After purchasing a jar of the "new" Original Intense Listerine mouthwash, I was extremely disappointed. This product is definitely NOT the intense original formula. In my opinion, it is half the strength of the original, at best! Wasting my hard-earned money on a product that appeared to be no different, except for an updated label, then finding out it is not the product I wanted resulted in wasted time, wasted gasoline and wasted money. Johnson & Johnson needs to reimburse every customer for the purchase price, time and gasoline expenses and launch a media campaign to apologize publicly for their actions. This kind of deceptive marketing is immoral and grossly unfair to the consumer and is what potentially instigates class action lawsuits. I personally will discourage anyone from buying this product.

I don't like mint!! I don't do alcohol!!!! I was very happy with the coconut lime alcohol free Listerine. BUT NOOO, even if it couldn't stay on the shelves, the idiots at Listerine pulled it from production. Have you ever tried calling listerine? If you wait long enough you'll find an out sourced broken English lady reading script. If you ask a question the phone connection gets so bad you'll just hang up. After multiple calls you'll get mad enough to write a review like this one. Are times so bad that a floor stripper/mouth wash company can't hire Americans to answer the phone? Poor customer service.

Don't try their coupons online. They do not work. They get your email address and send you a link for the coupon and then there is no coupon. If you write a review about it they just do not accept the review. I guess they only accept good reviews. Pathetic.

It seemed to work well. But it actually creates a milky white substance in my mouth that I think is a layer of skin being shed from inside my mouth. I noticed it after the 2nd day of use. It continued every day afterwards. I just stopped using it. There is something in the formula that is much too strong and is killing and shedding a layer inside your mouth. Weird.

I'm a 79-year-old male who takes excellent care of his mouth, teeth & gums. I've been using Listerine products for years! My doctor recommended Total Care Listerine Zero Alcohol. I managed to get through a bottle and a little more of another one. All of a sudden my mouth & lips started getting very dry over the Labor Day weekend and my mouth started peeling this cheesy like substance that you could rub right off with your finger in the inside of your mouth and it wouldn't let up. It felt like a snake who was shedding his skin.
My mouth became so raw from this product that I also got a blister inside my mouth. I'm a stage 4 cancer survivor I thought it was a reaction to my medication I didn't think Listerine could do something like this to me it was like a bad Halloween trick or treat joke. I thought I might have cancer of the mouth I didn't know what was happening but I found out it was due to the Listerine Total Care and I'm Furious about it. After reading some of the reviews on the total Listerine site there is enough people having the same problem and it should be taken off the market or at least stated on the label that this could happen to some people instead of scaring the hell out of everybody who is a victim of this product.
It created much stress and pain in my mouth and I'm very upset with this experience and do not want to see other people suffer and go through the scare I went through. I contacted the company and all they said is we will give you a refund. They were completely indifferent to my issue. Since I saw many people on their site with the same complaint you would think they would do something about it?

Please do not buy this. It tastes horribly like chemicals. The smell reminds me of the bug spray I use in my yard. It burned my tongue and mouth. I threw up about twenty minutes after I used it because the horrible taste would not go away. I even tried cough drops to get rid of the sickening taste. If it had not been sealed with plastic I would of thought it had been tampered with. Worst mouthwash taste and I truly wonder what exactly is in this. I will never buy any Listerine products again. Please do not waste your money on this.

I have used Listerine most of my life. This time I purchased the Total Care. BIG MISTAKE. Not only does it burn worse than any mouthwash I have ever tried, it gave me actual burns and blisters on my lips and tongue! It has been 3 days and it hasn’t gotten better. Even putting on lip balm hurts! I wish I had read the other reviews before I purchased this product. There obviously has not been enough testing done. I am in so much pain. I will never buy Listerine again.

I bought the Listerine Total Care without alcohol. The first night I used it it burnt my tongue very bad and I lost all taste in my mouth for three days. My tongue is still burnt and it’s hard to eat a lot of foods. I don’t know why they continue to sell this product when it’s had such an adverse reaction. I’m on board with the other poster for the lawsuit because this is ridiculous. I’ve called and complained and they just keep sending me the same form to fill out like six times so I don’t think they really even care.

I used Listerine Zero Alcohol ‘ONE’ time and that formula had my tongue white and peeling as if I had oral thrush!! Now that I look on the bottle, there’s really no ingredients listed. Listerine needs to discontinue this product because it’s causing damage to the inside of people’s mouths. If anyone is up for a class action lawsuit, hopefully there are some lawyers on this board to start one for us. Everyone, take pictures of the damage done to your mouth because this product is awful and needs to go!!! **

I purchased this mouthwash, thinking that it would be good to have the fluoride protection, and that since it was alcohol free it would be gentle in my mouth. Wrong! The first time I used it I noticed that it stung quite a bit, but I kept using it, theorizing that was normal, and happy that it wasn't as bad as the burn would be with alcohol. My mouth started sloughing on the inside, which I just thought meant it was working, i.e. getting rid of bacterial film. I noticed that my teeth were getting extremely sensitive as well, to the point in which I had to brace myself to take a hot or cold drink. I did not put two and two together with the mouthwash at that time.
Finally, after a month of using it, I got a bright light and looked inside my mouth...my cheeks were ulcerated on the inside, and was sore. It finally dawned on me that it was likely the mouthwash. I quit using it immediately, and two days later I had zero soreness in my mouth, the ulcer was almost gone, and thankfully, the tooth sensitivity went away about as rapidly as well. I will never again buy Listerine! I realize that not everyone is as sensitive as I am, but this to me is a dangerous product.

I purchased Listerine Zero Alcohol mouthwash yesterday morning. I used the product 1 time. I am now experiencing chemical, ulcer like, sores/burns on my tongue, the inside area of my mouth is peeling, and I have lost all sense of taste. I have brushed my teeth at least 4x since using it, and there has been no change in being able to taste or stop the peeling. I absolutely refuse to use even a drop of this product again, and I am keeping the rest as I am considering contacting someone for legal advice. I highly HIGHLY recommend staying as far away from this product as you can. I have seen several other reviews on here mentioning having the same issues. If I could rate it at a negative I would.

Tried this product because I didn't want the burn of the alcohol. But whatever is in this is still causing a slight burning sensation. But that's not the weird part. My mouth seems to be shedding so idk what is going on. That has never happened before until I started to use it. I am definitely discontinuing the usage.

Listerine Zero - I thought that this product would have less of a burning effect than the original one. THIS product has something that is much worse than the burn of the alcohol. It never burned this much before. Several days later, and I am still not able to enjoy foods that would normally have no effect on my mouth. Listerine should spend less money on fancy ads and more on product testing. I will likely be tossing the rest of this bottle and buying something else. WHAT were they thinking? Not happy with Listerine.

My dental hygienist recommended this mouthwash (Listerine Total Care). It is certainly powerful - strong alcoholic content and disinfectant burn, but it feels good. It leaves my tongue and gums tingling and gives a sense of whole mouth cleanliness. I appreciate that it might be too strong for those with more sensitive mouths but if you can hack it, it is good. Having said that there have been three surveys that associate it with mouth cancer but another seven that don't. Untreated gum and tooth disease is also associated with cancer. The US dental association has approved Listerine for regular usage. The recommendation on the bottle is for twice daily usage but I stick to one rinse before I go to bed.

I've tried handful or two different types of mouthwash products in the recent years. Last year I decided to buy Listerine cool mint and behold it burned. Every single time I used it which led me to use it only once in a while. Last time I used it was 3 days ago, it was even less than usual, but even 36 hours later my tongue hurts the same way. Only ice cold water helps on the pain and I've thrown out the rest of the mouthwash. I cannot recommend this at all.

I tried the Listerine mouthwash Natural. There is nothing natural about it. I had been using the Listerine zero and the smallest thing that happens is that my gums shed. But this natural has literally given me chemical burns in my mouth. I have red sores on my lips, that have turned into white sores, my tongue hurts, my gums are inflamed and it hurts to eat. What kind of mouthwash does this to a person's mouth? Let alone a natural one.

Why does Listerine have to sting... A LOT! There are other mouthwashes that don't. Why can't they make it not sting. It burns my mouth like hell. Sometimes I can tolerate it but most of the time I can't. I can't even let it stay in my mouth for 10 seconds. That's how bad the product is. I don't know why a lot of people still buy it. Other brands do not sting but are still effective in cleaning mouths. I bought a big bottle of it and the first time I used it I wanted to throw it away. But I didn't want to waste my money so I used it until the bottle is empty. I already switched to another brand that doesn't sting. Not even a hint of a burning sensation. And cheaper!
I will never buy a Listerine EVER again! It's a good product but I hope they will do or they are already doing something about the sting part. They will lose a lot of money if brands of equal quality minus the stinging will appear in the market. People don't like to get hurt. Why do we need to get hurt just to clean our mouth???!!! Why? The creator of this product must've been a sadist and he likes to torture himself early in the morning! Well, not me... Listerine should step up its game if they wanted to remain alive in the market. They should do a survey about their product. Maybe they did already but didn't give importance to the stinging. Well, good luck to you Listerine.

I contacted Listerine, and been told that they can't do anything and that I had to contact my family doctor!!! Have stopped using the product for a month now, but the stains are still there.

I am a parent and do the shopping for my family thinking I am buying the best products for my children's teeth. Today my son came to me and showed me blood coming from his finger. When I asked how this happened, he said on the lid of the bottle the 2 tabs that stick out after breaking seal the edges were sharpish so when my son clasp the lid to open it cut his finger on the crease of where it bends. My complaint is why did this happen? My son got an injury from such a product. I do have photo proof as I may consider legal action to improve better lids on these mouthwashes safer. My son has moaned for ages saying it hurts when he moves finger due to location of little cut. PLEASE IMPROVE PACKAGING lids.

I have never complain in my life before, but I guess it will be my first time. I buy Listerine toothpaste, Listerine mouthwash, and Listerine strips. I recommended this products to all my friends and family. So on Thursday at work I took 2 Listerine strips in 5 hours, then on Friday I took 2 strips in 6 hours. On Saturday morning I woke up with burned tongue and mouth. When I said burn - I mean burn, I couldn't eat, it was hard to swallow. I didn't know what's going on, I barely could speak.
So I went to work, at work I was gonna take Listerine strip but I couldn't because my tongue was burned. And then I realized WHY. So today is Monday and my tongue is not getting better, and I don't know why. I'm hungry because I can't eat and angry at Listerine company. In 2 days I ate 3 jelly. Listerine need to test their products better. I just wanna eat normal again, I can't eat hot, cold or hard meal. It's hard for to speak. So my gums and tongue are burned. I have sores on the inside of my mouth and cheeks. I can't open my mouth.. Is anybody have the same problem..???

This happened back in 2006 perhaps. Years back definitely. My daughter used the mouthwash, didn't like it, and days later I had her try it again before I gave up on the idea. She did. The next day she came down with a fever of 105.3, vomiting due to the high fever. After carrying her into the doctors office, she was placed on antibiotics after test showed she had a bacterial infection. She had a couple of days of fever over 103 and 104. She would begin to shiver a good bit and I could see the light go out of her eyes as the fever climbed. Ever since she shivers greatly when she gets a fever. I've not been told she has a compromised immune system, but I think that experience may have damaged her system. I will NEVER use mouthwash without alcohol in it as a preservative again. Did let the company know the details and was repeatedly asked to repeat the incident over and over, with no moving forward. They drove me nuts with repetition. I see that there was a lawsuit in Florida, but can't find a result. Strange how something so seemingly benign as mouthwash can make you count your blessings that you still have your child.

I've used Listerine in the past and liked the product, but recently bought their "New & Improved" Cool Mint Mouthwash. I was shocked when I rinsed with it and it literally turns your mouth blue, teeth, tongue, everything. I looked like a 5-year-old who just ate a blue popsicle. I'm very unhappy that my teeth now have a bluish tinge, even after brushing. This has really shaken my confidence in the product. Don't they have scientists who do testing on this stuff before it's sold to the public? Seriously! I can't imagine that a tester saw this and decided it was a good thing to sell this formula.

I bought Agent Code Blue Mouthwash in late January at Walmart's because I loved the idea of a mouthwash that would identify plaque. I used it for about a week, and then stopped because I didn't like the taste. Short while later I began to experience daily diarrhea, intestinal distress and bloating. I immediately went on a diet of chamomile tea, yogurt and soft boiled eggs to correct what I thought was a bout of flu or some food intolerance. The problem is, the intestinal distress didn't heal up, it got worse.
Even with that spartan diet, it evolved into acute abdominal pain, and feeling sick all over, low body temperature, acute sweating on the back of the neck, unusual weakness and exhaustion. Bumps appeared in the lining of my mouth. After about four weaks of this acute abdominal pain-which didn't seem to budge- I went to doctor and was given tests, and given an antibiotic. One day after taking the antibiotic the
acute abdominal pain ceased. I was elated, but the general weakness and unstable feeling persisted. The bumps inside my mouth turned into mouth or canker sores - all over the mouth. To help the sores, I got Orajel mouthsore rinse, which began to help heal them.
During these months of February, March and early April I continued on a very mimimal and easy to digest diet. Doctor assumed the longevity of my not feeling well was that my body was struggling to recover from the acute abdominal infection.
But last week, when I read that Listerine had recalled Agent Code Blue because it was contaminated with "microorganisms" which could cause serious health risks to immune compromised people, I realized that what had triggered this two plus months of illness was almost certainly Agent Code Blue.
