I was with Sunrun first, and they advised me to lease. Then Chase from Freedom Solar stopped by and explained very well the difference between leasing and financing. He told me the best option was to finance since the monthly payment with leasing was going up every year. With Freedom, the monthly payment was for 15 months before it would change, and they explained that if I tried to pay back the incentive, it would go down. That would be a game changer if we filed taxes so we could reimburse quickly before the deadline.
Sunrun does have financing options too, but theirs was higher than Freedom’s, so I stayed with Freedom. My experience with them has been good. I’ve recommended Freedom to a friend who was asking about it, and I gave him Chase’s number.
Hi Sidy Diawara! Thank you so much for sharing your detailed and positive experience, and for highlighting Chase's helpful guidance! It's fantastic to know you're so satisfied with your decision to go with Freedom Solar Power. Our goal is to offer you a great experience from the consultation all the way through to any service needs you may have. We truly appreciate your business and your recommendation. Freedom Solar is the most expensive out of the three I googled, but they answered my questions. Nobody else could answer what happens if my roof leaks because of where they put the solar. Freedom Solar said they warranty that for 10 years. I feed my house first and then out, and they actually proved it to me at Freedom. I’m the kind of guy who does three bids and usually goes with the middle, but in this case, I went for the high-end one and I think they did a great job.
What they did was they looked at my electric bill for the last 12 months to determine the X amount of electricity I generated and said I need X amount of panels to maintain that. All their installers were very courteous and helpful. I was impressed. They taped off up to about 10 feet from the edge of the house, so nobody would accidentally get hurt if they dropped something off the roof. Freedom Solar pulled up in three vans, all marked with their license numbers and emblem on there. It was very professional.
This is day two of going live, and it took us a little while to produce because of some permitting issues with the city of Port Orange. I use the Tesla app to live-feed my system and see how much energy I’m generating, what’s going to the grid, what’s stored in my battery, and how much is feeding into my house. I can tell when my AC unit’s turning on, which is neat. I watched that this morning from work in Orlando.
They are a little pricey, but you’re paying for quality versus quantity. Every time I called, they got back with somebody promptly. They took care of me. I’d rather pay, especially for something like this. It is going to increase the value of my home and give me the ability to tell the power company to go away. It is worth the money.

I filled in one of these online, where several companies responded to bids. We had quotes from four companies and Freedom Solar Power appeared to be the better deal at the time.
It was very easy to sign up with them. The installation was pretty smooth. Of course, we had to get approval from the HOA.
Freedom Power was supposed to help us sign up with an energy provider to get the best deal, and they reached out to us a month after we went live but I'd already done it. I was already committed to something else, so I was not very pleased about that.
They only tell you about the best possible scenario, and they don't give you all the facts. They promised us a deal for buyback on the solar that didn't exist. Free nights plans come and go, and they're not very common and not many of them are very lucrative.
At the time we went live, there were zero free nights plans issued in the Houston area. There are some now, but I have to evaluate when this contract is up whether they're worth going to.
Hi Donna Sarkozi, We appreciate you highlighting the positive aspects of your initial sign-up and the smooth installation process. However, we sincerely apologize for the disappointing follow-up regarding energy provider assistance and the inaccurate information about electricity plans presented during the sales process. We understand your frustration with the delayed support and the discrepancy in plan availability in Houston. We are actively reviewing our customer service and sales protocols to prevent such issues and ensure accurate, timely information is provided consistently. We value your business and are committed to ensuring your long-term satisfaction with your solar investment.

I’ve seen Freedom Solar through Facebook. Unfortunately, my experience with customer service was not good at all. Sometimes I have doubts and have been trying to contact them for a while. It took a long time to get a response, and when I did, the information was vague and didn’t clarify everything. At one point, I gave up trying.
As for the solar panels, I haven’t noticed any reduction in my bill since installation. We haven’t removed the panels we currently have because we already signed a contract, so it wouldn’t impact our credit. After discussing it, my wife and I agreed to continue making the payments.
Hi Kevin Echavarria, Thank you for your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the slow and unhelpful responses you experienced from our team. This is not the level of support we aim to provide. We are also concerned to hear that your energy bills haven't changed. We'd like to investigate this. So we've escalated your concerns to the appropriate team and they will reach out to you in a timely manner to speak through your concerns. Knowledgeable and personable, and tries to give the customer the best solar value. I wish she would have given us more info on more expensive options (We would not have changed the system).
Installation: 5 stars. Independent inspector verified install, panels not exactly what we ordered (same performance). Quality of product and Service - 4 stars. Customer service unacceptable, too long and too expensive get fixed. After 39 days, we had Tesla fix the problem for free. One star. Due to the run-around and problem we had with service, I can only give them 2 stars for trustworthiness.

I just had the greatest crew come out and put solar on my second house. The electricians were: JACOB **/JORDAN **/CHRIS **. Team worked so great together. It took them no time at all to get the electrical boxes up and connected to the solar panels. It was fun just to watch how fast and well they worked together. I had very few questions as this was the second house I have had solar put on. A year ago, I had solar put on my rent house next door and I had no idea how much they were saving. After they moved out, I had a nice family of 5 people move in my 3-bedroom house (mom dad and 3 kids) after paying me first month rent and security deposit then they tried to get the power in their name and found out it would cost them $260 for an account. They were on a 6-month lease.
So, I told them to leave it in my name until they got settled. WHAT A SHOCK I GOT, THEIR BILL WAS JUST $16.97 FOR JAN AND 19.91 FOR FEB. Blue Bonnet has a $22 dollar base. So I called up FREEDOM SOLAR and had three trucks come out and hook me up. This company is fast/fair on pricing/and easy to get a hold. The way I see it the solar job that FREEDOM SOLAR did for me will pay for itself in about 5 years, if you are looking for solar give them a call at freedom solar 1800-504-2337. And if you are having a hard time believing my renters bills hit me up on Facebook, I will send you a copy of their bill. JAMES **. Again thank-you jacob/jordan/chris. The great electrical team for freedom solar.

Ticket # ** - I'm not able to monitor our system that we purchased through Freedom Solar as was part of the deal. I last talked with Ms S and she was able to see what our system is doing, I informed her that my app is showing 0 kW - solar, 0 kW - home, both power walls are at 100% and drawing 0 kW from the grid. This not knowing what is actually happening on my end has become unacceptable.
If this were a new vehicle I would have already returned it to the dealership. I'm afraid my patience has grown weary trying to resolve this. I get the same response with each call I've made, 02/27/25 Mr M, 02/28/25 Mr M, 03/01/25 left a voice message, 03/04/25 received email from Ms H, 03/07 Ms C and today 03/10/25 Ms S. All messages are the same "looking into it". I've uninstalled the app and reinstalled hoping that would work with no luck. Everyone I have talked to has been extremely polite but unable to give me any definitive answers. As I stated earlier, if it was a new car it would be headed back to the dealer.

I have my system now for about 18 months and never had all panels working. Service team is very friendly onsite, but is for some reason not able to fix completely. Also no clear advise on how this is compensated. Now my system has stopped powering house and grid for about 13 days now and no one proactively calls to fix and service team will take days if not weeks to come out. Monitor was broken a few times, then came back online. Now I find out that no power has been put into the house and grid via my electricity provider. Solar buy back plans are more expensive, so I guess I am lucky it is not July, August in Texas yet.

I am a Multi-Skilled Engineering Technician and selected Freedom based on their superior solar panels. The installation went well: 24 panels on my remote garage roof that is piped into my home panel 40' away. I measured 240 VAC output from the panels at 30 Amps in bright Florida sunlight, enough to power my electric dryer! The array powered both my old and new central A/C units through the hottest parts of about 2 years. The extra power is saved as a credit on my Duke Bill to cover night use - I elected not to go with the complication of a battery system. My initial investment should be paid off in savings long before the "Life" of the panels fades, and their superior technology should allow for longer than the advertised lifespan.
Hi Deejay, thank you for the stellar review! Our goal is to offer you a great experience from installation all the way through to any service needs you may have, over the course of your 25-year solar warranty. We look forward to continuing to exceed your expectations!

My overall experience with Freedom Solar has been very satisfying. The sign-up process was straightforward, although the entire process took about three months from start to finish, including obtaining necessary permits from the city, utility, and HOA. The timelines they provided were broad, but the estimations for each step were quite accurate.
I had 18 panels installed and it's expensive. But I was comfortable with putting out the money for doing the right thing, in terms of having solar, and with the knowledge that it does pay for itself. Maybe not as quickly as some people might say, but it does pay for itself. I use an app that monitors the solar panels' output and another Tesla app that tracks energy flow from the panels to the battery, the house, and the grid. I use the Tesla app a lot more than the other app.
Hi Mr. Alexander! Thank you so much for sharing your detailed experience with us. We're thrilled that you found the sign-up process clear and appreciated the transparency in our timelines for each step, especially given the involvement of city, utility, and HOA requirements. We understand that going solar is a significant investment, and it’s great to hear that you’re confident in its long-term benefits and sustainability. It’s also wonderful to know that you’re using both monitoring apps to track your system’s performance—seeing that clean energy flow firsthand can be so rewarding. Thank you again for choosing Freedom Solar to help power your home.

I first heard about Freedom Solar when I started searching for alternatives to handle the high electric bills in Florida, which have tripled since I moved there in 2020. Given that Florida is such a sunny state, solar energy seemed like the right choice. Out of several companies I considered, Freedom Solar offered the best deal and seemed very reputable.
The sign-up process was relatively good. The representative was upfront and honest, though there were some initial hurdles to overcome. Once those were addressed, everything proceeded quite smoothly.
I've only recently started relying on solar, so I haven't had enough time to see how it impacts my electric bills. There's an app that tracks production, but I haven't yet been able to correlate that data with my bills. I'm waiting for my first complete bill reflecting my solar usage to see the actual savings.
I've already recommended Freedom Solar to others. I evaluated five companies, and Freedom Solar stood out with honest communication and years of experience—about 17 years, which is reassuring in an industry full of transient companies.
As for the product itself, they use solar panels that produce slightly less power than the latest models, which I understand requires extra panels. However, despite the recent hurricane, the panels held up without issue, though it's too soon to speak to their long-term durability.
On a scale of 1 to 5, I'd rate my experience with Freedom Solar a 4, maybe even 4.5. Customer service is about a 4.5, and the product itself I'd rate a 4 due to the slightly older model panels. Pricing deserves a solid 5; the lease agreement I have means my payments stay flat over 30 years, which saves significantly compared to other companies with annual price hikes. Overall, I’ve been very satisfied with Freedom Solar.
HI Regis! Thank you so much for sharing your detailed experience with Freedom Solar! We're thrilled that our honest communication, stable pricing, and dependable customer service stood out to you, especially in a competitive market. It's great to hear that even after a hurricane, your system has held up strong, offering peace of mind about its resilience. As you begin seeing the impact on your bills, we hope the solar savings meet your expectations. Should you have any questions about tracking your usage or anything else, we’re here to help! Thank you again for your trust and for recommending us to others—we look forward to supporting you throughout your solar journey.

I had a fantastic experience with Freedom Solar. They were here when they were supposed to be, did what they were supposed to do, and put in a good system. I discovered them while researching solar providers in the Austin area, and they were highly rated, so I chose them. When the city inspector came to check the installation, he praised their work, noting that the inspection was almost unnecessary due to their precision. The main delay was obtaining permits from the city, but once that was sorted, the installation was completed in about three to four weeks. After going solar, I noticed a significant drop in my electric bill. Before the installation, my bill was nearly $197 and dropped to just over $50 the following month, demonstrating remarkable savings.
I was also impressed with their thoroughness. Our house, built in the 1960s, had outdated electric panels, which they completely replaced. Their team identified and labeled all circuits in the house. I give them a five-star rating. From customer service to the quality of the panels and electrical work, everything was first-class. The city's rebate and theirs reduced my net cost to around $15,000, which I found very reasonable.
Hi Wallace, Thank you so much for sharing your incredible experience with us! We're thrilled that our team's precision and dedication stood out, especially with the city inspector’s praise. It's great to hear that the installation went smoothly after the permit process, and that you're seeing such significant savings on your electric bill! I wanted to contribute to the environment, so my husband and I considered solar power. I contacted five different companies and Freedom was the only one that returned my call and showed up when they said they were going to. One company was a pure scam and the other three, we have never heard from. With Freedom Solar, our contact, Danny has been right on top of everything and in touch. We're now just waiting for the inspector and the city to come with the new meter.
Rob from Freedom Solar was also straightforward and professional, spending hours explaining everything to us, which was a key reason we chose them over others. However, when the guys came to put the panels in, they went up on the roof and said, “No. We're not gonna put the panels in today. You need a roof first.” It would have been helpful if Rob had a little more experience in determining whether the roof needed replacement and that would have saved us about a month and a half in getting the installation.
Despite this, I am completely satisfied with Freedom Solar. The installation team was professional and knew what they were doing. They're also planning to install an animal rack around the panels so the critters don't move. Overall, I've recommended Freedom Solar to several people. I've been very pleased with our decision to go solar with them, and I tell friends about the process and what Freedom did for us. Their whole team, from sales, design, to install and then to start up, has all been great. So far, the product has been very good. It's been a couple of months into a 25-year expected lifetime, but they provided all the documentation on the equipment for its ratings and listing.

Somebody walked the neighborhood and was talking about solar. I reached out to Freedom and to a couple other companies to get feedback and find a good reputable company. Freedom seemed to be the most reputable that I could find and I really liked their sales guy. His name was Chase and he was really informative. But I don't know if what he told me is all true, so now I'm having second thoughts about the whole seller experience. We talked about electric bills and he said I wouldn't have an electric bill unless it was an extremely hot summer. But last summer, it was very hot and he said he had a bill because of the hot summer. But I shouldn't have a bill. Last month, my second bill was $60, which is not much compared to what it could be if I didn't have the solar. I felt misled about that.
But the whole experience with Freedom at the beginning was great and they were efficient. They got out here and got the system installed. The solar panels look nice on the house. But there were some issues with getting the final step with Encore where they had my name wrong. So I asked them to fix the name. They said I had to call Encore and Encore said I had to call my provider. The provider said they couldn't change Encore’s records. So, I called back Encore, but the supervisor got it changed. Then things started moving again and I got the permission to operate.
Then I was told that it was time to choose a provider. The Freedom sales guy also told me they would help me choose a provider. But when it came time to choose, they gave me a list and said I needed to call the companies. So they weren't very helpful. I don't know if I picked the right provider and I don't know much about solar. I should have done my homework on it and I needed more guidance with the whole picking a company. Also, I went to this one place where they did a free analysis on who would be the best provider for me, and that was who I picked.
Right now, I'm getting a $30 bill every week from Freedom Sola. So it's going to be about 100 bucks a month. I don't know if I'm producing energy because it's been hot and sunny here. So I'm a little frustrated. But I welcome the chance to talk about it. Freedom's reps were good to work with and when I call, I can speak to people and they've been cordial. I just wish they would have given me a truer picture of what I was signing up for. They also didn't mention that twice a year, you have to pay to have the panels washed and it's a $600 to $800 expense. That was a total surprise to me and they didn't tell me that at all until I was closing up.

We purchased a new home last year. This whole neighborhood is new and several solar companies came by, wanting to know if they could schedule appointments for consultations. I talked to a few and got some information, and we had a consultation with a couple. The one that stood out was Freedom Solar because they have corporate accounts. Apple chose them. So, as big as Apple is, if they chose them, why wouldn't I choose them?
I was very disappointed and annoyed that we were told during the initial consultation thing that there's a federal tax credit of 30%, and they let us believe that we would receive a refund of about 30% of the system that we can keep or apply to a loan, which would reduce the payments. That was not true. You do get a credit, but they do not refund. They do not issue a refund of money. I've got to check with my accountant later on when we talk about our taxes to see exactly what we can do because getting a tax credit about the solar system was like $32,000. So, that's like a $10,000 tax credit. We were going to apply that to the loan because it takes the payments currently on it because it's financed for 25 years at a low interest rate, so the payments are $120 a month, which was great.
We built a new house in McKinney and had it for about 11 years from 2000 to 2011. And it was bigger than this house. This house currently we're in is about 1,600 square feet, and the house in McKinney was about 2,200. Our electric bills back then, in the summer, were exceeding 200. Electric bills are probably more for this house, although for us, the solar system picks up 70% of your electricity. That varies on days over all the month. So this summer, we pay 120 a month for the solar panels, and we have Trinity Valley Electric Co-Op. Our highest electric bill was $38. We keep our thermostat at 76 degrees 24 hours, seven days a week. We don't ever change it. I'm retired. I'm home most of the day. My partner works. In Texas, keeping your house at 76 degrees, and your electric bill is only $38 which was the highest one when it was in the hundreds, and I add on the 120 for the solar panels, that's still only $160 for electricity for the summer in Texas. That's awesome.
Freedom Solar offered referrals. If you refer someone, you get $500. When our neighbors moved in next door to us, they asked us about it, and we told them then what we thought was correct. They also signed up, so we got a $500 rebate. I'm satisfied that we did it because it's gonna save a small fortune. We bought this house to live and to retire. That's why it's 1,500 something square feet. We didn't want a great big house to have to heat and cool and take care of because I already retired. My partner's got about seven more years, and then he's gonna retire. So, we wanted to be in a house that we could maintain while we are retired.
Hi Mr. Manning! It sounds like you had quite a journey with your solar decision! It's understandable to feel frustrated about the tax credit information. While the federal tax credit is available to qualified individuals, it’s always a good idea to consult with a tax professional to clarify your eligibility and how it applies to your specific situation. It’s fantastic that you're seeing such significant savings on your electric bills, especially during the hot Texas summers. The combination of your solar system and the low monthly payments seems to be a great fit for your retirement plans. Plus, earning that referral bonus is a nice as well! Wishing you continued satisfaction with your solar investment and thanks for being the best part of Freedom Solar Power. From us to you, we wish you and your partner eternal happiness well into retirement!

I was pricing things out. From where I stood, Freedom Solar was the best deal in terms of price and financing. I asked last year about this time and then started pricing it out, and I got a couple of quotes. I put it off for a little while. Then somebody from Freedom Solar came back and was like, “Hey, I can lower it down to this much.” They were aggressive in trying to get my business. So, that's what I went with. I wasn't in need of it right away. So, I was on a flexible time schedule. I just said, “Whenever you show up, you show up.” Going solar was good. I like it. I like the app because it tells me what I'm spending or what I'm using and what I'm not. The savings is the best part of it. I know I'll get some savings down on the road but right now, I'm having to make the payments, too.
HI. Mr. Secrist. It sounds like you made a well-informed decision with Freedom Solar, especially considering the price and financing options they offered. It’s great to hear that they were proactive in meeting your needs and that you're already enjoying the benefits of the app to track your usage and savings. While the payments are part of the process, it’s encouraging that you're looking forward to the savings in the future. Overall, it seems like you're on a solid path to making the most of your solar investment!

I had a co-worker who uses Freedom Solar so he referred me and I was also looking to save a little bit of money on the energy bills. The guys who did the solar panel installation came out the same day like the electricians that they had. There was an issue with where they were gonna run a conduit line down the roof. And the guy asked me if I wanted to do it this way or this way and he did that. It was noninvasive as far as where the cable was. I use the app to track the progress. We've had some overcast days here recently. But other than that, I’m happy with what it's producing. Freedom was easy to work and I'm satisfied.

I looked up Freedom Solar and liked the reviews that I saw. The reps were very professional and helped me stay within a budget that I could afford. I already knew I wanted solar, so it was good that I didn't have to go through a major sales pitch. The installation was oblivious to me because all I had to do was give them access to my Wi-Fi so I would be able to have a connection to it via my smartphone. But otherwise, they did everything and cleaned up after they finished.
I’m very satisfied with Freedom and I brought them back to install the battery backup, the Tesla unit. The Enphase application comes with the solar package and that was informative, but the application that came with my Tesla battery backup allows me to know exactly what I'm producing, what's going towards the battery and the house, and what's going back to the energy company. If you're interested in solar, I would recommend Freedom because they are very direct, efficient and concerned about your progress along the way.

Freedom Solar is a good company to consider. Some of the other companies we looked at had this or that or other things going on and I can see where that'd be positive for different people but for us, for what we were looking for for our time scale, Freedom Solar met that bill. There is an app which allows us to monitor how much is being produced and I'm checking it twice a day. Usually, towards the afternoon, I wanna see how we've been doing during the day. Then I'll do it again the following morning and see how we did. I also take a look at a snapshot for the week and for the month, see where we are and what our total electrical bill for the month will be from that usage. Looking at the numbers go up and down and the fact that we can track everything is wonderful. We have lower bills since the system was installed.

The app is user-friendly and gives me the information I need. The only thing I'm concerned about right now is I thought it would cover all of my power bill but I noticed last month that I'm paying $200 for my electricity. I might need more panels 'cause I don't produce enough electricity to cover my electric bill.

I had investigated solar back years ago and decided it wasn't for me because it had a 20-year break-even deal. And that's what I'm seeing now. However, the rebates that were offered on taxes were appealing to me at this time because I had just sold my business and was looking at a big capital gains tax. So it came to the point to either invest in solar or pay capital gains tax. I decided I'd invest in the solar. Plus, the bonus was that they now have the Tesla battery packs because I was looking at getting a home generator, which would be $10,000, and then you have to maintain and feed it when it's running. So the battery packs negated the need for the generator, which was a plus.
Freedom Solar was probably the first one that I came across and their customer support was available whenever I've had any questions. I am impressed with the ability of the solar to make some power because the first full month it was active, it cut my power bill by 300-some odd dollars. If I saved $3,500 a year for 20 years, that's $70,000. So that's the breakeven deal.
I took advantage of the rebate and the only thing I have against it now is just, two days ago, when the storm was approaching, I got a notice on my phone that FP&L decided they would charge my batteries to 100% off of the grid two days before the storm. They made this decision unilaterally instead of letting me charge it with my system and then maybe topping it off the night before the storm if need be. They put me full on the grid except for a little bit of power we made yesterday, which was not much because of the storm. And the last month, we had inclement weather most of the month. My power bill was still about half of what it would have been normally but it doubled. I don't care for FP&L having that much control over what goes on here in my house. So, I'm gonna see if I can't change that.

I did a web search of some solar companies in Dallas, Texas on Reddit, and I saw that Freedom Solar had a really good customer service rating and everyone recommended them. My first interest in solar was, previous to this home, one of my friends had said they got solar and they had loved it because it was helping them cut down the cost and they were locking in their energy rate for years to come. That's what we wanted to do with it.
The signup experience was easy. I went on Freedom Solar's website and they put me in touch with a sales person. The sales person was really good about answering my questions. It wasn't salesy. He was giving me all the information that I needed. When I said I'm gonna look at some other places, he said, “Make sure you ask these questions. These are super important.” He ushered me through the process. My only downside to that whole experience was after the sale, that customer support from the sales person dropped off a little, and it was more or less he had already gotten the sale so he didn't need to help me as much as possible. He still helps a bit here and there, but he wasn't as supportive as it was before the sale. In a way, that could be viewed by other people as skeezy. They're gonna do everything they can before they get the sale, but once they get the sale, it's a situation like, “Okay. Here's the process. Good luck.”
The installation was the best part of the process. It was in and out, and the team was amazing. The guy came to the front door, introduced it, and said, “Hey, I'm sorry. We got here a little early. Is it okay that we start a few minutes early?” I said, “Absolutely!” They were done in just a few hours. The guy came in and told me the next step and shook my hand. That was a really great experience, and everything's been working really well. However, I was a little frustrated because after the sale and the installation, they dropped the ball on the process explanation. I've called and talked to them about this.
I got these generic messages about the portal, and I go on there and I would call. Sometimes, the agents would give me wrong information. It pushed our completion date out a little because we were waiting for something that I needed to do on my own. When I followed up with Garland Power and Light, they said, “Yeah, you need to send an email to this to get it scheduled to permission to operate.” Getting our completion date pushed a bit was a little frustrating to me because we were trying to get it started as soon as possible. However, it was really great and generous that they paid for the first month of our loan because that had got pushed out for completion.
Aside from customer service, I am a little frustrated to this point right now because we signed up with Freedom Solar and went with the SunPower route due to being able to get two rebates. One was $1,500 from Freedom Solar and the other one was $2,500 from SunPower. We were waiting on that from SunPower and I reached out to Freedom Solar to see if they could help me with that. I found out that SunPower is about to go through a bankruptcy, and no one really wants to try to help me to get that. We were expecting to get another $2,500 back in rebates, and we are left out in the dark of what we need to do. It would be very good of a business for them to offer us that rebate because that's the reason we went with that route. Otherwise, we may not even have gotten solar at that point because $2,500, to us, is a deal.
Freedom Solar has always made it right. They've always reached out to me and got back to me if I had a complaint or if I was upset. The installation and the current functioning is amazing. I appreciate that they went out of their way to give me a call back and say, “Hey, we're gonna try to fix that process. We appreciate the feedback.” I would definitely go with them because they seem like they're trusting.

Until now, my interactions with the Freedom Solar reps are above expectation. They are understanding and experienced. Customer service is good. As far as the product, it was 6.5 kilowatts and I was told 85% generation. Now, it is generating 58. All the calculation that we did is falling apart. I'm getting a benefit of around 50 bucks a month I'm receiving and that will take me 30 years to pay off my investment. So, that calculation somehow was missed. Price was good. It is high end, but it was competitive in the market. If you talk about Tesla, then it's competitive. But if you talk about the midrange, they are way too high. Midrange people charge you maybe 30% less.

I spoke with a few different representatives from a few different solar companies, and Freedom Solar was the one that seemed to be the least scammy. The other ones were having clearly more shady disingenuous pricing options that weren't based on how much the panels were gonna cost and that were based more on what they thought would be able to get from me. In talking with Freedom Solar, it seems like that was not the case with them. Theirs was truly based on the actual value of the system.
The process happened in a bunch of different stages. They gave a timeline and they were faster than the timeline. The system has been good. It works as intended. It's hard to tell if it's gonna exactly do what it's supposed to in terms of zeroing out my electric bill because we haven't gone through a winter cycle yet. Just looking at the data from the panels, it seems like it will be able to. Our electrical bill is heavily reduced. So far, I haven't been disappointed with Freedom. Customer service was really good at a personal level. The solar panels are really user-friendly, and it gives lots of interesting metrics. I can look at consolidated information or very granular information. It's cool.

My buddy down the street used Freedom Solar to get solar panels installed. I had seen other solar companies on different houses, but I was really impressed with the install that Freedom Solar did on his house, so I chose to go with them. Getting set up was great. I knew what I wanted. We live way out in the country, so I ended up purchasing it over the phone with the salesman. I didn't even have him come out because there was no need for that. Once I signed the contract, then they sent people out to the house to take measurements but initially, I wasn't a hard sale for them.
They were really quick with the installation. They started as scheduled until a couple days later, but that wasn't their fault. That was because of the weather. But once they did, they had everything and they installed in a day, which was good. 95% of it was really good quality work. Everything was great until it was installed, and they just wiped their hands and haven't been any help ever since. I had a couple concerns after it was all done and set up like the computer that's supposed to be mounted in a box. At the time of install, I didn't notice that they didn't mount it. It's just sitting in the bottom, bending the wires and everything. I called them back on it. They said, “Oh, okay. We'll come look at it.” I never heard back. I called them again. I never heard back. It was like it's installed, they got their money, they don't want anything to do with me anymore.
My friend recommended them highly. They did a good job on his place, but I would not recommend them to somebody because of the lack of service after the fact. They don't wanna deal with me. I'm not trying to call them all the time. Another problem I have is some of the panels don't produce a whole lot. I've called them on these panels that aren't producing. What it seems like is they put too many panels in one line. The first 10 are producing great. The one extra they should probably put on its own line aren't producing well. I told them about it, and they said, “Oh, it's just shadows. You got shadows.” I went out there. I set up a GoPro on a time lapse. I took a video of the roof all day long to show them there are no shadows where this panel isn't producing. They don't wanna help because that would involve them having to come out and do something.

Freedom Solar sent out a salesperson who answered all of our questions and was very transparent and aboveboard. The price that they said it was gonna be was exactly what it was. After we signed the contract, they had to have their guy come out and determine what it would look like. Our roof is not flat and he wanted to check the angles and see if they needed to prop them up. That took about three weeks. Then they came up with the design for it but Core held them up for about a month on the design. Core limits how many panels we can have to how much we use, which they vastly underestimated and we will be getting more panels. Core only allowed us to get nine panels and we need at least 11.
Once Core okayed the design and the installation, Freedom Solar had the panels down here within another two weeks and got all the panels on within less than two weeks. They got all the wiring set up and got the proper labels that Core wanted on the box. It took an extra week because they didn't like Freedom Solar’s labels. Eliminating the delays caused by Core, it took Freedom Solar three months from the start of the contract to getting the panels up on our roof.
Freedom Solar couldn't put the batteries in until they got the clearance. It took us six months to go online because of Core, our electrical company, and to a point where we had to stay in a motel one night because they had insisted that they take us offline so that they could check all the circuits. But they didn't come out to check them. Freedom Solar couldn't turn them back on again without Core saying it was okay to do it. Freedom Solar put us up in a dog-friendly motel, so we could bring our dog with us, and they paid for our dinner.
We would do it again with Freedom Solar. When our house got hit by lightning and all of the panels tripped, we called Freedom Solar and they had it fixed within 15 minutes. I paid the electric bill today and it was $37, which is low. $25 of that is the fee they charge us every month for being attached to the grid. It used to be significantly more because lights, TVs, and radios. I work remotely as well. We also have an EV that we charge. My husband goes in the app all the time and likes looking at it. He's very happy with it. It's like a new toy.

Freedom Solar came in, explained the system to us and suggested where to put them. They took a drone around the roof and looked at the shade covering. They also looked at the structure of the roof. They walked us through the amount of energy we could produce and how we would have additional ones installed with the current utility meter. That meter would measure how much the panels were receiving. We also have an app that connects with the box and it tells me real-time how much energy I'm producing and how much I'm getting from the utility.
I've told my brother-in-law to do Freedom Soler. The rep, Ritz, was good about explaining and following through, which is very rare in some companies. The electrician and the solar people were good about contacting us, not just the day of, but a few days before and when they were en route. They explained the process and told us what would happen. The electrician said that once he installed the meter, the utility would come in and do the inspection. There were some things they couldn't give me specific date for like the inspection because that's the utility. But everything else, they could. Unfortunately, we've had some kind of cloudy days here. We were producing sometimes 80% to 100% solar we were consuming but right now, with the AC almost continuously, we're producing 25%, sometimes on a good day, 50%, of what we consume.
HI Mr. Nunez! Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s fantastic to hear that the Freedom Solar team provided thorough explanations and helpful insights during the installation process. Signing up with Freedom Solar was great. Their rep came and showed us everything in detail. He was very professional. He answered all the questions that we had about the panels and how long it was gonna take. He kept with us until the installation team came in. Those guys are great. My prices have since went down. We have the battery and the solar, and it's been a big difference. I only paid 30 bucks for electricity, which compensates for the payment of the solar panel. Freedom Solar is awesome. They're a legit company and the material they use is good. They give you the choice to select what type of solar do you want. They will also help you all the way. I got the permission to operate right before the hurricane hit. Before the hurricane hit, Freedom Solar called, said that I was showing low voltage, and they would send somebody out. But the hurricane hit and the neighborhood was without power. I had power the whole six days. Afterwards, they sent people out. The electricians had done the Powerwall and said it looked good. They sent the people out to put the panels up but when they got everything installed they forgot to hook one of the lines up. I went through the hurricane with 11 panels instead of 22. I had power but we had cold water. We took cold showers. We didn't wanna use the hot water heater and turned the AC off. But we cooked and even did a load of wash. I’m happy.

They answer my questions courteously and expeditiously and they get me answers within sometimes 10 minutes. We are still in the works, though. The panels were good, but the monitoring is out of battery. It's a Tesla battery and the monitoring was actually Tesla. They monitor on a regular basis and they said there might have been one panel that's off. They contacted Freedom and Freedom was out here yesterday. They sent an electrician to look at it and he lit the panel. He did the test while he was in customer service with Tesla and they were back here the next day.

The government covered a third of it but they're trying to get everybody to switch off the grid so you would think that the government would have covered more or maybe the company would have gotten some kind of a deal with the government and lower the prices a bit more.

I liked the sales guy who came out and talked to me. He respected my time and the price was right compared to other systems that I could use. Their project managers were good but communication could have been a little bit better with Freedom and their project management. It's just there was one transition where I think one project manager got moved to a different department or a different area. I had to start over with a new project manager. Also, there was more rules and regulations than I thought going into the project of getting my house hooked up with solar. We were going back and forth between the electric company, the county, and Freedom Solar, making sure that everyone was on the same page. But it all got resolved and everything's running great right now. The solar has been active for three to four months now and there's been little bit of cost savings compared to what I was paying.
Freedom Solar does the monitoring and they will notify me if someone needs to come out and make any adjustments to my panels. I also have an application on my phone where I can monitor the performance of the system and I think there is a way that I can individually look at them. They've needed to make adjustments to the system once. It happened not even a month after the install and the permission to go ahead and operate was granted. They were cut on and about three weeks later, I got a phone call from Freedom, saying that they were monitoring the system and one of the panels needed a slight adjustment and that a technician would be out that day. They came out and they didn't even bother me at all. They just got up on the roof, made whatever adjustment that they needed to, and everything was working at its peak performance from there.

Our overall experience with Freedom Solar was positive. The process was seamless from the proposal to the final installation. The only hiccup we had was with the city and the process of obtaining a permit. I had to follow the permit process all the way through as there were a few holdups along the way and the Freedom Solar engineers did not follow up with the city. Once I alerted the Freedom Solar engineers to the problem at the city they got the problem worked out. The process started out great all along way with the salesperson reassurance that we would have enough panels to supply all the power needed for the house. I explained several times that I wanted extra panels because I was going to put a shop in within the year. I was also told that there’s a few month period that goes by to zero out the account. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. I was also told that they would assist us in getting the information for the rebates. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. Once the system was installed I NEVER had any contact with the salesperson except for the time he said he was hoping to check into why the system wasn’t producing the amount of usage.
THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. Be careful with this company because I was making payments on the equipment before it was operational!!!! Management is no help at all. And yes Mosaic (the lender) will lien your house despite what Freedom tells you! Shop around and you can get a better system for less! By the way the salesperson said that they would guarantee that the system would produce the equivalent amount of the year’s usage from Tri County. Not I’m paying $250 plus the $100 for the utility company!

Unfortunately, I have to update my review with this downgrade. To be fair, I have loved the performance of my system until this latest issue. It appears that once Freedom Solar has your money you can forget about any support from them. I have started having problems with my battery backup system so I tried to contact Freedom Solar service by phone, by chat, by email with no response or even acknowledgement that they will look at the issue to diagnose and fix the issue. When you call you're put on hold and after a while the phone system cuts you off. They offer a call back option but they never call back.
I've submitted service requests through email with no response. I've been on their chat where they promise to contact the service department but nothing! It's more than frustrating. Since then I've been in contact with Tesla support and they have connected me with another company to look at my problem. Bottomline, once Freedom takes your money don't expect them to live up to their commitment!!

I was looking for somebody to put solar panels on my new house and I reached out to the guy who had sold me solar panels on my previous house. He said he's no longer affiliated with that company, but that he would help me find someone that could do it and find the best deal. He found Freedom and explained what they could do and then hooked me up with them. Freedom's customer-service was straightforward. They showed up and asked me what I was looking for, what type of system, and how much I wanted.
I told them I didn't want to store energy. I just wanted to generate some to offset some of the cost of heating and cooling the house. Because it was a new build, we didn't have the history of the electricity to be able to say, "This is how much you're averaging." I just told them to take some houses in the area that are about this many square feet and go off of what they do. Then I explained there are only two people living in this house, so we stay on the low side. They told me how many panels I’d need.
Curiously, I had asked the builder what they were gonna build next to me. I wanted to make sure they didn't put a two-story house because someone's gonna put solar panels. They said they weren't. In the end, they ended up building a two-story house next to me. It reduced the amount of sun that I would get on that side. The panels were gonna be on the street side, so they wouldn't be seen. But they contacted me and said I needed to add two more arrays to the system. They were pretty straightforward. They explained it to me and left it up to me. I said, “Yeah. Go ahead. Add them on.”
As far as the installation, they told me where the crew would be coming to put them on. Then they showed up on time like they had promised. They put the panels all up in one day. The City of New Braunfels is a little bit tough on solar panels and the connections they certify. So, they left it. They said they'd be back as soon as they got approved with the city to put it on the grid. It took about three weeks. Then they showed up and met somebody from utility and got it all tied in and got it ready like they said they would.
I'm very satisfied with solar power. I had already played with the math at the other house. So, we're seeing about what I expected to get in savings against our electric bill. I know it'll only get better because the cost of power will only go up. We were basing it on 5 cents per kilowatt hour. 10 years from now, it'll be more than that. So, I know it'll accelerate my return on investment.
As far as customer service, I don't know what they could do more. I did get the printout of what they were proposing and the layout, and somebody explained it to me. Then after they put it in, I had to follow up where they came to make sure it was running the way it's supposed to. I had the app on my phone and I know how to use that. So, everything was as promised. The guy that I had originally contacted to help me set it up sent me a pie. My financial planner sends me a thing called a Tootie Pie every year for being a customer, and this guy sent me a pie. It was a tongue-in-cheek joke. I thought it was hilarious, but I did appreciate that he reached back to me and asked me, “Were you happy with everything I helped you with?” I said, “Yes.” Overall, I got what I was promised.

Updated on 12/19/2024: If I could lower my initial rating I would. I called to request installation of Tesla Wall Connector, which I bought from Tesla. They quoted me $2100, which included a $1200 rebate from Austin Energy and a $630 Federal Tax Credit, which brings down my bottom line to $270. After installation, I only received $900 rebate from Austin Energy, being told that the Tesla Wall Connector is non-OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) compliant. I ended up spending $570 on the installation. Freedom Solar provided me a wrong quote due to incorrect information on their end. I got a $420 quote from a different provider. Had I known earlier that I would spend $570, I would not have pushed through with Freedom Solar. Avoid them at all costs. There are better providers out there.
Original Review: The sales rep explained all the things that they would do and what's good about their product. Then, the installation went well. I've had the solar panels for about six months now and Freedom follows through every once in a while.

It was frustrating to me that lots of solar people that I dealt with couldn't even say what panels they were going to use. They were just like, "It's gonna have a great warranty. We don't know what brand we're gonna use, but it's great." With Freedom Solar, their brands made sense to me and it made it easier for me to do my research on what panels we were getting, what inverters we were getting and all of the different services that were included. That was a huge factor in why I chose them was product knowledge. Also, I like microinverters versus centralized inverters. They also assign you a representative and you talk to that person and that person fields all of your questions. And my person did a really good job.
The installation process got stretched out a little bit because of Xcel. That wasn't a function of them at all. But getting the panels installed took about four months, and it took a month before Xcel did the cutover. The installers were polite, and timely, they remembered that I needed to bring the dog inside because they needed access to my backyard. They were good all around.

They came out for the installation and put the panels on. A week later, a different technician comes out, approves everything, and actually hooks it up with an electric license to the power system itself. We've done some different things, and he's always been available to help and answer questions and get the right people engaged if I ever needed any assistance. We've had two installs done with them. The first one was for the panels then more recently, we had a Powerwall put in. Freedom Solar was very good. When I first started, I asked them what was the realistic date of getting the system installed because there were so many approvals they needed to get, including the ones from the utility and the county. I wanted to have a realistic estimate and they beat that estimate that they had given me. So that was impressive, given all the nasty stuff written on the internet about how long it takes. Their reps also kept me updated on what was going on. The people who did the installation were very organized. They did it very quickly in less than a day and I was impressed. I got 22 panels and they seem to be good. We've pretty much hit what they had predicted in terms of how much power they're going to provide as opposed to getting it from the utility.

I liked their software and cost, and the guy that was selling it wasn't pushing. When the installers came in, they installed the system and were gone within five hours. They did good work. They had me inspect everything and everything looked good. It was exactly like the diagram showed it would be. We did a walkthrough as much as we can, and they explained everything to me, told me how long it would take for stuff to activate and what the next step was. They also showed me two apps, one to keep track of any referrals I have, and then one for consumption. There was one panel that didn't connect correctly. We didn't figure it out for a couple of days, but the tech came out and fixed it within a week. I only pay 35.95 a month for my power now and I paid $150 a month before.

Freedom Solar Power installed the system five months after I did the purchase. They had to let people go so they had more work than people. But the installers explained to me what they were doing. Any other questions that they couldn't answer, they told me to call their office. The price Freedom Solar Power told me was the right price. If I got the lump sum, then it would have been a different price. I didn't get the lump sum, so I'm paying the higher price. Freedom Solar Power needs to explain the payment process a lot better. They said that I would get 30% fax rebate all at once, but you don't get it all at once. I get the same amount for the next couple of years until it equals that value that they said I could get it at lump sum. I probably wouldn't have got it if it was the other way around.

I liked the power presentation that we had for the contract with the site visit. There was a very prompt response when I reached out to have someone come up. There was only one instance where there was a delay. For some reason, the first electrician needed a part that he didn't have in his vehicle. So he had to postpone initiating the service. There was a two-week delay for that to happen. But that would be actually the only bump in the road. Everybody was really good. We received our predicted 30% federal tax credit. So that was a big bonus. I was thrilled.
The only remuneration we received was when we had to set up an app. It's separate from the monitoring app because with the presentation of the contract, there was a three-month payment of electricity bills. So I had to create a Freedom Solar app and it was somewhere between $350 and $400 for three months of electricity bill payments.

Freedom Solar Power has better technology and newer technology, and they helped me get a good loan for the solar panels. The only problem I had was that they didn't divulge all the information they should have. We were under the assumption that we would get credited whatever the power companies were charging us for electricity, which is not true. There's not a power company in the world that'll do it. If I paid 9.9 cents per kilowatt hour from a power company and I produce more than I'm using, that will give me about half a penny for each kilowatt that they buy back from me. Any extra energy I produce, they buy back but it's at a whole lot lower rate. Once I got the solar panels installed and started looking around for power companies in Texas that would buy back energy, that's when I found out. Even if I have more solar panels where I become self-sufficient, they won't buy any of it back. They consider me a farm then.
The installation took less than a day. They got up there and got on it and knocked it out quickly. They did excellent work. I had to contact their customer service for one question. I didn't know exactly what the maximum wattage of power my panels were putting out. They gave me the information right there on the phone. I have 22 panels on my house. I can monitor the production off my computer or my phone. The app is very user-friendly.
On their website, you can look at the panels themselves. They have a button you click on. It shows the panels any time of the day, and it shows you exactly what each panel individually is putting out at that time in real time. They monitor them also. If there is an issue, they will notify me. Their tools and everything are very good. It's easy to use. You can look at day, week, month, year, and lifetime. You can even customize it.
During the summer time, I generate a good portion of energy. Yesterday, I produced 49.4 kilowatt hours and I use 49.8. So, I was right at 99%. In the summer time, my bill is about 100 bucks a month. And if they paid me a decent buyback price, it would be a lot less than that. During the summer, I'd almost be zero bill. On March the 16th, I only produced 6.5 kilowatts, and I used 17.8 but it was raining that day. March the 17th was sunny all day. I produced 150%. I produced 36.2 and I only used 24.1. When I found out the buyback was so cheap, I thought about installing a few more panels and maybe even put a couple of batteries in. But then I found out that if I produce more than 100% every day, they just consider me a farm, and they won't give me any money back to the extra energy. It just goes back in the grid at my cost. I wouldn't get anything out of it.
Even now, the amount that they pay me is hardly anything. I wasn't savvy of that. In a way, I blame myself. I should have checked it out more before I bought the panels. If I'd known that, I wouldn't have bought them. I was expecting at least a break-even so I can pay for the panels. I got a loan from a credit union to pay for the panels and that's right at $300 a month. And whatever my electric bill cost me is my energy charge. I'd recommend Freedom Solar to other people, but I will tell them, before they put panels on, to check because they're not gonna make any money. They're not even gonna break even.

Other than that, they came to the home and did the installation. For the solar, it took about two days. We also did a Tesla Powerwall, and that took a little longer. I enjoyed the pricing of Freedom Solar and the explanation of everything but the signing up experience with the rep was almost negative. The way it was described to me was that it would severely or greatly take down some of my payments. But he didn't compensate for anything. It was a one-on-one exchange. From what he described, it was a little different. But the installation day was smooth. It took about five hours on the first day because of the weather and the second day took about four hours. I called Freedom Solar Power and they sent someone out to give me a presentation. The salesman was able to go into enough details for me to understand the quality of the product and the warranties that came with purchasing from them. From the time that I had the presentation to the time that I was able to get the project completed, it was two months. They came out and had drone footage of the area. Then they designed the system. When they came out to install it, it took them five hours.
Through SunPower, they have a neat app where I can monitor the system. I'm happy with the product and their work. I don't think Freedom Solar was the cheapest option, but they installed in such a way that they were able to convince me that I could pay a little bit more and get a better-quality product. They give you an inverter for every panel, which costs more than the way a lot of people may install solar. Others may give you a single inverter for the whole system. If one panel goes down, the whole system goes down, whereas the way Freedom Solar installs it, if one panel goes down, it's just that panel that goes down.

The signing process at Freedom Solar is good and easy. The reps were very professional. The entire process was difficult, but not because of Freedom Solar. They worked their tails off. It was our HOA that was the problem. But they kept fighting on our behalf until we finally got it through. However, I didn't think the Freedom Solar rep did a very good job explaining the buyback program. We didn't understand it right. We've had to adjust how we use our power, making sure we do heavy-duty stuff in the daytime when the solar is producing. Because it's not one-to-one. I gather 600 kilowatts today and I use 500, and I just get 100 back. Because it's the actual time, so it doesn't offset the other usage. It was not explained that way. One of the main reasons I wanted to go solar was I had a good place for it. I had a metal building with a relatively flat roof. So we got some on each side of the peak and some panels on each side. If I would have shingles and if I would have had the only choice of putting it on my house with shingles, I might not have done it. But since I had a good place for it, I figured, I didn't have to put it out in the yard and I didn't have to put it on my house. So I like putting it on the metal building and I got 40 panels on there. 20 on each side of the peak and at different times of day, they have a different efficiency.
Freedom Solar was good. I had 20 panels put in on one of my meters for the house, then I had 20 panels put in on the meter for the metal building. I have two accounts and before I got the second 20 panels in, my salesman left Freedom Solar. But I still got good service and they had good rebate. Also, they had to install some of the panels in the heat of the day in Texas in the summer. So some of it was pretty hard stuff.

Freedom exceeded expectations. People talk about being customer-centric and they absolutely were. A lot of the other competitors were trying to sell me way more solar than we actually needed, which would diminish the payback period and the cost-effectiveness of going solar. Different locations have different things. If you overproduce electricity, you send it back to the grid and the electric company will give you a wholesale price. So, they'll basically give you pennies on the dollar. On the other hand, if you pull electricity from the grid, they'll charge you retail price. If it's a dollar per kilowatt and I pull a kilowatt, I have to pay a dollar, but if I send a kilowatt back, the electric company will give me a nickel. So, overselling a customer on solar is not good and it really chews up that cost-benefit ratio.
Ritz, our salesperson, was awesome, and I loved her. She had first-hand experience as an installer and didn't try to oversell the system based on our needs. The other salespeople were trying to sell me a bigger system because it costs more, which essentially would give them a bigger commission, and Freedom wasn't interested in that. They were interested in helping me make sure that I got the right deal that fits the needs that we have. I can't stomp my foot and wave my hands to say enough about that, but they really cared about what was in our best interest, almost as a fiduciary, where a lot of the other folks out there don't do it that way. I would definitely recommend others to use Freedom. They were phenomenal.

We got a lot of information and all of our questions were answered. Everything the Freedom Solar Power representative told us came true. It was exactly as he described it would happen. The interactions with the installers were all very good. They explained what they were doing and I had a pretty clear understanding of what would happen from the previous two encounters after agreeing to take on solar.
My billing period was from usually the second week of the month to the second week of the next month and my system was activated at the three-and-a-half-week period. I had to finish up the billing cycle that occurred during the activation and while I could see some decline, a large chunk of the billing period was before the activation. It took about a full billing period to really see the decline and it was a very stark decline. I am very pleased with everything that we had done. I've been in touch with our FSP representative and considering adding a few more panels. Installation took a little longer than expected, but once they started, it was over quick. The system has been working excellent. Overall, Freedom Solar Power has been easy to work with, the apps work good, and the equipment seems excellent.

I'm very satisfied with Freedom Solar. They worked with us to design the fit for our house, knowing what we needed. We wanted our refrigerator not to be turned off and lose everything in it should the grid go down, but not that we needed to be off the grid. We didn't need a whole bunch of batteries. The salesperson, Brad, had a conversation with us about what ideally we wanted so that they could design it the way we wanted. He was able to educate us during the course of his sales presentation in layman's terms. He did a great job of explaining what all of it was and how it would work.
It was a very pleasant experience from the sales aspect through the completion of it. They had a regimented process that they went through. They were thorough in telling us how long it would be from our first conversation to the completion of everything being installed and us being able to start using to the system. I don't see a calculation of what my overage is that's going to the grid but I see what we're producing at the time that we're producing. They were right on target for everything that they said each step would take. We got what we asked for and that's why would tell someone else about them.
Thank you for the stellar review! It sounds like Brad did a fantastic job representing Freedom Solar and our values. Our goal is to offer you a great experience from installation all the way through to any service needs you may have. We look forward to continuing to exceed your expectations!

I like that Freedom Solar does everything and their warranty is really good. The system is worth it to me. Solar power is more expensive than anybody, but what they offer and what they do are what sold it to me. To sign-up, I called their guy, and made an appointment. He came down, he went over the whole spiel, I asked my question, signed the paper, and gave him a check. The installation was good. The installers knew what they were doing. When they came out, they had all the parts and pieces, and they were experienced.
My system has been active since April, and I've paid very minimum bills since May. It works best on sunny days. Mine works fine if it's partly cloudy, but if you get a day that's really cloudy, we're only putting out like one kilowatt to the grid. All through the summer, as hot as it was, I gave back to the system. Some people don't have as many panels, and they were getting electric bills because they weren't putting down enough. When the salesman was here, he was looking at it, and I said, "No, I wanna go the 14 because I know in the summertime what my bills are." So, we have 28 panels.

I asked what was the most important I needed to know if I wanted to choose to go with solar, and the representative of Freedom Solar Power was very straightforward. When I spoke with other representatives from other companies, they tried to sell without making it about what I needed. The installation was super easy. However, when the guys finished installation, for a couple of days, they turned on incorrectly. On my app, it was reading the opposite way. But when the specialist came, he just flipped the cords and it started working perfectly. Also, the whole process with the approval of the city permit took a bit longer than I expected. But that was only thing. They have a fair price in terms of quality and service. I will recommend them.

My experience with Freedom Solar Power was great. They did all the filing. The only problem was the city, the county, and all that paperwork were taking so long. It's the other side and the utility company. But other than that, they know what they're doing and they got stuff done. I could tell that it was helping in the summertime with the electricity, even in the wintertime. My neighbor was paying almost 400 a month. But I was not paying that. I also don't use my power during the winter. Their product is good. So far, it's working. I had two panels that were not working. But they have a system where they can see and they came and replaced them. I like that the new solar system is centralized. Every panel has its own inverter. So, if you have 30 panels, then 3 get off, you're still producing. It's not like the system is shut down. It's also affordable.

The sign up process and the installation went smoothly. Recently, we got a very large unit and it was initially covering all our solar, but then in the last couple of months, our production has really gone down. So now we're having to pay electric bills on top of that. I reached out to my rep, Chantelle, to ask, “Hey, what's going on there? Is it typical for the season?” But I haven't heard back from her. I also have questions about my tax rebate and how to go about filing for that. But I haven't really heard from her.

When they first turned on the system, it didn't work properly and I had very difficult getting through to them in Florida to come out and fix it. But as it turned out, the fellow in Florida was away. After that, everything was perfect. The signing up process was good. But after the final signature and to get the approvals and get it done took a little bit of time. The system didn't get installed until August and I missed all the nice, sunny months, so I'm just producing what I can use right now, and there's no build-up.

I started researching in 2022, and I had three companies who came and I spoke with them. Freedom Solar warrantied all of the components of the solar installation. The other companies didn't do that. There was also a Denver office for Freedom Solar, which was a benefit to me since I live an hour from Denver. Some of the other companies were from far away and I wasn't sure what kind of customer service I'd get.
I was very satisfied with the sign up process. They did everything relatively quickly. After it was all done and I wrote all the checks, somebody came out and put a critter guard around all the panels. I didn't even know they were gonna do that. But they spent several hours putting wire mesh barriers around each panel so that squirrels couldn't get under them. It wasn't an extra charge. That was part of the deal which I didn't even know about. So they were pretty comprehensive.
I made my first payment at the end of 2022 and Freedom Solar completed the job this summer and it's performing quite well. I'm satisfied with their work, and the benefits of it are good. I just called them yesterday and they sent me an invoice of the total project, so I can use it for my taxes, which I'll get a 30% rebate. I have an electric car. So it's very nice to be able to drive around for free and get the benefits of the solar panels. I have a 220 outline in my garage and I just plug the car in. I do it in the evening because the rates are lower. But then the net metering means that during the day, I'm putting energy back into the grid and getting paid 95% of the cost of it.

They seemed more efficient. They made the process easy. The installers came out to the site and surveyed. They came out on a few occasions. It took a day to do the installation. It was all very simple. I wish everything in life was as easy. Freedom Solar was perfect. They couldn't have done any more for us. But the city inspector and Duke Energy didn't make it as easy as it could have been.

I was not given the full information about the federal tax credit and how it would be used. I didn't realize that the payments would be $300 a month, plus me having to pay for the residual on the electrical company. That was not fully defined to me. There were so many gaps in the presentation that was afforded to me by the sales representative that he was caught out and he ended up leaving Freedom. I tried to get him back to my house to fully explain some of the areas that I had questions on and he never returned my phone call. I was under the understanding that the solar panels would give me a break-even, and I wouldn't have to pay for anything, except for the amortization of the solar panels. But that's not true. I spoke to the management in Austin and they tried to explain it to me. But it was saying, it is what it is, which just thoroughly pissed me off.
Freedom told me that I was gonna pay $204 a month, fixed cost for the rest of the term. But they didn't tell me that I had to pay $300 for 18 months first, then get to the $204. But that's only if I had a tax credit that I would fully utilize the tax credit in the first 18 months. I'm retired. My tax credit is $19,500, approximately. I'm not paying that kind of tax anymore. I'm on a fixed income and I might pay $4,000 in tax. So how can I fully take advantage of the federal tax credit if I can't fully utilize it? None of these things were explained to me. I had to find them out all on my own.

At closing, they were giving so many promises. They said that I was gonna get incentives. There are cloudy days and I'm not gonna produce and the guy said my solar panels are gonna guarantee a certain amount. But that didn't happen. After closing, there was nothing. I had to fight for six to eight months to get the incentives.
My sales rep stopped contacting me or doing anything. I would contact Freedom and they would just keep pushing it back. They told me, "Oh, well, we don't offer that. You're not gonna be honored that." I told them that I would love to cancel this, they should take their solar panels back and I didn't wanna deal with it. Then they said, "Well, you signed a contract so you can't do nothing about it, basically." Until finally, they were able to at least give me the incentive when I told them about the guarantee that was promised to me at closing. But Freedom should make sure that they're being honest and don't lie to people to lock them down on something that it's not gonna be honored or true.

The guy who came out was personable, transparent, respectful and answered a lot of the questions that other companies seem to dance around. He was fantastic and one of the reasons why I went with Freedom Solar. He was upfront and honest, and Freedom was one of the top three solar providers in my area when I was looking. They were reputable. The installation of the system was seamless and the foreman who looked at the plans that were supposed to go on the roof was able to make an adjustment to have all the panels fit the way that I wanted. I let them do their thing. Two of them were outside and another two had to get in the attic and run the conduit and electrical. But they were all nice guys and knew what they were doing. They did it quickly so, I have no complaints. It was all smooth.
I've been paying the same monthly since turning it on but it's gonna be easy to compare. I was gonna give it about a year or so until I started looking at that savings and we haven't done the tax credit yet. Everything seems to be working the way it should. Solar is expensive no matter who you go with. But I got a good deal. There was a little bit of a mix-up on the finance part. We just had to re-sign something because something wasn't correct but Freedom caught that before moving forward. I didn't ask for it but they compensated us a little bit more. They were great all around.

Freedom Solar works very well. I like the person that came in and initially talked to me about the product. He talked to me about other products on the market, how they compare and some of the other features on the product that were different than others. The installation was quick. They were very good about doing what they did. They answered my questions. I am pleased with the service.
The only thing is the power companies that are benefiting from me having solar energy because I'm contributing into the grid are not giving as much as they should. They were matching me one for one, but they wouldn't roll over. Now, they're giving me half of what a kilowatt hours’ worth, but they roll over. But I have to see because I've only had it for the first year. They changed the plan on me after the first year and it hasn't started yet. When they were giving me the initial plan, even though they weren't rolling over my credits, it still dramatically reduced my bill during the winter months and the summer months weren't bad. A solar energy system is nice if you have a company that's working with you.

I was paying a lot of money on electricity so I was trying to avoid that if that was possible. He told me some of the options including a certain battery, but he said not to do that because it was gonna be expensive. It was a good idea not to install the battery because the chance that I'm gonna lose power in here is very low. The installation was quick as well. But the processing time was long. There was a one-time issue with the meter. The person who installed the electric meter had some issues so when the city inspection guys came in they found some issue. Then there was a two week gap. I was also confused in between so I called the team out there, and they said that they were gonna follow up. They sent another person after my call. They fixed it.
Their customer service team understands my concern. I can call them multiple times. Whoever is coming to do the work is fantastic. I even called them after they installed. My bill was not going down. It has not gone zero. That was my expectation. But it went down 42%. However, they said there's a a payment option on the app, but when you go there, you can't do anything at all.

Xcel would say it was Freedom's problem. Our project manager would say he was gonna check up on it to see what was taking so long. Every time they were contacted, they'd say they'd be out in a couple more weeks. Either he didn't have contacts with Xcel to rectify the problem or he was too passive. I finally had to write to the Utility Commission to get any resolution. Freedom didn’t do it to get resolution so that Xcel would do what they were supposed to do, get out to my house and hook up the system. But the panels are awesome. The technology and the use of the laptop to analyze the probable production of the solar on our house stood out in the presentation. At the end of the day, the pricing was extremely similar but I was more comfortable with Freedom Solar. I got 20 panels and my annual cost is gonna be about 300 bucks based on what the bills have been since it was installed in February and most of that is the $30 a month fixed charge. We got two Tesla batteries in the garage along with the panels. So that runs the house at night.

Signing up with Freedom Solar was trouble-free and we didn’t have any issues. In my previous house, I had solar put on by somebody else and that experience wasn't as positive. So, when I was looking, I did a little more due diligence in checking out companies. I have a metal workshop that's adjacent to the house and we mounted the solar panels on that metal building and then connected it to the house power. So, I didn't have to get up on my roof, but on the roof of the metal shop. And the installers said that worked out well. I have a solar app and I can check panels. It can tell me how much in a day I'm getting and how much my house is using so it's very convenient. Year over year, we're getting about 85% of our power coming from solar so that's been good. When I started looking into different companies, I noticed that there were two main manufacturers out there that got the highest reviews. One of them is sold by Blue Raven Solar, and the panels are made in India. The other one is SunPower, which is the oldest solar company out there. Supposedly, they put the solar panels on the big ship going to the moon and when I started looking at them, I found out that they're being sold by Freedom Solar. So, I looked into Freedom Solar to see what the difference was because Freedom Solar is the seller of SunPower. SunPower makes it and Freedom Solar is the partner that does all the selling.
Freedom knows that SunPower is one of the more expensive brands that are out there because it's a higher quality panel, and it's got a better, longer warranty to it. What differentiated Freedom Solar from Blue Raven was Freedom's warranty also included the labor. Freedom Solar covers parts and labor for the whole thing. So, they cover it end to end.
My experience with the Freedom Solar Power rep was outstanding. When I was talking to them, they were asking if there were any other competitors that I was using. I was sharing some of the names and they said, "Okay." They had comparisons and the nice part was that the sales rep researched the competitors and even looked at their service agreements. So, she was very much able to differentiate their service agreement from other ones and show it. I pulled up the other ones and, sure enough, she was spot on. She was very transparent on what makes them more expensive, but also what they offer that the others don't so that I can make the best decision that's right for me.
I don't know how large the company is, but they really give you that feeling almost like a small mom-and-pop shop would. They're very caring. Even when they came to do the installation, the whole experience was sensational. They could be larger than Walmart for all I know, but they treat you like you're the most important customer and that's a really good thing. If you do a lot of looking at reviews for other companies, a lot of times, the service and having to call in is usually tougher because it's like you're getting bounced between different companies and who's taking ownership of it. Freedom has owned the whole thing from start to finish and any questions I have, even if it was about a competitor, they're more than willing to look into it and share their thoughts on it as well.
They were a great experience and very good to work with, especially when some of my situations were changing around. They had no worries about it. Durham County was taking a long time to get the permitting done. So, at the time, who they were using for the loans, defaulted, unfortunately, because there's a time span of signing up until you actually get the money. So, I had to switch how I was paying for it and they had no issues at all with that. They easily worked with me and they weren't giving me any problems.

Our electric bill here in South Texas was upwards of $450 to $500 a month during the summertime and it was just killing us. When you're spending that much on electricity because of air conditioning, you look for a better way. We wanted to go solar anyway so I looked at the positive reviews on solar companies. There are so many of them and you don't know who's fly-by-night. Freedom has some pretty good feedback. I called their guy Shane and went from there. He was knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything. I had a thousand questions and he answered all of them without making me feel like I was being a pain in the neck.
The installation was funny because we are in a unique situation. We have about three acres and we have two homes on them. We distinguish them with our local energy company as unit one and unit two. That way, we can get two separate bills for the two separate homes. There was a bit of a mix-up that took me a bit to get straightened out with Freedom because they came out, installed the solar panels on unit one, which is our main house, and then a couple of months later, they came out and hooked up the solar panels on unit two.
Once you get the hardware installed, they still have to come out and they have to have the local energy company sign off on it. Somebody messed something up somewhere. They came out and started doing unit two first instead of the main house. I talked with the actual installer people. I wasn't getting anywhere and it didn't seem to be getting cleared up. I finally called Shane and he got it squared away. Other than that small hiccup, things worked out pretty well for the most part.
I'm glad we did Freedom. We got the solar turned on right before summer and it drastically cut our bills. Our electric bill was down to about $150 a month and our payment was about 150 bucks a month. Overall, we're saving about $150, $200 a month. Coming into wintertime, I suspect that we will save even substantially more.
Part of the deal was you get a 30% tax rebate from the government but you have to apply that to your balance then your payments will stay the same. If you don't apply that to your balance on each unit, your payment will go up by about $50 a month. After 18 months, you have to apply that 30% solar rebate. This coming year, we'll be able to get that on our taxes. I just hate all that paperwork and tax stuff and having a thousand different people sign off on things. That's the only thing. It seems like it could be confusing. You end up forgetting to pay or you don't pay the right amount. Instead of depending on that 30% tax rebate, I'd rather have them take 30% off my bill. Otherwise, it's fine.

I called Freedom Solar and they came and did an assessment. Signing up with them was smooth. It just took a long time to get the permits from the city, which was very annoying. But the actual installation itself was very quick. It’s gonna be 10 months that I’ve had the system installed and I’ve had a significant reduction in my electric bill.

Freedom Solar's reps were efficient and put it in, and if I had any questions, I could contact them in time. The only thing that bothered me was it took so long to put it in. They had a lot of problems with that. They said they had some other guy that was in charge of it and he was not keeping up with it and not doing the paperwork. He was more worried about stuff that was already in instead of the new ones going in. The total install process took a year. We like being able to track what our panels are producing. We do it on our phone to see how much it's producing and how much is coming from the city itself. Since going solar, the experience has been good, especially this summer. The summer has been really hot. It's been working out good.

My energy bill was a little higher than normal, so I looked into hoping that it would improve it. The salesperson that came to my house was outstanding. John really connected with me. At that point, I was looking at three different companies, and I went with Freedom Solar because of him. The installation was flawless. I'm happy about going solar. The bill has gone down, which was high in my priority. I wish I had gotten a bank to store some of the power. I know that some of it is going back to the energy company, and they send it back when you need it, and it offsets the cost. Freedom Solar is good. I've told a few friends here and there.

Freedom Solar sent a guy to our house and he went through our usage. On an iPad, he had a plan of how many panels we needed. Also, they had where they could get your house's roof off Google Earth and that showed how the panels would be laid out on the top of the house. I wanted to make sure where the panels would be on the house and that it would fit the HOA criteria. We walked through that process, and they came up with how much the panels cost and how much it would be a month with the financing.
I was a little bit surprised at how quickly they could install them. They had them up in a day. The process where the electrician comes, hooks them up and tests them took a little bit longer because the electrician is scheduled separately from the installation. From the time they put them up until the time thee panels began producing electricity that I could use was two weeks. They have an app that you get. It's multifaceted. At the beginning, the app wasn't working too well. I was dissatisfied. It only worked every other day. But in the past several months, I've had no issues.
You go on the app and it shows you how much they're producing real time and how much you're using. There's this little cartoon that shows either electricity going into the grid or coming from the grid. If you're producing more than you use, the electricity goes into the grid and you're paid for it. If you're producing less than you're using, then you have electricity coming from the grid. The other part of the app shows each individual panel, whether it's in production or not. That's neat because you can click on a panel and it gives you the serial number of the panel and what it's producing. If you have a panel that's not producing, it'll highlight it and you can click on it. When you call Freedom, you can tell them what panel is not producing. They also monitor your panels. They claim that if a panel starts to malfunction, they'll know about it right away.
You read an ad that says, "Eliminate your energy bill," but that's not true. This month, our energy bills from the electric company is going to be $68. We've never had a zero electric bill. They will tell you to read the fine print, but they're not telling people the truth. I don't think there's any such thing as a zero energy bill. This summer, our panels produced maximum because of the sunshine in Texas. But our air conditioning was also using maximum-plus. But my solar panel payments for the panels plus my new electric bill is still less than what I would be paying without solar. I'm saving anywhere from $150 to $300 a month, depending on the month.
The only negative I have on Freedom Solar is there's a period from when you purchase the panels to where they're installed. Their department that oversees the permitting is lax. I've been in construction. I know how to go on the city website and check my permits, and there were some hold-ups on my permits that were normal engineering stuff that they needed to submit. Every time, they were unaware that my permit was being held up. We could have had our panels installed a month earlier if they had paid attention. But for buying the solar panels, they had a couple cash rebates and when it came time for my rebates to come in, they came right through.

We did a Zoom call and went through the whole thing. I asked a bunch of questions and then, they had the guy come out. It took three times longer to get it done than they said it was gonna take because they got backed up. And they didn't have a local person in Virginia. They're based out of Texas and Florida. But they were bringing someone up to Virginia. So in the end, I got all of it done by the people in Texas. But they now have a local warehouse and workers here in Virginia. When I was asking questions, the customer service reps were always upfront about why it was taking so long and when they thought it was. I probably could have worked the price a little bit lower but I'm satisfied with the product. I knew what the product was when I was getting it and I'm very pleased with it.

They knew what they were doing, and they were able to explain everything to me. It was a quick and smooth process.
If I ever have an issue, I'll call, then they would try to resolve it over the phone. If not, they would escalate me to a dispatcher and they would get a tech out. It's been quick and direct as far as anything I need from them. They've been really responsive. I had a problem with my solar panels, and they came out a week later and fixed it. Freedom Solar Power has been been great, and I would tell people, “Hey, reach out and give them a look if you're looking for solar. They’ll give you a good deal.”
The thing that I really like about Freedom Solar Power is when we were looking, they've been around for 25 years, so that means they've honored the original warranties from their first clients. They have great support too. I like the fact that their employees are in- house versus contractors. The fact that they keep in-house people means that they care more about the customer. If they throw a contractor out there, they just care about the money that they make, and if they don't do a good job, they'll just leave it still messed up.

We live in Texas and there's a lot of sun here. My husband discovered a certain type of solar panel that was specifically sold by Freedom Solar. At first, everything was great and they did very prompt communication. We really liked our salesperson and he was a very good point of contact. Our initial experience and the actual installation were all seamless. But after that, the communication dropped off entirely so that was very difficult. I had to hound multiple people for weeks to try to finish up. Are there next steps, payment, what do they need from us? There were a lot of things that we needed to finish up for them to get us finishing up online.
It was an issue with customer service. If they needed an inspection, they needed a couple of things. Freedom Solar dropped the ball. In the scheme of things, it wasn't a huge thing but it was a consideration that certainly tainted the experience a little bit. I ended up reaching back out to our salesperson once the communication had dropped off. He was amazing and wonderful. He took care of us.
That aside, we're satisfied. We have solar panels that tick the box of the environmentally conscious and we have the panels my husband wanted. My husband does the app as well as logs in whatever online account thing they have. Freedom Solar sends a PDF or something for a monthly review and my husband receives all that information. We have recommended Freedom Solar to others saying that it is the Cadillac of solar panels. You pay the price for it but you also get amazing customer service at first.

But the actual installation was two days. My sister put the solar panels with another company. The other company went to her house and they explained to her how to download an app. I use the Freedom app and everything too. But nobody came over here and showed me how to use the app and how that works. I don't know how that works.

The company that Freedom Solar used to finance my solar panels started calling and it took about six months after that. In the process, the finance company hit our credit ratings. Our credit was really good and now, it's taken a pretty good hit based on the fact that four or five months of payments we were lacking.
I was ready to tell FreedomSolar to remove the system because I'm still paying my regular electric bill and having to pay for something that is not usable was crazy. But we finally got ahold of somebody who's willing to try to help. I paid it and they reimbursed me for a partial of the amount of money I sent in. Also, they told me they would look into making a slight adjustment to my electric payments for those several months. But I don't want that. I just want them to get my record cleaned. We haven't got it resolved yet. We're still working with Freedom Solar and I'm hopeful that we'll get this done. I liked the actual solar panels that Freedom Solar Power was offering. They were the best in terms of technology for residential use. Setting up everything was easy. The biggest time it took was for my HOA to approve the architectural request for the solar panel. Once that was done, it was quick from Freedom Solar when it came to the installation and activation. We've been using the solar panels for a year. The solar itself and how it's producing and satisfying our electricity needs has been okay. During these months of summer, the solar isn't really sufficient enough to meet our energy needs. So, we pay the solar and also pay electricity bill.
Freedom Solar could have done a better job in being upfront and advertised it in bold letters that they're gonna be using a third-party financing company, which by the way, did not allow a subordination of the loan and which resulted in us being unable to get a HELOC on our existing property, which is a private residence where the solar is installed. That prevented us from buying an investment property which we were planning on buying up in Colorado. We already had an investment property. We were just adding another one to our profile, and we were really counting on the HELOC from a primary residence for that investment.
Then when we went through the process of doing that, we got hit by the brick wall where, this company who was the lender for that $51,000 price tag on that solar refused to provide us a subordination. We couldn't go ahead with that. So, Freedom Solar could have really made it clear and advertised it right from the get-go, because a lot of the homeowners probably are not aware of that. Even with extensive research, we kind of missed that. It's not that if they would have told us, we would have not gone ahead with solar. We would have still gone ahead with solar. But then when it came to our investment opportunity, we would have factored that in and found an alternative solution. It was too late for us to find alternatives.

They cleaned up after themselves. I had no reason to call them back out here for any extra problems. Freedom Solar has an app that tells you how much you're producing and it’s extremely easy to use. You just click on it, log in, and there's your information.
I love going solar. My electricity bill has come way down. Granted I have not had it during the winter months yet but I've had it for a Texas summer that we're going through this heat wave in. So, I'm getting plenty of sunshine. I didn't get it to become a power plant. I just wanted to be able to run my air conditioner at a decent temperature and it worked out perfectly for this. We have to make some adjustments. Everything that we used to do in the evening that required electricity, we now force ourselves to do during the day when it's free. Everything's better that way.

The salesman's name is Philip. He was very good and he answered very well. The signup process was easy but it took a long time, almost four months. But the installation was very good. But after one month, some panels were not working very well. I emailed them two times. But I didn't receive any results. When I double-checked in my app, I see that it is working fine, but I don't receive any results. I need a technician to double check if it’s working very well all time, or if it needs replacement.

A young lady from Freedom Solar Power came out. She was personable. There was no pressure. She was very clear on the government rebate which was the biggest reason why we did it. The process went the way she said it. We ended up with 22 panels. They had an engineer come out. He did a site survey on our power usage based off our Xcel Energy power consumption.
We had some hiccups with scheduling and an issue after the installation, getting things configured in their back office system. I had to track them down for a couple of months to verify how much power the solar panels were generating. They also didn't put the credit card in, and I had to track them down for that. I had to keep sending emails. They weren't major things, but they were annoyance where I had to keep calling. They also had some turnover issues. The project manager left then we got moved to somebody else. Things like that caused some minor irritation to the point where I had to get assertive in my language with them. Then within a week, the problem was fixed.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with going solar. Freedom has a nice app that tells you how much your panels are generating, how much you're consuming, and how much is going back to the grid. I don't know how accurate it is, but it's consistent. I've been tracking since April and the numbers seem to be holding true. I can track real-time when we're washing and drying and the dishwasher's on. It's cool.

The sales person was incredible with her follow-up, and her information and persistence. She walked me through the whole process. She did an evaluation and came up with the plan. Then we talked about the numbers, and she coached me on what the tax savings would be. We also talked about how the installation would go, and how it would take some time for the company to get in touch with the HOA and the city of Mckinney and also CoServ. So everything went step by step. Everything's working good after the installation.

The sales rep at Freedom Solar was very informative, answered all of our questions and went through the process. It was a very pleasant experience. Before we put the solar up, I was averaging, so I had to get that paid off. Once that was done, we've been having credit on our electric bill. On the app, you can see where it's either discharging or income. It's got a little diagram, this little animation.

The signing-up process at Freedom Solar was okay. I had to sit there and listen to the spiel, and get the best estimates for what it would be. They did drawings of the placement. The installers came out and they put it up on the roof. It took a while before they got all the permits from the local electric company to turn it on. Then they turned it on and we've been using it ever since.

Everyone was wonderful. They explained everything, answered all of my questions, were friendly, and patient with my decision. When I needed to decide or look things over, they gave me time to truly think it over and I didn't feel pressured. Freedom Solar is a good investment, and with the type of the house I have and the way the sun hits it, the amount of panels I have is perfect. It's keeping my house cooler, and I don't have to pay my electric bill. The app helps keep track of everything too.

The sales rep was fabulous. He was very knowledgeable, helpful, and extremely good. He was a big part of why we chose to go with Freedom. We have 31 panels and the installation was great. It took us a while to get the panels, but once they came and got installed, that was wonderful. However, we were told and understood that it would bring our cost to zero, but I paid $45 recently. It's a tiny fee, but we need to get to the bottom of that and we have not had a chance to get with our Freedom people.
We had a flood in our house in December, so we have not lived in our house since then. In fact, we're still in a hotel, so we're not on top of things like we will be when we're back in the house all the time. We go to the house all the time and we have the app where we can see what it is producing. So far, I'm very satisfied and I strongly recommend Freedom Solar to people. We contacted friends and relatives, and my nephew took us up on it. In fact, his system got installed long before ours did, and he's happy with it.

The rep I placed the order with was great and the install team was good. But the management team had switched and I got lost in the shuffle. So, my solar took a lot longer to get turned on. I ordered the system in July and didn't get it turned on until February. Other than that, I've been very satisfied going solar. But if you don't go with the battery pack, it's a waste. I did that and it gives me some time if the power goes out where I don't lose my groceries. There's been a big reduction in my electric bill. If you're looking to save some money and have a battery backup for your house, then going solar is worth it.

In Texas, we get plenty of sun so there's no reason not to take advantage of it. I had a few different calls with different solar providers and Freedom Solar was the most straightforward. Their costs were the best and they really catered the solution to what we wanted versus trying to oversell us a solution. They were good about that. As a result, our price was much better with them. The sign-up part was easy and straightforward. The hard part was the installation part. That took longer than expected. They were still running into some of those supply chain issues last year, which a lot of people were.
Freedom was good with us. We had an issue with the financing part of it and they worked with us to find a solution for that. The crew came out, they did the install in one day, and it wasn't super disruptive. Their cleanup was pretty good. There were a couple of things they left behind but nothing crazy. They took us out there and explained everything to us. They showed us where everything was connected. They did good. The permit process was all managed by Freedom. In total, that took around seven months. Customer service has been good as well. We get a monthly bill. My wife had some calls with them early on just so we could understand how the app works. It tracks all the energy coming in versus going out. They were always quick to explain things to us. We haven't had to wait for long periods of time for things.
We started talking to Freedom either June or July last year and then the system got installed in January. Unfortunately, we're in one of those areas where they do some buyback but they won't take our bill down to zero. We still have a connection fee that we have to pay every month no matter what. We still have an electric bill. But for the last two months, we haven't paid for any electricity. We just paid that connection fee every month.
I'm pleased on the whole. If anyone were to ask me, I would definitely recommend Freedom Solar. We'll probably buy more products from them in the future. We had talked about doing like a battery as well, but the timing and the financing just wasn't right. At some point, we will probably have a battery installed and we'll probably use Freedom Solar for that.

When they did the evaluation, they had a UAV, which is really nice, and took pictures of the house and stuff. We started looking at what we could do. The installation was very efficiently done and we got a nice team here. They had one guy who was perfectly comfortable going into the attic space and they got everything done in an efficient manner. They were an efficient crew and they knew what they were doing and did it well. One of the concerns that most people have if they have a shingled roof is leaking and I've had no leaks and no loose parts or anything like that. Everything's worked out very well.
I'm still paying a little bit out of my pocket. On my side, the error was not getting a battery backup. But I would have had to get a smaller system in order to afford the battery backup. For my house, the majority of the panels are on the south side and there are only six panels on the west. If I had a battery backup, it would supplement those six panels and with the tube between the battery backup and the six panels, I could run well into the night without having to pull from the grid. I wish there was an easier way to get the backup added after the fact but right now, it's still very expensive to get it.
The bill has decreased, but when I add it to what my monthly payment is, I'm not really saving a whole lot. If I had to do it over again, I would have pushed harder on how many cells I can get with a battery backup. Also, the sales presentation should emphasize battery backup more than they presently do. They leave it up to the customer, but they should really talk about the importance and explain that out in detail.

The sales call was over Zoom so it wasn't in person, which probably made it less sales-type. The sales rep was knowledgeable and professional. The installation of the panels was quick and easy and since then, my electricity bill has gone down. Freedom Solar has a cool mobile app that I use to keep track of what I’m producing. One of the biggest selling points is the tax incentive you get with your tax return. And by applying it back to your loan, you keep your payment as low as it is now as opposed to going up. But Freedom Solar shouldn't sell on that tactic because they're not knowledgeable enough in regards to taxes that it's almost false advertising. Because if you don't qualify for all of that because of other tax benefits that you get, it's deceiving. So, I can expect my bill to go up in 18 months and I don't have anything I can do about it unless I come out with $8,000 out of my pocket. But that's something that needs to change industrywide.

I was told my bill when I wanted to cancel the installation that my bill would only be around a hundred dollars. I haven't had a bill under 350 yet. I wish I would have never contacted y'all. Text messages attached. I want them taken off because my bill would be less if I didn’t have them.

The salesman was fairly clear on the signup process. But he oversold how much the savings would be on solar. There are different electrical suppliers in the state and he quoted us not taking that into account. He made an assumption about who our supplier would be and we gave him all the information ahead of time but he didn't really follow up on that. Other than that, my experience has been generally okay. There's an app that they provide and it shows the current status and the historical uses of both total electrical power and the solar power. I wish that we had sized the system just a little bit larger to handle demand and it's too expensive to go back and add it once we got it installed.

One of the problems that I encountered was that the sales rep was brand-new. I'm not as pleased as most people would be. I wouldn't recommend Freedom Solar. I've been very displeased with everything. They did the review of the house and they tell us how many panels we needed. Then we did the payout for over the years and how much it's gonna be and then what the tax credits would be. If you take that tax credit that you're getting back and apply it towards it, then you get this payment. If not, it goes up. The estimate that they gave me for that was way skewed off. It was less than 50% of what we got back. They said, "Well, we said it was 30%." But I was going by their proposal and this was what you were saying. So our payment is gonna go up in 17 more months.
We're paying our payment of $110 a month for solar. But we were still paying up to $250 a month for our electricity. So we were paying more than we paid for 1,400 square feet bigger than this house in the city. Somebody else came out to review one day and said, "Oh, do you have solar? Do you like it?" I said, "No, we hate it." They said, "You don't have enough solar panels." So I called Freedom Solar and they said, "Well, who did you go with?" I told them who we went with and they said, "Well, that's part of the problem." I said, "You told me who to go with." They said, "Oh, wait, wait, wait. Yeah, they're really good. They're really good."
Unfortunately, the poor lady who sold us everything had been in an accident. Nobody would communicate with me. Finally, she did communicate with me. Now, it's gone down. Right now, we're paying about $40 to $60 a month on our utilities. But we didn't have a winter where there was no sun. We had a very mild winter where the sun was out, and we are direct sunlight on our panels.
