I live alone and I’m fine with Medical Alert. I pressed it only once by accident and I was satisfied with my experience. My sister’s also getting one.

I live alone and I can’t walk and everybody I know has convinced me to have Medical Alert. I keep the button attached to my wheelchair. At one time, I somehow hit the button while I was sleeping and when I woke up, everybody’s standing while looking at me. I’ve had a good experience with Medical Alert and I will recommend it to anybody because it’s really helpful.

My husband has Parkinson’s and rheumatoid arthritis. We got the Medical Alert device for him when he falls down. The Medical Alert team has been great but not the equipment. We got one box with an antenna that was supposed to pick up the signal from the AT&T cell towers where we live but the AT&T signal doesn’t come through very well. We switched for another box which is attached to the phone but we’re getting a lot of false alarms on that. At one false alarm, a sheriff got here before I could get anybody to answer the phone to cancel it. The people that I’ve talked to have been very knowledgeable but it’s difficult getting to them because I had to go through a very long phone tree.

Everybody has been bugging me and one night, Medical Alert’s advertisement fell off a magazine I opened. I bought it without being prepared though I asked what I needed to know such as if I could wear it at the park but I didn’t ask how far away the alert is good for. When I got that other piece of equipment, I realized that it didn’t cover me when I try to get to the mailbox. I have multiple sclerosis over 50 years and I walk when I can with two canes. But if I'm really bad, like now, I'm walking with what I call a tricycle walker which got a big wheel in the front and two little ones and they're quite portable. I also have what I call the lazy walker that has a seat on it. I have no strength so I can't get out in and out of the car.
I'm not really satisfied with Medical Alert and I was distressed over the hurricanes and being without power. I got really sick and stayed for a while at my son's. I wanted to return and cancel the Medical Alert but they still call me about upgrading the system for heart attacks which they thought was a good idea for me since both my parents had a heart attack. It's my fault because I didn’t ask the intelligent question about how far away this is good for. It is not what I need and I am not housebound.

I wear my Medical Alert device around my neck. I’ve used it a couple of times and it’s good but sometimes, when I push the button it takes a little while for someone to get back to me. I would like them to speed everything up, if possible, and always have someone near the phone to talk to me if I need to.

I fell three times in the house so I called Medical Alert and they talked about the alert for falling. They sent me a bracelet and a neck thing but I'm a little disappointed. The sales rep was knowledgeable to answer the questions but he didn't tell me that I had to have a separate thing around my neck to register a fall. I got a call from a different person after I'd been set-up for over a month and I was told that I didn't get the fall alert, which was a different one and costs $35. When I got my bank statement, they had taken out $45 which was something that I didn’t want. They said they would refund it to me but they still haven’t done that. Medical Alert had me to call them to make sure that everything is working right and that there are no any issues with the unit itself, and I would definitely try to make sure that I call as often as I can remember. I seemed to have adapted to Medical Alert.

I fell and broke my neck, and my children set me up with Medical Alert. The device is very good and I'm using it every day. It was a necessity and it's worked for me. It has helped me at least several times. Also, the emergency response that was provided was absolutely wonderful. My only problem is the wristband. I always have rashes in my hand and I cannot get that snapped. It's so difficult. I fight with it every night. Some nights I just leave it on my pillow because I can't get it on.
Also, I just got the new pendant, the unit that you take everywhere that calls 911. I was going to the pool to swim but I wasn't sure if it should do into the pool water even though the pendant is waterproof. I called Medical Alert to make sure and I was told I shouldn't go in chlorine water with the pendant. It would damage the seal. But it's safe in fresh water and in lake water up to three feet. That should be pretty well noted in the instructions or brochures when you get the new alert system. But I'm happy with the device and I feel secure with it. I have recommended it to my friends.

I got a device from Medical Alert because my husband insisted. I have Parkinson's and I have had a few falls. He felt maybe I needed it. It works very well in most circumstances, but not mine because I'm still up working with the horses and working with the dogs. If I would bend over to look under a chair, it would go off. The device is too sensitive for a busy person. My husband and I also think it was a waste of money. I haven't been wearing it and will not renew it.

I like my Medical Alert device, but it wasn't explained really well to me when I got it. I got three things - a big necklace, a smaller necklace, and a watch band that I wear at night. I fell one time and I couldn't get back up but my daughter was here and we talked about how come my bracelet hadn't went off. That was before we knew that it was only the big necklace that would go off if I fell. And that I was supposed to push it no matter what and I didn't know that. That was the only thing that was wrong when it was first sent to me. It was all set up, but it wasn't explained to me how to use it. And I pay an extra $10 a month because I'm diabetic. Nevertheless, I feel safer with it. If somebody is trying to get in my house, I could always push the button. It may not be the right help but might scare them off also. Every elderly person especially those who live alone should have a medical alert device.

I have accidentally set my Medical Alert off once when I was leaning over a fence and another time when I was reaching into a cupboard over my head. They responded very quickly. I was outside both times so I did not hear it inside. They immediately called the police and the ambulance and I was surprised when they arrived. I am at the age where it is very easy to trip and fall and I have recommended it several times because I have felt very confident with it, especially if you are just going to be needing it around your home.
The people that were on the line to whom I talked to were very knowledgeable, pleasant, and were not rushing me through like I was a number. They answered all the questions, were extremely polite and informed. I have had a great experience overall and that was why I went ahead and purchased the one with the no fall system, but I don't see that much difference in them for having another price. So, I am returning that one because the original one covers all that already. Though, I wish it would go out a little further or have an accurate GPS.

I've had my Medical Alert for years now. I live alone and I'm 93 years old so I have it. My kids also thought that it would make them feel better too. When I used it, an ambulance was here in no time. I have recommended a couple friends of mine that are using them. However, they have taken out $30 out of my bank for something aside from my regular dues. I told them I didn't want it and they told me to check the bank. I've been handicapped with my foot and I hadn't had the chance to go to the bank. I'm very much disappointed with the $30, but otherwise, I've been happy with Medical Alert.

The Medical Alert customer service is good, but I’ve noticed that they gave me different phone numbers and different ways to test my device. I also was misinformed. I was wearing the necklace for almost a month and it wasn’t even activated. Someone said they activated it and it wasn’t. This was a couple of months ago. It was right after I got it. I upgraded with the special offer because I live by myself. So, I have both the wristband and the necklace and it wasn’t even on. It kept blinking. I thought it was because of the monsoon season here in Arizona. The electricity was going out every day for a little while. It happened for about six days in a row, so I unplugged and reset it. Then I called and they said that I didn’t activate my necklace for the fall sensor.
Also, I’m not clear if I need to call them to test the devices monthly or if I can just do it remotely on my own. The service was a little conflicting. Not all customer service reps were knowledgeable in the same way. Three of them told me something different. I would suggest that the new customer service reps be monitored more or they need to be trained and be more informative of all of their things. I would still recommend Medical Alert to a friend, though, because the service is good and because I’ve used it a couple of times with the watch. It works.

I wear the alert button around my neck and it says I have to wear it at night. I have a bladder problem and I get up during the night so my daughter told me to wear it. I used to have a phone all the time. Then my daughter and son-in-law got this and brought it to me because they were concerned about me. I'm just living by myself and I had fallen at the yard one time. I told them I don’t need it but they said that I do so I’ve kept it for two years now. I wear it around my neck. I took two falls and I just finished nearly six months of hospital and rehab. I broke my ankle and had several operations because I got MRSA in the wound. It was the second time I had taken a fall, so a number of people close to me told me that I should get a Medical Alert device. I then went online and read about them and I thought that it was the best for what I needed. I put mine around my neck and at night I leave it on a nightstand. If I go the bathroom, I put it on. I put the one that I could talk into in my pocket and I charge it overnight.
One night, I was in a wheelchair then, I decided to take the device off and the next thing I realized, the hose was wrapped around the wheel, and I couldn’t move an inch and I thought I’m going to have to sleep in the wheelchair. I hit the button and as soon they answered, I explained that I was not having a medical emergency and told them what happened. Medical Alert then called the local police who came over within 15 minutes.

I feel real good about having the Medical Alert device. It's comfortable and I sleep with it and I never take it off. When I get in to pool and exercise I even wear it there. I also wear it around the house but I have not had someone here to test it. I'm more apt to fall in the yard than anywhere else probably because it's rougher out there and I put the garbage on the street. I have a brick driveway, I could fall off that and I really should test it and see if it’ll work out there.
One time I must have jiggled when I was still wearing it around my neck without me knowing. I was getting in my car and driving away. When I came back maybe 15 minutes later the ambulance was already here. I thought well that’s a very good omen. I didn’t even know I had pushed it and they were already here to look after it. So hopefully when I really need it I can do it. I'm wearing a bracelet now and I haven’t set it off accidentally yet. I test it mostly. Medical Alert have an excellent response time and service and I'm happy with them.

I pushed the button, said I needed help and the emergency response was managed quickly. The medical people got here before my kids arrived so I’m very pleased. With my Medical Alert I can get around pretty good. It helps. It's on your mind that it's there. Although, you've got to remember you put it on so you don't push against it. And that's the trouble. You can push on it real easy without even knowing it, squash it on something. But I don't think I really want it anymore is that neck piece that goes off just by dropping it or if you fall without pushing the button if you wear that. A couple of times it went off. I laid it down maybe too hard or something. It's too sensitive for an active person. That would be good for a person who is tied down and could fall over really easy. But for me, it's no good because I don't use it anymore. I lay it on the side and use the original one. It's too sensitive. But if I ever needed it, I'm sure it'd help. But I'm way away from the house right now and it won't do me good. Around the house, it'd be okay.

I've had Medical Alert since the ’11 and they're always there when you need them. I'm 81 years old now and I'm still quite loving it because of my health. I have had five strokes and a heart attack. The first two times I used Medical Alert was because I accidentally pushed the button but I've gotten over that, finally. I've also recently gotten a fall button because I've had a TIA. I was on the floor wedged between the bathtub and the toilet, and it took me a while to come to but I didn't know how I got there or remember anything. So, I thought the next time something like that happened, it would be wise to have something in case I fell. It seems to work fine and I've always had almost immediate response, until yesterday.
I noticed the button that you push on the machine was blinking and I thought maybe it was a battery. I called the company to find out what was wrong because I did have trouble with another machine before and I got a portable. They explained and rectified it. It turned out that when I laid my button down to go to sleep, I apparently laid it a little too hard on the table and it sent a signal. So, the light wasn’t for an alert and nothing came on, but it was blinking. But that’s the only time and I'm happy with it. They're also courteous, prompt and knowledgeable. They're a superb option for us really and in fact, I've recommended it to several neighbors.

There is a bit of security knowing that I have Medical Alert and I have an alert system at the door so that if something should happen they can make access to the home in case I have an emergency.

I live by myself and then, last July, I fell and broke my hip. I had my cell phone and called my daughter and her husband to come and help me. They took me to the hospital and I had surgery the next morning. I’ve been through rehab and came home. My daughter got the Medical Alert that would protect me if I fall. A time or two, Medical Alert called and said that I accidentally set it off. But I usually wear it around my neck and just tuck it on the inside of my blouse so it won’t be able to bump against something when I'm working in the house. The instructions said that it wouldn’t go off like that, so we returned it. But I've been pleased with it.
I've had it for about a year now. It's easy to wear and I can bathe and sleep with it. I have the base that's plugged into the electricity and if I have to need it and push the button, it would pick on the base and send in that message. With Medical Alert, I can get out in the yard if I decide to walk around and if I fall, I can still call them. It only reaches a short distance from the base, but I don't get out by myself that much anyway anymore. I'd recommend Medical Alert to anybody that lives alone and to anybody at my age of 91.

Since using the Medical Alert, I haven't fallen down and that’s a good thing, but I'm more confident, too, that if I do fall, there will be somebody there to help me ASAP. I had a couple of fall downs in which one I fell in my utility room and nobody knew it. I was doing laundry and I tripped over something. I have Meniere’s and I don’t have very good balance. I knocked myself out, so I lied on the floor for about 45 minutes.
Then another time, I was on my way to my regional radiology center. In walking around my vehicle to go to the other side, I tripped over the curb and fell, and scratched up my leg and my arm. I had to holler for help. Nothing was broken but I looked like I've been in a war zone. That’s when I decided, “Okay. I need one of those systems.” I wear the Medical Alert necklace most of the time and once a month, I check my system. It's comfortable and I put it underneath my shirt. At night, I take the necklace off because I've had a couple of times where I slept with it and I set it off. But I can wear it in the shower. I also have a bracelet that I can wear. I'm very glad to have Medical Alert.

I'm 76, I live on my own since my husband died and I fell so I decided I needed Medical Alert. When I got it, the button was very temperamental. When it's on my body, I only have to lean against something and it will set off. So I sent away for a new button. When the new one arrived, I also got a card saying that I could have the mobile alert for when I am on the road. So I asked Medical Alert about it then sent for it. It came then I asked my son to come over from work and have a look at it. He said that was a bit silly for me to order but I told him that sometimes I have to go out on my own so I needed it. But he said I don't do that very often. When he opened the box, he took two bits out, looked at it, read the papers and we decided I didn't need it.
In the meantime, Medical Alert sent a bill through for the mobile one which said I owed $500. They didn't tell me it was a separate unit. I was already paying $300 for the first one and I can't afford two of them like that. I also assumed that the units were from the same people and that the mobile alert just went with the other one. I planned on sending them back the mobile alert but my son went offshore after that then I got sick so I couldn't do anything about it. When I finally got well enough to sort all of my businesses out, Medical Alert sent a message saying that I hadn't paid the bill. I told them that I was sending the mobile alert back since I didn't need it. Not only that, I got an oxygen machine fixed up and all my electrics and most of my plugs are being used. So I didn't have another plug I can plug it into and I didn't want to have another extension cord on the floor. But they called again and said I needed to pay the bill.
Finally yesterday, I got on my own, took it to the post office and sent it away. They're supposed to get it sometime today or tomorrow. But they still phoned me up and said that I had the band all that while so they were going to have to charge me two months' pay. I told them I will send them a check for that but when I asked how much it cost, they said they will take it out on my credit card. Now, I don't know if they had taken it out of my credit card or how much it was. But I was very upset by all that because I never used the mobile alert, plus I told them I was sick and on my own for about a month which was the reason why I didn't send it back immediately. But the people who run that mobile department didn't seem to be bothered by that. They've got no feelings and all they were worried about was getting two more months pay out of me.
As for the first device I got which is the indoor one, the only time I've had to press the button was when I set it off accidentally. Then one time, I felt so sick that I had to go to the hospital. I couldn't get anybody to take me and it's late in the night time. Medical Alert sent a big man came around and he helped me. It took a long while before he came but it wasn't his fault. It's because I live out in the boonies. They also got in touch with my daughter-in-law and she came to the hospital. So I'm quite satisfied with that device and I would recommend it.

My device made me feel safer a little bit. It has gone off twice and the Medical Alert team said it was okay when I told them it was an accident.
I had a device that I smashed the button when I needed it, and then they would answer and help me. While my Medical Alert device would go off by itself if I fall, it is a little bit heavier around my neck than the other one was because it's made out of some kind of ceramic stuff. The other one is made out of hard plastic. I would recommend it to somebody who is home alone and doesn't have anybody to come in case something comes up. You'll never know how long you're going to lay there and that gets very scary.

That’s why I have it. It's for my safety. The device is convenient and it gives me peace of mind knowing that I have it. I wear it around my neck all the time but I'm forever bumping it and it's very sensitive. It's embarrassing because I try to be careful, but the first thing I notice, it's going off. The Medical Alert reps have all been very courteous every time they come on though. They tell me not to worry about pressing my device by mistake.
It's been very good with Medical Alert, however, the device only goes out about 80 feet from the base which sits in the living room. If I was out in the yard and I fell and I had to push it, I don't know if they will come through. I don't know what will happen if I'm not able to answer the machine in there. And that's my main thing. I was out in the laundry room one time and my phone rings, and it was them calling to see if I needed help. I may have bumped it somewhere along the line. So, I don't know if that is the next thing they do. My sister is my emergency contact, so they have her number to call before they call an ambulance. I am wondering if the normal thing that they do is call on the phone.

Two months later, they were still billing us for a monthly service charge. When I called to complain, and told the woman that I had proof that they had received the equipment, the woman said she would check the warehouse. Apparently, if you don't call to complain, they never bother to "check the warehouse", and simply keep billing the deceased customer. This is a horrible thing to do to a family that just lost a loved one. There are other medical alert companies. Avoid this one.

After my 86 year old mother fell twice, both times necessitating a trip to the emergency room, I looked into alert systems with fall detection for her. Medical Alert seemed to have good reviews so I ordered the system. When it came she found the pendant heavy and uncomfortable to wear. The alternative wrist monitor was flimsy and scratched her wrist. And it was then I discovered she had to wear a second device for the fall alert. They hype their no contract feature so I questioned the customer service rep several times about canceling if she didn't like it or didn't need it and was told to simply return the system and request a refund. We were supposed to receive a lockbox which never came even though I called and requested it again after the system came.
During a home visit the nurse mentioned Life Alert which requires only one pendant so I ordered that system and it did come with one lightweight pendant for both emergencies and fall detection. It cost a little more but was worth it for my mother's comfort and to make sure she would wear it. And they sent someone to her home to install and test it.
I then called Medical Alert for instructions on how to return their system. I pushed the number for returns and was kept on hold an inordinately long time. When the customer service rep finally came on she was hostile and argumentative and told me my mother only had to wear the fall detection pendant and not the emergency pendant. What??? The fall detection does not allow her to call for help in an emergency. I guess if she had a heart attack she would have to remove the fall detector and throw it on the ground so they know she needs help??? She finally gave me the return address and I shipped the system back to Medical Alert. After two weeks with no refund to my mother's credit card, I called Medical Alert and was told it takes two weeks to log the return and then another two weeks to process the refund unless they are called with the tracking number.
I had the tracking number and asked why I wasn't told that when I first called and was told "I should have been" and it would take another two weeks. It has been over the second two weeks and I just called to check on the refund and was told it was in process and would be "expedited" to be processed in the next five days. They have held almost $500 of my mother's money for over a month. Nice people to deal with getting in but watch out when you try to get out.

They stated that the doctor's order had not been signed and they were waiting for a new prescription.
I contacted my doctor's assistant. She remembered the doctor signing the order and sending it along. She also stated they had not been contacted by Connect Medical and had not received any requests for a new prescription. She gave me her direct line number which I promptly gave to Connect Medical. We received another call stating things were in progress. It has been more than 3 weeks now. I called today. Surprisingly had an actual person answer. She checked and stated they were waiting for a signed doctor's order. She confirmed that they had the direct phone number for the doctor's assistant. She was not able to help. That they have another department that handles contacting providers. If you can go elsewhere to get your medical equipment...

We are not a medical equipment company that issues product based on a doctor's prescription so your negative review of our company is misplaced.

My mother passed away trying to get help from medical alert. On January 23, 2016, my mother hit her Medical Alert button for the first time. The operator called out to my mother through the device and asked if she needed help. My mother tried to respond twice. Both times it was not clear, however, it was obvious she was trying to respond. After the second time, the operator heard my mother trying to respond. Although her response was unclear, the operator's tone clearly shows that she heard something and then she began asking if it was my mother. My mother also hit her button multiple times. I was told that the last time she hit it she kept hitting it.
I spoke with Susan ** and she told me she "may have panicked." The operator still waited 2 more minutes before calling EMS. The operator called her house and cell phone and took the time to leave a voicemail message. In all, it took 6 minutes for Medical Alert to call EMS. The operator then spent approximately 4 minutes relaying mostly irrelevant information to EMS. 911 had to cut the Medical Alert operator off to dispatch EMS. It took EMS less than 4 minutes to reach my mother, however, because of Medical Alert's incompetent operator and company policies my mother got help 13 minutes and 52 seconds after she first hit the button. My mother died that night.
Medical Alert claims that protocol was followed. 2/11/16 Susan ** said, "It is protocol to call all numbers on the list before dialing 911." 2/12/16 I spoke with Jonathan (another Medical Alert rep.) "They didn't call 911 because they could not hear your mother's voice. So it was not an emergency. They had to call the numbers on the list." 12/21/16 The attorney representing the company claims that protocol was followed. Claiming there was no response from my mother both times the operator called the device. "The operator then followed protocol and began attempts to obtain a GPS fix and also called the house and cell number."
In response to their claim that there was no response from my mother. How would you explain the following? 1) I have a copy of the audio and I can hear my mother's attempts at responding; 2) 2/11/16 Susan ** - She told me she listened to the recording. She said that my mom was talking but it was very faint, she couldn't make anything out. Later in the conversation in reference to the recording, she said, "I don't think I'm going to let you listen to that. You don't want to." I questioned her about it and asked her why if you really couldn't hear anything. She responded, "Because it's sad, someone taking their last breath." So if Susan ** could hear my mother taking her last breath, why would it be necessary to send out and wait for a GPS signal. My mother was clearly at her home. And mind you it was almost 11:00 at night. Most 68-year-old women are not out and about at 11:00 PM.
2/2/16 Natacha ** (Customer Care Supervisor) sent an email to Linda ** (VP Central Station Services). The email reads, "6 minutes is still a bit too long. We inform customers that operators will assume the worst case and dispatch if we do not hear from the subscriber." I have to say Natacha ** was probably the most professional person that I spoke with. Just a few other pieces of information to share. You would think that it would be protocol to send out a GPS signal as soon as the button is pushed by a customer. Instead Medical Alert claims that it is protocol to try and contact the customer multiple times without a VERY CLEAR response before sending out a GPS signal. Then they don't inform you that it could take five minutes to get a fix on the GPS. Yet they claim in their contract that if you cannot be contacted or if you are unclear they will send help immediately.
Medical Alert had it on record that my mother had a defibrillator and her age. That alone should have been enough information to call for help immediately. On one of the first phone calls that I made to Medical Alert after my mother's death, I was asking questions to try and figure out what happened. I was told by the operator I was speaking with that, "Her supervisor just informed her that due to high call volume she was going to have to get off the phone." I got extremely upset and told her that just because my mother died does not mean that she was not a customer and that I had a right to have my questions answered. I was then put on hold.
Also Medical Alert encourages its customers to pay in advance so service is not interrupted. My mother was paid over two months in advance. When I asked them about canceling and having them refund the overpayment after her death, I was told that they would not cancel anything or refund anything until the device was sent back. I continued to receive accruing bills for my mother from them for the next 12 months. On the top of each bill it states in bold print, "YOUR SAFETY IS OUR FIRST CONCERN."
My experience with Medical Alert has been an absolute nightmare. When my mother and I called them and asked questions about how it worked, they were wonderful. They assured us that EMS would be called immediately if they couldn't hear my mom through the device. They said nothing about making phone calls first or trying to determine if the button was pushed by my mother. The only mention of a GPS signal was if my mother was in her car somewhere and had to hit the button. Then after her death, I was treated very poorly. I do not recommend this company to anyone! In fact, I am shocked that they are in business! They took away any chance at survival that my mom had that night. She was an amazing mother and grandmother and she did not deserve to die knowing that help was not on the way. This review was written by the ConsumerAffairs reviewer's wife.

I'm 79 years old, I live alone and I had knee surgery. My daughter felt that it would be wise for me to have something in case of an emergency. Medical Alert is great and I wear it all the time. As they suggested, I wear it in the pool too. When I leave the house, I make sure that I can take the little GPS with me. I have to call in once a month and make sure that the device is active. Having an alert system makes me comfortable. If I do have a situation where I would need assistance, I have somebody to contact.
There was an incident early on where they hadn't sent me the case for the device. It was in my purse and it was accidentally activated. They called my family to tell them that they thought that it was activated accidentally because of the circumstances by listening to the sound. My daughter-in-law said their rep was delightful. I also have the bracelet and I wear it when I dress up. It's nice to have that because it's less conspicuous than the little black string around my neck.

I have nothing but problems with Medical Alert. The problem started when someone called me up and said that there was a problem with my medical alert system and that I needed to send back the necklace. I said it's working fine. I tested it and it seemed to light fine. But they said there’s a problem with it and I had to send it back. I sent it back and they said I had to send them my other one. I did send it to them even though I purchased it from Costco, so it was mine, because they said that they can refurbish it and sell it to somebody else for $350 and if I didn’t send it to them, they’re going to charge me $10. So I sent it to them and then they sent me a bill that had $10 on it.
I called them up and asked what it was for. They said it’s because I didn’t send back the medical alert. I said I did and they asked me to prove it. I can’t prove it. You think I’m going to send something that cost more to prove it than the item is worth? So they didn’t tell me that that item was going to cost me $10 a month ‘til I paid $350 for it. For months I thought they were charging me with the same $10 that they promised to wipe out. I’d call and talk to people and they either say they’re going to do something or they never did anything, but they didn’t resolve the problem. Finally, I got a hold of someone who did resolve it and got rid of the $10 charge. So in the end, it all worked out okay.
Meanwhile, I sent the whole contraption back because I was sick of it. One time, I was laying in the pool swimming away and I heard a fire truck coming down the street. I watched them to see which apartment they were going to and asked them if they were going to number 14. They said yes. I told them I’m in the water and my alarm is laying on the chair. Maybe that’s why Medical Alert figured that I needed a new one. But I kept thinking I hope I don’t get all the ambulance bill because it's like $1500. I wrote a letter to the top person on how disgusted I was with everything, and no answer. I faxed it and mailed it in. So that’s when I decided to heck with this noise.
I also had my wristband and the button part started coming apart and started going off all the time. It happened over and over in just a few minutes’ time and it kept calling Medical Alert. They said to send it to them. I asked them how because it won’t stop calling them and they're going to send an ambulance or a fire truck to my house. They said to wrap it up in bubble wrap and put it in the freezer. So I did and that worked.
But I was satisfied with the response when I was testing the device. The equipment was good and went off when it was supposed to. The people were nice as far as when they’re trying to help me as opposed to when I called them and want their help. I think it’s a different set of people. One was more medically bent and the other one was more customer service.

I fell several times three years ago. I passed out at the parking lot and was in the hospital for six days. They thought it was my heart, but it was low blood pressure. I haven't done that since three years ago, and I'm thankful for that, but that's the main reason my son bought the medical alert device for me, because he was scared to death.
I used another medical alert system before using Medical Alert, and it was one of the first ones that came out that had a telephone with it. However, I had to be by the phone if I fell. But with this one, even if I'm out, I can push the button and they'll come and find me wherever I happen to be. And not only that, but I have a card up on my refrigerator that gives them my information if the EMT would come in to find something. Furthermore, I've got a key on my door outside, and the EMT has the combination for it, so they can get into my house if it's locked up.
The Medical Alert team called me because I didn't check in and they wanted to know if my medical alert button was alright, and I said yes. I had also arranged with them that I would call them on the 18th of every month, and I haven't done that. They called my brother in Indiana because he was the first one on my cellphone. So, they knew up in Indiana before my husband or anybody did down here in Florida. That was another main reason why I got this button.
The medical alert button fits easily into my everyday lifestyle. I just put it in my bra. I hate it when it's hanging around my neck. The thing on the wrist is ugly also, so I wasn't interested in that. But when the device came loose from the little thing that it's plugged into, I put it underneath my bra and nobody knows it's there, but I can push the button if I'm down. I have had nothing go wrong since I've been with the medical alert service. I'm very pleased with it and I've recommended it a lot to friends.

I was turning 82 years old and I live alone. I have a cousin who passed away at my age in her sleep and I spent some time with her children and talked about facing the future when one gets into their 80's and they're alone. It was a joint decision of my family and me to get a Medical Alert device for everybody's peace of mind. Within the next few months, I'm going to be living with one of them. But in the meantime, I feel perfectly safe because I know that if I need help, by just pushing a button, they would be here. Around the yard when I'm doing gardening, I have it on but there's no point in wearing it elsewhere. They have called and asked me if I wanted to upgrade to a device that would call for help if I was out shopping and I told them since I have a good cellphone, it goes with me everywhere.
A few weeks after I had it installed, I fell and broke my hip. I wear the pendant all the time when I'm at home so I pressed the button and almost immediately, I heard the device saying, "emergency". Then a real voice said, "Do you need help?" I answered back, "Yes, I do. Please call the paramedics and my daughter." because they had her phone number as well. My lockbox had the key to my house and the paramedics knew how to get it. As they were taking me out on a stretcher, my daughter arrived since she lives just a few miles away. The next thing I know, I was in an ambulance on my way to the hospital. It all went very smoothly and was perfect. I'm happy to have the service in my house. I've shared the information with people in a club retired people and a lot of them were more curious. So, I gave out phone numbers and information about it and I think other people signed up because of my good experience.

When I test the Medical Alert Device, I'm fine with the people. And as far as Medical Alert responding when we call or I accidentally have hit the thing, they're immediately on it. When we've traveled, we've taken the product and they've told us what to do. However, I have a hard time getting a response back from a customer service person who's looking up information for me. That's the biggest complaint I have.
I called asking for them to send me a copy of a bill because they debit my account and I never know when the billing is going to happen. When I first got the product, it was a special. I was supposed to pay for five and get six months. Then the first time it was renewed, they didn't honor that. So, I had to call them, remind them, and get it done again, only to do the same thing the next time it comes up. So, I need to call them before they debit my card. Also, I can't get a notification from them. I asked for one about a month ago, and still haven't received it. Nevertheless, the product is great, and I would recommend it to anybody who's fallen.

I'm very happy I have it and I wouldn't give it up. My great granddaughter who is three, thought that button was very attractive, so she pressed it. I called Medical Alert right away because that was the first time it had gone off and I didn't want the rescue people running, but it was a good test with the system as I haven't had to use it.
I also have that extra program that I'm really not interested in, where if I have my doors open, I couldn't use my necklace alarm at 400 feet. I think it was $100, and at that time, it sounded good, but I never activated it as I don't think that was a good plan for me. Other than that, Medical Alert is a wonderful program. My son lives in California and he doesn't want to get any more freak calls. Also, my wife colluded with him because she goes to business and I'm home alone. So they felt they wanted somebody to take care of me. It's that Medical Alert. I usually test it once a month myself but I press the button and don't use the testing procedure that they suggest. I actually get a live person speaking good English and I've always had a courteous rep. However, if I drop the medallion that I wear, which is supposed to be for falling, it doesn't trigger the alarm. But sometimes, when I lay it down, 10 or 20 seconds later, it will give me a false report of falling. And that happens sometimes when I'm wearing it and sometimes when I'm not wearing it so I had that changed the first two months.
I had a similar problem with too many false alarms but it never calls on a dispatch because I've always had the opportunity to press and hold the button like they ask you to and they cancel the alarm. But it's not worth much if a patient were to fall because I doubt if it would go off, especially if you have a carpet. However, the button does work. If I press it, they respond on the loud speaker within 20 seconds. It has been fortunate but I haven't had to use it and I'm hoping I would never have to. It's like you don't want your house to go on fire even though you have fire insurance.

Also, one time I was trying to test my unit and the phone number on the box itself wasn't the phone number for the testing department. There were two numbers on the unit that I got and I was phoning the one where it said, "test your unit" and it just kept ringing. I get along and had no problems. However, I had fallen and fractured my pelvis, and couldn't get around, and my son said I need to have a medical alert system. I had a friend, Thelma who had the Medical Alert service and her grandson, Jason, evidently was a representative of Medical Alert in this area. So, Thelma called Jason right away and my son got the Medical Alert service for me immediately. As a matter of fact, my son renewed the contract with Medical Alert this year as his gift to me for Christmas.
So, I've had the Medical Alert service now for a couple of years. I have no problems with it. I switched from the medical alert device around my neck, which was very annoying because the string was too long and I'm not a tall person, to the bracelet which so good. I really like the product and it works fine. Then the young lady rep told me that I can wear the alert device when I go into the shower, and that's even better. Everything is very convenient for me. The alert device is on my left wrist, even when I go to bed, in case I ever need anything, and I have the little monitor sitting on a chest near the front door. I now also rely on a cellphone that's plugged right in on the nightstand.
Moreover, the team at Medical Alert have been very attentive. If the alert goes off, I don't even take a step and they're immediately calling me and saying, "Are you sure you're all right?" and I reassure them that I am. When they call, they are very kind and not demanding. One time, I had the alert device on my wrist, and I must have leaned against something. All of a sudden, somebody was calling me and I said the alarm might have gone off when I pressed my arm against something. So, I wasn't even looking for help but I was getting it anyway from them. The only thing I'm concerned about is that I work outside in the garden and my device doesn't work everywhere.

I’m alone. My son and daughter-in-law live upstairs but they both work and they’re out a lot. I have macular degeneration and they wanted me to have a medical alert device so when they weren’t here and if something happened, they would know that there was a help going to come. So I got one before and the old company was fine, but they were out of the U.S. and it would go off in the middle of the night and I’d be sound asleep. When my contract was up, I then checked out Medical Alert and went with them. Since having it, the kids have lesser worries.
The device is a little big but they’ve got to have something substantial so I don’t have a problem with that. I only wear it at home so that’s okay and I just don’t pay any attention. A couple of times, I’ve bent over and hit the corner of something and I’ve set it off, but other than that, I know it worked. Their customer service is great, very friendly and they know their business. The girl on that call was very calm, cool, and collected which is nice. They’re very prompt and they’ve always been very nice and professional with anything I’ve had to call there to change.

We got Medical Alert for my husband. He had a stroke and last summer he went outside on the porch a couple of times when I told him not to go. I was home at that time fortunately. We have five steps and he fell twice within a week. He's unsteady on his feet. I leave him occasionally for a whole day but I make sure he's wearing the Medical Alert button. The button gives me more peace of mind when I leave him for the day.
My father was in need of a service like this a year or so before he passed away, and I was signed up to another medical service and when we were testing it, I didn't get any response at all and I said, "Well, this isn't for me, if you can't even get a response when you're testing it." With Medical Alert, the only experience that I've had was an accident but it showed us that it's working. I had been putting my husband's button in a dish when he wasn't wearing it, and since I'm home with him most of the time, he doesn't wear it all the time. We went out to supper, and when we got back, the police and an ambulance were here.
Apparently, the button activated. I thought I'm gonna have to get rid of this thing, but then when I called them and told them the situation they said, "You're not supposed to put it in a dish. You're supposed to hang it up when he's not using it." I made a place to hang it and we have not had any more problems. Medical Alert had also called us while we were out but I was already on the road home and I don't answer the phone when I'm driving so they contacted my other contact who was my niece so everything seems to be working just fine. I would recommend them.

I had an open-heart surgery and my heart wouldn't straighten up. I had three heart procedures in a row, but after the second one, my brother, sister, and stepdaughter said, “You shouldn't be living alone.” I said, “Well, I'm not gonna move yet, so I'll just get a panic button,” and got myself a Medical Alert. I was wishing a couple of times, when it gets real muggy and warm, that I had gotten a bracelet, so I can take the necklace off and wear the bracelet. But everything's got a day or two when it's not real comfortable. I've been really satisfied with Medical Alert and it's wonderful to know it's here. I also have less worries since I can carry it with me - especially at times when driving to church is not a very good thing unless I've got security that I can get a hold of somebody if my heart stops or messes up.

I live by myself and sometimes I’ll go all week and not even talk to anybody. My son was concerned that I would fall and nobody would know it for a long time so he signed me up for Medical Alert. I wear the device around my neck and it’s okay. However, the cord on it would come undone all the time. I would like to have it replaced but for some reason, it started holding together.
When I first got the device, they called me once a month to make sure that it was working and I push the button and it went through. They don’t do that anymore and I don't remember to call them. I’ve done it one time and it didn’t go through like it was supposed to. So I had to rigmarole a couple of calls. It’s been at least two months since it’s been checked. Hopefully, it still works. I don’t know why they can’t just do it automatically once a month like they did to start with because that was so much easier. The rep said when everybody does that at the same time, it messes up their system. If they turn so many green lights on at one time maybe it wouldn’t have that problem. I figured as long as this thing is lit up, it’s supposed to be working. Other than that, if somebody really needed something like this, it would be a good thing to have.

The Medical Alert team has been great. They were concerned, very helpful, pleasant and very polite. I was very concerned and they make sure I'm doing what I'm supposed to do as far as monitoring the machine and checking it. However, we had a little incident. I'm at my daughter's and it took them about an hour to get to where we were and they weren't very helpful at that time.
After the alarm went off and they didn't show up for almost an hour and a half, they didn't seem too concerned about being late. And so I said, "Well, okay. I'm older and my little granddaughter is there." So I said, "We need better coverage than this." But the Medical alert device is comfortable and convenient. It's there when I need it. There's no problem with it being in the house. It's at a good location. It's a very important item that you will need especially for an elderly person. Everything's working out real well right now.

I usually go to church every morning and if I’m not there, people get worried and if I don’t answer the phone, they get even more worried. I’ve missed the mass then but I was just tired that night and didn’t get up in time. I had the pastor at the door and my sister-in-law on the phone. It alerted me to do something so that they all know that if something is going on, they’ll be the first to know and that I’ll be taken care of. Hence, I got the Medical Alert.
One time I was at a very noisy party at a park. I was leaning across the table to talk to a couple of ladies and I didn’t realize that I had been pushing the alert button. All of a sudden there’s someone at the door looking for someone who may have a Medical Alert button. I said, “Someone’s got one just like me.” And all of a sudden my niece was at the door too. I realized that it was me. The lady said they heard us talking but no one was answering so they assumed that something was going on that was necessary to send the ambulance down. It's a blessing in disguise as I realized I have had to figure some way to wear the device so that it’s not going off on me all the time. So I’m wearing it backwards now so that when I’m pressing against a table, the button is lying on the inside against my body without being pushed and it’s just hitting the backside of the button. It works good.
One evening I tripped in my kitchen and my foot stopped but my head kept going and it hit the door jamb going into my dining room. I realized that my glasses had broken and I saw the lens fall out. I bent over to pick up the lens and I realized I was bleeding. I quickly grabbed a wet towel and put it on my face where it was bleeding. I wouldn’t have used the button if I wasn’t bleeding. I pressed it and they’re supposed to call my niece who lives across the street but I called her myself because she’d get here faster and she did. She came right over and said she has gotten the call on her way over. So I got to her before they did. The ambulance technicians came in and checked out everything. They said that I could call them if I needed them during the night. My niece stayed with me overnight, so it turned out to be fine.
I still work at 83 and I have my own office in a building. I’m there by myself two days a week and sometimes I even get some scary characters coming in. But now that I have the alert button, I’m okay. I just have to press that button and I’m all set. The only negative is that the Medical Alert is cumbersome because it’s just a little gray rectangular box unlike the other ad I have seen that has a little round button that looks almost like a piece of jewelry. But I have recommended Medical Alert to a couple of people. When they see me hit the button, they ask me about it and I tell them where I got it from.

My Medical Alert button is always there and I’ve always got it on. I’ve used Medical Alert once and had no problems. When I pushed my button and the first person comes on then they start calling, it seems like it takes forever for them to answer the phone. But as what my family and friends tell me, when one falls and is sitting alone, having problems, afraid to might have been hurt and can’t get up, it makes one feel like everything takes long. But whatever I called them for wasn’t anything that serious anyway. I used to have another medical alert service which I got when I first broke my hip in ’06 and with it seems like I got a hold of somebody a lot faster than I do with Medical Alert. Because in Medical Alert, it just seems like the phone just rings and rings and rings before somebody answers it.
I am 81 years old now and I had a four-bypass heart attack with double pneumonia in ’08 and broke my other hip in November ‘13. Having the new Medical Alert made me all the more independent now since I was having medical problems for a while even though they’re getting much better. I'm satisfied with Medical Alert and I have recommended them to about three people.

I'm 75 years old and I live by myself in a secluded area. I got a Medical Alert device and I wear it on a fairly regular basis. I wear it when I'm outside because my house is located in a wooded area and I could be in my backyard dead for weeks and be rotted and nobody would ever find me. I know that’s gruesome, but that’s the way I look at it. I have one son who lives in Texas and one who lives relatively close to me, but if they called and didn’t get me they would assume that I have gone somewhere. Also, I don’t have anybody who visits me on a regular basis and if anybody drove by and didn’t see me, they wouldn’t know how to look for me. One reason I wanted a Medical Alert device is that if I was outside and something happened, I could manage the button if I was physically able.
I did have some problems when I accidentally hit the thing one time on the bed. It set the thing off and an ambulance came to check on me when I was still in bed and I didn’t even know that it had happened. I did it again in the shower, and it was very embarrassing. That bothered me. I do use the equipment and find it helpful. At least I feel more at ease when I'm in my yard because I am at a very secluded place.

My daughter looked at five medical alert service companies and we liked what Medical Alert had to offer and also their prices. The Medical Alert team is so sweet and understanding - off the charts kind. As we get older, we get clumsy, and I have fallen off the stairs. I have a lanyard that I wear around the house and once in awhile, I bump it and I hear a Medical Alert person talking to me so I have to come in and tell him that I'm okay and that I only dropped or hit the device on something. When electricity goes out in the country where we live, they always come and realize it's a power outage and that the device is always there so I don't have to worry about anything. It has really put my daughter next door and my son who lives in another town at ease. Medical Alert has my daughter's number so in case I fall and can't get to talk to them, they call her immediately.
It's comfortable to wear. It gets in the way sometimes, like when I'm cleaning, so when I don't want it banging to something, I tuck it inside my top. They say I need to wear it when I bathe, but it gets in the way, so I don't. I just take my cellphone in with me and the lanyard in the bathroom so I can get to them if I fall. I have told several of the widow ladies at church to get something like this because some of them have fallen and have laid there for hours because nobody checked on them and they had no way of calling for help. Medical Alert is stellar and wonderful to work with. They don't make me feel like I'm an idiot because I want some protection.

I needed a medical device because I was in bed and I started to turn over, my shoulder went out of place. I got it from Medical Alert and I used it for a while and then the machine wouldn't charge up. I called the team about that and they told me that my machine was not picking me up all the time anyway. They weren't getting the signal or I wasn’t getting the signal was what they said. They told me to return it that’s why I got rid of it. Another thing about Medical Alert that I did not like is it had to be charged up for a long time and the charge did not last that long. I don’t know if it’s the particular one I had was faulty or not, but I wanted something that I could use almost all the time because it’s been my luck that it was on the charger when I needed it. It would go off sometimes when it didn’t need to, but that was because I had moved some way or another.
One time, I was in bed and I couldn’t get out of it. The door was locked. They still had to break my door down, but it was a particular day when I was at home all day and I wouldn't even hear from anybody that particular day. And I’m pretty active, but I take that one day that I don’t actually get involved with anybody. I went through a lot of horrible pain I didn’t have to. I forced myself to get up, which was very painful, worse than birth pains when you're having a baby.
Also, some of the bad things had to do with my location. I can't get the internet out here where I am. There's a tower within walking distance from us. My phone works good but as far as internet’s concerned, there'll be places where the signal’s not going to be ok. Nonetheless, there were still some good things about it. When I pushed the button, there will be an answer that will say, “We'll connect you to other groups.” That’s the only thing I understood about it. I like it and I feel a lot more confident when I had it than I felt beforehand. At the time I got mine, I was very relieved to have it. I think that everybody that lives by themselves needs something because it's dangerous. I encouraged other people to get one while I was using mine. One of my friends was telling me her family got her one for Christmas last year.
I feel just as confident now with the Android watch which I'm using now. I can't just push the button but I can dial 911 only. One of my disappointments with the Medical Alert was at night when I sleep, I couldn’t stand it around my neck, so I put it in my pocket and used it that way. I think I would have been more satisfied if I could’ve put it on my arm.

I wear the necklace at night and I haven't had any episodes so I haven't had to use it yet, but the people at Medical Alert are very friendly and helpful. My cat stepped on the box a couple of times and they were very understanding of that. I would recommend it to a friend.

This company will withdraw funds after canceling service. They commit fraud if you give them any bank or card number. Beware and check your bank account for their thieving asses.

My parents in law moved in with us because they were unable to keep for themselves. My father-in-law got Alzheimer’s and my mother-in-law who is the primary caregiver had a stroke. I helped set up my father-in-law's Medical Alert system and everything's going good. It’s comfortable and easy to wear. It also makes us feel safer when we go out. Additionally, the Medical Alert team has been excellent and very helpful.

I’ve had nothing but good results with Medical Alert. I feel very confident in it and I liked the price. Everybody has been kind and more than generous in helping me answer my questions. I had the bracelet but I find the pendant that hangs around the neck better. I had another provider before but with Medical Alert, I like the way that I’ve got just one pendant and I don’t have to have that other machine. If I'm in the car, I use the clip on my handbag right where I can put my hand on it. I would definitely recommend Medical Alert. I’ve had two friends to get it because they liked the way it was set up and how everything’s done.

When I purchased Medical Alert, they worked fast and I didn't have to wait. It went very well. The employees were very kind and they told us how to do it. But I haven't had to use it. My husband had a service that was just for the house. I kept telling him I wanted something that I could use all over, so I decided to get the Medical Alert. I needed to have something if my husband wasn't here. We have some very good neighbors that come over and help also, but I'm not a person that goes out because I'm in a wheelchair and I have Lymphedema. We had tested Medical Alert when it first came here and I received a phone call quite quickly. So far, I'm happy that I have it so I know that there's somebody out there that I can call on.

I like my Medical Alert device very much and I feel comfortable wearing it. I have both kinds of pendants. One, that if I fall and knock myself out, they respond and the other one is where I have to press the button if I fall. Fortunately, I’ve never had to use any of that but I was wearing one and sat down real quickly into a chair. All of a sudden, I hear, “Emergency! Emergency!” and they responded right away. So, I started wearing the other one instead so that if I move quickly, it doesn’t bother them. I wear it always when I’m home so if something happens or I fall, I'd feel safe and protected. So far, I haven’t had any need to call on them to take care of me but that could happen in the future. I’m also supposed to try it out every once in a while with them. I’ve really been negligent in doing that to make sure it’s working properly.

The team of Medical Alert has been very kind and nice. We’ve had a couple of calls where it’s gone off by mistake and they called and made sure that we are okay. My husband is going through some sicknesses and he was not very steady on his feet. He was falling a lot and I have always been that way. I don’t have a good sense of balance. We’re quite a way out. Although there’s a lot of traffic, but I don’t know if anybody would see somebody down and stop and pullover. So, having the Medical Alert is a good thing. My husband wears his device every day because he is outside a lot. We got the one that when he falls, it buzzes. So, he doesn’t have to push the button. We still have the older device where you have to push the button. We use that when we take a shower. They told me I can keep that to use for that purpose, so we do.
We have a lockbox now so they can get in and would not have to tear up the house to get to us. They did come in one time. It went off and I was at church and my husband didn’t know that it had gone off. He looked up and there were five men standing in front of him. Luckily, they had their uniforms on. They had called me but my phone was off so then they called my niece who happened to be in Las Vegas visiting. It was so quick. That alerted the whole family and everybody was scared to death wondering what has happened to us. Overall, I am glad we have it. It’s worth the extra money that we’re putting out a month. It does give me a sense that we’re being taken care of.

I’ve been well satisfied with Medical Alert. I’m here by myself with the two dogs after my husband passed away. But one dog is a little rambunctious and she has knocked me over a couple of times in the past. I have the device that goes around the neck and then the one on the wrist. One time, I went to close one of the drawers in the kitchen and I pushed the device. All of a sudden, I got an alert from whoever was on duty. Then another time, I was carrying something and the device around my neck hit it because I was bracing it against my chest, and the rep came back again. My daughter and I feel safer and more secure now that I have Medical Alert.

I'm on a routine, have three days a week that I have to go for dialysis and it's four hours every session. It's no fun but apart from that, I got the machine as a precaution if anything happened because I live alone. I have one upstairs and one downstairs. I wear one for around the house and when I come home after dialysis, I put the other one on all night. I'm hoping that nothing happens but if it did, I know I've got it. So it gives me a bit more security. I'm very satisfied and on the day that anything should happen to me, I'm hoping that when I do press the button, it works.

I'm 87 years old who lives alone in an apartment in Wisconsin with poor balance and some back problems who occasionally uses a walker and a cane. I have a couple of friends who have Medical Alert so I decided to get one myself. I put the alert button around my neck and wear it under my shirt. Occasionally, I have to move it over because it scrapes. When I first got this, I had a lanyard that was extremely long and we adjusted it and it still didn't work so, they sent me a new one. I have two now and one is shortened up a bit so I don't hit it on tables and chairs especially on the countertop when I'm reaching for something. I know that if I'm in the car and have an accident, somebody's going to call the paramedics. I still put it on daily even when I have company.
When I first had Medical Alert for the first 10 days, I didn't have the lanyard and I kept bumping it against the table or across my arms, or put a seat belt over it. But I've learned and I haven't had it happen lately. I called Medical Alert this morning because I'm flying back to Wisconsin tomorrow and I couldn't find my papers so I had to call to find out what I should do with the device when I'm flying and how to turn it off. Their team have been excellent and Tiffany, the one I spoke with this morning, was extremely helpful. The paramedic gave me the number to get through to them to see what I should do with the system. They told me how to turn it off and how to reactivate it when I get back in Wisconsin.
There are also pros and cons to it. I don't know if I need it but I use it. I would definitely recommend them. In fact, I have a friend visiting me right now who's thinking about it. I had a very good experience with them and the people, when I have gotten a paramedic alert by mistake, they have been very, very good about it in saying, "Don't worry about it. That's why we're here." They've always been very polite and never give me a bad time when I've screwed it up. The only problem I had is how to cancel the calls because I have so many of them that were coming off here. I've only been able to cancel the call once. Now, what I'm going to do is to push it twice and then the third time, hold it down, and that will shut it off and then I'll just disconnect the battery and take it home. I hope that works. Otherwise, it's going to be packed somewhere and somebody's going to get a phone call.

I have a problem between my thigh and my hip and if I do not have something to walk on, I will fall. And since I have fallen, I have bad knees now and a little bit of bad back. My daughter takes care of me all the time and I figured not to bother her by getting a Medical Alert device. The only time I used it was when I was getting ready to bed and I pushed it. And the next thing I knew, somebody was knocking on my door about 8 o’clock at night and it was dark. I wouldn’t have answered had it not been that I saw the insignia on the man’s uniform. They came in and they were the nicest bunch of men. And so, then, I have a thing at the back door that has numbers on it so that they can get in. And then, the people would call when I do bump something, were very nice. I can’t find better people. I just apologize for bothering them. I’m stubborn and I have learned with carrying this thing to be more careful in not pushing it.
Medical Alert is a very helpful device and it keeps me company. I feel very safe with my alert. If something happens and I get in trouble, I know all I have to do is push a button and they will be here so I don’t have to worry about it anymore. Also, when I don't answer when they call, they call my daughter who is just 10 minutes away. Plus, they're really great people. Not a bit irritable, just only helpful and they don’t treat me like I'm something different. I’m so glad that my daughter made me have Medical Alert. I would recommend them.

With Medical Alert I feel safer when I'm alone, especially if I'm using the shower.
The alert looks like a fitbit on my wrist but I had a hard time wearing it when I first got it. I wasn't wearing it to bed and in the bathroom. But then everybody said those are the two places I should be wearing it so I do now and I leave it on usually 24 hours a day. Sometimes the plastic will give me a bit of a rash around my wrist so I need to switch wrists and maybe take it off at night once in a while to put some Cortisone cream on those places that kind of breakout. I have severe back pain and had a spinal stimulator put in. One night, I was ready for bed and suddenly realized that my pulse had risen. But I thought, "It'll be all right." I went into the bathroom and all of a sudden, I went into respiratory arrest. I couldn't breathe. There was no air exchange at all. So I quickly turned off the stimulator. I had a magnet that I kept handy and stopped it. But that was all I could do. I pressed the Medical Alert button and was able to tell them I couldn't breathe. They came and a female paramedic checked my breathing. The next thing I knew, I woke up in the emergency room with a CPAP on my face. So I would have died if I did not have a Medical Alert with me.
The second time, my mattress didn't fit well on the frame of the bed. I was lying on my left side, and for some reason, I was gonna turn over to my left side again. And I couldn't do that 'cause I was right near the edge of the bed. I reached and went to turn, and because of the way the bed was, I went out of the bed and hit the floor. I didn't lose consciousness, but when I looked down, there was a pool of blood on the bedroom floor. I looked at my leg and there was at least a three-inch gash deep in it. I didn't know whether I could stand or not at that point. So I called my son to alert him, and he said, "You better press the Medical Alert button 'cause I'm not gonna be able to get there for about 40 minutes." So I did, and they came in and assessed me first and then were able to see if I could stand.
The second time wasn't a life-saving incident, but Medical Alert was marvelous during both times. And when the EMTs came, they checked everything and they have a note written. I'm large and they have it noted that they need to send the fire department also so that they have an extra hand or two to lift me if I have to be lifted.
The other day I was doing the wash, and I bent over the machine to put my clothes in and it swung and hit the washer. The alarm went off, and I didn't know it 'cause I was outside of the building. A little light lit up on the necklace, so I called immediately when I got in the house and told them I was alright. But they got the alarm and the squad was on its way. Medical Alert is life-saving, and when I was in a restorative place in Port St. Lucie, almost every patient that I talked to said, "You better have Medical Alert because this is what happened to me." It's about 100% and they all say the same thing.

I was recently widowed, living alone, and past 80 years old. I knew that I probably should have a medical alert system and once my daughter suggested that I get one, I did and I've been essentially very happy with it. However, it came with a big honkin'-lookin' black cord. I'm already 5'6" and the chain is so long, it would almost hit the pubic bone. So, I shortened it and tied a knot but it looks less than what I would like. I bought a very inexpensive chain but it makes my neck green so I need a chain that won’t do that.
I haven’t had any sort of emergency but I just wear it. One time I flew to Boston to visit one of my children, I got stopped through security at the airport because the alert was hidden under my blouse. All I had to do was show the screener that it was a Medical Alert item. And she said, "Next time you go through security, pull it out and leave it hanging out for us." I've done that with no problem.
When I purchased it though, I was told by the guy I was talking to that to check the system monthly, I was just to press my button and someone would answer. I was doing that but one time I did that five months ago, I got chewed up royally. I'm supposed to be calling a number but I didn't have it. They gave me the number and I've been using it since with no problem at all but I just felt that I didn't need to be chewed up when I didn't know any different. Nevertheless, my experience with Medical Alert has been very satisfactory.

If only my Medical Alert would work right. The first device I had helped when I had fallen and really cracked my head on my end table and bled all over. I kept pushing the button and when I finally got up for a minute to give them a chance to catch up, they said, "We have somebody on the way over there." They were very good as far as my using that.
Then I asked for a new one, not realizing that it's good for only 36 hours before I have to charge it. But it doesn't even give me 24 hours of service before it's telling me, "Please hang it up on your charger." I was 30 miles away from my house when it told me that and it ended up going off when I'm not doing anything. With my original device, the charger was separate at my table. I had to take the charger with me and half the time, I forget to take it, or if I do take it, I forget to put it back on. But with this new one, I could wear and take it with me, and if I fall or end up leaning on it, it's supposed to let them know automatically. But it doesn’t keep the charge for 36 hours. So I really am very, very disappointed in this. I think they’re doing very ** with me.
And when I talked to the Medical Alert people one time, they can't help me to resolve what my problem is. So I would like somebody in the billing department. My daughter was paying for this but it’s costing me extra for this new thing. I still have my old one but, of course, it’s been shut down. If I can turn it back on again, I will.

When I first got the Medical Alert device I had not read the rules and I didn't know how to use it. There was some static on the TV at the time so I thought it was the alert thing that I had just put on and so I took it off and laid it down on the table. Then in a few minutes came the fire department. I shouldn't lay it down. I either should wear it or turn it off. Another incident happened. I was asleep and evidently, I pressed against it and the phone rang and they asked me if I was all right. I assumed I had pressed against it and it had gone off. I don't know how or why it would have done that, but it hasn't since. Also, several months ago I was in the shower and the phone rang and they wanted to know if I was all right. I said, "Yes" and they said, "Well, the alarm went off." I said I was in the shower. They had me go through some talking with the monitor on the stand, then they sent me a new one. I've been wearing it and so far, it's worked.
I have to remember to take the device wherever I go, so I clamp on the carry-on case to my purse. I also take the device with me when I go shopping. Every time I get in the shower, I hope it doesn't short out because it had once, but so far it hasn't. It hasn't presented any problem at all other than I have to remember to take it with me. Sometimes when I'm outdoors, I think I'm too far away from the monitor. What I don't like about it is that black cord. It hangs there down to my bellybutton. I know it can be shortened but I don't like it and it's ugly, so I bought a silver chain and hang it from that and that's worked real good so far.

I enjoy having it as it makes me feel secure. I don’t like it around my neck though. I need it on my arm. They shipped me another one but it's too small. Then they sent me another one and it’s still too small, except the first one was a black band and the second one was white and that’s not what I wanted. I wanted one big enough to go around my arm but I still hadn’t got it. Other than that, I'm very satisfied.

It's been a weird year this year. I broke my back twice and so I have been probably more dependent to make sure that I have my Medical Alert system on. My husband works so it is my babysitter. And normally, I talk with someone. I haven't yet this month, but last month, I did. I would sit here and press the button and double-check that it's working because it's my lifeline. I feel safe with it. This last one I got allows me to go as far as out to the mailbox which I couldn't do with my previous system. This one has a much larger area that it can cover. It gives me a lot of freedom and I'm very pleased with it. The last time I had it, it was too large. But now, I wear it and I get along fine with it.
