A reverse mortgage was right for us at that time. When we called Liberty, they told us about everything and how it would go. We thought that was good information so we went with them. The loan officer told us what to do and explained everything to us in a simple way. She was great. Their guidance helped us out a lot. We love Liberty so far.

We owned our place but our current income is very low and doesn’t support a loan. My initial contact with Liberty's loan officer made me go with them. He was very responsive, very personable, and knowledgeable. He followed up, answered questions, and was a hands-on guy. We did get another bid from another company, got into the negotiations of the fees but the rates were better with Liberty. It was also a reason we went with them and we had a very good experience.

We had no house payment and my husband's been sick. His illnesses took everything we had and so the reverse mortgage was the best thing to do. I called a couple of companies and Liberty was the one that stepped up right away and they were very helpful. The first rep I talked to was a woman and she was great. Then I got changed to the one who went with me through the whole thing and it was a young man. I was a little upset at first, but he was very good and on the ball. He tried to work hard for me for different things and I liked him very much. I had a lot of questions and Liberty made me feel comfortable that if I had any more, I could just call them at any time.

I am of an age, have had a full work life and decided not to go back to work for the first time in my life. I'm single and have no heirs that need my home, so I thought I might take the opportunity to give me some additional income should I want or need it. That's why I decided to take a reverse mortgage. I compared different companies and I thought Liberty Home has the best plan. The gentleman that I dealt with during preparation and the person who helped me at closing were incredibly wonderful. They were very helpful even after the loan was closed. In today's world, it's impressive. I would definitely give the company accolades. I had an excellent experience with them. Should somebody ask me for a referral, I would definitely refer them to Liberty.

We are in our 80's and we thought a reverse mortgage would be a better thing for us. Then we had to think about it for quite a while because our home is paid for but we need to pay off four debts in which some of them were large and we wanted to do things to our house. We got somebody come in to measure the floor in the entrance and that's how we found out about Liberty. I called and talked to the loan officer and it sounded more promising. She helped us so much, I couldn’t have asked for anybody better. She told me to call her anytime and she always answered my questions. We thought the experience was good and we're very glad we did that. We paid our bills that we wanted to pay off and we got quite a bit of our money left. Now we're looking at improving our house and keeping some for savings. I've also recommended Liberty to others.

I’m 91 years old and my wife is 63. I bought a couple of equities for her. I chose a reverse mortgage to get out of the mortgage that we had. I’ve been setting up her retirement so she’ll have an income for the rest of her life when I pass away. I selected a company that had the best possible deal or the lowest amount of money that I would have to give up. They were going to pay off my mortgage. A couple of the reverse mortgage people I spoke to had fees that amount to $8,000 to $10,000 and Liberty had fees that were much less at about $5,000 only. Eric, the officer I had, was very good and was absolutely professional. He called us and kept us up-to-date right up to the last minute. He provided me with all the information I needed and the rates that I thought I would get, so I was quite happy with it. I had the best experience of all with my home mortgage provider.

But eventually, I learned a lot more and then Steve helped me out too. I was very well-informed with the things I needed to know and it's not as complicated as it used to be. It was a very pleasant experience.

The company that has bought the mortgage was pretty awful and they're not easy to deal with at all. Liberty Home was great that they went out of their way to overcome problems that we kept running into and managed to get the thing done. A reverse mortgage worked best for what my father-in-law's needs are. I interviewed three companies and liked Equity Home Solutions the best. l enjoyed the conversation I had with Dan, their loan officer, too. I know my father-in-law is not that pleased. From what I understand, the guys who were sent out to do the signing have to go back out because some things were not done properly. I also understand that the checks were misspelled, so it's gonna be questionable if their bank will allow them to deposit it. The appraisal process took two weeks which is a long time because the appraiser got sick. I know in my business, as I'm a loan officer as well, that I would've had another appraiser do it. The experience didn’t go as smoothly as we had anticipated.
Mr. Ward, Liberty would like to apologize for the process not going as smoothly as expected. Throughout the processing of Home Equity Conversion Mortgages there are multiple third parties that assist in order to get the closing done quickly and seamlessly as possible. In your father-in-law's situation, it appears there may have been delays with these third parties including the appraiser and title agent. Thank you for providing feedback and for placing your trust with Liberty, we hope your father-in-law will enjoy everything the loan has to offer.

I'm almost 70 years old and on a fixed income. I wanted extra income per month which would do me well, and I went with Liberty Home Equity Solutions because it has the total loan cost. Also, they were less high end and they assured that if I have questions in the future, they would be resolved by my loan rep without shutting me off to the servicing department all the time. Colleen, the loan rep that I had, was excellent. She answered on the tip of her tongue and she always took my calls. Also, the processing agent Yvonne was great.
The only option I had was getting a home equity loan and then I would have to make a monthly payment. So, the reverse mortgage was my choice, although I don't like the financial terms. There's compound interest that can never be found in a home equity loan. Also, I can no longer deduct my annual mortgage interest. That's a $3500 deduction I can no longer take. Unlike Liberty, AAG gave me a big runaround. Also, these companies jimmy around with the closing cost but effectively they're all the same. They may give what looks like a deal on closing cost or they may waive their loan fee but they make it up. Nothing's free and they just jack up the interest rate.

At my age of 63, I own my own home. I thought I could use half of its equity and pay a couple of things off. But I was diagnosed with cancer and I may come across some unexpected bills. So I looked online to see which companies were the most reputable that had good comments from people who previously used their services. Then I found Liberty and Quicken Loans. But I chose Liberty and I’m really glad that I did.
They had two loan officers who were really good. They called me daily, kept me updated with everything that was going on, and let me know where I was at in my loan process, what will be happening next, and what to expect. Everything that they told me was done on their timeframes. They answered everything that I asked them in a timely fashion and I’d recommend them highly to anybody. I got a reverse mortgage with Liberty because I was impressed by the information that I received from the gentleman who contacted me from their office. He’s very forthcoming. Any time I had a question, it was answered promptly. I found nothing that I was informed about which was not as he had said it would be. I found him a rather engaging personality. I’m also getting a statement faithfully once every month in regard to the policy, how much credit I have, and how much of the total amount involved was. And I have had no problem with any questions that I may have when I contact anybody in regard to this loan. I’m perfectly happy with Liberty.

Liberty followed through pretty much right away when I began inquiring, and as I checked on it, it seemed a good company. The loan officer was excellent and really helpful. I am an older person and I didn't want to move into a condo. I wanted to keep my house, and then my husband died about a year ago. He left me some insurance, but not a lot. I needed to do some work to keep the house open. I saw an ad about Liberty and I talked to a man named Randall. He was very nice and even-tempered. We ran into some problems over the course of six months and he didn't get upset. There were times when I was going to call it quits and he kept me focused.
The only thing is that Liberty told me I was supposed to be dealing with a company called C-Link and I still haven't heard from that company. What I've heard from is a company called Ocwen Loan Servicing and that's in Lansing, Michigan. I talked to Randy and he told me that that was a company that Liberty worked with. I'm confused about that part of because at the time that I got this loan, there was a lien on my home from Internal Revenue. Then two weeks later, I got the bill from the government that I still needed to pay the $250 a month. Randy told me not to worry about it, but I'm worried.
The other thing that Liberty was gonna pay is my city taxes. I have not heard anything about them and I've got my tax bill here. I still don't know what the procedure is for C-Link or Ocwen for them to take over the payment. This is what Liberty promised me and it isn't happening. I've got all kinds of brochures in the mail, but I don't know what all these letters are for. I was gonna call Randy today, but I didn't call him 'cause this is not turning out the way that I expected it to. The bottom line is I was satisfied up until the closing. It seems like Liberty doesn't know what the answers are, so I'm screwed. It was like they got me in and said I was gonna get so much money, but nobody knows what I'm talking about when I ask when C-Link is gonna send me something. They have to stand by their side of the contract because I did.

I wish I hadn’t chosen the reverse mortgage, now that I know the complete thing. I talked to a Liberty representative and he told me to pay the interest and it will keep me at $50,000. I'm paying on that and I don’t want it being $100,000 in two years. But it compounds again and again. If I have to move out, I don’t want my $600,000 house to be worth $100,000 all of a sudden. It’s something that I wish I hadn’t have done. I like the money but I have gotten a few things done. No matter what you do, you can’t ever get caught up. I've put in my $240 and then Liberty said that I gotta do more and then, “No”. I’m ready to send back the rest of the money. I thought I could only pay interest and the mortgage cost per month.
I’m waiting to see what this one comes back to me at. They said, “Pay a few dollars extra and see what that happens.” ‘Cause the people I’m talking to evidently don’t know what to tell me. But I thought everybody answered all my questions as long as I asked the right ones. I needed my deck repaired and my dock but that’s a high price to pay ’cause I couldn’t have gotten a home equity loan of $50,000. I think it’s a lot more than what people think it is and that’s my feelings as of today. Better be aware.

We budgeted before my retirement and we thought it would be fine but the last couple of years, we've realized that our savings would not be good enough as we got older. We are still paying a mortgage which really worried us. Our mortgage was already at a very good rate so we knew we couldn't improve on that very much. We looked at other ways of solving our worries. We read an article online then did a very basic application to have some more information on reverse mortgages. After that, we were contacted by Ron from Liberty Solutions. He explained to us exactly what a reverse mortgage involves.
One thing we couldn’t understand was that the reverse mortgage was pushed as a way to scale back by buying a new, smaller house. We couldn't figure out how that would work but Ron went to great lengths to explain all that so we could understand it properly. Following that conversation, he advised us to inquire further and figure out exactly what would suit us, what the market was, where we want to live. The first thing we realized was that we wouldn’t be able to find a house as comfortable as the one we have. What worried us was the upkeep and not the size. What we were looking at, which would have been cheaper, was not very good. The second thing was we looked at two other companies and were not overly impressed. So we went back and talked further with Ron and from that point, we decided to go with Liberty Solutions.
The guidance they provided was excellent. At every stage, Ron was careful to say that if we don't understand a term or if it's unclear to us, then we should speak up because we really need to understand exactly what we're doing. We liked that. We needed to know that we haven't made a mistake because it will affect our whole future. My husband and I are pragmatic and don't like to be bulldozed with words, which was not Ron's style. He was down to earth and not pushy. He also provided us a list of people for the counseling session. There was also the appraisal which he wasn't involved in but that was all set up with no problems. We knew what was happening and when. Everything was done professionally and we felt Ron knew what he was doing. The whole process went very well and we were very satisfied. I'd definitely recommend Liberty Solutions.

I liked that it was done locally because I could figure out how they were going to do all that stuff. Once there was a lady who was the notary that came here. She wasn't pushy in any way and she was very patient with me. She laid out the options beautifully to me and made sure I understood everything. I felt very comfortable with her.

I thought that getting a reverse mortgage would be the handiest over other products because I'd have some extra money. So I got one from Liberty and I went with them because their ratings were pretty good on the internet. The guidance that I got was very educational, there were things I didn’t realize that reverse mortgages incorporated.

I started with a different company but there were a few things that had to be straightened out and I felt like I was doing all the work while they just sat back and told me to get information or asked how soon I can get something done. If I was doing all the work, why was I paying them a commission? Then I tried Liberty and the first gentleman I got, Randall, worked with me very nicely and helped get things in place. However, I got some problems with my mortgage and hit a dead end with Bank of America. Then Randall just finally told me that maybe I should get out of the house. I got really sick and upset about this. I'm 70 years old and I'm trying to stay in the house and fix it up.
So after regrouping and knowing my situation wasn't going to change, I called again and asked that I not get Randall. I had established a lot of information with Liberty and they had all my information. I got another gentleman and he was a great guy. He was so helpful, patient and just kept telling me, “Don’t worry. We’ll get through this.” My senior citizen information and education certificate had expired in the middle of restarting again so we had to restart from square one and he never once got frustrated with me or the situation. The second time around was a lot better and calmer because a lot of the leg work was done. If they told me I had to get something done, I did it within 48 hours of the request. It was easier and the rep was a lot easier to work with. He seemed to have a better way of processing it. He also explained some things to me.
The only thing that I am pissed off about is the repair that they had me do. It wasted a lot of my money that I didn't have to waste. They knew I was clearing out the bathroom and because I kept getting cut off for the money, I had to keep putting off the contract and I lost one contractor because he couldn't wait any longer. So I had to find a second contractor. Liberty made me put a floor in the bathroom when they knew it was being torn out. But they said I could let it go if I could get the contractor. I had to go right up until the absolute deadline that I had to have a floor installed and I had to pay to have it installed. I didn't have the money for that.
Then they insisted that I paint the pressurized treated wood in my porch which was ridiculous. Every contractor I’ve talked to told me I don’t have to. Then they said I had to paint the cover. We painted the trim but they said that wasn't it. I had to get painters in because I could not reach up that high and bend my head back to paint a ceiling. I still flunked the inspection. I finally asked one lady in the repair department to tell me what they were talking about. Everything’s been painted and the only thing I didn’t paint was the roof shingle. She said, “Well, painting the inside roof should do it.” I flunked again so I asked for a picture of what they want done. I was sent a picture and it was the stupid post. The only side of the post that wasn't painted was where the screens were attached so I had to rip the screen down and paint that side of the post, and then I passed. I had to tear apart the whole damn porch.
Now, I have to use money that I am paying interest on to get my porch fixed again, and the interest is just mounting. What I am doing now is I have expendable income on my Social Security and I am buying as much of the product as I can afford. I’m using the loan for large items and the contractors. I'll take that income after everything is done and start applying it back so the loan doesn’t get out of hand.
The loan is serving its purpose but I wasn’t hoping to be this high in debt so quickly. After everything was satisfied, I’m $50,000 in debt. All I wanted was $30,000 as a whole deal. I was hoping to just be about $40,000 in debt, instead it’s a little bit more. I’m grateful for the opportunity and that I’m still in my home. This is possibly a good opportunity for some people but it’s not for everybody.

The Liberty Home Equity representative who came to our house was excellent and his service was outstanding. He brought his own mortgage closure which was seamless and excellent. Their sales process was more than smooth. It's better than getting a mortgage. Like all other people, we have our doubts, but once we got done talking with him, we were pretty well sold that this was a legitimate deal. And it’s good for us because we’re 69 and we don’t intend on owning a house. They’ve done a great job.

I decided a reverse mortgage would be good because my credit was not good. I had no job and I only had my social security, so refinancing was out. We had to move fast ‘cause I didn’t want to lose the house or get behind. The rep of Liberty was very good about it. He got everything done very quickly and we flipped it to a reverse mortgage in time that I didn’t have any problems. They provided me with a lot of counselling and they were very nice and were always available by phone.

We were living on Social Security and so we began to look at the various reverse mortgage companies, and Liberty Solutions really worked closely with us and explained things very well and got things going. We were pleased with the way they did things. At the same time, we had tried AIG and they were so pushy and their figures just weren't even comparable, compared to Liberty Solutions.
So we went with Liberty Solutions and didn't go any further. Liberty gave me the best experience I've had with a reverse mortgage company, by far. They really treated us right and that's the reason we decided to sign up with them, and were happy with their follow-up and what they do. We have recommended Liberty Solutions to other people. The loan officer at Liberty kept us advised of any changes whatsoever and when we ran into problems that we didn't know what to do, we called him and without exception, he either told us what was going on or he changed the situation so that things worked out well.

I have a daughter who is in real estate and she helped us decide to go with Liberty. The loan officer was not as knowledgeable as he should have been. I'm not unhappy that I did what I did, but I probably should've looked around more and had a better interest rate. I didn't think their overall organization was as good as you would expect.
Great feedback, Joyce! We genuinely appreciate it and we’re glad to hear that you’re happy with your experience working with Liberty.

At the time, I felt that reverse mortgage was something that would be good. Liberty was the one that the guy who started the whole thing chose for me. The guidance I received from the loan officer was fine. But the only thing I'm not happy with is how much the interest is. It's just ridiculous. If I had known that the interest was going to be that high, and the accumulation of interest in four months would be over $6,000 which is a lot of money, I wouldn't have done it. I wish I had done a little more research into it because the interest is a lot and I don't recall anyone telling me that.

My experience with Liberty Home Equity has been okay so far. However, I wasn’t totally informed about the money that was held back. I didn’t know so much money would be taken out as a backup. At first, I was told when I was going over the paperwork that it was for paying taxes. But then I heard something else. Now I’m not sure what the real reason is. Other than that, there was no problem.

I wanted a reverse mortgage and Liberty had good rates, but their service was always very slow. And I wasn't happy with the amount my house appraised for. When I got a suitable appraisal, they ignored me without any explanation, so I'm seriously thinking of refinancing again.
Sorry your experience was not exceptional, Liberty strives to provide excellent customer service while providing a quick and seamless loan process. Not all loans run as smooth as others and extenuating circumstances may cause delays, Liberty apologizes if your loan process lasted longer than anticipated or if you received anything short of stellar customer service.

Our daughter who helps us with our business was concerned about our future, so recommend Liberty to us. We went to talk to them and we were very pleased. Working with the loan officer was very pleasant. My husband, my daughter, and I were very well received, and we understood exactly what we were going to do. The guidance was very good! Plus, the owner of the company was a very agreeable and kind person - we really like and trust him. He was the one that was explaining to us what we were going to do, so he was very important in our decision. Liberty saw our situation and offered us what we needed and we got it, so we're very satisfied.

Reverse mortgage was part of my retirement plan and Liberty was referred by my son because he works with them. Their rep was excellent, nice, timely and very efficient. There were so many misconceptions about reverse mortgages so Liberty required the counselling services that the Federal government requires and that went very well. They guided me through that excellently. I would advise other people to do the same and I think people need to be educated more about it.

A friend of mine recommended Liberty Home Equity Solutions and introduced me to Bob, one of their loan officers. He was great and on top of everything. He answered all my questions and was genuinely caring and very helpful. Liberty gave me a ton of information, and they were very thorough. It was a great experience. It went very well, and in fact, of all the loans and refinancing I've done, it was one of the best.

I felt better and more comfortable doing a reverse mortgage. I did some searching and went with a company, and then compared them to Liberty. Liberty by far was the best. They worked with me a lot better than the other one. I trust Liberty. Their rep answered all my questions. I slept on it since I wanted to make the right move, and then, I got back with them. The rep was very patient. She stayed with me and reassured everything was going to be fine, which turned out that way. It's a simple process, but the other company I went through didn’t follow up and made comments that didn’t sound right. Liberty was true blue all the way. Their follow-up was within hours, they kept me informed all the way through it, and I'm very happy.
Great feedback, Terry! We genuinely appreciate it and we’re glad to hear that you’re happy with your experience working with Liberty.
