I like having my Medical Alert. I fell when I had the device, but since I could get to the phone, I didn't punch the button and just called. I'd rather do it that way than get everybody out of bed.

I'm 88 and although I've moved into an apartment that has an alarm system which I could use, I use Medical Alert because I have a pendant and I wear it when I'm in the bathtub. It also has the possibility of my being able to use it and wear it around when I'm out of the apartment if I need to. I haven't felt that need yet, but if it comes to that, I'm pleased that I have that capacity. And though I haven't had to use it as an emergency tool yet, I have had help with checking it every month. Their team is pleasant and helpful.

My son wanted me to get a Medical Alert so I got one. I wear the bracelet all the time. It's so much easier than the one around the neck. I've tested it once and it's fine. They sent it in the mail. The lock that goes on the door was not in it. So they had to send it. I have the device sitting on my end table beside of my chair that I sit in most of the time so it'd be easy to reach. This goes to 300 feet. It goes down as far as my mailbox.

I had vertigo off and on for quite a while and sometimes I start to lose my balance. My daughter thought I needed something since I live alone with my dog. I wear my Medical Alert all the time. I'm 90 years old but I'm really pretty good for my age. I still volunteer in the hospital on Wednesdays and do a lot of things in my church and try to keep active. My Medical Alert gives me a sense of a good feeling that I'm protected. One time, I bumped myself and they called and asked me if I was all right. I have really felt comfortable with it. They're there for me if I get in trouble and the device is a part of my life now.

My daughter got me a Medical Alert and I feel better knowing I can get help if I need it. I feel safer with it on and so I wear it all the time. I got the Medical Alert device as a safety precaution. I'm trying to be at home by myself. In case I have a problem or get in a situation where I can’t make any contact then I would have an option. I wear it everyday, and like having it as a backup because you never know when a situation may come up. And not necessarily for me, but for anybody that may come to the house. I have my grandchildren there and if something happened to them and we’d be there by ourselves, then I can get assistance for them as well. So far, I've had a very pleasant experience and Medical Alert has always been very professional. I enjoy being a part of the Medical Alert family.

My Medical Alert device is certainly serving its purpose. I put it on my wrist and I take it off at night. I figured I’m not going to fall and break a hip while I’m in bed so I just put it back on in the morning. I tested it a couple of times after it was installed and it worked fine. I’ve had no problem with it. I can press the button and there’s somebody there if I'm in trouble. I've not been in any trouble though.

I have medical problems and Medical Alert worked very well for me when I travel because they know exactly where I am at all times. It's good to have for an emergency so that I can contact somebody. I have the round-the-neck device and another one that I carry with me when I'm out in the car or wherever I go. I've never had an official emergency but I have called them to check and see if it's working properly if I'm out of town. Then I hit it by mistake a couple of times and they got right back to me. I would suggest it for anybody who is at a certain age or has medical problems should have because it saves lives very easily. It's great!

I got a Medical Alert device because I'm 76 years old and I live alone. It's a little bit of a hassle to have two devices because I got the wrist device and the other one which I have to have with me at all times, otherwise, the wrist device wouldn't work. It's an inconvenience to have to remember to put that in my purse and the carrying case that goes with it. I got to thinking about it the other day and if I should become disabled and press that button, there's no way to get into my purse to get the other piece of equipment and be able to speak to somebody. So, I'm assuming that with the GPS system, they would find me.

I live alone and I fell and broke my hip last year. I started with Medical Alert back in September and I'm beginning to have to pay for it. The devices are easy to carry although their necklace is a little long. At night, I wear the wristband. They work. They've called me twice when I set off the alarm unintentionally. The only complaint I have is that the calls come through as unknown caller or private caller. I have caller ID and ordinarily, I just don't answer the phone. When I set off the alarm on the necklace, I didn't realize it. The first time I did it, I had gone to the kitchen and turned the garbage disposal on. However, I did happen to answer when they called my cell phone. It was an unknown number to me and no caller ID. That's something that bothers me because it could mean I have to answer every phone call. I'd be sitting here answering the phone all day long.

I bought a pendant from Medical Alert that would work within my house and yard. Then, I had to carry a larger emergency button in my purse when I leave home. That was a little bothersome. I wanted to have just one pendant but it was so big and cumbersome that I returned it. I haven't heard anything back that they received it. I am now using the smaller neck pendant. I have peace of mind, particularly at night. I like to put the neck pendant beside my bed. I had fallen twice and this is a precaution in case I fall again and need help. I always wear it at home and I try to remember to take the other whenever I leave home. Last week, since I have two different devices, I pressed it to see if they still work and I had a very nice response. I live in a retirement community and I have recommended them to many people.

I have hearing problems and Medical Alert was a big help to me and my wife when she was still alive. She was falling on several occasions and pushed her button, and I had the device right by my bed and responded to her fall. So it worked out real good. My wife passed away in October, but I'm still using the equipment because I have dizzy spells every once in a while and I'm prone to falls. It's working fine and I'm satisfied with it.

It'd be nice to have it no matter where I went, but that's more money and I'm not going to mess with that right now because I have a cellphone with me most of the time, although I realize I wouldn't be able to use the cellphone if I fall and hit my head, so I'd have to take a chance that somebody else would be able to assist me.I've had fewer worries especially at night time. But, the only thing I worried about is when I'm in the shower in my basement and accidentally bumped the button so I wouldn't be able to hear it down there if the alarm went off.

I've had to call Medical Alert three times. The first was when I signed up on March 13th of 2015, and it was a satisfactory encounter. Second was eight weeks ago and Medical Alert's response was slow in picking up the phone while I was having a heart attack. The phone just rang and rang and no one had picked it up for a while. Third encounter was yesterday and it was unsatisfactory too.

I was calling because my bank called me yesterday to tell me that a point of sales transaction had come in for $479 from Medical Alert. I didn't know anything about it but my bill was apparently due on the 13th of March but they said they always bill on the 1st. So I paid $479. But my problem is when I signed up, Medical Alert gave me three months of promotion which would've made my bill not due until June. But I couldn't get a straight answer as of the moment. They completely twisted what I was trying to accomplish and I didn't feel well so I just said I will call them back.

A year and a half ago, my 88-year-old mother fell, broke her hip and couldn't get back up. I just left the house then. She had her cell phone with her so she called me and I came back. That's what started this whole thing with Medical Alert. She wears the device on her wrist since she didn’t like the one around the neck. She also didn't like that it was all black, so she went to her jeweler and had a gold stretch watch band put on it. Although the part that she pushes is still black. We tested the device a couple of times when we ordered an upgraded version and when she hit it by accident a few times, the Medical Alert guys responded over the device's speaker and asked if everything was okay. So we know that it works because of that. We have also recommended them to a couple of people.

The only thing is that Medical Alert should have the fall button included in their package deal instead of having to purchase it separately. When I purchased mine, the fall button wasn’t even an issue until they offered it. The fall button is very important but it’s nickel-and-diming, so I can’t afford to do that. Other than that, Medical Alert has been very good for me when I call to check on my machine to see if it’s still working and they still can find me. My wife has used her Medical Alert several times and the call-back came immediately. On several occasions, the police were summoned to come and check for her because the usual case is she falls and couldn’t get up. The police came and helped her up. I’m on the list of calls and on one or two times, I’ve had a call from the organization. As far as I’m concerned, they were on top of things.

She wears the wrist piece most of the time. There were a couple of times that, especially when I’m going to be around in the house with her, she’ll take it off because she does say it can be somewhat annoying but it’s like anything you’d use everyday and typically, it’s not bothersome. The only limitation I find with it is that it’s only good within 200 feet of the unit -- in the house and the yard. But overall, this medical alert does what it was intended to do and I can’t ask more than that.

Before having Medical Alert, I had Lifeline and I didn't like it. It was cheap and they charged me a hundred dollars just to come down here and set it up when I could have done that myself. They just came, dumped it off and plugged in to two places. The electricity went off so that set that thing off. I hollered and they checked it up. But it was no good, so I took it back. Medical Alert is way nicer and I set this one up myself.

I was in bed twice and it went off. Also, I bumped into something outside and it went off. But then I got in and cleared it. I'm wearing it all the time. They sent me an extra necklace and a wrist band and the alarm that I wanted to take in my car or pocket when I leave home. One time when I went up on the mountain and had to go pee, I got out of my car about 20 feet. I was squatting down and fell on my head I couldn't get up, and that's the reason I bought it. But I haven't used any of them. They're still in the box and I was just wondering if I could just send them back and not charge me so much.

There was also one night, when I didn't have the medical alert yet, that I was feeling really strange and my son was here but he didn't offer to stay. I got right up and went to bed, I didn't even stop to take my pills. I went into the bedroom and fell over backwards. I remember hitting my arm on the knob of the dresser and my head hit the vent of the air conditioner. I laid there a little bit and then I raised my head up as far as I could to see what kind of predicament I was in and what to do to get up. It's like someone slammed my head harder so I got right back down on that vent and I didn't wake up till the next morning. I struggled to reach the telephone and dialed a number I couldn't see. My internet provider came on the line and helped me.

However, Medical Alert ain't going to keep me from falling. I went out to the freezer last night and fell in the corner. I called for help but then they couldn't have gotten in the house since they got no key to come in. But they probably wouldn't have thought to go out. They followed it though since I wear the one with GPS on it.

The only problem I have is that the cord around my neck is too long. They could tape it or reduce some so it don't stick in the neck. Also, it should have a deal that one can speak into it instead of having me hurry from the bedroom to pick their telephone. It would be easier for me to the monitor if I could take it back in the bedroom by my telephone. But if I had to use this medical alert, it would’ve been good.

A lot of people have asked me about Medical Alert and I've told them that it's been a great thing for me. I've had three heart attacks so one of my nurses at the hospital told me I was a dead man walking and the VA suggested that I get it, but theirs is only in-house. With Medical Alert, I can push the button anywhere. I always keep it with me so I know that if anything happens anywhere, I'd be able to push it and they'd be able to come and get me and when I'm out, I have the one that has a GPS on it. It's like having somebody with me at all times. I feel safe now and very happy. Other people have gotten it since I’ve had it.

I am rating my experience with Connect America solely on the resolution of a billing issue. It's a long story, but I received a collection notice for an account we had had for my father with Medical Guardian. I was told they are the sister company of Connect America. I was incredibly frustrated and had had a variety of issues leading up to the collection notice. However, once I spoke to Anna in customer service, the problem was immediately resolved. She said that they had made an error and apologized. I received a confirmation email within minutes. Anna handled the matter professionally and quickly.

I tested it one day and called Medical Alert. The lady that I talked to said, “Go ahead and test it now.” So I did. They cut in and I said, “No ambulance, no ambulance, testing equipment,” and here comes the ambulance at my door -- that was so fast! I went to the door and said, “You had to be around in the community somewhere to get here that quick." And then told him, "I am so embarrassed because I begged them not to send an ambulance.” He said, “That’s okay. You don’t owe us anything. We knew there was no emergency here.” So it's good. It seems they didn’t pay any attention. But Medical Alert is a good service and I’m glad to have it. I feel very comfortable with it. I wear the bracelet at night and my necklace in the daytime. I'm never without it and I don’t plan to give it up. I live alone and when you’re alone, it's like security.

I called Medical Alert because my husband was very ill and needed that kind of thing. He had had a fall. And we did most of our business over the phone. A young man came to see me. His sales presentation was very professional and I was very happy with it. We went with Medical Alert and it's a relief that they're there if you need them. We never did have to use Medical Alert in an emergency though. The alert button was touched accidentally twice and everything worked out fine, almost immediately.

The alert button only works within the confines of our yard and home, so we don't wear it when we leave. But my husband wore it all the time around his neck since we got it until he passed away. I'm going to leave Medical Alert when our time with them runs out, and by then I may be in another residence. The problem is, I wasn't aware that they were an American company. If I had my choice again to renew, at the end of our time with them I would go with a Canadian company.

I got Medical Alert because I had a bad fall. I laid on the floor all night not being able to get anybody to hear me. That was my wake-up call because I have thought about it before, that I should have a medical alert device where I live alone. I feel better because I know I can reach somebody if anything bad happens again. My device is like a necklace I wear around my neck. I do have it with me all the time. There's a little button in the center that I push if I get in trouble. It does give me comfort to know I've got something but it doesn't cover all scenarios that might happen.

I've heard about other models that you don't have to push a button. It has a sensor so that if you fall or you're in trouble, it picks up what's happening without you having to push a button. It came across my mind that if I would be unconscious, the device I have isn't that much help because the button wouldn't be pushed. So, I don't know whether I made a very wise choice or not but it seemed any people I talked to has the push button model and not having had any experience, I just went with it. Overall, I'm happy with the device I have as far as what it provides. I haven't gotten into any trouble or need any help and everything has been fine so far.

I had no problems getting my Medical Alert device. The minute I called, I got it in three days. I was having syncopal episodes and I live alone, so if I got knocked out or hit my head and I couldn't get up, I wanted to be able to call someone. The only thing I've done with my device though is test it because I haven't had a need for it, but every time I do, they answer in 15 seconds, then it works and I can have a two-way conversation with them. I set out the one that I can wear on my belt, the one I can wear around my neck, and the one that's on my wrist. It's nice that I only have to check once and it checks all three at the same time. I haven't had any problems with the device lately, but I still need it around. I never thought I was gonna need one but before I retired I encouraged my patients to use it.

The system has GPS that goes all the way around the country. The Medical Alert team told me it’s much better if I call before I leave for my vacation and tell them in what state and city I'm in. That's convenient, but they can tell by the GPS where I am and what place I have preference for. It works if I'm in a parking lot and if someone's following me, I can just push the button and talk to somebody and they send the police. I can use it in my sisters in Dallas, Delaware, and New York. I can use the device all over. It's also very light.

I used to have a different system but I found out it was the same one only that it was bought out and it changed to a different name, and it annoyed me that they said I have to put the equipment in the same box when I return it. When I did my will and the cremation papers, I put the stuff for my brother all in one place and told them where it was and to use the same box. I put a picture of everything he had to put in it, with the regular packaging. I had to pay $298 if I don't send it back the same way I got it because it was free when I first did. But it went up to $398.00, and also, they raised my regular price to $46.

I said I have a piece of paper that says it's $298 and also it's $39.99 for the rest of my life or until I discontinue or don't pay for it. I said the equipment I have is only worth $298 and I didn't sign a contract, so they made it $298. They were nice and they settled it right away. They gave me to Customer Service, it was changed, and I never had a problem on my bank account as it comes automatically out of my checking account.

My husband needed protection and we chose Connect America. It went well for about 1 year and then they changed systems or something. They did not notify us of account number change or address change. Our payments were sent automatically from our bank. For nearly 3 months they claimed they did not receive the payment and the bank had to send them a fax of the canceled check. Sometimes they called twice a day or several times a week. After the matter was finally settled, I received a notice that our account was past due. That was the final straw I thought. We changed to a much better company, better service and better fees. I returned the equipment and send payment for the final month. It has been 8 days.

Now they claim they did not receive their equipment and I needed to provide a tracking number which is now not available. Before I mailed the package I called them to get the correct return address. It will be interesting to see how aggressively they pursue this new harassment because I will contact the attorney general and report them as extremely unable to handle elderly people and understand their circumstances. Their system has segmented business practices where no one knows what the next person says or does. No two people can tell you the same thing. This company does not deserve a penny for or from the elderly of our country.

First, the return label for the unit could only be sent to my mother's address, which had to be forwarded to me and delayed return till I could get back to her house two months later. Then they claimed they hadn't received the unit, but found it. They said I would get a refund of the balance of $89.85 within 30 days. When I called on the 30th day they said they were "behind" and would expedite the check. I then got a check for $59.90. When I called to complain that the amount was wrong the person hung up on me. I called back, went through voice mail jail again and had someone say, "I don't know who told you you had $89.85 coming, but you're not going to get it." The profit to grief ratio for fighting over this $30 is not good, so this time they win. I'd just like to warn people against them.

After almost a year of being a customer I asked them if they had a fall detection button. My mother had not needed one prior to this time. I was very happy when they said they did and would send it to me. Over a week later it had not arrived. I had to call again. This time they sent it and when it arrived in their own booklet of instructions it says 'Do not wear your fall detection pendant while sleeping. Please wear your alternate button or keep it nearby your bed'.

I then called to double check that this was accurate, one person had no idea how it worked, another said yes that was true. I then asked them what I need to do to cancel. They told me to call customer relations when I wanted to cancel and they would send a pre-paid FedEx label to send the equipment back. Because we needed a pendant that could be worn at night, we decided to go with another company that has a fall detection pendant that you can wear all day and also to bed. No switching pendants or putting on a table by your bed.

I called them to cancel and again was sent to someone different than their customer service rep who answered the phone. By the way the person who answered the phone asked why I was cancelling. I explained about how my mother was not able to wear the pendant at night and would have to switch pendants etc, she said "you need to tell them that is the reason." She also said she didn't know that was how it worked.

I was transferred to Shane from customer relations, he was not happy I was cancelling. Again I explained why. He said "you can wear it to bed." I told him it literally said in their printed material you could not and we had already decided to go with another company. I also told Shane I had called their company and someone verified what was printed, that you cannot wear it to bed. If you do it will take getting into bed as a fall and you will get false alarms.

I asked for a prepaid FedEx label to be sent. Shane told me they do not do pre-paid labels and I had to pay to send the unit back. I mailed it back and will be watching the account for additional charges. I am hoping they do not continue to charge the account, if so I will have to add to this review. Bottom line: Every time you call you get a different person, different people tell you different things. They directly contradict what is written in their instruction booklet, and when you want to cancel they are very rude. I would NOT recommend them.

I am disappointed and disgusted at what happened to my mother on 1/26/15 when she fell in the bathroom. She laid on the floor for 2 hours because after she pressed the button the first time the "professional" did call 911 but did NOT tell them where the key was, her age or the dogs barking would not hurt them. This was just updated several months ago. The EMTs left!!!! She then rang again. I did not have my cell phone on the floor where I worked and when I got back to the office I had 2 messages. I did not know at that time if she was dead or alive. I left to get home.

On the way I did get a 3rd notice and met the EMTs at my house. WE found my mother on the floor in the bathroom. They were very upset that no one from this company told them about where the key was. I called your company and the first person said they had no information on where the key was. I asked for a supervisor who said she had that information and didn't know why the 1st operator did not have it. From that point on my mother's condition got worse. She passed away 2/10/15.

Now I get all these instructions on cancelling her account. Why should I pay to send it back? Why do I have to pay for a service that was worthless to us until they get the equipment back? I called again and waited 15 minutes with the tracking number and was told by a rude operator that it would take another 10 days to cancel once they get the equipment?? Are you kidding me. I would NEVER recommend this company. It is unacceptable that someone who counts on your company to help with falls would not know where the key was. What a waste of money. It's bad enough to have such a bad experience but then to go through all this hassle to send equipment back is again unacceptable.
