The rep did a good job. The installers came, did what they needed to do, and they were out of here. The app is pretty good. I like it. My electric bill is $0, which is nice.

The sales rep that I worked with was fantastic. It didn't feel like a sales rep at all. He was like a consultant. He had my best interest. The timeframe went well. The only issue we ran into was that not all of the panels were available on the day of the initial installation. So they had to schedule a second installation, which I was totally okay with. But on the day of the installation, the foreman told me he would notify me when they would come back. Then about two days later, I came home and all the panels were in. So I didn't know they were going to be back on my property, which wasn't a huge deal. But if he told me that he was gonna let me know, I would’ve liked the phone call. My power bill is nonexistent. I pay for the meter and Sunrun. But I’m pulling very little, if any, power from the grid.

I called Sunrun's customer care number, got through right away. As soon as the rep got my address to look up my account, I was on a 5 min silent hold. When they came back to tell me "I am still looking into your account" I went right back on hold, and I was right in the middle of asking a question. Was on hold for 20 min. I hung up and called back. Still not happy.

Sunrun took over my Vivint solar panels and my experience with customer service has been a nightmare. Both my electrical power bill and sunrun are sky high. I contacted Sunrun to explain that every time I start getting unreasonable charges for my power, my past experience tells me that the solar panels are not producing energy as it should. It is common for customer service to denied any issues with production and they stick to the script that the system is healthy.
Year after year, I had to contact them for the same reason. They will refused to send a technician after my initial call or request. However, around 4 months later, I will get a call or message stating that a technician will be coming over to my home to check the system because of some issue. Sunrun is doing that deliberately to charged people's money for poor energy production resulting from an inoperable system, and then, they will not compensate you for the extra monies you have to pay to your power company.
I contacted Sunrun last week and spoke to a woman name Renzi who hung up on me. I sent an email message to described my frustration and my experience and received a response indicating that they will not send a technician because they can't see any issues on their end, however, they offered to provide a QUOTE should I want a healthy system checkup and Sunrun did not bother to apologize for when Renzi hung up the phone on me. I will be reaching out to the Office of Consumer Affairs for my State, BBB and a lawyer. Bottom line, I am not saving money on my energy bills. I live alone in a relatively small house, I work from Monday thru Friday, that is, away from home, and yet, am getting $200 bills.
We're so sorry to hear this, Neyda. We certainly don't want you to feel frustrated. Please send your address and an overview of your concerns to onlinereviews@sunrun.com, so that we can connect you with a Specialist that can help you. Thanks!

I've had nothing but nightmares with every contractor out here, and Sunrun was a breeze. From the sale's end, it was straightforward and Mario made it as easy as possible. Then we were assigned to an agent that handled our file until it was time to install and also to get SDGE to turn on. We were told exactly when they were coming. When they were here in the morning, they knocked on the door, and told us they were gonna be here and what they needed. It took them just a little longer than half a day. Things were cleaned up. Sunrun was so easy to work with.
The only problem I have with Sunrun is I get a million texts and emails, and I don't know how to stop it. It is their follow-ups, which I understand what they're trying to do but I just don't have time for it. I constantly get, “This is how you can do this.” Some people probably want to monitor that, but at the end of the day, I can't control it. So, I could care less. At the end of the month, the sun comes up for X amount of hours and that's out of my hands.
This is awesome, Mike! Your positive feedback is like a ray of sunshine to us. We're so happy we could guide you through your solar experience. Thanks for going solar with us!

The process of getting these Sunrun panels installed took me about 8 months. It took a long time. I had panels placed on my roof and it took four months before it was turned on. Once they were turned on, they were only on for a month before they shut down. After questioning Sunrun multiple times, they said, “No, it's just the adjustment period.” It turned out that since the middle of June, my panels have been off. I've been waiting weeks for somebody to come and turn it back on. So, the service is not good. For a new customer, it just seems like once they're done gaining your business, it's really hard to get anybody to do anything. I'm just paying the monthly bill to finance my panels and I'm not getting any service from it. So right now, I'm not too thrilled.

We signed up in October and everything was supposed to get rolling within a month or so. But it took quite a while. I had a project manager who introduced himself right in the beginning. But I wasn't hearing from him and I started reaching out after a month or so. He told me, "It's held up here." I asked him, "Okay. Well, when were you going to let me know that?" I was about to cancel it. There was a lack of communication in the beginning.
Sunrun sent somebody back out. We had a couple of outages and the backup battery kicked in like it was supposed to. But the lights were flashing on and off in certain areas. The tech looked at everything and he said something was going on with the wiring and that somebody from Sunrun needed to come back out. He told me to contact him if nobody contacted me. I've contacted that person twice but I haven't heard anything from Sunrun. But the PG&E bill is definitely lower. Everything's working. It's just trying to make sure that what I'm paying Sunrun monthly is making it balanced out to where the way they described it when we met with the salesperson.
I would recommend Sunrun but you need to stay on top of whoever the project manager is from start to finish. There was a lack of communication. They were trying to help me get my true-up bill to where I'm no longer paying the true-up bill every year. So I needed the additional panels. But if they told me it was going to be installing to help us save the true-up, and we didn't get it installed until the middle of the year, it didn't really help me.
Thank you so much for letting us know, Lawrence. We're so sorry that this has been your experience and will be sending you a private message with more information about this. Thank you!

We met the salesperson at the end of July last year and she gave the presentation. We had just bought the house and we live in Southern California, and it would be a great investment. It seemed like a no-brainer because of the savings and the price. But after that, it was a terrible experience with Sunrun. We did not get installed until May and got the runaround after runaround. When Sunrun finally got it installed, we thought everything was fine. Also, we had been promised compensation because it took almost a year. Then, the guy had left. We still tried to get that and Sunrun ended up giving us $500. So, that was good after the fact.
About two weeks after we had the panels installed, I got a phone call from a Sunrun person and he said he was assigned to come out to turn our system on. I said that was weird because we were under the impression it was turned on two weeks ago when the reps came out. He said he was told and I said okay. So, he came out and I asked if we would find out the status of that. He said yes. So, he called me back after he had been out. He said that everything looked good, except our backup battery that we purchased was not turned on. He turned it on but it wouldn't have been turned on if he hadn't come out. We’ve only had the solar panels since May and it's been good. So, I'm glad we did it, but it was just a headache dealing with Sunrun for 10 months. The whole process and the customer service was terrible. A friend of mine wanted to see who we had and I told her the story, and I said that I wouldn't recommend Sunrun.

I've never had solar before but I know that without solar, my bills were considerably higher than what I'm paying now. Right now, I have an electric credit with Edison which is up to about $400. I've decided to, at the end of the year, just to grow that credit. The only thing I'm paying for right now is the county taxes that you have to pay for for the utility company. I just moved into the house about three months ago and our bills have only been about $10. I’m very satisfied with going solar. Some of the other homes in the track have had some issues. Sunrun had to come out and they found that there was a metering issue with the solar panels. They took care of that. Some of my neighbors are also experiencing some other issues so, they're working with Sunrun to get that stuff taken care of.

A person at Home Depot had a booth set up there and she exchanged an email with me. Then, a salesperson contacted me and he was very good. They walked us through in great detail what it is that we wanted and what the product could do. Once we signed the contract, there was quite a big delay before we heard from anybody. I tried calling and left messages. The communication was not great but it was also the height of COVID. The whole process began in July but by this time, it's now winter. So, there were delays. Eventually, Sunrun sent engineers who visited the site and a separate crew of people to put reinforcers in the roof to support the panels.
There was another kind of disconnect when it came to the permitting from the city and there were some big delays there. So, it took almost a year to get it done. But we are very happy with the results. We've had two months now with a power bill where Eversource owe us money and the solar system does exactly what Sunrun said. The price that they quoted came in exactly as their monthly fee we pay for the panels themselves and we're selling lots of electricity back to the grid. So, I give them an A for their product, but not an A on their communication.

I didn’t get any type of information or feedback from the person that was in charge of getting everything situated for me for at least four months. It took me reaching out to him multiple times to get any type of information and he never responded to me. So, I ended up having to go through and try and find somebody else to talk to to find out what was going on. So, that was a little deterring as far as trying to recommend Sunrun to anybody else or to recommend him to anybody else that I knew just because of the not great experience there.
The lack of information, as far as how the process works and the different channels and time frames before the system actually goes active, was not portrayed properly as far as when the panels get installed. Also, the process of having to have an electrician come out and the different steps for it and explaining it, that was not anything that was truly explained to me. The way that I was told was that as soon as the panels go on the house, they'll go active same day, which was not the case. The panels were installed in April but they didn't go live until July. So, that was a frustrating experience.
Aside from that, the woman that I had dealt with for the remainder of the time for the installation was wonderful. She gave a lot of information for me and was my go-to person with any questions that I had. Other than the hiccup with the lack of communication, everything else was great. So, I would definitely recommend, but wouldn't recommend the same person that I had dealt with. I would have them try and find somebody else within the company to deal with.

It was easy to sign up with Sunrun. I did not like their customerr service though, and I still don't like it. It's overseas. There is a language barrier, and I wasn't told that I could ask for a person in the United States until after my issue was elevated enough that somebody from the US called me. We moved into the new house and we knew we were going to put solar on, but I went with a recommendation from my neighbor and we had it put on. With the first system that we installed, I had issues with the installers with broken tiles and the way that they installed the critter guard. So, that was my first interaction with their customer service. It took me almost six months just to get them to come out. There was around 18 tiles that were broken. They finally came out and replaced those. I had to paint the conduit myself. That was a rule from the HOA, but they had never done that. So, the first portion was kind of a learning experience with Sunrun.
We had another system installed because we wanted to go up to 128%. An actual Sunrun installer came and installed those panels. We paid upfront for the lease, but the billing was going to the house behind me, which is on a whole different street and address. So, that was my second interaction with customer service, which, again, sucked but we finally got that resolved to some extent.
I recently wanted questions asked because we were getting the same bill that we had last year for this month and it was pretty much the same amount. So, I questioned them about the system and we called our power service provider and they said that the system was underperforming. Then, I called Sunrun and did several emails with them, and they said, from what they see, the system is running normally. So, it's still unresolved. I would not recommend them to a friend. I would recommend Tesla before I recommend Sunrun just because of the problems I've had.
Signing up for the system was absolutely wonderful and I love producing solar. Here in Arizona, the bills are fairly high. Paying upfront for the whole lease is just to cut the bills down, and then we would see our return in five to six years or so where we would break even, and then everything would be all right. But with the problems that I have, I don't think I should have had.
As far as coming and sizing the system and listening to us and looking at what we wanted, our rep was absolutely wonderful. It was the process after that that was kind of lacking. It's kind of lacking a QA. The first installer was a hired contractor out of California and they're the ones that screwed up the roof. They told us that they're a subcontracted contractor. So, the second system I put on, I requested a team from Sunrun that's not subcontracted to do their work. That installation went seamlessly.

Let me start with the positives. My local rep was fantastic. Responsive, explained things in great detail, always communicated changes that were occurring and what step of the process we were on. One time, I got a customer service representative that said they were in California, I don't remember her name... she was great.
Every. Other. Thing. has been awful. I cannot express this enough. I am at the point where we will be seeking legal action against Sunrun. We signed a contract for the company to install 29 panels on our roof. I cannot see the majority of my roofline (2 story house on a hill). Guess what? They installed 36 panels. I am producing more power than I expected. I am paying more money that I expected.
I am called Sunrun COUNTLESS times about this. Asking them to either lower our cost/KWH or remove the extra panels. Lots of run around and lots of no answers. Their customer service representatives are trained to reiterate what you say, over and over again. It is infuriating. One male representative asked me if I knew what a screen was. They broke my contract and are now dodging their error. They owe me a solution and an apology at this point. RUN from this company.

The representative talked to me in front of my house on my lawn and set up an appointment. Then the sales agent came and explained to me how it worked and how the fees were based. It took him at least an hour to do it, and he went over every single point of it. The installation went excellent. They were right on schedule. The paperwork process took longer than they thought. But once they came out, they put the whole system up in a day. They did a nice job. It looked good. But as great as an installation job that was done on my home, Sunrun neglected to turn the system on and didn't tell me.
It was a couple of weeks later when I went to log on to my Sunrun account and it wasn't showing anything. So I called the Sunrun representative and asked what was going on. The rep said that they couldn't communicate with my system. I figured it out on my own how to turn it on. I turned the system on, and it came up. It was producing poorly. After about three weeks, I received a call from Sunrun and they told me that my system was underperforming and they were sending a technician out. A couple of days later, the technician came out to my house and found that one-half of my solar array wasn't wired correctly. After that was corrected, my system began to produce as it was designed.
My system is doing great and Sunrun said it's producing better than what they had intended. But I was still getting full electric bills from my electric provider. Sunrun coordinated with my electric service provider to change my electric meter over to a net metering unit. When the electricians came out, they changed my standard meter and put in a new meter. But the meter that they put in was another standard meter. So I lost over two months’ worth of solar energy. I'm currently working with the service provider to try and get that back. So it's not really a fault of Sunrun’s in that the system is working. However, as a consumer, I expected it to be operational that I would see benefit, and I haven't yet. My electric bill did not go down, but I pay an additional $90 a month to Sunrun. So I have lost money. The electric company came out and changed my meter again and put on the correct meter. So going forward, it should work.

Sunrun had a very knowledgeable sales staff. They weren't necessarily the absolute lowest, but they were within reason to other quotes we received. We felt most comfortable moving forward with them and it went relatively smoothly. The only issue we had was the project manager introduced herself, then I didn't hear from her for the rest of the project. It was a little disappointing, but my account representative essentially acted as the project manager for the remaining portion. So, nothing to really complain about because I was still well-informed. Overall, I would recommend Sunrun. We're very happy with the system, and our energy costs with PG&E have come down substantially.

The process was smooth up until scheduling. Scheduling was a nightmare. They said they were going to come out on a Tuesday between 12:00 and 5:00. But nobody showed up. There were no calls. They rescheduled and it happened again. Somebody came out, but they were late. Then, another time between the next scheduling, I come home from golf and there was somebody sitting out front. I asked him, "Why are you here?" He said, "Well, I've come to do this." I told him that it would have been nice if they would've called. Also, the inspector canceled and I waited all day but nobody told me. The scheduling problems happened at least three times. It wasn't as smooth as when I had the Vivint work done. But other than that, the product works good.
I talked to someone at Sunrun who was very informative outside of my salesman. He missed a couple of times on the logistics too, but explained it to me and how everything worked. Also, I bought a battery and panels and I thought the battery was set up for backup. It is but it's also set up to be used and I didn't know that. I didn't know that I could modify how much usage there would be and how much coverage I would have for backup. I just found that out and if I want to change it, it's going to be a cost. On the plus side, they owe me money so far. I'm happy with that. This time last year, I owe them about 400.

I got a phone call from Sunrun which was done well enough to talk further. A woman came into the house and did an excellent job of selling the system. When they came out to do the installation, they came in a truck and one or two more cars. They unloaded their truck and discovered one broken panel. They're very professional and well-organized. But there were some problems after that with Central Hudson getting them synched up to get the billing correct and getting credit for power generated by the panels. That took me a while to get straightened out. I'm supposed to have access to a system that tells me how the individual panels are doing and what are the current power usage and battery usage. That's supposed to be through Tesla but I haven't been able to get connected with that.

My experience with Sunrun is very good. They installed everything, and it's working. It took a bit longer, but everything was perfect, except the roof people that they were dealing with didn't let me to look on top when they were working. When I went on top of the roof, my gutter lines were full of wood and nails. They threw them directly in there.
I have two electric cars and I'm charging all the time. That was the one increasing my electric bill. My Chevy Spark is small, and it doesn't take much power. It was costing me a maximum of $20 a month extra, but the Tesla, because it has a 347 mile range, it was taking more power. I also incur costs for the AC during summertime and the heater during wintertime. Right now, with the solar, my bills are coming from 150 to under $50. Everything is going the way I wanted. The only thing, the solar panels are getting dirty with dust. My neighbor was painting too, and the paint sprayed over and came on top of the solar panels because of the wind.

I had heard some negative things about Sunrun in the past, but that they were becoming a better company and were working towards improving their customer service. The experience with them was easy and simple. The installation was amazing. It took them three times to come out and re-measure but they made sure it was done right.
When my fridge and my washer were turning off, I called Sunrun to say my stuff kept going off and I kept going under the basement to reset the fuse. I asked if they could have someone come out and check what was going on. They came out and said it looked like it was spiking, but there was nothing they could do. They told me I might have to get an electrician to come out and rewire the whole house. Ever since, I'm still having some issues, trying to move things around and taking things off of sockets. My fridge and my washer keep going out. I had to move a couple of things from my living room to a different socket with a long extension cord and I'm still waiting for an electrician to call me back to try to come out and take a look at it because Sunrun said they couldn't do anything to help.

Everything was amazing. I went with Veterans Affairs for my home loan and Sunrun was one of the services they solicited to me. I went with them because they said they were military-friendly. I purchased in October and it didn't get finalized until June. That was after waiting on the power company, Maryland SMECO, to do their authorization. Besides that, it went smoothly. Sunrun took care of everything for me. Because I'm leasing, the cost is a little more, but that's fine.

He said that because we were in a utilities district as opposed to PG&E, the savings would not be as great. The savings are good, but they're not compared to like a PG&E or private company. But I've been very happy. They originally sent me a design that put the panels on the front of my house and I told them I really wanted the panels on the back. They responded within an hour, had the new engineering done, and got that approved through SMUD. Everything was fine. I was very happy.

We have had intermittent problems with the system since early May and it is now late July. In general, the response by Spruce has been extremely slow and they still have not gotten our solar system working again. It has now been over 3 weeks since their last visit, which did not solve the problem. The response over the phone is that "work has been authorized", but no one has come out to do the repairs.

The Sunrun rep was really nice on the phone and when he came out. He was really informative. He was eager to answer my questions. Before, my True-Up sometimes was over $100 or $200. Plus, with the loan that I took out to get all my work done, that was more than I was paying on my PG&E. So I was really upset about it. After they put them on and they got it running, now I've got a credit balance. I've got a small True-Up now. They ate up a lot of the older True-Up. It was great. I'm at a zero.

The Reinstall and Removal Department said I have to pay $800 and if I want to do it free, I need to contact the Damage Department. Hello?? On March 29th 2022 my solar panels were installed. A week later the town inspected the install after Sunrun sent the form to the utility to replace my electric meter. A month later I contacted my sales person for an update and was told everything was fine and this time of year it takes a while. I called the utility to see and found out that they had the wrong meter number on the form Sunrun sent them. After numerous calls Emails and Texts they finally had this resolved. My meter was changed (I have a friend at the utility and he helped expedite my meter being changed).
OK my system is up and running the end of June and my 1st payment starts on July 1st. My system is rated at 13.8 kw. The maximum I have produced is 6.1 kw so I tried contacting Sunrun (I can't stress enough how many times it takes a week or more for them to get back to me). I found out only one inverter is sending out power and the other because of where it's connected is not. I realized that even if both my inverters worked correctly one is 6 kw and the other is 3.8 kw so the max that can be sent out is 9.8 kw not the 13.8 I paid for, my system on peak days the panels should over produce the 13.8 rating. The lack of caring and the hours upon hours I am devoting to this is the reason for the 1 star. Note I worked in the power industry for 30 years and have electrical experience. I feel sorry for the people out there who pay for something and don't realize that they are being ripped off.

The salesman was good. However, when the crew came out, they broke a couple things up on the roof. When the couple inspectors came out to look at the job they did, no one pointed it out. I went up to check things out after the second inspectors had gone through, and that was when I noticed some damage. Those gentlemen didn't pick up on the fact and it was quite obvious what the damage was. I called the salesman and once he got ahold of it, he was gung ho with it. He had me send pictures. I sent a couple of videos and that was when it had picked up. They came out within a month and had it fixed. The gentleman who did the work was very good.
We're still getting the electric bills though. We're paying almost as what we were before only for the fact that we have to pay the monthly note on the actual equipment. But if you’re gonna use the electric, it's not putting enough back into that. We're not going zero metering right now. It's still using electricity. I’m not getting the numbers that we were told we would get. When they did the numbers to see how many panels we would need, I was told that they were gonna take the numbers up with the renters. Now, it's not covering it at all. They guaranteed us 40 kilowatts a day but when I did the math, that didn't even cover what we paid the year before in kilowatts. It was nowhere near it. There was a very nice picture drawn for us, and it's not paying what I thought it was gonna be. But I'm being told you need to ride it out and get the system going. That way, you'll get a better average. You can't go by one month of the system being on. This will pay off in 10 years.

Sunrun had a very quick response. We narrowed it down to two companies that we were looking at for the panels and Sunrun's prices were so much lower. However, it was a little hectic 'cause there was an ice storm on the day they planned to install. They did the prep in the attic, left the panels in our backyard then had to come back a few days later. Once it was clear, it was quick and easy. The only frustrating thing that we had was there was a part missing and we couldn't see the production for the first month and a half. But once it was installed, it backtracked and showed everything. Once we got that part delivered and installed, it cleared everything up. The app is very easy to set up. It's easy to monitor and see how much the panels are producing daily.

The enrollment process was pretty good. They looked at my bills and they said, “Okay. This is what we can do for you with respect to a lease or if you wanted to buy.” So I looked at the price, how much of a rebate I would get on taxes, and then I did some calculations. I went bigger than I needed to because in case I wanted to put in a pool or have an electric vehicle, I should be able to give me a little more than I’m utilizing right now. But the installation took way too long. That's the only complaint I would have. If I started this process in the summer of last year, and I wasn't turned on till March of this year. I thought I was going to be able to get my rebate last year, but it took so long. I wish that they just said upfront, “Hey, the way things are going now, it's gonna take six months, nine months to get them installed.”
The panels were coming from China, and they had all the shipping problems. The permitting also took a long time. But all they had to do was tell me beforehand, “Here's the timeline. Because of COVID and all this stuff, this is how much things are being delayed because the city isn't going out and inspecting or the city isn't going and inspecting the plan.” But it wouldn't have been any different with anybody else.
They did pretty well with the installation because it rained and we haven't had any leaks. Sunrun is a big enough company to where there's a guarantee and they would have backed the guarantee. If you want to go with the most expensive out there, you go with Sunrun. But they also have a lot backing them up. I knew what I was getting into. I paid the maximum amount. But I'm getting pretty good service from the standpoint that they keep track of me. So I'm happy with it. Last month, it saved me 700 bucks. So I'm saving quite a bit during the summer months.

But there was a bit of a hiccup. When I looked at what my system was producing in the app, it was nowhere near what the max rated output was. But then I later threw together looking at the power generation graphs instead. The solar panels were in fact doing what they were supposed to be doing. It's just that the kilowatt graph was off. So it was more a bug in their app software than anything. I’ve got credit built up on my power bill, so really happy.

Bright planet Solar acting on behalf of Sunrun Solar said to me that the tree coverage would not be a problem and that would be something that I would not have to worry about in fact I would be getting a system that would OVERPRODUCE. Unfortunately for me that was not the case.. In February 2022 I had gotten a Extremely high bill from my Energy company and I didn't understand why.
I then called Sunrun Solar. They informed me that my System had been under performing since November 2021 a Fact that I was Totally unaware of.. They then said that they would send someone to see what the problem was. When the Company came to my house they informed me that the problem was a shading issue and that "their words" it was STUPID that a Company would put Solar panels on that part of the roof. What I don't understand is why a Company that is supposed to help transition homeowners to a Cleaner more sustainable future would be so deceitful. The company Knowing placed Solar panels on my home Knowing they would underproduce.
Going so far as to having a surveyor with a drone to access my home's viability, and again I was assured that the trees would not be a problem.. I have Constantly reached out to resolved and after Months of getting the runaround I was told that I was going to be reasonable for getting rid of the trees. Well I don't have thousands of dollars to have the trees removed and I shouldn't have to.. This company Knowing placed Solar panels on my home Knowing that they wouldn't effectively provide my energy needs.. Besides that I feel that a Company that is supposed to be one of the biggest in the Nation had to know what they were doing and is not a honest company and uses deceit and lies to deceive their customers which is very unfortunate because I truly believe in solar energy. I have contacted service three times and have not received any calls or emails except an automated one thanking me for contacting them. The email said I would receive a call within two business days. It has been over a month with nothing.
The previous time this happened I stopped paying for the system which was the only way I received any kind of response. All in all though with two burnt wires do I really want to have the system repaired??? When will the Sunrun installed panels burn my house down??? The representative was great. But he needs to reduce his caffeine intake a little bit. The guy talks a mile a minute, and he doesn't even take a breath. So things were just whipping by. But I asked a lot of questions. He was there for a while. The process to getting the panels installed and working took quite a bit longer than I expected. But the fact that Sunrun took care of all the extras made it okay.
The installation was great. It took them about a day and a half because the wind was picked up in the afternoon so they had to come back. There was an issue turning it on. Someone gave somebody the wrong seal number. So when they switched it on, nothing happened. But they eventually did send somebody out and determined what the issue was, and they fixed it.
The system seems pretty seamless. The electric company has a usage graph that they can automatically generate on their website and it shows exactly when my solar panels were turned on. It tells me exactly how much energy they're getting from the solar panels, how much is going back into the system, and then the net of those two.
The temperature isn't that much hotter this summer than they were last summer. So I was disappointed to see that my power bill only went down $20 a month from the same time last year. So I looked into that. The usage was up a little bit. It is disappointing to see my power bill go down so little. But the power lady gave me a good tip. In our grid, which is about to go down any second because of the heat, and they're telling people to conserve energy and use things in the evening when air conditioning demand is lower. My power lady said I should do all my high energy, intensive stuff during the day when I have solar available.

I liked that Sunrun had the Tesla battery. The other two companies that I talked to did not. I also felt more comfortable with them because they were associated with Costco. Sunrun's sales rep was very knowledgeable. He kept telling me that Sunrun was the best. His presentation would have been half as long if he just left out that phrase. He was a good guy. I liked him. We had the installation scheduled, and then it turned out they couldn't do it. I didn't find that out until that morning, and I'd already taken off half a day at work. But then, they came the next day. They said some permits hadn't been done.
The solar panels were fine, but then the battery needs a special electrical thing so there was back and forth with that, and that was about two months. So, that went longer than I thought it should have. Since having Sunrun, I don't have any electrical costs. They do charge me $38.75 as an administrative fee, which I think is rather high. I'd like to get a little bit more detail on how the system works because if anything goes down, I don't know anything about it.

I got Sunrun through Home Depot. Their guys run around the store chasing us. The service was good. The only issue I had was that the installers put brackets up on my roof for another panel and that other panel never came. I talked to the guy that signed me up and I haven't heard back from anybody on it. When I called Sunrun, they said they were short a panel. Even the installer guy said they were gonna come back and put one more panel. Come to find out the panels that they put were the right number. But the brackets are already on the roof. I just don't want it to be a problem and leak into my house moving forward. They made pretty big holes.
I’m all sun at my house. Our solar system is new and we've only had two or three cycles on our electricity. The one bill that I saw showed from a month's period that it was running within a day, that the solar created 800 kilowatts, 800 plus, and National Grid had 600 and something saying I used. I figured I should have a credit. But the bill that came for that month was almost the same as it always is, $110. It seems like we’re making the energy but we’re not getting the full credit from National Grid. I’m a little upset at that. My bill was averaging 150 a month depending on the time of the year. Between what I pay Sunrun and what I’m still getting from National Grid, I'm actually paying more. I’m just hoping it goes away. I told my wife that we'll wait for the second month because sometimes bills are behind.

Sunrun was the most prevalent on the internet when I looked. They had great reviews. Although, in speaking to a few people, they didn't give the greatest. Still, I signed the contract that they gave me. They said I could cancel it anytime. I felt that they were a little more expensive, but the offer on the loan is better than Tesla. I did notice that when I wanted to up the amount of power that I wanted to receive, and it would take like two or three more panels, they said, "Okay, we can do that." They did it without any problem and without readjusting the price, so I find it odd that they were able to do that at a moment's notice without changing the price. That tells me that the pricing is fairly high and that the sellers are getting quite a commission.

We had Sunrun's solar installed about four weeks ago, and we're still waiting for it to get turned on because they slacked on getting the permit. I called the township today and they said that, just today, Sunrun called to schedule the township to come out and approve what they've done. The permit's been approved all this time, and the next opening was the 5th of July but they said they'll take the 13th of July. So now, we're pushed another week because Sunrun is too booked up to come out here for my township to inspect it. So, I'm not a happy camper. If I could cancel this contract and get their solars off my roof, I would have that done.
The salesperson told me today, "Really sorry about that." They already got my money. They already got my incentives from the government. So, they don't care about me. They just sell the stuff, and then they just move on. Besides that, they dug a trench in my backyard and it's all open there. They never even filled it in properly. So, I have this deep trench going all through my backyard and somebody's gonna get hurt.

I bought a home with Sunrun solar panels already installed. They work great. We have an electric car (previous owners did not), so I called about adding panels and possibly a backup battery. I was told that adding a battery for the current system isn't an option, but adding an additional system and a battery would work. Cool, so I send them my SDGE bills and set an appointment for the next day.
The sales rep was 20 minutes late, but ok, she apologized. She then said the design team recommended adding an additional 5k system (14 355 w panels and an inverter) for just under $26,000. I asked if there was any particular reason why this was so expensive and she said that she just delivers the offer created by a design team. I explained that this is way above market averages and that clearly a mistake had been made. Perhaps she could re-check with her manager.
I followed up with the following email explanation: "Thanks for meeting with me today. As I mentioned, the average cost per watt for a solar system is running about $2.75 in 2022. Please see this SUNRUN link where they state that it's typically between $2.63 per watt and $3.43 per watt: https://www.sunrun.com/solar-lease/cost-of-solar.
So, for a 4.97 kw system, according to the SUNRUN website, it should be priced between $13,071 and $17,047. I personally would have expected a price of $13,668 for a 4.97 kw system ($2.75 per watt). This is almost half of what you quoted. $26K is more like what the previous owners paid for the 26 panel, 2 inverter, 7.15 original system and that was 6 years ago when solar was much more expensive. Respectfully, do you mind getting it re-evaluated? Would you please get a supervisor to ensure that the offer is correct? I'm a serious buyer. I'd rather just stick with sunrun and not be bothered with other quotes, etc. However, the price needs to be competitive."
Her response: "I indeed reached out to my manager, they said there was no adjustment to the pricing." I've never had a company so disinterested in my business. I'm a bit stunned. I was ready to pull the trigger for a new system and perhaps a new battery. All they had to do was be in the ballpark. I was a golden lead. With a decent offer, she could have had signed paperwork in 30 minutes. I even gave them a chance to go back and try again. No interest. I don't get it. Maybe it's hard to have a different solar company add a new system, so maybe they feel like they are my only option? I definitely won't be paying almost double market rate and adding a battery on top of that. I guess we'll see if another company will touch it. If not, I'll stick with what I have. If you are also looking to add more solar power and/or a battery back up system, I wouldn't bother with Sunrun.

I have been a Sunrun customer since 2014 and would not recommend it. My system has experienced continued problems, and I have to call to have it repaired. If I were not on top of it, I would lose the value of solar energy because they have never notified me of system failures. Their performance guarantee is a scam because it's on a sliding scale. For example, my solar has not worked since June 17th, the most productive time of the year, and they can't send a repair person until July 21st. I will be missing out on solar power during the peak producing times of the year. My system has been producing more solar energy than expected, so I am losing out on the extra production because of a long wait for service. How does this benefit me?
This is the second summer in 3 years my system has been inoperative for weeks at a time. Please don't get involved with this company unless you can continually check your system for production and have hours to spend on the phone with customer service. I have had nothing but problems from Sunrun. The point was to reduce my electric bill but since the start we have been paying $1000-2000 at the end of the year to our electric company on top of the $190 a month. Today we are at $300+ a month to electric company, with no change to our electric use habits from the start. Now I have been dealing with a leaky roof ever since it was installed the past 3 years because the tar and gravel is not sealed to the brackets correctly. They did send someone to patch some issues but it never fully got resolved. Their roofers stated we needed a new roof. Well if that were the case then Sunrun should remove the panels for free and reinstall them so we can add a new roof rather than charging me $3,500. It clearly states that our roof must be less than 10 years old to install the panels. We moved in 10 years ago so did not know how old it was clearly, their inspectors were wrong when determining the age of our roof.
I have since then had local roofing companies do an inspection and they all say the same thing 15 to 18 years old minimum. I have simply asked that they pay to remove it so we can install a new roof but has declined to help. So I am now hiring an Attorney to fight tooth and nail not only to have the whole system removed but to pay for the damages to the walls from the leaky roof, to the black mold behind the drywall that has caused severe illness in my 5-year-old at the time of the leaks, to all the overage I have been paying to the electric company since I started this whole fiasco. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY TO SAVE YOUR LIFE. THEY ARE CROOKS.

The Sunrun sales rep that we had was really helpful but then I found out he left the company and that there were a lot of things that he said that weren't true. So, that was a little bit disappointing, but I ended up speaking with his manager who was very accommodating. He couldn't really account for the things that my salesperson said, but he tried to accommodate. So, I was pleased about that.
Also, the information provided on the contract in terms of what you get back from a tax perspective is not accurate because they include all of the monitoring and warranty, and that cannot be put as part of the taxes so you cannot write that off in a tax. You can’t get the rebate for that. We went back and forth with them. They said, “Well, this is how we do things. And we can’t guarantee what you get back in taxes.” I said, “Well, it's not a matter of what I get back in taxes, but it's a matter of what you put that we can potentially get back. And that was inaccurate.” I had to try and go the hard way and I’m not happy that there wasn’t any recourse for the tax part of it. My accountant was very clear. He said, “I wish I had checked with them beforehand.” That was my fault, so I just let it go. In terms of the solar though, I'm liking it. My bill for APS has been negative, which has been wonderful even in this last month. Also, I like the fact that I'm environmentally conscious.

The sales rep was super great, and she was the best part of the whole thing. All the inspections were handled beautifully as well. We got to the install and on the day that they came in, they told us that the electricity was going to be shut off for some time. Something happened and they tried to get in contact with our electrical company SMUD. Our electricity didn't get turned back on, and it was very cold that night. We had to stay in a hotel, and Sunrun paid for that, which was fine. It was just an inconvenience. We also got into some trouble when we didn't pass inspection. There were supposed to be certain stickers on the control panels outside. When they did the install, even though it took them two days, they didn't put the stickers on.
Weeks and more weeks went by, and I still didn't hear anything. I tried to reach out to our service person at Sunrun. When I finally heard back from her, she said that she was sorry for the inconvenience, but there was a reorganization within their company. Our case was sent to somebody else, and I emailed her and didn't hear anything. That was a level of frustration. Finally, I reached out to my sales rep and she took care of things immediately.
I heard back from my internal customer service person and she said that she was really sorry. Things started rolling again and we've had great service after that hiccup. Sunrun made it right. The rep also said that they were going to send us $250 as a "We're sorry that this took longer than anticipated because it didn't pass inspection, although we've not received it yet." Right now, we're in a special. We are six months for $1 a month and I don't mind paying $1.

Everything went really smooth and the Sunrun installers did it in a day, which was pretty quick. I'm still making my monthly payments, but all in all, in comparison, I'm saving money now. I've already noticed my PG&E bill is really low. If I didn't have the solar panels, my bill around summertime is normally $200. My last PG&E bill was 90 and another one was 50.

Initially, it was a very good experience. Fast contact, got started real quickly after contract, and then permit phase was very poor in communication. However, once everything was cleared and we were good to start, installation went quick. I had no problems at that point, and I'm very pleased I got solar. I haven't paid the electric bills in three months now. It's been very nice.

We were thinking about getting air conditioning and we were afraid the bill would be too high. I went online and filled out a questionnaire for it. Sunrun was one of the people that called us and I remembered I saw them at Costco, so I went ahead with them. Then, they came and gave us the estimate. They approved the credit and they waited for us to decide to go ahead with it. Within a week, they came by and they looked at the roof. They took measurements and looked at the side of the electric panels. They had to apply for permits from the city and the electric company. That took a little bit of time.
Then, they came and they installed it. The installation took one day and it was on a Saturday. They were very polite and they cleaned up after themselves. I'm pretty happy with Sunrun. We had a blackout about two months ago and we were the only ones in the neighborhood that had electricity. That was during the wintertime and it was really cold but the heater stayed working so we were very comfortable.

The sales process was really great. The reps were very communicative and gave me a lot of information. Some of the information wasn't exactly correct but I was really excited at the time, because one of the things they said was there's a tax rebate and it could be applied immediately to my loan. They’d take care of the paperwork and it would come off of my loan. After I had the install though, I saw the loan was for the full amount. I contacted the loan people and Sunrun, and everybody said, “No. You're supposed to fill out this paperwork and it has to be done when you file your taxes. And that's the point when the money will come back to you if you actually qualify for it. And then at that point, you can pay it towards your loan to get a lower loan amount.” I wasn't that pleased about that section of it.
The install itself went really fast and everybody on the team was super nice. They gave me a lot of information as well. It took a bit of time to get up and running with utilities though. After I got installed, my system was not working for over a month. It worked for one day then I had nothing on the app. I contacted Sunrun and discovered it's a little hard to deal with customer service. There's a lot of different departments, and I kept getting shuffled between them. It took a month and a week after I initially contacted and told them what was wrong. They got a tech out pretty fast to look at my system, and the tech said, “Oh, nothing's wrong with your system. There's something wrong with the app itself. And your system is connected possibly with the wrong app.”
It was a month and a week after that tech left before they fixed the thing on my app. Nobody contacted me or followed up with me. The app just started working one day, and I contacted Sunrun a few times before that. Everybody I spoke to was very friendly, but every time I contacted them, they said, “Well, it's being looked over by that department and they're going to get to it. It's just taking a little bit of time.” It was a lot of time in which things weren't going well though. Even though they're very nice, they're not able to fulfill the technical side of their job as well as I would like. However, everything is straightened out now. I've had access to the app for two weeks where it's been showing me updated information on my system, and everything has been corrected.
The sales portion was one of the most pleasant sales experiences I've ever had when dealing with a company with updates. I'm also very pleased to have solar. I'm looking forward to what that's going to do with my billing in the future. I was told that Sunrun has a department that allows upgrades later on, so I feel satisfied with the fact that I'm going to be able to get the system updated with what I need. Because when it comes to the installation side of things, they're great.

The sales rep, Tom, was spectacular. He really laid things out in a way that I could understand and that was believable, and it was not a sales pitch. Also, 80% of the crew that came to install was really good. They knew what they were doing and they were doing it. A couple of them were a little too young though. It's like maybe Sunrun hired them up off the street. Not that bad, but I don't expect them to be around Sunrun much longer, if at all.
My electric bill for September to April would average anywhere between $100 and $110 a month. When it comes to May, June, July, August and parts of September, my electric bill would run anywhere from $250 to $300 a month. I bought three Tesla batteries from Sunrun, and now, I noticed my bill is only $32 with tax. I'm happy, and those batteries are precious. I also felt like a valued customer and I wish Sunrun the best of luck.

Sunrun did a good job. They took a little longer though. The communication was a little bit wonky. I had thought it was gonna be done before it was, but it wasn't that bad once they got it going. The process took about three months. Once it was installed, they had to get final approval from the power company and an inspection, which I didn't know. So, the thing was just sitting up there for a month and I was wondering why the bill hadn't gone down. Finally, when they came to do a final inspection, then they let me know. So, there was just a miscommunication on that. But all in all, things have been pretty good. The bill's been pretty much what it was supposed to be so far, so I'm pretty happy with it.

We knew we would need a new roof withing a few years and were told it was a single charge of $1000.00 to have them removed and reinstalled. We just contacted them to begin the process and are being told they charge $170.00 per panel, at 29 panels that's a cost of $4930.00. Sunrun's installation crew was good. The only thing that we ran into is that they hit one of my thermostat wires, which then they snipped accidentally. I had to get an electrician to come and fix it, but Sunrun ended up paying for that. It was just kind of a pain because I lost the ability to control my heaters in the dead of winter. They paid me back but it was still super annoying. Other than that, my monthly bills are way better than what Sunrun told me that it was gonna be, which is awesome. Updated on 06/23/2022: I wrote on here how Sunrun would walk me through everything! Well they did not, they damaged my new 2022 car in November and it took over 30 calls and then me calling Costco! Then I write in here how they do Business and they sent me an email. Told me to call them or email them to help make it right. Well I called and I emailed them. Well they did not return my calls or my emails, I did not think they would. So I did send them a copy of my electric bill they told me I would never get. My electric bill is 208.00 for 28 days and my Sunrun bill is 128.00 dollars so that is 336.00 for one month and they told me with solar I would get very little electric bill if any!!! I guess they forgot to tell the electric company. Well look for more updates if any. Thank you. Jerry **
Original Review: My experience with Sunrun was not very good. I purchased their product in August. They put it in the first week of November, and I just got it turned on about three weeks ago. So far, I've had an electricity bill, which I had told I would not have. So, that was one thing that was told to me that so far has been wrong. Reliance had sent me a daily thing showing what my cost is. I'm averaging $5 and some odd cents a day. So, the price that I'm paying for the solar panels and the price I'm paying for the electricity are about what I had been paying without the solar.
I paid $20,000 on my solar and I told them to keep drawing the money out so I can get them paid off. Then I noticed they didn't take a payment out this month. I called them and asked them why, and they said, "'Cause you made a $20,000 payment." I said, "I told y'all." Also, you don't talk to anybody in the United States. I'm not doing business with a company that cannot do business in the United States. I don't understand them when they're talking, and they don't understand my questions because they are foreigners. So, if you can't explain it to them in their terms, then they don't understand the question. I am not happy about it. I would not do it again and I would not recommend Sunrun.
Another thing that Sunrun told me was that as soon as it was installed, a man would come to my house, walk me through everything that was gonna go on, what was happening and how my billing would be done, and help me pick out a utility company. All I got was an email stating that the panels were up and running. I called them and said, "Is somebody gonna come out here and explain anything to me?" They said, "No, ma'am. You just look it up on the website." I said, "No. That's not what I was told. What power company do I go with? Who would be better?" They said, "Ma'am, you have to choose that."

One of Sunrun's salesmen, Adam, stopped by the house and gave us a proposal and it looked good. Signing up was easy. The installation didn't go too well because, first, they showed up late. Second, when they showed up here, they started working two hours after they showed up because the electrician was having some doubts on where he was supposed to put the box that Sunrun connects into the house. It took him two hours when he was getting clarification from Sunrun's office. Once they started working around 1:00 p.m., he told me that they had to leave early because their project manager called them that they had an emergency on the property that they did prior and they had to go fix it.
I called Adam to let him know that the crew was leaving, and he called somebody who called the installers back and told them to stay. So, I was told, “Oh, yeah. We're going to finish the work.” “Okay. Cool.” It was supposed to be four people on the roof plus the guy that was doing the electrical work. When I went outside around 2:00, for my surprise, it was only one guy working on the roof and the electrician. So, I asked him, “What happened with the rest of your crew?” He told me, “Oh, they went to the other house.”

I get a bill from SCE every year for $650-$1,000 for energy I had to purchase from them because my panels are not producing what they should. I'm truly happy with Sunrun. Everything went well. The initial sales representative, Brian, commandeered the entire process. There were a lot of dropped balls so to speak from the project managers and it was Brian that straightened everything out and made everything possible. The process took a long time to go. Brian actually gave me a Sunrun gift card because I was at a point where I was saying, "This is ridiculous. It's taking too long." I just wanted to put an end to it. He was like, "No, no, no. Just give me a little bit of time and I'm gonna send you a gift card." I was very grateful that he really cared and that it was important for him to see this through. He did go above and beyond what he needed to do in order to maintain that relationship that I have with Sunrun at this point.
Going solar was one of the best decisions I've made recently, and I only see good things happening because I see more and more people reaching out with the realization that there has to be a solution to these exorbitant prices. Being at home, me and my girlfriend are constantly using energy. My AC has been going and with the use of solar, it kept and maintained a nice, comfortable 70 degrees. Everybody's happy in the house.

Enrolling with Sunrun was a pleasant experience. The reps walked us through all the steps. We didn't feel pressured and didn't feel like we had to make a decision right there and then. We were given a lot of information to do our homework, and they let us make our own decisions but with correct information. The information we previously received from other companies talked about numbers but didn't talk about the panels, the longevity, the company's reputation, and how they started. That's also important for such a big commitment financially. The installation took a little longer but it was due to COVID. There were a lot of stuff going on when we were ready to move forward. But the guys came and knew what they were doing. They were informative and would allow me to ask questions and get some information. It didn't feel like they were unreachable.
As a wife, we always get told by our husbands to stop using water and too much electricity. But we’ve been able to use the AC and run our Jacuzzi, and financially, we can do this now. We have a high usage in the summer. But we have a Jacuzzi that we run 24/7 to keep it always ready for us. And we are planning on purchasing in electrical car. We wanted to plan ahead, so that could also be a benefit to us.
We did our taxes as well and my husband was very pleased with what Sunrun promised us as far as the tax credit. We haven’t got the rebate yet but it’s still something that’s taking account, and it’s real. We thought we were gonna have to struggle and go back and complain. We were a little leery on it but it turned out very well. Everybody wants solar but people concentrate on the big dollar amount instead of what they’re saving long-term. We used to get a $400 electricity bill in the summer but we’re not stressing out this summer. And we got our first credit from Edison. So, I’d recommend Sunrun to everybody.

I don't normally leave a review like this but it's needed at this point. End of April my autopay failed for some reason (according to Sunrun website) so I did my due diligence to pay so it was not late. Next day, both autopay and my payment were coming out of my checking out. I called immediately and spoke to Camila who told me I needed to wait for both payments to post to request a refund for the duplicate payment. Next day, payments posted, so I called again and spoke to Quincey who told me they will open a case to request the refund but will take up to two weeks. He did not give me a case number or a contact phone number or email for follow ups because he stated he would email me. I never received the email he claimed to send, so I called multiple times again and finally received the case number and each person I spoke to said that Quincey ** was handling my case.
I asked to speak with him and they stated they do not have an extension or phone number to transfer the call directly to him and instead gave me his direct email. Since no customer service representative on the phone or website chat was able to assist me, I sent numerous emails to Quincey requesting an update on my case because I needed my refund to pay other bills. It has now been over two weeks since the initial contact when I was told I would get my refund and have not received any update, I have not received any refund, and no one is able to give me an answer. Not even so much to tell me that my case was closed for whatever reason.
They do everything they can to avoid giving you an answer and now it's to the point that my next bill came out and they are refusing to give me a refund because it's paying for the next bill. Even though I requested the refund before the bill was generated. Sunrun was not a choice for me, the house I purchased already had the solar accounts and we took it over but it is definitely not a company I would suggest using. I didn't get the information back from the sales representatives that I was hoping for, and I ended up getting routed into a lease instead of a purchase. I wanted a side by side comparison of lease versus purchase, and it was a pretty hard sell into getting me into the lease, which meant I didn't have the tax incentives or promotional incentives from Costco. On the other hand, the installers were terrific. They were in and out in a day. They took good care of my property and did a good job on the cleanup and staying out of the way of what I needed to do. They were very courteous during the day.
My big problem with Sunrun is after sales support has been extremely bad. I can't get callbacks from them, and it's where they've really dropped the ball. I was much happier with them going into this than I have been since everything started. Still, I like that I am having less impact on my carbon footprint, and I like that over the long term, I will save money. Right now, it's pretty cost neutral with what I am spending for the lease versus the amount of money that was going toward the energy company. The long term cost benefit is where the best value is. The amount I'm paying now will stay the same over the next 20 years. Where if I was continuing with the energy company, it would continue to be more expensive over time.

The process with Sunrun was a little bit bumpy when the final process was completed. But it's good that I'm creating power here. But I have been talking to my brother because he has an existing home and he wants solar bad. The cost for him to get it has been too much for him though and I was explaining to him Sunrun has programs if he wants to lease. I explained the options and the differences between leasing the solar versus buying the solar. So, hopefully, he will get Sunrun or solar one day.

Other solar providers wouldn’t promise that. I’ve been happy with Sunrun. Since going solar, I've been looking at the solar productions and my power feed to the great every day and it’s amazing.

Christopher was a very, very nice gentleman. He told us about the tax incentives. He indicated that there was a $12,000 tax incentive based on the $34,000 cost. He said, California right now has a blank rebate. Then he told us about the other stuff. If you buy a battery, you can use the battery at night or when the power goes out. I said, okay and that's good. He gave me some examples. The system went up. The way they did it was flawless and beautiful. They were very quick. We were informed.
I love the product. The solar panels do what they are supposed to do. The battery does what it's supposed to do but Sunrun gave me the wrong information. There's an app that they had me download, and it shows that the battery discharges. In other words, it empties out every day. By about 9 o'clock, maybe 10 o'clock, it's gone. He said that it's normal that it's emptying out and that it’s being sold to the electric company. They lied to me to sell me the battery.
Also, there was the bait-and-switch with the rebate. They were very misleading with the information regarding the amount of the rebate. But that information was readily available on their website. All they had to do was go to their website and say, “Oh, it says here, based on the price, the State of California will give you 7,500.” My wife and I were really adamant about getting a solar system. So it's very likely that I would have gotten the solar system. But they never gave me that opportunity.

Sunrun was very efficient in putting the panels up and getting here for the permit with the city. They cleaned up but stepped on some plants that they broke. Other than that, they've been good about being here on time and working with the city. Sometimes, they had new employees that were meeting this inspector from the city. Three times, the guy was here, and it was a new person that was meeting the city inspector, so he didn't know certain things. I told him, “If you're new, you need to find out from your company what's expected of you so when you come here to my home and I'm here and the inspector, that you don't waste our time. But as far as the installation, they're trying to reach out to me to talk about the panels and how to take care of these. As far as the billing from Southern California Edison, I've got a credit. I've got more electricity than I'm using and my bill is very low.

I did Sunrun in San Jose and it was a bad experience. It was not so much with Sunrun itself but it was just what I understood. When I was in San Jose, the promotion that they were doing was to give you enough solar panels that keep you in a certain tier. When I would get my true-up, it was horrible. We moved to Gilroy five years ago and when they would come to our door, I would slam the door on their faces saying I wasn’t interested. My sister had gotten Sunrun the first time in Morgan Hill and she had the same experience. She moved to Gilroy and she got them again. It's been a good experience for her so I decided to do it again.
I spoke to Sean at Sunrun and he spent two hours with me on the phone when I first called late at night. He assured me, “No, it wouldn't be that way this time.” They're gonna make sure that this time, we would get enough panels to offset what we do. It was true. My husband passed away on July 1st and my kids moved in with me. It was good timing that I reached out to Sunrun because with my grandkids here too, so we use a lot more electricity than when it was just my husband and me. It was good that we are able to get a true pulse on what we are doing. Sean made sure to get it all right. I have enough confidence in Sean and he’s been great throughout the entire process.
It took forever when we first started it to even get the solar panels installed but it was not Sunrun’s fault. It’s the way that it all works. It took even longer to get it finally to start because of PG&E. Our system is very new and it’s working. I did the Powerwall and that's the most exciting thing. I know that when we have a loss of electricity, the majority of my house will still function. That’s a huge plus. Sunrun did a great job.

Sunrun’s service just started to work and it’s only been a month and a half that I’ve been out of the bill. But it looks promising. I don’t know if it keeps like that though. If it charges for the whole year, it would be good.

The installation crew was phenomenal. They were respectful of the property. They got to the site and there was kind of a on the fly redesign they had to do in terms of some available wall space on the house. Instead of just telling me they couldn't do it this way and they had to do it that way, they figured out if they could make it work the way I wanted it to look. They got it done when they were supposed to. They worked hard and were very relatable.
The panels were installed the very end of the year last year. We've had it about three months now and the bills have been low. My only disappointment is that we did two Tesla battery wall packs and I wish I would have done three. We designed it for 150% of our existing usage. But we're just finishing up a pool project and we're gonna have a heater on that. We can run the heat when the sun's out and the two batteries most of the time will carry us through the night. But when it's cloudy and the batteries don't get charged 100%, we're having to pull from the grid. Sunrun told me that I can't add another battery with the way the current law stands, which is so frustrating to me.
At the time you're doing it, you don't know how much a battery is going to hold. I was kind of under the impression that two batteries would carry me for a few days assuming that even if it was cloudy days. I was also under the impression that I could continue to add on to them. But it's not a major deal. My bills are $30, $40 a month which used to be 350 a month. It's significantly less.

They kept coming back to complete things that they had thought they completed but hadn't. It took them a lot longer to get started than they thought but they never gave me an explanation for why that was. They just kept saying that they needed to get clearance from the local electric company. I was quite upset with them. They kept making promises. I leveraged my Costco membership to reach out to Sunrun. It was a quick meeting with someone coming over to the house and doing an energy evaluation. So, the enrollment was quick and a fairly seamless process. The person who helped us with the energy evaluation was very knowledgeable about the company and about solar energy in general. It felt like a good interaction, seemed very honest and clearly represented a reputable firm. The salesperson was helpful in helping us to coordinate the installation and was there as a support person throughout the entire process. The installation was quick and painless. We didn't have a lot of interaction with the installers. But they did a nice job.
The main frustration for us was that shortly after we installed, Duke Energy, who is our electricity provider in Florida, instituted a minimum charge on electric bills, which was frustrating given that that wasn't information that we had known prior nor had expected. So, that impacted how we think about the payback period for installing the solar and is a disincentive for clean energy to persist and grow over time. But beyond that, we have a good understanding of how to look at our bill and the positive impact that probably solar is having not only on us financially, excluding that Duke Energy annoyance, but also doing good in the world. We're excited to be doing a small part to help drive towards a greener environment. And so, in that respect, working with Sunrun has impacted us.

We've had the solar panels for three months and we are now experiencing the full effect of it. I just got my electric bill and it was only $26. I love the lower monthly bill. I have to pay Sunrun for the panels because I don't have it automatically taken out. My bill is usually 80 a month, which is fine with me because there's always somebody home at my house. My husband and I take care of his two brothers. So, there's always somebody using electricity. If it's not the TV, it's the lights going on and off. They're like children. So, even if I'm only paying 80 a month because that includes the 70 from Sunrun and whatever electricity we use, it's still cheaper than if I didn't have it.
I would recommend Sunrun to everybody. I don't know why everyone's so afraid to get solar panels on the roof. Last week, we had a wind storm and I cannot believe that Sunrun installed those things so well that they didn't fly off my roof. That's how bad the wind was.

We're still waiting for the certificate so that we can sign up for the monthly incentive portion, which I don't know if we've received that yet. The installers had to make some corrections during the initial turn-on process, where they didn't pass the utility company inspection. So, they had to go back and redo all that and that was a little bit of a setback as well. But overall, once the system was running, it was running. We're utilizing Sunrun but PSEG still has to be paid because we get gas with it. I understand that. We'll be able to get a better understanding how Sunrun is working for us once it starts running fully and we see how the PSEG bills are. But overall, it will be a good thing to have right now. The last bill was $600 and now, it's only 200. So, there is a significant improvement. Long-term, that's the good process and we'll start seeing the benefits.

The power part was so variable depending on the month of heating or air conditioning that I wanted consistency and this provides that. The whole experience was a downer though because it took so long. Sunrun came out to me in August and I signed the contract. It got approved and installed in December. So, it was a six-month process and I thought it would be a one-month process. So, that was a bummer. But bulk of that was on Glendale. Sunrun was good at texting me updates during that long waiting period. They sent me a text at least one time per month and would even send me a text and say they heard nothing from Glendale Water and Power and that they were bugging them and that there was no update other than letting me know that they were still on top of it.

The sales rep was proficient at what he was doing. He wasn’t trying to oversell me for more than what I needed. He was great. I was initially paying about $95 for energy because it was cold. But now, it has gone down to 13. I just have to pay the $100 for solar panels. So, that should count. But let’s see how it does during this summer. People should give Sunrun a try and see how they like it.

My neighbor has solar and recommended it. It looked good to have. Sunrun installs the solar system. Don'tmake the big mistake to install it in the winter because you won’t see the benefits. Install it at a good month when there's really a lot of sun so the customer can see the benefits. The customer at the beginning will get double-hit. That's when you lose your money. When mine was installed, that wasn’t activated correctly. Another technician came out here and he started it up all over again. There was a little gap but was okay.
The guys who did the installation were magnificent gentlemen. They represented themselves well and they knew what they were doing. They did a very neat and clean job. Sunrun did a decent job on the whole. The first time they came over to install it, they were going to give me almost 35 panels. They're gonna put it at both ends at the roof. But because I'm gonna raise the other side of the roof, I told them to do just one side. They give me only 25 panels. When I raise the roof, I would like to have them come back, install the extra panels in the new roof and keep the same price.

Started the process early February, it was smooth at first. It is now mid April. I was contacted by a work coordinator and told any questions I may have will be answered by him or by my sales rep. After countless emails to the coordinator, who by the way seems clueless as to what's going on, I still can't get any answers. The sales rep will not return my messages. This is so beyond frustrating. I was told they were the biggest and best in the country. If so please get your act together. I have little confidence in Sunrun or their work, because of the poor service I am receiving!
At this point I'm looking for a way out. All I had was a few simple questions. 1). When was work going to start on the next phase. 2). Can I pay for additional panels to be installed during the installation process. That's it! Now after reading many negative reviews I'm truly worried about the future dealings with this company. And the quality of service. One phone call from a knowledgeable rep would have set my mind at ease. Now I want out!

I have had my solar system since 2013 with many failures to its inverter. My latest problem started in Sept 2021 with a burned out inverter. A technician our about 2 weeks after reporting the problem. He determined that I need to have all my panels replaced due to corrosion. That was order and after 6 months of complaining about nothing getting done the panels were replace on April 5, 2022. They still have not replaced the inverter. In trying to get an update about when that would happen (many calls, including being dropped while on hold), after two weeks I was finally told that the system needs redesign prior to getting a replaced inverter. Of course the design process was only requested after I complained about where is my inverter, which is again holding up my repair for several more weeks.
In my lay opinion the design process should have been started even before the replacement panels were installed not weeks after. Now whatever comes out of the redesign may require that the panels be completely rewired and/or moved around. This is a big waste of their tech team and maybe equipment resources. This also prolongs my system outage.
The bottom line is that if I did not have a lease I would have changed supplier very quickly. I think their customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. I am constantly trying to get status updates and told that I will be called back, which never happens. Each person I speak with says they are sorry, but I see no improvement of service.

My sales rep talked to me and explained to me everything in detail about what was going to happen, and what the process was like. He maintained communication with me constantly. It was the same with the installation. They kept me updated on a daily basis of what was going on and we know what's going to happen the next day.
I have my bills as automatic and I received them. It goes through pretty easy. Everything's been good. There was only one month when I went over and had to pay that difference through TEP, but it wasn't much. I went solar so I can stick to somewhat of a fixed rate of monthly bill. Being out here, new homeowner, and just having a big family, my electric bills were a lot higher. When I went to the solar, it definitely cut that in half and I stay within those limit so that I don't really have to go over.

Mike came in and he was not pushy. He was there to make his buck and I get that. But he put everything on the table. I asked him one question that he didn't have the answer to right then, but he did get back to me and he gave me that answer. He sold us what we needed and not what we wanted because what we wanted was something totally different than what we truly needed. Mike needs to be in training. He's much more than just that salesman. It was such an easy transition and I've even got my mom signed up for it.
I didn't appreciate the project manager. When everything was happening, it was Christmas and New Year's, and I understand that. But when I make a phone call, I expect a phone call back, not an email. I called an 800 number and got a lady in Las Vegas that gave me more information than I got the whole project with the project manager. But when I got ahold of Mike, he helped me more than the project manager did. He said, "I don't have the answer for you, but I'll get it," and he got it. Then I got an apology email from the project manager but at that point, I was done with him. So that was the unpleasant part of my experience. But Mike made it better. I can still call Mike today and ask him a question because he knows that I won't call that guy.

Sunrun at Costco asked if I wanted to go solar and I said, “I now own my house. Yes, I do.” Jennifer was my sales rep and she was fabulous. She was advocating for me. I immediately got scheduled that afternoon or the next day with a visit. The installers were okay but they were rowdy-ish. they had some misinformation about what they told me about how the conduit could get to the panels for my electric panel. They initially wrapped it around the edge of the roof and said that it had to be that way. It was a part facing the streets and it looked terrible when I wandered around the neighborhood. I had to go back to my salesperson and she made sure they came back and changed it.
Sunrun also did my reroofing. We hired a subcontractor to do that, which was great. That was another reason that I chose Sunrun. Those roofers were very respectful. Any time you have a reroofing, there's gonna be a little bit of debris, but they did a great job cleaning it up. They were very nice and considerate. They loosened an exhaust flue that is in the process of being repaired because it made my furnace not work. Sunrun damages are handling that. That process, initially, was frustrating because they kept referring me to someone on the phone that was saying, “We can take the panels off and put them back on again.” But that was not the issue. They were the ones who did the roof. Once I spoke to the damage and claims folks, they've been great about it. Also, the Costco financing deal was a big reason for me to do Sunrun. Being able to do that all at once was great.

But they misrepresented some facts and dropped the ball on a couple of things and it delayed my installers turning on the solar panels for over a month. I had to start paying on a loan because I bought them. It was a loan for a service or a product I wasn't even able to use yet. If they're going to do something, they should say they're gonna do it. We were getting bills before the solar panels were even hooked up because the Sunrun program guy that was supposed to be watching it, after it was installed and after the county inspector came and inspected it and gave it the okay, didn't put in the necessary paperwork to the utility company for them to turn it on. So, after about six weeks, I called up the utility company and asked how come we were not up and running. They checked it and the paperwork hadn't been sent in from Sunrun. So, I called Sunrun. The guy said that they've changed a bunch of that stuff and they would have to re-input that. So, he sent it to me. I filled it out immediately and sent it back in, and within a day or two, it was turned on. But it hasn't been a good experience for us.
The Sunrun app is not working. The solar panels were installed in December but when I go to our account, it says that we haven't been turned on yet. It says there's no information and this is the second month that I've been trying to find out. Yesterday, I went into the account again and it was the same thing. It's like we're not on it. Every time I call, the rep would look it up and say our panels are working fine. We're putting out electricity. But I can't see it when I go to my own Sunrun account. So, I'm not happy.

I'm a big fan of Sunrun, and I would recommend them to anyone. I interviewed three different companies when I got interested in solar. I did a little research on the companies, which was interesting because I didn't understand the rating that Sunrun got, as opposed to the rating of the company I refused to use. Their overall rating was better than Sunrun's, but Sunrun's customer service rating was better than theirs. After talking to Sunrun's sales rep, I didn't want to do business with them. The other company, the way they’re set up is that the customer has to do everything on their own on the internet. To ask questions, one has to send them a question and they respond back, so you wouldn't talk to a live person until you pre-accepted the deal. I didn’t like dealing with them either.
I appreciated the sales rep that Sunrun had because he answered all my questions. I told him I probably had more, and he said, “Bring it.” He was outstanding. Unfortunately, he doesn't work for Sunrun anymore, but the guy who took over for him was pretty good too. I had a bit of bad experience in the installation part, but it worked out. It wasn’t all Sunrun’s fault. I have a townhouse, and when the installers came in, they went on the roof and drilled a hole in the neighbor's roof. Based on the plan, they said the design wasn't quite right, so they said I had options. They could make an adjustment there, or they could go back to the engineers and let the engineers really look at it. I went back to the engineers, and it took them almost a month to come back out to do the reinstall.
They were supposed to get it installed before the beginning of the summer. It didn't get installed till the middle of the fall, but that was partially because my HOA was dragging their feet about giving approval. There was that in the scheduling, but Sunrun also had to reschedule another crew to come out to put it in. It was a little more than 30 days. They did a nice job though. They did it pretty fast then there was the time between once they installed it, they had to come in and get approval from the county. That took a little while too. So from the time the system got installed till the time it was turned on to use, it took a little time and I wasn't happy about that.
I've received two bills with a little confusion as well. Their bill was approximately what they said it was going to be, but the electric company’s bill seemed a little high. One was 50 something, and the other was 70 something. My understanding is that I should only be getting a connection bill from the electric company. I was gonna make a call, try to see if I could find out what that's about, but I want to see what the next electric bill looks like.

The first time, we ended up getting a $10,000 tax credit. The second time was not as much but it was 26% tax credit. Plus, Costco gave us a nice reward and there were no pressure sales and they explained things. The guy that sold it was amazing. The installers were very efficient, fast and respectful. They cleaned up after themselves. They left the yard in the house exactly the way it was and were very professional. We were very happy in deciding to go solar. I contacted Sunrun customer service on March 23rd and I was informed that you will contact me in 3 to 5 days. It is now April 6th and I still have not heard from anyone.
In addition to these two lengthy outages in the space of less than three years, I learned during the last outage that one of my panels was not connected for the first year I was renting the panels. I having paying a monthly rental fee since May of 2019 and during that time the panels have been offline for more than three months total - and counting. We are going into April after initial installation was September of 2021. I have a product that is not safe to use according the the energy company. Somehow, they doesn't have the conduit wiring correct. I should have known there were something wrong after over a 6 visits the first week.

A new car, costing about $30,000 or more, usually come with a user manual, right? no user manual for my Sunrun new system! I received too many random email about the virtue of Sunrun but no instruction booklet. I send several email requests for:
- a procedure to test the "4 circuits" on battery backup in case of grid failure.
It has been more than two months. System comprises of PV cells, LG battery, inverter, 4 house circuits on battery backup, Solar breakers in the main panel, Solar AC disconnect, garage subpanel (with with 4 circuits for fridge, garage door opener, kitchen, one bathroom).
Basic requests to Sunrun:
o if I need to turn off the main circuit breaker? What is really turned off? Is it safe?o if I have i.e. kitchen electric fire? How to proceed to safely turn the power off?
o if need to add a new circuit inside the property how to turn power off?
o how do I test that the "4 circuits" on battery backup actually work in case of grid failure?
How is a safety conscious home owner able to document in plain English the functioning of the Sunrun system:
- to the home owner himself- to my family members, to a care taker in case of a prolonged absence
- to an electrician performing repairs or changes in the house
- to the buyer of a new house
Every home owner with an installed Solar System, especially with battery backup, should have a basic user manual. It is not safe to be ignorant of one's own solar system personal risks. It is not safe to be surrounded by unfamiliar electric systems.

Going solar seemed like there was a big incentive but there isn’t. It's something homeowners should do themselves to get the real effect of solar. Because right now, I have somebody else's power plant on my house, which is what I signed up for. So, when you look at it from their point of view, it's not a good perspective. The idea and the incentives sound nice, but Sunrun gets most of the incentive. I get a couple 100 bucks for installing during winter and going with Home Depot products, and I save about 25% in totality on my bill. But there's $8,000 that I missed out on because I let Sunrun put the solar panels on my house instead of doing it myself.
The installation was quick. It was a little cold that day. We're used to the weather changing every five minutes around here but generally, if it would have gotten that cold somewhere, I would have called the day off of work. So, they were higher than my expectations. They showed up and did the job. There were a couple problems where they used my house as a training facility one day, which was an annoyance. But it was helpful at the same time because you got more eyes on the job. They would be more likely to find any problems, if there were any. But there weren't.
