I placed an order online on July 17. I received confirmation for the order and on July 18 received a notice that 3 of the 4 items had shipped with an expected delivery date of July 23. The next schedule of events is a little lengthy so please bear with me. July 19- left Fedex in Concord, NC and later that day was received at Fedex in Martinsburg, WV. No more tracking info until accepted at postal facility in Stephens City, VA on July 22. 2 hours later- "delivery exception, rerouted to correct delivery address". July 23 shipment info sent to US Postal service. July 23 left Fedex in Martinsburg, WV AGAIN!!! July 23 in transit to Postal Service in Front Royal, VA- which is 10 miles from my house and where any mail to me ships from to our small city post office. Good- right? NOOOOO!!!! At 2:42pm on July 23, there's a new tracking post- In transit to Greensboro, NC!!!
So I called customer service at approx 6:30pm to see why my package was travelling all over 3 states and still couldn't get to me. (Oh- and might I add that the 4th item in my shipment shipped AFTER this package and got to me on July 20?) All customer service could tell me was that it was still scheduled for delivery that day and since the day wasn't over yet, they couldn't do anything. So my logical question was -Ok- 2 things. Is it coming from Fedex or the postal service since both were on the tracking info? They didn't know. Next, if it doesn't come July 23 (which at 630pm I was pretty sure it wouldn't) how do I go about finding out where it is and when it will arrive at my house? The answer I got was that they couldn't do anything until the carrier marked it as delivered and I did not get it.
I wasn't asking for a refund or for them to reissue it- just to help me find out where it was but NOPE!! I asked to speak to a supervisor, was put on hold for SEVERAL minutes (I think she thought I would hang up but at that point that wasn't going to happen) and she basically told me the same thing that the customer service rep said. As I told her - not that she seemed to care- I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN!!!!

I've shopped at Belk since I was a child and have had a Belk Rewards card for many years. A couple of years ago, I decided to start paying all of my bills online to save paper and money needed for stamps. This has worked out great for me, and I always pay my bills on time, usually through auto payments. I don't shop at Belk every month, and I hadn't noticed that a year had gone by since I last shopped and paid a bill for Belk. But I bought something in May and again in June. Today, I was completely shocked to receive my July electronic bill saying that I was late on paying the June bill, and I was charged interest and a $25 late fee! But I never received a June bill! I checked through my spam and trash, and nothing was there. I receive emails from Belk several times a week announcing sales, so why didn't they send me a bill?
I called and talked to a nice customer service representative, who explained that if you don't use your account for an extended time, they will stop sending electronic bills, So, in my case, I didn't get a bill until I was overdue. I didn't feel this was right -- how am I supposed to pay a bill if I don't receive it? Other companies don't do business this way. She put me on hold, then came back and said she would have the $25 fee waived, but there was nothing she could do to prevent this from happening again in the future, except I could launch a complaint, which I did to her on the phone, and I'm writing it here. She also said even if I used auto payments (which I do on many bills), there would be the same problem -- if the card isn't used for an extended period, it would affect the auto payments, so a card might not get paid automatically.
There is a software glitch with this payment program, and someone in the IT department needs to address this issue. Customers should receive bills EVERY month when there is a payment due, whether or not the card has been used recently. I don't want to cancel my Belk card because I like our local store, and I like the coupons I receive online. But I did go ahead and cancel two other department store cards that I hardly ever use, thinking they might have the same policy. Just be careful with paperless billing...unless this issue is addressed on the software end, there will be many more people like me unhappily surprised that they are "late" on a bill they never received.

I purchased a pair of shoes on the Belk website. When they arrived, I was surprised that there were two left shoes in the box. I immediately called customer service. They sent me a FedEx label to ship the shoes back. However, when I received an email that the return had been received, they only refunded the price of the shoes. I was not refunded the $9.00 it cost me to have them shipped to my house. I called customer service and they said they don't refund shipping. I still can't believe they made a huge error on the order and they still expect me to pay shipping. I'm very disappointed and won't be shopping at Belk anymore.

I visited Belk in Little Rock for a pair of Hue leggings, priced 34.00. The clerk scanned them for $36.00 plus tax. When I pointed out the discrepancy, she said,"Belk does that. It's not my fault." I paid, but I really should not have completed the transaction. Belk needs to be more honest in marking prices. I won't shop there again.

I had a $100 gift card to Belk and had my eye on a watch which they were offering. They have it priced at $235. Unfortunately, other sites have it priced at $114 to $121. Even using my $100 gift card, it would cost me more than the other sites.

Returned 5-items via FedEx. FedEx tracking confirmed that they received my returned items May 2nd. I started calling on Monday looking for my refund— lots of run around from customer service... Their suggestion call back in a couple of days— called back — more run around— still not even ‘checked in’. This is a scam! Yesterday (after 8-days) I finally spoke with a rep who ‘push-it’ through. Why couldn’t they have done that on Monday? Now they’re telling me that I will have to wait another 5-days for my money—- I think it’s their plan to keep your money-hoping you don’t follow-up on your return. With this botched transaction they’ve LOST a customer.

I had to return some valances that I ordered because I needed one more, and they were out of stock, with no info in regards to if they would be getting more product in. I was stuck paying for return shipping, which was very disappointing. Then when I called today to see why I haven't received my refund, the representative couldn't even find my return. According to my tracking #, Belk received my return on May 1st. So the representative said she would forward my info to corporate and I would hear back from them in 72 hrs, so who knows when I'll actually see my refund!!
And the best part is, when my conversation with the representative was complete, she did not realize that we hadn't been disconnected and she proceeded to laugh with another co-worker about "how heated I was." Ummmm Ma'am, you'd be a bit heated too if your issue wasn't being taken seriously!! I was nothing but polite with her and that's her reaction to a customer?!? So disrespectful!! My best advice, if you are going to make a purchase online @ Belk.com, make sure you're planning on keeping it, because their return process is a joke!!

Went to the Men's dept to buy a few clothes. There were two young clerks in the dept. They were not helping anyone, but I am used to poor service at malls. A woman walking through actually directed me. The merchandise was all over the racks and on the floor, but I found a few pants and shirts I wanted. None were on sale, I do not really care about sales. I took them to the unmanned register and waited. And waited. And waited. I thought the clerks might be helping others, so I did not expect fast, but no one ever showed up. There were a number of other customers trying to make purchases. I finally dropped everything on a rack and left, telling the woman on the way out that it is very difficult to buy something at Belk's. After twenty five years of their big drama checkout routines, and the new garage sale decor, I am done with them. Life is too short.

Very sad at the loss of our once Southern classic store. This store is now dreadful. We went in today to buy two summer suits, some updated ties, and several dress shirts for my husband. The dress shirts and ties were wadded, thrown, in the floor, upside down and hanging from the tables... Who wants to dig through a garage sale stack to pay retail for a Ralph Lauren shirt? It was so bad that I started cleaning up myself! I pulled two suits, several shirts and ties and placed them on the counter. I helped my husband select 3 or 4 different outfits. Another gentleman approached us and asked me for help for items for a wedding!!!! Then a lady asked me to help her with a graduation outfit for her son! At no time, did any of us see an employee.
As we collected our things to find someone to pay, a lady said "Can I help you?" And I actually laughed. She rang us up and then another woman appeared to ring up the others, whom I assisted, we jokingly asked if I would get a commission. One of the suits was on a rack marked $49.99. Assuming the pants and jacket since half of the rack was these suits... The lady begrudgingly had to give us the price since the rack was marked incorrectly and she became more rude stating that "Those jackets are never that price". Like anyone would know?! The prices are never as marked in this store!!!
The store is messy, the sales staff is rude and will not help, the shoes are crap, (shoe salespersons walk around you), the brands are cheap, made in China garbage, the credit card company is not worth dealing with... So sad to say goodbye to a once true southern classic department store with charm. :( Whoever purchased this wonderful place has destroyed the one and only store we had here. Guess I will be headed to Macy's. ;((

Previously Belk.com was a very decent place to shop however of late that is no longer the case. Recent order placed online totaling $230.59 was just sitting and not processing and had sent numerous e-mails and online web site contact forms which were totally ignored so after calling was told BELK.com uses the useless inept lame order screening process which CANCELS orders for no valid reason. Another business that apparently does not want any future business or does not need any future business either. Go elsewhere to shop and do not bother with BELK.com who could care less if a customer gets online orders processed in a timely manner and fashion. G. 04/09/2019 @ 7:07 PM EDT

Belk has always been my favorite store. No matter the location everyone is always so cheerful and helpful and the selection is always so great and of wide variety. My size is an 11 in pants and a LG in tops and I always find something in my size that looks great and I ALWAYS save tons of money. I even order online some and have never had to send a thing back it came on time and was just as advertised. Belk has constant sales and other opportunities to save money. I buy more than clothes at BELK and never have I had a problem. I am so glad I have 2 nearby! This day and time it is hard to find decent clothing that fits my personality and my budget and Belk never ceases to amaze me!

My review is not about a bad experience. It is about the appearance of the store itself in Albany, GA. I don't know what's happened and I don't know if all Belk's stores are like the way this one has become. This was once a beautiful, classy store and now it looks like a drab flea market. Clothes are all jammed up and it gives the appearance of another discount clothing store or flea market with much higher prices. Please send someone with authority to look it over and clean it up and make it the beautiful store it once was.

Want to pay more than you actually owe? Due to the hassle packed & highly disorganized, frequently unable to find answers & especially new card holder payment online "payment services" (which are outsourced, to a 3rd party). You practically need a graduate degree in Research & Finance to have the patience it requires. I'm SO glad it's paid off and I can now shred this card- never to use again!

I am about to check out just as I finished stacking up my order, before I clicked place order (step 1 before billing) my credit card company prompted via SMS that I was charged with $108, the cost of all the products. Btw, my payment method was saved in their account. Since there was no confirmation by Belk, I thought it was just a glitch so I tried clicking "place order" again, then I was sent with an SMS AGAIN. Checked my order history, no orders whatsoever. I contacted them and told me that there's nothing to worry about because payment will not go through unless they ship my order.
Then, my credit card was temporarily put on hold by my bank. Called them up and they said that BELK.COM was trying to charge me SEVEN TIMES!!! But my bank won't let them go through and rejected them because of unauthorized activity! Crazy! My bank told me to deactivate my credit card and change to a new one because they worry that BELK will charge me as my details are already with them... which I did. I had to deactivate my credit card and get and pay for a new one. Because of you. I wish this shop will just stop scamming their customers and excuse themselves for technical errors or whatever excuse you find. Hope you stop charging people for something they have not ordered yet! You guys are the worst!

I have been using Estee Lauder products for many years and would like to try samples of some of the newer moisturizers, eye creams, and primers. I am very dissatisfied with their rudeness and unwillingness to help you with their products. May have to switch dept stores or switch makeup brands...

I was unable to login my Belk Premier Account through Synchrony Bank and was told there was a technical problem with my account. I called and was told my account had been closed and was told it was reported lost. Later I was told it was reported as fraudulent by me 3 days ago and I made no such call. They also added under a fraud close a new card could not be issued. They would not tell me if I would still be qualified for the 10% off groceries and gas they were running as a promotion for 3 months and I had used the card more frequently specifically for that reason.
Synchrony must hire the rudest and most unfriendly and uncaring customer service. They would not look further into the matter and just said to re-apply for a new card. This will most likely affect my credit score as well. I would stay away from cards that are backed by Synchrony Bank. I had worked my card up to Premier MasterCard rewards and had never since the card had been opened with a late payment, always on time or early.

I called customer service and they said, "This order can’t be canceled and return the item once received." "What about my shipping charges and returned shipping charges?" There is no answer for that. After two bad experiences shopping on Belk.com, I am officially no longer a Belk customer. First, I ordered a fancy laundry hamper about 6 months ago. It took a few weeks to arrive, thrown into a too-large box with no packaging, dirty and broken. I took it to the store where they were so amazed by its condition that a little group of employees gathered around to see. Nevertheless, they insisted that I ship it back at my own expense. No apologies, very unfriendly about the whole thing.
A few months later, I ordered a throw for Christmas for in-store pick-up. My fault that I missed the pick-up notice--it was in my Gmail "promotions" folder (which I rarely check). But the issue was that they charged me for it, despite a policy that customers aren't charged for merchandise they don't pick up. It took two painful months of repeated calls, chats, and emails to get a refund. They eventually admitted it was their error, but only after insisting that I was mistaken and being downright surly at times. I have been a lifetime customer, spent tens of thousands of dollars in that store, and they just lost me over a $38 throw. Go to Macy's!

I order a product from Belk.com and they sent me a similar but different product. The first time this happened I returned the item to a store because they want you to pay shipping to return by mail (even though it was their mistake). I reordered the item online and was again sent the same wrong item. I called their customer service back twice (first time got disconnected and rep never attempted to call me back even though she took down my contact info at beginning of call). I held for 40 minutes when I called back only to get an incompetent employee who could not help me at all or advise me what to do. He told me to give them 5 business days to research the matter and they would be back in touch with me. Guess what? They never got back in touch with me!
Also they never once apologized for the multiple errors or inconvenience (service reps or in store reps). Worst customer service I have experienced in a while! Lastly when I went online to leave a review on the product so that other customers didn't order it and have the same misfortune that I did, I submitted a review. Guess what? Belk refused to publish my review. Shame on you Belk!! You have lost a long time loyal customer. Buyers beware!!!

I ordered my elderly father-in-law a shirt for Christmas - placing the order on December 15th. I received an email on the 20th saying the shirt was on its way then I got another email saying the order was delayed until December 28th. I contacted Belk and asked them to cancel the order. They claimed that the delay was not a back order but was a shipping delay but refused to explain what that meant. (Two weeks to ship?) I had another shirt on Amazon delivered for Christmas and the Belk shirt just showed up. I am not asking my elderly relative to return this shirt so I guess I will fight them on my credit card now.

Belk closed my Mom's card (customer for 15 years) due to not enough activity. She spends over $1000 or greater there a year and had a credit limit of $2500. She is 78 and has plenty of experience with Belk and with other creditors. She closed her account for good and will be going to Dillard’s.
We both went to the South Park store November 26th. We shop at the higher end section. No one greeted us, asked if they could help us in the following areas: High end shoe section, Ralph Lauren, Michal Kors, Free People. Mercedes in the shoe section perpendicular to the high-end area DID ask if she could assist. We gave her all our shoes, and clothing sales. Between the 3 of us, she got over $1000 is sales. These store associates used to be FANTASTIC, not anymore. The new owners have made sure of that... No one is happy, including their customers. Headed to Dillard’s to open an account.

I ordered an item that I was excited to have on my coffee bar for Christmas, I had bought some other matching piece that came fine but this one item kept coming broken. Every time I would call the minute I opened it and all Belk would do would send me a new one. That was fine after the first time but by the 4th time it was a little ridiculous! Not once were they sorry for the inconvenience. No refund of my money - nothing - just want to keep shipping me the same item.
I had asked that they pack it better as the reason it was breaking was it had no packing, nothing on it saying Fragile. I asked it be checked and signed off before left warehouse to make sure it was not leaving there like that. Nothing - kept showing up in a thin box with no packing around it. At the end of the day I am really disappointed as I did not want my MONEY back. I wanted the ITEM I ORDERED! I finally told them, "No more. Refund my money. I am done. This has been 4 times!" Just the lack of care in shipping and to even make it right with the customer is what is disappointing. We will see how hard now it is to get my money back as now I am told it has to be reviewed by supervisors and if I don't hear anything in a week to call back?!?! REALLY!!! For at least the last year Belk has not honored their coupons. Not one coupon has been honored that I have tried to use. I picked an item with a "Bonus Buy" sign so my coupons are worthless. Who does not shop for Bonus Buys! That is what we do...and then plan our expenses making sure we have the coupons to help. So if you spend $300 dollars you may receive $60 in Belk bucks but have to spend another $300 to redeem them, ridiculous and worthless.

I purchased a Micheal Kors handbag on 11/14/18, 3 in stock at time of purchase. It has been 7 days and now Belk claims it is on backorder. They claim there is a 10-day wait on all back ordered purchases (per policy), which isn't found in the Belk online policy. Problem is you (the consumer) don't know it's back ordered until after you purchase an "in stock" item that Belk happens not to have. The Belk customer service number is a 3rd party "unaffiliated" organization. They make up policies that don't exist and argue with the consumer. What did arrive in my email, a full week later, was a notice that my order had been cancelled. No explanation, no timeline for when I could expect my money to be refunded, just a number for me to call with questions. Oh, yes I did call that number! I was told that the boots were out of stock...then why was I allowed to pay for them?!
The customer service person had no idea when I would receive a refund and was generally clueless about the entire situation. I had to be the one to inform the person that it plainly states that Belk does not take money from my account until the item actually ships, yet they took money from my account. Long story short, I did get the money back, but not before I waited 2 weeks. During the time this was all going on, I placed another order with Belk. 14 days. The argument is that even though my name is on the account he was the primary. After talking to 3 different people, one a supervisor, the issue is unresolved. In the end I told them I would shred the check, to close the account, do not open a new account in my name, as I no longer wish to do business with them.

I ordered 3 times from Belk. The first time, I got a color variation of what I ordered. Not the correct color but the correct item. I returned it. The second time, I got another variation of what I ordered. Not correct but similar. Returned it. The third time, I must have received someone else’s previously returned merchandise. It was a white shirt with either chocolate splatter or blood splatter on the front of the shirt. There was another greenish stain that someone had tried to blot out. It was faded but the fabric was stiff and bumpy over the greenish stain. What’s wrong with these people? Does Belk just not care about their reputation?

A couple of months ago we were given a new Belk credit card, apparently Belk moved their CC processing from Visa to MC. During the transition we were sent a monthly bill where we owed about $200. Being someone who doesn't like to have outstanding credit card balances I went ahead and paid the full amount due about 2 weeks prior to the due date. Well, the payment was posted to the older account (the one tied to the older credit card). In the meantime we are getting letters and notices from the underlying bank (Synchrony Bank) stating we are past due!
We have spoken with Belk 4 times and they refuse to move the money from one account to the other! All they say is that it is a process that may take 30 days! This situation is totally unbelievable! The issue can be fixed with a click of the keyboard! We are totally disgusted with Belk. I wrote their CFO yesterday asking if he could get this done. We will never shop at Belk again! They were bought out recently by a private equity firm out of NY. They are having a difficult time and I can see why! The way they treat their customers is disgusting! Instead of correcting the posting of our payment they would rather see our credit impacted by some bank they scooped up to handle their cards. Don't deal with these people! They could care less about customer relations. Just don't do it. Let them know that without respect for the customer they are history.

The problem is it takes 3-5 days to get the preauthorization back in your account so in actuality you are being billed twice and then credited back. Make sure you have enough money in your account!!!

I had the same experience as a customer below for billing me twice, then it took 5 days and two phone calls to get it off my account. Second, their return policy is crap if THEY DO send the wrong items, or you simply need to return. This is not a company that can survive in the internet shopping age. Ordered two shirts. They billed me multiple times for the same two items. They sent the wrong item. They did refund my ship charges and sent a return label but after having the two items in their possession for weeks now, I do not have a refund for the shirts. Ordered two shirts on the website. They billed me once, they billed me twice, they billed me a third time I called to complain. They fixed it and instead billed me for half the order twice, once for $42.85, once for $42.84. They sent me a package, it did not have the item pictured on their website. I was a little pissed. Got a nice supervisor who refunded my $24.95 for expedited shipping (because they shipped the wrong shirts) and then sent me a mailing label to my email so I could return the shirts without paying to return the incorrect item.
And by this time, I was done with Belks so I sent the items back and it has been weeks, when I called several weeks ago I got one story, then I called the next week, I got another story, when I called earlier this week and spoke to a VERY, VERY young sounding man who was not able to help me because I was upset and I was not polite enough for him. I called tonight to be told they sent me two more shirts (oh, really, and on what planet did they think I wanted two more shirts) and so they are not refunding my money because I have two new shirts... let me make this perfectly clear... I DID NOT RECEIVE ANOTHER PACKAGE FROM BELKS, I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER PACKAGE FROM BELKS, I do not want anything from belks except my money back.
It has been weeks & weeks & weeks. It's $60, they can't possibly need my money that badly. I want my money back. Their people are inept, slow, great at giving lip service and hope you just go away. I saw that there were several reports of problems with orders from the Belk.com website, but thought the experience would be better if I ordered from the website and picked it up at the local Belk store. This saved both shipping and the time I would have spent hunting down the item in the store. At first, I thought this would be easy. I received a confirmation email; and later, the email that my purchase was ready for pickup. When I arrived at Belk, I asked the woman at customer service where to go. She thought the pickup desk was on the third floor, but when I said that most stores have pickup close to an entrance, she called and found that it was, indeed near one of the other entrances.
I went to the designated spot, and there it was: a desk with a large sign that said Online Order Pickup but there was nobody there. I waited a while, and then sat on a nearby chair, prepared to snag any Belk associate who ventured near. It never happened. I finally called the store. The desk had no extension, so I tried calling a manager. No answer. I left a message to send someone to Online Pickup. Finally, I decided that the only option was find my purchase myself. I did find it on a shelf with other pickup items in an area in the back where I probably should not have been. I took the bag with my name on it and left the store. The next day, I received an email that my order had been picked up. I wonder how they thought that happened.

The clerk, who was very kind but her ability to assist me was greatly restricted by company policy. I went to my car, called customer service and 48 minutes later they finally figured out what I owed and wanted me to pay them $10.00 to pay them!
I left a credit balance on my card to cover the cost of the items I had reordered and closed my card. Belk then decided to cancel my order. I called customer service for a refund and was transferred to Synchrony Bank. They do not allow you to speak and will not return your credit to the credit card you paid your bill with 'because they can't credit a card that is closed'! WHAT? Bottom line, they are mailing me a check which I should receive in 5 to 15 business days! The online experience was horrible because as I was trying to check out I kept getting messages that some items in my cart were no longer available. Knowing how amazing this sale was I wasn't surprised that things were selling out so fast so I was understanding and kept going through the process and updating my cart. After finally getting everything straight and assuring that all the items in my cart were still available, I finished the checkout process and got the email confirming my order. After a week of not receiving my packages I check online just to find that my order had been cancelled.
I call customer service to find out the reason for the cancellation and was advised that the items were out of stock. If said items were out of stock then they shouldn't have been sold to me. I ordered 12 or 13 pair of shoes and EVERY SINGLE PAIR was out of stock?! Additionally, only after calling customer service did I receive emails advising me of the cancellation. Upon reading these reviews I see that several others had a similar experience and were given various different excuses than what I'd received. Extremely disappointed in Belk. A couple of pair I ordered was sold out so I immediately got an email after I place order and said they were out but I still had several pair that was being processed for delivery. A week went by so I call Belk. They tell me oh a shipping label has been created and I should receive my boots this week. I talked to several customer service on the days before and they all have had several stories as to why my boots were running late on shipping. Today I got cancelation notices on every pair I ordered. They said it was a system glitch and they could not sell those boots at that price! This isn’t the first time or the second time that this has happened. THEY DO NOT WANT TO HONOR THEIR PRICES!!!

I went online to check order and said cancelled. So I called customer service and was given 2 different excuses as why the order was cancelled. 1 They’re not available (they were when I ordered them). 2 It was a site error (yea maybe you disproved them). Then I was offered a $20 credit and 20% off next order (No thanks. Don't like how you do business) then asked to speak to supervisor. She said the vendor cancelled their order. Ok? Which one is it told her seems like your company just wanted a bunch of people’s information and credit card #s.
She then said she would have a senior supervisor contact me within 24 hr. Waited no one called. I called back and was supposedly connected to senior supervisor which was extremely rude. He told me no one was getting their boots. All orders was cancelled. Asked to speak to his supervisor. He said I would have to call corporate & hung up on me. Didn't give me the number or anything. So called them still waiting for a response back. They had pulled all the boots offline but now they are starting to show back up at a lot higher price. They just don't want to honor their price. After having a Belk Rewards Card for several years and receiving statements in the mail every month Belk changed my account to paperless billing without asking or receiving confirmation that I had been notified of the this change. For the first time ever I was late on paying my balance because I count on receiving the statement to know when I have a balance. I do not use or make purchases on the Belk Rewards card every month and when you have no balance they do not send you a statement therefore I assumed I had no balance that month when I didn't receive a statement. I do not read all the emails because your email inbox is always bombarded with ads for sales and such but just happened to read one stating my account was past due. When I tried calling customer service to speak to someone all you get is an automated answering service that never allows you to request to speak to a person.
To me this is very poor customer service. When I told the automated answering service that I wanted to cancel my Belk Rewards Card I was sure that a person would come on the line to inquire why. Nope. This was all done through an automated process as well. This speaks volumes about this company and how they feel about their customers. Since the company was taken over by Sycamore Partners Equity Firm, Belk is no longer a family friendly family run company. It's just another big corporation out to make as much money in as short a period of time as it can and then will probably be closing up the doors like Kmart, Roses, and JC Penney. The saleswoman ordered the ring and had it sent to my home. I'm assuming this allowed her a commission versus me purchasing online from home. The ring arrived and the stone & ring was larger than I am comfortable with. I saved all the paperwork, original box, tag, etc. and went back to the store within two weeks of purchase. Was expecting to return ring & credit my Belk card. I was told there was another tiny light blue tag attached to the ring with small print "cannot be returned without this tag" (he showed me one from another piece of jewelry on display). I returned home to look in my house and could not locate the tag. I am not even sure it came with tag. I only remember a white tag.
Now I am stuck with the ring I do not like. If this is their policy they should have a large warning on the jewelry box itself. The ring box was shipped in a much larger box. The item was still available online, etc. Lesson learned and will not purchase again. I understand they are trying to prevent fraud, etc but a tiny little tag- and I'm not even certain came with the ring. Again, I had all the other original tags. Why would I have not saved it. Thanks.

It all began when I was with a friend, I found a really pretty dress and it was $100. With the discount the card offered me I paid $51. So, the first month payment goes around, I paid $25 the 24th. The second month comes around for the next payment of $25 which is nearly my complete purchase. Then I read it says another late fee. I was on time paying it. I called and the late fee got lifted. Then the third month comes around, I get another late fee third time. I get a late fee when I've been paying on time but this time it came with a letter saying "Because I was not paying my payments on time, my spending privileges will be discontinued."
I called customer service. At this rate, my balance was over $100. I asked "Why in the world am I getting charged late fees when I'm not late at all?" The nice gentleman who dealt with me told me that it could be my account and to give him the information and try a payment to see if it goes through. It did. It was a very same info I did on the last two. So, on top of having to pay 49$ by tomorrow while I already paid 37$ to get back my spending privileges at Belk. All of this over a $51 dress, I am spending money that I'm not even using on the card but no clothes a show for it.
I advise anyone who like having money in their account to not get a belk card. This system is flawed will mess up your account number. You'll be stuck like me paying $200 over a $51 dress due to their lack of automated system a processing payments to dodge a $10 fee with a customer service agent, when really it shouldn't be charged to talk to a person for a payment.

I went to the Mall of Georgia - Buford, GA. today shopping for booties. After walking the entire mall, I came back to Belk to make my purchase (the booties I had found wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but I decided to buy anyway). While looking one last time I found a pair of Lucky Brand just like I wanted that had been misplaced. Excited, I tried them on and they fit perfectly, but there was damage to one boot.
I ask the customer service lady about an extra discount and she said she'd have to check, 15 mins. later, I'm still waiting for her to return. I finally decided to just go ahead and pay for them, when another customer service person comes to the counter and ask if everyone was being waited on, I was at the counter, next in line and she starts with the person behind me!!! Completely ignoring the fact that I'm standing right there!!! So, I put the boots on the counter and walked out, enough is enough. Belk has always been my favorite go to place, not so sure after today. And one more thing, I drove 60+ miles one way to get to this store!!!

I placed an online order for a total of $67.54 on 1/1/2017. I purchased the items using my Visa charge card. My charge card account immediately showed the pending transaction for my purchase. However, I just saw that today Belk had placed another pending transaction for $30.50. I thought it was a fraud issue. However, before disputing the charge I sent a chat request to Belk.
I explained the situation and received a response from Harley. She said that once the items ship I will be refunded the second pending charge for $30.50. I wanted to know why this would ever be their process. They have held the purchase amount of $67.54. When I tried to get a better explanation she responded with "Like I said you will get the second chargeback." It is a horrible practice. They would just make up some amount and take other charges from my account. I will never ever order from Belk again. I wonder what happens if someone never realizes they just go in and hold additional funds. The "canned" responses from Harley made it obvious they receive a lot of complaints about this. I have never given a review for any experience or item purchased. But I would not want someone to have this same horrible experience.

I went in to make a purchase using a gift card and my debit card. The associate lacked the knowledge to perform the transaction. She tried to perform the transaction and ran the gift card through and when it came to me using the debit card she did not know how to do both, so she voided the transaction and tried to perform again. It didn't work. So she call the card company and found out the transaction is pending in Belk's system and there's nothing anyone can do about it until the funds are released to be returned to the card, that's if the transaction was actually voided. I would have to wait up to 7 days to see if the money is returned to the card.
The associate asked me if I would like to use my debit card to continue with the purchase as if I would after dealing the whole ordeal for at least an hour. I would not give them one more dime! I then had to request some type of proof that the transaction was cancelled, couldn't trust their word. Very disappointed with service!!!

I have shopped Belk's ever since they opened in McKinney. Up to this time, it has been a delightful experience. The new manager has totally ruined the Petite Department. It is the petite section and everything is so high that it is impossible to locate or shop the clothing. We are not 6 ft. high or we would not be in the petite section. It is a big mess as nothing is put together and my fellow shoppers all agreed that the store has lost so much character that we have enjoyed in the past. I am so sorry you have let this store go as think you will lose a good deal of business. There are other stores but hate to see Belk lose out and become Wal-Mart type of store.

This Christmas I decided the bulk of my shopping online. I also decided not to use a single credit card and pay interest to Capital One or Amex etc. I used my bank debit card and made a purchase on Black Friday and it purchased and shipped just fine. Two weeks later an additional order that I placed on Belk.com was a simple and easy proccess; so I thought. I see the hold on my bank account for the 120 dollars and think no problem. I then get an shipping notice about 48 hours later and the next day I see an additional pending charge for 120 dollars. I call customer service and get the same answer that it seems many other shopper have gotten. The whole double hold/ship thing. It happy about it but no major deal; I'm not Bill Gates but I have extra money I keep as a cushion on credit cards should I need them.
I was told by some rep who was in a super hurry to get off the phone that one item was going to ship later and that I would only be charged for 105 and they would charge me for the last item when it ships. So the holds fall off and a 105 dollars clear my account. I wake up this am and I have another 120 dollar hold on my account. I call customer service and I get the same runaround that they must read from a script and per the customer service rep this was normal, ahh it was my banks fault not Belk's, and it's Saturday so no manger is available to speak with me. I guess she ran out of script because all she could say was to read the terms and condition on the website.
Then my wife got involved and called up there. She is real sweetheart but she only had two settings. Sweetheart or Mrs. Hyde, wow she got to a manager in less than 45 seconds. He kelp telling us it was only a temp hold and I would only be charged when the item shipped. That they have no record of the "duplicate hold" and that it was the bank that placed the hold. Well that's where they stepping the landmine. He was adamant that I had been charged for anything yet. It would have the above mentioned actual charge of 104ish and then be charged for the last item when it arrives. But that they had not charged me anything? Newsflash: I can see the actual debit for 103 and some cents. He told her that couldn't be possible as the items had not shipped. Too bad I couldn't FaceTime him because I have the box of shipped items in my hand.
So then he reversed his position and said it all has to do with my bank's policy and procedure and I should contact them. Easy enough my wife is an OFAC analyst at the bank we use. She made it rather clear and simple that it's not a bank's policy to randomly drive out money unless requested and if the bank was having an issue with double posting she would have to be at work in the Data Center on a Saturday am trying to fix problems. It ended with him giving us the last item that was waiting to ship at no charge. That he would send it "up to cooperate" yada yada yada. Thanks for the offer but I don't want a free 17dollar sweater. I just want to ensure that I'm not gonna going to continue to get multiple charges. I'm buying the clothes not renting them. So I'm not going to rant and get all pissed off.
My solution is simple I speak with my money and I'll not shop there again online or in store. I seriously doubt Belk's will miss my business but it's the principle of the matter. We have a Belk's Men's Store at one of the malls and I like shopping there. Oh well!!! As a side note something similar happens about 15 years ago with GM and an very inexpensive part. They got to keep the 45 dollars or so but seven new car purchases between my wife and I over the past fifteen years. Not a single one is a GM product. I refuse to own one. I'm sure GM doesn't miss me but over a 45 dollar part I have enjoyed the F150s, Volkswagens, and Mustangs I've bought. Now that I'm getting ready for my midlife crisis I would love to buy one of the new Camaro's but I can get a decent Porsche for a little more.

I had ordered two pairs of boots online to find that I had been double-charged for my purchase as one of these charges was an account hold. So basically, if you plan to order anything online, plan on paying double right away and the waiting 5-7 business days to get the double payment back in your bank account. I paid about $60, but was charged $120. Ridiculous. So I call customer service wanting to just cancel my order, and the man said you can only cancel your order an hour after it's been made or when you receive the products. You should be able to cancel an order at any time for any reason. In the meantime, I'll be double-charged for items I don't have yet, and I'll be waiting almost a week until I get MY money back that they used as an account hold. I wouldn't recommend shopping online, unless you're okay with being double-charged and unexpectedly being out of money you thought you had.
UPDATED ON 12/13/2016: If you decide to return something, you can expect to wait up to a month to see your money back in your bank account. I returned one of the two items I purchased on Belk, brought my box to a FedEx location shortly after receiving the item. It only took three days for the package to get where it needed to go, but found out that it can take up 15 days for the return to processed and to see the money in your bank account. 15 DAYS. All in all, it took at least a month from the date of purchase to the date I got the money back in my bank account.

My son got off the stroller and got under the rack for maybe 30 seconds. The employee hilar at him in a very rude voice to move from there. Then not even one minute later he did the same thing but this time this lady run towards him and grabbed him from his hand. At that moment my first reaction was to grabbed her arm and pull her away from my son. He was crying badly. I couldn't even continue shopping so I went ahead and paid for my items and left.

I bought several items from Belk. Two identical pair of pants were marked the same size but one was significantly smaller. I have to pay to return the pants. One rep told me that I can't return multiple orders in the same package so returns would be expensive. If you buy something and it comes on sale, you only have 10 days to "price match" or you are stuck with the higher price. Of course, this is not written on the online store information anywhere. I called and was a few days short and they would only give me 10% off, although the pants that I had already bought were reduced 50%.
I found the entire experience to be labor intensive and expensive given returns. Some customer service reps were rude. (Some not). I will not be buying from Belks again. I asked another lady that walked by if she could help me. She said that was not her department.

This was also debited from my checking account Saturday as soon as my order was placed. I called Belk in a few seconds to tell them I had only ordered one of each purse and I also told them the total wrong amount had been debited from my account even on a Saturday. The man I talked to said that was just a hold even though the hold as he said was already showing as a debit. I told him the amount was wrong he said not to worry the amount would drop off and the real amount would be shown as soon as the order shipped.
As of today Monday the 151.89 is still showing as a debit and my merchandise has not shipped. The amount should be 124.55 and that amount isn't showing the 151.89 is. When Belk tells you your account IS NOT debited until your order ships its a lie. The HOLD as they say is the same as a debit because that amount THEY sent to your bank even the wrong amount has that amount on HOLD and that means even though they told you your checking would not be debited until your items are shipped they have a HOLD on that amount on your account so you can't use that amount of money anyway.
This is to me a lie that Belk tells to everyone ordering on line. It wouldn't matter as much to me if they debited/held if it was the right amount and it wasn't. You get a different customer service person every time and I just got tired of repeating and being told "it is just a hold". If the order amount is FROZEN what difference is it?? If someone didn't have the extra to cover Belk's mistake and you were overdrawn what would Belk do then?? Nothing.

I placed an order yesterday from Belk.com. My order came up to $188 and some odd cents. Look at my bank account and the funds were held. Ok, so far, so good. Today I received an email saying my items had been shipped, but they were shipped separately. Ok, that's fine. Checked my bank online again, and they had charged me again for part of the order that was shipped. Huh? So I'm looking at the full amount, then part of the amount, both pending on my account. So I called Belk.com, and they told me this is standard procedure. They first hold the funds, then when they ship, they charge for the merchandise. Which in turn, pending 2 separate charges on my bank account.
Now, this particular account, I use solely for buying clothes, makeup, shoes, etc. So this extra pending charge, put my account in the negative, which I have to pay overdraft fees for. I understand this charge will drop off in a few days, but still unacceptable. I shop online all the time, and this is the FIRST time a company did this. They either need to charge me at the time of service, or waiting to charge when they ship. Not both. The manager tried to blame the bank. No, it's you Belk. Not them! I will never buy from Belk again.

I ordered a pair of shoes from Belk because they were offering competitive prices and I figured I would give them a chance. It's important that I get my packages on time because I travel a lot for work and am never in the same place for very long, so I was tracking my package carefully. For that same reason, I often have mail forwarded to my work address- however I learned that Belk does not allow package forwarding, so instead of the package getting delivered to my work address, it got sent back to Belk.
I called Belk customer service, where they informed me that they no longer had that inventory, and could not simply resend the returned package, because "it just doesn't work like that". It's now too late to order elsewhere because I will be going to sea this week and won't see land again until next month. So, I will not be receiving the shoes I needed before departing. Needless to say, I will not be ordering from Belk again.

They are loaded with harassment, bullying, intimidation and lies. Horrible, horrible place. I worked there and watched so many bad things. Shouldn't be allowed to be in business. Dallas Texas.

March 28th I wanted to go in the Belk store in Lenoir, N. C. to look around, since the next weekend is Easter. I walk in the store, bunches of people standing around counters watching a fashion show or something like that for little girls. You could walk nowhere. Lady at poduim announces what they were wearing, etc. I was interested in the new Prada perfume Candy and worked my way to the counter. The employee were too busy watching the girls in their dresses.
I stood there for 3 or 4 minutes before the lady turned around and seen me. Ask about the fragrance, she found it, smelled it and ask the cost and she gave the amount. I ask her if she would hold it for me because I was still looking around. I couldn't get (shop) per se because all these people there standing around watching the show. My point is... I went to Belks to do a little shopping which I could not do because of the show or whatever it was. A fine department store like Belks should not be doing stuff like this at its store. Maybe somewhere else. Not at the store. Don't get me wrong. I'm all for these pageant shows or whatever, but not in the store. Needless to say I did not shop in the store because of this. Please inform the manager at the (Lenoir, N.C. Store) not a place to do this. Thank you.

On a clearance link, Belk had many rings. I ordered one and applied the coupon I had just gotten in my email for an extra 25% off. The coupon would not work on that one ring. I tried the coupon on other rings just to test the coupon and it worked on each one except that ring. I kept trying that Friday evening and Saturday day. Saturday after 6, the price of the ring change... It was the only one that changed and the coupon was accepted. Belk claims that ring was an early bird/night owl special and the coupon excluded those items. Not true. It was not tagged as such and was the only one I found not accepting the coupon. It was a good deal and they just reneged on their own sale item.

I submitted an online order on Belk.com on 12/31/14 after being given an online promo code for 75% off my order. I placed my order and received a confirmation email with an order #, telling me my order would ship within 48 hours. Over 48 hours later I receive an email from Belk telling me that my product was unavailable and that my order was cancelled. I contacted them since the promo code is no longer valid after 12/31/14. I have since been told that they won't honor my code because that code was for in store only at a store that was closing. I have several friends that placed the same order I did at the same time and their orders were honored and have since been shipped out.
How is this fair practice at all? You can't pick and choose who you honor an order with. If that was even the case, how did the website allow the code to be applied and give the discount? I'm beyond angry and will do whatever I can to have this fixed or I will make sure the world knows how they operate.

Belk offers what at first glance appears to be great coupons in their weekly newspaper flyers. However, the 15 percent, 20 percent or even 30 percent coupons in the flyers are essentially worthless. Why? The bizarre exclusions. Here is the list of the exclusions from the flyer I received today, December 25, 2014. All the coupons for as long as I remember are bound by the following exclusions:
Excludes Red Dot, Clearance, Earlybirds, Night Owls, Doorbusters, Bonus Buys, Super Buys, Everyday Values, Alegria, Alex and Ani, All Clad, Assets, Better & Designer Intimates, Birkenstock, Bonobos, Breville, Brighton, Brooks Brothers, Buffalo, Casio, Citizens of Humanity, Clarisonic, Coach, Cole Haan, Columbia, cosmetics/fragrances, Dansko, designer handbags, designer sunglasses, Diane Von Furstanberg, Dockers, Donald J Pliner, Dooney & Bourke, Eileen Fisher, Fine Jewelry watches and service plans, Free People, Furia, Gameday, Gear For Sports, Graco, Herend, Hugo Boss, Jack Rogers, Kate Spade, Akeen, Kensie Girl, kitchen/novelty electrics/coffee, Lacoste, ladies better swim, ladies designer & contemporary sportswear & dresses, ladies, kids & men's designer shoes, ladies designer accessories, Le Creuset, Levi's, Lilly Pulitzer, Lucky, Marc Jacobs watches, Mattel, Melissa & Doug ONLINE, Merrell, Michael Kors shoes & handbags, Minnetonka Moccasin, Miss Me, Monster Headphones, Munro, My Flat In London, Nanette Lepore, Nautica, Nike, Orthahees/Vionic, Ralph Lauren/Polo, Roberto Coin, Seven for All Mankind, Shape Active, Southern Proper, Spanx, Stuart Weitzman, Swarovski, Tommy Bahama, Tommy Hilfiger apparel, Trina Turk apparel, Tumi, Ugg, Under Armour, Vietri, Vineyard Vines, Vitamix, Wusthof, non-merchandise depts., lease dept., and Belk gift cards.
Not valid on prior purchases, special orders, or Trunk Shows. Cannot be redeemed for cash, credit or refund, used in conjunction with any other discount or coupon. So, the coupons are clearly deceptive and obviously just crafted to attempt to lure customers in their stores. Such a hassle to spend all that time shopping only to discover at checkout that virtually nothing you were planning to be on sale is excluded. No wonder some Belk stores are going out of business!

Today and in recent past occasions, during my shopping trip through Belk Department Store, I've walked by the Clinique makeup counter and stopped to ask a question. Today was not unlike the other times in which the makeup lady answered my question as a "no, we don't have that here" and never offered to show me something else or to show me anything else. I'm sure I was obviously not rushing to get away from the counter but the makeup consultant/sales lady quickly moved onto the next customer with little regard for my presence at the counter. Each time it felt as if they thought I couldn't afford their makeup or wasn't pretty enough or rich-appearing enough to buy it. Little do they know I have a Belk card and it is paid up to date, despite the fact that I shop at Belk on a regular basis.

Almost laughable comedy of e-commerce errors and gaffs. Polo shirt was described as being "Polyester, cotton" (sic). I called customer service to ask what the actual content was for each of the fibers. (When polyester is greater than cotton content then it's just too sweaty to wear). Nobody knew what it was so the customer service woman said, "I assume that it means that it's all cotton with the polyester being the thread that form the waffle pattern." Dumbfounded, I tried to explain that it was most certainly not the thread that was being described in such detail. I asked to speak with someone who could determine the actual fiber content of this shirt and she, there was nobody she knew who knew any more than she did.
I call again and asked for the number for corporate so I could talk with the buyer who would certainly have the information. She said that the only way I could get the info is if she submitted an information request and I should hear back in two to four days. (So much for impulse purchasing.) I asked if she could possible call one of the stores that carried the item and ask a department person to walk onto the floor and look at the content tag on one of the shirts on display. She gave me the numbers of four stores. I called one and nobody would walk out and look at the item, saying only, "You should call customer service."
Bravely, I ordered one shirt. It arrived five days later in four sizes larger than what I ordered and what was stated on the enclosed shipping invoice. It was large enough to make a decent sized camping tent for climbers. It was inside a shipping bag, loose, crumpled and wadded up with not enclosure at all. It looked like it had been lifted from a laundry hamper. I called customer service and they are sending a replacement. I am waiting with excitement to see what new and unexpected piece of laundry arrives. Incidentally, the color stated for this shirt was" Aubergne" on one page and "Augerbine" instead of the proper spelling: Aubergine. Someone's cousin is writing the copy for this store.

I will never shop at this Belks again or any Belks for that matter. I always thought this was a cheap store but the day I ran into it is because I was pressed for time and could not make it to the Mall of GA. My son had a play the next day and I had to get a pair of black cargo shorts. When my husband and son walked in an older white lady greeted us at one of the front counter as we walked by. We went directly to the boys section and started looking at the shorts about 3 minutes after we got there another older white woman came out of nowhere and asked how she can help us. I told her our dilemma and she just glanced through a few and said "we do not have anymore." Once I saw how fast she came back there to us I was skeptical and was shocked that she would follow us. My husband and I are both professionals and are over 45. I just laughed and we left. Oh, with and hour left we was able to run to the Mall of GA and JC Penney had the exact shorts I needed! We got it right before closing.

I ordered make-up from Belk, and those came with a free gift. The two packages shipped separately. When they arrived, the free gift was in one box but the other box contained a jewelry set instead of make up. I checked the enclosed Order Summary and it was correct, listing the make up. I know that such errors happen, so I contacted Customer Service and told them of the issue. Instead of apologizing and sending the correct items, they were short and demanded that I return the jewelry before I get my make up. My two options were to: 1) Request a return form (that takes 1-2 days to arrive to my email), package the jewelry, and send it back. Once Belk received the jewelry, they would then ship the makeup; 2) Return the jewelry to a Belk store and use the refunded money to re-order the make-up.
First, I am almost out of makeup. With either option, I have to wait shipping and processing time to get the makeup. Also, the reason I order online is that I have demanding work hours that don't allow me to visit a Belk store (or shipping store for that matter). I explained my situation to the representative, and she said that was the only way I could receive what I ordered was to ship back the jewelry or return it to a store.
I had a very similar experience at a similar department store last year (I ordered a towel set and got a skirt), and as soon as I told their customer service I had received the item, they immediately told me to keep the wrong item and that they would ship the new item immediately. They were very apologetic and didn't hint at making me return the skirt. There was no debate or talk of work, they just immediately told me to keep the wrong item because it was the store's mistake, not mine. At the time, I had better hours and would have been happy to return the skirt, but they did not mention this.
Needless to say, I am very frustrated that Belk makes their customers sacrifice time and gas to correct Belk's errors. This is not a good policy at all! I am a long time shopper of Belk and Belk.com, but this has left a sour taste in my mouth.

I'm complaining that there is some discrimination factors in their processing methods to upgrade my credit line to $300 to $500.

I placed an order online with Belk for 4 sets of dinnerware. The total of my order was $139 and some change. The first time I clicked to complete my order, I received a message stating that the transaction couldn't be processed. I waited a bit and tried again. The order was able to be completed on my second attempt. A couple of hours later, I happened to check my bank account and noticed that Belk placed two pre-authorization holds on my account for $150.95 each! When I contacted them, they said that they would "drop off" in 5 business days. That's all well & good except that these holds just shorted me the funds to make my house payment!
The following day, I received an email stating that my order had shipped. I again checked my bank account and sure enough, another hold for the purchase! Now they have put holds on my account for $450 to cover a $139 purchase. Belk says they didn't do it, the bank did. My bank says that Belk placed the holds. Great! Ok...now on to the shipping fiasco. When I created my account, I designated my work place as my shipping address. My home is in the middle of nowhere and no one is ever there during delivery hours. Guess where Belk shipped my order... to my home/billing address. Now I've had to contact the local post office and have a hold placed on the delivery. NEVER EVER AGAIN will I shop with Belk.

This order was the first time I have used your company. Let me explain the situation: I placed the order online at between 7-8 am est on Wednesday 12/17. The order on Thursday was still showing as in process, so I called. I was informed at that time, "don't worry, you will get a shipment notice by Friday morning." Friday morning came, I called, and informed them I still didn't have a shipment notice. They said not to worry, it would get shipped out by 1 pm on Saturday and still arrive in time for Christmas. On Saturday morning, I checked, still in process. Saw the customer service wasn't open until 9 am so waited. At almost 10 am on Saturday, I was sent an email that my order was canceled because it was out of stock. This is over 3 days (72 hours) after I placed the order. I did everything I think I could have possibly done, and the fact that I wasn't given any clue this item may be canceled is ridiculous. After the order was canceled, I checked the site and the item was still shown as in stock.

I will never purchase anything at Belks again after my experience this morning in their store! I took over 30 minutes picking out some clothes to bring on my vacation next week and when I got to the counter, the clerk said my check would not go through. I have ten times the amount of my purchase ($80) in that account. They wanted me to pay it by other means, which I refused to do for the principle of the matter. After they gave me the number of Certegy to call, they said it was not due to bad checks but gave no explanation and said they would send a letter explaining. This was a machine doing the talking.
So I could not pay for my merchandise today. Anybody who uses a system like "Certegy" will continue to lose business. It was embarrassing because other people assumed you must not have the money or you had checking issues. Good bye, Belks, and any other retail store using this kind of check verifying! I called the manager but he cannot do anything other than what Certegy told me to do, which is fill out a personal private invasive application that gives them access to my bank account.
