I had Solar panel installed and it's financed through Dividend Finance. This is worst company that I have worked so far. Lumio guy mis-guided me by attaching this company. Like any other finance company, we need to pay Principal and interest. But this bank, even you keep paying your monthly installments the loan amount will not go down.. I was surprised and shocked to see they charge interest by each day... I called customer care to check why my amount doesn't go down even I pay on time, ate agent said it's due to interest each day that I am compounding. So immediately I planned and closed this loan as it's becoming a burden each month. It will stick to your neck whole life if you don't get rid of the loan with them.

I only gave them one star because zero was not an option. Customer service is a joke, worst I have ever dealt with. I financed solar panels with this company in 2023. I put my home on the market in March 2024, it went under contract in early April 2024. On April 22, 2024, a lien was put on my home by this company without any notice to me, this is a shady business practice. So now, we are 2 days away from closing on this house and I cannot even get a person on the phone who can help me get the transfer process started so we can close on schedule.
I am taking the solar panels with me, but they have to "approve" it, which they say will take up to 5 business days to process, but first I need to send an email and wait for someone to send me the form I need to fill out, which could take 48 hours alone to get the form. This company has no sense of ethical business practices or customer service, from my experience. Never missed or been late on a payment, but it doesn't matter because they don't care about their customers.

We were lied to by Vision Solar from beginning, I called Dividend finance in the very beginning with my concerns and they Lied and told me everything was above board. Now here we are a year later and our panels still non-working and finding out the work that was done, was done illegally and without a permit or inspection from city. Even worse, Dividend released monies to Vision Solar for not only Incomplete work but illegal work done on our house. They approved everything. Now Vision solar are out of business and Dividend are trying to keep customers locked into these huge loans. A loan that I wasn't even aware of when the guy was in our home trying to sell us the panels. He told us this was being done through Florida, because the state of Florida wants people to go green. Lies.
Now Dividend is calling me trying to get me to agree to a "3rd party solar company with great reviews" to fix Vision Solars mess. When I asked Catherine from Dividend the name of this "third party company, with great reviews" she couldn't tell me. Then she backtracked saying well actually we haven't found one yet, but I would need to agree first. How about no. The only thing I want at this stage is those NON WORKING panels off my roof and to never do business with Dividend ever again.

My husband and I have been trying to sell our property and we have already lost a deal with potential homebuyers and are now potentially losing a second deal!!! How is it possible that the homebuyers can qualify for a mortgage, but not a $35K solar loan?! Every time we are given the most ridiculous excuses about why they were denied. What a nightmare!!!! If we would have known Dividend would be so terrible, we never would have even gotten the solar panels to begin with!

We went through all the right paperwork from Dividend to transfer the loan while selling our house. It has been 90 days and both the parties seller and buyer has all paperwork done and submitted but dividend never transferred the loan. The loan transfer department I believe his name is John, never calls back. The phone representative never have a clue about the case. Horrible company. Because of this horrible experience I will never buy solar again and will warn everyone about it.

Dividend Financial is a poor business partner. While trying to get the loan paid off through the sale of my house they assessed late fees because they never responded to the email sent 19 days ago. There is only one email address listed through the customer portal and apparently they don't check that email very often. When I called their customer support person he stated it should have been sent to a completely different email: billing@dividendfinance.com. This has caused a delay that can be very costly both to my personal account as well as delays in completing the escrow. They need to be more responsive and provide information on the website like how to stop and auto payment as well as where to send escrow inquiries. Aside from these issues with closing the company seemed satisfactory.

I am having the same experience as so many others. We were completely lied to by the salesman/company that sold our system. In fact, the salesman is in prison now, and the company has reorganized to avoid all the faulty installs. We were sold the system on the incredible tax advantage, which when combined with solar production made it possible to “net out”, and reduce the payment to the average monthly I pay for electricity. Then in 9 years because of the tax advantages, I could have the system paid off. We were made so many promises and none of them were true. We were sold Solar Edge inverters that have a terrible track record, and the installers have been unable to find why half my system does not produce any power.
If I had the money and know how, I would start a class action, which would include Dividend, Solstice Energy, the Utah Solar Company. We are being tied to these awful contracts that are being sold by snakes that sell, sell, sell, and disappear with their riches. I copied this from another user: This is my exact experience. "I was paying $89 a month for my electricity.. Now I have a 20 year loan and paying $245 for 20 years plus electricity $35 more.. I was lied to by the company that first sold me the panels and DIVIDEND are completely aware that this company are lying and locking you into this loans. The company that sold me my panels are out of business and I'm stuck with a loan for 19 more years.."

The potential of going green, even at no savings was too good to be true. My system is way too small to take away nearly any of my energy bill, and the price I paid I’ll never recoup. On top of that, Married with 3 kids, my tax liability was not enough to get The money I was supposed to put towards my loan, no keeping the original monthly price of $100 more a month. I’m 2 years into having this loan and till yet to recoup the “rebate” that is really just a tax liability break. I pay as much for my electric bill with more than my electric bill every month paying off a solar system that does me no good. Worst purchase I’ve ever made, and an extremely costly one.

We are in the process of purchasing a home that has a solar electrical system financed by Dividend. Just attempting to inquire about assuming the loan I discovered 1. long hold times. 2. representatives who are short, snippy, and just don't seem to care. 3. incorrect information regarding system warranties, etc. To me, this all says Dividend is one of those "zig hile" companies where cash is king and everything else (including customers) can take a hike. I believe we will just pay off the solar system and steer clear of Dividend. P.S.: Dividend, if you dislike being informed on, get your issues squared up!

I am writing this as buyer beware. This company ripped me off. I got a loan through them not too bad of an interest rate however there was a clause that I have to pay them $265.10 for 13 months. I called them very soon after signing the contracts. In actuality I never signed myself. The solar company just pushed the application through on their laptop at my kitchen table. Either way I did agree but when I call Dividend Finance to see if I could pay the lump sum payment their representative told me on the phone directly that I have no choice but to wait the 13 months to pay the lump sum payment. I did have the money in the bank at the time and still do.
I knew the lump sum payment was coming up so I called to get my logon information for their payment portal. At that time the representative stated, "Oh no you could have made the payment any time and it would have activated the account so that the payments of $265.10 would have done towards your loan instead of pure interest." Now I know some people need to have that period to pay I did not there purely ripped me off. Now I am not saying they are in practice of doing that with everyone but they did it to me. Who knows if they won’t do it or something else to you. I have paid them as soon as I found this out. They supposedly did an internal investigation to say that all my phone calls to them have disappeared so they have no proof I ever called them in the first place me. I will continue to tell everyone about the business practices of this company because they are wrong.

I found that getting financing from Dividend was quick and easy. My advice to anyone looking to finance solar would be to avoid this company. I sold my home in June 2019, all fees were paid, including the investment incentive and assumption fee. Dividend continues to send me an invoice requesting payment although there is nothing owed and the new owners are now making the payments on the solar. I have sent communications (both phone and email) on multiple occasions and do not get a response.
I am receiving late payment notices for a payment that is not due. Dividend’s website claims to make things easy and that they offer “first class customer service”. This is simply not true. There is no customer service and dealing with them has been nothing but a massive frustration since June. Save yourself the hassle and work with a company that takes pride in taking care of their customers from the beginning to the end of the process. Dividend Finance is not a company to do business with.

WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND!! We got solar a few months ago not expecting to sell our house. We have not been able to sell our home because Dividend Finance (who Nerd Power uses) has declined two of our buyers wanting to take the solar over (buyer has a 778 credit score). Whoever installed the solar also broke numerous tiles on our roof which we never would have caught if it wasn’t for an inspection. They did come fix that but talk about integrity. Would never get them again and if you’re planning on selling a home in the near future DO NOT DO IT. Now we’re unable to build our home since they have denied every buyer that is preapproved for a 300k home.
Megan, Thank you for your taking the time to provide us feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience and understand how this situation could be frustrating. Loan assumptions can be tricky, as we require the same criteria to underwrite new customers as we did for you initially. Solar Energy is a joke and I learned it the hard way. Especially if you finance, these solar financing companies are nothing short of predatory lender, such as Dividend Solar. Provisions such as:
2. You may not remove the panels, even if you sell your house.
3. You can't sell the panels to cut your losses.
4. If you lost your job / home value dropped -- too bad, you must come up with cash to pay the solar company / lender or you can't close your home (because they won't work with you. They put a lien on your home EVEN EVEN THOUGH the panels aren't a part of your home).
5. YOU MAY LOSE YOUR HOME if you run into financial difficulty.
These people will make you believe your home value will go up, but what they don't tell you is that statistics show little value added to your home. In fact, only a handful of states / cities have pro-solar policies and the rest of them, in fact, makes it difficult for you to sell a solar-roofed home. You bought your dream house and firmly believes that you'll live there "forever", but soon you realize the company you work for isn't doing well and there will be cuts. What am I getting at? THE FACT THAT there's no such thing as "staying here forever". YOU ARE AT THE MERCY OF YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES.
Like you, I was an adamant believer of a sustainable world, but having gone through my own solar ordeal, I now firmly believe these people do not share the same passion. They care nothing about the world or its sustainability -- all they care is to get your money. So if you have some extra $40K cash to burn for the betterment of the world, definitely, by all means do it, but if aside from being "green", you want a little bit of financial benefit, DON'T DO IT. Despite what they lead you to believe, you aren't going to get even a shred of financial benefit!
Hi Ryan, First off, we would like to say that we are sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately, you cannot transfer your solar panels from one home to another for a number of reasons which we have previously discussed. This is why we offer our customers the opportunity to transfer their loan to the new buyer if they prefer not to pay the loan off in full before closing on the house. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call at (844) 805-7100 if you have any further questions. Thank you.

CONSUMER FRAUD!? If there is a worst company to do business with, it's probably in HELL. I have a Solar System financed thru Dividend Finance. I pay $63 per month, auto pay, for the first 16 months, the monthly payment will go up to $103 for the rest of the 20 year loan. My average Electric bill last year was $62 monthly. The salesman promise.."No More Electrical bills and Money in your pocket, rebates and credits to offset the $15000 Loan." GREAT DEAL, now I have 2 bills and a 20 Years Loan.
The Dividend Finance Loan and Installation Contract was signed on November 1 2018. The contract calls for the installation of 11 Trina Solar Panels, 11 Enphase Energy Inverter. The System was installed December 19-20. On December 21 received a new contract, unilaterally the installation now calls for 11 Japan Solar Panels, 1 SMA America Inverter. Quite a DIFFERENT SYSTEM!! On reflection, however, I decided I was not agreeable to the change of equipment. I therefore signed and submitted a Notice of Cancellation to United Solar on December 26, 2018, in accordance with my three-business-day right to cancel. Dividend also send a “Certificate of Completion” to be signed. The work is considered complete when the panels are on the roof, NOT a working System. I have been paying for a NON WORKING Solar System. Thanks DIVIDEND. I am paying for a NON WORKING Solar System. Thanks DIVIDEND, Thanks United Solar.

I don’t know where to start! I had a contractor that I met, they told me that it would take a couple of weeks to get started cause of permitting, a month goes by and I’m in contact with them and they said they were going to pick up the permit. Some more time passes and nothing happened. More phone call and I find out that another contractor is taking over? Do I have any rights to whom is working on my house? No change of contractor documents, no signatures, is this legal in Florida? I met the next contractor and started receiving phone calls to sign the job off so they can get paid? Wait a minute! I was a contractor in NYC. It didn’t go this way up there! I told them get the job started and completed and I will sign away! I even had a kid that could have been my son on the phone telling me the way things work. Too funny!! Had to set him straight!!
The first green electrician showed up. I had to help him figure some stuff out, and even lend him tools cause he just started in the field of being an electrician. The owner of the contracting company was another kid that his parents gave him some money to start a business, he had another electrician qualifying the company, the owner is not even an electrician! They installed the panels and the electrical, never got an inspection on the clips for the panels, I asked them don’t you think the structural inspector is going to want to see it? They commented that it will be okay, they know the inspector. The inspector showed up and she tore them a new one and failed it! She said that she is not going to take their word on where they connected the clips for the panels because it has to be secured to the rafters on the roof, they then had to get a letter from a structural engineer to pass that.
The phone calls started the come in again for signatures on DocuSign so they can get paid, I found out that the electrical had failed inspection!!! Not once but 2 times!! Then the panels were completed in September which was to be completed in the past April. I had to pay for a million dollar umbrella policy before FP&L would come and a fee to bribe FP&L to come! Furthermore Igor don’t get a tax rebate. Only a tax write off of only $2000. Per year if you owe taxes at the end of the year. Also the government has to approve the program again for the next years to come or that will be over.
I have all the problems written above like the poor others that got taken by this group of thieves! I have tried to call Dividend but they always have the message that they are experiencing higher than normal calls to call back at another time, that means everyone they screwed is trying to call. I left messages to call me back like the recording said but they don’t call! I also never received my pool pump to help save on electricity that they promised! I wonder what will happen if my panels need to be serviced? Am I on my own? Do yourself a favor and stay away from Dividend and Home Solar! They both stink!!! Mildly putting it!!!
