A few months ago, I bought a firm Slumber Solutions mattress from Overstock. I haven't had a good night's sleep since and my back hurts pretty bad for the first hour or so every morning. Thinking that a softer version might be better, I ordered another one yesterday in the "medium" version, but then had second thoughts. So, this morning (less than 24 hours later) I tried to cancel the order but they will not let me. They say it has already shipped. Now I feel like I've thrown away another several hundred dollars on a sub-standard product. I will not ever buy anything at Overstock again.

Ordered a rug from Overstock. After receiving a shipping confirmation I waited a week until I called customer service about the fact that FedEx tracking stated they never had their hands on the package. Customer service said not to worry and call back the next week if it didn't update. I called back the next week and was told that I would be emailed once the warehouse was contacted (it was after 17:00 on the US east coast). I never received an email but was informed the next day by another rep that a "trace" had been placed on the package. How a trace was placed on something that never shipped, I don't know. After some back and forth was able to convince him to send a replacement. Alas, it was out of stock. I took a full refund and the rep was not even slightly surprised when I told him he was helpful but I would never shop Overstock again.

Bottom line: could only have been worse if I had lost my money.

They have sent me stained one (photo attached) and can't assembled cause which was returned by another customer that was not packed well. They did not even check it before sending it to me. Me and my wife wasted few hrs trying to assemble the damaged one. When I called the CS it took 1 hrs and the Manager accept to send Green one in a week. The promised one did not arrive for a week. Back and forth in email and spoke to her again. Totally not happy. I am returning it and buy the same bar stool at half the price at Amazon.com.

I bought a set of white bar stools from Overstock.com. The service was a great disappointment. I saw this product on another website for almost half the price, about two hours later after ordering. I tried to cancel, I was told by overstock.com I was too late, plus I would have to pay for shipment to return the product. Then when I received the stools the package was torn, the stools were dirty, with stains that I can't remove, plus the screws were missing. Overstock.com, I work hard for my money! A year ago I ordered a sheet set and I got the wrong product, therefore I should have learn my lesson. No more overstock.com for me!!

Beware if ordering from Overstock.com. They took 6 weeks to deliver the merchandise, then substituted a cheaper item. Because it took 6 weeks to arrive, the price guarantee Overstock.com offers did not apply. After 30 minutes dealing with the online rep, he informed me that all the company would do is offer a $15 credit towards my next order. The $15 doesn't even cover the price difference between what I paid for and what I was sent, let alone the aggravation. Nor would they offer to pay for the return of the items that were sent that weren't what I ordered. A $15 credit! Like I would ever shop there again.

I ordered a $170 suitcase and was charged twice for it. I talked to customer support and I explained my situation, sent in the double invoices I received, the 10-second time difference in between, and showed them exactly how I was charged twice. All I got was "According to us, you weren't charged twice." And when I obviously wanted to know what I should do about the situation, all I got was, "Well, according to us you really weren't billed twice." Ok. I sent you the time stamps, the double orders, and the invoices. And the only solution you can tell me is that I was hallucinating and wasn't charged twice. Thanks Overstock for your customer service. Will never order from you again.

Let me begin by saying all the customer service individuals I've spoken with over the past 3 months have been truly helpful. However, this company has a SEVERE communication problem between its shipping/returns/payment departments. This needs to be addressed within their corporate system. I bought a table & chair set in February, for ~$500. The set came missing 2 small pieces necessary to complete 2 of the 4 chairs. We emailed with the exact description of the parts as per the instruction manual contained in the boxed set. Overstock sent the wrong parts. I contacted Overstock about the mistake, they said their replacement parts warehouse did not carry the individual pieces any longer, but they could send us another ENTIRE table set (3 separate 35 lb boxes). We were to remove our two small pieces and then return the 3 large boxes. However, when we returned the boxes, the returns department never logged it, though the UPS tracking information said "Packages were left at loading dock."

I contacted customer service to inform them of this (they were threatening to charge me for the cost of a table that was sitting in their returns warehouse), and the woman said that the issue was fixed and my card would not be charged. When I checked my credit card balance today I saw that two days after my phone call (~1 week ago) my credit card WAS charged for ~$500. I called customer service AGAIN and was assured this charge would be removed, along with apologies for the mistakes. We are human, the company is run by humans and therefore is subject to human error. However, THIS level of incompetence and ignorance in one single order is unacceptable. I am informing everyone I know or come into contact with about the unreliability and inconsistency in this company as a whole, I will continue to discourage friends and family from purchasing from them in the future.

I wanted to order a specific type of queen size pillow (Restonic) and needed the dimensions. Since Overstock.com only showed the dimensions for the Standard and King size pillows, but not the Queen size, I contacted customer service. I received an email from them the next day. Well, it seems Restonic doesn't even make a queen size pillow. But, Overstock lists their prices as $44.99 for King, $35.99 for Standard, and $42.29 for QUEEN size. So.....if you order a Queen size for $42.29 you might get a King size and end up with a deal....but then again....if they choose to send you a Standard size, you are being taken for $6.30. Deceitful.

I was in a rush to order a kitchen sink, not realizing that local merchants did not have my hard-to-find 30" in stock. I ordered from Overstock.com because the posted delivery date for a Tuesday order date was the following Monday. As soon as I ordered, a notification stated that the delivery estimate was Wednesday, not Monday. I called and the customer service representative said it "possibly" might get there on Wednesday. There was no expedited shipping available for an extra fee and I couldn't cancel the order. She said the normal order takes 7 to 10 days. Maybe. Maybe not. If Overstock misrepresents its shipping date, why would I trust any of its other representations? I will not shop here again.

When I had placed an order for a gift to be sent - it did not give me the option of express shipment so that worried me a bit though it did specify that the free ground shipping would take between 5-10 days delivery. I stumbled across this site and found that there were many negative reviews regarding their shipment process and it gave me major anxiety so I kept checking the status of my order. It was actually faster than I had anticipated. Ordered the gift on March 11, shipment began on the 13th and is out for delivery on the 15th in the same state.

DO NOT USE OVERSTOCK.COM. They are liars. On March 1, 2014, I placed an order on their website for refurbished iPads and it was listed as new ad. Apparently, the price they had on their website for over 12 hours was incorrect. I kept checking to see if the price would change and it did not for over 12 hours. So I thought, "wow, this must be like a Deal of the Day that like Amazon has." Well, it turns out they put the price incorrectly on their page (price still is on website what I paid) and now are asking all the clients who purchased these items to just be fine w/ the fact that they SCREWED UP FOR OVER HALF A DAY MIND YOU. If they had outstanding client service and customer service, they would honor the price on the website which is still listed as the price I paid, but now they've added that THEY ARE OUT OF STOCK though.

I JUST FIND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE TERRIBLE. Companies should honor what they have on their websites. WATCH OUT FOR THEM. I think that their customer service is AWFUL..... I WILL NEVER EVER BUY ANOTHER THING FROM THEM. The proper thing is to honor the price that was on the website and remained on the website as you are calling me to tell me we changed the price to reflect the right amount.

Bought a rug from Overstock a few days ago for my daughter's birthday. They advertised it, in BIG RED LETTERS, as 94% off and said there was only one left. It was indeed a remarkable price and I quickly bought it, received a confirmation, and felt delighted with the deal. A day later Overstock sent me an email canceling my order "due to a pricing error" and said they were giving me $10 in Club O dollars for my inconvenience. When I called Customer Service, they said they would not honor the sale, but I could buy it @ regular price ....when I asked how much that was, I was told that it didn't really matter anyway, because that size was no longer available, but they did have the next larger size in stock! So what happened to the original one I purchased? If I purchased the last one and it was no longer listed on their site, where did it go? Then they said they might be able to give me $50 in Club O dollars if I bought the larger rug at regular price! Who does business like this??? Classic Bait-and-Switch! Shame on them!

On Thursday, January 23, 2014 I accessed Overstock.com at approximately 6:30 am and discovered some amazing prices on clearance rugs. I quickly purchased three. To be honest, the prices were almost too good to be true, but knowing how e-commerce can clean inventory I just thought I had accessed at a great time. By 5:30 pm I was e-mailing corporatesecurity@pge.com to notify them of a phishing e-mail. The only purchase that day had been to Overstock.com for these rugs. PGE is Pacific Gas and Electric (I live on the East Coast). If you go to their website, you'll see an e-mail alert scam. I notified them not only of the phishing but of my purchase from Overstock.com. By today (1/24/2014), Overstock.com cancelled my order due to a "pricing error".

At 1:17 pm today, I e-mailed Overstock to notify them, that while legally they don't have to uphold their advertised price, by better business practices they should uphold their advertised price, but more importantly if they had a 'breach' with pricing did this error result in what could be an attempt at identify theft. As of 6:30 pm I have had no response. Fortunately, I knew enough to delete this phishing attempt, but my concern is did Overstock contribute to this phishing? Were other customers not so fortunate and are now dealing with repairing a breach in accounts? Overstock should be made to be more accountable for their own error (if this pricing error was internal) or accountable if this error was external. More importantly, have other customers been adversely affected? Class action?

My ring was one of those as it stated EXTRA 10% off in corner of photo of the ring. I put ring in my cart and the price today was now $215.99. My link to the website had activated a 12% off coupon & that having been activated they put the EXTRA 10% off back on the price of the ring. When I called they stated I could not stack coupons. I was not stacking coupons as I had only 1 coupon to use. THEY were offering the extra 10% off as a promotion. They said that promotion was "like a coupon" so I could use one or the other. Don't advertise the price of something on your promotion and tell me I can't use the coupon you emailed me unless it clearly states "No further discounts allowed" which it did not.

I will not shop Overstock.com again as they now appear to be a somewhat questionable website as well as unethical and bogus. Their promo is NOT "like a coupon" it is their PROMO.

So I inquire about it to customer service... Then Overstock sent me an email to tell me that due to an inventory problem, my item may have not been shipped! It said it was in stock when I ordered... and now ten days after I ordered it now they say it's not in stock. I am very upset with the way Overstock handles orders. I even called yesterday to confirm that both of my items were shipped and the worker said yes they were... so upset!

To put the cherry on top of the cake, after I got the email, I ended up talking to a customer service rep and he said my items WERE shipped... I began telling him how would they be shipped when I got that email, he had me copy and paste the email to the chat. He says he does not know if my one item was shipped or not, then he began telling me I could order something else in the meantime. LOL. They all need to get on the same page. Worst experience with online shopping I've ever had.

Extremely negative experience!! I recently received my shipment for the Barbara Soft Black Tufted Upholstered Queen Size Bed Item#: 13977701 (order # **). After unpacking and spending a good 2 hrs on assembling the bed I found that the metal legs were crushed and bent. I was extremely disappointed to note that the box in which legs shipped had no signs of transit damage, other items in same box were perfectly ok. This totally meant that Overstock shipped the parts defective from their warehouse.

I had no way to un-assemble the parts and pack them up for return. I chatted with Overstock reps and expected they would help me with return & full refund or a reasonable partial refund. It was embarrassing that the chat rep offered me a partial refund of $15 on a $400 bed and $620 total bill amount. When I mentioned that the refund amount is ridiculous, he started negotiating the refund and went to $30 and finally up to $50. I said that I expect at least a 20% refund which amounted to $80 but the rep refused and said $50 is best he can offer. I have no options but to accept it. However I am extremely pissed at this unprofessional approach Overstock has had. I would ensure I do not go back to Overstock and won’t recommend any of my friends as well.

Byers beware! This is the first time I had to return an item to Overstock.com. What a horrible and humiliating experience obtaining an authorization to return an unused with all the tags attached and shipping box intact, $350 handbag (made in China!) that was shipped to me less than 2 weeks ago and that I received only a week ago! May I mention here as well that the reason for the return is poor quality of the product and misrepresentation from the description on the website?

In order to get RMA # I had to spend nearly an hour on the online chat with two different customer service reps. At first, after chatting for about 25 minutes with the first rep and answering all his questions about my identity and condition of the bag/tags, etc. I was told that a special department will call me back in a day or two (?!). When I asked for escalation, all of a sudden, 10 minutes later, there was no need to wait for a special department to get back to me in a day or two, but another rep took over the chat and this is where the humiliation started. All the original questions were asked again, even after the rep took 10 minutes to read through the chat with the first rep, about the condition of the bag (hello?!) and many more questions including siting the return policy and giving me warnings that if tags/condition is not up to par, I won’t get my money back. Seriously?!

Frankly I felt like I was being treated like a criminal trying to unlawfully return a used item when the bag has been sitting on my fancy dresser just for a few days while I was trying to get through the online cumbersomeness in attempt to obtain a return authorization and a shipping label (wasn't possible for a $350 poor quality bag made in China?!). No shipping label for me I guess, and I have to pay out of my own pocket for the return shipping. Never again, ever never, Overstock! I'll take my money to Zappos and Bluefly where customers are treated respectfully and with regard to their time and convenience.

I corrected them saying that it should be way more than one box. They said thanks and scheduled my shipment which I had to take off work to received. Last week the shippers showed up and pulled two boxes off the truck. When I asked where the rest of it was they called back and found out that it was still sitting at the shippers. They apologized and said they would bring the rest of it out. This required me to take off more time from work to be home to receive it. I was left a voicemail by the shipper yesterday giving me a 4 hour window when it should arrive (between 9 am and 1pm). After 1 I still have not received anything.

I called Overstock customer service to complain. They said that the shipper was close by and that they could offer me $60 as compensation. Really? $60 bucks for a $1500 item and missing 1 1/2 days of work? I emailed the board of directors listed on their website and soon received a call. The compensation now was up to $310 but I still missed work and still haven't received my shipment. $310 does not make up for missing that much work. Then I got a phone call from the shipping company asking what exactly I was missing. Really again? If you guys are shipping it and scheduled it shouldn't you know what you're bringing? It is now 2:30 pm and I still have nothing, even though I was told that the delivery driver was really close to my location. I will never do business with Overstock again. I asked why it would be late and Jacob ** said that the guaranteed date was Sears', not theirs. And it would definitely be here by the 11th. I rescheduled the electrician. Then I got a phone call from the delivery company (there were 4 companies involved - Sears, Overstock, the freight company and the delivery company). They said they were confirming it would be delivered on the 18th. And that it would be left at the front door. I pointed out that it was due on the 11th and the agreement in writing said it would be delivered to the spot and unpacked. Nope she said. I contacted Overstock. The woman said it would be delivered to the nearest door and up to us to unpack.

My husband phoned Overstock and they said the original agreement was correct. On the 18th, half an hour into the delivery period, they phoned to say they weren't coming because one person couldn't handle it (800-lb. tub) and Overstock hadn't told them it was heavy and authorized extra people. Electrician turned up and was quite unhappy... Phoned Overstock. They said they'd authorize the extra staff and gave us some money back to pay call out charges for electrician and for grief. Rearranged for 24th. They turned up in a truck too big for our drive (we'd told them they'd got down our drive before but had since bought a bigger truck). It drove into a tree so money left from paying the electrician will need to go to a tree surgeon. They brought it in, unpacked it - and there was a large gash in the base. I took a picture, they put it in place and left. Sent the pic to Overstock who robot emailed me back saying I wasn't authorized to send them pictures. They would respond in 24 hours.

5 days later, I phoned. "We got your report but the warehouse hasn't responded - what do you want us to do?" How on earth do I know how serious it is and what consequences there might be? He said he'd chase it up and get back to me. That was 3 days ago. Yesterday, I sent an email to ask what was happening. Zilch. I didn't choose Overstock nor would I ever. Hell will freeze over first.

I would HIGHLY recommend NOT buying from Overstock.com for several reasons. We are currently living in Spain and purchased a few home furnishings from this company because they stated they could handle international shipping. They lure you in with decent prices, but the devil is in the details:

Time estimates for delivery are a complete joke. They promised a week, and it took nearly three. Not even close. How do they respond when we inquired? "Um, sorry I guess." Why even have shipping estimates if there is no penalty for not keeping them? In addition, the Overstock shipping personnel are clearly not versed in international shipping and customs requirements. Every-single-item was stopped at Spanish customs for lack of proper paperwork. Amazon.com, Apple, and eBay seem to have this figured out but not Overstock. The real killer was their vast overcharging on shipping and fees. One of the items we ordered was a $32 pillow. Overstock tacked on a $36 dollar "handling charge" and a $150 shipping charge?!! It's a pillow. It weighs nothing. Turns out they sent it FedEx Overnight. (Who does that?)

Naturally, all complaints and inquiries were answered with, "sorry, nothing we can do." Their greed and lack of common sense just cost them a customer of life. You've been warned.

I purchased a pair of Tabeez Palazzo pants from Overstock.com about 45 days ago in a 1X. I received them about a week later. They shipped me an XL and were some off brand that was not advertised on their site; plus, they were more like a medium. I tried to give them to my mother, who wears a large, and she couldn't even fit into them. Therefore, I sent the pants back "refused, return to sender," and I contacted Overstock.com. I had to explain the problem about three times with an online chat rep before she understood the problem I was having. She assured me that they would credit my account and I would not be responsible for shipping, since it was their fault. Almost two weeks later, I still had not been credited for the return; therefore, I disputed the charge with my credit card company.

I finally received an e-mail from Overstock.com stating they had refunded my credit card on 05/17/2013, but they failed to credit the full amount. They still charged me for shipping. I e-mailed them back, reiterating this was their fault and that I had written confirmation they planned on crediting my account. I received an e-mail back from a CSR stating if it was their fault and they would credit my card. About 24 hours later, I received an e-mail from another CSR stating that they would not refund the shipping, but also once again failing to take into account that it was their fault, he stated they would not credit my charge because I disputed the charge with my credit card company.

This should be irrelevant since once they post the credit, my credit card company will take the charge out of dispute status, and they also will not credit me twice, since this would be an extremely poor accounting procedure to do so. I e-mailed Overstock again, now threatening to report them to the BBB of Utah, which I have done. I will not do business with them again, because their communication is lousy. They are completely disorganized and the products they sell are not as advertised. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I called back (within 30 minutes) and was told it could not be cancelled as the order was already processed to ship. I asked if there was anything they could do to stop it from shipping and they said no, and could not give me any advice on what I could do if I no longer wanted the item. I then refused the shipment so the item would be returned, and yesterday I received notice that I would be refunded all but the shipping cost of $150. Severe lack of Quality Care and Customer Service: This is an exhaustive and long story. Have a seat and get ready. I placed my initial order on June 15, 2012 (Order #: **) for the Royal Tahiti 2-seater storage trunk bench. The item was shipped via FedEx and received in severely damaged condition on June 21, 2012. Part of the bench was sticking out of the box. Most of the box was open before I saw it. The box was left at my door with me not there to accept or inspect it. I demanded that O.co pick up the damaged item the next day! They wanted me to hold it for 10 days until they picked it up. I told them absolutely not since I live in a studio apartment.

On June 22nd, the second attempt to deliver this item was set up (Order # **). The second box was received on June 27, 2012. I opened the box and checked every item (bench parts and hardware) to ensure all required items were in the box. I checked against the paper they include in their shipment. They didn't include the hardware for me to assemble the storage bench! I immediately called O.co back and demanded that they send me the hardware by no later than Saturday, June 30. The main reason I ordered this bench was to accommodate some arriving company that was going to be at my home on Sat, June 30th!

The warehouse for the hardware subsequently shipped a box via FedEx for delivery Friday, June 29th. The warehouse wrote the wrong address on the box so I spent most of my afternoon and early evening tracking this box down to find out if I had to pick it up from the FedEx hub in lower Manhattan! The box wound up being redelivered to my correct address. It is inexcusable that they got my address incorrect! When I opened the box, checked the contents against the original packing slip, the warehouse still didn't include all of the necessary hardware! This is where I have to say are you ** kidding me?! I immediately call O.co back again. I spoke to a night supervisor named Chris and brought him up to speed on this epic mess that they have continued. Of course now, my arriving company will have no place to rest, sit, etc. as the warehouse is closed for the weekend and I won't know when I will receive the correct hardware until Monday, July 2nd.

It's now July 2nd and I had to call O.co back (mind you they should be calling me at this point in time!), to emphasize that they must get these missing items to me by tomorrow morning. Today, I spoke to supervisor, Jamie ** and she contacted the warehouse. The warehouse had the nerve to tell her they sent me everything. I re-emphasized that they did not include everything or I would not be wasting my hours with them! I told them to look at their own document and make sure they get it right. They confirmed that they didn't send me the hinges for the bench or the screwdriver that should have been included based on the sheet that came with the shipment. They now have the hinges and screwdriver set up for yet another delivery for July 3, 2012. I told the O.co rep not to update the status of this issue unless and until I call them back to let them know the outcome.

In short, I have to say that this has been the most horrendous customer service experience that I have ever had with any company! With the lack of quality check, quality care and customer service, I have spent far too much of my time and energy on this. At this point in time, I feel that I should not have to pay one penny for this bench and they should refund me my entire cost of $344.95! I plan to send Overstock.com (O.co) company executives a letter outlining the horrendous experience I had and suggest some things they should immediately implement to help alleviate and avoid this in the future. I appreciate if an attorney will contact me around my complaint.

Well, ok, why didn't they contact me? Either way, I was highly upset and told them to please fix the error! He said he understood and if I would keep the amp, I would get a complete refund. I even questioned what he said. "You're going to give me a refund if I keep the amp that was sent to me in error?" "Yes" I was told. Ok, I was ok with that and was told I would receive the refund within 2 business days. Ok, I waited two weeks and nothing.

So, I contacted them again and the lady asked me if I had returned the item... umm, no, I was asked if I kept the original error that they sent, they would refund me for their error and she said "no." I checked the status again today, 12/22 and the status had not changed. I called and reached another customer service rep. She said that she would contact the warehouse and call me back 20 minutes later. I called the customer service number an hour later and reached another service rep. I asked for the previous service rep that promised to call me back--there were no notes on the account and the customer service rep said she had never heard of the person I had spoke to earlier. This service rep told me there was nothing we could do.

I called the service department once again, one hour later, to work toward resolution. I was able to connect with the original customer service rep that I was waiting to hear from and she informed me that it was a hand made item that was made to order and that they were not in the warehouse due to their custom nature, and that "my" product was going to be made for "me"; therefore, it would not be shipped for 10 days. She did do something nice and offer me $10 of in store credit. She said if I decided to cancel the order I could call her back. I agreed and hung up reluctantly. I shopped for five minutes and found the same product on Amazon.com with an option for 2-day shipping. I called the customer service number once again, reached a different customer service rep who informed me that cancelling my order was not an option because the order had gone through to the warehouse. Wait a second--I thought it had not even been made yet. I asked to be connected to the original rep and did not care how long I had to hold.

Ten minutes later I was connected to the original customer service rep who back tracked and said that they magically had found it in the warehouse (yeah, the custom made thing was **) and they would ship it as soon as possible but she would remove my instore credit that she had so graciously given me "for all the trouble". If my item is not delivered by noon tomorrow, I will call once again to cancel my order and demand a full refund come hell or high water. I've been jacked around for a week now and have yet to get a straight answer from anyone. I'll never shop O.co again and will forever be a loyal Amazon customer.

Upon receipt of the merchandise, it turned out that the product was made in China, not USA. Their customer service representative was helpful in instructing me about the return procedures; however, it is still upsetting to order something under false pretense.

One of them doesn't work and the second takes no longer than 5 minutes before cutting off, they don't connect to WiFi unless you are sitting right at the router. Also you can't 'work'.

I paid $99 plus tax for each and they knew they didn't work, which was why they were so cheap! As I took them out of the country, they say the warranty is void. Isn't the whole purpose of having a handheld device so that you can travel with it?

I was told that since the order was not processed, there would be no funds removed from my account. However, they took the money from my account alright. When I contacted them, the representative told me that it would take 24-48 hours at the most for the charges to drop off and for the funds to be redeposited into my account. The refund was never issued. Every time I called, I was told the same thing. Eight days later, they are telling me that they have just submitted the forms to cancel the order. This was only because they "escalated it to their special claims department. " As I was told, I should have seen the funds by 6pm today or so, but it's not there.

I recently purchased and returned a London Fog raincoat from Overstock.com, order no. **. Upon receiving the coat, I opened the package. I tried the coat on, walked around in it for a minute or two to see how it felt. It was too small in the chest so I folded it back up as best I could and put it back in the shipping envelope that it came in with so that I could take it to UPS to be returned and credited to my account. The cost of the coat was $102.99.

On 24 January 2011, I received an email from them saying that I would receive a credit of $43.18 to my charge account. They were reducing the amount of my return by $51.50 saying that the coat was not being returned to stock because of hair. I was quite confused and called Customer Service to see what the problem was. I talked to someone named Brooke and explained what I just said above. She asked me if I had any dogs, to which I replied, "I have two small dogs.” She suggested that next time I run a lint-roller over the coat or merchandise before returning it. She also told me that I would be refunded by $51.50. So, the conversation ended and I was pleased with the outcome. The next day, I come home from work, check my email, and there is another note from Overstock.com stating that I would not be receiving a refund for the $51.50 because it was against company policy to refund merchandise that had been "opened" and damaged. First of all, how do you try on a coat if you don't open the package? Second of all, that coat was not damaged to which I would testify to in court if I had to. I looked at the pictures that they sent and zoomed in to see the "damage.” I saw a fairly long white hair (my dog is black and white), and maybe a shorter hair or two. That is all I could make out. So, now the coat is damaged? How do I know that those hairs were not on that coat when it shipped from Overstock.com.

I think that Overstock.com is being totally unfair, unjust, unethical, dishonest, and deceptive. Really, how do you not open a package? Right there, that is grounds to not be refunded! Economically, I try to spend money very wisely. My husband has not worked full time for the past two years because of the downturn in the economy. I saw a London Fog raincoat at what I thought was a good price, never dreaming that I would have any sort of problem trying to return it. This is the first time in my life that I have ever had any kind of hassle with a return. I will never order anything from this company again and I’m advising everyone that I come into contact with to do the same.

I understand the need to hold back on some amount for restocking, etc., but to keep 2/3 of my money is nothing other than a sneaky way to make income so they can continue the appearance of being a great bargain place on the front end (when you buy). I recommend steering clear of Overstock.

I stopped in to Overstock for their "Grand Opening" 70% off sale in early March and ended up ordering a living room set, dining room set, floor lamp, 10x13 carpet and dresser. To be fair, I had a change of heart about 3 days later and went in to change the style furniture that I originally ordered. The folks were pleasant and helpful and didn't mind that I was changing my order. There was some back and forth with the store regarding pieces that weren't in stock or discontinued, etc. Each time I made a change.

At one point, I changed the order to two ivory ** carpets instead of one multicolored carpet and a few days later, they called me to say that the carpets were discontinued. At that point, I requested a refund and only after calling back a month later after noticing that I wasn't given a refund did they process it. When the delivery came the deliveryman couldn't get one of the sofas into my condominium building. He said it was too large. I am not a professional but in my opinion it was no larger than the sofa that I previously owned or the sectional that my neighbors had. Regardless, I asked him to give me a measurement of the sofa as well as a measurement of the largest size I should buy. He told me the sofa I purchased was 91 inches and it shouldn't be larger than 85. Fair enough. Additionally, in that delivery the cocktail and end tables that I ordered were broken, so they had to take those back. This is when the nightmare really began.

I contacted Aziz at Overstock and asked him for a similar sofa but in the required size of 85 inches. He said he would check and call me back the following morning. I never did hear from him again. After two or three days, I went back to Overstock and asked Aziz to help me select something that was already in their warehouse so that I wouldn't have to wait the extra weeks for them to "special order" it. He said he couldn't help me but that the warehouse manager Kevin could assist me. I called the next day and spoke with Kevin and he said there was a great set in stock that was 83 inches, can I come and look at it. I went and it was not my style at all, so I told him I would look on their website. I selected several items from their website that I liked but each time they didn't know the sofa, whether or not they could get it anymore, how much it was, etc. etc. I even tried to walk them through the website to direct them and they couldn't find it. I went back to the store with the broad requirements of a brown contemporary sofa under 85".

Still they were unable to meet my request. Finally, I asked for a refund but was told that nothing could be done because it was store policy to only provide a store credit. I asked to speak with the manager and was told that the only person who could provide me a store credit would be back on Tuesday after Memorial Day. Tuesday came and I called them and nothing had been done. Then I was told that the manager Mohammad was out of the country and wouldn't return until mid-June. This was June 1st. I told them that this was unacceptable to not have a manager on site to assist with customer issues. Then Kevin said he would call "them" to see what he could do. I asked who he was referring to and he could not give me the name or information saying that it was private. I asked Kevin to contact "them" and give them my information so that they could call me and he said he couldn't do that. All the while referring to the "store policy". Another issue with Overstock is that they have no answering service and 80% of the time when you call there is an automated message to call back later. They don't return your calls and they don't answer your calls. The entire operation is frustrating and shady.

The first purchase through the Overstock.com was made on February 10th by Marcus ** throughout the American Express Card. It was a Valentine's gift for Olga **. Order number is: **; Order Summary: 11069587 -14k White Gold Ruby and 1/4ct TDW Diamond Necklace delivered by Feb. 13th, 1 for $329.99; 10760932 -14k White Gold Emerald 1/6 ct TDW Diamond Earrings delivered by Feb. 13th, 1 for $207.98.

When Olga got the presents on 13th of February, she was pretty surprised with the real sizes and the fact that one of the earrings was broken; also it wasn't nice but she still was very happy to get a gift from her friend. The chain for the diamond necklace was too small and she brought it together with the broken earring to the jeweler for fixing on what the jeweler said the diamonds were very bad quality and yellow color that will not shine and the chain was not 14k as was claimed in her order and over the website. It was silver.

Olga got very upset and disappointed. She called the Overstock.com customer service on February 18th but decided to not make a refund but just exchange those items for the right ones as a website agent was pretty convincing when explained that it was a mistake of one of the employees who were wrapping the jewelry. After making the return claim and getting instructions on sending the items through the UPS or FedEx services, the representative explained that when the package will be wrapped, Olga just had to attach the receipt for shipping expenses and it was going to be applied back on her credit card.

On February 19th, Olga spent $28.84 on shipping and the mailman included the receipt in the box. It was shipped to the Overstock.com then. Olga got an email on February 26th from Customer Care Returns of Overstock.com with confirmation of received jewelry items and that it would take a few days to proceed. The expenses for shipping were never applied back on her credit card and the items were shipped to her without any notification or confirmation. Olga found those pieces outside of her house by the main door under the mailbox approximately on March 3rd. The earrings were in a good condition, but the chain had the same issues again. It was yellow diamonds of bad quality, and a short silver chain even if the invoice called it 14k gold.

While Olga still had all the trust to the Overstock.com company and made another jewelry purchase with her Chase bank debit card on February 25th as a gift for her mother who came to US on 1st of Match. Order number is **. Order Summary: 11165949 - Silver Smokey Quartz/ Citrine/ Garnet Necklace by ground, 1 for $54.99; 11738332- Sterling Silver Genuine Blue Sapphire Cross Necklace by ground, 1 for $49.99; 10450783 14k Gold over Silver Cubic Zirconia Earrings by ground, 1 for $19.99. Olga got those purchases on the 27th and 28th of February.

But after not getting the right necklace again, Olga asked for refund for this item from the company on March 16th, 2009. The representative agreed and offered her paid shipping label that she could use for return promising to take care of another shipping refund that had to be applied back on her credit card. Olga didn't have a receipt because she had already enclosed it to the right package upon request. Not hearing back from the company, Olga made another phone call approximately on March 18th asking for shipping refund. They answered that they never had a receipt and that if she would have one now, they could do something about it. She asked for refund for all other jewelries for a reason of not knowing how real it was now and that she lost her trust and wanted to make a return, but the agent stated it cannot be accepted because Olga's reason had no sense.

She is looking forward to take actions towards right decision but she really doesn't know what is the right thing to do. Thank you for all the help and support.

I found online a King 11-inch pillow top innerspring mattress-in-a-box. I did not know if the frame came with that so I clicked on the chat box provided by the company. The agent responded that it did not include a frame and directed me to another product, and inferred that this is what I might be interested in. I even questioned the shipping price ($2.95). I was buying this as a gift for a family member that has just relocated. I ordered. When it arrived, it was only the frame with head board/foot board and no mattress or foundation, which is what I was most interested in purchasing (mattress/foundation and frame). I immediately went online and got in a chat room with an agent. She only said that this item did not include a mattress or box spring.

I want to return this since it was not what I said I was ordering and now I've got to go shopping for a mattress and box spring. I told the agent that I had learned a good lesson from ordering from Overstock.com. I asked for help to find what I wanted and this is what I got. I then said I need to speak to a supervisor. After several minutes, I said now! She said to give her a few minutes while she checks with her supervisor. I said, "Give me a phone number." No response so I shouted again, "now!" She then came on the line with a long explanation of how and when to call. I called immediately. She asked if I wanted to return the item and speak to her supervisor. I said yes.

She then said her supervisor said it could be returned with no shipping charge. I said $2.95 (which is what I paid for shipping)? By this time, I have a supervisor on phone. She asked me if I had a copy of the chat. I said, "Don't you have it?" She said she would check with the chat supervisor and would contact me when it was located. She called the next day, faxed it to me and agreed that it appeared I had been misled by the original agent. She said she could send a mattress and box spring like I expected, but then she said her supervisor could only give a $150.00 credit. I said, "Let me speak to him." He said he would refund for the original and give the credit. I said I did not want that; I wanted the bed I thought I bought and was told by an agent that I would receive it. Then I said, "Let me speak to your supervisor."

He got someone on the phone (my opinion is that they just pass the phone around to each other than giving a real supervisor). I told him I expected a mattress/foundation and frame, which I thought I had bought. I asked for his extension so I could get him if I needed to call back. This guy said he had no extension yet so I could reach him. He said he couldn't send the mattress/foundation, so I asked for his supervisor. He has never called back. I called again and spoke with the only person who was able to give me an extension. I told her that I needed the mattress/foundation and frame, that I didn't need the head/foot that the original agent wrongly recommended. She said she would do what she could and would call back in 20 minutes.

One hour later, she called and said she could not find a warehouse open on the holiday (Good Friday), but that she would get one overnighted to me on Monday.

After hiring a plumber to install it, he realized that parts were missing as well. I called and requested a new fixture be sent overnight at their expense to me. Angela stated this was not possible and it would take 1-2 days for the warehouse to see if they had the missing parts or a parts list. I explained the urgency of this, we need a functioning sink with a family to feed. The customer service was terrible. When I called on Monday the customer service rep (whose name I do not have b/c she sent me an email with a man's name on the signature) was so rude and inflexible that I decided to return the entire fixture. I will never do business with this company again. The product was not as advertised and the experience was horrendous.

When you attempt to return the items, they will kindly inform you that you need to cough up $5.00 on every item. Their clothes are probably in overstock because the labels are misprinted... the clothes are really really small, yet the label says L. I don't see why I should be responsible to pay shipping to multiple places when I ordered it from ONE place!!! I should be able to send this back to one place and have them pay the cost of returning it to multiple warehouses... not having one warehouse is not my problem.. why should I be charged for it!!!

Purchased 2 down pillows online as king. Received 2 pillows for $69.99 each that were neither std nor king. They were an inbetween size. Called as soon as they were received. I was told I had to reorder new ones at my expense and they would send document for shipping back. The customer service rep didn't talk to me at all about the return. The pillows didn't fit my cases so I didn't want them. I ordered new King pillows at the same price so my credit card was hit twice. I packaged up the incorrect std pillows and waited. My new pillows arrived and were fine so I sent back the wrong ones.

After a week I received an email that I was only receiving credit for $69.99 (one of the pillows) because there was lint on one of the pillows or in the box. First, no one advised me that there was a chance I would not get my entire credit. I understand a restocking fee etc. Their policy is very clear about electronics etc. NO ONE talked to me about this policy. I do not have a pet, I did not use the pillows, they went right back in the box as soon as I realized they were the wrong size. You have to take goose down pillows out of the packaging so they will fluff up to their real size. The size of these pillows was between std and king. Certainly not what I wanted....at all.

Their website was unclear about the size from the beginning. If I had known I wasn't going to receive my full refund, I would not have even sent them back. I order online all the time, although I don't usually have reason to return and ebay/amazon all have great customer service departments. I am now out $69.99 and shipping for the second order because they say they found lint. Their return policy is intentionally vague and unclear.

I ordered a "refurbished" Canon scanner from this company on October 10 using my Visa debit card. The price I was charged was $102.95. When the scanner arrived, I tried to use it and found that it was defective right out of the box. It made a lot of different loud noises and would not stop making noises no matter how long I left it turned on.

So I contacted overstock.com for RMA information. They told me they would send me an RMA number and a return shipping label to print out. It took almost three weeks and numerous phone calls from me for them to send these items. In the meantime, they promised me several times over the phone and once by email to replace the scanner for the same price I paid for it originally.

On Tuesday, Nov. 20, I received an email from a Wes Alford saying that my Visa had been credited $122.95 because they wanted to "compensate" me for the difficulties I'd had in dealing with them. I wrote back to him and said I didn't want my account credited, I wanted the replacement scanner. I specifically told him, in my email reply, that I was authorizing overstock.com to charge my Visa card in the amount of $102.95. The next day, a credit from overstock.com in the amount of $102.95 appeared on my online banking statement, plus I got an email from overstock.com saying that my new order was confirmed and my card was being charged $119.45, "which includes shipping."

I called the bank to tell them not to honor this charge because I had only authorized $102.95. the bank told me there's nothing they can do about this and I'd have to take it up with overstock.com and/or contact the BBB or some other consumer protection agency or hire a lawyer. I sure won't hire a lawyer over $16.50, and talking to overstock.com gets me nothing.

Overstock.com had the use of my money for over 5 weeks while I had no scanner. I told them that I was not able to just go out and buy another scanner. Mr. Alford wrote to me that they had a lot of other scanners available but only one left of the scanner I originally ordered. Their overcharge on my debit card will result in a fee from my bank because it will take my balance down below their minimum for not having a service charge.

This might not be a big deal for most people, but it is for me. I was cut off of my disability pension in August and have been trying to start a home business. I need a scanner in order to proceed with that business, and I did a lot of research on scanners before deciding on the one I ordered from overstock.com. It is still the scanner I want, and I told them so, and they want to squeeze a little extra out of me because they say, "It's the last one we have" and they think I'll just go ahead and accept the higher price because even at the higher price it is still the lowest price I could find on it.
