Prior to using GoodHire, we had a different background check company. Their turnaround time was almost always one day, and while GoodHire is better accuracy-wise, their background checking turnaround time varies significantly. It could take three to four days. Our rep has been great though, and she's always on top of everything. Her name is Tracy and she was able to help us if there were any issues or when we were wondering what was holding something up.

I found GoodHire online and after talking to them and figuring it out, I liked their price structure, background checks and drug tests. My company is offering an employment platform and we plan to use GoodHire to clear the people who want to participate. Overall, I liked what they had to offer and I will definitely recommend them.

We asked different companies who they used for background checks and GoodHire came up. We haven't done many background checks through GoodHire so the experience is still pretty new but it was fairly reasonable and easy. Also, everything was fine in dealing with their reps.

GoodHire's service is good and it works for the necessity. It's easy to use, too. The turnaround time is usually two days but they could improve it to be faster. I was using my local insurance company prior to using GoodHire, and GoodHire's a little more thorough.

GoodHire's customer service team has been pleasant. Running background checks with them takes two to five days and for the most part, it has been good. However, I had one that I had an issue with where somehow a school got put in instead of a candidate’s name, and they ran a whole check on a school and told me it was good. I had to question the validity of it after I was told that the school had a good valid driver’s license and social security number and it wasn’t on the warrant list or domestic terror list. But, they corrected it.

Before using GoodHire, I have used a couple of different background check company. I just bounced around from one to another, but I like GoodHire. I can get a deeper background from them more than just a local company. Also, their process is easy and I get a quick response. They also send a notice to the applicants so they know, which is good. I would definitely use them again.

My experience with GoodHire has been good so far. We had a different service provider before and customer service is a lot better through GoodHire. When we first started with GoodHire, we were double billed and they addressed it immediately and credited us. I spoke to one person and they were able to assist me. GoodHire was easy to get ahold of. Also, I love that an employee can put their own information in and I don’t have to sit then and input it myself. Sometimes the background check comes back right away, which is great, and then other times, it takes so long to come back. But for the most part, it has been good. I would recommend GoodHire to others.

I started using the applicant tracking system, Lever, and it has a built-in integration with GoodHire. At the time, I wasn’t happy with my background check vendor so I decided to try out GoodHire. Their interface was really nice. Also, their representatives that our new hires and our employees have interacted with have been really nice too. But my biggest complaint was about the employment verification process. This process is really important, but I understand that it’s coming from a third party. They’ve had inconsistencies with the vendors that have been doing the employment verifications for them that have been really slow and sometimes weren’t able to verify at all. If GoodHire can figure out their employment verification vendor issues, they would be in a really great place. Other than that, their customer service has been really good.

We did a Google search on various companies online that were FCRA regulated or approved and GoodHire was one of the companies which had a better rate. It was our first experience hiring a company to do a background check as we have just begun a new business adventure. We like the ease of doing background checks and using them is very efficient. We log in to our account and put in the name and email address of the person we want to do the background check on. We don’t have to call them or send anything. We're able to just put the information online and then go back and check online. Plus, we are notified when the background check is complete, which is really great. It’s self-sufficient.
Their customer service is a nice thing. However, they don't have customer service in the evening and weekends. With my working hours, sometimes I don’t get to the computer to do things until the evening and have to put off contacting somebody until the next day. During business hours though, they are right on there. When I do the chat or call in, it’s immediate. They always answer every question I have and if they don’t have an answer, they find the answer and get back to me as quickly as possible. They’re really great people.

Reading online from a couple of different reviews, GoodHire seemed like a good way for small to medium size businesses to be able to do background checks fairly effectively and efficiently. GoodHire is the first background check provider that uses the automated approach to handle multiple facets like multiple background check types and do drug testing as well. We're a newer business and they were helpful when I first onboarded with them. And overall, it's been pretty nice using their web browser interface to be able to have background checks run on new employees.
Their reps were pretty professional. They followed up with me if I had any questions after the start and they were able to answer. My phone interactions with them were fairly positive as well. However, there's so much information as far as background check types, especially for small businesses. So continuing to provide good resources and information as to why we should use certain ones and what the need is for them, would be great. But GoodHire did everything that I needed and it was a pretty smooth process with them. It's a good and efficient way for someone who doesn't have a large HR department to be able to do what they need. My experience with GoodHire has been pretty good and if my friends had a small to medium size business, I would recommend using them.

We used another background service provider before and now we are using GoodHire's system which is great because it links up with BambooHR, the ATS that we're using. The process is very simplified from the application, to the interview, to the offer, and to initiating the background check because of the integration with BambooHR. The only concern I have is that when there were issues with the integration, it took more than one phone call to try to figure out if the problem was on GoodHire's or Bamboo's end. Also, we didn’t get notified when there was an issue and we only found out about this when we were waiting for the initiation of the background check to commence and we didn't know what was going on. It was always trial-and-error when there was a problem, but that happened very rarely. On the whole, everything has been working great with GoodHire.

I run a tech start-up and GoodHire seemed a little bit more modern than the other big competitor. But one thing that I struggle with as a new business owner is where I should draw the line from a background check perspective. A lot of people have something in their background that they don’t want other people to know about and I don’t know how to go about thinking on who I should reject. I would be more satisfied if there was some guidance from GoodHire. They don't do it for liability reasons but that would be helpful. It doesn’t even have to be a recommendation to a client. It could be just examples of what generic companies have done like, “We’re a toy manufacturer and we don’t want these types of people.” GoodHire's sales manager was fantastic though. He was very responsive anytime I had a question. I've also done some testing and I've been very happy with GoodHire so far.

I liked GoodHire's prices, and I also like their website because they have everything and it's a user-friendly webpage. We’re doing well with them and we get the results on time. I contacted their CS at the beginning, trying to understand the types of reports and I wasn’t sure about the difference on how to handle or place the order. I received good feedback and they told me, "You have to choose this and this," and everything went through. However, we did one report for somebody and it came back completely negative. We use the service for drivers and we called that driver. Everything was resolved and he was not guilty, but it was not showing up on the report that I had. That was a little bit of a concern because if there was really something, it wasn't showing on my report.

The range of services and the kinds of checks that GoodHire has piqued my interest. It seemed like the most comprehensive service that I was able to find. I was working with one person and I had several series of questions that I asked over time. Each time I reached out to her, she was very responsive and explained things clearly. She took the time to understand what I was trying to accomplish with my website. She was just all-around a lovely person to interact with on a professional level.

I've used GoodHire once a couple of months ago and the experience was very nice. It was a very fairly easy process. I went on there and filled out everything, then within the day I got the result back. My clients were satisfied with what I sent to them, so I was grateful. They were very customer service-friendly as well. A million people called me and they constantly wanted to make sure that I was enjoying the service, which I appreciate. And whoever I spoke to was polite.
The only thing is, which is a general consensus for background checks, it’s expensive, and thinking from a business perspective, they’d make a lot more money if they lower their prices. But, their pricing was a little bit less compared to the two companies I looked at initially. GoodHire is a good company. They do thorough checks and I’m satisfied with them.

We're a new company and we're using GoodHire. I used the service a few times but their follow-up might have been lacking. They are supposed to get a response from the people that are being checked. If those folks wouldn’t respond, then GoodHire didn’t follow through. They couldn’t finish and they didn’t call me to say they didn’t get a response. I use GoodHire a lot. We’ve used them since about four years ago and generally, the turnaround time is excellent. When it hasn’t been, about a year ago, they assigned us an account manager, Bre, and she has been wonderful. If I have trouble, I can contact her directly usually by email or sometimes phone and I get an email back within a short amount of time saying, “We’re looking into this situation.” Then Bre will follow up saying, “Let me check with that county.” Sometimes counties will be slow in returning information. I’ve been very pleased with Bre. She is very prompt and she spoils us. GoodHire is doing a great job. I was approached by another background check company and I was not interested. We were using Verified First as our background check company before. Then we went with GoodHire and the communication has been a lot faster and there has been much quicker turnaround, so that was a plus. It has been a lot easier to get a hold of somebody over the phone. Also, I usually follow up with an email and I get a response back quickly. But GoodHire has been taking much longer for us to get the results of background checks back and sometimes it took a couple of days or a couple of weeks. With the other company, it was instantaneous, and we got the results two seconds after we submitted our request.
In addition, the learning curve has been a little bit bigger than I was expecting. When I select the products that I want to order, we might run a driver’s license, depending on the company and the location of the hotel. When I choose the background check option, the next screen gives me a whole bunch of other options to add. That was very confusing for the team members as they didn’t know if they were supposed to select any of the other options or to continue with the background check. We did a conference call to show them how to do it and that was helpful. Overall, though, GoodHire has been pretty good. We run the driver's license and the records of our team members and we use the drug testing aspect as well. The criminal background check goes back seven years and there’s also the county check. We utilize all these services.

I receive the names and emails of our employees who work with minors and we process them through GoodHire. GoodHire then sends them an email requesting for additional information. They are asked a series of questions that are a little bit more personal and that can be anywhere between 24 and 72 hours, depending on the amount of information and the places the people subjected to the check lives. Then, the actual report takes between one to three days, which is appropriate and timely. However, the system is sensitive to various things, such as email addresses, and it doesn’t help us with our international staff or students since it doesn’t allow for international screening. We’ve had a couple of issues with some background checks that take too long and they’ve been really good about giving us information about the background that we can’t see. Background checks take about three business days but right now we’re still waiting on one that has been going on for a month. Delays are usually caused by double-checking with the different counties that the person may have lived in. But overall we’ve had really a good experience with GoodHire.

GoodHire is a good company and their rates are reasonable. Their customer service representative made everything understandable and got me a plan together and submitted it to me. And I liked it, so I accepted it. Using GoodHire to run background checks is a matter of logging on to my account, putting all the added information in that I need to put in there, and then waiting for the result. And if an employee is clear, it takes 5 to 15 minutes. The delay comes into play if they find something wrong with the employee I’ve added. It takes them longer to look and get the result and everything. As far as getting the results back, GoodHire has a faster turnaround than the company I was using before. The system works great.

I’ve been at my current company for six months but I have had previous experience with other companies about background check service. This company wasn't really using any system and so, I put in GoodHire when I started working here and started using it mid-December. I especially like GoodHire's identity verification because it's one app on several of our other providers and they don’t all offer that. Everything seems to run smoothly and no issues except the slowness of the backgrounds in coming back. I’m on the sixth day waiting for a couple of it right now.
I have a coworker who also uses the system with me, and we both noticed that things get hung up in it. One day, I called GoodHire because it was taking so long for a background to get back and I was told that they’re reviewed before they’re posted. That review process sometimes takes a little bit longer and that’s where it’s getting hung up. I’m getting a lot of complaints from my hiring managers too about the time that it’s taking so it’s a big concern for us. It happened twice, but they're very responsive whenever I call and email them. I'm fairly pleased with them.

There have been a few times when I entered in the wrong email address and I simply used the chat button and their team got it fixed very quickly. It was very convenient. Overall, GoodHire has worked really well and met our expectation so far. We’re happy with them. They are definitely worth listening to and their service is definitely superior to others I have used.

I was researching background check companies and checking into them when I talked to one of GoodHire's salespeople. I liked what I heard and their pricing was good. In the beginning, I talked to Chad, the sales guy. He was very fluid and took care of everything. We set it up in the beginning because we needed to do all the employees and get ourselves caught up to pace. I put together a spreadsheet and sent it to him. We put it under one company that I ran three companies off. He loaded it in. Thereafter, I just put a code next to each one so I knew which center was in the background, so I could charge the center the correct amount of money.
Since then, using their service has been easy. I just plug in the numbers and go from there. Once I’ve set up the link, then it’s relatively easy to put in. I’m familiar with how these things work so I'm comfortable with it. While billing has been relatively simple, the problem that we have from the point of view of franchise operations is that I can’t negotiate for all of the franchisees in the area as bulk-billing because of the way the consumer background is set up. It’s gonna be with the individual business. That’s a bit of an impediment because normally when I do something like this, I would do it for the whole area. I also talked to the franchise about whether or not we should do it for the country. Nevertheless, I’ve told each of the other franchisees that GoodHire is a good company and that they should talk to Chad.

I was trying to find a company that was more economical in doing background checks because we have a high turnover rate and I've just set up an account with GoodHire. So far, our interactions with the customer service reps at GoodHire have been pretty good. But I'm still confused and unsure about the national background database. If I'm going to accounting, that's where the cost is mainly poor and it varies, depending on where I go. But when it comes to a national database search, every place is a lot cheaper, so it might not be that accurate. The background check is complicated and I'd like to know how accurate GoodHire's system is, what it services, and how it compares or differs with something that always has options to choose from, like adding different points of search such as a Social Security trace.

We were trying to find a background check service company and GoodHire came up in several Google recommendations. Our dealings with them have all been online and I haven't had to call anybody there. I submitted everything online, then we got the answers back. The process of utilizing GoodHire to run a background check was super easy. The only thing was that we had to send out an email to the applicants and they had to verify if the report was okay before it would be issued. Sometimes, if they didn't check their email or it went to their spam folder, we didn't get a quick enough response.
But that should have been something that we were taking care of before we initiated a contact appointment with them. When they applied for a job with us, they allowed us to gather information on them as long as it was upfront with them. We could possibly have run a background check to get to a point and there shouldn't have been second and third consent forms waiting.

The technology component and user-friendly interface are what drove me to the company. GoodHire consists of me ordering my normal package. They have a package set up for me and I just go in, select that I want to run another background check, enter the person's information such as name and email address, and then that person is able to enter their own information. It's a time-saver that way. Once the check is complete, I receive an email and then log in to see the results.
We have had some issues with Social Security numbers not matching the exact name on file. Our users may not have been aware that they needed to check their Social Security card to make sure they enter their name exactly as it appears on their card, as most of our employees are from other countries. I think GoodHire take for granted that most Americans know what their name is on their card, but if you're an immigrant, you might have three last names and maybe only one of them's on the card. That was the only reason I've had to contact customer service. They could use a little bit more on-boarding training for the people who will be utilizing the service. Overall GoodHire is a decent service. But the thing that frustrates me most about it is that I don’t have a lot of control over being able to resend something. For example, if a candidate says, “Hey, I never received that email from GoodHire.” I have to physically call. I can’t just log into the account and make sure that it was sent to the right email. It won’t even show me what email it was sent to. So I have to call a customer service representative anytime. I have to do almost anything once they’ve submitted the request for a background check.
Also you can’t get the result like if my HR assistant is the one that actually requests it, it sends her the email that says, “It’s finished.” So I don’t get a notification when it’s finished even though I’m the one who needs to know. I’m the recruiter so I'm the one who keeps track of it but you can’t have it sent to multiple emails. We called and asked and they said, “No, sorry.” There’s lots of different background companies you can go with and we don’t have a reason to leave GoodHire. And then we get email notifications when they are working on it. They email us when they're still trying to get a few things from the candidate, so they're always keeping us updated. And then they let us know when the report's ready to view.
To complete the processes, it is pretty immediate, within 24 hours, unless there's an issue with the candidate getting them the information. The candidate has to be responsive to them as well. When I first started, I would reach out to them for questions and they were very prompt to get back to me. This is my second time using GoodHire. On my last company, I was challenged with the background check system then I demoed about three systems and I preferred GoodHire to both, so I chose it. My experience was much better with them than any other system I had worked for and we never changed, but they were all pretty solvable. When I came to my last company, they weren’t using a system, so I took on that project again and had such a good experience with them the last time that I demoed two systems so that my co-worker could have a comparison and we went with GoodHire again.
I look for the user interface, ease of use, ease of viewing the results, and ease of understanding when something gets flagged. I also look for how proactive GoodHire is in solving up discrepancies or if there is something missing with an employee. I’ve used this one in the past where say a different type of signature was needed by the employee. They wouldn’t reach out proactively and wouldn’t reach out to the employee or myself. I would just see that the background check wasn’t done. I’d go in to figure out why. I see that this is required. They would send me a very complicated form that I had to then explain to the employee and the whole thing was very delayed and very counter-intuitive and required a lot of proactive monitoring on my part and that is not the case with GoodHire.
The only two issues we’ve had so far were when the prices were very different from what we saw than what they were once they started to come in. So I followed up with their account manager and she explained that recently a lot of universities have taken on additional background check fees that were enormous estimates, which was fine. There was another time where we didn’t get a notification of why there was a delay from the company and she followed up. Anytime I have had a question, my account rep was always very responsive. I did a Google search for a background check and GoodHire came up. I looked at some of the things they offered and I picked them. They can run a background check and I could either pay for it or the employee pays for it, and they can send the result to me. I like that I have access to it because I was paying for background checks at one point. But the payment is according to what the person does, how much their paycheck is. If they don’t do anything, then I don’t pay for background checks. So, I let the employees pay for their own and that works for me. Overall, GoodHire is a good company. I like the ease of calling them and getting to talk to a live person.

We were looking for a company to do background checks, so I looked into GoodHire. However, we ended up going with ARS just because they’re the vendors we’re dealing with and so we also got really good pricing with them. GoodHire's customer service is really good though. They helped me a lot with getting started and were able to follow up. They’ve asked me through e-mail if I needed any assistance running a particular background check and that time I didn’t have any new employees to run background checks for, but at least that level of service was there.

We’re a small startup company and I heard about GoodHire from an HR consultant we’re using. The website works and it's self-explanatory. The experience is straightforward too. I go to the website as the administrator and I choose what test I want to purchase. I have to pay for it first and I can add things using the menu, but I don’t usually do that. Then it brings me to a screen where I pick whether the candidate is going to fill out the information themselves or someone else is. I pick the candidate all the time then I put the candidate’s full name and then their email address, and hit “Go.”
I get updates on my email like how you track packages with UPS, letting me know what stage in the process the background check is in. It also lets me know when it’s done and when the applicant has filled out their part. It works seamlessly. The only bug that happens is that the initial email goes to spam filters 75 percent of the time so I always have to tell the applicant to look in their spam filter.
Also, the company ran a background check on me and I had to administrate that. There was a little bit of awareness when I came to the website. I had to figure out whether I log in as a corporate administrator or as myself. If I had logged as myself then I would go see my own background check. There are separate logins and permissions but you can get confused before you realize that you don’t know which one you’re in. But it’s only because I’m the administrator and an employee, and that’s a rare use case. The signage could be improved, either by changing the colors or doing something that it makes it different a little bit. Otherwise, I think the website works pretty well, or actually better than that.

I called different background check companies to get quotes and the main thing was I wanted to get a faster turn-around time. Other service providers take too long and when I called GoodHire, they told me it would take an average of about one to two days. The system is easy to use and we got results back within the day the first time we used it. But the most recent ones are taking a little longer. The last two I've done took over a week. I sent an email to their customer service rep asking if she could help me to try to get it sooner. Timing is very important to us. When we get an order, we have to fill it as soon as possible and if we can’t respond, the client is going to have another agency that’s going to be able to do it and we lose them. But otherwise, I’m satisfied with the system.

My partner, Don, did some internet research and he found GoodHire. We tried a different background check provider and then they told us that it takes three to four days for results to come back and we didn't have that kind of time. And then we talked to Michael and he said GoodHire can get it done a lot quicker, and he did. We processed one person, and everything's been great. Running a background check with GoodHire was super easy. And the best part of the whole thing was, I could call Michael and it wasn’t a prompt that said, “Try this number." He picked up the phone immediately, and he was very cool. The beauty of having a one-on-one with the person who sold your account contact is when the electricity, cable, or your cell phone goes out, you can call one person who can handle everything for you. GoodHire met and exceeded the expectations of our company. I recommend them.

As a new hire in MG2, I've learned about GoodHire as they use it as their background vendor. We set up my profile and there was one little step missing. I was able to call customer service and she assisted me wonderfully. She did a couple of clicks and got me set so that I could start launching the background checks. She was very thorough and she was very friendly.
I’ve used other vendors before with complicated processes but GoodHire was very easy to use. I used Accurate Background with my previous employer and we were required to have a lot more information from the candidate prior to launching the background check. Also, we wouldn’t receive notifications that there were delays in processing. We would have to log in each day to see if there was a delay. Whereas with GoodHire, we could enter the first name, last name, and email address, and then the rest of the information would be provided by the candidate. And then, we would receive an email to say there’s a hang-up in the process. So, it makes it nice on our end. I like GoodHire a lot and would recommend it. In fact, I’ve spread the word to my previous employer and told her that we use GoodHire at MG2 and would make the job a bit easier with not having to go in and check the system on a daily basis because GoodHire sends notifications.

Carissa is our representative from Goodhire and she's super helpful. She was the one who conducted me. She replied and sent me the quote right away. So everything was great until the moment that we needed the report. We decided to try one person and it didn’t go that well because the background check found only two items out of many. I submitted account to check and I still didn’t receive it, so it doesn’t work.
I was supposed to receive background check even with estimated delivery which was three days, which is really strange that it takes so long, but we're already three days behind. That’s only one potential employee, and I have nine more on the hold right now, but I cannot submit them if it's going to be like that. But they were helpful on the phone. When I called them because I needed to find out about this employee who we were checking, they explained to me that it’s going to take a few days. We were searching for companies that did background checks and we didn’t like what we saw, so we opted to go with GoodHire because of the combination of the price, what was offered, and the quickness of their response. They were very straightforward and easy to figure out for somebody that had not been in there prior, and the information that was required was relatively minimal. We just had to provide an email address and a name, and everything else was handled after we paid. They were the ones that reached out to the potential employee and asked for some more non-public information.
Once that was provided, they proceeded with the background check and all was smooth from there. GoodHire has a reasonable cost, I don’t have to gather any non-public information from our potential hires, the response is detailed and everything is available online. From there, going through the MSA agreement and getting all the contract signed was a really easy experience. Their employers and customer support rep were also very responsive. Compared to our old provider, GoodHire is a lot more automated and have a lot more features. So far, we're still in development and setting up the integration, but they stepped us through a demo and it was great. We're based out in Louisiana so they demoed via video conference. Everything that we needed them to do, they did extremely quickly. They're constantly checking in with me to see how the progress is going with our engineers and with the Breezy integration. We're also building an LMS system and, although we preferred to do it ourselves, they were willing to write up training guides for our team that are specific to our account, not just general GoodHire training, which was generous. Out here in the Montana area, which is one of the counties, they charge $25 but GoodHire only charges $15 or $20 so technically, I'm not getting a full service when one of the counties has to be paid for.
That was a disappointment. I wanted somebody to contact me about it but I've still not heard anything back on it.
