out of the Costco Visa. But I would recommend Sunrun.

Stay as far away from this company as possible. If you are going to do solar, get a loan and buy it. Do NOT get into any deals with these people. Worst mistake I ever made. In fact in September of 2020 I used 1946kwh all from PGE before SunRun at a cost of $368. September 2021 I used 1351kwh… 294 from SunRun and 1075 from PG&E. 595 fewer kWh and my total bill… $205 to SunRun and $247 to PG&E for a total of $453.
For the first year with SunRun, each month my power bill was 20%-40% HIGHER for the same kilowatts as the year before. Not only did I save no money at all, but my electric bill for the year increased by $1,500. SunRun promised a system that would generate just under 13k kilowatt-hours for the year. It barely made 9k kilowatt-hours for the year. But SunRun has a guarantee, right? Wrong. When I called them they have refused to do anything to make things right. Check their better business reviews. They are bad and getting worse.

Sunrun was very convincing on the contract. They had all the personnel to do everything, so it was easy to deal with them. But it took at least four months to turn the system on because the city didn’t know how to do the inspection. Then Florida Power & Light kept asking for the same thing and they said there were some internal problems. So the whole process took more than six months overall. Also, Sunrun had more than one person communicating with me, and one person didn't know what the other one was saying, or one person would say, “Well, you have to tell the other one,” but they didn't talk to each other.

Sunrun's advertisements through Costco were really enticing as a Costco member, just with all the savings that came with it. The transition over to solar was very seamless. The person who I worked with was very readily available via phone and email. They got everything set up for installation on my schedule and what worked for me, instead of me needing to work around what I already had planned. It helped with my time. They were very easy to work with. If we use any power over what our designed solar panel system is right now, it doesn't show any hiccups when it needs to now pull power from the grid, which worked out great for me.

In the beginning, our experience was really great. We were working with a gentleman named David and he was super good. He explained everything to us and how it was gonna work. He was the one that set us all up. Even the installation of the panels went great. When the installers came, they were on time and they installed all our panels right. But when they were installing our backup battery, there was a problem. They didn't have the correct wiring. We went solar in July. From July to the present time, we've had the technician come out four times to try to fix some wiring in our backup battery.
The company that Sunrun sends out to fix in our area has only one technician that knows how to work on the wires on the backup battery. This gentleman was super rude. Sunrun should get more technicians. I would not recommend them. It's very frustrating, from the very top of it to the bottom, and how they handled the situation. We contacted the main people and Sunrun. We also spoke to Michael and we sent emails. It was ridiculous because it seems like it's haphazardly run as a business. Now, the electric bill is coming at $400 because they did the wires wrong. Somebody is going to be responsible for that money and it ain't going to be us.

Everything was so easy. The longest wait we had is with the electric company. But everybody from when they first came and did the survey, the saleswoman Barbara, was awesome. All the Sunrun part was perfect. I already referred my dad to get solar because I believe we all need to try to save the environment and did want lower electricity. We'll see how that works. So far, it's not that way.
When the energy company put their meter on and we turned on the solar system, of course, it takes time for it to all download the data. So, the electricity company didn't bill us and we couldn't find a bill for a whole month. The bill ended up being $500. So, I had to go on a payment plan. I just got my first solar bill, which was quoted, and it was right on time. But I called energy and said, "As hot as it is, you mean to tell me that we didn't produce enough kilowatts or whatever you are, so you have to charge me an extra 100?" So, that's 200, which we were already paying 255 a month.
We have a computer and I started unplugging everything that I don't watch. It's just my husband and I. We just unplug everything because that's how the energy gets used. Hopefully, it all even outs. Because if it's gonna be 255, then I'm gonna feel bad that I bought it, even though I really want to help save the environment. Also, they said they would call me in a couple of days. So, when I referred my dad, I get a referral fee and he gets a signing fee. He hasn't received that signing bonus, but I received my reward. When I called, they said, "Oh, they canceled it." I don't know why because he's entitled to that $1,500 signing bonus. So, I'm waiting for somebody to call me back because it has been a week now. Other than that, Sunrun was very professional and on time.

Another company came to the door and they had a very lengthy sales pitch. They gave me some numbers about what they could provide and Sunrun was cheaper by about $1,200 for the same number of panels. The other company's response was to lower their price by $1,800, but remove a panel, as if they were hoping I wasn't going to notice that in the statement. The whole process with Sunrun was very smooth. I never felt like I was out of the loop. It was very, very easy and streamlined. Everything got installed relatively quickly. Once everything was installed, we were waiting on the city to come inspect the connections before we could go live.
Solar is a passive form of income in a way. Sunrun's Costco connection is pretty nice too. In the month of October, we've only produced more than we used twice. So after this season, I need to reevaluate if we need more to make up for what we're doing. I need to look at the charts to see if we're generating more than we're spending on the monthly loan payments.

Sunrun was able to get back to me with my questions usually within the same day or the next day. Of course, with everybody wanting solar, and the whole pandemic happening, things were delayed a little longer than we had anticipated. They had changed our solar plan but forgot to update the design so we had issues going into it. But things were taken care of. I don't understand everything about it yet because there are six months of it where we aren't getting billed. It says we have a credit of 200 and something, and our bill from GMP is $30 to $40 when we got them, so we've only been doing this a couple months. So to be able to say I'm 100% satisfied, so far I am, but I just don't understand the whole end of it.
Everybody has their own wants. You can purchase it yourself or rent it from them. We’re older so we opted to go with, “Okay, let's just sign a lease for 25 years and pay X amount of dollars over the years.” They're responsible for all the equipment, maintaining it, replacing it. If we've got another 20, 30 years tops, to live, it would be very surprising. We may expire before the lease does. Some of my friends’ kids have actually gone and purchased the solar. They’re not paying anybody anything. So that's good for them because they're younger. But we are older, and we’ve got three kids that are hard on all the gaming stuff and stuff for school, and they use a lot of electricity. They're probably going to be here another 10 years. So far, our bill has reduced drastically. And it's still going to be lower once we start paying the monthly payments, but I just don't quite understand the whole how much.
I usually do things for a year to see, and of course, solar, it's not going to be the same year to year. It all depends on what Mother Nature does. You can't say to the solar company, “Oh, but you told me this.” If Mother Nature doesn't give you sun, you don't get this. That's the one thing that some people don't get. We don't have it on our roof. We have it on our land. They did everything. The structure, putting it in, working with GMP and GMP working with them.
And if we had been back where we were, we were only $95 a month before the kids moved in. And I probably never would have gone to solar had it not been for the increase in electricity from the kiddos. But I started looking into solar and Sunrun does seem to be one of the better companies. Vermont has some local companies. But I didn't go with local because they haven't been around as long as Sunrun has, in looking, and I wanted a company that has been through a lot of the stuff and has been doing it for years.
Also, the people need to be patient. It's just that they're behind. It's something that is taking off. And they can't get the people to work. They're not isolated from all of this people not working either. So a big part of that is if people aren't patient, they're not going to be happy with them. But it isn't their fault. And they were very accommodating. They tried to resolve issues as quickly as possible, and they never left me hanging. If I had a question, they got back to me. So far, I'm happy with them. And I got a 25-year contract with them, so I'm hoping it continues that way. I've been giving Chris’ card to everybody because I really like it. There are just things that are preventing them from being able to have this really wonderful experience, unfortunately.
It's a big investment. I look at it like, “Okay. I'm paying $147 a month. But I pay more than that for insurance on my house. So I'm paying that to maintain my solar panels. I have a hailstorm, and I am SOL if I own these panels.” The maintenance is totally paid for. Unless, of course, somebody goes out there and intentionally damages it. We're lucky we have a lot of acres so my kids aren't even near it. The $147 is cheaper than what I would pay for insurance, because I don't have to put it on my homeowner's policy. If I sell my house, it can transfer. They can pull it. I pass away, my kids inherit it. I also checked with the kids before I did it and said, “Hey, you guys are going to be happy with this contract because it can transfer to you.” I like that fact.
So I did look into a lot of different things, and Sunrun has done a good job of thinking of all the different life wishes that people could want. The owning, the renting. You can either opt to have the batteries or not. They let you customize it yourself. And everybody's happy. Kudos to them and all their people. They did a really good job, and the subcontractors were awesome.
Thank you so much for being part of our Sunrun family and helping us create a planet run by the sun!

Sunrun's rep was wonderful. That first day that we were in Costco, we were in there late morning, and he said that someone could come out in a couple of days. And as we were driving home, they called and said they could come that afternoon. Then, the guy came right out on time and what we really liked was after we listened to him, we pretty much felt like we were on board. But we told him that we didn't want high pressure because we needed to think and talk things over. By the time we were finished that evening, we felt confident in it, but he wouldn't do it. He said we should make an appointment. It was a Friday and he said he'd be back Monday and we could tell him our decision then. So, we really appreciated that kind of low-key, non-pressure approach.
The installation took three weeks and they did what they said they were going to do. We had to have a new box put on the side of the house and that was taken care of right away. All of that part of it was great. But afterwards, the equipment sat up there until September before it ever got up and going. The power company came out, did all their inspections right on time, and said everything was fine. But Sunrun said that until PG&E gave them that final okay, they couldn't do anything. And right around the time that was supposed to be the final okay, I got one message saying they had to redo our plans.
So, that took it another week or so. Then finally, we got notice that we could get it started. We were supposed to go out and do something on it, and we had a terrible time with that. But working up to that, everyone was so nice. We called talked to our salesman a couple of times afterwards and he assured us this was the way it worked and the timing was normal.
Another thing was, on our tax information, our address is 2376. But when we moved into the house, our mortgage papers said 2384, which blended in with the neighborhood. And for the first few years there, our payment included our taxes. So, when I retired and we started paying it to get rid of it, I noticed this change on the address. That wasn't a problem but Sunrun changed our address to 2376 at PG&E here in town and our bill isn't coming. We still haven't gotten this month's bill, so we still don't know whether the solar has helped us or not. I finally got through PG&E yesterday and sent them a note saying I've been to the city and the city said that they need to change our address back to 2384. And within a couple hours, I got a note from them saying they'd do it. So, that was frustrating to have all that happening.

We had a 20-year system on the roof owned by Sungevity and when Sunrun had acquired them, we went with them. That was a big mistake, though. Everything was good on the contract side. They came and did the install, but failed to pass final inspection three times. It took them six and a half months to get the plan to operate through PG&E, which they didn't disclose at the time of contract. And it was a nightmare to try to get compensated for not having power on my roof the entire summer, which I lost on.
Sunrun's reps were helpful to the point nothing got done, because no one would own it. And then, when we finally threatened legal action, things started happening. So we had to threaten legal action before they would respond and do something about it. We have multiple people handling it and multiple people dropped. Their excuse was they weren't experienced, they were new, and so on. But I didn't really care if they were new or not. I got a signed contract here on the roof that they haven't turned on in six months. So we got pretty testy. All in all, use anybody but Sunrun.

The reps were very knowledgeable, extremely polite and professional. I wasn't home during the installation but I was told that I would be able to monitor over the phone or online. When I got home, I saw the box that measures the power and it was placed in the middle of my front wall house. It looks funny. It's such an eyesore. I told Sunrun about it and they keep saying, "No, we're going to get to it. We're going to get to it." But it's been going on for six months and it's still there. I cringe every time I see it. I've been walking around my community and I've been looking at the other houses, and no one has anything remotely close to what I have with this giant box in front of my house. But other than the installation, everything was perfect.

I would not recommend this company for Solar Power. I signed a contract in March of 2021 and all of the equipment was installed as of July 2021. Since then, the Company has had no contact with me. I finally got ahold of my Project Manager, which was a call service center in the Philippines. The project Manager told me that my account was in the permitting stages, but could not elaborate any further. I then reached out to PG&E which confirmed that no permits or inspections had been requested for my address. This is not how I was told that the process would work. I’ve yet to receive any estimate on when I should expect my service to be turned on. This company is horrible at follow through and communication.

The setup went well. But getting the system turned on took a ridiculously long time. It took two months after the installation. I wasn't really happy about that. It seemed like Sunrun didn't bother following up with the power company. So there was a hitch there that no one bothered to solve for a long time. I had to get involved to get it fixed and even then, there was a lot of back and forth that took a while in dealing. There was somebody that kept texting me from Sunrun saying that if I had any questions to ask, and I would respond with questions and never get answers, which is weird. From my understanding, they've been hiring a lot of people. They have a lot of new people that don't really know what they're doing, so that was part of the cause of the problem.

Trying to urgently work on a solar panel transfer, but the transfer rep (Santiago **) won't return my call or my emails. I have been trying to contact him for over a week. All calls go straight to voicemail. He made me miss my house closing date. Instead of returning my calls or replying to my email, I got an email "Projected Closing Date Past - Solar Transfer" from him one day before my close date. I asked for a rep to be changed, that is yet to be done. I requested for my case to be escalated, no luck. I asked to speak with a manager, no one will let me. No one follows up as they said they would. They won't give me batteries with the transferred agreement. They won't change the usage percentage, stuck with 62%. They won't allow me to negotiate a 6 year old contract that the sellers signed up for. They want me to be stuck with outdated agreement for the next 14 years.
There are so many great solar companies out there and I won't be able to be free to explore and get great deals if I take on this agreement, it seems that Sunrun is okay with not offering better services and newer and improved systems. Instead they want me to sign the agreement I don't agree with and only then they would assess my usage 12 months after I sign the contract. Then they would have me sign up a second contract for another 20 years (2 contracts) if I want improved usage, additional panels, and a battery. Now talk about a deal! I should be ecstatic. I am still waiting for a phone call, and follow up, and they are waiting for me to sign the agreement blindfolded. I don't want to call anymore because every times I call I am transferred from one person to the next and 2 hours go by before I can talk to someone that is willing to look case or listen to me. I can go on, but I think I said enough.

We were satisfied with the two people that we talked to. But we've had a lot of miscommunication with Sunrun too. The project coordinator was an ignorant and snobby person. It's not our responsibility that it was a default in Sunrun's system when we first started. It was their guys' fault. So they came out and fixed it. But then, the project coordinator wasn't satisfied with it. So he kept calling my mom and telling her, "Oh, you can turn it on yourself." My mom told him, "I don't want to get electrocuted. Everything has gone tremendously well. Initially, we had an issue with how many panels I had or where they were located on the roof. The initial system wasn't producing the amount of energy we thought it would. But Sunrun corrected that and added 10 panels to another portion of the roof. Since then, things have been fantastic. Today, I got my monthly energy bill, and for the seventh straight month, it was $13.21, which is basically just the hookup charge to the grid, which means I'm not paying for electricity anymore. Every now and then, the website will have a hiccup or so but those things correct themselves fairly quickly and the website works great. I tend to look at it every day to see what's going on because it still amazes me that I'm getting free electricity.

Sunrun did a 50% install as far as energy consumption. Like everybody else, I always have the illusion that I could get the most. More would be better, but they looked at cost per usage ratio versus just doing a higher percentage. That was a little different than my expectations from the beginning. The other thing was, once it was installed, I got a lot of calls, following up to see how my satisfaction was. It takes a bit to cycle through and see the actual benefits of it, So that took a bit to kick in and for me to be able to say, “Okay, I can see that it is saving me money.” It takes more or less two months. But everything else is as they said, so it's good.

Sunrun came and gave the spiel, and I said I would do it. I had to fill out papers for eligibility. So, they had to make sure that my house was good, the southern exposure was okay, and I had enough roof space. The salesman was a bit of a salesman. But the actual people that dealt with me about the plans and the installation, everything was seamless. They were very responsive to my questions, and when I would get a little nervous about something, they explained everything to me. And they were very helpful. Sunrun based the number of panels on how much electric I used during the previous year. I have a big pool and air conditioning so I use a lot of electricity during the year. In the summer months, that is what runs my bill up. But because I have 35 panels, they tell me I would have 100% coverage eventually.
I shared Sunrun with somebody already and she got the solar panels too. Because I told her, that because I'm leasing them, I didn't have to pay outright. They guaranteed the roof if something should happen to the panels. I got a battery backup too. So, if the power grid went down, I would still have some power for a while. I would still have power to my kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms. It wouldn't run the air conditioning or the pool electricity, obviously, but at least my refrigerator won't go down and lose all my food. And it has kicked in a couple of times when there's a storm, fortunately, not for a very long time. The battery lasts 16 hours. But it recharges, so overnight, it would run on battery then in the morning when the sun comes back out, it recharges itself. So I would have the battery again during the day.

The project manager is MIA. For our family Sunrun was excellent up until the point of installation then the lack of follow up with the system and any problems we may have been experiencing has me feeling we have been ghosted. The process with Sunrun seemed to go fine once they did a site visit and set the system up. When they came to do it, they were here all day. We went active in April and we’re happy with it. We haven't paid PG&E since we went live. We've just had to pay the lease payment. So far, it's worked well. The only thing I wasn’t very happy about was when we had an incident where the power went off. It wasn't out for very long but we paid extra to have the battery backup and it did not kick in. I expected it to come on right away. When I called the company, I was a little put out that their response was that nothing showed up on the computer. I asked if they would want to come out and check it, and they said that they only do that if it shows up on the computer. So as far as they were concerned, nothing happened.
I spent a lot of time on the phone with the guy from Colorado and I let them know that selling something over the phone was not the best way. My husband and I are both old and everything was done over the phone. It would have been so much easier for us if they had come to the house and we could have seen everything laid out instead of looking at it on a screen and responding to everything. Other than that, everything has been good.

Rick, the Sunrun sales rep, kept me up to speed on everything. It was fairly quick to get the assessment to make sure we could get all the panels on the roof. We got the installation scheduled and that was all smooth. There was a glitch in the installation that added a week. The techs had to come back and rewire some stuff. Then it took six weeks for PG&E to authorize the system to be turned on. Sunrun left it active so it powered the house even though PG&E didn't give us any credit for the power we sell.
Post-installation from Sunrun, I have two thoughts. One is they sent me an email saying they changed the way the battery feeds back into the grid and it wasn't clear why they were doing that or if they were going to change it back. Plus, the app isn't clear and it's almost nigh on useless. So I rely on watching the electric meter most of the time. When you look at other monitoring systems like Tesla's, it’s so much simpler. That way, I could tell if there was a problem with the solar system or if it ran into a glitch or it wasn’t producing like it was. I'd love to see that.
Also, the way Sunrun's bills operate, there's absolutely no way I can figure out whether we're saving or not. I watch the meter and we're surplus about 20 kilowatt hours a day. There's no way for me to understand their bills even though Sunrun sent me a long explanation. The bill is just unbelievable. I'll know next April when they have a yearly report if I saved or didn’t. Other than that, Sunrun has done a terrific job. I even wanted to upgrade the panels to LG, and they did a good job with that. So I'm very pleased. I've recommended Sunrun to a number of people, and a couple have actually signed the contract, including my nephew.

The meter thing went out one time and they came to fix it. I thought the solar was going to take care of the bill a little bit lower that what I've been getting, but I'm still trying to figure it out. Sunrun put enough panels and in the first two months, I got a bill for $12 from SMUD. I thought it was gonna go down. But then after that, I’ve been getting one for 139. It was a little lower than what I was paying, but between that and the 113 that I pay for the panel, I'm still paying over $200 or 250 so I'm not satisfied with it.
My husband is the one that dealt with them. He just passed away Aug 20th, so I'm trying to see if I could do it on my own to make the decision if I'm going to keep it or not because I don't know if that's the way it's supposed to produce where the bill is still high. The meter outside didn’t have numbers. It wasn’t running good and they finally figured it out in the office. It took them three weeks to come over and check it, so all that time, we were not producing, and we never got reimbursed for that.

All my questions were answered going through everything that I needed throughout to set up everything. However, it was held up for two months because of the village trying to set a date for them to come out and inspect after they installed the solar panels and the battery. There was also a delay in getting the battery. It was shipped somewhere else so they had to get it shipped to them.
It’s saving me some money just looking at my ComEd bill. I'm just kind of irritated at the fact that sometimes, my bill is $20, sometimes my bill is $50 as far as ComEd's side, because I figure the solar panels should be absorbing some more of that. It was just covering 91%. I wish that my ComEd bill was a little bit less, especially going into the fall and winter months, it's gonna start going up. I thought solar was the way to go a long time ago. Other companies would tell older people and retirees that they could buy it for $25,000, and it'll amortize itself over time. However, nobody's going to put $25,000 and not know what its longevity would be. Then the companies would say that people could write it off over 20 years or 25. But then a person would never know if he would live that long. With Sunrun, there’s no money down. I didn’t pay for a permit and I didn’t pay for the guy to come out and put a new meter in, unless they quoted up on it on the bill. But the other thing is, I don’t own them. I’m just leasing them.
Making the sale was all over the phone and I was with the salesperson for two hours because I asked a lot of questions. She had the answers and we dealt together for a little while. Then all of a sudden, this other lady interjected that got the techie guys to come in and put the stuff on the roof. There were six of them. One was an electrician, one was inside the hot attic, and the boss guy. They knew their job and when they finished everything, we even had a beer together.
Then the first sales lady called and asked me how everything was going. I told her that it's all installed and I'm waiting to turn it on. She said that I could turn it on and she would come and see me as she has a present or prize for me. I told her before that I have a mouth in this neighborhood and if I like the product, she would sell other things and if I don’t like it, she won't do those, and I'll tell everybody the pitfalls too. Well, I liked it and she said she’d bring me a yard sign and a couple of other little flyers to help me. But it never came, she never called and I didn’t like that. However, it’s installed and the salespeople are gone. I don’t hear from them and expect to anymore, other than this lady that made the commitment to come and see it.
I live in Florida and I have sunshine all the time, so solar is good to me. It’s on my house, and my neighbors can’t even see it. They don’t even know I have it, except I told them. Then they all wanted me to follow up once I had it for three months. I was trying to contact Sunrun because there was no follow up. The other thing is that I had to tell to the people everything that was in the document, which was fairly lengthy, from cover to cover, saying that if they sell their house, Sunrun will send a person out to try and convince the new buyer to go with the solar, and in most cases, they do, because it's the savings.
However, I haven't noticed the savings in the few months that I've gotten bills. But if I add my Duke Electric, and my 111 per month lease, it's the same as what I was paying. Sunrun sent me what I spent in 2020, and it was $183 a month on average. Well, 111 is going to be fixed, so that’s $70 difference. If Duke had been 70 or below, I'd be really happy. But Duke has been 106, 91. They’ve never been to that figure that added to the 111 that I paid just because of the fact that I’m leasing this thing.
If I saved $5, I can say to the people that I'm saving money every month by having it there. But I can't say that, and I won't mislead my neighbors, and they really wanted to know. They didn't come over and asked if I'm saving money, but the fact is that I didn’t go over and sit on their deck as I did last time when I was first doing it to tell them, “This is not only an environmental thing where you're not using the electricity that is needed. You can use other things.” But my daughter up north in Boston who's a lawyer was saying that I’m doing the right thing by going solar, and that’s what I think I should do. I hope maybe someday, I’ll see some savings. But if I don’t, I really won’t care because it’s not costing me $200 extra a month, it's just that it’s still costing over that 70 that was the difference.
Thanks for your review, James. We are very happy to have you as part of the Sunrun family!

I am happy with my system but the install was a nightmare. I signed my contract on 9/30 and my system wasn't live until the middle of April. The plans were drawn incorrectly, so they had to be resubmitted. By the time they were accepted, Tesla batteries were out of stock. Once the system was completed, the PG&E submission wasn't completed. I was told that it was delayed 4-6 weeks because of the pandemic. When I demanded to speak with a supervisor, they admitted that it hadn't been submitted until that day.

Time between signed contract and installation was very short. Installers were able complete installation in 1 day. You told me I needed to wait so it took two weeks for a technician to come out, look and find out that there was a problem with the Gateway to the battery that wasn't working. Second disappointment is there is no parts on the island for the repair. It took over two months to get it up and running. Meantime I'm paying for nothing. Warranty should be extended cuz it wasn't working between that time. Oh yes it I was told that it was in operation but it wasn't to his fullest potential. If we call you or tell you that there's something wrong with our system should have somebody come out look sooner than later. The best of my knowledge the system is running good now. My wife and I decided we could save some money. It would not cost us anything upfront. Everything was great until this dollar-a-month thing. Sunrun offered me $1 a month for the first six months if I signed up for automatic payment. Automatic payment is easy for me but the bad news is I never got it. They said they didn't say that. I said, "Well, I got your stuff right here," and I sent it to them. But I still haven't gotten it. They said, "Well, if you signed up with Home Depot and had Home Depot, you would have got it." I said, "Well, wait a minute. If you're offering me $1 a month for the first six months -- that's almost $1,000 -- why would I say, 'Okay, come to my house.' Why wouldn't I go to Home Depot?" And they couldn't answer me.
They gave me a number which got lost in a shuffle, because I called back a couple of weeks later and I said, "I haven't heard anything from you people. What's going on?" And they gave me another number. Now, this girl is working with me. The first time I called, I got the runaround. I went to everybody and their brother and nobody ever helped me. The second time I called, I got help. Before I signed up, everything was a big deal. They were in touch with me. When I got the first bill, I called right away. The salesperson I called said he can't help, that it's a billing problem. I said, "Well, you sold me this stupid thing. You charged me $136. Where's the $1?" "Well, we don't do that." I said, "I got it right here in my notes in the comparison with the other three companies."
I was on vacation last week and some lady called me a couple of weeks ago. She was very helpful and said she would do an investigation. But it has been three months now. I called her and she told me that the sales department or the consumer department would take care of it once they see that I had signed up for the automatic payments. But nothing. All during this time, it should cost me $1 a month. I would be able to get my ducks in a row by the time the six months came and this bill actually was what our bill would be. And they would have to work out their bugs too. My wife's concerned because she said maybe our panels aren't working, because that's what happened to her girlfriend.
I selected a system that would cover all of our electrical usage. But that hasn't worked out too good either because this last month was $140 for the Eversource. We ordered enough to cover our usage and 10% more. And our payment was $136 a month. It was a little more because we got more panels. Now, we got 28 panels on our roof. The first bill was $9. The second bill was $81, which wasn't bad. Now, it's 141, the rep said last month. It rained a lot last month, plus it was hot." So, we had our air conditioner on all the time. People need to have everything in writing with them like any other company. This was my oversight for signing that thing without making sure that it was right.
Thanks for letting us know, Kurt. We definitely don't want you to miss out on your promotion. We will have a representative send you a private message. Thank you for your communication.

Here is a fantastic question???? As in the so “Contract” SUNRUN is to be monitoring for failure of the system?? Why did I catch this on my utility bill and find your equipment failure first without any contact from the company?? Why was I continuously billed and auto ach payments removed from my checking account when the system was down and after sunrun was notified of failed equipment???? I STILL PAY???? But you Do not monitor as in statement in contract!!! But I still pay???…every month???? Even though sunrun clearly knows it's down as they can see it!!!! O...Wait…I forgot it still says “no grid”…You can't see it because your equipment is broken and offline! O…Wait….I forgot about the super support technician that never came back! O…. Wait still can’t see it on your end with all of that monitoring in the contract that is suppose to take place but lo and behold I still pay every month!
I would like to be provided the power production on the dates from the day my system went down to the day the final repair was completed for the last 5 years. From the exact date every year it went down to the exact date it came up every year. I would like a real calculation average over the exact time period Since day one the system was installed. At that point I will average kilowatt hours I have lost during these months costing me extremely high true a bill
The performance guarantee is a joke considering the system is clearly 100% not monitored as was agreed in a signed contract and the performance of the system is dependent on it being operational 12 months of the year. When your system is down in the middle of the summer months at 100° weather unfortunately your air conditioner runs 24 hours a day you depend on your solar system to offset your utility bill hence the one and only reason you purchase or even consider a solar system.
The poor response time from Sunrun as a company in whole is a complete joke. This company is supposed to be the largest company in the country however a service call two weeks later is a joke. A service tech who diagnoses your problem mind you is a SERVICE Technician on your property to make the repair and diagnoses your problem clearly, states to you I will be back with the part to fix it, and flat out never shows up is a joke. This technician should be fired and so should dispatcher as they both knew he was headed to his next service call. Clearly He let his dispatch know he needed to go get a part and it’s obvious they sent him on his next call.
These are the months my solar system produces the most power I would expect all of these bills from these dates for reimbursement. NOT This “performance guarantee” As Sunrun Was not monitoring my system and holding up their end of the signed contract I’m not going to accept pennies on their “performance guarantee”. The only performance I can guarantee here is the performance of this company is the “worst in the industry”. I would like every bit of these words public these are my own words from my own mouth and I plan on every bit of this public is there no secret and they should not be private messaged.
Company response 9/17/21 "Since your system was activated on 10/9/2015, there have been 2 system failures:1st failure: 10/9/2019 - 11/6/2019
2nd failure: 5/2/2021 - 7/12/2021
Since your system was activated (10/9/2015) through today, you're contracted to produce is 47,240kWh. The system has produced 46,271 kWh (9/17/21), which is 97.9% of contract level. It's unfortunate the second system failure took a bit of time to fix (and that you notified us), but the Performance Guarantee pays you back for that lost production. I see your system is producing. If you have an error message on your inverter, take a picture and email it to Customerreply@sunrun.com so our service department can take a look, but I'm not seeing any issues with your system at this point. You may also login to My.Sunrun.com to check your system's production." Your response 9/18/21.
As I stated in my previous Message I would like my power production history on the dates:5/2/2016 through 7/12/2016
5/2/2017 through 7/12/2017
5/2/2018 through 7/12/2018
5/2/2019 through 7/12/2019

However After the MAGIC CAULKING FAIRY LEFT I had no more roof leak???? What product was used on my property?? What brand? What manufacturer? What color? What is the warranty? Is it silicone rubber? Is it Vulcom? Is it $2 Henry's roof patch from Home Depot??? I still have a broken crawl hole in my hallway thank you Sunrun.
The ONLY credit given here is the installers (SUBCONTRACTORS) were very polite and very professional other than they broke the crawl hole and never admitted it and left. I want every bit of this review made public these are my own Honest words and true review of this company there should be nothing sent in private I shall take screenshots and start a new thread. 9-18-21 Still waiting on company response. (Go Ahead and see the attached power consumption from the utility screenshots! Wait the "performance guarantee" only pays my monthly $127 per mo fee That I'm still being auto debited. FYI NOT the Power production I lost in the predominant months of the year)
Original Review: I want to start with you will see the generic response from the company on this review as you see on EVERY single bad review they receive. "Hello Mike, we are sorry to hear about your experience. This is not the Sunrun norm and would like to change your experience. We will have a representative send you a private message. Thank you for your communication." I'm sure you will see that after my HONEST review of this poor company. I will start with the orignial install on time back 5 yrs ago. During this install the install crew broke corner off of my attic access hole in the center of my hallway and never said a word about it. Still to this day has never been repaired or replaced. At the time of the original install the men were professional in my home. In and out of the home and in and out of the attic other than breaking the crawlhole and leaving it still to this day.
The entire house was painted inside and out that year prior to the install. First rain I had leak in my roof and in my hallway in turn Stain up ceiling. I called out the company. They sent a technician. He went up on my roof with some caulking and poked around. He came down and stated "I didn't see anything at all." Magically my roof leak from that day has stopped and never leaked again. Mind you my home's value and every home in my area is valued at over $1m. My roof was never even walked on until Sunrun walked on it from the day my home was built and the tile was installed. However a magic leak appeared after they were on my roof installing equipment, then the magic caulking fairy shows up and I havent had a leak in 4 years now?? What was done wrong to begin with cauising the leak??? Caulking is a temporary fix! This was Obviously a bandaid repair and found by the install crew and fixed with caulking.
I've repainted the ceiling in my hallway on my own time as SUNRUN never once stepped up and said the leak was caused by them nor did they fix a leak. They stated "I DIDNT SEE ANYTHING" however he took his caulking up with him vs any other contractor in the face of the planet would go up on your roof and make an assesment and come down and inform the property owner of his findings prior to comencing ANY WORK on his property without authorization from the property owner of products to used. This man went up on the roof for all I know with some Door/window caulking and caulked up their mistakes he obviously found. 2nd issue: System down meter failer. 3rd issue: Meter failer.
4th issue: We live in the Valley/Northern California. Our electric utility charges $.49 Kw. My contract with SUNRUN is $.19 kw. Sunrun is "Sapost" to monitor for trouble. After getting a electric bill a Noticing my "True Up' jumped up to over $1000. I logged into app and seen no power. I went outside and seen Trouble light flashing and says"NO GRID". I call for service 2+weeks for a tech. Tech shows up. "Oh bad meter. Let me change that." Replaces meter---No change "NO GRID". Tech goes to my electric panel and flips the breaker. Instantly Breaker starts to ARC and Short out! "Oh man this breaker is bad. I don't have one on my truck sir but I will be right back to replace it. You don't need to be here. I'll just put it in and go."
A week later I happen to be walking by the inverter on wall and glanced up to see the yellow light (trouble) flashing and it say "NO GRID". I walk out front and same breaker. SUNRUN NEVER CAME BACK. I instantly call and of course on hold for 40 minutes prior to getting a live customer service rep on the line. They are going to send out a tech 2+ WEEKS again. We live in the valley. The tempature here from mid June to mid Sept is in the 100's. My utility bills prior to getting the POOR COMPANY ON MY PROPERTY were roughly $1700 per mo June-Sept buying power from the local utility PG&E @$.49 pr Kw.
Well now that I have had no solar during these Months! I'm stuck paying the local utility. This is a $14 circut breaker that I had instock 15 feet from this man on my service van as I am a contractor HOWEVER I DO NOT OWN THE EQUIPMENT AND THE CIRCUT BREAKER IS OWNED BY SUNRUN. It's in my contract. I am not allowed to touch or modify anything owned by Sunrun. I could have simply given the service tech on site the right breaker and now saved me $1000-1500 vs eat a $14 breaker!!!! I should have never even called and just fixed it myself!!!!
I cant wait for Jeff Bezos to decide to step up for all of the hardworking people that have been and are getting walked all over by everyone trying to jump on the solar train and open a solar company to sell a solar system for $20000. Once the "Smile Solar Company By Amazon" opens as I'm sure it will this joke of a company will be out of business from all of the upcoming class action lawsuits. Jeff Bezos can open the "smile solar company" and make $.0001 per kw profit and not give 2 cents about it. As long as it's profitable then so be it. He will give real employee benefits. He will give benefits to the installing contractors vs using "SUBCONTRACTORS". The Service Techs will actually show up. Customer service will answer the phone. Customer service returns calls. Hey you actually might even have a service tech working for the "LARGEST SOLAR COMPANY IN THE US" show up in a van that actually has the name of the company on it!
Oh wait. Did I forget to mention this entire time my solar system was down and not producing 1 penny of power? Sunrun continued to remove money from my checking account every month!!!! Feel free to see the response next. I'm sure it will be just like all the rest. "Hello Mike, we are sorry to hear about your experience. We contacted them to tell them because obviously they weren't monitoring the failures. We went on vacation, came back and the company never responded. Now a second inverter failed 2 weeks ago. Same thing. We had to notify them and we have heard nothing from them. I think we need to stop paying them in order to get our equipment serviced and repaired.

I'm very satisfied with Sunrun. I love the idea of the battery backup too. The sales guy was good at first. I thought I would get some follow back up with him, but I never did. And I've called several times. Because now that I've got the system up, he was going to help me out and guide me in on how to set up things to best utilize my energy without utilizing it so I can optimize the off-hours, the peak hours, and all that good stuff, so we wanna send it back to the system and run off of our battery during the times that make sense. And I never got followed up with that. I just want a bit more follow-up on the salesman point of view. I'll request that when I'm ready. Other than that, the installation crew worked together seamlessly and did a wonderful job.

Sunrun explained the process to me really well, and it was good. They configured the panels for me just to offset whatever I was using. I can add a few more if I need to, and I may do that, but it was based on their recommendation. I have a lower bill cost. I get six months at $1 and a $300 gift card. It was awesome. Looking at PG&E, so far, I owe nothing. So I made it through the summer, and AC and everything without doing it, so it's gonna work out well for me. No surprises, and everything has been working perfectly.

A representative at Home Depot guided me towards Sunrun. She came off as quite knowledgeable and the same can be said about the agent who came to our house. He walked me through the process. We had nine panels installed to keep everything almost uniform. The installation took months. That time should be shortened. There were three steps to the installation process. The first was having a contractor put on a metal roof, which was my choice. The second was having the electrical company do the electrical part then having the actual panels installed. Other than the installation taking a while, I enjoyed the experience and I’m satisfied with Sunrun's product. The electrical bill went down to 9 bucks a month as opposed to what we used to pay which was close to 70 bucks a month.

Let me start by saying the house was bought in 2019 with leased solar panels and we assumed the lease. I had a house fire on August 28, 2021. I called Sunrun on August 30, 2021 to let them know my panels are damaged and need to be removed for construction. I was told it could take up to 45 days to get them removed. Meanwhile my family is living in a hotel and construction can't start until they are removed. I was sent a ridiculous contract stating I had to store the panels and have them reinstalled within 60 days. I told them over and over that my house is a total loss and the panels and electric box and burnt. I asked to talk with a Manager and was told I couldn't but one could call me back. I have yet to recieve a phone call and it's now Sept 6th. So now my house construction can't start and my family is living in a hotel. I pay my bill every month. Why don't they take care of their customers.

The truth is that SunRun field services is overwhelmed supporting all the failed systems. It takes weeks to schedule a dispatch and the equipment suppliers are not providing replacement equipment in a timely manner. The help desk agents are polite and professional but were never able to get through to the case manager or field services. The case manager and supervisor did not return calls or e-mail that was extremely perplexing and increased frustration. Look carefully at your solar performance guarantee, mine is written for 85% of what the system actually produces, so it can be down 1 in every 7 years before a payment from SunRun.
Original Review: Sept. 4, 2021
Sunrun is wonderful, until the equipment breaks. If you don't find the failed hardware, don't expect Sunrun to catch it through monitoring as advertised. I've been on a Sunrun Solar lease since 2014 and the inverters have failed twice. The summer of 2019, one inverter failed, I called it in, and it took Sunrun 2.5 months to repair. June 23rd 2021, the same inverter failed, it took ~2 weeks to finally schedule a dispatch and 3 weeks for an available dispatch date on case **. The technicians called in the RMA, and to now I'm still waiting for the final repair. During this time the 2nd inverter failed on 8/26, I had to call it in, and I'm still waiting for dispatch to call to schedule a visit.
The system is now 100% down with my PG&E true-up date scheduled for September. I tried to contact the case manager through the help desk and they weren't able to get through to the case manager or dispatch desk. The helpdesk promised to escalate the issue. I was told they have 7 days to return a call. I don't think I saw that statement in the welcoming package. I tried to reach out to the case manager and her supervisor through e-mail, and did not receive a response. I'm extremely disappointed in the level of support, and I'll update this review when the issue is finally resolved.

But I cannot recommend that person who first came to anybody. After Sunrun finished everything the way that rep said, he didn't contact us anymore. We just tried to contact him because he told us that we have to set up the app on the phone. I called him a couple of times but he never came. He didn't answer the phone and didn't get back to us, even by text messenger. I need an account where I could take the take every month where the money should come out. I referred him to my friend and that was when the thing started going in the wrong direction. So far, going solar has worked out, except for some time about two months ago. We got a call from somebody at Sunrun that said they needed to come out and check the system. They did and it turns out that the battery backup we've been paying for all along is not working correctly and they need to replace some component. But we still have not seen or heard of a replacement. I placed a call to Sunrun last week and I got put in one of those callback queues. By the time they called back, I was off on another project and I forgot to answer the call so I have to call them back at some point to see what's going on. One of the improvements they could make is to communicate a little bit better about what's going on when components like this go wrong. But other than that, everything has been fine. Given that we didn't have a $600 July electric bill, we're fantastic.

The installation took longer than I hoped. I signed the contract in November and it wasn't installed and live until April the following year. Sunrun's service is spotty at times, but the product itself is good. Shortly after I had it installed, the system is monitored, and I got an email saying there was something wrong with it and they would send somebody out to look at it. They gave me a date and a time, but nobody contacted me after that. I stayed home so I could be there for the technician but I never saw him. I assumed they just didn't show up. And then, when I emailed customer service back about it, nobody responded for two weeks. So, I followed up again. Three days later, they said that somebody was there and didn't find any problems. They never explained why they thought there was an issue to begin with. That wasn't handled very well.
They need to improve their communication on customer service. It would also be helpful if they need to send somebody out to coordinate with the homeowner what a good day and time is for that instead of just saying, "We're going to be there this day or this time," and that's it. Or if the homeowner doesn't need to be there, they should specify that.

I talked to Sunrun’s representative, Tony. He explained to me their part of the program and went through my qualifications. Most of the process, because of COVID, was done remotely on the phone. Where we are, we've had power outages because of wildfires in the area and I wanted to have solar without the battery backup. So, there was a lot of paperwork to go through to see if I qualified. And I did. They sent out their representative who did a survey, measured the house, had a drone fly over the house. They then came up with their proposal. And it was straightforward in what they were doing.
They had to explain to me how their purchase agreement worked and the fact that in this program I wouldn't buy the panels, I would be into a contract with Sunrun, and how that worked. It was complicated, but the rep walked me through the whole thing. And we read the whole thing together. Other than the delays, which were caused by getting permits from getting the program approved by PG&E and the county, everything they said they would do, they did it when they said they would do it.
The installation team was outstanding. And they had the whole thing put together. There was a shipping delay on the panels themselves. So, rather than doing it one day, they came out on a Monday and then finished it on the following Saturday. It was a surprise to them. They had their installation crew here, and they waited and waited then found out that the panels were stuck on a container. But they said they would be back on Saturday at 9 o'clock. They were there at 9 o'clock and done at 11:00. We just had to wait a month and a half for PG&E to come out and approve the whole thing. Once they did, it has been working since April 26th.
Tesla has an app that shows my current usage. Since April 26, I've been taking power off the grid for an hour or two total in the entire six months. But right now, with this time of day, the panels will produce more power than my house is using, and the batteries are recharging by noon. The batteries will be fully recharged. And the excess panels will be go back on the grid. So, my electric bill has been nothing. Just the service charge has been $5 a month.

I was worried about what my Sunrun system was going to look like. The system is on the house and not like through the house. So, I was worried about the conduit and whether they’d do a good job of trying to make it look neat and I could still have access. I'm residing my house, and so I didn't want much of the conduit running on the clapboards. They did a good job of doing that. I was pleased.
My neighbor who had the system installed is not having a good experience with Sunrun at all. She had a battery installed and it hasn't run since day one. It's been six months and they still haven't fixed it. She had a third-party do the installation. It was a Sunrun team that did mine, and I had a lot better experience than she did. I did have a complaint that I sent to Sunrun. When the power goes out here if there's a storm, the array stops producing power. I have to go back to my generator, and I don't like that. I'm an engineer. I understand that you don't want power going to the grid when the power is out because it can be dangerous. But still, it seems to me they could design a system so that when the power does go out, at least I'll have backup for some systems. It won't power the whole house.

Sunrun's sales rep was professional and informative. His communication was very impressive to me. It was a very smooth transition. We had a little hiccup with the installation, which I was concerned about. But the installers didn't take my concerns into consideration while they were putting the panels up there. It was getting ready to be rainy season, and it was raining that day. They opened up the roof and left for the afternoon, but they didn't cover the hole that was in a roof.
So, I called someone from Sunrun and let them know. Took pictures, sent to them and said, "This is unsatisfactory to leave the hole open through my attic, and it's sprinkling." We didn't know how much rain would fall that day, so I didn't want to take the chance. The first person I spoke with said, "Well, if it rains, it's not going to damage anything." I said, "Well, that's your thinking. I'm just concerned about later on, having mold growing in my attic." But it wasn't anything that prevented us from doing what we needed to do on a daily basis.

Sunrun did good work and they got everything controlled and were able to get everything going. And the guys that followed up helped out, got things cleared up and got everything running. It's just the overall concept is not clear yet in my mind as to if it's even a good process, or if it's just a breakeven process, or if it will actually come out as an advantage.
Sunrun was one of the preferred vendors to install, which was good. In the future, electric rates will probably go up steadily. So, it locks me in at a fixed rate for that period of time. But as a consumer, I still have to buy the equipment upfront. I called the mortgage company, but the finance company that finances all that, I’m still paying money. So, in a sense, I could pay it forward for the savings in the future or I pay it as I go along. But in reality, to the homeowner, I don't know if I’m really saving money. I’m just replacing the electric bill to pay for the equipment service, pay on high.
So, from a short term, it's not a benefit to the consumer. For the mid to long term, it would most likely be because of the energy cost going up. Eventually, the equipment has to be replaced, so I have to pay for it all over again. But in my mind, I have the funds to pay for it. So, I assume just pay for it upfront. Help this energy crisis that people talk about, that it's there and it's not there.
It's good that utility companies give that incentive, but it actually gets paid back. To me, the real beneficiary of it is the equipment suppliers. If you install the equipment yourself, that's probably a good deal. But the average consumer cannot. He's got to hire someone to go on the roof and put it all in. So, they're going to charge. Contractors charge whatever the going rate is and they're the beneficiaries of that tax reduction or the rebate that the consumer gets for that. That's why the consumer is caught in the middle. They're just trying to help the energy situation and that's all.
We had a power outage three months ago. The transformers went down for four or five hours, but my backup battery only lasted a couple of hours. I had lights on or TV going on. After a while, it just shut off until the morning solar panels went back on. When the grid came back on, some transformer needed repair, then the power came back. It tells me, "Is the battery helping anybody or is it just another capital expense in the whole thing?” Which then, if eliminated, then that cost of the panel will be 20,000 instead of being 30,000, which makes it maybe the payback is quicker. The battery probably helps because it regulates storage, and then it goes back to the grid and your credit is good. In the long run, the credits are just going to be even. I don't think we're going to get a huge benefit on getting money back or a reduction, even though we've put more kilowatts back into the grid. So, it's a wash.
If you do this financially, a month to month, year to year, you probably won't do it. If the regulators like the government force the builders to install the system in a house, then it just becomes a part of construction of the house and it helps utilities not spike in use of power which this free solar stuff that's out here. It's not just gonna activate these solar panels and give you power. We're still paying for the electricity, whether we're paying for the mortgage or the finance, the equipment and the installation. So, as a consumer, we're just a breakeven. But for the overall environment, utilities and burning less oil or having this peak demand situation, the battery helps the peak demand because you can store it and dump it back into the system.
I can't get data until maybe after a few years after I see what it's really doing. But I know from a daily basis, it looks like our panels are creating enough where we're getting a credit after using it for the air conditioning and the daily house utilities that we did. It's showing that we're getting a bit of extra kilowatt hours after using it for the air conditioning. But our area is not a high AC using area, except during two, three months during the summer. And even then, it's only during the hot afternoon. It cools off in the evening and goes away. But I know it's always geographic-specific. It's different in different areas. But the software that's applied to that Sunrun, I wish it was a bit more informative as to what it's actually doing on a 24-hour basis.
Because right now, it looks like it only works from midnight until 4:00 or 5:00 when it dumps the battery into the grid. But it doesn't give me any data between 5:00 to midnight. I'm still getting power in using the panels. I know that it's still sunny until 7:00. So, I got another two hours with the sun that is not recording. It's saying that all my solar panel's going 100% to the grid, and then I'm using electricity from San Diego Gas, so many kilowatts for the day, and then it gives me the net difference.
Two separate books are being kept. One for the kilowatts that come into our house, and then the amount of solar kw that is pushed back into the grid. And then, in our solar panel, it's pushing so much kilowatts back into the grid and I don't see the software showing what that really is. So, come next April, even though the utility company is not charging me, but they said that first month, I have a $168 balance due. But every month, it's $10. That's some kind of service fee just to keep the account open.
So, I owe maybe up to 300. But at the end of the day, even though it says I got a credit of 3,000 kilowatts now and it slowly goes up maybe 5 or 10 by the end of the year, I didn't know how much they will give us credit back whether or not still over 300 or whether I'll have enough credits to offset that. I end up with a positive, will I get any cash back from the electric company? The software doesn't say it and I can't understand it. So, do something on that software. There should be more clarification. I'll know when April comes if I have to pay a bill and I'm gonna say, "Wasn't worth it at all." Because even though it looks like I’m making solar, I’m not getting anything back.

We purchased solar from Sunrun 8/2019. Had the panels installed same month. Installers broke roof tiles & left many loose. Contacted Sunrun, was passed from one rep to another several times. Finally gave us installation company, Complete Solar. Called, they sent reps several times to take pictures. They agreed on all the damage. As with Sunrun our case was given to different reps. Roofers were sent to do repairs, they would repair a section & break or leave more loose tiles in another. Another roofing company was sent, same repairs. These roofing companies never had business cards and Complete Solar never would give us the names of the roofing companies.
The breaker box was never upgraded & it started to have burnt marks. Some of our indoor lights were starting to flicker. We informed Complete Solar, they sent several electricians & they all stated it needed to be changed, it was overloaded. We were even in contact with Complete Solars owner, he promised everything would be handled. At the end he stopped answering emails, texts & phone calls. We contacted Sunrun again, a field operation rep was very helpful, he contacted someone higher. This person visited our home, inspected everything. Started having repairs done, began with the breaker box..because it was very dangerous. He got pulled off our case, we assume because he spent too much money so far. Our case has been transferred to someone else & on his email it's already bad for us again. This is already 2 years. I recommend not using Sunrun. Other neighbors purchased from other companies, no problems.

Sunrun was extremely responsive when trying to get me to buy, they were all over me in answering questions and checking back in. As soon as payment was processed I had nothing but issues, 2 years in and I still have nothing but issues with this incompetent company. 1) Had them inspect roof to confirm it was fine, had them come 2 more times to triple confirm roof was fine to which they insisted it was (1 year later leaks coming in through roof where panels were installed but not where panels were not installed).
2) They took months to respond to emails about having to upgrade my main breaker panel in order to get the panels approved through the city. 3) This delay put install in winter so extremely low generating power. 4) Storm blew off the facing of the panels a mere 3 months after install. 4) They did not describe, comment, warn, or recommend snow guards despite that I live in the northeast and on average receive well over the limit that requires guards, they then dodged email and phone calls for about 4 months (over 20 communication attempts). Sent video, photo, contractor proof of danger. Then sunrun said it was my problem, then said, "okay we will do half," then said they won't tell me the product until I sign a new contract. Still ongoing to this day 7 months after the incident.
5) Their website and app really really is worthless, does not tell you month by month, does not show you daily generation and monthly generation, it can show you each day but never a sum total which is useless. 6) We had a power outage and my panels stopped producing for over a month, zero alerts, zero notices, zero warnings so what is the point of the company or an app/website when it can't tell you these things?
7) Have never been able to pick up the phone and talk to support, constantly long delays for the last 2.5 years, says they will call back-never do, won't respond to emails, will close and transfer cases to kick things down the road and delay and then new case managers need "time to get acquainted with the case". Numerous excuses. For largest solar company in the country they are worthless, just out for your money not expanding green technology. Do not use them under any circumstances.

I’ve been without Solar Service for 25 days and still haven’t received status/estimate from Sunrun on when my system will be repaired. I originally needed an old, failed, inverter replaced with a new one. Sunrun installed a new inverter that failed on the day it was installed. That same day I then contacted Sunrun to report this issue. They diagnosed and I was told the issue was a faulty inverter. They said they would replace it. I was given a case # and the name/contact info of the Field Coordinator who would oversee the case. I then waited. On day 21, having heard nothing back, I emailed the Field Performance Coordinator. I heard nothing. On day 24 I called and left a message for the Field Coordinator…Again nothing.
It is now day 25 so I called the Sunrun support line. They said they were waiting to hear back from the warehouse on the replacement inverter, could not locate the Field Performance Coordinator and could not provide any more information regarding when my system would be repaired. I’ve now been without solar power for more then 3 weeks during the highest producing months of the year (summer) in California. I purchased the system from Sunrun through Costco a few years ago. Installation was swift and without issue (5 stars). Now, when there is a repair needed, I expect to enjoy the same gold standard customer support. That has not been the case. The support I have received is unreasonable for any reputable company’s standard. Poor customer service including poor customer communications, ill-informed customer service representatives and slow problem resolution are the driving factors compelling me to provide this review.

I need to start by saying the sales and installation was perfect, no issues at all. Once the installation completed is when the issues start. As the soon as the installation is completed they hand you a piece of paper saying the system will be inspected by the local jurisdiction within 3 to 5 days. Well the inspection did not happen for over 30 days and I am assuming the inspection was never arranged by Sunrun. The inspection only occurred after I got the original sales guy involved.
Now the inspection is complete we are waiting for PG&E to switch the meter and who knows how long this will take as PG&E do not respond either. Contacting sunrun was absolutely a waste of time as the Project coordinator, branch manager and installation manager never replied to any phone calls or support tickets and quite frankly they were totally useless throughout the entire process. Due to Sunrun's back office incompetence I have a solar sitting on roof, for 60 days, generating zero electricity but the system cost 30K while I am paying PG&E over $400, in utility bills, per month waiting for permission to operate. Beware of the lack of support, transparency and customer service.

My Name is Mirko **, and unfortunately brand new customer of SunRun. The sales process makes you feel very comfortable and sure of their work....but what fool I was to believe in their promises. The first strike was being promised (with email confirmation) a significant discount to make a deal happen made even after 2 weeks of system approved to operate and running they have not sent the Appeasement funds promised.
Next communication during the install and approval process they push everything to you and I had to push back the project Manager to handle the communication with the HOA after giving all the contacts we had and they keep asking for us to reach the HOA even after we gave the contact. Then communication for appointments was less than 24 hrs prior to people showing in our House!... When asking about ETA the only answer was that they would reach a deal let us know with 48 hrs....what a joke!...
During the install the installers damaged my internet fiber optic and did not even communicated to us and we only found out when they were leaving that the internet was still not working....We had eventually to call ATT to have a tech on site but took him 2 days to get in and fix it....great.... Ground wire was left loose and being a thick wire it almost hit my eyes when looking at the system install and very disappointed on the conditions left in.
Installer informed us that battery had an issue and he could not get any readings but they would keep working on it remotely....Sure after almost a month I am still waiting for the response....and when questioning their customer service they had no idea of this issue and after half a day on the phone they created a new ticket. Almost 2 weeks and no response, only that they had 10 business days to respond....and it was 8 days when I called!
I had a previous 22 panels system from a different supplier and when installing they actually removed this system from service and I only found out after comparing the newest highest bill ever with previous ones seeing my consumption jumping over 1000KwH from the previous ones.... Also during that call they informed I could see the battery diagnostic on the Tesla App, which we were never informed until this call....
Now struggling to get the Tesla App working as they do not have my email set up in their system as Sunrun never gave them my information to them, or even bother to show us how everything worked....No the response was "here is Tesla customer support, call them to help you." So in general poor craftsmanship, misleading or missing communication....lack of transparency in their pricing and horrible customer service.

After months delay I was repaid but the cost of restoring wall covering $26000 dollars and repair of floor have not been reimbursed $600. The worst part is refusals to talk with me by Dan ** despite numerous emails and phone calls. I would advise not using Sunrun as they do great with happy talk but do not treat customers fairly. The contract was signed in late April of this year. The system was installed, after various attempts, and completed over a month ago. But we still can not take advantage of any savings. BTW, the installation team was quite professional and dedicated. These guys are independent subcontractors of Sunrun. The story is that we are still waiting for the local power company to install the bi-directional power meter and turn the system on. There seems to be no effective coordination between the project manager at Sunrun and their counterpart at the local power company. The end result is that still in August, on our roof, there are thousands of dollars that are not producing electricity and nobody is getting paid other than the local power company. I can see how Sunrun's stock is tanking when projects can not be turned into an investment/asset.

My husband and I were excited to invest in solar energy. COSTCO advertised solar energy for Sunrun and we made an appointment with their rep. We had our first meeting and were sold in all the benefits and were accepting of the price around 48,000.00. We were told it would take a couple of months to complete which was ok after seeing the whole process. Our sales rep stayed in contact with us till it was handed over to another lady in a separate department. The communication from her was like pulling teeth till I asked her to at least update us once a week because we were told various people would be stopping by to do specific things for the process. Well this process took forever.
We were told the process was finally going to move forward....took a few more weeks for another person to install some electric panel and some other work. This whole time I am getting constant emails about changes and they needed signing. So I go ahead and sign. Nowhere do I remember the sales rep or anyone saying that subcontractors from a different company will be doing the installation of the electric panel and other additions. Weeks after we saw the last person who installed the electric panel we are getting frustrated because we had to reschedule our summer family vacation because we did not know when the installation was going to happen since we were told every reason on why it was delayed. We were even offer 1000.00 rebate because of our cancelation of our trip.
We started signing documents at the beginning of March and now it's the end June and we just wanted to call it quits. (Mind you...I would not have been bothered by the long installation period if we were being told the truth about the timeline from the beginning). We then finally received the last document which is the financing document. We were under the impression that our total for the solar was going to be in the high $40,000 range. When we see total after all the financing fees it ended up around $65,000.00. Now if we were told the whole price from the beginning I might have considered paying that amount but since that was not the number we were given I was definitely not going to pay that. So I did not sign off for the financing and informed the manager we will not be getting solar panels.
The lack of communication with sunrun and the lack of truthfulness in the beginning were our deciding factors to cease installation. After talking to the manager he decides to tell my husband that he can have Sunrun install by the next week. Why did it take us having to say we wanted to cancel in order for something to happen. We declined and he said we could cancel.
A few weeks later I get a bill for over $3,000.00 for the work that was done in my garage. This work was completed before the solar panels were supposed to be installed. This work, mind you took forever to happen as well. So I am being charged $3000 for work done in my garage that I will never use nor wanted. Supervisor explained that the work is done and I have to pay it. He was definitely rude. He says I signed the contract saying I'm responsible for it.
I am still waiting to receive my contract and view the multiple changes they kept making. How are you holding me responsible for a job yall never completed. I agreed to pay any work done with the notion of the project being completed and financed. Not once were we told about being billed for anything if we decided not to sign the contract. Especially since nothing was completed. I will definitely be viewing the documents that I have and the documents I asked them to send me. This is not a responsible and respectful way to conduct business. I always heard horror stories about customers and their experiences with solar companies. I didn't think it would happen to me...boy was I wrong.

Do not hire this company!!! Our inverter stopped working after a 1.5 years. It took them 6 months and 3 different appointments to replace it under warranty, that's 6 months of lost production. I just got a $1000 true up bill from PG&E. Now 7 months in and countless phone call I still can not see production on the App. The real kick in the teeth is they told us that because I didn't catch the failure and report it until two weeks after it happened they are not going refund us for those 2 week not the entire time it offline and Sunrun will not even start a refund until they can see our inverter production on their end, because the repair tech either didn't write down the serial number or wrote it down wrong.
So now we have a wait another month for a tech come out and get the serial number again and hope they input correctly so we (us & them) can see production. We own our system outright. They refuse to release the system for is to be able to see it directly through Solar Edge's portal.

Just had our solar installed yesterday. It has been a headache from the get-go. Our sales rep Amy told us that we would be getting black panels and that we would be able to put our battery in the garage. The contract was changed multiple times because she told us we needed less panels than we did. There were a ton of excuses about why she was wrong on this and there was a lot of back and forth just on the amount of panels we would need. We decided ourself to max it out because we will be getting a pool and needed the panels to cover running the pool filter as well. They showed up to our house on time and there were materials that were not brought with them, they were lazy and stood on our new plastic shed and broke it, poor foreman was left to pick up trash they had left in our yard for two hours after they other crew left. They finished and it was dark so they could not check the system.
Now we have to wait to see when they will come back out to do that. Came outside to find that we have the exact opposite of black panels. They are exactly the old style ugly lines panels that Amy told us we would NOT have. Also as soon as we told them battery in the garage they told us it wasn’t allowed in CA to be inside the garage. Amy knew I didn’t like the look of those panels and insisted ours would be black. I texted her last night to let her know how upset I was that I have these big grid panels on the front of our house and she came back with oops sorry for the misinformation but these panels absorb more sun than the black ones so I should be happy and also that the rule changed July 1st about the battery placement.
She completely lied to us to get that sale and it is beyond shady. We were convinced this wouldn’t be a scam or have any issues since Costco is aligned with them, but we were wrong. Can’t wait to see what awaits us next after reading these reviews. I take reviews with a grain of salt but these 1 stars were right. Since the first two things we were told would happen were lies, I guess we shall see what shakes out next.

The installation of our Sunrun solar was, and still is, a train wreck from day one. The first install by TITAN, there were two needed, had pipes all across our front entry way. It seriously looked like a third-world hack job that my teenage boys did. So bad that my wife actually cried when she saw it and a few neighbors came over and were pissed at how it presented itself in our neighborhood. Not a joke or an embellishment. Needless to say that was pulled down and a prelim to what is.
First decent rain, the roof leaked like crazy. Water spots on the ceilings across four bed rooms. NICE HUH? I go up into the attic to discover SEVERAL breaches, (I have many photos) with many 8 inch screws completely missing the roof trusses they are to be mounted to. Other areas where I can only assume they missed and knew they missed, had a clear slime squeezed into the holes. Brilliant top-notch work I tell you. I call and email, send the photos of the breaches and water damaged ceilings, Titan quickly sends out two people to patch the breach areas. Nice guys really. All good right? Their own repairman tells me what a terrible install job was done... But I bet that isn't in any report I'd ever see. The water-marked ceilings, apparently are at my expense.
After the SunRun/Titan patch-job, and now weeks later it rains heavy today in Las Vegas and the water marks are back...and larger than previously. It's a shame I can't post photos as this being year two, can you image at year ten what condition our home will be in? To say I'm upset is an understatement to say the least. Side note, and I am 100% correct on this fact. SunRun sends out a roof inspector to make sure your roof is in topnotch shape and approved to have solar installed.
The roof "inspector" your SunRun salesman tells you will inspect your roof, to positively make sure it's OK to install solar panels, is NOT actually a "licensed" roofing inspector at all! Fun fact no? Misrepresentation across the board with any SunRun salespeople. There are pages and pages of online complaints about these... Sooo, I can check off boxes on a piece of paper. I guess I too am a qualified roof inspector for one or your largest investments where your family feels most protected. Who knew?
Just so EVERYONE is aware. Home roofs are NOT built for solar panel installation. They are an after thought add-on and NOT in any building plans from a contractor. Otherwise changes in the structural roof build would be implemented prior to construction. Can your roof hold them, yes, however it's NOT constructed to do so. So, in my now humble opinion, and after speaking with a few actual roofers, your roof WILL inevitably leak because of the large diameter holes being drilled through it during solar panel installation. It may not happen right away like mine did yet look again at that contract... The SunRun "leak" warranty is only for five years. Why do you think that is?
Lets try and guestimate my future repair costs. 18 panels that SunRun conveniently forgets to tell you must pay them to have removed and reinstalled if you need a new roof that they destroyed yet won't take blame for, plus the cost of a complete roof replacement... Anyone have an extra S30,000-$40,000 they can send my way? And, so everyone is also aware, SunRun can't be sued for anything. The conman... Sorry, contract, buries that little tidbit way deep. ALWAYS ask a solar sales rep for a PRINTED copy of the contract to look over. I also highly suggest video recording all in-person conversations. What is being told to you is not actuality.
If you do want solar be sure to red-line the daylights, in detail, out of the contract or better yet hire an attorney to do so until you are truly covered to include class-action litigation in your state. Get a LICENSED roof inspector to look over your home BEFORE a solar company does and compare the results. I bet the results will be drastically different and a licensed roof inspector will advise you to NOT install solar panels. I'll update this post and each year we'll see how this goes.
