While you may have thought you’d seen the last of Toys R Us, it isn’t over for the popular toy retailer.
The company announced its new partnership with Duty Free Americas to land a store in Dallas Fort Worth International Airport – the second busiest airport in the world.
“We are excited that WHP Global [Toys R Us’ parent company] selected us to introduce a new retail concept to the travel industry,” said Jerome Falic, CEO of Duty Free Americas. “Toys R Us is a globally recognized brand beloved by millions of families, and we are confident that the store at DFW will become a must-visit destination for travelers.”
Holiday shopping at the airport
Currently, Toys R Us’ DFW airport location is under construction, and the plan is to have it open just in time for this holiday season. As the airport prepares for the busy holiday rush, travelers will be able to check everyone off their gift lists with a quick trip to the airport toy store – which will be located in Terminal A.
Airport-goers won’t miss that it’s Toys R Us – the early plans feature a life-sized 3D sculpture of the store’s mascot, Geoffrey the Giraffe.
Beyond that, the store will also serve as a way for families to kill time while traveling throughout the airport. In addition to displays of the latest toys, there will also be interactive stations set up to keep young travelers entertained before they hop on the plane.
The store may also be a good place to stop to pick up last-minute souvenirs or gifts for the kids in your life. Consumers traveling through DFW this holiday season should keep their eyes peeled for the newest Toys R Us location.
“We are thrilled to partner with Duty Free Americas to introduce the first ever Toys R Us airport store, an exciting new concept that we believe could roll out in airports around the world,” said Yehuda Shmidman, chairman and CEO of WHP Global.
