I put the flea and tick on my dog yesterday and when I went to take her our today in the afternoon I seen this terrible bloody mark on her and I was immediately like wtf, so I call the place and they go on abt "Thanks for calling us and I'm so sorry this happened. It's very rare that this happens," and gave me a case number. "Oh and take her to the vet too." I cannot afford a vet and now I have no choice. Me and my husband are very upset and worried bc I seen all the reviews abt pets dying and I feel so bad for applying it to her. So anyways I also noticed her collar has been extremely corroded and the burn is spreading farther down her neck. Getting worse by the hour.

I am going to do my best to sue this company. I'm truly disgusted with this and all they can say is, "Oh we're very sorry. BTW take her to the vet." Wait till you see the pics. NEVER USE HARTZ MOUNTAIN FLEA AND TICK DROPS. I never will touch this horrible stuff again. Oh yah and the box says reactions are rare but mild if they do occur which is very misleading and a flat out lie.

I put this on my 8.5lb cat and she instantly began having a reaction!! It burned my eyes instantly and she acted like it was burning her! She was panting, and meowing strange, running around, and meowed when I tried to touch her. She ran and hid under our bed and when I got her out she kept trying to turn her head to get the product off. I knew I had to get this off of her immediately! I washed her with Dawn and she seems to be ok, as of now, but will continue to watch her. We can only hope there’s no permanent damage done to her neurological or nervous system, skin, or that her hair won’t fall out-which is the least of the worries after reading some of these other reviews on here!! Luckily I only have one cat and only had it on her for less than 10 mins, I would hate to know the outcome if someone doesn’t watch their pet for reactions!!! Definitely need to evaluate this product as it seems to be incorrectly dosed and way too strong for small animals.

So where's the class action law suit for this?! Everyone on here has suffered greatly from this product and after putting this on my 3 cats one has no hair and twitches and the other 2 I've given multiple baths, I can still smell it, it burns my eyes. I can't believe that this is even allowed and there are enough people here to start filing claims. I am willing to help however I can but if anyone here knows more or can help please let everyone know! These people deserve money for pain and suffering. This is unacceptable and animal cruelty!!! My animals are all I have and depend on me to care for them. They are more special to me than anyone and this is a nightmare!! Someone please help!

Purchased this flea & tick for both of my Jack Russel's and the cat version for my boy cat. Immediately, my cat ran all around the house, all over the furniture, twitched all over, was uncomfortable being touched, hid all night behind things, stopped eating and drinking. It took three days for him to finally feel better. My Jack Russell began violently shaking, her heart was racing, she could not lay down, ran into everything, appeared to not recognize her surroundings, growled, and stopped eating and drinking.

Day three, she still has these attacks, however, it has finally slowed down to two times a day. The only way I could reduce their reactions was (for my cat) to give an activated charcoal capsule and rescue remedy anxiety drops (about a fifth of dropper) as well as wash area drops were places with soap, water and rinse using a wet cloth. For my JRT, same as the cat except I also gave her a mix of herbs (dandelion for her kidneys, burdock for her blood and milk thistle for her liver), which I repeat after each episode. This is the only way I was able to see any improvement. **With the exception of the first dose of charcoal, I give a daily capsule separate from other supplements as charcoal will absorb too much of the herbs. This product is pure evil. This can kill your pet and should have been off the market years ago. My JRT's symptoms lasted longer than my cat's, so I added ** a few times a day.

I bought this product labeled for dogs weighing 31-60 pounds. There is A lot of product in the tube. I did not want my dogs exposed to that much poison. Rather than using one full tube for each of my dogs. I modified the dose from one dose per tube to 4.5 doses per tube. It is just as deadly to fleas and ticks and is safe for my dogs.

The product needs to be in contact with the skin to do its job. My dogs' coats are only 1/4" to 1-inch long. A dog with a thick/dense double coat (under and outer coat) such as 50-60 pound Husky, Akita or German Shepard has super thick and very dense coats. They would need more of the product as their coats might prevent much of the product from reaching the skin. The natural coat of 40-60 pound Standard Poodle is intended to keep sticks and debris away from the skin when on hunts. Dogs of this size with these kinds of coats shouldn't have more than 1/4 of the recommended dose applied to their bodies. Very short-haired dogs such as my 31-pound short-haired Border Collie, 38-pound lab/Pitbull, and my 40-pound Rhodesian Ridgeback/Pitbull, only needed 1/5th of the entire tube each.

After modifying the dosage I also modified the way the product was applied. I applied the product with a light-hand beginning just ahead of their shoulders in a broken line the width of 5 hairs to the base of their tails. No more fleas and no side effects. I believe that problems have resulted from improper dosing on the part of Hartz. If I had used an entire tube any one of my dogs, he or she would have experienced the same symptoms, side-effects or may have died.

I believe that this one-size- dose-works-for-all is a serious mistake. I believe that Hartz has a very good product. But there is a very serious dosing error that is the core problem resulting in neurological toxicity and the avoidable suffering and deaths of many dogs. Topical Flea and Tick products typically contain powerful Neuro Toxins. This is how the work to kill fleas and ticks. They target the nervous system and brain. in very small doses they are usually safe for dogs, cats and yes humans. Insects are much smaller than dogs and cats. The very small amounts needed to kill these nasty pests should not be affecting the dogs. Hartz needs to reconsider how to dose this product. I feel that the concentrations of this pesticide should be based on 10-pound increments and the length and density of the dogs' coats.

It takes a whole less of this product to effectively treat 31-40 pound, smooth-haired, 1/4 to 1-inch length coat than it does for 31-40 pound dog with a dense double coat, a coat that drags on the floor or thick curly coat. Just as it takes less shampoo to wash super short hair than it does to wash thick or long hair. It is just common sense. Come on Hartz, you have a good thing here. Reconsider how you are packaging and the dosing guidelines for this product.

I have used the Ultra Guard (purple tubes, not the Pro), in the past and it was inexpensive and it worked as they said it would. Usually lasting 30 days. I have 7 cats. I previously had a problem when the topical medicine was applied and latter added a flea collar maybe 2 weeks later (bad idea). One cat out of 7 got a little sick, removed the flea collar and he recovered. This June I began using the Ultra Guard Pro as the cheaper stuff wasn't available. It didn't work at all. 3 days after application all my cats were infested with fleas, worse than ever. After 5 days it was even worse. After 7 days only a bath worked. On day 10 fleas still infesting. Day 15 another bath. 1 cat later died of flea bites, or over exposure to medicine that didn't work after ripping itself raw. Yes the fleas can infect the animal too or excessive bites cause anemia which can cause the animal's organs to shut down. This product is horrible.

The package was Hartz Ultraguard pro and it stated it killed fleas in 15 minutes. I squeezed the solution on my cat's neck and within minutes, she started to scream and hiss, running all around the house. Hissing at the other cats and I. I figured it was because of the smell and her first time having a flea treatment. A couple hours later, I found her panting, scratching at her neck and hissing all in one. I looked up the medicine and found this medication to be toxic! I immediately gave all the cats a bath in Dawn dish soap. The following day, my cat is being a loner and not Socializing very well. I gave him water and fed him blended eggs and salmon with a dropper, knowing if he didn’t eat or drink he would die for sure, and he finally went to his litter, I followed him. It was then I noticed blood in his urine. Scared and confused, I took him to the vet. His kidneys has shut down and he was in renal failure and treatment would be upwards of 600.00. The vet refused to let me make payments on his treatment, even as I begged her, she refused. What she did say she would do is take my cat, and treat him, but only if I surrendered him to her.

When I asked could I adopt him back she said no, I wouldn’t be able to afford his treatments, so they would adopt him out to a family who could. I know she saw his ear, infested with mites, so I can only imagine what she thought of me. The ear drops didn’t do anything except almost kill my cat and cause one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. Take him home and watch him die, or surrender him. I love my cat. I really didn’t have a choice. I signed my baby away so he could stay alive. It was an all around crapfest, as Before I left, I asked could I come one more time and visit him and she said, "No, he’s not your cat anymore." Just like that. I don’t even know if he’s alive. I feel such remorse and guilt, especially after reading all of these reviews!

I’m so sorry for all of the people whose fur baby was harmed by this product. We believed that we were doing the right thing for our pets, Hartz has been around forever. It should be a trusted and safe product, but obviously it’s not. I spent the last few days thinking about what could have caused his illness and

I didn’t even make a connection until just today. When I decided to look up the ingredients, and ended up here. This company should be ashamed of all the needless pain and sorrow they’ve caused!. I’m thinking it may be time to hold them accountable.

Should have consulted my vet first, but I grabbed a box of this Ultra Guard Pro along with some groceries, thinking I would save myself a second trip to a pet supply store. I read the directions carefully and even the pictures showed how the topical solution should be applied. IMMEDIATELY, my cat started twisting, trying to lick it off. I quickly applied a dry towel to the area wiping off all that I could. Well thank God I did! The next morning my poor cat had a bald spot with dried blood on it. I medicated the sore for a few days & although my cat doesn’t appear to be in any pain or discomfort, his bald spot is getting longer & no hair is growing back, in the affected area. So furious & irate, now I find all these complaints, on this site. I called the store manager at the Walmart I purchased the box from, and complained. I found my receipt & returned what was left. Just like the others, I’m shocked this product is still in the market!!!

On Memorial Day we took our dog a bath with Hartz Flea and Tick Shampoo. 3 hrs later our dog started to shake, throw up and could not walk, would not eat or drink. We took her to the vet and we were told she had been poisoned. Of course we were in such distress we did not recall the bath. However, vet bill was crazy but she made it thru. However, still left us wondering what did it. She is a inside dog so we were very confused. Today I see my cousin post of her dog after bath with Hartz and sounded the same so I agree this should no longer be sold.

He wouldn't let me pet him or hold him. He didn't have any interest in anything and he just hid behind the couch. I did a lot of research and read to give him a bath with Dawn dish soap, within 10 minutes he was eating and playing again. DO NOT use this product on your cat. Many cats have died. I wish I didn't have to use any at all because I don't care for toxic chemicals in general but considering the alternative, you do what you gotta do. Of course there are going to be side effects in a number of patients because it's a POISON. That is why there warning labels and precisely measured doses. They even err on the side of less, just to be safe. For the record, I don't work for the company or anything but people, get some perspective!! I thought it was because he smelled it before I put it on him. He ran away from me again & once he calmed down just a little I noticed he wouldn't sit still no more than a few seconds. I thought it was because he could still smell the medicine. I was told by a Facebook cat group not to use the cheap store brand stuff because it has killed cats. I got a washcloth & put my Dove body wash on it & washed off what I could of it, he laid there like it felt so good me washing it off.

Now tonight, a day later I felt a dime sized knot on his skin right where I applied these drops. He seems to be acting ok so far but has neuter surgery tomorrow. Reviewed Sept. 13, 2017

I bought this product a few weeks ago for my kitty who was struggling with fleas. I had read some reviews saying their cat reacted badly to it while some others said it worked fine, so I went with the benefit of the doubt that my kitty would be fine, but I was wrong. Minutes after I applied the medicine she started trying to lick and rub it off, also acting very timid and trying to avoid me. I read these signs very quickly and heard they meant no good for my cat so I quickly brought her to the bath and washed the medicine off with kitty shampoo, and afterwards she was totally fine.

Today I did some research on the ingredient in the medicine, Etofenprox. And after reading some stuff on this page, ** it became apparent to me that this medicine should not at all be used on cats and scarcely on dogs. This is because etofenprox is a pesticide that is a form of synthetic pyrethroid. And with this all forms of synthetic pyrethroids are hazardous to cats. This is because the cat's body keeps it absorbed for longer meaning it can do more damage and cats do not have the required enzymes to tone down the toxicity of the poison. Now yes some cats can react to it worse than other with it being potentially fatal, but this does not mean you should risk it.

Now from to the article I mentioned above, "According to a report by the EPA from 2010, most problems occurred with spot-ons containing permethrin, phenothrin, cyphenothrin (all are synthetic pyrethroids) and amitraz, not approved for use on cats but erroneously used on them." Using these types of pesticides on smaller dogs can also be detrimental to them, but it is not as risky as using them on cats. There is also no antidote for etofenprox poisoning. If you had applied the pesticide to your cat though and washed it off them thoroughly with gentle dish soap like dawn or pet shampoo and water within 20 minutes or less of applying it, they should be fine.

Now if you had given this kind of flea medicine to your cat and have not washed it off within 30 minutes of applying it or around that time washing it off did not help, immediately take them to an emergency-vet service if they show signs of any of the following. Timidness, hiding, fear of you, excessive hair-loss, over-attentiveness to the application site, drooling, vomiting, lethargy, or anything else very suspicious of your pet.

Now the vet cannot get rid of the poison in the cat's system but they can administer many things to help with accidental ingestion, spasms, excessive drooling, vomiting/diarrhea, and supplements to protect the liver. If a vet refuses to help your pet or says that there isn't anything they can do for them I'm just letting you know that that is very untrue. For accidental ingestion activated charcoal, magnesium sulfate or sodium sulfate in water can be administered. Spasms can be treated with anticonvulsants, and hyper-salivation can be treated with atropine. Then Calcium gluconate and vitamins of the B complex can be used to protect the liver.

Anyway, etofenprox is usually very poorly absorbed by the skin anyway leading to most animals incompletely ingesting 14 to 51 percent of it. About 90 percent of the ingested chemical will come out in the animals waste though. So in the end, just don't use this product, it's a dangerous waste of time and money. You should also research the ingredients in what kind of flea treatment you put on your cat to make sure ahead of time it is not a synthetic pyrethroid.

Examples of products that are safe for cats are Frontline Plus / Pet Action Plus (using fipronil) Advantage (using imidacloprid) and at least in my case Cheristin for cats (using spinetoram). I say in my case because some reports say that Cheristin is just a reboot of an older flea treatment that was taken off shelves for being deadly, but my kitty didn't have anything bad happen to her because of it, though it did lose effectiveness after just a week, and it doesn't contain any insect growth regulators so the eggs, larvae, and pupae did not die. Then there is that fleas can become immune to frontline and advantage if used consistently so I would recommend switching between the two every month, and only using flea treatments as symptoms persist. If you keep applying treatments to your pet more than a month after there is no sign of fleas on them, fleas will very possibly become immune to it.

I had purchased Hartz Ultraguard Pro for my grandmother's cats. Immediately after application one cat, Ginger started blinking his eyes and you could see the tears running out of his eyes. So obviously it burns. The littler and younger cat, Kitten started salivating terribly. Both of them are miserable. I read on here to wash with Dawn and push fluids. Ginger is not eating a few treats and drinking water. Kitten, however isn't moving much. Every time you get close she growls. However, on both of them when washing their necks with a cool rag with Dawn they seemed to love it. They didn't fight back which is unusual.

So I'm hoping and praying to the Good Lord that he lets them live a long healthy life. Please, I'm begging you DO NOT USE THIS ON YOUR PETS PLEASE. I know its cheap but getting the good stuff really is worth it. I understand that now after what I just seen. It breaks my heart. Thank you for the advice with the Dawn. I hope I got them in time.

Then the cat began acting abnormally. She finally had to take him to a vet. The vet said the cat had been poisoned by this product. Two days later she brought him back to the vet and was told the cat will not survive and had to put him down. How can this product still be sold with all the complaints being brought forward? I will be going to this Walmart to give them a piece of my mind.

If I could give zero stars I would. I am beyond mad with Hartz. I have used this product before so I thought nothing of it. My dog had fleas so I ran out and picked up some Hartz flea and tick topical drops for puppies. The day I applied the drops she turned red. Again I didn't think much of it until the next morning when my baby was covered in nasty red bumps from nose to tail. I decided to call their customer care line to see what they would say. The lady I spoke with told me it was NOT their product that did it, that my dog already had the issues before I put their drops on her. I know for sure there was nothing wrong with my dog before the drops were applied. Needless to say if you are new or even older pet parent I would stay as far away from these products.

After putting it on her back 2 days later she stopped eating, drinking and when she went to use her litter box there was blood in her urine. To say the least I rushed her to the vet and found out that it was the Hartz Flea Drops that poisoned her. The vet told me not to use it anymore not even on my dogs. So now we are using Advantage. Cost more but cost less than a vet bill. I don't understand how they can still sell the stuff if it does your animals so bad. Should be taken off the shelves.

After reading all of the comments WHY is this still being sold. NEVER again... I purchased and bathed my dog with your Hartz UltraGuard Pro. After her bath her eyes had a green discharge and when I looked at her eyes they looked glazed over. I rushed her to the veterinarian and he said it was the shampoo. My dog is a 23 pound shih tzu. He prescribed eyedrops and pain medication. Her eyes looked glazed over and it seems to have a problem seeing. It is hard to give her drops because she is in pain. I am very concerned she is going to lose her sight.

All of her problems are a result of using the Hartz shampoo. My heart is broken. It is hard to hear her cry and cannot even open her right eye. Maggie got worse and the infection is now in both eyes. I had to rush her to the emergency hospital. They did blood test and looked at her eyes. They thought I might have to take her to an ophthalmologist but they have not determined if that is going to be necessary. Maggie had to stay 3 nights and during her testing they discovered she had DKA which was brought on by the stress of her eye problems. She has never tested positive for diabetes and as it was explained to me the stress brought on the DKA. She is back in the ER today to get her eyes checked and to do a curve test on the diabetes. My dog is suffering so much. She is having a problem adapting to the food and the eye treatments make her sick to her stomach.

So far I have spent approximately 5,000.00 on her treatment. The doctors are documenting everything and I will fax this as soon as the treatment is complete. This has broken my heart. By using Hartz shampoo my dog is suffering tremendously. I am at the point of a nervous breakdown doctoring my dog and begging her to eat. I got my dog for companionship after my husband died. I am on a fixed income and this is causing me so many problems financially. Emotionally I am so depressed and so upset with what she has to go through each day. Insulin shots, eyedrops and special feedings. I was surprised when I had two different vets and one national pet store tell me they always have problems with Hartz products. One telling me they do not understand why Hartz is still in business.

We sprayed our male cat three days ago. Within two minutes he was uncontrollably scratching and knocking things over. This let up a bit and he went outside. He then eventually became lethargic and just sat under a tree for a long time. When he finally tried to walk it was like his back end was hard to manage. We brought him into the house and from then on he became worse and couldn't move. Our daughter went online to read about the spray used. She immediately bathed Chippey to get it off. He yowled in pain.

Afterwards he laid on a bed literally motionless except for slight breathing all night. Then we researched some antibiotic meds on hand to see if cats could tolerate any of them, one was okay so a tiny piece was given. Later on another bath to get the toxins off and this time a tiny piece of 5 g regular Reaction tablet which was also researched online. He has survived three days. Meanwhile he is being given water through a syringe.

Chippey is still with us and is able to get around a bit if he wants to but prefers to lay on our knees or the couch. His kidneys aren't functioning normally. He's had two accidents and this morning when picked up a stream of urine came out. He felt better afterwards and is now laying on my chest as I type. He seems to be slowly improving as he did jump up on the couch on his own. I filed a complaint to the company. Do NOT use their products. We love our animals.

After giving him a bath in Dawn detergent, we decided to go to Walmart and get a flea collar. 2 days later he was very lethargic, vomiting, staring off in space, not eating & scratching. We immediately took him to 24 hour emergency. When we walked through the door and told the nurse his symptoms, she instantly instructed me to remove the collar. She take courage in the back to get vitals. After giving him anti nausea med and fluids, 4 1/2 hours and $160 later we were sent home. Two days later back to emergency room with worsen symptoms. It was recommended to have him hospitalized ($784.00 for one night) because the toxins from the flea collar had started to shut down his organs.

There was no way he would survive this. His temp had drop dangerous low and blood sugar was so low the meter couldn't read it. Being a single mom of 2 there's no way I could afford to have him hospitalized. After anti nausea med, dextrose injection & 30 minutes of IV fluids (another $120). We were sent home with a critical ill puppy with the IV port left in his arm in case we needed to return and just in case he made it through the night for his vet visit the next day. We were told to set the alarm and basically keep a constantly eye on him. I literally stayed up all night placing syrup on his gum every 2-3 hours to try and keep his glucose up. At 4am I watched him have a violent seizures. From 4am, I watched him have 2 seizures, vomiting, whining in pain, until he took his last breath at 9:30.

My 20 year old watch this and is having the most difficult time getting that vision out of his head. I physically had to prevent my 12 year old from going into the room where this horrible thing was happening. Courage my 1.5 bichon had to suffer and die because of their toxin product that is still being sold. It's like they're getting paid to killed these poor animals without any consequences. My boys waited a very long time to be rewarded with a puppy. We are completely devastated. How could this be allowed to happen. So many families are being affected emotionally and financially. DANGEROUS! POISON! Worst product in stores! Please do not put this on your animal! I have 5 cats; one of which is an indoor/outdoor cat. She has been on Revolution (a prescription flea med) for 5 months since she came to us as a stray, mainly because she had ear mites too. Our vet recommended keeping her on this if she would continue going outside.

I recently ordered her another 3 month supply through a mail order, but had been noticing she was itching a lot more than usual and had also found one or two fleas near her bedding area and decided to go to our local shopping center to get a quick substitute for her, as well as something for my other 4 indoor cats to prevent them from getting fleas from her while waiting for her prescription to come. When we first took her in, we used a cheaper version (around $6 per box) for our indoor kitties for the same preventative precautions.

So this time, I decided to compare the $6 box with the next amount up at $12 which was the Hartz Ultra Guard Pro. I figured if the ingredients were the same then I would just get the cheaper version. I did not want to pay $50 - $60 on the more expensive brands such as Advantage or Frontline when I had just spent that on the prescription Revolution if I didn't have to and since this dose was mainly for precaution only (prevention for my indoor cats and something to help hold my outdoor kitty until her regular meds arrived) then that would be fine.

Turns out, Hartz Ultraguard Pro did have another ingredient that the cheaper brand didn't have, so I assumed that must be what I was paying $6 more per box for. Don't you expect to get what you pay for? An extra additive must make this one work a bit better than the one that doesn't have it, right? Well, unfortunately I had to find out the hard way that this ingredient (**) which is 40% of the active ingredients is part of the ** family which is basically a pesticide... aka poison!

I put a dose on each of my cats that evening exactly as the box said: between the shoulder blades. There is just no way to prevent this stuff from getting in your animal's mouth! They are going to groom themselves and regardless of how well it's placed, they will inevitably lick it down the hair shafts or scratch and lick their paws until at least some gets ingested. Through the evening I noticed that 2 of my babies were foaming at the mouth. I assumed this was because they had ingested some and didn't think much of it until later into the evening my 3-year old, male orange tabby started vomiting and started kicking his back paws as if he had stepped in water.

When this continued to happen and didn't seem to just be an isolated event, I started to look online for the possible causes for these symptoms and found story after story of this same product causing similar symptoms in other pets (dogs included) and sometimes worse, even leading to death in many. This steming back as far as 2009.

** work to paralyze fleas and essentially when absorbed into the skin can do the same for your pet. It has been known to cause foaming of the mouth, vomiting, diarrhea, skin burns/lesions, loss of limb function, seizures, renal failure, and ultimately death in some! WTF is this product still doing on the shelves? EPA and The Hartz Mountain Corporation know good and well these things have been happening to numerous animals for years and they still approve it for sale! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!

I am now 24 hours past the time when I first applied this poison to my 5, sweet, loving pets and 2 out of 5 have had a bad reaction! One of them, although seemingly doing better this evening, is still not himself and I am very worried about how an application that is supposed to last in his system for one month will continue to react with him. From what I read online, you should wash the area of treatment with dawn dish detergent and rinse well with water to prevent as much as you can from absorbing into the skin. By the time I did this, it had already been on them for at least 8 hours and who knows how much they had ingested! I'm hoping what I have done has been enough to rectify the situation, but many haven't and won't be this lucky!

This item MUST be removed from stores! Like myself, most people assume an in store product will be milder and likely less effective than prescription products, but certainly would never assume they would be so dangerous and deadly! After all, shouldn't the EPA be looking out for the best interest of pets? Isn't that their job? SOMEONE HAS DROPPED THE BALL! How many pets must suffer and die before Hartz takes this off the shelf? Stop calling it a treatment for fleas and call it what it is... Animal pesticide... aka POISON! This has been a hard lesson learned at the expense of my 5 innocent animals! I will NEVER purchase another Hartz product EVER again and would suggest anyone reading this to do the same.

This stuff is POISON and it killed my baby!! I bought this product 2 months ago for our beloved kitty Dip. He was 12 lbs and fine. He had FIV but was in good health and had no problems. Happy, fat, and enjoying a quality of life any pet parent could wish for their fur baby! Within a day he started losing fur around the application site. He then developed sores that were chemical burns. The sores and hair loss spread and he lost weight rapidly. We spent over $500 desperately trying to save him. Today the vet told us his anemia was worse and his organs were shutting down. He was 8 lbs. She said that his condition would continue to deteriorate and he would suffer. We made the heartbreaking decision to allow him to fall asleep in my arms one last time with him purring.

I hate this company for making a poison that killed our beautiful boy. You are criminals and you shouldn't be allowed to sell this garbage! He was FINE until he got those drops! The vomiting ceased in about an hour, it was followed by more drooling and clear fluid, followed by more and more drooling and dry heaves. This drooling was only a precursor to seizures, which, surely would have occurred had I not gotten him to his vets. I've used Hartz Ultra Guard on my dog after returning from holidays where tics and fleas are rampant with great success. We were in Waterton Lakes National Park Canada where Bison, bears, elk and deer are everywhere and unfortunately, my dog did get fleas while rolling around in the scrub and sagebrush. This product worked immediately on his itchy infested skin with absolutely no adverse side effects. I have read many negative reports on this product and was quite apprehensive about applying it on my boy, but his great discomfort and several sleepless nights was the deciding factor. Almost immediately, his scratching stopped and was asleep at my feet within five minutes. I would use this product again and would most definitely recommend it to my friends with large dog breeds.

On Friday, Sept, 2, 2016, I treated my Boxer/mix for fleas with Hartz Ultra Guard flea & tick prevention for dogs & puppies (use only on dogs and puppies 12 weeks and older weighing 1 to 150 lbs.) I followed directions to the letter. Saturday, the 3rd, she was ok. Sunday, the 4th, she only ate 1/2 her normal food. Monday, she did not eat at all. Tuesday, the 6th, she was paralyzed in her hind quarters. I used the medication as directed, applying between shoulder blades. down her back to the base of her tail.

My daughter called the vet and was told to wash her with Dawn Liquid dish soap ASAP, which we did. This morning, (Wednesday, Sept 7, 2016) shows no improvement other than she is eating a little more. I contacted Hartz on Tuesday evening but offices were closed. The automated answering machine gave me the number to their product safety/poison control people. I called and spoke with a lady named Nancy and was informed rather rudely that their product did not cause paralysis in animals. I called Hartz Corporation this morning and spoke with a person named Dale in the animal emergency department and was told the same thing. I was also told to contact my vet or the animal shelter and have them to contact the company and the company would tell them what to do. My pet was in very good health prior to me treating her for fleas. She has had no ticks on her.

Needless to say, I am very upset and angry. Hartz acts like they could care less about animals. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT NO ONE USE ANY PRODUCT MADE BY HARTZ MOUNTAIN CORPORATION unless they want to have a sick or dead or injured pet. I regret I did not check on this product & company before I medicated my Rosie. I have since read several "horror" stories from others about what they have gone through with their pets due to Hartz products.

Both of my small dogs had reactions the next day to the use of the flea and tick ampules that are applied from the shoulders down. They both had RED eyes, the smaller of the two could not open her eye and was lethargic. I saved all the vet bills which amounted to about 700 dollars. I was not expecting full compensation but I would expect a large company to be a bit more compassionate.

They wrote back saying I did not apply the drops properly and there is no way an allergic reaction can cause a corneal ulcer. Dogs and Cats die from this product and they question a different allergic reaction. The chemical is absorbed in the blood, both dogs had reactions. The smaller dog's eye was irritated by the chemical and became infection and they deny the connection. The box only says moderate eye irritation! They replied! I will never buy anything from this company. The chemicals are harsh and they are not even required to list all the ingredients on the box! How dare they try and blame me for their misuse of chemicals. DO NOT USE ANY THING FROM THIS COMPANY...

I just put this product on my adult female cat and immediately she started convulsing and foaming at the mouth and getting sick and started running around and hiding and crying in pain. I wish I would have read these reviews first before I applied it and I pray to God that I haven't killed my cat. I was going to apply it on two of her kittens that are 12 weeks old but she had this immediate reaction. I've done the best I can to wash it off in warm water and Dawn and I pray that I got most of it off.

All I can do now is watch her and hopefully she will be fine. I don't understand after reading all of these reviews of death and poisoning why Hartz even has this on the market. My cats needed a flea treatment due to a kitten we had adopted a few months back that had fleas. So my boyfriend bought this product at Wal-Mart mostly due to the cheap price. HA well there's a good reason it's so much cheaper than all the other brands. 10:30 am I applied this Hartz product to two of my cats. My oldest 9 yr. old male cat, and my 1 year old female cat. 10:45 am by this time, Stevie (female) is howling in agony, running around, hissing, and panting like a dog. She is flying through the house and she can't sit still and when she does she's trying to roll on her back. I'm guessing to rub this poison off.

Baby Kitty (male) is drooling like a faucet from the mouth, he's slobbering/foaming everywhere his eyes were tearing up. I'm a wreck by this point balling my eyes out trying to call the nearest animal hospital. I'm told to use Dawn soap to wash it off immediately which I did to the best of my ability. I went through the most terrifying hour of my life thinking I just killed my two babies. It took over an hour for them to finally calm down after washing off their back with warm water and soap. 2 days later, I see raw pink skin and blister/burn marks on the back of Baby Kitty's neck from this garbage. I'm still debating on whether or not pressing charges because I have no idea how this toxic trash is still on the shelves.

No one should ever go through anything like this. They are doing fine and well now, besides the clear evidence on Baby Kitty's neck and shoulder, but this could have been so much worse had I used one entire tube per cat LIKE IT INSTRUCTED instead of sharing one between the two of them. I'd give this review 0 stars if that were an option.

Took him to the vet. Did blood work and urine. Blood work came in as very high diabetes and blood in the urine. So the veterinarian said "Bring him in the next morning and we will check the blood work again." This time it was normal. So the veterinarian concluded that it was from the Tick & Flea application. Today is day 4 and showed a slight improvement, but still falls over and has scratching spells.

I went online to see all the reviews and like many others wished that I had read them beforehand. With so many complaints why hasn't there been anything done to this company? I had called them and talk to this women named Kim and assured me that this is an isolated case. Well I ask her then why is there over 208 complaints, her response was that you cannot believe everything you read on those reviews. I hope and pray that my Ikie pulls thru. She stared at me blankly for about a whole minute and then turned in another direction and stared for another three minutes motionlessly. Then she darted away from me as if I were a threat to her. When I got her out from underneath the furniture, she was completely flaccid, like a cold noodle. I knew I had to wash it off of her thoroughly. I used dishwashing liquid and some pet shampoo (sentry) and lathered her neck real good. Then I toweled dried her real good. She still looked despondent. I fed her some of her favorite tuna, mostly because I know she loves it and it was my way of expressing apology. She ate it and curled into a furball on a pillow. We'll see tomorrow how she is. I used this medication on my cat on Saturday, November 28th 2015. Followed all of the instructions on the box as I have the last 9 years using other products since I adopted my cat Aurora. She was in perfect health until a couple of hours after I applied this medication. For starters she lost all of her fur at the site of application. Then she started twitching and getting very aggressive. We called a vet friend who immediately knew about this and advised me to bath her with mild soap (We used Dawn dish washing soap as recommended).

As the next couple of days went by the application site continued to improve and her aggressiveness faded but she began to have neurological issues so we brought her to the vet. The vet ran tests on her organs and stated they looked fine and she didn't have any viruses or diseases or anything else abnormal so the only thing to blame was this medication. They gave her a pack of fluid in her stomach to help with her vomiting and that helped with that side effect so she could hold down food again.

We are now 3 weeks later after applying the Hartz medication for Flea and Tick and her neurological issues are worsening. She has episodes of falling over and not being able to catch her fall like normal cats can and now has a limp. When she has an episode of falling over she acts as if she is possessed and starts scooting on her butt and hissing at thin air and then trembling and drooling until we say her name to snap her out of it. She also is very aggressive and hard to touch again, we assume she is probably bruised and also thinks we are the ones out to get her.

After another call to the vet to check in she said we may want to consider that she is getting worse and call in hospice to evaluate her quality of life and decide if we should be putting her down. After spending $100's of dollars at the vet only to find out there is no cure for this it's so sad to watch her like this when she was so happy, playful and lovable prior to the medication application.

I have done so much research since this happened and I am curious how this stuff is still on the market when it's killing healthy animals. My pets are my children and I wanted to share my story so other people will know about this side effect and will think twice before applying to their 4 legged child. It's killing pets or making them permanently damaged. I pray that as we share our sad story we will be able to fight back and get this stuff off the market!

The only thing he wanted was water. We were trying to figure out what we may have done that was different and my husband remembered the tick drops we bought. I looked up this product and was horrified to see all of the bad reviews and what others said happened to their pets. This product should be removed and something should be done to all of the people who have suffered heartache because of these drops. We have just given him a bath and praying he will start doing better.

I bought this product hoping this over the counter medicine would help my cats from suffering with fleas. Instead they were suffering from this product. Their skin turned red and bumpy. They were crying with pain and discomfort. This product was burning them. I love my cats and to have seen them in this much pain really upset me. I wish the ingredients would get changed so no more animals have to suffer.
