    I ordered 2 items both t-shirts for an 88th bday/68th bday-I kept watching for delivery but nothing came. I was told that 1 of the shirts were cancelled because there was no address on the order. That order was cancelled by the seller and SUPPOSEDLY credited to my account. 3 weeks later ETSY is trying to say the problem is with my bank. I have checked so many time that I am going to resolve this differently. The other shirt will finally be sent to me, unfortunately it took 7 representatives at ETSY to help me with the seller. LET ME ADVISE ANYONE WHO ORDERS FROM ETSY, YOU CANNOT COMPLETE AN ORDER WITHOUT A VALID ADDRESS!!! So one of the shirts is being re-sent to me, the other was suppose to be credited by the seller but to date nothing has happened. I'M GONNA HAVE TO CANCEL MY CARD, GET A NEW ONE AT MY EXPENSE AND DISPUTE THE CHARGES. I WOULD NOT BUY FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN.

    I would give a O STARS if permitted..One Granddaughter got Her Christmas Present. Other BEEN WAITING 30 plus Days..Ridiculous. Now refunding my $$ but WHAT about the Little 9 year old WAITING for her Christmas Present. Her Cousin Already received..So SaD.     Dishonest company with individual sellers listing counterfeit coins from China. Seller says contact customer support for credit. Customer support says contact seller for credit. Both are dishonest. No phone number to call customer support, you must communicate via text. I have a new ad recommendation for Etsy; If you’re a pirate, illegal immigrant, counterfeiter, or have any other criminal skills, work and shop on Etsy because we CARE for criminals. 🙈

    I used this site one time to order three t-shirts from three different sellers in the USA. They were all above 40 dollars per shirt. At that price, I expect them to be average to above average in quality and design. Of the three shirts, only one was acceptable. I expected to have a hassle free return experience. The first seller that I contacted refused to take a return entirely. This of course is the end of my shopping on ETSY... Anyone who shops on this site should check the return policy of the seller first... Or better yet, shop on a more reputable site. This is not well run...

    Etsy does not not monitor their sellers or back up their customers. Etsy lets anyone with an email address and a hot glue gun sell their junk on their website. The others price gouge everyday vendor/antique mall items and advertise them as RARE. One seller has a silhouette picture priced at $250 yet in fine print can’t guarantee its authenticity. Google lens their highest priced sellers items labeled as ‘rare’ and you’ll see prices all over the web for 1/4th of their price. Etsy customer service is a joke they won’t even intervene with an issue you have until 3 weeks after you try to get the seller to resolve the issue. Their reputation 20 years ago is faltering because of their standards. I guess as long as they get a fraction of the sellers junk sales they don’t care.

    I've used Etsy twice now and both times I came away with nothing but headaches. The first time a seller on their site was hacked and money was taken. I had to jump through hoops to get my money back. The second time I ordered a product of a seller in England. After a month of trying to communicate with the seller without any responses I was able to track the package to a US FedEx facility who told me that they tried contacting the seller to send the necessary form(s) without any luck. I tried to get Etsy to intervene, and they gave me the run around sending me back to the seller, who never responded to several emails. I eventually found the seller's own website and sent emails explaining the situation. And finally got a response and eventually they canceled the order and gave a refund. This all took well over a month, and I still didn't end up with the product. It's the last time I'll use Etsy. I won't risk more headaches.

    Etsy is filled with mass produced items that are not hand made. As a seller who makes one of a kind, hand made products, I am in competition with cheap, mass produced items. The platform does not curate its stated purpose of selling hand made products. Small sellers drown in competition from mass producers and non-hand made products. You can pay for “advertising” and promotion of products, but there is no increase in traffic, views, or orders. I recommend another sales platform other than Etsy.

    I have used over 40 vendors through Etsy over the past few years, most within the past few months. With only two exceptions, I have been extremely satisfied with the quality of items purchased and communication with vendors. Sellers bend over backwards to ensure customer satisfaction. My issue is with lack of customer service with Etsy itself.

    I cancelled two orders through one vendor, who was great to work with and sent written verification of my cancellation, but I received refund for only one item. Guess this issue has to be resolved with Etsy support which is totally nonexistent. No phone number and info on website as to how to contact is useless as many of things they indicate to click on do not exist. After many many great purchases I am now looking for another way to shop. Went from great experience to nothing but frustration. Guess I will throw away my current credit and gift card as no longer trust Etsy. Most vendors great but middleman not so much. Cancelled two orders and seller has verified cancellations submitted but only refunded for one item.

    I opened an account with Etsy less than a month ago. I ordered one item and received it with no problem with either Etsy or the vendor. I ordered a couple more items shortly after from different vendors, and all but two orders were cancelled with no explanation. Three weeks later, I was notified that one of those two orders was to be shipped, but it has not happened after 5 days of that notice. I attempted to purchase something else from another vendor. When I went to check out, I received a notice that my account had been suspended, without reason. I contacted customer service asking why, and received no response.

    I contacted the vendor and await their response. Now I have to take the time to contact my financial institution and investigate if I have been billed for products I have not received. I contacted a friend who is a long time seller on Etsy. He told me about some sketchy things they do. As soon as I reconcile this issue with my financial institution, I will be cancelling my account with Etsy forever, and will encourage others to do the same.

    Placed an order on 1/8. Was charged 18.00 for shipping to arrive 1/13-1/15. I needed it for a trip. When I checked the tracking it said arriving 1/17! Contacted seller and was told the original shipment dates weren't correct. It was Etsy's fault! And I would receive it just not when promised! Sent 3 more messages with no response at all!

    Since 12/31, I have been trying to complete a purchase using a gift card credited to my account. However, I receive an error message whenever I try to access the with my selected items. Initially, I tried another browser, another device and clearing my cache as per Etsy's suggestion. When that I didn't work, I reached out to customer service via chatbot and received an emailed response that the items in the cart would be moved to "favorites" and that once I move them back to the cart, I should be able to complete the transaction. When that didn't work, I reached out to customer service several more times, both via chatbot and email. The only response I receive is via an agent on chatbot telling me that someone will reach out via email.

    Today chatbot agent told me my case is still being "investigated" and I was given a reference number. This company's customer service is virtually non-existent. Moreover, how are you running an e-commerce business where the technology at the bottom of the funnel fails AND your team appears uninterested in resolving the issue?

    I’m posting this as both a warning and a last attempt at accountability, because at this point I genuinely don’t know what else to do. In April 2025, I purchased a custom wedding band on Etsy for $1,416 CAD from a seller called SapphireJewelStudio. This was a major purchase for me at a time when I was already financially stretched paying for a wedding. What followed has turned into a months-long nightmare where Etsy admits they have my money but refuses to return it.

    What happened (full timeline):

    1. I placed the order. I paid in full in mid-April. After payment, I received no confirmation, no production timeline, and no response from the seller.
    2. The seller went silent. I messaged multiple times asking for an update and then requesting cancellation so I could reorder or find another ring. With my wedding date approaching, the silence caused serious stress.

    3. I opened a chargeback out of necessity. Because I had no product, no response, and no reassurance, I opened a chargeback with my bank — not to get free money, but to protect myself.

    4. The seller finally responded. Only after the chargeback was opened, the seller replied, apologized, and confirmed they would cancel the order.

    5. I cancelled the chargeback in good faith. Once the seller confirmed cancellation, I voluntarily cancelled the chargeback with my bank in May 2025, trusting Etsy would simply process the refund.

    This is where everything broke.

    6. The refund never came. Weeks passed. Then months. No ring. No refund.

    My bank statement now shows:

    Original Etsy charge: –$1,416
    Temporary chargeback credit

    Chargeback reversal when I cancelled it

    Net result: I am out $1,416 and received nothing.

    7. Etsy and my bank blamed each other

    My bank has confirmed:

    The chargeback is fully closed.
    They cannot reopen it.

    The funds are with Etsy.

    Etsy, meanwhile, claims:

    They can’t refund me because there was a chargeback.

    Despite the fact that:

    The chargeback was cancelled months ago.
    The order was cancelled well within Etsy’s 180-day refund window.
    The seller confirmed the cancellation.
    Etsy support admitted they attempted to refund me.

    Etsy admitted they currently have the money.

    8. Etsy now says it’s “not possible” to return my money

    Multiple Etsy agents have acknowledged in writing that:

    The order was cancelled.
    A refund was attempted.
    The funds were not returned.
    The chargeback no longer exists.

    Yet they still refuse to issue the refund.

    At this point, I have no product, no refund, and no meaningful explanation. I’ve exhausted every escalation path. Before posting here, I want to be clear: this is not my first stop.

    Over the past several months, I have:

    Emailed Etsy’s CEO and several high-ranking executives
    Contacted Etsy’s legal, billing, and dispute-resolution emails
    Attempted phone support (which is effectively nonexistent)
    Escalated repeatedly through Etsy’s chat system, which often times out or routes back to AI
    Worked extensively with my bank, including formally cancelling the chargeback in good faith

    I have received no response from the CEO or senior leadership.

    My bank has now confirmed that because the chargeback is closed and reversed, they can no longer help. The money is not in limbo — it is with Etsy. Every path leads back to Etsy, and Etsy simply refuses to take ownership of returning the money. Why this has been so damaging? This didn’t happen in a vacuum. This was during wedding planning — deposits, vendors, and unexpected expenses piling up. Losing $1,416 at that moment caused real financial strain and anxiety.

    What’s been most upsetting isn’t just the money — it’s the complete lack of accountability:

    No direct escalation path
    No ownership of the issue
    Repetitive copy-paste responses
    Being bounced between AI chat, time-limited agents, and silence

    I’ve spent months trying to fix something that should have taken one refund click.

    The seller confirming cancellation
    My bank confirming the chargeback cancellation
    Etsy agents admitting they attempted to refund me

    Etsy agents acknowledging they have the funds but cannot return them

    Everything is documented. Why I’m posting? I’m not posting this for sympathy. I’m posting because this could happen to anyone, especially with large, time-sensitive purchases like wedding items.

    If anyone here has: Experienced something similar, Successfully escalated a case like this, Advice on next steps (regulators, Visa, legal options, media), I would genuinely appreciate hearing from you. And if any Etsy employees or moderators are here and willing to actually help, I’m happy to provide the full case details. Please be careful with large purchases on Etsy. I followed the rules, acted in good faith, and still lost over $1,400.

    CLEOPATRAEGYPT, an ETSY company, sold me a bracelet and earrings that were supposed to be 925 silver, gold-plated with 18 k gold. What they really sold me was a cheap metal alloy, as confirmed by a local jewelry store. Pictures below show that the band on the bracelet was rubber, not leather, as advertised on site. You can also see part of the metal bracelet. I was also charged $34 tariff fees, also not mentioned on the website. When I complained to Etsy, they supported the seller, even though I had text and pictures to verify my claim. But the worst thing of all is that, by some means, CleopatraEgypt CHANGED MY 1 STAR RATING TO A 4 STAR RATING!

    I ordered a sink on Etsy last June and it took months to receive. When I finally got it, the box was flimsy and the sink was broken inside. I notified the seller immediately. She said she would make a new one and she wanted me to pay for the shipping. I told her to go through her insurance. This was not my fault it was packaged poorly. Months went by and she claims she shipped the replacement. Nothing. I reached out and asked her for a tracking number. She replied that the shipping company was unprofessional and was sending it back to her.

    Months later and many messages later, the seller has ghosted me and will not respond. I sent a message to Etsy so called support and they told me that it was more than 100 days and they could not help me. They reviewed what this scammer did to me but would not help me. This is theft and fraud- Etsy and the seller. Shame on them! Now I see this is a common scam they do to people. Just horrible! I’m looking into an attorney. This is ripe for a class action lawsuit.

    They are scammers. I opened one store on Etsy, but in the end do not pay. Multiple times, I asked for payment, but no payment was received. Customers made the payments and left good reviews about the store. After checking online, thousands of buyers and sellers are having problems.

    Horrible customer service!! It is very difficult to reach a person. The "chat" is difficult to find, and often does not work. I was charged 29.00 to start shop, and then offered a 10.00 boost. Being new I thought the boost would help. I had a very difficult time listing items. They ask for a ton of details, and those details kept disappearing when I went to grab the photos causing me to need to re-do the listings over and over again.

    Because of this I asked for a refund within 24 hours. I was told none of the fees were refundable, not even the 10.00 monthly boost. I opened my shop Dec. 17, and they are charging me again on Jan. 01, not even two weeks after opening my shop for another monthly boost fee - this AFTER I HAVE BEGGED THEM TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT AND REFUND ME. I have written to them 10 times now with no relief. I even finally was able to speak with a supervisor, Vincente promised to close my acct., yet instead, it is still open, and I keep getting billed.

    If you have a shop on Etsy it costs over $20 to get it started plus you have listing fees that add up quickly. You receive more messages from scammers and after listing items you get a bill every month for each listing whether you sell anything or not. A complete waste of time and money from a seller's perspective. I’ll never use Etsy again.

    They allow sellers to bully customers and continue on other platforms to continue harassing and bullying customers. Threads continued shit talking in pic. If a seller messes up an order you either fix it or refund. You NEVER argue with a customer that spent their money on your products when you mess the order up. And to have this seller so petty that she not only harassed the person on Etsy over the refund she continued to bully customer on a whole different platform.

    I purchased 2 T-shirts that are not sized correctly. I had a difficult time trying to find their return process. I had to send a request by email. They do not provide a telephone number. The email reply I received stated that they do not do refunds. Very deceptive. I will not do business with this type of vendor again.

    I ordered some things for Christmas 2025 on my Etsy account. They locked my account. I tried multiple times to speak to an actual person on the phone but Etsy’s chat system stated they do not have a phone number and everything is handled in their chats. They canceled one of my orders and will not tell me why. I am trying to see the shipping on my other order but they will not give me a tracking number. I have given them multiple times to unlock my account. They refuse to do so and keep handing my email to other bots. Don’t use this site. I will never be using this site again. Etsy has burned this bridge.

    This is the worst company to buy anything from, first off I never received my item. Then I also do not have any information as to who to get a hold to in order to find out what is going on with my item. They took my money and will not return it. Also right after they took my money someone from another state tried to hack into my account. If it was not for my bank sending me a fraud alert they would have taken money out of my account. Do not and I mean DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. The item was supposed to be a Christmas present for my daughter, now she is going to be disappointed. BOO WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!!

    Etsy's automated security services are starting to annoy me. A few days ago, I changed my email address from Hotmail to one with my own private domain, and Etsy suspended my account few days afterwards because it was flagged as “suspicious.” I don't understand what they suspect; the email account is new and not blacklisted anywhere, I've been writing to customer service for days from my old email address, explaining that I successfully changed my address and was shopping as normal when they blocked my account—without even sending an email to explain why. I have a purchase in progress and have no way of knowing when it will arrive because I can't access Etsy, yet they’ve already taken my money.

    Honestly, I understand that algorithms make automated decisions, but this is ridiculous. I answered all the questions required on my email to restore my account, yet I’m still being bounced between different customer service representatives who respond via email, forcing me to start again with answers I already gave to the previous ones.

    We find it remarkable and troubling that Etsy continues to sell baked goods without important nutrition labels. Fat, Sugar, Oils content are not available. Etsy management apparently is living in the dark ages. This is an ongoing situation where the health of the customer is ignored.

    Customer support sucks. While I have purchased some cool things thru Etsy, the site and management is a bit screwed up. I got my account suspended over what was suspicious activity as a security measure. I was persistent. Almost every time I wrote my inquiry and gave them data to resolve my case, they would respond with no less than a half dozen emails from different support staff asking the same questions... over and over. No resolve. After one of them said, they would just set me up a new account with a separate email (no transfer of my past messages or history/no past payments or purchases), I asked my history would transfer and all Jeremy responded was "dont worry about it. you can now shop Etsy again".

    In the interim they canceled payments I had pending, canceled my orders... reversed payment to the vendor(s)... I finally looked on my credit card statement and for the 492.00 order I placed and they canceled and reversed the payment, I guess they over rode that with a charge from the same company for over 800.00 that I never approved. When I presented one of their customer care agents with documentation, they said they would escalate the issue. Today I am asked to send them all the info again. They have a nice online storefront, but their business end bucks to high heaven.

    This site feels like it's run by entitled people that think highly of themselves. They permanently suspended my 6 year seller account for no reason. Mind you I have clients that already paid OVER 500£ worth of money for pre made items and because of this I CANNOT get in contact with them. They never specified a reason, never empathize, never care, never give details and just say "read our tos." Well I did over hundreds of times. I only one actually violated them but That's only because they haven't been specific about that subject on what I can and can't do, I did fix the violation and after a few months or so boom random ban, no justice.

    Etsy is becoming a scam for new sellers!!!! I’ve never experienced such an unreasonable process from a marketplace. My account was suspended the moment I opened it, with zero explanation and zero activity. Etsy took a $29 setup fee and then shut me down with "Violation". What violation? Their response was a template message refusing to explain ANYTHING. This is incredibly frustrating, unfair, and feels like a scam. It seems as if they simply want to ignore the issue entirely.

    I ordered over $500 worth of personalized rugs for Christmas presents. When I checked my bank account, there was a $.30 charge from Brooklyn, NY, the same place where my purchases came from. When I called to question, I was told by an AI representative to give my email address and pay a dollar for the answer. He said I would get the dollar back. I think it was just a way to get my card information. I didn’t do it. For this reason, I probably will never use Etsy again and I’m sorry that I did this time.

    I recently ordered a ring from Hermes on Etsy. It was my second order. The first order came off without a hitch, this second order has been a complete disaster. It’s been excess of a month and nothing. I have emailed Bugra multiple times with no response. I want a refund since I have never received the ring. I will never buy from this organization again, if there was an issue, all they would have to do is reach out. Very dissatisfied.

    I am extremely disappointed with this Etsy purchase and feel completely misled. Before buying, I specifically confirmed with the seller that no customs duty would be charged. Based on that assurance, I proceeded with the purchase of an item costing $253.34. A month later, I was shocked to receive a FedEx invoice for an additional $131 in customs charges — almost half the price of the product itself. This is absolutely unacceptable. Etsy hosts multiple independent sellers, but this kind of dishonest and misleading behavior reflects very poorly on the platform as a whole. A seller should never provide false assurances just to secure a sale. Buyers trust the information they are given, and Etsy should ensure that sellers are transparent and truthful about international shipping costs and potential duties.

    I now feel duped into buying an item under false pretenses, and the unexpected customs bill has turned what should have been a positive purchasing experience into a frustrating and expensive lesson. Etsy needs to take responsibility for sellers who misrepresent important information. Until then, I can’t recommend purchasing anything from sellers who ship internationally. This experience has completely eroded my trust in the platform.

    I have only used Etsy twice as I recall. Both were for custom cake toppers. I ordered in a timely manner as indicated. In both cases (different sellers) the orders did not arrive in time for the events. Yes, the chargers came before the products. The most recent order has still not arrived. Happy Birthday Etsy!

    They seem to have stopped rigorous vetting of sellers causing many sub standard products to be hawked. I no longer trust them after being scammed twice now. I have closed my account after receiving damaged goods and having to battle for compensation.

    2 “Genuine” leather jackets ordered from 2 different Pakistani “leather companies” on Etsy: 1. None of the products matched the quality shown in the photos. 2. Thin, cheap split leather or even imitation leather, looks cheap and smells of chemicals. 3. One did not respond to my complaint. 4. One sent size S instead of L and said I should wear it and then I would see that it fits... 5. Buyer protection is complicated and my money is probably gone.

    First time Etsy user. Placed an order and almost immediately got this email:

    "Regarding your recent purchase ##########, from (store name): unfortunately, it was unable to be completed. We’re truly sorry about this and have removed it from your Etsy account."

    Contacted support and was told that my account is "not in good standing". What?! I've never used this website before... what possessed them to immediately mark me as "not in good standing"? Contacted the seller directly, and they have no idea why Etsy doesn't allow the order to go through. Overall it's been a frustrating experience and a waste of my time. Needless to say, I won't try to shop at Etsy ever again.

    Ordered 2 winter coats for people who need a coat for winter. Coats over their delivery date. I ordered extra large will just about fit a medium build man. The material is coarse and not how it looks on the picture. Outside zippers have no pockets and the main zipper is cheap and difficult to zip. I would be embarrassed to give this coat to anyone.

    Attn Etsy Product Manager - when a customer gets an email from a supplier, for example saying "I’m sorry, but I will need to cancel the order as the shipping cost is higher than expected," there is absolutely NO WAY for the buyer to know what order he is talking about! I order many things on Etsy, and if I don't know what order has been cancelled and what hasn't, it's a total nightmare. It's fine to cancel orders, but at least tell me what the order was for??? Was it a large mirror I'm expecting, or a small swatch of wallpaper? I have no idea because your process is poorly designed!

    I always loved Etsy, I generally had good experiences, and enjoyed the products. I've probably spent thousands of dollars. Etsy's customer support has deteriorated to almost nothing. For some reason, my account was closed. I have received no explanation. When I try to sign in, I either get the message that Etsy does not recognize the email, or, that the password is incorrect. In the latter case, if I click on "Forgot Your Password", it asks me to enter an email so that I can get a link - and then tells me that my account is closed. I've tried logging in on three different up-to-date browsers, I've opened and closed them, I've restarted the computer. Nothing. When I got to what I thought might be actual human being, I was told that they needed my address and a copy of a recent order, which I immediately supplied.

    Two days later, no response. Then I was told that I had submitted a request for an email change. No I hadn't, but the form that was supposed to tell them that didn't work. I informed them by return email - no response. I was so worried that someone was trying to hack my account that I froze all my credit cards. The support staff (or maybe it's AI) doesn't seem to understand that I CANNOT GET INTO MY ACCOUNT. I have been sent suggestions THAT REQUIRE ME TO SIGN INTO MY ACCOUNT WHICH ETSY TELLS ME IS CLOSED. I also purchased a number of digital downloads two days before which I cannot now access because I CANNOT SIGN INTO MY ACCOUNT. My request for reimbursement has been totally ignored. Considering the amount of money that I have spent on Etsy, perhaps my housemate is right in urging me to see this as a blessing in disguise to help me curb spending,

    I had such a bad experience with a vendor I have deleted the app and won't use it. I ordered a tray and the vendor didn't put the apt number on it so it was undeliverable and returned to sender. The vendor refused to refund my money until she received it back and sent me very unprofessional messages including accusing me of stealing her product when I went through Etsy to get my refund. Wow I never received the order.

    I'm a shopper on Etsy. I've been using the site since a couple of months and am generally satisfied, except for one thing, the reviews. Etsy makes it as difficult as possible for a shopper to locate unfavorable reviews. When you go on a shop's main page, the only options for sorting the reviews are "Suggested" (default) and "Most recent". There's no option to sort the reviews by number of stars. With a busy shop that has hundreds or thousands of reviews, that makes locating critical reviews about as easy as finding a needle in a haystack. There's also no option to skip to the last page of reviews (you have to go through a page at a time), and I've noticed that the "Suggested" mode seems to downrank low-star reviews, giving precedence to 5-star ones.

    I can't think of another marketplace platform that does this—Amazon and eBay certainly don't, the last I looked. Clearly, Etsy prioritizes maximizing sales over providing shoppers with basic tools needed to make informed purchasing decisions.

    This policy of hiding negative reviews undermines the credibility of the entire review system. I've been burned a few times by unscrupulous sellers who had high average customer ratings. I've discovered there are tricks shady shops can use to keep their averages artificially inflated, like abusing loopholes in the delivery status to block unfavorable reviews, and astroturfing (i.e., getting shills to post favorable reviews). What's the point of even having reviews if the critical ones are swept under the rug? It's shameful that Etsy does this, and it's made me reluctant to take a chance on shops when they seem even slightly iffy.

    I used to believe that Etsy was a place that valued handmade work and protected genuine artists. Unfortunately, my recent experience proved the opposite. I run a small art shop selling 100% hand-drawn pieces. A buyer purchased three framed drawings, received them on September 24, and stayed silent for 48 days. Then, out of nowhere, they claimed the artwork was printed, not drawn. We politely replied, explained how to verify authenticity by holding the piece up to a light source, and provided photos showing real pen pressure and ink variation. The buyer never responded, never returned the item, and simply opened a case asking for a refund.

    Our shop policy allows returns within 14 days if a buyer doesn’t like a product. This person waited nearly seven weeks and demanded a refund without returning anything. We submitted clear evidence to Etsy, yet less than eight hours later, Etsy decided to refund the buyer in full — over $100 for three original artworks. Seeing Etsy act instantly to refund a baseless case while doing nothing to stop actual fraud is beyond disappointing. For a platform that claims to support artists, Etsy has become the opposite — it rewards false claims and punishes those who create real handmade work.

    If I could give no stars, I would. I see why individuals do not want to this site. I ordered an item as a gift. The person I ordered for did not like the item because it was smaller than what they wanted. Because it's not damaged and the description was visible, the seller will not refund.     Etsy has absolutely no customer service. I recently went to do my first purchase with them and my credit card was charged then instantly refunded, I tried a second and third time with the same results. After my 3rd try my etsy account was Suspended. I have been going back and forth with them for close to 2 weeks trying to get my account un-suspended. After waiting 2-3 days for their response they will give me a vague response to which I correspond with a very detailed answer. I keep telling them in my long response to give me a detailed response. Which they never do. If I could purchase this product that I really like anywhere else I would have 2 weeks ago.

    I am in disbelief! I ordered a bronze silk scarf/shawl. I received a gold, not silk scarf in substandard quality. The hand stitches are visible! I now understand the "no returns" policy. I will never purchase anything through Etsy and it's associates (santanartistsilks). Do yourself a favor, find other reputable vendors. The cost will be lower and the product quality much improved.

    They suppress sellers in search results as much as possible, so they could force those sellers to pay for "Etsy Ads" which sellers don't even have any control over... Etsy "says" just "increase ads budget" blah blah blah... and they just take your monies and no sales at all... How it even possible with hundreds of "clicks" (that are clearly fake) you have no sales, no contacts for questions, no favorites... I've been seller for 10 years with great reviews, many returning happy clients, and they just intentionally stopped all my sales without any reason... Etsy should be brought to justice and those who are in charge are fraudsters... But they will never be, since they (I guess) bribed all in the "TOP" (who make decisions and laws).     When I first started shopping on Etsy some years' ago, it used to be a fun and trustworthy environment. Unfortunately, as the years passed, more and more drop-shippers entered the shopping arena to the point it has become extremely difficult to distinguish an honest, reputable seller from a "poser" selling low-level junk from overseas and stating on their site that they are operating here in the U.S. That’s downright deceit and fraud, so why is Etsy allowing these people to continue operating in this manner? As an example, a few years back, I caught one of these guys and even presented him with the full tracking data which clearly showed that the shipment he sent me was not coming from the U.S.... it was from China. The guy still had the audacity to continue to lie to me that this was not the case.

    Afterwards, when I tried to leave an "honest" review which wasn't in his favor, the same moron harassed me about it. This was only one out of countless encounters with liars and cheats such as this one! Recently, I caught another one who, when cornered, just kept lying to me and completely ignored my request to cancel the Order and refund my money... UNTIL she created a label with an overseas tracking number to prevent me from pursuing her further. Etsy staff appeared to be blocking my attempts to keep this person from stiffing me and getting stuck with tariff fees to boot by stating that they could not step in because the Seller had already shipped the item, which was not the case.

    As soon as I stated that my banking institution had been alerted, Etsy finally stepped in... cancelled the Order... and refunded the money back to me, stating they were so happy to have a customer like me… “Yah, right!” … like I’m supposed to believe that patronizing bunch of malarkey after they did everything to thwart my efforts to get this matter sorted out. This same scenario keeps playing itself out repeatedly to the point where Etsy has become an "iffy" place to shop. There are still a number of honorable artists and sellers who provide crafting supplies that I deal with; however, the odds of getting a liar and a cheat are getting higher by each passing day.

    Another "incident" involved an incentive Etsy had posted on their site to purchase $40 of merchandise to receive a $5 credit that would be added to one's account. Well... I made a $40+ purchase... noticed a "quick flash" of the $5 appearing in my account... only to see it disappear "in a flash"... where did it go? So then, I contacted Etsy Management to see what was up and it took one phone call and two chat line conversations to finally get them to honor the "phantom" offer. They wanted a "screen shot"... told me to check my servers... kept playing around by asking me the same questions over and over again... until I finally got pissed off and let them know how I felt about being jerked around like I was doing something wrong when it was they themselves who created that offer for all to see on their site.

    To top it off, they usually send Surveys asking me to comment on “how they did”! Are you kidding me, folks?… I guess not! “Do you want to do a Survey?” Isn’t everyone sick of that stupidity by this point? Well … I’m definitely the wrong person to ask to complete a Survey because I’m too blunt and honest to hold back the truth!

    Another issue... a number of messages I send to sellers as of late completely disappear... gone... where did they go? Customers and sellers need to be able to communicate with each other without any fears or doubts about where their words are actually going. If a critical issue arises and both parties lose messages back and forth, that problem only escalates to the point it creates mistrust and ill will. These are the problems I have noted that are getting worse and more frequent.

    I've advised Etsy Management of these very facts over and over again both via phone calls and through chat lines, and now it seems I have become an annoyance to them and they are doing everything possible to "trip me up" on purpose. Perhaps they have internal issues which are causing their staff to become resentful and destructive... it happens all the time... after all, we're all human here and there's just so much anyone can take before one rebels in some way or the other. In any case, these issues are destroying the Etsy I used to know and love... what a sad "State of Affairs" this has become!

    I’m seller, having horrible to no support. A shopper asked to cancel an order in a matter of one hour. Myself trying to do the right thing. Agreed to cancel the order on my side. Apparently, I have to pay for the order. So, I got charged to do the right thing (I could had shipped the item, or bought the shipping label). After contact support, got the same answer from different people, that it is on my contract. After I ask where the money goes when a shopper pay for their purchase? No one could answer me. Another issue also, I sold an item over 3 months ago, and I am still waiting for the full amount. If a shopper has 14 days to return the item, where is the money? That is why eBay is much better, we can talk with a person that actually lives in USA and try sincerely help.

    I logged in as a Guest - easy to do. Ordered some PDFs and soon got e-mails that said the orders were confirmed and were ready to download. Clicked on the button that says View your files on Etsy and got a page that says: You don't have permission to change or remove this information. I'm very rapidly losing interest in Etsy. Hope someone will provide very clear and simple instructions on how to take delivery of the things I paid for, because right now, this is a completely unacceptable experience.     Etsy cancelled my purchase and suspended my account with no explanation, because I bought (or tried to buy) several map .jpg files for a DnD campaign. The lockout notification asks me to contact Etsy Support or consult Etsy Help to regain access. The Etsy Help center produced a set of instructions telling me I could unlock my account by resetting my password, but the password reset tool simply informs me that I'm locked out and (you guessed it!) asks me to contact Etsy Support, refering me back to the same useless instructions.

    Over a dozen attempts to reach Etsy Customer Service by phone and email produced automated replies telling me to reset my account (which I can't do) or contact support (which is ignored), until after three days I got a reply, asking me my full name, account history, where I live, and information about my previous purchases, all of which I sent immediately, along with an offer to upload a picture of my drivers license. That was three days ago. I have yet to receive a reply, and I'm still locked out. I have a substantial credit on my account, or I'd simply leave in disgust and boycott Etsy from now on. Instead, I'm notifying my state attorney general's office and asking my credit card company to reverse the recent charges I made on Etsy. I really do like the Etsy marketplace but the service is incompetent and unreliable. For me, it's not worth the risk of doing business with Etsy again.

    I just used Etsy for the first, and last, time. I ordered a sweatshirt from two different vendors. In the last 10 days I have received more than 20 messages JUST from Etsy. Then the surveys. The notifications from UPS. I was stalked when I was young. Not like this. The requests from companies for reviews and stars is appalling. EVERYONE needs an attaboy. You were selling overpriced merch. I bought and paid for it. Ship it. Give me a tracking number. Figure it out. There are myriad companies that been proven to have fake or coerced reviews.     I’ve been a dedicated Etsy seller for years, and my recent experience with the platform has been nothing short of infuriating. Etsy removed several of my handmade beaded bracelet listings, claiming they didn’t meet their so-called “Creativity Standards.” These items were fully handmade, entirely original, and followed Etsy’s guidelines to the letter. No clear explanation was ever provided for the takedown. What’s even worse is that Etsy also removed my Star Seller badge—despite perfect customer reviews, fast and on-time shipping, and consistent communication with buyers. I’ve done everything Etsy asks of sellers to maintain a good standing, only to be penalized without cause.

    When I attempted to appeal the decision, Etsy flatly refused and told me I couldn’t, even though they publicly state that sellers are allowed to appeal enforcement actions. This is incredibly misleading and shows a serious lack of integrity on Etsy’s part. The appeal process seems to be more of a PR statement than an actual option.

    Their customer service is a joke—generic copy-paste replies, no meaningful answers, and no accountability whatsoever. It’s become painfully clear that Etsy does not support or protect its sellers, even those who have followed every rule and built strong reputations. Etsy has grown into a corporate machine that profits off small business owners while treating us as disposable. I’ve lost trust in this platform entirely. If you’re a seller or thinking about becoming one, do your research and understand that Etsy can—and will—shut you down without explanation or recourse.

    The worst company I've ever seen. Horrible customer service. When you ask a question and they don't know what reply, they send several templates on behalf of the "different representatives", and they are all the same word to word. I understand when people sell high quality replica, but here 5$ stuff (with glue everywhere) is listed for almost $300 and advertised as used Chanel lol. Sellers never reply. None of them. I have tried 5-6 different sellers, no answers. This platform needs to be closed asap.

    Etsy has the worst customer service, actually I don’t even think they have customer service. I have bought and supported several shops on Etsy. I paid so I could get free shipping. I can’t believe if you don’t buy Etsy’s yearly subscription you have to pay for shipping. It wasn’t like that prior to the Etsy insider. There were quite a lot of items with free shipping. Some sellers do not even thank you when you purchase an item. The last 4 items I bought were basically junk. I had a ring where the stone fell out. I had no responses from the seller’s or Etsy. I think some of the prices are ridiculous also. They are cheaper elsewhere with free shipping. I closed out my account after several years. I don’t know what happened to Etsy but it used to be a great place to get unique items.

I haven't been able to make it go away. Etsy's motto is about keeping commerce human. HOWEVER, it is impossible to actually access any form of live chat or support. Only a repetitive BOT So 2 thumbs down, Etsy, on the parent company's customer support. Individual sellers are, buy and large, fabulous.... so long as you don't need to converse much on the message portion of the app.

    What a bad company for sellers. I made my first sale after 3 whole years. I couldn’t see my shop and for 15 min I had no idea what I sold or where my shop went. ETSY suspended my shop and it disappeared. I provided my driver license and still it wasn’t enough. I am done with ETSY. I just feel bad for the buyer. I have no way of issuing a refund. Hopefully ETSY will take care of it.

    I bought some rattan from Vietnam to the US with "free" shipping. One week after my purchase Seller contacts me trying to get me to pay "$20 of a $60" postage fee he will have to pay due to being oversized. I told him no. Now here we are 3-4 week in and I am just waiting to see what happens. I have the tracking # for USPS for almost 2 wks now but it says waiting for package from seller. My estimated delivery is from 5-11th. Today the 9th and he messaged me again trying to get me to pay $18 now. I told him no and he was in violation of Etsy policies. He messaged me back thinking I would change my mind and I haven't responded.

    I submitted a report and did a chat and askes some questions. They were like ETSY has your back. Ya right. I am not getting my item I have waited almost a month for because Seller either doesn't know what he is doing or scamming all us. People must be paying him by the reviews. It ticks me off that this seller is getting away with possibly because people are paying!!! They aren't complaining. So I don't trust ETSY sellers anymore. It's too bad as there are some really good ones on there with unique things.

    Bad customer service. I was a seller on Etsy about 7 years and come back to sell it again. After went through everything (change the e-mail...), everything was fine. Suddenly, one order went through near Labor day... It puts my account on blocked with security purpose. It asked me to change bank account at first... then said e-mail is invalid. And after answer all the questions from different agents about 20 e-mails. Silent and no resolved at all. Even there is one e-mail claimed my problem was solved.

    Customer service for sellers is not existent. Also as a buyer on Etsy I dealt with a lot of scam shops. Once you deal with Etsy it’s hard to get any help. Customer support on email is not interested to solve any problems.

    I would give a minus-star review if I could. We opened a shop for my wife’s excellent craft items and had no issues initially setting up. Then had an almost immediate sales and that’s when it all went sour. When we tried to accept the buyer’s payment we got a message that we needed to confirm our bank card since ‘your bank won’t accept our form of deposit,’ or words to that effect. We went through the process only to be notified that that also failed, and to pursue a PayPal card. I refuse to use PayPal due to past issues with them.

    So, we immediately deactivated all remaining items to avoid anyone else buying something we couldn’t deliver. Long story short, we ended up closing her shop the same day we established it because we couldn’t get resolution, and are now out $31. And some customer is now stuck trying to recover their payment. What a sad thing from a site that used to be so good.

    I ordered items for my daughter‘s baby shower and searched to find parting gifts for the guest. I found an inexpensive option and looked everywhere to try to figure out where it was shipping from, but there was no disclosure on the site of buyers whatsoever. I was unable to find where it was shipping from. I went ahead and ordered the item and just got hit with about $70 of an import fee because this stupid seller is out of the country. My price on my items doubled! They are junk compared to that price I was charged!!!

    Etsy, you need to make sure it is very visible where these people are shipping from so people don’t get ripped off like this. I could’ve found many other options that wouldn’t charge me an additional almost $70 to pay for this crap that’s coming. It’s so not worth the money I’m spending and I’m furious. You need to market with transparency so your customers know where they are shopping from. Customers should not have to search the site looks I did to find this out!!! This is bullshit. I will no longer be using your service. Buyers beware!!!

    I've had two poor experiences with Etsy and their Sellers. The first about a year ago when I placed an order, payment taken from my account, but the product never arrived. After 6 weeks, the Seller told me it was on back order with no known delivery date. I asked for a refund, she ghosted me, so I opened a cased. She then stalked me on Facebook, stating the case hurt her business. Before I could get my refund, my account was mysteriously closed. I had no access to the order, or the case....no refund either.

    Second try with Etsy, June 2025, with a different Seller and account under a different name. I ordered two unique shelves to see which color and style would work. knowing I would return one and order the 5 additional shelves needed. Same problem trying to make the return. Seller would not provide address and going round-n-round in circles for 6 weeks. I opened a case, Etsy got involved, provided an Etsy credit (that will never expire on Etsy), and closed the case. Great customer service, right? Two days later when I went to use the credit my new account was mysteriously closed and permanently suspended without any explanation.

    Henry (from Etsy) only stated I violated Etsy policy? For what, opening a case to get a Seller to work with me for a return? The credit still shows on the account. but the account is permanently suspended and will not be reopened by Etsy. I guess Etsy was correct to state that the credit will never expire, lol. Two experiences, two separate accounts, similar results. Can't talk to a person in Customer Service, I filed an appeal and have been ghosted again. If you use Etsy, you better hope you get what you ordered, don't try to make a refund. or ask for a credit if your purchase doesn't arrive. Use Amazon!

    Etsy puts up reviews for other items under the item your buying. IF you read the reviews closely, you will find reviews don't always match item and you can tell it is for another item the same seller is selling. So, I ordered Two quarters, at least I thought it was two. The reviews all said Two quarters, one even said half dollar. I got one quarter and when I complained, they tried to tell me the people that got two were two orders? Why would they be surprised to get two if they ordered two. The reviews can't be trusted and I wouldn't put any confidence in them. Etsy doesn't want to change it and the sellers like the deception because they sell more.

    I have been a member of Etsy since about 2014. Lately, in the past couple of months, I have been buying a lot of inexpensive copper wire wrapped jewelry, as well as sterling silver. I have never had a problem with this site until yesterday when I tried to log on and was informed my account has been "permanently suspended." My reaction is WTF as I still have over 30 outstanding orders that I am no longer able to track. I have done absolutely nothing on Etsy except purchase products from their sellers. Their action of blocking my account without warning just stuns me. When I get on a chat with their customer service agents I just keep getting the same run around that some team member will send me an email at some unspecified time in the future to advise me what's going on. THIS SITE IS A FRAUD THAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS!!!!

    This review is totally accurate and obviously my opinion. I am so disappointed in a seller from Etsy. I ordered some pillows from Sunbrella boutique. I ordered them and asked when they would be shipped. 2 weeks later I got a reply from the company stating that they would ship on a specific date. At the end of that date I emailed and said, "Have the items shipped its past that date?" She responded, "I am cancelling your item." Not a... "It's shipping soon...no sorry it's not going to be this date." IT was, "We are a small company and I'm cancelling your item after waiting 2 weeks." I think customers today deserve kindness and a response to what is going on. I work in a service industry and I am ALWAYS taking care of my customers. Not so much in this case. I contacted Etsy and honestly they were great. I am only giving the bad review to the company on Etsy. I was so disappointed and saddened that they actually have companies that treat people like this on Etsy.

    No way to report 'Stones Company / Grove Gem Jewels' for FRAUD to Etsy which makes them complicit. This vendor lists herself in the United States but she's in INDIA. Her shop shows up even if a customer filters for "inside U.S. only". I don't understand why Etsy makes it so difficult to deal with scammers. I can't get tracking info for India Post. I try to purchase from websites for Etsy vendors rather than go thru Etsy itself. ETSY IS NOT A TRUSTWORTHY COMPANY!

    I have had a bad experience with buying clothing from China. The material is supposed to be cotton or a cotton blend but is nothing as described. A chart for U.S. sizes is supposed to be used but I found the items to be smaller than the size on the item. Also, beware of any company who does not have a site for returns in the U.S. You will be expected to pay the costs of returning the item to China. Etsy should not have retailers who do not provide a convenient address for returns. This is bad business policy and indifference to customers.

    This is a great place for creative and diverse products from a wide variety of vendors. I have never had a problem with any vendor that I bought from. However, Etsy itself is another frustrating matter. It is not set up to be customer friendly. Just trying to update my e-mail address so I could continue to communicate with sellers was a totally frustrating, failed experience. Etsy ended up refusing to do it because I couldn't provide verification that I am a vendor (What????). When I made my most recent purchases, I didn't get a confirmation e-mail that my purchases had gone through, and I had to look at my account to see if they were recorded, which they were but with no detail on the purchase -- # or prices. I am so frustrated with this company. I am going to try my best not to buy anything there.

My account was suspended over a month and a half ago without a clear explanation, and I have been emailing repeatedly with no meaningful response.     I sent my friend an electronic Etsy gift card for $50. The money was taken from my account and she received the gift card. However, when she went to retrieve the email with the gift card to use it, the email had completely disappeared. She could not find it in current, deleted, trash or spam folders. It was just gone. We have now spent 2 frustrating weeks trying to resolve this. You cannot speak on the phone with anyone, and we keep getting emails from various different people at Etsy asking us to provide the same information over and over. Now I just saw that there are no refunds for gift cards. Their customer service is HORRIBLE. Do your research and give much thought as to whether you want to use this company. They are thieves and I will not be using them again.

    My first handmade upcycled piece sold on Etsy, however the buyer was allowed to claim a design on the jean skirt was damaged. Etsy never gave me the option to protest the claim and refunded her. She said she would return it, and my policy clearly stated that items must be returned before a refund was given. I had no recourse and not only did I lose a beautiful piece but I was out $50 in shipping fees, since I paid the shipping and return shipping. The buyer was clearly a scammer who knew the faults with Etsy's Seller protection clauses. Do not use Etsy!!!!

    Updated on 09/02/2025: I was recently charged for an item I NEVER BOUGHT. By an Etsy dealer I NEVER HEARD OF. I contacted Etsy, but could get no response. I grew worried that my Etsy account had been hacked, So I closed out my account. At that point, I heard from Etsy. They only wanted to know my credit card number. I was not about to give it to them. They were very angry that I had closed out my account. (Apparently had no problem that I'd been ripped off by an Etsy dealer.) I did a little research on Etsy, and found out it changed hands a while back. I guess that's the problem. Really a shame. I was an Etsy member for years, and it used to be awesome.

Etsy is profiting from the sale of "Alligator Alcatraz" (better known as "Alligator Auschwitz") MERCHANDISE. Etsy is profiting from the sale of merchandise celebrating the opening of a concentration camp on American soil, where people will be (and already are) targeted and placed in unspeakable inhumane conditions based on the color of their skin. Etsy will literally never receive another penny from me.

    Terrible vendors, my experience in regards to plants are scammed, last 4 orders I only got two and neither were what it was advertised, 1st the variegation didn't include 1 of the three colors in picture of what was suppose to be a tri-color Hoya plant, at least it was healthy. The 2nd order that arrived were supposed to be vanda orchids that were so little and undeveloped I wouldn't have called them even a plant, they were supposed to have been young plants.

    Also, I ordered two different varieties and only 1 arrived. 3rd order, I got a request for review, even when I never received it. Now the vendor has a not available message when tried to be contacted. 4th order I placed it in mid May, it's the 4th of July and it shows as a sent status, but there is no tracking # and the expected delivery day, is July 21st. I'm afraid it is the same scam as the 3rd order. There is no way to contact Etsy, just contact vendor. Etsy is simple not a reliable service.

    I purchased an item through Etsy and when I had not received conformation of shipment so I looked back on my account to see what was going on. As it turns out the shop was closed and Etsy did not contact me to tell me the business was no longer associated with them or give me any information on how to resolve my situation.

    Etsy claims they have a purchase protection, but I paid through my PayPal as there was no indication that if I didn't use Etsy payment method that they do not guarantee anything. I feel that I trusted Etsy and it was safe to purchase through there site. Etsy obviously charges venders for services but they do not protect the consumer. I guess like everything else in today's world they are dishonest. I am hoping to get this resolved with PayPal we will see as it was a $300 purchase.

    Beware Etsy is nothing more than a way to get scammed by sellers that are helped by PayPal. On June 25 I purchased a jacket on Etsy that claimed the item shipped from the USA and would be delivered by July 7. The only option was to use PayPal to pay for it. I hate PayPal because it doesn’t protect buyers (check their BBB complaints) but I wanted the jacket and Etsy claims you can get your money back if there is a problem so I paid for it using PayPal.

    The following day I went to check my order status and there is a note from Etsy order that the seller and the item are no longer on Etsy but if you have a problem you can contact Etsy for help. After several failed attempts to contact the seller I went to get help from Etsy. When I clicked on the get help button it said to open a case to get help. When I clicked on the open case it popped up that since I purchased the item with PayPal I would have to go to PayPal for help. NOWHERE DID IT SAY IF YOU USE PAYPAL TO PURCHASE AN ITEM YOU HAVE TO USE PAYPAL TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM!! After opening a case on PayPal I learned the seller is not in the USA as advertised on Etsy and the delivery date is the end of July not the first as advertised on Etsy!

    I purchase 50-60 laser cut and CNC projects a month so sometimes it takes a while for me to download items. In October I purchased three items from Etsy vendors. When they were downloaded two of the items were downloaded same as the 1st item. I run 20 lasers and 15 CNC's so I don't use all the downloads and sometimes I do. But their cutoff time was an excuse for them to screw up my download and the seller and I have been in contact several times to no avail. Now Etsy says I am out of the timeframe for them to fix their screwup. If you do use them verify their product and your purchases immediately because then suck at customer service. Try Temu or Alibaba if you want better service.

    I find most Etsy sellers to be very honest and helpful. I can find very unusual and high-quality items not available elsewhere. The site is sometimes challenging to navigate, but worth the effort. Sure, there are some dishonest sellers, but I find Etsy sellers far more honest than those on eBay. Also when a recent purchase did not arrive both Etsy and the seller got a refund to my credit card in 48 hours, 30 minutes. That is why I prefer Etsy.

    Be aware of Etsy's vendors embellished photos of their products and specially of their return policy. Vendors are from all over the world and even so some advertise "returns accepted" it may not be possible to return an item that you are dissatisfied with; not only the international returns are very expensive, but the vendor might provide an inexistent address - such was my experience with a purchase from vendor Red Gift Box Crafts aka Samvel ** who provided his return address however the item was returned to me.

    I tried twice each time it costs $21 (see photo of the parcel that came back to me) - the address inexistent. Samvel did not respond when I questioned, and Etsy Customer just provided some AI generated meaningless answers. That vendor Red Gift Box Crafts still does business on Etsy website despite the fact that he misleads his customers, and Etsy was informed about the situation. The item is a St. Florian pendant meant for a fireman, but is extremely poor quality, paper thin and very small, suitable for a baby charm - I am stuck with it and out of $225 (receipt attached).

    Have been on Etsy for over nine years. I was recently told my account was suspended. I violated their terms. They never told me what I had violated. First, the account was suspended. They terminated my account without telling me what I did wrong. Very poor service. They also said I couldn't even purchase anything on Etsy with my name. What does a purchase on Etsy have to do with your account which you still have no idea what the violations were, never explained? I have no desire to resume with this business.

    I am an interior designer and repeat monthly customer on Etsy. I purchased a custom rug via Etsy (Order #**) from the seller “Global Flooring Rug.” The delivered rug was materially different from the listing and what I ordered. Etsy later acknowledged this fact. The seller initially admitted the mistake and offered to remake it, then reversed course, falsely claimed the rug was correct, and refused resolution. This constitutes fraudulent misrepresentation and violates Etsy’s Terms of Use (Section 5a, 6) and Seller Policy (Sections 1 and 6).

    After realizing the rug was incorrect, I opened a case through Etsy’s resolution center. Instead of providing support, the seller became verbally abusive, manipulative, and escalated a pattern of gaslighting through the case thread. He insisted the item was correct despite clear photographic evidence to the contrary and mocked my claims. He harassed me persistently through Etsy’s internal messaging system and the official case communications, making it emotionally distressing to engage further. This created an unsafe and hostile environment that violates Etsy Seller Policy Section 3 (Communicating with Other Etsy Members) and constitutes psychological manipulation under FTC unfair trade practice standards.

    Despite my multiple requests for Etsy to intervene, the platform failed to stop the harassment or enforce its seller conduct policies. The seller eventually took down his shop, opened a new shop under a different name, and later reinstated his original store without any apparent penalty. Etsy was made aware of this deceptive pattern and did not act. This behavior violates Etsy’s Seller Policy Section 7 (Resolving Disputes) and Etsy’s stated commitment to buyer safety and marketplace integrity.

    In response to my negative review, the seller falsely stated that I was “extremely happy” with the rug, misleading potential customers and referencing a different transaction. This is defamatory and violates Etsy Terms of Use Section 5(d) and Seller Policy Section 6 (Providing Accurate Information). Etsy allowed this comment to remain public. Etsy failed to offer a full refund. I was instead forced to accept store credit. Under pressure to fulfill a time-sensitive order for a high-value design client, I used the credit to place another custom order. That sample was inaccurate in color and quality, and I had to request a refund again.

    The repeated damage to my reputation, delays in project fulfillment, and loss of client trust caused business disruption and emotional duress. I submitted documentation and opened a support ticket (including a case with Sage dated May 29, confirming investigation), but Etsy never followed up. They repeatedly closed tickets without resolution, sent auto-responses, and provided no transcripts. This reflects a systemic failure of Etsy’s Buyer Protection Policy and constitutes negligence in dispute handling, violating Etsy’s own Terms of Use Sections 5, 6, and 7.

    This experience has caused over $7,500 in documented losses and has exposed flaws in Etsy’s platform enforcement and consumer safety standards. The platform’s inaction enabled the seller’s continued operation and abuse. I formally request the FTC investigate Etsy for deceptive business practices, unsafe dispute systems, failure to enforce platform standards, and its complicit role in enabling emotional, financial, and reputational harm to buyers. These actions violate the FTC Act (15 U.S.C. § 45(a)(1) and § 45(n)) regarding unfair or deceptive acts in commerce.

    Years ago, Etsy was the premier homegrown and home-seller for handmade craft. Especially, it was the king of the cosplay scene! And it still has very little competitors. That being said, ever since Etsy became public and owned by ** stockholders, it has become a SLOP MILL. The genuine, good sellers constantly will lose sales because of how this company practices. I know that you, like myself, would prefer to support small businesses, BUT DO NOT buy from ETSY ever, as it only perpetuates their immoral practice and exploitative nature.

    I made 1k purchase from multiple shops and mid-transactions, Etsy CANCELLED the payments and PERMANENTLY BANNED my account. And they never gave me an email or reason why, even when I appealed several times. I even asked for a reason and they just gave me some robotic answer. In the end, you'd be better off just buying directly from the ** sweatshops or making your own stuff yourself. Literally the worst purchasing experience I've ever had in my life. I wish cosplay makers still were on eBay!

    On 5-29-25 I made my first and last purchase with Etsy. I purchased under guest. However I cannot check my order status without an an account. I have been bombarded with 2-3 emails daily since then. However none concerning my order! Why I didn't create an account was to avoid all these unwanted emails! Also they did a one cent check on my account to make sure they could withdraw funds. However Etsy and the seller did this. I was terrified until the next morning when bank opened to assure me they were legit. The bank also told me it was unusual to see that they both did this, they hadn't seen anyone do this before! My order is supposed to arrive by tomorrow, from California. Since I haven't received an email stating it has been shipped it's highly doubtful. If not I will be cancelling the order.     I had a bad experience with Etsy. They state you have seller's protection when a claim is filed. But when they side with the buyer, you don’t qualify because they don’t support your side. So the protection is worthless. A buyer purchased a lamp from me. My listing has a photo of the lamp in complete working order and no damage. The burner is. Completely installed in the collar.

    The buyer admitted she tried several times to get the burner in the collar. But she failed to realize she had it threaded wrong and her forcing the burner on caused it to break. She also could have ruined the threads on either piece. I have attached her photo and my photo. They look nothing alike. You can clearly see she bent the burner. Now it’s unsafe. She blames me for the lack of safety and I sent her a broken lamp. I am accused of misrepresenting the item without revealing information. How can I reaveal something that is not there. My photos clearly show the burner installed correctly. Her photo shows the damage she caused. She did not inform me she was leaving a bad review and filing a claim. She submitted her claim and it was approved in three hours. I was not notified until claim was closed.

    They took the refund from my account and gave her a full refund. All this before asking her to request a return label from me and the refund will be applied when I receive the item. So now I have no recourse to force her to mail the item. Why would she care. She made a bogus claim and got her money. She is free and clear. Meanwhile I am sitting without double the money. She gets everything. Etsy only hears one side and to get it out of the system they approve and close. My word means nothing. Meanwhile buyers know how to manipulate the system and get their money back plus keep the item.

    Etsy has terrible policies that don’t support sellers. I had a five star rating. No complaints. You get one bad apple that wants to blame the seller to get money back on an item they broke. I just don’t understand how they can make all these decisions and I am left high and dry. I removed all of my listings. I will just sell on my other reliable platforms. I can’t pay high fees and lose out every time a buyer decides they want a refund by making a bogus claim and making the seller look like the bad guy and a liar. I won’t support Etsy and I will continue to find posts to call them out. Their unethical practices are not acceptable. They should be investigated on how many times they side with a buyer and approve everything so quickly you have no ability to make a case. Etsy should be ashamed.

    I created an Etsy account about a year ago. I made one purchase which was paid for and I recieved the item. No complaints. I come back to log in about a year later cause I'm looking to start my own small business on the platform and I get a prompt on login that my account has been suspended like a week after I had opened it and they claimed they emailed me as to why. I checked my emails, which I never delete and there was no email from Etsy other than the receipt from my purchase from a year ago. I've looked everywhere for info to get into contact with Etsy over my account being suspended and there's no way to contact them without logging into your account, which I can't do cause it's suspended.

    I found numerous boards/threads of complaints of the same issue with other users. It amazes me that such a huge platform lacks any kind of customer service. Guess I'll be taking my business elsewhere. I'd advise others to do the same, as if it's this easy to lose your account over nothing, then it might really put someone behind who has put in so much work. Save yourself the trouble.

    I ordered a washer-dryer topper. The seller showed a good quality product on the site. What I received was terrible. It was very poor quality and a terrible finish. I put in a dispute to Etsy. I could tell from their remarks that they did not take the time to review all the correspondence that I had with the seller. The seller had a terrible return policy. The buyer has to pay for the return shipping and 50% is taken out of the refund then the seller has the item to resell. The worst customer service I ever had on Etsy. Etsy stated there was not enough proof that I didn't receive what they were advertising. I think the picture of what I received shows how bad the product was that I received. It was an extremely terrible piece of wood!

    I’ve been a loyal seller on Etsy, putting my heart and effort into providing quality products and outstanding customer service. My shop had excellent ratings and satisfied customers, yet out of nowhere, my account was suspended without explanation. I have tried to reach out to Etsy’s support multiple times, asking for clarification or a chance to resolve any issues, but I’ve received no clear response or resolution. The lack of transparency and communication is incredibly frustrating and disheartening, especially for small business owners who rely on the platform.

    Etsy claims to support independent creators, but this experience has made me feel abandoned and powerless. I followed all the rules, built a trustworthy shop, and treated my customers with care, and still, I was shut down with no explanation. I hope Etsy improves how it treats its sellers, especially the ones who contribute positively to its community. Until then, I cannot recommend Etsy to other small business owners.

    While I love some of the products on Etsy, their "send the code via email" system is the worst I have experienced. You can't communicate with a vendor, leave feedback, or do anything without signing in. You can't even check out if you have an account and are already signed in. You get a flag saying you will get a verification code, EXCEPT THAT IT NEVER CAME!!! It's a very frustrating experience. I had to go somewhere else.

    I have never had such difficulty with an online purchase. I tried to buy a digital asset, twice. The first time, I checked out as a guest. I received an email that requires me to log into my account to access my purchase. You see the breakdown in basic logic here? I cannot access my purchase because there is no account to log into.

    I then gave Etsy my money a second time after I opened an account and purchased the same digital asset. This time, I was able to see that I purchased it, but the status read "Payment Processing" indefinitely. I tried to request a refund and got an error message. I then tried to contact customer support and had a conversation with an incapable chatbot. See the picture. The sad thing is that these are very small purchases and I can't justify spending an hour of my time pursuing a solution with Etsy.

    I have give Etsy many tries. Three now however I am done. I always want to help the small businesses owner but it appears they are nice as long as they have your possible order in hand but after it’s shipped, well that’s YOUR PROBLEM!!! They charge enough for shipping that it does have insurance but still it’s MY PROBLEM because I didn’t receive it! I am deleting the Etsy app and will never go back!     This is the worst and most untrustworthy platform in the world! When a seller agrees on a product and a shipping timeline, they can provide you with an update on shipping and then change the date to 30 days later! Sellers on Etsy engage in unethical practices that essentially allow them to legally steal money. Furthermore, filing a support case with Etsy is utterly useless! The best option is to contact your bank ASAP to get your refund and let the bank deal with Etsy, forcing them to address the issue with the seller.

    According to Etsy's policy, the sellers are the owners who write their own policies. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Etsy! Trust me, you will get burned at some point! I have tried them twice with the same disappointing results. After this last mess, I will be closing my Etsy account. Heading to the BBB site, which I am sure Etsy has bad reviews there as well! They proudly proclaim that they have no phone number and their robot so-called "customer (non)service" is downright offensive. When I click on a message from them, I get an error message.     The products I have bought from Etsy have not disappointed except for two issues. The first is clothing. Everything is too small. I've bought multiple pieces and all had to be given away. The second issue is shipping. If they give you a delivery date, add one week. If you need something by a certain date, do not depend on it. On the day of delivery promised, if you check tracking, the item will still be in transit and delivery date changed. Horrible.

    I've made a handful of purchases over the years (maybe 5). I've never had issues except maybe with shipping times or damaged goods. I never got refunds or posted really nasty reviews. I always provide the pros and cons when applicable and remain objective. I have had to get help with account access and combine accounts I was unable to access to see order/shipping status.

    In the past, I was impressed with how helpful Etsy actually was and gladly looked through the shops and looked forward to discovering new sellers and products. However, I recently was unable to recover accounts and have been locked out of Google (and Samsung). I created an account, and had not had the account for long before placing a couple orders. One purchase vanished and didn't process the payment. I couldn't find any trace of it so I inquired of seller if she knew what had happened, and I thanked her for her for letting me know.

    The other order had processed, but it did not ship. I went to place another order, after reaching out to etsy by email for an explanation of what occurred as order was cancelled apparently by etsy, I could not place an order because my account had been suspended. I apologized to seller and filed an appeal. I did not EVER receive any notice prior or subsequent justification for this decision. It was permanently suspended and I cannot buy or sell. I am not able to log in and they refuse to answer any inquiries on my account status. I have an outstanding order that's been paid for (day before suspension) and no tracking. It would seem no sellers could ship to me since my account is locked. I am owed some money on this order.

    Also, I have been harassed by Etsy minions when posting reviews and making complaints. It seems they are above their own policies. I still have not been informed how I violated any policies or terms of service, and I provided all information requested. Yet, they can make this decision without allowing rebuttal and accuse me of being a bad customer in public comments. I would think any buyer who pays is a good enough customer to be communicated with and if any issue had existed then some mediation or communication would have taken place. This is actually a social credit system in the works so I am no longer referring friends and family to look at Etsy shops instead of big corporate stores. I had orders ready to place for a few sellers, and they've lost hundreds of dollars over this.

    I want my money back that is owed to me, and I want every seller to be aware of how etsy is blocking their buyers. Also, they need to have the decency to stop hiding when posting public replies. I'm accused of being a bad customer, but I haven't violated terms until Etsy refused to do what's right. Now, I am discouraging people from selling or buying through etsy because of what they're doing to customers and sellers. Etsy staff is in violation of those broad policies and can keep on making accusations.

    I will be spreading the word. After telling me they don't know anything about me or care, they still maintain I am a bad customer in violation of terms (yet they've not ever provided this justification). Perhaps etsy is not aware of what profiling, discrimination, or social credit actually is in practice. My name, address, and payment info was obviously important in this decision. I had a similar issue with a home shopping network where they chose to cancel my christmas orders because a previous resident had NOT paid for something purchased with credit. It had nothing to do with me. I've got identity/account issue I've been paying to resolve. Etsy won't even be bothered to let me know what policies I have violated or how. Etsy operates outside of its own rules, and I never believed this would be the issue I'd have with buying through etsy.

    First and foremost. This was my first time using Etsy and my first time purchasing on it. I was searching for a very special gift for a very special friend. That's is why I purchased it from Etsy it was the site found on. The seller made me concerned and wondering if I made a mistake even that the situation worked out. It has left a unfavorable impression that in the future if I look for another special gift I may or may not purchase on Etsy. The seller seems like she is cocky and grandous ego.     One painting that I bought was authentic. Another misrepresented the artist. The signature on that latter painting was not the signature of the artist described in the listing. That latter painting was similar to another listed on Etsy with the same signature style but representing another artist. What appears to be happening is that someone will paint a picture, and then sign it with the name of a famous person.

    I made a purchase and paid with Apple Pay like so many other merchants however I never got a confirmation e-mail etc, I checked my Bank statement and I was indeed charged.     False advertising allowed. Be aware. I ordered a 14k white gold necklace from Goldmira and received a sterling silver necklace. Reached out to the company and was told that the necklace was “gold filled” which the description of the item does not say anything about gold filled. Took the item to get tested by a jeweler and had been confirmed that the necklace is silver, even has .925 stamped on clasp. Reached back out to company and was not provided any resolution. I opened a case with Etsy and I’m waiting to hear back but based on the reviews on Etsy about this company, I doubt I will receive a resolution. This company is allowed to false advertise on Etsy and it’s wrong. I’ve ordered several items previously from Etsy with no problem but this has really changed my views.     SELLING ON ETSY: I was a seller on Etsy and had a customer request an exchange or refund for a customized sweatshirt, but SHE ordered the wrong size. I was not able to make a new one as Etsy has removed my listing because I changed my prices too frequently (trying to avoid paid their ridiculous fees). AND I had store policies that did not accept refunds or exchanges. Customer then filed a dispute and even stated that they got a size too small…but Etsy determined that it was my fault for it being too small and made me refund the customer. Etsy does not care about sellers, only what they can make off of them.

    **Important Caution Regarding Etsy Purchases**. Exercise caution when making purchases on Etsy. Avoid accepting packages that arrive after a 60-day period, as I did. The company claims to have canceled my package, yet I never received my money back. Upon inquiring with my bank, I was informed that a charge had been made two months prior, but I never received the product. When I reached out to Etsy, they insisted that no charge was made, and my bank informed me yes the transaction was approved but since more than 60 days have passed, I cannot dispute the transaction. My vendor indicated that the delivery would take 60 days due to being international, but after that period, her store at Etsy was closed and I did not get any refund. when I check my tracking number it said it was in transit from France then I realized it was an scam.     I purchased a leather coat from ESTY and saw an review of the items and one thing it said was that a person had to order a size bigger than what you are and so I did, but when it arrived I found that it was too large, so I asked for a return and was then told that I had to pay for the return, I told them that I wanted to return this item for a size that fitted me and that I would buy a more expensive coat from them.

    I've been a seller on Etsy for many years. I am now preparing to delete my shop even though I have 5 star feedback and a 'star' seller standing. Etsy has pushed me around for the last time. Etsy has NO respect for sellers. Customers are sometimes rude, and customer service/support is virtually non-existent. If you are luckily to have someone respond to you, they etsy always sides with the customer. They also keep increasing their fees, removed PayPal which I loved, and just do not care how their forced changes affect sellers. This week was the last straw. Now I'm leaving for good. I've been with eBay for 20 year now, and I can always get customer service on the phone or with an email. eBay might have also removed PayPal, and increased their fees as well, but eBay doesn't make me feel mentally sick.

    Yesterday I made a list of pros and cons for etsy. The cons FAR outweighed the only 1 pro that I could think of, and that pro was that I had a following of repeat customers. I also have a website, so those customers already know where to find me. I feel that by staying with etsy the only message that I am sending to them is that it is okay to treat me like a doormat. No more! Good riddance to etsy! Whatever etsy initially intended to be, is now no longer. I'll stick with eBay where I'm treated like a valued person. Being a part of etsy is like being in an abusive relationship, and one day you wake up and realize THAT IT'S JUST NOT WORTH IT!

    I did a 6 month experiment with Etsy providing e-docs for sale. The setup for the store was simple and straightforward. The surprise to me is receiving bills for clicks to my store. It doesn't matter if the clicks doesn't generate sales. Etsy still charges you every month. Overall, the platform is not good for sellers that conduct low-volume sales with low-priced items. I closed and deleted the account.

    I have been a seller for over 9 years on Etsy.. Their fees have been ridiculous and now their policies that they put accounts on a reserve hold due to accounts showing more sales than normal. Background of my business: I have 4.9 reviews, 100% in communication and 95% delivery rating (based on shipping going out on time). I have never had a case against me and am very flexible in refunding someone that was not satisfied.

    Their reserve system is that they hold 50% of your sale in a reserve and the other is not released until a package shows delivered. So if my dispatch time frame is 2 weeks and delivery takes another 3-7 days, I won't get any funds for something I invested to make until 3 weeks later! That is ridiculous. Not to mention their poor customer service. You can't reach anyone by phone and the chats are usually bots or someone that doesn't know how to resolve any such issue. Very dissatisfied and disheartened by Etsy and WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

    A rug was purchased in Oct but still hasn’t arrived. The shop owner has given the runaround and sends out bogus pre-transit notices to buy time. Found out the rug is an image taken off of the internet from the website or a well known designer and photoshopped by the Etsy shop owner. Etsy customer service does not care one bit the is impossible to get a hold of. They do not provide a legitimate contact number and opening a case does not work nor get response. Save your time and money. The sellers on Etsy are not vetted and the community is no longer safe.

    Etsy.. This about most of the sellers with the company. They are terrible (including the US sellers) and then there is no customer service where I can actually contact someone. I've spent the last 4 days arguing with a seller over her own policies she's has stated on her website. I will not be purchasing from etsy anymore. I've also recommended this to many many of my friends. This is the 3rd time to have a hateful and rude seller. I don't recommend. Honestly just buy from SHEIN or Temu. I provided them with the police report and they went silent. Who knows how much money their lack of communication might end up costing me.     Etsy used to be a platform that truly supported small businesses, but sadly, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. Over the years, their focus has shifted from helping sellers thrive to prioritizing profit and maintaining a buyer-friendly reputation—often at the expense of the hardworking sellers who make the platform what it is.

    As a seller, I’ve experienced firsthand how Etsy disregards its own sellers’ policies. Even when I provided extensive evidence to support my case, they ignored it entirely and sided with a buyer who clearly violated my shop’s terms. This left me feeling disrespected, unsupported, and questioning whether Etsy cares about the small businesses that pay their fees and keep their marketplace running.

    Etsy’s refusal to enforce sellers' policies or even take the time to thoroughly review evidence sets a troubling precedent. It sends a message that buyers can abuse the system, insult sellers, and tarnish their reputations without consequences. It’s disheartening to see a platform that once championed small businesses turn into a profit-driven corporation, disconnected from the needs of its sellers.

    If you’re a seller considering Etsy, I urge you to think twice. Build your own website or look for other platforms that respect and support small businesses. Etsy is no longer the safe, seller-friendly marketplace it claims to be. All I asked was that the customer pay for return shipping as stated on my return policies and I will refund her the money. The customer refuse and file a claim, the customer insult me, call me names and then Etsy gave them the money from my account and let her keep the items even though I sent the 10 pictures of my product, product descriptions, conversations with the customer showing her insulting me and how professional I was throughout the whole thing. It was only $35 but what if it was a bigger amount? Please please, don't sell on Etsy, start your own website.

    I bought two shams from the seller Spoon Flower. The picture shown on their site was of two pillow shams. I have two beds and wanted the same for each bed. Turns out the shams were sold separately. Again, the picture shown was a black background with flowers. When I received the shams that I paid over $100.00 for, the background color is NOT black it's a sick grey. I contacted the seller; she would not allow me to return the items even though they had not been used. Do not buy from Etsy, the customer service is terrible. I will NEVER again buy from Etsy! The seller Spoon Flower is a crook, she stole $100.00 from me, and she runs a fraudulent business.

    Worst customer experience with Etsy. The rep was unsupportive, took over 30 min just to send me a lame macro from the help center and didn't acknowledge or understand my complaint. They didn't take time to troubleshoot or investigate. She also showed 0 empathy and understanding towards my frustration - although the rep was the reason for my frustration.     I recently sold an item on Etsy that in total cost $255.41 The item arrived to the buyer late because USPS lost the item 2 times and a month later finally arrived at the buyer's home. The buyer then reported that the item arrived damaged. No communication was sent to me at all of this report. I only found out about this when $255.41 was deducted from my checking account. I contacted Etsy (of course only by chat because they have no telephone number to call), I was then told I had to appeal the claim.

    Well long story short they denied my claim and said that Etsy would not cover the item because it cost too much. (more than their protection covers). So in turn I requested my items be returned since the buyer was fully refunded. This request was denied as well. So basically the buyer received the item for free and can still sell it for probably more than he bought it for since this is able to be sold in pieces. So in the end I lost a sale, $277.55, and my item. Needless to say I WILL NEVER DEAL WITH ETSY AGAIN FOR ANY REASON.

    Etsy suspended my seller account after about 6 weeks and I only had one listing, just one, with no explanation at all! I filed an appeal and didn't hear from them for a month! Finally they responded and I provided all the information they asked for and after a few emails back and forth, me asking why and them never telling me why, they eventually responded by permanently closing my account. But they NEVER told me why they suspended and then closed my account!

    I asked them in all of our exchanges, "What is the problem?" But they would not tell me. Instead they would respond either with, "we are checking into it" or with stupid questions, like "Where do you log in from." I didn't owe them any money, the only listing I had was a purse, so that should not have been a problem. Honestly, I don't think the people responding to my emails even knew why my account got suspended so they were just making excuses. I'm telling the truth. The WORST customer service ever! I would not recommend using this site for selling to anyone! I wouldn't even trust buying on this site anymore. Horrible Customer Service!

    I have gotten some good clothing and products on Etsy but lately they want to charge for free shipping with some ridiculous ‘insider’ program. No thanks! Sellers no longer offer free shipping and descriptions of clothing materials is very vague. Also some shops show shirt prices at 60% off at a price of $8 to $10 but that is only for the smallest size! Other sizes are $20 or more. Bait and switch! I’m not falling for this. Claim regular price of a t-shirt is $40! Disappointing and dishonest. I feel some shops are taking advantage and increasing prices drastically. Back to Amazon.

    There is no customer protection policy from this site. The international sellers seems to sell unqualified product or not as advertised and said no return or exchange. If you got the wrong product because the seller fault advertised, Etsy will do nothing to help or guarantee like Amazon or eBay. I will try to go away from this site as it allowed bad / spam seller to take advantage of customers. Two products I bought were not advertised. Earring cannot be used, asked selling to send the right earring post but she doesn’t want to and Etsy doesn’t do anything to help. The ring from Canada advertised with beautiful color chart pictures but send me the ring with different color and not accept it was their fault advertising with the evidence of pictures, and talked very bad, rude to customer and will not want to accept their fault and not exchange the $100 product and Etsy can do nothing about it.

    Etsy doesn't care about its customers or buyers. My account is locked and is no phone number to call and talk to a person to help unlock my account and reset my password. I sent an email and while I answered all their questions, I still can't reset my password because they do not listen. They are sending me emails with a link to reset, which don't arrive in my inbox as my account is locked. I am talking to robots and people that do not listen. If this is not solved in the next couple of days, I will close my account and will find the competitor to join and buy cool stuff. Etsy is not worth it anymore so stay away as there is no customer service and human to help when you need help.

    I am an ETSY seller. Unless it is a holiday a weekend, I should be paid within 24 hours. Having worked in IT for decades, and a lot of that with huge corporations, I know that banking transactions take nano-seconds to process. ETSY uses Plaid to manage seller payments. Plaid takes its dear time processing payments. It's outrageous, unfair, and unacceptable to hold back payments to sellers for the cash flow it affords Plaid. After years of mercenary ETSY policies, I have decided to end my business relationship with them. I'm a not a big business and I DO need my money. I'm disgusted and enraged. I cannot recommend sellers to sell with ETSY. Enough is enough ETSY.

    To be extremely clear, my issue is not with Etsy sellers. I got my purchases quickly and correctly. My issue is with Etsy’s support department. I had an Etsy account in 2009 and did not use it again till 2024. I got into crochet so I found some patterns from some very talented individuals so I bought several and they successfully and quickly went to my email and I was billed. I went in later to use the patterns and they will not allow me to see them. I went to reopen my account. It said it was an invalid password so I tried to create a new one and it wouldn’t let me. It said I violated terms and was notified in 2009 (almost 16 years before) and I should know why. I was very careful to honor their terms and conditions when I used their site.

    I tried resetting my password to contact support. It would not allow me to, saying my account was permanently suspended. So, I tried to file a claim, it said the account in question did not qualify for a claim. That’s when I contacted Etsy support from my second email and explained my problem and they would not help. They kept saying that they really needed me to contact them from that email in question so I explained to them I was well aware of that, and that’s what I was trying to accomplish. Now it says I can’t purchase from any account I create and I am still at a loss as to why. They were not polite or helpful.

    They took my money and will not reimburse or ask about the payment method used or try in any form to help me work with them to satisfy the problem. If you are a seller, I would question how much more business can you get if they were easier to work with. I have seen some amazing craftsmanship from the sellers. It isn’t fair to the sellers to have buyers blocked for unknown reasons. I mean, a successful transaction is a successful transaction right?

After I have provided Etsy the test deposit detail and I have also paid the platform for account setup using my bank information, I find it to be an unreasonable and excessive request for me to upload my bank statement. Requiring such personal financial information feels intrusive and seems to exploit the power imbalance between the platform and its sellers.     I made a purchase that was not delivered. They gave me an ETSY credit which was fine because I had to make another purchase with another seller to replace the one I did not receive. However, then I did not receive the 2nd item, so I requested a FULL refund which included the credit from the 1st purchase. I was told I would receive this via chat. Instead, they simply gave me another partial credit. I was done making purchases as it was already past Christmas. They refused to give me the 'credit' back as a refund to my credit card. I now have to jump through hoops to file a dispute with my credit card. I have made multiple purchases on ETSY. This is the 1st time I've had such problems. I may have to close my account to obtain my refund. If so, not a problem.

    Sellers who claim to be in the USA still obtain their items from overseas but don't tell you that upfront. I waited over 3 weeks on some orders and longer than 6 weeks on another. NOT worth the hassle. I located 3 phone numbers online for ETSY and 2 email addresses. NONE of them are in operation. I am now somehow 'blocked' from using 'chat' after requesting a supervisor. I have filed a complaint with BBB and if I still do not get my refund, I will file a complaint with consumer protection via the Attorney General's office.

    I was instantly banned within a second of merely registering my first account with Etsy. I appealed, explaining I couldn't have done anything wrong since all I did was try to register. Etsy customer service asked me to divulge all my personal information "to investigate" & responded by claiming I was suspended for violations with my account practices. Etsy said they would not discuss further & did not disclose why I was banned. I verified I have no email records of ever have done business with Etsy under a different account name (in case I forgot). It feels like I'm dealing with a soulless A.I. instead of real human beings. I recommend folks avoid businesses that treat customers in such a soulless manner!

    The quality of the stores has gone way down since the pandemic. I will continue to buy my garden seeds on this site because I know that seller is reputable but many, like ChicholicByWeng, fail at communicating and shipping. If you actually want your goods to arrive, just shop at a more reputable company. Etsy is going to kill its own app by not regulating these sellers.

    As a very small artist seller I was drawn to selling on Etsy. After one year, getting no traffic even with paying their "advertising" fees. The fee for just advertising were greater than my sales and only 1 sale was generate from their "advertising". This site is dead, filled with mass produced sellers, who do not even make their items. At the end of a sale then there are there 4-5 different fees totaling near 25% of the gross sale, including sales tax and shipping.

    I have sold on Etsy for over 2 years now and on multiple occasions now they have haven customers refunds without my knowledge or contact DESPITE it being in the items description that I do not provide refunds and the buyers agreeing to the terms. Etsy has no care for their sellers at all and always back the buyers which leaves sellers like me in the place or not only doing work for free, but being over of pocket for shipping and materials. I will never work with them again. They're HORRIBLE to sellers.

    I ordered an item several weeks ago I was charged and an email was sent that it was received and the order was in Wisconsin. I tried to track it and they couldn’t find it. Called the customer service number and they told be they don’t deliver to my area and the item was sent back to the seller. The customer service person I talked to wanted my bank card information to send me a credit and a $100 additional credit. I was not comfortable with that. Why do they send an email telling you it’s in Wisconsin but now they don’t deliver to this area. I don’t trust ordering through Etsy and the customer rep has called me back numerous times I’m sure to get my bank information.

    Made a purchase on Etsy. My credit card was charged. After that the vendor was impossible to deal with. They showed my digital product as "shipped", but I never received anything. The vendor never responded to anymore of my messages after that. Etsy makes it nearly impossible for you to file a claim, because they're "what is the problem" selections at the beginning of the process are so limited and don't allow you to explain your particular issue, so they were USELESS! I still don't have my product, have not received a refund (even though I filed for one) and NO HELP from Etsy. But it gets better . . .

    When I first viewed reviews on this vendor, I read about 8 or 10 reviews. They were all 5-star stellar reviews, which is why I went with them. After all of this happened, I felt something was fishy, as a vendor with such stellar reviews certainly would treat me like this, right? So I started going deep into the reviews. What did I find? They had a TON of 1-star reviews regarding "rip-off", "scam", etc. But there was a review pattern. After each batch of about 10-15 1-star reviews, there would immediately follow about 10-15 5-star stellar reviews. And those 5-star reviews were all pretty much on the same date, so unless you read beyond those (and really, how many of us read dozens of reviews?), you wouldn't see the batch of 1-star reviews the days preceding the 5-star reviews. And the pattern repeated over and over for the months prior.

    So, obviously, the vendor is making purchases under phantom names and email addresses and writing stellar reviews to cover the ACTUAL customer reviews from people that got ripped off (like myself), so that unless you read DEEP into the reviews, you'll never see all the 1-star reviews. What's worse is that Etsy has this vendor listed as a top 5-star vendor with thousands of reviews, when in reality, the vendor probably have equal amounts of 5-star and 1-star reviews. Why would Etsy do this?? Because they are making BANK off of there commissions with this scam vendor, so they turn a blind eye. Which is another reason that Etsy makes it so difficult for you to file claims or report a vendor . . . They don't WANT to know, or deal with it, because that would only decrease the commissions they are getting from all of these scam vendors.

    Moral of the story . . there are many reputable vendors on Etsy. However, from all of my research since my incident, there are a TON of scam vendors that Etsy allows to operate with impunity. So, read deep into vendor product reviews. And as always, BUYER BEWARE!

I wanted a personalized item and now I am waiting for the bad order so I can return it. I had sent them about 5 emails asking to cancel the order which they ignored. They don't seem to care. I won't order anything from them again. They don't even deserve 1 star.

    Stay away from Etsy. This broker is cheating his clients. A silver chain weighing 109g and worth $300 costs $709. In addition, the product did not match the order. This is just one example of this company acting unfairly.

    I bought "handbook for the recently deceased pillow" from them over a month ago. They took the money off of my card. I still haven't received it. When I tried contacting them, they tell me that they don't sale that item even though I can see it on their site. Currently they have 3 left. Needless to say, I won't be buying anything from them ever again.

    I been selling on Etsy since 2021. As a seller we don't get good treatment. In order for me to speak to a live person I have to pretend that I am a buyer. For the fact the seller is the reason Etsy is even making profits we should be treated better. They take for ever to respond to emails and there is no professionalism. They will deactivate your products and can't provide a legitimate reason why. I notice when a product reaches a certain threshold here come etsy with the false claims. Now they're saying you can put what you're selling in titles so how would customers find us. We're not allowed to describe the benefits of your product and now you can't list the ingredients so how will customers find us.

    I went from 100+ sales a week to barely any a week. It's disgusting and they're messing with peoples' livelihoods. For some people this is their only income. If something is a seller description that goes against their policy then they should reach out to the seller and give them a chance to make it correct. Not shut it down without a explanation. It was a point where I would recommend people to sell on Etsy but not anymore because it's getting worse. Etsy needs to learn how to treat their sellers because without their sellers there would be no etsy

    I ordered a gift on the 5th that was to be delivered by the 13th. I got an expected today delivery notice 2 days ago and nothing was delivered and the Etsy site says the package has been sitting at the postal center for 2 days. When I inquired the online response said if I don't get it by the 16th to contact them. That process will all but ensure I will never get my delivery or my refund in time for Christmas. Anything sent through USPS is a problem because tracking with them is never accurate. I will never order through this site again because of all of the various problems with delivery and tracking/customer service. Now I have to replace the gift while my money is being held by a seller who has not delivered. Signed, Frustrated. Update: While writing this review the new estimated delivery date changed from the 16th to the 17th. The original 'by' date was the 13th. I just want to cry 😢

    I've been trying to sell on Etsy for over 5 years. Let me tell you the truth about these tyrants. #1 do not expect for seller treatment. Do not think they care about you at all. It is obvious from the lack of concern, lack of communication, lack of appreciation that they just do not care about their sellers. They tell you, you'll be able to defend yourself when it comes to customer complaints before taking action against your store. That's the biggest lie I've ever seen. You'll get 2 emails when they shut you down. 1- we are shutting you down, you'll get a chance to appeal. And 2- we've made our decision, your store will remain deactivated and we will provide no more communication about this. Those sound nice until you see they were sent seconds apart giving you absolutely zero chance to appeal anything.

    I am extremely disappointed with the service. I placed my order expecting it to arrive on time, but it was delayed without any explanation or communication. I had to contact customer service multiple times, and all I received were vague responses with no resolution. This delay completely ruined my plans, and I will think twice before ordering from here again. Terrible experience overall.

    This place is terrible. I tried to buy a mini house for my kid And it was 2$ so I was surprised it was cheap and then when I got the house it was a mini Polly pocket house. I do not recommend and don’t buy from here. It’s a ripoff.

    Esty serves your ads based on your star rating, if a customer request hand local delivery for an item, it is allowed for within the system. Then without warning they will ding your star rating for not providing tracking even though hand delivery is an option they give under tracking info... Terrible and not honest.

    I always used to consider ETSY an honest platform. I have a valid tax resale number as an antique dealer on another site. Two months ago I made a purchase from an Etsy seller and asked in advance to log my tax resale certificate. They responded that I would need to make the purchase and then submit by state tax exemption form. They subsequently refused to return my paid sales tax, and I filed a complaint with BBB. The Better Business Bureau subsequently advised me that ETSY was contacted twice and failed to respond. Etsy pocketing my paid sales tax is dishonest at best since they are not required to forward my paid tax to my state. The amount of money involved is somewhat minimal but just wanted to post a warning to other potential customers,.

    This is not the first thing Etsy has gotten wrong, but I’m tired of it. The robe I ordered has no resemblance to the robe I received. There is no return address or instructions on how to return and retrieve my $46. Etsy must be held accountable. They keep getting away with this kind of stuff. They’re making buckets of money and stealing from their customers.

    Etsy is horrible to work with. Hidden fees for marketing & shipping. I believe the Etsy shop owner should be able to choose if their listing appears on “google searches”. They take additional 15-20% for 3rd party advertising/marketing, but don’t show or prove this action. Be ready to lose money listing with them.

    I started selling on Etsy on 2009. First I loved it, It was all handmade in USA, but later I found out that some seller purchasing items from AliExpress based in China and other and selling them over price as handmade in USA. Then Etsy started accepting items from other country, it didn't matter if it was handmade or else. Now allowing other country sells inappropriate items. Etsy charging the seller for click on each items that we are not aware of. I selected shipping charge per state, but Etsy did not charge the buyer shipping and I had to pay for shipping that end up no profit I made.

    For instance, I sold an items for $12 and I had to pay $16 for shipping, end up not only I didn't make money, I had to pay Etsy for inserting items for sale, shipping, and clicks. Etsy reported that I made over $500 but the money went to my bank was less than $200. Now that I place flat shipping charge of $5, Etsy says I am overcharging the customer, but I mailed an item with USPS for $5.26 that Etsy did not charge the customer. No wonder now Etsy can advertise and sponsor on Wheel of Fortune Show. All they want money, no matter how and where it comes from.

    All in all, most of my experiences with Etsy are positive and I will continue to order from them, however, in the future, I will ask sellers questions about my purchase. It takes longer than 5=8 hours to respond. I will not buy from them. I’m tired of buying svgs and pages from foreign sellers and not getting a response. I’m still waiting for an answer from December 2 which I think is ridiculous. Even reached out to Etsy and still haven’t had it resolved. I'd much rather they state it’s a local seller to make my life easier. Not to mention when I do buy foreign I start getting messages that my computer has been accessed and to contact them immediately. Spam of course.

    I bought a lot of stuff on Etsy and spent a lot of money on there. I never said I was going to buy something and didn’t and still have money in my account and also I paid 400.00 for two supposedly authentic autographs that were fake but all the sudden I was going to buy something else and it popped up that I was suspended. I appealed it then I was permanently suspended and no money was refunded. I loved shopping on Etsy now I think they suck and it will be reported.

    I ordered a Santa hat and despite being told it was delivered, I never received it. After looking at other reviews I see there are MANY others who were ripped off too. Now why doesn't Etsy pull this seller off of their site?! I don't think too highly of Etsy or any sellers on their terrible site.

    My account was hacked yesterday. I found out about a transaction I did not authorize almost immediately. Saw an email from etsy that said an unusual ip address had recently logged in and if I did authorize it, I should change my password. After contacting the vendor, who refunded the order immediately, I changed my password. When trying to log back in, I was told I need an authenticator app. After 2 hours of trying to figure out how to get to customer service, which required I login, I found a link to a email customer support system. This took a full day to get resolved.

    After getting back in, I found I had a gift card balance for the refunded transaction I did not authorize. Continued help ticket response to get transaction, refunded to my card. Waiting for another day for a response. I was going to set up a business on Etsy, but after finding how utterly useless Etsy customer support is,

    I am going to use Ebay instead. I have been working with Ebay for almost 20 years and got prompt resolution for any problem that I experienced. Not that many out of 2500 plus transactions.

    Worst customer service I've ever seen in my life. My account was suspended without explanation, all I ever did was try to buy things. My credit card was flagged as fraud which I had to clear with my bank, their Chat support is USELESS all they do is send you to their email teams which are prescripted responses and they did this to me FOUR TIMES. The kicker? Rather than HELP ME and fix the issue, they permanently banned me, and LIED to me saying "we explained"... They never did. Over a span of 25 days and over 60 emails, I never ONCE got any explanation for ANYTHING.
