There's a thing in California called net electric metering. I hope I'm under NEM 2.0 because I've had to go back and ask people, “Am I covered? Am I good?” So, if there was a bit more transparency around that. Other than that, everybody, all the way down the line, it has been great. We’re happy with the designer. She did a great job. At first, this time of year, we didn't get a lot of sun because of the length of the days. But my bill for October was a credit.
Thank you so much for being part of our Sunrun family!

I have never had a good interaction with SunRun customer service. Currently dealing with an error code on my inverter. My case manager doesn't accept phone calls and when I asked to speak with manager I waited on hold for 30 minutes, then got hung up on. They're trying to charge me $190 for what they call a "healthy system inspection" when my manual says that if the code persists to call for a technician. I would not only NOT recommend this company, but actively and strongly advise against using this company.

The timing was good when I signed up with Sunrun. Tim, the rep, did very good. Since I have had the solar energy system, every day is cloudy. So, I'm paying it and my electricity bill at the same time. So now, I’m not too happy to have the solar system since every day’s weather is bad. I look through my app every day and it is either one kilowatt charge or none. My friend and family told me that during the winter, I am not going to have much. But during summertime, I’m gonna make all those times. So, I’m gonna wait. So far, Sunrun is perfect.

I have been trying to get Sunrun to fix a communication problem for over 2 months. Our first call was Oct 19 2021. It is now Dec 21 2021. Our meter is not notifying our electric company of our production, resulting in phenomenally high electric bills (>10x normal) and a lot of frustration. I have spent many hours of my time trying to resolve the issue and they, without checking with me, last week after I contacted them yet again, decided to cancel my service ticket according to their customer service rep Carlos. Worst worst worst service I have ever seen and I've seen a lot!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Denise. We're so sorry to hear about your experience. We'd be happy to look into this for you. Please send us a private message with your service address. Thanks!

Enrolling with Sunrun took longer than I expected. The system was designed for three batteries and the reps came out not knowing that. They were only going to put in one so that delayed the permit process. There were issues with the permits with Contra Costa County, which legitimately may be considered outside of the parameters of Sunrun. They don't have control over the permit process but they do have control over how it was reported incorrectly the first time. The delay cost an extra two months. We started it in April of 2021 and we got turned on October 5th.
The installation team was good. But the following day after they did the install, I had my painter come out to paint and he discovered that I had four broken roof tiles. It was from the solar install so I called Sunrun. They responded immediately. They had somebody out the next day with brand new roof tiles and they communicated to me that the installers don't normally tell us. They just come out and repair anything that's damaged. They did it in a timely manner and worked on a hot day. I'm satisfied. After we had the installation, our first PG&E bill was $19 instead of $200.
I don’t use the Sunrun much but I use the Tesla app to monitor our three power walls. It is able to tell me at a glance instantly the current production and the past, based on day, week or month. It's a phenomenal app. We had a crazy hiccup though. We were installed October 5th and around November 10th, the Tesla app showed that we had no production. We had production but we had no storage. It was as if something had been turned off. So, we set an appointment for Sunrun. It took them three weeks to come out and the technician discovered that it had nothing to do with Sunrun. Tesla had a software update and as soon as that software update was completed remotely by a Tesla technician on the phone with Sunrun, we had solar power being stored in the batteries. I could monitor it again.
I'm rooting for Sunrun. The package that we got is 25 years bumper-to-bumper repair, maintenance and replacement of the panels, the batteries and the inverter. I'm happy with that package and I'm hoping that Sunrun is here for decades to come. I sell heating and air conditioning, and every time somebody even mentions solar, I tell them to go Sunrun. So, I actively promote it.
Thank you for sharing your story, Gerald. Your feedback helps us to keep improving your solar experience. We're sorry there was an issue with your install, but glad to hear everything has worked out. Thanks for choosing us as your solar provider!

WARNING, I regret my decision to have gone with this solar company every day. I’ve been a customer for several years. BEWARE. About a year ago I began to notice water stains on my ceiling on one whole side of my house. My roof was less than 5 years old when they installed the panels. I reached out to the company and got no response. No one was willing to come out and inspect my roof. This continued for about 3 months until I was able to get in contact with someone. Not until a month later, they came out and uninstalled the panels on the damaged side of my roof. Those panels have been in my yard since June 2021. No one has been returning my calls, no one has been back to my house to help me with the leaks.
It is now December, I finally was able to talk to a case manager last week, which is 6 weeks from when she was assigned to me (sounds like I was a real priority). They sent out a guy who inspected my roof. He told me there was no way it was the panels and it was a defect in the shingles. I contacted the reputable roofer who installed my roof professionally and he came out to inspect and told me in 40 years the shingle company has existed there has never been a defect. The only cause could be from the installation of the panels. The guy Sunrun sent out not only forged an entire story but forgot to mention all the debris that was left on my roof from sun run. Unfortunately I’m locked into a 20 year contract with them. This is the worst, most unprofessional company I’ve ever experienced in all my years of living. Their panels RUINED my roof and caused damage to not only my roof but my attic, and my ceiling. Now I am stuck repairing something THEY CAUSED. BEWARE. Once they have you in a contract they FORGET ABOUT YOU.

When I first got Sunrun and had it installed, the price was different. I hadn't heard back from them about getting my refund. They called me a few days ago about receiving a refund after the first of the year. Then I haven't been able to connect through the internet to my account through Sunrun so I can track things every day if I want to. They have not fixed that yet. They said that a person would be calling me in two to three days. It's taken them a long time to get back to me on these things and I'm not happy. They should have done what they said when I signed the papers and agreement, that I would be able to track every day how my solar system is doing. If I can't connect to them, how are they connecting to my solar panels? They’re supposed to keep track if anything happens to it. I know my solar panels have snow on them.
I should have asked for the backup battery. We didn't push it because the power goes out, and the salesman at the time, who no longer works for the company, informed us that the battery wouldn't be strong enough to operate our artesian well. I'd rather have that running than my lights, refrigerator, and freezer. Unless it was in the middle of the summer, then it wouldn't take much to go down the river to get water to flush the toilet instead of the artesian well. But in the wintertime, it's frozen over.

Sunrun was very conscientious of what they were doing. They worked with the HOA. Whenever I had problems or questions, I could call and get answers, even though in retrospect, they were very simple answers. The people were excellent from the salesperson all the way to the technicians that came over to the final installation and check-out. They were upfront about the pluses and minuses of solar. It was helpful to have somebody being honest about it. The panels looked fabulous on the roof. It’s a new build.

We looked at another company and they had some weird things in their contract. We trust Costco vendors and Sunrun had a better contract. However, the girl who we scheduled to have come out showed up about two and a half hours late so that was a little weird. We had called and started to do it, and then she told us to do it through her and we'd get some gift cards, which we never got, so we ended up enrolling twice. It ended up taking us five hours to get enrolled.
The installation crew was fine for the most part and they did their job. There were just a few things that got messed up in our house. The cable had to do with the roof that we bundled in with it. The guy ended up having to move a box, which apparently controlled our internet, as he had to put the Sunrun boxes right where it was, and then it got disconnected and he was not able to put it back. I was at home at the time and trying to work, and all of a sudden, I had no internet. I ended up having to pay to get our cable and internet fixed. They were gonna reimburse for the damages to the cable and internet, and then they did not. I wasn't happy about them promising things and yet they didn't fulfill. But then our energy bill has been going down. Last month it was a $500 difference and that was pretty big. Overall, it was pretty good.

My dad has solar and he wanted to put a couple more panels and add the batteries. So, I recommended Sunrun. They said they had everything they needed, but they stopped communicating. I gave a call. “We'll call you back.” And there were no callbacks and emails. It has been months and it's not moving. I couldn't figure out why. I tried to call my service rep, Cody, and I didn't get anything. That was the only number I had. Cody left and Sunrun put a new project manager.
I wanted to get solar and Cody was able to get the financing put in place and all the nitty-gritties. Everything worked out. They came out and did the inspection, which went well. They came out and did the installation, which went smooth. Everything flowed the way it's supposed to. It went smooth until I recommended Sunrun to my father.

Sunrun came in with the right price. With their upfront and non-pressuring sales technique, that was nice. Their communication was pretty clear too. By going through Costco, I got a $1,000 Costco card. We got a lot of panels put on during installation and it was a pretty hot day, and the guys still did it all that day. The only issue I had was that there was a little bit of a delay and a lot of the delay ended up being on the municipal side. But that's understandable considering the state of the world at the moment. We didn't get the system turned on until mid-October. My power bill that month was expected to be in the 300s and it dropped down to the low 200s. Then now, I just got my first full month of solar and my power bill was $13, and that’s just the basic charge.

It is sad but common these days to deal with companies who have completely lost a sense of integrity and customer service. Welcome to the new normal, I guess. Running a business is hard….I know because I own one so when I write reviews, whether good or bad, it comes from a place of value and honesty. That's how companies improve, right? I have been dealing with open issues since May involving this solar process. The first issue involves a 3rd party contracted company called Prowest.
Sunrun hired Prowest to complete the underlayment before the solar was installed. Prowest had their team come out and complete the job quickly but apparently broke roof tiles because once the job was complete, the very top capstone ridge of my house was dark red on a very light pink tiled roof. They also replaced a tile on the back side of the house with a dark purple tile, again, on a light pink roof. I sent photos to Prowest and “Netika” my install coordinator at Sunrun. I explained to Netika that this needed to be fix before 1- the solar is installed 2 - the HOA sends a violation notice. Netika from Sunrun suggested to paint the tiles, to which I agreed, in order to move forward on the installation under the agreement that Prowest would fix this mistake.
When I emailed Netika about the status of the roof tiles towards the end of July, 2 months after the install, I was ghosted. I did talk to another customer service rep who explained that she knew Netika, would get answers and follow up. She didn’t follow through either. Finally, in August I left a review on Yelp about Prowest’s work on my roof to which the company contacted me with 10 minutes to find a solution. I’m [still] working with them to fix not only the mismatched roof tiles but also to figure why I have a leak in my roof since this was a brand-new underlayment. Grrr. Keep reading….the story gets better….
Another issue with Sunrun was with our A/C unit. Again, a 3rd party A/C company was hired by Sunrun to add a “soft start” to our main unit. About 1 month after installation, the unit began to make a very loud noise on a Saturday evening so we turned off the power to preserve machine. My husband contacted a A/C company first thing Monday morning and I contacted Sunrun. Sunrun customer service opened a “ticket” and explained that someone would get back to me soon. No one did, no one ever does. The A/C company we contacted came same day, evaluated, and reported that we need to get the original company to evaluate in case the issue is covered under warranty.
I called Sunrun to relay this information along with sending the report. I was told that someone would contacted soon to schedule the A/C company to fix the issue. To make this adventure more thrilling, this was July...in Phoenix, Arizona. Finally, after 4 days and nights of 89-degree bedroom temperatures and zero communication from Sunrun, I called [again] and asked for the name of company who installed the soft start so I can get this resolved. I called the company (Steve Ultimate Air) and spoke to a very helpful lady, Irene, who explained that she was shocked that Sunrun failed to be on top of this issue, but she was able to get someone out the following morning and fix the unit. (It was a bad capacitor). THANK YOU!
The next issue, which is still an open item to date, December 10, 2021, 6 months after install: my 2 very expensive Tesla Powerwalls decorations in my garage. Sunrun has an app to graph power production from our panels and to monitor battery status. When I registered for the app, it showed a single battery (I have 2). I called Sunrun to asked if this was normal…I was told no, it should show both batteries.
In addition, it was explained several times by the Sunrun sales rep (Brooks) that I would be able to view and control my 2 Powerwalls through the Tesla app with the purpose of controlling how power is being routed during the day/night to & from the batteries. I couldn’t register with the Tesla app, so I called Sunrun about this issue but was told to contact Tesla as it was on Tesla’s end. I discussed the issue with Telsa customer service only to learn that they do not handle 3rd party Powerwall purchases and needed to return to the company I purchased the batteries. Painful sigh.
Back to Sunrun. At this point I am 2 months after install with an app showing 1 battery, no connection to Tesla and personally dealing with Prowest as Sunrun never followed through on the mismatched roof tiles (HOA violation letter…check!). Sunrun scheduled an appointment mid-August to evaluate the installation work and figure out why the batteries were not communicating with the Sunrun/Telsa apps. “Alex”, from Sunrun, admitted that Sunrun had failed to complete registration of my batteries, guaranteed me that he would see it through, offered to help set up the Tesla app once the batteries were registered and gave me his cell number.
About 1 month later with no change, I contact Alex directly. He told me that he was horrified that it still wasn’t fixed, and he would get back to me. Do you think that happen? Nope. I got really busy around September so put this on the back burner however, out of desperation, I contacted my original sale rep Brooks to help with this headache. Brooks was great with the initial sales and education process. (You can tell this is where Sunrun spend their time on training.) He was somewhat helpful but this is not his department. He didn’t get very far in the process but told me that he forwarded the issue to a manager. No manager ever contacted me about this open issue.
Fast forward a couple more months to current standing on this issue. It is now December. Now the Sunrun app shows no batteries and no charge on the batteries…since August apparently. I called and spoke to Sunrun customer service rep who admitted that the "battery issue" is still an open ticket on my account and that I will be contacted by Sunrun in 3-4 days. No one called however, I received a technical email stating: “Hello, We are contacting you with an update to your case. Our PDT professional reviewers, added DIN (Device ID Number) for Tesla communications Gateway to our systems, it was never added in properly to active Gateway asset. DIN update should bring the Tesla battery to report to our system your production within 24-48 hours. For help setting up your Tesla App so you can monitor on your own, please call our customer care to provide assistance at (855)478-6786. Thank you and have a wonderful day!” Great.
A technical solar jargon email that is not helpful at all and admitting that Sunrun STILL HAS NOT REGISTERED MY BATTERIES. So here I am…72 hours after that email…no batteries showing on their app. No power being stored on the batteries. No connection to the Tesla app. And of course…no one is calling to follow up. SO. I’m resorting to posting on many platforms to hopefully save someone from the headache of using this horrible company.

Actually, this is a follow up review regarding my horrible experience with the SUNRUN Interconnection Team. The solar project has been paid in full after they finished installing the system last August 12, 2021. The next step is filling up and submitting the Interconnection application to PG&E by the Project Coordinator, which was submitted to me for my signature approval. Three weeks later, I contacted the Project Coordinator to get status update of the project, but I was unable to get hold of her, so, I left a message on her voicemail. I called PG&E on Sept. 21st to get update on the interconnection application, but I was surprised to know that the interconnection application form that they submitted was rejected due to wrong information.
The coordinator responded with text message after 3-4 days, but not mentioning any updates. She just informed me that she was moving to a different department, so, I will be getting a new coordinator. Later on, I got an e-mail from SUNRUN, introducing herself as my new coordinator and informed me that my supposed to be coordinator got ill, so she’s going to take over the job. I mentioned to her about the problem on the form that they submitted to PG&E, so, she assured me to take care of it. She filled up a new form and have me DocuSign it online.
Three weeks later, I never got any updates from her as she promised, so, I called the number she gave me, but with no luck. I left a message on her voicemail, but decided to call PG&E again to get status update. I was informed that the form they submitted was rejected again for the same reason. Since I could not get hold of the project coordinator, I e-mailed her and vented out my frustrations how this same problem has not been corrected. I contacted the salesman that I dealt with before and mentioned to him the situation of the project. He was in disbelief that after 3 months, the project is still on hold. He promised to help me to escalate the problem with his manager which I think they did.
A week later, I received a new DocuSign application form from the project coordinator for my signature approval. This was the third application form to be submitted, the first two was rejected due to errors. After four months since August, there is ZERO progress made by the Interconnection Team. I’m pretty sure that these people really needs further training on how to properly fill out forms. I will just hope that this horrible experience that I’m sharing now will not happen to anyone again. Spare the Headache and Stress by getting a better and trusted solar provider.

I had used Sunrun previously in my home in California. It was a huge saving. I looked at the numbers that have been put out and I looked at my energy rating for my house, and it seemed to be a pretty decent deal. So, I went with Sunrun this time again. This time, the enrolling process was not bad, but I had to push for some information. Still, at the end of the day, I've been negotiated into a deal which was not fully disclosed.
The installation of my panels went well. The installers did a good job. It's just that when I was initially doing the consultation about the system design phase, I was not made aware of certain things. The inverter that I'm using right now backs up only part of the house. But then I, at least, have the idea that the battery backup system that I have would power the house a little bit during the day. When the night starts, it will deplete the battery and then go into using the power. But it looks like that's not how it can be set up with this existing inverter. Only the Tesla inverters do that.
They gave me two options to choose from. One was Tesla and the other one was the Delta inverters. I was looking for SolarEdge inverters, which I had experience with before. They said that it's not in use with Sunrun anymore. So, there are some kind of troubles there. As far as production, mine is good because I've installed a system at a higher capacity than what I need. Even on a cloudy day, it's a pretty decent amount of production. But then with my utilization, even though I produce, I'm unable to take advantage of the power that I'm producing because of the way the power companies are structured here in Texas. It's different from California. California gives the credits back, but I don't think Texas companies do give credits.
I have 9 kilowatt-hours of battery that is sitting there, which I cannot take advantage of at all. Only when the entire grid fails that comes online. I can use that 9 kilowatt-hours to run my entire night, in most cases. So, that's my problem. That, apparently, is only available with the other inverters. Also, the app that is connecting to Sunrun only gives power production of the previous day. I cannot see what is the power production right now if I wanted to right now. With the SolarEdge app, I was able to monitor that. With this Delta inverters, I don't have any insight. There is a 24-hour lag time, and it only shows the daytime production. I'm pretty confident there is also nighttime production because I know if there is a full moon out there, there is enough power production.
I’m kind of a very technology-savvy customer. Sunrun has gone with a deal with this particular inverter, Delta inverter, which kind of blocks me out from seeing what I want to see, just whatever Sunrun chooses to show me is what I see. So, it's kind of very limiting. I tried calling Delta. They said, “Oh, this is a custom inverter, we cannot do that.” I couldn't find anybody to help me with that as well. With SolarEdge, previously, in California, I was able to get in touch with SolarEdge. They gave me the system identifier, and so I put it in their app, and it would directly give me monitoring directly through SolarEdge. I didn't have to use a Sunrun app. SolarEdge app has way much more details than what Sunrun app provides. Sunrun’s app is more for like a simple customer that says, “Oh, I'm happy. I'm doing some production.”
I've invested $40,000 and I think that app could have been more user-friendly. The person who advised me could have given me a little more advice, saying, “Hey, you are spending this much money. Why don't you look at the other one?” Very clearly, I told him, there are two reasons I'm going for solar. One is to reduce my energy cost. Second is to have a battery backup. Essentially, I'm not building any system without a battery backup, and I was completely not advised about this other feature in Tesla.
With Tesla, apparently, you can have very good details on the batteries. Sunrun is not involved in that. So, I directly get Tesla's app, and I can follow up on that. Also, it backs up the entire house. So, I can section off parts of the house and turn off the circuit breakers, and again, save them to run it for probably a couple of days, if need be. So, that is something I'm a little bit sad about. The people who came to install were all wonderful and I had a wonderful experience, but during the design phase, the project coordinator could have done a better job of informing what is needed because we depend on their expertise to understand what needs to be done. They did not do a good job even after telling them, “I'm up to $40,000. Design a system for me that will give me the best bang for the buck in terms of saving power.”
In California, the guy who came in was so well-knowledged. He kind of gave me not only what system I need to use and why I need to use the system and what is the power company doing. I did not even know that the power companies don't do a buyback policy here in Texas until after I had installed the system and I went to the power company. They said, “Oh, we don't buy your power back. We don't need your power.” I had to call back and figure out and then all that stuff happened.

We're waiting for a second set up of solar panels for our guest house but the installation of the first set of panels was great. It was a day job and it was easy. Everybody was also so wonderful at Sunrun. All the information was provided clearly. But the process takes too long. We started at April, and we haven't finished yet. So it's very annoying. Especially the loan, we didn't know for a month then they told us that something happened with it and that we had to reapply.

Our power bill has decreased significantly, just buying at the Sunrun’s rate. We’re in the San Joaquin Valley, California and it gets extremely hot during the summer. A number of years ago, we were experiencing PG&E power bills that were well over $500, $600, and $700 a month. Now, we’re generating power through the panels and with Sunrun, we’re doing well. Their customer service reps are excellent but they’re a little bit hard to get ahold of as far as a phone number for customer service. Other than that, I would recommend them highly.

Working with Sunrun was good. They're just having trouble with my battery right now, but other than that, it's been going good. I wanted a solar system because I wanted a battery backup just in case the power goes out, especially in the wintertime. Sunrun was the only company with a battery for backup. I've been asked for about five years from companies for me to put solar on my roof, and I asked them if they had a battery that I could charge up and store just in case a power outage, and they all said no. So, I was just waiting for somebody to come around with a battery. As far as the installers, they were great.
Thank you so much for being part of our Sunrun family!

I recently purchase a house that has a system, I was told by the owner that Sunrun would get ahold of me before closing date. They did not. I was able to find a tag on one of the components with a name and phone number of the system Mfg. Call and the women I talked to told me that my system was installed by Sun Run and I will need to talk to them. She gave me their contact information. I called and was transferred to the transferring agent. His name Hemerson **. This seems to the only time I really got to talk to him on the phone, he said that all the questions I have would be answered in the paperwork he would send me the next day. And seemed that he did not want to be bother with even trying to answer my questions. And seemed the more questions I asked, the more it bother him, it was few days later when I received a copy of the original contract that was signed by the previous owner. After reading it I had questions.
Since then, I have call him at least 5 times and left messages and have emailed 1 to 2 times a week since Oct 8. It is now Dec 10. I have received emails saying that my question has been transferred to my agent and that they will get back to me in 1-2 business day. They have not. Customer Service seems to be lacking.I tried calling the local Sunrun business and all they could do is transfer me to the call center and I did talk to another lady that was apologetic that this process was so hard but was unable to answer my questions. Said I had to go through Hemerzon. She did tell me that she would get ahold of him and make sure that he would get back to me. I have still not heard anything.
At this point I want to buy out the contract, so I don’t have to deal with them. Or have them removed and go with another company or just get away from Solar, If anybody know of a way to get this please let me know. If I would have known what I know now believe I would have walked from away from the home because of this.

The way that Sunrun's rep at Home Depot delivered his message to me when he asked the question about my PG&E bill captured my attention, and I wanted to know more. About a year before I enrolled with Sunrun, I had spoken with someone else about solar panels. But they couldn't explain it to me very well. They also told me they needed to cut the big tree down in front of my house and I didn't want that down, because that was why I bought the house. So I told them no. But Sunrun said they didn't need to cut the tree down.
The installation of the panels took two days and the installers were good. They cleaned up after themselves and I really liked that they were a group of young people because I have a younger son and he has a disability. And he was able to watch it. One of the guys talked to him as well so that was really good. So far, I don't hear much noise outside as I used to and that surprised me because I didn't ever think that roof was letting noise in. I always thought it was outside. And I can't hear as well from the back of the house to the front. I can't hear the noise going on in the kitchen, too. So the equipment installed cut down on a lot of noise that I used to hear. It also makes the house look uniquely built. I like the way they close the panels off by putting a flatted leaf there and didn’t leave it just exposed. And my SMUD bill is cheaper now. I would tell my neighbors how much a benefit it is to get Sunrun and that it's a good thing to invest in.

From the very beginning of the project, there was no communication. They have too many people working on the same project, nobody really in charge, and the panels took way longer to get it installed. They would show up, schedule an appointment, and after I called them for months, they'd say they were going to come and connect the system. And they came. Then the guy went out there and worked on it for a while, but said they couldn't connect it because the power company hadn't given them permission. I told them that hat was done two months ago, and I've been calling and waiting on them. He said he had no communication of that, so I showed him the email. So he went ahead and decided to turn it on.
Right now, I have been spending five weeks trying to get some new plans from Sunrun because the association came in and inspected the system. And they put in a conduit and an outlet on the outside of the house that were not in the original plans. Last week, I finally got ahold of somebody named Lina and this was my fourth phone call. She sent me the plans and finally got some painters scheduled, because also they didn't paint all the boxes that the association wants painted to match the house. But that took me calling every single week and people saying they were going to do this and that, and that they've got it in my file. The association gave me two weeks to get it done and I've had to file for extensions with them in order to not get fined.
We were also waiting for months for any response from them to get the system installed. It was so bad that we talked to the guy that we see every week in Home Depot selling Sunrun. He was the one that finally got on to schedule because I told them I was going to fire them. We actually have friends in our neighborhood that hired Sunrun, too, and after a year, they didn't have their solar panels. So they fired them and within three weeks, they had their panels installed by the new company. So I told him I was just going to stop the process. Then somebody showed up and started installing a week later. The whole thing was just bizarre.

SunRun told me that I can save energy on the solar panel but right now, I'm paying more than I have. the salesperson told me that I'm just gonna pay the minimum payment for the ComEd and then the $68 for the solar panel. So, it was a good deal. They just told me what's gonna happen if your solar panel is not producing energy. You're still gonna pay on ComEd. That's not what they told me when they were telling me about the solar panels. So, I'm gonna cancel. It’s a trick.

While I appreciate that Sunrun is in business to sell consumers a product, I found it to be a lot like dealing with a car salesman. I felt pressured to sign the online documents with the assurance that I could change my mind within 10 days if I didn't want to proceed. There were a lot of positives pointed out & a $1,000 signing bonus. I signed with that in mind but said I wanted to research the issues of how the contract might affect the sale of my house & to think about it. I was reassured this wouldn't be an issue because of the tight housing market & people transferred the contract to new owners all the time.
However, I found an article about buying or selling your home w/ solar panels that laid out the facts. Buyers may be hesitant about taking on a long-term contract (this one is 25 years @ approx. $93 increasing to $172/mth w 2.9% interest) at a high cost versus a lower-cost contract with a shorter time span. (There is a $250 fee charged for the process of changing to a new owner. If the new owner doesn't qualify via their FICO score or refuses to sign, the contract states Sunrun can ask for the total amount of future payments from the contracted.) The article I read also points out that if the panels are owned outright by the homeowner it increases the value of the home, but not if the panels involve extensive contract payments at a high cost. I have some panels already in place by a different company but at a much lower cost and approx 8 years left on the contract.
Despite assurances by the sales rep, it seemed to me that I could end up paying for the duration of the contract despite selling the house or that a buyer might back out. As I want to sell my home in a few years and SMUD is amenable to my making similar payments for the yearly amount owed on the existing panels without a 25-year contract it didn't make sense to continue with the Sunrun contract.
It was also a bit scary that when I realized that this is a $30,000+ contract and the total cost was never pointed out to me, nor was I given the time to read the contract in detail. I only had 10 days to decline and discovered that the contract has a specific procedure in order to cancel the 25-year contract. This procedure wasn't shared with me & the rep continued to try to proceed w/ a site visit despite my sending him a notice (per BPC 7159 guidelines) that I had changed my mind. I later explained why at his request. He continued to proceed with plans for a site visit.
At that point, I was concerned that he was trying to run out the clock on my 10-day window. As stated in the contract, I filled out the NOTICE OF CANCELLATION in the contract and mailed it to Sunrun Installation Services, Inc. I find it bizarre that Sunrun has no fax (on purpose?). The contract states that I can mail them the notice or send it via telegram within 10 days. (I didn't think telegram was used anymore.) I did finally get the sales rep to understand that I wanted to cancel. However, I wanted to post my review as this is a serious long-term contract with heavy financial obligations that could last 25 years. I should have insisted on reading the contract prior to signing anything but am glad I figured out what to do. I would encourage others to read the contract in detail before signing and to research the costs & obligations. If canceling the contract within the 10-day window, follow the requirements set forth in EXHIBIT C.

The sales representative was awesome and the installation was great. The process took months and we just got up. But I don't know if it's been running or not because when it was installed, the installers never bothered to hook up the part that monitors the system so that they can see on their end and I can see on my end through my app the energy that the system is using. I made several calls to the salesman and the tech support, and they opened up four tickets. But they would never help me because they never closed the ticket before. So, I pulled out a ladder, opened the box, climbed up there and saw that they never hooked it up. They never bothered to call and never resolved the problem. So, I'd be pissed if I didn't climb up there on a ladder myself and connect the unit that sends information to them and me, but I'm the one who did that.
The salesperson was great but then, he quit contacting me even though I kept texting him and saying it was not working. He promised that he would take care of it. I even called and said they were supposed to bill us in November and I said that it's not even working and that they can't bill me. No one ever followed up. It was some person from India because they were hard to understand and they were in a different time zone so the times that they could call were very inconvenient for me because they don't start before 11 am in the morning. So, I have a big, bad mark against it. I couldn't recommend Sunrun to people because we went through all of that. And having me, as an older person, climb on a big, huge ladder to get in the box and see that they just didn't plug in the unit so that it could work.
I like seeing how much electricity the solar panels generate and I’m wondering if we're using power from TEP or is there some that is reserved for the evening hours when we use electricity at night time and there’s no sun. But I'm not ever going to call Sunrun unless I absolutely have to because the reps don't speak very good English. Hiring them saves money but that’s horrific. I wish I would have known that in advance because we wouldn't have done business with them. This has been so frustrating. If they would have sent a technician, he would have seen that it was so simple and the system would have worked. Also, they saw on their end that they couldn't read it but they still failed to send somebody out.

Installation was very good. There were little hiccups and glitches, like Sunrun told me they wouldn’t install it one time, and we had to change the date. Other than that, everyone that came out was very pleasant. They tried to keep me informed along the way and did what they said they were going to do. If they said they would have it finished by that day, it was finished. The only drawback was when we had to wait almost four weeks for enCore to get around to giving the final approval. Sunrun had all the paperwork, and enCore had it too. I'm also having a little hiccup right now, but the Sunrun reps are still being very upfront and helpful.
The representative Jason was very informative, and I explained to him what my desire was. I wasn't trying to cover my whole home and produce enough electricity as I could or even try to have enough electricity to sell back to the power company. My main focus was to just have enough power that I could still comfortably stay in my home while they played with whatever they were playing with. I get a report from my electric company, saying how much my usage is, and there's been somewhat of a drop in my utility bill, but I'm not seeing a credit under my side yet.

When I first started, they gave me Maria to be my project coordinator. I called her a couple of times but she never returned them. So, I called and talked to somebody else, they answered my questions and assigned somebody else to me. They sent the engineer out. It's funny because he put a hole in my ceiling. It looks like wood planks, like a shiplap almost ceiling in my family room. But it's actually like that Styrofoam board. And he was pressing on the ceiling, figuring out the strength of everything like that, because this house was originally a cottage. His hand went through my ceiling. He called his boss and within two days, they had somebody come out here and repair it and I could barely tell that it was patched. So, you can't beat that. Don't hide it. Just, “Let's see what we can do to make it right.” And they did. He did a very good job of patching.
I have to call ComEd because I was on a budget with them and it was $71. And the first month that my solar went live, they upped my budget to 94. I can see on the Sunrun website I'm producing solar. And on the ComEd website, when I went to pay my bill, it said that, “You'll start seeing solar credits next month.” And this month's bill is $94 again. This is my second full month of bills that I've paid Sunrun $45 last month and this month, but I'm not getting the solar credits on my ComEd bill. Other than that, the installers were great.

Sunrun helped out with everything. I was looking to do solar because my brother was pushing me. He said I have the perfect house so I started doing some investigative work. I talked to several companies and Sunrun came out with the best deal. Michael, the rep, never pushed so I wound up signing up. The installer came out in the god-awful heat and had to climb up into my hot attic. Everyone was wonderful about it. I had no issues and they took care of all that. Everything progressed exactly how the rep said.
We had one small glitch when Sunrun installed and then, we had to get the village out for the final inspection. It didn't pass. Sunrun came out right away and fixed it. They needed to ground to the water supply and that wasn't done. They said they would come out and set it up. It was Labor Day and I asked if they were going to send a crew out. The girl called me back and said that the installers said they would be out but they never showed up. I called and said that I was at work and they set it up for a couple of days later and gave me $100 because I would have worked Labor Day otherwise, and made the extra money. Sunrun compensated and took care of everything.
I feel fantastic and I love getting this $14 ComEd bill. My brother is very much into solar energy and green, and he went out and checked everything. He said that Sunrun did a nice job. My niece's boyfriend installs solar so he checked everything out and said too that it was nice. I give Sunrun’s name out to everybody. I had several people from work ask me about it and I said that it’s still new for me and we’ll wait and see how it does as we progress. I'd gone through two electric bills and I've already got solar and the kilowatts rolling, and I haven't used as much as I've produced. ComEd’s delivery fee comes to $14.34 and that's all my electric bill has been.
It’s winter and right about now, we would be under a lot of snow. I'm still producing a lot of solar although I've had a couple of days where it was one or two kilowatts. For the most part, even with the shortened days, I've been producing 25 kilowatts a day. We haven't had any snow and the weather has been quite cooperative. Once the snow hits, the kilowatts are gonna drop but I'm expecting that. The only thing is that I was hoping the solar would all be up and running quicker than it was. But it was not by any fault of Sunrun. It takes time to get the inspectors out and get the permits. But if we had gotten it up and running earlier, I would've hit a lot of that heavy duty summer months, where there are tons of sun. So I'm curious for next summer to see where it goes.

Updated on 01/19/2022: UPDATE: "Digital Engagement Specialist" told me to give him a time to call to follow-up. Didn't call me until a week later unexpectedly. Second Update: They were willing to give me a $2500 discount on their removal and reinstall of the panels. So I still have to pay $3500 for criminal behavior. But I'm stuck and they know it because I need a new roof, so I signed a contract for removal. Took a week or more to get a removal scheduled. They were removed about two weeks after that. Roof went on immediately following. So when will they be reinstalled? I asked the folks doing the removal and they said the scheduler would call. Roof done weeks ago and no call. So I called and they created a "support ticket" and someone would follow-up with me in 5 days.
A support ticket for the scheduling department to call me to set up the reinstall for over a month out?! What in the world? Why not just connect me with the scheduling department? So what can I do? I wait the 5 days. It's been over 10. No call. They don't want to reinstall these panels. I've e-mailed 3 times! They want me to pay for this? They want me to update my review to something better? I should never have to pay a dime for this sort of work. And the company that removed the panels was clearly a bunch on contracted employees paid on the cheap. Do you think I want them putting holes in my 50 year brand new roof? I'm definitely worried, but maybe my concerns are completely unfounded because they'll never actually get around to putting them back on my roof!
Third Update: MONTHS after we started this, I finally got the team to come out to start the reinstall. They installed all of framing for the panels but left at 3 PM stating they needed another two hours on a separate day to get the panels on. Seemed odd since they could have finished. But they blamed the appointment department saying for the size system it should have been a two day install. I explained that it had taken me weeks to even get calls back for appointments and that no one follows-up so I was concerned that I needed them to schedule another visit. He said, "No worries, I'll make sure someone calls you." Okay, well days later they send me an email with the appointment time for another several weeks out. Guess what? The day came and went and no one showed up, no one called. The system remains uninstalled.
I am on hold trying to figure out right now how to get them scheduled, get these 35 panels out my side yard, and finish this horrible saga. Oh, and the kicker? Sunrun has been billing me for generating power these past several months even though there are no panels on my roof. They don't even know in their own company that the panels are removed and they don't think to freeze the charges. So I'm guessing this is another several hour saga to get those charges reversed. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!
Original Review: I was forced to assume a leased solar agreement from Sunrun because we bought a home where it was tied to a lien on the house. Sure, maybe you save a little money on your monthly electric bill, but you lose it all instantly (plus some) when you have to replace your shingles. This criminal company installed the whole system on an aged roof in need of repair! Of course, the lady (previous owner) who agreed to this heinous contract was buying whatever lies the door to door salesman from Vivint told her at the time so she agreed to put it on the roof. Now 3 years after the agreement was signed we need a new roof and Vivint will uninstall and reinstall for $6000! Criminal beginning to end.
Can't wait for the class action lawsuits--I'll either be bringing it myself or signing up right away! Called the team that gave me the quote and the agent said they have no problem installing on a roof in need of replacement--they just have to prove that at the time they install it is structurally sound. Who cares if they scam some elderly people who will need to replace their roof in 1 year? Well, I do and so does every other decent human being who isn't just another leech on society. Later on a "Digital Engagement Specialist" told me to give him a time to call to follow-up. Didn't call me until a week later unexpectedly.
Ultimately, they were willing to give me a $2500 discount on their removal and reinstall of the panels. So I still have to pay $3500 for criminal behavior. Do you think I want them putting holes in my 50 year brand new roof? I'm definitely worried, but maybe my concerns are completely unfounded because they'll never actually get around to putting them back on my roof!

The enrollment period at Sunrun was very easy. Not only was my salesman always in contact, but I heard from the person who was going to do the installation constantly, every week. That was a plus for me. The salesman was also very courteous and knowledgeable. He answered all of my questions. However, during the installation, one of the recessed lightings was damaged. My salesman asked me to send in photos and I'm still waiting to hear from someone concerning that. But other than that, that whole operation went so incredibly smooth. I was impressed with how smooth and how attentive the guys were. As far as the bill is concerned, I got my last bill and it was about a third of what it normally is. I was very happy with that. They sent me a letter saying that the panels were performing at 112% more than I contracted for.

Well for a start I trusted this company right away since they are connected to COSTCO. Been a COSTCO member for a long time. I trust COSTCO so I trust Sunrun their product and efficiency. We were so excited to have our own solar panel installed believing we can really save a lot of money for our electric bill. We live in CA so electricity bill is like $600 the most especially summer time. There was no problem with the installation, Sunrun was quick and installed the panel right away.
Now it’s been like 4 months the panels still not activated. I understand that the City has to inspect it yet before the activation. The very sad and frustrating part is I am already starting paying for the loan for three months now even the solars are not working. I’m paying double $500-600 electricity bill plus $106 for the panels. I asked their office if they can at least refund the months that the solar was not working but they refused. So, it’s like they just get the money from the loan provider and not following up if their product is working or not? This company doesn’t care, as long as they get paid from the loan provider that’s it! They don’t call or follow up if the solar already works.

I filled out information at Costco. I was contacted by a sales rep and we talked by telephone, some text messages, and set up an appointment for an in-house preliminary discussion. The guy that came out had a PowerPoint and some written materials. He asked questions and looked at the property, then we set up a follow-up meeting where he would come back with some proposals. I got my wife involved and we listened to the presentation, then we discussed if we wanted to move forward. So, we moved forward with it in June or July. Once we decided, Sunrun took care of the permitting and they came back with a more accurate description of what the equipment was, what the kilowatt output and input would be, then we'd get some savings and some estimates.
Another group came out and measured the house for the equipment to make sure that we were up to code. They looked at the footprint for the installation on the roof and our attic insulation, and then turned it over to their coordinator for installation who set an install date, and then we had to go through our local power company, which is Commonwealth Edison, as they have to then set up their equipment to make sure that our metering is correct, then have to have the final inspection by our local city Highland Park. We waited another couple of weeks for them to come in to make sure that their equipment could be turned on. In the beginning of October, we got it turned on.
There were just a couple of hiccups. When our city inspector came out, he said that the installers should have replaced some particular gauge of wiring because there was a potential that there could be some ramifications of using that other wire gauge. The installers made the corrections right then and everything got done. Now, I look at my bills each month and I see what the output is, I see what the input is, I see that our kilowatt usage has reduced in terms of what we take from the energy company and what we're getting back. Overall, I'm satisfied and I recommend Sunrun.

The salesman who came out, Colt, was very thorough and professional, and enrolling was seamless. We entered into an agreement after consulting with my wife. We had to wait, though, because I was putting a new roof on and I didn't want to put any solar panels on there until I had the new roof. The opportunity came up to have a new roof, then after a bit of convincing, I got my wife to buy into the idea of solar panels. She didn’t like the idea aesthetically of them at first, but we were able to compromise, move some panels around and make it work.
I knew upfront that it could take four to six months to finally get online with the utility company, and it just happened recently. Other than the amount of time that it takes from start to finish to get things online, everything is great. It was a long, drawn out process, and there's a lot of players involved in making it work, but if anything could be done, it would be to shorten the process. The Sunrun installers did a beautiful job and got out here quickly to have the inspection, then the town had to come out and inspect their work. Sunrun also had to work with my power company to figure everything out.

It took a while for the installation to happen. When it happened, it was sudden. The crew took an extra couple of days to finish the installation. I'm just waiting right now for someone to explain the system to me. The person had come in when they did the installation and they just left. I tracked down the company to have it done to me since it's now up and running. Then there was some type of short circuit. I was away for the weekend. I came back and they sent somebody to check it. The person came and he said he had no equipment so there was nothing he could do. I had an electrician come in and change the circuit box. Still now waiting for someone to call me to come in and to check the system out. I just had to set the machine up and I had no clue.
I understand Sunrun is just a company. There's another installation services company. Then there's another company you had to deal with that has to pay this mortgage bill through. To call someone up, it was very easy to talk to the salesperson in the beginning process. Once the system is installed, I couldn’t get ahold of anybody. There are a few numbers you can call and ask questions. No one gets back to you. When you call, there's a bunch of people you can talk to. But there's no one that can really understand the English language that can walk you through things properly. So there's not only a language barrier but also the timeframe for somebody getting back to you if they get back to you.
If I knew this, I wouldn't even choose Sunrun. I’m paying for a system that I don't know how to use properly or what to do. If I could press a button and have them take my entire system back and I go to another company, I would have done that 100 times over. I'm way below dissatisfied with this company. The worst of any service I've ever had.

I am very versed with solar as I had it back in the late 70s and early 80s. I was in Costco one day and I thought that if they were supporting this company, then I'd go and listen because I don't want a mom-and-pop operation that's here today and gone tomorrow. The representative was very nice but like a car salesman. Most people that do solar is a passion and this was more like a business transaction. But the installment crew was totally professional. My favorite was Anna and she always followed up on any single little thing because sometimes I would try to get ahold of someone and it would go several days, and I didn't hear anything. But anytime I reached out to Anna, she was back with me.
Anna told me they were actually on the stock exchange. I called my broker and he went through the history and told me that I'd be fine. I went to the stock exchange and made an investment in Sunrun because of the company. They're also on the Nasdaq and to get there at the level they are, they're not a fly-by-night company.

We had issues when our Sunrun was activated. For some reason, it wasn't catching solar for over a month. So we received an Edison bill and I didn't like that. It was frustrating because when I called in, it seemed like it was my fault or the system's fault and it wasn't Sunrun. I explained to them that this is the reason why we purchased the system. It should be up and running when we activate it. That wasn't the case and so we were going back and forth with the representative.
We had the technician come out and he was great. He did his diagnostic and found that the software was not updated so the meter wasn't reading. It was frustrating because it took a while. I know that Sunrun is short-staffed because of the COVID thing but I purchased solar so that I don't have to have any issues with a big bill. When you purchase a product, it should be running properly and effectively.

The sales rep of Sunrun was superlative. We had a couple of snafus on the installation. But they came out and they corrected it. The thing I did not like is that they would clip wire ends and leave them on the ground. I would expect that rather than littering my yard with all these dozens of wire pieces, they would have picked them up and taken them away. They didn't clean up. I'm still finding pieces of green wire in the rocks around the area. So when they clipped it, they should have a bucket when they do that. They just tossed it in there. Also, we have a heavy-duty system. We got two backup batteries and we had changed a lot of circuits because we have a lot of stuff going on. But other than that, the overall experience was fine. I was looking for someone that seemed to have stability. If Sunrun was in Costco with a booth, I figured Costco fully vets who they allow to advertise. On top of that, Costco was running an incentive program so that really sealed it for me. The initial person that came out did not make me sign anything but gave me all the information and that worked out. However, I wasn't getting updates at least to what I was wanting. Communication was lacking ‘cause there was a point where I didn't know where I was in the process. No one reached out me. I didn't even know who to call anymore because the sales guy that initiated the process disappeared on me. I shot off a question at some point, but I never heard back. I wanted to go the battery route, but that didn't work out. That was the last thing that I tried to reach out to the sales guy. I asked if we could circle back to the battery discussion but that didn't happen.
At some point, someone sent me a survey on how I was doing. I told them I was really upset ‘cause I didn't know what was going on. After I made known that I wasn't happy, I immediately got contacted and they immediately fixed that problem. Overall, they were very responsive. The owner of the company reached out, and that's pretty amazing. It's really awesome when you have some issues and that person reaches out to you. However, I have seen one bill now where the system has been on for a whole month but I wasn't impressed by the difference. You add your loan to your CPS and it's the same thing. If it's not coming out for less, you're not really saving money anywhere. I'm hoping to be excited later, but I'm definitely not fully psyched right now.

My system ran for a week in the beginning. But then, somebody stole the fuse out of my fuse box. Since then, it has not been working. I got a ticket in and I should have a dude coming by on Friday to look at things, and hopefully, put another fuse in there. There was also some weirdness with the bills. My SDG&E bill was a lot higher than I expected. Then, I checked and was like, “Yeah, that makes sense. ‘Cause, my solar hasn't been working…” So, that’s fine. When I first got introduced to Sunrun, I had Megan and she was phenomenal. She's the one that helped me out throughout the process. What I did not like about the process is having to change out project managers every other month or so. When I would get lost and call them, they wouldn't know and would have to check with someone prior. It was a mess. I got Katrina and she had no idea on some of the information as far as when I was gonna get connected and stuff like that. After that, I got Gracie and she was just lost. I am a very patient individual but every time I would call her, it would go to another representative that would just take messages for her. My frustration came when Gracie would never call me back. At least Katrina would text me or call me back and we were able to communicate.
I was texting Gracie because they were texting me, so I felt that it was okay to text them and ask, “Hey, where are we at in the process, whatever?” She said that there was always a delay on the public service part or a delay on the inspector from Lakewood and stuff like that. She said that public service still has a lot of solar meters to install. I was really behind on when I was gonna get my solar meter. But I called the public service department and they said they had nothing scheduled for me. They didn't even know I had solar installed on my roof. That was a Friday and they came out here on Tuesday to install the meter. When I talked to the technician who came, he said that if I hadn't called, I would have been in limbo because no orders were put in for my address. It was very frustrating with Sunrun. Megan should have been running the whole thing. She knew what was going on.
To this day, I just text her and she's prompt to call me back. When they installed the wiring and the metal that holds the wires and stuff from the breaker box to all the other boxes that they put on the back of my house, they put the bar right underneath my water spigot to turn on and off the water for the lawn. Now I can't get it on because the bar is too thick. I couldn't water my backyard. I talked to Gracie and she said they would get that fixed next year. But then I talked to Megan and she emailed their customer escalation team. She asked for me to receive a credit for the loan payment to have the repair fixed in November.

Please stay away from SUNRUN... Do not do business with them. Their customer service do not know anything. They put me on hold for long time only to come back and say, "I don't have any info and we will call you later". This happened many times. They cancelled appointment for my panel installation the day before. I had to take my time off from work only to find out at the last minute they had cancelled it.
Few days after, "The engineer" guy came took pictures of my electrical panels, roof, ceilings, supposedly for reinstallation work. He said he will put all info right away, all I have to do from this point is to call customer service for rescheduling. I called one week later, customer service had no clue about any "engineer" etc and asked me to call back. Two weeks later today, still no clue. Useless customer services...I am crying with frustration.. I wonder how a big company cunning their customers to this limit..SAD SAD...If anyone from SUNRUN reading this, please stop laughing at your customers' frustration. Please improve your service.

I’ve been wanting to do solar energy services for years. I liked that Sunrun was working with Costco. Costco offered a rebate and I think if Sunrun is being promoted by Costco, then they had to be a great company because Costco would not associate with a not very good company. Enrolling with Sunrun was very easy and straightforward. They called me on the phone. I talked to them and we started to exchange emails. It was all done remotely. The installation was incredibly fast. They pulled up one day with a truck, got on the roof and boom. It took them three or four hours and it's done. Turning on the system was a problem because they had to wait for authorization from the Colorado energy company, Xcel Energy. It took Xcel Energy a week to notify them that our system can be activated. I was not really happy about that but otherwise, everything went very smoothly.
The system has a small glitch where it's tripping a circuit breaker on the electric panel. It's an easy thing to correct, but it's extremely annoying. What I've heard from Sunrun is that this is very common. That's not very comforting. I would hope that they can figure out some way to work with Xcel Energy or their other utility providers, so that the circuit breaker is not being tripped all the time. Otherwise, it was a lovely experience. I went out and chatted with the people who installed the panels, and they were in the business because they wanted to reduce the carbon footprint of people in the United States. They were really dedicated to this. They weren't just hired help. This is a passion for them. So, I appreciate that.

The enrollment experience with Sunrun was great, but there was a lot of misunderstanding at the end. All the stuff that I was told that was gonna work out didn't work out. It took forever to get my solar panels from the date they said it was going to be done. It took longer to get installed. I kind of figured out the app a little, and I noticed that it had dropped. I wasn't generating anything because I guess there was a problem with the box. I did get a lot of help through the phone to whoever I spoke to for all these issues. But still, with my sales rep, he never got back to me. I had to chase him down to talk to him. It's a bad experience. I have two bills, I have a light bill and I have a solar bill. I'm paying $800 for my light bill plus $200 for my solar bill. I was supposed to save money, but I don't see it. I would tell everybody not to get Sunrun.

Enrolling with Sunrun was a very good experience. They said, “Okay, someone will call you,” and somebody called me. They set up an appointment and said, the installer is gonna come. They also said that they will send people because the house that we bought has a pool and the previous owner had a solar for the pool. And they told us that they needed to get that removed so that they could install the solar for the house. The people came on time.
We really like our solar. If I will do it again, I will still go with Sunrun. They have people who would follow up and they would tell me, “Okay, this is what's going on.” Because from the installation to turning it on, there were gaps because there was another organization that they needed permission from plus Nevada Power Energy needed to do stuff. There was a time when I called and I was told exactly how many days I had to wait.

The rep was awesome and he was very knowledgeable. He looked at our electricity bill and our air conditioner which was on the way out to help gauge how many panels we should put on. He said, “We don't want to overproduce, so let's put on what we think is going to work for you now and then after you replace air conditioner, we'll go ahead and look at your system, see what it's producing, and then go from there.”
The installers were very quick and efficient. Where they installed the system was right next to where my office is and I didn't hear them once. They were very quiet and discreet. It took them five hours and there were no issues. There was some sawdust in the garage where they drilled though. Other than that, our experience with SunRun is going alright. I did three units with Sunrun and everything went good. They had to put a new roof on one of the buildings and their roofing company did a very nice job. It was also inexpensive. But I'm having a problem because on one of my units, they made a mistake on the address. They had to reapply with the city and with PG&E, and it delayed it a couple of months. My tenants went to Israel on the 20th last month and before they left, I'm not sure if they got hooked up for autopay. I called Sunrun and asked if they were hooked up for autopay. The rep called and tried to do it but he said he wasn't able to because it had my email address. Somebody else told me it is already set up for autopay so I called in yesterday, but because I wasn't the tenant and the person that's paying it, they wouldn't even tell me if it was on autopay. But Denny, my salesperson, was very helpful. In fact, I referred somebody else and he's just put a deal together for him. That's the fourth referral I've done.

I signed a lease agreement on 06/30/2020 where it clearly states that installation and utility interconnection will be completed within 60-120 days following the execution of the agreement. As of today, Nov. 16, 2021, our interconnection application has failed, and permitting has been denied.
The county code department overseeing our project confirmed that the Sunrun engineers/architects have failed to submit additional documents requested on July 2021. We have written many emails to our project coordinator Joseph ** and called him many times over the past several months with no response or action toward resolving our interconnection/permitting issues. We have made many calls to customer service with no resolve and no consistent attention to this problem. Everyone just keeps passing the ball.
We'd like to proceed with a cancellation of our agreement and have this contract dissolve but they refuse, taking no responsibility in this matter and binding us to an agreement they have violated themselves. I have yet to hear from a supervisor or executive to help in this matter, no resolve as of Nov 16th 2021. Do not give this solar company your business as they will not protect your consumer rights and have very poor service overall.

Sunrun overpromises and underdelivers. Part of the process of shopping for solar is to see how much electrical production each company will deliver and at what price. Sunrun promised that my solar panels would produce a certain level of electricity for a certain amount of money that was less expensive than other providers.
Well, that sure is easy to do when their promises don't represent reality. They didn't come anywhere close to the promised level of electricity production. Then, they promised that they would "make a financial adjustment" to make up for their underproduction. I have it in writing. Gee, guess what? They welched on that, too. What a surprise. They're a totally untrustworthy company.

I looked at half a dozen different companies and one of them uses Tesla but they couldn't get the Tesla while Sunrun has them in stock, which is nice. It didn't matter to me if I have a premium panel up there as long as the warranty covered the panels. It was also important that Sunrun has their own people for installation. However, we ended up having somebody else get involved in some of the installation. There were some issues but Sunrun stayed on top of it. Things get screwed up but how the screw-ups are handled is important and Sunrun did well handling the screw-ups. We thought it was gonna be August that we would produce our own energy but things got delayed as far as turning it on. It was September so we ended up paying a double bill. We paid our solar bill, and we also had to pay the SDG&E bill. Also, Sunrun sells through Costco and if I had done a little bit more homework, I could have gotten a Costco credit.

They took pictures of my house and asked me to move a few things that were near my electrical panel. I sent them a photograph showing that I was ready for the installers to come. They showed up in the morning and they got right to work. They were gone by early afternoon. They let me know that SMUD would be coming out to check the installation. After that, we'd be flipping power on. Everybody was clean and organized. I like the look of the panels on the roof. They said they were gonna be there at 7:30, and they were there at 7:30. When they cleaned up, I gave them paint for the garage. They painted everything that they scratched or had to cut. They replaced the drywall and repainted for me.
They called me up and told me they were gonna turn the system on and what I needed to do. Then we were online. I have a 500-gallon saltwater fish tank and I did not lose power. That was what I was most afraid of. The lights did not dim. The only downside was I was looking forward to stepping up the process. The work was done great. It was very clean and I was happy with it. The panels were in quickly and are running very efficiently. However, I would not recommend Sunrun to any of my friends. The initial experience with Sunrun was easy and pleasant. It did not stay that way, though. They dropped the ball on my project because they contracted out. After I got financed and they installed all the panels, I was waiting for them to send their own inspectors to approve the work and go to the next step which is to contact the energy company that would then give me the approval to use my own solar energy that I've been storing for months now.
Their own mismanagement of time let my project fall by the wayside. I wasn't able to use it for more than two months. They didn't schedule an inspector for my project. I started paying on the system without being able to use it. I was calling weekly for an update but they couldn’t provide me with any viable solution. They assigned a supervisor to my project after I suggested that they reimburse me for the payments that I have made. It took a while but ultimately, I got reimbursed for two months’ worth of payments.

They didn't give us the option to add on this mesh paneling to keep the birds out of the solar panels. We have this nasty bird problem and it's horrible. But there's nothing we can do about it because I don't have a spare $1,000 laying around to pay for to cover the cost of those mesh netting. I see my neighbors with it, but I didn't know that that was something we needed to request to be added on. We could have rolled it into our mortgage like we did the cost of the solar panels, but no one told us anything. It was quite frustrating. We just have to deal with the birds until one of us gets a spare $1,000. But right now, we had to pay a downpayment for this home. Functionality-wise, I have no issues with Sunrun. Everything is running perfectly fine. Our electricity bill was minus $15 this month. Everything else, I'm totally, completely 100% satisfied with.

Costco is where Sunrun had their booth. Costco doesn't just have anybody. They always deal with better companies. They stand behind it. So I knew if there was an issue, I have Costco to back it up. Somebody else had told me that they were one of the ones that they thought were good. I also didn't have to do any upfront money. The salesman was good because if there was anything, I had contacted him and then he jumped on it. There was another guy, they both have the same name. I had gotten confused at the beginning. But they kept on top of it.
It took a little bit longer than I thought it would. But it wasn't a terrible one. It wasn't a year or six months. Once it was up, they had one inspecting company come and then I had to wait for the city. Part of it was because somebody contacts the city to do their inspection and they didn't give the inspector the gate code 'cause I'm in a gated community. We had to wait for them to come back out again because the guy said he came out and the city here is independent to where if you don't do everything for them, then they don't go out of their way to do anything. That might have delayed it a little bit. But I'm just glad that I don't have a several $100 bill every month.

So my Edison bill is currently 600 dollars and I'm in the 5th month of the 12th month so it could continue to rise. The sunrun salesman comes to my home and tells me I need more panels at $69 a month on top of the $184 a month. I said why wasn't I given more in the first place. He said I would have to get a 2nd system installed and would have 2 contracts. I really am so disgusted with them. I have contacted another company that their system would be bigger than the 2 combined with sunrun and I would own it at $152 a month and I could claim the tax rebate. We moved to Arizona about a year ago and I feel that we should do our part to conserve energy. We went solar but it didn't really lower our bills when you take into consideration the loan that we had to take out. We're breaking even, maybe a little less. The other reason we went solar is that if we have a power outage, we need some electricity. My wife is handicapped and we have stuff that's plugged in. We have a koi pond that needs to be pumped. If there are outages, we don't want to not have power. About a month after we had everything turned on, we had an outage and the solar part didn't kick on. I was so angry.
After a day of calling and having no one available because it must have happened to a lot of their other customers, they sent someone out. They said, "The installer didn't turn the battery on." We were going for a whole month without it being properly turned on. I said, "Someone needs to reimburse me for whatever extra power I had to buy." After spending $40,000, to have something as stupid as that happen to me is unacceptable. Sunrun should pay for whatever power I had to buy that month.
The other thing, when they had to install all the panels, they had to move our sprinkler system controller. About two weeks after they did that, I had a sprinkler contractor come in to do some other work and he said that thing is not up to code. They moved that and they didn't do it right. There was bare wire showing. It was sloppy to me. The installers were really nice young men, but it wasn't the quality I expected because Costco usually vets their clients. I trusted Costco's vetting and I didn't see the quality that Costco was saying that Sunrun has. It was very disappointing.

Sunrun has been very good. At the time that they bought the company that we were with, we were getting a third set of panels on our house to help keep the true-up bill down. Everything ran smoothly and efficiently. It took a lot of time, but it was because of the approvals that they had to get from the city and PG&E.
Sunrun calls me occasionally to check up on everything and if I have any problems or questions. I had a question but the last person I talked to from Sunrun wasn't able to answer it. The true-up bill for this year, which isn't due until March, is already $889 and that is a lot. I'm a little concerned as to why am I having such a high true-up even when I've gotten another set. My house is only 2,000 square feet. It's not that big, and we don't have it freezing cold in the summer. Also, if I'd do it again, I would probably try to purchase the panels rather than lease them. My sister recently bought panels for her home and she pays a lot less money than I pay monthly for our house. Her home is a little smaller, though. She pays less than $100, and mine’s always about $250.

My bills are lower and I'm producing a lot of electricity and I'm happy. I don't know how it's gonna go for 20 years. But for right now, it's at least as good as I could have possibly expected.
I talked to their rep yesterday. I went to a lease program rather than buying upfront and there's a deal where I can pay my lease off at any time so that I won't have any bill monthly and it would save me money. I'm going to refinance and I wanted to know if they filed a lien against my house. I called him and he told me right away, "Our company does not file a lien." He gave me the answer right away, but he was gonna send me some paperwork, just in case, for my mortgage.

I liked the way the process was explained to me by the sales rep. He made it quite easy to understand and I felt comfortable with it. Enrolling in Sunrun was easy but to get them to fix the problems that they had created was a nightmare. It's always one excuse after another. I still got a trench in my yard and it's me that's gonna have to fill it out. There were metal parts that were laying on my grass. If I was riding my lawnmower and hit one of the metal pieces, there was no telling where it was gonna go to.
When the inspection was supposed to be done, none of the gentlemen from Sunrun was here. When the final inspection was supposed to be done, I waived it off until everything was fixed as far as the side of the house went. I was missing a boatload of siding. The installers said, "This will be fine. No water will get in there." But in the meantime, it looks like total crap. My boss was interested in getting the service and I was telling him about it before I started having all these nightmares. Once he saw the damage that was done to my house and what's done out in the yard, he decided to go away from Sunrun.

At the beginning, it was great with Sunrun. A representative came and explained everything. The process was very easy to understand. Because I had started early in the year, he said, "You're buying at a good time because a lot of people wait till the summertime then they're upset because it takes a little while for us to get permits." However, the system wasn't up and running until late August. I wasn't happy. It seems that no one from Sunrun knew what the other person was doing. The first day that they came, within one day, all the panels were up. But once the panels went up and that first crew came, everything went south from there. Every time somebody would come, something wasn't right.
They decided to run the electric boxes on the left side of my house because my panel was on the back end on the left side. The first person told me that they were going to need to upgrade my electrical box because it was old. The next guy came out, started on one side of the same side of the house and set up two boxes. Now, I have an electric kill switch and another box. They left and said they were going to send somebody else out. Another person came out and whatever the previous person had done didn't make sense to them. They were on the phone, questioning. We got another person coming and they said, "We need another panel. Your electric box has to be on the other side of your house because we don't want wires crossing over your pool."
The guy that came was very standoffish. He didn't want to discuss anything and seemed frustrated. He dug all these holes then added pipes that ran from the side that the original men had started then started running a pipe up around the top part below the bottom and digging holes. I've got pipes all over the place. He put in a brand-new box on the other side of my backyard. He did his thing, left and nothing was running.
I was out of a job because of covid so I was home. Had I been working, we probably would never be up. Then, they sent two men out and they were scratching their heads. They said, "Why did they put another panel on that side of your house?" There were tons of visits from different people and it seemed like nobody knew what they were doing. At that point, I was complaining to the original guy, Adam, who was a lifesaver. He kept telling me to contact the project coordinator. I would call and email but she would never respond to me at all. But if I would text Adam, he was right on it. He gave her a call and that was the only time she would respond to me. Nobody could give me an answer as to what was going on and why my system wasn't up and running.
Finally, they said they were sending another guy out and they were going to contact the fire department and the city. The guy that came had a box and there were seals to identify each box. When he got here, he was scratching his head and asked, "Why do you have a box on that end and on this end?" He was not sure about where to put the labels because there are so many boxes. The fire department came and said it didn't make sense. It didn't pass. They called somebody else out because one of the persons that came made so many holes. There was concrete showing and they had to patch them. All of the little tubes to run the wires had to be painted in order to pass inspection.
A painter came and he was a very nice man. He patched up where the concrete holes were and painted all of the pipes. The fire department came out again. The guy felt sorry for me and said, "I'm going to go ahead and pass this, but you're going to need to redo on the opposite side of the house where you had the box. You need to do that before the city comes or else the city isn't going to pass it. All you have to do is take a picture, send it to me, and I'll okay it so that we don't have to make another appointment." I was so happy that he did that.

Alina who was my sales service rep was awesome. She was on-point all the time and helped me out whenever I needed her to. It was Russ that had my installation and the set up was great. They were awesome to work with. However, my project coordinator was awful. I was never able to get ahold of her. I would message her like she told me to but she never responded to any of my messages. I had to get ahold of Alina just to get her to respond to me about anything else happening on my account.
I had a girl that was supposed to be the one setting up for the city inspector to come out to do everything. She sent me a message at almost 11 o'clock the night before to let me know that I needed to make sure that my husband or I was home from work and that all of my dogs were put up. That was unacceptable. I work in customer service. I work with patients and schedule surgeries, and I would never call my patient at 11 o'clock at night for surgery and say, “I expect you to be at surgery tomorrow, 8 o’clock in the morning and take off work." I have people that I'm hoping to still refer to Sunrun but those two things put a horrible taste in my mouth. The customer service aspect of that was awful.
There are still some other hiccups that I'm dealing with right now but I've been speaking with Alina about them. We've already gotten our first bill from our energy company. They charged us $130 for our first bill. They’re saying that Oncor is not reporting any energy to them. My system's turned on so I don’t know why my energy is not being reported. When I pull up Sunrun, it’s showing that I’m producing. If I get another energy bill this month, then I’m gonna be very aggravated. Why do I have this solar system if Oncor is not reporting it? The city inspector that came out told Oncor they needed to put a new meter in. I followed up on that many times with my project coordinator who just seemed to ignore me every single time I had to say something to her. That got pushed under the rug too so I don’t know if I’m supposed to have a new meter. I feel like I'm getting screwed.

There were two guys that were installing the panels and they were arguing throughout the whole ordeal. Also, Sunrun was gonna suck the second set of panels out of my mom's checking account and I don't want that. Every month, when Sunrun sends the bill, there's always something that's saying we owe more than what we owe. When I send checks to the exact amount on the bill, they're always trying to get the next month's bill. I don't pay in advance for something I haven't received.

In the beginning, I didn't like the sales rep at all. He just came in here, looked around, got on the phone, and said they were leaving. The crew packed up and left. They gave me no information. When they finally got out here and did the installation, they needed more room on the wall in the garage and didn't tell me that the first time. That ticked me off. They were very unprofessional in telling me what was the problem here. They got it done in one day but it was extremely expensive. It was $24,000 for one day's work and for the solar panels. I should've negotiated that price. I could have saved thousands.
They dropped a big heavy box of nails from the very top of the roof and it went all the way down on the patio roof and broke some tiles, and we found the nails in the bush. I had to give it back to the inspector when he came out and did his thing. He fixed the tiles and that was a good thing. But Sunrun's customer service response and the timing on getting back to me when I had questions was inept. The person I was supposed to be in contact with was very hard to ever respond and I wasn't happy about that. I ended up calling Tesla because I wanted to be sure everything was up and running. They found a few things that we had to do and Tesla themselves got everything going.
Sunrun came highly recommended and back in the past few years when I talked to a Sunrun guy, I didn't know if the batteries from Tesla were a part of the package then. But that was the only guy that was honest in telling me that, financially, it didn't make sense for me, and it didn't. I was very pleased that he was honest about it. The other ones, all they wanted to do was put crap up and be gone with me. Other than those, I'm happy. The July bill was 351, the August bill was 400 and some dollars, and I finally got the new bill with the solar which was $32.

I was trying to look at a purchase and the prices were high. Sunrun had this power-up purchase and it seemed like it might be a better way to go. It turned out to be a lot less cost and it would be replacing the batteries and other units that have less than 25-year life cycles. It would result in a lower cost than the purchase. I worked with my Sunrun rep over the internet and signed documents online as well.
The installation went extremely quickly compared to an experience I had with another company that took forever. With Sunrun, plans were made and I had the person come out and do the flyovers and the inspection. The design was done quickly too. The city permits and electrical permits were all set up and the installation began. Within two days, the setup was done. I like the installation even though there was a glitch on the monitoring circuits and there was an error with rewiring the monitoring for the non-battery backup circuits. On the whole, Sunrun seems to have proper connections and they do professional jobs.

Sunrun presented the information to me in a way that made sense financially. They had a local branch and the salesperson I was working with lives in Vermont. He was wonderful. There were a couple of things that came up that I'm still questioning though. One was that on the initial phone call that we had, he said that if I get someone else to do the Sunrun, I would get $1,400 back. It seemed amazing. But then later on in our discussions, somehow, it was 1,200 and now, when I looked at the incentives, it's 1,000. Those inconsistencies really struck me as strange. That felt a little bit like a sales technique where you say it's this, but then it goes down, and then now I see it’s even lower. It made me feel a little uncomfortable. But other than that, he and his communication were good.
When they came and put up the solar, it was fine. But they hooked everything up and it was up to the local power company to connect. My new connection person kept calling me and asking me if the power company had done that. I kept saying no. I didn't know that they had done that. Whatever it was that they were supposed to connect was up and it was on my house, but I didn't know it, because the local power company never said, “Hey, we did it.” They just showed up probably when I wasn't there.
So, my solar wasn't turned on because I'm supposed to turn a lever that actually turns it on. We went for two weeks with no solar. The communication between the young woman who kept calling me and the power company was non-existent. It was a little bit of a bummer. The Sunrun reps were great people, they were really dedicated and trying to be good at their job, but that they might have been a little inexperienced.

The most recent one was here for a couple of hours and he told my husband he doesn't know what's wrong with it. He keeps having the same error and he couldn't clear it. He said that he needs to bump it up to tech support because there's still an error on my system and it has to do with the batteries.
Also, I had a problem with coordinating, setting up, and people calling me back. Ben was out of the picture when Ben sold the system. But I constantly called him because I was supposed to have someone call me who never did. When that rep finally called me, it was a couple of weeks ago and it was just to say our solar is working. We liked the presentation that was made by Sunrun and that made sense to us. The thing we liked was we definitely did not want to own the panels. We were comfortable with the Power Purchase Agreement and let Sunrun maintain the panels. The installation day was bad because the crew was on the roof for 10 minutes and my Homeowners Association officers were at my door because the installation hadn't been approved. It turned out Sunrun had not run the installation paperwork through my HOA when they told us they would. My HOA was upset and they couldn't find where the paperwork was for the installation. That aside, the actual installation process went smoothly. The crew was up the roof for only three hours and they did a good job.
The app is great to use and the system is making power. Everything is as advertised. It has offset the bill and it's supposed to be 98.6% offset. They put in 31 panels and we are looking forward to seeing what it does in the summer when we're running the air conditioning. We just got our first Nevada energy bill and it came out to about 300. Overall, we're happy with our system and with our decision.

I figured getting solar energy services will save some money, but it really hasn't. I'm dissatisfied with Sunrun. When they installed, they forgot to turn a switch on in the power box and so my oven wasn't working nor was my garage door. So, I called back. They had just left and the guy on the phone was like, "Oh, yeah, we're not responsible for that. You'll have to call a local electrician." I was like, "No, I think they didn't hook something up or something and whatever." Then, they had somebody else call me, and then they sent me a text. I was pissed. I went downstairs, I figured out which breaker they didn't push on all the way, and then the electrician showed up back here. I was pretty unhappy about all that. On top of that, I have seen no savings.
Also, I wasn't told much and I am not thrilled with it. My parents said they saw a huge saving, so that's nice for them but I really haven't and they were kind of stupid when they came here. The guy's an electrician. The light for the downstairs is connected to that breaker, too. They didn't notice that the light didn't come back on. It was a pretty big waste of time. I had to be home several times for them to come out, and they super irritated me, especially on the phone. My bill hasn't gone up, but it surely didn't go down.

Even though prior to that, we needed approvals, but the installation guys were great and super helpful. From start to finish, it took some hours, but from the beginning, they gave us a heads up when they were coming in. They finished everything and before they left, they communicated with us about what the next steps would be.
The rep also told me that this is a long term thing and we won’t see the benefits right away. But so far, the electrical bills are coming down. We had the problem on our first bill because we were double charged with ComEd, our third electric company, and Sunrun. But after that hump, from the second month and the third month, the bill started coming down. It has significantly come down from ComEd's point of view and if we could go lower, we could save more money. That'd be great. All in all, we're satisfied right now and I would recommend Sunrun. The salesman that came explained the right information to me in the way that I wanted and I could understand at my level. And that confidence really what led me to believe that Sunrun was the right company to do solar with. Getting things set up with them was the coolest thing ever. They upgraded my electrical panel and Sunrun covered it. I couldn't have been happier. Everything was clean and the dudes were cool. They were friendly, and they were smiling and laughing the whole time they were doing the installation. It was raining and they still knocked it out. I was talking to my brother, my mom, and my best friend, and I was looking at their electric bill. They're now all interested in picking up Sunrun with and I know there's a referral program, so I'm trying to make that happen.
I work at Home Depot in the business section and I deal with Sunrun employees every so often. One of the things that I try to let them know is that it's very important to consumers as far as sales goes that they have the ability to be able to lease the equipment at a much lower cost. Now Sunrun is not able to do that in Costco because I talked to the reps in there as well. But they are able to offer that kind of program at Home Depot. So when they approach clients to do this, it will be pretty helpful to them. Nobody wants to drop 60 grand on a solar and make payments. That was their best selling point and that was why I signed up with them.
Other than that, they could improve the help and support they give to customers who are trying to choose an electrical provider that would work with them. Their rep, Bryce, told me one thing and I wanted to start looking into it. But it was a little harder to find. They should have somebody else to help customers like me who are not as savvy with contracts and trying to negotiate these things with the electrical company on buying and selling, having it roll over to the next year, or month to month. If someone didn't totally understand that they can get taken advantage of that and didn't know to look for those things, they could blindly sign up for someone.

I couldn’t get my solar to work so I called Vivint and that’s when I learned I needed to contact Sunrun. I called and the guy immediately noticed a problem from my app and advised me that he does NOT see any grid lines generating on my app which he then told me that someone would call me back within 3-5 business days. I waited and no return call so I called sunrun again only to find out he booked the appt under his name (whatever that means).
I called again and We finally got a tech come out and was informed that the installers used a generic wire which prob had a little cut sending the power to the ground and in order to rewire with the more durable wires, the job would require 3 man power to rewire. He also mentioned that the wires will need to be ran externally and that the wires will be visible from the outside of my home since the newest house is already built so they can’t rewire from inside the home. One week later and no one has contacted me. One month later after Pge approval and I still have not generated an ounce of energy. I either need someone to come fix this matter immediately and make sure the wires does not show from the outside of the house, or need a full refund or we may just end up in court. This company totally messed up my first home buying experience. P.S. Mad, frustrated and irritated.

He said he didn't know because he thought I was up and running. He said, "Well, you may need to call someone." I tried to get in contact a couple of times with one frontline representative that I called who said I was up and running.
After that, someone from Sunrun came to my house and he said I wasn't up and running. That's my gripe with Sunrun. I'm not pleased with that at all. I spent more money over the last few months with my electric utility company and then I'm receiving a bill from Sunrun, and I'm not even in operating status. Also, when the person fixed the problem, he just left. He didn't ring the doorbell.
As consumers, we need to be more educated when we have things like this installed and we are clueless about how they operate. We need to be educated more on the system. As a consumer, I wish I would have been better informed by Sunrun on how to know when it's operable and when it's not, and the things I need to look for. The whole process of deciding and the installation with Sunrun ran pretty smoothly and professionally. I was looking for clean energy and potential cost savings in the long run. I looked at Sunrun's number of years in business and the warranty process. It took me about two years to decide for solar panel installation and from signing with Sunrun and getting that installed and needing approval and inspections, it took us about less than three months to go live. I should put additional panels because the number of panels that were put in was based off the history of the electrical usage and they didn't consider about the climate change. So, it’s still kinda lacking and not the full benefit yet. It’s kinda break even sometimes. With Sunrun, I can look at the data as well when it's cloudy, whether the panel’s still gonna be able to receive and generate electricity. That's helpful, which is one of the benefits, too, that I got from Sunrun.

After calling Sunrun they told me it's an additional 3 to 5 thousand dollars to get it done after already spending 38 thousand on this system. I am furious of the issues. I now have lots of bird droppings covering the panels, lots of feathers in my yard, feathers clogging up my ac condenser and pigeons making tons of noises all day and night, drain gutters clogging up with feather bird droppings and twigs due to the nesting.
Come on guys do better especially after being approved for way more than the cost of the panels I would have said yes to bird prevention just like I said yes to the maintenance plan you had offered and haven't done any maintenance to them for over a year I already paid someone over 500 to come and clean the bird droppings off the panels and my production went up by 10 kwh a day now they are dirty again and Sunrun will likely give me the run around as they did before. I advise if anyone does the solar panels get the bird prevention!

We got some information from a guy in Costco advertising Sunrun and thought we should have them come out. The guy didn't do a whole lot except explain it to us and give us a brochure. He was good and did his job. Then, we had another person, Gabriel, come out. He went through the whole thing with us. He was very nice and good.
Our solar panels seem to be working good. When they put them up, everything was fine. Our complaint is I talked to so many people on the phone and we had so many problems with people coming out and not doing what they were supposed to do. One technician would come out and say we're up and running. Then, we’d get a call and they'd say that we're not up and running, that they're gonna have to send a coordinating technician. A guy was supposed to turn it on but he couldn't do it because his arm was injured. They shouldn't have sent him out as that was another waste of time for us. They were very good about letting us know we're gonna have a technician come out at such and such time but it was so frustrating if we kept hearing this. That went on for months.
One technician came out and I asked him, “Now, I'm supposed to be able to get this on my phone on an app, so we can see what's going on.” He said, “Oh, I don't do that. We’ll have to send somebody else out to do that.” I said that I will figure it out myself and I did. It was just too many people in the kitchen trying to stir the pot, and nobody got it made. They were all good in what they were supposed to do but how hard can it be for a person to turn the damn switch on? We could see it, but we weren't gonna do it because that wasn't our responsibility. We also wanted to make sure the right switches were being turned in the right places. There was only one lady that I talked to that really helped me a lot. She was able to do a better communication and she was upset too that things were so complicated.
I really think there needs to be a little bit more management control there because it was very irritating. Mostly because it kept us home. We had to be here when we had doctor's appointments. We wanted to accommodate them because we wanted it to get working before summer. We started this in April. So far, I've only received two PG&E bills that reflect that we aren't being charged for the electric.
We also had a big issue in the beginning with paying for it with Sunrun. They took all the money out of the wrong account. It was $16,000 and wasn't authorized to be taken out of our Master Charge. It was supposed to be taken out of our Costco account but we got that straightened out. We had to wait until they put the money back. Then, I had to do it again out of our Costco Visa account. I had to have our account raised, so we had enough credit to do it. I wanted to just write a check, and they said no because they have nowhere for us to send it. It was better to put it on Costco because then we got a credit for rewards so that was fine with us. The reason the money thing got mixed up is because Costco would not give us 16,000 in credit and would only allow us 13,000. They took it all out of Master Charge, instead of part of it out of Master Charge, and the rest out of the Costco Visa. But I would recommend Sunrun.

Stay as far away from this company as possible. If you are going to do solar, get a loan and buy it. Do NOT get into any deals with these people. Worst mistake I ever made. In fact in September of 2020 I used 1946kwh all from PGE before SunRun at a cost of $368. September 2021 I used 1351kwh… 294 from SunRun and 1075 from PG&E. 595 fewer kWh and my total bill… $205 to SunRun and $247 to PG&E for a total of $453.
For the first year with SunRun, each month my power bill was 20%-40% HIGHER for the same kilowatts as the year before. Not only did I save no money at all, but my electric bill for the year increased by $1,500. SunRun promised a system that would generate just under 13k kilowatt-hours for the year. It barely made 9k kilowatt-hours for the year. But SunRun has a guarantee, right? Wrong. When I called them they have refused to do anything to make things right. Check their better business reviews. They are bad and getting worse.

Sunrun was very convincing on the contract. They had all the personnel to do everything, so it was easy to deal with them. But it took at least four months to turn the system on because the city didn’t know how to do the inspection. Then Florida Power & Light kept asking for the same thing and they said there were some internal problems. So the whole process took more than six months overall. Also, Sunrun had more than one person communicating with me, and one person didn't know what the other one was saying, or one person would say, “Well, you have to tell the other one,” but they didn't talk to each other.

Sunrun's advertisements through Costco were really enticing as a Costco member, just with all the savings that came with it. The transition over to solar was very seamless. The person who I worked with was very readily available via phone and email. They got everything set up for installation on my schedule and what worked for me, instead of me needing to work around what I already had planned. It helped with my time. They were very easy to work with. If we use any power over what our designed solar panel system is right now, it doesn't show any hiccups when it needs to now pull power from the grid, which worked out great for me.
You brightened our day, Neilina! Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. We're so happy you chose us as your solar provider. Welcome to the Sunrun family!

In the beginning, our experience was really great. We were working with a gentleman named David and he was super good. He explained everything to us and how it was gonna work. He was the one that set us all up. Even the installation of the panels went great. When the installers came, they were on time and they installed all our panels right. But when they were installing our backup battery, there was a problem. They didn't have the correct wiring. We went solar in July. From July to the present time, we've had the technician come out four times to try to fix some wiring in our backup battery.
The company that Sunrun sends out to fix in our area has only one technician that knows how to work on the wires on the backup battery. This gentleman was super rude. Sunrun should get more technicians. I would not recommend them. It's very frustrating, from the very top of it to the bottom, and how they handled the situation. We contacted the main people and Sunrun. We also spoke to Michael and we sent emails. It was ridiculous because it seems like it's haphazardly run as a business. Now, the electric bill is coming at $400 because they did the wires wrong. Somebody is going to be responsible for that money and it ain't going to be us.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Daniel. We'd be happy to look into this for you. Please send us a private message with your service address. Thanks!

Another company came to the door and they had a very lengthy sales pitch. They gave me some numbers about what they could provide and Sunrun was cheaper by about $1,200 for the same number of panels. The other company's response was to lower their price by $1,800, but remove a panel, as if they were hoping I wasn't going to notice that in the statement. The whole process with Sunrun was very smooth. I never felt like I was out of the loop. It was very, very easy and streamlined. Everything got installed relatively quickly. Once everything was installed, we were waiting on the city to come inspect the connections before we could go live.
Solar is a passive form of income in a way. Sunrun's Costco connection is pretty nice too. In the month of October, we've only produced more than we used twice. So after this season, I need to reevaluate if we need more to make up for what we're doing. I need to look at the charts to see if we're generating more than we're spending on the monthly loan payments.
Our goal is to make going solar easy and enjoyable and we're so happy to hear that you had a good experience with us, Joshua. Thanks for doing your part by helping us create a planet run by the sun!

Everything was so easy. The longest wait we had is with the electric company. But everybody from when they first came and did the survey, the saleswoman Barbara, was awesome. All the Sunrun part was perfect. I already referred my dad to get solar because I believe we all need to try to save the environment and did want lower electricity. We'll see how that works. So far, it's not that way.
When the energy company put their meter on and we turned on the solar system, of course, it takes time for it to all download the data. So, the electricity company didn't bill us and we couldn't find a bill for a whole month. The bill ended up being $500. So, I had to go on a payment plan. I just got my first solar bill, which was quoted, and it was right on time. But I called energy and said, "As hot as it is, you mean to tell me that we didn't produce enough kilowatts or whatever you are, so you have to charge me an extra 100?" So, that's 200, which we were already paying 255 a month.
We have a computer and I started unplugging everything that I don't watch. It's just my husband and I. We just unplug everything because that's how the energy gets used. Hopefully, it all even outs. Because if it's gonna be 255, then I'm gonna feel bad that I bought it, even though I really want to help save the environment. Also, they said they would call me in a couple of days. So, when I referred my dad, I get a referral fee and he gets a signing fee. He hasn't received that signing bonus, but I received my reward. When I called, they said, "Oh, they canceled it." I don't know why because he's entitled to that $1,500 signing bonus. So, I'm waiting for somebody to call me back because it has been a week now. Other than that, Sunrun was very professional and on time.

The sales guy was pretty cool and he seemed pretty upfront. Sunrun sent a woman over and she was really nice. She was very knowledgeable. My daughter was there when the installers came and she said they were really quiet. It worked out fine. I was very impressed with the people that work for Sunrun. They're normal everyday people. They're knowledgeable and polite. It made a difference. They got me at the right time.

The sales rep was very knowledgeable. The installation was pretty good. Sunrun did all the legwork. But they were wading through all those red tapes, especially when they had to deal with the electricity company that used to deal with me. I’d recommend friends of mine or families to Sunrun. When people can't afford to buy solar panels, Sunrun has a remedy where they can lease it for a long period of time. They’ll provide me with certain kilowatts and not only that, they’ll monitor my system 24/7.
