What is Complete Solar?

Complete Solar specializes in helping homeowners finance and install solar energy systems. Founded in 2010 by brothers Will and Dave Anderson, it is now headquartered in San Ramon, California. Complete Solar functions as a broker between various smaller solar panel businesses and their customers.

It claims to streamline the installation process by partnering with reputable sellers, installers and manufacturers to secure competitive pricing and pass the savings onto its customers. It offers a range of financing options, including cash purchases, leases and loans.

Complete Solar panels and equipment

Complete Solar primarily partners with reputable manufacturers to provide high-efficiency solar panels and battery storage options. However, its website does not include many details regarding what brands or companies it works with.

Information gathered from the European Warranty Claims page suggests it works with Solaria brand panels (PowerX and PowerXT Modules).

Installation

Here’s a brief overview of the installation process with Complete Solar:

  1. Check your home’s eligibility: Start by filling out a form to request a call for a free consultation with a solar expert. By providing your address and a photo of the utility bill, you can receive an estimate of potential savings.
  2. Consult a solar expert: When it’s time for your consultation, the solar expert will call you. They will answer questions and guide you through the design process for your solar system while estimating potential savings.
  3. Schedule a site survey: A surveyor will visit your home to evaluate the roof's condition, identify the best locations for solar panels, assess energy needs and check your home’s electrical setup.
  4. Finalize the design: After the site survey, engineers will finalize the architectural plans for the solar system. You’ll receive the layout and electrical requirements for approval before the project is submitted for local permitting.
  5. Permit submission: Complete Solar states that it handles all necessary paperwork for local building permits and utility company approvals, including any incentive applications. It says this process usually takes a few weeks while equipment is ordered.
  6. Installation day: Once all permits are approved, the installation team will arrive to set up the solar panels. Installation typically takes one to two days, depending on the system's size.
  7. Final inspection: After installation, a city inspector will verify that the system meets safety and electrical codes. Installers will be on-site to address any necessary corrections during this inspection.
  8. System activation: After passing inspection, Complete Solar will assist in obtaining permission to operate (PTO) from the utility company. Once approval is received, you can turn on your solar system and begin using it.

Complete Solar services

Complete Solar does not appear to provide additional services outside of solar panel installation and financing. It focuses primarily on facilitating the installation process for solar energy systems and does not mention offering maintenance or repair services for existing solar installations.

Complete Solar costs

Complete Solar does not specify its pricing structure for solar panels and installation on its website. Typically, the cost of solar panels can vary widely based on factors like system size, type of equipment and local installation costs.

On average, homeowners in the U.S. can expect to pay between $18,000 to $43,000 for a complete solar energy system before tax credits and incentives. Many factors influence these costs, including the efficiency of the solar panels, the complexity of the installation and additional equipment such as inverters and batteries.

Complete Solar offers various financing options, such as cash purchases, leases and loans, which can impact overall expenses and savings over time.

Complete Solar Financing

Complete Solar claims to offer several financing options for homeowners looking to install solar energy systems. These options include cash purchases, leases and loans. According to Complete Solar, here are the financing options and their details:

While the specific details regarding whether financing is handled in-house or through third-party companies were not provided, Complete Solar does mention that financing terms typically range from five to 25 years. Longer terms may result in lower monthly payments, but this could impact long-term savings due to the interest rate locked in during financing.

Complete Solar warranty

Complete Solar provides a comprehensive range of warranties for its solar energy systems, primarily featuring panels from Solaria, as no other manufacturers were referenced on its website. The key details of these warranties include:

  • Craftsmanship warranty: Complete Solar offers a 10-year craftsmanship warranty covering the installation of solar systems to ensure the installation meets high standards and the system operates as intended.
  • Equipment warranty: Solar panels from Solaria are covered by a limited product warranty ranging from 25 to 30 years, focusing on defects in materials and workmanship. Inverters typically come with manufacturer warranties that last between five and 15 years.
  • Production guarantee: Complete Solar guarantees the production estimates provided at the time of installation. If the system fails to generate the promised amount of electricity, it claims it will reimburse customers for the difference.
  • Warranty handling: Should any issues arise during the warranty period, Complete Solar is committed to restoring full energy production promptly. Its production guarantee also ensures reimbursement for any lost production during this time.
  • Exclusions: The warranty does not cover damages resulting from external factors such as severe weather events (like hail or wind damage), accidents or improper maintenance. Normal wear and tear on equipment is typically not included.
  • Warranty voiding conditions: The warranty may be voided if unauthorized modifications or repairs are made to the solar system. Customers are advised to adhere to maintenance guidelines and utilize authorized personnel for any service needs.

    Customer Service

    Reviewed April 23, 2024

This company should be put out of business. Since July 31, 2023, my solar power system has been off. Excuse after excuse at first and now this company never responded to us via phone or email. We call and we're on forever hold. Unacceptable. I am now paying out of my own pocket to have another company fix my system.
