    The rep I spoke with was very informative but once the process had been initiated, he was quite a bit less responsive. Also, there was a huge delay between the initial installation and getting the thing up and running. That was to the point of unacceptable and it cost me about a thousand dollars in electricity costs. But the installers were certainly working hard enough. Also, the system works fine and it's very easy to navigate. The problem with it has been that I switched Wi-Fi services and I wasn't able to reconnect to the new Wi-Fi system. I asked for service and nothing has happened.

    I talked to seven different companies and the rep from Freedom Solar that we had was seemed to be the most knowledgeable. He looked at other solar quotes that we had and said where and how they were wrong and how they were charging us too much for solar panels because our house didn't need that many. He went through everything. We were looking at the batteries and everyone was trying to sell us those. But our Freedom Solar rep was the first guy that said that if the grid goes down, we couldn't use our batteries. The panels are more expensive with Freedom but I had the whole story.

    Also, all of the Freedom Solar products were underneath them. If one of the transistors went out, they would come and replace it and they wouldn't have to wait for LG or Samsung to send a transistor and then come over. And the products are all under one warranty and have the longest warranty. There was a misunderstanding, though. They didn't upgrade the outside of the box so we still have to go out and get $7,500 worth of a brand-new fuse box installed. When I called him numerous times, they said they could get me a $1,000 rebate and I got nothing. All of a sudden, everything disappeared. I'm trying to contact them but nothing happens.

    Working with Freedom Solar Power was very smooth and direct, and there was easy communication. It wasn't a back and forth. I had an idea of what I wanted, and they were able to provide it and give everything right up front, just being straightforward with me. Going solar was awesome. I'm glad I did it. The production has been better than what they anticipated. I've been able to overproduce more than I was expecting to. It's definitely worth it. Even though they're not the cheapest out there, as long as somebody understands the value of what you put into something, it's gonna be beneficial.

    A rep from Freedom called me and they did aerial views of my house. He talked about my roof and what he recommended as far as how many panels I would need. He also talked about the fact that we didn't want to completely cover my roof because that was just paying for a lot of panels. They weren't all going to be utilized. So the best views were south and east, and he recommended 19 panels. He told me the cost and how everything was all in one in such a way that if something broke, you don't have to call the maintenance guy, then call for materials, and then call someone else. If something was wrong, you call one number to get it fixed.

    Then one day, they called and told me my installation date, which was earlier than what they originally told me, but it was fine. After that, the installers came out and did it all in one day. The guys were really nice. After they installed the panels, they said I'd be waiting for one more guy to come and do something with the little box outside and hook it up to TXU. I had a problem with that guy because he left everything wide open. I had to call and ask if there was a reason he did that and he said he just forgot to shut it. He told me how to close it up and that he'd come back and check it the next day. So, I shut everything up.

    When I was going through the inspection process, they had to come out and access my garage. Then I got a notice that it got done and I passed, but I never let anybody into my garage. Also, I did not like that I was told by my rep, Chris, that Texas doesn't have electric companies that have programs with the buyback stuff. When I started researching it and calling around, all other places did. So, Texas needs to get with it and their electric companies need to get better about the buyback. It would be great if that research was done and customers would be told which companies are the ones that do it. Aside from that, I wasn't really taught how to read the app and I'm still learning to read it.

    But overall, I never got so irritated that I regretted going solar through them. I'm already feeling that it was beneficial with my electric bill, especially now that it's 113 outside. I also loved how everything came in packets. They told me how you get back on your taxes, and how you can refer your friends and family to them. All in all, I would recommend them to friends with my additional input to them about things that I didn't know that I know now.

    The agent who I met, Adrien, was very clear about explaining everything. I had an issue with the city about some permits which was something outside Freedom but other than that, Freedom stuck to the plan. I am so happy. My monthly bill went too far low. It's $40 now. They said it's just the first year that I have to pay money for the company. After this, I will have credit that will pay everything for me. I've told many friends about Freedom and most of them already applied with Freedom.

    If I have any questions or concerns, Freedom Solar Power is very responsive. They took care of all the paperwork with the government facilities involved and they helped show me how to use the two applications on a phone to keep track of what's going on on my roof. I have my SunPower and Tesla and it was a Freedom Solar installer who gave me access to those two apps. I've been very happy with Freedom. I happen to live close enough to some restaurants that these people saw the solar panels on my roof and they drove around the neighborhood to get to my front door. I told them about Freedom. I explained how it worked, how much time it took and everything I knew about it to give them some peace of mind as to whether or not it was something to consider for them.

    The reps gave us a timeline of how long things would take and the process. It was May when we got into our contract, and we were ready to go in July. The folks that installed the panels on the roof stepped on some of our shelving in our garage and broke one of them. Otherwise, everyone was really professional. It was really quick as well, and our bill is much lower. However, Freedom Solar needs to walk people through their warranty. I had an issue where I wanted to add an additional Tesla Powerwall after the install and the price that Freedom Solar has was at least 12 grand more than buying the Tesla solar wall and having another company install it. I'm still going through trying to negotiate that with Freedom Solar because of their warranty.

    The installers arrived, started putting stuff on the roof, and placed the panels where we discussed previously. Everything went fine. I had 32 panels installed based upon the electricity my new house uses and is gonna use, and I get a monthly update from the company on how much I'm producing. I can check it any time I want as well. I have an app to go look. The people I work with asked me the size of my panels and I told them what it was. Everybody's thinking it's a good deal, and I'm happy. It's been great working with Freedom Solar. It was easy, and there was somebody always there to talk to if I had a question. Going solar reduced my electrical bill, which has been great.     The salesperson couldn't answer a lot of questions. He recommended 20-something panels but I wanted something more robust so I went with 35. But I realized that, as time goes by, they're not as efficient. I needed to install more to provide for power down the road. My only negative feedback was the status. I like to know when something is going to happen. They were always there when they said they would be but they did not always keep me updated on where we were at in the process and that was unusual for me. I'm a planner and I had things coming up. So, I needed to know. I had to ruffle some feathers so I could get an idea. But I'm sure it was fine within the company and that they had everything laid out.

    The installers were very helpful, quick and thorough. They answered all my questions. We have power issues here and that has caused a lot of people to get generators. My girlfriend stayed over last night because a storm rolled through 30 minutes away and she didn't have power. I work remote from home and I don't have any power issues. The only problem I had with Freedom Solar is the cost. I financed my system but had I paid cash, I would have gotten a 25% discount. That tells me they're padding and the system doesn't have to be that expensive. Other than that, I recommend them.

    The rep was very nice and he tried to explain everything as best as he could. I liked him. We decided to get 22 panels based on what we were using the previous year and what we were willing to pay overall for the system, and the install was very simple. I didn't have to interact with the installers that much. They just needed access to the electrical panel in the attic.

    We have the app for tracking production, and it has limited outages. Sometimes it doesn't work, but it's only for an hour, then it's connected again. When there's no cloud, production is very good and I don't have to pay for electricity from the grid. It depends on if it's raining or cloudy though. Overall, I would recommend Freedom Solar if someone is interested in solar.

    Freedom Solar Power is not 100% flawless, but I am very satisfied with what I have. I dealt with Haley and she was very good. Every time I asked for her to research something, she helped me out. We've invested over 120 grand in our system because we got the Tesla battery and we have a lot of money tied up into it. It's one of the best and the thing that we like about it is that the solar panels are designed and constructed to take the punishment from the sun. A lot of people don't understand that the sun and whatever deteriorating properties that has can impact and reduce that. And if we're talking about a 25-year payback, there is a performance loss. Freedom Solar Power has the best in that regard.

    It would help a lot of the potential clients to technically understand solar panels to make a decision because Freedom Solar Power is not necessarily the lowest price one on the market. And if you're looking to enhance the value of your house long-term for resale, Freedom Solar Power is top of the line. I am thoroughly satisfied with Freedom Solar Power. And if I had to do it again, I would.

    Freedom Solar's representative was a nice and good person. Their communication was very good. The crew that installed the paneling was well-equipped, knew what they were doing and had it down to like a science. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how good going solar is. I keep an eye on the app daily. In fact, I've even changed providers and did that. So, the app is pretty good once I figured out what I was really looking at. One time, some panels weren't working. I went and checked the box and the breaker was popped. So, I reset the breaker. It took care of it. Everything is good at this point.

    Freedom Solar Power did a great job for the solar systems. One of my friends was the first one to install it. He had a good experience with them, so they referred it to me. I tried it. The solar system can help at least $50 to $80 off my bill. They also do have a referral program. So, once I refer my friends to install Freedom Solar, I'll get like $500 gift card. The install is good. The Freedom Solar guys are pretty good, but as far as the shop people, sometimes when I talk to them if I need some special service and I have some questions, they cannot answer immediately. They have to call back in one day or two days.

    Right now, the only thing I don't like is the battery is so expensive. Back in 2019, the backup battery was cheap. Right now, if I want to install two batteries, it will cost like 30,000 up. That's a lot. My whole entire system is like 50,000 something. So, that's why I haven't installed my battery yet. But if I install my battery, probably I can save more money with my electric bill because right now, I'm still using some power with the electric company, and then they charge more than the normal electric because I use the solar system. I got full cover in the daytime but the night time, I still have to us the electrics.

    I couldn't have been more pleased with how Freedom Solar Power performed, both from a company standpoint, as well as from an installation in the solar panel function. Signing up with them went as I expected. And the financing was as they had indicated it would be. The installation was done in one day and was done effectively. I just wrote the salesman that I worked with to inquire about adding the power wall to the system. And I let him know that I was very pleased with how this had worked for the first 11 months. I monitor the effectiveness of the system. I got an app on the phone that does that. And it has been very effective and consistent. It has done exactly what I was hoped it would.     When I first reached out to Freedom Solar, the rep was very nice, explanatory, and respectful and he had answers to any question I had. In the presentation, he made a little blue print of what our ceiling was and he suggested the amount that I need and that I could go one less or one more. Then, the installation went by smoothly. They came in three times and did what they had to do. Since having the system, I'm glad with the dollar amount that comes in my bill. In the summer, I would get $400 and $500 bills but now, I'm getting 30. The most I've gotten is a $50 bill. It's a big difference and I'm 100% satisfied with going solar.

    I installed Freedom Solar Power when it was a busy period for the company and they had to bring somebody from a different city. They installed the equipment not standard for the city I was living in, so they had to send another person to fix that issue. But everything got resolved in a couple of days. It was okay. I’m very satisfied and happy about my decision to go solar. First of all, the bill went down drastically. The loan I got, they spread over the 20-year period and was very low. I got the incentive, the 30% tax credit for last year. That saved money as well. Overall, it was a great decision. They're a good company.

    The sales rep stepped us through the expected dates and the expected layout as well as the legal requirements based on what the utility company is willing to allow. We're in Austin and Austin Energy, which is our sole provider, gives a rebate but only based on the average electric usage that we have. Freedom Solar gave us some estimates though the sales rep wasn't able to give a very detailed, accurate assessment of the roof. They had to take more in-person measurements before they were able to determine the actual placements. But the mock-ups they did were very helpful. And a little cool drone out over the house to be able to get an accurate preview.

    The installation was seamless. I didn't even notice the installers were there. Since we’ve had solar, the bill is consistently the minimum. It’s a little lower but there's not really any difference in the day-to-day living. We didn't wanna pursue batteries but Freedom also didn't make it a track that we could pick up with them. So they could make it a clearer track for those next steps if people want them.

    The representatives at Freedom Solar Power has been okay, but I had some questions about how to make things work properly, and it's been difficult to get ahold of the right person. The electric's been nice. It was nice that I had power during the last hurricane. I was glad about that. But overall, it's much more expensive than I expected it to be. I really feel like Freedom Solar needs to be more upfront about where the money is going and what you're paying for.

    They kept telling me that there's no cost for solar power, but it turns out that you just didn't have to pay for installation until you got the first bill. They said there's no upfront cost, which was true. I didn't have to pay any money out of pocket until it was installed. Then I had to pay $70,000, and I had to get a loan for it. So, that was very misleading. They should be more open and say, "Look, you're trading your electric bill for a bill for the solar panels and the installation of the solar panels. And it's gonna be a lot more than you're gonna pay in the next 25 years."

    The installers were incredible. They were professional, courteous, clean, and informative. I was very impressed with the installation and with the sales process. However, they made some mistakes and drew out the installation over a longer period of time. That caused me to lose my local rebate from my power company, but Freedom Solar tried to resolve it by giving me a non-production refund since the system was installed and unable to produce for four months. That helped offset the part of the rebate that I lost. Also, the rebate being lost is not completely their fault. The system got delayed, then our local utility delayed another three months, so they wouldn't have to pay the rebate.

    Freedom Solar Power's customer service seemed to be the best. They put in the most effort towards it. They seemed to be the most upfront and honest about the actual level of savings to expect. And they wanted to make sure that I was aware of the cost balance of things. It was a specialized install because we have a very tall house. It's a very thin but tall building. And the houses are all very close together. So, they had to get some intricate lift set up to get onto the roof. And they had to have tying points and stuff set up for safety. So, there's a bit more work there for them, but they did well. We had some issues with how much of the roof could be covered from our HOA. We're not covering our full power bill. But in mid-day, it covers things and it makes a big dent. And it is good to have that backup batteries for when the power does go out. That has been very helpful.

    The facilitators were very friendly and they made sure to help the whole process through and make sure that everything was understood. There was quite a process with our HOA. Freedom Solar spent several months back and forth with them to get something that worked. There was one time where they reached out to me and said, “You need to look at this and sign this just because we can't do this for you. But we've gone through it. This is all the background in our conversation, this is where we came to, and this is how and why, and this is why we can't do this, and this is as far as we could push it. If you're comfortable with this, sign and go ahead.” So, I definitely appreciated the months of work that they put in the background that they probably didn't have to with other people with less strict HOAs. That was very good.

    I set up an appointment and I spent one hour in a conversation with Freedom, over which they showed me the program that they have. After that, the installation went remarkably smoothly. The biggest hiccup was getting permission from the City of Arlington to install solar panels -- that took the longest time. Also, the homeowners association had a little hiccup with clarifications here and there but that was handled by Freedom quite well. I'm still in what I would consider the normalization phase but the preliminary bill looks satisfactory. One of the biggest drawbacks is most electrical companies do not offer favorable terms as far as solar conversion but we did find one that has the best terms. And I like the graph that I have which shows the amount of solar produced per day and I can see exactly why we went over budget in January and February.

    I would recommend Freedom. The best part about the service was the installation. The team was extremely professional, quick, efficient, and organized. They kept safe procedures and did things properly. The biggest criticism I had was with the financing. There were some questions I had about how much was charged. They had a certain line item, which was more than I thought it should be, and that threw me off when I looked at it. The numbers ended up being the same, but I do not like not being able to explain any line on the financial item.

    I had a very good experience with the rep who helped me get started with Freedom Solar and I still have a relationship with him. The installation was excellent, too. But it took a little over two months to get everything up and running. They were just getting established in Orlando and we're in north of Orlando. So, their office was just getting the staff and they had some problems with getting appropriate crews. It took a little longer than we had estimated initially and I was a little miffed by that, but I got over it. So far, I’m very pleased with their service. My utility is going down a magnitude. Our utility bill was nearly 300, and last month, I paid $12.

    My signup experience with Freedom Solar was good but the installation had flaws. The system was scheduled to be put in one day, but there were issues with their trucks breaking down and they had to reschedule it. Then, they couldn't make it for the day that they rescheduled it for, so they had to reschedule it again. So, it took longer to get it installed than it was supposed to. Other than that, I'm happy that I went solar. So far, I only pay $200 a month to my solar loan versus paying over $300 a month for electricity. I'd tell my friends that if they're interested in it, they should do it.

    Freedom Solar appeared to have the best quality materials and warranty. One of the most important things for me was that they warrantied everything and I wouldn't have to go to different places to get different things fixed. All I got to do is call them and they take responsibility for the entire system. They were very detailed. They spent about an hour and a half walking me through their entire process of what it would look like from beginning to end. They showed me the different number of panels I would need based on the percentage of electrical power to power the house. So they took my electric bills and analyzed them. We looked at what the best return on investment was and decided on the 70-72% range.

    One of the biggest challenges was working with the Tri-County Coop, which was outside of Freedom's control. They just had a lot of extra paperwork. The actual installation was quite easy. The guys came and installed everything in a day, and then the electrician took a few days to get all of the boxes and cutover switches and things installed. But it was pretty smooth.

    I had three solar companies lined out and Freedom Solar was one of them. It was more of a quick and in and out for the other companies. I don't even know their names. I didn't like their approach. I wanted somebody to break it down specifically, and answer every question I had. The Freedom Solar guy who ended up coming to see us definitely took his time. He broke it down and helped us understand word for word what it meant to have to solar and how it all worked. So, he was at my house for about three hours. He was very, very informative. I would recommend him to anybody because he was very helpful. Everybody that came to do the installation was very kind. They were quick, respectful, and courteous. So, it was a good experience. Since having the system, I've noticed my light bill being negative in the wintertime. It's good that we didn't have that bill. Just last month, we had -13. So, we've seen a big difference, which we're really happy with.

    During Freedom Solar's presentation, they brought a sample of a panel and we really liked the way that it looked and all the hardware was underneath. It wasn't on top like we see so many solar panels. Also, we did our research and found that they were working directly with NASA for the panels. The salesperson was also very knowledgeable. She worked her way up from the bottom to sales. So she knew exactly what she was talking about.

    The installation crew was very professional and courteous. They answered all my questions. They were able to explain what was going on throughout the entire process. When they did the hookups, the City Public Service came and did their thing. That's our City Public Service. When the Solar Freedom representative came, he explained how to read the panels. He explained everything and everything was nice. It wasn't fake. There was no debris left.

    I work remotely, so I'm home. There are times when I've put the air conditioner up to 78 or 80. I do check to see what we're doing because I still go around turning off all the lights. It's working out really good. During the summer, our bill for electric is about $30 to $50 since we've had the system. So it is working out. We're still making payments that are over $100 a month but I understand that.

    I use the app and check it to make sure the panels are working. I have called them once and asked them, "Hey, why isn't this panel working? What's going on?" Sometimes the app may not be true because they've told me, "Well, we're checking in and we're showing all the panels working." I get confused about that on, "Why is only 0.2 or point this? Why aren't they doing it at 100%?" There's no tree blockage where they put them. There's direct sunlight on them. I don't know why it's not running at 100%. But when I see that we're putting back into the grid, I wish CPS would pay.

    When I chatted with Freedom Solar, they really sounded good. The salesman said, "You got one neck to strangle, one throat to choke if something goes wrong." They're responsible for everything versus you have to go after the manufacturer or installer. I like that concept. I had a virtual meeting with them, and then they came out and did a survey with a drone and gave me the proposal. The installation was very professional.     Freedom Solar Power seemed the most expensive but the most reliable service down the road. Blake was good initially. And he answered all my questions. He got hard to get ahold of at the end. I got mad at him at one point. I'm over it now. I was very happy with the installation and the service I got. The guys were all very polite and professional. Initially, we had some problems getting the thing to work. That was a mild frustration. But they worked through it, and they got it working.

    I didn't realize initially that during the winter those things are useless. Now I've got the loan I was paying on and my own utility bills. So, in the winter, I ran 650 a month, which was a shocker. I started calling and bitching at the guys. But they started ignoring my calls. I got a guy named Austin that helped me work through the problem. And I began to understand it. I need to pay that loan off so I can appreciate the savings. He ran some reports for me and gave me not the answer I wanted, but the answer that was factual. But they're doing fine now. My bill is back to $15, $20 a month and exactly what I expected. They did a good job. I'm happy so far. I'm looking forward to a good straight summer with them.

    What Freedom Solar told me at the beginning didn't happen. They tell you if you don't get the battery, you'll end up getting credits, which isn't true. You'd have to get the battery with it, so it's worth it. They hooked up the panels but didn't hook up one panel. It was on the roof and wasn't plugged in. When I was checking the app, I was getting credits every day. When they came out and hooked up the panel that they didn't hook up when they installed, it took away all my credits then I started owing money. I had 200 and some kilowatt credits. After they plugged it in, I owed 600 and some kilowatts. I contacted Freedom Solar and the power company. They said there was nothing wrong.

    My sales representative from Freedom Solar Power was honest, gave me all the options, and I like the fact that he was never pushy towards Freedom. There were some misunderstandings and trying to figure out what the status was maybe slightly difficult.

    The installation crew was professional. They came on time and knocked out the job right away. They're respectful of the request we have.     Freedom Solar was the most transparent during the sales and negotiating process. My experience with their sales rep and support during the whole process was very positive. They even continued support afterward. The installation was fine and didn't take much time. Ours was pretty straightforward. Freedom got the design done in 10 business days but it took 4 to 6 weeks for the power utility company to review and approve the design. That was the delay before they could come and start construction. As soon as that was given, Freedom went ahead and did the construction. That was three days' worth of work. Everything's performing as expected. The amount of offset is in line with expectations and design. My sales rep stayed engaged and continued to act as my advocate throughout the entire process, so I wasn't reliant on just their customer service folks.

    The rep was very knowledgeable and friendly. The installers were great. They were neat and fast. They were very respectful of the property, and very friendly. But there are issues about how the solar system actually works and feeds back into the grid that I was not aware of when the system was installed. For example, if the grid goes out and I don't have a battery backup, my solar system doesn't do diddly for me. It gives me no power.

    I must have the grid hooked up and active for the solar system to work. Because when it generates excess power, it has to have a place to dump it. So if the grid is down, it is disconnected from the grid because we don't wanna electrocute any of the line men out there with my solar system. So the solar system has no place to dump its excess energy if it does not have batteries, which I do not have. It's an exorbitant cost for a decent battery bank. I opted instead to buy the propane generator.

    Going solar was pretty expensive. but it was something I was wanting to do even before they had a government incentive. My system's production comes on my phone and my electric bill is $20. But, I definitely suggest getting the Tesla battery. Today, a truck ran through the power line and it knocked all the electricity out. Ours just barely clicked. The battery gives five hours which is more than plenty. The techs fixed the power line before we ran out of electricity.

    Freedom Solar is tied to SunPower, which is probably the oldest company. When we look at companies, we wanted a long-term warranty and most companies did give that. SunPower, however, manufactures all the products that they put on their roof except the batteries in the garage so I felt better going with their warranty than anybody else.

    The installers did a great job. I was very satisfied with their performance and installation. They were very professional. I only had one little issue with the inspector wanting some tags on some of the things in the attic that had voltage going into it. They didn't bring their little signs with them. They forgot them or the guy didn't have it. But as far as the installation, it was good.

    In mid-June, we got the power running. If the sun's not shining, we don't have solar power. That's the issue. They promised about 76% and I'm probably getting about 70% of solar power versus energy used. Other than that, it's performed well. I also like the fact that if I get a notice on my phone app about some type of crisis or there's gonna be a storm coming in, they'll start backing up my batteries without me having to worry about it.

    They were pretty straightforward and did a good job of explaining the system. The sign-up process was good and very straightforward. Customer service has done a good job. Whenever I've had any questions or needed something done, they were pretty quick to respond. The installers also did a very good job. They told me when they were gonna be there, and they were prompt and on time. It didn't take them too long to do the job. They picked up after themselves as if they hadn't been there.     Signing up with Freedom Solar was easy and there was nothing that I needed to do. The installers put the system as designed and after that, they gave the pictures and said it was already installed. They were very nice. The only struggle I had was the solar system didn't work when they installed it. It was sitting there for three weeks doing nothing. They were waiting on the city inspection and when that was done, they said they would turn on the power. But it was not showing on my app and it was not even showing on the meter that it was doing something. Then, one person came after three weeks of continuous follow-up and they fixed that issue. It was installed in August and it started working fine towards the end of September. I'm very satisfied at this point and I would recommend it.

    Freedom Solar doesn't support though. When somebody raises an issue, they should have some people who would help quickly. When I contacted them, they told me to go on the site and open a ticket. So, I opened a ticket and nothing happened in a week. I follow up again the next week and they said nobody looked at the ticket and the rep would look at it. It was not good feedback. Communication-wise, it was lacking.

    Short review (full review below): Please save yourself the headache and go with anyone else besides Freedom Solar. Everything about their customer service process feels broken. Our install is delayed, things had to be redesigned, and at literally every step of the way they have dropped the ball on communication, staying in contact with us, and generating trust in their process. I have given them so many second chances and tried to be a patient customer, but at this point they have ruined all ability for me to trust them as a company.

    Full Review: Had a great first experience with Freedom Solar in terms of getting a system designed and a contract signed. As soon as the contract was signed everything fell apart, and no matter how many people I talk to and escalate our project through, things just keep getting dropped. First strike was that our original system designer (who sold me on Freedom solar, and was supposed to be my point of contact through the entire installation phase), left 2 weeks after I signed my contract. Did anyone from Freedom solar reach out to let me know about this? Nope. I learned about this after I tried to send an email to him asking about next steps.

    In response his manager emailed me back letting me know he left. I had reasonable concerns about what this meant for my project and contact with them, and wanting to have someone else still with the company double check that the system he designed for us would still work as intended. Instead I got left without a reply for weeks by this manager (Colleen), and had to start over by reaching out to the general customer service team on their website. I got a new system designer (Tony), who was fantastic, we talked through the original design, and he reassured me he would take over the project, and the system was still good. Tony was great. And I figured I was fine to give freedom solar a second chance and stick to the process.

    But, I also had people on the account management team disregard my emails and requests, and just again undermine my trust in Freedom Solar's processes. For example emailing my HOA president directly when I had specifically asked for all HOA submissions to go through me and I would route them to respective parties. Having repeat phone calls all telling me that some permit/application got approved, and having that same phone call happen 3 more times in the same day because they can't check that it had been done. My system had to get a slight redesign through the city permitting stage, which is totally fine, but how did I find out about it? Not through them reaching out and discussing the changes with me like they said they would, but instead as I was CCed onto a resubmission of the design to my HoA.

    When I brought up that I haven't even reviewed the changes yet, they said there were no real changes, it was just to the drawing. This was not true, an entire panel moved sides, and things had to be shifted around 3-5 feet. I wanted to talk through this with a designer to see how this would impact production, since I was assured the original layout was optimal for solar production. Turns out this new configuration lends itself to even better production, which is just confusing. Loss of faith in their processes once again.

    Then my case got escalated to be handled by someone on the customer service team. They were friendly at first but after discussing my concerns and trying to figure out what options there were to build back trust or to back out of the contract since I don't have faith in their ability to deliver a good install or follow up warranty care, I was told they would circle back with me first thing on Monday, 4/10. Monday and Tuesday came and went with no contact. Tried calling them Wednesday, and now it's Thursday and that's the last straw which is why I'm leaving this review. Long story short, things just feel broken at Freedom Solar, unless you get lucky with a smooth process from the right people, just know that it feels the company has big problems that could be a big liability for a long term project like solar.

    This company is a total disaster. If something can go wrong with solar panel installation, these guys will make sure it will go wrong. We signed the contract in September, and they promised to install them by the end of the year. We got all approvals, and then… I have been told that they do not have the panels in the warehouse. I told them they had to do something, get the panels otherwise the deal is off. They barely made it, installed it right before the New Year. But… the crew completely screwed up the work. First, they did not measure it correctly when installed the rails on one side of the house, so they had to cut and patch. Then they ran out of pipes for electrical wires to connect them to the box. They came few days later, but… since they banded incorrectly the last pipe, they wanted to do a zig-zag connection. I told them NO. Just take it out, cut it properly and put it in such a way that there is only one turn.

    Well, they finally got it done right. But… After they left, I noticed they left some tools on my garage roof. I decided to check the gutters on one side of the house where it is just 1-story, and I found a bunch of staff there like gloves, metallic parts, plastic boles (the very same bottle I gave them with water to drink), etc. that can easily get stuck in the gutter which btw connects to the underground drainage system I have. Furthermore, apparently, they left a drill on my chimney!!! When they came to take the drill, I specifically asked to check the gutter on the other side of the house, so they said it was clear. But… few weeks later we had a heavy rain, and of course I got a leak!! You get a leak, you call a roofer.

    The roofer told me that everything is clear except that one leg that holds the panel, which is not properly sealed, and it is right there where the leak is. And apparently, they found another plastic bottle in that gutter, exactly where I asked the crew to check when they came back for the drill!!! I must mention that my roof is 1-year-old, in perfect condition, and there have been no leaks since it was replaced. I called Freedom Solar and they sent technicians to take a look. The technicians confirmed that the roofer just applied a sealer to cover the lag, and they checked everything else and did not find any other place it could leak. They took pictures and told me that we must wait and see if the leak stops, there is no other way to check it. We waited for a couple of months, had plenty of heavy rain and never had a leak again.

    I called back and talked to Lazaro** asking to come and fix the wall which got damaged by the leak. He sent again the technicians. The very same technicians came, they remembered my case, checked it around, no leaks, so they told me they will send somebody to fix the wall because obviously the problem was with not properly sealing the leg. But… Mr. Lazaro ** from his office had a different opinion. He wrote to me that technicians could not figure out the reason because the sealing was put not by them but by a roofer!!! Excuse me??? Do I have from now own call Freedom Solar every time I get a leak just because they installed panels on my roof??? Besides, the roofer just put the sealer on the base of the leg, this is all what he did, and technicians could see it. The leak stopped, so the leg was the problem and the technician confirmed that was the problem!! Well, still battling them about this. Never deal with these guys!!!

    TL;DR- Threatened to break and enter on my property, threatened to file a lien on my property when all sent invoices were paid, forged signature, compromised customer's data and privacy, failed delivery 5 times, deceptive advertising about cost savings, misrepresenting staff titles and credentials, refused reasonable accommodations for a communication disability, there is NO SUPPORT once they have your money.

    When you complete your solar project with Freedom Solar you will be mailed a photocopy of a hand written note from their CEO Bret. It states to contact him personally with any issues because he wants to assure that you are fully satisfied and happy with your new Solar System. Watch out! This one is a big lie! Do not even bother wasting your time reaching out to Bret. He cannot and will not be bothered to respond. Instead of working with customers to resolve disputes in good faith, he will enlist Cokinos Law to send you threatening letters. I guess in an attempt to use a business to weaponize the legal system against consumers. Super gross.

    1. Originally, I reported my experience with Freedom Solar to the FTC, SEIA, and BBB. About one month after giving formal statements to FTC, SEIA, and BBB in regards to Freedom Solar's violations of Consumer Rights and deceptive/misleading information, I started to receive invoices that made no sense to me from Freedom Solar. They had the incorrect address, different amounts than I had paid before, and were listed as being for the “Start of Project”… And no new start of project was authorized at my home. I sought clarity from the Freedom Solar billing department and received no answers. I did not pay them, because I had no idea what they were for and I genuinely thought it was another one of their incompetent mistakes. I also have records of previous invoices that have all been paid, and I received a project completion statement from Freedom Solar showing that all balances were “Paid in Full”.

    About 8 weeks later I received a letter from Phyllis at Cokinos Law in Austin threatening to put a lien on my home and to break and enter to remove my system! I was shocked. After unfortunately working with Freedom Solar I knew they were prone to mistakes and a very unethical business, but I never imagined they would make an attempt to weaponize the legal system and make unlawful threats against a consumer in an act of retaliation. To make things even “better” the threatening letter that Cokinos law was full of errors, including- the incorrect date the project was completed and the incorrect address! Like you are threatening a lien and you can’t even get the address, correct? It’s literally embarrassing. Do they just go around trying to put fraudulent liens on the wrong addresses? So scary what people in power do to random citizens…

    2. They forged my husband’s signature on a document. The signature they have does not match his actual or digital signature. The document is not in his account where all signed documents are saved, request for signature is not in his e-mail, and in the contract that I have, which is finalized, is signed by myself and the person at Freedom Solar only. My husband’s signature is not on the finalized contract; the business does not sign the contract before the customer. However, the contract they gave to Cokinos Law has a “signature” stating my husband’s name.

    3. Watch your Credit Scores! On multiple occasions an employee from Freedom Solar sent me someone else’s personal information, including financial details! I was shocked and very upset that my personal information and financial details had been sent to another customer also. They claimed that this was not the case. I have honestly thought about contacting that person to let them know that Freedom Solar compromised their information so they can take legal action if they need to. I haven’t because I am not the type of person to do anything nefarious with another person’s information, but part of me is concerned that they might have sent their information to someone else, etc. Anyway, I have been keeping a close eye on my credit report, cards, email, etc.... Very worried about that, they obviously have a total disregard for their customer's data and privacy!

    4. They missed / rescheduled install dates 5 times! I get that things happen, people call in sick, parts are on delay, but, really, 5 times? If you are having such staffing or supply issues, get it together and then start scheduling appointments. I missed 5 full days of work because of this, it’s absolutely ridiculous. On the almost 6th missed install time, the sales person Alex e-mailed me and said the install was going to have to be rescheduled because the electrician had COVID and they needed to pour a concrete pad for the Power Wall….. However, no discussion of a concrete pad had ever been discussed, we requested the Power Wall be mounted as the previous one is mounted. I replied back to him with this information and to try to get a new install date.

    Within 2 hours, the guy who Alex S said had COVID showed up at my house to install the Power Wall. He was great- very skilled. I asked him if he had COVID and he looked at me like I was crazy and said no. I think that the people at Freedom Solar are so used to lying and making things up that they can’t even tell which is which anymore, Alex S couldn’t even admit to making a simple mistake through all of this.

    5. Freedom Solar uses deceptive advertising, misleading ads, and inaccurate data related to the costs savings of their Solar System in order to get people to buy in. When in reality our monthly power bill INCREASED after we installed solar. This is because most of the utility providers in Texas charge a (much) higher rate per kwh if you are on a “Solar Buy Back” plan & high Oncor Delivery Fees- which of course, Freedom Solar encourages you to sign up for. However, they absolutely do not provide education, support, or breakdowns of what type of plan you need to be on to get the “cost savings” they advertise. I believe this is not only due to incompetence, but due to very poor design of their solar systems in general. For example, we did not increase our electricity usage, in fact, we decreased, and our bill was still increasing.

    When consulting a real Licensed Electrical Engineer and speaking with Tesla, they confirmed that our ($45K) system was designed poorly and actually required TWO Tesla Power Walls in order to get ANY cost savings- and no the cost savings are not anywhere near what Freedom Solar advertises. We unfortunately bit the bullet and purchased an additional Tesla Power Wall. Our bill has decreased, but it has never even come close to the cost savings advertised.

    6. Freedom Solar Intentionally misrepresents unlicensed staff as Engineers / Electrical Engineers. This is super scary to me because these people are working on our homes! I am always so worried / paranoid about an electrical fire that I like to have record of who has worked on my home. This occurred on multiple occasions when I asked to speak with a licensed Electrical Engineer regarding questions with our system / plan and how it would work. For example, during an e-mail exchange, I asked to speak with an Electrical Engineer prior to signing a contract. I was then handed off to Nicole L, who is a “PV Designer and Sales Engineer”. When asking for her license number I was denied that information. When attempting to find a Licensed Electrical Engineer by that name in the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations, no records were found.

    When seeking clarity, I was met with pressure to sign the agreement/contract in question and given ultimatums and threats instead of the education I needed in order to feel safe. If you’re wondering why I continued at this point- I had already paid $45,000 and in attempting to work with another Solar Installer, they all directed me back to the original installer because the system was less than 3 months old. I was just in too deep. It was awful.

    7. If you need any type of accommodation for a disability- DO NOT expect Freedom Solar to abide by the Federal Law. Alex S and Brice R failed and refused, multiple times, to make a reasonable accommodation for an effective communication method requested for a disability.

    8. Need help understanding your utility bill? Need help with the Power Wall app? Need advice on panel maintenance? Help with the SunPower App? System is offline? A panel isn’t producing? You absolutely cannot rely on or expect Freedom Solar to help or provide any support for your system once they’ve cashed the check. They have your money and that’s where it ends. You will have to call a contractor or another solar provider to try to get help. It’s absolutely absurd that you could pay nearly $50K for something and receive absolutely no help or support (which they promise and advertise) afterward.

    All I can say is, don’t walk, RUN! RUN away from Freedom Solar. When you are making this tremendous financial investment in your home, you want to work with a company who is at minimum willing to abide by the law; and factually, that just isn’t Freedom Solar, they are about as unethical as it comes. This is a huge investment in your home and the company you work with to provide a solar system at should make you feel informed, safe, prepared, and be willing to work with you directly through any issue that arises. You will absolutely NOT receive that if you go with Freedom Solar. You will be lied to, price gouged, and thrown to the curb- and if you voice concern to an official govern

    Everything was great with Freedom Solar, except that the whole net metering program wasn't described to me in a way that helped me make a good decision. So, I'm not getting the solar panels installed. They want to install them within the next couple months but the day that you go on the grid, your 12-month timer starts. My highest usage months are June, July, and August. So, the only way for me to maximize net metering and get the value out of the solar panels would be for me to go on the grid in September. By going on the grid in January, I miss September, October, November, and December. That's four months of buildup of credits. So, when June, July, and August come, I'm going to be over the capacity of my solar panels and I'm going to pay out of pocket. Then on September, October, November, and December, I will be producing more energy than I can use, but those credits will never be used because I get reset in January.

    The fact that they didn't try and schedule this to make it best work for my home was a little bit deceptive and not right because they're advertising this net metering and how you're only going to pay X amount of dollars then they were going to make it so it works that you offset all your costs. But they didn't talk about when they needed to time it to get on the grid. They just wanted to get the panels on your roof as soon as they can which is unethical. I would tell others all about the net metering program and tell them that if they could schedule it and get it in writing that they would be on the grid when they need to be on the grid, then they should do it with Freedom Solar. But if they can't, they should pass.

    We wrote an email to Freedom Solar this morning asking them where we do we stand on our process. The last time we heard, they were waiting for approvals from some of the government organizations and that was about a month ago. But what has happened up to now has been very good. They were on top of things, contacted us, and took care of some of the paperwork themselves. The anticipation that we had was that, hopefully, we're going to have this solar system installed prior to year end. But they said it takes time for the other approvals to come through. Other than that, the cost seems to be in line with what other people have told us it would be and the thing that seemed to swing us the most was their warranty.

    I have Freedom Solar installed 5 years ago. This year I had water leak under solar panels. The customer service was awful, I called and called, left message after message. After more rain I finally got a call back and company finally sent an employee to check the water damage inside my house. The rep said yes damage coming from under solar. I was told a date that Freedom would send someone, no one showed on the day. After numerous calls again I was told a person was coming to check damage again. This time the new guy went on the roof and said yes damage under solar, but he could not remove panels. I was given a date someone would come. Once again no show and no call. I called and called again and finally Freedom came (just showed no appointment) and removed the panels. I was told that pigeons living under the solar caused the damage.

    I was never told of critter guards at time of install and did not know of this problem (Pigeons living under solar). The freedom employee removed numerous clay tiles and told me that I needed new paper installed and he would be back on the following Tuesday. I had surgery on that Tuesday and would leave everything open to do whatever they needed to do. That weekend more rain and more damage inside my house. I called on a Saturday morning for help and was told that Freedom could not do anything and for me to call on Monday. I had to leave work and tarp roof to prevent more damage. I called Monday and left message for help (no return call). Company did not show or call on Tuesday. I had to wait a few days after surgery to call again.

    Short version, Satia ** (Escalations dept) finally agreed to fix damage and I signed an agreement to release the liability and they would pay $1500 for repairs (cheapest estimate). 3 days later they changed their decision and voided agreement because they believe that pigeons living under the solar are not their problem.     I had solar panels installed in June and I called the local electric company today, they said they're waiting for an CILC form to be submitted by the installer. My sales rep keeps telling me the electric Co is behind, never mentioned all the forms aren't in place. Either Trent is a liar or he doesn't know what he's doing. I'll get my corporate attorney on them anyway now.

    I wanted someone to come on, give me an estimate at my house and see what it was gonna cost me. A Freedom Solar Power representative went out to the house. We talked and he pretty much sold us on it. But knowing what I know now, I would have never bought it. The system is not what I expected. I wish someone would have told me that, before I went with solar energy, some of the things that would help the solar panels would be better insulation in my house. I'm paying the solar bill and I'm also paying the electric bill. That's not what we thought we were gonna be doing.

    The sales guy, James, is no longer working with the solar company. He told us we were gonna have to deal with someone else but it was kind of difficult just to get the closing statement back and also trying to get information to do my taxes this year. I needed some information I have problems getting because nobody will get back to us and I kind of had to guesstimate on some stuff. I realized how much I have bought the solar panels for because the golden package doesn't even have the amount that I paid for the solar panel. I had to find my bills, the first bill that I received, and it has the full amount that was owed for the panels. That was how I figured out what I needed to put on my taxes.

    The experience is getting better now, but it wasn't good. It's been a very long, frustrating road. Freedom Solar came in and we had our interview. They told us what we needed, we got qualified, and they installed the product. But we never got instructions on how to turn the product on or how to monitor the product. The inspector had already come out, tested the product, and said it was good to go, but we never heard anything back from Freedom Solar. I called the energy company and they told me what to do. We got it up and running in October and we were not producing enough solar. We still had astronomical light bills on top of the solar payment.

    Freedom Solar came back again and compensated us for two months of our solar payment to help us out. Now, we're starting to see some production. But no one said, “If you want to get solar, we want you to use our company. However, you may want to wait until the solar production comes into place so you could see the benefit of what you're doing.” When I started talking to people at Freedom Solar, they expressed this to me, but that was after I'd already bought the products.

    When they installed the product, they accidentally destroyed the seal around one of my vents in my bathroom. I told them this but they never did anything about it. It was creating too much moisture and we saw mold growing on the ceiling. We took care of it ‘cause we didn't want it to get worse. We went out on top of the roof and resealed it. The follow-up sometimes is not as good. There's a gentleman by the name of Mark, and he's the customer service that was supposed to stay on top of things with me, but he did not. I was constantly having to call him until I finally got someone that was over him. I shouldn't have to go after them. They should be coming towards me.

    The sales rep forgot to give my proposal and final papers in the email, but the installation was fine. Then, the regional manager sent me a few paperwork later on after they called end of last year. But sometimes, the app has issues. The monitoring system was going in and out on January or February. When it goes out, I don't get the correct amount of solar that was used. I get a number, but there's nothing to verify it with. Also, if I can get all the paperwork that was associated with the placement of the letters that were sent to the HOA, that would be great. Otherwise, it's good.

    Freedom Solar got some information from my light company so they could have a better breakdown of what I spend a month. Based on that, they told me how everything works. I sent them information and they worked out a plan. The sales representative was able to answer my questions. The installation was super quick. However, I'm not happy with Freedom Solar at all. I wish I would have never even gotten this account. I don't see much difference in my light bill and I'm not thrilled about having the panels now. I’d spoken to several people about how I could terminate my contract then see if I could get these panels off my roof. At first, they said everything was transferable. But when I tried to do that, they said they don't do that. It was for absolutely nothing. It was just to get me to buy that they told me everything that I wanted to hear.

    Also, I have called repeatedly to ask for the tax form because they told me that I needed to wait a whole year before I was able to get the tax form for the government incentive. The tax season is over as far as me turning in my taxes on time. I called and spoke to someone. He said he was gonna send it over but I'm still waiting.

    Freedom Solar Power seemed to be organized and they were. However, for a long time, I didn't hear from Freedom because the representative left the company and they may not have assigned me to another person. But the installation was flawless. The system worked with a complicated setup flawlessly after one day and we've had no downtime. The very next day after it was installed, there was a power outage on our street and I didn't even know it happened. The system is been 100% reliable and I have a good buyback program too. I also asked for a rebate of the cost it cost me to switch from my previous provider to Rhythm and they gave me the $300.

    The only drawback is with the renewal with Rhythm, I can no longer have a negative bill. If I equal my entire electric use, I will not get a rebate on the surplus. It's a disincentive to add more solar. I'm going to investigate to see if there is a company that will allow me to have a net negative bill for an entire year. In which case, I could add more solar panels. But right now, I'm at the maximum with Rhythm as a company. That was a company that was recommended to me and it's been satisfactory. So, I've stayed with it.

    The whole process with Freedom Solar was kind of a headache. They didn't meet the installation deadlines that we agreed upon. We had the installation date for December, and it ended up being installed on February. Part of it was the sales guy. He said that he somehow forgot to get the guys to go out and do the survey. Also, they didn't have the panels available at the time. Not only that, I had another issue with the reimbursement that they had offered on buying the panels. They ended up saying that they changed their policy and offered a lot less than they did. But I love the panels even though it's not much of a difference. They make a difference in the summertime only because when I run the numbers it's about the same thing.

    The system is good but there's a technical service that they didn't finish. They said that everything is gonna get installed properly and that was not the case. I've been waiting for two and a half years on some work that still hasn't been done yet. They've come out here three times already. The customer service reps always say they're gonna give me a callback but they never do. Sometimes, they don't even answer. The sales rep we worked with, John, doesn't answer the calls now that the system is installed but when it wasn't, he answered quick. I wouldn't recommend them.

    Freedom Solar did not piecemeal the project. They made the panels and installed them as well as warrantied and monitored the panels. They did everything as a company. Overall, I'm quite satisfied. There were a couple of little glitches when they installed it though. They thought they could put more panels on than they could. So, that was a little disheartening. Two days ago, there was a problem with our roof, so I don't know what that's going to be involving because part of it is not adequate and will need to be repaired. That's a bit of a glitch because they inspected it before they put the solar panels on.

    I had a couple of different people along the way with projects. There was the salesperson who was very helpful and there was the project manager too. The service and questions have been great. I'd call their corporate office and ask questions and they’ve gotten back to me. So, they're good. To keep track of what I’m producing, there is an app on my phone that I can see daily and monthly production. Freedom also sends me an email once a month regarding what my production is. And I can see the results through the energy provider that I've chosen.

    I talked to one of their sales rep and he was the best person. He gave me 95% of the detail I needed and that's why I went with Freedom Solar. Everything was perfect with the sign up process. But one problem was the tax credit. They told me I would get a tax credit but it was not working as you get a tax credit. I called the IRS myself after I find out and they told me that I would only get 500 bucks. But I was supposed to get around 8,000. So they clear the money you owe to the IRS, but it's not giving you a credit. I called the salesperson again but there was nothing he could do. But other than that, everything was good. They answered my question and the scheduling was perfect. The installation was very quick. We rushed to do the installation before the end of the year and they worked with me and gave it to me right away.

    Jose came to our home and sold us our solar for our home. He did a great job. Then their team came and installed the panels. After we got some rain, we noticed that when they installed our panels, they made extra hole in our roof. We notify headquarters and they sent some to correct the holes they came by and told us they temporary patch the holes, they were going to send some to fix the roof and someone to fix the damaged ceiling inside our home. We are still waiting after a year and half. Maybe what we need is to contact an Attorney to get this fixed.

    The reps at Freedom Solar I spoke with were great. My only issue is that we were told that we'd get a huge tax rebate thing and we’d get $21,000 or $23,000 back from the government after signing the contract and that is not the way it works. I texted my CPA, and he said that based on my income, I'm getting 600 bucks a year back for five years, and that our income is not high enough to facilitate that. Other than that, everybody in that company has been great. I talked to one of their guys in Austin and I really liked him. Everything he said is proven to be true.

    The sign-up was pretty decent but we had troubles with the installation. They came in and they put the wrong boxes in. Then, they were putting them in for another two days and I had to wait for the city to come back and put something else in. Also, I assumed the battery would come with it because I kept telling them that's what I wanted it for. But after I sent the paperwork, I didn't get the battery. They said I only got approved for 50,000. But other than those, I've saved $5 to $10 a month off of it.

    Freedom Solar was good at responding back and answering all the questions because consumers may not know everything about the solar even if they want to put it on the roof. So, they explained things and they were amazing. The sales rep was awesome. The installation was good. Everything was on time and whatever they said, they did it.
