My experience with Etsy has been nothing short of a nightmare. Despite being a legitimate seller and having a clean track record, my shop was inexplicably suspended without warning or a valid explanation. Despite my attempts to rectify the situation, the Etsy Trust & Safety team failed to provide any substantial reasoning behind their decision, leaving me completely blindsided.
It is incredibly disappointing to witness Etsy's lack of transparency and disregard for genuine sellers. I strongly advise against starting your selling journey on this platform, as their unreliable policies and uncommunicative approach can lead to unjustified and abrupt account suspensions, causing significant harm to your business. Look elsewhere for a more dependable and transparent platform to ensure the security and stability of your business. Overall, my one-star rating reflects the distressing experience and the severe lack of support and fairness from Etsy's Trust & Safety team.

I bought this vegan blue belt in Spring of 2021, and wore it two times. I wanted to wear it again recently to a event, and the blue material was falling off. I paid over $ 25.00 dollars for this belt, and it should have lasted at least another couple of years. I tried to reach out to Etsy, and of course it is too late for a refund. I could not even get a hold of customer service. Poor quality, and no ability to follow up with someone.

After a decade as a seller, we made some changes to our tax info and lost access to our shop. With no contact options other than email, and no reply to emails over weeks, we are left with no options other than to abandon our long-established Etsy account. I think this company is toast. If you're planning to open a shop, do so on any other site. Etsy is a trainwreck that isn't long for this world.

In sum, you have no protection. Over two months now not getting a service and NO options to contact Etsy directly or put in a complaint. Could only email the vendor and now the vendor shut down shop. Try to contact etsy directly for their said Buyer Protection is a joke... Buried contact information; no emails (they'll contact you), and chat that is buried under five web pages and you lose if trying to find any information... If you don't care about losing money, there is no protection and some scrupulous vendors are figuring this out.

It's obvious that Etsy is on its way under, I bought $1000 worth of merchandise from 4 different businesses, 3 of the 9 items I got was nothing like the picture or description, Etsy says there is nothing they can do, the seller does not want to return because his criminal policy says no returns. Even though you got something else. Etsy sucks! You can't get anyone on the phone, and if you do it's a person who can't help you. They hung up on me 5 times due to not having an answer. ETSY is SCAMMERS' market place.
I have filled a lawsuit for not being able to return and being scammed by ETSY! I have also filed a claim with the DOJ to investigate all the illegal drugs being sold on Etsy, all the scams that are going on, and how much Etsy goes out of its way to accommodate these drug dealers and scammers. I ordered something and waited the 2.5 weeks for it to arrive which is fine, but the item I received did not match what I purchased. It was a dinky, ugly cheap item. I wrote the store and told them to refund me. They did immediately, but when I went to leave them a review they deleted all my purchasing information. The entire transaction was gone, so that I didn't leave a review. Then, to add insult to injury trying to reach out to Etsy to file a complaint has been impossible. I have no idea what is going on with Etsy, but I will probably not order from them anymore because something doesn't seem right. If you read other Etsy reviews on here, you'll see they are making it very hard to contact them. Don't order from Jenny Krafts.

I've been a seller on Etsy for quite some time, managing two distinct shops, "Shop A" and "Shop B." Unfortunately, my journey as an Etsy seller has been nothing short of a frustrating nightmare, leading me to give this platform a rating of 0 stars. My ordeal began when "Shop B" was suspended by Etsy's automated bots. The reason cited was violation of their handmade policy. I suspect it's because of the same images we have on other marketplaces, such as Amazon Handmade. Etsy's response was swift, but far from fair. They sent alarming emails to my customers, warning them of potential order issues, even when orders were already in transit with tracking numbers. Automatic refunds were issued, leaving customers bewildered and my payment account drained. Shockingly, I couldn't even message my customers to assure them, as Etsy disables messaging when a shop is suspended.
Etsy's appeal process for suspended shops is deeply flawed. Sellers like me are denied the opportunity to speak to a human representative or provide documentation to prove the handmade nature of our items. Instead, we're left with no option but to admit fault and promise compliance with policies. If you're not guilty, it doesn't seem to matter. My appeal was unsuccessful, and most disheartening of all, they continued to also suspend my other "Shop A" – a completely different product line with no prior issues. Overnight, I lost income from both shops.
Adding insult to injury, Etsy's handling of payouts has been baffling. When my shops received a sudden surge of orders due to Google Ads, Etsy placed reserves on my payouts for months at a time. Their automated systems flagging suspicious activity resulted in a financial setback. Equally distressing is Etsy's complete lack of seller support. Buyers frequently open cases instead of engaging in communication with sellers, leading to automatic refunds without sellers even being informed. The absence of meaningful support and communication is nothing short of shocking. Etsy seems to want sellers to generate profits for them but fails miserably in providing the necessary support and fairness. My experience with Etsy has been a disheartening one, and I would strongly advise fellow sellers to save themselves time, effort, and frustration by exploring alternative platforms that truly value and support their sellers.

I ordered a set of Hot Wheels on Etsy 3 days ago. I got my confirmation number. It loaded up on their website as a purchase with a picture of the items I bought and said I would have it by October 3rd. On September 27th I looked at my status and it is no longer on the website at all. The picture and the order confirmation were taken down. I called the company and asked him what happened. They indicated the sale was canceled. I ask why. They told me the seller is no longer selling for them anymore and they can't give me any information on their customers. He asked if I got an email and yes I did get one just a little while before I called saying that my order was canceled with no reason.
I reminded this person this seller is no longer a customer and I would like to know why my sale was canceled. I told him I also checked my bank and the order is still pending through the bank. They assured me I will get my money back but I'm going to leave this post anyway and I will leave another one to follow up on this if I don't get my money back. I think it's unacceptable that I'm still a customer and they won't give me a reason as to why this seller doesn't sell for them anymore. The sale was for approximately $500 which I believe is sizeable sale and I'm concerned about trusting this company anymore with my money. I'm concerned that their sellers are fraudulent and they don't check them out before they sell stuff adequately, if that's possible. I have never had this happen to me on eBay. I doubt if I'll be using them again based on some of the other reviews I am reading on this website.

I ordered a pair of boots on Etsy. The seller was Kingly Shoes located in Pakistan. I sent messages to Kingly before I placed my order. I wanted to ensure the boots I received would look identical to the ones advertised. I can understand slightly different patterns in some areas but the color and contours should be the same. The order arrived over a week later than expected. But coming from overseas I can handle that. But the boots were definitely a different color and the pattern was not close at all. Kingly refused the return because I didn't request a glossy boot, and that I should have expected handmade shoes could be different from the photo advertised. And because the order arrived late, the vendor nor Etsy will let me post a review. The review window was closed before I received the order. Beware of scammers on Etsy. September 20th, 2023. In June of 2023, I made a purchase from a shop that read from Mexico. I waited 30 days, and during this time, I made numerous attempts to contact the owner, without any success. After five weeks, I receive an email stating that my package had been delivered... To an individual in Massachusetts! I reside in North Carolina. After a forever search for a contact number to Etsy, I was told that I had to wait another three days to open a case! Even though the proof was in printed ink! Adding insult to injury, I waited the three days and, after another day, was reimbursed by Etsy.
Well, mid-August I purchased an item from a shop. Again, I waited patiently, while items from other vendors had arrived in a timely manner. Again I attempted to contact this shop, without any success. And again, I was notified that my item had been delivered... To an individual in St. Paul, Minnesota! And guess where the vendor was located... Mexico! SCAM written all over these two shops. I again dug up a different Etsy contact number, and even though the representative plainly saw that the item had been delivered a thousand miles away... You guessed it, I have to wait an additional three days to open a case! The shop is CuriosBoyandGirl, and the proprietor is "Brian **".
After fifteen years of shopping on Etsy, I think I will cut ties for a while and shop elsewhere. Buyer beware... We all know that scammers are everywhere, but I feel Etsy's silly policy should reflect this and when an incident occurs, expedite the refund process so the buyer, or customer, feels that Etsy cares. The buyer won't suffer, they will go elsewhere... The good and honest vendors will lose out.

My recent encounter with Etsy has been nothing short of a catastrophe, and I feel compelled to share my harrowing experience. I entered into this venture with high hopes of opening my own online store, but Etsy's sheer incompetence and lack of transparency have shattered those dreams. First and foremost, Etsy failed to follow through on their promise of opening my online store. Despite their enticing claims of providing a user-friendly platform for selling handmade products, the reality was starkly different. I meticulously followed their guidelines and completed all the necessary steps, only to discover that my store had never actually been established.
To make matters worse, Etsy began billing me fees for a store that was nothing more than a mirage! I received invoices for services I never received and products I never sold. It's painfully evident that Etsy is solely interested in wringing every last penny from its users, regardless of whether they deliver on their promises. When I attempted to address this issue with Etsy, their customer support was conspicuously absent. They deactivated their 800-number, making it nearly impossible to get in touch with a live representative. Submitting a ticket online proved to be a Herculean task, and the response time was measured in days or even weeks. It's as if Etsy couldn't care less about their customers' concerns and is solely focused on extracting more money.
Now, here's the real kicker: Etsy has the audacity to demand payment for these fraudulent fees before they'll even consider closing my store, which never actually existed! It's a blatant attempt to extort money from me, and it's beyond disgraceful. In conclusion, my experience with Etsy has been a complete and utter disaster. They failed to fulfill their promises, billed me for services that never materialized, and demonstrated an utter disregard for customer service and ethics. I strongly advise anyone contemplating using Etsy to seek out a more reliable and ethical platform for their online store needs. Etsy is nothing but a money-grabbing scam, and I deeply regret ever becoming entangled with them. Spare yourself the agony and avoid Etsy at all costs!

How is it that Hersey's could get my product removed and then I couldn't get product put back on site. I was paying them not Hershey's. My encounter with Etsy as a platform for selling products has left me deeply dissatisfied and frustrated. In my opinion, Etsy is one of the worst companies to work with as a seller. When I initially joined Etsy, I believed it would be an excellent platform to showcase and sell my products. However, I quickly realized that the support and assistance provided by Etsy were severely lacking. The experience has been fraught with numerous challenges and disappointments.
One of the key issues I encountered was the inconsistent enforcement of their rules and policies. Etsy tends to favor buyers over sellers, often neglecting to adequately address disputes or protect sellers' interests. This lack of fair treatment undermines trust and discourages sellers from investing their time and effort into the platform.
Furthermore, the customer service offered by Etsy is incredibly disappointing. It is exceedingly difficult to reach a real person for assistance, and when you do, the responses are often vague, unhelpful, or automated. It is disheartening to see a company prioritize customer service so poorly, as it ultimately affects the experience for both buyers and sellers. Additionally, Etsy's fees and charges are excessive compared to the value and support they provide. The fees eat into sellers' profits significantly, making it challenging to maintain a sustainable business on their platform. In my opinion, this is a significant flaw in Etsy's structure that requires immediate attention.
Overall, my experience with Etsy as a seller has been extremely negative. The lack of consistent enforcement of rules, inadequate customer service, and excessive fees have made it clear that Etsy has little regard for the success and satisfaction of their sellers. In light of these experiences, I cannot in good conscience recommend Etsy as a platform for selling products. There are numerous alternative platforms available that provide better support, fairer policies, and a higher level of customer service. Please note that this review reflects my personal experience and opinion as a seller on Etsy. Others may have had different experiences, but it is important to consider these aspects before deciding to sell products on the platform.

I've purchased several things from Etsy without issue. Attempting to sell, however, is a nightmare. As a seller, Etsy has done nothing but waste my time. I recommend steering clear of their immensely frustrating nonsense. After I changed my phone number, I was locked out of my Etsy shop with the only option being a sad dance with their seemingly outsourced customer service department. First, I had to verify my identity, which makes sense. But when I got one of the requested bits of information incorrect - they wanted last four of the card on file and I wasn't sure which I'd registered - they added four more, different items of information for me to provide in order to prove who I am. It's like I was being punished, even though I could still provide the correct one with another attempt.
We went back and forth, they were polite and flowery in the typically awkward language of outsourced help, and it was a different rep handling the case in each subsequent contact. This went on for a while, five or six exchanges, until finally it was resolved and I regained access. They apologized and seemed to care, but it didn't do much to soothe my frustration, as I believe a phone number change ought not cripple anyone, especially with a company this large. It's as though they had never handled a simple number change.
Once back in the account, I tried to list an item and repeatedly got a red-banner error message on the top of my screen. Okay, time to contact the clowns again. They apologized again, stated that their engineering department was aware of the issue and was working to resolve it. The same error thwarted me for three days, and finally I closed my account and sent them one more e-mail letting them know they are extra lame.
Shortly thereafter, I re-opened the account out of desperation to list some items that aren't moving on Facebook Marketplace. e-Bay sucks, too, so they aren't even a consideration at this point. Upon re-opening the account and attempting to list an Adidas watch, here came more problems, here was even more frustration. It really doesn't end.
The listing options asked who made the item, and I clicked "someone else" which, according to them, indicates another person or company. Ok, sounds good. But wait, it's not good, because etsy is terrible at simple things. Now the system wants to know who my production partner is, and what role I played in the design, i.e. what is my relationship to the maker? So, I backed up and selected "I made it" so their system would quit the squawking. I submitted the listing, it didn't appear in my shop, and instead I received an e-mail that "oops, it looks like your item is counterfeit." Oops indeed...my mistake for trying.
I have closed the shop again and messaged them again that they are an utter waste. I highly un-recommend Etsy to anyone who values their time at all. It is a waste. And even if they resolve this issue, what's in store later if I continue to list on their platform? What surprises will I encounter once locked in with a bunch of listings? How else will they thwart my efforts to earn much needed money? Only etsy knows.
Moving on to Shopify, even though it seems tricky...setting up a page, promoting my own shop, and whatever else Shopify entails. Run from Etsy. Run somewhere worth your while. It's unfortunate that I'm here reviewing them in this way, but then somehow validating to know there are so many others reviewing similarly.

I tried to go back to check out and resubmit my payment but it wouldn't even let me leave my cart. So I make a different account under a different email and purchase the same items. Same thing happens.
I can NOT make a purchase from this company for some odd reason. They send an email stating several reasons that either my bank didn't have the funds or the sellers wasn't accepting my payment type and they weren't allowed to contact the sellers, and so forth. They lost a $400.00 purchase. I am very disappointed, confused, frustrated, and upset. I will NOT try buying from this company again.
Oh also to top things off. I lost two items that I was going to purchase. They were from independent sellers and I had to buy directly from them. Reaching over 100 listings, I typically lose interest in many things but This was something I was proud of. In the beginning of July, I received an email from etsy stating my shop was suspended. At the end of the back and forth emails from the automated system, they stated "we can not disclose why we closed down the shop".
To contact someone on etsy is a headache. The fees, the buyers, the layout, personally I'd make your own website. As you spend so much money on marketing for the shop you are marketing etsy as well. I spend a lot in just using their ads. Marketing my shop but marketing etsy because people shop around, etsy is no help if you need them. Etsy is very difficult to conduct business with. They go out of their way to avoid customer service by phone and hide their number well online. Impossible to get a phone number for this company. The ones I found were no longer working. They have a chat on their website that is also useless. It's a robot who has no clue what you are talking about when you type in your issue. I want to make several purchases but have questions before buying. The site is slight on details and urges you to reach out to the "seller." Etsy is the seller and I don't care who provides them the products.
When I tried to reach out to the seller, I got a chat box and was told it would take 2 hours or more for someone to respond. Really? Who has 2 hours to monitor a chat box and wait for someone to magically appear there? Take down the chat boxes for both Etsy and "sellers" and start delivering some customer service. I can imagine Etsy is losing a lot of potential sales due to its very poor customer experience.

The customers could be scammers and Etsy would always side with them and give them a refund without you even knowing. You hardly make any profit from this site because Etsy takes pretty much half. Go to another site that sales your products. You would do much better.

Within 7 days, Etsy took the money out of my account and refunded the buyer his money without expecting him to return my product back to me. I attempted to contact the buyer both directly by email as well as through the Etsy app multiple times with each communication including a prepaid return label with no luck. Etsy was NO help, so, I escalated things. I filed a police report for theft (see attached) and let him know I was going to consult an attorney & he would be liable for any & all collection expenses, OR, just simply return my stolen merchandise.
After threatening civil action, Etsy paid me my money back then promptly cut me off. I sell on Ebay, Mercary & Poshmark as well and have never had this issue. I get returns, and any online business will. The difference is all of them require I verify the product made it back to me before they refund the buyer. Just be careful. The Good: Etsy is an attractive, e~commerce website without question. And it does have a very good search feature for what you look for. Its messaging system, to contact buyers, is fairly good {Not as good as Ebay's, not absolutely horrible like Mercari's}. When you buy something, the checkout works very smoothly... After that, you had better hope that the purchase turns out good... Because if you have *any* problem on Etsy, then that's when your problems compound. Etsy primarily wants you to work only through the seller.
Imagine you walk into a store, and want to return something. There's no one around, no signs. You wander through the store for 20 minutes looking for some kind of customer counter. In the back of the store, you see some metal doors, with no signs on them, but you go through them. You see some boxes around, shelves, and an employee bathroom. Then you see a side room, with the small door open, and a light on. You walk over and peer in. Inside, a person is sitting at a desk. They look up, and ask, "May I help you?" "Yes, I need to return something. Where do I go?", you answer. "Right here", they respond... That's Etsy.

No customer service, no one to call, They won't answer the chats, they won't answer the emails, they don't even involve themselves in their own forums on their own site. Horrible company. They are doing this to hundreds of sellers all at once. With no notice. For the last 9 years we've always been paid within two or three days of a sale and now they're keeping 75% of our money. They changed the rules. They don't tell you and there's no one to call to ask that they refuse to answer the phones. They won't talk to the media. What kind of company does that? What are they doing with all that money? With over 7 million sellers, keeping all that money for 3 months, think about it.
They lure you in to say you can sell your handmade items or your vintage items and next thing you know you're overrun with china products. They seem to forget that the original sellers are what made Etsy. And items are being deactivated for stupid reasons. They pulled tongs off Etsy because it has to do a drug paraphernalia. You can't say the word ** because it's a drug word. You can't even use the color ivory in a wedding dress. The bots have taken over the site and there's not a human out there that is policing it to see if what they're doing is right. The problem is they don't tell you in advance what's wrong until it happens. If they suddenly decide a word is wrong they pull your item and they send you a notice saying that if you do it again they could close your site down. Constantly threatening to close your site down if you do anything against their rules.
The problem is their rules pop up on a daily basis and they don't send them out to us in advance. They only send them out once something happens. When you see the The head of Etsy selling off chunks of stuff, keeping our money, you can only wonder what is next. Someone needs to look into them. Bankrupt and no more: that is the beginning of what needs to happen to Etsy. And really all selling platforms. It’s becoming a real burden that every single platform continues to take the constitutional rights away from people as they can make their own rules up and you have to follow them. Etsy's biggest downfall: they cater to mostly the old. Most old people can’t even drive a car and yet still get licenses. Let alone read or look at photos. I have received more negative reviews from Etsy than I have on eBay, Amazon, Walmart, My Won site combined in 14 years. The reason: Old people don’t know how to use the message system, they don't know how to shop online, they don’t know what they are doing with all of this ever changing technology. It is getting to the point where I am about to start litigations against all these elder people and make examples out of them.
Something needs to be done. But either way bottom line is Etsy wants to be like Amazon and set their platform like eBay, but yet are failing in growth against both of them. Now they force you to pay for an ad you didn’t ask for on Google so they can garner traffic and percentages from sales while you pay the price for all of it. Sounds like business is failing and won’t be sustainable long term this way.

I've been selling on various platforms professionally since 2007. Most of them I eventually shut down in favour of Etsy, because at the time it understood home businesses and handmade products. Over the last few years this has changed, Etsy has been taking lessons from Amazon. The mandatory fees have gone up from 5% to as high as 20-25%, and higher if you factor in mandatory marketing fees that pretty much take your profit - they can be 5-6$ for a 24$ item, on top of the rest of the selling fees.
They have also changed their policies to strongly favour the buyers. Like Amazon, it isn't hard for a buyer to scam a seller, even unintentionally. There is very limited security. An example: A handmade custom item shipped internationally, no tracking but proof of shipment, can take a while to arrive. The item may take a bit longer to make due to demand, which was communicated to the customer. Customers who are eagerly awaiting their item want to contact the seller for additional updates.
Customer opens a "Case" something they have to do in order to communicate to the seller through the transaction, and asks for an update. If the seller does not respond within 2-3 minutes (MINUTES), Etsy refunds the item, even though there is proof of shipment and customer did not ask for a refund. The buyer is baffled, the seller is **. So be careful out there folks. I've been at this a long time, doing what I do the same as always, and Etsy has gone commercial, forgetting its roots in handmade and customer care. If you do use Etsy, use it to funnel traffic to your main website. Keep your sales small to avoid the mandatory marketing fees. You won't make much money.

In 2019, I wanted to have a Halloween costume made and had used the seller Kathrine @pinkpurr in the past to make me a costume. It was done to my satisfaction and figured I would use her again. The costume I wanted her to make was a Cher costume that had a great amolunt of detail so I knew it would be a bit costly. She instructed me to paypal her $2,500.00 and $250 for expediting the costume quickly but never posted the sale with the website Etsy. At the time not realizing this was a shady move by not posting the sale, she would earn more money and Etsy would not get a % of the transaction. She asked me to get many measurements in order to start the work. I found a streamstress/tailor in NYC to obtain the measurements and sent it to her. She claimed that they didn't seem proper and the project was halted.
Covid happened in 2020 and I told her there was no rush to make the costume anyway because everything was closed down. I tried to reconnect with her in 2021 and she kept me waiting a long time to respond. I got worried and called the customer service of Etsy to get her to respond to me. Etsy told me that they could not do much because she never registered the sale with them but they would try to reach her to contact me. t that moment I knew this would not go well. She finally got back to me but was livid. She accused me of reporting her to Etsy and get her in trouble.
I finally got measurements that were accurate and she told me flat out, I would get my costume when I get my costume and for me to zip it. Since then I have never got my costume and out $2,750.00 do not use this seller. She is a thief and unprofessional. She wrote messages to me that were heinous. She literally kept the my money I gave her to make a costume and produced no goods. I am looking to take legal action on her and get her removed as an Etsy seller but so far Etsy has done nothing. It seems they have sellers that are unethical and when something happens such as this, the buyer is not protected. I never thought this would happen to me and I was so disappointed and will NEVER shop on the Etsy website again.

Why do I need to spend over $200 in buying materials and expending my time to make orders, so that a someone that I don't know has a free item? This is not the first time. Overall, I lost over $2000 on selling on Etsy. I will stop selling with Etsy. I can't afford to losing money anymore. I feel like working with Etsy is like a gambling to see if I lose or win profit!

Etsy has been the worst seller experience ever, They have had my deposits in limbo for a month now. I told them they had the wrong account number for my deposits. It took over a week for them to put the right one in. 1 deposit was made to the right account, the other deposit they tell me today has been deposited into my account back on May 5th 2023. Then I read it went to the account I disputed being the wrong account. It's not my account. So someone has my deposit. God forbid they have a phone number to talk to a person. This would have been resolved in one phone call. I'm so upset as today of the 15th of May and I still have not gotten the rest of my money. I will be closing my store and starting all over somewhere else. All because of the worst and I mean the worst customer service in the world.

I am writing to express my frustration with the recent experience I had with Etsy. I purchased a wood lamp on April 5th, 2023, and received it on April 13th. However, upon opening the package, I discovered a foul chemical odor that was so strong it aggravated my asthma and caused an asthma attack. While I liked the lamp, I could not tolerate the smell, and I immediately notified the seller. He suggested I air the lamp, and the odor would dissipate within a few hours. I followed his advice but after several days, the odor persisted.
I notified the seller again, but he did not respond. I then contacted Etsy Admin to initiate a return, as per your 7-day return policy. However, I received a response from Etsy Admin stating that: "we are unable to mediate a medical claim, or a case based on an odor of an item received." I was surprised to hear this and was even more disappointed when you closed the case on May 1st. I was not aware of these qualifications in your 7-day return policy, and I don't understand why the item having a foul smell is not considered valid by Etsy or why that means the 7-day return policy doesn't apply.
I followed all the necessary steps and procedures to initiate the return, and yet the case was closed. The seller did not respond further, leaving me feeling cheated and undervalued as a customer. I want to return the item and get a refund as per your return policy, and I don't understand why this is so difficult to achieve. Either the item is satisfactory, or it is not. I am not making a medical claim. I am merely illustrating the severity of the smell. If having a substantially foul odor is considered unreasonable grounds for return, then the return policy is not honest or thorough. It is important to me that Etsy honors its return policy, which is what led me to choose your platform over others in the first place.

Etsy is the absolute worst! I set up a store selling very unique patches that were special designs in studio. The patches were considered by many as beautiful. The problem is after I set up the store I was charged a lot of money by Etsy to set up a multi-variety assortment of patches. Then they charge you 6.9 % of the sale. All this was known in advance but I still wanted to try it out. The response from buyers was great but the downfall was Etsy's policy of having to add tracking to every patch sold. The cost to do this is $5.00 per patch. This is crazy for I can send a patch in a beautiful nice clear plastic pocket and a nice envelope for 57 cents.
Get the reason for this negative review. I literally lost money with this crazy company. I do not recommend this company in any way. Additionally, I am a professional photographer and they destroyed my very good photos with their online craziness. There are many alternatives that are 110% better than this rinky-dink company. In closing when I told Etsy if the envelope got lost I will replace it immediately. They could care less and told me to close my store immediately or get charged again for my multiple post. The people are a bunch of jerks.

I ordered a pre-used Optimus FM/AM stereo tuner, with assurance that it was functional, but the component was improperly packaged, with no foam protection on the bottom. Not surprisingly, it arrived with a big dent on the bottom and a damaged tuner (the search function) on the front, rendering the unit unusable. When I sent photos of the damage, the service representative (Emma) insisted that the serial number was different from the one they had sent - effectively accusing me of fraud. With that false and unproven accusation, I was denied either replacement or refund. That's either fraudulent or incompetent. Either way, it was a total loss: $173 down the drain without anything to show for it.

I opened up my Etsy store super excited. The interface made it so easy to open up a shop. I had shirts and sweaters with logos I created. I then started adding items like mugs and baby items. One day, about 2 weeks into starting my store, Etsy suspended my account. It gave no reason. I researched the internet trying to understand what I had done. Some bloggers stated, "Yeah, they just do that." I had not violated any policies. I hadn't even had a sale yet! I submitted a request for explanation with every avenue I could, and received no response.
Then today, I look at my bank account and see that Etsy has charged me 20 cents per item that I had posted before they suspended me. So not only can my items not be sold or seen by buyers, but Etsy has charged me for their posting. I have never had such a bad online experience. I was really excited to sell beautiful items and create a real store. This crushed me. Etsy should be ashamed of stealing peoples money this way, through the guise of wanting to help the small business owner. After struggling to find the link to cancel my store, I finally managed to do it. I will never shop there again.

After a week he canceled the order saying that the piece of wood wasn't up to a standard. How did a piece of wood that was listed with a photograph suddenly become "not good enough"? Obviously he's a scammer and did not have the product that was in the picture. After canceling my order I was not allowed to leave a review. That's why Etsy has so many good reviews, it's because the bad reviews can easily be removed by the store. Etsy is a cesspool for thieves and scammers. Stay away from Etsy, stay far from Georgiaburls.

It was saying that the email was sent with an explanation of what happened and why, but for some reason never got anything. Tried to appeal the same day - I did get an email this time with an automated response: "Thanks for contacting Etsy. Your email has been escalated to a specialist who will review your account. It may take UP TO 14 days to hear back from us, as these types of reviews are in-depth. We’ll respond once your account has been reviewed. There’s no need to follow up with us from this or another account. We appreciate your patience."
On day 14th, asked if there are any news... silence. 19th Day so far - and again: nothing. But my card got charged yesterday for created listings, which I can not use and never used AT ALL. How convenient - suspend an account for NO OBVIOUS REASON, never reply - but still charge listing fees. A couple of bucks here, a couple of bucks there - and there you go: thousands of dollars of profit without even providing ANY explanation or course of action. One of the worst experiences I've encountered in the past few years.

Please anyone who reads this do not order from any seller through Etsy. This company should be turned into the Federal Trade Commission for misleading and inappropriate sales and failure to supply any department or number for customers to go when orders have been inadequate or incorrect. This leaves the customer with no place to go for your order and their site is lying and misleading the public.
I order Gluten Free and they show pictures of Gluten Free but in between all the Gluten Free items there are also products that are not Gluten Free which means the customer has to back out of their Gluten Free selections and the customers have to do all the work because Etsy refuses to properly adjust their page accordingly to show Gluten Free items only. Then in the descriptions many of them do not list the ingredients and that is unacceptable and inappropriate. I want to know who does the shipping for this company and who pockets the money for the shipping because they are ripping people off with their exorbitant amount of money for their shipping.
As a customer we have to do all the work to find the correct product and if we have any complaints Etsy sends this nasty inappropriate paragraph that tells us NOT TO GO to the seller but to Etsy. They say the seller has nothing to do with shipping? Please tell me why my product that cost $10 had a delivery charge of $18? I want to know if the seller has any idea of what Etsy is doing to them? Do they not think they can sell on their own without using Etsy? Do they sign a contract to sell on Etsy. Do the sellers see the names or their customers? Why are the seller posts scrutinized by Etsy before the seller can see item?
When I responded to the seller about my sale I placed a posting at the bottom stating that I would order again except the shipping is so high I will have to wait and Etsy immediately told me the seller has nothing to do with shipping and I need to get in touch with Etsy so that means that Etsy is screening my posts to the seller? I demand to know who is running this company and why is the customer who pays for that product being screened when they post an email to the seller? Why am I prevented from sending a message to the seller without Etsy screening what I have posted. Etsy is screening my posting and I am unable to contact the seller altogether.
I personally think that everyone who has been wronged in any way by Etsy needs to turn them into the Federal Trade Commission for false advertising and misleading the public. As of today I want to know how this site is getting by with "stealing" money from people with false advertising and shipping and leaving the customers with no avenue to protest or file a complaint. In order to file a complaint you must be registered with an account number into and registered with Etsy? What is this? This mean if one spends $500 there in one day and the item is not what you ordered then in order to file a complaint you have to JOIN and be a MEMBER of Etsy and have an account number and then state this information on Etsy and you cannot file any complains without being registered no matter what you have spent there.. That is a violation of my rights as a consumer/customer.
This site needs to be closed down and investigated by the Federal Trade Commission. I was stuck with paying out almost $100 which could have been more so I am thankful, but that is no excuse for the things that were not Gluten Free mixed in with things that are Gluten Free. If I eat anything with wheat I go into anaphylactic so my life is at stake here and for that reason they are discriminating against those of us who are handicapped in any way with giving us NO WARNING of any of these foods that contain WHEAT in their detailed description.
Any of these sellers who are selling their baked goods need to get out of Etsy and go into their own business. IF I have my way I will do everything I can do to shut Etsy down for what they are doing to consumers. They are taking away our rights by giving us no avenue for complaints. Yet if we post something about their shipping on the comments section we are reprimanded by Etsy because we are told NOT TO give shipping information to the seller? What is going on here? Once that item is shipped and the amount deducted from your bank your rights as a customer are gone.
Etsy has some good sellers but I refuse to order from this site again. Their sellers should open up their own gluten free food store for fresh baked goods and get totally away from Etsy. This is one of the bad online stores and I advise anyone not to order from Etsy again until they properly sell items that have a guarantee that Etsy will stand behind and get the bad sellers off this site. They have many sellers on here who are posting false information about their product and after we buy it we cannot do anything about that product. This is a site for some very bad sellers along with some good sellers and someone needs to step in and do something about what the seller procedures and policies are for Etsy. There are sellers on here still operating with one star.
Until this site is fixed and ALL buyers are protected without having to register by opening an account with Etsy I suggest DO NOT order from this site again. Until my rights as a customer mean something to Etsy by protecting me then I refuse to shop here and everyone else should file a complaint against Etsy through the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau.

Etsy has a misleading practice of telling buys there is a limited amount of a product they are interested in buying to build up some hype for their site. I recently bought a couple ties from someone on Etsy that turned out to be terribly ugly. The only reason I bought 2 was that Etsy misleading reported a limited supply of this product. These ties are apparently printed as they are ordered, with no return policy. Buyers be wary of this seller, Etsy allowing a no return policy for this seller only speaks to their low confidence in the quality and value of the products sold on their site. These printed ties are just ugly. The seller’s apologies for her inferior product fall short of any semblance of customer satisfaction which requires her to do something.

I woke up to an email this morning from Etsy indicating that they were making an 'adjustment' to a shipping label for an order I shipped out more than 2 weeks ago. They said they were deducting nearly another $4.00 from my account for this label. I was livid! I shipped an item that weighed 3.3 ounces, First Class and in an envelope, just as I've done for hundreds of similar orders like it. I actually entered the weight as 5 ounces (rounding it off), as I do with all orders I ship to avoid this type of thing. In my account they indicate that I shipped the item Priority mail and that's why they are taking money from me. They are WRONG. The tracking number starts with '9400' which is First Class tracking. On the USPS website, this tracking number clearly states that the item is a First Class parcel. What the heck is Etsy doing? So needless to say I immediately filed a report with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) this morning.
I've been shipping orders for 20 years. Also, this is not the first time Etsy has made an 'adjustment' to a label of mine. The worst part? Etsy is saying that USPS is creating this charge! I do not believe that. I am shipping constantly and the post office would tell me. I will be contacting them tomorrow to inform them what Etsy is doing in their name.
Now I am making the hard decision to only sell digital versions of my items instead, so no shipping is required. I'd also like to add that for each item I sell, there are FOUR FEE's. In the end Etsy is taking about 13% of each sale. This makes record keeping a nightmare! So if a customer orders 4 items from me, I have 16 fees to add up for one order!! It's so much cheaper to have a website, plus you don't have to put up with Etsy shutting you down, ignoring you, or stealing money from you. The benefits of having a website far outweigh the ** you put up with selling with Etsy. I just sell on Etsy as an extension of my website, but they have now ruined that option. I'm simply sick of Etsy's practices. I would like to add that I built my new website with Site123.com- in the decades I've been in business, so far they have been the BEST option out there, and believe me, I've tried many web builders. The Star Rating System penalizes a seller and prevents the stores items from reaching the search engines. Added to this is the fact they force the seller to participate in the off site ads at an outrageous price, and the site is now one of the worst to consider as a profitable selling venue. Plus, Etsy has allowed mass produced item on the site basically forcing the Handmade Artists off the site. Apparently, they just give you that confirmation as a joke and expect you to do this multiple times. What angered me the most is that Etsy suspended my acct TWICE in 2 months without notifying me. I had no idea until a customer asked me why they couldn't buy something.
I email customer service and 2 days later they say they did it due to they suspected an unauthorized person may have tried to hack into my account. Gee, you think you'd email me once that was done to explain why! I appreciate them wanting to protect info. I explained I will reset my password and to restore my account and I had to answer a bunch of security questions to prove I was the account holder. A few days later...crickets...still suspended.
I emailed their customer service (FYI...you can't call them and it's only email contact.) No kidding, I emailed them 6 times over 2 weeks and never heard back. I was fed up and filed a BBB case. About a week after filing they restored my account. To my surprise, I tried to go into my shop today and again they suspended my account. No email (yes, I check spam each time) or notification at all. At that point I was very happy to permanently deactivate my account and sell on another platform that actually provides customer service.

Etsy is supposedly about helping artists and craftspeople sell the their work. I saw unauthorized prints of my father's fine art in 2 stores. They were purchased at various brick & mortar stores and simply re-sold on Etsy. There are MANY sellers that are simply selling "vintage" items; NOTHING original. Grandma's old glassware, thrift store items, etc. If you search "vintage art print reproductions" or the like there is page after page.. it is no different from eBay. I contacted them and they confirm that this is not legit on Etsy, but they have told sellers the opposite. And, they seems to believe "vintage" is the 80's.. I am too disgusted to add any more details. I wonder where you go now for actual original art.

Etsy by far, is the WORST run company I have ever experienced. I have had a seller account for the last two years, making my first sale in January, 2023. Because some time has passed since first submitting my banking info, it needed to be updated. This was done with micro-deposits through Plaid, which I've never heard of. I verified my deposits with Plaid, but Etsy is experiencing MAJOR technical issues where they are unable to interface with my bank to deposit my funds, which are currently over $200. I have spent over 3 hours with their CHAT department, which is the ONLY way to connect with a human, if you're fortunate enough to catch someone.
This CHAT nonsense has been going on since Monday, Jan. 23 and today is Friday, the 27th. and still no resolution or access to my money. I sold a vintage clock to a customer TWO WEEKS ago, immediately after I made the sale. I'm now out product AND payment. During yesterday's CHAT session, employee 'LUIGI' decided it was appropriate to spout some dribble about a file in process about my account and proceeded to simply and ABRUPTLY end my chat. I'm not new to business. I have my own website and was simply using Etsy as an extension. I have since deleted my active listings from their site, for fear of making another sale that I'm not getting paid for. IF I ever get my money out of them, I will close the account.
This is absolutely ridiculous. These clowns can take money in, disable the financial arm of the site and hide by not providing ANY phone-based communication with their supposed customer service arm? Who does business this way? I feel I'm being generous here, giving any stars at all. I have a file number and was told Etsy will contact me when the issue is resolved. Supervisor Stephen gave me '50 FREE Listings' for my trouble... that's 50 more items I can give away and not be paid for. Really, Etsy - it's called 'E-Commerce' because theirs supposed to be money in exchange for goods. Get your act together. And YES, Consumer Affairs - PLEASE feel free to contact me!

In the meantime the seller commented which made it impossible for me to add a photo. So I contacted Etsy and they deleted the review so I could start over... BUT you can't start over. This is the dumbest thing I've encountered for quite some time. Etsy limits your ability to edit a review??? WHAT? They did repost the original review but told me I can never add a picture or change the review once a review is commented on. So they're limiting the seller and buyers' ability to communicate to others their experiences, good or bad, it's ridiculous. This is unacceptable from an established company. What an amateur policy.

As a seller on Etsy starting back in 2014 I never had any problems with Etsy until the past year. Then again I'd only tried to get help from them once and that was in 2014. The experiences I have had this past year trying to get help has been hands down the worst of my life. I won't go into it all but I made sure I kept records of everything between us. Four times this past year they have suspended my shop, which basically means close to the public and the seller is limited in what they can do/see on the account. The suspensions came about because of a problem in their computer system.
The first time I went for help I got the usual run around you do from every customer help line. But I couldn't call and talk to a person. It had to be all via email. That was in January 2022. They never fixed the problem. I managed to make it numerous months before it happened again along with a problem of them not sending me notifications of important stuff (like helping my customers!) via neither email or the app of my phone. I was supposed to receive both.
It took 20 or so emails and 15 different customer representatives before any of them would even acknowledge my problems and attempt to do something. And that was only after directly calling them out about repeatedly ignoring my problems. That lasted for a day and then I got someone else who went right back to telling me to pay my bill (which technically wasn't due and under $60CAD) and they would open my shop back up. I got no help from them. Basically they kept telling me the problem wasn't their fault despite it being their computer system.
I have never received any form of apology or compensation for all the lost revenue. Even when I called them out on numerous occasions for directly lying to me and showed them the quotes from them they still would take no accountability. They started out a great company for handmade stuff and small time sellers. Now they let just about anyone sell on there and I see many shops selling the exact same listings. They love using the hashtag #standswithsmall. It should be more like #standsONsmall. They keep charging sellers more and more and refuse to hold up their end of the deal all the while the quality of their site is becoming more and more like Wish.com or Ebay.
I have read many many stories like my own in the seller community and other stories of even shadier dealings with Etsy. They are outright stealing money from the sellers who they make all their money from. Sellers are already leaving in droves and their stock fell 45% recently. They have dug a hole in their boat and they are sinking all because they decided to become greedy and start treating the people they make their money off of like garbage and an annoyance. I know I don't plan on even shopping on Etsy at all. I'll find the same sellers on other platforms if I like their stuff. I refuse to give any money to Etsy whatsoever. I know I've never in my life been made to feel so small and not worthy of their time or help. Because according to them they can do no wrong. Well it's easy to do no wrong when you don't do a thing. Sellers: Enter into dealings with Etsy at your own risk and cost.

I had to send 10 emails and then they finally stated that I will not get my funds back because I violated their terms and conditions. Etsy continued to send notices that my account will be suspended if I did not confirm my account which I had already done. I contacted them and they said they would report the error. Nothing changed, I kept on getting the notices and finally a notice that my account was suspended for not verifying my bank account. Again I log on to the account and went to the link provided to verify the bank account and a notice pops up and says Already verified.. No further action can be done on my end.
I continue to contact Etsy expressing myself and that they are out of their minds and someone responds to me stating that my account will be limited unless I do all these ridiculous things like confirm the month and year I opened my account.. which is impossible. It was like 7 years ago. Who in the world knows this information. I do not believe this is protocol but revenge by an employee in response to an angry customer.
Normally you would get an automatic reply for something of this nature but instead it was someone at Etsy personally making it impossible for me to have an account just because they did not like reading about my extremely insane experience and my expression of said experience. The buyer sent pictures back and she only took pictures from above the hat. Her claim was that there was no brim but she was clearly holding and scrunching the brim in her hand under the hat. Even though my sister knew this was a false claim, she worked with her to resolve the issue according to her posted guidelines on her purchases and refund policy. She worked with the buyer for two weeks trying to resolve it, but the buyer didn’t like the answer and opened up a case against her.
Etsy, without even CONSULTING with my sister, made the decision and sided with the buyer. My sister was then out the money AND the product. Hello all - If I could give ZERO stars to Etsy I would!!! I had a shop set up on Etsy to sell homemade candles that I make in my home. As I am not tech-savvy, I asked my daughter to help set it up for me - she lives in Florida & I live in Tennessee. After the account was set up and my products were advertised, a purchase was made. This individual spent $44 in my shop, of which I was supposed to receive $30 in revenue after the items were received.
The items were received by the purchaser and I was supposed to receive the funds the following week. Apparently, there were fees owed adding up to $5 - which were paid shortly after I was aware that they were owed, however, I still did not get the revenue from the sale. Then I get a notification that my account is suspended at which time I tried to contact Etsy through email which was my only option and received No response for about 4 days. Then I received another email that said that my account was permanently suspended and gave a list of possible reasons, but did not specify which one it was??? What is this??? This is crazy!!!
1. You cannot speak to LIVE PERSON on the phone. 2. I never received the revenue from the sale that was made. 3. The email was vague and did not tell me what the reason was. 4. Did I mention, that you cannot speak to a LIVE PERSON!!!! I will never ** recommend Etsy to anyone ever again, whether it is buy or sell..... to me they are a SCAM - I want the revenue from my sale and I want to speak to a live person* to discuss the reason why the shop was suspended in the first place - and if the fees were paid (a total of $5) - doesn't that resolve the problem. As big as Amazon is, one can still speak to a live representative if you call them!!! This is ridiculous. Etsy should be ashamed of themselves for treating their merchants so poorly!!!!

The Etsy ads is a one way win situation, 20c per click? Er nope, at times I was charged 47c, how many sales? Yes I got sales, a few but not many and did get many clicks, even with the tags narrowed right down and then optimized, I turned ads off in the end, $20 in sales and over $35 in fees and Etsy kept telling me I was missing out, on what?
I was missing out on me paying Etsy to do squat, nothing except rip me off at every turn, I never realized when I listed an item that it got relisted at 20c for each purchase made, plus on top the high fee which is more expensive than others I sell on, I thought Ebay rip you off, Etsy take the record on that, I pay less fees selling on Amazon, do not advertise and way more traffic there so my advice, ditch Etsy, they give scam call centers competition and when you need them they more or less tell you to pump sand.

I created an Etsy account and spent hours setting up my shop, picking a name, designing a logo/cover photo, adding listings, etc. After a few hours, my account was temporarily suspended yet I received ZERO communication from Etsy. No emails, notifications, or explanations as to why they suspended my account.
I waited another hour to see if any emails would come through my inbox explaining why I'd been suspended. Nothing came. So I contacted Etsy through email, which is the only way you can contact them. It's just silly that they only have an email, no phone number or chat service, to get support for issues. I told them I had been suspended and would like an explanation and a resolution.
After a couple of days I finally got an email, much to my disappointment it was only a generic, bot generated response. This email stated that they were conducting an "in-depth" review of my account and that it could take up to 7 days to complete. I was shocked, 7 days to review a BRAND new account, with only 3 listings, no sales...Why would it take them that long to review an account with hardly anything on it?
Anyway, I waited for the response. While it didn't take the full 7 days, it was close. When they finally contacted me again, it was another generic, bot generated email stating that I had been permanently suspended. I was very upset. The email didn't give me any specifics about the reasoning, it only gave me a few reasons why my account may have been suspended. But those reasons just didn't add up, it didn't seem to apply to my account. Even if I did do something wrong, why not give me a chance to fix it?
I've since appealed the decision twice, each time I am automatically sent the same copy-paste email response. No one at Etsy is looking into my issue. They don't care. Something else happened that is absolutely unacceptable; along with the suspension, Etsy had put an 180 day hold on the funds in my account. Now, I didn't make any sales, thankfully, so I had no funds in the account. But if I had made sales, they were going to hold my money for 180 days?! And I know this suspension issue has happened to many other sellers on Etsy, both new and established sellers. I can't imagine how awful it is to have the proceeds from your sales held for that long, after being suspended for no reason. Even if the suspension is for a reason, they should allow you to fix it.
This experience with Etsy has been very poor. Their customer/seller support is horribly inadequate. Etsy doesn't seem to care much about sellers or buyers. I will not sell or buy on Etsy ever again, and I will warn others to be very cautious when doing business of any kind with this company. If you sell and have money in your account, make sure you withdraw it as often as possible, you never know when they'll shut you down suddenly and decide to hold your funds for months on end.

So I opened a case with Etsy stating that my desired resolution would be to receive replacement items or proof that the originals had really been shipped. Instead, Etsy immediately refunded my money, ensuring the seller that they were covering it for her and not taking it out of her funds. Clearly, she never shipped it or she’d be outraged. So now here I am, back at square one after wasting 2.5 months on her making items that I don’t have enough time to order from anyone else. And what is ridiculous is in the meantime, her store says the items are “in stock” and she is running sales. Apparently, Etsy sellers are under no obligation to communicate with their buyers and the buyers are the ones that are penalized. Never. Again.

The story is simple. Due to the situation in the country, I left for the UK. And I started looking for an opportunity to earn money, I decided to try to sell (I came up with and implemented the idea), I sell on eBay and Amazon for more than 3 months, everything is fine. I decided to try the Etsy platform and this is a fatal mistake.
Registered, provided all documents, bank statements, proof of address. Added a product. After almost a month, the first order arrived, I was very pleased. And then it started: An hour later, an incomprehensible ban arrives, I write to support and after a few days I receive an answer that my account does not meet the requirements (how did I pass the first moderation and verification then - a mystery), they said that I can provide proof of identity, accounts and then unlock.
I downloaded everything and waited, after almost a week - 0 reactions. I write again, they are all the same to me, and so I upload 3 times - I wait and nothing happens. Then a miracle happened - they said to provide confirmation of the address - provided and waited. There was no answer - I wrote again and the answer was simple and very clear: All logins are from Ukraine and therefore they do not unblock (the rules do not prohibit the fact that an employee is in Ukraine is FSUs for them) - this is the explanation for everything.
!!!Etsy Against Ukrainians!!! The funny thing is that they will not return the money for the goods sold, they stole the money and come up with reasons! In difficult times, they simply without thoroughly give a ban and that's it. Support generally 0 desire to help.

I know opals can change colour according to lighting but it was really obvious in this case that they were different. Etsy is by far the most abusive retail platform on earth, and a haven for abusive sellers... Etsy has reached a new level of disgustingly creepy behavior with it's new abusive seller protection program... Etsy enables abusive sellers by favoring such sellers in situations where eBay, PayPal and card issuers would clearly decide in favor of buyers, and then by allowing sellers to post obviously false, privacy violating, and slanderous responses to reviews, and then only deleting said seller responses if the buyer agrees to delete their review...
Thus, the effect of their seller-biased review polices is to suppress all negative reviews of sellers by making buyers choose between being slandered and having their privacy compromised in obviously false/slanderous seller responses (which Etsy will not address, even when they're proven in Etsy messaging) or having their true and accurate reviews deleted in order to get the slanderous, privacy violating and false seller response deleted (Etsy will not delete only the seller's response)... This protects abusive sellers by making them appear much more honest and trustworthy than they actually are... It's just creeepy the extreme lengths Etsy will go to protect abusive sellers...

I promptly shut down all four.
I have two more. They shut down one a month ago because they demanded my driver's license. Gave it to them. Open the store. The other store without warning and without an email demanded a driver's license as well and put the store on vacation mode. Now I had no idea that this was going on. To find out why your company is in vacation mode you have to hunt for an over an hour to get information. 11 days ago I sent in my driver's license again. Sent four emails. Response? Not even crickets in the forest. As soon as this is open both of these will be shut down again. I will never ever ever ever sell on Etsy again. Unfortunately, the ethos of the original platform has been gone, and it is now all about making money for themselves, at the expense of their customer base, the micro businesses, paying anywhere from 11% to 28% on every sale. There is no support either.
On top, They also charge on some sales a huge marketing fee now and there is no option to opt out. How do I know if that sale came from this marketing you charged me for. Why do I go ahead and spend on buying researching and stocking a rare fabric, making a very intricate design and perhaps when you charge me that marketing fee I make nothing out of that sale. There is no way to get support or assistance with issues or problems from Etsy. The phone number listed as corporate is an automated message that states it does not accept incoming calls and instructs you to use the website. Trying to contact support through the website only results in long delays between responses that are useless as they do not read the full ticket and just cut and paste information from their FAQ based on a few keywords (i.e. if you mention shipping you will get the entire shipping policies FAQ pasted into a response email).
Trying to reply and engage them only results in a battle of nonsense and useless information and repeated re-verification of your account asking you for your account name and email address, even though you need to be logged in to contact them to begin with. It is clearly a pattern to waste your time hoping you will just go away. Currently they will not allow orders to be marked shipped or completed without forcing you to buy shipping labels through Etsy, and they are drastically undercharging on the shipping costs.

He replied that my items were ready & would be mailed in a few days. Within days of saying that, Seller cancelled one of the orders. A week later, Seller cancelled my remaining order. When an order is cancelled on Etsy, it disappears from your purchase history and you cannot review the transaction or Seller. I am left to wonder how many times this particular Seller (smithsmoulds) has done this? How many other people have paid for items, only to wait & wait, then see their order cancelled 7 weeks in? How many other buyers are placing orders--like I did--believing there are no problems with this Seller? Etsy's policy keeps buyers from knowing the truth, while protecting unreliable Sellers.
I feel very strongly that customers should be allowed to review these orders, to be able to alert other potential buyers to what they may face. I would want to know I couldn't count on a Seller BEFORE ordering, wouldn't you? When I tried to find a way to address this grievance with Etsy, I was led in circles around their website: to this FAQ, then to this & eventually right back to the page I'd started from. Finally, I uncovered that there are only 2 contact methods: chat & waiting for them to call you. Opted for #2 & received a call from someone with a strong accent (India) who could only parrot that "you cannot make a review if your order is cancelled" over & over. I closed my Etsy account following this unproductive conversation. They give you no help, no way to reopen your shop. Just banned for LIFE. They suck. I don't recommend anyone depend on this platform to make a living. They can just shut you down when they feel like it. Take all your money in fees and promotion then throw you to the curb!!! Get your own website and build your brand because they don't care about you!! They have millions of shops selling counterfeit items, non handmade items and they are just up and running with no problems!! I wish they can be banned !! like they do shop owners.
