    I own a security company, and one of the requirements that I needed was a background check agency. I got GoodHire and I haven't had any problems with them. I had an individual’s social security number in incorrectly, but the name was correct. So, I had to talk to customer service to get that resolved. But everything was fine.     My office manager told me about GoodHire. It seems really easy to navigate so I haven’t had the need to make a phone call to their customer service.     GoodHire was recommended to us through a business affiliate and we secured a good opinion about them through their website and their online information about their own services. We were happy with what we heard and went forward. We decided to work with them knowing that they have coverage for all of the types of background check we were looking to run. Also, the process seemed easy to work with. GoodHire's online interface is easy and it allows us to let the candidate be sent a link that they are in charge of responding to and they're the ones who are online and providing their information. So we don't really have to have a whole lot of their information in front of me or anybody in our HR group. That means a level of privacy for the user. So far, we're happy with the services we've received.

    We’re a small company, and we wanted something easy and they could do both background checks and drug testing. I found some article that was showing the different services and compared GoodHire to others. It showed that GoodHire was really a good one. I called their helpdesk, and the gentleman that helped me with the product was really easy-going. They had good customer service. I liked everything about them compared to others that I found. Our senior vice president and I tested it out, and liked it. It was very easy. We also liked that our employees actually get the notice, and they get to see how they did because a lot of times in the past our HR did it, and we didn’t know anything about the results when we got hired. So it's transparent for everyone.

    I use GoodHire's basic package. It is $26 and it’s good enough for our company. Everything is pretty simple. I like it. I talked to their rep when I was trying to sign up for it, and he walked me through the whole process. The timing of getting back the information depends on the candidate when they're putting in at the report. But on GoodHire, they are pulled very fast. So far, GoodHire is so good. We got one alert yesterday and it was from all the other candidates that we were using it for. They were all pretty scared. But since we got an alert, we know the thing actually works.

    The GC that we are working with told us about GoodHire. They were hired for one of our jobs so we did a background check. It is really easy using GoodHire when it’s working correctly. But when you try to save in Excel and upload, for some reason it doesn’t save the date of birth and the socials. It’s always a problem when you go to upload. When you go back into it, there’s always a problem and it changes them to the number sign. Other than that, sometimes GoodHire works and sometimes it doesn’t. I had trouble with these last uploads so I had to call and have somebody do it for me. I’m not sure what the problem is but I probably have to upload a few more people soon. When that time comes and if I’m having trouble, I’ll just call GoodHire. The customer service has been fine. They’re friendly.

    GoodHire is the company that our third-party HR facilitator uses for background checks now. Usually, the third-party HR company had done the background checks. But once they switched to GoodHire, they gave us the ability to run the checks directly. I log into a website, enter the candidate's email address and pick out whatever suite of background check services that I wanna run on a potential candidate. It generates an email for the candidate who then logs in and gives the requested information. The company starts the background check and sends periodic emails updating me of the status and if there are any issues that arise.

    The mechanics of ordering it is fine. Sometimes, it takes a lot longer than expected for the reports to be finalized. But otherwise, it seems to be pretty standard. They seem to have some trouble getting responses. It could be that the individual companies or schools that they're trying to interface with aren't as responsive as others. There was one instance when a candidate did not fill out school information and I resubmitted it for the candidate to get a second chance to do so. GoodHire then contacted me and said that they wouldn't charge us for the second round. So that was a positive experience.

    I came to know GoodHire through my corporate headquarters. I’ve used many other companies for my tenants, but it has been different times. Whatever was available at that time showed up online. But for the employee checks, I always use GoodHire for this company. GoodHire is much easier. Also, it's very quick. I get the basic check within a couple of hours, so that’s really helpful.     I researched GoodHire as we were looking for a company that costs less than others. We’re still using some others and compared to ease of use, GoodHire is much easier to use on the front end, but they're not as quick. Some of the background checks are what we needed for some of our other programs, but they weren’t slow either. They provide a pretty good product and the ease of use for our employees to fill it out on their own and give permission on their own. My only issue for the program we’re using them for is they quote us one price, and they charge us more than that several times.

    I Google-searched background checks and came across GoodHire. Some of the experience in using them are good but some of them took quite a long time. A couple of days ago, I got a report back which took over two weeks. We’re in the trucking industry and the kind of stuff that they run doesn’t work in the industry we’re in. These guys don’t typically have a lot of patience waiting for answers. I talked to the reps from GoodHire when the reports were taking too long to get back and they just said the same thing.     I've done a couple of background checks with GoodHire and it was very easy. They didn't ask for too much information and then, getting the information back could go from the same day to two days, depending on the person. I've spoken to their customer service through the little messenger thing on the side. I just had someone contact me because I got an alert for a candidate. They said that for me to speak to them about the candidate I would have to be on the phone. So, I just gave them my phone number and they called me. I did a background check for a candidate that was in Puerto Rico and they don't do Puerto Rico but they were very good and they refunded me the money, right then and there.

    Utilizing GoodHire to run background checks is easy. I do whatever order we still have to check and if I'm not sure about something, I'll message them on the chatline and they'll answer my questions. I then go forward with whatever it is I'm ordering. While the system is not bad, it would be easier if we had an account rep since we do it as often as we do. I requested it several times, but nobody ever comes back to me or give me an acknowledgment that I asked if we could have an account rep. It would be nice to have a contact person who knows everything we need and says, “Hey. Can you help us?” instead of me trying to speak to three different people. If I don’t have the information, I would have to go back and chat with someone and explain the whole situation all over again. It gets frustrating at times.

    Was a client at GoodHire for over 2 years. Most of the time the system works fine for background checks. A background check is a necessary evil that you just want done simply, correctly and at the price you contracted to pay. When it does not work with GoodHire the wheels come off. I have a contract that calls out to pay $30 per check. We always order the exact same service. Most of the time I am billed correctly. They are always trying to upgrade you or do a "inspection" of your location for an added fee, but if you resist the system works most of the time.

    This most recent time I was charged $39.99 just out of the blue. After holding for just about 2 minutes I was able to explain the problem to the call center who said "Let me talk to someone. It will just be a minute." and they put me on hold for over 40 minutes (until I gave up and called back). The new representative agrees my contract is for $30 and they charged $39.99, but cannot refund. I know they are a large company, but they could have cared less if I stayed or left. Guess my business was not worth the $9.99 overcharge.

    I moved on to Crimcheck and I am always billed the contract amount and no up-selling goes with the order. Wish I would have spent the last 2 years with Crimcheck. If you don't mind hour phone calls being told, "Yes. We should have charged you your contract, but we will not do anything about it because you already paid use GoodHire." If you want to spend your time on your business use Crimcheck.

    Using GoodHire, I like that the applicant gets the information right away as soon as it is sent. That's seamless. And then they fill out their portion, and that starts the process. So, all I'm really doing is putting in their first name, last name and their email address, and then the applicants complete the rest of it. I had one instance though where one of the applicants said that the information that was found wasn't hers, and there was a discrepancy. It was something severe that we wouldn't have hired her. GoodHire really helped us walk through the steps and confirmed that the applicant would have to file paperwork, and they directed her back to them. She had to prove to them in order for it to go through or make any changes, which she wasn't able to. So, we ended up not hiring her. It was nice that it took us out of that process of it. I liked that part of it.

    GoodHire is very quick to respond with any issues I've had. When I started, I asked for some additional training since I was new, and I got that quickly. My representative is pretty easily to ask questions. There was one time she was out of the office, but I just called the help desk and they were readily available to help me. I didn't have any problem getting the answer I needed within the same day.

    I have moved here from a different company and I reached out to my former head of HR and they said they use GoodHire. I bought it up to our management team and we decided to use them. Running a background check with GoodHire is extremely simple. They make it easy for people who don't have experience. Most of the responsibility falls on the candidate. We just need their name and email.

    The people at GoodHire handle sending the candidates the form, which is nice. We don't have to be in charge of that and it takes a bit off our plate.     I found GoodHire via internet search and liked their format. I also liked the fact that they allowed the use of both fed and state compliance. So far, using GoodHire to run background checks has been a good experience. I wish that we could cancel background checks though or at least put in a date and time when the background check automatically gets canceled if a candidate doesn't complete it. We've had to waste time picking up the phone and calling in order to get that accomplished. Plus, when we get an alert status on someone and they give us a multiple name differentiation, the system doesn’t allow us to send a response back asking for clarification. It would be nice if that was automated as opposed to us having to reach back out to the candidate. Still, GoodHire is a good company and I've recommended them to a few others.

    I liked the ease of use of GoodHire's services and their site is simple. Also, they have a reasonable price and I like that they give you different options depending on what kind of background check you’re looking at. Then, when I called the company to ask a couple questions from their customer service, they were really good. So, I went with them.

    Utilizing their system to run a background check has been great. For everybody that I ran through, it has been super fast except for the last one. There is one candidate that I haven’t heard about, although I ran the background check for that candidate a week ago or more. It's still pending. I don’t know what’s happening with that candidate and why it is taking a long time. If I have to wait a certain amount of time, it would be nice to hear from GoodHire or get some notification from them that they’re still working on it. That was one negative of my experience with them. But other than that, they have very good customer service and I have recommended them to other people.

    I've used GoodHire for several years and have performed over 100 background checks through their system. At the end of 2018, GoodHire changed their system and now charges additional surprise fees on well over half of the employment verifications and education verifications that I have run through their system. A $79.99 check easily becomes a $115 check due to those fees. It's bait and switch and misleading. I do not recommend this service.

    GoodHire's online interface is well-suited for this day and age. I have a minimal amount of paperwork that I deal with so it’s quite easy to initiate a background check. The communication between GoodHire and the person being screened is also electronic so there’s a clear trail. Also, the information is less prone to error or misunderstanding. Receiving the actual background checks has been smooth as well and their reps have always been helpful. Although there could still be an improvement in the international pieces of the background check, where I would recommend that they communicate a little more frequently. Those run over a long period of time of up to three weeks and we have to have status updates, which they do for the domestic part of the background check. Still, GoodHire is definitely an option to consider. I’m not looking to change anytime soon.

I wasn't sure if the alert meant that the person was either using an incorrect social security, was not trustworthy or it was something that I can just ignore.     We had sourced GoodHire to run a number of background checks for our company. When we explained to GoodHire exactly what it was that we were looking for, they ensured us that what we were purchasing was gonna give us all the information that we needed. We submitted close to 200 applicants and approximately 30 or 40 disclosed that they had prior felonies or misdemeanors on their record and so we expected it to show up when we ran the background checks. But none of that information showed up on GoodHire's reports. They came back all clear. When we ran our background checks with another company, they did come back with all the information that individuals had previously disclosed to us, which GoodHire background checks never did.

    Running the background checks wasn't hard and the individual that we worked with was very kind throughout the process until we got to the point where we weren't getting the information that we needed. Everyone got defensive and we could never get a positive resolution with the company. There were a lot of excuses and a lot of back and forth. They didn't handle the matter in a professional manner. It got elevated to a level where they continued to defend themselves, their product and their service. We weren't happy so we cut our losses with them rather than having to waste time and taking them to court. It was a bad experience and I would never recommend them to anybody ever again.

    GoodHire covers our needs and the price seems right. It doesn’t cover Puerto Rico though. Also, we have mariners, so they don’t work in this area and they can be anywhere and every time GoodHire asked me about where they are gonna work and if they are gonna work in this location, I write “no,” but the system still makes it about this location and there’s no way to fix it. When it comes back and says that the person is not connected to the social security number and I run it again, GoodHire charges me again. The issue is that maybe the person doesn’t have a credit history and I’m paying multiple times to get that. I want that fixed, so that it makes a bigger search, a state-wide search and if I just submitted it, I should be able to go right back in and let me look at the information again. But other than that, I do get what I need immediately. I would recommend GoodHire.

    I went to use their service to see if I had a warrant against me and even paid an upcharge for a premium service. They came back with nothing against me but guess what happened when I interacted with the cops. Of course I get arrested and spent a night in jail for their inactions. I called them and told them this and they then told me that they do not check every county. Well why is it when I ask you didnt do it then? Total absolute fraud. Other better service providers out there that will not sell you something fake.

    I brought GoodHire into one of the companies I used to work with and I had a good experience. Then I also brought it here in my current company. Using it to run a background check has been easy. However, the interactions I had with them has been weird. We had an account manager but the account manager moved and then we had a different one. There is no account manager now so I miss having a designated person to ask questions when we have a lot of alerts that come up for some reason. It would be nice if there is a designated person instead of waiting on some random alias to respond. But it's okay if that’s not their business model anymore.

    We are a staffing agency and so, we have a lot of background checks that we do every month. We were unhappy with our current background service so, we did some research and GoodHire is the one that came up. It's better than what we used to have. It's much, much faster, much more user-friendly, and all around much better. I like that when there is an alert that happens, we're able to clear that and make sure it's okay. We're also able to request comments about the alert from our candidates specifically. That makes it extremely easy, as in all in one place and consolidated.

    The return time is just phenomenal on what we've had so far. We haven't really had any issues and I like that it tells us exactly how much each background check is going to cost and that we're able to create packages for each individual client that we need.     The customer service at GoodHire is a lot better than the other background check service providers we've had before. I appreciate their quick response time and the friendliness of everybody that has helped me. That was a huge plus. I have to go via phone tree with a lot of the other companies, or they’re not able to get me an answer right away versus GoodHire where they seem to be able to make things work quickly.

    We had been working in the beginning with somebody named Dan, and he was knowledgeable. He didn't insult our intelligence because we have done this before with background check companies. I pretty much came to the table already knowing what my questions and concerns were gonna be as far as processing. He took away the base part that he maybe would normally do with another company. We cut to the chase, so that was nice. He wasn’t pushy at all on us. He wanted to make sure that we felt comfortable and had time to think about it. And then we moved on to a dedicated customer service rep named Tracy, who’s been phenomenal. Anything that we needed, she made it happened. She is responsive to emails and has jumped on calls with us to troubleshoot early on.

    The only sticky situation we got into was the transitioning in between Dan and Tracy where there probably could have been an improvement in communication. There were some things lacking from our reports that we did, and some things that were suggested after the fact when we were to go start processing reports. They’ve spun something new on us and it delayed our reporting, and packages weren’t put together correctly. But I could not say it is one person’s fault. That just seemed like a lot of things were lost in translation between the passing.

    But other than that, utilizing GoodHire is simple and straightforward. They were able to put together a package for us so I do not have to guess what I need to get done. It’s all put together for me already. The processing time is quick. I did not feel like I got a bad experience my first couple of times using it. Sometimes our clients are really demanding and want to know updates as we get them or updates in real time about different subsections on reports. It is nice that we are able to see that with GoodHire. With the return time on the reports, it met our expectations and what we were expecting. We have only got to use GoodHire twice now, and I can say that it’s been a really great experience so far. I now have very high expectations of them because of the quality of service they have already given to us, and I feel like that’s the standard they have set. So I hope that we can continue to see that level of service here in 2019.

Everything is fine with GoodHire and it’s easier to use than what I was using prior. I’ve only used it twice but it asked me for an email address because a lot of our fieldworkers don’t have emails. A lot of them are Hispanic and they don’t speak English. So, the background checks sign the consent form which is what we do for them. It didn’t happen the first time I used it, but now, it’s getting clogged up. I get the same notices and it says, “locked account.” I would need help on that and I’m gonna call GoodHire today.

    We have to make sure that before we release any information, we get them to sign the consent that gives us permission to pull the screening. I wanna make sure that the screens that I submitted went through okay. We have jobs coming up and I have to make sure these guys can get on. Nevertheless, the system is simple and you don’t get lost in there. It’s got a big button to run a background check on a new one. I’m satisfied and it works well for me.

    The big challenge that we saw with GoodHire is their drug testing service isn't as easy to use as One Source's drug screen provider. We've run into some problems, as far as scheduling and locations, and they don't have the allocation that's within an hour and a half of Eugene, and we have an office in Eugene, so that's not too probable. So, we've had to use our previous one and we're looking to see how we might be able to integrate them into our system. Nonetheless, GoodHire has a bit of a modern feel and it's easier for the applicants to input their own information and control their own destiny as opposed to the paper system we had been using previously where they had to fill out the application and then we uploaded it. We're trying to streamline that. Their customer service has been fine. I contacted them about the drug screening part and they responded back quickly. They weren't able to really change anything but they at least responded.

    GoodHire was advertised as an integrated product through BambooHR and it is still new to us, so we are still exploring it. But so far, we've had a good experience. They've definitely returned the results much quicker than the previous background check company we had and the integration with BambooHR is a bonus. It also sounds like it is gonna continue to improve. We were happy with our previous company, but so far, we've had great service with GoodHire. I find it very user-friendly and it is clear where you hit the first button to run the background check. There are a couple different steps than with our previous company that add a couple things for an applicant putting in their information. Putting in the location where you are from can be confusing for some applicants, which is a feature that we did not have with our previous background check company. But overall, GoodHire is straightforward and it meets our expectations.

    The customer service team at GoodHire is very friendly and knowledgeable, and they are quick to provide service. I don't need to wait a long time on hold and they have resolved my problems quickly. GoodHire is affordable and they have the easy-to-use option that has a strong customer service and seems to be evolving and growing, so we'll definitely recommend checking out the company.     GoodHire wasted more than a $130 of my time. It was a horrible experience that has left a bitter taste in my mouth. I was looking for a program that I could use in the future when I would hire interns or future staff which I certainly didn't find with GoodHire. Our attorney suggested them so I figured to give them a try since I was hiring someone. I even added a couple of extra things.

    I went online and tried to create my own account which is where things went sideways because we're in a small rural county. I thought I could go in and pick which counties, and it just chose for me. Also, when I tried to use our tax exempt number, it was already registered to another department. We do not have a human resources department. Every department under this government agency has to have their own hiring process and do their own background checks. GoodHire wouldn't even tell me what department I needed to contact. And so, I had to go around and figure out who had the account and have them try to add me. It took time out of their day as well. It was a mess.

    I did not get a product that I was happy about and needed then. I called at least four times and every time, I had to get my account canceled. Then, they wouldn't let me in even when I was trying different browsers and clearing the cache. Then, they would say they've fixed it. I didn't need to spend a whole week and hours making phone calls to customer service, having my credit card charged a couple of times, refunded, then recharged. It created billing problems that at the end of the month, I still had to deal with it. I also hired someone without actually having the results in my hand. I’m not recommending them to anybody.

    I’m fairly new here, so when I came here I asked the question if we could do a better job with background checks than what was previously being done. I felt it was a little difficult so I looked for a company that could assist us with that process. GoodHire's sales rep, Bev, was wonderful and very helpful.     GoodHire is cheap and easy to use. Running a background check with them is very straightforward. It’s a transactional process from a purchasing and run perspective. We also do financial background checks, and it all runs smoothly. How the system operates is equivalent to what they bill it to be.     I called Emerge program before and I prefer GoodHire because the result is more seamless and effective. Using GoodHire is also easy. All I have to do in my end, most of the time, is put the employee’s first name and last name, and then their email, and then the employee is given the freedom to go in and give consent while filling the application. Once they do that, the result is faster.

    If they signed the consent form, most of time, it only takes around 30 minutes or less than that. Sometimes like with the social and criminal background the result comes right away. Sometimes the driver’s license record takes a while. When I make errors and the customer service team are able to resolve it once I called to give the correct information. So they’re normally very quick in responding and making corrections for the mistake that I made. I recommend GoodHire to anybody.

    I went on Google and started searching for background check companies. We’re a tech company, and the way that GoodHire provides service falls in line with the way that we provide on-demand services. Things come back quickly and the site was intuitive, which were the key things. The old company that I worked for would take a while, and when we would order background checks, we had to collect personal information directly from the transferee in order to put it into the system and then submit it. I love that with GoodHire, the person requesting it doesn’t need their personal information. All they need is their name and email address, and the employee enters everything on their own. It protects personal information, so there are no worries about your Social Security number being in a spreadsheet or being provided in an unsecure method.

    I get reports the same day sometimes as long as our employee fills out the information quickly, but from the time they put it in, it comes back quickly. I also like that it’s all secured in one location. So, I can go in and view reports as needed. The information is also hidden because we don’t always need to see everything.     This disgusting company ran a horribly erroneous and straight up false background check based on a bogus employer that I never applied to, or even authorized to run a background check at all. The fraud and libel involved in this transaction is beyond words, as is the fraud who requested that it be run in the first place. I am both a licensed nurse and an elected member of law enforcement, yet this stinking POS company delivers a report that says I have a violent criminal history. Wait to hear from my lawyer.

    I've used a different background check service provider before which was a mom-and-pop so it was a bit more expensive. To save on cost, I decided to go with GoodHire. I just click a couple of boxes and input a name and an email address. I already have packages selected that I’ve talked to them about that I would commonly use, so I just click the package. There are some things that I don’t really know as far as addition or extras that I could add on. Other than that, it’s easy to use.

    At the beginning, their reps would just reach out a lot and I felt like I got emailed by a lot of different people, and it turned me off from the service. If I need something, I’d rather reach out to them and ask. I didn’t use the service at first and I stopped getting contacted by people. But then, GoodHire charge my card whenever I have a bill due which was unclear. I got an invoice that said it needed to be paid but I thought I had settled that so that I didn’t have to worry about paying invoices manually. When I reached out to them, the person who had originally contacted me told me that she was no longer my account manager and made me feel a little weird for even calling her.     The company that we were with was like an older corporate, not very well-organized company that did a lot of stuff offshore, and there were a lot of response rate issues. That company had a bit more of a stodgy, outdated feeling, and I was concerned about having that experience again, so we looked for another option. I did a search for background check companies and then I asked some people and got a bunch of recommendations. We were trying out two companies but I wanted to go with GoodHire because I had read some great things. Also, I really liked the look of GoodHire. When I saw their website, it jumped out to me as being clean and fresh and everything I saw there made me think that they were the answer to all of the issues that we had with the old company.

    The GoodHire rep who gave us the presentation was awesome but then he handed us over to a person who was gonna be our account manager. They were great when we worked with them. They were really nice, friendly, and accommodating. But we were trying to do a smooth transition from our previous company where we had the same sort of packages already set up without having to customize so much. And when we tried to do that with GoodHire, we had a hard time coming up with things that were gonna tick all the boxes we needed.

    Then, when we ran our first one, something happened that either had to do with the amount of time it was taking or with us trying to make sense of what the package or the test was called. And when we reached out to the account manager, it took a bit of time and we were disappointed. We called and left a message and then from the email, we might have gotten an out-of-office message. Then we were like, “What do we do now?" because that was our point of contact and the first time we were reaching out to them. It felt like a roadblock but then ultimately, we were able to reach out to someone else and someone called us back or emailed us. But we felt then that GoodHire was this big corporate entity and we were like, "Who are we gonna even get? Is there gonna be anyone that’s gonna care about us?”

    So we did only one or two times with GoodHire and then we wound up using Crimcheck, the other company that Debbie, my co-worker, had come across beforehand and that she has been working with. We were doing GoodHire at the same time as Crimcheck was being tried out. Crimcheck's website wasn’t as modern as GoodHire's but Crimcheck's packages were really easy for us to translate what we currently had, to what they were offering. Also, their company is a lot smaller so we were able to reach people really quickly. Debbie has started talking to one of their reps and that person is who we would be mainly communicating with. The contact was more personal and intimate and Debbie was getting responses within an hour, so she really wanted that same level of service.

    When we started with GoodHire, we were really dated since we had been working with the old company for a while, and that had a big impact on things. Had we not been really slowed down and had we been in a place where we weren’t looking for the worst, we would have been a bit more patient with GoodHire. We also thought that we were months overdue and that we should have done it four or five months ago and switched companies, so we were in panic mode. If we weren’t and if it was a toss-up, we may have gone fully with GoodHire over Crimcheck or we may have used them both equally. Still, I thought GoodHire was really great and I would definitely recommend them.

    GoodHire was on time and as thorough as they could be. I found GoodHire through ZipRecruiter, and then after ZipRecruiter stopped hosting them on their site, I went directly to GoodHire. For the last couple of candidates that I did background checks on, I went straight through GoodHire because they did a good job. Using GoodHire to run a background check was very simple. I just gave them the information on the candidate and they took care of the rest. I didn't have to do much, which is another reason why I like them.

    The turnaround time can be anywhere from three days to three weeks. It depends upon the candidate and where they went to school. If they went to school in Poughkeepsie, New York, it may take a little bit more time to get those people. But if they went to big schools that have internet and that have the ability to respond quickly, it would happen quicker.

    GoodHire was very good at communicating to me about the delays that were coming up. I would get an email if something was gonna be delayed. They were also very good when the information that they received wasn't exactly the way it was supposed to be, but it was a technical item and if it didn't really matter, there's a way you can just accept the background check knowing this. They would send an email asking you to agree or accept the finding with that stipulation. I had a good experience with GoodHire and I would use them again.

    Our company was using United before and GoodHire was recommended to them by a friend of the owner. They started using it February this year and it is a better alternative. I enjoy using it.     We used GoodHire for the first few months we were in business and they met our expectations. Using them to do background checks was very easy because somebody set a program up for us. Whatever we need for our licensing, the package was set up and it was just a couple of clicks and we were done. However, ClearCare came out with their own service called Checker, and it went along with our program. We used it thrice but we went back to GoodHire because Checker was horrible. They were cheaper and they showed up in our program but they were very slow. GoodHire is faster and their price is comparable. For our needs, it’s been great. However, I wish they worked with our program because whenever I bring up a caregiver, it says, “Background check.” I wish I could go right in there and order it. That's the only thing GoodHire was beaten at.

    A customer gave us a list of acceptable, acknowledged, verified, and vetted vendors that they would accept that we use. There were 200 vendors on that list, and I went through a few of them and looked at the reviews and pricing. I selected GoodHire. We were using a different company for 25 years and since we used GoodHire, there has been an astronomical difference. They are far superior. The biggest thing that differentiates them is the ability to see every step of the way instantly, like where your order is, where the higher check is, the elements that have come back, and if there are any issues. Everything is real time. They are also able to add on services. If you needed to do a job screening or you needed to do verification backgrounds, they will hunt down a GED from 1972. They've been extremely thorough. But we still use the old one for very local people.

    GoodHire's customer service has been very good. 10 seconds after I left their website, the phone calls began, but it wasn't in an annoying, harassing way. It was just following up and making sure that they understood what we needed. As a matter of fact, they scheduled a conference call just to make sure that they understood what our needs were strategically.     I used a different background service company before and I had GoodHire implemented about a month and a half after I started in Heartland Payroll. It's a small payroll company that I worked with and they indicated that they were partnered with and integrated their system with GoodHire. After using GoodHire, I would not go back to that other company. I really like the way that their system works and I had the easiest background check request that I’ve done with them.

    At first, I worked with their representative to set up the check that I wanted and later, I developed the secondary one. All I do is go up into the system, put in the person’s name and email address, and that’s about it. However, there was one particular individual that had multiple county checks that needed to be done and at the time, I ran into some problems with the state of California. That background check took almost four weeks and though I had the time to spend on that, that was not a reasonable expectation. The explanation I got was that in California, you had to go to physically pull the records and it sounded a little far-fetched to me. But that was the only negative experience I got. I called GoodHire twice about it and I got the same answer but I don’t know if the answer really satisfied me. However, I know they did something because they followed-up with me so for that piece, it was fine.

    Also, when doing a check through GoodHire, I have to wait for the employee to complete the whole onboarding process before I can use the integrated version of the background check with GoodHire. It’s easier for me to just do my onboarding in Heartland then go to the GoodHire site and press the button there to speed up the process. Otherwise, if somebody doesn’t fill out the paperwork until the day before they start, I can’t do the background check and I have to wait that long. But it’s not really on GoodHire’s part. It’s on Heartland Payroll. Other than that, the drug tests come back almost spontaneously and my experience with GoodHire was very good and very easy.

    I started using the applicant tracking system, Lever, and it has a built-in integration with GoodHire. At the time, I wasn’t happy with my background check vendor so I decided to try out GoodHire. Their interface was really nice. Also, their representatives that our new hires and our employees have interacted with have been really nice too. But my biggest complaint was about the employment verification process. This process is really important, but I understand that it’s coming from a third party. They’ve had inconsistencies with the vendors that have been doing the employment verifications for them that have been really slow and sometimes weren’t able to verify at all.     We did a Google search on various companies online that were FCRA regulated or approved and GoodHire was one of the companies which had a better rate. It was our first experience hiring a company to do a background check as we have just begun a new business adventure. We like the ease of doing background checks and using them is very efficient. We log in to our account and put in the name and email address of the person we want to do the background check on. We don’t have to call them or send anything. We're able to just put the information online and then go back and check online. Plus, we are notified when the background check is complete, which is really great. It’s self-sufficient.

    Their customer service is a nice thing. However, they don't have customer service in the evening and weekends. With my working hours, sometimes I don’t get to the computer to do things until the evening and have to put off contacting somebody until the next day.     We used another background service provider before and now we are using GoodHire's system which is great because it links up with BambooHR, the ATS that we're using. The process is very simplified from the application, to the interview, to the offer, and to initiating the background check because of the integration with BambooHR. The only concern I have is that when there were issues with the integration, it took more than one phone call to try to figure out if the problem was on GoodHire's or Bamboo's end. Also, we didn’t get notified when there was an issue and we only found out about this when we were waiting for the initiation of the background check to commence and we didn't know what was going on. It was always trial-and-error when there was a problem, but that happened very rarely. On the whole, everything has been working great with GoodHire.

    Reading online from a couple of different reviews, GoodHire seemed like a good way for small to medium size businesses to be able to do background checks fairly effectively and efficiently. GoodHire is the first background check provider that uses the automated approach to handle multiple facets like multiple background check types and do drug testing as well. We're a newer business and they were helpful when I first onboarded with them. And overall, it's been pretty nice using their web browser interface to be able to have background checks run on new employees.

    Their reps were pretty professional. They followed up with me if I had any questions after the start and they were able to answer. My phone interactions with them were fairly positive as well. However, there's so much information as far as background check types, especially for small businesses. So continuing to provide good resources and information as to why we should use certain ones and what the need is for them, would be great. But GoodHire did everything that I needed and it was a pretty smooth process with them. It's a good and efficient way for someone who doesn't have a large HR department to be able to do what they need. My experience with GoodHire has been pretty good and if my friends had a small to medium size business, I would recommend using them.

    I run a tech start-up and GoodHire seemed a little bit more modern than the other big competitor. But one thing that I struggle with as a new business owner is where I should draw the line from a background check perspective. A lot of people have something in their background that they don’t want other people to know about and I don’t know how to go about thinking on who I should reject. I would be more satisfied if there was some guidance from GoodHire. They don't do it for liability reasons but that would be helpful. It doesn’t even have to be a recommendation to a client. It could be just examples of what generic companies have done like, “We’re a toy manufacturer and we don’t want these types of people.” GoodHire's sales manager was fantastic though.     We were using Verified First as our background check company before. Then we went with GoodHire and the communication has been a lot faster and there has been much quicker turnaround, so that was a plus. It has been a lot easier to get a hold of somebody over the phone. Also, I usually follow up with an email and I get a response back quickly. But GoodHire has been taking much longer for us to get the results of background checks back and sometimes it took a couple of days or a couple of weeks. With the other company, it was instantaneous, and we got the results two seconds after we submitted our request.

    In addition, the learning curve has been a little bit bigger than I was expecting. When I select the products that I want to order, we might run a driver’s license, depending on the company and the location of the hotel. When I choose the background check option, the next screen gives me a whole bunch of other options to add. That was very confusing for the team members as they didn’t know if they were supposed to select any of the other options or to continue with the background check. We did a conference call to show them how to do it and that was helpful. Overall, though, GoodHire has been pretty good. We run the driver's license and the records of our team members and we use the drug testing aspect as well. The criminal background check goes back seven years and there’s also the county check. We utilize all these services.

    We were looking at background check companies and we found GoodHire on the internet. Years ago, we used Crimcheck and then, we also used HireRight. GoodHire has been cheaper and they can get information back to us faster. When we first got started with GoodHire, we talked to a couple of reps and they were fantastic and very helpful. Running a background check with them is really quick and really simple. You put the information and submit it. The system has been fantastic and we’ve not had any problems with GoodHire since we started using them. I’ve told others how much we enjoy it and I’ve encouraged people already to use them.     I receive the names and emails of our employees who work with minors and we process them through GoodHire. GoodHire then sends them an email requesting for additional information. They are asked a series of questions that are a little bit more personal and that can be anywhere between 24 and 72 hours, depending on the amount of information and the places the people subjected to the check lives. Then, the actual report takes between one to three days, which is appropriate and timely. However, the system is sensitive to various things, such as email addresses, and it doesn’t help us with our international staff or students since it doesn’t allow for international screening. I understand that but we have to work around it.

    Someone recommended GoodHire to us and we have an excellent experience using them. The only thing that is problematic is that only one person in the company can be the gatekeeper and run a background check because there’s one password. It would be easier if GoodHire could make it so that multiple users could go in and use it at the same company. But it operates perfectly what it’s supposed to do. It’s more just about being user-friendly for a multi-company that different individuals would wanna use it. Other than that, it’s easy to use, it’s fast and it seems to be thorough.     There's a drop-down in our BambooHR and when we decide we have a new hire, I hit initiate background check then it's sent over to GoodHire. They then send out a letter to the prospective new employee saying we're gonna do a background check. We then get emails saying the background check started, it's almost done and it’s completed. And their customer service team is very good. They always answer my questions. They're always friendly and I've never had to wait on hold too long so it's all good. I'm very satisfied with GoodHire. Their service works quite well. The only problem is that they don't do international so we have to go to a different vendor if we have somebody who lives out of the country. Other than that, they’re efficient and I would suggest using them.

    One of our other recruiters used GoodHire at one of her previous positions and we were in the process of ending one of our contracts with who we were using before and she recommended them. So we looked into them and decided to try them out. Their better than the previous background check provider we had. They get the background checks a lot faster and the system is very easy to use.

    Recently I contacted their customer service team because I was trying to run a background check on a candidate in Ireland who we wanted to come to the US and it wasn’t letting the candidate input his information. They said, “Oh, by the way he can’t do that until he’s actually in the United States. You all can run an international background check, but you can’t run one while the guy is out of the country." They are very informative and they have the support there if we have any questions. I would definitely recommend utilizing their services.

    GoodHire is fairly easy to use for the most part. The turnaround time is pretty good too, usually it's within a day or two. But the last couple ones that we did took a lot longer. Then in this last background check, we had one that was unverifiable as far as the employer. I reached out to GoodHire about that and they were perfectly nice and seemed knowledgeable and helpful. They gave me the information I was looking for even though it wasn't the answer I wanted. What happens is they call a certain number of times and if there's no an answer, they mark it as unverifiable. Then, if we want them to try a different one, we have to pay an additional fee. Still, it's definitely worth giving GoodHire a call. I'd tell my follow HR agents to give them a shot.
