Ordered 2 containers of Clorox Disinfecting Swipes at very high price of $25.00 each - arrived my Atlanta address in box from home of individual in California - both containers were warm and the swipes inside were dry and definitely not moist - not much alcohol and disinfectant - label on 1 container was damaged - very poor quality - especially for gouge price of $25.00 each - do not consider Etsy credible vendor - first and last experience with this outfit.

Other than being an Amazon Prime member which I regularly use, I also tried eBay and Aliexpress. For some reasons during shelter I tried Etsy. I ordered on 3 separate occasions on different sellers just to experience the site: on the first order the seller mistakenly sent me 3 instead of 4 items (though the seller apologized and resolved the issue right away); next order, the shipment took almost 3 weeks for hand sanitizer to arrive; and lastly I ordered 3 sets of masks on yet another seller, and it's been more than a month since I was charged, the items never arrived.
Maybe I was just an unlucky person? Surprisingly I never experience any issue on my prior orders from amazon, ebay and aliexpress all these years in literally hundreds of times. How likely a person will have issue 3 successive times? I guess Etsy don't bother vetting sellers at all to make it look like this platform is comparable to any of those sites I said. Right now I don't want a 4th issue with a 4th seller on Etsy.

I was charged right away and hoped that I would receive my items in a reasonable amount of time. It's been 11 days now and neither item has shipped. If this is what seller do on Etsy, I see no reason to return to Etsy. I will give them a few more days and then I will try PayPal arbitration.

While you can find amazing items on Etsy which I did! When you run across a fraudulent seller Etsy does absolutely zero to help you except contact the seller and ask for a tracking number, which the seller did not provide. And unlike Ebay and Tradesy, they do not side with you nor do they contact Paypal or your credit card to assist. In fact, I would have been out $100 dollars for a purse I never received, I would have been out $100 for a purse I never ever received a tracking number for. Unbelievably, Paypal sided with Etsy and the seller and again provided me no tracking number and kept my $100 YIKES!!!! Thankfully I used my credit card instead of my bank account when I purchased on Etsy... And they credited my account to resolve my claim, I cancelled my account with Etsy and will never ever be back way too much risk.

Etsy targeted my shop. I was a shop that sold cactus on Etsy until I was told my shop was shut down because I was allegedly selling prohibited cactus. Etsy lists three species of Trichocereus cacti as prohibited but don't realize there are over 100 species of Trichocereus and I wasn't selling any that where prohibited. Because they had the same first name my shop was shut down during the COVID crisis and it was my only source of income. They don't respond to my requests to appeal their decision as is my right according to their own rules. There has been no response from Etsy and I feel I was targeted for some reason. There are many stores on Etsy that do sale the prohibited cacti and have so for over a year and nothing has been done to them.

I am very disappointed in my recent experience with Etsy. I ordered some face masks from two different sellers. I received shipping notices from each seller but the entire amount was taken from my account by Etsy, not individual sellers. Now Etsy is trying to withdraw that same amount a second time and it caused my checking account to overdraw. It is still a pending charge since May 27th and holding my money. I can understand a mistake but my main complaint is the reason I will no longer do business with Etsy. There is no way to contact them. There is not a phone number or an email listed on their website. I found an email hidden away in one of the FAQ, verification@etsy.com. It said you would receive a response in 24 hrs. It was been 5 days and no response and no refund.

Needless to say, I never received my items, now there is no Rchrds Designs on Etsy, can't contact seller, and Etsy really doesn't care. This was my very first experience with Etsy, and I am so for sure it will never happen again. I guess I will chock this up to lesson learned and stay with what you know.

I love Etsy and I'll continue shopping on their site. I had an antique item I bought, it arrived broken and Etsy would not help me in having the seller reimburse me. They did respond promptly to the case but there was no support and their reply was they do not intervene if the item is broken during shipment, which it was. As I've now learned, there is stark difference between Etsy and Ebay on this. But on an encouraging note, most sellers are honest and will do the right thing and you wouldn't have to escalate the case. Others unfortunately don't. I still think Etsy is a great place to shop.

I contacted Etsy on 4 separate occasions to find out what had happened and received zero response, despite Etsy having taken my payment approximately 10 days earlier. I felt completely cheated and as if they simply don't care about their customers. More importantly, they had stolen my money!
I would rate them 0 out of 10 for providing me with absolutely nothing for my money. I will never use them again. If you find yourself in this situation and have paid by debit card, call your bank and ask to use their 'chargeback scheme'. This means they can refund your money from the seller's bank back into your account. This is what I did and it worked really quickly.

During these uncertain times in the world right now, it is the most important time to display compassion and moral values together with business ethics. Etsy has shown me its lack of ethics by restricting my account during this time. The statement was clearly a facade to the convince the public they stand by their shop owners. But they do not. I ordered a guestbook for my wedding. I choose this seller on Etsy because he provided a wide variety of custom options for your book that I couldn't find anywhere in my country. At first the seller was amazing to deal with then I got my book and it was missing my wedding date and our names, the picture that was supposed to be inside and the biggest thing for me black sheets as this is a photo guestbook. I reached out to him he apologized and wanted to make another one for me to which I accepted as we all make mistakes and have bad days. He made a second one for and when I received this one I opened it to discover it still wasn't right. So I reached out to him again and this time he ignored me (previously he would get back to me within a few hours the most) and took 10 days to reply to me. How do I know I was ignored because I sent an inquiry about a different product from another email and he replied to that one.
I reached out to etsy about my issue who said they sent him a message about my concern and to reach out to me. Days later he did and offered to do another one. This book was apparently sent "without tracking" and I never even received this shipment and he had no way of tracking it because he didn't put tracking on it. Who does that? So keeping in mind that EACH time I got an incorrectly made book I kept incurring custom fees over $15 each time on top of a book that was already $200. The last book I received the one thing he got right on all the other books he did wrong on this book. I almost feel like it was done on purpose to be honest. It took like 5 months in total before I got this last book that I just settled with because I was tired of going back to him. I did message him to let him know I had it and that he was still incorrect but I'd just accept it and deal with it. He didn't even reply with an apology for still messing up.
As for Etsy I pondered over if I should review this guy or not as I hate to talk negatively but decided that it was important that people should be aware that if you order something from this guy (his work is amazing but you don't get what you order) you should ask to see the product before he ships it to make sure it is correct. When I went to place my review I wasn't able to do so no where was there a review section for me to do so. I reached out to Etsy who replied you have a 120 days to place a review to protect the integrity of the SELLER so they don't give a rats ass about the buyer.
This 120 day period was up before I even got the last book from him and they would in no way budge on allowing me to do a review. How do you review something that you don't have by a hidden review deadline. I have never seen anywhere that a customer couldn't provide a review when they wanted to. I didn't see anywhere either that alerts buyers hey you have a deadline to review. It's left such a sour taste in my mouth now that I will no longer buy off Etsy so if I can't find the other things I saw on Etsy I liked locally then I will do without them.

I have been on Etsy for multiple years and have rode the wave of ups and downs through the years with Etsy and its changes. For such a large company with multiple sellers and buyers, their tech team appears non-existent. I have been locked out of one of my shops for over a week now and I have used chat and called 5x now with little assistance other than “it has been escalated” and some nebulous person with IT has the info and will get back to me. Etsy can’t tell me how long that will be, which is infuriating. Another day? Another week? By the end of 2020?
I am not confident anyone will get back at this point. At least most large companies will give you a time frame of when they will call back or get back to you. In the meantime, I am recouping money for sales I cannot send out because I can’t get into my shop for names and addresses. That makes both me and Etsy look bad. Beware of opening a shop on Etsy. I think I will jump to ebay after this. I hear their customer service response time is MUCH faster.

And its very 2nd mail is revoking my activities on its system forever with a few words: high-risk based on close view of my account. No more than that. Can that make any satisfaction for anyone in my situation? After reading reviews in here, I found out 2 things: they seem to want to support their "close" shops selling similar items; and 2. I might be lucky not to sell on it, because of the risk of payments and credit security. I am gonna call my bank to change my credit card for my safety. Thanks for the reviews. I have purchased on Etsy for several years and had considered opening a shop there. Wanting to learn more about Etsy and what goes on behind the scenes, I made use of the forums, and I got an education. While there are in fact many legitimate crafters, artisans, vintage/antique shop keeps there they have been buried under a plethora of resellers and unscrupulous shops who sell at best 'iffy' handmade items and there is no shortage of copyright/trademark issue items.
I really used to enjoy spending money at Etsy. No more. Aside from what appears to be a shift to a reseller marketplace, my time in the forums painted a rather dismal picture of the lack of support offered to both shops and buyers alike. Policing of policies is left to those who buy and sell there and it is apparent very little is being done about it. There are countless people looking for information and support on a multitude of subjects that is not readily available for issues they are experiencing both buying and selling as well as content they encounter.
I have decided to take my business elsewhere. It's just become way too suspect to be trusted. Don't take my word for it. If you are considering either selling or buying on Etsy, first have a good long peruse through the forum topics to see what you are letting yourself in for. This is not a recent manifestation but rather a slow decay that's been festering and growing for a couple of years. I will never sell on Etsy and darn sure I will never sell or purchase there again. There are plenty of true artisan, one of a kind and vintage shops like the ones that Etsy was founded on to be found elsewhere.

I ordered a face mask through the Etsy website but apparently Etsy then passes the order to a company that’s connected to them in some fashion or another and that company is then in charge of facilitating the order. In my case it was YolDiamond out of Las Vegas. When I placed the order in the Etsy site on April 21, 2020. It said if I placed the order. I would receive my mask by May 2nd. I’m flying to California May 8th. (I needed the mask for my flight there) So I proceeded with the order. 5 days later, on April 26th I received an email saying that my order was shipped and would arrive April 28 - May 2nd. Well now it’s May 4th and still no mask.
I had some email communications with YolDiamond and they said it could take a month because of the mail. (They’re blaming it in the mail) When I’ve been receiving mail from family and Amazon faster than I’ve ever received mail in my life. They also are blaming the lag on the pandemic when I ordered the item during the pandemic and I was given a delivery date based off of that. Well let’s just say I’m not too happy or buying what they were telling me. They also told me they have 5 star reviews. I tried finding them to write a review and I can’t find them to even write a review. I can only find them on the Etsy website and you can’t write a review for them there either.
When I look at Etsy reviews I find over and over people running into the same problems I’m currently dealing with. Now when I look at the YolDiamond site on Etsy it says that they are no longer taking orders because they are too backed up and here they said my mask was mailed over a week ago and it could take a month for me to receive it because of the mail being slow because of the pandemic. Be cautious buying from this site and this vendor. There are a lot of one star reviews. Just make sure you scroll through the top layer of reviews because it seems like they stay on top of this and post 5 star reviews to hide alll the one star reviews below. Good luck, Be safe and I hope you all have better luck finding a place that’s honest and gets you your mask.

Know this before you purchase anything on Etsy. Etsy looks out for their vendors more than the customers who purchase items on Etsy. Why? Because if Etsy holds vendors responsible, then Etsy loses money. What do I mean by this? Case and point. I placed an order on April 4th. Days went by, vendor would not respond to my emails on when the item would ship. I even told them to cancel the order and refund me. No answer.
I filed grievance with Etsy. Heard nothing from Etsy and when I tried to go back in to complain again and contact Etsy again, their automated response is, "It appears you've reported this order for review through your bank or credit card company. We'll work with them directly to resolve this matter, and be in touch via email in the event we need more information from you. This order is no longer eligible for a case." So, there you have it. You can not speak with Etsy again and you don't hear from them. Etsy washes their hands from customers' complaints and holds scammer vendors on a pedestal because that brings in revenue. I still have not received my order and tomorrow is May 1st. Etsy, CEO Josh Silverman, you don't know how to run a company. It's run amuck!

I recently purchased something from a shop on Etsy and accidentally ordered too much. I contacted the shop immediately to request to amend the order. I sent subsequent messages and contacted Etsy support but they told me I just had to wait on the Seller. The seller finally contacted me after 5 days offering to cancel my order. I wrote them back 27 minutes after their message and have not received a confirmation, or a refund (that was 6 days ago). While, I have an issue with the lack of communication and professionalism from the Seller, I'm more perturbed over the lack of support Etsy offered, given that they are the ones who charged my credit card immediately. I reached out to them for help 4 times, clearly documenting my efforts to contact the shop, trying to get them to intervene or refund me given that they had the power to charge me in the first place.
This whole experience has made me realize how imbalanced the entire Etsy experience is for consumers. While I love to support small businesses, consumers rely on Etsy to hold these businesses to a certain standard and pre vet them. What really convinced me that Etsy is unconcerned with the consumer experience is in one of my chats when their representative told me the following: Isha: "I really understand your frustrations on this and if I were in your shoes I will feel the same way. I really appreciate your understanding and extended patience on this. If you could just have at least a 1% trust that the seller will surely respond on your email."
I think it really says something when your reps are asking consumers--whose money ETSY took--to have a minimum of 1% confidence in the sellers Etsy supports on their platform. That's how low they're asking their customers to set the bar. To me that's not just sad, but has me losing all confidence in any of their vendors as well as Etsy as a company to attract, vet, and support honest businesses. Amazon also supports smaller sellers, but when you call them with a question or problem, they are solution oriented and resolve the issues.
As of 4 days ago the same customer reps I have been chatting with this whole time who could not do anything, finally did something and sent my case was sent to a "specialist". So first of all, they could do something this whole time, but forwarding my case to a specialist who was supposed to reach out separately has still yielded no results. It's been 11 days. The money has been taken out of my account, and I can't even get a response from the seller or a straight answer or satisfactory resolution from the company that offers them an online platform to sell on. I feel like I got robbed.

No problem, I waited again until 3/2/20 asking if I could get signature confirmation on the package so I knew when to be home to receive the package. I received no response until I followed up again on 3/12/20. She responded same day that there was a FedEx pickup scheduled on Saturday, 3/14/20, and the package would arrive by Wednesday, 3/18/20, by 8pm. I ask for the tracking information on 3/16/20 and received it right away.
I thought it was odd that the tracking information was created but there was no movement on the package so I asked if it was coming on Wednesday or not. I waited at my house all day on Tuesday, 3/17/20 since the label told me it would arrive that day instead of Wednesday. Then mysteriously by 10pm the label updated with no tracking information. I told the seller to not send out the package if it wouldn’t arrive by Wednesday since I would be out of town. I was actually planning on being out of town the weekend prior but had to wait until the package would come on Wednesday. I woke up Wednesday morning, 3/18/20, to find my entire order was refunded. I asked if the table was even finished. I never received a response. Overall I waited almost two months for a table that will never come.
I took a chance getting a nice handmade table on Etsy, supporting a local business, but after this experience I will not be doing business with anyone on Etsy. The customer service of these sellers is appalling and you as the buyer have to constantly reaching out for status updates getting more and more worried that you have been scammed and your $300 is gone just like that. I went to go write this review and surprise, if a buyer cancels an order, there is no way to get in touch with the seller or Etsy, or even leave a review for terrible service. Their entire website is run by bots, there are no customer service numbers and no help at all. At least with other sites you can get in touch with the company if a seller tries to scam you. Apparently you have to go on the internet and complain about things in order to get any resolution. I deleted my account on Etsy and am no longer doing business with them.

Who asks for that? I answered another one of their security questions and then it immediately defaulted and said that I had to send a picture of myself holding my license. No explanation as to why. It's not like I haven't signed up with online selling sites before and never had this problem. Sent pictures to the co, & to Etsy case but Etsy wouldn’t help claiming they “can’t tell when the damages occurred.” This is not an issue of damaged item, it is an issue of poor quality product being sold for 10 times what its worth on their website and no way to contact the website. I primarily sell jewelry, clothing at craft shows, and various marketplaces online; we thought we would give Etsy a try. Right away, we were excited to get a sale by a customer who bought a pair of jade rings with gold plating on them. A few weeks later, he sends messages complaining that it isn't 24k gold. Of course it isn't! We listed in our description that it's only a gold coating. Then he starts sending more messages stating that the jade is fake, and that what we sent is not the same as the picture of the product in our listing; both of these are odious lies. He then demanded a refund.
At this point, the buyer opened a case with Etsy to resolve this conflict. The buyer escalated the case, and now Etsy themselves demanded we refund this buyer. I was out of town during their last message, and come home to find that Etsy completely refunded this guy less than 24 hours after their prior message. In short, we dealt with a buyer who had very high expectations, and did not read or understand our listing, then proceeded to fling baseless accusations against us out of dissatisfaction. Etsy completely took his side in this matter and refunded him for his behavior, thus allowing him to take our product at no cost, whatsoever. If you sell products on Etsy, best of luck to you. I'm done with them.

Absolutely no explanations, and when giving them a call rudely drop the phone and tell me not to contact their business anymore. I've heard that "workers" on Etsy close down shops, as their friends/family members open up same shops and they promote them instead and close down competing shops. Funny thing is that they are a "handmade" platform, but they support factory made Chinese items more than their local, US sellers. Word of warning from an experienced Etsy Seller. I hired a VA from Upwork. Please take the time to read: Unfortunately Etsy privately punishes those of us who use VAs. I'm living proof. My VA had a little digital shop, completely harmless. However, Etsy suspended her shop and also suspended 5 of her employers. This happened to me last Friday. Etsy did not send me an email with an explanation from their legal department. All they do is apply a notice in your shop with a frowny face emoji telling you that your shop has been suspended. So I sent a total of 3 emails asking for an explanation. After all, we live in the USA and do have due process rights that are inherent. Still, no replies.
I called and two people read from a script telling me to never contact Etsy again -- that they are severing ties. My sales brought my shop into the top 2% of all sellers and I had perfect feedback, no copyright infringements, no complaints. I learned about the other shops being suspended because I posted in a private Etsy Seller group and someone came forward and told me that she had been on Etsy for 13 years and had sold almost 50,000 items! She was treated the same way. So, I'm BEGGING any seller to stay away from VA's -- unless you want to risk losing your hard earned business. Better to hire someone from the USA that has no interest in selling on Etsy.

Somehow a glitch in the Etsy autopay system selected an old address they had on file to send to the sellers who then proceeded to ship my items out to my old address. Needless to say, they were already delivered before I wondered where my items were.
I contact Etsy requesting a gift card or a credit for the total purchase of $89.68. They offered me nothing, even though it was their error--not the seller's--not mine. That is the thanks you get for being a 9 year customer who has made multiple purchases through them. Account closed, out $89.68! I will give ALL of my business to eBay from now on for these types of purchases. I have had issues with purchases through them in the past--all resolved properly.

Then I get a notice that Etsy charged me $30 for the cancellation on a $50 purchase, which really never happened. I emailed them for an explanation. I never received a response, so I closed my account. Then they charged me $3 to close, which doesn't seem like much. But after I just paid my $19 monthly fee this past week and which I have over 3 weeks of time left on my shop, all told I lost $42 on a $50 dollar purchase that never happened and that doesn't included the percentage they took for the sell, which I have no idea what that is yet. I did say, "No this can't possibly be the same bouquet," and sent pictures of my hand holding the bouquet I received. Seller accused me of holding it so that it looks smaller and different. I didn't have to do that it was smaller and different than the pictured bouquet. Long story short, I asked for a refund for an item 5 weeks after it didn't arrive, and no communication from vendor. Then it was rushed to me and Etsy closes the case on account of the vendor, NOT me (the buyer). I communicated dissatisfaction bc the item was not cheap, and arrived much too late for what I ordered it for. And Etsy remains incommunicado on the issue. Case closed. Unfortunately, consumers of Etsy, you are NOT BACKED, or prioritized. Doesn't matter how loyal you are. Such a shame. Never ordering from them again with my hard earned money, they're not trustworthy and their policies to back the buyer FAIL.

I opened an Etsy shop because I have a store that sells nothing but handmade items made by local artisans. I had two sales and all the sudden Etsy shut down my shop with no warning. Luckily those sales were completed delivered and Etsy has kept my money. They're telling me they will not reimburse my money until March of 2020 (6 months later). They State their reason is because the sale may not go through even though there's a 30-day return policy that has already passed. I have filed a report with the Better Business Bureau. Unfortunately I still can't get my money even though I paid the artist and I paid for shipping. The consumer has the product and Etsy has my money. Horrible place. I sold on Etsy for 3.5 years and 1 day woke up to my shop being closed permanently due to only a handful of open cases. Most of them due to the fact that no one read through listing details and disregarded the fact that I had a 4-week processing timeframe right on my shops message board. Etsy cares nothing about sellers who actually handmake their items and need adequate time to make those items properly. They claim to be the #1 site for unique and handmade items yet they boost the shops selling cheap overseas knockoffs for a fraction of the cost and time it takes a true "handmade" artist to create the same item. They say you can have your own shop policies yet slap you on the wrist if you don't bend or break those rules to accommodate the most demanding of customers regardless if you did EVERYTHING right.
They refunded customers on my behalf even though the items were shipped on time. When I asked the customers to return, they basically said too bad, Etsy says we don't have to return. I had a customer put in a "not as described" claim for a custom dress because it wasn't an "exact" replica of the $200 dress she wanted me to replicate when I told her from the beginning I don't copy other artists and she said it was fine. I then sent another dress to her, which was double the cost of the original just to close the claim against me. 6 months later after sending photos of the child wearing the dress, she opens another claim that it was yet again "not as described" and told Etsy support I didn't even make it, she did! I provided a ton of proof and Etsy refunded her anyways and let her keep both of my dresses. I was out the items and all shipping, material and labor costs.
I asked Etsy for a reason why they refunded her and basically got told it was none of my business and that would be the last of the communication. Ya, that's really how they speak to their sellers. Sellers who repeatedly bring them in income. Disgusting in my opinion! They treat their sellers like garbage. Do not sell on Etsy if you're a legitimate handmade artist. You'll waste so much time and money. You will be ripped off by buyers, for Etsy will side with them every time. And if you don't maintain a perfect track record they will close you down no matter how many 5 star reviews you have.
If you don't want customers controlling tour business and dictating your policies, then don't even think about selling on Etsy. You will be overrun by all the trademark and cheap overseas goods sold in 99% of the shops. And all the ** "unique" craft items that are simply purchased from Joann and Hobby Lobby and resold as "one of a kind" on Etsy. It's all **!!!

I sent them a picture of my passport and ID card and after a three day back and forth (also they take 24+ hours to respond to emails that state "If issue isn't fixed within 24 hours your account may be suspended") I didn't get a reply after stating all my information which matched the identification I had given them.
Two days later I go on etsy and they've suspended my account, with a new person emailing me, accusing me of being a child and telling me I need to change my information and get written approval from my parents to say that I - an almost 38 year old woman - am allowed an Etsy account and my parents must email them from their email address after I'm finished updating my information. Etsy makes their money from their sellers, so they have little interest in helping buyers when things go wrong. I have been fighting a crooked seller who violated every Etsy rule from the start, and I am not able to file a case against him because he did not enter the order as filled and shipped on my Etsy invoice page. So technically, the order is still outstanding. Because of that game playing, I have to wait about a week — when the “problem with unfilled order” window opens — to start the formal complaint process. And I am not able to leave a review.
As just one example of where Etsy’s priorities lay, here is an excerpt for their seller page, on how to avoid a scam buyer: “A buyer who immediately insists on communicating off of our site may be questionable." The Etsy seller who ripped me off communicated with me off site! Yet no such advice exists on the buyer information pages on Etsy. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with Etsy support, only to be told, over and over again, that they could do nothing. I was told to wait until the window opened to file a case against the seller. When I commented that it seemed that they do nothing to punish their dishonest sellers, the woman I was speaking to said this: “When we chop one head off, a dozen more pop up.” She actually said that. Wow. So that is the position Etsy takes. Why bother disciplining bad sellers, when there are so many others, and so many more who will take their place? Don’t bother with this website.

Also they blocked my account so I can’t call them, email or contact them in any way. Very harsh for a few delayed items and years of high volume sales. Surely this is in violation of GPDR? I had been selling on Etsy for 5 years. I'm a high volume seller on other sites with a lot of experience. Once the admins give you a warning it is downhill until they suddenly shut you down. I was selling to 250 buyers a month bringing in to Etsy about $5K in fee revenue. The nature of my items is that they may not be fulfilled in a timely manner. I received a warning in 2017. I was suddenly suspended a month ago where I refunded a lot of orders and improved since. But there is no such thing as improving after receiving their warnings. It is walking on eggshells thereafter. One buyer can ruin it all.
I suspect they listened to ONE buyer complain. I am surprised that they choose to suspend growing sellers bringing in $5K in fees YEARLY for them over the POTENTIAL of losing the fee revenue of _$37_ of POTENTIALLY some _5_ buyers. What's more, if a suspended for good person calls them their protocol is to hang up the phone. Very unprofessional. I did not even mention the admins do not bother spending the time to read the email messages and rather respond with generic messages.. Incompetent admins not knowing between friend or foe.

I ordered with Blueorchid Creations for my wedding on December 2018 through Etsy. I was told to pay the full cost of my order upfront at that time (no other options were offered) and an agreement was sent to me confirming final approval photos of my product in July 2019 with shipping of the final products in August 2019. Four problems arose with this order:
- Despite regular messages to request information on my order, final photos were not sent until September 2019, 2 months late. My order was not delivered until Sept 30th, 2019, one month late. No clear explanation was given for this delay and while they were always quick to respond to messages, I only got updates on my order when I messaged them first on a weekly, sometimes daily basis.
2) The flowers are shipped on their side in regular shipping boxes.- This means the bouquets all came flattened on one side and one of the boxes holding all the bridesmaid bouquets literally got crushed since there was no fragile label or special box used. Blueorchid creations doesn't claim to ship them upright, but I felt buyers would like to know this as it would have certainly affected my purchasing choices had I known I would be responsible for reforming and fixing my products after shipping.
3) The garland I ordered was changed without my approval.- Blueorchid creations sent a photo of the garland to approve prior to shipping - which I loved. However prior to shipping they added multiple huge hydrangea arrangements to it. This was upsetting as it meant I received a product not as I had ordered and was now faced with fixing it myself or returning it and hoping no more delays occurred so it could be returned to me in time for the wedding.
4) I was made to pay for a product upfront that was not shipped for over 6 months.- By requiring full payment in December 2018, this meant that when I received damaged and wrong products on a delayed timeline in September 2019 I was unable to open a case on Etsy (only available for 100 days post payment) and unable to leave a review on Etsy to warn other buyers (only available for 100 days post payment). This is a huge gap in Etsy's buyer protection policies and Blueorchid creations has benefitted from it as there was no way for me to review them or open a case against them.
I contacted etsy via chat and email to discuss these concerns and heard nothing in 2 days. I called them after finally finding a phone number for customer service (very hard to find) and was told there is nothing they can do and there is no way to leave a review as it is past the window. It is absurd that they allow sellers to charge buyers so far in advance of shipment of the product if they are unwilling to support the buyer when that product arrives.

I feel an employee at Etsy (of a different political persuasion) and with the power to suspend my account, sabotaged the account out of spite. There are tons of political shirts on Etsy. It was probably not done through the normal channels, so no email is being generated by the system since it's probably not on the radar to be corrected by the seller. I had provided my exact measurements from head to toe, as requested. Until then the seller was quick and responsive but when I asked about this she avoided me for a few days. I took the dress to a seamstress to ask for her opinion about this dress and she said it looked like it had been made in China. The quality was low, the hem jobs were sloppy. She said "You have to send it back!" I was afraid I might not get my money back so I left the dress in her shop (she had a long waiting list so it will be weeks before she can do anything with it).
I began a dispute with the seller. Since I have loved Etsy for years I figured they would side with my case. But no - they made me wait for over a week and after several of my phone calls, someone finally sent me an email reply saying they closed the case because I had supposedly "altered the dress". They completely failed to read correctly the back and forth details between the seller and me. I had NOT and STILL HAVE NOT ALTERED THE DRESS IN ANY WAY, SHAPE or FORM. That would never have happened if the seller was honest and replied to me in a timely fashion!! A friend even reached out to her for me to ask what was up.
With Etsy's review team there was no nuance, no case, no questions asked of me. No matter how many times I tried to get someone to listen to me they just gave me the same answers and apologized that I wasn't pleased with the results. Etsy just lost a fan and a customer. Etsy is not seller friendly and are seemingly ‘focused’ on buyers rather than the shops that make up their website. ‘Free shipping’ is not only misleading to customers (due to your fees being included in the overall price) but is also a tremendous burden on business/shop owners. Etsy also charges more fees to sellers than Square, PayPal, EBay, and other top selling sites. Their customer service department is not helpful to sellers and is too focused on the buyer ‘protection’ and new algorithm geared towards Etsy’s personal agenda. When I refresh the page my account isn't even a shop... I have been in contact with Etsy over 10 times to which the customer support is no help and doesn't even respond. Every time I try to reopen it I HAVE TO INPUT MY PERSONAL INFORMATION. Suspicious??? Yeah, I think so. I have to input my information and my shop won't even open??? I just logged on today to check the progress and now my account is suspended! ** you Etsy. I hope nobody else wastes your time.

I was given an order number and was informed I would be informed when it shipped. On 12 August I received an email that they cancelled my order, I was not contacted prior to this, giving me other options. They claimed that they did not want in in the system for a longer time. They could have let me made that decision, as to say go ahead even if it takes longer for it to be made. They are not customer oriented, as they made their decision without consulting the customer! Beware. If they don't want to do it they will cancel your order!

I tried Etsy for selling and found is much worse than eBay. I got many buyers who said their accounts were hacked and wanted a refund. Then when I went to refund them their money and Etsy wanted to double dip and charge my credit card a 5% commission for a canceled order even though they already deducted 5% from the original order. There were buyers who paid for an item but Etsy payments didn't go through after 5 days. Perhaps these buyers were paying through their bank account but it's annoying to have your item off the market. Etsy's policy is you can only sell items over 20 years old unless they are handmade. Etsy's main competitor doesn't have this policy and gets much more traffic.

Etsy has thousands of amazing artisans, crafters and resellers from around the world. Some amazing vintage and antiques can be found on the site but you'd never know it from Etsy emails to subscribers or any of their advertising. We pay the same as everyone else, but get very little support. Moderators and staff know nothing about these categories or items unfortunately. Vintage to them is a style and not a time period with very specific characteristics and terms used to describe items.
Since going public it's more about cash grabs from sellers to make shareholders happy, i.e.: raising fees and charging the same 5% on the damn shipping right off the top. Then there's the processing fee on top of that. The cost of doing business there has dramatically gone up. Etsy doesn't realize that without sellers and their shops, they would cease to exist, but recently their CEO described the 'churn' that as disgruntled shops close, they are easily replaced so all the people that helped build the site, made them tons of money are worthless trash that can be replaced. Nice isn't it!!
The latest is the 'free shipping' scam that is not just a scam, it's illegal. A scam to make some quick money for Etsy that will cost buyers more money because people have to raise their prices to offer free. IF you buy more than one of anything, you're paying a helluva lot more than you would if you bought two and paid shipping. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE... people have to pay for it and small shops with small margins can't afford to eat that money, especially since doing business on Etsy has gone up so much like I said before, and most will agree that postal and courier rates are insane. Buyers also will be paying more taxes in their state because the shipping is rolled into the price as Etsy suggested shops do, and they normally wouldn't have to pay on their shipping.
Who makes out like a bandit? Etsy of course taking more money from sellers and buyers. It's outrageous and many have reported them to the FTC for questionable business practices. SO a great place to shop with high quality but getting to the point where it's not so good to be a shop owner and lots of people are baling and finding other options where they can actually make themselves money for their hard work and time.

I just literally opened a shop and it was already suspended. I could not even upload a listing or anything before they suspended it. They definitely discriminate against certain sellers. Have no idea how or why but I would not support these people. WHY? Because it's simple of course you want to protect the buyers but the sellers need it as well. I had literally two different shops suspended. I believe the person who did it was never intending to actually buy anything off the site but to immediately send a negative review to Etsy so my store could be closed. If you are political active please know you will be under investigation and surveillance and if you think they will not contact someone within other companies and get them to do whatever they can make your life hard please wake up to the current over-monitoring invasion of privacy we have in this country!!!

As a seller I received zero support from Etsy. There is no clarity or transparency around how to speak to Etsy as a seller other than the seller handbook which did not answer any of my questions. The seller handbook focused on customers, not sellers. The website does not function properly either directly or through the app. I was never able to get into my shop items individually except via listings or a general search. They charged inexplicable fees for VAT and taxes on sales payable outside the UK even though I am non VAT registered and fees for listing, renewal, plus their 10 percent for sales and shipping, the latter of which has nothing to do with them and was introduced as an extra. Sellers were extremely unhappy with this but Etsy still introduced it.
They have recently told sellers that they must ship any orders over £25 to the US free or they will stop promoting the shops. This instantly raised prices for customers and disengaged many sellers. I left Etsy on principle as their last tactic represents corporate bullying. I am unable to see the logic in this as they must have lost a chunk of their buyers and also sellers. Is it not illegal to make this kind of demand? There is no clear or transparent policy on how sellers can complain. I am unclear how they get away with this but they are doing so. Please do not buy or sell on Etsy or collude with their corporate greed.

I signed up for an Etsy account to dropship items from Aliexpress (resell items listed on Aliexpress). Dropshipping is allowed in Etsy's terms and conditions and there is hundreds of drop shippers on Etsy. Everything was fine until one buyer lodged a formal complaint she hadnt received her item. I replied giving her the postal tracking number showing the item was on its way. It was not late it was still actually in the timeframe specified in the product description and the buyer did later receive her item. However in the meantime Etsy banned my account saying "I gave the buyer a negative experience" I tried to reply and explain there was nothing wrong with the order and I had given the customer the tracking number but they replied simply stating they wouldnt respond to my emails.
Since then they have posted on my Etsy shopped that I'm banned "suspended". Everyone else with orders still on their way freaked out thinking they may not get their order. I gave everyone worried their tracking numbers and assured them the items were on the way. In one case Etsy asked me to provide proof of shipping. I provided tracking number, screenshots of my Aliexpress account showing the item had been shipped, more proof the item was being shipped to the customer's address, even proof from the postal service yet Etsy refunded every customer who asked about their order even when I provided proof of shipping and even when the customer received their product! I am out hundreds of dollars for these refunds and not to mention they still took their "selling fees".
I literally did nothing against Etsy's terms and conditions. I was an honest seller. I was able to provide any proof they asked for yet they banned me for reasons not even accurate and discriminated against me as an individual dropshipping when they allow hundreds of companies to do it. And when I contacted staff they ignored any proof I provided and anything I had to say.

Etsy is now pushing for free shipping which would be fine if it was truly free shipping. Instead, Etsy is now showing their sellers how to say “free shipping” by building the shipping cost into the base price. It’s false advertising. Allowing the consumer to think they’re getting free shipping when the price of shipping is included in the price they pay. If Etsy insisted in a “shipping included” banner, that would be honest. But shipping is not free in this instance. In addition, sellers’ shops and livelihoods have been threatened. Etsy plans to give special treatment to sellers who comply with this “free shipping guarantee”, while other sellers who either can’t afford it or who have ethical objections will be relegated to the back pages of search, probably never to be found. This is dishonest, unethical and puts businesses in jeopardy.

By cancelling the order, a buyer is then unable to leave a review of any kind. She did this on purpose so I could not leave her a negative review thus not allowing other potential buyers to see what poor customer service she offers. Ordered a few packs of various feathers and just ordered extra charge for that amount then it got sent to random post office location because my condo was not allowed to sign to take the parcel. No one informed about signing. The problem here is the MISSING SLIP. A few days of delay was alright still since the the owner like every other shop owners, warned me that after its out of his hand for delivery, he has no responsibility when any issue happens on delivery process. Who would expect for a missing slip and pay for anything for shipping?? I visited around all near post office near my place and asked but nothing was found.
While I ask the owner where it is, he keep says check the slip that I must have gotten. NO SLIP. That's what I was keep saying. Then asked him to help me get the spec location for this because even the tracking num couldnt find the address. Just says local post office. Not even which post office. I opened the case for it and that's when he responded with spec address. That's 2 weeks after the order. HA.... This was supposed to be used for my engagement shoot and it was already done as scheduled. I asked full refund including the shipping fee thats extremely expensive for some pack of feathers and we argued a lot in the conversation on the case. I escalated the case after 3 days with no solution. NO RESPONSE from Etsy whatsoever.
Chat with them for it, the next day, got an email from someone from special help team and informed me that they have closed the case just because the owner has successfully done everything right on his part. I mentioned about missing slip so many times in the conversation and even on the support chat. How weird... NO ONE mentioned about the missing slip. Whatever they are thinking, no one wants to get responsible for this sort of issue on my end and I want to ask do I deserve to pay for 100 worth of dollars for this great nightmare experience? I've been an Etsy buyer for almost 10 years, spending easily thousands of $ on both domestic and international purchases. Most (85-90%) of my dealings have been error free. However, the handful of times I've had issues have been so stressful and the process so drawn out that they've outweighed the good. Be especially careful with international sellers, which add a layer of potential complications.
In the past 6 months, I've had to open 3 non receipt cases with non responsive or combative sellers. And though I *eventually* got my money back or the item resent, it was very stressful. One of those 3 lasted more than 4 months! The Etsy customer service reps kept telling the seller to refund my money ($230) or her shop would be suspended. Nothing. That went on for a week or so before I finally filed a complaint about Etsy with the Better Business Bureau because they don't enforce their own policies! Bottom line, there are a lot of honest and professional sellers, but the few rotten apples greatly overshadow them. Especially when you could potentially be out hundreds of $. Like other people on here said, having a lot of 5-star reviews doesn't mean your experience will also be stellar.

I have been a seller on Etsy since 2008. They have changed their selling parameters and fees many, many times since then, for the worse. They now charge sellers three or four separate fees every time they sell an item. A listing fee, a percentage of the sale total once an item sells, a “processing” fee and a relisting fee. They charge fees unfairly and I feel that they are trying to create profits for themselves by robbing sellers, a little at a time. Taking an extra 20 or 40 cents from every seller for each sale may seem like it is not much, but multiply that over millions of items.
For example, I have some items with multiple color variations and all are unique. I had a listing with four items available. I sold three to one buyer in a single transaction leaving only one more available. I had already paid the original listing fee and it was still in effect. I was charged three separate additional relisting fees for each item that was sold even though there was only one more item available. Stealing from the sellers is business as usual at Etsy. Perhaps they think stealing small amounts will not be noticed by the seller, but I noticed and called customer support. They told me that is how they do it. Charging three listing fees for the single item is unacceptable.
I also believe they have the shipping calculator set up to overcharge the customer if the seller is not using the Etsy labeling. I have to refund more than half what they charge the customer for shipping every time because they overcharge saying they are using standard postal rates. This is untrue. I send my items from the post office via priority mail and it never, ever costs near what Etsy charges the buyer. I believe they are using tactics designed to discourage the buyers from purchasing from sellers not using the Etsy shipping labels by grossly inflating the shipping charges on sellers not helping them profit even more than usual from the shipping fees.
There is no reason whatsoever they should take a percentage of what the buyer pays for shipping. That is theft in my opinion. It is not money paid for an item, it is the shipping cost. They do not have any business taking money out of the shipping cost. They constantly pressure sellers to offer free shipping even when it would cost more than the sale price of the item to ship it because it is heavy. I do not believe Etsy runs their business with any kind of honesty or morals. They use others who work hard to create unique items and then bleed them dry.

I asked her to send me photos of the item and I would refund her. She did not send the photos. I did not hear from her again until she opened up a case. Etsy sided with her despite her saying it was broke in transit, which in the Etsy 'rules' she could not open a case but would have to go take it up with the post office. Etsy ruled in her favor and forced a refund. I am very sure the item did not break and I got scammed. Closed my shop and will look elsewhere to sell my items where I won't get scammed.

Our shop JamcarCreations was removed from Etsy without warning. We sell wood watches with our name and Logo on them. LORD & LION is our brand. Our website is www.lord-lion.com. We never tried to deceive anyone into believing we made them ourselves. We disclosed they came from China where we have them manufactured. Ryan from Etsy wrote us that our item did not fit into Etsy’s items allowed to be sold. There are numerous sellers of wood watches on Etsy that do claim they design their watches and state they are handmade.
Those same watches come from the same supplier I use in China, yet none of those shops have been removed from Etsy - even after I pointed them out to Ryan. He says I wasn’t singled out, but I beg to differ. I wrote to tell him that I would do whatever I needed to do to fix anything I may have done wrong to break their rules. I was denied. He said I could still participate as a buyer but not as a seller. Etsy is neither fair or honest.

Updated on 05/30/2019: ** May 30, 3:34 PM EDT. I bought 2 pendant on Etsy website. The first green pendant was Absolutely gorgeous, GREAT pendant which I’m very happy with! The other one supposed to be GREEN amber pendant that was sent from EurikaGems in the UK. Not enough that it took 2 weeks to arrive, they send me an ORANGE amber, which I didn’t order, nor care for, since I have plenty of orange amber pendants! When I send her a message, she blamed me for it and said I ordered the orange one. And when I sent her a pic of my order and ask if “she can read English cuz I see the word green” she told me I was rude, and said she won’t exchange it! I think it’s outrageous that a shop send you the wrong item, blame you for it, and when you prove them wrong - they acts like a bully! They should have exchanged it on their expense since it was THEIR mistake NOT MINE!!
I’m sent a copy of my order, and open a case on Etsy, and their response was I need to try to settle it with the seller, before they consider to step in!! Don't buy on Etsy, their customer service is outrageous, and when you have a problem - well, you have a problem!! I will never buy anything from them again!!!! P.S, I paid $9 for shipping, plus $15 for returning it - TOTAL OF $24!!!!
Original Review: I ordered an amber necklace on May 12th, the seller sent me an email that she sent the it on May 13th. Today is May 24th and I still didn’t get it! I looked at the shipping tracking number, and the delivery company said “There is no info for this delivery”. I messaged the seller 2 days ago, she never got back with me. I asked them in a chat conversation to refund my money or send me the necklace, they say I needed to open a case with them. Don't buy anything from Etsy, 'CAUSE IF YOU DO HAVE A PROBLEM, YOU HAVE NO ONE TO HANDLE YOUR COMPLAIN! NEVER WILL BUY THERE AGAIN!

I finally received what I ordered on May 8th today which is May 22nd. I found dealing with the seller to be in extreme ordeal. For one I asked a question concerning the price because it states the price is $99.95 yet when you go in to read the information concerning the product it says $89.95. I never received a response to that email, after three further emails I still received no response until I actually contacted Etsy.
Quite frankly I did not find using Etsy easy at all. I will not ever purchase from the seller again and I probably will not use Etsy again as I found the support to be questionable. I'm a long-time Amazon customer and any time I've had a problem over the years Amazon has contact me immediately and took care of the issue. This seemed to be a runaround both on the seller's part and on Etsy's part. They should have been more proactive with their customer service but were not.
I have a couple of friends that sell on Etsy and they seem to be happy and satisfied for the most part with the way business is conducted but do admit there are flaws that cause issues that could be easily avoided. However I was not at all impressed. It's probably why I don't shop on Etsy or Ebay much. It's just too hard to navigate and the helpline is less than helpful.

I have been a seller on Etsy for several years and have 3 shops. I have another family member who also had opened a shop long after I had mine with a similar product line. They however, had a copyright issue and their shop was suspended. Three months later, all 3 of my shops were suspended without any notice or emails or reason. The shop notice said due to late payment. Which I owed no payments. They held back my deposit from my shop sales. So I messaged them several times to find out what was wrong.
First they replied that I had a copyright infringement, so I pushed back as I had not. Then they replied that I opened a new shop as a policy violation to get around previous copyright complaints. Which was also not true. So I argued again for details as to what or why they are accusing me or anything. Then finally they replied that my "account shares sufficient information with an account whose privileges have been revoked for us to consider them related" and so they were suspending my privileges as well. So apparently "guilty by association" seems to be reason for them to just shut you down. Not to mention in the email they also implied that I was actually the other person too. But they would not "disclose the specifics of our internal review criteria".
In other words they can just shut you down and not provide any information and then they ended with... "We will not respond to further inquiries about this. Our Terms of Use state that we may terminate your account (and any related accounts) at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice." So they are holding my deposit of sales for 2 months and will not be reviewing or allowing me to appeal. So I cannot even prove to them that they are wrong in their accusation and my business has nothing to do with the other person. They have very bad business practices, and enough loopholes in their policies that they can do anything they want and you can do nothing about it. Do not waste your time and let them control your money and business, eventually they will likely do it to you too.

Apparently somewhere in the fine print it says synthetic, but everywhere else it was indicated "coral". I decided to send it back. The seller kept saying she did not receive it. So, I never got reimbursed. I tried to log into Etsy to report it, but it keeps saying that my email is not valid!!! (I have successfully registered). After placing the order I contacted the seller about when I would be receiving the products, and she said it would come two days after my wedding and that I could not get a refund because it was a personalized order, which I completely understood.
I received an email on October 25th (my wedding was Sept. 22nd), that my order had shipped from Ohio (I live in NY). Two months later I still had not received my order. I contacted the seller asking for a tracking number, no response, and I also contacted Etsy Support and received an automated response. Sellers should not be allowed to cancel a transaction without contacting the buyer first. Buyers shouldn't be penalized with the exchange rate when the cancellation doesn't originate from them, and transactions should not be removed from purchase history when cancelled, but marked as cancelled.

The seller had almost 1500 positive reviews, so I thought it would be great, but the reveiws mean nothing, because you can't actually leave a negative review now. The silicon molds I got, after a ridiculously long delay (months) were shipped exactly 24 hours before I could open a case. Upon arrival, one had scratches and rough spots, one was good, and the third, most expensive one, came apart on the first cast.
I reached out to the seller, and she accused me of using a tool to remove the casts. That pretty much indicated to me that opening a case would be useless, since I can't prove a negative. I absolutely did not use a tool, but there is no way to prove that, so I gave up. I'm out $200, and I'm furious. Etsy should go out of business for their utter lack of support for buyers.

I've made a total of 3 purchases from sellers on Etsy and 2 out of the 3 purchases has been a poor experience. First purchase was a custom dog tag for our dog. I placed the order, paid for it, and never heard anything from the seller until I reached out asking what was taking so long to receive my order. Finally got a reply and the item that I purchased. It took a long time to get the tag, but I eventually got it. (This is the positive experience).
My second (and largest) purchase was for a reborn toddler doll. This was a very pricey item that I had been saving for. I placed the order and heard nothing from the seller until I reached out to her. This doll was a custom and took 3 months to complete. The entire time the seller never emailed me with pictures or emails to keep me updated on the doll's progress like she said she would in the beginning. I was promised the doll by my birthday, however, my birthday came and went and no doll or communication from the seller.
I then emailed asking where the doll was and was told she ran out of materials and had to wait to finish my doll. The entire time she was taking orders for more custom dolls. I hounded her every other day AFTER the date that was promised. I FINALLY received my doll 2 weeks late and was very disappointed. The doll did not have certain things I asked for such as a magnet for a pacifier. Also, one of the doll';s legs made a squeaking sound, the arms were not jointed, etc. Overall I was very dissatisfied with the doll.
I probably could have filed a complaint and asked for a refund, but honestly, I wanted nothing more to do with the seller, so I decided to sell the doll on a popular auction site and take a loss in hopes to recoup some of my money back. I listed the doll and the seller found my listing and emailed me hounding me about why I was selling the doll. I felt like I was being harassed by the seller. I purchased the doll, she had her money. Our contract was finished. What I did with the doll after that was none of her business. I stopped responding to her emails and blocked her from contacting me.
My last transaction was done yesterday 04/29/2019. I purchased a custom iPhone case from a seller in California. The shop's listing stated it would take 1-3 business days to make the case and another 5-7 for shipping. Great, no problem. Once I order and pay for the phone case the seller emails me saying it would take 3 to 5 business days to make the product but if he has other things to do then give him a couple more days added to that time. Then he states that shipping would take 4 to 5 weeks!!! WHAT?!? I responded to his email letting them know that the new time frame given was not acceptable. The store states no cancellations or refunds, but I opened a dispute with PayPal to dispute the charges. Now I have to wait to see if this seller is going to hold up his end of the bargain, or I have to wait 11 days before PayPal will refund my money.
I'm not a hard person to please. I buy an item and pay Immediately. All I ask for in return is keep me informed on my merchandise and hold up your end of the deal when I order a custom product. I've came to the realization that most of the sellers on Etsy seem to take on orders that they can't deliver on time. Every single transaction (yes, all three of them) the seller has had zero communication and customer service skills. Therefore, I will no longer purchase anything off of Etsy. You have very little recourse as a buyer. The sellers don't seem to care about communication. They are quick to take your payment, but lallygag when it comes to getting you your merchandise that you paid for. I can also tell you that all three stores I ordered from had positive feedback. How, I'll never know.

If you order from an international seller there's no tracking for the purchase and the purchase will always show "In Transit" even if you've received it. Therefore, you will not be able to leave a review for a bad seller, and you also won't get the link to open a case. I do believe the seller does this intentionally sometimes. If a seller doesn't ship your purchase, it is a very time consuming and frustrating process just to open a case to get a refund initiated. If you speak to a representative in chat they will use words like, "ummmm" and "coz" and then not do what they told you they would do. Once you do get the case open, they want you to try to resolve it through the seller for three days even though you've already tried that and the seller will absolutely not respond to messages.
