Well, despite the customer service rep telling me that I would not receive my order by the 18th, I actually ended up receiving it on the 14th. I'm not sure if it was my (admittedly hot-headed) complaining that did the trick, but I can say that am satisfied with the products I received, and I do appreciate the company's response.

    Original Review: July 10, 2015

I placed an order on 6/26 for a swimsuit ($45) and a pair of jeans ($23). Including shipping, the total was $80. First of all, $12 shipping??? Most companies nowadays offer free shipping if your order >$X, but I digress... The swimsuit shipped the next day and arrived in about a week. Fit great. No complaints. The JEANS, however!!! When I ordered them, I was aware that they were on backorder and would arrive by 7/9. I was primarily purchasing the jeans to attend a concert on 7/18, so I figured that if they shipped on the 9th they'd be here on time (HAHAHA).

Today (7/10) I noticed that they still had not shipped! So I got on live chat and spoke with a rep... Well, the rep tells me that the date they gave me was when the backorder would be arriving at their facility, but it still takes 24-72 hours to process the order. I asked if she thought they would arrive here by the 18th, and she said they probably wouldn't. That was a huge bummer to hear (and I paid $12 to wait more than 3 weeks? Come on, now...) but I asked her if there was any way to upgrade the shipping. Nope, you can't upgrade shipping on orders that are currently processing. Uhhh, okay... Well, then I'd like to cancel my order. Nope, you can't cancel orders that are currently processing.

So the item hasn't even left their facility, but I'm unable to upgrade shipping AND I'm unable to cancel the order??? Plus, guess what their return policy is? S&H is non-refundable, and they also deduct $7.50 from your refund to return items. Aside from the fact that I'm being forced to pay them to take their stuff back, how is it that I'm able to pay $7.50 S&H on a return when I had to pay almost $4 more when I ordered it??? I've never been so frustrated with a company before. Needless to say, I will never be shopping here again.

BONUS: When I was done speaking with the rep, the post-chat survey asked, "How likely would you be to recommend us to a friend?" Hmm, I guess it all depends on how much I hate my friend...

I have bought stuff from Woman Within quite a number of times but have always been shocked at the total price. I now have discovered that they slap on a 30% fee, although our sales tax here is 15%. I have phoned them, sent an email enquiry plus an email to the company that Woman Within claim is their invoicing outfit. This must have been about one month ago BUT I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A REPLY!!! Quite obviously I am not buying any more from them...

Got my invoice and "Free Shipping" cancelled out on BOTH my invoices because I used the 40% discount code they mailed me for signing up! Woman Within sends you multiple discount codes but you can only use one! Customer service says they can't help you!

I am upset with Woman Within because they charge for delivery of items even though you spend over $50.00. It's about $7.50 to ship items, then, if you have to return the item, you get socked another $7.50. That's $15.00 and I find that a gauging tactic by the company. I will not buy another item from you people until you at least provide free shipping with a minimum purchase. I want my name taken off of your mailing list. I ordered a pair of the sport twill pants about two months ago. I wanted them because they were advertised as having a zipper pocket. When I got them, they did have a zipper but NO pocket. Imagine my surprise when I unzipped the zipper to only find the side of my pants. NO, I repeat, NO pocket. I was very disappointed. I knew if I returned them, I may get half of my money back. Since they fit okay, I kept them. I sure am not stupid enough to order another pair though. That is called false advertisement and you are still doing it. I got my new catalog yesterday and those pants are advertised again with a zipper pocket. What a joke on everyone who orders them. That's very poor business practice. I know now NOT to trust any advertisement you put out. I am very disappointed in your company. I think false advertising is against the law.

I will never purchase anything from this company EVER again. And I will tell everyone I know not to order from them. They just lost good business.

I have read many of these accounts of buyers from Woman Within. My complaint is not about quality or where the item is manufactured... It is about sizing. This company is nuts. I usually wear a medium or even a large. If it goes over my bra, such as a shirt, then a medium. If it goes over my clothes, then a large. I realize this is a plus-size company, but it is not fair to size these clothes M, L, XL...... These clothes are massively too big for regular people. Their M is truly a 2X, every time, consistently. Once I went through the entire catalog to see what they had in a size S. I looked at every item. In the entire catalog, I found 3 size S items. I will never, ever order from them again unless they get their sizing correct and start to offer more S. Color me done.

I ordered jeans from Woman Within. I used their size chart to order them. When I received them, they were too small. I decided to exchange them for the next size up. I called customer service & they told me to fill out the back of the packing slip with the information about the pair I would receive in exchange, then send them back to the company. When I finally received the new jeans (that were the next size up from the ones I originally received), they were too big. Then I found out that they had charged a $7.50 return fee. The catalog specifically states that there are "Free Returns," but obviously that is not true.

Now, I am stuck with a pair of jeans that are too big because I would be charged an additional $7.50 return fee for them. The jeans cost $19.95, so if I return them to get my money back, I will only be getting $5.45 back for them. I shop for almost everything online. I have never had an experience like this with any other company.

I can find plenty of other nice clothes at other shops that do not support the practices of horrible countries who do not respect human life and suffering.

If label says "made in Pakistan" I choose to pass it up. Woman Within won't tell me where their products come from, so I am not buying from them again. If they would post that in the description, I can make a decision. Most of the clothes I have received from them have been cheap and poorly made and sizes see way off way too big.

I didn't see it. The items took forever - literally, as though they were put on the pony express or something. I called a few times to find out where they were, and waited on hold until my phone battery died. Every time. They were untraceable, according to one representative I managed to reach. And, to return the items, which were embarrassingly bad quality even for costume jewelry, I had to ship to that merchant, without any return label. Time to update to 2007, Woman Within.

I ordered 6 items from this company (Yes I got suckered by their "discount" coupons) on 11/19/2014. Five shipped and one was on back order. Upon receiving my shipment and examining the quality of the clothes I realized how great a mistake I had made. The shoes were thin plastic and ill fitting. The sweaters were loosely woven and barely held their shape out of the bag - I can't imagine what they'd be like after a cleaning. The fleece vest fit but when I looked at how much I had paid for (even AFTER the discount) it versus the quality I knew I could find something at least that good at Walmart for less. Disgusted I cancelled the item on back order and packaged everything else up and returned the next day.

Two weeks later I received the credit to my account less $23.49 for shipping and handling. This is utter rubbish when it is perfectly clear that their cheap low quality clothes are so overpriced to start with that even with the discounts they are making plenty off the sale. What gripes me is their attempt to make a profit off the RETURN. Needless to say, I will never do business with this company again and I intend to make my experience known on as many sites as possible to hopefully save someone else some grief.

I ordered 2 pairs of pants and got them at a discount because if I ordered a certain amount then I could get a discount. I paid with PayPal because this was the first time I ever ordered from them & didn't know what kind of company this was. When I finally received the pants I tried them on the same day and found that one pair (even tho they were both the same size) didn't fit. So I called Woman Within back & ask them if I could exchange them & was told that I couldn't exchange them (because of using PayPal) but I could order another pair & charge them on a credit card and then I could return them. I was NEVER told that if I did return only one pant I would be (this is what they called it) "BREAKING THE DEAL".....

Not wanting to order another pair before I was reimbursed of the pair that didn't fit, I decided to return the pant. Waited and waited for my credit to my account & finally today I got a email stating the refund was credit to my account 22 days later. What really upset me was that they only credited me part of the money, short $4 and they charged tax on the amount they credited before any monies was refunded because they said I BROKE THE DEAL. It came out to over $5.00 for what they stole of my money. I have NEVER heard of breaking a deal and being made to pay out more money than what you were charge because you BROKE THE DEAL, then also paying extra tax on something I already paid tax on. UNREAL. And they NEVER even told me this was the way they operated!

I called them up and it was like they get these calls all the time and would not acknowledge me. I told them to take me off all their mailing lists and that I was going to write this review and it went in one ear and out the other. They could care less....that was the whole attitude they had with me when I called tonight. First and last time I will ever order anything from them. I had to make one star but in reality I would NOT advised anyone to order from them or any of their affiliates.

When I received it, it came down to my knees and was at least two inches under each arm too big. Although I ordered two sizes too small it was a minimum of 3 sizes too big for me. I could have worn it as a nightgown. When I wanted to return it they wanted me to pay $7.50 to do so. Ridiculous! I had received 3 blouses from another company the same day. One was too big, one too small. They happily sent me a return form and paid for all shipping. Customer Service at Women Within asked me if I didn't understand I was ordering from a plus size company, very condescending. Of course I did. That's why I ordered the top two sizes too small. There are a number of problems with Woman Within and I only wish I had looked at reviews of them before I spent years purchasing from them. First of all, don't try to rate an item online at less than 3 stars; they will NOT publish the review, they will send you and email telling you how to return it. And don't try to respond to the email, it's not a working address. Secondly, if you DO return an item be prepared for a hefty re-stocking fee -- they aren't up front about this so buyer beware. Thirdly, if you receive an item that is CLEARLY mislabeled or damaged, know that it DOES NOT MATTER to them -- they will charge you a re-stocking fee even if it is ENTIRELY their fault. Pictures of the size discrepancies do NOT matter. And last, but not least, the quality is horrible on many items and shrinkage is usually a given. Look elsewhere for plus sized clothing.

I have been a Woman Within customer for at least 15 years. No more. I canceled our $300.00 order. I will shop with a company that wants my business and values my years of patronage. Recently I placed an order, under my long held account, using a relative's credit card, which had a name and address I had used SEVERAL times in the past. They sent me a confirmation email and then I waited. Ten days later my relative called to say she received a postcard from Woman Within asking her to call. The customer service rep at Woman Within said my order was sent to Customer Protection to verify the credit card, but they sent a card to my relative, taking 10 days without filling the order, as, "there was no email or valid phone number on file."

When I asked why I received a confirmation email but no email about a delay, the rep first said no email was linked to the order and later said their job was to protect the card holder and they did not contact the person who placed the order. (Strangely, the confirmation email was addressed to my relative - although the rep stated there was no email on file for my relative...the rep had no answer for this and told me "this never happens".) After more discussion, the rep stated no one could order at Woman Within and use a different credit card - regardless of the 15 year account history using the same names and addresses. The Customer Protection rep and her supervisor were not apologetic, did not care my order was delayed and did not seem to care whether I canceled the order or not.

I had to ask to make a formal complaint at least 6 times before I was told my complaint about the process would be sent to a customer complaint department. The supervisor kept avoiding my direct question and defending the department's practice, stating my complaints would be "documented in my account." Not helpful. This practice is not helpful either to people who don't have a credit card available or those who ask others to shop for them. I do this often for my relative. Woman Within must lose a lot of business. I have placed orders using my relatives card on many sites through the years. Woman Within has been problematic in the past - shipping is slow and costly, returns are slower and even more costly and the clothing can be cheaply made. I suppose this was my wake up call to quit patronizing a business that cares so little for their customers. A heads up email to say there is a delay in my order would somehow be too effortful or breach security? Yeah.

I ordered a pair of boots. The boots did not fit me accordingly to the dimensions on their website and the quality of the boot was poor. They felt like cheap plastic instead of leather. When I returned them with their label they charged me for the delivery and an additional $9.00 receiving charge. The email I received said nothing about any charges, just that they received my item. I therefore assumed I had a zero balance, come to find out that the next month I had all these charges plus a late fee! While I don't have a problem with where my pants were made, it would have been nice if they would have checked the sizing to see if it was accurate. I am an 18W and what they have labeled as 18W is an 18 regular size. There is about a 3-4 inch difference which is rather embarrassing when going to try to button up a pair of pants. All four pair were the wrong size. When I went to the return site it said I would be charged for the return shipping out of my refund or credit (like I would want to try ordering anything else). I guess it is a stupidity charge for being stupid enough to order anything from a catalog like theirs and expecting it to be what I was wanting when I placed the order. From now on I buy my clothes at the store.

Woman Within is a horrible company with spectacularly incompetent people answering the phones in all areas of the company. They try to nickel and dime you to death with their so called coupons and give-a-ways. And when you try to take advantage of their so called offers, they say "well, that's not what the offer said" or they make up something as they go along, leave right there while you are talking to them and trying to resolve the problem. They never show the shipping or tax until AFTER you key in a "coupon" - because after you use your coupon, your shipping and taxes are much higher than without. They will make that money difference up by any means necessary! I don't even know why they bother to have a "customer service department" because they don't listen to you and they talk over you in an argumentative way while you are talking to them. I then asked them to cancel my order and they refused and said I would have to ship them back (at my expense mind you) and they would waive the return fee. What return fee? This is unacceptable. I should be able to expect an item to arrive in less than 4 weeks, cancel an order any time before it ships and NEVER have to pay a return fee when they couldn't deliver! UNACCEPTABLE!

I recently ordered 3 pairs of jeans, having gotten a $25.00 coupon from them. I ordered the wrong style #, as the jeans that I ordered and the ones that I like are very similar and are the same price. So when I received the jeans today, I realized my mistake and called them to order the ones that I wanted. I was told that they couldn't honor the $25.00 off because the coupon had expired and it was a different style #.. Again even though they are the exact same price!

Also if I sent them back for an exchange, I still wouldn't get the $25.00 off. What really ticks me off is there policy that no sale is ever final and that you have 90 days to return the item for refund or exchange. So because the coupon expired (which what coupon do you know of, where the coupon wouldn't have expired by the time you get the product??), and because the item # is different, they have lost a good customer who will never shop with them again. How stupid on their part.

When I got the first one, they were so huge you could put them on a horse. I sent them back noting the return slip as "too big" and asked for an exchange for a smaller size. I was double-billed on everything I ordered so I had to waste my time calling and getting transferred from one person to another; however, I am still waiting for credits to show on my CC statement. The fabrics are of poor quality - anything with fleece pills after the 1st wash and the cottons stretch in the wrong direction. There is no quality in this company at all. They are affiliated with Roaman's, OneStopPlus, and numerous other companies. Buyers beware: the clothes do not last.

A flat shipping fee of $7.50 to return is charged to you whether you use their UPS label or not, so you might as well use it. What a rip-off! I could have sent the shirt back via post office for $2.00, but I sent it with their UPS label, because they take that amount out of your refund regardless. If I'd used the post office, I would have been charged a total of $9.50. Again, a total rip-off on shipping. Even the shipping fee is way higher than what the items actually cost - they use cheap plastic bags to ship them in.

I'm still dealing with them a month later to try to get my refunds. Watch for double-billing on your credit card statement and keep calling them every few days until you get online and it shows on your CC statement as a credit. I was a very loyal customer of Lane Bryant for far over approximately 30 years. I say this amount because my children, with the youngest one now 38, were youngsters at the time. I worked very hard on trying to keep my payments up. Yes, I fell behind from time to time, but I always got caught up. Well, approximately two years ago, my account was transferred to a Woman Within account. Even before the transfer, any new purchases I made, I would write out a check for the total amount instead of adding to my credit amount. I do this with all orders that I make now because I am up in age, now 81 years old, and I have been trying to pay everything off so that I will not leave a bill for my children when I pass on. With making purchases like this, I would often miscalculate the correct amount and so I would often get small credits or checks from the various companies I was dealing with. With handling my business like this, you would assume that my bills were decreasing instead of increasing.

When Woman Within took over Lane Bryant, I never made another purchase from them because I really did not like what I saw in Woman Within's catalogs. So the only thing that I should have been paying on that account should have been my old Lane Bryant purchases. Well, the bills that I was receiving from Woman Within seemed to never go down. First I thought it was because my payments would often be late because the only income I have is from Social Security and my check would not be in my bank account until the third of the month. Getting frustrated, I wrote them a note trying to explain my situation. I thought maybe they would or could change my due date, but nothing changed. The amount due seemed to be growing more and more and I just could not understand why. I was not making any purchases, so why was my amount due increasing? I finally asked my daughter to see if she could figure out what was going on. She thought it had to be because of the purchases I made. I told her that I never made any purchases and that I was just trying to pay the bill off. It seemed like I should have paid the bill off by now, because, it was not too high.

She saw where there were numerous purchases on my account. I never noticed the purchases because, by fault of my own, I never read the statements. I figured there was no use since I wasn't purchasing anything. I would just tear off the stub and write a check out for whatever amount was due. I should have paid more attention, but I trusted that the bill was correct. Well, with more searching into the mysterious purchases, we found out that Woman Within mistakenly combined my information with the information of another customer. Her name, address and telephone number was similar to mine’s. When this was discovered, I tried to repeatedly tell them that the purchases were not mine. After their first investigation into the matter, they said that the purchases were received by me and it was proven by UPS records. I then went online to UPS and put the tracking number that was given to me from Woman Within onto their page and the only info that UPS gave online was the drop off time, area dropped off, city and state. Well, like I said before, the other customer lived in my same city and state, so of course they (Woman Within) would assume that it was me who received the package.

So, I then called UPS and asked for the exact address that the package was delivered to and they gave me the address of the other customer. I then wrote Woman Within back trying to, yet again, explain to them that I, in fact, did not receive the packages in question. I, again tried to also explain that I had not made any purchases from Woman Within and instead, the only bill that I should have been paying on was my Lane Bryant bill. Finally, one day, after numerous correspondences and telephone calls, I received a letter in February 2009 stating that I was owed $165.80 and my balance was now $0. I really felt that they owed me more, but I was just relieved that the ordeal was over, (so I thought). I even spoke with a representative that stated to me that the bill was finally issued to the correct customer.

The following month, I received a statement with the same purchases that I had disputed, on there. I had to start calling again and a representative verified that the other woman was billed for the purchases and so I responded to her that now they were trying to get a double payment. I had to put my dispute in writing again, and explained this whole ordeal over again, before they would investigate it, yet again. Well, today, May 1, 2009, I received a letter stating that they already applied a credit of $423.83 on 1/19/2009 and as of today, my account balance is $456.94!

I have been fighting this since October 2008 and it seems that no one will really look into this case. I do not know what to do now. I have even thought of going to this woman's house and confronting her, but that could turn ugly. Furthermore, who is to say that she hasn't been paying this same bill, too. So, I don't know if this is also a case of fraud, but I do know that I have been paying for clothes that I have never seen or purchased. I need help. I think I need a lawyer, but my Social Security check barely pays my way as it is. Can someone help me or at least point me in the right direction?

I first applied for a Lane Bryant catalog and credit card. They then sent a woman within catalog which I had ordered several items. Later they asked if I would fill out a survey for them for discounts on products. A few weeks later I found a $14.95 charge on my bank statement for UMG money ahead. I said I did not ask for this. The bank said it came from a woman within survey I completed. This was in fine print that I never noticed. I was furious. I called to cancel every thing I have through Lane Bryant, Woman Within & all catalogs and accounts. This is so bogus. No physical damage, I was just amazed at how crooked companies work. I will never deal with them again!

First off...this phone number is the one that they put in the letter for contacting them...it is a number for Dell that is no longer in service! Anyway, I have been trying to close this account since September, 2007. I had always paid my bill online, but about every 5-6 months, I couldn't get in to pay the bill, which went to having to call to make payment by phone, which was a $10.00 charge for paying by phone.

I got tired of doing this, so cut up card, made out a check for 2 months payments and sent it in with a letter requesting the account be closed! I thought everything was ok until I got a paper bill in and it was saying I owed $101.00 About this time I was applying for a loan; at that time I was told that it was showing up on my credit report that I had all of these marks against me for not paying! The guy that I was getting the loan through, suggested that they cut a check for the $101.00 and just pay it off. OK, so now this is 2 times they have been "paid off". I wrote a pretty nasty letter to mail in with the check. Finally I heard back from them. The first letter said that their records showed that the account had been closed on 10/16/07, and also this is the letter they gave me the phone number, (that is no good).

I also got another letter from them saying that as of 5/24/08, my balance is $22.43 with a credit limit of 0. I guess my complaint is that if an account is closed, why does my balance keep going up and WHY do I have to keep paying this balance? I have talked to my attorney about this and he suggested first to do the complaint filings with the credit agencys, as well as with anything I can file a complaint with.
