This is the latest Drive Up feature at the retailer

Regular Target shoppers have been taking advantage of the store’s Drive Up options. Whether you’re picking something up, or returning something, you can check an errand off your to-do list without having to get out of the car.

Now, consumers can add their Starbucks run to Target’s Drive Up features. The retailer is officially rolling out its latest option for shoppers: free car-side delivery of your Starbucks order from Target’s Drive Up parking spots.

“Our guests have long told us Drive Up is a game-changer, adding convenience to their daily life, especially when they’re short on time,” said Mark Schindele, chief stores officer at Target.

“We’ve continued listening to our guests, who’ve told us overwhelmingly that Drive Up with Starbucks would bring even more ease and joy to every Target run. This one-of-a-kind service – available only at Target – is the latest example of how we’re innovating every day to meet the needs of our guests.”

Getting coffee delivered to your car

Utilizing the Starbucks Drive Up feature is as easy as placing any other Drive Up order at Target. As it works right now, the feature will only be available for shoppers who are already picking up a Drive Up order – not for those looking just for a coffee.

After placing a Drive Up order, consumers will get a notification that their order is ready for pickup, and at this point, will be prompted to place a Starbucks order. The full Starbucks menu is available for Drive Up, including food, and once shoppers create their order, they tap on the “Add for Drive Up” icon.

Target’s Starbucks employees won’t start making the order until the shopper indicates that they’re on their way to pick up their order in the Target app. Then, when the shopper arrives at Target, they pull into the regular Drive Up parking spots, click on the “I’m Here” button in the Target app, and both the Starbucks order and the Target order will be delivered to the car.
