DO NOT DO business with SunPower. They installed a Solar System on my property on October 2024 and now I have a roof leak under the solar panels, my contract says and I quote "12-year warranty protection for roof damage incurred at installation" is all false, they went out of business and the company that took them over will not honor anything Prior to 2025. These companies change names like I change my shirt and the consumer is left with nothing to protect him. SunStrong took over my lease but they don't even answer my telephone calls, but they sure take my money every month, they are located in Texas. Do your research before you hire anyone other than the company that COSTCO stands behind, most of them will go out of business and open with a different name or are taken over by another company that will not honor your warranty and leave you hanging, like me.

Purchased my system in April 2023 via a SunPower Lease, install was completed 1 year later. In August 2024 SunPower filed BK (let’s be real - this was corporate restructuring). 5 days later I was victim of a fire that damaged my leased solar system. I had contact with SunPower for about a month and was awaiting the final decision of their insurance to make me whole again per their obligation outlined in the lease. This has been a complete nightmare.

Most recent stance per our contact (Brett) was, they would incur a loss to repair - and they won’t do that, they won’t release me from my lease, and per the rep “off the record” I would get an attorney. Horrible mismanagement. New investors (SunStrong Management) purchased my lease and continue to attempt to collect payment on a non performing system that they are responsible for and thus far refusing to repair. Nightmare and no one there cares, constant run around from company reps and every time you speak with someone new it starts all over again.

Sunpower is an absolute fraud. They installed panels to our home and batteries in 2024. The batteries stopped working several months ago and Sunpower refuses to fix the problem. We paid $30,000 for two mounted batteries that do not work. We have issued work tickets to which Sunpower chooses to discard. They suggested names of independent companies that would fix the broken equipment we purchased from Sunpower in good faith. Those companies that Sunpower is referring to us are claiming they do not do work on Sunpower batteries. Do not purchase your equipment from Sunpower!!! They are complete frauds!! We are unable to sue because they are under bankruptcy protection!!!

It was never repaired and has not produced any solar power or savings for us. We were led down the garden path with many promises of our bill being reimbursed, pausing our payments until it was repaired, but Sunpower simply continued to take our money month after month for a defective product. Since the bankruptcy, their service is the worst. No response to calls (if they go through). Lately all I get is a busy signal. I tried emailing them to the email address they provided on their website. The email would not go through and after 4 attempts my email software said it was undeliverable. Now they are pushing new products. I would NEVER consider buying anything from them.

The device that allows my system to communicate to the Sunpower website has been broken for 4 years and they provide no assistance. My last SCE bill show I made 2 kwh in a whole month. Apparently something is wrong and I can get no help. They say if you use another company to repair, it will void your warranty. (what warranty, they're bankrupt). They subcontracted to Renova who never responded to 5 calls I place with them for assistance since Renova is only interested in servicing the customers that they sold to and not legacy customers of Sunpower. If I were you, I would look elsewhere and not give Sunpower a second thought.

I only selected a single star because zero stars was not an option. So I took over a prepaid solar lease through Sunpower when I bought my house. I had high hopes going in, but when I moved in I discovered my inverters were broken. I didn’t think too much of it 'cause I have a prepaid lease so Sunpower should fix them. I contacted them to get somebody to fix them, but I am still waiting for the fix (over 10 months). Had some hope because the contractor reached out and said they had the parts available, but when I contacted sunpower to pay for the installation they said submit a new online request for repairs, and now I’m waiting again. They have only one customer help line whose only answers are submit an online help request and I don’t know how long it will take, because I’m not a servicing person and there’s a lot of requests.

I have three separate electronic requests pending, all of which have been pending over two weeks. They are also delaying the refinance on my house which is costing me hundreds of dollars. Their processes are so slow and inefficient you will wonder if there actually are people responding to these requests. I have had only heartaches and rage since signing up to be a Sunpower customer. The company resources pale in comparison to the number of customers they have, and I would legitimately feel sorry for any sucker looking to sign a new contract with the company. If I had a Time Machine I would never have gone into a lease with them. In all seriousness I would highly discourage any person from getting involved with Sunpower in anyway.

Where to start? The worst company ever! I researched 6 solar companies and went with SunPower because they were around the longest with what I thought was a proven track record. They told me from start to installation and start producing my own electricity would be 2-3 months. It took them 11 months to get me going. They use every excuse in the book why it's someone else's fault.

I must have called around 100 times and was told EVERY TIME that the case manager or supervisor was in a meeting and would call back. They NEVER EVER call. I needed to call back and always received a forward message at why the issues aren't resolved. In the year after it finally was installed the system went down about 6 times. Then they need to (waste time) and troubleshoot. This added days each time and then the tech that was supposed to come in a week, would come in 3-4 weeks. Obviously never fixing the issue because two weeks later it was the same issue. Then with a work order for a technician to come out, the company files bankruptcy and I'm told they will not be resolving the same issue that's been going on since day 1.

I called SUNPOWER on 3/6/24 because I noticed my solar wasn't showing any production on the mySunPower phone application. They ran some tests on their end and said we would have to send a technician out and that they would call me and schedule it. I have called Sun Power numerous times over the last 5.5 years and they have never ONCE actually done what they said they are going to do without me calling several more times. So, I waited two days and called back on 3/8/24 to find that they still haven't done anything and they blamed Air Sun (their partner company). I called again twice on 3/26/24 and then again on 3/27/24.

Everytime I call, I have to sit and wait for a very long time. It is 3/29/24 @ 11:16am and I have been on the phone with them for 18 minutes already - on hold the whole time. I already called Air Sun before this call and they told me that they are still waiting on Sun Power to approve the compensation for the work order to come out to my house and fix the solar inverter. Air Sun took less than two minutes to ascertain what I needed and what the hold up was; the hold up is completely on the Sun Power side. Right now I have talked to the woman from Sun Power three times and she cannot seem to solve this SIMPLE issue (41 minutes in and I am back on hold again).

On 3/27/24 I called our power company, Southern California Edison, and they confirmed with me that our solar stopped working on 11/30/24. Today is 3/29/24 and it is still not working. That is four full months, 1/3 of a whole year, that we have been paying a lease @ $118.47/month and we have received no service from Sun Power. I already talked with Air Sun today and they said they cannot come out today even if they get the compensation approval from Sun Power. So, today is Good Friday and so they won't be out until at least the 1st/2nd week of April putting us at well over 4 months by the time this gets resolved. I am expected a refund of 5 months lease for services not rendered.

So, I wrote this on Good Friday and I figured they won't be out until at least the 1st/2nd week of April putting us at well over 4 months by the time this gets resolved. It ended up being 5 months and 3 or 4 days without service. The whole time I have been paying my lease with NO SERVICE. I am expected a refund of 5 months+ lease for services not rendered.

Fast forward into mid June of 2024, I had been working with the Better Business Bureau to help try to resolve this fiasco. They really helped and got the ball rolling. They connected me with a man named John ** at Sun Power and he calculated 5 months and a few days of service was worth $636 and some change. He checked with me on that figure, and I agreed it was correct. He said I would be issued a check within approximately two weeks. The end of June came and went and no such check arrived. I called and left message after message for John and no returned call came (408) 703-9926 is still the working number but I have since called it 40 times to no avail. I have called Sun Power approximately 90 times now on this issue. I have REPEATEDLY asked to speak to a manager/supervisor and as of today 11/13/24 I still haven’t received a call nor been transferred to speak to one.

All I hear from Sun Power is that I have to go to a website: ** to address the issue. The website has no ability to do so. November is when my Settlement Bill is due. In November of 2023, my bill was $271.34 and in November of 2024, my bill was $1035.62, up $764.28. Not having solar for 5+ months really set our finance back and Sun Power has done NOTHING to make it right.

Money talks. I have an 840 credit rating because I pay my bills and am extremely diligent about staying on top of things. I have decided that the only way to get Sun Power to call me is to stop paying my lease for 5 months (I am on month 4). They have started calling me now, but still no one has called to resolve this issue. They are calling for money, much the same as I have been since June.

Tomorrow I am calling the Attorney General's Office and the California Public Utilities Commission regarding the lack of service I am receiving from SunPower. It has been dozens of calls and months of waiting. I am done with SunPower. No one, not a single person at SunPower follows through with anything they say they will do. Crooked is the word that is coming to mind when I think about SunPower. Steer clear of Sun Power. They do not care about their customers in my opinion. They only care about collecting money - no service.

Wow where to start. We selected them after interviewing several. We selected them based on several factors. What we failed to see was how poorly they are organized. This was over a year ago by the way. They would send a crew out to do part of the job, but that crew would not know what the other crew was doing. I felt like I was their project manager. There was a lot of miscommunications between these groups. Some groups were poorly trained and other had to come behind them and fix their work due to it failing some sort of quality check. I was told by some of the employees that they just grab people off the street. Anyway- lots of issues and it did not work properly.

It took 6 months after installation and 6 different groups of people to come out and fix it to get it to work. I have a clay roof. They broke some tiles. I asked for a final check on broken tiles, and they ghosted me. I guess that is my problem now. When I saw the bankruptcy notice, it was not a surprise. I would strongly encourage you to do your research but there is no way I would recommend them. I would like to give them zero stars but I guess that is not an option.

Our options are: Wait for the sale of SunPower with the hope that the buyer lives up to SunPower's original commitment or, engage a contractor to install a new inverter at my cost ($3,800). Due to the pressing heat and my wife’s health conditions, we’ve opted to have a new inverter installed. Just not right!

My mom has been a SunPower customer since 2014, she leases the equipment. She's had problems with her system since day 1. They had my mom sign a contract on a computer which she's never used at 80 something years old. Panels weren't bolted down, inverter went out the first 2 years I believe it was, found out they left boards on roof and put panels over them which caused a huge leak in her roof from puddled water where boards are, been asking them to take the solar off the house and wash our hands of the lease and they won't. Apparently the solar system is $68,000.00 and to buy out the system today would be over $44,000.00 which is absolutely ridiculous, she doesn't even want the system.

She has to have internet which is $80.00 a month which they told us she has to have for monitoring the system, (but when the system was down for 6 months they had no clue it was down til I told them, plus she didn't get credit for that 6 months either) solar payment is $268.00, plus my monthly electric bill is $450.00 a month. This solar is an absolute joke and she's not saving any money, she's paying more every month! Sun power does not get back to me via emails or calls, they pass the problem to someone else and the problem never gets handled! Do your homework and research them. You will find more negative than positive reviews. My mom just passed away and now I'm having to deal with this company and I am completely unsatisfied, angry, frustrated and just want this company to remove all of their equipment, keep that 10 years worth of lease payments and go away!

Good afternoon, I would like to review the lack of communication that I have received from SunPower. In November of 2023, I reached out to say that the solar panels were displaying an error message. On March 19th 2024, I received an email from Sun Power that the earliest date for a site visit was on Thursday, April 18th. I am a first responder who took off work this date for the site visit. No one showed up for the appointment. I did not receive an email or a phone call that the appointment was canceled. I missed a day of work due to this. When I called, I was told I had to wait 48 hours for someone to get back to me.

On April 22nd 2024, I spoke to SunPower on the phone. I was told I would receive compensation for the missed appointment with no communication. As of today, I have yet to receive that compensation. That same day, Susie emailed me to say that she will be assisting with the repair. Susie said to look for the next email on 4/29/24. That date came and went with no email. On June 3rd 2024 I emailed again to say I have not received an update. I did not receive a response. On June 13th I emailed again for an update. I did not receive a response until June 23rd. I was told there was a “supply constraint on the replacement”. I was told I would receive an “email update on 7/30”. That date has passed and I have not received an update. I called on 7/30 for an update. I waited on hold for 2 and a half hours. I ended the call because I had to go into work as I am a first responder.

This situation has been extremely frustrating. The lack of communication and just respect for my time is concerning. I am at the point where I feel I need to get legal representation involved. We are paying for a service that we are not receiving. I am tired of being told that you are paying for the repairs and will receive money back based on the electric bill. Please let me know if there is someone higher that I can speak to, not Susie.

It's crucial that the system is working so it's worth getting solar in the first place, and they were not monitoring it. They do not have any reimbursement nor any sort of customer service plan in place. They said making sure the system is working is a "shared" responsibility. Completely false. It's 100% on the customer. Deeply regret getting it, and looking into how I can terminate this contract. Was told to take it up to my loaning company. Don't get stucked like me.

The whole experience with SunPower was horrendous. We were treated like literal crap, as opposed to loyal customers of 5 years. We needed to get our roof replaced. We contacted SunPower, they told us they could remove our panels and reinstall them. They gave us the price. We approved. We scheduled with SunPower to remove the panels on 4/8/24. We scheduled the roofers to come the next day and replace the roof. SunPower never showed. We had to then cancel the roofers, disturbing their schedule. We were then told someone would call us to reschedule. That took a few days of back and forth. Your customer service people are useless. All they do is tell you someone will call you.

Finally got our panels removed on 4/19/24. Had the roof replaced 4/22/24. Called Sunpower 4/23/24 to let them know the roof was done and panels could get installed. They told us someone would call us. After a week or so, we called again. Now we are being told they need to find parts. Another useless interaction phone with customer service people. Another few weeks go by; we can't get any answers. Now we have been without solar power for over a month. We were not informed that the process of reinstalling our panels would be so complicated. Another few weeks go by, now we are being told by useless phone people that they need to assemble a team. Of Avengers? Not sure. Again, someone will call us. No answers or solutions.

June. We get a bill from ComEd for $161.31. Still no response and only excuses from SunPower. July. Bill from ComEd for $204.19. Now SunPower is saying we have to pay before they will reinstall panels. Would have been great to know in April since the check from insurance has been sitting here waiting. Finally lost my mind and refused to get off the phone with SunPower until someone did something. Finally get an install date of 7/15. ComEd bill for August is $193.23. Now SunPower has cost me $558.73.

I expect to be reimbursed. It was EXTREMELY difficult to get our issue resolved and cost us an additional $558.73 that I expect to be reimbursed. If SunPower does not have the ability to give good (not even great) customer service, you really should not be in the business of working with customers at all. The way we have been treated as paying loyal customers of 5 years is horrendous. As a Customer Relations Manager myself, I would fire anyone who treated my customer in this fashion. Especially loyal customers. You should be ashamed of the extreme process you put us through, the stress, the time wasted calling, texting, pleading. It should not be this difficult to get things done.

Worst customer service ever. After 2 months of use, one panel is broken. SunPower won't send a tech to repair the panel because they are understaffed. They initially set an appointment, and then canceled it. Now they won't reschedule it. I need to wait for them to call me back. Meanwhile the panel is not working. Stay away from Sun Power.

I purchased a home with a SunPower system that is under lease/warranty and had my inverter fail recently. It has been over 7 months since I reported the problem. The inverter is dead and producing no electricity. After several calls, two service visits, cancelled appointments, almost no communication for months, it was determined that my inverter was unserviceable and required replacement. I was given this information via email and told that they would have to replace the unit with a different model, which I agreed to and another appointment was made to come out and take measurements.

The appointment availability is laughable, with openings for appointments over two months or longer, even for a simple checkup or measurement visit. After that visit, another two months pass and they are supposed to be replacing the unit, but on the installation day, the technician that came out said he was here only to remove the defective inverter and send it in for repair with no other information on timeline. Nobody told me that there was a change in plan for the service/replacement/repair.

I am appalled with the lack of communication and the extreme wait times between service calls, with no apparent concern that my system has been sitting and merely collecting dust for over 7 months and there is nobody that even cares enough to call or inform me of timeline or change of plans to address my broken system. I have sent emails that went unresponded, used the messaging system under my case on their online service portal (also unanswered) and calls to 1-800-SUNPOWER that get outsourced to a Philippines call center that have extreme wait times and representatives that are poorly equipped to answer my concerns or even explain what is going on, other than "your case manager will be informed and be in contact with you.", which they don't. They wouldn't even relay my case manager's contact information to me.

I can't even call or email anyone directly regarding my case. You have to call a 800-SUNPOWER and wait for at least 30 minutes on hold. You will be routed to to call center in the Philippines, with unprofessional representative who are interrupted by children in the background and put you on hold to deal with them. I could hear them whispering to their kids to be quiet. Don't be surprise either if you hear chickens in the background. Literally happened to me, more than once. And these guys are nothing more than an answering service with a script. If you are thinking about installing a Sun Power system and they try and sell you on the fact that the warranty will secure your investment, think again. Chances are, if the system breaks, you will go for months or possibly longer without solar power, with poor customer service and frustration.
