Overall, moving really sucks, but AmeriSafe made it a little easier. With their help, it was not as stressful as if I was going to drive myself. I've moved forever in my life, but I have two kids now, so I didn't want to do it all by myself. It was like keeping my things in the car for a couple of hours and thankfully, it really wasn't that far of a drive.

I was especially impressed with their communication, attention to detail, and the respect they showed for my house and personal possessions. There were no unexpected surprises. If you’re looking for a dependable company for a long-distance move or even a local move, I would highly recommend AmeriSafe Van lines. I would absolutely trust them again for any future move. I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience with AmeriSafe Van Lines was frustrating enough that I feel it is important to share. I booked an interstate move from California to Colorado through AmeriSafe and was quoted approximately $2,600. During the sales process, I was specifically told there was a truck leaving California for the Denver area within the next few days. This was an important factor in my decision to book with them. AmeriSafe then assigned my move to First Class Movers. When they arrived for pickup on September 1, the price increased significantly. I ultimately paid more than $3,700—over $1,100 above my original quote. With the movers already at my home and my interstate relocation underway, I felt I had little practical choice but to accept.

For the following weeks, I repeatedly contacted AmeriSafe and First Class Movers trying to find out where my belongings were and when they would arrive. I received inconsistent information depending on who I spoke with, and several interactions were extremely rude and unhelpful.

I could not get a reliable delivery date and was eventually told delivery could take up to a month, which was very different from the expectations established when I booked. My belongings were finally delivered on September 23—22 days after pickup. During that time, I slept on a blow-up mattress and had to purchase furniture, kitchen items, household necessities, and jackets because my winter clothes and belongings were in the shipment. When everything finally arrived, multiple items were damaged or incomplete, including broken kitchenware, shelving missing parts, a damaged desk/table, a broken coat rack, and canvases that did not arrive with the initial delivery.

I paid $3,700+ for a move originally quoted around $2,600, waited 22 days for my belongings, incurred significant additional expenses, and received damaged/incomplete property. Had I known this would be my experience, I would never have booked the move through AmeriSafe. Based on my experience, I would not use this company again.

My refund request was handled by “Todd **” no doubt a pseudonym, with strong language, told me that they would keep the entire deposit of $6208 because I was outside the 72 hours of signing. Signing what? Nothing was scheduled? There was no exchange of services. I signed and paid to secure senior and veteran discounts. The house is a cash purchase. I have no documentation to prove I am not buying the property, as no consideration, such as cash was exchanged. Only a inspection report with highly critical, expensive looming repairs. Besides, what business is it of theirs? I don't want the service. I don't care what air-tight agreement you coerced me into. I might be old, but I'm not stupid. Todd was extremely rude and apparently an attorney. He said, "You can try court. You'll get nothing." Wow.

I can’t prove the verbal deceptive sales tactics. In fact, I can’t even reach AmeriSafe for a discussion; the lopsided refund policy for services not rendered is all you need to know. Good faith is important in establishing a track record of success and opportunity. These "brokers will be out of business." Even the salesmen are bot like. No knowledge of their business.

I asked, "How many trucks do you have? Is it your own people that will load my furniture?" He lied about everything. They make their money out of what they can squeeze, holding hostage your belongings. Read past the recent bot-generated reviews, all dated within a week. Right. People are so compelled in the middle of a hectic move that they have time to immediately write glowing reviews. Scroll down a couple pages, and things suddenly shift to the actual business models. They use the most hectic and busy time of your life to prey on you.

God bless Discover. When I told them what had transpired, they had several issues with AmeriSafe. Discover immediately placed a temporary credit to my account for the deposit. Discover is going to bat for me, and I know they will get my money back. Thank you, Discover Card, and God bless your staff for calming my fears.

If I could give a negative star review I would! Do NOT use this company. Original quote for our move was $4,200 and the sales rep said “not a penny more”. Two days before move we were able to give a better description of items (yes - we had more than anticipated) but new quote was $11,900 “maximum”. “No more than that”. When they arrived the final total was $14,440. Non refundable deposits.

We agreed to the new quote, feeling not so sure of our selection to go with AmeriSafe. When the movers showed up, they inventoried our items, and they quoted us double the $ amount Thomas quoted us. We became very frustrated and not very trusting of AmeriSafe at that time. When speaking to the manager, he stated we had 3 options. (1.) Cancel and not get our deposit back (which was significant), (2.) Load only the furniture and no boxes, or (3.) Load everything and pay a higher price. We went with option #2 at that point. I highly not recommend Amerisafe to anyone. One of the things I would do differently, is have them actually come to the house and provide a quote by review of the moving inventory. Most of the moving companies we reached out to for a quote provided it over the phone.

I was confronted on moving day with a different contract, different terms, and a dramatically higher price. After the move did not proceed under these new terms, I dealt with Aldon ** regarding my refund. I was told I would receive a refund, but I haven’t even received an email confirming the refund. I am still waiting for my money to be returned. I am requesting the immediate return of my refund otherwise I will be filing reports with every single agency.

•Final quote was more than DOUBLE my initial estimate. I was given a quote based on the inventory I had at the time and estimated box count. I was given an updated quote just 2 days before my scheduled pickup date that was 71% higher than the initial estimate. My inventory changed somewhat, but I actually had fewer furniture items than originally quoted. I had less large furniture, less XL and L boxes, and more S and M boxes. I wouldn't have been surprised if my quote changed slightly but a 71% increase seemed outrageous since there was no way I was taking up 71% more space on the truck.

I was then manipulated into agreeing to move forward by being told I would only end up paying for the space on the truck I actually use, and I was being given the "absolute worst case scenario" cost-wise, and it would more than likely end up being much less. On moving day when the actual movers showed up, the price increased AGAIN and the final quote was more than double my initial quote.

•Hidden fees- on pickup day the mover started listing out additional fees I was going to pay that were NEVER discussed prior to this day.

•Different carrier than promised. I was told in writing that Amerisafe would be the carrier for my move and that it would not be contracted out. I have it in writing from my rep that it would not be contracted out- he LIED. The day before pickup, I was told a completely different moving company would actually be handling it. On my moving day 3 guys in a U-Haul showed up. Such a red flag.

•Credit card payment suddenly wasn’t accepted. I confirmed twice in writing that I could pay by credit card at pickup. When the movers arrived, they told me they only accepted cash, Venmo, or money order and expected me to come up with $2,000+ on the spot. I called customer service and was told to simply go to Walmart and get a money order. The movers that were there were insisting I pay with venmo- which was very sketchy to me.

•No delivery date. On pickup day, I still had no estimated delivery date. I was told my belongings would go to a warehouse until there was space on a truck headed the direction I was moving in. I booked the movers over 30 days in advance and they still could give me an estimated arrival date for all of my earthly possessions.

•When all of these issues were happening I tried calling my main point of contacts at the company. I had been working with these two men the whole time leading up to my move. I called dozens of times and left several voicemails and they both ignored me and never called, texted, or emailed back. Both were very fast at responding to me leading up to the move. But on pickup day absolute radio silence.

At that point, there were simply too many inconsistencies, unexpected changes, and straight up lies for me to feel comfortable proceeding. I ended up having to fire them on the day and had to scramble to get a U-Haul truck and did the cross- country move myself. So this can be a fair review, I will say that the company ultimately gave me a full refund, which I genuinely appreciate. I think they knew they messed with the wrong person- don't let this company scam you and take advantage of you!! However, based on my experience, I would not recommend this company. Save yourself all the stress and avoid them from the start.

The customer service was rude, unhelpful, and completely unacceptable. If you’re dealing with Shannon or Kimberly, I strongly recommend doing your research before committing or handing over any money. Don’t let a low quote convince you that you’re getting a good deal. A cheap quote means nothing if the company stops communicating after they get paid. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere. I would not recommend AmeriSafe to anyone. One star is generous.

The biggest problem was the disconnect between the broker and the actual movers. When the movers arrived at my home, they essentially told me: > “We don't know what you were quoted. The broker gives a lower quote to get the business, but that price isn't realistic for us.” The actual movers then tried to increase the price based on cubic footage and other charges. Even though I had provided a detailed list of my belongings during the initial quote, I was told that my items exceeded the estimated cubic footage and that I needed to pay additional money. It also felt like the actual movers were trying to recover the commission that had been paid to the broker. Once the deposit is paid, you have very little leverage because you are already committed to the move.

**The delivery experience was even worse.** At pickup, the movers arrived with a normal-sized truck. However, for delivery, they arrived with a much larger **50-foot truck** and demanded an additional **$1 per cubic foot** delivery charge. I was put in an extremely difficult situation and ultimately told them that they could leave my belongings on the side of the road because I would arrange a U-Haul myself to move them.

This entire experience was stressful, frustrating, and much more expensive than I expected. **My advice:** If you are planning a move, I would strongly recommend either using a service such as **U-Box** with helping hands or hiring an actual moving company that will physically visit your home, inspect your belongings, and provide a realistic estimate **before you pay a deposit**. I would avoid using a third-party moving broker unless you fully understand how the pricing and additional charges work. In my experience, once the broker collected its commission and deposit, the responsibility and pricing issues were pushed onto the actual moving company. I was trapped due to fake Google reviews and no experience on this. **Learn from my experience: get an in-person estimate from the actual movers before signing or paying a deposit.**

The problems started after I paid the deposit. When the pickup date was getting closer, their moving manager called me and started saying that I needed more space and that I would have to pay more money. He told me that they had been in the moving business for 10 years and that they knew exactly how much space a move like mine would need. That really confused me.

If you have been doing this for 10 years and know how much space is needed, then why wasn't that included in the original estimate? Why wait until after the customer pays the deposit to ask for more money? I had already given them my complete inventory when I got the original quote. This made me feel like the lower estimate was given just to get my business and collect the deposit, and then the price started going up afterward.

The situation with the actual movers was also very frustrating. They basically told me that they didn't know what the broker had quoted me and that the price they were given was different. As the customer, I was stuck in the middle between the broker and the actual moving company. One thing that really bothers me now is that I had actually seen some negative Google reviews before choosing the company. When I asked about those reviews, I was told that competitors had posted them and that they weren't genuine. At the time, I believed them.

After experiencing everything myself, I honestly wish I had paid more attention to those reviews. Based on my experience, I now feel that many of those negative reviews were from real customers sharing real experiences. I'm not writing this review to argue with anyone. I'm simply sharing what happened to me so that someone else doesn't make the same mistake.

Please do your research before choosing this company. Don't choose a moving broker just because the initial quote is cheaper. If you are moving, I strongly recommend getting an in-person estimate from the actual movers and making sure you understand the total cost and possible additional charges before paying any deposit. For me, this experience was stressful, frustrating, and much more expensive than I expected. I would give 0 stars if allowed it. Unfortunately, there is no 0-star option. Please learn from my experience and think twice before choosing this moving broker.

Original Review: They came eight hours late kept complaining, moaning, saying things weren’t on list, said I had to give them more money cash right away, told me to call my bank, give them money and didn’t want to put anything on the truck until I paid them More money. I asked them To leave. They were scary and frightening. My sister was there. I went downstairs to call police. She called police as well so they left when police were about to Levine we had asked them politely to leave so now I’m flying my new home without anything done. I had to pay 1265 deposit and Kim told me this morning you’ll never see it. I want my deposit back. I want this company's license reviewed. May this never happen to another customer. It was horrendous.

I was moving from Massachusetts to New York. When I contacted AmeriSafe, I specifically requested a morning move. Despite repeatedly trying to determine when the movers would arrive, I was never given a meaningful ETA. The drivers ultimately did not arrive until around midday. More importantly, I was never clearly told during the booking process that my belongings might not be delivered the same day—or that delivery could potentially take several days. Had that been clearly explained to me, it absolutely would have affected my decision to book with this company.

Because my belongings did not arrive that evening, I ended up sleeping in my car with my cats because I had no access to my household items. I received everything the following morning only because the actual moving company AmeriSafe contracted with went out of its way to accommodate me and rearranged/cancelled other work so that they could deliver my belongings sooner. I genuinely appreciate the carrier for making that effort. My complaint is primarily with the expectations and information provided by AmeriSafe during the booking process.

Then there is the pricing. My original estimate was approximately $3,000. I provided AmeriSafe with a substantial inventory of what I was moving from the beginning. Was my inventory absolutely perfect down to every single item? No. But it was detailed enough that I cannot understand how a move initially estimated around $3,000 ultimately became more than $7,000. That is not a minor adjustment. That is more than double the amount I was initially led to expect. After my experience, I looked into other customer complaints and realized that I am far from the only person describing issues involving significantly increased pricing, confusion regarding AmeriSafe’s role as a broker, third-party carriers, and delivery expectations.

I understand that I signed a contract, and I take responsibility for that. But consumers should not have to discover the most consequential parts of a moving transaction by carefully interpreting contract language after they have already been sold on the service. Important information—especially who is actually moving your belongings, how pricing can realistically change, when the carrier will arrive, and whether your belongings will arrive the same day—should be explained clearly before a customer commits thousands of dollars. The actual movers did their best to help me. AmeriSafe’s sales and communication process is what I would caution people about. If you are considering using AmeriSafe, I strongly recommend asking IN WRITING before paying anything:
