Very dissatisfied with the service. Before purchasing, the information that was 'found' stated a document I was looking for was there. After purchase, the document was not. That said, I was VERY satisfied with the customer service I received when looking for cancellation and a refund.

I used Instant checkmate to find about a friend I knew 45 years ago, I haven't been able to keep track of him and checkmate help me find him. I'm so relieved he's still alive and really appreciate the help and accuracy with checkmate!! When it was time for me to cancel because I no longer needed their service, it was very easy without problems. If I needed them again for any search I know where to go!!

Having inhabited this earth for 89 years, I feel that my life review was somewhat incomplete. For example, I didn't find anything concerning my educational background, that includes a bachelor of science degree with an accounting major from the College of the Holy Cross, right here in Worcester, MA, nor about my 2 Masters' degrees, one each from Worcester State University and from Babson College in Wellesley, MA. Nor was there a word mentioned concerning my teaching career that spanned 38 years as a business educator at the former New England School of Accounting and two secondary schools in the Worcester Public School System.
I should probably add that my career as a Maintenance Shop Clerk must necessarily be attributed to somebody other than myself. Also missing from the report is any mention of my military service both in the Massachusetts Air National Guard, as well as in the U.S. Air Force, both here and in Germany. In conclusion I would suggest that there were numerous people named in my report, but I was least among them!

I was assisted by a professionally and pleasant representative, Mauricio in Peru. He listened to my situation. He understood my need to cancel. I needed your service for a one time only. He took care of managing the cancellation. I stayed on the phone to do the requested survey, answer two questions then the call dropped, and I had a dialtone.. I’m now filling out the online survey. When having submit review, it doesn’t appear to be going through.

You had false information on your ad - online. I was looking for a marriage certificate which in fact your ad states that I could get on your Instant checkmate. After going thru all your questions and putting in a payment credit card then I find out that a marriage certificate is personal and that you cannot give me a copy!!!! Or even let me know that you were unable to give me any information about that!!!! I want a credit for the charge you put onto my credit card!!!! $35.47.

Very helpful in obtaining needed records. Cancellation was also very easy. I would use this in the future. I did not realized that so much information could be obtained. It could prove to be helpful when entering an agreement with an individual or company.

I used this after I searched how to find a marriage license. I paid the 1st month and found NO marriage licenses....even for myself and my ex-husband??? I canceled it (hopefully) but received no confirmation of my cancellation, only this survey.

The representative seemed helpful. The problem is that it is not clear on the website that you are signing up for a monthly charge. I thought I was only signing up for one month and have no use for an ongoing subscription. He explained that there was a check box that explained it, but I didn't understand the conditions.

There wasn't any useful information paying the expensive monthly fee of $34.57and then even more for the$3.99 fee to download your report that there was no reason to save so I don't understand what benefit you get for your subscription when each category you clicked on for more details only asked you for more payment to view. On every category not just one so the extra $5.99 for every category on top of the cost of the subscription and download fee was outrageous to pay for nothing in the end but information that I already knew.
Your service does NOT provide anything useful for a background check and you don't even find that out until you have already paid all your fees! What a rip off!!! Also my Guardian Protection app red flags your website as a huge risk for leaking personal information and claims it to be unsafe to use! Check that out for yourself! I'm reporting that to the federal trade commission and the Better Business Bureau. Waste of my hard earned money!!!!

I enjoyed the program very much until they started stealing from my checking account by double billing me for 3 months. After I was contacted by my bank about the double charges I ask the bank to not pay the double charge but to refund me for one of the monthly charges, my bank refund me for the 2nd charge and now instant checkmate cut off my access to my account after they have stolen money for 2 months prior to this.

They suck. They lure you in and send outdated reports. Then when you ask for a refund they refuse. This matter will be escalated to every consumer protection advocacy agency I can find. Consumer beware!

I have not been able to login to the website for months and technically support has been unable or unwilling to resolve the issue. I got a screen when I tried to log in that said NEXT and I could not progress past it. Nothing happened when you clicked on NEXT.

I used your service once. I was looking at my visa bill and saw that you were still billing me more than two years later, I have been paying $35.12 a month for years, no communication from you people for the whole time. I should have checked my statement for sneaky charges but I didn't think I had to.

As a consumer who randomly checks backgrounds this service cost too much. I prefer to pay-as-you go. Pay for 1 time usage, 1 week usage or one month usage. Not to have a monthly subscription which was a complete waste of services for me. Benefitted only your company. Hard to cancel. My phone was not recognized forcing me to wait for a live agent.

I have paid since December and only used the app once for 0.99. I sent email to cancel and was never notified you are not able to cancel via email. How am I to know the procedures. Agent Mathias lacks listening skills. My conversation with him was unprofessional. He needs serious training. He spoke over me when I was attempting to express my issue regarding recent charges. Bruno was very helpful. I called regarding a refund that I did yesterday. He explained that he did not see a refund! I instantly got upset. However, he explained that he would do it right now. He said I should get this back to my account in 3 -5 business days. I asked him if he was sure that it was canceled and refunded. He assured me it would be, and if it is not, call back after 4 days. He also explained a survey was going to be emailed to me (this would confirm my call today). He also explained calls are recorded so if it does not go thru PLEASE call back. I feel he handled it all very well, he sounded very competent in his job.

I rely on a firm monthly billing. Adding a day for a 31 day month, yet I saw no change for February's 28 day month. How about non changing billing that we can count on money being removed from our bank accounts the same day every month like credit cards, bank loans, retailers, and everyone else in the world. I started paying on the 17th of each month, and now it's on the 2nd of the month after many years of subscriber experience.

I cancelled my monthly subscription over a year ago. I only needed it for 1 search. I have still received a monthly 3.99 charge, monthly after but haven't called until today. I thought it was going to be long and drawn out to get this fixed but turns out I actually had 2 separate subscriptions, and I only cancelled the one. The customer service rep was able to find my account see the cancellation date of the initial service and why I was still being billed and get this cancelled in under 5 minutes. He also saw I had a discount offer on my account and asked if I was interested, but was not pushy in making the sale. I said I was not interested at the moment, and that was that. Definitely a pain-free customer service experience.

Searches had old outdated information and any court public records mentioned had no data. I was also unaware of being charged for months. I did not sign up for a year! Hundreds of dollars wasted on a site that I rarely used in 2025.

Horrible. I went through the entire application process and gave them all of my private information as required, including credit card information. After everything was done, and after they charged my card, I was not allowed to sign in to receive my information requested. I received a notice that my account was blocked. No explanation I called the number and they could offer NO explanation. No product. No service. No information. I feel completely ripped off. After they received ALL of my identifying and credit information, they blocked me from the service. No explanation given.

Your system doesn't allow me to enter, someone forgot to connect the "Next" box so you can't remove the sign telling you that it is a new system and log in. She helped me find a report I needed. I thought Checkmate did an average job. They would not give out a phone # and said that when I was canceling, they would add that if I reconsidered. They did not provide a picture of the person and a present address for the person in question.

I had to call because the ivr was not cooperating. Lucca was the agent I spoke with. He was extremely professional, efficient as well as knowledgeable and polite. I would speak with him again if I needed to. Without an argument or debate he was able to cancel my subscription as well inform me that I had not just one but two of them, which was a surprise. Monday, 2-2, I called tech support for assistance with trouble shooting difficulties with downloading reports. I was not happy with this service. It did not provide the information that you stated on the webpage, which is actually false and bogus and stated that you would show information on a person who has been going through social media and what sites they’ve been on and who have they been texting etc. I did not receive any of that information. I somehow & unknowingly used this service 1x to look up an old friend & did not realize I was signing up for a subscription. Therefore, I continued paying a monthly fee for a service I did not use. I don't have anything nice to say about this company. They charge a ridiculous amount of money for the service and fails to deliver the service. I would not recommend using this website. It's a complete waste of time to go through all of the steps to get to a simple death report.

Much information is incorrect, and all information is about 3 years old and needs serious updating. My daughter has never lived in California, but the location map shows she has. Sex crimes map is nice, but several other criminal records are not shown. I know this because I have a record and it is not shown.

I was not satisfied with your product, as it did not include the one thing I needed to find, My Military service record at all. Anything else I look for required pay more money, over the top of the outrageous subscription fees! All other information was basically fluff, mostly stuff I already knew! On top of that I woke up to an $85 and change subscription fee! So I had to cancel my card and had to cancel the subscription, and the call Checkmate to get my money refunded! At least they were very gracious granted my refund. Thank you for the refund!

When I used Instant checkmate for first time, I was not aware that it required me to sign up for a monthly self-renewing subscription. I thought the flat fee was a one time charge and was not informed by email that I only had to a certain date to "unsubscribe"before being charged a monthly fee. I suggest that your website should explicitly state that the one time fee of $3.99 will be charged on 11/18/25 IN ADDITION TO A MONTHLY FEE OF $27.49, also charged on 11/18/25, valid until 12/18/25 and on that date a monthly subscription fee will start to be charged. I cancelled my Instant Checkmate subscription on 12/18/25, but my AMEX Gold card ending in ** was again charged $3.99 on 12/18/25 as well as $27.49 on 12/18/25! I cancelled the subscription on that day before charges were posted so I expect a refund please!

Somehow this A/C was set up but I had no record of it. I tried to cancel but had major problems with that process. First email got a response of needing more information. Second, third and fourth emails told me that "You can't cancel the account via email, and you have to call." Good software. I would like to use again, however I am not sure what functionalities exist. I am hopeful that new processes have been created since my last use. I subscribed to locate prior residences. InstaCheckmate found them. The first level assistant kept repeating they found them in "public records". Your associate handled my call to reactivate my account very professionally & competently. My complaint is you do not offer EFT as a payment method. I needed to reactivate because of possible fraud on the Debit Card my account is paid utilizing. I needed to cancel & replace my Debit card and this involves waiting several days (Ten Business Days in my case).

I am not very happy with the way they got my money in the first place. The first time I canceled, and received an email acknowledging my access until Dec. 3, 2025. I received notice that a password for Instant Checkmate had recently been leaked. As a victim of scams, it was imperative to me that this be addressed. All I wanted was a proper receipt for a subscription, they refused to help. The subscription has a sales tax charge, they wont show proof they collected, if this is legitimate why not provide the receipt for the charge to my credit card. Something isn't right.

I feel I was misled and grossly overcharged. I had to sign up for the service to convert a pdf to smaller and went to cancel and was offered I believe it was 500 pdfs to convert for 3.99 if I didn’t need the service. Instead they charged me 3.99 a month for a year and one more month of the service and I didn’t use it once

The agent I spoke to, but your product is deficient of my needs and or my expectations based on what I read on how to join. First, there were no military records as the outline suggested was found on the person I was performing. The background checked on. And secondly, there was not the ability to print a PDF. It would have to be an additional $3.99 subscription service, which is extremely misleading and a bait and switch tactic. The agent stated I will receive an email documenting the cancellation of my subscription. TIME WILL TELL.

I believe this service is a ripoff. I paid $27 for a incomplete report missing details. I found more information by simple googling. This was a waste of my time and money. I would not recommend this website. I want this monthly service canceled immediately!

Horrendous... the report was practically empty. Contacted CIREMI [Customer Service]. She acknowledged the lack of information. She sent me a new report... wrong birth year and age... then she offered free telephone [reverse lookup] then sent me a link to signup with my credit card. At that point I cancelled it with a reversal of charges... and I requested an email of such... Never received an email of the reversal of charges. Had to call back and speak with a new representative [LUCCA]. He sent me an email, which I received in 5 minutes while on the phone. 5 STARS > LUCCA ... >>>>>> ZERO STARS TO CIREMI [Customer Service] -POOR JOB / OVER PROMISED with ZERO RESULTS except aggravation.

I called to get refunded as the information I received was not current. I spoke with a man named Lucca! I was completely impressed with this man and his customer service skills. He is so great on the phone with explaining information about how your company works that I thought this person must be the owner of the company!!! If he is NOT the owner he should be commended and promoted and GIVEN ownership shares!!! You really should listen to him in our phone conversation!!! You don’t have conversations like this when you are disappointed in a product and you have to call and potentially meet up with opposition to your request of a cancellation and refund. I did a Google search and even the AI said Instant Checkmate was the most reliable for people/phone etc. searches. I don't understand why you can't accept instructions via email from a customer. Just about any other company I have an established relationship with accepts email instructions - many prefer it. Once I got through to customer service, they were very helpful, efficient and polite.

Be aware of charges when you are trying to cancel the account. Canceling by email won't do it. When I called the automatic feature to cancel was very, very frustrating. Once I got a customer rep on the line, she was very helpful and made it easy to cancel and get my refund.

You have database full of valuable information and your support group seems good. But your server is in serious need of more RAM? Your system is so slow that I have to wait up to 1 min (or more) for the results to come up!!! So I spend more than half my time waiting!!! And now it has locked me out? And I'm told I have to wait for up to 72 hours for it to get unlocked? Seriously? Then I WOULD EXPECT MY MEMBERSHIP TO BE EXTENDED EQUAL TO THE NUMBER OF DAYS IT TAKES FOR YOU TO UNLOCK IT!!!

You have been billing me $1.99 since 2019. I have not used any of your services except for the first time according to your agent. I do not recall subscribing to your company. I was finally able to get a phone number to call you. I think if I did use your service the one time but I did not want or need a subscription. I think that your website might not state that if you use it once you are automatically subscribed. So you take advantage of anyone using your services once and unknowingly we are subscribed. I will be putting in claim with my bank to recover my money. I never subscribed!!

The rep I spoke with told me that there was fine print that said the information we present may be incorrect. He also said the extent of the databases only went back to the 90's. The information I was presented with did have information about my family and an area where they lived at one time, but the information about the individual I was looking for was wildly inaccurate.

Waste of MONEY. Found one out of three relatives searching for. My time is more important than trying to find people with no results on your system. I called and asked Ciremi in support for my son's report and he sent wrong information for someone I don't even know. When I gave him all of the correct information to find my son.

I was trying to locate one person who was a possible half-brother. None of the information that Instant Checkmate provided was of any help. No one listed had ever known him. No records were available for him. He was born in CA and currently lives in CA, according to 23 and Me. We are related by DNA. I was not found by your service. Your service was able to provide a report in 2018. Your service could also not find one of my siblings. We are both property owners who could be easily Google searched. With disappointment, I have to cancel based on this lack of performance. After getting billed for an extra 60 - 90 days, I finally got this cancelled. The guy on the phone was very helpful and fast (Daniel?). Now the information was below average. I found out more on google searches than here. I was directed here when searching for background checks for poor credit and unpaid debts. I got zero help, I later did find some on my own. It was over $425,000.00 so, a easy find.

I was misled by your advertising and thinking I could find out the names of the women. My friend was married to in the past. But that information was not available. All I could find was information that was easy for me to find for myself from Google. The customer service person was helpful in canceling my account.

I signed up to do a background check. The background check was not at all current. It was from 2022 I think. I know the individual has been arrested twice in the last 6 weeks on a moving violation at the minimum. I will not be interested in keeping this service if it can't offer up to date and accurate information.

I have used your app before it. It worked great. I was very satisfied with the results. But this last time I purchased a $5 plan and a $37 plan and every time I go to use it, it wants to charge me all over again. I have had it for about 3 months and I have not been able to get a report.

You advertised that military records would be available; THEY ARE NOT! I called the customer service number and was told that it depends on what state I am in. That makes no sense as these are national records! The gentleman on the phone was courteous and canceled my subscription immediately. I am to get a full refund. I was never able to use the services AT ALL. I got the membership and when I opened the app it had a window pop up telling me about the app like an intro, or demonstration for app operations..... I was unable to select either option on the window and it would not go away.

Using it is just time intensive and cumbersome. I only used it three times I think. It takes a long time to load the information you're looking for. It also gives you multiple results instead of just showing what exactly matches your search parameters.

I only bought one month. They continue to charge my credit card for an additional 3 months. I called to cancel and they made it very difficult to cancel. Then they said I have to confirm the cancellation through an email they send me. No email came through, but interesting enough I have no trouble receiving all their marketing spam emails. I had to mark them as fraud with my credit card company to stop them from stealing from me. I still don’t think they cancelled my auto payment like I requested.

I did not realize I was signing up for 3 different programs. Your Subscription is very devious. You charge people without them realizing it. I'm glad I caught it. I want ALL my subscriptions canceled. I did call & speak to a Maria who said she would reverse ALL the charges.

None of this information was accurate. (From relatives to bank accounts and places of domain, etc.) It has many more wrong statements than true and then when I tried to cancel, they still charged me. However did return and cancel after several attempts. Be careful what you allow with these people and don't believe most of it as this is just set up to make the person interesting in a nefarious way.

As you mentioned, your account was billed on September 8 because the subscription had not been previously canceled. The confirmation of your cancellation does explain that you will still retain access to the service until the end of your current billing cycle, but you will not be billed again after cancellation. A cancellation does not automatically reverse a charge that has already been processed.
During your call with our representative Steve, he confirmed the account was successfully canceled and issued a reversal of the pending charge. Please allow 3–5 business days for the refund to reflect, depending on your financial institution.

I was unhappy with the fact that the very thing I signed up to find out was about someone's marriage, which I know for a fact to be a reality. However, you could not find any information whatsoever on this. The rest, for the most part, I could have found out without paying for it. However, five stars for your customer service. She was very helpful in cancelling the account.

Signed on to gather info about 2relatives we’ve lost touch with. I learned more from fastpeople.com than from your reports. Your reports were incomplete, incorrect and impossible to navigate. We learned NOTHING and have cancelled the subscription immediately. Your automated system for cancelling kept cutting me off so I had to call today to speak to a rep. Whole experience was frustrating.

FIVE STARS FOR HER However, I do not care for the internet tactics that were used to get my business. I specifically queried Military Records for my deceased father. Not what I expected. I was primarily looking for contact information. What I got was dated but useful to research more on the internet. I finally found what I needed on Google. It was expensive and additional fees were required, for example, to download a PDF.

I used this service once and assumed the $30 charge was a one-time fee. Instead, I’ve been charged every month for over a year—even though I never used it again. When I finally noticed and asked for a refund, customer service said they could only credit two months. That’s unacceptable. They can clearly see I only logged in once, yet they continue billing without permission. This feels like deceptive business practice—closer to highway robbery than customer care. I am furious and extremely disappointed.

Not helpful at all. Website was very tedious and cumbersome. Slow response time and once it was done processing a request the information provided was not what was requested, but would attempt to get you to make more inquiries. Fees were misleading and billing questionable.

A complete waste of my time. I rejected the first offer for my report. Then you sent me an email with an over 50% offer which I accept. As the transaction was being processed your app wouldn’t allow me to use my/the email address I used during the create account process. It said the email was already in use. At this time my account is canceled and at no time was I able to download a copy of my personal background info. Thank you for wasting my valuable time. I earn $50 per hour, this process wasted 2 hours of my time. Please forward payment in the amount of $100 to the address used to create my account. Regards.

While I was on vacation--going to college reunion way out of state-- Checkmate charged several items, forcing me to pay fees thru Aug. "Since 7/31 debit as well as 7/4 debit both in July) on statement" for an idle search "out of curiosity" to check on college friends before our reunion. Surprise! No records available--total lie. You charged me anyway.

I used your service in July to find a childhood / young adult friend. Your results were missing the most important piece of data; she had passed away in 2015. I had to contact her relative to find out this information. Also, I thought I had only subscribed to 1 month in July, yet I noticed a recurring charge on my checking account in August. I am awaiting email confirmation that this has been successfully completed and a refund will be processed for the August charges.

This site is worthless. It is a total scam. I found more information online for free than this worthless site found! Do not use them. The site couldn't even find arrests and social media accounts that I found on my own.

I was searching for a marriage certificate which Checkmate notes in their search. I paid the fee. The search provides a lot but not what I needed most, the marriage certificate. It does state that their database uploads every 24 hours, so I will check daily.

Tried Instant Checkmate to run a quick background check and was pretty impressed! The report came through fast with solid details like addresses and records, which helped me feel more confident about a new business contact. Price is a bit steep, but it’s worth it for the ease and thoroughness. Just wish the interface was a tad smoother. Great overall!

Absolutely no new information was gained from using your service. Very , v-e-r-y disapoointing )))))); Moreover, some of your content was wrong, not just incomplete. For example, the individual I searched has been married for over 10 years, yet you didn't show public record of said marriage even though it was performed locally!!! VERY POOR SERVICE.
